So many products had tomatoes as the base to their sauce and after 6 months on the program, there just was not enough choices anymore and we lost heart in being on the diet. My wife is now headed for stomach surgery to help her lose weight and since I only need to lose another 30, I am left with trying to find a way to reduce the size of my stomach so I can eat less right along with her as she follows the doctor's plan for her.

The program was very helpful in redefining portion control. I also enjoy reminders of what to eat at what times. The food was good and there was a great variety to choose from. Good results!

To try to make a long story as short as I can, I went on a short trip with my daughter to Chicago with my daughter to her nurse convention. We were given wrong information on getting to our hotel. We ended up having to walk almost two miles. While walking, half of my face went numb. When we got back home, all kinds of test were done but thank the Lord nothing was found wrong with me. My doctor told me I had a warning sign and I have got to lose weight. A member of my family had lost weight with Nutrisystem, so I knew it was a safe diet plan. Nutrisystem has proven to be the best thing that happened to me!
I love that my food comes to my front door. You get weekly encouraging newsletter by email and the encouraging little bears for every ten pounds you lose. Through another daughter I found out I enjoy pool walking and that with Nutrisystem my weight came down. I cannot put in words how much better I feel, and I am more active too! Thank you Nutrisystem!

Nutrisystem has proved to be a positive experience for me. Really, I wasn't sure I'd like the food so I bought a 5-day trial at WallyWorld and gave it a try. I loved all of it, some more than others, and opted to sign up for the Men's Basic Plan. My starting weight on 01/26/13 was 205 lbs and I set what I thought was a very optimistic goal of 180 lbs. Sheezam! On 04/08/13, I hit 180 lbs! My most recent weigh-in on 05/11/13 was 173 lbs and I'm holding steady right there. I closely followed the program with few substitutions and added the recommended vegetables and fluids. I did no regular structured exercise but did walk or ride my bicycle 2-3 times a week. A+ Nutrisystem! I knew if Terry Bradshaw could do it, I could do it.

The portion control is a big help in beginning a new way of eating for many who tend to over indulge. There are enough choices that most can find something that will fit their diet, schedule and tastes. If in the beginning one is pretty strict, it helps to motivate you. However, as time goes on, it is somewhat helpful to eat your own food for a few meals during the week so that you learn that you will be able to do this when you get to your goal without being totally dependent on Nutrisystem food forever. I have lost 40 lbs, am a size 6 (down from a 12/14) and smaller than I have ever been, even back in high school.

I started on Nutrisystem (NS) in late November 2012, right at the start of the two holidays with probably the most eating. I have lost 25 lbs as of late April. I then went on a 1-week cruise and am now back on NS, on my way to losing more and surpassing my initial goal. That may not be a lot in that time frame, but the way I see it and from past experience, the slower it comes off, the more likely it will stay off. The plan just works and while I also lost some weight on another plan many years ago (WW), I believe the important differences between these two that are a part of NS are what you eat when and convenience.
The plan guides you to eat proteins early and smart carbs later. I believe this has helped with not only the weight loss but also helps me feel better physically. Additionally, the main entree for lunch and dinner has sort of become the side item, while veggies have become the main food item (in terms of quantity). The convenience factor plays a huge role in being able to stick with it. If I'm not in the office, I just grab a bar and go. I am also a vegetarian and have been able to find enough selections to have variety for all meals and snacks. Overall, the plan has given me a new perspective and a great guide on what to eat when that should make for an easy transition when (if?) I do decide to go off of it.

Following the plan as directed, I used both a standard menu and then created an a la carte menu of my favorite meals. It took me approximately 200 days to lose the 20 lbs of unnecessary weight to attain my goal of 157 lbs. I am over 60 years old and I am just under 5 feet 10 inches tall. I am very pleased with the success and the ways I have learned to change my eating habits and calorie intake. I am already recommending Nutrisystem to anyone who wants a fast and easy way to carefully and safely take off pounds of unhealthy weight.

I've only started on this program for a week and I am somewhat satisfied. I've lost only 2 lbs and find the food just okay. I am planning on calling Nutrisystem today to tailor my plan. I feel the breakfast, snacks and deserts, and even lunch is okay but I like to cook. Eating every night from a box depresses me. It's all about portion control and if I can control myself during the day with your system, I plan on going that route. Also I find the food has a lot of sodium in it. I have high blood pressure so I'm thinking this is not a good program for me. Last night the mac and cheese felt like I ate a bowl of salt. I didn't loose anything today, so more water intake is needed. I am not a quitter, but need to tailor this program to fit my needs for sure.

I was complaining the other day about not being able to return the product due to the ingredient, Maltitol, that made me ill. This a.m., I spoke with customer service and the rep was very helpful and I can return the unused food items for a refund! My confidence in doing business with the company has gone up considerably. I now understand that if you are like me, sensitive to Maltitol, your counselor can help you select foods without. Thank you, Nutrisystem!
Original Review: May 11, 2013
Beware: Most of the products, especially breakfast and snacks/desserts, have Maltitol syrup which can make you very ill with stomach cramps, pains, and excessive gas. Many folks are affected by this including me. I ordered a sample pack and realized after receipt the nasty ingredient. Since I ordered a sample pack, the company refuses to let me return the unused portions (most of the product) for a refund or partial refund. Horrible PR!

Last year, I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and placed directly on insulin injections. I turned to Nutrisystem to learn a better and healthier way of eating in hopes of getting my blood sugar under better control. A little more than a year later, I've lost 79 pounds and my nurse practitioner has taken me off the insulin completely. I find the plan easy to follow and the food is tasty. Nutrisystem worked so well for me that I continue to eat their food even though I am at my goal weight now.

There is no flavor in anything, even the popcorn. I bought the one week sample plan and so far have thrown away six items after one bite. I did like the ham and beans soup. I was expecting far better taste and texture from all the raves I hear. This food is not worth the money I paid, even at discount. My husband won't eat it either and he eats everything.

My work schedule often results in long days and I am too tired to cook or even think about what I want to eat for dinner when I get home. Nutrisystem has made it very easy for me to select from a healthy, interesting and tasty variety of meals with just a little prep time for some steamed veggies to accompany the entrees. I found myself looking forward to dinner with the variety of choices. It is almost like dining out every night, choosing from a restaurant menu. I have achieved my goal weight but am continuing with Nutrisystem to maintain it for the same reasons it worked to lose the weight. It works well for my lifestyle.

I knew I had reached a point in my life where I had to do something about my weight or be miserable the rest of my life. I had been unhappy for years about it, but continued to eat; food was my best friend. I decided to try Nutrisystem because I did not have to make a big deal out of preparing meals. That attracted me the most. I had done another weight loss program but did not like counting points and planning what to cook everyday. This plan works. The food is very good. There are a few items that I did not care for but only a few. I just removed them from my plan the next month and replaced them with something I knew I liked.
I have lost 25 lbs. since mid-January 2013. It is a slow and steady process, but it works! I have always had stomach and digestion issues most of my life. I could never really figure out what foods I could eat and could not eat to keep from waking up in the morning feeling nauseous. At one point, I just wanted to stop eating. I was so frustrated with feeling like that every day!
I was skeptical about Nutrisystem, but after the first month, I was sold! I love the program. The counselors are excellent and responsive. I have not had any problems with any of my orders. I still fix my husband a meal, similar to what I am having sometimes, but I just love being able to pick out my meals, popping them in the microwave or oven and enjoying the food. I highly recommend this program. The portions may not be large, but you get to eat often throughout the day, and you even get dessert!
Give it a try. The first week, I lost 7 pounds! Not typical I know, but from that point on I have lost between 1 1/2 to 3 lbs. a week. If you are really ready to stop whining and get SERIOUS about losing that weight, Nutrisystem is for you. Give it a try!
Congratulations on your continued success on the Nutrisystem program. We are pleased that you find the program easy to incorporate in your busy lifestyle. A happy customer is a successful customer. Best wishes to continued weight loss and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Regards, Jean Seward

I ordered the packaged meal from Nutrisystem in March 2013. I only ate 10% of meals due to the taste was not pleasing nor fresh (packaged food). I tried to cancel my order to prevent the 2nd food shipment arriving since I did not eat the first. The sales representative was not very nice, and because I cancel the order, she said I would be penalized by having to pay $82.00. I told her I did not know this and she said it’s part of the contract. They automatically debit my account! Such a freaking scam.

I became a member 5 weeks ago. I ordered the family plan for me and my husband. His order shipped out the same day. My order, I had to call, email, call, email. Customer service is horrible. I've never been treated so poorly. One lady, Margaurite, is the only nice one there. Here we are, month #2, and same problem. I've called, emailed, called, emailed and now 5 days after I've been charged my order, I am being told it's in the warehouse. Mind you, that's where it was 5 days ago too. So, of course, they have their money and I have nothing but a headache. Do not fall for this like I did. Save your money and the stress. I will never recommend Nutrisystem to anyone. My husband and I started on Nutrisystem on Feb. 27, 2012. He has lost 80 pounds and I have lost 95! We were both ready for a lifestyle change. It took us about a week to get into the Nutrisystem routine and to learn which foods we could have and when. There have only been a few items on the menu that we didn't like but with so many choices, it's not a problem. One of the lessons I have learned is that it takes time and planning to eat healthy. If we are going out to eat, I check the restaurant menu beforehand so I have an idea of what my best choice is.
I also pack a healthy snack just in case I get hungry while I am out running errands. No more stopping for fast food! (Fat food) A friend asked me if I was allowed to have french fries. I said of course, I can have french fries but I choose not to! This is all within my powers! Nutrisystem has been wonderful for both of us. We have a spring in our steps as we walk for exercise. I have even started playing competitive volleyball again! Thanks, Nutrisystem!

I have been very happy with the Nutrisystem food and the weight I and my wife have lost. However, I am not at all pleased with the software that we have to use. The problem is that it will not work when we go to order our food. It took us two orders before we figured out that our orders had been wrong for three months. Problem is every time you put in a change in an order, it says that it is saving and moving to another meal. Then when you try to finish your order and save, it locks up and never saves your order, and then your order comes incorrect.
After talking to your rep, she tells me it does the same for her. Then some customer service rep tells us we need to download another web browser and then tries to give us 15 free items, which we were not able to order. My wife spent over 45 mins on phone trying to order her food last month and no telling what will happen this month. I am pleased with the food. If I could get what I really order, would be nice... Right now very very disappointed...

My weight management journey has been a roller coaster of successes and failures, but mostly failures. I tried to make up for my growing waistline by living a happy, fulfilling life, yet, when I was completely honest with myself, my obesity always undermined my ultimate happiness. I just wasn't happy in my own body and nothing I could do really solved that problem. Having tried other weight loss programs unsuccessfully only added to my feeling of failure; I felt as if I was destined to be overweight for the rest of my life! Feeling trapped and eating more to combat the stress of life, I began to feel the negative health effects of my eating and lifestyle choices. Things weren't getting better; they were getting worse!
When I made the decision to start Nutrisystem, it was simply because I knew I had to do something to regain my health, self-confidence, and happiness. I also knew I needed something easy. I needed something that would work with my busy life and my budget. Nutrisystem proved to meet all three of those requirements, and in less than a year, I had lost 100 pounds in a very healthy way and I feel amazing! Speaking metaphorically, I was like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis! I had always had the potential to become that butterfly, but it was up to me to create my chrysalis and move through metamorphosis.
Nutrisystem was that chrysalis, and oh, I am one happy butterfly! In other words, I continue to live a happy, fulfilling life, but this time I feel I fully represent who I've been inside all along. I was just waiting for the right support to get there, and Nutrisystem provided that support in an easy, affordable way. On a wonderful side note, I have been maintaining my healthy weight and lifestyle successfully for almost nine months! This is attributed largely to Nutrisystem's excellent plan and support system! Nutrisystem works!

Lost 52+ pounds on Nutrisystem - I have Type 1 Diabetes with complications of peripheral neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy, high blood pressure and hypothyroid disease. Before I started Nutrisystem, I was struggling terribly with my health. I was starting to become depressed because I couldn't do anything. It hurt too bad to walk or stand for more than a few minutes at a time. My diabetes was in a higher range than it should be; I just was so miserable. Once I started Nutrisystem, I knew I wasn't going to break off this plan because my health was in jeopardy and my life was in jeopardy. I needed an easy plan, a plan that was going to be easy to follow and one that I can live with the rest of my life.
I lost my weight in 6 months. During that time, as I was losing, I learned how important my food choices were, how important low-glycemic foods were to me as a diabetic and exercise. I went to the gym regularly able to ride the stationary bike. After losing my weight, my body needed time adjusting to the new me with less weight and over time, my numbers started dropping and my A1C is now 5.6%! I have no more high blood pressure and my neuropathies are under control and very minimal. I can now walk as my primary exercise that I love to do. I have been maintaining my weight loss for 4 1/2 years. I love Nutrisystem and I have been an advocate of theirs for a long, long time!

Realizing that both my wife and I were overweight, eating unhealthy fattening foods, not knowing anything about dieting, I continued to procrastinate until a doctor's warning made us realize that our unhealthy lifestyle would shorten our lives! We concluded that we must immediately take control of our lives if we wanted to live longer, see our four grandchildren of various ages grow up, get married and live to become great grandparents! Not knowing anything about dieting, I decided that whatever program I started with had to be easy to learn, provided telephone assistance whenever I need it, not require cooking skills, attendance at meetings or keeping track of calories and points. These requirements were important to me since my wife is partially disabled and I prepare all meals and snacks.
Nutrisystems met all of my requirements, so my wife and I bravely embarked and became members in May of 2012. We started with the basic, least expensive program offered. To my amazement, we both started losing weight slowly but surely. Nutrisystems provided most of the food, which I had to supplement with fresh salad ingredients as well as other extras allowed on the program. After several months of dieting, we became bored with eating and ordering the same foods. We spoke to a Nutrisystem telephone counselor, explained our concerns and learned about upgrading to the Select Program, which offered additional frozen food selections to supplement the other meals and snacks. This has worked well for us and offered more of a variety.
During the past year, we learned we can eat in restaurants, how to utilize portion control and add exercise as time permits. My wife and I now eat out regularly and even take cruise vacations without gaining a significant amount of weight. It took me 8 months last year to lose 42 lbs and since January 2013, I went off the Nutrisystem program and have maintained my goal weight for the past 4 months. My wife is continuing on the program and has lost an amazing 60 lbs. By year end, she should be at her goal weight. With commitment and a weekly weigh-in to monitor your weight loss progress in the privacy of your home, anyone can lose weight using Nutrisystems.

I had a family member tell me how hard it is to cook healthy food, and I thought I eat healthy food and don't sweat over a stove cooking. I just use the microwave and eat raw vegetables and fruit. I had never really had a problem with my weight before turning 50, having gone through menopause and having quit smoking. I was 50 pounds overweight (the most I had ever weighed in my life) and did not have a clue as to how to start dieting. I decided to try Nutrisystem after having seen the TV commercials and checking the website out. It took me about one year to lose the weight, and it was the easiest thing I had ever done. The first thing I learned is that it is not a diet, but a lifestyle change, portion control and healthy choices being a huge part of it. I had taken nutrition classes, but it took doing the Nutrisystem program to get me to eat breakfast (can't imagine a day without it now) and to eat fruits and veggies.
My husband was amazed at my progress as he said it seemed like I just ate all day long. I would highly recommend the program to anyone who is serious about getting control of their lives and learning healthy habits. (My cholesterol is within normal levels for the first time in 20 years.) There is enough variety in the food that I did not get bored and enjoyed eating the convenient meals. I love to run and have competed in many 5K races. I have taken three 2nd place medals in my age group. Nutrisytem is like an old friend to me now after 3 years and I don't know what I would do without it. Thank you for giving me my life back! I am Happy, Happy, Happy!

Before starting on the Nutrisystem program, I had tried a number of ways to reduce my weight, which ranged between 190 and 200 pounds. Some of these programs even worked (at one point I had lost about 25 pounds), but only for a limited period of time. Within six months, I always regained all the weight I had lost and then some. I started on Nutrisysem 7 or 8 years ago. Within 8-10 months from the start date, I lost about 30 pounds. I’m down to 165 pounds, and I am still there today. For the last several years, I have relaxed the regimen, and I am on what I would call a "maintenance program". I place my order with Nutrisystem every other month (+/-), instead of once a month, and that enables me to stay where I have been for the past several years. The food is good, with lots of choices, and not expensive. I can only say: "Thanks Nutrisystem"!

My experience with Nutrisystem has been exceptional. I was determined to lose weight with the announcement of my son's wedding. I had been overweight since his birth. The stresses and sadness in my life had continued to add more and more weight on. I had tried every diet imaginable with little success, only to give up after a short while or stop and gain it all back plus more. I had really come to the conclusion that weight loss was impossible for me, and that a heavy person is who I had to be. I didn't like doing anything in public, even with family, because I hated what I looked like and felt even worse. I despised clothes shopping. I had a year to lose 90 pounds, and although I wanted to lose it, I truly had no idea how.
Then came an ad in our Sunday paper with Marie Osmond. I looked at it and put it aside. The next Sunday there was her ad again and this time, I did look it up online. That evening, I saw another ad with her on TV, and that is when I decided this is what I needed to do. To make a long story short, I succeeded on Nutrisystem, and might I say, with flying colors. I lost 92 lbs in 10 months. I owe the success to Nutrisystem of course, but also to God, my family, Leslie Sansone's walk tapes, Marie Osmond, my exercise group and so many more. It was all such an awesome journey that was full of new experiences, joys, and the feeling of accomplishment. I didn't always lose each week, but whenever I didn't, I was that much more determined to lose more the next week. I was going to get my monies worth and there was no stopping me.
The wedding came and it was wonderful. Many people hadn't seen me in a while and commented they may not have known me outside the wedding. On many occasions, I have had people walk right by me and not recognize me. It has been such a life changing event, and I wonder why I had not been given this chance years ago. Nutrisystem is a wonderful program. They have thought of everything - from the color coded packages, the website, the discussion boards, the counselors, the recipes, the bears, just everything. It is all there for you. You just have to want it bad enough and do it. I owe so much to Nutrisystem - my life, my happiness, my health, and my self esteem. I emerged from that low hidden place in that overweight body so missing out on the world and life. The past year, I have had the privilege of being in photo shoots and advertisements for Nutrisystem. It was another huge joy in my life. I never thought by ordering that first box of food, my life could change so much. I belong to a great group of maintainers on one of Nutrisystems discussion boards, and I am happy to be a part of our group of staying on maintenance and still learning the ins and outs.
Recently, my father-in-law and both my sons have begun the Nutrisystem way of life. I am proud to say that they are all doing phenomenal. It is a joy being such an influence in their weight loss journeys. My father-in-law is no longer threatened by diabetes. People are telling me all the time what an inspiration I am to so many. I didn't begin doing this for anyone but myself, and with God's answered prayers and his guidance, I was shown Nutrisystem. I lost the weight, but gained the world in happiness, health and so much more. It truly has been a chance of a lifetime. When I see myself on TV, I just smile and say I can't believe I did that. Too funny! What an accomplishment it has been. I will forever be grateful to Nutrisystem and everybody affiliated with it. If anyone asks me how I lost it, I will forever give Nutrisystem and God the credit. Every person out there struggling with weight deserves this happiness, and I will continue to share it with them all.

My wife and I went on the program in late August. I wanted to lose 10 lbs. and set a goal of 20. She wanted to lose more. Neither of us looked all that heavy but we needed to lose. In December, I had lost 37 lbs. and she had lost about 30 lbs. My doctor told me not to lose anymore but was thrilled with my new physique. My wife had lost about 25 lbs. by then, and I had lost just short of 40 lbs by now. It is an easy program. Our kids are long gone so it is just the two of us. I travel as a business owner, and I can do fine with it on the road. We know portion size, when to eat, and it is a breeze. We highly recommended it. No brain damage trying to count calories, etc. Most of the food is good to great, and we eat tons of vegetables, etc. Thanks. The new wardrobe is a welcome expense!

After years of failed diet attempts, yo-yo dieting, starvation dieting, and binge eating, I finally listened to my husband and ordered Nutrisystem. He had no connection whatsoever with Nutrisystem other than what he had seen on advertisements and thought it was worth a try. At that point, I was miserable, gaining weight and was beginning to feel like "this is just what the 40’s look like". I agreed to try Nutrisystem as a last ditch effort at weight loss. If I failed at this last attempt, I honestly believe I would have thrown the towel in entirely on dieting and my health and just continued to progressively gain more and more weight as I continued to age.
At first, I was very skeptical at whether it would actually work. I was very hesitant about spending more money on diets as none of them seemed to actually work for me. Well, after a week on Nutrisystem, I realized immediately that this was going to work for me. I was very satisfied with the food, the amount of food, and the fact that I was losing weight. The first few weeks, I lost 2-3 pounds each week. I immediately knew that this would work for me because it was a realistic, healthy lifestyle. No skipping meals and then binging on food because of the deprived feelings.
I immediately loved Nutrisystem. I know that I will follow the Nutrisystem eating plan for the rest of my life and will probably continue to order my favorite foods from Nutrisystem for years to come. The food is priced well, very close to what the frozen diet entrees cost in a grocery store. And better yet, they are delivered right to my door. I love Nutrisystem, and I recommend it to everyone. I have several friends who I have encouraged to join Nutrisystem and have heard nothing but positive things from them as well. I love the product. I love my new lifestyle, and I’m finally learning to love and accept myself and my body.

I have been using Nutrisystem for almost two years and have lost about 70 lbs. Overall, I am very satisfied, especially with customer service. The biggest complaint would have to be the way they handled changing the Advance to Success. So many ready-to-go foods were discontinued and NOTHING to replace them with for almost a year. The attention changed to frozen. The program taught us portion control! Wow, that was a big one for us. It got us eating even more vegetables and fruits and really learning to balance our eating with exercise. Maintenance could use a little more help, like some online weekly tips of the variety they use for the first 13 weeks on the program.
The bears we earn are just adorable, and I can say they really did motivate me for many months as it was a fun thing to look forward to in our BBB. I have noticed in maintenance that the delivery of BBB is less exciting. I was just thinking this month that it would be fun if maybe they inserted tiny surprises for those of us who continue to order but are not losing weight, maybe even just a sample of some food, or an extra dessert with an attached "Keep it up!" card or something. Nutrisystem is a great program that really does make it possible to lose weight at home, teaching skills along the way. New foods, more often without losing large amounts of our favorites at one time, would also be a thoughtful way of treating customers.

I have never been able to go back on any diet program a second time, but Nutrisystem made that possible because the food is satisfying and there is so much variety. After three months into my experience, I was no longer able to customize my order online. Several calls to customer service over several months failed to make any progress in resolving the issue. They said I should delete my cookies. I could not make changes from four different computers using two different browsers on each computer. "We can change your order for you," they said. That's not the point; I wanted to change it. I should be able to change it because it’s designed to be user maintainable using the web, so fix it. I will tell my friends that the program works, but if you need customer service, you are screwed. They just don't care about that aspect. I'll also tell them about your substitutions of food that I don't like for what I ordered because you have shortages (e.g. months without Chef's entree's and other subs). If I had not lost the weight I wanted to lose, I would be irate. Instead, I'm just disappointed you failed to measure up on customer service when it would have been relatively easy to succeed.

I like Nutrisystem because they make making meal choices easy. The food is not that bad and again, it's easy to make a daily selection. The only thing I would change is not everyone likes mushrooms, peppers and Latino type food. I see nothing that is for the plain taste bud person... or of maybe, Polish-tasting food. Therefore, sometimes it is difficult to make good choices when they stay within certain ethnic tasting foods.

After being on Nutrisystem for 15 months, I have lost a significant amount of weight - over 60 pounds - and have been maintaining that loss for several months. The areas of the program that were most beneficial to me were the online support and the re-thinking about the meaning of food - when it is eaten, if there are triggers associated with overeating, what food meant and means to me. For me, this was a process that took some time but during that time, I was consistently losing weight and feeling healthier and happier.
I'm indebted to this program as it has helped me in several ways; I'm feeling well, have reduced pain/discomfort due to excess weight and am now comfortable in a high activity level. I've always been an active and reasonably athletic man. I was derailed several years ago with a significant health issue; the weight came on and did not come off. Even when I re-started my exercise regime of running and swimming, my weight was unchanged. I certainly found that my diet, and not my exercise, was the issue.
With NS, I reduced my calorie count, ate lower GI foods, ate more fresh vegetables, less fruit and noticed a difference within one month. It has been a very positive experience for me and I would not hesitate to recommend NS to all who are experiencing changes with weight gain. I found that with NS, I could really construct my own program in a way that works best for me and the way I live. It works; it's healthy; it's easy to adjust and if something is important enough to me, I will accept that there is an adjustment to "regular food" in order to gain a greater understanding about how a middle-aged man should consume his calories! Thank you!

I, too, was very excited when my box arrived and so excited to get started. I tracked everything, followed it to a T and lost 7# in the 1st week. Then I started getting very tired, no energy or motivation. I still stuck with the plan and exercising. I didn't feel like I had enough energy to even get through 10-15 minutes on the elliptical. I still stuck it out though and trying to eat the dinner I fixed my family and stuck with the plan except for dinners. I still ate healthy.
I cancelled my order and they asked why. I told them I thought the price was crazy for the amount of food you got. I understand you are paying for the resources and education, but I joined for the hassle free meal prep as I have 3 little kids and work. I also said how frustrating it was that there wasn't more of a satisfaction guarantee/refund, and they said I was past my 14 days. I explained to them though, if someone was serious about this, they'd push on longer than 14 days instead of throwing in the towel too soon.
So basically, I've just spent over $300 for 7# loss and not feeling well. What a scam! They said I could send back the meals I haven't eaten which I'd have to pay shipping for, and they would refund that food. I'd probably spend more in shipping to return than the refund. Also, the "deals" you get emailed to you once you are signed on are such a slap in the face. They don't care as long as they are getting their money.

I bought the $44.95 starter kit from Wal-Mart at the end of March. I had two purposes in mind when I decided to try it: First, about three years ago, I lost 40 lbs but have gained back about half of that and I felt that trying something new would help maintain my interest in losing weight; and second, my wife was going to be out of town for 5 days and this would enable me to easily prepare balanced meals while she was gone. I made the mistake of providing my contact info on their website, which appears to be a requirement in order for you to download a more detailed list of the additional food you must add to the contents of the kit.
At the end of the five days, I received a message on my answering machine from someone at Nutrisystem offering me a discounted price if I decided to subscribe to one of their monthly plans. I left a message for him indicating that I was not interested in continuing to use Nutrisystem as I found most of the meals to be marginal at best and asking him to remove me from any further attempts at solicitation. I am still receiving e-mails, phone calls and postcards even though I requested that they no longer contact me. I then posted a complaint on their "Ask the Moderator" online discussion boards. I received a reply from the board moderator apologizing for the continued contacts and promising that my info would be removed within 24-48 hours. This was on April 7.
I was out of town this past weekend and when I came home, I found another voicemail message and another postcard from Nutrisystem. I went back to the same discussion board that I had posted on previously and indicated that I was on the verge of contacting the FTC and posting negative reviews on every relevant website I could find. This time, I did not hear from the board moderator but I received several disparaging replies from others following this board. I suspect that some or all of them are either Nutrisystem employees or shills for that company. I have also sent an e-mail to an address on their website that receives messages related to their privacy policies and have yet to receive a response.

I called customer service as soon as I was able after my procedure, one business day later. I was told the delivery was already made. I was on the phone this time for about 40 minutes, most of which was spent on hold. Rep told me if they can retrieve the order, I should receive notification within the next 15 days. I asked for a code of some sort to ensure this was being attended to. No such thing.
I asked to speak with a supervisor. Response - "You will just be on hold another 30 minutes or more, and they will tell you the same thing." Great customer service when you are signing up. They don't give you much info, even after you order. One size does not fit all! The program works great for a lot of people, I would say over 60%. You do have to exercise which they say you don't! You do have to plan out your meals and go shopping and find and plan all the "extras" that go with their food. It's very misleading. When you call the dietitian for help, all you get are canned answers, "Oh, you will lose it, just keep it up," or "Try this instead," which doesn't work or makes you gain weight. You keep calling back, and it's the same thing - so frustrating! It's great for the masses though, if you have enough money although it is not the healthiest ever with too much sugar and flour and corn.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this feedback. We understand that weight loss is a difficult journey and unique for each individual. On the Nutrisystem program, results vary per individual and there are many factors that can influence weight loss.

The Nutrisystem program meets, or in many cases exceeds, most of the recommendations set forth by the government in the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Nutrisystem® program provides approximately 65-70% of your daily calorie needs. On Nutrisystem it is necessary to supplement the entrees with fresh grocery items for a healthy, balanced diet. Your meal plan has been designed to give you all the essential nutrients needed for optimal nutrition as well as for sensible weight loss. If you feel it may be a struggle for you to get all of these grocery additions in, contact one of our counselors who can provide you with strategies that work with your lifestyle and food preferences.
Also, regular physical activity is an important component to lifelong weight management, and overall health and wellness. At Nutrisystem we encourage our members to achieve national health recommendations of 150 minutes of moderately intense physical activity each week. To help you do this, we have created the My Daily 3™ program, which focuses on achieving 30 minutes of physical activity per day. We understand that there is no one-size fits all approach to activity, and this is why we recommend you contact your physician before incorporating physical activity as a part of the Nutrisystem program.

I was also very concerned about the portions being so small, as before this diet I was eating a whole lot more but I feel full and satisfied when I'm done eating the meals they provide, as well as the suggested add-ins. Granted I'm only a week into the diet; I look forward to my meals. I'm learning to plan what I eat as opposed to just "wing it" like I normally do and I've already lost 4 lbs.
Thank you so much for allowing us to assist you! We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience and look forward to helping you continue to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I'm curious as to why a 5 star rating from 9 months ago is listed at the top. Also, is there any screening to prevent Nutrisystem employees from submitting the good ratings? I noticed most reviewers are not very happy. Be aware that if you sign up, the price may drop afterwards. You can sign up in good faith, and then get an email two weeks later that the program is now offered at $60 less, $30 each for 2 months. The $60 may not mean a lot to many folks, including the customer service representative at Nutrisystem, but it is a lot to me. I don't like companies that make me feel I got cheated. Also, I don't expect to have to read fine print in order to not get screwed. Thank goodness not every company is not like this one.

Nutrisystem currently has a referral program called Buddy Bucks. For every new customer that is referred to Nutrisystem via the Buddy Bucks reward program, once they place their first 28-day order, the referring customer will receive a $30.00 Buddy Bucks Reward Certificate. The Certificate can be used toward any Nutrisystem product. We are sorry that your Buddy Bucks coupon was not applied correctly. I have let the company know through FB and they gave me an email to complain to - no response to my email. I'm sick of trying to work a system that is pricey and doesn't do anything for me. I honestly have lost almost 2 pounds for three days of eating the food, but still. I want answers.

I used the Walmart $44.95 Nutrisystem plan and it was so salty. I thought the food was okay and would have stuck with it, but I don't really eat that much salt. It caused such a fluctuation in weight because of the salt that I couldn't get a handle on it. There should be something better. It is not worth the money.

I had to jump in here, and I am glad I didn't see this site before trying the diet or perhaps I wouldn't have. First off, people are saying that it is full of preservatives. Well yes, that is true for the stock food (unrefrigerated entrees). If there were no preservatives, it would rot before it got there; much as well last you for 28 days. Did you think that you could sign up for a program where they send you convenient food that lasts a month that is sugar free, gluten free, pure vegetarian, preservative free, and prepared at your feet? If companies could do that, all companies would have awesome shelf food with no preservatives, and we would be happier for it. Seriously, if you want 100% preservative free, do the wheat grass diet; you take vitamins in the morning and drink a small dixie cup of wheatgrass three times a day. I guarantee you will lose 4 lbs a week, and it is 100% natural and preservative free.
Let’s go back to the review on the food. The frozen food is very good. They have frozen food options. It is at least the same quality of any other frozen food you might get anywhere, but in a 250 or less calorie size. Stock food that sits on the shelf, for those who say it doesn't look like the picture, did you really think the box of spaghetti with meatballs that was sitting in your cupboard for the last 15 days unrefrigerated would look like, when reheated in that container, what you get when you frequent your local pasta palace? The food is ok in taste, not bad and not awesome, but I wouldn't expect awesome taste from something that has a lengthy shelf life. It is good enough. You do have to sacrifice when you are on a diet folks otherwise, none of us would have some extra weight.
For those complaining about the food making them gassy, unfortunately, I had chili as my first meal and it did make me gassy. But seriously, who can expect to eat chili from a can without getting some gas. None of the other non-bean food makes you gassy. The diet is a 1200 a day diet. It has some carbohydrates, but not enough to push your blood sugar level up to where you have excess sugar in your blood; thus, it doesn't get stored. That is if you follow the diet and don't eat all 3 meals and two snacks at the same time. It isn't making you lose weight like a low carb diet. It keeps your blood sugar level and calories where it should be to knock off 2 pounds or so a week, with the convenience of nothing to prepare, and nothing to think about.
So in short, if you have realistic expectations, you can eat this convention food for a few months. If you don't cheat and get out and walk a little, you could be 16 lbs or so lighter in 2 months without suffering too much and with some pretty friggin’ convenient food that, at worst, tastes ok, and at best, makes you wonder if it really is something on the diet (like the ice cream sandwiches).
We appreciate that you took the time to share your Nutrisystem experience and look forward to helping you continue to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

When I received my first shipment, I was very excited. That was until I opened the box, then I began to get sick. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into, but I just could not believe the garbage I was looking at that was called food. The stuff arrived in a three-tier box. The fist tier was full of Breakfast foods, or what was supposed to be food, muffins, donuts, and basically candy bars. The sugar and preservative contents were off the charts and the calories 175-200 per item, which was not a very healthily selection for any diet. Lunches were not much better - an assortment of meals in foil pouches and tin cans, noodles (just add water), peanut butter and jelly sandwiches disguised as candy bars. Again, the preservatives and sugar content were enough to raise the dead. Finally, dinner meals - dehydrated hamburgers with no buns, meals in trays, and not one frozen item.
This was 28 days of overpriced, high calorie, sugar-laden, preservative dog food, and frankly not fit for a dog. And surely nothing like what the website shows in its pictures. I immediately packed the items back into the box, and on Monday morning called and told Nutri-system to pick the stuff up. Much to my surprise, no arguments were made, and they even cancelled my next shipment without me having to ask. So on Tuesday FedEx picked up this box of 9 pounds of heart stopping mummy-making garbage. I'm back to Healthy Choice entrees and still losing weight. I will likely have to pay for the shipping charges, but at least I should get most of my money back. I think I'll stick to Healthy Choice meals and my daily salads.

Somewhere in their long terms and conditions list, it indicates an additional charge for cancelling early, but it does not say specifically how much you will be charged. It was also not clear that an order required auto-delivery. One of my food packages had opened during shipment, I assume, and there was onion/cheese powder all over everything. I later found a package with an attached "dust bunny" - complete with a dead bug. The food is edible but does produce gas often and diarrhea sometimes. The diet works and you will still feel hungry, but the company business method is unsatisfactory and the product is not worth the money. I cancelled my credit card to avoid issues with them.

I wanted to lose about 30 lbs. With my busy schedule, I wanted to use an organized program. The program is organized, but the food is a big disappointment; very high in carbohydrates and mostly junk. The entrées are very bland, all of this while they restrict you to 1500 calories a day for men and 1200 calories a day for women. After I phoned Nutrisystem (you cannot cancel online as they don't want you to) and cancelled, they decided to charge me an additional $107.00 saying it was for shipping. I would not recommend this diet. You can get the same results and eat much healthier and better food by just exercising 30 minutes a day and restricting your calorie intake.

I joined Nutrisystem because, being a very busy person, I wanted a convenient weight loss plan. I signed up for the auto ship after reading their money-back guarantee. After seeing my shipment of food, my mother who is diabetic decided to sign up for their diabetic program. First, let me say that I didn't expect the food to be great but I did expect it to be edible! Most of it was awful! The worst part is that it gave me terrible gas and upset my stomach! My mother's blood sugar, after being on the diabetic program, shot way up! Their food contains way too many carbohydrates for anyone who is diabetic.
Second, let me say that the way their money-back guarantee is worded is misleading! It says to give them 14 days and if you're not satisfied, send back the remaining food for a full refund. This would imply that they want you to try it for a full 14 days before calling (that would stand up in court, by the way). Actually, you can't give them 14 days because you have to call within the 14 days. When I mentioned that to the customer service rep, they offered their apologies but said you have to call within 14 days. She would not budge despite the verbiage of the agreement.
Not only would I not get a refund, I would be charged $100 for cancelling before the next order even though the food made me sick! Worse yet, my poor mother with the raised blood sugar is also being charged $100 to cancel. Oh, my bonus is that in that time, I lost a whole pound! Whoopee. I will never again use Nutrisystem and advise others to steer clear! If you want a convenient way to lose weight, I suggest joining Weight Watchers and buying lean cuisine and Healthy Choice (tastes much better and will be much cheaper). That's what I intend to do!

So, the total same plan I used last year would cost me $309 this year. Maybe I have the math wrong, but $50 more for the same plan as last year is not getting last year’s prices! When I called customer service to inquire about the refund, I was told the refund required manager approval, which could take another week and may not be approved. I'm really pissed about this. And I didn't really expect the food to be delicious as claimed by all the stars getting paid millions to lie. But the food was worse than awful, particularly the ready to eat (aka irradiated) meals. The only flavoring they seem to use is red pepper; most of the dishes are pasta or noodle based - that sure doesn't help me control my Italian cravings - and the texture of the food is nauseating. I suffered through it for a full 30 days and stuck to the program. Read the fine print. You will be charged for canceling the program before your two-month agreement has ended. Worse, this is the poorest quality food I've ever eaten in my life. And in college, I ate most of my meals from vending machines, cheap frozen pizza boxes and instant noodle soup packages. Every meal tasted like canned food marketed to children in the 1960s. Even the desserts were awful. Your favorite television documentary would probably call this a compilation of ingredients to avoid. Before you buy into this glitzy ad campaign, do yourself a favor and read every one of the consumer complaints on this site. Read the list of ingredients for each package of food you think you want to try (click on the food item, and you can get nutrition info for each one). And instead of looking over the pictures of prepared and professionally photographed food on the site, picture your food in a paper soup cup or in air-locked plastic wrap. Save yourself the time, the hassle and the money that pays for mass television and print advertising. This is inferior food accompanied by a seriously misleading money-back guarantee.

I cannot afford to continue this diet. I have tried numerous times to cancel my order but the company keeps on billing my account. I did what a previous complainant did and cancelled my credit card. It is a shame that I had to revert to this drastic measure. One would think that a company like this would honor their product. I recently purchased the Nutrisystem $319 program. After being on it for 2 weeks, I decided to cancel. When I called Nutrisystem to do this, I had to wait approximately 15 minutes for someone to come to the line. It took me at least 5 minutes to cancel, and the lady wouldn't be quiet long enough for me to talk. Anyway, in the end, I managed to cancel my next order only to find out that I would be charged an extra $99 for my first order shipping charges. When I told the lady that I wasn't told this would happen, she said it was on the contract. What contract? You mean to tell me that it cost Nutrisystem $99 to ship me an order?
I cancelled my credit card, but needless to say, I wasn't quick enough. I should have cancelled the card before I cancelled my order. I suppose Nutrisystem is alright for some people, but not for me. The new Chef's Choice in Nutrisystem is the worst yet. Very rarely do you even get what you asked for with frequent substitutions. In addition, trying to cancel was unbelievable. Someone named Thanaria, who kept calling me ma'am although I am a man, insisted I must discuss my weight loss with her before they could cancel the program. It took 20 minutes of me repeatedly telling her I did not want to discuss this and her repeatedly putting me on hold before she finally cancelled it. She then, in an extremely sarcastic voice, remarked good luck with your 68 pound weight loss before hanging up. My biggest complaint is that cancelling is a pain. You have to call customer service which is really the sales department and explain exactly why you want to cancel. (Yes, the message being played over and over while on hold is enough to make Mother Theresa lose it.) I told them that I was allergic to practically everything and that still wasn't good enough! After going back and forth for about 10 minutes and me saying "I want to cancel the order" about 30 times, the sales guy got very irate and cancelled it. I did get an email confirming that the auto-shipment was cancelled. What really made me mad though was he kept asking me how much weight I lost, what I weighed now, etc. I thought that was extremely rude. I was sitting at my desk at work, trying to handle this discreetly. Not cool.
Also, the food can be really, really awful. I wasn't expecting it to taste good and some of the items were palatable. It is all chemicals and I had a really bad reaction to several preservatives after eating so much more of them on the program than I ever had previously. I had migraines from the salt. I tried for a week but I was very sick from the preservatives! After 2 days, I was tired, miserable and migrainy. Do not get anything with tomato sauce as it is horrid. I was eating better quality food (just too much of it) before I ordered Nutrisystem back in August. I considered giving my food to a food pantry but I just couldn't because no one should eat that poison. And I was afraid it would kill my pets. I knew when signing up that there was a cancellation fee if I cancelled before receiving 2 shipments so it wasn't a surprise. It's rather scummy business practice though. I didn't show signs of getting sick until about 2.5 weeks after receiving my shipment so I couldn't return it within the 14-day window. (I started 2 weeks after receiving my shipment due to out of town guests. I'm not blaming NS for that. Grrr.)
Also, since it was summer, some the chocolate bars melted as the mega box of chemically treated food was left on the porch all day while I was at work. The box was also opened. (Le sigh.) Anyway, I went online, downgraded the second shipment and ordered only the foods that I was able to tolerate. I figured that if I have to give them $90 more, I should at least get something for it. You can also go online and delay your order up to 3 months. Two positives: the food arrives quickly and it could work if I wasn't allergic to practically everything. Their website is okay but there are free sites like SparkPeople that are better. And I shouldn't have to fight a rude sales guy to cancel.

I just started the diet a month ago, and I have to admit, there is room for improvement. I consider myself a foodie. My large Italian has approximately eight chefs who cook amazingly delicious restaurant-quality foods. So, yes, I am disappointed in Nutrisystem's food quality, but I didn't expect gourmet foods, either. On the plus side, it's quick and easy when you use the microwave to cook the foods. The on-the-go meals, such as the breakfast and lunch bars, are scrumptious. The waffles and French toast are delicious. The frozen desserts are yummy; the chocolate covered pretzels are my favorite; and they teach you how to portion your food and incorporate fruits/vegetables with your meals.
On the down side, too many of the entrees, either lunch or dinner are bland. The split pea soup smelled horribly; the mac and cheese tasted like cardboard; the tomato sauce is too sweet. The food you receive looks nothing like what they picture on their website. It makes you very gassy and the portions are on the small side. There were approximately ten items from my first order I refused to eat like wheat flakes cereal, oatmeal, and a Cheerios-type cereal because I don't eat them anyway, and they gladly sent me replacements of the foods I did enjoy.
I have lost weight using the system and not by starving. There are plenty of foods you can eat (fruits, vegetables, lite cheeses, salads, whole grain bread, nuts), even if you don't eat their food. If Nutrisystem finds the right chefs and someone like, Alton Brown from Good Eats on the Food Network, they could be on their way to success they never could imagine.

I'm actually not angry at Nutrisystem. I tried them! I knew that if I cancelled after the first month, I would be charged an ungodly amount of money! I figured I would give it a go for 2 months. After all, it can't be that bad. I can do anything for 2 months. The food came very quickly, in a ginormous box. I was excited to not have to put thought into what I would be eating for the next 2 months. I'd just grab something out of my "diet box" and run! I gave it an honest try for one week. After one week, I knew I couldn't do it anymore. I did lose 7 pounds. If you follow the diet exactly, you will lose weight - because your poor body is starving to death because the food is horrible! It's absolutely disgusting.
There were 2 or 3 snacks that were edible. A few of the breakfast items were okay. I didn't find one lunch or dinner that I could stomach again. The food all tastes the same, strangely enough, and anything with a tomato sauce is 90% sauce and 10% other. I was very disappointed with the food and very bummed that this didn't work better for me. Unfortunately, you need to make sure you read all the fine print before you order something like this. Many reviews have said that they had no idea they would be charged to cancel early. I knew this would be the case, but figured I'd make it 2 months before I thought about cancelling.
Nope. Unfortunately, Nutrisystem doesn't offer a refund or a credit for nasty food. I'm sure they make the majority of their money in cancellation fees. At any rate, you are better off eating healthy, exercising and being happy, and not eating Nutrisystem food. Good luck everyone!

The so-called shakes are nothing but a container of chocolate or vanilla powder that you add water and ice to, and shake up. The food was nasty. The portions were so small. Beware of Nutrisystem’s cancelation fees! I was so excited about losing weight and starting a new program that I didn't read the fine print. In essence, I was charged nearly $100 in back discounts and delivery charges to cancel my membership. That, in my humble opinion, is shady.

The business survives not on its product, but on their overwhelming advertising and getting your approval for automatic charges to your credit card. Their ads are false - you do have to buy regular food and weigh and count and measure. After the first week, the food got boring and (believe me) you starve.

My husband ordered this Nutrisystem food to help him lose weight. I told him he is eating poison. Believe it or not, check the ingredients for yourself. Big money for poison food! The ingredients are so bad: high fructose corn syrup, cotton seeds oil, GMO, MSG, you name it. We are so disappointed with this highly processed food we bought. And they taste disgusting!

Last month, I ordered Nutrisystem D for my father. When the food arrived, we quickly realized the food was horrible. My dad did not stick to the diet more than 3 weeks as the food was horrible he said. When he stopped the diet, we decided to eat the stuff that was left over. I learned quickly the food gave you a ton of gas. When I say a ton, I mean overload. After reading posts of other former customers, I am not surprised at that and consider myself lucky. Finally when I thought it was done and over with, yesterday I got an email saying the next shipment is on its way. I never signed up for more than one month. They automatically charged his card and shipped it.
I called customer service (the only way apparently to cancel) and they would not talk to me because I am not my father, which I guess that means I could not have been his wife either. I read over and over that when we cancel, we will be charged $100 also. I will make sure to block both charges after sending them their poison they call food back to them. If they cannot do business correctly and I sent their product back, I do not owe them anything.

After many years of seeing ads on television and QVC, I decided that this is something that could work for me. I don't like to cook and most diets require a great deal of cooking. The prepackaged food was an attractive option for me. Also, since QVC had it on air and I have always had a good experience with QVC, I decided to do this. I prepared for this before my large box of food came. I cleared out my pantry of all the "bad" food; really committed to working the program. The box came and I sorted out all the meals, breakfast, snacks, lunch, snack, dinner, and desert.
I decided that a weigh-in each day was not a good thing for me. We all know or should know that it sometimes takes a few days for the weight loss to show up. I read the book that came with it several times to make sure I understood what to do and when to do it. I wanted to give myself every opportunity to succeed. After 3 weeks of food that tasted really bad and walking each day at least a mile with my dogs, I did not have a weight loss, not a pound. My energy was so low I really had to force myself to get up, get dressed, and get to the dog off-leash part.
QVC has a wonderful return policy. On air they stated that if this did not work, they would forgive the cost of the program, and you did not have to return the unused portion of the product. This was correct. Just today, I got a call from a man with Nutrisystem asking me how I liked the program. I told him the food was terrible, tasteless, my energy level was very low, and I would not be reordering. The kicker was that he became hostile; he said the food was delicious and I must have not followed the program. I told him how I had prepared both my food pantry by getting rid of all the bad food, how I walked each day at least a mile with my dogs and never lost a pound. He then said, "So you like the program and it is working for you?" I heard a beep over the phone causing me to realize that my conversation was being recorded. I kept telling him, "No, I do not like the program."
Be careful, if you want to try this program, go to QVC to order it. They have a great return policy. No hassle. I have read many reviews on this program and am very happy I got mine from QVC and not from Nutrisystem. It may work for some but not for others. The food is cheap and tasteless in my opinion, and I am not a gourmet. Since then I have mapped out my own diet plan: portion control, no bread, sugar (extra added), lean meat, fish, chicken, veggies, and walking. I have lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks, my bra is no longer strangling me, my pants are beginning to get bigger, and I feel great. I have more energy, want to get up each day and get my dogs out to the off-leash for a mile walk. It’s great for me and great for them.

I have no problem with the products or the plan. My problem is that their business model is apparently built on duping or cajoling you into continuing to receive shipments (and pay for them) after you no longer want them. For one thing, they make it easy to sign up online, but you can't cancel online. You have to call and listen to a long sales pitch about why you shouldn't cancel and so on.
Also, they send multiple e-mails every month, many of them promotional or otherwise unimportant, but there's that one that says, "And by the way, we are shipping you another batch of product ($250 worth), unless you call and tell us you don't want it. If we don't hear from you, we'll automatically ship and charge your bank account.” I think this is a scam. It would be bad enough if it were the only email they send me, but it isn't. It is slipped in among a bunch of others. In my opinion, this is a dishonest, unethical way to do business.

I purchased a 1-month trial basis and found that not only was the food way over-processed, it was also difficult to digest. I phoned the company to cancel my account and end all emails from them. Nutrisystem then charged me an additional $87.49 that was the discount they had already offered to begin with. So even though their customer was not satisfied with the product and their customer purchased on good faith, Nutrisystem did not honor their promise and ripped off their customer. First if you stick to the plan, you will lose weight but after a couple of months, it gets a little tedious and what food is palatable, gets boring. My husband and I both were on Nutrisystem and we paid the "up charge" to be able to pick our own frozen food rather than have Nutrisystem pick for us. That bugged me. Then, the items that we liked tended to become "low inventory" where you couldn't order any and had to pick something else. My husband finally got ticked and said he had enough. If he can't order the stuff he did like, he wasn't going to continue paying that kind of money for it and told me to cancel. I feel if you can sign up online to begin the program, you should be able to go online to cancel the program but alas, that is not the case and the reason it isn't the case is because they don't want you to cancel so they have these individuals in place to talk you out of cancelling.
I was on the phone 15 minutes with a woman from Nutrisystem asking me questions, trying to talk me into cheaper plans and postponing my shipments so I didn't "lose my discounts" etc. I must have told her 15 different times to "Please just cancel my account." The longer I was on the phone, the more I lost my patience. No one should have to go through that rigamarole to cancel their account with Nutrisystem. I started Nutrisystem because of the pre-prepared meals in an effort to cut back on time taken to cook. While some of the meals were fast, I was spending as much time measuring substitutes as I was previously cooking. This wasn't a problem. I dropped 11 pounds my first week and couldn't stand longer than 5 minutes without getting pass-out dizzy. I was 6'3" and 225 lbs. at the start of the diet and I lifted 3 times a week and ran on the days in between. After 3 days of eating their food, I couldn't lift and by the end of the week, I was so tired I was sleeping 12-plus hours a day. Their food is not substantial as during this time I was eating twice the amount of "power fuels" and "smart carbs" that they recommended. So my first complaint is that the food is not safe. This is not a diet that anyone should ever put themselves through regardless of the reason.
The second complaint is against the customer support. I spent 3 days trying to sort out the cancellation of my order (which I called in after the first week to try and stop the auto delivery and it still came). There is no account service option online to do anything that would allow you to cancel your subscription and after I called, I sat on hold with the same marketing loop playing every 45 seconds. After about 15 minutes of holding through this torturous loop, an automatic messaging service kicked in telling me that while I can get 24 hour support for everything else, service cancellation is only in certain hours and that I need to call back another time. This system is designed to torment anyone who wants to cancel their product service and is cruel and unusual.

I saw all the negative comments on here and thought I'd share my quick thoughts. First of all, the program works. There is no question. I had very bad eating habits and have been nearly 40lbs overweight for the past 10 years. I started Nutrisytem around mid-February and I am now 28lbs lighter (it's now July, but I've been at my current weight since May or so). I'll share a few points that I think are important for folks to know:
The first month is usually at a promotional rate. If you cancel immediately after the promotional month, I heard that Nutrisytem charges a cancellation fee. I cancelled after 3 months and didn't have a fee. Frankly, I think it's totally fair for them to charge the fee if they're giving you a promotional rate for the first month. These guys are in business after all and not doing this for our charity. The food is okay, some are better than others, some are just plain horrible. I did the plan for a few months and was able to modify my orders after the first month to stuff that I liked.
Yes, the food is processed, that should be obvious. It's no different than many packaged foods at the supermarket. However, you will be eating a lot of good protein, starches and veggies to supplement the Nutrisystem plan. Thanks to this plan, I now eat better and healthier than I have my entire life. I didn't get sick with the food, but did feel bloated and gassy at times. Honestly, a minor side effect given that I'm within 5lbs of my weight goal. The desserts and snacks are pretty awesome. Okay, they're pre-packaged, preserved, etc., but they're good and help control intake throughout the day. If I wanted good for me, healthy, natural ingredients, etc., I'd make it myself. I did Nutrisystem because it was easy. Expect to spend a lot more money at the supermarket. You'll be buying a lot of fresh fruits/veggies and other good foods to supplement the program. Unfortunately, eating healthy costs a lot more than eating crap.
Finally, you don't need Nutrisystem. I tried it because I didn't know any better and didn't know how to eat well. I don't regret trying Nutrisystem at all because it worked for me and really taught me a lot about eating the right foods and the right portions. However, if you want to lose weight or be healthy, it's all about eating the right foods. There are several articles out there that detail how to replace or imitate the Nutrsystem plan. I'm using one of these plans now to maintain my weight. If you need a kick in the butt or something to make you feel committed, however, then give Nutrisystem a whirl for a few months. I can guarantee that if you stick with it, you will lose weight. What I can't guarantee is that you will like the food! Good luck.

I tried Nutrisystem knowingly that it serves processed foods and processed foods are no good for you. The ease of not having to prepare the food was what motivated me since I am 51 and raising an 8 year old and a 15 year old. As time went on into the 28-day plan, I read the blogs. I began to look up some of the ingredients. Bad news. From the quantity of sodium to the use of aspartame products, to usage of soy. Not to mention, most of the foods contain white processed starch, which has always been a health no-no in dieting. False advertising as well when they would describe protein in the foods. More like meat bits unless it was a soy protein, which your were given plenty of that.
I applaud that you have lost weight, but I believe you did on your own by simply decreasing the quantity of food intake and your consumption of junk food as well as watching what you ate. Not to mention anyone eating 1,200 calories a day and drinking plenty of water has to lose weight. Each person's body works differently. Cancelling the subscription was for the $99.99. I was not allowed to change my menu either, they have what seems to be mandatory purchases. Just remember, it is your money. Read, research and find something good from it. My good was that I was reminded to cook healthy because nobody's going to do it for you.

Then when I tried it for the 28 days and it wasn't working for me that I am charged another $89 for stopping the plan? Well, since I wasn't informed of this, I am going to pass the word along to all my Facebook friends and email all my friends telling them to beware. It worked for me! I read the fine print and had no problem cancelling after 2 shipments. In 2 months, I lost a total of 15 lbs. I did load up on as much fresh healthy foods, fruits, veggies and lean protein that you're supposed to be eating along with your NS meals. I opted with the program that allows you to choose your entire menu. The food is not bad, of course some items taste better than the others. For me, NS was just a way for me to kick start my weight loss and healthier lifestyle. By no means would I stay on this for more than 3 months because (no surprise) the food is processed, full of sodium and artificial ingredients. After cancelling, I started cooking healthy organic meals and felt amazing resulting in another 15 lbs. loss in 2 months.
Nothing compares to healthy home-cooked meals but for convenience and those who, like me, want a jumpstart, NS is a good choice. My advice: Do your research before starting any program, consult with your doctor and follow directions.

The website made it very clear about the penalties if I cancelled my order before my second order. I did not need to cancel because the program worked. The food is good, yes it's processed, but that's normally what I eat anyway. I'm never hungry and in 12 weeks, I've lost 35 pounds. Nutrisystem allows me to delay each of my orders for 60 days with no penalties, which is great for me, so I can add in non-Nutrisystem meals along the way and stretch out my deliveries to cut costs. I like the plan. I need to lose 60 lbs. But, I'm diabetic so it's challenging. I think Nutrisystem is a plan and product that will work for those who follow it religiously and don't have any problems that require contacting customer service, which I refer to as their "Counter Customer Unit." I wasn't getting enough carbs on the diet and my blood sugar readings were consistently below 90. I called to see if I could modify the diet or if I should cancel it. It was the 15th day after I had ordered based on a promotion offering a full refund within 14 days. When I called, I selected the customer service option to discuss my options. The agent on the phone assumed I wanted a refund and informed me that the 14-day period had lapsed. I was okay with that. And, I clearly understood by her demeanor that there was no grace available. What I wasn't okay with was her next statement that I would be charged an additional $97 for cancelling. No literature and no agent I talked to ever mentioned that part of the deal.
After receiving a rigid response to my objection and refusal to allow me to speak to a supervisor, I hung up and started reading reviews and checking the Nutrisystem (NTRI) stock price. The reality of my predicament came into focus at that point. Nutrisystem is a publicly traded company and their stock price has plummeted 60% in the last year, from $25 to $10. Most reviews are written by Nutrisystem Affiliates and only give lip service to a few cons. They don't address the real issue, which is the lack of a customer-oriented set of values and an obvious single focus on maximizing profits, which is clearly backfiring. The fickle finger of failure appears to have found upper management as the cause of the company's poor performance, both in the markets and with customers.
Many of the legitimate reviews are pretty consistent in their description of the writers' experiences with the "Counter Customer Unit". An interesting set of reviews by past employees and affiliates can be found at Glassdoor.com. I have lost weight while on Nutrisystem over the last two weeks +, and I will find a way to lose the rest of it. But, I avoid doing business with companies that see me as a dollar sign and not part of their mission. I want to partner with companies I do business with, not be a mark to be fleeced. I will also start shorting the stock.

I joined Nutrisystem on May 6, 2012 during my membership call. I explained to the lady that I wanted to pay with my debit card. She told me Nutrisystem doesn't take debit cards and that there was another option in which I can pay and that option was to apply for a loan at Bill Me Later. As she signed me up, she did not tell me that Bill Me Later charged a 19.99 percent rate and didn't take a debit card as payment either. Right before signing up, I had my bank account hacked into; and on Bill Me Later, they wanted me to give them my routing number and checking account number. I said no way.
So I called Bill Me Later and spoke to a telephone salesperson and explained the whole situation, and the salesperson told me to call Nutrisystem and have them recall the payment and then pay Nutrisystem. So now back to Nutrisystem, this time, a totally new pleasant lady canceled my Nutrisystem account, believing that what I was told by Bill Me Later could be a solution to the problem and that the payment would be recalled. I was advised to go to Costco to purchase the gift cards and that once I have the gift cards, to call Nutrisystem back and pay for my order. Off to Costco, I went 30 miles away. It closed at 6 PM. I arrived at 6 PM, and I wiggled by the people waiting in line and to the front desk to ask about Nutrisystem gift cards. They told me they didn't have any but at this other Costco's, they have 18.
The next day, I was off to Costco (45 miles away) to get my Nutrisystem gift cards. Now, I was happy that I could get this taken care of without giving out my checking account number or router number. The next day, I was very happy and I called Nutrisystem as advised. I was told that the payment had to be made to Bill Me Later. I got very upset and demanded to speak to a supervisor. Twenty minutes later, a supervisor came on the phone and told me that there wasn't much he could do for me at 11 PM at night. He said he has never heard of anything like this happening before and that once Bill Me Later is charged, the order must be paid through Bill Me Later. What he said he would do was call Bill Me Later and talk to all the managers and he would call me back at 9 PM the following day, which is today, May 15.
May 15 came. I came home from work, and the message light is beeping. I listened to the message, and the supervisor from Nutrisystem left a message at 2 PM. He said things might get busy and that he wanted to call me while he could, understandably. Then he told me that I would have to take the Nutrisystem cards back to Costco because they couldn't take the Bill Me Later payment back. (The money I spent on the Nutrisystem cards was all the money I had. So if I didn't take the cards back, then I'd have no money to pay this outrageous bill.) He also explained that the lady who told me to do that told me this for the next time I order from Nutrisystem and wasn't intended as a way to pay now. He said that I was also misinformed and that Bill Me Later does take a check card. (But I told him I only have a debit card, so I was thinking maybe they were one and the same.)
Now I called Bill Me Later again, and they told me they don't take a debit card and that I'd have to give out my routing number and account number in order to make a payment. By this time, my voice got 5 octaves higher and I had had enough! I told her that that was not going to happen and that I needed to pay this bill another way and it wasn't going to be by the way they wanted it. So then, she said, "Then here is our address to send us a check." No one should ever have to go through this abuse! I felt like a rubber ball being bounced all over the place, and the time in waiting for each of these companies to answer the phone was at least 30 minutes each time. This is maddening!

My pancreatic enzymes were 500 times the normal limit; my liver enzymes were also elevated. My gall bladder was filled with sludge. It took me several months to decide on a diet, and I wanted something that was sustainable - not a fad. They were extremely helpful with answering all my questions. I then spoke with a live person to finish my order. Everything arrived on time. The food is fabulous. I am an extremely busy business person working most 7 days a week and have become so burnt out on having to buy and prepare food for the week, usually eating the same things over and over again. I simply don't have the time nor want to take the time. With Nutrisystem, I am able to grab my food items and literally run.
There are a few items that you need to add water and microwave, but it only takes a matter of a couple minutes. You do add "snack meals" on your own, which is protein and complex carb choices which is good. They also want you to add vegetables to your meals. This helps people to incorporate real food and learn how to portion out their meals once they go into the world of eating all their own food choices again. I highly recommend the program for people who are having a hard time with finding the right path on eating right. It is a good start to learning how to do things the right way. Lastly, once you have joined, you have everything at your finger tips to journaling, tracking your weight, measurements, workouts, blogging with other members, connecting with others and a live counselor whenever needed.

I decided to give Nutrisystem a try with the 40% discount. But when I received the food, it did not look or taste good. This was not disclosed when I signed up or else I wouldn't have. What a ripoff!

Reading the guarantee of cancellation for any reasons, my wife and I saw that I have to call their phone number described online on the Nutrisystem program. One day after the delivery of the first shipment, we realized that it was a health hazard for us and we cancelled the program on 3/20/2012 by email. I received back an email that while we subscribed online, they are not willing to accept cancellations online and I would have to call their phone number.
I wrote immediately back that I am hard of hearing and I am unable to discuss financial matters on the phone and I have requested Nutrisystem to provide a contact point/person for written communications. I am a 75% disabled Vietnam veteran; I lost most of my hearing in the war. I sent several emails, but they never answered back about the subject. I followed up by sending a certified letter restating that we are cancelling the program. Nutrisystem received my certified letter on April 5, 2012. Again, I received no answer from them. I have done what I can to communicate with Nutrisystem. They just ignored my letters and they continue to try to send the meals like nothing happened. I am 75 years old and I have never seen a company behaving like that.

Frankly, I love the program. You follow the program - you will lose weight. My complaint here is that I bit into a meatball "sandwich" only to find a substantially sized rock! Not hardened chicken or something - literally a rock. I suppose these things happen but still is quite a shock on your teeth. I called Nutrisystem and they offered to replace with some additional meals but did not seem too concerned. "I" had to ask them if they wanted me to send it in for analysis. What toxins if any might I have been exposed to? They said I can throw it (!) or or send it in - whatever I like.

However, after my second delivery, I attempted to end the auto delivery and am still having difficulty. You can not do it online. At least, it's so difficult that I have not found the manner or link to do it on their webpage. I have been on hold with customer service for over 10 minutes waiting for a customer service representative listening to commercials. Can this get any more frustrating? I don't really know what to think of Nutrisystem. I read the fine print and knew that I would be charged to cancel my order. I think that paying $104 is ridiculous, but I'd rather pay that than receive another order of food. From the beginning, the food upset my stomach. I read that this was normal and that people called it the "nutri-toots" AKA: It is your body getting used to these new high fiber foods. According to my doctor, this is incorrect. This was my body's way of letting me know that I was allergic to something in the extremely long list of artificial ingredients and chemicals that laden the Nutrisystem food. What the hell does "artificially lightened" mean on the chicken salad? Seriously?
Only after a trip to the ER, being taken off solid foods completely and examination of some of the NS food labels did the doctors realize this. In the midst of the health issues I was experiencing, one NS representative offered to help me change all my NS food to soft food to compliment "my new diet". Evidently, being medically ordered off "hard food" due to an ingredient intolerance is now a customer's choice. To charge me to stop receiving food that landed me in the emergency room is just crappy. But I would expect nothing less from this company.

I even went so far as to send my requests to all 4 email addresses I could find, social space, consumer complaint board, and the Better Business Bureau. These were questions with my order and yet they did not respond and they expect you to have an auto renewal. They claim to be an online program yet will not contact you back. I refuse to sit on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to pick up (yes my first call in I was on hold for a ridiculous amount of time) because they falsely advertise and improperly charge. And they do not respond to their errors or consumers questions.
Beware: you will be stuck with mounds of the wrong food, get incorrectly charged and they do not care. I know mistakes happen, yet they refuse to hire any customer service to address it. I signed up for Nutrisystem after hearing about some others’ success on the program. Within the first month, I lost only about 4 lbs. which I was totally fine with. After that, my girlfriend decided she would sign up as well so we could do it together. Well, we stayed on it for about 4 months without going off plan and we also worked out on a daily basis. We only lost a small amount of weight but that's not my problem.
After 4 months of this program, it just so happened to be time for our yearly physical. Now before Nutrisystem, I had been in the hospital for chest pains, which turned out to be just a panic attack. But they did a lot of blood work just in case and everything was perfectly normal. All my levels of vitamins and everything else was exactly where it should be.
So, like I said now after being on Nutrisystem, it was my yearly physical time, as well as my girlfriend. We got our blood work done and found out that we both have a vitamin D deficiency, but we both have high blood pressure and she is also extremely low in iron! My blood levels were completely normal before this program and so were hers. And now we are low in vitamins with high blood pressure. This program may help people lose weight but it also helps people become unhealthy. So, you give to get. It's not a healthy program and I would never suggest it to anyone.

I ordered Nutrisystem end of November 2011. I decided I wanted to either start after the holidays or cancel the order. After talking with a gentleman at Nutrisystem, they allow a one-time delay of auto delivery so I chose to take this opportunity. The gentleman said try the product and if you don't like it, cancel and you can send the rest of the food back. I tried Nutrisystem for 2 weeks and don't like the food. It contains too much sugar and it really is all processed food. I called on Jan. 20th to cancel my order and the lady I spoke with said they will charge me $50 for the difference in auto-delivery price and that I could send back the rest of the food.
I wanted to review their cancellation policy. After reviewing, I called Nutrisystem back on Jan 24, canceled my order and then was told I could not send back my food. I ordered Nutrisystem, but after my order, I saw that it was wrong, so I called in to change my order. The customer service representative said he canceled my order. Yet, the order went through, and my debit card was charged $259.99 and the order was shipped. Also, then after having to cancel the order a second time, another $87.49 charge went through my debit card. I again tried to clear this up with Nutrisystem. Their policy clearly states on their website "at Nutrisystem, we expect you to be fully satisfied, or we'll give you your money back, period". They have refused to refund my money (I sent back their shipment as "refused, return to sender"), and I now had to go into my bank and file a fraud charge on my debits. My letter to Nutrisystem, which they have ignored, says:
I cannot describe my disappointment, frustration and absolute dismay at your company. I am a hardworking, single mother. I do not have internet, at my home as I can't afford it, so I can only access internet at work. Your company's actions have placed me into a financial crisis, based upon your unethical and illegal removal of funds from my bank account, and failure to cancel my order, the first time that I requested it be canceled.
On 1/13/2012, at 12:55 PM, I placed my online order for the Women's Success Plan. My total, paid via my debit master card was $259.99. However, when I reviewed my account, I noticed that all the breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack choices I thought I had chosen (which I spend over 20 minutes making those choices), somehow was not ordered. The favorites package was ordered. At around 1:17 PM (11 minutes and 38 seconds after placing my order), I called ** and spoke to Joseph, a Nutrisystem representative. I explained my situation to him, and asked if there was a way to make the changes, so that I could get the food I wanted, and what I had spent all that time online choosing.
Joseph was extremely rude to me, and told me it was too late. I was very appalled by his demeanor, and absolute lack of professionalism. I said that I didn't want food that I didn't order. Joseph again said he couldn't help me. I was at work and had to answer office phones, so I told Joseph I wanted to cancel my order. Joseph confirmed with me that he canceled my order, and since my order hadn't shipped yet, the $259.99 had merely been placed on hold, so it would take a couple of days for the $259.99 to be released back to my account. I asked Joseph if he could send me an email, or letter, confirming this information, and he told me they don't do that. He can't send me anything. It is cancelled.
On 1/17/2012, Tuesday, when I got to work (Monday, 1/16/2012 was a Holiday and my office was closed), I saw that an email had been sent on 1/16/12, 8:15 AM, that my order had been shipped! I called again and spoke to another representative (I cant recall her name). I was extremely frustrated and upset, because I also saw that $259.99 had been deducted from my checking account for this order. This representative was very professional and kind. However, the damage had been done for me, and I was very upset. She cancelled my order and emailed me a cancellation confirmation. She told me when the FedEx and UPS orders come in, to refuse them, and they would be shipped back.
She told me it would be approximately 2 weeks to process the cancellation, and refund my $259.99 into my checking account, and was very apologetic that I had such poor customer service on 1/13/12, and that the other representative did not do what he was supposed to do by cancelling my order. Although having to wait 2 weeks for my refund of $259.99 was going to be financially difficult for me, as I now have to go grocery shopping for food (I wont have Nutrisystem food to eat), I tightened my belt to try and make ends meet.
On 1/18/12 at my lunch from work, I went shopping for groceries, and my debit card was declined for $92. When I got back to work, I pulled up my bank account information, and saw that Nutrisystem had an additional unauthorized debit being taken from my account, in the amount of $87.49! I have no idea what I am being charged for, and have never authorized any other charges (except the initial $259.99, which will be refunded to me once my order is returned)! I am beyond furious, and appalled at your company.
I now am going to have to leave work early, unpaid, to go to my bank, and see what I can do to stop this from being removed from my account. I cant believe the problems I am having with Nutrisystem. I am beyond disappointed. This has caused me so much distress and financial problems. $259.99 and $87.49 may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but to me it is the difference of putting food on my table each evening, and whether or not my electric bill is paid. I would like a supervisor's response to me, and have this matter handled immediately.

Nope, this isn't a complaint. I just wanted to let people know that this system does work! I've been on NS for over 4 months and have lost 74 pounds. I'm half way to goal.
This program has taught me to eat sensibly and to portion control. I eat 6-7 small meals daily and I'm never hungry. If you go onto the website, they post a list called "Recommended Grocery Foods". This is where the obvious is listed - dairy, veggies and fruits - even fats and extras. This should be a huge indication that you need to add these foods into the program. Duh!
Most of the meat-laden foods, I don't like. But that's my taste buds. I've chosen to flex my meals. That means that I cook my own food. I just use NS's guidelines of how much to eat and what to eat. The NS pre-packaged foods are for people who want/need the convenience, that's all. There is no magic potion in the foods to help you lose weight. I needed that crutch in the beginning of my program. Now, I understand things much clearer and no longer need that assistance, although, I do keep the grab and go stuff handy. You just never know when you need it.
Your first month on NS will be a trial and error time. You will find the foods you love and re-order those. Make sure you are able to customize your order. This will allow you to order the foods you love. But even if you find something you absolutely dislike, there are tips and tricks on how to add veggies, fat free sour cream, etc. into those foods to make them more palatable. Most of the people who are complaining about the food haven't picked up the phone and spoke with a counselor or even gone onto the website and ask questions. If they would have, they would have realized the many variables to this program.
If it wasn't for NS, I probably would be dead from a heart attack. I was well over 300 pounds when I started the program. I'm now off of all blood pressure medicines. Follow this program 100% and you will succeed. And no, I don't work for NS. I'm a very happy client and will be for a lifetime.

In reply to Dave of Chicago, IL. Dave, it's nice to know that Nutrisystem has their own people to counter post here, but you need to get your facts straight. Nutrisystem offers a trial, which if you feel that it's not working in their specified time, you have the option of returning the item to them and then they will not bill you for the item. Well, this is not what happens. What happens is NS either charges your credit card, debit's your debit card and then denies that they ever received the item back. There are 1000's of people that have posted and complained about this. NS uses a third party to handle their claims and they say they'll take care of it, but never do. Now in my humble opinion, this is theft and Nutrisystem is guilty of theft! So go back to your 9-5 and continue to post lies about how good they are and I'll continue to post the reality, that they are thieves and should be prosecuted for theft.

On May 05, 2011, we signed up for a ONE MONTH deal with Nutrisystem. We were told by a sales person that they were having a special for any new customers. The "special" was that we would get the one month for half off which came out to be approximately $165.00 with tax included. I had made it clear to the sales person that we were only wanting to try the product for one month and if we liked it, I would call back and purchase a second month with them. So the transaction was confirmed and the delivery came in.
After a month, we received a second box with the same exact products we purchased the month before. I had called Nutrisystem and asked why they sent us a second box when we did not order it. The lady told me that we signed up with an "auto delivery", which means that we would be receiving their shipments every month until we canceled. I made it clear to the lady that we did not sign up with any "auto delivery" and that I just wanted to try out Nutrisystem for a month ONLY. She told me that she would be able to cancel the order but they would charge us a $59.96 cancellation fee along with the fees to ship the product back.
I was not about to pay for a mistake that they made. Like I told the sales person, if I was given this information prior to ordering, I would not have agreed to purchase even one month. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor then got on the phone and I told him what the situation was. He told me that there was nothing he could do and that "they get a million calls like these" in a day. That just means they rip millions of people off a day. When I told him to pull up the recording from the very first sales person that we placed our order with, he kept changing the subject. He then told me that he would speak to his supervisor and see what he can do for me and then give me a call back.
I never received a call back and my aunt got her statement in the mail, and they had charged her $299.00 plus shipping which came out to be $333.20. I had called them repeatedly and spoke to a few supervisors and everyone kept telling me the same thing. Finally, we called the bank and disputed the charge. Our bank then told us to contact consumer affairs and see what they could do. We are still fighting this charge.

Today is 5/27/11 and I just received the following email: "Your account has been credited, please be advised that a credit has been issued to you by Nutrisystem for your return of order # ***. This credit will be transmitted to our credit processor at midnight tonight. Please allow 10 to 14 business days for your financial institution to receive the credit information and to post it to your credit card or Bill Me Later account. Credits may not appear on your statement for one to two billing cycles". I still do not have my refund. Companies can always deduct from your account immediately on purchase, but when refunding, they will use any excuse to keep your money as long as possible. I hate when reps on the phone lie. My order was for $297! This is grocery money. Since they had their food and my money, I've had to go to great ends to get by for the last three weeks without my refund. The reps do not seem to care and quote company policy. I will never ever do business with them again.

On four separate occasions, I found objects in my plate of food that I ordered from Nutrisystem. The objects include a piece of thick blue plastic, a brown rubber band, a twig, and a thin piece of blue plastic. On at least three occasions, I actually phoned Nutrisystem to alert them of the problem. And I know they made detailed notes of my complaint. My complaints were not taken seriously; their response was to simply send me a replacement item of food. They continue to tell me that this rarely happens and that they have millions of customers who have not experienced this problem. However, in a span of 1 year, this has happened to me at least 4 times that I can recall.
After the most recent incident, they did ask me for detailed information regarding the object found in my food and serial numbers. Nutrisystem claims that their food is inspected by the US Department of Agriculture. But only about 10 percent of the packaged food items that I receive have an expiration date on the package. In order to find out the expiration date, customers have to call customer service and give them a special code off of the box. I believe that Nutrisystem has been negligent in their food safety standards and that they knowingly send out food that has poor quality. Over the span of 1 year, I have placed about 5 orders with Nutrisystem and I found objects in my food on at least 4 occasions. This has to be happening to someone else and I believe this problem deserves attention.

I called to inquire about the NutriSystem plan and food. After getting my contact information, I received several marketing phone calls and emails. One morning, I received a call that they were offering a plan for half price, for the first time. I was told that I would receive 28 days of food and if I did not like it and canceled within 7 days there would be no cost to me at all. If I did not cancel, I would automatically receive a second shipment at full price. The food arrived, there were mistakes of what I ordered.
The food tasted terrible and tore up my stomach. I called on the fourth day but they would not talk to you on the weekends. I called the following Monday, which was still before my 7 day deadline and canceled my order. The first person said that I would have to pay $18 for their shipping fee and whatever it costs me to ship it back. I asked to speak to a supervisor since the first person gave in the wrong information and my account was showing a $52 charge back fee. She said that she would correct it and that the only amount I would have to pay is what I would pay to ship the remaining 3 weeks worth of food back. It costs me $22.17 to return the food. The 2 days later, my bank account was charged $52. When I called NutriSystem, they said that until they get the food back they will not refund that charge. They also said that they will not refund the full amount because of the $18 shipping fee which they will keep. This company has a very bad food, customer service and fees. They should not be allowed to steal from consumers.

This company needs to be sued by a group of people for their unethical practices and terrible food.

I would like to give a warning to others about NutriSystem. I signed up for NutriSystem three months ago and found out that their practice is to be bait and switch. First of all, it's not clear that you have to buy fruits and vegetables in addition to their food. Secondly, after canceling my order for the second month, they are charging my credit card $60.00 for the cancellation. Instead of $289.99 for 28 days of food, they are charging me $349.99 for 28 days of food. This practice is purposely confusing and deceptive. I would not recommend this company to any of my friends based on this experience. Pass the word of warning to others who consider them before falling into their trap.

I called for the number to send the rest back and got the runaround for over 6 wks. By then, they kept the food and informed me that I still had to pay for it, even though they had it back because they didn't get it in the time allowed. They were the ones that kept sending me from one person to another. I like to never have got that awful stuff sent back and still had to pay almost $300 for nothing.

I signed up for Nutrisystem two months ago. I figured I would give it a shot but when my first shipment arrived, I knew I had made a mistake. The shelf stable food is disgusting. Most of it is made with mystery meat, overcooked vegetables, and way too much sauce on everything. I could only imagine what kind of chemicals are in the food. My favorite was the chicken salad, on the package it states "artificially lightened". Whats does that mean? They took the worst parts of the chicken and bleached them so they looked like white meat?
The frozen foods were okay but they don't let you customize what you are getting, so they give more of the cheap stuff. The chicken and turkey meals are gross because you can tell that they take the leftovers from the meatpacking plant and mush them together to make pieces of "chicken". I even found a piece of wood in the green beans which I choked on. When I called them to let them know, they gave me a $10 coupon off my next shipment. Are you kidding me? I could have gotten splinters in my throat from that. If you want to lose weight, just start eating healthy fresh food. It is way better than the chemical-laden food.

This is to all the ** who complain about Nutrisystems' return policy. It clearly gives you the option when you sign up to either select a 1 month plan or a multi- month plan (2 months or more). If you sign up for the multi-month plan, you get discounts. If you do not agree to the terms and cancel before 2 months, they charge you the difference between the regular rate and the discounted rate.
So how is Nutrisystem ripping off customers? You guys really need to learn how to read. I was on the program for a year and lost 60 lbs. The program worked well. I never had to call customer service. They have a new menu and the food is great. They have new frozen items now also.
A few people complain that they couldn't eat the food. It's healthy diet food, not the fatty, salty, greasy ** that you're used to eating. Once you transition to a healthy lifestyle, you learn that the food is not bad at all. Why do you think Nutrisystem has been around for 30+ years and has millions of customers? If you're thinking about signing up, check out the website and sign up on their website and browse their forms.

Try before you buy. A tip for those who are considering the Nutrisystem Plan: Go to your local Big Lots Store. They sell Nutrisystem foods. The boxed dinners sell for $3, and the lunch cups sell for $1, period. If you are considering the Nutrisystem membership plan, this is the way to go. Try the meals at a minimal cost to see if you like them. For those of us who have used the plan, this really puts you in control. You can purchase only the meals that you like, avoid shipping costs, etc. And if your state does not charge sales tax on food items, you pay only the price of the item. In other words, this is the most cost effective way to go! If your local Big Lots Store doesn't stock the Nutrisystem meals, ask them if they can get them for you. I have used the plan off and on for the past two years, and have lost over 30 lbs. The plan does work, by the way, if you are willing to follow it! Happy weight loss!

Looking closer at the offer, it gave a Web address that took me straight to the promotional offer for "1 week free." The pricing on this separate page was $299.
When I used their online customer service's chat function to try to understand the discrepancy, the representative first agree that the current price was $239, then began to adamantly declare the price was $299. I could even choose my promotion for "1 week free" or their "rollback price" of $239--the current price. In January of 2011, I signed my husband and I up for Nutrisystem. The ad claimed that we would get a week free and if we chose a certain plan, we would receive a deal. I never realized that you had to order 2 months of the food to receive the deal. I received an email today that my auto-ship would be sent on Feb 7 and if I needed to change anything, that I would need to call prior to Feb 6. I called to cancel both my husband's and mine. I haven't lost any weight and my husband lost 5 pounds but that's it. When I called to cancel they told me that there would be a charge. One charge for the shipping and handling of the this month's order and for the 10% discount on the first month's orders. I had absolutely no idea. They said it was in the terms and conditions and that when I ordered I had to have read it.
Well I never read it and the website does not give any indications of this. The woman said that upon ordering I had to have read the terms and conditions and marked a box. I would have remembered that because I would never obligate myself to something for 2 months that I was not sure of. Just to check things out, I pretended to be someone else and I filled out an order form, without submitting and sure enough there was no box to check terms and conditions. Their website and claims are very misleading and I find it very hard to believe that what they are doing is legal. The average American who is not aware of how this company works can get the wool pulled over their eyes. It happened to me and I am sure it is happening to others.

All of the food is absolutely horrible - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pasta turns to mush when microwaved. The so called desserts taste like cheap vending machine food. Products are loaded with sodium and are extremely high in fat and calories. I was very surprised to learn how unhealthy this food is. The only healthy part of the plan was the veggies and fruit I had to buy to supplement their food.
Between the price of the Nutrisystem food and the cost of the food I had to buy to supplement their food, I spent a small fortune. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this food to anyone - not even those starving in third world countries. I was responsible for paying a "cancellation of auto delivery" fee for the two accounts I activated for an additional cost of $104 on top of the $540 initial outlay.
An expensive lesson; I realize I am responsible for this life lesson. No need for an attorney to contact me. I just want this duly noted for others. A warning, if you will.

Why did I have to go through all of this to make an honest return? Where is the honesty of Nutrisystem?
I feel that this is an unethical scam. If I did not have my paperwork and proof of shipping, then basically, they would have pretended to not have gotten the goods as they did. I wonder how many other people have had this happen to them. Surely, if they got that package at all, which they surely did, they wouldn't have given me the measly $6.95 for it and then they would have the weight on it and known that it was worth more than $6.95.

After reading your site, I decided to write also. I had the worst experience with Nutrisystem also. I joined with QVC to get Nutrisystem. The food was horrible! The worst. I called them to tell them that I had diabetes, that I could not eat all these sweets they were sending, and that I was allergic to soy. They kept sending me all kinds of soy nuts and soy products. I called constantly and no response back and or there was nothing they could do. I had so many foods I couldn't eat and I wanted to send them back. They finally said they would issue a credit when I returned it. I did but never had a refund to this date and a few years have passed. The customer service was terrible. No one cared about my health or what food I was getting. They kept sending it all the time. I was hungry because I couldn’t eat what they sent most of the times. One person is right, food was spicy and salty, each one that was sent.
After I stopped it, they did charge me too and gave me a hard time. They lie and the food is not fresh. On TV, I think they get food from a restaurant because it does not look like TV at all! Months later after I wrote 5 letters, I finally had a call from the main office. I called back for two weeks everyday and this person never returned my call. I guess he called once and said we want to make up to you, what happened and please contact me. How convenient, he never returned any of my calls! One customer service representative told me that I could not get other choices even though I had diabetes. It's what it is. I was so misinformed and so is everyone else in this world.
Try small portions, fix them, and freeze them yourself with your good food choices. It is so much easier to do and cost so much more. Everyone is paying less than $300.00 a month. Make the portions yourself and freeze! I have no use for this company. They should start getting fined and people should get a group lawsuit against them for horrible food. This food was not fresh! When I inquired why I would be charged, they claimed that because the food is being returned, I would be responsible for the fee. I never agreed to those terms, and furthermore it was not explained to me that I would be charged a shipping fee.
After two weeks of being ignored and pushed around by customer service, they explained that the fee will not be waived and I am responsible. They advised me to ship the remainder of food to them for a refund less the shipping fee, but suggested that I use FedEx or UPS. I went to FedEx and was charged $45.00 to ship the item back. I was very displeased as what they advertised is very misleading. It should also be explained in detail to consumers exactly what the terms and conditions are. Unlike many of the complaints on here, I do not have a problem with the food. I do not like to cook, so NutriSystem was perfect for me, and the food was decent. I lost 16 pounds in a month, and the few times I went to a restaurant, I found that I was eating much smaller portions.
My problem was that toward the end of the first month, my husband received unexpected military orders overseas, and I was of course moving with him. We have two months to pack, sell our house, find a new house, and move half way around the world. Although I liked NutriSystem, the last thing I want is to have more things to pack. I called to cancel, and was told that there would be a $54 fee charged to my credit card. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who explained that it was the charge for free shipping ($33), plus the 10% discount that I was originally given on my first month of food.
He told me that they offer a one-month non-recurring plan, and that I should have chosen that option when I initially signed up with the company. I explained my situation, and I mentioned that I liked NutriSystem and would probably order food again after I got settled in my new home. He still said that there was nothing he could do about the $54 charge, and that I could dispute it with my credit card company if I chose to.
I feel that this is a horrible slap in the face from a customer service standpoint. I don't want to move my family out of the country, and would like nothing more than to stay in my home and continue losing weight on NutriSystem. For him to say that I should have chosen the one-month plan was an insult. How could I have known that the military would be sending us overseas? Now I have no choice but to pay this money. I will never use NutriSystem again and cannot recommend them to anyone else.
