    We got HughesNet because it was our only option. When we lived in Wyoming we had this internet provider. It was okay but slower than expected. We thought it would be faster in Mississippi since we were out of the mountains of WY. This turned out to be a mistake. The internet is much slower here. I have tried to cancel this service but thus far this has not been allowed. I tried to cancel in the first six days of service twice. Both times I was promised the internet would be faster later on...my service was new but it would get much better. This is a lie. I was told I could cancel my service with no cost for ending it early since I had contacted you within the first six days. I plan to cancel this service but worry that HughesNet will not honor their promise to me. I want this matter resolved ASAP. Thank you for any help you can give me. Vicki J **

    This internet is horrible. My internet hardly works and upstairs it’s a miracle if you can watch any tv. I am very disgusted with this internet service. Also they claim we go over our data, but I work 7am-4pm and maybe watch a hr or so on the tv if it’s even working. My son works 3pm-11:30p.m so he might as well watch about a hr of tv, if it’s working. Yes we use our cell phones but I use my phone service internet more than my WiFi cause it hardly works. Now I am stuck in a contract (which they put you in cause they know their service sucks, so putting people in a 2 yr contract guarantees they get paid for this crappy ** internet service.) As you can read, I am over it! Not happy at all!!!!

    You have to be right in front of the box to get wifi. I have never had such poor service as this one. If I wasn’t in a contract I’d disconnect it. And the price is too much, it’s double than any other internet service. When Charter put in my tv. Service, he wouldn’t even connect to it. Because of the poor service.     I was promised by two salesmen and the installer that I would finally be able to stream from my Roku device and watch all the apps that I had not been able to use with ATT DSL service I had for years. Bottom line is I cannot and am actually worse off than I was with the DSL. With that, I could watch Netflix and ESPN. With HughesNet, can only stream Netflix. HughesNet is the worst decision I have ever made!

    I'm glad to have internet in my rural area where I live, that's a plus, and HughesNet was quick to come out and get the internet going, that's another plus, but there are a few qualities I believe are kind of lacking with the service, and that is the price and the speed. It's a little more expensive than what I've had in the past with other ISP's in other places I've lived, and plus these days most don't put you under a contract, but Hughesnet has a 2 year contract and I think they said if you cancel before the 2 years is up that you'd have to pay for each month remaining on the service and that's a lot of money, like if you cancel after 9 months or so I think the remaining months would total over 1,000 dollars. I can't imagine an internet company actually charging anyone that amount for cancelling, but there's that contract you sign that explains it.

    Then also the speed is okay but it seems slower lately, but you can go higher in their plans and pay more. That would be too much to spend for a woman who lives by herself and being a Senior Citizen as well, like me. For families where they have 2 incomes it would be better for them. I like to watch ministries and church on the YouTube website, but this internet makes it phase in and out so it's not as enjoyable as what I've had in the past. I can't really say I am really very happy with the service with these types of circumstances they have with it. It would be nice to see some changes which would most likely benefit this business with more customers because good deals makes everybody happy.

    During the hours of "Bonus Time" it seems everybody is downloading movies or software updates and it makes any regular access terribly slow... So slow as to cause many log-in attempts on other websites to time-out and fail. Along about 8 AM, things speed up to the usual slowness of a satellite connection.

    Not done in a professional manner. Cable left on the ground, just left undone.. Cable and ground wire looks like it was done by an inexperienced installer. Cable was left draped over my patio railing. Once inside my home a grommet should have been placed over the cable to prevent moisture from seeping in. It works though.

    The HughesNet website is remarkably slow to load. It is very awkward to monitor more than one account. We own 5 houses and have HughesNet dish installed at all 5. I have to log out and then log back in to the website to check usage at each house. The bills for the 5 accounts, however, are combined, but are hard to understand. There have been mistakes made by HughesNet on installation of 2 of our accounts and there seems to be no way to rectify. In one case two installations done on the same day by the same team were tagged with incorrect address, that is, the addresses were swapped. In another case the name on the account was incorrect. My name has since been added but I was told the wrong name could not be removed. Makes no sense.

    I canceled HughesNet Voice Mail due to the continual and repeated failures of this voicemail service. While I was on a planned conference call, my voicemail service quit. I could not obtain the information I needed to complete the planning and training documents I was working on. I contacted technical support section on my cellphone several times and spent several hours reestablishing connectivity. I have had multiple connectivity failures with this system. I have disconnected the telephone cord and pressed the reset (which can only be reached using a sturdy paper clip and inserting it into a small hole in the auxiliary device to the modem).

    I am certain the voicemail service provided by HughesNet will not improve since the auxiliary device used by HughesNet is inadequate. Like the old saying, “You Can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” I hope the Federal Communication Commission can assist me in this dispute with HughesNet. As soon as my contract for internet service expires, I will cancel my service with HughesNet. Never Again!

    I recently purchased my home. There are limited options for Internet. I called Hughes Net and they sent a tech out. I was given a 2 hour block. Of course they were late. The tech walked my yard for less than 5 minutes and told me there wouldn’t be anywhere to get service. I was upset but there was nothing I can do. I received a follow up call asking if I wanted a refund or to reschedule, I opted for a refund but the call was then dropped. I called the previous owner of the home and asked who they had. I was told Hughes net.

    On Friday I had Dish our for an install and asked the technician if the second satellite on my property was for Hughes net, he told me it was. I called Hughes net back and asked for a different installer out. I was passed around to 3 different call centers before being told the technicians never make mistakes and they would not send another off to me even though they were still holding my deposit. By far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I still have not received my refund and am stuck without internet since they are the only provider in the area.

    For the past 12 months I've been paying $95.78 per month for 25 mbps service. That speed is nothing to write home about and is way over-priced. Not to mention the degradation in service under a thick cloud cover or storm. At the end of the first year of my 2-year contract the monthly charge jumped to $125.78... and they tell me the first year was an introductory price and now I have to pay the usual fee for this plan. Never again. As soon as my 2-year agreement ends I'm switching to another service... one that delivers for a reasonable price. HughesNet is a major rip off.

    This is a very bad experience. I called to get new service, explained my needs than set up the new account to be put in Monday, April 2021. Called within hours the service was sooo slow. The tech did not help me. Called back spoke with another person to cancel service and they wanted to work with me to try and get better service, it did not work. The third call got more info they wanted to work and so I did and it did not change the service. Called to cancel and they want to charge me 800 dollars after 4 days of service.     First and foremost be prepared for lengthy hard to understand customer calls with their support team. They will not do what they say to resolve your issues. Then when you have to call back for unresolved issue - you have to start all over and talk to several reps and still not solved. We were told after several issues with the HN wifi that we would get a complimentary visit from a technician, we'd get a free upgrade to Gen5, and something else? All we got were 2 modems via delivery, modems we didn't request nor need. They were just like the ones they installed at last lengthy service call.

    Do not update, just locks you into another 2 yr contract with the slow, lagging, rude services!! Very frustrated b/c we are paying ridiculously high payments for D/F grade IT service. Tried cancelling several times, they say, "You've been a long time customer, let's try help"! Bull larky, they haven't done any but exacerbate our frustrations!! Can't even use the wifi bit maybe 2 hours in increments during a 24 hour period. Shameful to say the least!! We are still trying to cancel, and gotta make the dreaded call to HN just to get no resolution and a whole lot of them lying and not wanting to help resolve.

    I'd rather keep purchasing data gigs to use on my handheld devices, than to deal with HN shorty practices. DO NOT RECOMMEND, unless YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY!! Just to add streaming vids/ movies are OUT OF THE QUESTION, 30 day reloads of purchased and free data allowance) (stats @ 2am- 8am) NOBODY IS UP using it, yet all that data is spent up in as little as 72 hours - with no explanation? Just a suggestion from rep to "PURCHASE" more GB's... BOO-HOO on you HUGHESNET... Can't wait till we done with your very subpar ITS Customer Service!!!

    I ordered HughesNet because it was the only service I can get in my area. For most of the time I had it the quality was poor. Any type of weather it would cut in and out and this was our main TV (Netflix, Amazon Prime). Finally I had enough of paying $70+ a month for something I could barely use. I called to cancel and asked them to send a final bill and I would pay it promptly which was fine. I knew I would have a contract to buy out, completely understandable. A few weeks went by and I had heard nothing. I had Received an email saying what my final balance due was with intentions on paying at that following Friday. That same email did not say anything about a due date it was due. Little did I know they had already withdrawn the amount out of my account that same day.

    As a new parent and on a tight budget I did not have the money in my account which led to an overdraft out of my account. That week I had to borrow $20 for gas for the week.. I called to speak with a representative and I could barely understand him and it also seemed he was reading from pre-typed letter. Would not recommend to anybody it will not be back for more.     I ordered HughesNet for my cabin - which is in a remote location. I ordered it because I needed high speeds (which they advertise). What they don't tell you is there is a lag that occurs that makes video conferencing and digital calling useless! I went to cancel my order and I am being charged for the dish (which I expected at $335 after 6 months). Now I find that if I dont go up on a ladder to get the radio receiver (which they installed) I get charged another $200. Given my house is on the side of a mountain and the receiver is on the roof of a double story house - that's not happening. Interesting they can install it but then expect the consumer to endanger their lives to go on the roof to get a transmitter. I should have listened to my neighbors on HughesNet -- NEVER AGAIN.

    Today I woke up to having no internet service due to being suspended for a 10 day late payment. No big deal I called and thought my payment was paid. The first time I called after paying what I thought was all my bill online I spoke to a gentleman who was rude, not very helpful or professional at all. Well after about a 30 minute call he told me my payment was processed and my service would restart within an hour. An hour and a half goes by I still have no internet. So I call back.

    The second gentleman I spoke to was a little on the professional side not too well though. He informed me that my payment was "still processing" and my service would restart within 2-3 more hours. As I have never had this happen before I believed him and went on about my day. 8 hours later I get off work and arrive home still NO INTERNET SERVICE! So I call back once again! At this time I am very PISSED.

    I get a lady on the phone by the name of Alex. Very sweet, yes I was rude and shouldn’t have been. I have had my service interrupted before and have never had this problem and especially having to wait 12 hours for my service to be reconnected. While on the phone with ALEX finally someone who know what they are talking about. I explain what’s going on and everything that I have been through. 25 minutes on the phone with her and she had my problem resolved! 10 minutes after getting off the phone with this woman I HAD INTERNET SERVICE! Not 1 hour, not 3 hours 10 MINUTES!!! This company needs more people like ALEX! Alex deserves to be recognized! GREAT JOB ALEX!

I canceled on March 24 and Hughes STILL hasn't credited my card. I called them today and they told me they don't credit "until after the end of their financial period".     I am so over my association with HughesNet. This internet service is comparable to ancient dial-up. Their service is poor, unreliable and unconcerned with customer needs. They are dishonest. Their unfortunate customer service representatives are limited to the scripts provided to them to perform their jobs. HughesNet should be eternally grateful to the call center staff who dodge angry customers by doing their best to be empathetic every minute of every day. Many thanks to two of the multitude of representatives I had telephone contact with and were able to lessen the aggravation of my issue.     Very dismal and frustrating to say the least. The email system periodically blocks our emails going to our lawyer. The system identifies them as spam advertisements. Hughes customer service takes the following actions and stances:

    1. Our system doesn't block emails to specific addresses.
    2. We have no control over our email system.
    3. Let me escalate this to the next level.
    4. Next level - see the above.
    5. We have decided to transfer you to home tech support.
    6. Hts- that will be $60 for this call or $199 for a year's subscription.
    7. Gee we never heard of this.
    8. We found the problem and it's with Hughes' email handler. No, we don't know why the parent company of Validity (the email contractor) is sent you advertisements offering to stop your emails from being marked as spam. Gee, only $40 per month.
    9. Same routine again this month.
    10. Call as to why such a bad review!
    a. The same thing keeps happening and not really addressed.
    b. You set a time I would get a call back from the escalated issue - it never happened.
    c. You claimed they called back and couldn't even leave a message - I specified 6:00pm or later.
    i. Claimed call backs were morning calls.

    ii. My system showed no calls during that period.

    I have learned that we have a changing ip address with the internet because half the world is asleep at any given time and we have to maximize use of space. Don't know for sure what this means to me but I do know it is sure causing us problems that no one wants to own or seems to have any idea how to solve except temporarily.

    We have had experience with several other internet service providers over the past 30 years. Some were better than others, but none of them were nearly as bad as Hughesnet. This "service," and I use that term sarcastically, reminds me a lot of the way the internet performed in its infancy. It has ridiculously low data limits, super slow speeds, endless buffering, is criminally overpriced, and consistently unreliable. To add insult to injury, they rope you into a 24-month contract that charges you an exorbitant fee to cancel your agony before the term limit is reached. If I could give advice, to anyone who is considering signing up with Hughesnet, it would be to do whatever it takes to find a different provider. Or just take the hundred dollars a month you you would waste with these clowns and buy lottery tickets.     I’ve been a paying customer of HughesNet for over a year now. Every single month I have been in service with this company, I have had an issue with the internet service. From day one, the first installer, installed our satellite dish and cables incorrectly, and HughesNet had to send a different agent out to “fix” the issue. Well, apparently he put a bandage over a cancer spot, so to say, because the spot grew, and spread. I can’t even watch Netflix without the internet stopping to buffer every 1 minute. I’m not exaggerating. It has been like this since day one. HughesNet refuses to send another agent out to fix the problem. They say they have to charge me $125 to do that. I pay $130 a month for 25gb download and 10gb upload. Which is already hilariously slow, but I don’t even get that speed. I will never recommend these thiefs to anybody. I can’t wait for my contract to end. HughesNet is an abomination of a company.

    The agent representative Ms. Valerie ** was polite, kind and professional was able to assist me. I still have difficulties with HughesNet internet it’s gone from a 10 to 1.     A high percentage of the time we could not watch a Netflix movie because of continuous buffering. Any video conference activity would freeze for long periods of time. After many pleas with Hughes to find a workable system regardless of cost, they informed me it was the best they could deliver. Sadly I was left with no choice but to find another service who was willing to work to find a solution. The good news Is I was able to find one. To add insult to injury Hughes is going to charge me $575 on the way out the door for poor service. Not to mention when I signed up I relied on their recommendation for performance. Bottom line it is worth paying them not to do business with a bureaucratic nightmare. They claim to have World Class Service - Their slogan does not come close to reality.

    First of all the two gentlemen that came out were very polite and friendly. I asked why there were two techs that came out and they said one was in training. Of course this added time to my service call. That is no problem if I don't get charged for two techs and any extra time it took for training. They determined the dish was misaligned which I knew already. They said the problem was with the mounting of the dish. They said they could not fix it because the base was loose where it attached to the house. It would have to be an installer that will fix it. They were able to receive some signal by sticking a piece of wood underneath one mounting bracket.

    I check the speed test and both upload and download and the results were significantly less than 1 Mbps. I tested twice with the same results. This service call did not solve my problem and hurts my daughter with live streaming virtual learning due to COVID because, now I must wait for someone else to come out and realign my dish. It would have been nice to send one person who knew how and would fix my problem. These two gentlemen accomplished basically nothing since I still cannot use HughesNet for virtually learning and my wife and my businesses.

    I was never told by Dish that a 3rd party was installing my internet. I would have never chosen your company because I don't know you. Your tech was not sociable, He sat in his car a lot. He never directed my cameras or connected my cameras to the internet. Before leaving he did not adjust the dish. After he left I must have called Hughes about 5 times because I was having trouble with the internet. Trouble with my T.V., the picture kept turning on and off, with my computers, they also kept losing signal, and after the tech left I noticed my cameras were offline. Since the day of installation I have called Hughes many times, I've had problems with customer service, with operators in tech support, and with a manager. I've made several complaints.

    We signed up with Hughesnet under the understanding we would have adequate internet service capable of supporting our VPN access allowing us to work from our home for our employer. Only to find out after we are locked into a two year agreement that the service provided by Hughesnet is not adequate to support high speed VPN access. Our Verizon hotspots remote access is more supportive, though slower in responding, and it will at least let us work from home. Hughesnet has in our opinion not defined all the limitations of their internet services in their advertising. If the full limitations had been disclosed up front, that could have warned other new customers, along with us, of the inferior or lack of providing remote workers adequate access to support their remote VPN internet activities.

    If there is a technical issue then it needs to be addressed and any blocking of this type of internet activity needs to be removed if possible. I would like to have technical support contact me if there is a possible workaround which would allow us to work remotely using Hughesnet services. We might be willing to change our rating of this company and service if a positive solution can be found. Otherwise, we continue to be dissatisfied with our new Hughesnet system.

Since then, I have been on the phone with tech support for internet connection, slow service always buffering, unable to connect with Netflix, but when I do it will interrupt, buffer then say unable to connect.     I had expected to be able to log onto my computer and have it respond quicker than when I have it hooked to my phones hotspot. It is slower. When trying to watch a movie, it has to stop and upload during the movie several times and that makes no sense to me. Even if I only have one device hooked to HughesNet, it is still very slow.     What I was trying to see was did y'all have a good deal on faster internet with about forty or fifty GB at a reasonable price or if you had a bundle package. To me it just seems to be really a high price $150.00 a month for 50 GB.

    Can't wait to find another service. Only gave 1 star cause you have to pick one. Doesn't work half the time. The people definitely don't know how to do their job! Seriously dissatisfied!!!! I talked to 4 people today. The first one couldn't explain a bill to save her life. The second wasn't much better and you couldn't really hear her over the rooster in the background. But my favorite was the manager. Complete jerk. I asked to speak to another manager and he put me on hold for 15 minutes just to hang up on me instead of contacting me!

    Since I got Hughesnet l have had nothing but problems.. Internet is always slow. Customer service is bad. I have read online that Hughesnet oversold their service and can't provide enough internet for its customer. Every evening slow or no internet. I'm going to look into getting a class action lawsuit. It's not right for you to advertise high speed internet or internet if this company can't provide the service for the customers. Hughesnet shouldn't be in Business at all.

    Runs out of data too quick, that's why I went with the commercial service. If I could have limitless data it would probably work, and it doesn’t reach all the rv spaces. I think I did have unlimited service the first year or so but I guess I don’t now. I would be open to a different deal, but if not I’m going to change to a different company. Thank you.

    When I signed up for service I was told that I would get speeds up to 25 mbps and it hasn't even been close. I called and informed HughesNet of my poor performance. They checked my download and upload speed and determined it was not performing to spec and that there was a problem but they never took care of it. I have tried to communicate with your service group multiple times and have I have not received any help. I cannot recall having such terrible customer service ever.

    Hughesnet does not work. Advertised service/speeds are simply not available. Customer service is non-existent. Every time we call in to cancel, they will not let us cancel, and try to send us to their “tech support”, which never helps. We have attempted to cancel multiple times. The last time, they upgraded our data package and told us we could cancel if the service didn’t improve. When it did not improve, we called in to cancel and they say it will cost $500 to cancel now. We tried to cancel anyway, and they did not. Each call to do anything means at least an hour wasted talking to people who are not there to help you. Hughesnet is a criminal organization.

    This is the worst service, it constantly stops & starts as if searching. I have had the service a week and it’s never worked properly. I don’t enjoy watching any tv because of the pauses every 5 seconds. I will not recommend HughesNet to anyone. I am seriously considering paying the early termination fee and get out of this horrible 2 year contract. I am paying for a service that doesn’t work, I feel ripped off.

    I was billed $117 +. I was not happy. I had my account on hold from Nov 1 thro May 1. I was not told you could have it on hold for only 120 days. My April bill will be $89.00 she said. Don't see how I can afford a bill of over $100 at my house here at the ranch and $89 at the cabin. I am on Soc Sec and a small retirement. Is there anything you can do about this? Thanks. Patsy
