After what should have been a simple 3 step process that should have taken 3 business days with my account with Century Link I was at my wit's end since it was going into 3 months to resolve. I found ConsumerAffairs online and wrote about my experiences with Century Link. A Century Link representative came on the site and mentioned that Century Link had started to pay attention to the ConsumerAffairs site and wanted to resolve my issue. I thank ConsumerAffairs for being there for me and the issue has finally been resolved.

Vital consumer information is being withheld from consumers who really need to understand the pitfalls of the TEACH Grant process. This warning is needed.
Hi Dorcas,
Thank you for reaching out! Your review of TEACH Grant is on hold because we do not yet have a profile page for that company. Unfortunately it's just not realistic for us to have a page for every single company and so in cases like this, we hold your review, and any others for the same company, in our database until we have gathered enough reviews to be able to create a profile page. When we've gathered enough reviews, your review will be published and you will receive an email letting you know.

If it wasn't for Consumer Affairs I would have lost so much money! Every time I buy something online I make sure I check here first otherwise there's no way I would know the truth about anything I'm buying because there so many fake reviews and fake sites that these companies pay people to write fake positive reviews for them. However here nobody's paid, this is just the dead honest truth. It wasn't for them I wouldn't buy anything online. I actually started buying things online when my sister showed me this site. That's the only reason I felt comfortable enough and secure to be able to make my 1st online purchase and I have not had one problem with any of the products I've received since I made my first purchase a few years ago.

I was contacted by ConsumerAffairs twice in the recent past. This being after I had left a very negative review for Caterpillar men's work boots. Having ConsumerAffairs assure me that someone from Caterpillar boots would be getting ahold of me concerning my bad experience with their boots. After never hearing from anyone at Caterpillar Boots, I thought I would let ConsumerAffairs know that I had never been contacted by Caterpillar Boots. Each time I replied to ConsumerAffairs, I had ask for a reply from them. Never having received any reply from ConsumerAffairs or Caterpillar Boots, I felt that leaving a review for ConsumerAffairs would be the only appropriate thing to do at this point.

I had a very bad experience after having my tires rotated and balanced. The service provider did not tighten the lug nuts after doing the work and I was in an accident on a highway that hit another car and caused physical damage to the cars and the passengers. Following my experience, I found that many people either experienced a problem with the lug nuts or knew of someone else who had. Still, I feel that people are mostly unaware of this problem and I think it should be highlighted in an article or something to make people more aware.

I am very happy with ConsumerAffairs allowing me to post my honest dealings with businesses so others will know and be aware. I am glad ConsumerAffairs posts their reviews also so I can make informed decisions based on other people's dealings with them too. It helps warn us about potential problems with certain businesses or helps us to see if overall they are safe to deal with for the most part. I so appreciate that! I am also glad that I not only am able to write my true encounters on here to warn others with, but it helps me to vent all the frustrations out when those businesses seem unwilling to help or don't care. It gives me an outlet to do that so they cannot get by with mistreating customers without others hearing about it, but I will also get on here and praise them for dealing well with their customers when they correct their mistakes, so they will continue to, hopefully. Thank you ConsumerAffairs for providing a platform to do that.

When issues arise, we post a comment or review. When we request it to be taken down and refused, doesn't make me want to post in the future on a certain venue. Everyone who posts reviews should not be denied the respect of the request to either remove or even edit it. I have been denied that request by ConsumerAffairs. I have asked again to have it deleted. We will see. Therefore, if you DO NOT want to take the risk of changing your mind even to edit it in the original form, don't post here!
Hi Catherine,
Thank you for reaching out! According to our policies, we do not delete reviews. We do this for many reasons. First, it keeps businesses from trying to bully or incentivize consumers from removing negative reviews. Second, if the reason you wish to delete your review is that the problem has been resolved, we prefer that you post a resolution. This helps to give other consumers an idea of both your initial problem and how the company helped to make it right--very beneficial for other consumers who are going through something similar. The third reason people often wish to delete reviews is concern over legal liability. If you are concerned about this you can change your alias to something anonymous from within your user profile. If you have any questions or would like help with moving forward with any of these options, I would be more than happy to assist you.

We may have need of a 'voice' as consumers. ConsumerAffairs website provides this. The site gives you an opportunity to write a review about a company you are dealing with. Opportunity is given for the company to respond and to resolve the issue that has been brought to their attention. Other avenues just haven't worked, such as phone calls to the company or emails. I've posted to ConsumerAffairs for two situations and both were resolved in a quick and satisfactory manner.

Now I understand why other reviews don't say what ended up happening.
Hi Monica,
I am so glad that your problem was able to be fixed! Your resolution was published on our site 12/28/2017. According to our policy and terms of use, we do not delete reviews. We understand how this could be frustrating, but it's an important factor that sets ConsumerAffairs apart from other online forums. Because of our policy, companies aren't encouraged to threaten (or bribe) consumers to take down their reviews. Your original review is still very relevant for other consumers who use our site. Reading about your initial experience AND reading your resolution update shows other consumers what might happen in a similar situation. If you would like more information on this policy you may reference our frequently asked questions section on this, here http://www.consumeraffairs.com/about/faq/
We hope you'll use ConsumerAffairs again in the future because your voice is important and sharing your experiences helps educate other consumers. Thank you for sharing feedback about using our site!

I really like this website. I just can't say enough about it. I joined 2 years ago to post a review of a website that I felt was engaging in shady practices and my review was actually seen by the company. I know this because they responded multiple times. I believe that is the only way I got my money back. I didn't realize it at the time because I either wasn't getting the notifications when the company responded or I just didn't pay attention to my email, but I remember getting my money refunded and in hindsight I believe it was in response to my review because it kind of came out of the blue. Highly recommend this site! Now, before I buy anything from a site I am unfamiliar with I will check ConsumerAffairs first. I also love that you can mark your issue as resolved, but the original review still remains. Even if a company fixes the issue, other consumers still have the right to KNOW what the issue was in the first place.

Hi Mark,
We love it when Companies engage with consumers. That's why companies can sign up for ConsumerAffairs for Brands, which allows them to respond to consumer's complaints and reviews. So, while looking into a few different companies, to see who may be a better match for the services I'm looking for? i.e., Credit Monitoring, I. D. Theft Protection, etc. It just so happens that CONSUMERAFFAIRS has a few pages dedicated to just that very subject. It all looks very ligament and offers about 5 or 6 different companies to look at. Their number 1 company is LIFELOCK. Then the lines become blurred with a mixture of other companies. I. D. SHIELD, And others.
They, ConsumerAffairs, even asks you to enter your Zip Code and answer a bunch of questions. (Don't worry, they don't ask you for your S.S.I. Number or other personal information), just the type of level of monitoring you're interested in obtaining? But, it doesn't matter what level you want? Whether it's a basic, no frills account, all the way up to a full blown credit monitoring. Because, the outcome will be the same each and every single time. Yes, I tried it several different ways, entering different information each time. Thinking that a different company would come up? It never did. The only credit monitoring company that ever appears is LIFELOCK.
Hey, CONSUMERAFFAIRS... How much is LIFELOCK paying you to direct all of us to their website? Wow... It's a sad, sad day when you can't even trust ConsumerAffairs. And, you've got to be a ConsumerAffairs Member to be able to post these reviews. Of which, now that I know the truth, about how ConsumerAffairs Operates (OPEN TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER), I will be canceling my membership. I can only hope that others read this. However the problem with this site when not having enough people & no one ever getting back to you are the other posts that never get posted for no reason. I've checked reasons for something being on hold & 1 is that there are not enough posts & 2 is the company isn't on file... Well the company did come up & it only takes 1 post to start. Additionally, our policy is to only publish one review per brand per consumer. This means that your first Home Advisor review was published, but subsequent reviews from you for Home Advisor cannot be published.

I happened upon ConsumerAffairs when looking for the company that built my swimming pool. In the throes of frustration, I found that I could write a review. Of course I was dissatisfied with the company and proceeded with a scathing review of their work. I wrote the review on a Saturday and by Tuesday the company was calling me! It should be noted that the company had not contacted me in over 10 years.
I have to say this is the route to take if you want your voice heard. While my review of the pool company was years too late, ConsumerAffairs made certain my concerns were addressed and I was given the opportunity to vent. While I am still dissatisfied with the company I reviewed, I am ecstatic with ConsumerAffairs.com! Sometimes we just need to be heard. Many thanks to ConsumerAffairs.com!

I posted a review of a company with which I was having some difficulty getting a refund for a non-service. I found ConsumerAffairs a little slow in posting; it took 6 days from when I had written the review until it was actually posted. However I imagine they have very many reviews to moderate. Apart from that, I was very happy with the service they offered and they provided me with the opportunity to progress and resolve my issue when the company was not responding appropriately. Thank you. I would recommend your service to others.

Things get accomplished when a review is written on ConsumerAffairs. I have had good experiences after writing a review especially with bad companies who are trying to get over on consumers. They could get away with it in the "old days", but not anymore and a little bad publicity can change this bad behavior. There are many companies that deserve good reviews and I try to give them credit for it so they will continue to provide good services even if they never read any reviews. I have found that most of the other websites that are mostly gripe websites do very little if anything to improve a situation and most companies never respond on those websites. This is why I take my complaints or compliments to ConsumerAffairs where it will be seen. I highly recommend ConsumerAffairs. Don't waste your time on some of those other websites which I have also used and never received any results.

However it never allowed me to understand the most powerful tool it gives you. It gives you the ability to reach out and speak directly to the companies you need to speak with. They are a neutral party that helps voices be heard on issues you have and hopefully work towards a resolution in a way that works best for both parties. People can say they are a shrill for who pays them the most money but in my experience they were a tool to help my voice be heard and get a resolution that worked best for me and my family.

Reviewed reviews on dishwashers. All brands are rated with 1 to 2 stars except Kenmore which is almost 5 stars. These reviews on this brand would certainly appear to be fake reviews. Far too many recent reviews compared to reviews of other brands. No proof of purchase on the part of reviewers. Just joined ConsumerAffairs but initial impression is that info may be quite unreliable and should not be trusted.
Thank you for reaching out! The problem you are seeing is a result of what we call "friction." To put it simply, the reviews posted online are often terribly one-sided. This is because the majority of people who go online to write a review are doing so because they are upset. People who have status quo, normal, or even good experiences, typically do not go out of their way to write reviews online. To help you out, we do have experts who compare companies and offer a break down of which companies are best suited for certain needs.
To read more about why there are so many bad reviews, you can check out this blog post that we published:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/consumeraffairs-for-brands/consumeraffairs-one-star-reviews
The Kenmore reviews you are reading are a result of reaching out to more of their customer base to gather reviews from people who normally wouldn't go online to write about their experience.
ConsumerAffairs goes through great lengths to ensure the authenticity of the reviews that we publish. All of the new reviews for Kenmore have been placed by verified purchasers of Kenmore products.

I wrote a review of Nutrisweet and it is hidden -- the reviews giving five stars are at the top even though they are older. I noticed many terrible reviews when I read all the reviews and many customers having the same problem I did. I would not have signed up for Nutrisystem if the other poor reviews were not buried. The reviews should be listed as most current so the consumer can be aware of recent problems. It seems that the organization being reviewed has control over which reviews are highlighted at the top -- that is not a fair/unbiased review of a company's customer satisfaction and ConsumerAffairs should not allow it!

I have had occasion to publish reviews a few times on this website. EVERY time, I have received a VERY fast (sometimes within HOURS) response from the reviewed company in an attempt to mitigate damage to their reputation (or lack thereof). EVERY time, the reviewed company has "bent over backwards" to resolve the issue. Some resolutions have been better than others, but the reviewed companies DID make an attempt at damage control. This is a TRULY EFFECTIVE site in which to resolve legitimate issues one has with a company, product, or service. I use it when I've exhausted all other means at my disposal and just before consulting legal counsel as a "last ditch" effort for resolution of my issues. EXCELLENT site and reactions from reviewed companies!
We're happy we could help you have your voice heard. be part of the resolution process.

I have tried multiple times to post a review about a horrible online dating experience I had on an accredited website. I have tried twice and both times my review has been declined with no explanation as to why. I have read the guidelines and my review doesn't violate any of their guidelines. There are no swear words or anything bad about the review. I have posted the same review on other websites without an issue. I was only trying to inform women of the horrible experience I had to at least warn them before they join. I guess ConsumerAffairs doesn't care about actually protecting consumers at all. They seem to be biased toward certain companies, only posting negative reviews for some companies and only positive for others. I will not use this site again. Shortly after I made the report a representative from the company contacted me to address the issues. Eventually they were resolved. I had learned about ConsumerAffairs last year which was specific to my lender that I was having severe trouble with in many different facets. I didn't realize or think about writing on ConsumerAffairs because my goal was to research the lender / servicer of my mortgage within a specific time frame to read about other people's experiences to see if I saw a pattern and / or anything similar. I was and wasn't shocked at what I read and how many. There are so many complaints you could read for weeks so I filtered and searched for a period of time within 3-6 months and gosh still so many.
There were some people who wrote stories that broke my heart but nothing remotely close to what they have put me through so while I had already been in process with my local senator's office who is part of congress, my local AG's office, my local Governors office as I had to find out by calling and meeting with so many people that I should never have had to do but the Governors Office has partial jurisdiction over department of housing. I had spent months with the CFPB and honestly your platform gets a response from a certain department in the company whereas the other places take forever and so much red tape so the amazing thing is this avenue gets exposure to the company and I thank you for that however the people that reply really don't help and believe they have a job to make sure they are responding timely just to do a job.
ConsumerAffairs wouldn't know who it is and what happens after the initial reply but I've gone back and forth with this particular company and that being Wells Fargo and I can't ever mark resolved because it hasn't been and won't be because they have serious internal issues and feel it's very important for the public to continue to be aware they are still being fined and they are not a trustworthy company and I would give anything to never say their name again and to have a new lender but I can't for several reasons. I have bent over backwards and sent them every single item / documentation as in what you would call a rebuttal to what they write you in the mail because those letters are not accurate and to be 100% the majority are lies and that word isn't a word in my vocabulary until WF.
They will not acknowledge their fraud and their dishonest moves and they aren't organized and don't have certain documents of mine on file, they send me critical information via their online system yet I never have had an online account and I keep telling them that but they won't take ownership and say months later that all year long they mailed me my mortgage statements and I never once got them and told them 7 times to send them to me and they kept saying they would and just approx (honestly I can't keep up unless I have my documentation in front of me and don't want to write anything dishonest) but I would say after 9 months of telling me they mail and never have stopped since this mortgage I've had since 2008 thus I've never gone online and get paper statements because I don't trust them and never have.
But approx 2 months ago suddenly they said "we didn't mail" and you get online and I said again another lie and cover as they try every which way to cover their fraud and lies. And I said "show me when and where." I logged in and sent them screen shots of going on their site and no account and then went to try and create one and it wouldn't let me and they said nothing about that as they say nothing about anything but just keep lying and charging and putting words in my mouth.
I have contacted above what they call their executive offices / customer care / used to be called office of the president as that is the office I've been assigned to for over a year and I don't get one return call back. If I got voicemails and was a higher up manager I couldn't ignore these messages and I called several times and 3 separate exec level managers in that same office and no callback. I got someone on the phone once and he said he sent that manager an instant message and she said she would personally call me back in one hour and I waited by the phone and she never called, never and they don't care or even say we apologize and further she said she didn't get that message yet that office documented it because I learned they lied when they said they documented each call and she still lied and still has a job.
You do a great job in getting them to contact me but from there it goes nowhere and has turned into 8 emails back and forth and it's all the same plus more that took place since they took forever to reply this time. I'm not sure if it takes you some time to get submitted or if it's them, not clear on that process. Thank you regardless for having this in place. It shows I had over 40K views.
Jodi, we are so sorry to hear you had such a terrible lender.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us & hope to continue to be a resource for you.

Ok, this is my personal opinion. I was reviewing Nutrisystem Nourish on this site and all of the positive reviews were posted easy to read. Any review that had negative information about the company was greyed out and had a strike through on all the print making it difficult to read, not to mention the huge "Factual Basis Uncertain" tag on the review. Huge sticker, impossible to miss. My issue is why is it so important to flag negative reviews for factual verification with no regard to positive reviews. Do you assume all positive are truthful and all negative should be reviewed? Here is my opinion. You are in the company's pocket and none of your reviews are to be trusted by anyone that truly cares to find facts.
