Consumers who have both rewards programs, and link the accounts to each other, are eligible to earn one mile per $1 spent at Starbucks. Then, on the day of a scheduled Delta flight, flyers will receive double stars when making a purchase at Starbucks.
“Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles are centered on creating moments of meaningful connection, and by bringing together two of the country’s most celebrated loyalty programs, we are able to reward members with more of what they love,” said Ryan Butz, vice president of loyalty and strategy at Starbucks. “We are excited to partner with Delta to offer our members even more valuable benefits, as well as invite more customers to join Starbucks Rewards.”
Booking flights and buying coffee comes with perks
The first step to start receiving these rewards is to ensure that you’re enrolled in both Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles. Then, link the accounts by visiting deltastarbucks.com or starbucksdelta.com.
This will automatically enroll you in the new combined rewards program, and purchases at Starbucks will start earning you airline miles. The partnership is already in effect, so your morning trip to Starbucks can start earning you Delta rewards immediately.
Additionally, any members who link their accounts between now and the end of the year will immediately earn 500 miles, and after making a qualifying purchase, will also earn 150 stars at Starbucks.
Now, part of Choice Benefits
Delta has also incorporated Starbucks into its Choice Benefits program. Currently, Choice Benefits are additional rewards and perks that SkyMiles members can gain based on how many miles they rack up with Delta. Some benefits include a statement credit on an applicable credit card, gifting reward status to a friend or family member, and a Delta Vacations experience, among others.
Now, with this new Starbucks partnership, SkyMiles members who are either Diamond or Platinum status can choose to get 4,000 Starbucks stars as their Choice Benefit.
“We’re continuing to evolve Delta’s SkyMiles program to give our customers valuable, premium experiences not just on the days they travel, but in their everyday lives,” said Prashant Sharma, vice president of loyalty at Delta. “Through this new partnership with Starbucks, we can deliver more moments and interactions that matter, both in the air and on the ground.”
