Toys"R"Us, left for dead a mere two years ago, appears to be fully recovered and has relaunched its annual Geoffrey's Hot Toy List for the upcoming 2020 holiday season.

The company’s toy detectives have kept their eye on what kids and parents have been asking for, and it’s an interesting list of old school faves, toy trucks, and techtronic gadgets.

Timing is everything when it comes to toys and the holidays

As anyone who’s ever sweated out finding a hot holiday toy knows, once word gets out and children start wanting the same things every other kid wants, finding those toys could be a fight to the finish.

Having pared back its physical U.S. locations from 739 to two (Paramus, New York and Houston Texas), Toys"R"Us has loaded up its warehouses with the toys it says are hot and seems ready to take on the Amazons, Walmarts, and Targets of the world.

To add some incentive, Toys"R"Us will be hosting its first Toys"R"Us 21 Days of Toys Sweepstakes. Starting Wednesday, customers in the U.S. can enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win one of the toys from this year's Hot Toy List and the grand prize, a $400 virtual shopping spree at the Houston Toys"R"Us store.

Word of caution

When it comes to buying items from Toys"R"Us, consumers should be fully aware of the company’s return policy. ConsumerAffairs couldn’t find a “return policy,” per se, listed on the company’s website, but reader reviews suggest some caution.

Toy shoppers should also be aware that buying larger items such as a bicycle might prove difficult if the item has to be returned to a returns center and not an actual store. As we mentioned, Toys"R"Us has only two physical store locations in the U.S., but more than 80 in Canada and hundreds overseas.
