I purchased what I thought were two toilets from Buy.com AKA now Rakuten. They were described as "100% Glazed Trapway. Pressurized Flushing Action. 12 Rough-In. Anti-Siphon Ballcock. Low Water Consumption 1.4 Gpf. Meets or Exceeds Ansi and Csa Standards," and titled "Premier 582528 Pressure Assist Bowl Elongated in White." Like any normal person, I believed I was purchasing two full blown toilets (see screen shot with photo of toilet - the original pre-sold-out ad had even MORE descriptive info regarding the flushing action of the toilet...and so on).

Yeah...what I received were TWO... that's 2 bowls ONLY. No flushing action, no complete toilet...just two useless toilet bowls for over $200.00. I contacted the company and they sent me a generic "not our fault - contact the vendor" BS. I've opened a case with PayPal - and I plan on writing to multiple government agencies and posting as many negative reviews as I possibly can. Oh...and I'm contacting my attorney. This company should NOT be allowed to conduct business. In my opinion, this is entirely Rakuten's responsibility. I purchased the toilets from their site based on their fraudulent ad - and I told them as much. I gave them 24 hours to send me a shipping label and refund my account. I plan on being their worst nightmare - and yes... I'm furious!

I finally got my item today after tracking it down again with no help from the seller. I was promised a partial refund and none to this day. They wasted no time to retrieve my money from my bank a couple of days after purchase. This was a Christmas gift for my wife and it was never forthcoming and to make it worse my wife (disabled) was not able to get this gift till a month later. Horrible customer service and the worse eBay experience I have ever had. In all of my 3 years I've never had an incident until dealing with this company. I just read the other customer complaints and found the same experience as Raymond of CT. I placed an order on the Buy.com website for an Asus 11.6" Touchscreen Laptop (4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive, Steel Gray, Q200E-BHI3T45), and I already read all specification and warranty for one year from the category of "New condition".

I received a refurbished Asus netbook with a 90-day warranty. I contacted Rakuten (former buy.com), and they informed me that if I wanted a replacement, they would send again the refurbished one. Later that day, I found the same model with the same SKU advertised again for $480 instead of $345.99. They did an error in advertising and did not take responsibility for it. This is NOT A PROFESSIONAL company. I already returned the item and would not buy from them again.

I bought a refurbished laptop from them. On the product description, there was a link to their definition of refurbished. It said new or returned item may be lacking packing but unused and restored to like new condition, except for minor scratches. What I received was a computer with the disk restored to original programming, but the computer had seen hard wear. The spacebar and mouse buttons had been worn so much that the under layer of plastic was showing through. The area in front of the keyboard was heavily worn as if someone had been typing on this thing 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for a year or more. I know signs of heavy use when I see it. I suspect this was not a new computer returned but off lease. I complained, but they would not make any adjustment. They just offered to ship me another one, probably just like the first. I used it, but I really got no bargain. I am a very dissatisfied customer.

On the Best Buy website, Buy.com advertised an Asus laptop computer for $345.99. The website did not say refurbished and stated buying option new from $345.99. The specifications stated one year warranty, which comes with a new PC, so I ordered it. What arrived was a refurbished PC with a 90-day warranty and a dent on the top of the laptop. I called Best Buy, which referred me to Buy.com. They apologized that the ad was incorrect and that was actually for a refurbished model. They offered me a refund and a $20 voucher. I did not accept the voucher as I will never buy from them again! The laptop is being returned. I wanted a new laptop!

I placed an order in mid-April 2013 for a hard disk drive. About a week afterwards, strange charges started to appear on that Visa card. It was a new Visa card and the only place it was used at was Rakuten (Buy.com)! I called my Visa company and the rep said that he personally had received several calls from other cardholders that had to do with suspicious transactions after a Rakuten order. There were also many false log-ins into my online Visa account and an attempt to change my address by phone.

I also called the company that posted by charges and they said that other person's name was attached to those orders. Lastly, I searched Rakuten credit card fraud on the internet and I found hundreds of postings from people saying almost identical things. This is absolutely crazy! Rakuten wants to be considered like an Amazon but I've had better security from little one-person internet companies over the last 15 years. This has never happened to me before. Absolutely terrible security exists for Rakuten customers at Buy.com.

On 04-21-2013, I purchased 2 computers from Joy Systems (a great company with the best customer service I have ever dealt with). Apparently, when on Joy Systems' website, the purchase actually goes through Rakuten. The following day, I checked the status of the order and saw it was in progress and I had a credit of 1638 points ($16.38). Later on the 22nd, it would not let me check the status. It kept saying incorrect email. I contacted the company and they advised me that I was not using the correct email to get in.

After many emails back and forth, they kept telling me that I needed the original email. I kept asking how to retire or reset it and was constantly advised I could not reset it without knowing the original email (which I may have made a mistake when I ordered). After first saying they had no record of the order, I contacted the credit card company and was advised that a charge went through on 04-21-2013 at 6:49 pm from Rakuten. I gave them this info, the items purchased, all my contact info that was on the order and they refused to help me.

Two days ago, I advised them that if they wouldn't help me, I would refuse the packages and challenge the charges with the credit card company. FedEx later that day left the packages on my doorstep. I was going to send them back, but I do not want to create any problems for Joy Systems (who are an awesome company). Two days ago, in an email, Rakuten's rep said he never thought to call me on the phone (which is what I wanted from the start). They do not publish a phone number for the public on their website. He also said he would have a rep call me three days ago - no call.

This is the worst shopping nightmare I have ever been through. I am going to challenge this $16.38 amount when the credit card comes in and file complaints until I get it.

I ordered a laptop off Buy.com (apparently now Rakuten.com) and had it shipped to my home. I was not home when FedEx finally came by, so I called to have them hold the package at their facility. I was told that due to shipper restrictions, in order to hold the package, they would have to be contacted by the shipper. It was inefficient but okay. So then, I called Customer Service to have them call FedEx on my behalf to hold the package at the FedEx facility. I got a girl who could barely speak English tell me that unfortunately, they could not change the delivery address because of shipping restrictions.

So I asked what those restrictions were, and I was told that they needed a signature. Wouldn't I have to sign for a package at the facility as well as present an ID? So then I asked what my other options were, and was told FedEx will try to deliver the package 3 times and would then hold my package for pickup. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. So I have to wait 3 days for an action that I was requesting that day? Then she transferred me to a supervisor who says she will look into it.

I got an email later that day saying she would contact the vendor to honor my request, but she could not guarantee they would comply. Excuse me? I thought I was talking to the vendor. So she has to contact her own company to honor my request but can't guarantee her own company will listen? So I called customer service again to get some clarification, and was told by another non-English speaking person that yes, my request was passed along, but they are a big company with a lot of people working there, and I would be contacted by email if or when my request went through. Obviously, there are problems with integration within the new Rakuten/Buy.com. Next time, I will gladly pay the extra $50 and go with a company that provides better service.

I had purchased some items with buy.com and both times I used my debit card. And the 1st time I used buy.com, someone got ahold of my debit card information and used it to buy iTunes from Apple. So I, not knowing who got a hold of my credit card, immediately had my card cancelled. So after having my card cancelled and getting a new card number, I know no one has my number. So I made another purchase on buy.com several weeks ago, and just yesterday, I tried to withdraw some money out of my account and I couldn’t because a large purchase has been made by Macy's.com and I don’t make no large purchase from no store or no online store. So I’m very very very very pissed because now I know where those purchases came from on my debit card. I will never never again purchase from buy.com or any online stores ever again. Buy.com is a crook, so please don’t buy anything online from buy.com. Shame on you guys.

Furthermore, that was the last of those computers and they could no longer follow through with their end of the deal and that I should be expecting a refund. Wow! I begged them not to issue a refund as this purchase was a calculated tax write off for my business for the 2012 year and any purchase in 2013 would negate the entire purpose of me (planning for 11 months) on buying this computer. They refunded my money immediately after telling them that. It is completely unacceptable. I will hate Buy.com forever now.

Before I proceed, I'd like to say that I placed orders from buy.com many times in the past, but this experience has completely turned me off and I would never do business with them again.

I made a purchase on 4/18. The items were listed as In Stock and Usually Ships in 1 to 2 business days. I received instant order confirmations. On 4/25, I emailed buy.com asking when my orders would ship. On 4/26, Alexis replied, stating that on 4/19, someone left me a voice mail asking for more information, and to notify them if I did not receive this message. I replied, and asked for them to call me or verify my address through email. The same day, Tamie responded, saying that my info was forwarded for review and that my order would be processed in 1 business day. On 4/30, I got a voice mail asking me to call to verify my address, but no number was left. After hours on the phone, I finally verified my address. Within minutes, my orders were canceled by the marketplace seller, stating that the stock at the lower price was no longer available. They said buy.com took too long to process the order and it sold out.

I contacted buy.com asking them to honor the price, but they refused. I spoke with 2 reps before trading emails with Robert **. He claimed that there was a price mistake and said they will not honor the sale. This was not a price mistake and there was no reason to assume that. I purchased the items for $118, but buy.com claims that it is $1218. This sells for $599 everywhere else, so there was no reason to assume that it was fat-fingered. I figured this was a clearance item, since a new model of the tablet is about to be release. I was offered a $25 gift certificate, which I refused. Then they offered me $100, which I also refused. Then Robert offered to price match 1 of the tablets to a competitors price of $599, which was ridiculous because I could have just purchased at that price originally. After I refused, he stopped responding.

    This is unacceptable.

Almost a month later, my friend told me she never received the cover, so I log in to the website to find out that the order was put on hold. I called customer service and they told me that they called my billing phone number (useless, as I live overseas) to verify my credit card information, but couldn't reach me so they put the order on hold. I asked why I didn't get an email notifying there was a hold on my order, and the answer was "We can only call." I was also told that I should open a credit card in the country I'm in so that I can put down a phone number I can be contacted on.

They said the account specialist would contact me within 24 hours. Still nothing, so I had to call back and ask for rush delivery, which they now say is impossible unless I re-order my cover and pay for rush charges myself. I said forget it and cancel my order and then immediately, I received a lovely email notification saying that Buy.com has canceled my order because I was non-responsive to their inquiries. I still cancelled and asked for a return label to send it back. They said simply to refuse the item from FedEx. That would have worked if FedEx didn't just leave it at my doorstep without knocking while I was home. Another thing I was concerned with is Buy.com didn't request a signature upon arrival? Sorry, but I wouldn't want my expensive electronics sitting on my doorstep in the rain where it could be destroyed or anyone could take it. They should have asked for a signature for items over $400. I spelled out my email address probably 25 times for her (no exaggeration) and she still couldn't get it right! She said she couldn't understand me still.

I usually go through Amazon but Buy.com had a good deal on the Samsung NX200 camera for only $665. Anyway, I tried with PayPal and the order got cancelled, apparently because I used an unverified address, though they never told me why. I am now disputing the charge that showed on my PayPal account!

Then I used my Visa check card and the purchase looked like it went through, but, alas, they referred it to the Address Verification Team. I am about 12 hours ahead and by the time I saw the email they had cancelled the order. I called the team above (1-877-880-1030) and Victor looked into it and blamed me for having a gmx.com email account, saying they get a lot of fraud from those addresses. What? So you cancelled my order without telling me? He said he would reinstate the order but couldn't with two items. I would have to order them again.

So then I get an email confirmation at 9:02 pm saying the order was complete (with 2 items only). But at 9:03 pm there was an email for a cardholder protection form that required a copy of the credit card and a driver’s license. Then, without any action from me (I wasn't around), there was another email saying the order was complete at 9:05 pm. And to top it off, at 9:07 pm an email came canceling my order.

I am saving a couple of bucks was not worth this painful experience. I have never had an issue like this on Amazon. Payment processed on PayPal and dispute has been submitted. Remember the order was canceled from the beginning. There is a pending charge on my credit card. I am waiting to see that it comes off. I had to cancel my warranty with Square Trade, who has a great system to cancel. I will definitely check them out again for warranties. I am waiting for the charge to reverse.

Stay with Walmart or any local stores that have a refund policy that's better than anything online. Electronics are too unpredictable as to their length of use and it's nobody but you, as the long distant consumer, who loses.

I did not buy the laptop and I am appalled that they would lie for $100.00. I think that is a crime.

I placed an order for two "Focus" re-manufactured cartridges on 7-15-2011 (order # **) with buy.com and received confirmation that the order would be filled by Abacus24-7. I received the order promptly and was impressed, but surprised that the cartridges were of a different, no-name manufacturer with only an identifying logo that looks to be "GP". I put a new cartridge in the printer and it seemed to print nicely. I use my printer very seldom so I was taken aback when I had to replace the cartridge with my spare just a few moments ago. I estimated that I got about 6 to 10 pages out of the first cartridge and have to order more. This time, however, I will not buy from Abacus24-7.com and I'm considering the same for "buy.com".

DO NOT buy from buy.com as you don't know where they are getting their merchandise from and you have to deal with an unknown third party. I would have never bought the shoes had I known.

On 06/20/2011, I placed an order with Buy.com for a new Palm Centro GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), unlocked, for the amount of $49.99 plus $4.37 tax, for a total of $54.36. Shipping was free for this item. I used my Visa debit card to make this purchase. The charge appeared on my Visa account, immediately after making the purchase. On 06/272011, the Buy.com product was delivered to my listed address via USPS. The next day (06/28/2011), I opened the package and discovered that the cell phone was reconditioned, and not new, as advertised. There also was no computer installation CD (compact disc) for the phone's software. Further, the cellphone was a CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) model, not a GSM model, as advertised. For these reasons, the product which I received was useless to me, since my cellphone communication provider does not send a usable signal to phones which have a CDMA delivery format.

That same day, I sent a complaint to Buy.com, and was contacted by phone. The operator, Mariliza, assured me that my money would be refunded by the "marketplace vendor", or seller of the item, which was a company named "1SaleADay.com". I was assured that I would be contacted immediately by the marketplace vendor, but I did not receive a call or an email from this company. On 06/29/2011, I contacted Buy.com again, and requested an immediate refund. This time, I spoke with two operators and a supervisor, but I was told that my complaint would have to be handled by the marketplace vendor, 1SaleADay.com. I was told that the vendor would be contacting me immediately. This call was not received until an hour later, as I was contacting my bank to dispute the charge of $54.36.

I eventually received an email with an RMA attachment (Return Merchandise Authorization) on that same day, and a voice-mail message from Buy.com, regarding instructions for returning the merchandise to the vendor via UPS (United Parcel Service). My bank, through Visa, has issued me a provisional credit for the amount of $54.36, pending a refund from Buy.com /1SaleADay.com. In the end, I still do not have the phone that I paid Buy.com to provide.

When I told them that I wanted a full refund, self addressed and postage paid envelope sent, I did not hear from them again. I told Buy.com to refund me personally because they were very slow to help or respond.

Buy.com made yet another attempt to get them to help without my approval and the vendor allowed me only $4-$6 dollars postage refundable, which was less than my original order. They have made fancy excuses about why they haven't received my emails after Buy.com contacted them. It's funny how they knew how to get in touch with me after complaining to Buy.com. Buy.com has refused to work with me for the refund after they had promised this to me--if I continued in this struggle with their vendor!

The customer service people continue to deflect me back over to the vendors as well, and I have left my phone number on numerous occasions for a supervisor to call me back with no success! No offense, but I can barely understand them as it is with the language barrier. It sounds like I am reaching Thailand or something! I want a full refund including postage through Buy.com and no one else, unless, perhaps, you can persuade the vendor to give me my full refund. Hope you can help!

On October 31, 2010, I attempted to purchase a Sony KDL-46EX700 46" flat panel TV from the Buy.com website. The advertised price of $1,099.00 with free shipping was about $200 cheaper than any other advertised price that I was able to find. The item was (still is) listed as a marketplace seller offer from TigerDirect that stated "usually ships in 1-2 days". Well, I placed the order and waited 10 days without hearing a word from either Buy.com or TigerDirect, at which time I emailed TigerDirect. After allowing 2 more days to go by, TigerDirect finally emailed back saying "due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot ship the product you ordered".

Not the biggest problem I've ever had with a retailer. But then the TigerDirect customer service department included an unsolicited offer to substitute a "comparable product". Ok, so now I'm angry. This looks exactly like a classic "bait and switch scam". I told them to cancel my order and make sure my credit card was not charged. I then emailed Buy.com to let them know that I didn't appreciate being exposed to that kind of scam from one of their marketplace sellers and that I expected them to correct this situation. In response, the Buy.com customer service department sent an email saying "we really have no control over (and no responsibility for) the conduct of our marketplace sellers and they included a $20 gift certificate for my trouble.

I was looking on Buy.com and noticed a very good deal on a microphone that they had; it normally sold for $519 but they were selling it for $39 + shipping. The mic included a hard case and other accessories too. Buy.com was selling these for Adorama camera. I thought it might be a closeout or something. I ended up buying 6 of them because I thought it was such a great deal. I got confirmation from Buy.com that I had indeed purchased the microphones with accessories and that they would be shipped from Adorama Camera, NY.

I was very excited that I had gotten such a great deal on these because they were currently being sold on eBay for $400-500. When the package arrived from Adorama, I opened up the large box and there were 6 boxes, each labeled with the correct make and model # of the microphones that I had purchased.

I did not open the six individual boxes because I wanted to sell them as new; each box was labeled with the correct info, the Buy.com confirmation was in order. There was no reason to suspect anything was wrong. I quickly listed these microphones on eBay at a very competitive price far below the competition and they all sold quickly. I shipped them all out; one buyer paid to have his shipped overnight across country.

Well, then it all fell apart; the overnight buyer, who received his first, was very upset. Inside of his box was an empty microphone case. I soon got another disturbing email from another buyer who received an empty mic case. What had happened was someone at Buy.com had advertised the microphone with case and accessories, but in actuality, Adorama was only selling the empty mic case. Someone at Buy.com really *** this one up.

I looked at the packing slip that I had originally received from Adorama and it showed that they had in fact only sent 6 microphone cases; the six boxes that I received though had the microphone info on it and did not show the model # of the empty case. It appeared to have the microphone set in the box. I quickly wrote my six customers and explained what happened. I then refunded their money + shipping and informed them that they could keep the empty cases if it was going to be a hassle to ship them back. I was more concerned with keeping them happy so I wouldn't receive a lot of negative feedback or complaints with eBay at this point. I contacted customer service with Adorama and they pretty much said that they could only issue me a return shipping label to return the 6 empty cases to them for a refund of the original purchase price.

I contacted Buy.com customer service and after they investigated, they pretty much said what Adorama had told me. I then wrote the CEO, VP of Customer Service and Fred ******, the VP of Operations for Buy.com. Fred ****** was nice enough to reply and said he would check into my order. He had been misinformed that I had received empty boxes; he told me that I had in fact received empty cases instead, which I was aware of. I have emailed Fred ****** several times since then and he has not replied. I stated that I had purchased 6 microphones with case and accessories, that I only received the empty cases and that I would like to receive the 6 microphones with accessories that I had ordered and never received.

I sent an email requesting an immediate call back and got the "sincere apology" mentioned in so many other complaints on this site and was told the item was out of stock.

The only option offered was to send it back and they would "consider" a refund, 5-7 days after they received it back. No discounts on future purposes, nothing. Just send it back and hope for the best. The irony of this situation is I shopped an established retail outlet on line to avoid dealing with sketchy characters on sites like craigslist or eBay but I would have had none of the hassles listed above if I had done just that.

In a way, it's kind of nice to know my experience was not unique but I sure wish I'd found this site about a month ago. I wasted almost a month on a transaction that was advertised as a 2 (business) day turnaround and may still be out over $300 if they decide for whatever reason to not issue a refund (at which point, they can fight with my credit card company over it).

You can be assured that Buy.com will receive a very harsh, negative report, which I will most assuredly post on Amazon.com, for the entire world to read.

And, on a second note, you can consider that I will never purchase another item from their company, ever. I will make sure to tell everyone I know, to not purchase from them, either. I sure have heard of a dissatisfied customer telling a dozen people. Well, I have about 500 people in my email address book that I will contact, and let them know.

Their return policy of the original container is ludicrous. It is also unreasonable, at the very least, for this item, due to the way it is packaged. If it were packaged in a box, much like a network card, no problem, but shrink plastic wrapped? Come on! Lastly, I will absolutely now dispute the charge, and force Buy.com to spend more of your energy and resources to defend their business practice of sending out defective and non-working product. I would believe a fair and equitable resolution would be to replace the defective product they shipped to me. I don't even want my money back, just the product, to work as promised. I am out $70 for an item that is useless. All I want is to exchange the product. They, Buy.com, should be the responsible party, who has to contact the manufacturer, not the consumer!

I checked the status at 6pm on December 22nd and to my dismay, the order status was stuck at "Processing". I still had to go through "Sent to Warehouse" and "Shipped". I called the customer service line and was connected to a front line CSR. He was polite, but he was not able to tell me of the status of my order. I said that if it couldn't be shipped by Christmas, I didn't want it; and I would buy one from a local retailer. He said it was too late to cancel the order.

I was pretty pissed at this point. The checkout system told me it would be here and their CSR didn't seem to have any additional information. I honestly feel bad for causing such a commotion, and I am sure having some VP spend 10 minutes tracking down my order wiped out any and all profits they would have made on my order; they do need to improve their order status page. All of this could have been avoided if they updated the online order status faster and/or give their front line CSRs more information on order tracking. I didn't receive the purchase confirmation or the cancellation notice via email. The reason they claimed to cancel my order was the billing address was different from shipping. I had them shipped to my out of state sister's house.

I tried to call them but they don't have a listed phone number so I left my number for them to call back. I received a call back from their overseas customer service that barely speaks English with strong accent and doesn't listen. They asked me all sort of questions for "my protection" about myself and the order that could be barely answered. When I made the purchase, I checked out as a guest paying with PayPal so minimum information was given out during the purchase.

I was informed that as their policies, they do not ship order to different (unconfirmed) address than billing address. They told me, I can't purchase anything for friends and families and ship to them through their website. I refused to believe that, so I asked for a supervisor. I was put on hold for 45 minutes then got hung up.

I requested another call back. Half hour later, somebody called back, I immediately asked for a supervisor and he refused to transfer me to one and asked all sorts of questions, more than the first time, about the order which they canceled and never notified me or sent the purchase confirmation. I couldn't answer the questions and got so frustrated that I hung up on him.

Keep in this mind, I have made many purchases online and have them shipped to different addresses using PayPal. Now I have no presents for my nephews and niece. The items that they canceled are older games that are hard to find plus the prices have doubled and tripled since then. Now, I have lost 12 days and I'm not sure if I can get those games again and have them shipped before Christmas. What a bunch of jacks!

Three days later, I receive an e-mail saying they unit are in stock BUT NOW COST $129.99. I called and discussed this with two different representatives, (probably in India). All they could do was tell me I could buy the unit for $129.99 each. I think they never intended to sell these units for $115. In my opinion, this is deliberate dishonest marketing. BEWARE !

I purchased a pole mounted monitor arm for my LCD monitor to get it up off my desk and streamline its appearance. I found a great deal on the exact arm I wanted on Buy.com, placed my order and paid through PayPal as I have done with online purchases for the last 6 years. Less than 10 minutes later, I checked my order status and saw it listed as "canceled". I sent their service department an email asking why and was told it was because my PayPal account and address were "unverified". I have never in 6 years been denied a purchase from an "unverified" account through PayPal. I advised them to continue considering my order canceled and that if they still attempted to take my money, they would have charges filed with the FTC, FCC, BBB and the State Attorney General's office for Consumer Affairs.

I ordered two monitor privacy screens in the amount of $362. The screens were too small and returned them according to the impossible instructions. I followed it to the letter. But I have to say that the return process was bogus as well. I should have been aware when I realized there was no phone number to even confirm my order. So, I followed the return information to the letter when I returned the merchandise on 6/26/09. Today, 7/28/09, I received an email stating that I have been refunded the amount of $124 which means the company has $237.49 of my money. They essentially stole the money from me. I was charged $15.46 for shipping and handling which is fair. I have no idea what the $237.46 was for.

I called the customer service number that I had to hunt down on the web. I called their customer services and immediately asked a rep in the US. Did I get one? No. I knew I was in trouble then. The rep kept repeating the same thing over and over and over again. Something about expedite it to some experts. So, I kept asking the same question over and over again. When am I going to get my money and what the heck is expediting to experts? Give me the number and I will call them myself. I told her I wanted to speak to someone who was going to tell me when I would receive my money back. She then told me that after speaking to the experts, she would get back to as what their determination was? I said, "What? You have got to be kidding me." There was no earthly reason for Buy.com to keep $237.49 of my hard earned money for absolutely nothing. It's like I paid them $237.49 to keep their own merchandise.

Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. In fact, I am furious. If this company is California, then why are the customer service people in Manila, Philippines? Why are they not from CA? Don't you guys in CA need jobs? According to information I've seen, you do need jobs just like everyone else in America. I know a lot of people who would be very happy to have a customer service job.

I'll make it short and to the point. I was severely disappointing, dissatisfied and inconvenienced by order #**. The listing was for a pair (2) of new Polaroid A520 Pink Digital Cameras. I received an email the next day stating that there was a mistake and now they were only going to give me a single refurbished camera. These cameras were for my wife and little sister. This was a huge problem as they gave the option to cancel the order but I had already promised these to my family. The price was to good to be true but I definitely feel that once you sell something at a specific price, the company should honor the listing and learn from their mistake. A few days later, we received one scratched up refurbished camera and a software CD. The package was supposed to contain the following: a520 Digital Camera, 4 x AAA batteries, protective skin; wrist strap, USB cable, CD-ROM.

I received no batteries, protective skin or USB cable. At this point, I just felt swindled. After emailing them twice about my concerns, all they kept asking me to do was return the item for refund. I made it clear to them that I wanted the camera and wanted to continue doing business with them but this was unacceptable for them to not attempt to make a reasonable resolution. They just pointed in other directions when they made a huge mistake and did not acquire any type of loss as I did.

Local Embarq directory did not list any phone number to UPS.[Embarq never had any brains in their former disguise - so why list a seldom searched number like UPS or United Parcel Service ?????)The postcard allowed me two days right during Christmas to make it to UPS. I couldn't - work commitments! So, UPS has procedures in place and they returned my shipment to the origin. Good! Meanwhile, I was in touch with buy.com's mis-named Customer Care (???) people by email - getting only a pre-fabricated robotic reply that they are looking into it. I explained that by then - December 24 - they had held my money(as evidenced by Amex) since December 4 - and if they even looked at the UPS Tracking Service, they would know the shipment was on its way back to their contracted supplier in the East. The robotic reply fro buy.com was that they had forwarded the matter to their Escalation Team. That was on December 19 and they would respond 'once they find a solution'. It is now eleven days later - and the UPS Tracking site clearly states the item is delivered back to the original shipper. AND I HAVE NO REFUND, NOR COMMUNICATION FROM buy.com. They said I could inspect it outside but would not allow me to bring it in to my apartment to inspect. Long story short the TV was delivered broken. Finally I went to my credit card company and they were extremely helpful in refunding my money and only took 1 week to do so. After I told buy.com to pick up their tv because I had received my refund, they became much friendlier and helpful (because they realized they just lost $4000). This did not stop them from trying to make some money however. They told me I needed to ship the tv back at my own expense. Again dealing with my cc company I found out that once I receive my refund the company who sold the defective product legally has 30 days to claim their merchandise, otherwise I can just throw it out. I was told via email it was stalled in fulfillment. Given the holidays I assumed that was OK and they'd catch up. Another 2 weeks pass and I get an email saying the item is now back ordered. Not at all what I was lead to believe given the previous communications . Now there was no chance of getting the item in time for Christmas. 3 days later I got an email saying my ordered was CANCELLED. Apparently they were not able to get the product from their supplier. I believe their practices were deceptive in this case.

Simply one thing. Never buy at buy.com. When they sell you stuff, they seem to be a nice web site that has good return and refund policy and all.
But when you actually purchase things, your payment becomes their hostage. They will do whatever they want to do (such as holding your order and not cancel the item even if you call them several times) precisely because they have nothing to lose. This is really bad. It is as if they are vampires who such the blood off of the consumers. I dealt with their customer representative through a SECRET phone number (which I believe they run just for the sake of some consumer related law) I found on the internet, and the experience was flat out horrible. Cacelling a item even when it is not in the shipping process is extremely difficult. When I asked for cancellation, what they said they would do is putting a cancellation request, and they don't even know if the item will be shipped or not. They can do this because they have the authorization for full payment at their hand. What they are trying to do is to wait a few days to finish the shipping process, and then say that the cancellation request didn't go through in time. Then they will charge the full price. This bad process is combined with their bad reputation and service for the return and refund. Once you receive the goods, it will be extremely difficult to get the return and refund done. I have to contact them for a return label (which would take another 2-3 weeks). This is flat out horrible web site. I would NEVER EVER EVER purchase anything from this web site, and neother should you.

I received the full order all except one missing frame...the gold one. I contacted buy.com and I was told I had to contact the manufacturer/shipper Nextar. So I attempted to contact Nextar. They contacted me stating before they would talk with me I had to register the item I received of which I did (even tho this was a Christmas gift to someone else). Then I should call them at their customer service phone number. I tried calling for 2 days straight at different times of the day and held on the phone for 30 minutes plus each time. I finally left a message. Some rude customer service rep. called from Nextar on 12/5/2008 stateing that buy.com has done this to them before and that this particular item DOES NOT have a gold frame with it. They have a silver frame. I told them that would be fine and if they would please ship me that frame. She said she would...I believe that it will not happen, just by her attitude. Nextar has also contacted me finally threw email...this time stating..unfortunately the gold frame that I was requesting (even tho it is stated on buy.com)is not available for replacement. The frame was a special order for a different store. I called buy.com again and they stated that I should ship the whole order back for a replacement...I told her that was ridiculous for a part that the company should ship. If I sent it back it would be too late for Christmas. Neither of the companies are willing to correct this problem. What is a Reconditioned Product? A reconditioned product may also be referred to as factory-reconditioned, refurbished, recertified or repackaged. A reconditioned product can be anything from an unopened item the customer had second thoughts about, to an item that that was missing an accessory, was sent back to the manufacturer where they replaced the missing part, tested and repackaged it. Who Reconditions the Products? Manufacturer technicians or qualified, reputable outside technicians inspect, make any necessary technical or cosmetic changes, and test each product to ensure it is in like-new or almost-new condition and up to the manufacturers standards before it can be resold.

The above is from Buy.coms website, From the description i expect new or very lightly used returned equipment, a few scuffs OK, but not heavily used. The laptop I ordered had so much use the plating was worn off the left click button, the wrist rest had wear, the touch pad had wear, the cover was heavily scratched and had fade marks where a property sticker was placed and removed. This computer evidently had been used for business and traded in after being used for a period of a year or more. I feel that serious misrepresentation was made. What this means is 'no returns' - which isn't mentioned when you purchase the item on their webpage. Instead, I was directed to call a 1-800. I called the 1-800 thinking I would be connected to Buy.com customer service - but no, instead I was connected to a completely different company who does warrnty repairs - but NOT for Buy.com! Why would they direct someone to a company they aren't even affiliated with?

I tried to call Buy.coms customer service to speak with them directly (instead of their preferred and easily disregarded email POC) - they don't even list a phone number on their website. I finally was able to locate a phone number through a web search and non-Buy.com web page. I called and was immediately referred back to the unrelated 1-800 number. I had to demand to speak with a supervisor - I have been promised an email waiving their policy of 'no refunds or returns' on 'special return' products. I have not yet received a reply.

I plan on contesting the charge to my credit card as a frudulent/rip-off merchandise charge should I not hear back with the next few days. I do not expect Buy.com to come through with their promises based on other experiences I have read here - and on so many other websites. this will be the last transaction I will ever have with Buy.com.

I beleive this is just the tip of an ugly iceberg that will end up with me losing $200. I do not expect that Buy.com will do what they say, though will give them that opportunity. Based on other's experiences, Buy.com has a reputation for dissing' their customers, taking their money, and not looking back.

Buy.com takes your order, holds it without asking you, cancels it without telling you, then says it's your fault when challenged.

June 4, 2008, I ordered some items. Their website couldn't verify my credit card. I attempted to change credit cards. Their website will not allow it. June 5, 2008, Buy.com called me to confirm that I am I. Once they confirmed me, they said my order would go through. June 25, 2008. I emailed Buy.com to ask where my order is. They said it was cancelled because they couldn't verify my identity. I emailed: Nonsense! THEY called ME and verified my identity June 5. And, if they couldn't verify my identity, why did they put me on secret probation and ONLY cancel the order AFTER I emailed them? Because. I emailed them and asked them to re-order (with the sale prices, now expired). No. You may order from Buy.com; however, they randomly place you on double-secret probation, and, cancel orders and don't have the courtesy to tell you about it.

I have made couple of purchases with Buy.com in the past, but I never had to contact them at all so never knew that they don't have any customer service. last month I saw their newsletter that they are giving a External Hard Disk with big mail-in-rebate. The price attracted me so I ended up buying one. Mail original packing slip with UPC code was requirement for rebate. When I got the VOX hard disk the packing slip was for some other person and for some other product. Mistake happens, so I mailed the customer support (as they didn't have any tele contact) to send me a copy of the right one. No response in next two days, so I send a reminder, guess what no response. I mailed third time to get automated response. Only to hear that mail is not clear. With no way to contact back to clarify, I again mailed fourth time on site, making it as clear as possible. NO RESPONSE.

Mailed fifth time, by then part of me knew that I am not going to get any thing from this company. So I wrote full of anger that I am not going to buy any more from them. Its there mistake and they should help me out. This time I got a response, they are looking into the matter. 10 days past but no more reply. Which being in business I know that takes one click to Mail / Fax / Email a copy of packing slip. The company has framed them self as a big corporation, but originally they are a pathetic organization which dont even have a customer support. I still feel lucky that atleast I got the Hard Disk, otherwise who I would have been crying to.

I could n't get the rebate, now the post marked date has passed too. And Hard Disk costed me more then the store price.

I've made two purchases from Buy.com and BOTH ended in the same way. They strung me along for TWO months with each order, which should have taken at most 7 - 9 days, attempting to receive each order. Each time, the shipment would either get lost, and finally they would refuse to send me my order, and finally refund my money - only after about a two week period of processing a claim. Now mind you... that two weeks of waiting for refund was ONLY after two months of going through multiple attempts of reshipping process which entailed and required: days of waiting for a claim to get approved, then a week for a reorder to be process, and then another two weeks to find out it had been lost or never shipped, then you have to start the whole process over.

They have all their customer contact go through their outsourced, NON-English based customer service so they never REALLY have to field any complaints or issues. IF you're lucky and ask to speak with a REAL manager - you MIGHT talk with a U.S. based person, but to do so YOU have to wait 24 - 48 hours to receive a call back and hope to God you're there to get the call. Otherwise you have to call back to Burma to set up another call! I believe they're also just shifting thousands & thousands of dollars through their accounts to earn interest, all while never having to provide products to customers.

Never received products. I was refunded, but had to pay interest on my credit card for purchases I never received. I would join a class action law suit just to get buy.com off the internet!

I would state that I rarely had issues with this vendor but I have gotten one that is unexcusable. I made a purchase. I got everything all set and done and I went to complete out the order. I chose 2nd day Fedex but there was no dollar amount for the zip code. When I got to the confirmation of the order, I still did not see the 2nd day Delivery charge but assuming with everything was more or less memory and the Terastation, it can' be over $100. Low and behold, the delivery for everything was $285.17.

So I went back in and cancelled the order in 5 minutes (there is a five minute for the order to post and cancel). But with the 16 Kingston memory stick from ANTonline.com, I could not cancelled the order. I was ok with that assuming the delivery charge would adjust accordingly. But when I got the invoice from buy.com, the delivery amount did not change and I was like, it can't cost $285.17 for delivery of just 16 memory sticks that weigh no more than 1.5lbs. I contacted buy.com explaining that I cancelled and ANTOnline.could not be cancelled (which I did want) and the delivey charge has not changed. They stated to me that I need to contact ANTONline.com to cancel the order and everything would be taken care of.

Of course, their response is at the end of the day and I did not want to cancel the order. I wanted to freight to be adjusted when the memory stick from ANTonline.com is the only on the order now. BTW, the other memory sticks I cancelled was purchased on next buy.com order (right after cancellation) and it cost $5.49 for 2nd day delivery Again, Buy.com wrote back that I have to contact ANTONline.com to cancel the order if possible to get the delivery refund. I stated that i do not want to cancel but I want the delivery adjusted. This is not Next Day delivery, and the delivery amount for $285.17 was for the whole order. Also, I can't cancel since their responses too so long that I could only contact ANTOnline.com the next day (in which they did deliver) Also, When I placed the order for the Terastation on 5/17/2008, 2nd day shipping is $5.49

So with everything but the order from ANTOnline.com, the delivery charge would be $10.98. So 16 memory stick delivery cost is $274.19? I went further to check the delivery cost of Kingston 16 through ANTOnline.com through buy.com They do not even provide 2nd business day as delivery and they provide shipping as 1) Standard 6-9 business days 2) Express 3-6 business days Costs: $115.00 for Standard and 279.68 for Express. Plus, why would I want that type of service if they can't guarantee to delivery it in 2nd business days? Could you see my point here? Obviously, that did not show up in anything until do this with this item alone..

Since the order is vague, I went to ANTOnline.com to see the delivery cost The delivery cost of the memory for UPS Ground (Standard) $17.66 and they do not even provide me 2nd day delivery options... So I called them directly asking me how did over $200 cost of delivery could be charged on my card for 16 memory sticks. They stated that they did not and the order is through buy.com So I am back to square one and buy.com refer back to ANTOnline.

The issue is I ORDERED THIS THROUGH BUY.COM! They charged a number that is crazy for anyone to accept for 16 memory sticks. I could not cancel and their response was inadequate to even cancel. I stated that the delivery charge can't be $200 for it since I got a quote from UPS and Fedex stating it would not be over $50.00 for delivery. So where is $200 cost coming from? The interface marketplace ordering separate from other items (that was going through buy.com) shows anything distinct on delivery and charges (let alone delivery charge until AFTER THE ORDER was placed). I will try again contact ANTOnline.com but I am fed up with buy.com's not meeting customer satisfaction. Heck, even 3 resellers agree that the charge is excessive and ridiculous.

We are a small-business that was on a financial crunch at this moment in time. We had delinquent accounts and we needed enough money to cover payroll for the week. Instead, we have to take surcharge for over the balance fee for our company (since we pay balance including the credit card to not get charged interest rate until issue was resolved). I placed an order on 03/20/08 and used a 5% off coupon. Later that evening I received an email stating the item shipped via FedEx Ground. WOW, that's service. Early the next morning I track the package and status shows on truck for delivery. Very exited I wake my wife up and tell her that FedEx will be coming today and to listen for the doorbell. I leave for work at 10:00am and get home about 6:00pm.

No package yet. Track package online and status shows delivered on front porch at 9:09am. Nothing there when I left at 10:00am. Called FedEx and buy.com to trace package. 2 days later, FedEx driver confirms that he did leave the package on my porch. I live in a high foot traffic area and carriers usually leave a door tag if nobody answers the door. buy.com doesn't ship with the signature required option so it's at the drivers discretion to leave the package. buy.com says there is nothing they can do, the package was delivered and also, once it leaves buy.com liability has been transfered to the consumer.

There is no option at checkout for the consumer to protect their investment, buy.com controls the shipping method and therefor should be held accountable for secure delivery. Saving .75 cents on shipping by not requiring a signature is absurd and not looking out for the customers best interest. The revolution card statement came and there was no $50.00 credit reflected. Customer service says promotion can't be combined with any other offers like the 5% off coupon that I used.

Finally, on the 7th business day, the Cust Serv agent was willing to see what the status was -- yup, item not available!

I was placing an order from Buy.com; as I entered I noticed there was a $16 shipping fee. Per their info there should not have been any. I immediately (within 4 minutes of making the order) sent a cancellation of the order. I received an email stating they would try and stop the order from being sent. Two days later I received one of the items I had ordered, the rest came about a week later. Now they tell me I can return the items at my own cost.

This means that only have been charged an erroneous amount of shipping charges, I now have to pay to return.
