Medical Alert seemed like a viable option. It was almost more than half the price less than Life Alert. Still did the same thing with it. I've been able to see that the basic response time is about the same as it was with Life Alert. We check it every first of the month. We press either the actual Medical Alert button or we push the button that is on my mom's pendant. The device has been reassuring. Also, the reps have been very courteous and professional, and able to answer questions I need.

The reps always do what they're supposed to do. But I got a phone call from them and they were trying to sell me something. I didn't have time to talk with them but they signed me up anyway. That was a little aggravating because I didn't finish the conversation and they were charging me anyway. I got my device as a precaution to have somebody that I could get in touch with that would get some help for me if I were to fall too far away from a phone. I don't take it off for anything except when taking a bath.

Medical Alert is like insurance. If I have it, I wouldn't fall. But if I don't have it, I would fall. When I talked to the guy, he wanted $20 a month and I said that was not possible for me. He lowered it to 10. The fellow told me that I would get a new thing to put around my neck. I still have the old machine.

Medical Alert just called to check in and make sure the device works as well as to make sure my mother is happy. She's had this for a very long time and we've done well with it. She has used the device and it was a great experience. She likes the help button. She has it around her neck all day long and puts it right next to the bed at night. Should people need something like that, they should definitely go with Medical Alert.

Then they got some people in there that were kinda goofy, and the man took some of the benefits away from me, and he was difficult. He tried to push me. I had a lady come on, and she settled it all out. She got me set and I got her number. So, if I have any more problems, I gotta call her.

The 1st of March, I fell and had to use Medical Alert to get the ambulance and everything went well. The police officer was here in minutes and the emergency unit came quickly also. It was in the middle of the night so they could get here a little faster. But I was very happy to hear from the police officer. I would have laid here for a long time before I could have gotten ahold of anybody because I broke my hip. So, it's the convenience of having that around your neck, to be able to punch it in. I was very happy with it. The response was great.

One time, I was in my sleep, I may have laid on my Medical Alert device and I didn't know I had done that. There was a lady on the front porch. Instead of saying, “Medical Alert. Open the door,” she kept saying, “Open the door! Open the door!” I thought, “I am not gonna open this door.” She didn't identify herself. It really scared me to death. She kept standing on her toes. When I did look out to the right, I could see through the blind, but I couldn't see to the left where the driveway was. She didn't have an ambulance or something alerting anybody or me or anyone. Then I said, “I'm not gonna open this door. What do you want?” She did not answer. I guess she thought, “It must be her.” So, she gave it up. I didn't get a phone call or anything.

After it happened, I looked out past to my left and there was not a ambulance or a car with a light on it. So, it kinda surprised me because you would think that if I had to use my Medical Alert, it would be someone with some sort of flashing light or a siren. To this day, I am still baffled if it was a really Medical Alert. I'm now very careful when I roll over in my sleep. I have it on because I don't wanna have to fall in the house without alerting someone. Other than that, occasionally, I will get a phone call saying the battery is low. Medical Alert got a system now that you have a phone number. I'm supposed to update or call them up every month to alert them that the device is working. I hope if and when I have to really use it in an emergency, they will be there for me.

I was afraid if I fell, I had no one in the house to help me and how would I call the EMTs for medical service? So I said, "Medical Alert would be perfect for me." After I shower, I get dressed, I put it on and wear it all day until I go to bed. And I charge it again. It gives me a sense of security. The only thing is they sent me the wrist one which is no good because it keeps opening up and falling down. It's a no snap, very cheap plastic wristband. The one I use all the time is the one that's on the white charger. I could take it to any place, in the car, out to a restaurant because I wear it. And if anything, I press a button and I get help. I called Medical Alert the other day because I was putting in the code for the lock box to remove it temporarily, and I couldn't get it open. The rep helped me over the phone. And it was wonderful.

However, I thought I was getting some place and this lady would call me back and explain whatever this $10 or $15 was. She never called me back and I couldn't get ahold of her. So, I just paid it when the Medical Alert bill came in. Also, the device is a nuisance. I don't like that hanging around my neck at night, but I keep it right on the night table. I could just reach it and it's there if I needed it. But it's a very heavy thing and it seems to be a lot of things that you have to plug in to make it work. And it's a waste of time because when I get in the shower, I never put that watch on either. Hopefully, I don't have to use it. It's too much anyway.

I set my Medical Alert off two times in a few days. I didn't even know it went the first time, but I was so embarrassed. I had it on my arm, and we were playing games, and I didn't know what I did. Next thing I know, my son-in-law came here. I was in the dining room, we were playing games, and I thought, "Oh, my goodness." I solved the problem by using a chain. I had a locket on it, and I put it on there, and that works well. I put it so the button itself is against my skin. I just put it around my neck, and that works better than anything else that I had. People can even hardly tell the difference because it's black and it looks almost like some piece of jewelry. It's all right to have it. I feel a little bit more confident.

The people from Medical Alert were great. Even the emergency people came to the door and I was so embarrassed. They said, "Well, I can see you're fine." I said, "Yes, I am." They were very nice. They said, "Oh, it happens," and I didn't get charged for it. One thing I wasn't happy about is this gal pushed this $10 thing on there a month for some kind of insurance on the equipment. I said, "I don't need that." Then, I got charged on that for a while until I told the guy that called, "Be sure and take it off." So, I'm hoping it's off there.

The one I have is large and heavy and I have to carry it in my pocket. I don't wear it around my neck. Also, they went up in price. I've been paying $119 every three months. They said this month they're gonna out $45. I hope they don't keep going up because I won't be able to afford it. Other than that, they always answer. Sometimes, I accidentally punch the device and they'll call to see if I’m all right.

I fell in my neighbor's house sometime this month. I was blessed that I didn’t get hurt worse. They called Medical Alert for me, and they came pretty quickly and took me to the ER. They checked me out, X-rayed me, and everything. I'm pleased with the service so far.

Medical Alert have have always answered if I’ve had to call 911 a couple of times. But it’s got to where I'm afraid to wear this neck thing. Every time I move, it goes off and I have to jump up, run to the phone, and tell them to not send nobody since there's nothing wrong. In fact, I’ve got it laying on my end table right now because I'm afraid I’ll hit it and make it go off. And I don't feel like running to the telephone and explaining to them. I have jumped up $15 a month before the coverage and they didn't tell me it was going up. The device has been sitting here for three-years and I can’t understand why they keep adding to it.

When I called them, the first thing they said was if I wanted it cancelled. I told them that I didn't, I just wanted to know why I was getting a $15 a month charge. They commented that my equipment is insured if something happens to it. But it was insured before. I told them that I didn't want to pay $15 every month and I wanted to pay ever six months after Christmas. They figured it up and said it would be $209 and something every six months. I’m thoroughly disgusted with our plan. For six months, it’s $209 and that's outrageous.

The reps are courteous and they just put it in as a false alarm.

The Medical Alert is a good thing if I need help. But I really don't like having to carry the device that goes around my neck with the watch. I just want the watch. The watch itself is good but you have to carry the other piece with it in order for the watch to work. Also, I have to charge the other part every day.

She spent a week on the hospital, 2 weeks in rehab and died at the beginning of June. I called the company to cancel her service. A couple weeks ago, I mashed my emergency button by mistake, and I had to let them know that it was not an emergency. The people in the office are very friendly and take care of situations if I have any. Everything is right on top, and everybody reports in on time. They were here on time in case I didn't get the alert.

I just got a new fall pendant, and it's very sensitive. When they sent this to me, they did not tell me exactly what to do about it and that's something that needs to be improved. When I took it off and went to bed at night, the alarm went off on its own. They came out here to see me, and I didn't even touch it. It went off two times with me until I finally called in and questioned them about it on the phone. A young lady told me, “Well, you have to put it on something soft.” That's a very important issue, especially when you're 92 years old, and they don't tell you that in the paperwork. They just said, “Put it on your nightstand.” Medical Alert is wonderful, but they should send paperwork that tell you to put your pendant on a soft surface when you take it off, especially when it's for the fall.

I don't wear it anymore. It was doing too many false alarms and I got tired of it. It wasn’t malfunctioning but it was too easy to make it send an alarm. I just brush against it somehow and it would go off.

I fell one day last year on the sidewalk and before I hit the ground, Medical Alert answered. They helped me right away. That was the only time I’ve had to use it. But it came in handy. I really like it. It’s a lifesaver. I have the chain necklace and it rubs my neck raw a little bit. So I’m always wondering if they have any different kind.

Customer service called the house and my mother told them it was not an emergency. This device works fine and it's worthwhile. We've been satisfied with it. Everyone we've talked to has helped us resolve any issues that we've had.

I got diagnosed with this SVT condition where my heart speeds up out of nowhere. One night, I was thinking that there must be something where I could push a little button and people could pinpoint where I'm at in case of an emergency. I looked it up and found Medical Alert. I've done a test once a month with them and they're pretty good. Some are faster than others. I keep the device in my house right now and I take it when I go on to that dead zone where there's a two-hour drive and there's nothing there. This is just in case something happens. Go with Medical Alert. I'm happy with it.

I hate all these chains around my neck but somebody said I could get the device for my wrist. I said that wouldn't work out with my small dog because he sits on my lap all the time. I’ve set off the button a couple of times and I told the response team that it was a mistake. I asked them if they could do my monthly check because of that call. They were nice. I've already recommended Medical Alert to a friend who is a lot younger than I am and she lives alone. But she hasn't made any response and doing anything. But it's okay.

I talked to somebody in the billing department because I don't like the way they're doing the service. I added the fall buttons and they added another $5.25 charge and I don't know what that was for. But it comes every month and it comes off my checking account. I don't know when that's coming and my whole checking account is screwed up. I get my statement, and then it'll show that I've had it. But by then, I've written out five more checks. So, I asked them to just send me a bill, and I'll write a check out and pay it. They said they would. I'm very satisfied with Medical Alert. My daughter is coming in the beginning of August and I’m gonna talk to her about it.

Medical Alert called me right after I got it, and I set things up myself. When I dropped it, it set off the fall alert and we've had it checked three times because of it. It's real sensitive. I haven't had to use my it, but that has a good signal. I had another medical alert, First Alert, and it was lousy because they only went on AT&T. I don't get AT&T, only about a mile from the house. The alert for in the house was good, but the outside alert didn't do me any good.

My washer and dryer is downstairs and I feel safer when I go down my steps with the Medical Alert on. I also have it hanging in the bathroom when I do the shower. I don't have a lot of money and I hate to pay that much but I feel that I need to have it. I used it for what I thought was emergency. I had a bad dizzy spell and dialed them because I was not even able to get up to go to the bathroom. They came out in no time and offered to take me to the hospital. Everybody's been very nice talking to me even when I have to test it. I test it once a month like I’m supposed to. Someone called me and tried to sell me the one where if I fall and might not be conscious, it would send the alarm. But when I read the instructions, it was not 100% so I sent that back.

I talked to them about that and say there’s no one here that needs help. I did take a fall a couple of weeks ago, and somebody came, and I got taken to the Emergency Room. It was good that I have the device. I didn’t want it, but it has proved itself. It’s been good to me.

The only thing I didn't understand about the device is if I fall outside and press this button, I wouldn't be able to talk into the device by phone. Other than that, it's a good deal if someone is mainly confined inside their house.

The first Medical Alert device I had didn't go off when I fell. It was about a week ago that I had to send it back. I fell on the 9th of this month, and it didn’t go off. So, my son was very upset with me because I didn’t go to the doctor, and he was more upset because the device didn’t go off for the ambulance to come to take me to the hospital. I have a second one now and to my knowledge, it’s working right.

The Medical Alert representatives are terrific. I’ve always had very nice representatives. They have never been nasty. They always answered my questions. If they didn't have the answer, they always appointed me to someone else that did. The only thing is my sister referred me and she never received her $25 gift card. I did reach out and they told me that they would check into it and she never heard anything, and neither did I.

With the old device, before Medical Alert switched it over, I could wear that. But the one that they sent me, the disc in the center on the old one is contrast. The other one was concaved. And when I wore them on the last time, it beeped three times just from hitting against my chest or neck. But it's doing me no good anymore. I won't wear it, because it keeps going off. Somebody called me and wantsed to know if it's an emergency. I told him, "No." It's stupid. The one you wear on your arm, that rubber strap at the side is crap, also. I don't know who came up with this thing, but it's terrible. My wife still works and I'm 79 years old, so I figured, in my age, I could fall. And if I do, I can't get myself up. So, I would push the button so I could get some help. But I won’t use this damn device because it always goes off. And I'm seriously considering returning it to Medical Alert.

But I don't use the necklace too much. I have it hanging in the bathroom on the towel rack. I use the wrist one, because I sleep with it too. I tested it yesterday. I had to make a test every month. It's a black band and it has holes in it and little knobs which go in the hole. And I have to go all the way to the end to put it in. My wrist is very tiny. It's a little difficult, but I manage. That's why I leave it on. If I get dressed up to go out someplace, I usually take it off and put my wristwatch on and take my phone. It went off once. I don't know why. It's a very loud, "Do you need help?" And I said, "No, no, no, everything's okay. I'm all right. It was an accident. I don't know what happened, but I'm fine." Medical Alert asked me what my name was, and I told them, "Joan **." And they said, "Oh, okay."
