It was extremely difficult to close my Paypal account and Paypal Credit account even after I experienced fraud. Someone was charging the credit card connected to the Paypal account. Even though Paypal notified me of fraudulent activities, I got the run around when I requested to close both accounts. I still gave Paypal a high rating because I previous had no problems using the service. Users should be careful connecting their credit or debit card and Paypal should make it a simple process to close an account.

The one star is for ease of paying. I haven't experienced any issues with vendors when paying with PayPal until recently. After purchasing a product, I noticed there was an additional charge to my PayPal account that was not on my receipt. I disputed the extra charge with PayPal and supplied them with my receipt. A few days later, PayPal notified me that my claim was denied. They said they contacted the vendor and the vendor said the extra charge is legitimate.
I called PayPal, and the call taker agreed it looked like fraud to him, so he forwarded me to a supervisor. The supervisor came on the phone but quickly hung up after learning the reason for my call. I waited 45 minutes for the supervisor and eventually hung up. I called the next day and was told a supervisor won't speak with me. Fortunately, the credit card company quickly recoginzed it as fraud and reimbursed me. Of course, I deleted my account and will never use PayPal again. They obviously protect the sellers.

Have been a customer for many years but just had my first dispute which the seller agreed not to contest. Paypal set a date of 30 days for resolution. But, I then learned I must also file a "claim" which adds 30 more days. Paypal customer support is 100% offshore and not close to being competent in English. It turns out, they don't have to comprehend English as they have a script they must follow. Even with documentation from the seller that they agree to a refund, the claim was denied. Then I had to file an appeal, also denied. The card issuer, Chase, approved and applied the refund on the spot. literally less than 2 minutes.

Had a terrible experience trying to close my PayPal account after receiving a scam email that appeared legitimate. PayPal gave me the runaround for weeks preventing me from closing my account. First they claimed to be investigating. Then they insisted I refund one cent to the scammer. Next they insisted they were refunding the one cent to me and I must put my bank information back in (after having removed it for my own safety). They only closed my account after I contacted the BBB. I took over a month to close my account and was extremely frustrating. I recommend removing your bank information before trying to close your account. Keeping yourself safe is the priority. And Reach out to BBB as soon as they give you trouble.

PayPal has changed over the years and will no longer protect consumers from fraud charges. Classmates.com fraudulently charged my PayPal account and PayPal ruled against me and allowed someone that’s been with them since 1999 to get ripped off by a scammer like Classmates. Classmates never replied to emails from me!

I ordered 2 NFL sets. I received fake product and not even the right teams. The shop offered me a refund of 25% of my purchase which I declined and Paypal said I needed to return them to the shop at my expense and blocked me from making from communicating with them anymore.

Been waiting at least 7 months for them to release 485.00. Been on the phone for hours at a time with no success. Even though they sent an email saying it could be released months ago they still won't release it. I wish I could give them 0 stars or less… Much less. Probably at least negative 5 stars.

PayPal has absolutely made my life miserable. My tablet was not charged one day and I used my husband's tablet to check my PayPal. Well, I screwed up and accidentally typed my password incorrectly by one letter and only one time and they locked my account from suspicious activity. Ok, no suspicious activity ever. I never overused my account or had money sent to it very often, but I did have a settlement I was getting ready to receive and I filed to have my settlement payments go to my PayPal because it was supposedly the easiest way to receive my payments.
Anyway, they requested so scan my driver's license front and back, which I did. My license is current, up to date, not expired. It also required I send in a selfie. I completed both requirements using their software as required and in a matter of a few days, they permanently locked my account and won't release the funds I have in my account until March 2026.
How can anyone prove who they are other than send in your state-issued ID and a photo of myself and still be denied the have my account. How can they hold MY money and make my life miserable. I'm taking care of my older brother, that is 63 and has Rectal cancer and is going through chemotherapy and radiation daily. I'm not working and we are barely getting by. I need MY money and now I can get my settlement money. They should be shut down for the way they treat their honest law abiding consumers. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about calling a lawyer and suing them for the stress, aggravation. Stay away if you can, they have the choice of telling you you're not who you are, even with the best proof in the world.

Paypal is stealing from me and my customer. My customer sent a payment to me, which I refunded. So I never recieved the $. They held the $ over 30 days. They haven't refunded the $ back to the customers account plus now they're trying charge me for the $200. They can talk to my attorney.

PayPal should not be allowed to continue to operate. Complaints need to be made to the FTC, Attorney General, Consumer Affairs and BBB. Maybe with enough complaints this company can cease to do business. I received a call claiming they were a Chase Bank representative, but what they were asking me to do seemed suspicious. I called Chase directly and was informed that the call was a scam even though they called from a number that was from a branch in NYC. I then also noticed a fraudulent charge on my PayPal account. I immediately disputed the charge and informed PayPal that the charge was fraudulent and not to allow the transaction to go through. Without even contacting me PayPal decided the charge was legit and released my funds. PayPal needs to be investigated and should have much more protection for its customers not make it easy for scammer.

Trying to get Competent Help from PayPal customer service has become nearly impossible. The people they have employed are in the **, **, etc. I have encountered people WHO CAN'T EVEN SPELL Correctly in English, and cannot Speak fluent English either. They don't know how the PayPal system works either, I know more about the PayPal system than most of the people I have spoke with in the Help center. It's become an utter Joke...

Every time I make a purchase a single purchase, they will take out three or four amounts from my checking and hold them for excessively long time said in five days, but they did not come out like in 14 days. They have done this to me, but this is the fourth time I buy one item I get charged four times and they say I can’t do anything about it because they’re only pending, but they’re pending for two weeks and my taken out of my account. Try to go to customer service no, they don’t do anything.

PayPal customer service does not speak English in a way that is understandable. PayPal has an automated phone service that will tell you your debt and then if you can get a person on the line they will also tell you your debt. To get a letter stating your account is closed is impossible because the one they email is in an unreadable format. To try and do anything with PayPal besides paying you bill the customer service does not know how to handle anything other than payments. This is the worst place and one of the most expensive to get a loan.

I will never use them again. Customer service is horrible. I ordered an item through PayPal and the shipping address was an address I had 20 years ago. This address had been removed. They were no help. This is not the first time. I am done with PayPal.

I actually give them zero stars. Do not get their credit card or their PayPal Credit. I understand I have made mistakes and they had their reasons the first time but I paid my debts off and haven’t used it in months. I use my credit for a vacation rental. Haven't even made my first payment yet and they drop my credit limit making it where I’ve used a lot of my credit utilization and it dropped my credit score. So thank you PayPal. You should have dropped that credit limit after I paid everything off like you did with the credit card instead of after I used it. I will pay you off next month because that was my plain and I will be getting rid of my PayPal credit because now I have to build my credit back up to where it was in the mid mid to Low 700’s and now I’m in the Mid to Low 600’s. That’s how drastic the drop was. So again thank you again PayPal. Smh.

PayPal sent my payout to the wrong bank account even though I never verified that account. When I disputed they of course sided in their own favor. Their customer service awful. For your own sake never use PayPal.

⭐️ 1-Star Review for PayPal. I’m extremely disappointed with PayPal. They limited my account, yet they continue tracking every purchase, including transactions that aren’t even mine—like gifts or items other people bought. I tried calling customer service several times, but all they do is repeat the same scripted lines. They keep saying that “if someone uses PayPal, we just send you tracking information,” which makes absolutely no sense, because I keep receiving notifications about purchases I never made. What makes it worse is how they deny tracking anything while literally sending me tracking notifications. They can’t explain it, can’t fix it, and don’t seem to care. Honestly, this has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had. Avoid PayPal if you value privacy, clarity, or actual support.

As far as paying, and receiving funds – so far I’ve had a good experience with Paypal - over the past nearly 2 decades. However, one of their “features“ the “buyer protection“ for purchases made from fraudulent sellers seems to be lacking in authenticity. I made a purchase for $78.27 from a company posing as Overstock.com, however it was a fraudulent business out of Hong Kong. Needless to say, the item purchased was never sent – and obviously not received, so I opened a case with Paypal.
Their buyer-protection form indicates that they are reviewing the case and it should be resolved within five days. I have been waiting now for three months. I have made multiple calls to Paypal, waiting on hold for an average of 1/2 hour. Each time, being assured that the case is “under review“ and should be resolved within a week. So far, nothing – and I don’t expect anything at this point. The time I have spent waiting on hold, or trying to converse with their Philippine based “representatives“ has cost me more than the actual claim.

Not that it will do any good as I'm just echoing the frustration, irritation, and overall disgust felt by SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many others and their experiences with "Customer Support" from PayPal. I wanted some help with refunds, specifically the time frame for processing and ultimately receiving. I spoke with 4 different reps on 2 separate calls and got 4 DIFFERENT EXPLANATIONS. NONE of them made sense and when pressed to show me how they applied in the real world they just tripped all over themselves. Unfortunately PayPal is more of a pain in the a** than they are a benefit.

Paypal has sent me well over a dozen useless, irrelevant, unsolicited emails in just the last 7 days! No matter how many times I tell them, they will not stop! I consider this to be harassment, do you? I made the mistake of asking a simple question a week ago which Paypal could answer. I solved the problem myself with zero assistance from Paypal, and now they will not stop pounding me with pointless emails.
The only way I have gotten them to stop in the past is to write a 1-star review each time they send me yet another repetitive message. Eventually, a human being notices and finally stops. BTW, I am shocked to see that anyone finds Paypal to have good security. My account was hacked by a criminal a few years ago, and, although the very large financial loss was rectified, it is my opinion that Paypal's security is atrocious. The only reason I still have an account is that a merchant I deal with refuses to use any other service. But I can assure you, just about every similar service I can find is better than Paypal in every way.

I reached out to PayPal as my package wasn't delivered despite tracking saying it had been. I was told to contact the seller, who ignored me. Then I was told to contact the courier who ignored me. Then PayPal sent me a photo of my delivery claiming it had been left at my front door. The photo clearly showed it had been left out on the grass near the road 80 metres from my house. I never found the package. They refused to help further as this was considered to have been delivered.

PayPal and their sorry customer support service is terrible. Very disappointed and will not use them ever again. I've been waiting for my money that was refunded on 11/2 and it has now been almost 3 weeks and PayPal has not put back into my account and the customer support agents keep repeating their responses like I'm a ** person and when I correct them on their responses they didn't listen to what I was telling them and just repeated over and over and that just escalated the problem. And then they tell you lies saying they are going to help you but do the total opposite and leaves you hanging and not even call back to even check on the status of your call or problem you called about in the first place.. Their fees are stupid and if you people want to go through the frustrations and bullshit with this business then have fun being angry, frustrated and outrage in anger because of their service.

Awful....Paypal sent my cards late, and when they finally sent it someone took my card out of my mail box. I was at home.. so I decided to close my account because it may be compromised. It's been over 10 days and I still haven't been able to close my account.. My advice to anyone who wishes to use paypal... Run the other way and don't look back...

Reached out to Paypal about device not working within 30 days. Was told to reach out to seller first and that I had until 4/26 if I could not come to an agreement. Seller never responded to my emails, so I reached back to PayPal as directed. PayPal then stated it is more than 30 days and they can't help me. Talked to customer service who just said the same thing even though clearly stated to reach out to seller first and I had till 4/26 to get help from paypal.

I have been using PayPal for 20 plus years and am going to cancel my account. I recently purchased an item outside the US and when I received it the item was not what they advertised. So I seeked a refund but after many weeks I asked PayPal to get involved and they refused saying the purchase was greater then 30 days old. That was not true as it took almost 30days to get out of customs. Anyway the claim was denied because of that. The very reason they're in business is to protect the buyer and they completely failed. Do not trust this company!!!

In addition to very high fees and total morons in the help center, I reported a scam supplier using PayPal and they block MY account instead of their scammer supplier. PayPal allows scam suppliers to operate but block innocent consumer accounts. Check out Trustpilot. It's common PayPal practice to allow scammers to operate, but block people who report the thieves. They are more interested in the fees they earn

Warning! I have been a PayPal customer for 12+ years. It used to be a safe way to shop online with confidence, knowing that you could easily dispute a charge. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE. They make it very difficult to file a claim and force you to jump through hoops with documentation. The final straw for me is the fact that they converted my paypal credit account into a credit card (unauthorized). Started charging my subscriptions to the card, so they do not show up in my paypal balance. Then charged me 32 dollars late fee on a 29 dollar missed payment. I AM DONE! CANCELLING PAYPAL! BTW, 1 1/2 hours on customer service calls, hung up on twice.

Horrible service with PayPal. Received an item that was not as described and is unusable. Tried to work out with the Hong Kong Vendor, but did not work. Contacted PayPal, which provided an address for return at MY expense. I did so and provided tracking. They responded that it was invalid, but it was not! I eventually got the envelope back, only to find they had moved which was stamped on the envelope. I provided that info to PayPal, but they still refused to issue a refund. So I lost both the product cost and the shipping—shame on PayPal. A vendor and PayPal scammed me.

Totally agree with every negative review. I was being charged for a monthly "styling" service. Whatever! I disputed the charge with PayPal and the company, and got nothing but scripted answers, no real interaction. Frustrating! I get a refund for one of the charges, but not the other 4. Why? Again, the runaround. Ask for a supervisor, the supervisor just happens to be in a "meeting". I ask for a return phone call. That was 4 days ago! The bogus company charging me has THE WORST reviews as scammers. Copy and pasted the reviews in my dispute. Still nothing! Basically, PayPal does not support their customers and their "Buyer Protection" means nothing as evidenced by my disputes and the obvious siding with the scammers! I used PayPal for purchases because I thought I was protected. Very disappointed! Closing my account!

They no longer say they are for "BUYER PROTECTION", literally just was told that by a high ranking non english speaking manager and told to get my funds through my credit card company. I do not understand how this company stays in business. I used it about a month for a short period and got locked down because I changed bank accounts. 18 days later, no exaggeration, I got back on and did one transaction and nothing else. I was so upset at them I just stopped using it. Fast forward to yesterday, no activity for two weeks and I opened it to use it again and it was locked down again wanting ID verification, my driver's license photo, which I uploaded 3 weeks ago and because I got a new credit card, not associated with PayPal, just a standard card they blocked until I verify that card. No ** way. So I decided to just close it. Well you can’t close it if you have lock down issues. There is no way o will ever do business with them again and I suggest you don't either.

I have been using PayPal for more than 7 years now. My account email (**). I mainly use it to receive funds from a Chinese based Freelance Company that does payments bi-weekly. I have incidents where my PayPal account was limited as some of the transactions were flagged to be fraudulent. However after providing the evidence to these payments and the company's details my account was reinstated and PayPal executives apologized for the inconvenience. After some time, the same thing happened again and I contacted PayPal and they were able to reinstate my account again. Early this month, I received an email from PayPal stating that my account has been put on hold and that I needed to provide more details on some specific transactions. I went ahead and provided the details, my account statement, and National ID so that the hold could be lifted and my account be allowed to transact.
Unfortunately, PayPal went ahead and put my account on permanent limitation. This was very frustrating given that I am still being paid by the same company where I offer my Research and Editing expertise. I wanted to resolve this issue but the response I got was that my account cannot be reinstated yet on the two previous occasions they apologized and said that most accounts are flagged by their bots and the action can always be reversed after doing internal reviews.

This company is being used by scammers, their security is shitty to say the least. Some one used my Paypal account and spent $244. I am pissed and that's is an understatement. How do you have such shitty security when you need our business. Then the hold time is ridiculous. They have no customer service whatsoever. You call and you're on the phone for over one hour. What frogging business is this. Close it.

Be extremely careful when using PayPal anymore. The way the company is run now is completely different than it was years ago. I recently had a dispute over these auto charges that PayPal allows. They decided with the company and against me. I tried to do an appeal and was blocked from the appeal that I'm allowed to do within 10 days of their decision. I've been a customer for 20 years. I've also been a business customer of PayPal. The company that they sided with has over 1700 reviews and 56% of them are all about this auto withdrawal that PayPal allows. It seems like in most of the reviews. PayPal has always sided against the PayPal account owner and sided with this business based in Lithuania. Be extremely cautious when using PayPal anymore.

Terrible payment provider and completely untrustworthy. I have been receiving payments for my business via Paypal for years. I've received thousands of dollars and many, many payments over the years. However, Paypal has begun withholding payment. According to them, it only happens when you don't have a long record of use. I do. They say you need to have had at least 10 transactions. I have. They say you need to have received at least $300. I've received thousands.
Despite this, and trying to communicate with them, they still withhold every payment for weeks with the excuse of having had less than 10 transactions. Not only is Paypal untrustworthy and dishonest, going to customer service is like banging your head against a brick wall. There doesn't seem to be a single competent person in the organisation. There's so much better out there. Frustrating, but I'm now going through the process of setting up with a new provider. Avoid PayPal at all costs.

Twice in all my years of using PayPal I disputed charges because I never received the product. Each time I provided sufficient evidence with emails and screenshots of non delivered items. Both times PayPal took the side of the vendor with no real feedback. If you use PayPal and need to dispute a charge don’t bother. They have little concern about the customer and more concern about the vendor.

If I could leave a review that had negative Stars I would I have been at sea!! Calling and writing emails to PayPal about fraud on my card and every day there is anywhere between 7:00 to 15 charges for $0.20.79 and has ran up over $180 in charges and I have contacted PayPal for two weeks straight and nobody can respond nor can a human respond everything is done by AI. They have no problem taking your money but make absolutely no effort to help you when it comes to fraud. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life and I am 53 years old. I am so disappointed and this is the first time I have ever left a review. this is absolute BS!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

And now you just keep reviewing my account for 3 weeks and nobody can return my call and you just have a stupid computer AI that just keeps repeating the same stupid things back to me instead of getting me in touch with a human?!

Thank you for absolutely nothing and the sad thing is I can't even cancel and delete my account because I can't get any of you to respond to me!!! It's been a pleasure serving a company that doesn't do absolutely anything for you avoid this company at all costs. The customer service does not exist. It's a damn computer that does nothing!!! Holding money 21 days after delivery of item. I can understand 24 hours after purchase to protect the buyer. I had confirmation of delivery and messages from the buyer stating all was good and they say no were holding your money 21 days. Boycott PayPal. 0 stars.

I normally use Venmo. I have used PayPal when a recipient requested it. In my last send to a friend (a donation), I mistyped an email and sent the money. Several mistakes here: I tried using PayPal after not using for some time; I used the app on the phone (where everything is harder to see); I was sending to someone I had never sent money to before, and mistyped one letter in the email. However, I did immediately verify with the recipient, and so I discovered the error and canceled the transaction, all within 10 minutes. All fine with that. But another wrinkle: I had thought I needed to put the money into PayPal first; and so I waited the entire 6 days (5 business days plus a holiday!) to get it, and once I had the money in PayPal, I sent it. Or thought I did…
I missed an option somewhere, and the money came out of my checking account, not PayPal (if only I had realized…). [Could they really not make this verification easier, so that we users catch our mistakes more easily along the way?] When the one transaction was canceled, and the next carried out, PayPal took the $1000 out of my bank account at once (overdrawing that account). I noticed and tried to fix all this, but now for the money to go back to my bank account is 4-7 days (because it is Discover).
I tried Customer Service perhaps 5x. Robot processing first call or two; then someone unhelpful; then someone unhelpful who transferred me to a specialist, who tried to help by sending me to someone who could expedite things, and at the call transfer point, the call dropped. No more PayPal for me. Customer service was a waste of time. The whole process was a mess. I take my share of responsibility but I feel this could have been handled and corrected much better. Next time by check or Venmo.

Liked Paypal until I got banned for no apparent reason. Tried to resolve but was not told why. Escalated to execs who are nonresponsive. Open a BBB complaint and lots of back and forth but they never told me why which gives you no way to explain. Awful company with no leadership.

I purchased my dream guitar by making an offer on a popular website. You probably have witnessed this, but when an offer is made, the payment info is locked in prior to the offer and, if accepted, the transaction happens immediately. I did just that with PayPal as my payment method. PayPal sent all my personal info to the seller for them to package/ship the item. They sent it to the wrong address!! They sent the guitar 1000 miles away.
After three days of fighting their support system, they admitted they gave the seller the wrong address but offered no support. Their paraphrased response; 'It is our fault, but it isn't our problem. Call the police and make a report.' The only support they gave is they would make sure this other address wasn't used again. WTH?? Meanwhile I am out a grand and have no way to get that money back. PayPal support is criminal.

I have had my account for over 15+ years and had someone steal money from my account for the first time ever. I reported it to them, trying to get my money back. They declined and said I made the purchase. It was a company I have never heard of and when I tried to look them up, Google said the page could not be found. I have been fighting with them for over a month and they keep turning me down for a refund and are still saying I made the purchase. I will not be using this account anymore and have moved the money I had left on there to another account. If this is how they choose to treat their longtime customers, then this is a company I don’t care to do business with. I just wanted everyone to know that if you happen to have someone hack your account and steal money, they will not give you your money back.

I suffered identity theft and subsequent fraud that involved my email/a PayPal account and the customer service reps could not have been less helpful if they tried. First of all, when you call, they have no authority to do anything about anything more serious than login/web use issues and so they just send you away with an email address to email. Then you email the email address and the people are so actively unhelpful it would actually be kind of funny if you weren't scared that someone was in the process of taking all of your money. It takes hours to get in touch with someone about fraud (someone could be causing serious damage in this time; it wouldn't matter).
If you think the chat option might be faster, absolutely not. The AI bot asks you what you need and then connects you with a person who will answer "likely in the next few hours" and then they send you a message via your PayPal account. It's emailing, it's not chatting. Each exchange takes so long. Don't worry though, at the end of the day, your problem still isn't solved. 0/5

We have a business and PayPal is horrible for protection of your sales, it lowers scammers to take advantage and pull money back from your account. We sold flooring to a customer and they picked up the flooring then put it as a fraudulent charge and we had proof of purchase and PayPal still gave them the money back.

I purchased Aerosmith tickets through PayPal. The concert was cancelled. PayPal is nothing short of criminal. I spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to get reimbursed. At first they gave me impossible instructions to follow in order to provide information they already had. After hours of complete frustration they finally said flat out they would not reimburse my $750.00. Period. That was it. My wife told me to contact Visa. I did and Visa reimbursed me. I would love to see PayPal go bankrupt. They are a miserable company with a ruthless customer service department. I hate them.

I am very upset with our company, I have called more than once, both your company and the company I am having problems with that had had no problems taking my money, but I never received my food or my money back. I'll call Customer service today and I had problems with the person working, your company and the other company have no problems taking money off my card so fast yet I have filed a dispute and all and I have not received my refund or am I getting anywhere with it at all.

PayPal has worked reasonably well over the 26 years I've been using them. They used to have an excellent shipping service for making discounted mailing labels - until about three years ago. Then they discontinued their in-house service and farmed it out to Ship Station. Domestic packages went through smoothly but international packages were routed through a New Jersey. I took my shipping business to Pirate Ship, a much better alternative. More recently PayPal is back to shipping in-house But retained their NJ handler which is completely unacceptable, and they do not offer an option to go directly through the USPS as they do with domestic mail. And trying to communicate this to them is impossible. Their customer service is moronic. I can't use PayPal Shipping for international mailing. And that truly SUCKS.

Went against their own policy and helped a foreign scammer scam me. Seller sent me one of two items from Chicago Illinois. A cheap replica of what I ordered and missing one item. So I open a case. Somehow the foreign company makes it so I have to return the item to China which would cost two times the item amount. Even though it came from Illinois. A clear violation of their policy. So i called them and they basically said "oh well, spend the money to send it back or we will close the case in their favor".

I was using my PayPal account I’ve had since 2017 to receive money from a friend I’ve known awhile for some work I did for him. He send me one payment for $88, which cleared the same day, and another on November 1 for $1,012 that took 7 days to clear, which it finally did on 11/7/25. And the funds, $1,012, were showing as available in my PayPal account. I attempted to withdraw my newly-available PayPal funds to a linked bank account like I’d done before but was unable to.
Within a few minutes of these funds clearing and being available in my PayPal account, PayPal suspended my account, saying they needed more information from me. I called into PayPal and a PayPal representative had me upload my driver’s license, a proof of address, and my social security number. I did all of these things, she put me on hold, and when she came back she said she thinks she has everything figured out so I can use my PayPal funds.
Within another minute or two the PayPal representative came back and said in fact I won’t be able to have access to my funds for 120 days. I asked why. She said she couldn’t and wouldn’t tell me as it’s part of their security team. She mentioned that a long time ago a PayPal account somehow linked to my name was disabled. I have no idea what she’s talking about here but I do know for years I’ve been battling against the fact I was a victim of severe identity theft. Where the people got my social security number, address, phone numbers, and driver’s license information.
They’ve tried to file federal income tax returns in my name, apply for boat loans, payday loans and credit cards. So I guess there’s always a chance whatever this lady was referencing was associated with that. I know as a result of this I have to have lifetime credit monitoring and each year I file my federal income tax return I have to enter a private PIN number they send me as a result of the identity theft.
Regardless, the lady on the phone representing PayPal said there was now a 120 day hold on my account. The $1,012 available balance shows up when I log into my account. Yet I’m not able to request PayPal mail me a check for that money to the home I’ve lived in for 21 years. And I can’t transfer that money to my bank. The lady said to call back on March 7 and PayPal would help me transfer the money then.
This is absolutely not acceptable. I worked hard for this money. It’s mine. PayPal doesn’t have the right to hijack or kidnap my money for 120 days. I’m part-time retired and this was going to be some extra money I was counting on for the holidays so I could give my grandson a good Christmas. Now PayPal has ruined that. Please help me get my money PayPal is hijacking from me. PayPal is holding my money hostage.

Horrible! Blocked my account. Why? They are not allowed to tell me. Some activity they did not like. All I did was transfer money. Now I have 400 dollars they won't give me for 120 days! 4 months! That's bills that I can't pay on time. That's food for my little girls I can't buy. I called support and they said there is nothing can be done. I used my Chime account to transfer the money out if PayPal, and that must be the reason they blocked my account. Because that's the ONLY activity I did. It's so messed up and I want to use profanity to make that point but I won't. Paypal is bad and sucks!

I have been using this app for 6-7 years now and haven't had any major issues until the other day. I did a Pay in 4 and was approved and the application even stated the amount that was being taken at that moment (never have been declined) and they took the full amount from me! I reached out to customer service about this & their attitudes were pretty much "Oh well, deal with it. Our system is automated & the computer does the determinations so we can't do anything for you. Wish we could help" DEFINITELY have trust issues with using their system now! Very disappointing!!

This has happened twice now and I get banned for using my debit card in the town I live in, so if you use it twice in 10 minutes, they will shut you down and keep what's on your card. This, like I said, has happened twice and the first time they kept over 100 and the second around 15 Dollars.

I purchased an item online and turned out to be a scam. Filed a claim and PayPal denied my claim. Seller sent package using fake tracking numbers and didn't pay postage. Post office said package was undeliverable because of shipping charges. They said this was a new scam that sellers are currently doing. When I called PayPal after they denied my claim, they said I needed to provide a tracking number. The tracking number is fake; they still denied my claim.

They have very poor transaction verification checks in place. I accidentally sent money to someone by the same name as my intended recipient, expecting that PayPal would have a secondary check of a phone or email, but they did not. Their customer support was very poor. It's all automated, and the people you speak to if you finally get to a human are not helpful. I will stop giving PayPal any business. I recommend others to check out more secure sending platforms.

Paypal allows fraudulent charges for unwanted online "subscriptions" initiated by deceptive online practices. I signed up for a free trial and was charged for a subscription I did not request and was unable to cancel as the website said my account was "inactive." I sent the screenshot to PP verifying that their site WOULD NOT LET ME CANCEL. Paypal did not respond to my complaints and underhandedly allowed the charges with no response to my complaint and no email or notice of their decisions. JUST USE YOUR credit card instead. VISA provides protection and reverses charges of these types of deceptive subscriptions. PAYPAL wasted $60 of mine, and I will never use it again... DELETE your PayPal account, as they do not care about fraud and are just concerned about protecting their sellers.

Sold lots of stuff on eBay, most of the time the transactions went well, but when I sold an item that was in perfect condition, PayPal had a hold on the funds for payment, the buyer recieved the item, claimed it was bad, PayPal refunded their money, I never got the item back.... Never used them again.... so ** to PayPal. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS>>>!!!!

Customer service is difficult to contact. The app is hard to use to the point it is deceptive. They don’t care if someone has fraud on you. They will not help to resolve issues. Once a mistake is made it can’t be resolved.

Be careful if you have limited funds. Paypal has been keeping my money if the transaction fails. It's failing more and more, because their website is outdated. They hold the money and don't give it back. I now have to go to my back and open a case when this happens.

PayPal is actually one the most intuitive and well designed suite of financial services that I have ever seen or utilized. The issue many face is they do not give themselves the presence and time to realize how thoughtfully designed it is to be able to manage literally ALL of your money from dozens of revenue streams, if not more, from all across the globe. It's pretty awesome actually. Just take some time to clock on everything and read and it will all make sense.
The only issue I have is through their subsidiaries Sunrise and Ingo that handle their check cashing services. They are not in compliance with Uniform Commercial Code, specifically when it comes to the honoring of properly indorsed negotiable instruments. If a check (negotiable instrument) is cashed with a special, qualified, or restricted endorsement then it is against the law to take a fee. All of the money within that negotiable instrument must be transferred to the receipts account. Whether the company says there is a "Fee for Money in Minutes" this is still against Uniform Commercial Code.
I have had several fees taken on checks endorsed this way, and am extremely upset about it because that's my money! They also won't take a check below $5.00 because then they can't take the fee! Absurd 🤣 Please fix this PayPal. If you are going to offer check cashing service through another company you cannot discriminate. What if someone has no other bank account besides PayPal? Now they can cash a check and are SOL. See what I mean? Think!
Also, how can you take one percent of a government check like social security or VA benefits when that is tax free!!! Again, not OK Sunrise and Ingo. You cannot create terms and conditions that violate commercial law and uniform commercial code and expect to go unnoticed. Silly bank! Checks are for us! Not you. Food for thought PayPal. Love your stuff. Just need to clean up loose ends and probably manage all of the check cashing yourself. Have an awesome day!

I thought using a third-party company when I wasn’t sure about a seller was added protection. I was wrong; I purchased something from Ferlagimo I didn’t get, filed a dispute, which was denied because the seller had a bogus tracking number that said it was delivered. Even though it said it was delivered at 2:40am in the morning when there is no couriers open at time. I finally was able to get the seller to admit the package was lost via email. Forward the information to PayPal, they still denied my claim. Doing my own investigation, I found out PayPal knew the seller and its fraudulent tactics.

If I could give less than one star, I would. The shoes looked great. Ordered them, watched the tracking until they said they were delivered on October 6th - they weren't. I thought I'd give it a day or 2 because sometimes I get notice of delivery before it actually goes in my mailbox. By the 8th, I went to Paypal to file a claim because I had not received the two pair of shoes - they messaged me to "please wait" that they could make it right. I waited a few more days and when I didn't hear from them, filed with Paypal.
PayPal gave me a "tentative" refund while they contacted the company. The company then came back and said they had shipped to the address I had provided and it shows it was delivered. I called USPS and they wouldn't tell me much over the phone. I took a couple hours off work and went to the post office where I got a print out of where they say the package attached to the tracking number given was delivered - I went to the address (a couple miles or better from my home) and they said they hadn't seen it. Then, Paypal said that the company had proven it was shipped correctly by the billing information, even though I had provided proof from the post office that wasn't the case, and they retrieved the "tentative" refund from my account and closed the case - not even an opportunity for appeal. Both Outlet and PayPal were wrong. I won't ever trust the website and I'm reevaluating my relationship with Paypal.

I opened a dispute with PayPal because this vendor, 广东文创科学研究院有限公司, does not have a working website or an email address. This is a fake vendor. The vendor does not exist. I have not received the product after 4 weeks, and I have informed PayPal that it has not been received. To my surprise, PayPal closed my dispute in the vendor's favor after some crazy 20-day rule. I informed PayPal that they need to do a better job of vetting their vendors, and I have closed my PayPal account. Stay away from PayPal.

Every time I order something through PayPal I get overcharged for taxes and fees. I always have to email them to bring this matter up and they apologize then return the taxes. This should not be happening. I feel like they do this on purpose thinking no one will notice. I shouldn't have to do this every time. This makes me not want to order from them anymore. I have very little time in my busy schedule to have to deal with this nonsense. PayPal makes it difficult to even contact them to take care of this..

It is clear that PayPal is pro-seller. I have learned to NEVER purchase anything using PayPal. Use a credit card that does not process through PayPal. Also, don’t waste your time on seeking PayPal assistance to resolve. I even submitted detailed proof of dishonestly. If I had used my DISCOVER without PayPal, I would have gotten my dishonest vendor purchases refunded in my favor. A purchase I made from a company claiming “Made in Texas” was shipped from China AFTER I cancelled the order within 5 minutes after the company added a $15 surcharge.
Another company advertised “gold coins” and sent “fake” gold coins. In both cases PayPal sided with the vendors in spite of me sending proof of false advertising & documentation of a SCAM history. PayPal also makes it very difficult to submit a DISPUTE - no one button push option. Using PayPal cost me $670 - money I would have not lost if I did not push the PayPal button on the purchase, but used my DISCOVER card instead. I used PayPal to purchase items because I thought they would have my back if something went wrong. Turns out I was wrong. Placing a claim is close to impossible because they have only certain reasons that can be checked and don’t allow for anything that doesn’t fit their criteria. It was smooth and interest is really until these days, I found out that they charging me more $280 for the interest surecharge, it was never like like those before and my balance was only more than a thousand, so scammeeerr. Four weeks in a row, I have had an issue transferring funds from PayPal to my bank. This week, customer support still can't fix the issue. To make matters worse, the support supervisor was exceedingly rude and tried to blame me for the issue. I've had PayPal for years, but will probably close my account altogether shortly after the issue is resolved.

While trying to pay my bill my statement customer service and the automated gave me different amounts. I guess it changed because they sign me up for a debit card that I didn't want. So I had to unwantedly cancel my account. They told me I could no longer opt out of the debit card because I didn't respond to the email they sent. I never pay attention to offers that I haven't signed up for. I would never use PayPal again in my life! You can't just sign people up for stuff and then tell them they can't opt out of it.

DO NOT USE PAYPAL. 0 STAR RATING. Opened a case against a seller for an E Bay purchase (non-delivery with concrete evidence) and for 2 months Pay Pal has been changing the reason behind my case, then denying my case, hanging up, promising to call back and never calling back, etc. Essentially they won't provide a refund, even though I have proven my claim. I don't understand how this company is allowed in Canada. It's a completely fraudulent company, especially when their user agreement has clauses that absolve them of any responsibility for providing a refund within 180 days of purchase at their discretion. The government of Canada should either regulate or not allow companies like this to exist in our marketplace.

PayPal is, in my experience, one of the most unreliable financial platforms available, and I urge users to find an alternative. My own recent experience illustrates their unacceptable operational procedures and lack of customer accountability. While I don't mind the standard verification process, what followed was a complete failure of service:
The Problem: Permanent Account Deactivation After Successful Verification. After being prompted for verification, I submitted all the requested genuine documents, including a facial scan. This process was completed successfully. Yet, for no stated reason and immediately following my full compliance, PayPal permanently closed my account.
The Systemic Failure: Zero Customer Service or Explanation. This sudden deactivation came with an immediate and complete lack of support. As is common knowledge and part of their poor reputation, PayPal closed the account without providing any reason and, critically, without granting access to customer service. There was no human I could contact to understand or rectify this decision.
The Financial Risk and My Narrow Escape. I consider myself lucky that I had no funds in the account at the time. The deactivation message stated that had there been money, it would have been held for a mandatory 120 days before being released. I have always made it a policy to keep the minimum possible amount in my PayPal account, and that saved me from a lengthy, unnecessary, and financially stressful ordeal.
Final Advice. It is bewildering that a company with such a capricious account closure policy and a well-known customer service blackout is allowed to operate as a major financial institution.
My strong advice to everyone: Do not rely on PayPal for holding funds or for critical transactions. Find a stable, responsive, and accountable alternative platform as soon as you can.

I have contacted PayPal over a dozen times, wasted countless hours speaking with representatives to no avail. I have tried closing my PayPal account, but they have refused to allow me to do so. They have been unable to provide me with legitimate reasons for keeping my account open. I have asked to speak with supervisors and they refused to provide me with the opportunity to speak with one. I can’t imagine that it’s legal for a company to prevent a customer for closing their account.

PayPal is NOT on your side when you need help with the seller! I was going to buy masks from zen aura. I didn't like their disclaimer at the end, so I left their website, even before it showed shipping costs. I got charged by PayPal right away, it showed a charge from fitody limited. I complained to PayPal, saying I didn't complete the transaction, but PayPal disagree. After going back and forth, 2 weeks later, PayPal said the seller sent the merchandise. I never received, so after 30 days, I complained again to PayPal. PayPal said the seller claims I received the merchandise. I saw no proof, no picture of the package at the front door or anything. PayPal CLOSED THE DISPUTE IN THE FAVOR OF THE SELLER!!! What a joke! I'm done with PayPal. Horrible company!

A customer paid us through PayPal. I received notification that I needed to supply their invoice, proof of purchase from my vendor, my photo ID, proof of fulfillment, etc. And they were putting a 21 day hold on the money. Now after 21 days, they are asking again to submit my proof of purchase through my supplier. My customer tried to cancel their payment within the hour of submitting it but wasn't allowed to due to the hold on my end of receiving the funds. I WOULD ADVISE ALL BUSINESSES TO USE OTHER PAYMENT OPTIONS/COMPANIES. PayPal is horrible!!

I was charged by a well-known supplier despite having no active subscriptions or recent purchases with them. I reached out to the supplier twice, and both times they confirmed they had not billed me for any products or services. I disputed the charge with PayPal, expecting a thorough investigation. Instead, they focused solely on verifying my IP address and confirming that autopay was enabled for the supplier. They never verified whether the charge actually originated from the supplier or a fraudulent source. I even provided PayPal with an email from the supplier explicitly stating they had not charged me—but PayPal continued to scrutinize me rather than investigate the legitimacy of the charge.
After a frustrating week of back-and-forth, with no indication that PayPal had taken steps to verify the source of the transaction, I decided to close my account to prevent further unauthorized charges. Their lack of transparency and unwillingness to investigate the actual origin of the charge was deeply disappointing. I will never use PayPal again and will make sure others are aware of my experience.

They have blocked my account for a month because a card in my account through Uber Eats and Door Dash that has not been active for two years. They continue to ask for proof that it is no longer active despite my repeated explanation that I cannot provide proof because I no longer have access as a dasher or Uber Eats delivery driver. I have been a loyal customer for years and I am highly disappointed and aggravated.

I’ve been with PayPal for 10 years and they can’t even ensure I get my money the same day from transfers if a card is connected already there shouldn’t be any issues. People working here have no knowledge of the difference between a business or personal account. Illiterate! You don’t give your personal name for a business account you go by the name on the account. It’s called “not getting scammed”. Don’t trust this company and ask too many personal questions. I was scammed by one of their employees and my information was in a database linked.

The first call I placed lasted 27 minutes. After being transferred twice and the third supervisor, I was transferred to the phone just made a constant beeping sound and then disconnected. The second time I called, they said that all the supervisors were busy and they would call me back. I’m not gonna hold my breath. The first supervisor couldn’t even tell me if I had a PayPal account. The second person couldn’t tell me my last transaction date. I wouldn’t suggest ever using PayPal.

High interest, don't show your percentage upwards 39% on purchases. Shows 0 balance but behind pay later app shows a balance. Never let you know about balance then goes late. Turns you into collections on zero balance then have to pay collections. I was a customer. Had no issues for 10 years now. Almost had everything paid off and this ridiculous thing happened. I used PayPal to receive rent from my tenant, and the transfer from their bank to my PayPal account has taken far too long. There were no clear updates or explanations for the delay. My tenant initiated the transaction on October 3rd, and PayPal is now saying the funds will be deposited into my account only on October 20th. For a platform that’s supposed to make money transfers easy and fast, this is really disappointing. I expected better reliability and transparency from PayPal.

I am reviewing the current customer service I received via phone. I was on the phone with Paypal customer service as a guest because I was unable to access my account that I had not used for a while. I had outdated information on my account making it impossible to access (retrieve password). I was unable to verify my account by all the ways presented. I talked with two very nice customer service people who tried to help me gain access to my account. (I give Elizabeth and John 5 stars.) I was listened to thoughtfully, questions were asked for clarification, several attempt were made to help me gain access and when nothing was working I was given an option I could live with. I am satisfied with my experience in that there was a resolution to my problem even if not the one that I sought after.
The reason for the eventual solution was explained to me and I agreed with the solution which was to close my way-out-of-date account and start over fresh. I should note that I have not always been a fan of Paypal - one reason that my account got out of sync with my life is that I was not please, in the past, with customer service and the Paypal interface. Security was one of my other issues. Considering how hard it was for me to gain access to my account through customer service I may revisit that thought. How to PayPal account. Sometime ago Started making purchases For parts of a truck, I was restore. After just a short time of using the PayPal account, they canceled it on me. They said I was making suspicious purchases. Truck parts. Yeah there's something suspicious about that. Today I find out my insurance company sent my bill to the wrong address. And I need to pay for my insurance by tomorrow so I go to the drugstore and I get a PayPal debit card. The guy at the store suggested it. Little did I know I had to go through all kinds of flaming hoops to get this thing activated. Which I couldn't get to work when I called customer service.
Habib tells me the card has been canceled. I said, "But I just bought it 5 minutes ago. There's $350 on it." Habib big says, "I am very sorry. Wait, I will try to fix this." He comes back and tells me, "No. I cannot fix this." At that point I started losing pretty much all my patience. How big reminds me that the call is being recorded and I said, "Perfect. That's proof that you just robbed me of $350." "I am very sorry. You'll have to take it up with my Superiors, maybe we can get you a credit For the money." I guess he didn't understand the part where I had to pay the insurance by tomorrow. What I'm saying is, if you need a prepaid debit card, do not try to use PayPal. It is just ridiculous. I have had prepaid cards before. You give. The cashier, your money and the card is good to go. No flaming hoops. Just ridiculous. Hopefully, I get this money back and wasn't ripped off of my three fifty, who knows.

PayPal has had our account blocked for 30 days. We can't access our money. Their "resolve" buttons do not work and a red error message appears. We have messaged with their dumb bot for weeks. We have messaged with real people. We had a phone call with a very rude woman who had no intention of helping. If they no longer want our business after almost a decade fine, but help us close the account and return our money.

I used a PDF program and paid for the PDF I used. I never saw anything when I was up for a service. I never even got an email from PDFsimpli (so not use them) and after I paid them $1.99. And .99 for the PDF I bought, I was charged the next month for 49.95. I tried sending an email to them with the address PayPal had on the charge, but it was returned as undeliverable. What a rip off. Of course, PayPal wouldn't stand by me and refund my money. So I lost 49.95 and have nothing to show for it. You have to be careful with PayPal and watch your charges, or there will be some you never authorized like what happened to me.

PayPal used to be a company I used and recommended. Please don't use PayPal. They don't help you fight fraudulent companies like BeenVerified. I used paypal to pay a trial. They charged me for a service. I requested a refund because I didn't authorize it. They declined my request. I requested a real person and they don't have anyone, it has to be an email. I needed to tell them that there's no response or way to contact that fraudulent company. But PayPal is favoring fraudsters.

I give two stars because the 1st time I used PayPal for my business, it ran smooth for over a year. However, fees went up and before researching a dispute fully, they resolved an issue without consulting me (it was not in my favor either), although I had proof for the refund. I closed my account but decided some time later to try again. Within a week's time of handling my transactions, they are holding over $400 of my earned monies because they think I am fraud. Meanwhile, the client got my product, and I sent them my business license # to prove I was legit. Once this is all over, I will never use PayPal for my business again. I can't even send out new invoices for the orders I have currently.

PayPal is awful. They authorize illegal transactions at 3 am from merchants I never shop with. There's an Apple charge of $335 coming out of my account and I don't own any Apple devices. They are refusing to refund this unauthorized transaction.

I'd give zero if I could. I was sent money and my account says "received pending". They have altered the available date 4 times on the account and twice verbally. Second call to customer service and after 39 minutes of reading their script, he tried to tell me it went straight to my bank and would be released back to PP then they will release payment. I asked for a manager. I was told there wasn't one, they'll say the same thing and then they put me on hold and hung up on me. The money was received per PP but not by me, which means PP is holding. It cleared the payor's acct a week ago.
In other words, PP holds the money collecting interest on it because they can and then releases when they see fit. Multiply that by millions of transactions a day. I have been a customer for over 8 years and never had an issue. I have many multiples of the amount to cover the transaction in my linked account. I will NEVER use PayPal again.

I had a customer that wanted to use PayPal to pay me for service rendered by my pilot car company. I don't really use PayPal by try to make the customer happy is the goal of good customer service and I didn't think it would be a big deal. Unfortunately I was wrong. After I sent the link requesting payment my customer tried to pay me but got a warning potential scammer message. Of course they ask me why I told them I had no idea and they proceeded to pay me. Now my money has a hold on it for up to 21 days. OMG what a mess I wouldn't recommend PayPal for receiving payments to anyone. I have been in business for over a year and have had 0 dissatisfied customers I do good work. I might be new but I have never scammed anyone in my life ever. Sending a warning scammer message to my customer and the hold on my money is unacceptable.

They had no evidence of me ever being involved in any scamming of anyone. Holding my money and slandering my company to my customer is unacceptable. It is not what it should do, they are fake and fake merchants still can easily scam you. One of the merchants scammed me and I file a case with all proofs that I had, the emails, the transaction and merchants email saying they lost my product and they will refund me but did not, I filed a case and Paypal closed my case in scammed seller favor, when I called them they told me that if I received the refund then they will closed the case in my favor!!! Like WTF... If I receive my refund why should I even case on merchant???? I called paypal to discuss, the representative on call told me that, "Yes we know the buyer won't refund you and you won't get the product as well but we can't do anything, try to case on them with your bank account."

I have crypto currency on Paypal and I have been trying for weeks to transfer it out, but it just keeps blocking the transaction. I have sent crypto out before and it wasn't an issue, but now it just won't let me and says "Try again later". When I call customer support, they say that there is a "security flag" regarding my logged in session that is preventing it from sending my funds, but they are unable to fix it or unable to provide any information on when it will be resolved. They said to just wait for an indeterminate amount of time for it to start working again. Are you kidding me? How would anyone feel safe keeping their money on Paypal when they don't have the ability to move it and customer service is completely unable to help. Unbelievable...

Ahhhhh! I'm so mad! I ordered something and clicked PayPal credit on 2 occasions. I have screenshot that they were paid by PayPal credit. Struggling to process even something simple as a twitch sub. I pass subscriptions, payments, scale tickets thru here daily. Yet they freeze up on everything without notice an the response is to not use the account for 2-3 days. I literally use the platform daily in both my work an personal expenses, with an account separate just for them to catch all the static, an the response is to simply stop using them? Pathetic. They sent it to a completely different address but because the names are the same they will not refund my money. They acted like I was at fault for PayPal, allowing my credit card to be hacked and then needed that credit card that was canceled and replaced to cancel their mistake. Use any other service. This is the company that never help the consumer with their transaction dispute. It happens, at least twice, when there is a charge posted to my account. All I got was "you sign the agreement with seller" which I never have, I filed complaint with BBB. Beware of PayPal attach the auto pay to your account. I contact customer service to close my account, they let me know that there are 14 auto pay to sellers (that I never heard of) to cancel. It is very difficult to close the account; I am still awaiting to see when I will be able to do that. I stop using the website and monitor my account and will follow up with BBB if it still not close.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, I opened a dispute because my refund was not posted. I provided the refund receipt from the seller and an email from the seller that showed the amount I was refunded, the customer service representative closed the case 3 times in seller favor. After being on the phone several times in 2 months period the PayPal supervisor in Philippines promised me a voucher but did not write any notes. Now case is open again and supposedly they will listen to the call and let me know if she had promised the voucher. This has been the worst experience of my life. I have been using PayPal for over 20 years and they are HORRIBLE. My credit card company would have solved it in one day. You have to talk to an AI first and it’s so hard to get a human, then when you finally get a human it’s worse than the AI, someone in India or Philippines. I HATE PAYPAL.

Ripped off for fraudulent transactions twice in a long time apart. They would try to take as much as they can of course. Drastic transactions tried for far away places in unusual ways to resell tickets or vacation.. Whatever. Years of using PayPal so transactions like this are pretty suspect. But filing a claim on paypal they just give the generic "nothing unusual", "it's you" copy and paste. So it's either unsafe using pay pal from inside the company or not and they don't care. Big time scammers and fraud organization. Do not store any of your card details with them. You will have transactions from their hand in glove associates stealing your money . Also your account details are sold and you will have transactions using your cards from various parts of the world. (I had stored 2 card details on their site trusting them, I had 2 transactions from UK using both my cards and on thinking back I recollected this was the only site I had stored my card details.) Also I made a purchase from a site for a one time payment. I was shocked to see 6 transactions done every month for the past 6 months. (Unfortunately certain sites only have them as a gateway.) Do not store your card details or create an account. You can use them by paying by your card without storing details. If you make a mistake like me by creating an account or storing card details you will get to be a victim of money stolen. And you will not any support from Paypal.

Some site from China was selling a product but turned out to be a scammer. Which required a payment of $99 via PayPal. They just mailed me empty envelope with a tracking number. After contacting PayPal and explaining the whole scam with the images, they classified it as a wrong item sent and still asked me to ship back the wrong item to the seller at my expense with the tracking number. Which I figured it would be more loss than what's already incurred. $100 scam is not going to kill me but I walked away with the feeling that PayPal is a scammer friendly rather than a fair solution in a dispute like this.

Done with PayPal. I would use PayPal when I thought the vendor I purchased from might be a little sketchy. I made a purchase, and unfortunately, it was from a Chinese company. About a week later, I get a tracking number. Tracking is done through "All-in-One Tracking." If you get a tracking number going through this company, you can bet you will never see your purchase. So I made a complaint through PayPal. They decided that my package was delivered. I have a Ring Doorbell. I checked my video; never delivered. Done with PayPal.

I had an absolutely horrible experience with PayPal. I run a handyman company and sometimes accept payments through invoices connected to PayPal. A customer paid me, and three months later PayPal suddenly took $500 back, claiming the customer disputed the transaction. I provided every proof and screenshot showing the customer paid, was happy with our work, and that this was a clear scam. PayPal’s response? They don’t care. “The customer is always right.” This is absurd. We did the job, we purchased the materials, and got scammed — and PayPal sided with the scammer. I’ve deleted this awful service. I was an 18 year PayPal user, and fortunately I have never had to file a dispute until recently. Upon filing a claim, I provided PayPal with information they requested, screenshots, seller information and more. Despite an overwhelming amount of evidence, PayPal chose to side with the seller. If I had to guess, they had AI scan my documents, and reject the claim instantly. I will never be doing business with them again, and no longer trust this company.

Today they informed me I am PERMANENTLY BANNED for abusing Paypal. What? I was the victim of someone hacking my page and something to do with Crypto Currency. I am the one who reported it. YET, I am treated like a criminal. They seized my savings account and canceled my credit card. They say they have the right to withhold my money for 180 days. I will consult an attorney to see if this is the case. I have done nothing wrong. Do NOT use paypal if you value your money.

I ordered a PTZ camera from Vikery Club. The first one I ordered was through Amazon. No problem. I needed a second and a second camera was only available directly from the manufacturer, Shenzhen Weikerui Video Technology Co, LTD., using PayPal. When no camera was available I requested a refund. After waiting months, I receive an email from intl.paypal.com - note, that is PayPal, not the customer - in Chinese characters. Google translate indicted I press the button to receive my refund. I do.
About 15 minutes later I receive another email in Chinese. The translation was a little different and confusing, but the translation sounded like I had to request the refund again. Per PayPal, I waited 30 to 60 days for the refund to appear (this is after having waited more than 60 days). No refund, so I called PayPal. (I don't know how I actually go through, because I sure can't now!) They said I had received my refund and then, 10 minutes later, had sent it back. The dispute resolution is useless. My "activity" doesn't show up. The 888 number is some AI chat bot. No joy there. I got it to send me a link to the useless dispute resolution. There is a technological iron curtain between the customer and PayPal. My level of frustration utter and complete. DO NOT USE PAYPAL.

I've been a customer of PayPal for over 20 years. I purchased an item using PayPal in June 2025, product did not show up. Contacted PayPal and opened a dispute providing email documentation of purchase and seller's promise of delivery. Over the course of 3 months PayPal did nothing to support or advocate for me as the consumer and PayPal customer. After ~3 months PayPal sided with the seller and declined my dispute. Rather than PayPal requiring the seller to provide evidence of USPS delivery they accepted the sellers tracking number from an oversees shipping company that does not deliver domestically in the United States.
When I contacted PayPal concerning the declined dispute, they required that I their customer provide evidence that the item was not delivered. How can I possibly provide that? In my case PayPal did nothing to protect me the consumer, their customer. I have closed my account and would advise anyone considering opening an account with PayPal to NOT DO IT!

We placed an order online for a $4 pdf. Within a short time, the merchant made 8 more charges totaling almost $20,000, maxing out credit cards and moving on to others on our PayPal account. American Express immediately canceled their charges but our other card hasn’t totally yet. They are trying so won’t add their name. PayPal, on the other hand, was notified and almost immediately sided with the seller and did not notify me as to when or why they made the decision. I appealed, but they will not connect me to an agent. The AI on the phone tells me they need more info, but the resolution center has nowhere to do the upload.
I am concerned that their 11 days to dispute is running out and they will hide behind their policies to dismiss my claim. Be aware, there is no email, text, or phone backup to talk to a human since they went to AI. PayPal is so huge that they can assist scammers stealing your money and there is no recourse. They aren’t even required to tell you why they side with scammers. Photos show comments on seller's Facebook page that confirm this is a malicious pattern on their part.

They are the worst service in this area I have seen. Use any others if possible such as WISE or Western Union, just never PayPal since it might not even work and you lose the money. I sent money to a friend whose account was then blocked immediately so they wouldn't unlock their account but then also not return my money as it was sent as friends/family so I guess paypal just keeps it? On top of the terrible service their fees are huge and it is the most expensive of all the service providers with the most mistakes and nearly no customer service. They overly rely on automated services and if you go through the process to talk to a person by phone they can't actually do anything anyway.

I've been a loyal customer of Paypal since 2001. Never had a problem. I recently ordered an item that I never received and when the seller refused to reimburse me, claiming it had been delivered, I submitted a dispute. Paypal sided with the seller. Now we can't transfer funds out of Paypal that are being deposited there from customer payments. Paypal will accept the funds, but it won't give us access to them. We've provided the information asked for, but PayPal's review of it is in a black hole. There isn't a way to check on it. Very frustrating.

In July 2025 I told multiple agents I am a person with a disability and asked for basic accommodations (permission to record calls for memory support and escalation to a supervisor). Calls were abruptly disconnected or left on silent hold, and escalation was refused. When I requested my data in an ADA-accessible format, I received an unstructured “data dump” with no explanation. Follow-ups to Legal and DSR returned auto-replies that the inboxes were “unmonitored,” and the Executive Office later said another team would handle it and it could take up to 30 days—without committing to the formats I specifically requested.
Meanwhile, PayPal posted messages in my account implying they “followed up,” but calls came from unlisted numbers with no voicemail or contained dead air when answered. After I tried to share my experience publicly (BBB, Trustpilot), my review was delayed/withheld despite verifying my PayPal relationship. All of this left the strong impression that accessibility needs and legitimate complaints aren’t taken seriously. As of early September 2025, I still don’t have an accessible, usable copy of my data or a clear resolution path. I cannot recommend PayPal based on this experience.

I do not know from what part of Indian PayPal hired their new agents, but they are not trained. I have weird situation where is my case under review and every time its date of resolution date is changes and I have to wait more. I faced situation when agent ate during our conversation and for my last 3 phone calls with request to transfer me to the manager, response was: "Oh, manager is busy," another 2 times I put on never ending waiting. From top notch PayPal become nothing to me. Transferred all my money from saving account to the different bank. Can't trust them no more.

My son passed away from an aneurysm. He has a podcast channel with PATREON. PATREON then sent the money to PayPal. Notifications were left in his account showing that a large amount of money was sitting in his account. I sent all the necessary documents to PayPal. The Royal Bank of Canada set up a deceased account. Proof of death, proof showing me as the sole liquidator as well as numerous documents were sent to PayPal. It has been over six months and I still haven’t gotten anywhere. My experience with PayPal has been absolutely dreadful. I have kept all of the correspondence. Now I am going public.

On July 24, 2025, PayPal permanently limited my account without warning or explanation after 25+ years of good standing. Despite multiple requests, PayPal refuses to either explain their decision or close my account to remove my personal information. Timeline of Events: April 21, 2000: Created PayPal account in good standing. July 24, 2025: Account permanently limited via email with vague "high risk" explanation. July 25-August 2025: Multiple customer service contacts requesting explanation - denied. August 2025: Filed complaint with Illinois Attorney General. PayPal claims they detected "high level of risk" but refuses to specify what activity triggered this determination. Their only explanation references "confidential criteria" and "proprietary fraud modeling" - essentially claiming they can ban anyone without providing reasons.

They claim they must keep it open to "protect their interests" and cite "regulatory and legitimate interests" for retaining my personal and financial data indefinitely.

Terrible customer service!! Tried to make me double pay for an ebay transaction that had cleared my bank and Paypal never updated their site and my account was in the negative. Called and the representative was rude beyond words, tried to mute the call but failed and I can hear her ridiculing me to the people sitting next to her and laughing. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and she put me on hold for over 30 minutes and at 40 minutes I gave up and called back. Spoke to someone with a brain and he verified that it was cleared and their system doesn't work properly. The way I was treated is nothing short of despicable. I am cancelling my Paypal account after 25 years.

Be VERY careful when disputing a purchase. First they want you to try to settle with the seller,. You can try all month long to do that, but watch out, after about a month Paypal only gives you a three day window to escalate the dispute by contacting them. Miss that window and it's all over for you. You will lose your time and your case. They promise reimbursement, but you must first jump through hoops to get it.

PayPal is the most difficult online service I have ever dealt with. I made a mistake and made two payment (Total Amount) on a purchase. When trying to get a refund the made me wait two days and then call back and as again for a refund. But here is the catch, they can transfer monies out of you bank account but will not transfer the overpayment back to your bank account. It's all a plan to hold your money. But they will send a check for the refund that takes 7 to 14 days to receive.... Just more Paypal BS. After I get my money back I will totally close this mastercard and never use paypal again. I tried to cancel money I sent to someone and wasn’t able to. PayPal told me I would need to dispute with my bank. I did. My bank gave a temporary credit that they took back. PayPal said I was given a duplicate refund and took 50 from my account to make it negative 50. I sent my bank statements for 5 months period like they asked twice and never heard back. They stole 50 from me and won’t even give an explanation. The last call they said “your bank took the 50 when you disputed it but only gave back 40”. Meanwhile my Bank statement says $50. Anyways I closed my account because of never getting anyone helpful on the phone for a year I am done. Just warning others of this. Don’t dispute with your bank or you will pay the same amount twice.

PayPal was great for about 10 years. Now they are pitiful with the worst customer service I've ever seen in any industry! I spent 15-20 hours on the phone with them last week!. For 8 days I had $1,200 in my PayPal account and it would not let me transfer it to my checking account! Money in PayPal is not federally insured! I spoke to 8-10 reps and got a different answer from every one of them and none of them understood what my problem was. I've given PayPal two chances to prove that they are a reliable and secure company. Disputes with them are not investigated timely, properly and thoroughly. Uploaded evidence is ignored. I disputed a transaction because I never received the product. There response after 30 days was the transaction was processed correctly. I never said the transaction wasn't process correctly, I said it wasn't fulfilled. I never received the product. What kind of investigating are you doing, if you don't read the evidence supplied.

Do NOT get PayPal Credit through Synchrony Bank. They stopped sending statements and force you into using email or app to track your account. It's also kept separate from your normal PayPal account so it can be a bit confusing when trying to review information or figure out the payment plans with deferred interest (like the amount you need to pay to meet the requirements). I decided to pay it all off to avoid the issues and payment was received on a Monday (due date was on a Sunday) and they then charged a late fee and interest. I called to ask them to remove it, and they refused. I therefore closed the account without paying the $50+ amount they wanted. They have since hammered my credit rating so you should definitely avoid this offering from Synchrony Bank.

I do not recommend PayPal. Hold funds for way too long. Processes take forever, and interests are too high. When you have an issue and try to chat with a live agent, they have you waiting forever and then suddenly they hang up on you. This is why I closed this account, because I’ve had enough. Top it off, they charged my an additional $45 for interests fee, when I had already paid the full amount! Anyways, $45 is a small prize to pay, no more headaches, bad customer service, and definitely not ripping me off anymore! I DO NOT RECOMMEND PAYPAL TO ANYONE!!!!

On 3/18/2025, PayPal took it upon themselves to withdraw $1,000 from my husband's PNC bank account for what they termed as an 'automatic reload'. 1- I am the only owner and user of MY PayPal account. 2- My husband has never used or even has access to MY account. 3- PayPal somehow acquired my husband's bank account number and STOLE the $1,000. 4- My husband doesn't even know what PayPal is and/or uses PP, Venmo, Zelle, etc. EVER. 5- PayPal even admitted in an email that the money was an unauthorized withdrawal. 6- They did refund my money MINUS a $15.00 service fee! 7- PayPal has sent me over 25 emails requesting their money to be paid back to my account. 8- They sent my 'debt' to a collection agency. 9- I even wrote a well documented letter to the CEO of PP in San Jose, Ca. I tried to set up a PayPal Business Account, and the experience has been extremely disappointing. While setting up my account, PayPal temporarily blocked it and asked me to verify my identity. I had no issue logging in, but their verification system would not work properly. I called customer service for help, and the representative I spoke with was yelling at me, even though I explained I could hear him and just needed help with the verification process. After some effort, I was finally able to figure out their system on my own, took the required photo of myself and my ID, and continued the setup. However, before I could even finish, PayPal permanently deactivated my business account.
When I called customer service again to ask why, I was met with more rudeness and unprofessionalism. One representative hung up on me, another accused me of “disobeying their rules” (though I never even had the chance to finish setting up the account), and another told me to “get over myself.” When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told one would call me back in 30 minutes. When I questioned whether that would actually happen, the representative laughed, said I’d get a call, and then hung up on me.
I have never experienced such poor customer service and lack of professionalism from a financial services company. Not only was my business account closed before I could use it, but I was treated with complete disrespect when I tried to get answers. Overall, this experience has made me lose trust in PayPal, and I would not recommend their business services to anyone.

PayPal has had my money since August 10th 2025. I have been lied to. I have been called a liar. I have been hung up on. I've been smirked at. I've never felt so humiliated or frustrated in my life. I sent my aunt $700 for whatever reason PayPal would not allow her to have it $190 of it. I sent it from my PayPal to her PayPal. PayPal was trying to refund me $700 she didn't have $700 in her account because they let her have $190 of it. One of the lies was if she put $190 in her account that I would get my money back immediately the next day 24 hours after she makes the deposit. Didn't happen. I was told once that she got the money and she must have spent it. Not true.
I have let them know that I have a medical condition that requires me to take insulin. That I need my insulin but I do not have the money to purchase it. I've also made them aware of my power being turned off. They did not care. Tell me they was sorry. They have no empathy at all. Literally told him that I would die without the insulin and they did not care. Told me that the money had already been deposited in my account on the 11th and that I spent it. That they seen the multiple transactions that I made. Hung up on me. I have cried. My aunt about have nervous breakdown. My 10-year-old daughter has cried because we can't go home cuz we don't got no power. Never seen anything like this in my entire life. I cannot believe this is happening. AliExpress flat out refused, even though they advertise “fast and easy returns.” Total lie. So I turned to PayPal, thinking their so-called “buyer protection” would have my back. Guess what? PayPal in my opinion couldn't care less if a seller is a scammer or not. I was frauded and filed a complaint with PayPal. They listed the seller as a certified trusted seller of PayPal. Come to find out the seller was using rotating web addresses and not sending their product out. PayPal ruled in the sellers favor even though no product was ever delivered. Don't think you are safe using PayPal you definitely are not in anyway protected from corrupt vendors. Just cancelled my account with them!

Tried using this app to purchase concert tickets from Tickpick for a secure payment method and they said there was a problem on their end. Try again. After a few attempts my Money in my Bank accounts and Credit Cards was put on hold and pending and I still don't have the concert tickets. Both them and Tickpick have no record of the transactions but 4 days later my money is still in pending status at my bank. They are a fraudulent business.
Their customer service AI is worthless. It can't even finish a sentence and getting it to transfer you to a human representative is a joke. It wants to ask you questions but never finishes the question. Without knowing what you are being asked you can't respond to this stupid thing. The human representative isn't much better at resolving the issue because they want to blame Tickpick for the problem which blames PayPal but both are listed on my bank account pending transactions that they have no order or record of but I do.

PayPal refused to refund my money for an item that was never delivered to me. They made me jump through all kinds of hoops to prove this. I had to get letters on letter head from the post master and the mail carrier. I provided every single piece of proof they ask for and they still refused. I even proved that the Chinese company used a fake tracking number. PayPal does not protect its consumers against scammers. I will never use PayPal again and I would advise others not to.

The app is very unreliable. I try to add my savings account through my bank and it kept saying error so my only option was to do the one to two or the 2 to 3 business day option and I did that on a Thursday. It is now been a week and five days. The app claims that the money has been transferred to my bank, but I called my bank and they cannot see the transfer. Now I have to wait for PayPal to open in an hour and 20 minutes For for them to figure out their issue because they also told me they would send me a transfer number for me to track where the money is through my bank, but that would take 24 to 48 hours to get sent to my email and it was never sent.
The customer service was also bad. No one really has answers for you and basically tell you there’s nothing you can do. It’s through your bank but when I call my bank, there’s nothing they can do. They can’t see the money. I know I added their information because I added my institution number and all the other information that they asked for directly from the information that was on my savings account, which is where I try to transfer the money and now I’m going to call PayPal once they open hopefully get my money and then delete this and stick to Remitly.

PayPal went downhill badly! I needed to send my son money from Canada from a US bank account in Canada but I could only send Canadian funds that PP converted. The transaction cost me nearly $40 even though I already had US. I appealed to PP but they don't care about my loss. Worse than that try calling their customer service? One person took 425 dollars from us and failed to provide service, we disputed the claim and provided all the evidence but paypal refused to give us back our money. This person (Jeremiah **, owner of Takeoverlandscaping) is a convict and criminal and was arrested more than twice. We provided proof of all the people he has defrauded and still paypal did not review any documents, the people in Philippines were lazy to read through any of that and they just closed the claim. I had to be on the call for several hours to talk to a representative. Paypal service is terrible. We filed the claim in May and it took them 3 months to give an answer, there was no phone number to contact. The people in Philippines did not talk english and it was hard to understand them and they provided terrible service

Long ago, PayPal was a safe way to pay for online items. Not anymore. Now, PayPal takes the sides of offshore con artists and leaves you high and dry. I bought something online, and when I didn’t receive it in a timely manner, I opened a case against the charge. The crooks said it delivered…. that’s fine. Tell me when, by what carrier and where (my address) and I’ll deal with it. No support information. Nothing, except they sided with the seller (crook) and the case was closed. And this isn’t the first time…. but it’s certainly the last. I canceled my PayPal account and will never use it again.

Was charge $100 for an unauthorized subscription. I call PayPal and explain the situation and that I wanted a full refund, they submitted my case and in less than an hour I received a response stating that my refund was denied because I receive the product (go figured). Never had this problem when I do transactions through the bank, but since is PayPal, I'm screw. PayPal does not care about their customers. My recommendation is; if you want to used PayPal, make sure your transaction is not more than $20, in case something goes wrong, you had only loss a small amount.
