    If I could give zero stars I would. Raised rates significantly, was told it was based off market rate data. When I asked to be provided with this data they told me no. I was not notified of my rate increase. I was told "Nothing we can do" then "Oh actually we can but only this much and only if it was approved". Next the manager said it WAS approved. For one month. Several units around mine were empty and the going rate to rent the same unit was 150 less than what they were charging me.

    DO NOT USE!!! I got a unit back in around November, the price was around 65$. I called and spoke with them before committing because I notice there was no lock in for the price. I ask them, is this one of those things where you get me in at a low price then jack it up 2 months later? The lady assured me no there would be no price increase and if there was it would be well over 6 months from then. Well surprise, surprise, 3 months later I get notified they are raising my price by around 30$. They get you in low, then you move everything in, After it's all in and you don't wanna move it all again, they jack the price up.

    ALLEN PARK, MI LOCATION - I reserved unit online for next day. While on my way I call to confirm and all calls go to Corporate Office, you are not sent to the telephone line of the individual location. Corporate Office guy who does not speak English very well tells me my reservation was no longer available because someone else rented it because they operate on a "first come, first served" basis. I asked "What is the point of a reservation then?" He did not know. Then he tried to transfer my call to the onsite Manager who did not answer. I had the original confirmation email and text so I went ahead and proceeded to the location in person. The door was locked, no one was there, I called the local number on the door and was again sent to Corporate Office who patched me through to the Manager who had their voicemail on. I left a message.

    I went ahead and went down the road to Extra Space Storage who was open, staffed, super friendly and accommodating, and rented to me on the spot at a great price and deal. Three hours later Public Storage finally returned my call. Too late. Go to Extra Space Storage. I had the same problem with the Public Storage location in Trenton years ago, they are just not a well-run company no matter the location.

    Do not rent from these crooks!!! They raised my rent from $69 to $107 in three months. Then up to $150 before I was there a year. I have left a message for a return call as to why three times and never received a call back. I will be searching for another facility real soon!!!

    I recently had an issue with the rates so I went to the office at Woodland Park N.J. and a gentleman named Sal helped me with the issue. He was very professional and understood what I was saying so he took care of the matter and I was very pleased with the outcome. I wish all the Public Storage employees be like this gentleman Sal.

    I really hope this helps someone. I will never use Public Storage, especially the one on McClean & Perring Pkwy. I was late paying for my storage unit and they cut your lock off and put their lock on. During that time whoever was authorized to go into the computer and get the code for their lock which is the property manager went into my unit and took what they wanted. All the things taken was my clothes that had price tags on them with the exception of all of my jeans. I wrote a letter to corporate before I found out exactly what was taken and I spoke with their regional manager who no help at all and talked to me as if I was lying on the phone with the property manager sitting with him whispering her lies. She’s the ** woman with burgundy hair who is very unprofessional and nasty.

    I am taking the proper procedures for theft because they’re supposed to have cameras/videos at all of the units. Please check your belongings thoroughly, especially if you may have paid your bill late and your lock was cut off by them. That property manager is a snake and the way my belongings were left, she obviously thought that she would not be caught but this is not over cause she took whatever she wanted. Again, pack your things tight, count everything and take pictures of everything you put in their units. After complaining, they went up on the rent. Good luck!!!

    Public Storage is a real scam artist corporation and their facilities are not anything close to civil or even tolerable. They're crooks. I'm specifically Speaking on The location facility in Las Vegas on Maryland Parkway And Desert Inn located by the Boulevard Mall. The district manager is so rude and disrespectful. He does not follow any of their proper policy procedures. He plays a lot of games with people's been property. Violates their rules and policies constantly. Then if you show any type of rebellions or do not agree with what he said for goal against that. He goes as far as terminating you unfairly. Terminate them out of their leasing contract and go as far as have them removed off the property because Keyboard not going to allow them to be falsely accused or being wrongly done with the injustice.

    I have a bin a coin with them for several years faithfully, but enough is enough. I'm going to stand up against them. In their own and in Justice, they are doing to customers. They have no formal weight or speaking to no corporate or any higher department. They can't show you out sooner. Stay here that you are trying to file a complaint. Or claim against them. They hang up. There's no real direct contact to HR or corporate to speak to. Any complaint that is made? They dismiss you without any further investigation or anything. They're breaking the civil rights and breaking constantly consumer rights and I had enough. I am trying to get some type of correspondence within currently because of the place that they put in. And no one reaches out to me or anything. They're crooks. Just a friendly advice. If you're planning to go with public storage, do not do it, please.

    My unit was broken into because the burglar bent the dead bolt slider... a lock was useless. He just lifted door & walked right in. Also there was a storm and it damaged the security gate... The franchisee didn't bother to get it fixed for several days. Public Storage is run like a kiosk... After you rent... you are on your own. No one is there most of time & phone calls are not returned. No customer service. If you have a problem... you are out of luck. Needless to say I no longer have a storage unit & I advise as many people as I can not to use Public Storage.

    I rent from one of the facilities. My issue when I first got my space it was slightly over 200.00. I am now paying 700.00 every month. I pay more than any other renter at this facility. I love the manager, but she has even said the company is overcharging me.

    Skip the line! No, SKIP PUBLIC STORAGE IN OAKBROOK TERRACE! After 3 months at public storage in Broadview I received a text that my storage fee would double. I called Oakbrook Terrace location, spoke with Janay who reserved a first month free $29 administration fee, total fee for the month $30. Well when I came to location everything changed. She charged me $32 first month+$29 administration fee total move in fee $61, since I was supposed to be out of Broadview location in 2 days I was forced to take it or be charged double and late fees by Broadview.

    I knew what she had just did, she lied and told me it was a transfer and she couldn't release me from Broadview's contract which is a lie as we had spoke prior, this is a new reservation and that each location is a separate entity therefore it couldn't be a transfer. She related to me that, "You will have to get Broadview to sign you off!" I had already signed off my autopay to Broadview online for the month of March. Remember they are independently owned and operated so I could see her thinking of ways to change my reservation to their advantage.

    Called Janay when I got home, no answer, called chatline, hung up on me, related I didn't respond, which is a lie, called corporate, no answer. I will be contacting attorney general office for false advertising and fraud. Ashliegh had even called me on way to location and told me what a deal I would be getting, a $30 movein fee. It appears business is bad and they are deceiving people. Shame on you Janay and public storage. I have left recordings to no avail. Make sure you turn on record on your phone and get everything in writing. I didn't get any of the discounts we spoke about and they are obvious printed advertisements. It makes me wonder if it's because of the color of my skin, everything changed when I showed up, KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!! I will be shopping another space, I don't have much to move.

    This company is charging high fees for making payments on line or in person. I feel this is a big rip off of customer. Customers should file complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I wouldn't advise anyone to use this company. In the near future I will pick wisely. This app won't allow me to submit review.

    My wife and I were moving and we needed space to store things for a while. We had so many negative experiences with other storage units. Then we met Tina at Public Storage on Stage Road. She helped alleviate all our troubles! Gave a full tour of facilities, gave us a great price but most of all she made my wife HAPPY!!! Thank you sooo much Tina! You have a customer for Life!!!

    The only reason why I am giving 5 stars is because of Guy, the manager on duty at the time of my fiasco. I recently had a reservation for a unit made through the PS call center. I booked based on the information they gave me, which turned out to be incorrect. Then when I went to sign documents online the rate and reservation had changed. When I called the call center they told me the rate was no longer available, also untrue, and would not escalate me to a manager to fix the issue. I drove over to the storage facility right as it was closing and Guy was leaving.

    After explaining my situation he quickly remedied it, gave me the promised rate, explained everything in detail and helped me finalize all the documentation. Guy was amazing. He was so kind and considerate and managed to calm me down in my frustrated and emotional state. He is definitely the best part of Public Storage. He went above and beyond. He works part time at the Aliso Viejo, Ca location and I am extremely thankful I had the pleasure to meet this wonderful human.

    Horrible company. Five feet of snow has blocked my unit for 4 weeks. Management has said it will be cleared that night 3 different times, but nothing has been done.

    Public Storage is going 24 hours for the ones in St. Louis. With units and a high crime rate and homeless people stealing and sleeping in storage units, I advise anyone who has a unit, I highly encourage you get rental insurance and don’t put nothing in it over 5000 dollars because the rise of units getting broken into is going to cause a high rate of insurance claims, so if you want stuff I advise moving locations.

    I just worked with Kelly and Eli, over some financial issues I questioned. They took the initiative to thoroughly review my comments and called me back the same day to advise me that they agreed with me and would be making the necessary adjustments. Rarely in today's world of Customer Service have I experienced this level of open mindedness and fairness in evaluating a situation. Both Kelly & Eli, should be recognized as outstanding examples of working with the customer to achieve a fair resolution for all and are a credit to the Public Storage Corporation.

    My items come up missing and PS won’t let you see the video tape. They lie and say there are cameras all over the building and that’s a lie. Then when something happens they say no the cameras are on the corners of the building and not down every hallway. Not all over the building like they lie and say are say that someone is watching the cameras 24-7. They tell you what you want to hear but know that it is all lies. Public Storage is a joke.

    Long story short, didn't rent from them, rented from Simply Self Storage, they changed hands. I've rented from many different facilities over the years, this is the worst. A good employee never stays. A good employee is there to listen to, understand your needs, be helpful. That's Jae. She's sweet, a pleasure to talk with and professional. Here we go again, wondering if she's gone. I went, this is 3rd day to pay my rent, nobody in the office. They have NO pymt box at Tussing Rd facility but they do at the one on Gender Rd. This place has caused me so much stress, anxiety, time, gas. They made me buy a lock that I can't use again anywhere else, I should be able to turn it in for a refund when I move out, but no, can't.

    When they raise your rent, it's not just a little, it's NOT just a hop, skip. it's a big jump higher. Except for Jae, well, as I said nobody there to pay past couple days. These people are employees, there to do a job and get paid, but they can see how Public Storage treats OR mistreats their customers. I try to pay but can't because nobody's in the office and there's no mail/pymt box to leave pymt in. Then they blow up your phones inbox with text messages hounding you for pymt. I rate Jae highly 5 star, the Public Storage I rate BAD 0. Story not so short.

    This place is the biggest rip off! It has been a nightmare from start! Started I needed a 24 hr access and climate controlled 10x10 so I got wrong size storage had pay a transfer fee and then gave me one without climate controlled. I have to pay transfer fee because they messed up again. So I go to my unit and I can't get in. I PD for 24 hr access. So had to get transferred to completely different location. Ok they don't have climate controlled units. At this point I've done gave 5 transfer fees because they don't do job and listen to customer so the last one was a 5x10 none climate controlled. Gave me all info. Got text on info so I move in it!! Well now all my messages on that says error and I'm not even in system and my stuff is in a unit that don't show. I even have now can't get to my stuff and want to charge me a full month again to get in!!! Crazy.

    I don't how to go about this situation. I was renting a storage from the Audelia Location and on January 26, 2026 I wasn't able to get there to pay my bill due to bad weather in Dallas, Tx my personal items was sold on January 28th. I called and did not get help from the staff. A manager named Rose called me back and said she would help but no answer from her either. I called numbers they gave me, left message after and no return call. I'm homeless due to an car accident. I have no transportation. Everything in my storage was personal. Nothing no one could make money off.

    My deceased father and brother memories I've lost because the District Manager Marcus said he would help me. No more info from him. My children pictures and grandchildren pictures and memories are gone. I don't know how to go on with my things nor a chance to save my memories. I even told everyone I spoke to I offer to buy my items back and they all lied to these people that I spoke of have no heart. Sometimes we as people have to step outside of ourselves to help others. But this company has no human decency. I'm in my 50's. I was taught sometimes it's not always about a job. I just want to die at this point.

    This company has increased their price so much that I can no longer afford them. Three months ago when they raised it to $200 I complained and I said, "Your rates are too high," because they asked me how they were doing. Well I guess their answer was to raise my rent another $40. They're ridiculously high priced when you can go somewhere else for half the price. Remember I moved in paying $110 18 months ago and now my rent is now $240. Is that stupid or what? They don't seem to grasp the whole concept that people are hurting financially right now. They don't care. They're greedy and I would warn you dealing with them will only cost you more than double quicker than you can say boo.

    I had a very heartbreaking and frustrating experience with the Public Storage on Belair Road in Nottingham, MD, and people deserve to know how this location handles situations. This happened January 26th–27th. I was not refusing to pay my bill. I explained there was a card/system issue and told them clearly I would have the money first thing the morning of January 27th — which I did. I had $555 ready and begged the male employee to hold the buyer off just until the morning. That was only a matter of hours. The young lady named Chris was the only person who showed any willingness to help, and I appreciate her for at least listening. But the other staff member I dealt with showed no compassion, no flexibility, and no understanding even though I was trying to fix the problem.

    What makes this worse is they later claimed I didn’t communicate, which is not true. I left several messages that same day and they did not answer the phone. I was actively trying to reach them and resolve everything. My belongings were still sold — and from what I understand, for much less than what I owed and far less than what my personal items were worth. I was also told they would contact the buyer so I could try to buy my things back, but I was never contacted. No follow-up. No effort. No remorse.

    Storage units hold people’s personal lives and memories, not just objects. A few hours of understanding could have prevented all of this. Instead, I felt dismissed, unheard, and treated like I didn’t matter. Except for Chris, the experience was cold and unprofessional. Based on how this was handled, I would not recommend this location.

    Public Storage purchased my previous storage facility (Storage Choice), where I had been a happy, long-term customer for years. Since the buyout, my rent has increased roughly every six months. I am now paying over $300 for a 10×10 unit, which is unreasonable. Public Storage’s business model seems to rely on the assumption that customers will tolerate excessive price increases rather than deal with the inconvenience of moving their belongings. There is no sense of customer loyalty. When my rent was recently raised to $357 per month and I objected, their solution was to “freeze” my rate at $300 for six months — as if that were a favor. This company prioritizes profit over fair treatment of long-term customers. My family currently has three units with Public Storage, and we will be moving all of them to a locally owned storage facility that actually values its customers.

    Public Storage bought out Storage Now. Rates were great until they bought them out. Been renting for about 15 yrs. They went up 30.00. I complain. They said they will give discount of 8.00 dollars for 6 months. 😑

    Mr. Stephon Saul at the Pierce rd. Waldorf location is heaven sent! I called him about my unit that was auctioned off. I explained about my important belongings (My late daughter's things). He understood and had compassion. He was able to coordinate me retrieving my things. He spoke very well and was transparent and honest about my situation. What I will say we need more people like him in retail. Thank you again Stephon for being you and putting on for the brand.

    I'm amazed by how bad public storage service is. Here are the reasons.

    1. The contract itself is horrible and overpriced. No refund and the insurance is insanely expensive and you have to pay for your own lock.
    2. Access is inconsistent and unreliable.
    3. Customer service system they've built is very mediocre. The site managers are just there as cheerleaders but never actually do anything.
    4. Online Customer service is non-existent.

    5. You can't do any kind of refund or any kind of complaint ticket. You are basically on your own.

    I decided to go with a different storage company that allows for afterhours ability to access your facility that has "Extra" benefits unlike this "public bathroom" type of service. I never got to use my space because their process is so convoluted and the online system they have, give you ZERO option for a refund or even find someone who can help you work through it.

    I do not like to pay online or set up reoccurring automatic payments. Very frustrating. Almost 5 times out of 10 when I go in to make my payment in person, there’s nobody there. Mind you opening hours are 9 to 6.

    Customer service is terrible. They charged me $300 for a unit that didn't even work. It was a 16x8 and they claimed it to be a 10x20 and they never had anyone at the front desk. They wanted me to show them my ID to verify for the code but nobody was there. Business hours were open but nobody was there. I got locked out of the gate. The front code never worked, had to have some random person let me in was the only way to enter because nobody else is going to let me in, sat outside the gate for about 2 hours, left about 10 voicemails to the management, no response, with my 71-year-old neighbor lady patiently waiting for me, called like 10 different numbers on customer service to try to get the situation figured out with the code and it never worked, had me come back the next day. Terrible service all around. Got a refund right away, took my truck out of there right away, would not recommend going here to anybody ever!

    The facility at 9191 County Rd 2 Brighton, CO 80603 increased our rates by $75/month with no notice. No letter, no email, no phone call. I called the facility to ask why the increase and even more so why we were not notified. **'s response was that she would have to review my account and would get back to me. It has been over a week now with no follow-up. I find this highly inconsiderate and unprofessional of a business. Ever since Public Storage took over, this place has been nothing but a headache. I can not wait to get out from under them and their sneaky business practices.

    I rented a space at the 180th location in Kent, Washington, and rented it for a couple of months when I removed my boxes out of the rental space I went over by a couple of days. I placed a call to speak with someone and I spoke with Annaleah and informed her of what the cause of my delay in getting my boxes out and I feel that I should not have to pay for the full months rent.

    Annaleah was very understanding and informed me that it is not something that she is able to make a decision on as far as waiving my months rent as technically if I go into the new month, I am due to make my full months payment. She informed me that she will contact the district manager, and in a matter of minutes, they both decided that they were going to waive my one months rent. I will definitely go back to this place and rent again. Should I have a need to do that in the future. The place is clean, the place is safe and the staff they’re wonderful.     I'm with a few others on this. I was told a certain price because I became unemployed and not able to pay full amount. I was given a lower payment amount. They said they sent out letters on rent increases, but I've never gotten them. I have received them at other homes I've lived. Now my unit is already on lien and set for auction this month when I made a small payment.

    They increased the rent 30% two months after my "internet price", then recently increased ANOTHER 35%!!!! Almost 65% rent increase in a year? These people are crooks. Poorly maintained units, staff are compliant in the procedure of robbing you. On top of that, the app quit working right after offering 24/7 access for ANOTHER $30/MONTH!!! I'm moving. This place is an absolute rip-off.

    Before I committed in Renting my unit at the Salem NW facility, I specifically asked when to expect any rent increases. She (will omit name for time being) told me flat out usually 6mo's. Well, guess they trained her to lie!! Been in unit only 3 months and bang $60.00 increase per month. From $165/mo to $225.00 per month! I'm retired and on a fixed income, so disappointed how they are price gouging people!!

    This has got to be one of the worst companies in the United States! In addition to the reported frequent rent increases and terrible customer service, I have been locked out of my storage space since the end of October. It's already Jan 1st, 2026.. I'm still paying rent, but the door has been off track for over two months, because someone tried to break in. I have heard of similar reports in nearby units where customers are locked out of their own belongings. I'm insisting they refund me for all the days they've not fixed my door. I've got my lawyer involved. I'm planning to write a police report.

    Customer service, property management, and other Public Storage staff members are aware of my issue. I've been told written reports are recorded. Yet nothing is done! To top it off, many times I've tried to come into the office of my location during business hours, only to find that no one is in the office. So I had to seek help at the PS location down the street, which fortunately has been somewhat helpful and very polite and professional. But the bottom line... the door is still off track and I cannot get to my belongings! No wonder Public Storage has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau!!

    Since these people leave when they want out the office and unprofessional let me just write the review here to let people know BEWAAAAARE.. There's something going on here and I caught on to it. Police report already been done but my brother seem scare to move forward so I will help with this. He might be scare but I don't let no one get away with this..

    He had brand new JORDANS in the storage in the corner of his storage and they know this. Someone is getting these thugs that I see every time we pull up somebody walking around looking suspicious setting up to steal and if not whoever the employees is somebody else could be stealing... We know these shoes didn't vanish in this air. I know it's a inside job.

    But little that you know you will be ask to run cameras....so I'm giving a heads up now for you...you know who you are. I hope you don't come up with your excuses, "Oh cameras don't work blah blah blah.." Oh and we went to get the stuff out the storage. A RATTTTT with rat droplets everywhere. WE GOT PICS. PICS DON'T LIE LIKE THE CAMERAS DON'T LIE NEITHER. I'm so glad to be out that state... Some people think they smart but just know there's always somebody smarter. We rent from Public Storage in South Florida. This was the best facility.. They was always in office and they was not ghetto. This how I know it's thugs. Who else stealing some Jordans.

    I never write reviews but I felt compelled to write one. They false advertise when it comes to the measurements of the storage units. And when I got to to the unit it bring my items in the unit, the door was broken. They typically are unresponsive since there are no on site managers to assist. Last time I was at the unit, all doors were locked and they had changed the code and did not update me. We had to wait for 45 minutes. I had spoken with Aaron (good guy) and he had sent requests for his managers to call. One called but I was with a client and she offered to call me back. She never did then I sent an email on to Dan although during the holiday weeks this year, no response.

    This company is appalling, and takes advantage of people with predatory practices. I've had a unit since 2020, expecting to have a secure space to store my items that I would not have access to for a while. Shortly thereafter, my unit was broken into. The outside lighting was not working. They supplied a new lock, the least they could do for not keeping my property safe, Originally I was paying $125 per month for a 10 x 20 space, no temperature control and not secure obviously. Over time, they kept raising the rates. Being out of the area, I could not easily move elsewhere, which would also incur huge costs. Sometimes the rates jumped $50 per month, or more.

    The last straw was when I was paying $492 per month, and noticed a larger unit was renting for only $214 per month. I called to request the same rate, out of fairness. Why should someone else get a rate almost 1/3 what I was paying, and I was a longtime customer? They actually informed me that next month, my rate was to go up $100 PER MONTH! That would be $600 per month! I asked to have my current rate, $492 lowered, why should I pay $600 while a new person pays $214? I was appalled when they came back and said my reduced rate was accepted. My "customer appreciation" discount would "lower" my rate to $492 (what I am paying now). I told them that is not a lower rate, they cannot jack up the price a whopping $100 and expect me to be happy it was lowered to the overpriced amount I've already been paying.

    They claimed "their system" did not allow any other "discounts". I informed them their company was run by people, not a system, and they absolutely had the capacity to make a realistic adjustment instead of that worthless attempt they tried to call a discount. They tried to explain that they only raise rates as needed, due to "market value" and my contract allows rate increases that are not capped. I do not understand how it is legal to rip people off like this. I will be contacting an actual agency that protects consumers rather than a for profit that collects reviews for the companies so they can bury them.

    I have had my unit for three years, and it has always been 178 a month. In the last year it has gone from 178, to 220, and they are now telling me it's going up to 288. I will be moving my stuff out. Place used to be good. Half the time no one is there, and you can't get ahold of anyone.

    If you plan on leaving goods in Public Storage beware of their bait and switch pricing scams. They will lure you in with attractive rates and then bang your with huge price increase twice a year. They’ll do this while offering “promotional” rates online for the same size unit you rent that are 75% lower. Their solution - you can get this rate if you move your stuff to a new unit - which is exactly the same as the unit I’m in. It makes no sense other than to screw the customer because they know you can’t easily move your belongings. They are a rip off.

    Horrible. It is almost impossible to reach a human if you need help. If you try the chat box the question options are too limited to be of help, and there is no option to transfer to a human if your question is anything other than the options offered. I tried the help line a number of times, but the message I received was that due to the high volume of calls the wait time was long and to call back later. No option to hold. Horrible experience and I finally cancelled my reservation (which was difficult to do for the same reasons). NOW it has been 2 weeks since I posted the previous commentary. Someone called me after the review and told me they would look into my issues and get back to me. I guess this was a lie because no one has. However, did get 2 credits for .69 each (???) and one for around 20.00 (???). Hundreds less than what they owe me. Horrible, horrible company!

    The people who work at the storage units are great. But the company is not. I was lied to. I was told that if I removed all my furniture out of the storage by the middle of the month that I would get a refund for the end of the month the two weeks that I was not using the storage. And when I cleaned out my storage and I asked them about my 2 week refund. I was told I would not get a refund. Also their ads are misleading. The ad says a 10x10 goes for $80. I have been paying $380 for I don't know how long now. I am a senior citizen and every penny that I have to spend comes out of my check which now I have to close my storage because I cannot afford it because my social security check has been cut.

    Had storage for 7 years. Upon retrieval of my memories, the storage lock was cut and my storage was ransacked. Missing items. Staff cut lock in April 25..charged me 60.00 for a lock that was never put on. Police reported this was a frequency at public storages. Beware. My memories were either shattered, indices to be glued if lucky..my babies photos, first tooth, haircut etc. never to be seen again. I paid on time for 7 years except for 3 late payments. I paid for security that was never given. Public Storage has tried to pass the buck and deny any entry. The cops were there and saw different!!!!

    I would definitely find another storage place. I rented from them 3 months ago. I got a large unit and a couple days later I got a smaller unit. When I went to load all my stuff in the smaller unit I got there to find a lock on it so I had to go to the office and have them remove the lock. Thankfully I was there doing business hours so I was able to get the lock taken off. If I came later I would have been stuck with a truckload of stuff and nothing to put it in. The door wouldn't open so she told me she was going to come over that evening and spray it. I went back the next day with another truckload and the door still wouldn't open so I had to go back to the office to have her spray the door and again thankfully somebody was there because I'm unable to open that door by myself before it was sprayed.

    I now need to get my belongings out of there, only out of the smaller storage unit but I can't get it out until January 2nd. They're going to charge me a whole month's rent for 2 days. They have no grace period and are not even willing to work with me. The gate doesn't open half the time using the app. If you download the app you're supposed to be able to open the gate using your phone instead of having to type in the 50 million digit that they gave you for the keypad. I've told them on multiple occasions that the gate is not opening using the app and nothing has been done about it. I haven't even gotten a response from them about that. After I get my smaller storage unit completely emptied and my house set up I will be emptying the larger unit and moving my belongings to someplace else. I would never rent from them again.

    I call Public Storage on three different occasion. The first rep I spoke to was Miss Fatima, which was 12 725. She came to tell me I need to speak to collection department because she couldn’t help me. I spoke to Miss K in the collection department. She can’t help me neither. She told me to go back to customer service. I spoke with Frederick and customer service to ask for my voice recording since I did not approve for them to use my credit card and I would like to hear my voice telling me to use that credit card. No one was help. They say they cannot help me.

    I cannot listen to it even though it’s my account and if I have a problem to call my bank and take it up with them, which is very bad service When you have a problem and no one can solve the problem, but they’re willing to take your money at the end of the day. If you’re recording and you show that it was me why can’t I listen to the voice recorder cause that is what I’m telling you I have a problem with and where did you get my credit card info?

    This has got to be he worst storage facility ever. I have rented throughout the U.S. on numerous occasions. They NEVER answer their phone. It ALWAYS goes to voice mail which NO ONE EVER returns. Their automated service will NOT connect you to a live person. After less than 6 months at their Poplar Level facility, I will be moving out. EVERY month... there has been issues where I have had to contact them... to NO avail. I have been charged different amounts every month, when I only agreed to one amount for 6 months. It's always a different excuse from them on why I was over charged. No one will actually help you and you will never get money back from them. This last time... A manager told me that they would credit my bill but not return the money. So in other words, I am being forced to stay with them another month or more. No one is ever in the office.

    Finally a woman was in the office the other day. I went in and spoke with her and of course it was not her fault that the calls were not returned. She stated, different people were in and out of there, most not doing their jobs. I am in my 60's and every month there has been issues, mostly money discrepancies but also insurance issues as well as the gate being broken half the time. I will be losing another 21.00 at the end of this month but I WILL be relocating my wares. I would NOT refer this company to any one. It is the worst of the worst.

    When I first rented these spaces back in august, I specifically asked, how long the prices were gonna be good for. I was told by the agent on the phone that I rented the units through online that as long as I had the units there wouldn't be a price increase. Now three months into the contract One went up by twenty four dollars, and the other one went up by twenty seven dollars.That is just plain old wrong, especially when I asked specifically if there was going to be any price increases.

    I would like to understand why a Fortune 500 company (Public Storage) has an absurd payment due date policy set for the 1st of each month and are not willing to work with customers who need a different payment date? What is the big deal?     I paid Public Storage on the 29th of the month in full. The rent is due on the 1st. After the 1st my account showed a $15.00 charge due immediately. No one was ever in the office and I tried numerous times to call them. I tried to call corporate offices. There is no number to call to actually talk to someone. Left a second message on the local line letting them know I had called corporate and one way or another I was going to find a live person to talk to. They called me back. I told the guy about the charge. He said he did not see it on his computer so not to worry about it

    I don't believe him. He will have to prove it. I have screenshot of my online payment receipt and the fraudulent charge. I want explanations but there is no one so far to talk to. My hope is that either I find someone to talk to or corporate sees this and calls. If not I will continue to search for that corporate entity that is hiding behind his franchisees.

    PUBLIC STORAGE IS HORRIBLE. BUYER BEWARE. THEY WILL RAISE YOUR MONTHLY RENT BY $50 OR MORE PER MONTH AFTER JUST 3 MONTHS. I began renting in March 2025 for $149/month, then they raised it to $195 in August, a mere 5 months later, and now they just raised it again to $249, an 82% increase in just 8 months time. terrible terrible business. Keep searching. Plus, they never even have carts available when you get there and you have to runaround the whole damn facility looking for them. Huge Huge rip off.. Look elsewhere is my advice.

    The service at Public Storage is getting worse. They charge a non-refundable administration fee even if you cancel before moving in, which makes no sense. I wouldn’t recommend this company. Also, be careful when booking online—they can charge you extra fees without clearly informing you. In addition, this company does not prorate rent after you move out. They charge for the entire month on the first day, and even if you move out on the second day, you still have to pay the full month’s rate.

    On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I ended up trapped inside Public Storage in Northport while I was obtaining some belongings from my storage unit. The gate sign upon exit states to text a number to open the gate after hours. This did not work at all!! The sign also says to download the Public Storage app. This assumes one has their account log in information (sign in and password) on their person. It, also, assumes one has a smart phone with them, the battery is charged, and they are adept at using bluetooth, downloading apps, and using apps, etc.

    Holding customers hostage in order to get them to pay an extra $30 to exit Public Storage premises is not a good business plan!!!! It is extortion in my opinion and places customers at risk! It was cold, I had no access to the bathroom, health medication, none of the 800 numbers I found worked as they provided no remedy to exit the premises nor a live person to assist. The 800# menu selection options send customers on an endless loop with no way of obtaining assistance after 9pm. Public Storage designed the phone menu to purposely reduce contact with customers needing assistance but they take our money every month without providing any real service.

    I was trapped inside Public Storage for over TWO HOURS on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving in the cold. I had people waiting on me and other things that needed to get done before the holiday. Spending two hours trapped inside Public Storage was not part of the plan. This is a horrific way to treat customers and force them to pay $30 extra a month just to exit storage after 9pm. I do not need 24/7 access. I just lost track of time while looking for something I needed for the Holiday. This should not happen to anyone. What if I needed my asthma medication or access to diabetes medicine during this time I was trapped???

    Additionally, the bluetooth on my phone connected to the stand alone keypad upon exit but continued to indicate bluetooth was locked even though I made payment of the $30 and the 24/7 access showed a green light. I, finally, had to call the police for assistance. They also walked over to see the front door 800# which I could not see or access from the exit gate area. I tried that number as well to no avail. The app also does not tell you whether to enter your gate code on the stand alone keypad or enter your gate code on your phone or whether or not to press * first on the phone. It only states to press the # key when done. Nothing worked to open the gate.

    Finally, for no apparent reason the gate opened when for umpteenth time I entered my code in the stand alone key pad. Both the police and I have no answers for the why it suddenly decided to work. The only thing different I did was reboot my phone but I do not think that had anything to do with it. I think their was a timed delay between the extortion payment of $30 and Public Storage communicating access to the keypad even though the app on my phone indicated I had 24/7 access. There needs to be clarification in the instructions in using the app.

    Public storage needs a workable, manual back up system for people to exit the premises after hours. These situations are going to continue to happen. Not everyone has a smart phone. There are many elderly customers that may not know how to do any of this. This was a serious situation and could have resulted in a medical emergency with no access or exit!!! The police told me that this has happened at this premises before. Public storage already overcharges people and routinely does exorbitant rate hikes. It is extortion in my opinion to hold people hostage inside the premises in order to get extra $30 more dollars a month placing people at risk.

    Public Storage this is a horrific and bad way to treat customers. You are placing your customers in jeopardy by failing to provide a manual back up plan to exit the premises after 9pm. This situation needs to be addressed and resolved promptly by Public Storage. This was a horrendous experience and put my health in jeopardy.

    This company is an absolute disgrace. My fault for not reading all of the reviews prior. There is a reason they get 1 out of 5 stars. Twice I went to my storage building and the security doors to get in were broke so I couldn't get in. For what they charge absolutely unacceptable. I haven't even been renting for a year and my rent has increased upon increased. Started at $100 a month and 7 months later they want to charge $175. Their pathetic excuse is that they don't have set prices (that is to avoid lawsuits due to all their increases) and they charge according to market which is a flat out blatant lie. They are 100% scammers! RUN!!!!

    I moved out of my storage unit with a zero balance and have a receipt to prove it. Apparently my ex husband was uncooperative with Public Storage, so they reopened my account to charge me for his unit even though I had no keys or access. He wouldn't pay so they're going to ruin my credit unless I pay what he owed them. I have no legal responsibility to pay it, but they're going to ruin me anyway. If you rent an apartment and move out halfway through the month do you pay for the full month? No. But these people feel that they should get paid for the whole month. I'm barely making it as it is.     Public Storage raised my unit from 165 to 408 in one year. That is a 147 percent increase. Their late fees are 65, every little thing is a fee, and they change the price whenever they want with a one month notice. People should avoid doing business with companies that treat customers like this.

    I moved in with a rate of $28 and two months later my rent was doubled to $60. Yes we know they can raise your rent but baiting customers just to raise the rent in two months is such a scam. People spend time and money to move their things in and then you double the rent because you know it is more likely people will stay instead of packing up everything and moving it again to another place. I will work on finding an entity to regulate storage units. They say market rent, oh yeah where is the sheet that gives the rent limit? If there is none, you can charge me 20,000 dollars next month. Do you think this is right? As a business if you deceive customers you will eventually lose customers and your business.     I called customer service on Nov 10, 2025 and explained to them that California has a government shut down and not able to pay rent because there has been no pay check for me since Oct 1. The customer service guy at Public Storage told me there is a program for that and put in a claim information. Told me to wait 48 to 72 hours and someone will contact me about a credit on my account so now it has been 48 hours. I have called again and the same information was told 2 me again, to wait for a call. Now I get a call from my unit worker asking for the full amount because my storage have went past due and she told me they don't honor government shut down help. This information needs to go to corporate because false info was told to me and honor my request because of customer service given out wrong information. We are in a nation crisis. Please help.

Then PS kept charging me and put me into collections for $900.. They called me 8/2. I told them it was empty. I forgot to take the lock off. I told her to cut it that it was empty but I was in Florida and couldn’t get back it was a mistake.. Now they are throwing me into collections!! Terrible customer service..     This is the worse place I’ve rented. The unit was full of spiders and roaches. I cleaned it out. Then 3 months later I moved out and cleaned the unit. I told the manager, he told me to keep the lock I was charged for. 2 weeks later I get notices to pay rent. I called, never got answer, then kept calling leaving messages. He finally called me back, said he thought lock was on door so I wasn’t moved out. I reminded him I had the lock. He said he would take care of it? Then got a charge of 35 dollars for what??? Couldn’t be for cleaning? I cleaned the filthy thing when I moved in and moved out. They just add random charges. Stay away from this place

    Serious Consumer Warning: deserves -1000 Stars. Specifically the staff. I am submitting this review to document my experience with Public Storage located in Inglewood, California, where I rented a unit that resulted in serious negligence, loss of property, and unacceptable customer service. Despite maintaining timely payments and following all procedures, I later discovered that my storage unit was entered and my property was stolen under circumstances that Public Storage has failed to properly investigate or take accountability for. I submitted a formal report and claim through their third-party administrator, Sedgwick, and through my insurance carrier USAA, yet both have continued to delay or deflect responsibility without providing resolution or compensation.

    To date, Public Storage has not provided any verifiable proof of internal investigation, surveillance review, or employee accountability. When I contacted management at the Inglewood location, I was met with evasive responses and unprofessional behavior. Requests for incident documentation, access logs, and camera footage were ignored — even though under California Civil Code § 1936 and § 1950.5, customers have a right to documentation related to their leased property and any alleged breach or loss.

    The value of my missing property totals several thousand dollars, including irreplaceable personal and professional items. I have repeatedly requested preservation of evidence and official records (entry logs, surveillance footage, and insurance correspondence) but have received no cooperation from Public Storage or their claims partner Sedgwick.

    This experience has caused material, financial, and emotional harm, and reflects gross negligence and bad faith business practices. Public Storage cannot claim to offer “safe, secure storage” while failing to protect tenants’ property or respond transparently to theft reports. I am filing this complaint publicly and through formal consumer protection channels, including the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau. Until Public Storage provides full accountability and restitution, I strongly advise consumers to avoid this location and company entirely.

    Public Storage is horrible! I will never use them again. I put my things in their storage because my home flooded from Hurricane Helene. The first six months that I paid on time was gravy. But when I ran into financial issues they were NOT accommodating AT ALL! They would not give me a payment arrangement AT ALL! They said that you have to be with them for one year! Public Storage!!!! We had just had a major Hurricane and they cared less …. It’s all about their money.

    I explained to them about my situation with the Hurricane Helene and that FEMA hadn’t sent me money for my housing expenses since April. Nonetheless they didn’t care or accommodate me. After the fifth of the month they put a lock on your storage. Then by the end of the month if unpaid they begin threatening to auction your things off if unpaid by the next month. They have rats in their storages that left feces over my things! They ate through my boxes and that drunk everything that I put in there and they also ate my pills (that I probably shouldn’t have put in there, my fault).

    When I took my things out of there it was rat feces on the ground and some of my things. On October 31st I called and told them that I had vacated my storage and they still sent me an invoice stating that I had an unpaid balance! They disputed it and I didn’t have to pay but it’s just the principality. Why would you still bill someone a balance? I also wonder if I would’ve still had my things in there on the first and moved the second would they require payment for the entire month? I wouldn’t doubt it at all! The Company is money hungry! It’s a bad storage company and I wouldn’t put my dog things in there and I would NEVER RECOMMEND THEM! The only good thing was that I dealt with a manager named Jerry (very nice man) but he couldn’t accommodate me because of company policies and procedures! It’s up to you but I would not use them.

    Location: Public Storage, Faison Road – Mount Pleasant, SC. Public Storage needs to rethink its rental and sign-up process. The website feels designed more for sales than for customer ease, making it unnecessarily difficult to move from browsing or reserving to actually completing a contract. That frustration is what led to my initial call with a customer service representative.

    The first representative claimed that employees were not permitted to work past 6 p.m., which seemed doubtful since I was simply trying to sign the contract close to closing time due to the website issues. Whether or not that statement was true, it left me questioning the employee’s honesty and judgment — both of which are critical in customer-facing roles. Fortunately, a second representative handled everything professionally, resolved the situation quickly, and is the only reason I ultimately chose to complete the rental with Public Storage. Five stars for the employee who earned the business; zero stars for the one who was not present when we arrived at 5:55 p.m.

    We have had a good history used their. We have used many facilities and attended many online auctions for many years. We have 2 really recent bad experiences that have ended our business with them completely, both with the online auctions. Very shady business practices and multiple locations over the last 8 or so years during my military tenure, but the last two auctions were the worst. One was in Arkansas, we won a large 25 foot unit for 2600 dollars, showed up (unusual 24 hours later???) the next day as agreed and the location manager took our money. That should have been a done deal, but as he was logging in with my money, the owner of the unit was calling and freaking out on the phone- long story short he allowed her to show up about 15 minutes making me wait to just give me back my money.

    2nd, was a couple months ago, in Kansas, A facility had a unit I followed for about a year or more that I won- Every box was empty! I spent over 2K on a staged unit- and the manager made up 3 different stories as to what happened because the unit showed up 2 months in a row- then said the month prior it was relisted because some kid ran through the facility and tore of the lock auction tag. No person would pay over 300 a month to store empty boxes for over a year even. I spoke with the manager about renting the unit, and was supposed to get a call back and they never called- so I just left the unit as is. After, they banned me! Did me a favor.

    Multiple locations, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas all have staged units at different facilities, some that worked with other auction companies like mine that gave me a heads up. Very shady and we will never do business with them again. They have had help load units with junk from multiple units, then face good stuff and neat boxes in the front, entered units after auctions won, and then these 2 incidents. Bad for business!

    I emptied the warehouse to put away different materials and went to get the material to put in, and surprisingly, I found my account closed. The pad screen no longer recognizes the access code. I called for information, and the answer was this: "It's contractual. If the manager sees a storage unit without locks, the contract is terminated." No warning of closure, a phone call, a text, nothing? Now they left me on the road with my van full of stuff, and I have to go around looking for another storage unit to rent. The month was paid with 10 days left on the contract, and there's no refund for the unused days, but they can rent the storage unit again. Can you tell me if this is a good service?

    I recently left some things outside my storage unit ** in East Avenue, Rochester, NY. I communicated with Kayla, the manager, that I needed a dumpster, I'm a disabled military USAF veteran. I took my lock and my unit was clean and empty. Some things were left downstairs on the first floor. Kayla moved my few garbage -wanting things back in my unit and put a new lock on. This is now a matter of legal principles and indicative of the poor customer service I have repeatedly gotten which included the elevator not working for weeks several times. I even offered to pay Kayla to remove the few things there, but she told me 'her dumpster is full'. I'm frustrated and will resolve this matter to my satisfaction legally and will not be treated in this manner.

    Let me first say I’ve rented climate controlled facilities in multiple states over last 15-20 years. Never had my belongings infested with roaches and ants and ruined. The New Port Richie, Fla facility where “Bobby” was working on past Saturday was appalling. After reporting and physically showing “Bobby the conditions of our unit “Snyders” during move out, he was of no help… hesitated to give was regional or district manager contact information-which was invalid-said he’d email and they would contact me after leaving my number, yet no one has reached out and they still charged us their crazy fee of $250.00 for a 10x10 -no where near climate controlled and half of all my belongings needed to be thrown out…

    Don’t think the insurance we took out will cover you as they excluded “vermin”- There were at least 1-2 other people while we were there on Saturday past, not moving in or out, but customer complaints about ants and roaches in same facing back row of storage units. It cost me extra day of Uhaul renting in addition to losses of over 2k of personal property as we had to “fog” the inside of Uhaul and leave it sit before unload of items that are still in a garage being sorted through and exposed to health and hygiene risks, which will undoubtedly result in more lost personal items.

    Amazing that this happened and absolutely no refund, anyone reaching out to customer or any concerns about this deplorable situation. I rented sane unit from Spring Storage in Spring, Texas for 8 years, never had any issues whatsoever-public storage-shame on you for taking my money for almost 3 years while I was overseas working and protecting our country and you literally ruined many dear personal belongings. Your CEO should know of this and your District or Regional manager held responsible to take care of the customer.

    I used their online tool to create a reservation for a unit, starting at the end of the month. After visiting the facility and inspecting the unit. I thought I was confirming my reservation by providing to the salesperson all of my info and payment info, only to find that they started the rental today, 27 days early. They had no idea how to fix it and gave me a number to the district manager (no response). Called the 800 number and could only get through to someone that could do anything after choosing the "new rental" option and getting transferred from there (only answered on the second attempt). However, this person also could not fix the problem. They offered a refund of what I paid today, but could not tell me how much or when my next payment would be due, or if the "second month free" would still apply. I decided that it would be easier to just close the account, get a full refund, and look for storage elsewhere.

    After nearly two years with Public Storage, I stopped auto-pay on Sept 30 and was vacated by Oct 1st. Now I'm receiving calls on Oct 2nd, trying to *strong-arm* me into paying a full month's rent for an empty storage bin. After speaking with two people (names coming soon), it's clear they have been trained to mercilessly defend their stance and take your money. There is zero rhyme or reason, and the lack of compassion is disgusting. "If you don't pay, we're sending it to collections..."

    They want to squeeze you for every last dollar, even if it means paying $154 for an empty storage bin you are no longer using as of the first of the month. Besides that, a good "deal" gets you in the door, and then it's price increase after price increase. Storage is dusty and has spiders. Short hours and lousy gate/elevator access.

    To anyone thinking about using a storage facility managed by Public Storage PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS CAREFULLY BEFORE! I was told by customer service that prices would not increase more than 8% a year; but after 4 months my storage unit went up in price by 54 dollars (a 33% increase) without there really being a reason for that. I would not go with them anymore at all. On top of the price hike, the floor I had my unit on smelled of dead mice or rats. It was that cheesy really bad smell that was in there for the 6 months I rented; it never went away. The opening times are inconvenient for someone who works all day. In short: look for a better and serious company; the only nice thing I can say is that the toilet was clean and that the guys working there were nice overall. (I used the one at Alaskan Way in Seattle).

    I will never use Public Storage EVER AGAIN!!! I activated account to use a 10*15 climate controlled storage on September 22nd and canceled on 23rd. By Public Storage customer service I was told that I would receive a "full refund except $29 application fee" because the agent told me wrong it was my fault! The second agent told me that the first agent told me wrong and would not refund me... It was all in the notes that I would get the refund. The total cost was $170.00, I never stepped foot on Public storage property. This was all done over the phone. A week later I was told that the refund was denied because it was canceled on the 23rd instead of the 22nd (by the way, it was after work hours) and Good luck trying to get into contact with anyone working at any location during work hours, you will only get customer service!

    Total ripoff company. Be warned to never rent from Public Storage. After you have your things there for a couple of months they raise the rent by 50%. When you're hundreds of miles away it's too expensive to travel just to move your things. You'd have to rent another truck and have people just to move to another storage facility. I wish I had known something like that could happen, it never entered my mind.

The pricing is really high and they tend to raise the rates every other month. I signed a contract for 206 a month a year and a half ago and every other month they raise the prices to 260 or more.     They are bunch of scammers. First off, they are known to raise the fee without notice so you dont even get an option whether you wanna keep the unit. You just have to keep an eye on it. If you have an automatic payment and you don’t pay attention. You’re practically getting raised every 3 months. And when you do try to call it's nearly impossible to get a hold of a live person. I had to disguise and pretend I'm opening a unit just to speak with someone. And when I finally spoke to a representative, I gave them notice that I wanna close my account due to numbers of unpleasing experiences with the company. I gave them 1 1/2 month notice and paid my last bill as instructed over the phone. A month after I gave them notice that notice and I'm due to move out in 2 weeks, I noticed that they continue to bill me. And when I asked why they tell me that it will continue to bill me until the day I move out just in case I don’t move out.

    Meanwhile, there’s never anybody not even the property manager is ever in the premises to confirm if I move out and when I move out. I was so frustrated with their customer service when I urged them to give me some confirmation that the account will close and the billing will stop and they had the audacity to hung up on me after they got me so frustrated. They sucked and I strongly recommend that NOBODY SHOULD EVER, EVER, EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS AWFUL COMPANY!!!!

    I have had the same storage unit with Public Storage for over 3 years ..When my 18 yr old. Son at the time went into the Navy I put some of his stuff in a 10x10 unit. It started off I thought as being high. You would think that they would want to take care of a boy serving the country that allows companies like this one to take total advantage of people. They force you into paying another 15.00 for so called insurance. The rent on that 10x10 space has gone up and up and up. I just paid 363.00 this month and they want another 69.00 for being 8 days late. I'm a 66 yr old. Veteran with 2 honorably discharged from the Navy. I have a hard time with just paying my rent and food, etc., for my wife and I. I only hope that someone reads this and stops them from getting taken and ripped out. I have checked around and there a lot of places for a third the cost.

They lock up your storage unit and do everything possible to make sure you lose everything in it. They raise your rent to extremely high amounts without notice.     To begin ALL storage facilities have become terrible at maintaining the facilities and the ever increasing rate EVERY year and so on. For others I've also had problems with the management. The Public Storage location at 5643 N Broadway Chicago, has a decent manager, within the understanding that as soon as you "hold" a unit online you will receive a barrage of calls from them. I get it, they're hustling to make another sale. The location is also well maintained. The EXTREME problem with Public Storage is the barrage of texts and emails. I just moved stuff in yesterday, I've received about 10 texts and 20 emails since then. I opted out of the texts but can't find out how to opt out of all the useless emails. This is today's world, everyone is asleep at the wheel while they want a tip or a review or a referral just for doing the job they should be doing.

    PUBLIC STORAGE WHAT IS UP WITH THE INSANE AMOUNT OF CONTACT. You're a fricking storage company, you don't the cure for cancer. Slow your role or I'll move out if I keep getting all these stupid useless emails!!!! To summarize my score, I give the facility a 4, the manager a 4, the policy they push on the manager a 2 and the stupid texts and emails a 1. So my score is actually a 2.75 not a 3 which is very fair.

    NO customer loyalty! Heads up to anyone looking to rent a unit from Public Storage, I rent in PBG FL, after first year prices increased as high as 25% for 5'x'9 unit. Went from $73 a month to $131... I called the PS account office and asked what they offer their customers that are seniors on fixed budget who use their auto-pay so no late payments? They said, "Nothing." They charge by the month after one year with increases based on average local rate. Not true, the average rate in a ten mile radius was $98 per month for a 5'x9' interior unit. Some are priced lower. They said if I wanted a cheaper monthly rate I would have to move to a new unit that was smaller. Shop around for a better storage company who appreciates their long term customers.

    The company that I work, rented a storage unit at Houston Public Storage (11900 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079). After several visits, finally on Wednesday the 27th, Mr. Jose and Mr. Michael called me and informed me that I was authorized to enter the storage unit and that I just needed to bring an ID for them to give me the gate code. On Friday the 29th, I went to the office to present my ID and get the gate code. In this occasion, neither Jose or Michael was there. I was attended to by Ms. Demi **, who searched the system and told me that I was not authorized to enter. I explained her the situation several times. I asked her to look carefully in the system to see if my name was there. I also I asked her to call Jose or Michael, so they could explain how to use the system and find me. Ms. ** simply called the District Manager and told him that I was not authorized.

    The District Manager, instead of helping and listen to me or explain to Ms. ** how to search for my name in the system, just kept repeating, "If you are not authorized, you cannot enter." He did not help me. I am sure this is not the policy of such an important company to how handle clients. These two people should receive training on how to resolve customer issues, especially the District Manager. And Ms. **, a full course on customer service and how to use the system. I hope this situation will be corrected and doesn't happen to any other customers. I'm available for further information. On Saturday September 30th I went to the office and Mr. Michael solved my situation. I want to take this opportunity to thank Michael and Jose for their excellent services.

    This place is horrible. I rented a 10x10 for $100. 3 months in they raided my rental price to 250. I moved units to another 10x 10 for $ 100. 3 months later 250 a month again. Can't ever talk to a real person. I would give a zero if I could. Rented somewhere else if you're looking for storage over 3 months. They will definitely rip you off.

    Deceiving experience. I would recommend Public Storage to my enemies as it is a good trap. Because of the constant rate increase at the end of the month after a rate increase no cart is available making it very difficult to get out before the deadline (last day of the month) at 9 pm.     I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for storage. I reserved a 10x20 auto storage unit after being assured it was available and that I had five days to come in and complete the paperwork. I was specifically told not to worry and the unit would be held for me. However, before I could finalize the rental, they leased it out to someone else. By that point, I had already canceled my previous storage arrangement, leaving me stuck and scrambling.

    On top of the broken promise, there are other serious issues. The locks they require you to “rent” cost $5 total at most, but a quick search on YouTube shows they can be picked in under 30 seconds. The insurance and hidden fees are equally frustrating, making the initial quoted price misleading at best. The total cost is nowhere near what they advertise, and the add-ons feel like a money grab. Between the bait-and-switch on the unit, the questionable security, and the deceptive pricing practices, I would never do business with this company again. Save yourself the stress. There are far better, more trustworthy storage providers out there.

    Price gouging practice seems to be going unchecked with Public Storage company. I had my stuff stored with the previous owner, Public Storage bought them out. My rent went from 140 to 190, and now 245…All in a six month span….75% increase in six months!! How is this possible?!?     I had a storage unit at this address for 8 years, 18401 N. 35th Ave. Phoenix AZ. The rates kept going up. The last one was an increase of $50.00 a month. The increases were happening every year. I sent an email one of the times asking to please reconsider. I never heard from anyone. The increases became a financial hardship when it went up to $350.00 a month (7.5X10). I found a bigger one for $112.00 a month. When I called Public Storage to let them know I was no longer going to be renting from them, they wanted to negotiate a cheaper monthly fee but I was not interested. The gouging is appalling. Shop around. Storage facilities are popping up everywhere. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this place.

    Our customer service agent was Ashleigh on Wever Road. She was very patient and detailed with our services. She worked with us to find the right size and pricing. I was reserved at 10 am but did not make a decision until 1 pm. By then the discount have vanished due to another reservation.     Beware, before even you try to book any storage with this business. They will scam you with lots of hidden charges and extremely unprofessional. Here is my story. I had few extra boxes that I wanted to keep in a small storage unit at Public Storage about 2 blocks from my place. I booked online on 30 July and scheduled to move on 31st. I was overcharged and there was hidden fees that they would never disclose up front. I called and left several messages but no one called me back.

    I tried to chat with them online, six times that chat agent hung up. There is no way to cancel the order. You can download their app and you can only move in or move out with the app. How one can move out when he/she has not moved in yet. Then I called and with extreme difficulty tried to cancel the order and the agent was extremely rude and declined to issue a refund that they charges over $116 and she hung up. I called twice and after lots of persuasion, they agreed to provide a partial refund. They did not even do that for over a week and when I called they did not refund the full amount. I booked online, never moved in and yet they charged me money. Extremely unprofessional business.

    I recently stored my truck at Public Storage for 5 weeks. I called customer service in advance to ask if the monthly rent on the 2nd month would be pro-rated, since I was moving out after only 1 week. I was told yes. When I moved out I was told it would not be pro-rated. I called customer service again, to explain that the only reason I stored my truck there was because they gave me the wrong information.     The unit I was given had two doors. Only one operated. I was told just to use the other door. Within 2 months of renting the unit, there was a huge price increase. I could not access my storage unit most of the winter because there was a gutter that drained right on top of my unit and there was thick ice at all times in front of the storage door making it impossible to open the door. I was told it was my problem or I could use the broken door (umm...its broken). I then tried to switch my unit to another unit on the property. The unit was advertised as a 10 x 20 but there was a big metal housing or duct work that took up at least a 1/3 of the floor space at the back and side of the unit. I then had to fight for a refund for that unit and was refused the $29 admin fee I paid even though they falsely advertised the unit (and were charging me rent for a 10 x 20 unit).

    When the office called they did not offer to rectify the situation in any way. I then decided to move my storage out to another facility. I gave them notice of my move out. Then all of a sudden the office wanted to work with me to keep me from leaving completely when they wouldn't even help me for the other problem. When they refunded me for the unit I didn't take, not only did they not refund the $29 admin fee, they also shorted me another $5 for absolutely no reason. Stay away from Public Storage! They are deceptive and thieves!

    Absolutely terrible customer “service”. Worse than Comcast, and I didn’t think that was possible. There is never anyone on site in the office, customers are directed to teeth-grindingly bad “customer service” number that puts you through voice menu hell. If you can navigate that, you get dumped into an AI text messaging app that eventually says, oh I can’t really help with that, please call the customer service number. I finally got through to a person by pressing “0” in the voice menu, and the agent really barely spoke English and ended up forcing Public’s own insurance on me even though I have my own.

    The website promised a small space for $65 a month, with first month only $1 plus $20 processing fee. But when I actually rented it, they said, oh that’s only for new customers and you already have an account with us. The first month’s rent plus addons ended up costing close to $120. I had rented a smaller space because the one I had, they suddenly jacked up the monthly by a whopping 40%, no advance notice. Stay away from this company, they are terrible.

    Have had a great experience with Public Storage at 4654 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs GA, with the exception of rental increases. Within one year my rental unit went from $218 to $368 per month. I called and thankfully they agreed to lower it to $292 ($308 with insurance) for three more months. However, the fact that they would take this much advantage within a year of renting is very disappointing. So, my advice is to read line 22 of your contract carefully and know that the amount you’re signing for means little by the end of the year.

    The cost of your rent will go up every 3-6 months until it is too high to rent there, but at the same time advertising the lowest price on their web site. When asked why you are paying $200 more a month than advertised, even tho you are a long time customer, they say it is because you are a long time customer. They make you pay for insurance on your unit. However, when you unit is broken into the insurance does nothing for you. I was double billed one time. When calling in for help I was treated as if it was my mistake. Completely rude!!!!

    On 7/29/25, went online and I rented a unit on the 3rd floor. When I arrived at the facility, I discovered that the elevator was inoperable. How was I to load my unit without access to my unit. There was a sign on the elevator which read, "Out of order, see manager for questions." I went to the office and found no one there. I called the office and had to leave a voicemail. I called several more times and left more voicemails. It is now the next day and I still have not heard from anyone from Public Storage.

    Public Storage in Palmetto is horrible. The inside lights don’t work so you're in the dark day and night. The bathrooms are always broken and locked so people pee in the hallways. No one is ever in the office and they never answer the phones. They closed the place completely two days before the last hurricane hit preventing customers from entering their storage units and like me many of them rented the storage units to save their valuables then couldn’t get in to store them. The corporate office doesn’t care about anything and always blame the owners of the storage facilities. Then when moving my stuff out someone vandalized my car while inside in the dark and they refused to show me the security video. All the people that work at public storage and the corporate office have no experience in the business world at all.

    2801 Hullsmith Dr location is a joke and customer service is a joke. And "climate control" statement is a false advertisement! All my stuff smells of mold after only 3 months. This whole place is a joke. Nothing is working and you can't even access your unit. This particular location is completely out of order and contacting customer service is like talking to the wall. I started sweating inside the unit right away and then quickly realized all my stuff smelled of mold after being there for only 3 months. Its so hot and humid inside I had to step outside to cool down!

    I submitted an online "concern" about climate control through live chat and was promised 72 hours response that I'm still waiting on. Both lights in my unit don't work, the bathroom doesn't work. And then the next day the gate system is offline and the property manager doesn't have any keys to access the buildings manually. First of all how does the property manager not have access to the inside units? What if there is a fire there or I passed out in one of your "climate controlled" units? It's insane but manager on duty can't help with anything but submit a request to fix the lock system. Okay whatever..

    2 days later, no one is answering the phone, and none is calling back after leaving the voicemail so we came to check it out and the system is still offline and manager on duty is non existent. So I made an earliest appointment online for today through the live chat and was promised a confirmation within 24 hours. And when I got here today of course there was none on site. I went back to live chat and apparently they have no records of making an appointment for me. I knew I should've screenshotted that conversation because it was too good to be true. So we called again and finally got to a representative and he said he'll call the manager on duty and he was only a couple minutes away. But an hour later there was no one present.

    Hours later I get a call from them saying that the property manager will be there at 1pm and will have a key to let you in. 30 min after I arrive to the location later I finally get a hold of their customers service over the phone and apparently their schedule is 1.30pm till 6pm. So customer service does nothing but promises you what you want to hear but doesn't actually do anything or for some reason they won't give the upper management contact. So if you have any issues know for sure it won't be fixed and if you have deadlines to catch, you are screwed. All they do is lie and "address your concern" and take your money. The worst experience with a storage unit I've ever had! And I'm hoping maybe they will respond to me after this review because the whole company is a false advertisement!

    The customer service is terrible! No way to speak to anyone other than through chat. I cancelled my unit rental through the app, and received an email confirmation, but the following month, they still charged me and did not close out the account. I had to chat to request a refund, not once, not twice, but 3 times throughout the month and was told each time the refund was submitted. I think they do this on purpose, take the money and hold it from the customer and make interest off of the rent they stole from me. I still have not received the refund, after my 3rd request...continually told it will take 5-7 days and it has yet to be refunded! Chose another rental company.

    My experience with Public Storage was terrible - including predatory price increases, insufficient security (including 2 break-ins in 6 months) and poor customer service/responsiveness. The TLDR summary is -- stay away and find a different solution for storage! Public Storage offered a good initial price compared to competitors in the area, offering me a large unit for $424/month. I expected an increase, as it is known that this industry lures you with low initial pricing, but the experience I had is nothing short of "predatory". In the 4th month, the price increased by 39% to $593. I was surprised by the magnitude of increase but continued using the storage unit.

    About 6 months into my lease, I experienced a first break-in where a pry-bar was used to open metal corrugated doors on the unit, by bending them out of the tracks. My storage unit was at the end of their building, and they did not have adequate security camera coverage. Multiple items were stolen from my storage unit, which amounted to an eventual ~$1500 payout from their third-party insurer through Orange Door.

    Public Storage was not able to provide another large unit that could fit the contents at the time, so I had to move some more valuable items out (time/effort/expense) and asked them to repair the unit as soon as possible and install a new security camera that covers the end of the building. It took them over 2 weeks to install a plywood cover over the broken door, and 3 months to repair the door (without further securing it). I left Public Storage a key to my unit to facilitate the repair but had no idea it would take 3 months like this (more later). Throughout the whole ordeal, I also was never successful in getting any additional security/lighting or protection added to this part of the building.

    Shortly after this horrible experience, I was contacted (8 months in) and told that the price was increased to $755/month - a 78% increase since starting the lease. After spending a good amount of time on the phone, the local office reduced that to $633 for "3 months" and I started to make plans to vacate the unit. After planning to move out, I returned to the unit to find that more items had been stolen from the storage unit. Since this happened while Public Storage had access to the storage unit, I contacted their management and suggested they investigate (and filed another police report). They claimed that another break-in had occurred, and they had already repaired the unit again. They had not reached me about either the break-in or the 2nd repair.

    Throughout the issues, I found it difficult to contact the company representatives. They do not really work through email or text messaging and often don't answer the phone during business hours. I also made 3 separate trips to try to collect the shared key during clearly posted business hours, but there was not employee available onsite. When I did reach local representatives, they were generally nice and helpful. At the end of the ordeal, I asked for a 1-month credit due to poor security and overall experience. This was granted and showed up on my credit card, and I put this behind me (or so I thought).

    Several months after putting this behind me, I was contacted by a regional office for Public Storage claiming that I was granted a one-month refund that I should not have received. I explained this over the phone to the regional representative, and his attitude was one of complete ambivalence as I relayed all of the issues at which point he told me to pay, or he would send my account over to a collection agency.

The staff refused to review camera footage and follow up on my stole property. It has been a month and they refuse to return my calls. When I was in the Public Storage office reporting my stolen property, another renter was in the office reporting her stole property that occurred when Public Storage cut off her lock and replaced it with their own lock, a lot of her property was missing.

    My unit was one of seven that were burglarized in my facility. Since I currently live out of state, it meant I had to spend over $1000 to rent a truck and drive 3000 miles rt to move the remaining items out of my unit. I asked for a prorated refund for the last week of July, as everything was out of my unit on July 24. They up and down refused to refund me anything. I probably wouldn't have asked, but my rent has more than doubled since first renting my unit. If you're thinking about renting here, dig a hole in your backyard and put your stuff in there. It will be safer and cheaper.

    Location 1079 in Concord. I would not recommend. 😐 It is worst, employee rude, disrespectful with No Home training. My unit F624 Had Water 💧, Black ⚫️ Mold, Fungus, Roaches, bugs 🐛, and Instects.     Recently, I brought some of my belongings into the office where Amanda ** the Property Manager is located by the entrance and showed her that they had Black ⚫️ Mold. She said to me "Girl don't put that too close to me or on the desk that's dangerous" and she put on a face mask. Several times when I called staff were yelling and screaming on the phone at me. Then when I called the insurance company Orange 🍊 Door they gave me a hard time and the Run 🏃‍♀️ around for months.

    The Property Manager told me that we are not allowed 🚫 to used the dumper on the property and if we do they will have the city of Concord fine us $10,000 dollars for using it without permission. But, about two weeks ago I witness a Employee allow someone to take items out of their unit and put them inside the dumper. All in all avoid this place. It is unkempt with Pot holes 🕳, Roaches, Rats 🐀 Black Mold ⚫️, Fungus, Water 💧 and the Weather strip had rotten away on the bottom of my gate on my Storage Unit

    I just moved out of my Public Storage locker in Nashville, TN. Why? Because they raised my rent 200% over the 20 months of my stay there. While I expect inflation raises of 5-15% annually, Public Storage (PS) takes big advantage of the fact that you have already paid a lot of money, and spent a lot of time, moving-in, so they know they have you - they are the worst kind of bullies. I called, sent texts via their website, and spoke personally to the manager of my facility, and he related that this is standard practice at PS, and that many other renters there had also complained (in fact, one was on the speaker phone while I was leaving complaining about the same price increases).

    Management continues the practice, and I suppose it is their business model to rip off their customers, because they know they have your stuff, and many times the people have moved, are out of state, or otherwise unable to move their belongings in short order. It's a really poor model that abuses their customers, and I will never, ever work with them again. The PS management and ownership are really ** people, because I would have stayed there for years if they hadn't ripped me off so badly. The greed they exhibit should be illegal, and I hope one day it is.

    All I can do is tell as many people as I can not to use them, so they too don't get taken advantage of like me. Image how bad the management and ownership is that they destroy their brand value like this. Really a shame, and the owners and management should really examine their moral and ethical boundaries, as well as their financial plan. Word is out on Public Storage, and it isn't good. Don't stay here with these thieves.

    Buyer Beware! I live in Denton, TX. I had a storage facility near my house with a small business owner. It was very well run and when I moved to the other side of town, I was content to stay there. At the end of 2024 Public Storage took over and kept the rates the same. They just raised my rate on July 1, 2025 from $161 to $222 a month for a non-climate controlled drive up 10x10 unit. I decided it was time to move. I could see in the app that the same unit I had at that location showed a price of $131/month with a special price of $105 2 days ago. Today the rate shown is $149 for a special price of $119. When I called to complain about this, I was told that all the rates shown are “introductory rates”. So people have no idea that the unit they are getting they think the normal rate is $149/month is really $222/month. This is terrible business ethic in my mind!

    I signed up for the "Memorial Day Sale" 50% off for the life of the rental. After only 90 days the rent went up 50%! 3 months in and it went from $54 to $81! Bait and switch nonsense! Very disappointed with the surreptitious style used to rope me in. In a few months I'll be paying the full amount and more. The overhead light is inoperable and there seems to be an endless supply of excuses why it can't be fixed as well. I will be moving as soon as it is practical.

    Hello, the public storage at 1546 Gallatin Pike, in Madison TN. My first rent was one dollar then the fees went up to 1736.24, I’m homeless so I asked the District manager ** to work with me on the fees, He said that can not. I'm a older ** woman from Ga.     I have rented a storage unit and at times two units at the Davie, Florida location at 10600 W. State Rd 84. I am getting my things out of there this month. The rates are too high but that isn't the worst of it. Recently they stopped allowing customers to use the restrooms!! 😲 This is the last straw. Don't do business with these people.     Lehi, Utah Public Storage doubled our rate in less than two years. They get you by giving you a cheap price to start out with but I promise within two years. It will at least be doubled and there’s nothing they do for you. They try to tell you it’s because of the market, but when you can call other storage places which will guarantee your rate for the length of the rental, you know it’s just a ploy by the mismanaged company.

    If I could give this place a negative (Alameda, Ca, Webster) rating, I would. I rented a unit here for three months and had an extremely disappointing experience. The office is rarely staffed, so you're usually forced to leave a voicemail and wait for a call back. Their advertised prices are misleading—you end up paying much more than expected.     I started a couple years ago with a small space 10 x 15. Was $105 pretty month. Now with their increases it's $279 per month. I contacted agent from corporate online and asked why price online is $140 per month and why I'm being charged so much. I got a curt response of availability, economy and other BS that's why it went up and the price online is only for new customers. Then was told they had other customers to help and promptly disconnected my call. Couldn't even give a response.     Ever since **—who managed this location for over seven years—was transferred, the customer service has gone completely downhill. She was replaced by **, then by another guy, and now by yet another young man who is never in the office. About ten days ago, he even left the office unlocked. The one and only restroom has been locked for over a month and a half—apparently out of service indefinitely.

    I’m paying for a temperature-controlled unit, yet it’s consistently hot inside. Despite several complaints, nothing has been done—though I’m still being charged for the “amenity.” Rent increases are slipped in without any advance notice, as if that’s perfectly acceptable practice. I’ve also asked—more than once—for the district manager to contact me. Unsurprisingly, that too has been ignored. This is about the facility at 2409 Old Denton Rd. in Carrollton, TX 75006. All in all, this place has become a textbook example of how not to manage a facility.

    I rented a storage unit at 3001 S. Ridge in Concord, NC in horrible conditions. This unit is dirty with rat feces and rat poison (please see attached pictures), I was told I can switch to another unit and now one is not available. So my only options are to move out with no refund, to move to a different location at a much higher price or to take a smaller unit available at a much higher price at the same location. I am livid at this point because this rental unit should not be in this conditions in the first place. No person in their right mind should use a storage unit in these conditions. Public storage has one obligation to make sure the unit is clean and rentable with no exposure to rodents or the weather. You should be able to feel safe putting your belongings in the storage unit without dirt, feces and visible point of entry for rodents to enter. I am receiving horrible customer service as if I put the holes in the walls, placed the rat poison and feces in there myself.

    Please do not rent from this company or location if the rental storage unit are in these conditions because then the next person has to use it without them cleaning it or fixing the damage holes in the walls. This is definitely a money grab company that just wants to take your money but have no accountability to provide a safe, clean and rentable storage unit.

    I strongly recommend to DO NOT RENT from Public Storage. They hook you with a good monthly rate and then they keep increasing the rate every 6 months. I had my monthly rent going from $130/month in Jan 2024 to $234 in July 2025. That's almost a 2x in 18 months. Unfair and unacceptable and there is nothing you can do about that.     I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and utter contempt for Public Storage Chickasha. My experience with this company has been nothing short of a daylight robbery, and I feel compelled to warn others to steer clear of these crooks. I initially rented a storage unit from Public Storage in 2019 at a reasonable rate of $175 per month. Over the years, I accepted incremental increases, but nothing prepared me for their latest stunt. In the span of just 12 months, they've jacked up my monthly rate by an obscene 60%, from a horrible $380 price to an outrageous $608! This kind of price gouging is not only unethical but also preys on loyal customers who trust them with their belongings.

    I urge anyone considering Public Storage to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other storage facilities that offer fair pricing and treat their customers with respect. Do not fall victim to Public Storage's predatory practices. Save yourself the headache and the financial burden—choose any other storage provider. I explained about the auto pay and apologized but the woman was quite rude by saying that they can't change the rules just for me. I didn't ask for the rules to be changed.     This is the worst company I have dealt with in my life. "Property manager" is a myth it seems: EVERY time I have seen someone at the office in Canton MI, which is NOT often, it is a different person, complaining about how this is not their proper site. They told me they were auctioning my locker contents, then two months later I find out they are still billing me. ZERO response from SEVERAL calls to property manager. Messages left completely ignored. YET, they keep billing me for several months after I told them to dispose of the contents in the manner of their choosing, since I was under the impression it had been sold already.

    I cannot believe it is legal to operate as they do in Michigan; nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone, unless you pretend to be someone looking for a new unit. Asked for supervisor, was given someone whose English was so poor I had to ask her to repeat everything she said. When finally given to someone in "escalations", he just repeated that the comments were noted, but NEVER answered any question about why nobody answers the phone, why I was told my stuff was being sold and months later they are still billing me and telling me it is GOING to be auctioned. Sell or give your stuff away before dealing with these people. I see somewhere here a mention of a class action suit. I intend to find out if there is one and if I can join it. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

    I want to give a shout out to Tara, the manager at Public Storage in Orlando, she was a gem! As for the company itself, Public Storage has been a nightmare. They lured me in with a low price, and then they hit me with the corporate greed. In the less than a year that I stored my boat there, I had to deal with multiple rate increases. I've been storing boats for over 20 years, so I know that price increases will happen. But this company takes it to a whole different level. I wasted my whole Saturday getting my boat out of there, and I have found a better company. I just paid for the month, of course there is no prorated refund. They will double down and take my prepaid rental amount and the payment from a new customer.
