    I found the person I was looking for and the report included general information that was helpful. I was looking for marriage entries but did not find any, which is likely a function of the person not having been married when I thought. I did get three separate charges on my account, which wasn't what I was expecting. I remember thinking $7 was reasonable for a single search but was later debited $9.99 and then $1.00 (still not sure what for) but I did receive a polite letter in the mail that indicated that I had an "account in good standing" so I contacted customer support to make sure I hadn't inadvertently signed up for another expensive renewal I wasn't aware of. I'm sure the information was on the website but likely somewhere in the small print I didn't read. Customer support cancelled me right away and most companies never mention you are on the hook for recurring charges until you see the debit in your account so I have to give them credit for reaching out with an actual letter.

    This site does give access to some records but not all. Also, once you sign up there's a recurring monthly fee that feels rather hidden in the signup process. I'm not saying it's not on me for not identifying this recurring fee but the initial fee was cheap and then there's an ongoing monthly fee that isn't clearly identified.     While researching a house that formerly belonged to one of my ancestors, I stumbled across this site that seemed to offer a more in-depth historical report than I could do myself, including a special report by one of their 'experts'. So I requested a report $9.85, then had to add $7 for pdf, then $9 for 'detailed owner report', then $8 for their 'data expert', and $1 for something unknown. And then I received 2 letters in the mail showing that my report was available at their website: Each time I went to the site, the only thing that I found that I could not find on the web was just details about the owners: age, when they owned the house, some information about them that would be useful to a private investigator.

    As this house looms large in our family lore, with rumors that it was originally built by one of the architects of the Erie Canal, I felt that these one time charges would be worth it, although I didn't like the add-on charges along the way. We didn't get any info that was older than 2006. And then, on top of all of that, it turns out that the original $9.85 is a monthly subscription. While they did reverse the charge when I opened up a chat with them, I must say that it was not readily apparent to me, when requesting my single report, that I would be getting monthly charges.
