I have placed several orders with Stauer in the past. I haven't noticed much until last summer. There were several back orders and the items were shipped as they became available. I then noticed that there were several charges on my credit card that did not reflect my purchases. I talked to at least 5 different people in Stauer's accounting department requesting clarifications of those charges. Three of these people were rude and condescending, and the other two though they promised that they would look into it, and get back to me, they never did. Though the charges on my credit card didn't make any sense, I believe that what they did is that they charged the full amount, for all items ordered, and then they re-charged them individually once they became available for shipment.

Having exhausted all reasonable efforts, I called American Express and disputed the charges. All of a sudden that drew their attention. Few days ago I received a statement that is even more confusing than before. The actual printed statement doesn't accurately reflect the charges to my credit card. It appears however that they made an effort to make it look like it matches by hand writing in different numbers, crossing out others.

Today, my administrative assistant received a phone call by a female claiming that she was calling on behalf of Stauer. I am a surgeon and I was at that time in the operating room. My assistant told this person that based on the information provided at this point in time, the doctor is not satisfied. She was threatening, and after she stated that she will turn me to collections, she hung up on my assistant. Such a wonderful customer service!!! Furthermore I think it borders fraud and harassment. I very rarely if ever have given my opinion on the internet for any products or services. But I find this absolutely outrageous and I am glad that I am not the only one. As for this mess I will let AX to sort it out.

I have ordered 3 Stauer watches in the past 2 years. I know exactly what they are - copies of much more expensive watches. I have been extremely pleased with the look, attention to detail, quality of product, and operational performance of all three watches. I have received many compliments on the watches. I'm very happy with the company and would recommend them. I can't speak for any other types of their jewelry as I haven't and don't plan to purchase any. I do heartily vouch for the watches I've purchased.

I noticed that the bezel on top was very difficult to use, it was so tight I couldn't turn it. Yesterday, I tried to change the digital time for daylight saving time. I couldn't get the time to change. How should I proceed with this problem?

Stauer states in the advertisement: If you're not totally satisfied, return it for a full refund of the purchase price. The first time I wore the Treasure found in Mount St. Helen's necklace and earring set, the "gold" was tarnished and flaking off. The jewelry was returned with a letter explaining the problem. That was followed by a second letter a month later. It has been 3 months since the jewelry was returned and still no response has been received.

I ordered Oval Ruby Pendant & Earrings Set for my mom from Stauer. It took over 8 weeks to arrive and when I finally got it, I was very disappointed. The stones didn't look like ruby at all, very poor quality and it was totally different than the one shown on the website. The Earrings were in 2 different color, one darker than the other. Also, the silver was discolored and looked like the lowest quality of silver you could find. I had to wash my hands 2x to get the black color off my hands. The return supposed to be free, however when I returned the goods I had to pay for it as it was shipped back from Canada. Stauer charged me $316 US and I only received $270 CAD back from them. All in all, very bad products and very poor service. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying products from Stauer since all they are doing is misleading people to make profit.

I received a response, after about 6-9 months, asking me to send the ring back and they would give me a new one if I purchased a 2 or 3 years of insurance which was $35.95 for 3 years, but it was prorated back to the time I first purchased the old ring. This in my estimate, should have been a 3 year warranty on the brand new ring, but I only got about 1 year for the 3 year insurance price, since they went back to the purchase of the old ring. I did receive the new ring, but only about 1 year of insurance for the price of 3 years.

I purchased the diamondaura matrimony set 6 months ago (approx. price 199.00). The covering of the band of the ring is turning black. Would not replace because I had another band soldered on it. I did not know this was their policy. They would have replaced it if I had not had the extra wedding bands soldered together, but did not know this was their policy. I will never, ever purchase from them again. This was not cheap jewelry (was not suppose to be for the price) and only wore it about 2 times a week.

A couple days later I received a call from a "stauer customer service rep" saying they couldn't verify the address I provided as my residence was correct. WHAT?!? Why would a company need to verify anything? Ship the order where I tell you to ship it! They went so far as to say they needed me to fax them a copy of a current utility bill or my drivers license before they could fulfill the order. I have purchased a number of pieces that were really attractive and had no problem with them. For the price, I do realize that they are costume pieces. I'm not fooling myself into thinking it's anything more. I have notice that the clasps are sometimes rough and not well finished. I have the "ruby" necklace, which I wore with a white shirt this summer. The color faded and ran onto my clothing, ruining the shirt. A call to customer service revealed that these are dyed rocks. They don't seem to be fading any further so I can probably wear it with a dark colored shirt in the fall.

The Murano glass pieces are nice. They have some necklaces with a magnetic clasp that is handy. It is disheartening that the catalog spends too much space telling fluffy stories and not enough actually describing the pieces. My husband has purchased some watches and they have been fine, although they are not daily wear pieces. Overall, I've been moderately satisfied but after the "ruby" incident, I'm done shopping with them.

I ordered the three-stone platinum fused classic ring three months ago, which comes with free earrings. I called after 7 weeks to see what was going on. They had no idea when it would be in. So I waited another couple of weeks for it to come in and called again, which was when they told me they still had no idea when it would be in and that sometimes it could take up to three months to come in from the manufacturer. It took 11 weeks to get to me (and it was sent to me without the free earrings because I practically begged the representative to check if there were any rings in my size because my wedding is next month). When I received the ring, the first thing I noticed was that it did not look like the picture at all. The center stone is huge, and it definitely looks different than advertised. I thought it looked like something you would get out of a gumball machine. But that wasn't it.

The center stone was loose and when I shook the ring, I could hear it rattle. Also, there were scratches on the band as if someone had worn it for a week or two, decided they didn't want it, sent it back then it was sold to me as if it was new. This whole experience was very upsetting for me because this was supposed to be my engagement ring. I ordered through Stauer because I wanted to avoid the blood-diamond trade; however, I feel scammed and silly for thinking this was a good alternative. I feel less embarrassed wearing the $8 Walmart ring I bought as a place holder (which has better prongs, by the way), than this real ring.

We moved a couple years later and I misplaced the necklace. I found it in its box in the back of my dresser instead of my jewelry box. As a result, I didn't wear all the pieces together for a couple of years. When I found the necklace, I put them all together and found that the rubies no longer matched. They had lightened in color; one was almost pink and none of them was wearable together. Natural rubies don't do that. Stauer claims they are superior. This is an excerpt of their advertisement for another created ruby set. They still sell this set. I found them on their website. Their claim is fraudulent. We don't ooh and ahh and they are not exact rubies.

They should be sued for false advertising. I tried to contact them about replacing my stones. All they did was apologize for not being able to do anything. In one email, they said that they don't manufacture the gems; they are only a catalog company. So I asked who does manufacture them so that I could complain to them for their shoddy workmanship. Then they came back and said that they have them manufactured. It sounds like they are responsible but not taking responsibility.

I should have expected as much for a piece of junk made in China despite their high praise and fantastical description on their website and glossy catalog. The second bad experience was the purchase of the Celestial Sapphire necklace. I opened the package to discover the item contained numerous defects. Specifically, the item was scratched in several places and unpolished in other places. These defects were quite visible in normal light and could have easily been seen had Stauer conducted a simple quality control inspection. This is a far cry from how the product appeared in their glossy catalog, i.e. polished and unscratched. It is clear that they do not conduct quality control of the items that they sell and that many of the items involve inferior production in China. Buy at your own tolerance for disappointment.

An advertisement in National Geographic Magazine for Stauer said this "automatic 27 jewel watch" was a redesigned replica of the original French/Swiss "masterpiece". They made a big deal out of the millions they spent on the Swiss machinery used in the production of the watch. The watch was just under $100 plus at $25 shipping. When the first watch arrived, the adjustment buttons on the side fell off when trying to set the time, day and date. I sent it back, told them I was not satisfied. No refund, another watch. Okay, then I looked at the back of the watch and saw "movement made in China". Nowhere in their ad in Nat Geo did they ever say anything about China.

Apparently, these are cheap auto movement Chinese knockoffs that you can buy for $10-$15 in Asia. The gold finish has tarnished and flaked off. The genuine leather strap has broken after less than 6 months use. The month indicator is stuck on February (will not move and will not adjust). Another quality product from China aka Stauer. Never again will I order anything from this company, and you can be sure that I will make sure my family, friends, co-workers, etc. see the junk they are advertising as costing in the hundreds of dollars. Just terrible!

Poor - I bought the Amethyst Maiden Necklace, Amber Heart Pendant, and Sapphire Pendant - for shipping costs only of $24.95 each - total for all the shipping was $74.85. The clasp on the Amethyst necklace is cheap quality, dime store quality. The necklace was not worth the $24.95 shipping fee.

I purchased a set of Jewelry from the Stauer Company that was advertised in the NRA magazine American Hunter. It was a ring, bracelet, earrings, and necklace, all totaling $399.00. It was advertised that their science has found a way to duplicate the diamond. I made the purchase for a Christmas gift, but held it till April for a birthday gift instead. When my wife saw the jewelry, she thought it was way too much for the product received. She called it "high price costume jewelry". She called the company and asked if any of the jewelry was real, and the spokesperson was very rude, and said yes it was good jewelry. My wife said sterling silver always has a mark stating sterling silver, and this did not have any such markings on it. We packed it up and sent it back to the company with a letter inside stating why we sent it back, and expected a full refund.

Stauer decided to send it back to us with no explanation of any kind. So we sent it back again with an additional letter stating that we did not want the jewelry or want it shipped back again. We notified the credit card company, but they said too much time had passed for them to hold payment. After waiting two months, I called Stauer and asked why I haven't received my credit or payment.

They again, were very rude and said flat out I would never get my money returned, and when asked about the jewelry, they stated they never received the return, and hung up. Because I never sent it insured, or FedEx, or UPS, there was no tracking ability by sending it by regular mail. Now, I have no jewelry, and I am out $400.00. Since I purchased it using the advertisement in the NRA magazine, I called the NRA to invoke their help. For over two years now, I have never obtained the right department that could help me. I don't have the jewelry, and I'm out $399.00. I'm at wit's end here.
