The beginning was easy to acquire with a $ 99.00 move in. That's the catch to lure you in. And I do mean lure. After the first 9 months, I got my first notice of increase from 99 to 120. The next 6 months another increase. 2025 I'm at 220. I have another storage unit in another County. I have been with them for 15 years/ I got my first increase on November 2024 in the amount of $10.00 for a 20x20 bringing my total to $120.00 dollars.

So don't let the advertisement about first month being 1 cent/ It's only the bait to lure in. If you are late the late fee is 35.00 dollars along with a new lock change out. They will hassle you every day for a payment. Don't worry about putting on the paper text me. They are going to hound you for your payment. Recommendation about Renting from them. Just look up the debt they have. It's public knowledge 9.47 billion $$$$. I now know why the quick rate increases and the reasons why... My Advice is keep on driving past this entity. Don't be a cash crop.

It took Public Storage over six months to fix the door that will open my storage unit. I had to complain in writing and in with state agencies on even getting it done. Most of the time I could not close it where it would lock. But the number one reason you should not rent here is that they will raise your rent price 40% within the year. That minimum deal you get, you get for just a month or two, it’s horrible go somewhere else. Within the Midvale, State Street, location, there are numerous rentals and I have checked on their pricing and they don’t even raise it annually.

I am appalled at Public Storage service agreement. I am renting a storage unit, got it in Dec 2024 for an online price of $108.00 per month. Nothing was ever mentioned that they can go up on your rental fee anytime they choose to. So I got an email telling me in Feb 2025 my new fee would be $159.00 a month. WHAT! I have never renting storage and they go up on the fee like that due to availability they said though they are giving a discount online for the same unit for $91.00. That is just bad business in this economy or anytime. I will be finding a new storage company or just sell or give my items away that is too much a month. I was also told they could go up again in another 90 days if they need to. PLEASE be careful before you rent from them they are slippery characters.

Like many others have commented, this is a bait and switch game. They get you in with lower rent and then they steeply increase the rent once all of your items are moved in, making it hard to move. Do not bother. Find an alternative.

Avoid, it's a rip off business model. They get you in at a price (for me it was 180/mo) and then will consistently move the rate up (after 2 years it was 340). So it almost doubled. When I called to try to get a fair price restored, first they made me play phone tag, and one even refused to talk to me at all without a "security code" which I didn't have. The ones that would talk to me claimed that they had to increase costs to make money, etc. Nobody would help me, I always "needed to talk to someone else" or "that's just the way the storage business works, too bad".

What disgusted me was checking their current rates on their own website and seeing my EXACT unit at the EXACT same location still offered at the EXACT $180 price. So, this is a predatory business. They have calculated that they can make more profits by exorbitant rent price increases several times a year vs. advertising and signing up their new customers at a transparent but slightly higher price. I will never do business with them again.

Public Storage bought out the privately owned property at 8100 S Main in Houston, TX. No notice of the purchase, no readily available information or lease documents, frequent price increase (Nearly 100% in 15 months), extra fees and in February 2025, I was 20 days late on rent (not typical). In excess of 20 calls, sometimes 3-4 per day and countless emails and texts. Have had this unit 6.5 years prior to PS buying, for a total of 7.5 years and they act like I am a deadbeat thief, while they are the ones that have raised rent, charged questionable "extra fees" and really provided no service beyond what benefits them. I suggest Public Storage be avoided; there are too many other choices out there.

I chose to vacate my last remaining storage unit when they raised my rates, AGAIN, demanding $770/month for a 10x15 unit. The current advertised rate is $232/month. I rented a larger storage unit at a different facility for less money. I advised Public Storage I was moving out. Staff at the location saw me moving out. I have receipts from the new facility and the moving company confirming I moved out. Not being an idiot, I turned off the AutoPay. I didn't trust Public Storage to NOT try to steal money from my account for a storage unit they knew I no longer occupied.

Three guess as to what they did. That's right. They tried to take money from my account, they were thwarted because the AutoPay was no longer active. I'm now receiving threatening phone calls and emails, demanding I pay them rent for a unit they know I no longer occupy. I went to the storage facility, showed them my lock (which they advised me to take with me when I moved out, further proof they knew I was moving out). They insisted there is a lock on my old unit, therefore I still occupy it and have to pay.

Either they're lying about a lock being on the unit, they placed a lock on an empty unit, or they already rented the unit to someone else and are fraudulently trying to get paid twice for the same unit. I was told someone from corporate would call me by end of business Friday to get this resolved. NO ONE CALLED. I just checked my old account on the Public Storage website. THEY ARE STILL DEMANDING MONEY FROM ME!!! MONEY THEY KNOW I DO NOT OWE!!!!

The front door (parking lot access) was busted open BUT the access door to the first floor units was not... same access code - 1st RED FLAG.

** the "manager" was very vague with what happened and what Public Storage will do. The crowbar used to bend the garage door up was left in our unit. I hid the crow bar to retrieve the next day. 24 hours later, our door was repaired and I went back to retrieve the crowbar since the police asked for it. To my shock, the crowbar was gone! The manager (**) had asked me to send him pictures of the crowbar... I stupidly did!! Only 3 people knew the crowbar was in there - me, my husband and **. He denied taking it and said it was probably the door repair guy. (RED Flag 2 - they allow a repair person to rummage thru my unsecured unit????) He gave me **'s number. We moved from Europe to the US and needed extra storage for a couple of months. Our storage unit got broken into and our collection of antiques which we gathered for over 25 years was stolen from us. They also took boxes with family pictures and unique art pieces by my late artist grandfather. The insurance Public Storage offered is useless as they need receipts which we don’t have for antiques that have been in the family since 3 or 4 generations. When I asked the receptionist if we were a unique case, he answered we were the 4th robbed box in a week and there was a plague nationwide.

Thieves open an account anonymously to get access to the grounds, park a van in front of the door to block the view for the cameras, open it with a bolt cutter, empty the box and off they are. We filed a police report and by the time an inspector was on the case, Public Storage had already erased all the video material. I am truly devastated. Their business model is borderline malicious as they don’t improve the security. They also raised the fee for our box from $140 to $200 in 5 months. Many people using their service need this as a temporary solution and are already in some kind of struggle and the main shareholder, who is the founder’s daughter, is the 241 richest person on the planet sitting on $8 billion. I feel like I’m robbed twice. Avoid at all costs.

Problem with website description of unit and customer service for 151 Handover St., Peabody Massachusetts. I Stop by to look at the space I wanted to rent to confirm it was what I wanted. During business hours no one was there. I stopped by three times from 10:00-3:15 and left two messages to call me back about questions about the space. I also called the main Public Storage to help me complete the rental and they said The system wouldn’t let them complete the booking and I had to do it in the Office or online. I was moving my daughter‘s dorm stuff so I had to go ahead and book online because no one would call me back or was in office during business hours. The space is misleading. The Description of a space says ceilings of locker maybe lower than typical units. It says it has elevator access but does not mention once you use the elevator to get to the space. You then have to climb at 10 foot ladder to put stuff in the unit.

This is why I wanted to look at it first. When Ana finally opened at 3.47 in the afternoon on Friday 17th I let Ana know that this is not the type of space I need and I need to switch to one that starts on the ground. She informed me I could change the unit to one that was taller and on floor level. She said the new price was gonna cost me $32. I ask why if I booked online it was $22.00. She told me she could not give me that rate. That I had to cancel the first reservation and wouldn’t refund me the $29 administrative fee and I would have to pay it again to book another space online. I should’ve not had to pay $29 twice to book the right space. Ana’s customer service was cold and unhelpful. She would not even call someone to make sure this couldn’t be corrected. Someone should’ve been in the office during the office hours. This would’ve avoided the problem altogether.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the escalating storage rates at [Your Local Public Storage Location]. Over the past four years, I have consistently paid my rent on time, despite facing significant financial challenges while serving on overseas missions. Despite my consistent payments, the monthly rate for my 10x25 unit has increased dramatically, from $217.80 to the current $366, with a proposed further increase to $422. These exorbitant increases are unsustainable and financially burdensome, particularly now that I have relocated to North Carolina. Furthermore, the lack of adequate security at this facility is a major concern. The prospect of losing all my possessions, including irreplaceable family heirlooms, due to an unforeseen inability to keep up with these escalating costs is deeply unsettling.

To add further insult to injury, I now face the significant expense of relocating my belongings from Alabama to North Carolina. These exorbitant storage costs, coupled with the added expense of moving, have created an immense financial burden. I have attempted to address these concerns with management and have also tried to contact customer service at the corporate level. However, I have encountered significant difficulties in reaching a human representative. The automated phone system and limited customer service options make it extremely challenging to resolve issues and voice concerns effectively.

I strongly advise against using Public Storage due to their exorbitant pricing, inadequate security measures, lack of customer-centric policies, and the difficulties encountered in resolving customer concerns. I believe this company prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction and fails to provide a reliable and secure storage solution. I would prefer to not give them one star, however I am required to in order to make this post.

I received a call earlier in the day from a lady named Carmen and she was not in any way as helpful as Angie was. She was quite rude when I proceeded to tell her I was told something different than the info she was providing me and she rudely repeated herself and hung up. I wish ALL the customer service agents were as respectful as Angie. She truly made a negative experience into a positive one.

Still pretty good although small things like doors were inoperable or moving carts missing. My biggest gripe is that no one answers the phone or calls back. I’m displaced due to Hurricane Helene but can’t wait to vacate this unit. Very displeased.

Easy to set up a unit but the exit has been a horrible experience! Vacated in December with end date of 12/31/24. Did exactly what I was told to do - use app to put move out date, remove contents, leave lock off, and leave door open. January I get a call that I haven't paid my bill, told her I had moved out and done what I was told to do. Couple days later another call and told that my unit still had a lock on it.... Told her not my lock! Today after many more calls, voice mails and messages left with no success in getting this issue resolved I get a notice of default. Again I get on phone trying to reach a human and told the same thing that it would take 48 to 72 hours to see what is happening and they'd reach out to the district manager - I've left several messages for him also on the number he gave me when he gave me instructions for terminating the lease.

I'm not sure who has stuff in that unit or who's lock is on the unit but if they cut the lock and sell the contents - the stuff isn't mine so they will be selling someone else stuff. I'm thinking they have rerented it and not removed me from the unit properly or someone has rented and put their stuff in the wrong unit. Today started the next 48 to 72 hours for them to figure out what is happening - no call in 72 hours and I'll be calling my attorney to start legal process to stop the harassment and the false charges! Will never use them again nor would I ever recommend them to anyone! Customer service has been weak at best!!!!

When I found my little 5’x10’ storage unit for less than $200 monthly, I was so happy. In December 2022, I was forced from my home in a terrible divorce, and all I had left in the world would fit into this tiny locker. In fact, there was room left over most importantly, wise my racing wheelchair that was given to me so that I could compete at the Olympic level as a para athlete. Since then, my rent has gone up for that little locker from less than $200 to nearly $300. Recently, the firestorms in L.A. County forced me to evacuate from my transitional housing unit at West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. Now my living situation is even more tenuous than it was in December 2022.

I’m grateful that many businesses, even the phone company have relaxed the due dates for services and storage because of the extreme hardship being endured for the victims of the Los Angeles County fire storms. This is not the case with Public Storage. If I am one day late for a payment, the coercion via nasty threats begin. They charge horrible late charges and threaten that even if I catch up my account, they will not allow me to access my few little possessions.

The rent is always just about to go up, the service charges are always hammering me down And there is absolutely no consideration of mercy towards the poverty stricken homeless disabled veterans like myself I don’t need to get out of paying my bills, but these terrible threats, when I’m only two weeks late, make me feel as if I’m living in a dystopian culture like The Third Reich! Unfortunately, I can’t give them the rating. They deserve. Because I can’t go lower than one. Public Storage is an awful company constantly on the workout for ways to extort your last dollar, separate you from your possessions - forever.

As a loyal Public Storage customer since 2017, I am extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism I experienced with property manager Miranda. I formally complained about her behavior in March 2023 when she refused to answer my questions and spoke to me in a condescending manner. Despite promises from corporate that my concerns would be taken seriously, nothing has changed.

While traveling for work in Boston, I encountered further issues when items scheduled for auction on December 24th were mishandled due to technical difficulties I had with payments on my larger unit. Miranda insisted I had to pay on time, yet I was unable to make the payment because the system wouldn’t accept it. Despite having the funds available, I missed the deadline. When I finally reached Miranda after many attempts, instead of receiving help, I felt dismissed. I urgently asked her to contact the buyer of my items, which included personal documents, but she continued to avoid my calls and failed to follow through with any assistance over the next several days.

After another week of attempts to reach her, I connected with a manager at a different location who quickly resolved my queries. This entire experience left me feeling disregarded by Miranda and Public Storage. Despite my many attempts at communicating, I have not received any feedback from corporate or the district manager. Overall, my customer service experience has been unacceptable. If you’re considering using Public Storage, think twice. You may find yourself at a loss for words—or worse, for your belongings.

This is a horrible company to do business as they lure you in with a competitive price and then in a few months they will increase rent by over 50%, Then you are stuck at that rate and if you are a long term renter they will increase you to 300%. An agent that worked for them told me that they get complaints all the time and in fact they put in their notice and was leaving the company for this particular behavior as this is what they plan on doing to all customers in hopes that the customer cannot pay and they will then end up with items in the unit to sale them and the company makes even more money.

That employee stated is a ongoing bet which unit they will get. The employees get to bet and whoever wins the bet gets to pick one big item out of the unit to keep as their prize. How horrible! Stay away from location on Granbury Rd in Fort Worth TX as the service is the worst on top of the scam they have going on which attorney is looking into and states could be end up being a massive lawsuit.

I have called repeatedly. I had an issue before the first month was even due and it seems as if they just want to take my possession and sell it because I can’t get hold of anyone to resolve the issue. I have nightmares because all that I own is in this place. I’m scared all of my furniture and possessions will be sold. When I call and actually get ahold of management I’m told, "I don’t know. Once I get into my permanent home I will never ever use this place again. This isn’t the first storage place I used but this is by far the worst. It has ruined the holidays for me. These people are thieves. Please don’t be fool by that first month free. It’s like a moth to the zapper light. This should be criminal. The photos of my bill saying I’m past due yet when I go to the payment center it shows the bill not even due till January first. I have paid them over 100.00 and it says the first month's free. If I can’t resolve this I will have to pay movers another 1000.00 to take it to a different facility so that my things are safe.

For holding the storage, I worked 12 hour shifts, and I had public storage calling me constantly. About putting money down to hold the storage. That was a nightmare within itself, I finally end up getting the storage with. These guys are clearly crystally clear, told the man I have a Dodge Challenger. I was storing for the winner. Long story short, got my car all winterized. Got it ready to be? Stored got to the facility, couldn't get in. Go around to the other door can't get in. Go back to the other door can't get in. There was never anybody ever at any facility every time I called. No one ever answered the phone at this facility. There was nobody there. We had to call the national hotline, so they're telling me I'm at the wrong door. Go back to the other door that I was previously at twice.

Now I'm able to get in because she says she reset whatever the code was, but I'm still like I can't get into the facility to park my car coming to find out they gave me an outdoor storage. I had to pick up my other car that was getting worked on So I had somebody following me wasted over 2 hours with these dudes, and then when I asked for my money back, they told me they couldn't give it to me. So I said you guys screwed and jerked me around for over 2 hours, didn't give me the storage I wanted and then you're going to take my money and tell me that there's nothing they can do about it. Was told (via a recording) I had reached a different location.

I left a message. I never heard from anyone. I went to the website & chatted with the rep. I was told 'It shows there has been no interruption with my code. It has not been disabled at any time.' At no point was I able to get a valid phone number in order to talk to a person. As for this latest rent increase, I do not intend to go through that run around again. Leaving a review seems to be the only way I can voice my opinion on Public Storage's practices. I will be moving my things.

I've had this unit since 2023 and for a year there was no problems and the old manager Jennifer who lived on site was awesome. But now the two men who run it I've complained several times that the climate control is not controlled. Someone keeps turning it up to about 78 and it's Florida. If I wanted humid I'd get a cheaper outside unit. Now my things have mold on them and I had bugs and was told to take care of it myself. So I decided I'm going to vacate and I get a attitude saying, "You still have to pay your bill." I moved in late which prorated and I am allergic to mold so I couldn't vacate right away and I also had to make sure I was taking verminates and bugs and anything else with me.

Like I said the manager before was on point and it was maintained correctly. I don't know what happened but I'm not happy. I was homeless and now I have to get rid of my stuff and the insurance I have to pay deductible first like what the hell. I vacated by Dec 4. I'm done and I'm not paying a extra month worth if I literally got sick cause the mold and had to dispose of premises myself. No longer will deal with that storage facility anymore.

I called, spoke with two different customer service rep which both gave me wrong information, had me sitting in the front place on Sunday morning 9:30 to 10:15am to find they didn’t know if someone was coming to open the unit. 2nd rep was worried about my licenses # for I’d that don’t even match.

I then spoke with rep later Sunday afternoon, told her I would be there on Monday between 1:00pm and 1:30, again I went there, sat in front, no one in the office. They need to put the hours on the front door, I’m sorry your short staff, where is the property manager riding around in his Tesler. As a relocating medical professional with an ER doctor background moving from Florida to North Carolina, I experienced a rather unsatisfactory interaction with a Public Storage customer service representative, whose demeanor was unfortunately less hospitable than one might expect from a company operating within the service sector. Despite my clearly communicated requirements for a storage solution suitable for a Jaguar vehicle & personal furnishings, the CSR's tone was marked by a discernible sarcasm when addressing a minor error in the provided zip code. This individual proceeded to question the operational status of my vehicle & its registration, seemingly assuming an authoritative stance that felt both unnecessary and disrespectful.

Moreover, the representative's subsequent remark, implying that my failure to pay the storage fees could result in my possessions being relegated to a "junkyard," was not only unprofessional but also indicative of a troubling corporate culture that may not align with the respect & care that I would prefer for my belongings. My primary concern was to obtain a comprehensive quote encompassing both my vehicle & furniture storage needs. However, the CSR's persistent focus on furniture storage only served to exacerbate the situation.

Given the lack of attentiveness to my specific requirements & the disrespectful tone of the conversation, I chose to seek alternative storage options from a competitor whose approach to customer service was more aligned with my expectations. This decision was motivated by a desire to ensure that my valuables are managed by a company that demonstrates a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction & respects the significance of the trust placed in them by their clients.

I ended up having to buy another storage unit to get my stuff put away before the truck rental ended.

Calling on Monday, I called their main customer service number to get a refund on their "Admin Fee" which is "non-refundable" under the contract. My reasoning to get a refund is that if I never received the contracted item/service, I am entitled to a refund. If not that would be fraud. I called three separate times, each time I was either hung up on after being left on hold for a long period of time, or very nearly berated for not understanding the fee is "non-refundable" for something I never received. Extremely poor customer service on the corporate level. When I initially rented my storage space, I specifically asked, "How long is the rate good for?" The representative assured me, "As long as you rent it." I knew to be skeptical, expecting eventual increases, but I was recently hit with a 20% hike. After doing some research, it became clear that this increase wasn’t random—it’s part of their business strategy. Moving to a new unit would cost even more than the increase itself, making it financially impractical to leave. These companies know this; once your belongings are in storage, they effectively have leverage over you. If you don’t pay the higher rate, they can lock up your unit and ultimately auction your items. Moving out is possible but costly, and their pricing model relies on most customers opting to stay despite increases.

This isn’t a one-off tactic—larger storage companies use this numbers game regularly. For them, a few customers leaving due to price hikes is offset by the higher rates they collect from everyone who stays. Recommendation: Avoid large storage companies with month-to-month leases if possible. Instead, look for small, independently-owned businesses that offer 6-month or 1-year contracts, more like an apartment lease, which may have more predictable rates. If that’s not an option, do your research on pricing practices for each company to see how often and by how much they typically raise rates. Be cautious of "move-in specials," which often come with significant rate increases shortly after you settle in.

Gladys has shoved food underneath my storage locker door to encourage rodent infestation. Rodents have destroyed more than $10,000 worth of property I had stored in my locker. Gladys has taken every opportunity to make my experience with Public Storage miserable and torturous. I made Jimmy ** aware of the behavior recently, but it seems Gladys will continue these behaviors, if present activities are any indication.

This leaves me with two viable options to end the criminal behavior Gladys perpetrates against me: 1) File a lawsuit; 2) Leave/end my patronage of Public Storage altogether. With regard to Harassment and Stalking: Upon entering the Public Storage coded-entry gate, Gladys begins a campaign of following me and watching me - this has been happening for years, and is not an irregular occurrence. I have reduced the frequency of my visits for this reason - Gladys makes me feel threatened. I started going to my storage locker before dawn when the gates first open at 6 am - soon thereafter, Gladys began doing the same. I started going to my storage locker later at night before the gates close at 9 pm - soon thereafter, Gladys followed suit.

Public Storage keeps digital logs regarding the coded-gate entry of its patrons. There is also video footage on file in your offices. A thorough check of these databases by a Public Storage employee or officer will reveal much of the evidence I am alleging took place. These records may also be subpoenaed in the event of a court proceeding. The behavior of Gladys in this case is terrifying, pathological and criminal. Public Storage, through its property manager Gladys, is engaging in a criminal enterprise which gives me little recourse but to seek assistance from law enforcement.

Short-term, not bad. Long term the rate hikes get absurd. Find a better storage facility who will treat you with some respect.

Awful experience all the way around this morning when I simply called for needed help. Their phone representative, Sandra, was rude, snide and altogether the very worst customer rep we have ever dealt with. She said it was to be expected that their already high rate was being raised a lot for the second time in a year and said this was how the storage business works. She kept rudely interrupting me and would not listen at all. I finally pleaded with her, repeatedly, to please let me speak for just one minute without being constantly interrupted but she refused...just kept loudly talking over me, basically bullying me. Does that not say a lot about Public Storage overall? It was bad enough to be shocked by their sky-high rate hikes twice in less than a year but being treated so disrespectfully made it clear that Public Storage is not the right choice.

When I asked management about the incident, the manager "Charles" did not show any support. He just kept saying, "Contact your insurance carrier." I don't know how or when, but apparently it was raining in my unit. The few items that were not taken were covered with mold spores. Additionally, rat droppings and rat urine were present. Lastly, after I moved out, Public Storage still goes into my account every month and take money.

The only reason for 1 Star is because 0 Stars is not an option. I have been a Public Storage customer for 3 years and can say with certainty that they have unscrupulous business practices when it comes to pricing. My original rate at the end of 2021 was $143.84 and my rate incrementally recently increased to a high of $346.29. As a "courtesy" they reduced my rate back to the previous $273.69 for 3 months and was told by an Escalation Supervisor that there is no one able to reduce it further. In what world does fair market value for a 10'x10' storage unit increase in value by 2.5 times? Especially when introductory rates for the same unit are at $112 with a special reduction to $69.

The idea that longevity is not only meaningless, but exploited is the worst kind of business practice. Perhaps there are people out there who would expect such an increase, but I am not one of them. I will never recommend Public Storage to anyone and will be moving out of my unit as soon as possible. This company should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers!

The thieves used a crowbar to pry open the door from the hinge mechanism so that the lock would appear intact and ok. Upon researching this is not a new issue however. Public storage has had this problem in Austin and other Colorado. The thing is people need gate access codes to leave. The only way they can do this is if they someone helping them from the inside. Their management is not helpful. The district manager didn’t bother to call me. Their corporate doesn’t care and aware that theft is a rampant problem but they don’t know anything about it. Our most recent experience was at a Public Storage located at 2301 E Ben White Blvd, in Austin, TX. The facility is dirty, one of the two elevators is frequently out of service, 3 of the 4 carts are missing, and the bathroom always locked. Most concerning is that complaints to the district and even the regional manager have not produced any results. I am not sure why this occurring. I know that managers are bonus driven and perhaps reducing maintenance expenses is one objective, but this seems like a short term strategy at best. We just vacated three climate controlled lockers from this site and paid to have it moved to a different company. Very sad to see a good company fail like this.

I recently had a fantastic experience with Public Storage, thanks to Pam from both Pickerington location and Yasi from the Kenny Rd location. Immediately following my attempts to make a reservation online I received a call from Pam to gather more information. At that time Pam was helpful and provided all the information I needed upfront and alerted me that my plan to have our belongings dropped off via a moving truck wouldn’t work, giving me time to adjust.

In the meantime, while juggling too many tasks post-move, I accidentally booked a unit farther away than I intended. I went to the Kenny Rd location to fix this issue where I was greeted by Yasi. Yasi went above and beyond to help me understand and fix the issue. Even though she couldn’t resolve everything on her end, she made sure I knew exactly what to do next. Pam followed up afterward, working with me to clear up the residual confusion I had caused and patiently worked with me to get my plans back on track.

I feel both Pam and Yasi could sense my stress (moving to another state is SO stressful), but they approached my concerns with professionalism, kindness, and understanding, and for that, I’m beyond grateful. I highly recommend Public Storage for their excellent customer service and the teamwork of both Pam and Yasi in helping this new Ohioan experience the friendliness and hospitality of the Midwest.

I wish everyone would cease renting from this company so they would learn the value of long term customers. Count on 30%+ increases in your rental fee every 6 months (yes 50-60% per year) while they have other units available for 1/2 the price. They have zero value in long term customers. This company is only useful for a short-term solution. Once they charge your account for a month you are stuck with that entire charge - you can pro-rate a month when you move in, but not pro-rate a month when you move out so make sure your life works on a calendar month. I did not receive the email that was supposedly sent to notify me of a huge increase (I accepted the last 30% increase and paid it for 6 months due to life circumstances; I would not have accepted this one). Since they have already charged my account they will do ZERO to help me with the current charge, so now I have about 25 days to move my stuff out and find another solution.

This was a great place to start with and would recommend it IF you don't plan on storing for longer than a year, or two. My only issue with Public Storage is the rate increases That occur yearly, and not by just little. I started out paying 29.99 a month, and each year / month the cost increased, more than 25%. I now pay 194.00 a month. On one occasion they acknowledged the increase was at a 45% rate, so they reduced it. They reduced the increase once, and denied all other requests since, in writing. In summary, when renting any storage unit, ask about the yearly increases and what the rate is. I was informed by Public employees "there is no cap" on how much they can increase someone's rate. So make sure, when renting, that you are aware of the rate increases so you don't have to find another storage facility.

Before moving to Florida, I have used many storage facilities for my business and personal needs. This is my first experience with the Public Storage in Ocala and I couldn't make it my last fast enough. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because I do believe my stuff was safe, but the rest of the experience was so bad, I had a hard time justifying giving them that. The company thinks it can run itself without any one actually working there.... just use the kiosk. lol It took me an hour and ten minutes and talking on the phone with 4 different representatives to actually rent out a couple of their units. And after the first months $1 promotion is over, the next monthly figure you will see is not your monthly rate, but a prorated rate for the remainder of the month. Very misleading. I'm sure it explains it somewhere in small print, but it is not truly clear or transparent.

The third month you will see your actual monthly charge. For me it was a 10x15 unit that cost me $230 after taxes. The most expensive unit I have ever paid for by far!! Don't forget to get your own lock cause after 30 days you will be charged $20 for the one they provide you, non-refundable. I am sure that it is written somewhere in the fine print also.

12 minutes on their website's chat feature just to ask where do I write a review. After a few computerized answers that answered nothing, a real person finally came on answered my question. There are a few other things I could comment on but I'm done and I'm done with them. After my experience, I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this company. There are so many mom and pop storage facilities out there that will greet you with a smile :) and a hello. The one I moved to in Crystal River is a bigger unit for less money, 10x20 unit for $151/month not including taxes. Super nice lady behind the counter who had me checked with all the t's crossed and the i's dotted in under ten minutes.
