This site is in bed with the same companies you’re reviewing. A good example is FedEx. If you write more than one review against FedEx they won’t allow it to post. This is 1st amendment violation all day. So don’t waste your time with Consumer Affairs. They’re not to be trusted.

    Thanks for your vote!
    ConsumerAffairs
    Response from ConsumerAffairs

    Hi Michael,

ConsumerAffairs does not prevent negative reviews from being published, and companies cannot pay to have reviews removed or blocked. We publish both positive and negative experiences as long as they follow our Review Guidelines (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/review-guidelines/).

In this case, your review was declined because it violates our posting standards regarding duplicate content. As outlined in our guidelines, each review must be unique and not previously submitted on ConsumerAffairs or other platforms. Our records show that you’ve already submitted a review for FedEx, which is why the additional submission was not approved.

We appreciate that you’re an active reviewer on ConsumerAffairs and truly value the time you take to share your experiences.

    Hi Herb,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I am sorry for the frustration.

You raise an important point — in the moving industry, it’s common for a national company to subcontract to a regional agent, who may then subcontract to a local crew. Many consumer complaints stem from this multi-layer structure, especially when expectations aren't clearly communicated.

I took a look at our Alaska-specific page and noticed it hasn’t been updated since last year. We’ll keep your note in mind as we refresh it!

I have used Camel, Camel, Camel, which is helpful with price histories, but haven't had much luck with its alerts. So this article's how-to information will undoubtedly be helpful for future shopping. It's a keeper. A hat tip to the writer and to Consumer Affairs!

Don't expect your review be accepted if it's negative. I don't know what their issue is but I left a review that exceeded the 200 characters a couple of years ago and today as I left a review for something else I saw my previous review was not accepted because it didn't meet the minimum number of characters. It was 5x the length of this review which has met the minimum length. Though it indicates more detailed review is better. Ok, here's more details:
    1. I don't believe this review is going to go through because it's about you.

    2. You asked for my name, address and email, to prove I'm a real person. I don't know why you really wanted that information if you weren't going to do anything with it.

I counted on you to take my complaint seriously and to take my review seriously. I question if you actually sold it to because I don't think you are authentic with their reasons. Still asking for more details? How about what are you doing to make this worth my time? I'm sure that this is an exercise in proving to you how long can you keep someone going, I feel I've been discounted as a human being let alone a consumer. Merry Christmas.

    Response from ConsumerAffairs

    Hi Janet,

I’m truly sorry for the confusion and frustration you’ve experienced — especially after taking the time to share detailed reviews with us.

To give some clarity: several years ago, we were using a different version of our review forms that didn’t always collect complete location information. When that happened, the system sometimes applied an incorrect non-publishable reason — including the “Too Short” message you saw. We’ve since updated and standardized our forms, but older reviews can still show these outdated flags until our team reviews them manually.

Your more recent reviews are coming through correctly now, and I’ve asked our team to take another look at your original review so we can publish it as intended. We value honest consumer feedback, and your voice absolutely matters here.

If you have any other concerns, please let me know and I’ll make sure we get everything sorted out for you.

I found this to be very informative as I had forgotten all about it. I think the reason I forgot was because I can't find any of my bills or records because everything was lost in a fire in which my house was burned to the ground.....and I mean ashes to ashes and dust to dust. It took the fire department almost three (3)hours to put the fire out and then clean up lasted until the sun went down the next day. Everything was lost and it took me months to get the necessary household items replaced a long with finding a new place to live. But the information here was helpful because I didn't know that I could file as a "tier 3" victim, and, while I can't get the same amount as some, every little bit helps me to get back some of what I lost. So, thank you for the update and if you are reading this, then you need to read the entire information, because you may find yourself benefiting from the information. Either way you have nothing to lose. Good luck.

Instead of getting information on many different companies that could provide what I was looking for, I got robo calls and bot emails. I was not looking to get a loan, just information on the different companies and options for the services I was considering for the procedure I wanted. I was receiving a robo call before I even start to review the information. I am beyond pissed about this tactic. I will have to think long and hard before I consider using Consumer Affairs again.

How do you come to this site for help and they do to you just like every other company out there. It's like they don't think we are human and people haven't had hard times. They don't even think of that. They just say your credit score doesn't qualify you for anything. That is sad and pathetic because im permanently disabled and working very hard to fix my credit and there are many reasons why my credit went down. I'm not my credit score and my fico score is HIGH!!!, it's looking for an apartment, filling out applications, then checking my credit that brings it down. It's not perfect but at least I'm trying to fix it and Consumer Affairs is even more judgmental than the companies and complexes you are trying to apply to, instead of helping. Helping with insurance etc. This is so wrong!!!!

    Hi Erica,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We’re sorry to hear how challenging this has been for you and how frustrating the process has been.

To clarify, ConsumerAffairs does not prevent anyone from using our tools or completing the process. In your case, it appears that none of the brands in our network were able to provide a match based on the information you shared. Some partners may factor in details such as credit score when determining eligibility, which can sometimes limit available options.

When this happens, we provide alternative resources on the results page—such as credit repair or debt consolidation services—that may be able to help depending on your situation.

We understand that a credit score doesn’t tell the full story, and we know many people face challenges outside of their control. Let's continue this conversation—you can email us at clientsupport@consumeraffairs.com with more information about what you're looking for, and we’ll do our best to connect you with resources that better fit your needs.

Upon preparing to submit a review for another company, I read the certifying statement below, certifying "that I have no personal or business relationship with this organization" (the very organization I was reviewing). I wrote to Consumer Affairs that I didn't understand this statement. Of course, I have a relationship with the organization I am reviewing; that's why I have an opinion about that organization. Moreover, why would I review an organization with whom I have no relationship? The statement goes on to say that my feedback statement here should be an honest reflection of my experience with that organization. How can I have an experience or an honest opinion about an organization with whom I have no relationship? None of this makes sense. CONSUMER AFFAIRS DID NOT REPLY TO MY QUESTIONS.

Consumer Affairs and its affiliated websites are not genuine, unbiased review platforms. Despite its official-sounding name, Consumer Affairs is a for-profit marketing company designed primarily to enhance a company’s online reputation, especially for those with poor reviews on other sites like Google. It is not a neutral or non-profit organization like the Better Business Bureau.

Many companies pay substantial fees to Consumer Affairs to generate positive reviews—some authentic, some fabricated—to artificially boost their ratings and online presence. As such, Consumer Affairs should not be relied upon for accurate or trustworthy reviews. It functions more as a marketing and advertising tool rather than a credible source of consumer feedback. Horrible company with deceptive tactics.

Updated on 02/14/2024: I have never received a response to my last query regarding auto repair warranty companies. BBB doesn't rate any of these companies higher than a D rating. Their advertising makes false claims, numerous issues to their living up to what they promise. There is no way that they SAVE consumers money.

Original Review: I'm somewhat disappointed in your reviews of these companies. They advertise that they save people money on car repairs but in actuality can cost far more than they would spend if they just saved money for possible future repairs. At $150/mo. the total annual cost of premiums would be $1,800/yr. which would not be of any benefit to the policy holder if no repairs were made in that calendar. I have owned numerous vehicles and ran them all well over 150,000 miles and rarely spent more than $1,000 in any one year. A person would have spent $9,000+ in premium payments in a 5 yr. period with any of these companies and yet make the claim that they are saving people money. Raises questions of your reviews' credibility. Sorry.

I originally had a review posted without my knowledge by “Pissed Customer” that was 1 star. It covered several issues I had with Light in the Box because I could not get customer service. Light in the Box contacted me once they saw the review on Consumer Affairs and satisfactorily resolved the problem by issuing a refund without requiring return of related garments. Consumer Affairs does not provide the option to delete reviews. My current review is 4 stars because of the challenge I had in contacting and receiving customer service.

First off, the link I followed advertised debt relief LOANS or debt consolidation LOANS. I followed your links and submitted information as directed. What a crock. I would have been better served if you had just said there is not a loan available. Instead I get referred to debt consolidation companies offering to consolidate my credit card debt into one low monthly payment. Sounds great until you read the fine print.

They do not pay your debts until you default on them. Meaning your credit report shows defaults on your cards. They take your payment, charge you up to 30% management fee. Then spread your payment out to your creditors. Negotiating with your creditors for lower payoffs. Which still destroys your credits. Absolutely despicable behavior. I do not understand how folks in your business sleep at night. Preying poor people just trying to stay afloat. If you did not refer me to a debt relief company? How did they get my information? And contact from your website?

I searched for a "self loan" to rebuild my credit after being in the hospital for 14 months fighting Cancer. I went to Consumer Affairs (this site) to see some suggestions on where to get the loan that you basically, make payments on to build a savings account and it is reported as a loan. - Consumer Affairs gave a GREAT rating to Credit Karma's build a loan program, then I went to Credit Karma and looked at their customer reviews. BAD all ONE star, these poor people trusted before doing their research and lost thousands of dollars, Credit K wants people to have their paycheck into a card account? - then they locked up the account and people lost all the money they EARNED by WORKING HARD at their job!

AND Consumer Affairs - gave Credit Karma a GOOD rating? - CLEARLY they did NOT do their research, or are being paid by Credit Karma for writing a ** "good" rating. Reminds me of the lying cheating stealing demoCRAPS, promise you the world, while stealing from you. - So, I stay away from Consumer Affairs, Credit Karma and the demoCRAPS - PEOPLE do your research, before you're taken advantage of.

Just like with job sites, negative reviews are deleted. So, when rating companies, just select 1 out of 5 stars and say something like, "I don't recommend this company". If you use names, if you sound "angry", if you're "complaining", your review will be deleted.

This review is for the people at CONSUMER AFFAIRS, but since they’re above reproach to be reviewed themselves, I had to do it here. I wrote an acceptable review on Etsy, which you didn’t approve and refused to publish. It was not profane, didn’t include anyone’s personal info, or anything. Review was copied and pasted from Trustpilot and Google, who had no problem with it. You also refused to tell me what was wrong with it, or allowed me to change it. You also offer no customer service to remedy this problem, not unlike all of the companies with bad reviews on your own site. Putting you on blast wherever I can. Don’t trust the reviews from CONSUMER AFFAIRS, as they disallow the truth and believe in overstepping the guidelines of censorship. Zero stars.

I'm angry that a three year old good review is at the top of the most recent review list, not once but twice! I didn't have any problems with Tracfone 3 years ago either, this was before Verizon purchased the company.

Thank you taking the time to share your experience with our site! We are showing 4 of your 18 submitted reviews have not been published. Of those 4, 2 we do not have a page for. In this instance, we want to cover as many options as we can, but generally do not cover all businesses who sell a specific product or service, as it's just not realistic for us to have a page for every single company. One review was duplicate, meaning you already have a published review for this company. The final review did not meet the minimum character length requirements for publication. We hope this helps!

What does Consumer Affairs actually help the consumer with? I’ve given you multiple instances of companies doing what they shouldn’t do and I don’t hear anything from your company. How is that someone can get banned from a community center with no good excuse?? How can people credit cards get tampered with on a regular and I see all these people reaching out to you. Why?? What do you actually do beside read and comment to us what you don’t do.

I have rights with a credit card that I haven’t seen put into place by either consumer rights agency or even by my own credit card company. They actually help more than you because they at least pick up the phone and HELP with disputes. What have you done?? What do you do?? Why do you have a job? And why aren’t you doing it!! I just read 10 reviews about ABC Financial that people are reaching out, begging for help. What have you given them?? Why can’t I complain about your company along with the many others that are allowed to practice fraudulent behavior week after week after month after month.

But I miss a payment and companies like you can place garnishment on me, ban me from places, don’t give money back for unsatisfactory product. They can do whatever you get want and you help the businesses!! I tell you that I’m banned from a community center and all I get is, we don’t help with that kind of harassment, inequality, bias, and whatever other word you can place in there Ty are not socially right and you guys just read our words like that’s what I asked for was a proofreader!!
