    The installer came late Friday evening. He stayed until 11:30 working in the dark with only two flashlights. He kept dropping things and decided to come back another day. Nobody came on Saturday or Monday so I called to see when someone was going to come and finish the installation. I couldn't understand the lady I spoke with so I asked to speak to her supervisor. His name was Josh. He was very sympathetic, but said it would probably be November first. I was upset! He said he would put the order in again and hope for the best. I had to accept that. The next morning, Greg, the original installer called and said he was coming to finish the job even though it was his day off. He did come and finished the installation even though it took him until 5:30 that evening. I greatly appreciated him doing that, although I did ask for a manual and he said they didn't give them out anymore.

    Lady on phone walked me through troubleshooting my problem. When we couldn't fix it, she set up a service date. The technician called the next day, said he could fit me in his schedule while he was in my area that day, instead of coming back on my scheduled day.     I signed up for satellite service intended as a backup in case of natural disaster and losing primary internet provider. When I discussed this scenario with Hughes Sales, they suggested I could buy my equipment, and simply put my suspend my service until it was needed. I signed the 2 year contract, but now learning that the contract does not expire under suspension. It just pushes out until I enable 2 years of full service. Of course, this was not shared with me on signup. I feel this is type of contract is illegal and unethical business practice. I will continue to share my bad reviews thru all medium, and call Hughes every 6 months to suspend my service until legal counsel catches up HughesNet bad business practice.

    Got Dish TV and internet through Dish. Never talked to Hughes prior to installation. Recommend Hughes contact all pending customers to give them the option of purchasing the modem, because that's the only time it can be done.     Hughesnet in my opinion, is a stark example of the worst internet providers. They prey on individuals that live in rural and or greatly under-served communities. The sales pitch boasts a starting speed of 25 Megabits Per Second (25Mb/s). After purchase, sign up and installation the customer rarely if ever realize the stated speed.

    I happen to live in one of these areas. Although, I also happen to be a retired Network Server Administrator. After so many years testing gateway speed and through-put, testing download and upload speeds are not so complicated. If more users would conduct this simple online test, they would be surprised to find that Hughesnet speeds are usually around 2.7 to 3 Mb/s download and a miserable 0.35 Mb/s upload. Just enough to watch online videos in the worst working configuration which is about 240P-320P. Forget streaming in High Definition! Someone has to reveal the honest truth!

    We have lived off grid for 30 years.     Hughes is our 3rd internet provider. We live in a rural area. Still have copper phone lines. Right now our only internet options are by satellite. And it can be clear skies and it’s still up and down like a yoyo. We are limited in amount of time used before they hard throttle us and that means you are lucky if you can get your mail. I have to drive 30 miles to use a grocery store WiFi to do anything on my website for the kennel I run. We are hoping if and when Starlink reaches us. It will be better. But to be truthful even tho I put us on the wait list. I have serious doubts that anyone gives a damn to actually provide us with a sat service that remains connected longer than a few minutes or allows us to do actual work without having to drive to a store for a reliable strong signal that doesn’t cut in and out. We are rural. We don’t count.

    I hate satellite service but that was the only option at the time and had a decent price but once I moved and stayed with them and later prices increased and service got worse when it cloudy, raining, storming, etc. I finally have discontinued my service with them with a local internet service provided that is faster and has no limits!!     I had HughesNet but didn't like it. I was always having trouble. When I wanted to cancel it took them so long to do so and they wouldn't refund my money that I paid like they said they would so I changed to a local internet that was Strata.     Set up was good. The installer was great and had a sense of humor, was knowledgeable in his work. I do wish the lights on the modem was explained to me and what it means when some go out as it happens frequently during storms.     The employee on the phone with my husband was amazing. She provided the information very well to him. However, when the tech showed up at our house. One thing he would not just stop and listen to my husband with his concerns. The tech treated my spouse like he was an idiot. And he seemed to want to get done in a hurry. He also told us that the customer service employee we spoke with on the phone was mistaken, that we did not have to wait ten days for us to keep the original phone number.

    He provides me with a phone number on a cardboard box and told me to call that number.     I prefer to live in the country, but can't find a reliable service. So far Hughes.net is better than the rest but not great. I really have no other choice. I've had it for years. Sometimes it's so slow, my web pages won't load. It constantly goes down in storms, but I guess that's to be expected. Once, the dish on my roof was full of ice, so we had to go out in subzero temps with a car window scraper on the roof to clean it. I call it metered bandwidth because I only get 10 GB each month to use before it's slowed to snail paced.

    Overnight starting at 2:00 AM they give you back high speeds again which end at 8:00 AM. If you are a night owl, maybe Hughes.net would be good for you. My bill is over $80 a month for this sub par service. I would not recommend them to anyone. I'd like to get a smart TV and be able to watch through Internet, but that will eat up all my bandwidth fast. Furthermore, I can't get anything WiFi enabled like a smart TV, home video surveillance, smart washer, etc. because I just don't have the bandwidth for that. I have to stay up half the night, so I can download large files I need. Hughes.net will keep you living in the dark ages. If you can get cable, don't use them, it's a rip off.

    By far, the worst company I have ever done business with. I had 2 Seasonal rental properties with their internet service. The sales team Lied about the service been temporary and I could cancel any time. My vacation rentals are 6 month of the year as the other half there is no access due to heavy snow. A supervisor helped me with the employee dishonesty and canceled 1 account for a hefty $365 fee, the other account was placed on freeze.     Hughes Net has been the worst Internet Service Provider that I have ever worked with. I started service at my new home and signed up for 25MBS service and from day 1 I have not ever seen over 5MBS with any stability. I can't even get on the internet to send and receive emails most times and have not been able to utilize Netflix or other streaming platforms. The worst part is that when I signed up I told them exactly what I needed internet for which was working from home, participating in Google video meetings and streaming television. They assured me that their service would do all of things very well. If it streamed at all, the best was 144p to 240p which is terrible quality and most of the time it just crashed.

    I went through the process of having my service troubleshot the technician told me that they had an issue on their end that was already known with no timeline for repair; he scheduled a follow up appointment to call me and then cancelled it last minute. I gave the service another week or so to get better but there was no improvement, it actually got much worse, so I found another provider that was able to meet my minimal needs.

    When I called to discuss with Hughes Net they simply said, "Sorry and here is your ~$400 cancellation fee, you should have called us again to let us troubleshoot the service again." To top all of this off, it is now my problem to uninstall their ridiculous wind sail of a dish and steel pole they buried on my property, or I will be charged an additional ~$300 fee for not sending back the router and signal receiver on the dish. Buyer Beware of this horrible service provider and their bait and switch schemes. Nothing like a company that builds their profits from people's hard earned money with having to provide any kind of reliable service.

    My Hughesnet was installed 2 years ago. Nothing but problems. I'm told when I called, the signal was fine. After Not using the service for well over a year, I finally felt well enough to try and get my TV synced, try streaming. Buffering, buffering, very annoying. Tried doing my hobby, Ancestry. Won't load pages, no internet detected, even with my phone. On my hopper from DISH, I can see the signal dropping and disappearing. They tried to charge me over $100 for a booster. I tried to cancel as I had no assurance from the tech that it would even help. The buffering time delay is outrageous. It took over 2 hours to Cancel with a Very rude, unhelpful man. Fortunately the tech was nice and took the satellite down for me, as I'm disabled and I need to return the nose of the dish, or be charged $300!

Go somewhere else for internet. While canceling the Only thing on the account management rep's mind, was how to get more money out of me. I have never had it take over 2 hours to cancel something. All in all, Hughesnet stinks, aggravating and big disappointment (from upstate NY).

    Ever since getting this service it has been painfully slow. The only thing it is good for is surfing the net. Certainly not anything close to clicking and the page opens immediately, but it takes a few seconds. If you want to watch a video on Youtube, you will have to wait at least a min on short videos, anything longer than 5 minutes it will be a long time. It will constantly buffer making the user experience frustrating. Other times it will just freeze up and there's nothing you can do but wait. Basically, the main thing that is different from the old dial up is that you don't get the noise when connecting and pictures download faster. Other than that, you are back in the 80's.

    They tried many times over the phone to fix the problem which never was fixed. Their customer service is horrible. Long wait times. They were supposed to call me back on several occasions and did not. Their cancellation fee is $400. So now I will have to contact an attorney to resolve this as I never got what was paid for from the outset. As with most companies, you'll have to deal with an incompetent person overseas who constantly puts you on hold to check with their supervisor to come back and relay the message. The supervisor won't bother getting on the phone with you even when asked. Unless this is your ONLY option for internet, I would go elsewhere. You will regret getting service with them, mark my words.

    It does not work!!!! If I could have rated it zero, I would have. The sales department represented that it would work in my area, but it did not. Not even a little bit. Could not even open simple web pages. Certainly no TV or complex internet processes. I could not do my work from home as they represented I could. When I called to cancel the service, they required the cancellation fee even though it did not work as represented. Fortunately, they did not have my current credit card on file. I would not give them a card to draw on.

    I will not pay this fee given that it did not work as represented for me. I am fortunate enough to be in a position to not care about the credit implications and will not pay this as a matter of principle.     Absolutely the worst of any TV viewing ever. The signal is so bad that the the TV goes from 250p to 420p and then buffers, does it every 6 to 8 seconds, 60/80 times an hr, 600/800 times in a 10 hr day. How they are allowed to take money for the less than dial up service. Got it installed Thursday, service tech had to return due to extreme blurring and buffering. Tech got a better picture, nothing better than 420p on a 4K Smart TV, still buffers and picture is terrible. 1 week of this is enough.     Worse internet service I've had. Doesn't allow for any real streaming - just the basics at a very high cost. Expect the system to go down at the slightest hint of inclement weather. Expect to need to purchase "data tokens" monthly, which can raise your bill another 50% monthly. The worst part - if you need to terminate early for any reason, you'll pay as much as $400. I needed to sell my house and relocate 4 months after signing up with Hughes. My monthly bills when I had service were about $150. Now I owe another $370. My cost for 4 months of bad service was just about $1,000. NEVER AGAIN.

    First the installation.... The installer asked if you could add a new coaxial cable and I said, "Sure whatever you have to do", then without my knowledge proceeds to drill a hole in the corner of my Floor to run a new coaxial. Last I checked I didn't think I had to watch over the shoulders of an installer 'cause the rest of the world installs everything in the walls.

    Now on to the actual quality seeing as I was a previous Spectrum customer and was either quit Spectrum or hang myself I decided to try Hughes.net I didn't think there's a company out there that was more unreliable than spectrum as far as their internet reliability and speed but I guess I was definitely wrong. My advice to anyone searching for Internet don't go with Spectrum or Hughes.net.

    I had my service disconnected because serviceman said my dish was perfectly positioned for best reception. When he left, I noticed he left the heavy tripod and all wiring that was originally installed. How am I supposed to remove that from my roof? Also, when I cancelled my "trial" service, I was told I would be charged $400 to cancel as I was one day over my time period. I was waiting for the service man to come to fix my service. I had him disconnect everything so I wouldn't be charged any fees. I had to speak to 2 customer service reps to waive the fee, but had to pay for the $99 booster that they told me would help my reception.     On April 12, 2021, I called to cancel my services with HughesNet. I had a new provider already installed and working. Services from Hughesnet were terrible and most of the time I could not even load a webpage. I fulfilled the 2 year contract and could not wait to cancel the services and outrageous charges. I canceled all services and asked that my credit card info be removed from their system. I was told I did not need to return any equipment because it was too old. I was billed in April, May, June and now again in July and money was taken directly out of my checking account.

    I called today (July 10th) when I saw another charge on my bank account. I was told they had no record of me cancelling the service, only suspending it until July 6. This is a lie. Why would I only suspend my account until July 6th when I already had a new provider installed and working? I was told today that my account was not canceled and the payment they took would not be refunded until I returned all equipment. Good thing I didn't throw the equipment away or I would be charged $300. I asked several times for a supervisor and for this to be escalated and my money refunded immediately.

    Finally, I did get someone in financial services that said my refund should be in my bank in 1-7 days. In the meantime, this was an unauthorized charge to my bank, I do not want their services (obviously) and will be returning the equipment as soon as I receive the box and prepaid label as promised. From reading complaints, I was warned this would happen and it would take many calls to get them to remove my credit card information. There is no way to do that on my own on their website.     I had the Hughesnet service and because of such slow internet service decided to go a different way. I called and canceled service. I received a box with instructions to return the equipment, which I did as instructed. I had called them and informed them of the equipment was on its way back to them and verified I did not owe anything else. This was in September. THe following June I received a collection letter from McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff saying I owed $245.34 to Hughesnet!! I first called hughesnet to see why and was told the computers were down and I would have to call again later. I refused and asked for the supervisor. I was given a number to call. When I called the number it was the collection company not the supervisor or another department. I talked with the collection company and was told it was for not returning the equipment.

    I called Hughesnet back and asked why this was not showing as returned. The representative checked the records and then told me the equipment was returned the previous September and the account was updated and to disregard the letter. Hughesnet can not be trusted to take care of their customers or have any ability to ensure their accounts are accurate. Please ensure you get written conformation of returned equipment and bills paid. These should be kept for at least 3 years to ensure you are not sent to collections for something they are not responsible enough to handle.

Each person you speak with tells you something different. Forget running a credit card and getting a receipt for company transaction purchases, they don't give receipts. I also attempted to transfer ownership to a new company, Hughesnet kept kicking back the forms as not filled out, every time I'd call they would tell me it looks fine and to send it again.     I got service from Hughesnet after they told me I could make and receive calls on my computer. I need that for work. Well I couldn't and when I called in I was told that I couldn't. They let me cancel but refused to give back the installation fee and charged me $100 to return the equipment. They billed me once for the $100 then sent me straight to collections. I contact them occasionally to see if they will return my money and cancel the fee with no response until today.     While Hughesnet customer service is generally excellent, the product itself is seriously flawed. Internet purchasing or reading of webpages of only text is not a problem (nor is connecting online), streaming media of any kind provides poor quality value. Competition between local users makes even an adequately broad connection a frustrating exercise in rebuffering - every 5-6 seconds I wait that long for every rebuffering pause. Even in non-peak hours buffering delays are frequent. Crashing of the Hulu media player happens many times per session on some days. And this is when watching at what is called “data saver” resolution (blurry but does play outside of the 8-11pm peak demand time). Fortunately I have gigabytes available between 2 and 8 am when the rebuffering interruptions at low resolution are mostly absent.

    There is some correlation to observable outside weather, at other times there is not; rain or wind either do or do not cause bandwidth problems. It appears to be competition with other users that is the issue - due to a marginally wide available bandwidth. I live rurally and everyone locally has satellite via Hughesnet. Thus none of us locally are apparently able to have the kind of internet available that would allow an adequate 21st century online presence. Unfortunately I have no other option. Even cell service here is spotty, and message (texting) is unavailable most times. Telephone calls are always dropped at least once per. Get into the broadband business right now. As soon as it arrives here, satellite is gone.

    I was told BY HUGHESNET that their movie streaming is unbeatable. Liars! I can’t watch a movie without it buffering at least 45 times. They lock you in to a 2 year contract so you’re STUCK with their garbage service! When I call to complain they told me it’s because my smart TVs is too high tech. I can’t even stream on my basic little garbage TCL Roku though. Getting this service was a HUGE mistake that I will be reminded of daily FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS! Don’t waste your money! It’s twice as much money for less than 1/2 the quality of the local internet provider! DON'T DO IT!

    I am not a customer, however a few of my family members are. We called customer service, and the lady kept saying we are online, but we are not. Then she kept on repeating the same questions over and over, asking if DirecTV was hooked up we told her no. Then she would ask our address a few times, we then asked can a tech guy come out, she said "No, you are online." Around and around we go, then finally 78 minutes later she says "Ok I will have them call you to have a tech come out." Still no phone call. He has been out of internet for over a week now. One more thing, they sent him a new modem, thinking it was the modem, he got the same error as the other one. I don't think I will ever get these guys after that headache.

    HughesNet service is terrible. Such low connections I can’t maintain phone calls at home, even with modern hardware. I work from home. The second I am able to switch to a better equipped provider, I’m gone. Absolutely not worth $70 a month and the data cap is “pants on head” ridiculous.

    DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! The tech told us we needed to cut down half of our pecan tree to put up a satellite. We spent over $1,400 to cut down half our tree, only to be told 2 weeks later that "the newest model satellite" came out and it could be connected to the previous owners satellite TV stand. We spent $1,400 for NOTHING. They have lazy techs who refuse to hook up modems where you actually want them. They used old existing TV lines instead of running new coax. We only had internet service 1/3 of the time. And to top it off their tech spit chewing tobacco all over the our walkways during the "installation." Needles to say, we took our service elsewhere.

    The appointment setter on the phone was prompt and reasonably knowledgeable about the product. The installer was above and beyond professional. Knew exactly what he was doing. I'm a little less than happy with the actual product that was sold to me. I'm unable to stream anything for more than five minutes without without there being a pause. Sometimes as long as three minutes. I reached out to customer service twice about this issue, but I've never received any type of response. It's been almost two weeks now. Would not recommend to others.

    Business satellite internet service was supposed to be a minimum of 25 mbps, but many days as low as 2.96 or 6. I tried to cancel, and was repeatedly transferred to representatives and had to call back more than 4 times, and my service was still not cancelled. They advised there was an early termination fee of over $800. Yet I was told I would receive a minimum of 25 mbps.

    The retention representatives are overseas, and I was advised by a supervisor in the U.S. that there was no one in the states who could cancel my service. A customer should not have to keep calling and keep getting transferred. And to be subject to a early termination fee when the satellite service is much slower than I was promised is ludicrous. Poor customer service experience and incredibly slow satellite internet speed.

    I can’t do anything, it’s the worst service I’ve ever owned. I want you to come pick up the equipment, and I want Frontier. The maintenance person here said there are 110 ports, and only 76 trailers so there are plenty of ports. The only reason I got Hughes was frontier sent me there. I am not happy with the service.
