Would give them negative stars if possible. Ordered something online using my PayPal since I thought they helped with fraud when it occurred. Well lo and behold, the clock I ordered was completely different from what was advertised and did not even function. When I tried to dispute this complete fraud with Paypal I was told to ship the product back to China for the cost of my refund and received no further help. Will never use PayPal again in the future.

I started a donation campaign in honor of my youngest brother who is fighting for his life against Metastatic Prostate Cancer through GoFundMe and for some reason... PayPal said that I needed to set up a business account even though it's a donation campaign?? They are holding $404.00 that has already been donated and have been holding it hostage for 6 and a half weeks now and said it could take up to 180 days before they decide to release it to me! And I just received another email today from them stating the exact same thing and it could take up to 120 days?? The other campaign company I'm using now sends me the money within 72 hrs with no issues but PayPal can hold our money for hostage until they feel like releasing it.... That isn't right!!

Absolutely Awful. My bank that I have been using on PayPal for over 10 years suddenly stopped working, and I had to call PayPal to figure out what was wrong and resolve it because I was unable to fix it by resetting the connection to the bank myself. They told me it had become "unverified" and had to be verified by them with me calling in. They could not explain to me why it became unverified suddenly, and could not answer if it would happen again. They just kept dodging questions and talking in circles and it drove me NUTS. Just wasted my time and acted like I was crazy for being upset. I asked to talk to a manager and GOT HUNG UP ON.

So, I decided to close my account. This is how I learned basically all of their customer support is incompetent, and it wasn't just bad luck before. I could not close my own account because for whatever reason, I had a -0.01 USD balance and +0.01 AUD balance, and despite showing a 0.00 overall balance, this odd discrepancy was preventing my account from being closed. I tried to transfer the AUD to USD, but it failed and just said it can't be done right now.

I was told by Customer Service that they couldn't fix the issue, and transferred me to Collections, and I was transferred back and forth like this for over an hour with NO HELP WHATSOEVER. They just kept saying it was the other team's problem. I finally landed someone competent from Customer Service who was able to close my account, but by this point I can't recommend PayPal to ANYONE.

Awful, unorganized, uncommunicative customer support who just try to get you off the phone any way that they can because they don't actually know how to do anything. They will make stuff up like "oh our system probably needs to update, give it a few days and try again!" For an issue that had existed for over a year. They will try anything to get you off the phone so that the next agent will have to try fixing it instead of them. This whole awful experience was over several different days and SEVERAL HOURS of being treated like crap by many different incompetent support people.

Paypal did not like some of the items I was selling on ebay as they were military related. EBay and Paypal had an agreement and any items that ebay allows me to sell should be able to be processed through paypal. Paypal canceled my account and held all of my money for 6 months just to punish me for selling what they don't approve of. Paypal is also anti 1st Amendment and anti 2nd Amendment. In my opinion, anyone who believes in the US Constitution should NOT use paypal. We have to give up some conveniences in life so certain entities can not use our money for purposes that are against our values.

I logged in and found that a credit card was added to my account which didn’t belong to me, and moments after the cc was added, a transaction was processed from my linked checking account to an individual in Europe. I immediately reported the transactions as fraudulent only to have PayPal respond that it was not an unusual transaction and that I should request a refund from the seller. My account was hacked and they’d do nothing whatsoever to help and I’m out $200+ dollars…SMH.

I provided PayPal with documentation showing an invalid fake tracking number. Their response was that agreement has changed and that this was the new time frame that they work on. PayPal no longer puts purchaser protection as a priority. Shame on PayPal. They have constantly gone down hill on consumer protection.

To keep the fraudulent charges from draining my bank account which was connected to Paypal account, I emptied the account and notified the bank NOT to pay Paypal withdrawals. I reported all the fraudulent charges to Paypal THREE times. I reported these many times online, talked to at least 3 Paypal employees including a supervisor, and STILL, over 14 days after the incident, they are STILL trying to charge me for the fraudulent charges which they are liable for. Sent them numerous emails sent from another clothing site, hfashionltd, showing their return policy and the bribe. This was not enough information for them to determine the scam. It was right there in the emails I sent so they requested more information and sent me a link to use for attaching the new information and said I had 7 days to provide or case would be closed. I went and got all the information but I couldn't attach to the link they sent.

I contacted customer service and they attached it for me. They should have seen this from the messages going back and forth. On day 8, I get an email stating case was closed, additional information was not provided. OMG! I have now spent a month fighting with this company and asking PayPal to help because that is their job and they close it out. I couldn't do any more on this. Many hours had been wasted. I settled with the company for 50% back and donated the clothes. I am done with using PayPal. Their customer service agents are idiots. On the rare occasion, when a seller has taken advantage in the past, Paypal has always taken care of any dispute honorably. Although I am reading less and less favorable comments regarding this process, I have enjoyed using my account promptly and efficiently with confidence.

That being said, I cannot make any sense or come close to understanding the "Amount due to avoid standard and deferred interest" value charged each month now. It used to add up but hasn't for some time. It is always over any calculation possible. Paying the higher amounts of course pays the balance down but it is impossible to budget. I wish this would go back to the way it was, where you could actually calculate the balance and not expect some random amount that you can't even justify.

I prepaid for a rental car with Avis using PayPal. Avis told me they cannot accept paypal as a payment method because there is no card number to check the last 4 digits on. So the day of vacation avis charged me the full rental amount, plus deposit. After I had already paid in full and should have had a $300 hold on my credit card. So now I have an authorization and have already paid a total of $1,049. This is day 1 of my vacation. I ask for my money back from avis and paypal. Neither company will look at it or try to resolve anything in anyway. I am quite upset at this point. But hey everyone going on vacation with a family of 4 has multiple extra thousands of dollars available to go with right? I end the vacation 1 day early. Lose the money paid for prepayment on the days activites. $260 gone. Come back home and return the car 1 day early. So a total of 6 days.

I call avis and they are barely willing to refund me for the day I returned the car early. Only after arguing with the phone representitive for 20 minutes. Now 4 hours on the phone with paypal the superviser named Ron finally looks at the request. He told me for 5 minutes or more that it was not possible to close out the case today. I argued and kept asking him to look at the information from 7 days ago. FInally they agree that I should get my money back and they will send it in 3-5 days

So to be very clear. Paypal advertised Avis as being a business partner that provides “deals” with. You can prepay with Paypal. Once you go to pick up the car Avis says “I need the last 4 digits of the card used to make this reservation”. You say Paypal is a digital wallet that doesn't provide the last 4 digits of a card as it's not a credit or credit card.

Avis says: We don't accept prepaid reservations without it. Then they charge you the full amount, plus the incidentals fee on a credit card and pretend your prepaid reservation doesnt exist. Paypal supervisors spoken to at paypal: Ron supervisor 7/30/2023, Joel supervisor 7/30/2023. These 2 are as dumb as you get. They just tell you words without verifying any information. Every. Feel free to argue until they actually look at the information.

    Updated review: July 29, 2023

Seven days after posting this review, Paypal reversed their decision on my claim and said they'd refund the stolen amount to my credit card. I don't have a credit card through Paypal, nor do I want one, but I see them trying and if they meant they'll put it back in my debit account, great, four stars. They're not getting five after three months of this and only getting a resolution - without explanation - when their reputation is threatened, but maybe someday they can get there again. I don't often give second chances with something this egregious, but twenty-six years has gotta count for somethin'.

    Original Review: July 21, 2023

I've been a Paypal customer since 1998, and have always been happy with their service, never had to deal with the claims department until a couple months ago when a small amount of money was removed without my permission to an exchange account that I confirmed wasn't mine, as part of a 'recurring transaction' I confirmed I hadn't set up. I put in my claim, letting them know that the same had happened in an account at another institution at the same time - that claim was promptly dealt with, but was what alerted me to the issue at Paypal - and the claim was denied, but the denial promised an appeal process and 'the documentation [the claims department/Paypal] used to make [their] decision'.

I appealed, asking for the promised documents, and sharing my redacted transaction history as well as a screenshot of the relevant portion of my chat with the exchange's customer service employee. I received two replies from Paypal's claims department that gave different reasons for the denial, one of which said it contained the documents, but as has also been the case in each subsequent message stating the documents are included, the 'documents' were just empty image frames.

After having gone back and forth several times with the same result, and unable now to reply directly to messages in the Message Center - although I've continued to contact the Claims Appeal department via the email address and have received replies through the Message Center, without any email notification thereof it should be noted once the department had decided my case was closed, and without any resolution on my claim - I've informed them that since I'm overall satisfied with Paypal and was able to secure my account there, and since I don't intend to sue over such a small amount, I'd be placing reviews such as this one in places where I'm able to specify that it's not the company overall with which I have an issue, but this department in this circumstance. As I told them, I'm very disappointed.

PayPal is a scam. Why do they not make it clear that there will be a fee? I ended up having to pay another $25 to the person and ended up losing this money. PayPal should've been transparent about this money. This is absolutely unacceptable and can't believe they would blatantly lie about it. Never doing business with PayPal again.

I did everything by the book, and by their rules. I bought a guitar online for $4,000 by having the seller send me a paypal invoice. Paypal terms say that I am protected if the seller sends me a counterfeit item and there is a Paypal invoice for the transaction (there is). The seller sent me a counterfeit guitar. Paypal told me to get documented proof from a guitar repair person and to send the guitar back with signature proof of delivery. Paypal told me to upload both documents to Paypal. I did both. Multiple representatives told me that I did what was asked and that I'd be refunded in a few days, but they have no power because the mysterious "back office" is handling this claim due to it being over 1,000 dollars. Back office has no emails and no phones accessible apparently. After talking to 10 people and calling for 4 weeks, Paypal denied my claim. Each person I spoke to said a different ** reason

Reason 1: The signature at the address wasn't from the person who sent the guitar (there is nothing in their policy that dictates who the signature needs to be from, and a rep on the phone verified that.
Reason 2: I didn't provide tracking and delivery confirmation info (I know, ironic how they could claim #1 and #2 at the same time. I resent them the info, and they re-confirmed that I in fact sent the correct info.
Reason 3: That the guitar was a "resale" (again, nothing in their policy saying anything about that excluding me from buyer protection. I verified with a rep on the phone that this was **.

Reason 4: I had someone repair the guitar. (Uh, what? This is bogus and not true.) I called back, again, and reopened the case, but the whole process is just starting over again, with little hope for me I fear. Don't know what to do.

I've had my PayPal account for 22 years. It's a personal account. A friend just transferred a large-ish sum of money to me. I get an email from PayPal saying they've held 85% of the funds for this "purchase" until I ship the "item" to the "customer", and they've kept $347.00 US as a "service fee". When I called PayPal, their customer service supervisor, Mark, was incredibly rude to me. He basically told me I'm out the $347, they can't tell me when my account was changed to business account, and he was incredibly rude about it. So this account I've had for 22 years is suddenly a business account, but they can't tell me how. They can't FIX the problem. They can't give me the $347 back.

On top of that, they're holding 85% of the funds for TWENTY-ONE DAYS, and the other 15% of the funds, they said they'd release. So I went online to transfer the funds to the VERIFIED BANK ON THE ACCOUNT which has been verified for OVER A DECADE, and I was required to submit a photo of my ID, and a current photo of myself, before they'd release. So I did that, and they told me they can't release the funds because they can't verify it's me. WHAT??? Look, I don't know how may random strangers want to put money INTO my bank account, but should this really be an issue? It's a PayPal account TIED TO a specific bank account, and so what does it matter WHO is putting the funds into the account, as long as the funds are going into the bank account tied to the PayPal account. Seriously, people nowadays seem to have problems with logic. And all of this frustration has only cost me the small (lol) sum of $347.

I want to thank Adam M. in PayPal Business Litigation. He was fantastic in understanding the issue and resolving the matter. As a 23 year customer of PayPal, I understand issues can arise, and having someone like him step in, is sometimes needed, and appreciated.

    Original Review: April 18, 2023

I have filed a BBB Complaint against PayPal because of the treatment I have received since using their Buyer Protection Policy. In short, I made a purchase ofa musical instrument, that was not anywhere near what was described. I made 5 payments (2 for the item and 3 for shipping and handling), which resulted in 5 claims when the item arrived with over 30 holes drilled into it and covered over with putty, tar dripped on the item, and cracks in the item. I supplied over 30 pictures of the damage.

This led to 4 of the cases being closed by PayPal in my favor and a refund of all the money except for 500.00 dollars, which the last claim was for, and was pending at the time the PayPal Customer Service associate, who closed the 4 cases in my favor. The last case has created an unbelievable response by PayPal's claim department.

First, they made my wife and I take the instrument to Guitar Center and get it deemed damaged and worthless, which we did. Next, they said we would need to file a FBI claim. Then they said we would need to ship the item back to the seller, who ripped us off and did not request the item... and that would be at our expense, which would be over 1,000.00. (So spend 1,000.00 to get the remaining 500.00). I called on 03-31-2023 and spoke to a Supervisor at PayPal who informed me (promised me) that I would get my money back and the (Paypal case) would be closed in my favor, as she deemed it should be. I have the recorded phone call which verifies this.

To my surprise, even though I was promised by the supervisor, on 03-31-2023 that I would receive a refund and the final open case would be closed in my favor... Paypal's claim's department on 04-10-2023 instead retaliated by ignoring the supervisor's promise and instead placed my account in a collections standing. In the attached call you can hear PayPal saying that my account is in a status of "attempting to collect a debt", and then states that "the account is in good standing with nothing owed." I have been a customer for 23 years at PayPal. I never would believe a company could treat someone like this and get by with it. Be warned PayPal do not honor their own policies.

I put in my address on the merchant's website and I made sure that my PayPal primary address and billing address were my current address. Somehow PayPal pulled up and sent to the merchant address that I have not used for six months. The item was shipped to the wrong address. The merchant went to help me because they insisted they use the address that PayPal gave them.

I had to find someone to go to the house, pick up the item and then mail it to me costing me $33. I asked the merchant to reimburse me and they refused. I asked PayPal to reimburse me and they refused. I went through PayPal’s dispute process. The first decision was denied because the merchant showed proof of delivery. I tried a second dispute to say I never argued that it wasn’t delivered, but that it was delivered to the wrong address and it was not because I put in the wrong address. Today I got a response from that claim saying that it was denied because the merchant's description of the product matched what product I received. I never argued about the product itself.

I argued about PayPal storing an old address for me and then sending it to a merchant who used it instead of the address I put in when I ordered the product on their website. I cannot trust PayPal and this means that any merchant who uses PayPal I will not be able to order from. I want them to be a better company and it’s not. This is not the first time in this happened to me, but the last time that happened many years ago, the merchant was kind enough to fix the mistake once they realized it was not me. I cringe. Every time I see that PayPal is my only choice because they cannot clean out their records when a individual changes their address.

When I attempted to transfer the money Paypal informed me that they will hold my transaction up to 72hrs due to needing to "REVIEW" it. At the same time while in the app it told me I could expedite the transaction by taking a picture of of ID and also a selfie, which I did. The transaction was STILL place on hold.

My issue with paypal is they NEVER hold up SENDING MONEY, they always hold MY MONEY from transferring. I suspect that it's about FLOATING monies for profit. The support center told me it was about insuring my safety, #1 I logged into my account, #2 I sent my ID, #3 I sent a selfie, #4 I have been with Paypal for 20yrs, #5 there is NO way they would refund me on a Friends and Family transaction if I made a mistake.... And lastly WHY would I be depositing funds into my OWN account????

How can such a huge "business entity" be so customer unfriendly? PayPal is one of the worst ever companies that provide any form of intelligent informed or easily accessed customer service! Their computerized phone system makes it pretty much impossible to get anyone to help. The customer service employees reply with answers that are pretty much as inaccurate as the computerized phone and online help assistant. I have fought unsuccessfully with PayPal for about a month and still my problems were never fixed, never correctly or intelligently addressed, always blamed to be something other than PayPals glitch, which it is; Paypal ignored my preferred payment choices and choose their own without informing me or allowing me to approve or deny. They have cost me endless amount of time, anger, stress and financial loses in various transactions.

Without my permission they have sent a charge to my $0 balance bank account. I have a late rent payment out there floating around with extra late fees now because they did not allow a usual and often long time performed transfer of funds this month saying what I was requesting was a security risk which I fought unsuccessfully. It was to my son with the same last name even. They ended up doing the pymt as a check after a few denials but never told me they were doing a check, never gave me the option to cancel and deny and if they did I could have gotten the cash and paid it right away!

They won't remove a very old Mastercard from my acct. They won't link & allow me to use a new mastercard which I've set as my preferred pymt method. They ignore it and choose on their own without notification a different way to charge my purchases. I'm losing 1% cashback due to their errors & I can't get it fixed with them. Their wallet and my wallet are two different things; they should be the same. I say my issues are A-B-C: they ignore those issues and give me answers D-E-F! They are awful! Use other payment sources! Venmo or Zelle? NOT PAYPAL!

Had a payment from Ebay denied, called credit card company, they said no issues with the card, but they did have a fraud alert saying the item was entered 4 times. I only clicked the button once, so maybe Paypal submitted it multiple times, who knows? I had just bought something using the card minutes before this with no problem. After hours on the phone with card Co., verifying everything, finally got off there and tried again... same issue. Then bought that same item from same Ebay seller using my card directly and it was fine.

Called Paypal, told the man I was not happy and nothing I said was directed at him.I did not berate him, curse, or say anything offensive but he hung up on me while I was explaining. So called again, started explaining to the lady who insisted it was the credit card, and again she hung up on me. How can any institution that handles financial transactions be allowed to continue in this way? Done with this SCAM of a company.

Whenever I have to transfer money using PayPal, my heart sinks. Even as a guest, because "Payment via PayPal" as a guest never, ever works, after processing the payment I always just receive some random error. So, okay, though this is what I've been dreading, I guess I'll try to log in. Oh but no, despite the fact that I use a password manager with the most up-to-date password there (and have this problem with zero other sites), the password is "incorrect" and I have to get it reset. Fine, what did I expect?

After waiting upwards of ten minutes for PayPal to send the verification code, I finally manage to log in and discover that all of my most up-to-date banking information is missing, as if it was never there (though it WAS!) and all that remains is a bank account that hasn't been open since 2006. What gives? Okay, well, anyway, I'll re-add the valid banking information. Oh, I can't? What's the problem, "click here to find out" I see, uh huh, okay, better click there then... Wait, you've just taken me back to my dashboard. This tells me nothing. Well, let's get rid of this 2006 bank account at least. Oh I can't? I need to send pictures of my ID etc. etc. etc ...

After a while, I check the clock and realize an hour has passed, I am just messing about with a glitchy service that seems dedicated to raising my blood pressure, accomplishing nothing because there is always a new obstacle. The end result of all this aggravation will be me continuing to not be able to use my PayPal account, and not being able to make the transaction that I started with, which should have taken five minutes total. After all, that's the time it takes me with every other payment method I've used on the internet.

Conclusion: There is a reason I greet being required to pay for something using PayPal with dread, and it's because I've been to this rodeo before and I know it won't work out, or if it does, it will do so only after eating up a disproportionate number of daylight hours. Somehow, someway, the "service" will find a way to turn this into an all-day festival of frustration.

PayPal sounds like your friend who helps you pay. In practice, it's more like Pay Bully who steals your lunch money--though, to be fair, instead of stealing your money, it "merely" steals your time. In this case, I've decided not to complete the transaction that started this whole mess, because it was optional. However, I live in terror of the fact that someday again I will find myself being forced to try to process a transaction through PayPal. Maybe next time it will be something necessary, and I'll have to cancel everything else I wanted to do with that day merely so that I can unwillingly cosplay in an episode of Black Mirror. May that day be far away. May it never come. Let us pray.

There is no security or trustworthy for buyers who do payment through PayPal because if buyer cancel order or get refund from seller they charged person who receiving refunds and hold the funds as well, and you they don’t even bother to resolve the issue, if these funds are refunded by seller as goods and services, not even take a step to communicate with seller why buyer will get charged or reverse the seller transaction and request seller to pay refund properly.

Not the way that the buyer/refund person get payment in ethical way without charges and should not be funds on hold, if I am new PayPal user it doesn’t mean if I am when receiving my refund they put my funds on hold for month, and when they released the funds, I tried to transfer the funds back to my account, PayPal porter didn’t let me transfer my funds to my bank. Looks like you guys just want to do fraud by not letting people transfer their own money to their own bank accounts. Just frustrating and getting hard time to deal with PayPal to resolve the issue and all the time I have to contact customer service.

Haven't used PayPal in years, but that was the quickest way to receive my reimbursement from SWA, from their holiday meltdown. I went on vacation using just the funds in my PayPal balance. I didn't have a PayPal debit card, but my gf did, so I just transferred money to her, as we needed it. But first day of vacation, PayPal randomly denied a transfer of $180. (Money needed to drive up to South Lake Tahoe). There was no explanation, only denied. And no way to fix it, because their phone lines are not operational past a certain time, till 6 am.

So I tried to add a digital debit card, in hopes of transferring money that way. No luck = errors. At 6 am, after 10min on hold, I found out it was because of "security" reasons, and because I modified the account, it was gonna be froze for 24-48 hours. No solid answer how long, and I would not receive any notification when I could use the account, just had to wait. Called back a little later, this time on hold with 3 people over an hour and 15min. Was eventually able to get the funds available enough to make a transfer to my bank "IN MINUTES." That was a lie, when finalizing the transfer, it displayed an "error has occurred" and the system chose to continue the transaction with a 24hr, processing time. Leaving me with ZERO money, while on vacation.

That night, desperate and broke, I cashed out my crypto on PayPal. Around $200. Tried transferring $1 "in minutes", and it showed up in bank right away. So I transferred the remainder of balance again, and the ERROR showed back up, and again placed it in 24hr processing. I fly back home tomorrow, and have been without money the entire trip, because of deficiencies at PayPal. I'm gonna sue them for the cost of my flight, since I was unable to do anything, without MY MONEY. Will try and add more to this, if I can, when I do get my money.

I used PayPal to transact a transaction with a business. I was selling Solar Appointments, and because I did not know the buyer very well, I made sure to have him send it as "Family and Friends" so it could not be disputed at a later date (that option says it right on the Paypal app when you choose that method of payment). The other person disputed it months later, Paypal called and asked me what happened, so I told them exactly what happened. They took my statement, asked me if I wanted to refund the buyer, I told them I did not, the transaction was non-refundable and completed. PayPal then debited my account $1500, and refunded back to the buyer. I called PayPal back and asked why they did that, their response was "he disputed it directly with his bank, if he had disputed that with us, we would have denied it, but since it was through his bank, we have no control over what happens." Although Paypal may not be able to stop a dispute directly with a bank, but they did have the control to:

    1. Not have a "friends and family" option to make a payment with the caption "friends and family cannot be refunded later".
    2. If taking the money from me. They could have issued a refund from Paypal, since they made the mistake, and then overdraw the buyer's account for processing a dispute on a friends and family transaction.
3.Suspended my account so I can't log in, holding my statements "hostage" unless I pay a creditor, (yes, they sent my account to collections as well) stating there is no way to email me the statements so I can do my taxes.

    4. Putting me on hold all morning, hanging up on me after 45 minutes, now back on hold waiting again.

The buyer should never have been refunded, if it was out of their control they should have paid the refund due to their mistake, then overdrew the buyer's account, or suspended his Paypal account, not mine. I have never had a dispute, a refund requested, fraud, or anything like that on my account for the 4 and a half years I had it.

Hello. This review is about PayPal. I just wanted to give you my experience. I had PayPal from I think about 2017 till 2020. Maybe 2016. Never had a dispute. Never had a return purchase. Just never had an issue with the account. I ended up having a transaction with a buyer I was unfamiliar with. I made sure to do it as "family and friends" because it says strictly on there, "If you send it as family and friends, you can't dispute it or try to have it refunded later." Lo and behold, four months after the transaction happened, the guy tried to dispute it. He didn't do it through PayPal because they would have denied him. He did it directly through his bank. Because he did it directly through his bank, they went ahead and had to refund him apparently because he did that. And instead of just taking the money out of their pocket for their mistake, they went ahead and debited my account. There was other remedies that they could have used. They could have debited his account. That amount is PayPal account. The bank went ahead and took that dispute back. They could have taken the money out of his account and made his account negative. They also could have suspended his account and say, "You can't use PayPal until you pay us back." Instead, they did all that to me. The entire time, they called and asked for my statement, I told them everything, and they just had no care in the world for it. Fast forward to today, I'm trying to get my banking statements. Customer service is sending me to collections. Collections is sending me to customer service. They won't give me my tax documents until I pay that $1,600 for their mistake. And I'm just livid about it. I just don't understand why they cannot just give me my statements no less...

I relied on PayPal to provide me with secure funds and protect me from chargebacks. When the buyer filed a dispute with his credit card issuer a few months later, the card issuer found in favor of the buyer, and PayPal removed the money from my account. My granddaughter wanted $, texted me a photo of her PayPal QR code. I dropped the photo into my computer then scanned the QR code back to my iPhone. Using PayPal's app I sent her the $. Immediately in my PayPal acct, activity, I get a payment request from Rosalind for $1499. The message had a link under her name to a screen to call this # if you don't know "Rosalind". I call that number, go through a tel tree, then 10 min hold before I hang up. I go back and figure out (info found on internet, not via PayPal help) that I need to cancel Rosalind's PayPal request. Do this. I don't use PayPal much, weird that Rosalind's request for $1499 came right after sent granddaughter $ via her alleged PayPal QR code.

Long story, short: I'm not sure granddaughter's QR code legit because it looks different than PayPal QR code my PayPal app generated. Situation with girl and mother a mess. Web says QR codes with malicious code rising because you scan the hack into your phone. Paypal text, voice, emails at first a no-go because I cancelled Rosalind's $ request. (Paypal's algorithm not finding anything.) After repeated emails, PayPal said Rosalind's message into my PayPal acct (it hit there first, then I got a "PayPal" email, then spam calls) was randomly generated by scammers and when I called the number message said to call I said to scammer "genuine person and PayPal acct."

Worse, the PayPal messages in my acct activity and in email are inherently conflicting, call this number if person unknown to you (phishing) but apparently this triggers scammers you are real. I got "spam" calls 3 times from apparently large call centers in India. (Does or not - Paypal call you??) The 2nd I listen to without speaking: "Hello, hello, hello, my name, name, name ... finally if you want to talk about PayPal request, call us back."

There are possibly 3 scams here: PayPal claiming the Rosalind hit was random (Nope, too coincidental, came right after I sent granddaughter her $ via "PayPal" QR code); the QR code problem (I emailed it to PayPal phishing address, asking legit or not, PayPal 0 response.); how Rosalind's $1499 request made it into my PayPal activity acct (PayPal says their emails, i.e. people's accts are open source on web, I guess for perusing by the dark web?) So if you think you're communicating with PayPal, think again - how do you know? I removed all bank info from PayPal, will probably delete PayPal acct, changed passwords, etc.

I have had two different disputes with PayPal over the last couple of years, which both ended in the seller's getting to keep my money. I have an email from the seller stating "I will refund you as soon as possible" and PayPal considers this to be too vague to use in my defense. I was told if I had an actual date of refund process or some other confirmation number, then they could force the refund, Otherwise, it doesn't matter that I have emails asking for my refund from the seller.

Then when I told them how awful this process is and that I don't think I will use them in the future because they seem pro-seller and don't seem to care what evidence I have, the agent gets really snotty with me. The agent, both times got heated with me and told me to go ahead and take my sales somewhere else because no one else would have given me a refund either. I told them that credit cards would have helped me and was told credit cards don't process refunds either - what a joke. I have never had a credit card screw me over like PayPal has when I have either not received an item, or gotten an item that isn't as described. I would not trust PayPal to help you if you order something and pay with their service. You will have to accept the item, even if it's complete junk or damaged, or even if the seller tells you that you will get a refund.

I made 3 payments towards it and had it scheduled for October 3. He didn't show and would not return messages. A week of no answer and I disputed it with PayPal but had to do each payment as a separate dispute so I provided all the evidence I had to each one. PayPal refunded me two payments but made the 3rd one in the seller's favor. I went to their message center and started trying to figure out why they would decide two of three in my favor when all are for the same single service they could see crystal clear that I didn't receive. This is where it has gotten extremely frustrating.

First they told me that I received the items to which I stated that there were not items to receive as it was a labor service I was disputing. Next they told me it's because my payment to him was through Facebook Pay which I then explained all 3 were and they refunded me the other 2 already so it doesn't make sense. They told me that it was due to a lack of evidence which I told them it was the same evidence provided for all 3 payments. I uploaded the same identical emails, invoice, and receipt stating service not rendered yet for all 3 and it got me two payments refunded. They told me the seller provided proof that items were delivered and again it's not items but a service and I looked the seller up and he has been incarcerated since the end of October so I doubt he's been responding to emails.

This was a cut and dry case for their "purchase protection." I didn't realize that $150 is enough to break PayPal. They just keep providing me circular arguments so I'm apparently not getting what they state they cover which is incredibly irritating. They are only protecting themselves not the regular consumer. I have been going through a financial hardship and needed assistance from family to pay my rent. On November 24th my friend wired me 1000 to my PayPal account. PayPal accepted my money and placed it on hold. I advised my apartment that the money was on hold, and would give them it when PayPal released it. PayPal released the funds on December 12, 2022. I paid the 15 dollars to have it immediately transferred 956.53 to my bank account. A bank I have been working with for over 14 years without any issues. I received a confirmation email from PayPal app giving me a confirmation number. I called my bank thinking they may have put the money in a hold. The bank stated that they had not received any deposits for me and to check back.

The following day I checked back and still nothing had been transferred. I sent a message to PayPal stating what had happened and did not receive any information back. I called PayPal and stayed on the phone for 30 minutes waiting for someone to pick up. I explained the issue, and was transferred to three other associates, who all stated the money was transferred and to call the bank. I did call the bank back and confirmed with ACH that no money had been transferred. I called after emailing PayPal with no response. The associate transferred me to a supervisor who stated he would escalate the claim and that someone would reach out to me. As per his request I sent him a copy of my bank statement showing that the money had not been transferred.

I received a message from PayPal stating that they had tracked the money and that I should contact the bank. I called the bank and spoke again with ACH and gave them the tracking number, they stated the tracking number I was given did not exist and to call PayPal. I have called and messaged PayPal and my bank over 26 times in regards with every single call being transferred again. Today December 22, 2022 after calling PayPal and again told to call the bank I received a email from customer service stating they had given me the wrong trace number, and to call the bank with the new trace number. I called and again that trace number did not exist.

The money which is still unaccounted for was supposed to pay a late rent to have the eviction removed. Since the money disappeared I have been unable to pay rent, and was evicted with my three children today December 22, 2022. I still have not received any information from PayPal and not received my money totaling 956.53. The incompetence of the customer service and lack of empathy responsibility of this company is unacceptable.

I would not trust Paypal to do anymore large transactions from this point forward. I purchased an oxygen machine through Paypal so that I knew that I would be protected if the company I was buying from was to try to scam me. They did in fact scam me and sent me a broken machine for almost $500 - the whole time promising me in several emails that they were not overseas - they specifically told me they were in Arizona. When I tried to return the package they made me jump through ridiculous hoops (had to send several videos of the machine not working to PayPal and Varon) only to hand over the money to the oxygen machine scammers (Varon) in the end.

I spent an additional $100 to the Post Office to send it back to China where Paypal instructed me to send it and then when they refused it in China and it was returned to me, Paypal sent them the money and closed the case saying that I didn't provide good enough proof that they had rejected it - I even sent pictures and video of the return labels where it said that the recipient refused delivery. I was scammed $600 altogether and Paypal not only allowed it, they were the cause of at least the $100 postage I had to pay with their promise I would get my money back. I do not recommend trusting Paypal. I know I never will again.

Well I went to confirm my bank with them but they banned my account even after I told them about my brain injury & PTSD which was sustained while I was deployed. What happened is that I forgot to change the name on my account when I tried verifying banking information which are in different sections on their website while confirming information. I seriously hope PayPal gets blacklisted by the US military like President Joe Biden blacklisted Tesla (clearly that business is on it since they didn't get invited to the EV Summit.) I've seen blacklisted businesses and it's not based on the BBB ratings, it's based off military members' experiences & their willingness to work with active duty members. If PayPal wants to lead the way as a financial giant they gotta take a lesson from real bankers.

Will not be using them ever in the future even if I changed banks, emails, cell phone numbers. Nope, their lack of understanding with veterans who are brain injured like myself is sickeningly racist towards disabled people. The case was closed even after I provided medical documentation for my medical situations. They're not a military friendly nor disabled people friendly business. And they're holding my financial information hostage forever in my profile which hackers can easily attain. AVOID PAYPAL AT ALL COSTS, THE HEADACHE AIN'T WORTH IT.

Paypal supports fraud and I've got all the receipts. I am a paypal consumer and seller. This experience is from a Seller's perspective who pays fees for the protection Paypal alleges it offers. On October 5th a customer placed an order and received her file. I have download records showing she downloaded the file. Four hours after she purchased, she filed a dispute stating she didn't receive the file. I provided proof she did, but also attached the file to my response with Paypal. So Paypal literally saw the file given to her. I also reached out to her, resent her original email and link as well as attached the physical file itself again. The fraudster didn't respond when she realized she was caught.

I reached out to Paypal and informed them that this was a fraudulent dispute and I'd like her reported. They said to escalate the claim so they could investigate her and close in my favor. I escalated it on October 11 and almost instantly they responded that they decided to close in the BUYERS FAVOR, but refund her out of their account and close the dispute so she could have the file for free. Now, this cost me nothing in terms of money, but it did cost me a week's worth of headaches going back and forth, getting download records, screenshots and emails in order to abide by Paypal's seller terms. It wasn't about the money at that point--it was the principle that they allowed someone to violate their terms of service and then be unjustly enriched. They failed to support their seller who follows all the rules and went above and beyond to ensure they had all the evidence they needed.

I called and recorded that conversation with Paypal. Paypal's rep admitted the evidence showed the customer received the file but that it was a fairly low purchase amount so they just closed it in her favor anyway. She said that's just how they deal with lower dollar disputes. The disputer gets the money and the item for free. DISGUSTING. She said they understood my concerns but that was how they do things. THAT'S HOW THEY DO THINGS? They facilitate fraud? Support it, even! So I told them they lost a seller. I won't do business with a company that supports or facilitates fraud. I removed Paypal from my website and they haven't even responded to my concerns. Awful company that should be investigated for facilitating fraud.

I tried to dispute it while it was in the pending stage, but PayPal wouldn't allow that. Anyway, on 8/6/22 I filed a dispute stating I was unaware of any transaction with this merchant or this amount. My claim sat UNTOUCHED for over 3 weeks, at which point they requested more information about the item in question - somewhat difficult since I had no idea what the charge was for. Over a series of days, I went through the PayPal House Of Mirrors - phone tree - disconnections - delays - unfulfilled promises, something I see many others experienced. It is a system devised to frustrate the injured party to the point of giving up.

I was finally given a provisional credit and then, yesterday, I received notice the claim had been denied. After the usual difficulties, I reached a supervisor who was, at best rude and not very bright. I asked for any information regarding the product, the seller, delivery - ANYTHING. I was told in no uncertain terms I was entitled to nothing and they would give me nothing. Seems fair - if you're in Russia. I'm filing a series of complaints and don't expect anything. Corrupt organizations like PayPal, clothed in a cloak of legitimacy, are the worst. Oh yeah, the charge showed "in store purchase" - I was in the hospital.

Had they bothered asking or reading my messages they would have learned I am a victim of Identity Theft. It's been difficult to try to get my life back after such an invasion. I would have thought that as a long time customer in good standing they would have at least returned my messages. I tried to close my account and it wouldn't even do that. They said I could look at my account whenever I wanted but I couldn't send or receive money! I believe that is the point of PayPal. There are plenty of apps I can use and they will be glad to have my business. PayPal does not appreciate my business nor do they reward a person for loyalty. Not the kind of people I care to do business with. No transparency. No open communication. They deserve a minus 1 star.

Paypal HAS NO Buyer Protection!! Paypal is a scammer's friend.!!! I ordered a processor at EBAY that costs a total of 3500 USD. Thinking that Paypal has a buyer's protection they have been advertising throughout the years. The scammer (from China) sent the items to different addresses (I tracked it via Fedex) to make it appear that the item was delivered. I filed a complaint to Paypal 9 times and my request to get the refund was denied twice by the Paypal customer service and managers.

How come they did the scammer get my money by just like that? I've been a paypal customer for 12 years and I've closed it right away because of my frustrations. I am glad eBay dumped Paypal because Paypal is a scammer's friend. It is easy to track that the item was delivered intentionally to the wrong address but they did not do an investigation at all. I urge everybody to stop using Paypal because they have not helped me at all in any transanctions over the course of 12 long years. Please avoid Paypal. Paypal is a big scam. As a company whose primary business is managing money, security should be their top concern. Their website claims that it is. However, it is not possible to get in contact with a live person at PayPal to report identity theft outside of the 6 am - 6 pm PST timeframe. My son received a notification that his PayPal account had been hacked. He tried to access his account, and also change his password - but no luck. Since it was 10 pm CST, no one was available on the customer service line. He and I both looked for over an hour for a way to contact PayPal in emergency situations (i.e. someone draining your bank account through PayPal), but found nothing.

There is also no way to lock the account electronically if you can't get in to it, which is the case if the account has been stolen. As someone who works in Information Technology for a Fortune 500 company, and is very familiar with the type of threats constantly being received from hackers, this is completely unacceptable from a security standpoint.

The subscription ended within days. The seller never responded to my messages. I reported fraud to PayPal with all supporting details, including proof of purchase, item description and non-responsive messages. Thanks to PayPal's robotic service, PayPal asked me to return the item and send the shipping tracking ID. It was clear to me there was no human interaction up to that point.

I explained the item was a digital subscription and there was no shipment to return. They rejected my claim. I reached out to customer support to have a human interaction to explain the fraud. They re-opened my claim and rejected it again a day after saying "your purchase is not covered under our user agreement". The seller must be laughing out loud and praising his "user agreement" with PayPal. I have read reviews from the seller that their customers are cheating them with fake returns. Instead of helping genuine sellers, PayPal started favoring sellers. Fraud or not. PayPal was great until I contacted customer support. That was my last transaction with PayPal. Today, I had difficulty logging into my PayPal account. This was because, after I entered my email and password, I was directed to a screen stating that a security screening was necessary. There were only two (2) options for this screening: call or text. Either would be to a phone number I used in a different province, that has been out of service for approximately five (5) years. Therefore, I was unable to log into my account.

I promptly phoned customer service, with the notion of changing the phone number for the security screening. When I spoke to an agent, I provided all information they asked for. I was then told that my account could not be "fully validated" without the full address I had when I created my PayPal account. I gave them my current address, as well as both addresses I had when I had the expired phone number mentioned above. For one of the addresses, I had to dig through my email for a lease renewal from 2013. None of these matched their system.

I asked if there was any other information I could give: date of birth, SIN, and I even jokingly offered to share my blood type. No, the agent said, the system is asking for the full address when you created the account. I asked if they had access to anyone who could override the system request. The answer was no. This was despite, as I reminded them, that this is an e-commerce company. I am now permanently unable to log into my PayPal account. I would say I will never use your services again due to this incredibly unhelpful customer service, but in truth, that does not matter. This has caused me to incur a large amount of insufficient bank fees and the account will not close now as a result of their poor actions.

The seller completely misrepresented the product and PayPal agree with them that they should not refund my purchase price. What is wrong with these people?

I recently ordered a windmill from an online source. It eventually came from China and turned out to be an overpriced piece of junk that was poorly constructed and didn't work! It came with a small card that said " Complaint-Suggestion& Refund, Paypal and credit card takes time. Contact us: service@replygres.com Saving you time and offer you VIP service. " Turns out this site was marked as a spam site! (go figure!!). I pulled up my PayPal account and literally in less than 5 minutes had my $59.95 refunded to my credit card. Paypal's site was easy to use and certainly worthy of me taking the time to honor them with a 5 star rating!

I have now twice have been scammed on PayPal and they say they cannot help me. I try to send money to a friend I have sent money before. When I want to send money again, I type the name of the friend in to send and my friend's name would come up and I will send him the money. My friend would then inform me they did not receive the money. I then find out that although it was the name of my friend the money went to a different email address and account. PayPal says they cannot help me as I have sent money to friends and family.

I have been wondering if it's perhaps a clever internal employee manipulating my account for the name of my friend to come up and then for the money to go to a different account as PayPal can give me no explanation how this could happen I cannot not get hold of the different account holder through PayPal as I am blocked to send a message. Up to now I have just lost the money. The last amount was £669. I am devastated and very upset because PayPal does not even try to help. PayPal should do better to protect their clients.

I was in the process of searching items in BISSELL website. If you use PayPal, it will not give you the chance to review the order and will automatically process the purchase as stated. BISSELL did not send any email with the transaction. I contacted them within 30 minutes through their web texting service asking for cancellation. They canceled but did not refund me. Contacted them again, said it will take two weeks to process my claim. I contacted PayPal. They have a bizarre claim form in which you have to enter each item information separately, does not account for taxes. Cumbersome, but at the end total amount matched the purchase.

They ended up sending claim for an arbitrary amount lower than the purchase I made, and closed the case and now they tell me to take it up with my bank…? After going back and forth, they gave me credit in PayPal for the remaining of the amount, which is not a satisfactory resolution for a purchase/immediate cancellation that never should have happened, all due to their errors. Bizarre. Stay away from BISSELL. Good luck with filing claims with PayPal.

Sorry for the typos and grammar below. But keep reading. You will be amused. I have used PayPal since 2003 to conduct my business (mostly as a buyer) in honest ways and never run into disputes or cases until yesterday. So, I can't say much about PayPal customer service until I really need it now. And here you go my story of haggling with PayPal CS for 8 hours today. In a word, it is shameful, frustrating and utterly unacceptable. I feel I talked to a bunch of robots and treated like a criminal. Buyer's Guilty until proven innocent.

I ordered a digital camera and lens bundle from an online seller. We communicated through emails and made agreements on price, PayPal G&S payment method and signature required shipping method. I carefully crafted the invoice description for the seller with all details of items, conditions, contents and, specifically, the last sentence stating "payment fees and signature required service included in invoice amount and the seller will ship within two calendar days". I thought the invoice is thorough enough and I should be easily covered by 'buyer protection'. BUT I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG!

On Thursday, March 31, 2022, I received a PayPal invoice from the seller with exact invoice amount and description I crafted. I made immediate payment. Then, next day on Saturday I followed up the seller on shipping timeline. The seller replied at late night and provided me a UPS tracking number. He claimed he already shipped it me. By clicking on his tracking number, I immediately noticed something unusual.

First, the shipping does not have signature required service as stated in invoice. Second, the package is coming from New Castle, DE as opposed to San Diego, CA where his ad was listed for. The tracking shows ETA on April 7th, next Thursday. So, I emailed the seller to ask for explanations. Of course, no replies. I thought Ok, let me give him a benefit of doubt and see what comes in the package. I was preparing to videotape the process of opening the package in case I won't receive what I ordered. But I was thinking too ahead.

In Sunday morning on April 3rd, my phone alerted me an email from PayPal saying Seller uploaded a tracking number. I logged in and noticed it is a DIFFERENT tracking number than the one he provided to me at Friday night. This new tracking shows the package has been shipped from Los Angeles, CA on April 1st and DELIVERED to my city (a LA suburb) on April 2nd. We all know UPS tracking won't show recipient name and exact address but only the city it delivered to for privacy protections.

So, I know right away this is a scam because no package showed up on Saturday at my doorstep while I was at home all day. And again the shipping shows 'driver release at front door'. So I opened a dispute within an hour and provided all my email conversation with the seller, the link and the screenshot of his ads, and my summary of obvious inconsistencies (different origins with different tracking numbers, etc.) for this transaction. PayPal resolution center updated the case by saying they have contacted the seller and waited for response.

On Monday, April 4th, I got another email from PayPal saying seller provided a response of a simple 16 letter UPS tracking number without an extra word. The same one he already entered into PayPal the day before which exactly prompted me file the case. So, nothing new. The seller simply implied the package was already delivered to me. I reached out to PayPal online chat to follow up the case. An agent 'warmly' first great me as 19-yr customer and then assured me they will protect buyers from scams. A few minutes I got an email from PayPal saying my case is CLOSED and they sided with the seller because he showed 'proof of delivery' with a 'valid' tracking number. That made me doubt if anybody from resolution center ever even read my response and supporting documents I logged the day before.

In my response, I stated multiple times why I think the package is fake. One glaring evidence is UPS website shows the package only weighs 0.6 LB. The simplest mind on the planet earth knows an empty shipping box itself could weigh that much. A camera and lens with original boxes and accessories clearly in invoice description should weigh at least 5 LB. Yes, I mentioned this multiple times in my several responses. But PayPal resolution center staff just turned blind eyes to what I submitted. They sided with one single tracking number from a scammer (I doubt he is with PayPal for long) against a full suite of supporting documents from a 19-yr customer.

I got back to CS online chat again. And that's worst part of PayPal CS to begin. First of all, nobody would reply to you at real time. The chat app will tell you PayPal will email you with an alert whenever an (any) agent managed to reply to your message. Email alerts for online chat? Have you heard of such a thing? So, for next few hours most of time I was typing to thin air. Once in a while, an agent come to say 'oh, UPS shows proof of delivery.' Then copy and paste their 'policies' and asked me to "prove" I did not receive the package but ignoring the fact that the seller violated binding contract of 'signature required service' in PayPal invoice (They don't care because their policies did not say look into invoices). Then a couple of hours later, another agent took the baton and obviously did not bother to read what I said to other agents before and goes again 'oh, UPS shows proof of delivery, we can't help'...on and on and on.

I was so fed up. So, I called customer service number which PayPal hide it very well until I clicked through several support pages to find it. Ironically, they have prime locations of their website full of services they want you to pay for, PayPal Credit, Send/Request money, and of course ads like 'free 3-month spotify', etc. etc. Finally, I had a chance to talk to a real agent over the phone. Her name is 'France'. She was willing to listen. But she could not assist further but promise to escalate the issue to her supervisor.

I told her to have someone read my initial response in resolution center to begin with and I stressed serval points below.

    1) UPS tracking only show the destination city. Not with my name or address to be precise (of course for privacy concerns). So, it is not a proof of delivery TO ME. It is a poof of a delivery to an address in my city. My city is a small neighbour in Los Angeles suburb with 56,000 household. So, the UPS tracking shows the chance of delivery to my address is 1 out of 56,000. and 2) The package only weighs 0.6 LB. It is impossible with a camera and lens in it wherever it is delivered anyway. Please use some common sense.

While I was in talk to France on the phone, another "supervisory level" online agent messaged to me and asked me to contact UPS to find out exact shipping address the package was delivered to before she can assist further. I was like... wait a minute, everyone knows UPS, or whatever carriers, will only respond to the loss package claim and search results to shippers (who paid the postage) not receivers. They will never release exact shipping address to whoever claim to be an receiver for just providing a tracking number. I replied to the agent 'Should be it be PayPal's job to verify shipping address with the seller/scammer rather than buyer/me'? Dead silence for another hour, no replies.

After I got off the call, I thought let me go extra mile to contact UPS to see what they can provide. So, I filed a lost package claim first on UPS website. Minutes later an email from UPS confirmed my inquiry. The email did not show shipping address, HOWEVER, it showed recipient's name in 'ship to' section. And it was NOT my name. I took a screenshot of UPS email and pasted to PayPal online chat. Sometime later another (yeah, another... I lost the count how many already) agent messaged me back saying just the name is not enough proof. I need to email or call UPS for the exact address.

Just to see what I can confirm with UPS I called and a lady answered the call. I explained my situation and she said she has friends running exactly same issues with PayPal lately. She feels sympathetic to me. I told her 'I understand you should not release the shipping address. But could you confirm the shipping address and name was not mine'. So, I read my name and address to her. Her response is definitely no. It was not mine. She guided me through UPS website and compose an online email so I can get a confirmation from UPS in email saying 'this package was delivered to my address'. Then I can present to PayPal to prove that scammer provided a fake tracking number of my transaction.

I went to back online chat and update my findings. The agent insisted I should wait for UPS email reply and then paste it to her for further assist. The haggling started from 10 am. This was about 4 pm in the afternoon already. There I was exploded. I told her I have not only done enough due diligence, as a customer. But I have done detective work for PayPal as well. PayPal refused to do its own work but simply dump on me to defend myself as a scammer.

My take is PayPal is only interested in keeping transaction fees without offering buyer protections with glaring evidence of a scam. I will preserve all my communications with PayPal and submit complaints about PayPal Business Practices to BBB, CFPB, FDIC, and whatever government agencies applicable, for its negligence of financial crimes and frauds. Then, I told the agent I will stop right here and don't bother to continue robotic talk. Around 5:30 all of sudden I got an email from PayPal saying my case is close and I got a refund? I have no idea which line of my battle won. Phone call or online chat. Then I got a missed call from PayPal. I returned but robot answered. At the end of day I won the case after an uphill battle while Paypal lose a 19-yr customer forever.

When I tried to accelerate the process, their services aren't working properly saying it has technical problems. I contacted them, and they told me it was on my end. Being a developer, I could point out exactly where the error was coming from with the developer tools, as I have to debug applications when they aren't working properly myself: error("Can't perform a React state update on an unmounted component. This " + 'is a no-op, but it indicates a memory leak in your application. To ' + 'fix, cancel all subscriptions and asynchronous tasks in %s.', tag === ClassComponent ? 'the componentWillUnmount method' : 'a useEffect cleanup function');

With knowing that the errors wasn't on my side but on theirs, they said they simply couldn't help me. What I assume is that they keep this money from you, which by the way, doesn't belong to them by any stretch of imagination, in order to move it in the market, to gain more value. Almost a month holding on to money it isn't theirs? Sounds criminal.

(The conversion shouldn't have to be my problem, it's literally your entire job?) I'm currently waiting on an agent to answer me (second time I've had to contact them this week), just to be able to transfer MY money from the PayPal wallet to my bank account (why are they withholding my very own funds?) and I only have a few hours to do so since my rent is due. Now I'm going to be stressing all the way up until midnight (and let's face it, they still won't have done anything by then because the employees are absolutely powerless). Deleting my account as soon as they resolve my issue. Waste of time and energy.

Customer claims she didn't receive one of the items. Customer said her neighbor accepted the package and then given to her at a later time. So, there's proof of delivery from UPS. Why are we held responsible what a neighbor did with the package? PayPal says that customer will ship items back. Customer was not even claiming the jeans. We receive only the USED jeans back. No faja. PayPal awards all funds back to customer.

We had proof and submitted the proof of the chat with the customer. Photos of delivery. Photos of item returned. Photo proof of the weight of the package which totals the amount of both items. Conclusion, We lost the item and the money because PayPal awarded buyer. Explain to me with all the proof and text conversation with customer how they can take sides with them? I immediately removed PayPal from our Shopify payments. It's obvious they are not even trying to help the seller with small businesses. Customers who take advantage of the system know this. If you're a seller, just look at your record of claims against you and where they are coming from. More than likely PayPal. PayPal is not good.

They said "You've been a great member all these years so we don't want you to have to wait for a reply and refund from the vendor. Just keep the product and we will give you a special offer of the $92.37 you paid to make other purchases through paypal." So on Feb 5, 2022 I made an online purchase in the amount of $93.35 using the $92.37 special offer and putting the remaining 98 cents on my credit card. Then Home depot called me saying they didn't have one of the products worth $31.24 so would credit back that. So .98 cents was credited back to my credit card by Home Depot and the paypal account showed and still shows $30.26 to special offer but it never appeared at checkout to be used.

Several phone calls with a phone call in February with supervisor saying "we will escalate this. You will hear by Tuesday from us (4 days)" but got no response. Called on March 4 again and got "We are still investigating this. Call back in a week if you don't hear from us." Been out of town so called today March 24, 2022 as had heard nothing. Gave the rep the case number and he said "How do you know the case number is from us (paypal?)" Um, huh? Then, get the answer, "this voucher is already expired. It was for one time use only." So I am out now the $30.26 and have a product I cannot use and had to purchase the correct one from a different vendor back in February when I had a deadline for it.

I should have called my credit card to ask for a refund which they always have promptly done without issue. Instead I get a sugar sweet "you are such a good customer, here's what we are going to do for you" from paypal only to get too bad they didn't have the product you can't get something else even though we never paid it to Home Depot, we'll just take back our offer and resolution. I am canceling my paypal account and using other methods to pay for things. I made hundreds of dollars of purchases on my credit card through paypal since this incident while it was "under investigation" by paypal which I wish I hadn't if I had known they would not give a proper and full refund. As it was when the vendor did contact me she wanted me to send back the product ($25. shipping back) and split the $25. shipping for the correct product when she made the mistake not me!

Paypal has locked me out of my account DESPITE being of age. As everyone knows, PayPal has rules and regulations you have to follow to use its services. And if they think something is wrong, they'll just limit your account without warning. I have had my PayPal account permanently limited due to being "underage." But the thing is I am a legal adult. All of my information was entered in correctly, I've proved my age by providing my license and birthday, and I've even made sure before creating the account in the first place.

According to customer service, the service lady on the phone told me it had something to do with my Social Security Number. It made little sense to me because my SSN was entered in properly, but somehow that was the reason why I was deemed underage. Once your account is perma-limited, your funds are withheld and you cannot delete your account. So even if you wanted to make a new PayPal with the same email, it will not give you the option. It's ridiculous that you cannot delete your account or fix these issues due to the limitation. It's safe to say that I will NEVER be using PayPal's services until they fix these issues and allow people to actually delete/fix their accounts instead of handing people permanent limitations.

I have used PayPal since 2001. I have never had a single problem with them. I am writing this review to let people know that you CANNOT use an Overlay Blocker on your computer when you want to add money from your bank account to your PayPal account. The Overlay Blocker blocks the page you need to use to add money. It took a while to finally figure that one out. That was not the fault of PayPal. I will continue to use it for my online purchases.

I filed two (2) separate claims with Pay Pal, on the same date, regarding 2 separate transactions, valuing $159.43 and $49.47. I, like millions of others, get a ton of emails a day and important emails that wrongly get sent to SPAM. Important emails can be missed because of this. So, why would PayPal only allow EMAIL as their only method of reaching out to claimants (NO SMS option)? On top of that, they only send (1) email notice that you MUST take an additional step if you want PayPal to move forward with your claim, and then they close it only 3 days later!

I was unaware of the possibility of this "extra" that might be needed in order to "escalate" my claims before PayPal would actually do anything. This feels like a tactic PayPal uses to "do the least", a loophole of sorts. It is clear that claimants WANTS PAYPAL TO ESCALATE by intervening when companies don't respond or automatically resolve our issue based on PayPal's initial contact--THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON WE INITIATE CLAIMS!

Seeing that this required action is so critical and will make/break our claim, PayPal is adding insult to injury to its patrons by ONLY sending a single email only notice regarding our need to escalate, they don't care if we saw the notice, and don't allowing any real time for us to respond even if we had seen it. By not responding by a certain date, they closed both my claims. By the time I realized I hadn't heard from PayPal and checked the status, both claims were closed, without resolution, AND it was then too late for me to file disputes with my credit card, and these were companies that were non-responding and one unwilling to give me more than 10% my claims.

*For such critical notices, PayPal needs to have the option for us to SELECT SMS CORRESPONDENCE. MOST people have their phones glued to their hands and will never miss a text; those very people often miss emails. At the very least, Or PayPal should at least send SEVERAL notices to claimants when further action is needed to escalate/continue a claim. It's bad business. I lost a lot of money on those 2 purchases (one was an outright fraudulent advertiser, and the other item has just never arrived after 3 months of waiting).

I have been using PayPal for quite a while. They advertise a 'PayPal Buyer Protection Plan' to allegedly protect their customers from fraudulent sellers. DON'T BELIEVE IT. Just take the time to read the 'one star' reviews like this one. They all true. I purchased two items from what turned out to be a fraudulent seller using the copied LL Bean site. I attempted to cancel the transaction and of course, never heard from the seller. I then filed a claim with PayPal. The purchase was not a significant amount ($49), but after a week of 'investigating,' PayPal came back and claimed the seller offered me $1 (yes one dollar) to drop the claim. Honestly, I was far more disturbed with PayPal than the fraudulent seller. That's their Buyer Protection Plan! So think twice about using PayPal. I'm still deciding if they are more of a fraud than the Chinese fraud!

I used this service to pay to my Ecuadorian friend for Spanish lessons. She only received money from me. Later she tried to get cash out - there was a middle man who fooled her. She complained that she was robbed to PayPal service and they blocked her for fraudulent activity. This is really interesting - the person loses her money and PayPal blocks her instead of a scammer. That is why the chances are there are people in PayPal who support scammers and block their victims.

I tried to contact customer service and explain the situation - and they even did not set up the website properly, it is stuck when I try to report a problem. They just do not care. When I decided to close my account - they proposed to contact support - and the link did not work as well. Well done, PayPal :) I got one more angry client. Do not recommend. Plus the fees are pretty high.

I used PayPal to pay for a purchase from PHOR4. The order was cancelled and never shipped. PayPal did not pay the vendor nor refunded me. I disputed the charges with my credit card, used to fund PayPal but it was denied based on PayPal's answer. They said it was delivered. I use the UPS tracking and it says a label was printed but never used. I lost $58.90 and still fighting to get it back.

I recently purchased 2 knives from an advertisement online for the Huusk brand through PAYPAL. I purchased these knives based on claims it was hand made using highest quality stainless steel and super sharp. "Each Huusk knife is carefully crafted using a 138-step design and goes through rigorous testing before every shipment" (quote from their website). What I received was totally not what was advertised and I immediately contacted the company and after 2 emails went unanswered I reached out to PAYPAL and had a dispute file opened.

After a few emails back and forth I decided to go online to find out more about this company that actually was situated in Lithuania and the knives were not stainless but iron and mass produced in a China Factory. I supplied all the proof necessary with links and images of reviews and websites confirming that I was in fact defrauded with my purchase and after waiting the required period of time I was advised that my dispute for a full refund denied by PAYPAL in favor of the company. This made it quite obvious that PAYPAL was more concerned about the revenue generated by this company than protecting the consumer who has a legitimate case for a full refund by misleading advertising. I won't be in a hurry to use PAYPAL in the future.

PayPal is the worst company in the financial market with the most fraudulent transactions. PayPal's claim process is 100% biased towards the sellers in the transaction even if they are known to be fraudulent-sellers, they do not vet their sellers as being valid especially when dealing with China /international, have poor customer service. Buyer beware when using PayPal, I will never use them again and have closed my account.

PayPal's claim process is 100% biased towards the buyers in the transaction even if they are known to be fraudulent buyers. Good luck getting any of the idiots that work for PayPal's customer service department to even understand what your issue is with a claim. As a merchant, you are much better off accepting any form of payment from customers other than PayPal. All the credit card banks have a real claims process that will objectively review the situation. PayPal does not care about merchants and will always find in favor of the buyers.

We bought an electric tea kettle at The Home Depot online. The one we received started leaking one month into usage. I contacted the manufacturer directly who told me in an email to continue using the leaking kettle. Then I opened a dispute on PayPal, they gave Home Depot one month to reply. After 30 days, they finally told me if I sent the kettle back, they would refund me the full price. Paypal gave me 3 days to reply. However, they didn't provide me with a return address.

I tried to explain that in the dispute, but I guess no one really reads them because after 3 days they closed my case saying I didn't respond within the allotted time frame. I had to reach out to PayPal again to reopen my case explaining that I had no address where to return the item. They reopened my case, sent me the address, and again gave me only 3 days to respond. I returned the item immediately and now saw that The Home Depot has another 30 days to respond. This is ridiculous. I was told I would receive my refund immediately after returning the item, but am to this day still waiting.
