When I called and signed up for this service I was told there was NO hidden costs or charges but when I called to inquire about sending me a paper bill I was told there is a $5.00 extra monthly charge for this service which I was not informed of when I ask about it. This is the way I do business not having my credit card automatically charged. I was also told I would see a lot faster speed on my internet but I don't see where it is any faster than my DSL network. I am really kind of disappointed in HughesNet.

Still don't know when it will be back up to speed.

I was unhappy with CenturyLink and hoping that this would solve the slow response of the internet, it’s slower yet. When streaming a video, it will buffer quite often. Much slower response than what I was use to. I have received a couple of request to complete a survey of the voice option. I still don’t have my phone number so I haven’t used the phones yet. I guess all and all, technology has a long way to go when it comes to internet service for rural areas. I will suffer through this for the 2 years but will be looking for another option at that time.

I have had no choice but to have HughesNet due to my living location (East Tennessee Mountains). It’s horrible! Weather is not the only factor that affects the service even tho this happens quite often. The fact that they only give us 25gb a month to use and then throttle us back to less than 1gb is ridiculous! As many of you can guess I have decent internet for about a week then horrible internet for the rest of the month!!!! If we moved just 30 miles down the road we would be offered a better plan on a different satellite! I feel the people of Appalachia are intentionally targeted by this! This unfair practice has me getting ready to move from my dream location just for better internet so my wife can work and do her classes from home!
We have the option to obtain more usage but at an extremely marked up price to as much as 100$ for another 25gb! Which is why they can say no hard data limits on their commercials! So in my opinion we are targeted as ignorant hillbillies who don’t need good things as has been my entire life! If not so then why can’t we get the unlimited plan like they do just 30 miles away?!

I have a family member with this company so I decided to go with HughesNet/At&T DirecTV. I am very dissatisfied that there is some much DUPLICATION of programming on the TV service and it is sold a "variety".
I also am very dissatisfied that I don't get my local station and to this I am calling **. I don't understand how you can broadcast 500 channels of every other station, even from around the world, but not my local one. You certainly charge enough that one, or two more channels wouldn't make that much of a difference. The other facet I am VERY DISSATISFIED with is that you cap my usage of internet data. The internet was slow, I called customer service to assess. They asked me to run A download speed test, it took 20 to 25 minutes to test. The end result required a tech to come and see if they could rearrange the equipment or possibly try a different router, but the tech did not make it on time to any appointment, had to reschedule twice, and they said they would try a different tech, to make sure it wasn't something that the particular tech didn't know or just a new set of eyes. Each time it ended up being the same person even though they assured me that it would be someone new. I cancelled my service, 1 because I am not using the internet, 2. 2 years is a very long time to live with excruciatingly slow internet, and 3. I had problems from the beginning and had to call for technical support within the first week. Over the 5 months I had Hughes Net, I had to call numerous times because of the poor service. In fact, they sent a tech person almost 200 miles to solve my problem one time. It lasted about a week before the problems began all over again. I eventually dropped the phone service because of dropped calls or conversations cutting in and out.
The thing that really was wrong was that they never told me how data was used up when I first got the service. I called and asked how data was used up. I was told that any device left on used up the data. Phone calls also used up data. I have a Google Home and as long as it stayed on, it used up data. I got the 10 gps plan and used up this data in about 3 days! Once the data is used up, they begin to slow their unlimited data to the point that by the end of the billing cycle, I could not even access my email. I am no longer with Hughes Net. I called Hughes Net today feeling rather bewildered about removing the Radio from the dish on the roof. I am well over 60 years of age and knew I could not easily remove the part without serious injury. The 1st agent was so professional and kind. She understood my dilemma, checked with a supervisor, and then brought resolve to the perplexing problem. I did not get her name, unfortunately.
I had to call back to Hughes Net when I realized I did not know what to do with the remaining now useless dish on the roof. This time the agent by the name of Desiree helped me. She was as kind and professional as the 1st agent. Ms. Desiree smartly gave me the number of the office of the Technicians. He in a fine way after asking a few pertinent questions gave me information that surely saved everyone from wasted time and money.
I know my response is rather lengthy. It is unusual for me to agree to respond to anyone's survey request -- let alone take this much time in responding. In conclusion, I have come to have a special respect for the name Hughes Net, a company of which I never knew until last month when I responded to a mailer using Hughes Net's name, and strangely a contact number that was not a legitimate number of your company's. I signed up having gross misinformation whether intentional or out of ignorance. Later, feeling highly stressed and scammed, a highly skilled and discerning supervisor worked for me to be released from the contract.
In closing, I want to thank that Supervisor. He was so calm, courteous, and professional, I later felt ashamed at how stressed I was feeling. Hughes Net, your knack for choosing good people to represent your company and name, actually demonstrated to me how important it is to listen to people and deal with people in a genuine, respectful, professional manner while seeking to resolve the problem. I work in a highly stressful hospital setting. THANK YOU ALL. I will remember your name and share it. Respectfully, Doris.

Employee called two days early wanting to install. I was having lunch with a friend nearby and agreed to meet at my house in an hour. Installer was polite, and I did not supervise the installation. Upon completion I neglected to scrutinize his work. He did not thread the cable through existing opening and white cable drapes over dark green trim. When I pointed this out to him, he said other installers on other dishes had done a great job. It was late I the day, he was picking flowers for his girlfriend...weary me (divorce, driving across country to my home in sad shape) I should have had him redo it. Your customer service said, "Too bad", I sighed off on it. I was told it would be $125 to redo, really.

We had an unauthorized use on our bankcard and were waiting for new one. We also lost our dear son and hadn't paid attn. The gentleman was kind and extended us till the end of month to resolve the problem. It really helped relieve the pressure at this difficult time. I called today 5/11/19 to make the payment and spoke with a lovely woman named Klay. She was very patient and also noted that we were low on data? Sorry not tech savvy but anyway added an extra token. We are raising grandkids so they are always playing fortnight. You definitely have 2 top notch employees who are an asset to your company. The company that installed the dish on our roof didn’t put it where we asked them to put it. We asked that it be placed on the back of the house beside the other dish that’s up there and they placed it on the front of our house. We called the company that installed it and asked them to make it right. They said they would get back with us and have never called us back. We would like it moved where we wanted it and the holes in the roof fixed.

HughesNet is the worst WiFi service. Barely any or no service most of the time. I even upgraded to Gen 5 at a higher cost at the advice of the sales associate. Big mistake as I still have no service. I only have 1 device, my phone that I use and it works perfect on any other WiFi carrier. I have called numerous times and had technicians come out and say that everything is connected properly. When I call, they also say everything is working properly and offer no other options as a way to get service. I would give this company zero stars if there was an option.

I was misrepresented when I changed to HughesNet. I used this company 20 years ago when the internet was new, especially in Bertram, Tx. I left them then because their connection was slow to no go. I went back to them because I was using a remote stick and it did not allow us to watch Netflix, etc. HughesNet said I would have plenty of data time and if it did run out (I asked how it could run out since they advertise unlimited and they said it is unlimited it just slows down when you have hit our data limit, slows down to 1.5 minutes per transaction!!). There is nothing I can do but cancel which is a $385 charge. Do not use this service. It is certainly bait an switch.

Since I haven’t had the service long enough to give a true review, I will say that it’s been pretty good so far. It is, by NO means, as fast as actual broadband, but we have finally been able to use Netflix without any problems. But, we were also given a promotional offer to have UNLIMITED data for the first 20 days, let’s see what happens once that expires. Fingers crossed. As far as accessing the internet using other devices (phones & laptops) I am still only seeing a minor improvement to our previous satellite service.

I went into Hughes net. I signed up and was assured if I was not happy I could terminate. I had the service for 1 year and 3 months. They could not even give me 20% of the internet that I paid for. I couldn't even run Netflix and my computer timed out. After endless phone calls constantly they just kept putting me off. They came out approximately 3 to 4 times. I spent countless hours on the phone. Yet I have no internet. I have done speed tests and they have done speed tests. Everything should be notated. Every single time I called and all the open orders. I had to go to Verizon and get a Jetpack just to run my computer.
I was paying $99 a month. I went up to the Hughes Net that I had purchased the service from. They had them change satellites. I even had their own employees tell me it was oversold. In the contract you are guaranteed 80% of your speed. They could not even give me 20%. When I talk to the Brownsville Texas office I spoke with Joseph and Josh. Both men said that they were the boss and I could not go above them. And Josh on the last phone call I made sure it was in front of a Hughes Net service provider that I had bought the service from. She listened on speakerphone to this man tell me basically tough. I would not get out of my contract without paying when they had screwed me the entire time.
I went to them before the grace period was up. They told me they would. My dish was cracked and they would send someone out. When they command came out he refused to get on the roof. I am so upset at Hughes Net. I will never ever ever ever use them. Joseph at the Brownsville office and Josh are supposed to be the face of HughesNet. They refused to let me go above them so I had to Google it. Well the gentleman I talk to actually refunded my money for one month and then let me out of the contract.
You know what's so disgusting about it is that what they ever let their mother be treated like that. Would they ever pay for a service for 15 months that didn't work. But yes they did. Even when I went above the Brownsville Texas office it was notated all the open orders never been able to deliver the service and I thought one month's refund at one point in time the speed was so bad they told me to pay $65 for 4 months but I still got still $64 and no internet for $99 a month no internet. They didn't care.
I have perfect credit and I didn't want it to get ruined. I refused to pay a disconnection fee when I legally went about everything the right way. The way they talk to me was horrific. And you can prove it by listen to the recordings that they say that they take at the beginning of call. I would suggest no one to ever ever buy service amusement. How they sleep at night I do not know.

A ticket was entered 3 weeks ago when the technician found slow speeds. We have called repeatedly about incessant buffering when attempting to watch videos or movies. Tonight we called to get an update and were told that it was not going to be fixed until we paid the bill, which was not due until the 25th of this month. Let me add - I have been a customer for over 9 years. So we paid it and then the rep hung up on us. He did not call us back. We called back again and were told that we could do troubleshooting again or escalate the issue. So we chose to escalate an issue that we reported 3 weeks ago that was escalated then. During this entire time the video is still buffering. With all the issues, we have changed our package to the most expensive and have even bought tokens. Now we have to wait another 3 days for a return call. High speed internet where you live is a bunch of horse manure with Hughes Net.

Being in the country limits what service you can get for internet. In Washington state I can get one that uses fiber optics but here in Indiana was stuck with satellite. Connected with HughesNet but everything slow and any rain, snow or wind and you would lose everything. Never did get a full month of service without interruptions. When I moved into town I was told my service would be faster. I stated I did not want anything that made me have any more commitments. I just wanted the existing service moved. Well when I called them after having 2 1/2 years of service they tell me I’m not meeting my commitments and will owe them over $400. Needless to say I will not be paying that but will be placing complaints through every outlet I know. If necessary will take them to court. Will never recommend this company for anything. Only reason I had them was they were the only choice. My cell phone didn’t get a signal in the country.

We had attempted to enhance our poor Hughesnet service by upgrading to Gen 5. We called the “number on your screen” to do so. A tech (not from our regular server company) arrived. He had been injured in a fall shortly before and was having a problem with the upgrade equipment/connections. He was distracted and very confused with the install. We were not advised about any fees for an early termination.
Recently, we went with another Internet service as we were still poorly served by Hughes. Now, we have been charged an “early termination” fee which we feel is both unfair and unwarranted, having been with Hughesnet since 2017. We have been on the phone for nearly 2-hours trying to resolve this dispute with Hughesnet reps with no results. We object strongly to this charge and will follow up with additional inquiries and objections.
