We moved a bit out of town and at the time Hughes was the only provider option. From day 1 our internet was painfully slow, but we understood it came with location and didn’t complain. We also understood in big storms that our internet may go out as it’s satellite, no problem. Well for the last few weeks the internet hasn’t been working for more than 5 minutes at a time. The month before that it was an hour a day if that. We finally decided this was unacceptable and called. The first man we talked to said he was running a test and then said, “Ah, I see exactly what you’re referring to, your interruption in service is because of weather in Oregon where you service comes from”. "Uh... We live in Nevada, you’re telling me we haven’t had internet because of Oregon? Okay well then we want to cancel."
The guy became extremely rude and started telling us it wasn't their problem, and they can’t control weather and it’s not their fault. So we ask to cancel, he transfers us. The next man lets us know if we want to cancel they’ll be charging us for 8 months of service. We explain this isn’t acceptable and we aren’t paying for service we don’t have, and want to have these charges waived and ask to speak to someone higher up. He tells us he’s the highest there is, and that he will look into it to see if it’s really their service. But wait? Your other employee just said he checked and it was. FIFTY minutes on hold he comes back and says it’s NOT weather and it’s actually a faulty modem so they don’t have to let us out of contract. But it’s YOUR modem and your other employee said the modem was fine and it was weather in Oregon. The man’s response? PROVE IT. You heard me right. PROVE IT.
We asked for a copy of our signed contract? Denied. We can view basic terms and conditions online but he won’t send us a copy of what’s signed to prove the length of contract. Is that legal? We explain this is absolute crap and the man stops saying he can’t hear us, hangs up and doesn’t call us back for 10+ minutes. When we finally get him back he tells us he spoke to a superior... Uh wait, you said you were the superior? We ask to simply talk to them ourselves and he puts us on a 15 minute hold to come back and tell us he won’t let us talk to them. We refuse to talk to him and tell him we’re not having relayed info and want to speak directly, he finally transfers us.
This woman tells us that had we called earlier in last few weeks, she would waive the fees and cancel us but we waited too long. So...by us being patient we’re being punished? Then she tries saying we said it’s been doing this for a year, we never said that and that we have no reason to cancel so she’s going to charge us for all 8 months and trying to get off the phone. I had to SCREAM “do not charge me for 8 months or I will file a lawsuit. I did not agree to cancellation then” as she’s repeating now over and over she’s going to charge us and cancel now.
She finally stops, then starts telling me it’s weather and it’s raining where I am. It’s not raining, it hasn’t rained in days... I bring up the other man said it was a faulty modem and that he could see the interruption for the last two months... She says yes, it is and we can replace it and she sees that too. How did you just say it was weather and try telling me it’s raining where I am and now it’s the modem again? Then she tries telling me she can fix the modem on her end... WHAT?! Which is it?!!?
So I ask, "If we keep the internet and you replace the modem are you going to refund us for two months of internet?" Her response? "No. You can’t prove it hasn’t worked consistently for two months." At this point I told her I was done and got off the phone. This is a scam company, I’ve now found they have entire websites dedicated to exposing them.

When the tech came to my home, he asked myself and my husband where we wanted our router. When I told him I wanted it in our living room he stated that it didn't make a difference where the router was located because it was wireless. He proceeded to put the router in our bedroom, which is about 25 feet from our living room. After getting our internet hooked up, our Dish did not recognize our modem. I had to pay an extra $25 for a wifi adapter from Dish to get the modem to be recognized. My husband and I was watching a 25 minute show the other night and when we were watching it, we would have to wait for the show to stop buffering so we could watch it. This happened about 5 times. We have not downloaded a movie since we were so aggravated.

When the HughesNet was finally installed after a 5 day wait, the installer showed me how to access my usage and we saved it in my bookmark. He said I could go here and find information on billing, services, signal strength, the works. The next day when I tried to retrieve the same information now it wants a login/password or some other code I have no idea what you want. When I clicked on the help button it pops up asking for the same information. I tried to go online and contact an agent (a real person) and that doesn't work either. So glad you contacted me, and while you're reading this, you might e-mail me all the information so I can put it in my system. Thank you very much. The installers were a great couple of guys when they finally got here, working in frigid temps. for several hours and never complained.

Before I signed up I asked if there was a trial period. I was told there wasn’t because the tech would check the signal strength and if it wasn’t strong enough, he would cancel the installation. After it was installed I noticed long delays for web pages to load, my voip phone kept losing the signal and my security system didn’t work most of the time. Called customer service and got tech support. They had me reset the modem and kept asking me to agree that it helped with the download speed. Within hours it wasn’t sufficient and all the problems I was experiencing returned. In a few days I cancelled the service.

I signed up with HughesNet on Feb. 11, 2019 and I scheduled the install for Feb. 21,2019. Everything went very well with the install but within a few days I had no internet. I called to find out what the issue was and found out that my dish was out of alignment. They had to schedule a repairman to come and get it fixed, but the earliest date they could get was Mar. 6, 2019 so I would be out of internet service until then.
It is now the day of the repair and after waiting all day for the repairman to arrive, because the time for the repair changed from my original time to a later time in the day, from 11AM-2PM to 2PM-6PM, I got a call from the home office telling me that it was not going to happen today. The repairman had a family emergency and they were trying to find another repairman that could do it and when he/she could do the job. Now I am going to have to be without the internet longer and I have things I need the internet for, like bill paying, shopping, and such. I am not happy right now and if this is the way it is going to be, I may have to go back to my previous service or find another one that can be quicker in getting this that break fixed.

When I called to inquire about getting internet and phone through AFPC the lady I spoke to was very helpful and friendly. So I signed up. The technician who installed was also very friendly and helpful. The tech said that he ported our phone number and we were all set and that it would take a couple days. 10 days later I call customer service (which was frustrating with all the phone prompts... I just want to talk to a human!), and they informed us that there was actually no port request.
So, we went online and did the port request and have to wait ANOTHER two weeks. So, we have to spend an additional $120 to keep our old service active for an extra month due to us thinking the tech telling us he ported our number, waiting two week, maybe, then actually porting our number, and having to wait another two weeks.
When I was trying to reach customer service all I wanted was to talk to a human. The chat function was also frustrating since many of the responses seemed “canned” and automatic. Overall so far I am very unhappy with our customer service experiences. Also, our internet is slow loading basic web pages which is very frustrating since the lady who I spoke to when signing up said we should be able to watch Netflix on 1-2 devices. If that was the case, why is it so slow loading basic webpages??? Very dissatisfied all around.

I am just not happy with it, and I found out that I was lied to. When I called the number for ViaSat, I got a Hughes Net representative, and he told me that Hughes Net had bought out ViaSat; but two days after your technician installed your internet, I received an email wanting to know where their payment was. First it’s, “...I can see the problem, and we’ll have a technician out.” This was a joke. After calling everybody but me, the same guy comes out — a week later — and basically tries to UPSELL, citing his case as, “...well [Hughes] are all you get out here...!”

Also now on 3/3/19 internet is out, another agent gave another 10.00 discount because we can not use the internet, I paid my bill on 2/25/19 for 36.09 which was told to me by Garcia, also he gave me the bottom figure after taxes of $49.39 for March thru July.
Here today when I spoke to Jason a supervisor. He gave me a amount of 47.98 after taxes. Today, I spoke to a Mike, after talking to service rude argumentive agents who stressed me out before going to work on 3/3/19 and after I got off work, trying to charge me $60.00 for my bill this month. That is incorrect. I feel the Consumer Affairs need to make HughesNet responsible for the actions, and stop trying to change the consumer bill and add fees that are not due. This to me is stealing and it need to stop. I do not even owe my bill until the 28th of the month and they are trying to get me to renew my contract for 2 years for the bonus that Garcia gave me, this was not the deal. Also they tried to bill me for the modem when it is already included in the bill. Please correct.

Two year guaranteed contract, first few months of service $52.15, which would be the monthly cost for two years. Now after approx. 6 months they jumped the cost to $72.15 stating that I had to call in every three months and request the extra $20.00 credit, which I wasn't ever told I had to do this. I do auto pay so I didn't realize this until I was checking my bank statement. I called in late Dec. or Early Jan. to complain and was told they would correct the billing. Did they NO, called back today and was again told it would be corrected, wait and see. I consider this tactic a bait and switch game. All that HughesNet needs to do to correct this is have their billing system automatically give the $20.00 credit. No they want you to forget to call in every 3 months so they can get the $20.00 extra from its customers.

It is hard to reconcile that on mainland USA only 2GB of service is available and internet speed of 25mbps! Something needs to be done to improve this and equalize accessibility no matter where you are in America! Residents in smaller countries such as Jamaica West Indies have access to far better service than is available in Hopkins!!

We paid $90 per month for 20 Gigs of data, no ability to stream Netflix, constant freezing and buffering; and all customer service calls were difficult as the reps all had very thick foreign accents. We weren’t allowed to increase our data... But we're instructed to stream from 2 am until 6 am. Hughes doesn’t have anything close to unlimited data. We were able to purchase a Verizon MiFi (puck) to supply internet (WiFi). We also use LTE on our cells. Dealing with the frustration of Hughes and lack of service was maddening.

However I was still able to use Frontier for online gaming, ever since I switched over to HughesNet I've had to spend more in order to fix this issue, meaning my hotspot. Faster speeds, no online gaming. I feel like that information should be the first thing you see when you search Hughes Net. Now I'm signed in to your contract for two years. I called because I was having trouble with my pictures not downloading in the evenings. The tech worked with me extensively with my service. He gave me tips & information that helps me a lot. I really appreciate his help and the time he took with me. My service was working great when I hung up. I am elderly and live alone and he was very patient in explaining information & how things work. Thank you.

Does not preform as I was told it would. Won’t work with my iPhones. Signal buffers when l try to watch movies. Don’t know what to do. Would like to get what I thought I was signing up and paying for. Had service less than two weeks. Hope this gets a response.

Setting up the new service location by phone and the actual site installation was simple, efficient, and completed as requested.

I had a very bad experience with two other tv providers. i.e. No response, very long wait times, insufficient communication, etc. I called HughesNet after a research online. I was amazed that my appointment was set up for two days after my call. The technician did an outstanding job. Not only did I get to watch the Super Bowl the same day installation was done. I love the programs and love the fact that my toddler granddaughter can watch her programs on her own tv.

VERY VERY DISSATISFIED. All my 2000+ friends/colleagues will know how poor QoS (Quality of Service ) you are providing. When you speak to the DISH Sales to order the Service they promise you everything. It's a shame how you treat your customers.

When the man installed the service he assured me I would have excellent WiFi reception! Not so!!! Many times callers could not hear me even hanging up because they thought I had hung up on them. Very frustrating when trying to do business.

Was sold a booster and never received. The installer sold me a booster for 138 dollars. A week later I had ViaSat come out. Nowhere could they find a so call booster. Even ViaSat said they should have showed it to me at least. But I don’t even know where the heck they supposedly put it. Called customer service. They told me it’s my problem and contact the installer. Awesome, like I know the installers number. Never again. Already in contact with my credit card company to fight this.

Until today, I'm Happy with the service, I suffer sometimes some service cuts, also very low signal. But I mostly suffer service problems when bad weather or strong wind are near or at Quebradillas zone.

INCOMPLETE SERVICE. My Joey voice remote still does not work yet you are billing me for full service, your salesman very carefully did not tell me that I would need two dishes on my house until it was too late to change my mind.

Way too slow and very expensive! The only option I had for my location. Extremely disappointed in this internet service!

It was to be hooked up in area where it could be direct wired to other units. The dish for the hopper was in wrong place. Needs to be off roof, roof repaired, drilled into house incorrectly, was a tube to go through. Hike in house needs to be filled where the cable was brought in.

The installation went good, but when I try to hook my smart TV up to the WiFi it won't connect... Not very happy, shouldn't have to research something that should happen automatically, wasn't a problem with Gen 3 but won't work with Gen 5.

Did not install wall plate with connector inside of home. The cable is run directly from dish to equipment inside of home. That is cheap and lazy. When I move the owner is stuck with a cable that cannot be removed if they don't want to use it. You should send someone to fix it.

Why does it take so long to have my phone number “ported”!!!??? I was told 3 to 10 business days. Still paying for two services!!

Slower speeds than my parents right down the road and they have ViaSat. Was hoping to be able to at least have two phones connected to the internet at a time and it slows it down to a crawl. We were hoping to use Netflix but service is too slow to even let it load. Not happy with the speed of this at all.

When I signed with HughesNet, your ad said free installation. I took that to mean installed and working. Now, I am told I must spend $170+ to have someone come and do this for me. I am a senior and retired. Do not have this money. Service is doing me no good.

Service operator (pleasant) was extremely helpful, knew what I wanted and how to do it. My internet had been suspended for several months. I NEED IT TO COME BACK ON, she did it and told me it would be back rated for fee, and it would start in an hour. She was Right, I need to thank her and HughesNet for being so helpful!!

They should be embarrassed to call this high speed let alone dependable, worst internet out there, don't let them fool you into a contract. Customer service sucks, and do not even think about trying to do anything important with this sub par internet, it's just awful!!!
