I tried calling a service company about billing issues and spent months without a satisfactory resolution. I posted a review on ConsumerAffairs and received a call from the service company within a week. My issues were resolved immediately. I happily recommend ConsumerAffairs. They helped me do in 1 week what I couldn't do in several months.

I would recommend this for any business or any consumer. It is probably the best resolution website I've ever come across. I'm still in shock at the speed in which everything fell into place. Truly you guys absolutely Rock... Haven't been this amazed since the Magic Eraser came out. ;-)

I was a victim of the world we live in that is currently (as you know) not lacking in immoral, corrupt, and unethical business practices. Nevertheless, I gained a sense of security when I found ConsumerAffairs.com and read other consumer complaints. Clearly, we need more people to stand for justice and making the world a better place by standing up for what is right and fair. Thanks ConsumerAffairs and keep up the fight and good work!

So, while looking into a few different companies, to see who may be a better match for the services I'm looking for? i.e., Credit Monitoring, I. D. Theft Protection, etc. It just so happens that CONSUMERAFFAIRS has a few pages dedicated to just that very subject. It all looks very ligament and offers about 5 or 6 different companies to look at. Their number 1 company is LIFELOCK. Then the lines become blurred with a mixture of other companies. I. D. SHIELD, And others.
They, ConsumerAffairs, even asks you to enter your Zip Code and answer a bunch of questions. (Don't worry, they don't ask you for your S.S.I. Number or other personal information), just the type of level of monitoring you're interested in obtaining? But, it doesn't matter what level you want? Whether it's a basic, no frills account, all the way up to a full blown credit monitoring. Because, the outcome will be the same each and every single time. Yes, I tried it several different ways, entering different information each time. Thinking that a different company would come up? It never did. The only credit monitoring company that ever appears is LIFELOCK.
Hey, CONSUMERAFFAIRS... How much is LIFELOCK paying you to direct all of us to their website? Wow... It's a sad, sad day when you can't even trust ConsumerAffairs. And, you've got to be a ConsumerAffairs Member to be able to post these reviews. Of which, now that I know the truth, about how ConsumerAffairs Operates (OPEN TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER), I will be canceling my membership. I can only hope that others read this. But, ConsumerAffairs will get their eyes on it first, I'm sure? And, it will never reach publication. After all, they are the guards over their own henhouse. Never trust anyone!

Due to a negative experience with another company, I posted negative reviews on Consumer Affairs as well as two other sites. Immediately after seeing the review on one of the other sites, the company contacted me to offer a sincere apology and a full refund. But to be eligible for the refund I had to sign a legal document promising not to post any negative reviews. The other two sites allowed me to easily delete the reviews, but Consumer Affairs won't let me do that. As a result I am now in legal jeopardy. I recommend that people avoid this site.

I spent months trying to get our air conditioning unit fixed by our home warranty company, with no positive response. Finally, out of frustration I posted a review and complaint about the warranty company. Within a day I received a response from the company, who assigned a specialist to our claim, and within a week or two the unit was fixed. I still have an issue with the warranty company that it took 3 1/2 months to complete the work, which could have been done the beginning of the summer, not the end! But, I fully believe that it was due to ConsumerAffairs.com that the work was completed at all. Shame it had to reach that level. If you have a legitimate complaint, this is the website to help.

We followed the directions and ConsumerAffairs were able to get CSA to response and to send us the check we had been waiting for for 3 months. That is excellent service! Why does ConsumerAffairs post 5-star reviews at the very top of every page regardless of what page you go to? No options to filter by date or ratings. Very odd. I suspect it has something to do with monies paid by the companies that sponsor your site. All sites I shop with have filtering options. Some even offer competitive sites and yes, with filters! I'll stick with them for now and Consumer (unbiased) Reports.org.

Most people are remiss in not offering public commentary on the quality of the services they receive from companies. This site provides an easy and reliable way to help consumers find quality vendors. MORE IMPORTANTLY, this site gives you an effective way to communicate directly with companies when you aren't pleased. I have experienced first hand how a big company was almost immediately responsive to my post about their service and after a few information exchanges through CA, my concerns were fairly resolved by the company. I couldn't have done this without CA. Thank you.

I have called many times and emailed and get no help. I want my account deleted and my complaint removed. You ask for a receipt and say it will not be shown it will be kept private yet you posted the receipt along with my complaint. I have emailed and called many times asking for it to be removed and you do not respond. Your site is not a legit site. You do not follow your TOS and Privacy which you claim to follow. I'm contacting the agencies that regulate your business about you going against your TOS/Privacy and not responding when called many times and emailed many times!

For the most part I'm pretty happy with this site. I do believe they are understaffed though because you can not ever get in touch with anyone, not by e-mail or phone. I have been lucky to be able to post something & have it resolved. However the problem with this site when not having enough people & no one ever getting back to you are the other posts that never get posted for no reason. I've checked reasons for something being on hold & 1 is that there are not enough posts & 2 is the company isn't on file... Well the company did come up & it only takes 1 post to start. This site is one I've truly wanted to count on & maybe posting about this problem, having tried to contact them for MANY months (since April) & this particular review being extremely important for others to know about... Maybe Consumer Affairs will take note now?

Write a succinct and honest review of accounts that you had with a business and submit it. Sounds easy right? Not if you did it with ConsumerAffairs. While I appreciate that there is a review process of your submission they are flagrantly blase about how futile and wasteful of your time this is. BUT!!! Only AFTER you make your submission. Where they are happy to thank you then immediately tell you that there's a good chance they won't bother to print your experience and that it will take them roughly a week to let you know if yours managed to make it. Kind of garbage system. Especially when you've provided pictures and/or receipts... I don't wish to give it one star because it isn't North Korea, but it's some elitist first world version of it.

I just wanted to thank you for providing a non-profit website without having to immediately enter cc information for "hidden" fees that don't exist with your website. I appreciate all you do in providing a platform for people to feel that a review feels like a "pay-it-forward" whether positive/negative reviews, as it helps many people. Like myself I feel I have a go-to place that is trustworthy, morals matter and people can be honest. If I help one person not make a mistake, it is a price money "can't" or hopefully won't buy with regret. You're the best I've found recently and deserve a thank you, something most people forget, it is nice to be appreciated. So thank you ConsumerAffairs! I have recently written a review of Toyota Financial Services (TFS) on the Consumer Affairs website and love the ease of use it was to do so. The only critique I have is that shortly after I wrote the review I wanted to either edit or delete my review while it was under review with Consumer Affairs, and especially before it was submitted to TFS. I was not able to do so; when it was submitted to TFS I felt like my review was not completely accurate and had no other choice but to mark it as "resolved". I will write another review after I have finished corresponding with the TFS lease-end department but I do not consider my issue with them as resolved.

They could get away with it in the "old days", but not anymore and a little bad publicity can change this bad behavior. There are many companies that deserve good reviews and I try to give them credit for it so they will continue to provide good services even if they never read any reviews. I have found that most of the other websites that are mostly gripe websites do very little if anything to improve a situation and most companies never respond on those websites. This is why I take my complaints or compliments to ConsumerAffairs where it will be seen. I highly recommend ConsumerAffairs. Reviewed reviews on dishwashers. All brands are rated with 1 to 2 stars except Kenmore which is almost 5 stars. These reviews on this brand would certainly appear to be fake reviews. Far too many recent reviews compared to reviews of other brands. No proof of purchase on the part of reviewers. Just joined ConsumerAffairs but initial impression is that info may be quite unreliable and should not be trusted.
Thank you for reaching out! The problem you are seeing is a result of what we call "friction." To put it simply, the reviews posted online are often terribly one-sided. This is because the majority of people who go online to write a review are doing so because they are upset. People who have status quo, normal, or even good experiences, typically do not go out of their way to write reviews online. To help you out, we do have experts who compare companies and offer a break down of which companies are best suited for certain needs.
To read more about why there are so many bad reviews, you can check out this blog post that we published:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/consumeraffairs-for-brands/consumeraffairs-one-star-reviews
The Kenmore reviews you are reading are a result of reaching out to more of their customer base to gather reviews from people who normally wouldn't go online to write about their experience.
ConsumerAffairs goes through great lengths to ensure the authenticity of the reviews that we publish. All of the new reviews for Kenmore have been placed by verified purchasers of Kenmore products.

I noticed many terrible reviews when I read all the reviews and many customers having the same problem I did. I would not have signed up for Nutrisystem if the other poor reviews were not buried. The reviews should be listed as most current so the consumer can be aware of recent problems. It seems that the organization being reviewed has control over which reviews are highlighted at the top -- that is not a fair/unbiased review of a company's customer satisfaction and ConsumerAffairs should not allow it!

You don't allow individual comments about each article. At the end of each article is a comment area. It is a waste of anyone's time to try to post any specific comments about that article there. Nothing is allowed to ever post. We are all taken to a Facebook "dumping ground" where all comments are thrown into one group. A waste of my and everyone else's time.

I have had occasion to publish reviews a few times on this website. EVERY time, I have received a VERY fast (sometimes within HOURS) response from the reviewed company in an attempt to mitigate damage to their reputation (or lack thereof). EVERY time, the reviewed company has "bent over backwards" to resolve the issue. Some resolutions have been better than others, but the reviewed companies DID make an attempt at damage control. This is a TRULY EFFECTIVE site in which to resolve legitimate issues one has with a company, product, or service. I use it when I've exhausted all other means at my disposal and just before consulting legal counsel as a "last ditch" effort for resolution of my issues. EXCELLENT site and reactions from reviewed companies!

I have tried multiple times to post a review about a horrible online dating experience I had on an accredited website. I have tried twice and both times my review has been declined with no explanation as to why. I have read the guidelines and my review doesn't violate any of their guidelines. There are no swear words or anything bad about the review. I have posted the same review on other websites without an issue. I was only trying to inform women of the horrible experience I had to at least warn them before they join. I guess ConsumerAffairs doesn't care about actually protecting consumers at all. They seem to be biased toward certain companies, only posting negative reviews for some companies and only positive for others. I will not use this site again. I thought I was getting everyone's reviews and honest feedback, but now I do not trust their site.

Shortly after I made the report a representative from the company contacted me to address the issues. Eventually they were resolved. ConsumerAffairs.com provided me with a platform to report the issues publicly so other consumers do not fall trap to a shady company, offer a private channel for the business to communicate with me to address concerns. Before writing this report I tried to resolve it individually for 2 months. ConsumerAffairs.com has a commendable reputation, otherwise the business would not have responded to my complaint. I had learned about ConsumerAffairs last year which was specific to my lender that I was having severe trouble with in many different facets. I didn't realize or think about writing on ConsumerAffairs because my goal was to research the lender / servicer of my mortgage within a specific time frame to read about other people's experiences to see if I saw a pattern and / or anything similar. I was and wasn't shocked at what I read and how many. There are so many complaints you could read for weeks so I filtered and searched for a period of time within 3-6 months and gosh still so many.
There were some people who wrote stories that broke my heart but nothing remotely close to what they have put me through so while I had already been in process with my local senator's office who is part of congress, my local AG's office, my local Governors office as I had to find out by calling and meeting with so many people that I should never have had to do but the Governors Office has partial jurisdiction over department of housing. I had spent months with the CFPB and honestly your platform gets a response from a certain department in the company whereas the other places take forever and so much red tape so the amazing thing is this avenue gets exposure to the company and I thank you for that however the people that reply really don't help and believe they have a job to make sure they are responding timely just to do a job.
ConsumerAffairs wouldn't know who it is and what happens after the initial reply but I've gone back and forth with this particular company and that being Wells Fargo and I can't ever mark resolved because it hasn't been and won't be because they have serious internal issues and feel it's very important for the public to continue to be aware they are still being fined and they are not a trustworthy company and I would give anything to never say their name again and to have a new lender but I can't for several reasons. I have bent over backwards and sent them every single item / documentation as in what you would call a rebuttal to what they write you in the mail because those letters are not accurate and to be 100% the majority are lies and that word isn't a word in my vocabulary until WF.
They will not acknowledge their fraud and their dishonest moves and they aren't organized and don't have certain documents of mine on file, they send me critical information via their online system yet I never have had an online account and I keep telling them that but they won't take ownership and say months later that all year long they mailed me my mortgage statements and I never once got them and told them 7 times to send them to me and they kept saying they would and just approx (honestly I can't keep up unless I have my documentation in front of me and don't want to write anything dishonest) but I would say after 9 months of telling me they mail and never have stopped since this mortgage I've had since 2008 thus I've never gone online and get paper statements because I don't trust them and never have.
But approx 2 months ago suddenly they said "we didn't mail" and you get online and I said again another lie and cover as they try every which way to cover their fraud and lies. And I said "show me when and where." I logged in and sent them screen shots of going on their site and no account and then went to try and create one and it wouldn't let me and they said nothing about that as they say nothing about anything but just keep lying and charging and putting words in my mouth.
I have contacted above what they call their executive offices / customer care / used to be called office of the president as that is the office I've been assigned to for over a year and I don't get one return call back. If I got voicemails and was a higher up manager I couldn't ignore these messages and I called several times and 3 separate exec level managers in that same office and no callback. I got someone on the phone once and he said he sent that manager an instant message and she said she would personally call me back in one hour and I waited by the phone and she never called, never and they don't care or even say we apologize and further she said she didn't get that message yet that office documented it because I learned they lied when they said they documented each call and she still lied and still has a job.
You do a great job in getting them to contact me but from there it goes nowhere and has turned into 8 emails back and forth and it's all the same plus more that took place since they took forever to reply this time. I'm not sure if it takes you some time to get submitted or if it's them, not clear on that process. Thank you regardless for having this in place. It shows I had over 40K views.
Jodi, we are so sorry to hear you had such a terrible lender.

Ok, this is my personal opinion. I was reviewing Nutrisystem Nourish on this site and all of the positive reviews were posted easy to read. Any review that had negative information about the company was greyed out and had a strike through on all the print making it difficult to read, not to mention the huge "Factual Basis Uncertain" tag on the review. Huge sticker, impossible to miss. My issue is why is it so important to flag negative reviews for factual verification with no regard to positive reviews. Do you assume all positive are truthful and all negative should be reviewed? Here is my opinion. You are in the company's pocket and none of your reviews are to be trusted by anyone that truly cares to find facts.

Yes, I admitted that I was an misinformed and naive consumer. I admit my part in being defrauded. Where is the accountability of GREEN DOT/WALMART CARD and their employees.
My use of certain words to describe the impression I am left with from the treatment I received from them through the agents representing them ls earnest and should be allowed to be expressed. As long as these corporate entities are shielded from other consumers getting exposed to the true feelings and impressions of consumers victimized by the lackadaisical investing done and the abandoning of their customers, there will never be justice or closure for the defrauded consumer. In April of 2015, I wrote a review on a company called InstantCheckmate.com. However, this review is not about InstantCheckmate.com. This review is about THIS WEBSITE, ConsumerAffairs.com. I had not been to the ConsumerAffairs.com website for about a year and 8 months when I needed to write a review about a crooked company called GP Software in November of 2016. A company whose owner still thinks he’s playing kickball on his elementary school playground.
Don’t get Greg Perry mad or hurt his feelings by calling him out on his juvenile behavior, because if you do, ALL BETS ARE OFF. Anything you ever purchased from him and/or his company NO LONGER BELONGS TO YOU. He will GO INTO YOUR COMPUTER and make your VALID software key INVALID and the program you bought and paid for in full will no longer work. Oh and guess what… You’ll get NO REFUND for the program(s) that he stole back from you either.
Yep. He keeps your program AND your money and he’s getting away with it because the bugger (no worries mate) runs his underground business DOWN UNDER in the exotic land of Crocodile Dundee! Unfortunately, this most recent review of mine about Greg Perry and his group of Software Bandits will probably never see the light of day on this website though and after you read this information I’ve submitted on ConsumerAffairs.com, you’ll know why I think this way. That is of course, if ConsumerAffairs.com PUBLISHES this review of mine. We’ll know soon enough.
After writing my review on GP Software (which is still on hold – pending “additional reviews from other people”), I started to look over my past reviews from a couple of years earlier. I noticed that my review of Instant Checkmate is stamped "Insufficient Response from customer" and my review is faded out (darkened) making it difficult to read. Additionally, there are lines through my text as if to say it isn't true or correct or invalid due to my "insufficient response". The problem with this is that it's not true and it is not right. I was on top of my responses and replies from start to finish with the entire case regarding ICM.com. In fact, my responses were so tight, they were all written and posted within 5 MINUTES of the request for a response EACH TIME!
InstantCheckMate.com told me they were going to issue me a refund for my bad experience. I told them that I did not write the review based on my bad experience, I wrote it because I felt they were deceptive in their marketing and sales techniques and that when that changed, I would consider changing my review and my low rating. ICM.com still insisted on giving me a refund and they did just that. Then I started receiving email messages from ConsumerAffairs.com asking me if I would consider changing my review and poor rating of ICM.com. I responded each and every time telling them that just because I got a refund (which I deserved by the way), did not mean that my opinion of the company had changed because they were still using deceptive marketing and sales techniques.
Eventually I stopped receiving messages from ConsumerAffairs.com and now I know why. Because instead of continuing to ask me if I would change my review and low rating, they just RED STAMPED my review and called it INVALID due to "Insufficient Response from customer". There should be NO SUCH STAMP on this report and the fact that there is leads me to believe that this website is simply a shill for corporate ** who likely pay to have bad reviews removed (or blacked out or red stamped) and good reviews to remain posted. This was done in a subversive way as well. Only several months AFTER I assumed the case was closed and I had submitted ALL requests for a response WITH A RESPONSE, did they darken out my review and put that "Insufficient Response from Customer" red stamp on my review.
Because they waited, likely with the assumption that I would not be visiting this site again for a while since my case was CLOSED and it was taken as far as it could go, they were able to redline my review and darken it out making it look INVALID due to a lazy and/or incompetent reviewer (ME). Moreover, I was sent NO NOTICE of this insufficient response or I would have come back and responded again! Thus, since I'm no longer here to see my review get squashed and I've received no notice of there being a BIG RED STAMP on my review, it gave ICM.com (InstantCheckMate.com) A YEAR AND 8 MONTHS of glorious reviews with all the bad reviews darkened out. I know this because I read most of them and every BAD review was DARKENED OUT while every GOOD review was LEFT IN.
So now somebody tell me this doesn't look just a little bit fishy. Is this website, ConsumerAffairs.com taking bribes, financial or otherwise, to act as a shill for big businesses with deep pockets? If they're not doing this, why does it seem (at least in my situation with ICM.com) that only the reviews that favor the company are bright and shiny while all the unfavorable reviews are darkened out and/or stamped as being derelict and irresponsible in their response time and/or quality. Perhaps it had never occurred to ConsumerAffairs.com that when people have a bad experience, the first thing they want to do is get past it. It's not exciting and fun to write a bad review and give a company a poor rating after that company did you wrong. So the last thing on your mind in a situation like that is to get through it and get it OVER WITH.
It seems that ConsumerAffairs.com is likely using the psychology of a "bad experience" and the predictability of "human nature" to create a website that appears so ominous and credible that people would only need to check out this website to determine if they want to do business with a particular company. Then turn right back around and solicit big $$$ from deep pocket businesses letting them know that if they want a guaranteed GOOD REVIEW and HIGH RATING, just give them X amount of $$ and watch all the good reviews roll in.
Have you guessed what the rating is now for InstantCheckMate.com? It's FOUR out of FIVE STARS. I gave them 2 stars and many others gave them worse than that. But our low rating reviews DID NOT COUNT IN THE ICM.com OVERALL RATING. Now if you took a little trip over here to the ConsumerAffairs.com website because you weren't sure about a company you were considering doing business with and you saw 4 out of 5 stars, wouldn't you say, "Eh, my due diligence ends here. Let's go shopping"? I'll bet you would. I would too. Too bad though for both of us, that our deciding factor (ConsumerAffairs.com) would be based on FALSE, MISLEADING and INACCURATE information. I certify this information to be true and is the exact experience I am had and that I am currently having with ConsumerAffairs.com.
Don, when a review is on hold waiting for more reviews it means there have not been enough create a page for them.
As for the rest, our office is currently closed for the holidays but we will look into this when we return. If you received a refund the review should be marked as resolved.

I appreciate your service. I did not want to close the case out but I fear you guys can not reverse it. Just in case this is a great service. I am very sad that Sprint would think so little of me, and just ignore me. They acted just like they train their employees. In the end I only wanted half of the cost I wasted for the year, 300$. But I am forced to get my own lawyer and sue or I was invited into a large lawsuit so I guess even though they are such koshuls and ignored me I get that they just don't want to deal with me as a human. They misunderstood me but made no effort to understand further. It seems they were confident I couldn't sue and you could hear it in their voice. I'm adhd/anxiety cursed and though I am bright I'm also impulsive and a unsavory character to bottom line people. But adhd/anxiety does not mean we lie!
So now I have my ducks in a row. If you are able to leave it open great, if not at least put unsolved because they can't get away. They remind me of deadbeat dad syndrome. I remember my mom & me at 6 years old at a prince William county courthouse with my eastern European biological father and the relief he showed when the judge said I can tell she's his but va law says if the father denies the child we can't touch him and the judge eagle eyed him as he said it and he was out of the courtroom in a flash, never looked back. I didn't care but I remember what a bottom feeder looks like and SPRINT is a bottom feeder. In case you can't reverse the resolved key which I didn't hit because I wanted people to know I was not taken care of and they should not trust them. Thank you for your forum for people like us.

I am so glad I read Consumer Affairs reviews prior to purchasing new appliances. We were advised by a local appliance store to go online and read reviews before deciding what brand to go with. I am just wondering why Consumer Affairs gave the LG refrigerators reviews 3 stars, when all the reviews you showed had given them just one star and some would have given none, if that were an option. You lose a lot of credibility when you do this. We were about to buy a five-piece LG suite for our remodeled kitchen, but after pursuing these reviews, we are going to stay way clear of LG... Their prices are not even that much lower than manufacturers with better customer service, better/quicker technical service, and product quality. The customer protection branch of the federal government should be investigating this company! I am so glad I read your reviews prior to purchasing LG.
Hello Sharon, the stars are based on a large number of reviews written by consumers. We do not define the star rating ourselves.
We're glad we could be of service during your shopping experience & hope also write a review for the brand you purchased.

Visited your website to investigate complaints against a home warranty company. Was EXTREMELY disappointed in the content and display of your postings. Evidently, there is no oversight or repercussions on respondents using evasive language to respond to - what appear to be - valid complaints. That is, in reviewing numerous complaints from this company all the text from the complaint was both shaded and lined-through making the complaint very difficult (but not impossible) to read. In addition on every single response from the company receiving the complaint - the response was EXACTLY the same (except for the name of the complainer being addressed). HOWEVER, ALL of the congratulatory comments were displayed in clear text. HOW VALID IS THIS??? I am certainly not confidently in the validity of your process of "protecting consumers' interests.
Russ, when a review has been resolved or could not be verified, it is struck through, but as you pointed out, it can still be read. We choose not to remove them, therefore offering a well-rounded view of the consumer experience.
We do this in order to showcase the most relevant content in a way that can be distinguished from reviews that have already been resolved. Regarding the language, no brand discusses the personal details of a transaction in order to protect the consumer's privacy. Many responses are standardized across a variety of industries to simplify & expedite the process. The consumer & brand continue the discussion offline to reach a resolution.

I just received and read in ConsumerAffairs newsletter piece on how consumers using coupons of branded drug manufacturers pay more than they would pay for generics, the point of the article that consumers are being misled. The author remarks that brand drug manufacturers price branded drugs as high as possible and take advantage of consumers in that regard, and with the coupons. The piece you posted is inaccurate, misleading, and potentially dangerous. First, I am a consumer, have no relationship of any kind to any drug manufacturer, don't own their stock (unless in a mutual fund) and am not here to defend them.
But your reporter says generics drugs are equivalent to branded drugs, because they have the same basic ingredients. That is, in a number of cases, a false statement. In 2012, after 5 years of dragging its feet, the FDA ordered two or three generic versions of ** off the market, after consumer reported being switched from the brand to generic by their insurers, and going into deep depression that had been under control before the switch. The FDA finally acknowledged that how the contents of ** is delivered - the release mechanism, which can involve "the fillers" - is key to whether the drug works, and testing of generics showed those 2 or 3 did not release in the bloodstream the fully or effectively. The FDA ordered the manufacturers to cease selling them.
You can through a quick Google search find the same result re **, one of the most widely prescribed antidepressants on the market. There are innumerable reports of consumers being forced to switch to generics and going back into deep depression. (I do not know if the FDA has looked at this - have no researched.)
In the past, I took both ** & experienced this. I also still take thyroid medication. And every endocrinologist I've seen says do not take generic ** (the most widely-prescribed thyroid med) - it is often made overseas, in plants with limited quality control, and sometimes the tablets do not even contain the minimum required active ingredient. They have uniformly prescribed the branded form.
Several months ago I switched to the just-released generic form of ** (a statin for cholesterol). Three weeks later I had what was likely - though not yet proven -a very adverse reaction to the generic. My doctor informed me he has since had two other patients he has had to require brand for, because, they, too, had adverse reactions to this new generic, when switched from the brand. Your reporter has it in for brand name drug companies. She, however, has clearly not researched the subject and in effect is misinforming (as did the FDA until the ** situation came back and undermined that effort) the public.
As it happens, I recall a report that the US manufacturers develop about 75% of all new medications. It costs a fortune - and one reason some branded drugs don't have the side effects and do work as intended because they have spent hundreds of millions developing them. Your reporter appears to have overlooked, that too. No doubt many generics are fine replacements for brand. But it is a disservice to represent that as being universal. And there are plenty of "victims" out there who have been forced to switch and pay the price.
I know from personal experience that insurers are not always "innocent" in pricing drugs - and no doubt branded manufacturers - along with generic manufacturers - gouge. It is common knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry that some insurers pharmacy benefit managers make more selling generic meds than branded meds. I hope ConsumerAffairs will update in some fashion its article, to provide a complete, unbiased view of the subject.

Any review site that makes money off advertising can't be trusted.
Reviews are often written as a result of a conflict or problem with a product or a process, this results in a low rating which in turn impacts the brands rating as a whole.

www.consumeraffairs.com is in bed with the companies that are being reviewed. Any bad reviews the company can come in and invalidate and claim that it isn't factual. I just reviewed over 100 reviews of American Home Shield, whom I submitted a very bad review for. The ones that are negative were all considered "uncertain" or "not factual" and had been struck through after a response from the AHS representative saying they would "follow up." This website is obviously a sham cover for poor companies to hide their shady dealings!
As you can see on American Home Shield, if a consumer leaves a negative review about a brand, the brand responds publicly & the original review remains published & visible. Brands reach out to the consumer offline to resolve the issue.
Unfortunately, there are times when the brand reaches out but receives no response. That is through no fault of the brand or ConsumerAffairs. If the consumer does not respond, the issue can neither be verified nor resolved.
This process ensures every review is legitimate & people can't simply bash a brand anonymously like many review sites allow.
Your review on AMS is awaiting moderation approval & you should be hearing from the brand soon.

Dear Moderation Team @ Consumer Affairs: You offer inconsistency in your reviews and more than often you are refusing or blocking the view of the Consumer. I haven't a clue why holds have been placed on my reviews and even if you were to explain, it still gives you the right and the Consumer none. Boo hoo on you moderation team @ Consumer Affairs. Boo hoo on you!
JC, we're sorry you feel that way. When a review is written it must be reviewed by the moderation team to ensure it is an actual, original review. This process slows down the publication of reviews but ensures we offer our readers the best resources possible. If a review is written about a brand not yet on our site, it cannot be published yet. You should enclose a link to recently published review in review confirmation e-mail for convenience of your users. As a user, once I published a review - I want to see it on your website. Instead, you send a big button to write another review, which is useless. There should be a "follow-up" link which gives your users a feel of completeness for their action.

On 7/21/16, I left a voicemail with Mr. Carman, and also left emails with both Mr. Carman & Mr. Hood, ALONG WITH emails to two other employees, asking for clarification on how to re-write a review. I have NOT HEARD BACK from ANYONE yet (7/24/16). It is IMPOSSIBLE to reach a LIVE PERSON via telephone. EVERYTHING is directed to voicemail. There is not even a way to reach any sort of live operator!! While I appreciate the avenue that ConsumerAffairs.com affords to leave/read reviews, I find it UNACCEPTABLE that there is NO way to reach a live person, and find it UNACCEPTABLE that neither of the two owners will return an email!! Thank you.
There are a couple ways you can update your review. If the company has solved your problem and you'd like to share that with others, you can post a resolution. Posting a resolution will allow you to explain how the problem was solved and update your star rating if appropriate. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have a way for reviewers to edit their reviews after they are submitted. If you would like to add to your review without marking it as resolved, you can submit a second review for the same company. Please be sure to include in the subject line that it is an update to your previous review. Our moderation team will be able to include the new information in your original review. The second review will show as "on hold" indefinitely in your user profile because its contents will be included in your original submission.

I'm afraid my notification was read as a call to action, and not just a heads up.
Although initially there was confusion, as to whether I had filed a report on Walmart with Consumer Affairs or Consumer Reports, once Heidi knew it was, in fact, it was with Consumer Affairs, she took the initiative to protect me as a consumer, whom she thought, was in fear of further retaliation from Walmart.
Heidi did what she believed I wanted, and what she thought was the best solution, by removing my report. She just as quickly reinstated it, as I requested.
I believe she cares and behaved fairly in what she perceived as a frightening situation.
Our communication had a bit of the old "Who's on second?" flavor to it and I want Heidi to know I'm grateful for her concern, restoring my report, and for the lively cocktail chatter. Please consider my complaint RESOLVED. :)
Original Review: July 14, 2016
I have received threatening comments on my YouTube blog from a person who had read my ConsumerAffairs complaint, and is stalking me. He claims to be employed at the Wal-Mart head office, the company I had complained about. I sent emails off to Wal-Mart and to ConsumerAffairs, quoted one of his comments, and apprising them of the situation. I received a prompt reply from Heidi, who pleasantly advised me that I had contacted the wrong consumer watchdog organisation, and I was actually looking for Consumer Reports, who she said she would be forwarding my email to. To my recollection, I have never had a product issue, worthy of bothering Ralph Nader's Consumer Reports with. I begged pardon, and sent her a screen shot of my 6 reports for Wal-Mart I had in my ConsumerAffairs account, so she could see the ConsumerAffairs header, and that they were in fact, reported to ConsumerAffairs.
She seemed a bit embarrassed, but rallied, saying, she had found a couple reviews for Wal-Mart Pet Department that I had submitted, but both are tagged as "no publish" which meant they should not be visible on the website. She said I'd still be able to see my reviews I submitted from within my account profile, and she hoped not having them visible to the world on the website helped make my situation a little better. She suggested again, I still follow-up with Consumer Reports, as the "gentleman" (her word) who had been bothering me had referenced in his attacks to the reviews being in Consumer Reports. *sigh*
I went back into ConsumerAffairs archive, found my only Wal-Mart Pet Dept report deemed publishable, and sent a screen shot back to Heidi. She hasn't replied. I hope the irony of all this isn't lost on who ever is reading this. The Wal-Mart employee stalked me from ConsumerAffairs, NOT Consumer Report, as he mistakenly claimed. I'm not sure what happened here with Heidi, but I'd appreciate a follow-up from whoever's in charge around there. I don't predict a they'll be a dispute, but just in case someone needs it. I attest that this is true, and will surrender all email and documentation, supporting this claim, upon demand. Thanks.

I have written a couple of reviews here on ConsumerAffairs and they were not all good. I will write about the NOT good ones. Seems like when I write a bad review within a while someone from that company will give me a call (Coincidence or not?). I will actually tell the company (store) that I have contacted ConsumerAffairs and any other place that I have written to about them. I believe people need to start speaking up and banning together to stop these places from scamming, stealing, overcharging, bad customer service, etc. If enough people start to write bad reviews and doing something maybe things will get better. They will not get better if YOU let them get away with these practices that are wrong.
Start writing your review either good or BAD on ConsumerAffairs and let others be warned so they don't get ripped off and just maybe YOU will get a call and your complaint will be resolved. It has happened to me. This is your sounding board if you have a valid complaint against a company, store, any place that did you wrong! Start here today. The system erroneously notated my online review as "resolution in process", which was completely untrue. Mohawk Flooring contacted me only to ask for information already included in my review - they have made no attempt to resolve the situation at all. Their response to me after my review was clearly so that they could say they had fulfilled their obligation in contacting me. I am very disappointed that Consumer Affairs would allow Mohawk Flooring to use their website in this way because the system automatically puts a review in the "resolution process" when a business responds. This is totally inaccurate!
There is no means by which I can post any further comments to my review, because your system "forces" me to say the problem is resolved when it is not. This gives other consumers reading the reviews a false impression. I had hoped that my review would be of assistance to other consumers, however, I now wish I had not wasted my time placing a detailed review on the Consumer Affairs site.
The fact the company did indeed reach out to you means the resolution process has begun. This is standard practice. They reach out to verify the review & from there, we hope, a resolution can be reached. Your original review is still published on the site to memorialize the transaction & serve as a resource for potential consumers.

In because I had been cheated many times by sent me fake products from sellers through auctions in the US largest website more than 10 years ago, so I wanted to find some online shops which handled by real store. Through Google search, I got names included saksoff5th.com and saks.com. I had placed orders in saksoff5th.com firstly, and got problems (I'll write a review about them later). So I changed to place orders in saks.com by having a thought that they would provide better services cause they are the mother company of saksoff5th.com. Sadly, I got problems again from the very beginning after I'd placed orders (I'd mentioned already in one of my reviews here in consumeraffairs.com).
As a consumer from outside US, we really needed help while got shopping troubles and also being ignored by their service center. We don't want to be treated like what experienced decades ago, and thinking that it should have ways that can help me and/or give them some pressure to behave better. They are all located in America, a country ruled by law, right!? So I used Google search once again with the tag 'consumer' and 'Saks 5th Avenue'. Finally I found the way here...consumeraffairs.com! After I wrote the review here about my shopping experience in Saks 5th Avenue, I got a reaction of order canceled from the service center of saks.com hours later (more than 24 hours after my first e-mail sent to them which they said I'll get personal reply within 24 hours).
And, after my review got lived by consumeraffairs.com, I got 3 replies at the same time, differently from order & service dept. of saks.com. Of course, only official speeches I had got from them. The most strange thing is, I got an e-mail from Saks_Feedback@incontact.com one more day later, which was asking me to make a feedback for him... The one who signed underneath is just the one took the first action...'helping' me to cancel the order. With this result, I'm so sure that this website, the consumeraffairs.com, really can help me in this affair. Thanks so much!

In my opinion, anyone would be well advised to look to Consumer Affairs if they have any question as to the character or nature of anyone that they are considering doing business with. Nothing can serve to inform you of an entity's business practices better than real life consumers who have had experience with a particular entity; you can no longer go by the recommendations that are posted on the entity's website because the website is not necessarily independent or objective.
David, thank you for the glowing review. We are pleased to be a resource in your arsenal as an informed consumer. We think everyone deserves to make good decisions.

ConsumerAffairs doesn't give a ** about the consumers. When I was stonewalled by Orbitz you didn't support me. Orbitz clearly shucked their responsibility to correctly detail a change in my flight departure time status email which cost me $2,500.00 in additional airline tickets. I sent you a screenshot of the email. Orbitz definitely has you in their backpocket. Keep on pretending to do what you actually don't do.
Richard, it's unfortunate you had this experience however we cannot control how a brand handles a dispute. At this time Orbitz is not an authorized brand, meaning we do not have a relationship with them & are therefore unable to directly facilitate a resolution.

Why don't you help all of us who write reviews? I can also create a page and receive thousands of complaints and...??? Thank you.
Bertha, ConsumerAffairs is a third-party platform, we cannot control which businesses pursue resolutions. We do our best to connect brands with their consumers so issues can be resolved & relationships maintained. Unfortunately, we cannot control whether or not a business chooses to resolve the issue. We wish we could help every reviewer reach a positive resolution and we are consistently working to engage as many brands as possible to bring awareness to consumers whose voices need to be heard.

A poor form by ConsumerAffairs. Appears automated with little support. Not much better than Ditech itself.

I have phoned ConsumerAffairs three times in the past few days and each time I get nothing but frustrating menus and recordings. I also have left a phone number for my call to be returned. That has not been done. If indeed they are there to help - then there should be REAL people available to help. One of the MAIN complaints of virtually EVERY 'bad business' the public encounters today - is the fact that they always make PERSONAL CONTACT a virtual impossibility so as to discourage legitimate grievances from being heard. The 'internet' (etc) providers are among the worst of these. Please - if you are serious about helping us - then show it by action.

I don't know where you got the information that I had reached a resolution with Nutrisystem and I should change my rating. I have not and I'm not changing my rating. Who are you really working for and do you have any proof that a resolution was reached. Shame on you ConsumerAffairs. How about you publish this one.

I complained about a company. It was notified by Consumer Affairs. The representative of that company offered full settlement AND asked that I change my star rating of my review at Consumer Affairs. I responded that though the issue was satisfactorily, because of the craftiness and ineptness of that company, and for the sake of prospective consumers, I could not change my rating. Consumer Affairs' involvement, I believe, resulted in that company's willingness to a resolution in favor of the consumer.

I wrote a review on ConsumerAffairs about a business I had recently had trouble with. They are a great middle person and help fill the gap between the customer and business to resolve any problem. I am very satisfied with their services and if I ever need to give the public a review about another business it will definitely be on this site. Thank you ConsumerAffairs!
Thanks Joshua. We appreciate you sharing your success story. We look forward to many more reviews from you in the future.

Checks and balances within any operation is key to success for both the consumer and the product provider. While Landmark Home Warranty is a top notch provider, in mid-October 2015 my Maytag washing machine broke down. Nothing major, but it was a switch that was no longer in production. Though Landmark processed many service calls but no remedy developed. However, considering that this Maytag model is obsolete, no fault could or should be placed on anyone, except I need to remember how old I am getting, and things that look new to me are probably still kinda old! (I retired from the Marines in 1992).
In February 2016, I became curious about Landmark's standing in the homeowners community and found Consumer Affairs review system upon which Landmark is a member. After writing a review about this situation, I was contacted by Kristen ** of Landmark's Public Affairs through Consumer Affairs. Ms. ** looked into the situation and a decision was made to bring about resolution. No doubt the joint efforts of Consumer Affairs and Landmark Home Warranty made this a Win-Win for everyone, especially me! I have no clue how to work on a washing machine and getting on my knees at my age is not a task I want to endeavor in.
Joe, thanks for sharing. We love to hear about brands taking care of their customers & look forward to many more reviews from you in the future.

You had a space to write a comment with a log in to post button at the end of the space. I wrote a thoughtful comment ad clicked to post. A page popped up asking email and password. After I logged in, the comment was gone so I would have to rewrite it or just give up. I gave up, not consumer friendly?

After I wrote a review stating that Sleepy's didn't stand behind their product, I was contacted by Sleepy's who told me they would replace the defective mattress. I had followed all Sleepy's instructions for a warranty issue and was denied because the fabric is not covered. However, hole in the top fabric after 7 months usage is not wear and tear but likely a defect. I am so happy this is happening and know it would not have gone this way without the help of ConsumerAffairs.

I am not big on reviews and as any human I tend to do something about negative experience rather than positive. But I wanted to make an exception here and share my positive experience. I posted a review on this website not expecting anything. I was only trying to vent my anger and frustration but I was surprised when few weeks after I posted my review company I had issue with reached out to me and addressed my issues. I am VERY HAPPY!!! I think this site is a great tool to make companies accountable for their mistakes and helps us consumers to choose the best possible service or product.

I reported a problem with Sprint. My daughter and I were both making monthly payments to Sprint on the same two phone lines. (She says she told me she was taking over her own phone bill back in June, but I don't recall her telling me that fact.) When we realized in December that we were both paying monthly on the same bill since June, I notified Sprint and was told there was no record of both of our payments going to the same phone lines. (Even though both of our bank statements reflect the deductions to Sprint.) My daughter called Sprint at least four times in January trying to correct the problem as I was still getting a paper bill from Sprint even though the phone was supposed to be her responsibility exclusively. She was told the situation was resolved.
Then, approx. a week ago her phones were cut off with no warning and Sprint said it was due to non-payment. My daughter was upset and decided she would cancel Sprint service. I was disgusted about the whole situation with Sprint and contacted ConsumerAffairs. The very next day I was contacted by a Sprint Executive Analyst who said she would look into the problem. She contacted my daughter and they resolved the issue. I'm a little skeptical about Sprint "resolving the issue" since we were told that it was resolved in January but I'm willing to wait and see. Meanwhile, I believe if I had not contacted ConsumerAffairs nothing would have been resolved with Sprint. Thank you ConsumerAffairs.

Now this is a slight twist - a not so good review of this company/organization, Consumer Affairs, and how they handled or mishandled an objective review I made about a month ago of Credit One Bank (we'll see if it's posted with other Credit One reviews???). I sent in a fairly positive review of COB after reading so many negative ones to basically give another objective view of COB...
It detailed my experiences with this bank and credit card (full disclosure of the $75 set-up fee, standard online payments always made on time and posted to my account typically within 3-4 days, free monthly credit reports showing higher scores, an unexpected credit line increase just before Christmas based on an excellent payment history without having to pay that fee they're also known for, up-to-date account info online so I always knew my remaining available credit and transaction history, and on... and on...) and generally stated I was a satisfied customer so I thought Consumer Affairs should also post my very objective review.
I also stated that I have other credit cards - AMEX, CapitalOne, CarCare One, ExxonMobil, JCPenney, Sam's Club, Walmart and a few other bank cards - and often receive similar service from Credit One Bank as with all cards my wife and I have, and don't view the "always bashing COB" reviews as fair given my experiences. I expected the review to be fully analyzed/evaluated/scrutinized prior to publishing on Consumer Affairs' website, but not to take over a month, so I followed up with them over a week ago with an email after noticing my review was still "ON HOLD", asking why, but have yet to get an answer. Does this continued "ON HOLD" status suggest Consumer Affairs is only interested in listing negative reviews???
Seems so... and if not, hopefully my initial review (and also this one of Consumer Affairs and how they didn't even give me the common professional courtesy to respond when I asked why my review is still "ON HOLD") will be included with all of the other negative ones to give anyone seeking an above average credit card from a good bank, a better alternative to many of the other credit card offers/service that aren't as good (though I believe Credit One Bank can improve their Customer Service by having some of their agents stateside who can communicate better, and speak and understand English better, than the ones currently off-shore - basically my only genuine complaint!).
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We hope to continue to be your go-to resource for reviews, resolutions & expert advice.
