    The company kept charging my card after my one-time use of their site. Their charges were monthly at $5, then started to become twice/month for $20 each time. I called to request a refund and the representative was unprofessional to a great degree. He did refund, but not without my pushback for ALL previous charges, and he was not going to email the refund receipts until I demanded it. He continued to cut me off and push financial advice onto me about “checking my account more often with a fine tooth comb so it doesn’t affect business like this”. Terrible customer service, but supposedly will get the refunds within 3-5 days.

    I requested one record in October the website said the first record cost $1. It was easy to access and helpful to me. Today, months later I discovered I’ve been charged $20 a month for a subscription since my first dealing with Publicrecords.us. I have no need for ongoing records and am very careful about what I subscribe to. No way I approved an ongoing subscription. I contacted my credit card company immediately and filed dispute. Afterwards I looked up my records from October last year and reached out to company directly. Like other reviewers, the company immediately said they’d issue a full credit except for an initial $15 charge that they’d have to return with a paper check??? The speedy response was good, perhaps they realized they had/have dishonest employees, but they did not explain how I was subscribed initially.

    Overall I think Publicrecords is great. My only complaint is that there are not clear instructions for logging in and pulling reports and when/how you get charge.     PublicRecords.us does NOT state on the website that you are signing up for a one day trial that turns into a 2 year bundle that costs as much as $40 monthly. Nowhere does the website say that you automatically are signed up for this bundle by using the site one time. I was checking the address of one friend and ended up paying two months of charges.     I attempted to purchase a one-time public records search and did not knowingly or intentionally enroll in a subscription. I am careful about avoiding subscriptions due to prior fraud experiences. At the time of purchase (July), PublicRecords.us did not clearly or conspicuously disclose that the transaction would result in a recurring subscription. The website presentation reasonably led me to believe I was paying for a single report. I was not shown clear subscription terms, billing frequency, or an affirmative opt-in to recurring charges. I later discovered that my card was charged $20 twice per month for approximately six months without my informed authorization. The billing descriptor on my bank statements simply reads “Card Purchases Publicrecords.us,” which does not identify the charges as recurring and made detection difficult.

    Because the subscription was not clearly disclosed, not knowingly authorized, and not clearly labeled on billing statements, I am disputing these charges as unauthorized recurring transactions resulting from misleading enrollment practices. Had the subscription been clearly disclosed, I would not have agreed to it. I am requesting reimbursement for all recurring charges and have canceled the service immediately upon discovering the issue. I strongly caution consumers to review this company carefully. Any service that fails to clearly disclose recurring billing and uses vague charge descriptors places consumers at a disadvantage and raises serious transparency concerns.

    Do Not use this site. It is a scam that says $1 for access to a property report, then rewords it to say it's $1 for an "access fee". Then when you want the actual pdf report you have to pay $7 for THAT, so you click yes because now it's only $8 total, but then the next screen asks for $9 for either an owner's report or a property report, so now you're paying another $9, or $17 total. The next screen had more upsells but you could skip that one, so then in the end you get a report from Zillow, etc. All internet-available info. and not an older selling price I was looking for! And then when I open the pdf report they emailed me, most of it was blank pages that I guess their software didn't generate to pdf correctly (I'm running Acrobat Pro 2017 - never a problem with any other pdf)! What a complete rip-off!

    Charges were noted on my credit card that were incorrect and David assisted me in getting those charges reversed. I don’t recall signing up for the services being charged for. The customer service is great, but I question why the charges were applied the way they were.

    I got the information I needed, and when I realized I had signed up for recurring a recurring charge I contacted the help desk and they canceled my account immediately with no problem. Just make sure you realize you’re signing up for recurring monthly charge.

    Their fee practices are secretive and deceptive. I was led to believe that I was paying $1 and then I canceled the membership. It must not have gone through because they did not make it easy. I paid over $300 in fees before I realized they never cancelled. They refunded $80 but still kept $220 of my money. Very deceptive membership. They bury it in terms and agreements.
