The Medical Alert team has been great. They were concerned, very helpful, pleasant and very polite. I was very concerned and they make sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to do as far as monitoring the machine and checking it. However, we had a little incident. I'm at my daughter's and it took them about an hour to get to where we were and they weren't very helpful at that time.
After the alarm went off and they didn't show up for almost an hour and a half, they didn't seem too concerned about being late. And so I said, "Well, okay. I'm older and my little granddaughter is there." So I said, "We need better coverage than this." But the Medical alert device is comfortable and convenient. It's there when I need it. There's no problem with it being in the house. It's at a good location. It's a very important item that you will need especially for an elderly person. Everything's working out real well right now.

I usually go to church every morning and if I’m not there, people get worried and if I don’t answer the phone, they get even more worried. I’ve missed the mass then but I was just tired that night and didn’t get up in time. I had the pastor at the door and my sister-in-law on the phone. It alerted me to do something so that they all know that if something is going on, they’ll be the first to know and that I’ll be taken care of. Hence, I got the Medical Alert.
One time I was at a very noisy party at a park. I was leaning across the table to talk to a couple of ladies and I didn’t realize that I had been pushing the alert button. All of a sudden there’s someone at the door looking for someone who may have a Medical Alert button. I said, “Someone’s got one just like me.” And all of a sudden my niece was at the door too. I realized that it was me. The lady said they heard us talking but no one was answering so they assumed that something was going on that was necessary to send the ambulance down. It's a blessing in disguise as I realized I have had to figure some way to wear the device so that it’s not going off on me all the time. So I’m wearing it backwards now so that when I’m pressing against a table, the button is lying on the inside against my body without being pushed and it’s just hitting the backside of the button. It works good.
One evening I tripped in my kitchen and my foot stopped but my head kept going and it hit the door jamb going into my dining room. I realized that my glasses had broken and I saw the lens fall out. I bent over to pick up the lens and I realized I was bleeding. I quickly grabbed a wet towel and put it on my face where it was bleeding. I wouldn’t have used the button if I wasn’t bleeding. I pressed it and they’re supposed to call my niece who lives across the street but I called her myself because she’d get here faster and she did. She came right over and said she has gotten the call on her way over. So I got to her before they did. The ambulance technicians came in and checked out everything. They said that I could call them if I needed them during the night. My niece stayed with me overnight, so it turned out to be fine.
I still work at 83 and I have my own office in a building. I’m there by myself two days a week and sometimes I even get some scary characters coming in. But now that I have the alert button, I’m okay. I just have to press that button and I’m all set. The only negative is that the Medical Alert is cumbersome because it’s just a little gray rectangular box unlike the other ad I have seen that has a little round button that looks almost like a piece of jewelry. But I have recommended Medical Alert to a couple of people. When they see me hit the button, they ask me about it and I tell them where I got it from.

My Medical Alert button is always there and I’ve always got it on. I’ve used Medical Alert once and had no problems. When I pushed my button and the first person comes on then they start calling, it seems like it takes forever for them to answer the phone. But as what my family and friends tell me, when one falls and is sitting alone, having problems, afraid to might have been hurt and can’t get up, it makes one feel like everything takes long. But whatever I called them for wasn’t anything that serious anyway. I used to have another medical alert service which I got when I first broke my hip in ’06 and with it seems like I got a hold of somebody a lot faster than I do with Medical Alert. Because in Medical Alert, it just seems like the phone just rings and rings and rings before somebody answers it.
I am 81 years old now and I had a four-bypass heart attack with double pneumonia in ’08 and broke my other hip in November ‘13. Having the new Medical Alert made me all the more independent now since I was having medical problems for a while even though they’re getting much better. I'm satisfied with Medical Alert and I have recommended them to about three people.

I purchased Medical Alert when my wife died because I was going to be alone. I carry it in my pocket and it's a comfort to have. I test it about every month and it works. It's necessary and I'm glad that I have it. I’ve had satisfactory experience with the Medical Alert team.

I live by myself and my doctor told me that if I ever fall, I’d break every bone in my body so I got a Medical Alert device. I can wear either the alert button necklace or the bracelet. However, whenever I wear the necklace then I can’t wear any other thing, so I use the bracelet when I go out. Their reps are very nice, and I am glad I have Medical Alert.

I live by myself. I then got a Medical Alert, and it's right by my bed. It fell on the floor once and my cleaning lady sucked it up with a vacuum cleaner. When the people sent by Medical Alert came, she couldn't understand their questions as she doesn't speak English, but everything they did was positive. So, I've had a very good experience with it.

I'm 75 years old and I live by myself in a secluded area. I got a Medical Alert device and I wear it on a fairly regular basis. I wear it when I'm outside because my house is located in a wooded area and I could be in my backyard dead for weeks and be rotted and nobody would ever find me. I know that’s gruesome, but that’s the way I look at it. I have one son who lives in Texas and one who lives relatively close to me, but if they called and didn’t get me they would assume that I have gone somewhere. Also, I don’t have anybody who visits me on a regular basis and if anybody drove by and didn’t see me, they wouldn’t know how to look for me. One reason I wanted a Medical Alert device is that if I was outside and something happened, I could manage the button if I was physically able.
I did have some problems when I accidentally hit the thing one time on the bed. It set the thing off and an ambulance came to check on me when I was still in bed and I didn’t even know that it had happened. I did it again in the shower, and it was very embarrassing. That bothered me. I do use the equipment and find it helpful. At least I feel more at ease when I'm in my yard because I am at a very secluded place.

My daughter looked at five medical alert service companies and we liked what Medical Alert had to offer and also their prices. The Medical Alert team is so sweet and understanding - off the charts kind. As we get older, we get clumsy, and I have fallen off the stairs. I have a lanyard that I wear around the house and once in awhile, I bump it and I hear a Medical Alert person talking to me so I have to come in and tell him that I'm okay and that I only dropped or hit the device on something. When electricity goes out in the country where we live, they always come and realize it's a power outage and that the device is always there so I don't have to worry about anything. It has really put my daughter next door and my son who lives in another town at ease. Medical Alert has my daughter's number so in case I fall and can't get to talk to them, they call her immediately.
It's comfortable to wear. It gets in the way sometimes, like when I'm cleaning, so when I don't want it banging to something, I tuck it inside my top. They say I need to wear it when I bathe, but it gets in the way, so I don't. I just take my cellphone in with me and the lanyard in the bathroom so I can get to them if I fall. I have told several of the widow ladies at church to get something like this because some of them have fallen and have laid there for hours because nobody checked on them and they had no way of calling for help. Medical Alert is stellar and wonderful to work with. They don't make me feel like I'm an idiot because I want some protection.

I'm 81 years old and live alone, so I wanted some protection and help if I need it. I have two Medical Alert devices. I use one around my neck that is supposed to cover 400 feet around the house, and I have one for my purse that I can carry and will activate anywhere as long as it's on me. Medical Alert is probably more expensive than some of the others I looked at.

I needed a medical device because I was in bed and I started to turn over, my shoulder went out of place. I got it from Medical Alert and I used it for a while and then the machine wouldn't charge up. I called the team about that and they told me that my machine was not picking me up all the time anyway. They weren't getting the signal or I wasn’t getting the signal was what they said. They told me to return it that’s why I got rid of it. Another thing about Medical Alert that I did not like is it had to be charged up for a long time and the charge did not last that long. I don’t know if it’s the particular one I had was faulty or not, but I wanted something that I could use almost all the time because it’s been my luck that it was on the charger when I needed it. It would go off sometimes when it didn’t need to, but that was because I had moved some way or another.
One time, I was in bed and I couldn’t get out of it. The door was locked. They still had to break my door down, but it was a particular day when I was at home all day and I wouldn't even hear from anybody that particular day. And I’m pretty active, but I take that one day that I don’t actually get involved with anybody. I went through a lot of horrible pain I didn’t have to. I forced myself to get up, which was very painful, worse than birth pains when you're having a baby.
Also, some of the bad things had to do with my location. I can't get the internet out here where I am. There's a tower within walking distance from us. My phone works good but as far as internet’s concerned, there'll be places where the signal’s not going to be ok. Nonetheless, there were still some good things about it. When I pushed the button, there will be an answer that will say, “We'll connect you to other groups.” That’s the only thing I understood about it. I like it and I feel a lot more confident when I had it than I felt beforehand. At the time I got mine, I was very relieved to have it. I think that everybody that lives by themselves needs something because it's dangerous. I encouraged other people to get one while I was using mine. One of my friends was telling me her family got her one for Christmas last year.
I feel just as confident now with the Android watch which I'm using now. I can't just push the button but I can dial 911 only. One of my disappointments with the Medical Alert was at night when I sleep, I couldn’t stand it around my neck, so I put it in my pocket and used it that way. I think I would have been more satisfied if I could’ve put it on my arm.

My mother is 91, gets around with a walker, and lives by herself so we got her the Medical Alert device. I remind her once in a while that it's there in case she needs me, but she never takes it off. Thankfully, we've never had to use it but she accidentally hit the button one time. I visit her every day and occasionally, I'll walk in and the the trouble light is blinking and I'll hit “clear,” and it goes off, and that’s it but I don’t know what that means.

I have no problem with Medical Alert at all except that I've fallen twice and it didn't go off either time, yet I can be sitting in my chair and not touching it but it'll go off. I've hit it against the dishwasher and the washing machine and it went off both times. I got it because I fall a lot and I'm alone a lot during the day but the two times that I've fallen, I didn't push the button because someone was home both times. The button is neither comfortable nor uncomfortable to use, it's cumbersome. Nevertheless, the Medical Alert team was great during the times that I've spoken to them.

I have no trouble with my Medical Alert at all. It's unobtrusive and does its job. I use the saddle or the holster when I take it with me when I leave the house, and then I wear it around my neck in the house. I haven't had any reason to use it yet and hopefully I won't. I did set it off accidentally a couple of times and the man that answered the phone was very nice about it. I have recommended it several times to friends.

Medical Alert is excellent. I live alone and switch the alert systems on in the morning and when I go to bed. When I first got the alert system, I accidentally hit the button. I had my main piece of equipment in my car and when I hit the alert system, I was in the gym and the police came over checking on me so I was very impressed. I'm very well satisfied with the service, however, I've gotten three calls within the last six months saying I can add insurance of $20 or $25 for safe keeping and I don't appreciate those calls. But whenever I called to make sure my services are working, the Medical Alert team has been good. My brother has used the emergency button and their response has been fine, so that's very important.

I tripped over my cat one night, broke my glasses and got bruised from my one elbow right down to my toes. I went down hard and it was a bad experience. Then I got the $104.85 every three months from Medical Alert. I live in a very small place and it's never far from me if I haven't got it on. But the cord bothers me after a while when I got it around my neck. I also put it on the nightstand and sometimes I'll wear it to bed. It's been over a year and I don't want something to happen, but I carry my portable phone with me every room I go to, which is only three rooms. And so if needed, I would press 911, so it's answered.
I've only checked Medical Alert twice in over the years that I've had it just to make sure the green light's on and my plugs are in because the voice comes through so loud when you check it every month. I've had it all this time, which is good but I'm glad I haven't fallen again so I haven't had to use it. It's a great thing but I'm thinking of cancelling it because I could use that extra money. My cat had seven teeth out a month or so ago and with everything that went down with that, it cost me under $2,000. So I need every penny I can get.

My wife's in a memory care and I'm by myself. I wanted a medical alert device, so I don't kick off without being helped. If I fall or I couldn't get out of bed, I got one there, one in the bathroom and one on the kitchen island. I also got the deal where I got a real-estate padlock, and Medical Alert has the combination on record, so I'm all set. I installed and tested it. I've got two remotes - one around the neck which I don't wear, and one around my wrist which I set off accidentally. I could've yelled from wherever I've fallen if I was conscious, so I talked to the gentleman and apologized, and he said "no problem." The system works, and I have confidence in it.

I feel quite safe with the system. It’s easy to use. It’s here whenever I need it and I’m smartening up. I don’t know whether it’s me or just having the machine here. Once in the middle of the night, I had to use my phone to call 911 and the emergency people were here promptly because the fire station is only two and half blocks away, and they were most helpful. But I decided after that that I needed to get Medical Alert so that I can carry it with me wherever I go and if I ever need it, I’ll be able to contact them. I got my new fall button but seldom wear it because every time I fall into my lift chair, it would go off. The Medical Alert team would keep asking if I've fallen and it would take me some time to get my lift chair up to get to it. They would wait, and I could get to it quick enough that they didn't need to send anybody, but they've been very nice to me. I also didn’t realize
I could wear the fall button in my shower until I got my new one. I even have gone over to talk to my neighbor who has since moved, and she didn't realize she just had the regular button and that she could get the fall buttons, too. I'm an elderly and I had a number of falls and broke a hip and a vertebra in the back just prior to using the service. Hard to relate to but I'm still active. I thought it was reasonable to get Medical Alert as it would definitely protect me when I'm out of the apartment. I also like the characteristics of their program. Not long after I had the device, I had a trip across the country. I was in the airport and for some reason, things were activated for several instances while I was still waiting in the airport and it was funny. I was asked if I had a problem and I explained no, everything is fine and that I don't need any services. Recently, I fell and I thought I might need to use the alert button. But then I realized, I was fine and I didn't need it. At both times, I felt confident and it was a comfort to know that it was right there with me and if the time came, when I would need it, it would activate.
I haven't called in to make sure that everything is good so I'm afraid I have not used it properly. I carry the little device that needs to be charged all the time and I wear the pendant faithfully. I would prefer that the cord of the alert button does not show with most of my clothes because I don't wear things that hug the neck so closely. But it's a small price to pay. I'm hoping I never have a need to use it. It's an excellent device for those of us who are getting up in age and particularly those who live alone. Fortunately, I’ve never had to use any of that but I was wearing one and sat down real quickly into a chair. All of a sudden, I hear, “Emergency! Emergency!” and they responded right away. So, I started wearing the other one instead so that if I move quickly, it doesn’t bother them. I wear it always when I’m home so if something happens or I fall, I'd feel safe and protected. So far, I haven’t had any need to call on them to take care of me but that could happen in the future. I’m also supposed to try it out every once in a while with them. My husband is going through some sicknesses and he was not very steady on his feet. He was falling a lot and I have always been that way. I don’t have a good sense of balance. We’re quite a way out. Although there’s a lot of traffic, but I don’t know if anybody would see somebody down and stop and pullover. So, having the Medical Alert is a good thing. My husband wears his device every day because he is outside a lot. We got the one that when he falls, it buzzes. So, he doesn’t have to push the button. We still have the older device where you have to push the button. We use that when we take a shower. They told me I can keep that to use for that purpose, so we do.
We have a lockbox now so they can get in and would not have to tear up the house to get to us. They did come in one time. It went off and I was at church and my husband didn’t know that it had gone off. He looked up and there were five men standing in front of him. Luckily, they had their uniforms on. They had called me but my phone was off so then they called my niece who happened to be in Las Vegas visiting. It was so quick. That alerted the whole family and everybody was scared to death wondering what has happened to us. Overall, I am glad we have it. It’s worth the extra money that we’re putting out a month. It does give me a sense that we’re being taken care of.

I’ve been well satisfied with Medical Alert. I’m here by myself with the two dogs after my husband passed away. But one dog is a little rambunctious and she has knocked me over a couple of times in the past. I have the device that goes around the neck and then the one on the wrist. One time, I went to close one of the drawers in the kitchen and I pushed the device. All of a sudden, I got an alert from whoever was on duty. Then another time, I was carrying something and the device around my neck hit it because I was bracing it against my chest, and the rep came back again. My daughter and I feel safer and more secure now that I have Medical Alert.

I'm very satisfied with my Medical Alert System. They help and give me whatever I need. I live in a senior community of at least 250 apartments and it seems that a few people have passed away only to be found a day or two later. So I decided to get one in case anything happens to me.

Before I got the Medical Alert machine, three or four times I had passed out when I came home. However, I haven't had any problems since I got the device so I haven't had to use it yet. I'm on a routine, have three days a week that I have to go for dialysis and it's four hours every session. It's no fun but apart from that, I got the machine as a precaution if anything happened because I live alone. I have one upstairs and one downstairs. I wear one for around the house and when I come home after dialysis, I put the other one on all night. I'm hoping that nothing happens but if it did, I know I've got it. So it gives me a bit more security. I'm very satisfied and on the day that anything should happen to me, I'm hoping that when I do press the button, it works.

I'm 87 years old who lives alone in an apartment in Wisconsin with poor balance and some back problems who occasionally uses a walker and a cane. I have a couple of friends who have Medical Alert so I decided to get one myself. I put the alert button around my neck and wear it under my shirt. Occasionally, I have to move it over because it scrapes. When I first got this, I had a lanyard that was extremely long and we adjusted it and it still didn't work so, they sent me a new one. I have two now and one is shortened up a bit so I don't hit it on tables and chairs especially on the countertop when I'm reaching for something. I know that if I'm in the car and have an accident, somebody's going to call the paramedics. I still put it on daily even when I have company.
When I first had Medical Alert for the first 10 days, I didn't have the lanyard and I kept bumping it against the table or across my arms, or put a seat belt over it. But I've learned and I haven't had it happen lately. I called Medical Alert this morning because I'm flying back to Wisconsin tomorrow and I couldn't find my papers so I had to call to find out what I should do with the device when I'm flying and how to turn it off. Their team have been excellent and Tiffany, the one I spoke with this morning, was extremely helpful. The paramedic gave me the number to get through to them to see what I should do with the system. They told me how to turn it off and how to reactivate it when I get back in Wisconsin.
There are also pros and cons to it. I don't know if I need it but I use it. I would definitely recommend them. In fact, I have a friend visiting me right now who's thinking about it. I had a very good experience with them and the people, when I have gotten a paramedic alert by mistake, they have been very, very good about it in saying, "Don't worry about it. That's why we're here." They've always been very polite and never give me a bad time when I've screwed it up. The only problem I had is how to cancel the calls because I have so many of them that were coming off here. I've only been able to cancel the call once. Now, what I'm going to do is to push it twice and then the third time, hold it down, and that will shut it off and then I'll just disconnect the battery and take it home. I hope that works. Otherwise, it's going to be packed somewhere and somebody's going to get a phone call.

I have a problem between my thigh and my hip and if I do not have something to walk on, I will fall. And since I have fallen, I have bad knees now and a little bit of bad back. My daughter takes care of me all the time and I figured not to bother her by getting a Medical Alert device. The only time I used it was when I was getting ready to bed and I pushed it. And the next thing I knew, somebody was knocking on my door about 8 o’clock at night and it was dark. I wouldn’t have answered had it not been that I saw the insignia on the man’s uniform. They came in and they were the nicest bunch of men. And so, then, I have a thing at the back door that has numbers on it so that they can get in. And then, the people would call when I do bump something, were very nice. I can’t find better people. I just apologize for bothering them. I’m stubborn and I have learned with carrying this thing to be more careful in not pushing it.
Medical Alert is a very helpful device and it keeps me company. I feel very safe with my alert. If something happens and I get in trouble, I know all I have to do is push a button and they will be here so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Also, when I don't answer when they call, they call my daughter who is just 10 minutes away. Plus, they're really great people. Not a bit irritable, just only helpful and they don’t treat me like I'm something different. I’m so glad that my daughter made me have Medical Alert. I would recommend them.

It's still by my bed in the container, I never wore it, and I've been thinking about turning it back in. My children don't want me to, but I might turn it back in because I've got so many people around me who look after me. People are checking on me and someone looks after me, so I don't feel so afraid right now. I paid for the device for several months when I got it and it's time to pay again, and I try not to run my bills up. I'll give it some thought and see what I decide on. I would recommend it to people. In fact, I did recommend it to one of my neighbors.

And because I go on my own so much, my family decided I needed something that I could get some help if I found myself in a situation. With Medical Alert I feel safer when I'm alone, especially if I'm using the shower.
The alert looks like a fitbit on my wrist but I had a hard time wearing it when I first got it. I wasn't wearing it to bed and in the bathroom. But then everybody said those are the two places I should be wearing it so I do now and I leave it on usually 24 hours a day. Sometimes the plastic will give me a bit of a rash around my wrist so I need to switch wrists and maybe take it off at night once in a while to put some Cortisone cream on those places that kind of breakout. Medical Alert is satisfactory and their staff are absolutely friendly. when I've accidentally touched it, they're always so gracious to say I'm not the only one who does that.

I have severe back pain and had a spinal stimulator put in. One night, I was ready for bed and suddenly realized that my pulse had risen. But I thought, "It'll be all right." I went into the bathroom and all of a sudden, I went into respiratory arrest. I couldn't breathe. There was no air exchange at all. So I quickly turned off the stimulator. I had a magnet that I kept handy and stopped it. But that was all I could do. I pressed the Medical Alert button and was able to tell them I couldn't breathe. They came and a female paramedic checked my breathing. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the emergency room with a CPAP on my face. So I would have died if I did not have a Medical Alert with me.
The second time, my mattress didn't fit well on the frame of the bed. I was lying on my left side, and for some reason, I was gonna turn over to my left side again. And I couldn't do that 'cause I was right near the edge of the bed. I reached and went to turn, and because of the way the bed was, I went out of the bed and hit the floor. I didn't lose consciousness, but when I looked down, there was a pool of blood on the bedroom floor. I looked at my leg and there was at least a three-inch gash deep in it. I didn't know whether I could stand or not at that point. So I called my son to alert him, and he said, "You better press the Medical Alert button 'cause I'm not gonna be able to get there for about 40 minutes." So I did, and they came in and assessed me first and then were able to see if I could stand.
The second time wasn't a life-saving incident, but Medical Alert was marvelous during both times. And when the EMTs came, they checked everything and they have a note written. I'm large and they have it noted that they need to send the fire department also so that they have an extra hand or two to lift me if I have to be lifted.
The other day I was doing the wash, and I bent over the machine to put my clothes in and it swung and hit the washer. The alarm went off, and I didn't know it 'cause I was outside of the building. A little light lit up on the necklace, so I called immediately when I got in the house and told them I was alright. But they got the alarm and the squad was on its way. Medical Alert is life-saving, and when I was in a restorative place in Port St. Lucie, almost every patient that I talked to said, "You better have Medical Alert because this is what happened to me." It's about 100% and they all say the same thing.

I was recently widowed, living alone, and past 80 years old. I knew that I probably should have a medical alert system and once my daughter suggested that I get one, I did and I've been essentially very happy with it. However, it came with a big honkin'-lookin' black cord. I'm already 5'6" and the chain is so long, it would almost hit the pubic bone. So, I shortened it and tied a knot but it looks less than what I would like. I bought a very inexpensive chain but it makes my neck green so I need a chain that won’t do that.
I haven’t had any sort of emergency but I just wear it. One time I flew to Boston to visit one of my children, I got stopped through security at the airport because the alert was hidden under my blouse. All I had to do was show the screener that it was a Medical Alert item. And she said, "Next time you go through security, pull it out and leave it hanging out for us." I've done that with no problem.
When I purchased it though, I was told by the guy I was talking to that to check the system monthly, I was just to press my button and someone would answer. I was doing that but one time I did that five months ago, I got chewed up royally. I'm supposed to be calling a number but I didn't have it. They gave me the number and I've been using it since with no problem at all but I just felt that I didn't need to be chewed up when I didn't know any different. Nevertheless, my experience with Medical Alert has been very satisfactory.

It also made her feel much more secure when weren't home. Everything was fine and I have recommended them. However, I returned it and I haven't gotten my check back because I paid for the year. If only my Medical Alert would work right. The first device I had helped when I had fallen and really cracked my head on my end table and bled all over. I kept pushing the button and when I finally got up for a minute to give them a chance to catch up, they said, "We have somebody on the way over there." They were very good as far as my using that.
Then I asked for a new one, not realizing that it's good for only 36 hours before I have to charge it. But it doesn't even give me 24 hours of service before it's telling me, "Please hang it up on your charger." I was 30 miles away from my house when it told me that and it ended up going off when I'm not doing anything. With my original device, the charger was separate at my table. I had to take the charger with me and half the time, I forget to take it, or if I do take it, I forget to put it back on. But with this new one, I could wear and take it with me, and if I fall or end up leaning on it, it's supposed to let them know automatically. But it doesn’t keep the charge for 36 hours. So I really am very, very disappointed in this. I think they’re doing very ** with me.
And when I talked to the Medical Alert people one time, they can't help me to resolve what my problem is. So I would like somebody in the billing department. My daughter was paying for this but it’s costing me extra for this new thing. I still have my old one but, of course, it’s been shut down. If I can turn it back on again, I will.

When I first got the Medical Alert device I had not read the rules and I didn't know how to use it. There was some static on the TV at the time so I thought it was the alert thing that I had just put on and so I took it off and laid it down on the table. Then in a few minutes came the fire department. I shouldn't lay it down. I either should wear it or turn it off. Another incident happened. I was asleep and evidently, I pressed against it and the phone rang and they asked me if I was all right. I assumed I had pressed against it and it had gone off. I don't know how or why it would have done that, but it hasn't since. Also, several months ago I was in the shower and the phone rang and they wanted to know if I was all right. I said, "Yes" and they said, "Well, the alarm went off." I said I was in the shower. They had me go through some talking with the monitor on the stand, then they sent me a new one. I've been wearing it and so far, it's worked.
I have to remember to take the device wherever I go, so I clamp on the carry-on case to my purse. I also take the device with me when I go shopping. Every time I get in the shower, I hope it doesn't short out because it had once, but so far it hasn't. It hasn't presented any problem at all other than I have to remember to take it with me. Sometimes when I'm outdoors, I think I'm too far away from the monitor. What I don't like about it is that black cord. It hangs there down to my bellybutton. I know it can be shortened but I don't like it and it's ugly, so I bought a silver chain and hang it from that and that's worked real good so far.

I enjoy having it as it makes me feel secure. I don’t like it around my neck though. I need it on my arm. They shipped me another one but it's too small. Then they sent me another one and it’s still too small, except the first one was a black band and the second one was white and that’s not what I wanted. I wanted one big enough to go around my arm but I still hadn’t got it. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

The only complaint I have is that the calls come through as unknown caller or private caller. I have caller ID and ordinarily, I just don't answer the phone. When I set off the alarm on the necklace, I didn't realize it. The first time I did it, I had gone to the kitchen and turned the garbage disposal on. However, I did happen to answer when they called my cell phone. It was an unknown number to me and no caller ID. I've had four false alarms because I keep forgetting that I have it and I sometimes lay on it. It does call for help and they've been very good. I know that Medical Alert would be there if I really needed them. It gives me peace of mind.

I have hearing problems and Medical Alert was a big help to me and my wife when she was still alive. She was falling on several occasions and pushed her button, and I had the device right by my bed and responded to her fall. So it worked out real good. My wife passed away in October, but I'm still using the equipment because I have dizzy spells every once in a while and I'm prone to falls. It's working fine and I'm satisfied with it.
It'd be nice to have it no matter where I went, but that's more money and I'm not going to mess with that right now because I have a cellphone with me most of the time, although I realize I wouldn't be able to use the cellphone if I fall and hit my head, so I'd have to take a chance that somebody else would be able to assist me.I've had fewer worries especially at night time. But, the only thing I worried about is when I'm in the shower in my basement and accidentally bumped the button so I wouldn't be able to hear it down there if the alarm went off.

I had an emergency before and I live alone. I was fortunate that I was able to knock on a window and catch the attention of a neighbor. However, I didn't want to rely on that should that happen again, so therefore I got the alert. Even though I haven't had to call them, I have more peace of mind because of having the device. It serves the purpose I got it for. I would definitely recommend Medical Alert.

Being elderly and living alone, I thought that having an alert device was the best route to go. Now, I carry my Medical Alert with me all the time. I wear it like a necklace and it's very attractive, but it only goes as far as 600 feet, so I have another alert device in my purse. Also, the bracelet hangs in my shower, so I'm covered. I had to call them last October and they responded beautifully. I have less worries because I know that if I fall, I'm going to have help.

I got the Medical Alert device due to my age. They called me once because they detected a fall but I was only doing some house work and something must have touched the device which I was wearing around my neck. When I go out I carry the chargeable one (I can't talk into the one around my neck) with the charger in my purse so they can contact my son or my next door neighbor if anything happens to me. I'm glad I got the device. I'm happy with it and have less worries since I feel protected having it.

I keep my Medical Alert charged every day and it works. I used to keep one of the devices either on me or close to me when I’m particularly home alone. Basically, I carry it when I go outside, if I remember. Thank goodness I haven’t had an excuse to use it. One time, I had it in my pocket and I hit it with my elbow when I sat down. I knew when that happened that it worked. I called in yesterday to make sure it’s all right. It’s been fine and if I have a friend that has something happened, I would recommend it.

I had a roommate before but he left, so now I live alone. I was getting sicker and sicker and I fall frequently but I feel very comfortable knowing that if I have a fall and I can't get up to get to my phone, my Medical Alert device is here. I paid for a year of service and it's great because I don't have to worry about it. I've had two minor falls but I've gotten much stronger and healthier and I'm eating better now. When I lost the main button, I waited till the next day when it would be quiet to call their staff but the battery was dead. It was too late for them to send out a signal so I'm glad I have the insurance for it. Now I got a new one and their team has been more than gracious. I've had to call Medical Alert three times. The first was when I signed up on March 13th of 2015, and it was a satisfactory encounter. Second was eight weeks ago and Medical Alert's response was slow in picking up the phone while I was having a heart attack. The phone just rang and rang and no one had picked it up for a while. Third encounter was yesterday and it was unsatisfactory too.
I was calling because my bank called me yesterday to tell me that a point of sales transaction had come in for $479 from Medical Alert. I didn't know anything about it but my bill was apparently due on the 13th of March but they said they always bill on the 1st. So I paid $479. But my problem is when I signed up, Medical Alert gave me three months of promotion which would've made my bill not due until June. But I couldn't get a straight answer as of the moment. They completely twisted what I was trying to accomplish and I didn't feel well so I just said I will call them back.

A year and a half ago, my 88-year-old mother fell, broke her hip and couldn't get back up. I just left the house then. She had her cell phone with her so she called me and I came back. That's what started this whole thing with Medical Alert. She wears the device on her wrist since she didn’t like the one around the neck. She also didn't like that it was all black, so she went to her jeweler and had a gold stretch watch band put on it. Although the part that she pushes is still black. We tested the device a couple of times when we ordered an upgraded version and when she hit it by accident a few times, the Medical Alert guys responded over the device's speaker and asked if everything was okay. So we know that it works because of that. We have also recommended them to a couple of people.

I have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and sometimes my balance and bone density is not good, so falling is an issue. The only thing is that Medical Alert should have the fall button included in their package deal instead of having to purchase it separately. When I purchased mine, the fall button wasn’t even an issue until they offered it. The fall button is very important but it’s nickel-and-diming, so I can’t afford to do that. Other than that, Medical Alert has been very good for me when I call to check on my machine to see if it’s still working and they still can find me. I have the wrist band and I put it on like it's a watch. I take a shower with it, and I can go out and drive and still be protected.

So far, my interactions with their representatives have all been smooth. I had called in once when I was going down to Fort Lauderdale. I wanted to know if I needed to take my equipment with me or if I need to let them know. And they said, "No, we'll find you wherever you are." That's a very secure feeling for someone that's 80 who lives alone and has had a couple of surgeries. That's very helpful and I'm trying to live alone as long as I can.

I've tested it and they responded within two or three minutes to see if I'm okay. I had recommended Medical Alert, and the only problem I had was that they didn't notify me when my one-year contract was up in December. They should have sent me a letter. Good thing I keep in touch with my bills and my credit is good. And with our Canadian dollar going low, I paid $597 for the year. I think this was quite a lot - considering Medical Alert released a Canadian one on TV that might go a little bit cheaper, but the price was high for me as a senior citizen with a low income.

My wife has used her Medical Alert several times and the call-back came immediately. On several occasions, the police were summoned to come and check for her because the usual case is she falls and couldn’t get up. The police came and helped her up. I’m on the list of calls and on one or two times, I’ve had a call from the organization. As far as I’m concerned, they were on top of things.
She wears the wrist piece most of the time. There were a couple of times that, especially when I’m going to be around in the house with her, she’ll take it off because she does say it can be somewhat annoying but it’s like anything you’d use everyday and typically, it’s not bothersome. The only limitation I find with it is that it’s only good within 200 feet of the unit -- in the house and the yard. But overall, this medical alert does what it was intended to do and I can’t ask more than that.

It's a very comforting feeling that they're there, always checking on the condition of their equipment. Before having Medical Alert, I had Lifeline and I didn't like it. It was cheap and they charged me a hundred dollars just to come down here and set it up when I could have done that myself. They just came, dumped it off and plugged in to two places. The electricity went off so that set that thing off. I hollered and they checked it up. But it was no good, so I took it back. Medical Alert is way nicer and I set this one up myself.
I was in bed twice and it went off. Also, I bumped into something outside and it went off. But then I got in and cleared it. I'm wearing it all the time. They sent me an extra necklace and a wrist band and the alarm that I wanted to take in my car or pocket when I leave home. One time when I went up on the mountain and had to go pee, I got out of my car about 20 feet. I was squatting down and fell on my head I couldn't get up, and that's the reason I bought it. But I haven't used any of them. They're still in the box and I was just wondering if I could just send them back and not charge me so much.
There was also one night, when I didn't have the medical alert yet, that I was feeling really strange and my son was here but he didn't offer to stay. I got right up and went to bed, I didn't even stop to take my pills. I went into the bedroom and fell over backwards. I remember hitting my arm on the knob of the dresser and my head hit the vent of the air conditioner. I laid there a little bit and then I raised my head up as far as I could to see what kind of predicament I was in and what to do to get up. It's like someone slammed my head harder so I got right back down on that vent and I didn't wake up till the next morning. I struggled to reach the telephone and dialed a number I couldn't see. My internet provider came on the line and helped me.
However, Medical Alert ain't going to keep me from falling. I went out to the freezer last night and fell in the corner. I called for help but then they couldn't have gotten in the house since they got no key to come in. But they probably wouldn't have thought to go out. They followed it though since I wear the one with GPS on it.
The only problem I have is that the cord around my neck is too long. They could tape it or reduce some so it don't stick in the neck. Also, it should have a deal that one can speak into it instead of having me hurry from the bedroom to pick their telephone. It would be easier for me to the monitor if I could take it back in the bedroom by my telephone. But if I had to use this medical alert, it would’ve been good.

They cut in and I said, “No ambulance, no ambulance, testing equipment,” and here comes the ambulance at my door -- that was so fast! I went to the door and said, “You had to be around in the community somewhere to get here that quick." And then told him, "I am so embarrassed because I begged them not to send an ambulance.” He said, “That’s okay. You don’t owe us anything. We knew there was no emergency here.” So it's good. It seems they didn’t pay any attention. But Medical Alert is a good service and I’m glad to have it. I feel very comfortable with it. I wear the bracelet at night and my necklace in the daytime. I called Medical Alert because my husband was very ill and needed that kind of thing. He had had a fall. And we did most of our business over the phone. A young man came to see me. His sales presentation was very professional and I was very happy with it. We went with Medical Alert and it's a relief that they're there if you need them. We never did have to use Medical Alert in an emergency though. The alert button was touched accidentally twice and everything worked out fine, almost immediately.
The alert button only works within the confines of our yard and home, so we don't wear it when we leave. But my husband wore it all the time around his neck since we got it until he passed away. I'm going to leave Medical Alert when our time with them runs out, and by then I may be in another residence. The problem is, I wasn't aware that they were an American company. If I had my choice again to renew, at the end of our time with them I would go with a Canadian company.

I got Medical Alert because I had a bad fall. I laid on the floor all night not being able to get anybody to hear me. That was my wake-up call because I have thought about it before, that I should have a medical alert device where I live alone. I feel better because I know I can reach somebody if anything bad happens again. My device is like a necklace I wear around my neck. I do have it with me all the time. There's a little button in the center that I push if I get in trouble. It does give me comfort to know I've got something but it doesn't cover all scenarios that might happen.
I've heard about other models that you don't have to push a button. It has a sensor so that if you fall or you're in trouble, it picks up what's happening without you having to push a button. It came across my mind that if I would be unconscious, the device I have isn't that much help because the button wouldn't be pushed. So, I don't know whether I made a very wise choice or not but it seemed any people I talked to has the push button model and not having had any experience, I just went with it. Overall, I'm happy with the device I have as far as what it provides. I haven't gotten into any trouble or need any help and everything has been fine so far.

I had no problems getting my Medical Alert device. The minute I called, I got it in three days. I was having syncopal episodes and I live alone, so if I got knocked out or hit my head and I couldn't get up, I wanted to be able to call someone. The only thing I've done with my device though is test it because I haven't had a need for it, but every time I do, they answer in 15 seconds, then it works and I can have a two-way conversation with them. I set out the one that I can wear on my belt, the one I can wear around my neck, and the one that's on my wrist. It's nice that I only have to check once and it checks all three at the same time. I haven't had any problems with the device lately, but I still need it around. I never thought I was gonna need one but before I retired I encouraged my patients to use it.
The system has GPS that goes all the way around the country. The Medical Alert team told me it’s much better if I call before I leave for my vacation and tell them in what state and city I'm in. That's convenient, but they can tell by the GPS where I am and what place I have preference for. It works if I'm in a parking lot and if someone's following me, I can just push the button and talk to somebody and they send the police. I can use it in my sisters in Dallas, Delaware, and New York. I can use the device all over. It's also very light.
I used to have a different system but I found out it was the same one only that it was bought out and it changed to a different name, and it annoyed me that they said I have to put the equipment in the same box when I return it. When I did my will and the cremation papers, I put the stuff for my brother all in one place and told them where it was and to use the same box. I put a picture of everything he had to put in it, with the regular packaging. I had to pay $298 if I don't send it back the same way I got it because it was free when I first did. But it went up to $398.00, and also, they raised my regular price to $46.
I said I have a piece of paper that says it's $298 and also it's $39.99 for the rest of my life or until I discontinue or don't pay for it. I said the equipment I have is only worth $298 and I didn't sign a contract, so they made it $298. They were nice and they settled it right away. They gave me to Customer Service, it was changed, and I never had a problem on my bank account as it comes automatically out of my checking account.

My husband needed protection and we chose Connect America. It went well for about 1 year and then they changed systems or something. They did not notify us of account number change or address change. Our payments were sent automatically from our bank. For nearly 3 months they claimed they did not receive the payment and the bank had to send them a fax of the canceled check. Sometimes they called twice a day or several times a week. After the matter was finally settled, I received a notice that our account was past due. That was the final straw I thought. We changed to a much better company, better service and better fees. I returned the equipment and send payment for the final month. It has been 8 days.
Now they claim they did not receive their equipment and I needed to provide a tracking number which is now not available. Before I mailed the package I called them to get the correct return address. It will be interesting to see how aggressively they pursue this new harassment because I will contact the attorney general and report them as extremely unable to handle elderly people and understand their circumstances. Their system has segmented business practices where no one knows what the next person says or does. No two people can tell you the same thing. This company does not deserve a penny for or from the elderly of our country.

I live alone and my kids thought I should get services from Medical Alert. I wear the alert button around my neck, put it under my clothes, and it doesn’t bother me a bit. My only concern is that I’ve never checked it out. They said I'm supposed to do it once a month, but I’m a little leery of doing it, and I'd rather have them check with me if it works than having to do whatever I'm supposed to do to check it. Also, I got a box to put on the outside of my house but nobody has been able to figure out how to do that. Other than that, I'd recommend them.

I'm very happy with the company of Medical Alert except that they are slow and I'm not pleased with that wait. When I push the button, I wait for them. It takes forever for them to answer. I've never tried them because there is something wrong when you push the button. But I like the service, they've helped me when I've had used it for an emergency. I'd recommend them.

Medical Alert service has been good and we feel more secure since using them. My wife is the one who uses the button and she uses the one around the neck. They sent us a bracelet also, but we haven't used it. My wife has fallen several times, so that was the big concern. So we got the Medical Alert button so she could have it available and we can have that security when I'm out of the house, since I do have to leave for doctor's appointments and other things. Fortunately, we haven't had to use it for emergency purpose.
We've had good communications with Medical Alert. We called periodically and keep track of when we call to check the service. However, until yesterday, for some reason, a light comes on out there on that box. It says "in trouble." I can't read anything in the manual on how to get rid of that. The brochure says something about a low battery, but I don't know where our battery is. I will be giving them a call to see what causes this light to come on, if it's the battery, and how I can change it.

My children wanted me to have the medical alert because I live alone. I haven't had to use it but so far it's been very positive. I used a different service provider before but Medical Alert is very good. I can go anyplace and I am able to come and go as I please and not have to worry.
Hi Alice,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a response. We love hearing from our valued customers.

I had a loss of balance so I would fall, and sometimes I would need assistance to get up. I wore the Medical Alert button around my neck wherever I went and all I had to do was push the button. I felt more safe with it. I had both the one that goes around the neck and the wrist, but I didn't wear the one for the wrist. They also had the key box you put on your door. That was good and convenient in case I needed somebody to come in and I am not able to come to the door, they could get in.
I used the alert once to call 911 because I couldn't get up and the emergency services that they provided to me was excellent. Medical Alert was there when I needed it. It's what it's for and I enjoyed it. The only thing is I couldn't afford the price, so I had to let them go and looking for a cheaper one. I paid them on the 1st and sent the equipment back on the 3rd, and they promised me a reimbursement because I didn't get to use the service that much. They have never given me my money back and owe me some money.

My grandmother passed away a few months ago. She had medical alert. A neighbor told me that Medical Alert contacted them to collect on a past due bill. So, I called Medical Alert and was able to locate my grandmother's account. I informed them she was deceased a few months ago and as the executor of her will and estate, I'm attempting to close all her accounts. Well, they said I would have to pay the balance that was due since her passing because the services are not free. If I don't pay the balance, then they said they would send it to collections and they would come after me and my credit. They are trying to continue to take advantage of my grandmother, after her death. This behavior, along with the high prices of the service, is immoral and disgusting. Medical Alert is making money by preying and scamming on the elderly.

Customer service staff are either extremely poorly trained or this company has a policy of stonewalling about refunds. First, the return label for the unit could only be sent to my mother's address, which had to be forwarded to me and delayed return till I could get back to her house two months later. Then they claimed they hadn't received the unit, but found it. They said I would get a refund of the balance of $89.85 within 30 days. When I called on the 30th day they said they were "behind" and would expedite the check. I then got a check for $59.90. When I called to complain that the amount was wrong the person hung up on me. I called back, went through voice mail jail again and had someone say, "I don't know who told you you had $89.85 coming, but you're not going to get it." The profit to grief ratio for fighting over this $30 is not good, so this time they win. I'd just like to warn people against them.

My mother died in June and I called to cancel the service. I mailed the equipment back as requested and the company continues to charge my account without my permission. After being charged twice and called by me they continue to charge my account claiming they never received the equipment. My father died two months after my mother so things at my house are pretty scattered. I am not able to find the receipt and now have been told that they are keeping the money. This was after I told on two different occasions that it was in the process of being refunded! Do not give your bank info to this company.

After almost a year of being a customer I asked them if they had a fall detection button. My mother had not needed one prior to this time. I was very happy when they said they did and would send it to me. Over a week later it had not arrived. I had to call again. This time they sent it and when it arrived in their own booklet of instructions it says 'Do not wear your fall detection pendant while sleeping. Please wear your alternate button or keep it nearby your bed'.
I then called to double check that this was accurate, one person had no idea how it worked, another said yes that was true. I then asked them what I need to do to cancel. They told me to call customer relations when I wanted to cancel and they would send a pre-paid FedEx label to send the equipment back. Because we needed a pendant that could be worn at night, we decided to go with another company that has a fall detection pendant that you can wear all day and also to bed. No switching pendants or putting on a table by your bed.
I called them to cancel and again was sent to someone different than their customer service rep who answered the phone. By the way the person who answered the phone asked why I was cancelling. I explained about how my mother was not able to wear the pendant at night and would have to switch pendants etc, she said "you need to tell them that is the reason." She also said she didn't know that was how it worked.
I was transferred to Shane from customer relations, he was not happy I was cancelling. Again I explained why. He said "you can wear it to bed." I told him it literally said in their printed material you could not and we had already decided to go with another company. I also told Shane I had called their company and someone verified what was printed, that you cannot wear it to bed. If you do it will take getting into bed as a fall and you will get false alarms.
I asked for a prepaid FedEx label to be sent. Shane told me they do not do pre-paid labels and I had to pay to send the unit back. I mailed it back and will be watching the account for additional charges. I am hoping they do not continue to charge the account, if so I will have to add to this review. Bottom line: Every time you call you get a different person, different people tell you different things. They directly contradict what is written in their instruction booklet, and when you want to cancel they are very rude. I would NOT recommend them.

I am disappointed and disgusted at what happened to my mother on 1/26/15 when she fell in the bathroom. She laid on the floor for 2 hours because after she pressed the button the first time the "professional" did call 911 but did NOT tell them where the key was, her age or the dogs barking would not hurt them. This was just updated several months ago. The EMTs left!!!! She then rang again. I did not have my cell phone on the floor where I worked and when I got back to the office I had 2 messages. I did not know at that time if she was dead or alive. I left to get home.
On the way I did get a 3rd notice and met the EMTs at my house. WE found my mother on the floor in the bathroom. They were very upset that no one from this company told them about where the key was. I called your company and the first person said they had no information on where the key was. I asked for a supervisor who said she had that information and didn't know why the 1st operator did not have it. From that point on my mother's condition got worse. She passed away 2/10/15.
Now I get all these instructions on cancelling her account. Why should I pay to send it back? Why do I have to pay for a service that was worthless to us until they get the equipment back? I called again and waited 15 minutes with the tracking number and was told by a rude operator that it would take another 10 days to cancel once they get the equipment?? Are you kidding me. I would NEVER recommend this company. It is unacceptable that someone who counts on your company to help with falls would not know where the key was. What a waste of money. It's bad enough to have such a bad experience but then to go through all this hassle to send equipment back is again unacceptable.
