"ConsumerAffairs" holds itself out as a "Consumer News" resource "For life’s important purchases." They say, "Our experts can help you find the best products and services across 3,000 brands and companies." But, they suppress bad reviews about their "authorized partners." When the reviews of the "authorized partners" (DexYP) are negative, they say this: "Our moderation team has determined this review does not meet our guidelines for publishing." This is illegal for many reasons. It violates the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. It is false advertising. It violates the alter-ego laws of dozens of states. It is interstate fraud. If you are the person tasked with deleting this post, Baumgartner Law has already saved it, we will be deposing you, we will get ever other deleted post, and we will represent you free of charge against Consumer Affairs and DexYP. We collect phone numbers on reviews to help verify authenticity, making sure our reviews are as helpful as possible. And why is it if a review is denied consumeraffairs.com doesn't notify you or tell you why it's denied. Personally I believe the company is bias in what it allows to be posted or shown. But this is my last review.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing this feedback! We took a look at the numerous reviews you've posted to our site, and thank you for being such a power poster! We publish reviews for companies we have profile pages for within 2 days if not much quicker. Your unposted reviews were primarily for smaller, regional companies. I never write reviews even though I read all I can before I pick up a new service or product. I had such a bad experience with a service that I HAD to write to warn others. Within a day, the company had 2 separate reps call us. They dealt with the issue and were able to come to a resolution we were both ok with. We had already sent a dozen emails and called several times with no help in sight. I was honestly looking for a place to vent but this was a place that even the company we were having issues with was looking at! Our company called US!!! I will look to post more reviews because it really does help. The good and the bad!!! I am still really amazed that the company was on here looking. ConsumerAffairs.com is a great thing!!!!

Recently I posted reviews for two companies I had issues with Republic Services and Mediacom cable, right away I noticed my reviews on hold for days, then after many inquiries I was told they may post soon, depending on moderators opinion, then Stacy tells me not to talk bad about employees in my reviews! What is she talking about? Half of my complaints are out of control employees calling me P. O. S. And trash! Anyways they finally post and then right away both my reviews say resolution pending! That's such a lie! Nobody from either company ever contacted me to resolve anything! So today Nov. 15 I sent 4 messages to your co. For response, and was ignored all day.. Seem to me Consumer Affairs is working for their own interests and not for me the consumer..
All reviews submitted to us must undergo our moderation process, where a real human reads each review to make sure they meet our guidelines for publishing and to ensure a consumer has not included personal information which may cause them harm.
Understandably, this process takes time, and reviews are not published immediately upon submission. It is also our policy to not include last names of employees in reviews, but the first names are still there.
We'll follow up privately with more information for you!

Consumer Affairs has completely changed its offerings. It has gone from a reliable, informative and credible source of information on a wide range of products. Access was easy. Just select the product you need information on and you would get a rating to guide you on reliability, pricing, ease of use, etc. Now, the interface is 'jazzed up', confusing and not user friendly. But what is most disconcerting is that it is now an 'infomercial' for Amazon. The products are not rated in a credible fashion; the offerings are 'sponsored'; the search for product reviews generate forms to fill out with personal address, e-mail address and guess what? You will be flooded with ads for the products you dared to seek information on. Sorry. You've destroyed a brand name by getting caught up in the Amazon frenzy. I'm out of here.
We're sorry to hear you're not happy with our new format and we appreciate your feedback. It's input from consumers like you that help us improve our site and make it a reliable source of unbiased information when it comes to making some of life's biggest purchases.

ConsumerAffairs will post your review, sure. They give your review to the company and the company always responds, "Thank you for letting us know. We will contact you by email and work this out." The company responds by email by saying, "Too bad, so sad but look in your contract because we don’t cover or supply you with an exact match to your broken product" as I have discovered with American Home Shield. ConsumerAffairs won’t let you post the email response that you get. I have discovered that ConsumerAffairs gets paid by some of the companies that are reviewed to be image control. They are and have been sued And are still in suits for stacking the review deck against those that won’t pay for protection, so to speak. See this article **.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We'd like to clear the air on a couple things. First, if a company works with us and pays us a monthly fee, we disclose that prominently at the top of their reviews page and discuss this in more detail on our FAQ page here: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/about/faq/#about-us
We also highly value balanced reviews, and do not "stack the deck" in favor of accredited Brands. In fact, more than 1,400 non-accredited Brands are rated 3 stars or higher on our site! To learn more about ConsumerAffairs, please check out this page: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/about/

I very rarely write a review of my experiences with any product or service. That being said, this is a review of a venue that provides consumers an opportunity to speak of their experiences and to hear back from the vendor. Every sheet of paper has two sides. Unlike many other review sites where you read just the review (some of which may have ulterior motives and be fake), ConsumerAffairs provides an objective and honest means for back-and-forth dialogue between vendor and customer. ConsumerAffairs website provides both of them with the means to present his/her own side of the story. The reader of a ConsumerAffairs' review and follow-ups can decide which side of the piece of paper to have most faith in. Good decisions are most often made based on good information. It's on the consumer these days to define what is 'good'. Many thanks to the team at ConsumerAffairs for providing such service to the community.

You pick and choose what reviews to publish. It seems when the review is bad you do not publish it. You work for companies too. Most of the reviews are on hold because they represent the truth about Choice Home Warranty. Nothing wrong with telling the truth.
ConsumerAffairs publishes all reviews and complaints that meet our guidelines for publishing, regardless of star-rating. We do not pick and choose, but rather follow strict guidelines for which reviews can be published on our site.
There are plenty of reviews, both positive and negative that are both published and rejected for not meeting our guidelines.

"Thank you for reaching out! We can understand your concern, however, under ConsumerAffairs Terms of Use, we are not obligated to remove reviews." This is unfair to the reviewer as well as the business. If a matter has been resolved amicably between the business and the customer, there should at least be an option to update/edit/append some text to the old reviews if not the ability to delete them. Also this 'term of use' should have been spelled out louder and more clearly such that users of this website don't ever miss it and know what they are getting into.
While we do not have an option for members to delete their reviews, we do have some other options, which were laid out in the rest of the email sent to you.
For this example, you could "post a resolution" which would allow you to publicly update your review with details of how the company solved your problem.
"If the reason you wish to delete your review is that your complaint/issue has been resolved, we would prefer that you post a resolution. This helps to give other consumers an idea of both your initial issue and how the company helped to make it right. This can be very beneficial for other consumers who are going through something similar."

I have written many complaints about companies via Consumer Affairs, they refuse to post several saying they are out of compliance with their 'guidelines'. I read and reread the 'guidelines', not one was out of compliance. It appears to me they are getting paid off to leave off bad reviews. I am 100% they won't post this review either.
We have looked into your reviews and noticed that all of the reviews which were not published were for companies you had already submitted reviews for. We are not able to publish multiple reviews about the same company by the same person. This has nothing to do with star-ratings.
Original Review: July 17, 2019
Your rating for Certegy check verification service is wrong. Most ALL reviews are only 1 star..they are that bad..but your company shows they are 4+ stars. When you filter by stars there is only one 5 star review and if you read it, it's actually meant to be 1 star. If you filter for 3, 4 stars etc. no results found. Although your disbursement shows different and is completely wrong. This is misrepresenting a bad company and should be corrected. I hope this is not the case for other companies on your site. Thank you.
Hi Dian,
Thanks for using ConsumerAffairs and for pointing out what appears to be a discrepancy in our ratings. In the last year we've begun to collect ratings without reviews for Certegy. These ratings have ranged from 1 all the way to 5 stars. But there is no review to publish along with it. The overall rating displayed on our site is an average of the ratings and review sentiment collected over the last 365 days .

Although I experienced great difficulty getting through to anyone by telephone after receiving my first unsolicited Consumer Affairs review via email after I posted my experience on the website they responded the next day to answer my question and resolve my issue. Overall the process served to improve my satisfaction from my service provider but I can now see value in the service they provide as well. They just need to learn to answer the phone when folks try to call. Thank you for your prompt response and resolution. Overall 4/5 stars.
Original Review: July 10, 2019
I received a purely "unsolicited," email from a business named Consumer Affairs requesting me to candidly share and review my experience with my tax advisor. Upon doing so as requested I promptly received a call from my tax advisor offering to make things right. As a byproduct of their gesture towards me they understandably requested I consider a "modification," to my original review.
Given how that I perceived the gesture of goodwill on the part of my tax advisor to be entirely "genuine," I agreed to modify my review as requested. And that is where things started going downhill. The Consumer Affairs website required that I create an account which I did but would not appear to permit or grant me access to my review as the account website is rather disjointed, clumsy to navigate and generally not user friendly. So I began trying to reach out to someone at Consumer Affairs Lake Tahoe, NV where I met a brick wall. Apparently, the folks at Consumer Affairs are not interested in the consumer nothing whatsoever.

After spending several hours on the phone trying to get a warranty honored, I posted a negative review of the company on ConsumerAffairs. Less than 36 hours later, the company called me to make it right. They cut me a check that more than covers the claim, and lets me get a new device with a new warranty so I won't have to deal with the same issue again. I'm very thankful to ConsumerAffairs for providing this platform and making this possible. I'm pleased to see that reviewers (like me) can't change their original review - this means companies can't buy off people to remove bad reviews. But we can post an update after a resolution, so readers know the whole story. I will be checking ConsumerAffairs for reviews in the future. Thanks!

Updated on 06/25/2019: I appreciate your help, but it is obvious that American Home Shield is not concerned about their service and product, but concerned about the star rating. They did not resolve or respond to anything. I called their customer service number when I got a bill for cancelling my contract with them. It took 3 calls to finally talk with someone that was willing to help. Keep in mind that the initial service call was done by a company that diagnosed the AC unit needing a $600 part and 15 lbs of freon. I called another company for a second opinion and thank goodness I did. Thank you for your response.
Original Review: You can sure tell ConsumerAffairs is supported and/or paid by the various companies being reviewed on the site. The only thing posted for public view are the good ratings and outcomes. Everything else is either “under review by moderation team” or “does not meet ConsumerAffairs' policy for posting.” There is nothing mean or rude in any posting, it's just that some are questioning a company policy or giving a rating that is not “5 stars” I suppose. What a waste of time to post and read this site. And I know “this will be under review by moderation team” or does not meet policy. LOL.

I have attempted to publish many reviews of companies, using Consumer Affairs, but they seem to place almost ALL OF MY REVIEWS ON HOLD, and claim they do not meet the requirements to publish.… This is frustrating beyond explanation, because this is supposed to be a site to help people post a review about other organizations, and they have soo many nit-picky little rules about what can and cannot be published, that it almost feels like you are not allowed to write anything at all, except for the company's name, or your review will be denied.
There is a link on the Review page that is called Review Guideline but if you click on it another Review form just pops up, and I have been unable to find the elusive rules for writing reviews on the page thus far. I do not appreciate being denied the right to complain, over some kind of fascist policy system that denies everything, and am seriously considering finding a different review site membership, somewhere that I will be allowed to post my opinions, without fear of them being moderated out of existence!!

I have just started reviewing some of the companies that I believe deserve reviews, and this is the only company that lets me review an entire corporation, and not just a single location. There are many MANY large companies that get away with absolute atrocious behavior, and deserve to be called out on it. At the same time, I try and give credit to where credit is due, and being able to review an ENTIRE CORPORATION is absolutely invaluable to me. In this world where a corporation can buy their way out of a one star rating on every social media platform and review website, this site seems to take the bias out of the face of a company, and help represent the consumer and not the company.

We review regularly online because reviews from consumers (we HOPE are real) determine so much of our own shopping. And it seems public comments are one effective tool to get companies to understand the effects of their policies. We especially appreciate that Consumer Affairs adds an additional element of trustworthiness by signaling "verified" reviews--those from shoppers/consumers who've uploaded documents to prove our business with establishments being reviewed.

Once you have created an account, however, any attempt to update your profile information will mark this field as required - preventing you from updating any information without providing a phone number. They also require a ZIP code for an account - which should not be associated with a physical location, but with a person. This makes managing honest information difficult for any transient persons. Here you can see tactics of shady companies to keep users from deleting accounts by making it unnecessarily difficult. This leads to being able to say, "We have X many users on our platform" but I guarantee you a large portion of that is just folks who can't seem to find the delete button. I signed up to post a simple review but upon seeing the account page with no delete option, I knew I did not want to do any business with this type of company. Delete my account. Delete my data. Now. The fact that it's almost quicker to do this through your review process than your customer service line says all I need to know about the company.

Thanks for being a fan! We think you're pretty great too. We hope to be your go-to resource for sharing reviews and researching any major purchases in the future.

It works. I am so delighted that I was able to have my issue with Vonage resolved using your website. Vonage actually credited my account using this website where their telephone customer service would not.
Hi Ish,

Good result from online review. After posting a negative review of a company based on my experience, the company I reviewed swiftly responded, assigned several representatives, who stayed on top of my issue and eventually resolved it to my satisfaction.
That's great news Elaine!

I am trying to delete my account with ConsumerAffairs.com. I called the contact number but the only option was to leave a message. No callbacks. There is no place on the site that an account can be deleted.
Thanks for reaching out. Your account has been removed per your request.

Excellent website for resolving our concerns regarding a trip refund of nearly $15,000.00. Our direct communication with the company left us frustrated at best and quite honestly - a bit angry. This venue allowed for open dialogue which the company clearly recognized and ultimately responded to.

From what I've viewed of this company its numbers of reviews, extreme limited to a point of question... If only a limited number of people reviewed anything the review is not a controlled review. Better be nice to a shakedown or you will receive a poor review?
Hi J.P.,
Thank you for your feedback! Feedback from consumers like you is how we learn and grow. We look forward to discussing your input further with you.

ConsumerAffairs, this website, gives a glowing representation of MoneyGram even after receiving dozens upon dozens of negative reviews and complaints about MoneyGram. These are no expert reviews or even real reviews. ConsumerAffairs does not consider the reviews of the consumers it so brazenly lies to and pretends it represents. Proof is here in black and white. Read the reviews of MoneyGram and then the plug by ConsumerAffairs. Disgusting.
