    I strongly advise against using this service. My experience was extremely negative. The pricing is unclear and misleading from the start. Charges appeared that were not transparently disclosed upfront, and there was no clear breakdown of what I was paying for. Once payment was made, the service delivered little to no actual value and did not function as advertised. Customer support was unhelpful and did not provide a reasonable explanation or resolution. Requests for clarification or refunds went unanswered or were deflected. Overall, this felt like a money trap rather than a legitimate, well-run service. If you decide to use it despite this warning, protect yourself by paying only with a credit card that you can cancel or dispute immediately. I regret using this service and would not recommend it to anyone.

    I never write reviews, really I don't, but I can not let this one slide. Public Records has very misleading business practices. Unless you would like to have money siphoned out of your account, I would absolutely not use publicrecords.us I am beyond shocked that anyone has given this anything but a one start review. They make unauthorized charges and claim it is additional "services" because the record required more "research" (after you already have the document you paid $5 for-which is free and publicly available on a different site but that is a live and learn type of situation). These charges are not made clear up front period.

    Original Review: Same story as the rest, was signed up for a subscription that I didn’t agree to, three months after the fact and $55 later, I reach out to chat and am told my subscription would be canceled and I would be refunded the full $55. Great, I was pleased, saw the authorization for the pending refunds (they refunded each charge individually instead of a lump sum of $55, screen shot of one of the refund confirmation emails for a $5 charge attached below) in my bank account promptly, but a few days later the pending authorizations were removed from my ledger and no money was returned to me. Reached out to customer service and they asked me to give it a few more days. At that point it had been 4-5 “working” business days so I decided to give them until their high end of the time frame and wait for 7 business days, still no money returned to my account.

    Fast forward it has now been 11 business days (request was made December 27, 2025… it is now January 13, 2026). I understand holidays were a factor in the last few weeks, but banks and businesses have been open for 11 days between my request and today and I have not received my refund. Google says that when pending authorizations are dropped from an account without refund, the authorization has “timed out” due to the merchant not finalizing the transaction on their end, and that it may still appear in a few days…

    Well it’s been more than a few days and looks like the scam of a site got away with their dirty tricks this time because my bank is unaware of any pending authorization (since it’s now been dropped for over a week) and stated I have to take it up with the merchant, which I have to no avail. Customer service just tells me to continue to wait, or reach out to my bank because they have washed their hands of it. Would be interested in knowing if all these people that claim they were promptly refunded ever ACTUALLY received their money back.

    This company does not clarify upfront that you are going to pay a fee whether you purchase the report or not, and they do not ask permission to keep your banking information to charge you "recurring" fees. The one report I got from them cost me like $17 and contained no information. So, a couple weeks later, I decide to try again and see if the report would be updated. But after the report was complete, their options for payment was a 3 or 6 month or a yearly fee. I decided I wasn't going to waste my money since I didn't know if the next report was going to give me more information. I also thought, why would I want a 3 or 6 month or a year's worth of reports for one person. I had no intentions of looking up anyone else, so I didn't make a purchase for the report. And then these "recurring" charges show up and I have no idea why.

    PublicRecords.us. Useless Report and Hidden Weekly Charges. You can get this information online for free—the report I paid for was completely useless to me. On top of that, this company enrolled me in weekly automated charges without my clear understanding and refused to provide any information security policy when I asked for it. When I called the number on my bank statement, it felt like a dedicated cancellation line—they even answered with, “Are you calling to cancel your policy?” I had to call four times before anyone would talk to me, and they still wouldn’t share their information security policy unless I provided more personal information. They claimed to service multiple websites, including publicrecords.us, yet couldn’t provide a link to any policy or documentation explaining the charges.

    I finally reached someone through their online chat, and the representative (“Kimberly”) stated that I had been billed weekly for a “bundle,” whether I used it or not, for two years. Their message read: Kimberly – Customer Support 03:27 PM. “You were charged $5.00 and $1.00 for the report bundle package, $7.00 for the PDF version, and $18.00 and $15.00 for the comprehensive report upgrade. Would you like to close your account and void the remaining charges?” Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this service.

    Very misleading. They probably make a fortune in the 5 dollar charges you don't give permission for. Made it seem like I was paying a dollar for a report. Next thing you know.     I used this service trying to find a legal description of my property (metes and bounds). The report I got included a lot of information about historical owners, inaccurate information about the property, etc. Maybe 40-45% of the report was accurate and it did not include the one thing I asked for, the metes and bounds. I was also charged twice but only received one report.

    Even though says that you can unsubscribe with a single click, the site is extremely primitive, with no visible way to get to any kind of account management page. I asked the Chat to cancel my account and it immediately wrote back that it had closed my account. Since my account was only open for an hour or so, I can't report in this review whether they will try to start charging me.

    Be aware the site says that, after the first report, it will start charging $20 every two weeks for two years towards 960 reports. I only wanted one report and the site didn't give me a choice to refuse the recurring plan, which is why I wanted to close the account immediately after getting my report. The information in here can't be trusted.

    The site did provide the name of the home owner, which is what I was needed. However the site itself is terribly misleading with respect to charges. I only needed one record, and this is what they say on the website: Q: HOW IS PRICING STRUCTURED FOR PUBLIC RECORD REPORTS? 1 REPORT FOR $1 (LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER)

    I think any reasonable person would assume that is all they charge. NOWHERE does it say you are actually signing up for a membership that is AUTOMATICALLY charged to your credit card. Then days later my credit card was charged $5. When I called I was told it's a membership fee! At NO POINT in the ordering process was I informed I was signing up for a recurring membership, nor that they would keep my credit card on file and continue to charge unless I called to cancel. I NEVER got a receipt or order number outlining current and future charges! The ONLY thing I ever got was a link to the record I requested, and that was it!

    Well, I did call and they did cancel my "membership," that I never signed up for, and I received a confirmation email to that effect. But I should never have had to jump through hoops to do this. They should have been more transparent from the beginning. 2 Stars for immediately responding with the record I needed, and good customer service to cancel.

    The customer service agent was very helpful in resolving the issue. There was an invalid charge related to my property records. I didn’t authorize this charge and had to initiate an inquiry with the customer service agent. He looked into it and quickly resolved the issue.
