As the executor of my parent’s estate, it helped to verify information and track the sale of properties which my parents held notes on. The database is very helpful and I would use it again. Lastly, David was helpful in closing my account.

I strongly advise against using this service. My experience was extremely negative. The pricing is unclear and misleading from the start. Charges appeared that were not transparently disclosed upfront, and there was no clear breakdown of what I was paying for. Once payment was made, the service delivered little to no actual value and did not function as advertised. Customer support was unhelpful and did not provide a reasonable explanation or resolution. Requests for clarification or refunds went unanswered or were deflected. Overall, this felt like a money trap rather than a legitimate, well-run service. If you decide to use it despite this warning, protect yourself by paying only with a credit card that you can cancel or dispute immediately. I regret using this service and would not recommend it to anyone.

I was able to find information I needed easily. Very thorough records vs other places I looked online. They canceled my subscription when I was done, no questions asked. I am trying to leave a positive review but it’s too short for me to post. The most frustrating part about Public Records has been trying to leave a positive review!

It also brought up information on related people that I would not have thought to search for. In addition, when I went to cancel my account they made it incredibly easy to do. Checking on someone who has been harassing a family member's criminal history. Your search showed two records so I paid for access. Then paid for records and then the only records you have was contact info. Very misleading in your search for criminal records.

Blueprints / ground plans aren't able to be looked up so use your county office for more specific documentation but this gave me some good broad info. Good stuff!

I found a reoccurring charge after believing I paid for one record, once. The representative was quick to pull up the issue and correct it. I appreciate being heard and feel respected. I only hope the website makes it more clear what one is paying for and making sure the customer has made the correct decision.

The refund should take 5-7 business days. If I don't see it by then, I will recontact as working with the chat is super simple.

Speedy process of getting the information you requested, but many fees that keep popping up. After you pay for what you need, you’ll need to manually close out anything further, or you’ll just keep getting charged for what you have, even if you never use the site again.

Went on Public Records to dive into a family property and got more information than I even needed. Very easy to use and cost effective. When I no longer needed the account, it was very easy to cancel by using a live chat.

The website indicates it charges $1 for a basic report. I was charged $5. I tried 3 times to call their number 888-700-8184, after a brief hold, twice they hung up on me, finally got through on the 3rd try. The agent claimed I was supposed to call immediately after seeing the online and cancel the account in order to be charged only $1. Nowhere did it say that. I got her to cancel my account, but they made $5 instead of the advertised $1.

The upfront info message sounds like what a person would want, then you pay thinking you will have the info wanted to find out it's not there. Dumber!!! Charles was very helpful in hopefully getting the info but I have to wait 24-48 hours. Not his fault to see if it's right. Very courteous and kind. He did get some of my $s back. Maybe the intro should be more clear. Now I have to call and get the company to stop charges for any further time since this is a one time deal. Changes would be helpful.

I never write reviews, really I don't, but I can not let this one slide. Public Records has very misleading business practices. Unless you would like to have money siphoned out of your account, I would absolutely not use publicrecords.us I am beyond shocked that anyone has given this anything but a one start review. They make unauthorized charges and claim it is additional "services" because the record required more "research" (after you already have the document you paid $5 for-which is free and publicly available on a different site but that is a live and learn type of situation). These charges are not made clear up front period.

Used your search a vehicle VIN service, and was happy with results and ability to cancel without struggle. Then I was done with the "Experience" and my kind review of the truth, but now I am REQUIRED to write an epistle instead of saying all I want to say, so ALL this additional writing is a waste of my valuable time, I hope this makes you happy, especially after you were doing so well, but now FAILURE!

Quick accurate service on my account. I used this site once to retrieve a property record for tax purposes and found what I was looking for immediately. Not sure why but an account was created for me that I did not need and support was quick to help me close the account and refund the cost.

Shady practices... They make it seem like you're paying for a report, but you're really signing up for a subscription. There is no way to cancel without at least chatting online with one of their people (who were quick and efficient at canceling, by the way).

Updated on 01/15/2026: UPDATE 1/15/26– 13 days, generic comment response lead to generic email response, still no refund. Banks states it’s on the merchant to finalize transaction. Merchant (public records.us) denies any responsibility. Scammers. You won’t get your money back people. Do NOT use this site.

I was able to find the records I needed easily. I even looked up my own address for fun. When I no longer required their services, I was able to cancel my membership very easily. I would recommend this site.

They didn't provide the information I needed. They charge you continuously and I guarantee that was not made clear when I made the initial payment or I never would have done it. The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is because, as some else pointed out, they refunded the charges immediately if you contacted them via chat. Still, I'm guessing the $5 amount is meant to be small enough that a lot of people probably never notice. Beware this website.

This company does not clarify upfront that you are going to pay a fee whether you purchase the report or not, and they do not ask permission to keep your banking information to charge you "recurring" fees. The one report I got from them cost me like $17 and contained no information. So, a couple weeks later, I decide to try again and see if the report would be updated. But after the report was complete, their options for payment was a 3 or 6 month or a yearly fee. I decided I wasn't going to waste my money since I didn't know if the next report was going to give me more information. I also thought, why would I want a 3 or 6 month or a year's worth of reports for one person. I had no intentions of looking up anyone else, so I didn't make a purchase for the report. And then these "recurring" charges show up and I have no idea why.

Yes they did provide the information I needed BUT they weren't honest about the charges. They make you believe the report is only $1 but suddenly you're being charged $5 for "credits" towards a bunch of other reports which many people don't need. I didn't notice until a month later when I got charged another $5 on my card. I contacted them and they cancelled the recurring charge but it doesn't excuse their behavior.

Steven in customer support helped me close the account when I realized it wasn't needed any longer. He was prompt, polite and very helpful. I appreciate his time. My decision not to recommend the website is not because of poor service, it's only because I don't know that they'll need it. PublicRecords.us. Useless Report and Hidden Weekly Charges. You can get this information online for free—the report I paid for was completely useless to me. On top of that, this company enrolled me in weekly automated charges without my clear understanding and refused to provide any information security policy when I asked for it. When I called the number on my bank statement, it felt like a dedicated cancellation line—they even answered with, “Are you calling to cancel your policy?” I had to call four times before anyone would talk to me, and they still wouldn’t share their information security policy unless I provided more personal information. They claimed to service multiple websites, including publicrecords.us, yet couldn’t provide a link to any policy or documentation explaining the charges.

Very misleading. They probably make a fortune in the 5 dollar charges you don't give permission for. Made it seem like I was paying a dollar for a report. Next thing you know. I have a $1, a $9, and two $5 dollar charges. All I wanted to know is if I owned the easement driveway in front of my house. I still don't have that information. Not cool on yall's part. Appreciate the cancel on the phone. But you still charged me after the fact. So what's really the point?

While searching for more information on a property, clicks led me to PublicRecords.us. I didn't expect to find local county information there when I realized it was nationwide. However, all the information, plus, was there. Site responds rapidly to input and I had completed my task in just minutes instead of the expected hours. An added plus, months later, when I needed assistance and turned to their service "Chat" it was the same rapid response, a short wait, and the outcome was just like the original information - a "plus" above what I asked for! I will go here first in the future for property information.

I simply wanted a one-time license plate check on a truck I was interested in. I was directed to this site that was advertised as a free report. After entering all my information, I was presented with subscription prices, but found in small print that I could buy a single report for $1, so I continued. However, after several minutes, I was informed that no information was available. My credit card was charged $5. Unacceptable. I would have paid the $1.

The report I got included a lot of information about historical owners, inaccurate information about the property, etc. Maybe 40-45% of the report was accurate and it did not include the one thing I asked for, the metes and bounds. I was also charged twice but only received one report.

The site did provide the name of the home owner, which is what I was needed. However the site itself is terribly misleading with respect to charges. They advertise that you only have to pay $1.00 to use their service. After you enter your credit card number, they start charging you $20 every 2 weeks without your authorization. You cannot cancel this "hidden" subscription, you have to call them to cancel. They are scammers!

When I finally got the information the person wasn't even on the list. The name I entered wasn't on the list. THIS IS A SCAM SITE!!!

The process was fairly simple -- I entered my address, and after entering my credit card information, everything appeared as promised. It was only a dollar, but I do think that alerting folks earlier in the process as to the possible fees (there were numerous options for types of reports) would be courteous.

This person forwarded my questions and stated that I would have a reply by 24 hours. And also another question regarding a person that was listed as a residence but we do not know of this person, nor have they lived at my mom's property. Noted that records are not always accurate.

The customer service agent was very helpful in resolving the issue. There was an invalid charge related to my property records. I didn’t authorize this charge and had to initiate an inquiry with the customer service agent. He looked into it and quickly resolved the issue. I also requested to close my account which he did subsequently.
