Medical Alert's reps have always been good. The last time they were out here, they didn't work this lock on the front door and they were pounding on the garage door. My neighbor came over here and they said they were about break to in. Other than that, I'd tell others that they'd better get the device because it's helped me out.

Medical Alert device is good. Having the device, I feel more like I have somebody in the house with me. I feel safer with it. If I fall and can't get up, I can just smash the button. The only problem l have is sometimes I touch it and don't want to. I've accidentally set it off two or three times but they’ve been real nice to me when I tell them I'm sorry.

The device is not comfortable to wear but I carry it with me everywhere I go. It helps and the service is quick. You have to watch the device though. As soon as you bump it a little bit, it goes off. You have to handle it very carefully. Several times I had a call in and it was false because I didn't know I bumped it. But whenever I accidentally hit it, they respond right away. They always have to find out the location. They come in and I talk to them and tell them it's false alarm.

I feel a little more secure as long as I have my necklace on. When I take it off and walk out of the bathroom and don't have it on, it dawns on me I don't have that. So I have to get right back in there and get it on. But I'm very upset with Medical Alert. Number one, a fella called about March and said that for $5 or something more a month, I could do something else. He charged me for the whole three months on my bill. Then there was another charge on there, “Lock in this and the price won't raise.” That has already been taken out of my checking account which I am very much opposed to. So I cancelled that for everybody. Now, they're going to have to send me bills because of one person.

My Medical Alert is okay, except the new one that I have goes off awfully easy. The one representative I called advised me to wear it higher up. I'm short, so it was very low, so, every time I would sit, it would set it off ‘cause it's very sensitive. So, I moved it up to where she suggested and it's working much better. I feel much better now that I have it. My family also feels better ‘cause they worry that I would fall. It works ‘cause I fell one time and it went off. Their response was immediate. My son and my daughter called. They asked if I needed the paramedics. I didn't know for sure if I did or not, so I said, “Check me out.” So, they checked me out and everything was fine.

Medical Alert gives me the security to know that if anything happens to me, that I can summon some help. Even though I live in an apartment house where if I need help, and I can get to the phone, they have all my information as to where my children are. I feel a little bit more secure that I have this that I could use and especially with the newer one that I just bought, that helps me if I fall and I can't reach it. At least that would notify that I need help.

This is a very sensitive device though and it was long in the beginning. Every time I bend over, I was setting it off. My son shortened it for me a little bit, and that helped a little bit. I found out the string around the neck is expansive. You shorten it and it lengthens again because of the weight of the advice. He has to shorten it again. But I'm getting used to it being there. I'm not such a nuisance to them now, but I was getting in trouble with that two times a day or more. But they've been wonderful. Thank God, I've never had to use it all the years I've had it. But if I call them, I get a response from them. Also, if the device is activated, either purposely or by accident, I get a response from them.

My Medical Alert device is like a phone. I wear it on my waistband. I have the fall button as well. They said that it didn't detect falls, that I wasn't paying for fall detection, when it did detect falls. A couple of times, if I was at the doctor's, I would take the device off and put it in my purse. Then when I would leave the doctor's, I would go to the car and kind of drop my purse on to the seat of the car, and the thing would alarm. So it had detected that fall. I need to talk with them more about it to make sure I'm getting the protection because there were times when I fell and it didn't detect the fall. I tested it and it didn't detect that I had dropped it purposely. So I don't depend on that as much as I depend on the device that I can press the button and talk to someone. I carry that with me all the time. In fact, I take it to the shower with me and if I'm walking around the house, I keep it on the floor. In case I fall, then I can crawl over to it. I try to test it once a month and I get a response, usually, right away. I'm satisfied with it.

We got Medical Alert late March. My husband is very ill and I didn't feel good for a few days. I told my husband when we went to bed that night, “Oh, I hope I feel better in the morning.” I woke up about 4 o'clock in the morning and could not get out of bed. I've tried off and on for two hours to get out of bed. I could raise up a little, and that was it. My hands and feet worked, but I couldn't get out of bed. My husband woke up and I said, “You need to call 911.” It ended up that my blood pressure was really low, and I had pneumonia and some other infection. I spent a few days in the hospital, and that really scared me. If I had been here alone, I would have just laid there and died. We decided to get Medical Alert.

We test the device once a month. They have me to push the Help button and then talk to me once a month for the test. They respond really quickly. The longest it's been was like 20 seconds before the person came on. Having Medical Alert makes me feel more confident. We got the one we wear around our neck because I didn't want something for my wrist. I feel like at night, I'd have better luck with around my neck. I didn't wanna get one that’s a phone because unless I have it in bed with me and could get it real simple, that wouldn’t have helped me.

The one I wear around my neck is really lightweight. You don't even know you have it. That's good, too because I've seen a couple of them on TV that I thought, “It looks like they’re wearing their cellphone around their neck.” I don’t think I want that. Initially, they told me that the device would be coming in the mail in five to 10 business days, and we got it two days later. I was really impressed. I had called Life Alert, and they’re well over $100 a month. We’re paying about 37 to Medical Alert. Also, they always know my name, check my address and stuff with me when I called to check it. So, they know who we are.

The team stinks. They're very poorly educated about the equipment. They want me to test every month. I called and asked a simple question, how do I test, 'cause the manual didn't tell either. The first girl told me to hold the button down for five seconds. Then she put me on to somebody else who said to call this certain phone number. I did that and they said that I was calling the wrong number. I then called the number that's on the back of my unit and they told me I was calling the wrong number, which was in the manual as well. They gave me the right one. I put it down on a Post-it note and put it beside my telephone because that's the only way I know what number to call to test my unit monthly.

The unit goes off all the time as it has the fall feature. If I breathe or if I move my shirt the least little bit, it goes off. Of course, I hit the button and cancel the call. But it's aggravating. I already recommended it to a friend in Florida and she signed up last week. But I told her the problems I had with it and I guided her around what she's going to have to do.

They would then play it back to make sure it worked. But last time I checked, it didn’t play back. That aside, everything’s been fine. The device hangs around my neck. I fell twice and each time, I was able to get ahold of my own phone and got my kids here to get me up. They can get here quicker than anybody else can.

Medical Alert makes me feel safer but the device is very sensitive to falling. You have to be really careful. You can’t move at all really with it, and when you press the button, it goes off so much. Other than that, they definitely respond all the time. I feel bad because it has accidentally gone off so many times. But at least they were there asking if I needed help and that emergency could be on the way. Then, they would always ask me if there was anyone else there that I was with to reach out to someone for an emergency. So I’d rather for it to go off when I need it or when I don’t need it, instead of not going off when I really need it.

Other than that, I wear the device everyday and I'd rather not, but I've gotten used to it. At first, I really liked it and I recommended it to my friends. I told them that price-wise, it was good for what I was doing. But I didn't like that they changed the button and started charging me 10 more dollars. Now, they take it out of the yearly fund every year then every month, they take 10 more dollars out for this newer thing. But I didn't ask for the newer thing and that was their doing.

Then, when I got my statement from the bank, it said I had been charged $5 by Medical Alert. When I asked what was that for, they said that some lady lost hers, so it was a security for me. But I'm not going to lose mine, why do I have to pay this fee? I should not have to pay for somebody else's stupidity. I was also charged another $5 and I'm not sure what that was about. All in all, I'm disappointed in them. First I was told that it would cost so much a year and if you pay every year, that's it. But the next thing I know, I'm getting all these other charges stacked on and I don't like to be lied to.

We went for a walk - me pushing his wheelchair (without the pendant). By the time we got back there were several police cars, fire trucks etc at the house because nobody was home to answer the pendant. I used to live out in the country and I had a different telephone system. I moved to Butler and I couldn't get a phone like that. We got this other phone system, and for three months I thought the alert system was working, but it wasn't. It wouldn't work on that old system. So, Medical Alert sent me a new one which works on it. Out in the country, there was a time or two my little dog pressed the button, and I found out fast that I had service. They always asked, “Are you hurt?” And I said, “No.” And then, they wanted to know if anyone else in the house was hurt. I said, “No,” I told them what happened, and that was all there was to it. I feel safer with Medical Alert. I do cardiac exercise at the hospital here in Butler two times a week and I have mentioned the Medical Alert system to them, and they think it's a good thing.

About early January, someone talked me into getting a new button that was supposed to be sensitive in case I fall down and can't reach my regular button. So, I agreed to it. But later, I had not received the button. So at that point, I called and a representative helped me. They told me that they were sorry about that, that they'd FedExed the button, but it never got to me. So they sent me another one.

When I first had this new button and I was wearing it at night, about four times within a couple of weeks, I got woke up during the night because the button had gone off, apparently. But I didn't hear it because I'm totally deaf. I have to wear hearing aids and I take them off at night. The reps at Medical Alert called me in the middle of the night and asked me if everything was all right. They responded really well, but I complained because I didn't know what I was going to do about this thing. If the medical alert system was going to make be calling all the time, it was not going to be good for me.

The woman that I talked to suggested that I just wear my old button at night and that was okay, but that kind of defeats the whole thing. Right now, I'm wearing both of them and I'm well covered. But I've been a little bit disappointed with that new button and I feel like it was not needed that bad. But otherwise, I can't complain about the company. I've been with them for so long. I'm 94 years old and I started with them when I was 80. My children talked me into it because I live alone and the few times that I've had a problem, they've been good and very quick about connecting the people that I needed for help, like the EMTs. And they stay on the line until they make sure that I'm cared for, so that has been great.

The last time I used it, I had scratched my foot with my other foot because I couldn't reach in to scratch it with my hand. Evidently, my sharp toenail was sharp and it cut in there and I was bleeding profusely. The medics were here right away. They took my vitals and I was still bleeding. It was just coming out in squirts. The head medic asked me, "Do you want to go to the hospital?" I said, “No.” Another five minutes went by and I was still bleeding.

By then, they had helped me from the bathroom to the bed and I was lying down on my bed bleeding. He said again, "Do you wanna go to the hospital?" Again I said, "No." But without two minutes, they had me on the gurney and I was on my way to the hospital. That happened very quickly. I was not disappointed that they did it that way. I was pleased that they did. But they didn't explain to me at the time. The problem was they could not stop the bleeding. I had to go to the hospital to have doctors do that. She was told the signal was better from the pendant so she needed a new one. She agreed but was confused by that information. I saw a $60 charge on my credit card (I pay annually and this was apparently $10 a month for the 6 months left on the annual service that was already paid for).

I called customer service and was told by the representative that the info about the better signal was false. I then called billing about the charge and was told it was for insurance and that we now had fall protection. I said we didn't want either of those things. He offered to lower the cost from an extra $10 a month to $5 a month but was arguing with me when I said I didn't want the pendant or insurance. I told him I wanted to cancel the whole service now because I feel my mother was taken advantage of by being given false information and pressured into getting the new pendant. They have been very quick. I wear the watch on it. I had hit it several times and it first shocked me to hear somebody else was talking here in the house because I was living alone. When they asked what my emergency was, it would dawn on me that I might have hit the button. So, I just told them that I hit it by mistake and everything was fine.

When I first got Medical Alert, every time you would put the handheld device in the cradle, it would tell you that it was charging. But in about 10 minutes, it’d tell you to charge it again. Then a few more minutes, it's charging again. So there was something wrong. I called Medical Alert and they told me how to clean the contacts on it. I did and it still did it. I called back and somebody else told me to do something else to it, and I did. It still did it. So, they sent me a new one. This new one seems when I take the handheld out to go outside of the house, that the light goes out and I don't know if I have a connection with it through the handheld or not.

The device is a way of keeping in touch and especially with being alone, I can always reach somebody. When I used medical Alert, help came out really fast. Everything's fine now. At this time, I don't have the device that you can take anywhere. Mine is just in the home.

I really like Medical Alert because it's been keeping my husband from falling all the time. He wears the little alert button around his neck every day. If he goes outside, then he puts the big one on. It does help and it keeps me from worrying quite so much about him. If I'm not here, he can always push it. I would recommend it to anybody that has health problems.

I have had Medical Alert for my Mom for many years and the service works. The problem I ran into is I was charged a full year of service to my credit card. I called Medical Alert and requested to cancel my service and that I would need a refund for the unused service. I was informed I needed to send the equipment back to discontinue the service. I received the prepaid postage and mailed the equipment back 6/10/2020.

I was charged a full year of service 5/4/2020 and never received credit for the 11 months of unused service. I now received a delinquent bill notice in the amount of $120.00 on 12/20/2020. I paid a full year and now I'm receiving an additional bill of $120.00 even though the service was cancelled and equipment was returned and I'm still within the prepaid full year of service.

I called Medical Alert and spoke to Loretta ** in billing and she looked up the tracking of the prepaid label provide to me from Medical Alert. Loretta found the tracking had been sent from USPS to another FedEx facility but the equipment never reached Medical Alert. As a result Loretta informed me I would not receive credit from the $359.40 I paid and that the money would go to the lost equipment. WOW!! I'm responsible for the shipping Medical Alert provided. Loretta could not explain why I received an additional bill in the amount of $120.00 even though I was paid a full year. It is obvious this is elder abuse. Had this bill went to my mom of 87 years she would of paid it. Something needs to be done. How many elderly people are being overbilled and paying? Sincerely Gary **.

I started service with this company 6/15/19. I paid $94.43 every three months for service. The last payment I made was on 9/15/20. I called to end service on 9/29/20. On 10/29/20, I returned the device (following instructions) in the original box with a return USPS label provided by the company. The USPS confirmed that the device was in the company's hands on 10/30/20. By 11/24/20, I still did not see a credit in my account. I called to inquire about it. I was told that a credit of only $29.95 would be processed and that it could take up to an additional 25 days. $29.95 represents one month of service when in fact it was returned 6 weeks ahead of the expiration of the pre-paid period. I was told by the customer service representative that they just 'round' up and retain the extra funds! I was also told that, had I not called to inquire about my refund, the company would have retained ALL of my funds! This is unscrupulous business practice.

I just get disgusted. I told my daughter-in-law yesterday, "I just wish I never even got it." I'm 92 years old, and I do my own work and take care of myself. The only reason I got this thing was because the kids were going on vacation and there was gonna be nobody around. When I ordered, I thought it was 19.95. It ended up being about $35. But now, they've got it up to $45.

The only time I used the device was when I didn't notice that it had help on it. I came up one morning from the basement and happened to see it on there. I thought, "Then what have I done to it?" I went and pushed. I thought, "Well, maybe if I push that button, it’ll go off." So, I pushed the button, and here was the emergency squad and the police. They tell you to keep pushing that every month to see if it's all right, but I'm scared to death of it.

What a horrible experience. Got this for my mother who does not live with us, requiring her and my sister to install. Salesperson sold heavily on simplicity of installation and great connectivity. He was difficult to reach during the sale, then disappeared after the sale. The customer service behind this product is worse than the product itself. Extended hold times to get to anyone about setup issues, billing inquiries, etc. How on EARTH can you operate a company that is supposed to respond quickly to seniors falling and the like if you can't pick up a phone in a reasonable amount of time? You can't.

The installation was a NIGHTMARE, the first unit just screeched uncontrollably and scared the you know what out of my Mom. Second unit showed up and could not get connected. All the while they tried to get people to help them on the phone and wound up waiting on hold forever. They shipped a third unit but by that time I had contracted with Medical Guardian, who has a FAR better solution and OUTSTANDING customer service. I am still fighting to get my money back, the latest was that they still had not received all of the systems returned back to them so that they could not cancel, then a 30 minute hold time, THIRTY MINUTES, to speak to someone about cancelling my account.

If you are getting this solution for a loved one, I beg you DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. Your loved one will be in big trouble, these people literally have no company behind the product, no support whatsoever, they will not respond to any calls, your loved one will be in big trouble. Pay the extra money for Medical Guardian, or check out any number of other highly rated companies and solutions. These folks are horrible, DO NOT USE MEDICAL ALERT.

All elderly people should have it. If it goes off, somebody comes on verbally which is good rather than just some machine beeping for somebody else to come and help. The improvement they can do is the distance of coverage. My wife wants to go to somewhere else. We live in Guadalupe and we are about 36 miles from San Luis Obispo, about 10 miles from Santa Maria and about 26 miles from Lompoc. We often wonder if that thing's gonna work. Very often, I'm leaning against something and I set it off. Also, they've got nicer looking things on the market and the Medical Alert device is the ugliest thing. It's got a black cord and a huge black button. I can't wear the wristband that it comes with. That would fit two people. I'm a small person and I've got a tiny wrist.

I don't like being sold the same thing over and over again. A fellow called me and tried to sell me the Medical Alert fall button. I got it which adds $30 to my already $100 and something payment, almost $150. When I got it that day, I opened it up and found a pamphlet with it that tells you right out that this does not detect all falls. So, I didn't even bother to open it. I just left it the way it was, wrapped nicely, folded it back up, and called the company to send me a return sticker. It didn't come for a while. I finally got it and sent the device back. I told them in the note that the idea of trying to sell me something that doesn't work doesn't appeal to me and I'm really angry about that. I felt like I've been sold a bill of goods. They take advantage of the elderly and widows that are on a fixed income.

I kept waiting for it to be credited to my MasterCard but it wasn't. Finally, I called them and asked why haven't I gotten a credit. They said it went to the warehouse and unless I call them, they don't credit it. I've never had this problem before, where if you send it back you don't hear anything unless you call. If you don't call, you don't get your credit. They keep collecting money from you. If I die, my daughter would send it back and she would get charged 150 bucks every three months and she wouldn't know why. I told whoever I was talking to that I'm telling all my friends about this. As far as how the device worked, it was okay. But be careful of further follow-ups about fall devices and also sending it back. Make sure that if you send it back, you follow up with a phone call or you won’t get your money back.
