Sometimes the download speed is as advertised but other times even when the weather is good and I try to watch a show on Amazon it pauses every couple of minutes for 30 sec or so. It is nice to have internet but don’t Plan on watching movies. It also seems to use the available data faster than I would expect.

The installer was to arrive between 8-11 AM. He never showed up so I called the phone number provided and was told the installer will now show up between 4-5 PM and was to call me when he was en route. He never called and never showed up. Wasted nine hours of my time today.

Updated on 01/05/2020: After working on it for an hour, the internet service slowed down. It only started working when I called and went out about an hour after hanging up. Customer support person was really nice and tried to help but the service provided lack of any use. I am upset for having to pay for a service like this. Not reliable at all.
Original: Even Netflix only works for minutes at a time and have to reset. Everything times out when trying to get connected. WiFi for the phone only conflicts with the cellular data because it is not strong enough. When you use WiFi to improve reception of cell phone you cannot make a call.

I am not getting any better service/speed than when I was using my phone as a hotspot!! Very very disappointed!!! For the price I pay, my internet speed should be much faster!! I now regret signing up for HughesNet.

I hate the Internet because it buffs all the time buffers and I hate the people who installed the satellite. So I don’t have nothing good to say whatsoever. I want to cancel the service. Only had it for a couple of days and they said that I couldn’t and stuff. And they didn’t do nothing with the installer. How they installed it on our facia which is custom-made for the house. And we're supposed to sell the house and they got screws in it and they didn’t do it underneath.

Opening mail or surfing the Internet is sooo slow. We can’t even watch movies on Netflix because it stops, goes to buffering, then times out. Not happy with the service at all. When I asked for this service I specifically stated what the household would be doing. We did not get what we asked for.

The tech that came out to install was very nice. The service is slow with only 1 component operating. Service is also intermittent at times. Disappointed as I thought the service would be faster. Not sure that I would recommend Hughes Net to anyone.

Installed 11-18-19. Few adjustments made and I still don’t have the service I was promised. I consider this a breach of contact although I’m sure I’m screwed here. If someone wants to pay for service the company does not deliver, then sign up with Hughes Net. I’m sure no future customers will get the opportunity to read this, but I feel better now.

We were not given the correct information about the costs of our service, the options for plans, nor the service calls. We are very disappointed with our speeds and with the misrepresentation by the sales staff. In addition, I am extremely unhappy with the fact that additional options are added to our account without my consent. I resent that the obligation is now on placed on me to discontinue these services or be charged additional fees. This is a poor business practice. If I had any other choice for Internet, I would not be using Hughes Net.

The house had a Hughesnet dish already from the previous owner. The installation tech simply tore it off and left it on the ground. My data rate is often less than 1 Mbps. My cell service is faster and I may switch to a cellular modem. I would like to know if there is a grace period or if I will be charged for early termination.

We had HughesNet internet service installed and were very satisfied. However, we soon learned that although the internet worked well as far as the computers were concerned, our OOMA phone was not compatible with HughesNet and we had to cancel. Everyone we dealt with at HughesNet was very professional and courteous.

Service sucks, I can't use Facebook or watch on demand with this service. I can't even use Disney plus due to buffering. I am going to cancel my service if it doesn't change. I am very sad that I was lied to before I chose this company.

We can’t stream, watch on demand, load email, our daughter can’t do her schooling as she goes to online school, I cannot connect my wireless ovens or our wireless sprinkler system. It constantly buffers, says poor internet connection or no signal.

Since I have had Hughes Net, I have been very disappointed with the internet and the phone service. For starters, it takes almost 15 minutes to log in which in between it says connection lost. It takes a while for me to wait on a website to be connected. I will be talking on the phone, and approximately every 30 minutes, it disconnects my call. I thought Hughes Net was suppose to be better than my previous experience with AT&T. Go figure.

Was told high speed internet capable. I can understand streaming being an issue, but I can't hardly even get standard websites to work. Streaming videos is a painful process, and with my certifications requiring online classes, my wife's online classes for her graduate degree and three kids with homework online, it's almost impossible to get anything done at home, leaving the only other option being to drive to school and stay there longer, which is not an option for the kids or the wife most days. Using 4G cell is not an option, due to the lack of coverage in our house. Without 4G as a backup, and the fact that the internet itself is absolutely horrible, I will most likely be paying the early termination fee and breaking my contract with Hughes Net as soon as I can afford it. I'll go with DSL if I have to, as that may be a slower connection on paper, but should be far more reliable in real life.

Slower internet than we had before. My husband was upset. They drilled a hole in the wall to bring in the cable instead of using the basement like Century Link had done, also don't like the satellite on the roof--didn't realize that was a part of it!

On 11/29/19 our internet service did not work. I contacted customer service. The first representative I spoke with had me reset the modem, twice, which did not help. She then transferred me to another rep who had me log onto the web address of the modem and try to restart the software in the modem. This process was very long, which had me on the phone for over an hour. I was told by the last representative that he could not fix the problem and would have to send a tech. He said that I would receive a phone call in 3-4 hours to set this up.
After 9 hours, I did not receive a call. I then called customer service again and asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Robert. He assured me someone would call me. I expressed my major disappointment that I have not received a call, as it was very disruptive to not have internet. He then gave ME a number to call to set up a tech. I stated that I didn’t feel it was my responsibility to make this call. I asked him to call me in the morning to ensure I had received the call. He stated he would not be in until 4:00 in the afternoon.
I asked for him to tell another supervisor to call me in the morning. I never received a call. Another frustration. I finally received a call the next day from the service who sets up the tech visit. They would not have a tech available until the following week, Dec. 6. I said this was unacceptable as my job depends on the use of the internet. She apologized and stated there was nothing she could do because she didn’t have a tech available until then.
The tech came this morning and had it fixed in 10 minutes. He reset the software in the modem. He stated that he has seen this multiple times in refurbished modems. I have gone and entire week without internet. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable! I have only had your service for 3 weeks and I am already dealing with outages. I will not pay for a week of service I did not have. The fact that I had horrible and unacceptable customer service, should be enough reason to terminate my contract WITHOUT penalty. If I cannot rely on your internet being constant and then if it does go out, waiting a full week for service, I cannot use your service. Again, this should be enough reason to discontinue my service WITHOUT penalty. Please respond ASAP.

Difficult to load movies. I have to keep resetting my router in order for my television to pick it up and the video quality is poor. Most of the movies and television shows are outdated and already in syndication or playing on cable. The internet service is no faster than my phone's Wi-Fi.

This is my only option for internet. Was promised 25 mbps and am getting 4-10. Customer service has been great, but my service is still not properly working and they can’t give me a date it will be fixed. Would like to have answers. I am losing money every day.

I switched to Hughes Net from Spectrum and I regret it. My internet service does not even work accordingly. I already knew online gaming would be slow but my electronic devices unfortunately do not even work while being connected to the internet. I have to be using my own cellular data instead since I cannot even use the internet I am paying for.

The service sucks and the installer was no better. He never returned our phone call to reinstall the equipment in another spot. The WiFi is super slow and is always saying buffering gets irritating. I don't even know when my bill is due.

Couldn’t be more disappointed and I feel as though I was absolutely misled. Purchased service expecting 25 mbps. Actually delivered less than 1 mbps. Yes, a fraction of 1 mbps was realized. Tech support told me it was a known issue and no resolution date was available. I cancelled it.

Internet speed is seldom as high as advertised and varies greatly from minute to minute. I hope the new satellite in 2020 improves service. Couldn't keep my old phone number because HughesNet incorrectly believed it was an out-of-area number. First assigned number was an area code 2500 miles away. At my request, they changed it to a code in my state, though not a local number. New customer, and it's too soon be be more specific. (When I clicked Submit just now, popup said, "Connection Lost. Please Try Again.")

The guy who installed was great but it is slow as hell. Takes forever to load anything. Can’t watch videos unless I use my phone data. Loading pictures take forever. Not happy about paying for internet I can barely use. Needs to be quicker.

The employer tried to assist me in getting my rebate but when I front I submit it it will not go through. I have downloaded invoices and done everything I was supposed to. I have seen some very negative remarks about the difficulty in getting rebates.

On the 5th of December, paid our bill. The personnel that assisted was very helpful. Answered all questions & appreciate the manner in which it was handled. I would recommend Hughes Net to all of my friends. I hope that in the future all our correspondence with the customer service personnel is as pleasant.

Your service rep was extremely helpful in explaining my questions regarding the usage of tokens I had available that were free vs having to buy extra tokens should I ever need them. I did not understand that the 18 tokens I had listed were mine to use. I thought that was all that was available to buy should I need them. It is confusing since when you click it on it says to confirm purchase.

Worst experience trying to cancel subscription. Was told there was no back end charge. Fulfilled the 2 year contract. Was manipulated and then lied to about a termination fee. In the end made to feel I was wrong. That I don’t pay my bills. Very disappointed. Worst customer service ever!!

Our internet has been slow for several months. Called for help. They say everything is fine on their end. Called our phone company on our bones. They said everything was fine. HughesNet was going to send help out. We waited all day Saturday for them to come changed our plans and the very last minute they called. Said they could not come out that day.

I have been attending local public meetings concerning services to rural residents, and I guess it's a general problem of numbers and speed... People spoke of fibers being laid at the new developments, but nothing for us. One man had a neighbor who had built his own tower. Signals are affected by winds and trees. They slow down evenings when commuters are home from work. Downloads slow down, and important connections are lost.

I did have an issue with when purchasing it said the total was ~ $450 and it charged $550. I'm thinking it was considering the $100 visa gift card. But would of been nice if it was more clear and concise and I had issues trying to apply the free installation coupon thing a coworker had given me. I went ahead and paid the full but thought I'd mention the issues I ran into so that maybe things could be made easier for the next people.

I cannot watch a full movie on NetFlix. I get maybe 4 minutes then it says we are unable to continue. I received one call and made one call in the last 5 days and it continually broke up, I could not receive a full word from the other party one being a call to Hughes Net. I am thoroughly disgusted with this whole system. This has been an ongoing problem from the beginning.

Customer service is horrible. Can barely understand them, talk over you, don’t answer your questions, didn’t fix the problem. My service at home is not consistent. Only reason I got the internet is to do my college classes online. Don’t load half the time. I’ve had to leave my home and go to a family member's house with Spectrum to do my homework. After I’ve called several times to solve the issue I get absolutely nowhere. I’m going to cancel my service. Worst experience I’ve ever had.

With an advertised rate of 25 download speed, it is instead 2-5 most of the time with highest ever at about 10. Videos are constantly interrupted to download more, plus slow download times and sometimes won't even connect at all. You should be sued for false advertising.

We just got service on November 15th and will be moving into the home full time effective December 14th. So far, it is one of the best satellite internet companies we've had at the house. Streaming is low and ease of use is highly appreciated. Thank you.

The technician did a good job setting up the dish and connecting it to the modem. However, I was not pleased with the mess he left on the lawn where he dug the hole to set the pole. Also, he left some of the materials that he did not utilize which we were not sure what to do with them.

When HughesNet installed my internet they put a dish in my yard (First of all, I didn’t realize I would get 2 dishes-one for internet and one for DirecTV). Then, the installer dug up my prized Solomon’s Seal bush and decided to place the dish in another location. The internet is terrible! I can’t stream videos on YouTube and Facebook, and internet is slow. I HATE IT!

I signed up with DISH because of constant cost increases with competitor. Then I found out that they collude with you folks. Your gentleman was very courteous and efficient but short on any instructions. I think I signed up for things I have no interest in. Then he said that he was giving me a temporary phone number and I would have to ask to be ported back to my old number but that that I could not cancel my old service which could take up to 10 days. Well it has taken the better part of a month and an additional $200 to keep it active. Then your internet service is slower than what I had in the 90's in Florida. Really unacceptable. Then I got charged for installation while all your ads say it is free. I am into you folks for better than $200 plus what keeping my old service is another $200, Am I a happy camper? Heck NO. You have my number. And then a young lady told me the service will double in cost after the first year.

The technician came early which was good so I thought however the technician drilled a hole in the middle of my wall, left the hole uncovered and didn’t clean up behind him. Needless to say they Need to retrain their technicians on the right way to install the cables.

The internet and the wifi seem much slow than my provider in Ohio Spectrum. It must be the fiber-optics that Spectrum use versus the dish. The Wifi takes minutes sometimes to load the data and my cell phone info just spins sometimes when I try to connect to the internet.

The signal is slow. I always have to rest the WiFi on my TV. Never English is my second language and it was not clear that you would handcuff me to a two contract. The satellite had to be put on my roof not on a pole like I asked for. This is been a terrible experience. I need to know how to get out of this. It was never explained if I could go month to month. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I’m a minority. The installer was was very nice and helpful but I know he must be an IO. It’s not his fault the rep on the phone was not truthful.

Our installer was knowledgeable and great to work with. He was fast and did a great job. However we have not had much luck with the system working. We have only been able to use one time. It doesn't seem to want to work on our Dish tv or Netflix.

I had no problems getting my upgrade from HughesNet and it was cheaper than what I had been paying. The associate was very helpful and answered all my questions. I am happy with the service since I live in the country and would not have internet access otherwise.

When I called on 11/21/19 that salesperson neglected to tell me the total cost or why I was paying $129.98 in the first place. Let alone why the big difference from the $79.98 @ month. She said everything was included already including my $9.99 lease fee. Since all I had was enough to pay that $79.98 I had to call back 11/22.
Instead of calling I figured it would be faster if I signed up online. Now on there it broke down I'm paying almost another $100 for some lease agreement. It said my lease fee was $14.99 striked through to offer me that reduced $9.99/m except when I got to checkout it jumped back to $14.99. Still no mention of taxes. My bank is saying you want another nearly $14. I'm so sorry we don't have this currently. It's so bad we can't hardly open up single web page with that reminder to pay.
I need to know what I'm paying. I am disabled. Get paid 1x per month. I need to know what I'm paying or I can't keep this service. I can't even watch anything on my Fire Stick that's why I told them from the jump I need internet and the saleslady never said how long I have to keep this service. If I can't watch my fire stick or my Live TV this type of Internet won't work for me.

The installation went great, the installer showed up early but called first. He cleaned up after himself and explained how sat internet worked. So far we're pleased with the service, not the fastest but out here it beats what we were using (about as fast as dial-up at times). Everyone we've worked with at HughesNet has been friendly and helpful.

Stop outsourcing calls. I was told several times that you people would be able to provide service but turns out you don’t. This was after I paid for service and sent equipment which did not work for my system - although I was told it would work. I have never been placed on hold so long in my life. You people have the worst customer service ever as well as the worst service. I will do everything in my power to ensure my friends, family, and even strangers, don’t do business with you. Isn’t remotely near the speed that’s been advertised. 25 mbps, it’s definitely not that. Slower than the old dial up modems. Too bad I’m bound for 2 years. HughesNet should not be allowed to advertise speed like that. I’d even be ok if it was as fast as my old Verizon WiFi hotspot.

I recently wanted to upgrade my service. The Hughesnet representative went far beyond just excellent customer service. He spent all the time I required to explain all the details so that I could understand. Everything from those moments on the phone, onward went, in a word, seamlessly. I was given a great deal & treated very well. The installation of equipment went fantastic with a very professional installer who did a first rate job. My takeaway from Hughesnet (and I've been with them now well over ten years) is that they will go the extra mile for their customers and seem genuinely interested in making me a satisfied customer. They also seem to have a very positive & enthusiastic attitude about the company they work for. A+ rating all the way!

I was told their 20mb would be enough in this household for our needs, including streaming. Nope, even any social media app comes in goes. I was told, "Oh upgrade to 30 mb," which I did. Absolutely NO difference. I can’t stream my Vudu acct, or Amazon Prime. Ipad is so slow or loses connection. Should be a lemon law, I’m stuck in a 2 year contract of nothing. Do not get.

I signed up for Hughes Net in April of 2019. I figured the internet would be spotty when compared to Charter and other internet services but mine was unusable 90% of the time. I couldn't use my internet, stream TV or even browse on my phone. When I called them about it, they said that I'd used all my data. Which was of course nonsense because it was the same from day ONE. This brings me to my next problem, when I signed up I was never informed about the two year contract, never received a copy of it or told I was even on a data plan. They also put me on auto-pay which I never signed up for and I never received one email or physical mail, bill.
When I went to cancel my services they of course wanted a large fee to do so. I asked for the fee to be billed to me but they took the entire fee all at once because they had kept my card on file even after I had canceled my services. When I called to have them stop the charges, they refused to do so, making up excuses even tho the charge had not gone through yet. I made them take my card off file then. Then they told me they would send a box for my equipment and they never informed me that I would need to send the radio back to them. I believe they did this on purpose because the fee for the radio being un-returned is $200! Since I never received a contract I was unaware of this on my own and left it behind when I moved out of my rental. Overall, this has been the worst experience I've had with a business and I would never recommend them to anyone!

After going through two (2) 20 minute wait periods, both of which were “accidentally” disconnected I finally got someone who (says he) got the service visit canceled. He’s the ONLY reason I gave you three stars. Also, your automated system is NOT effective. It seemed forever to get a representative. Other than the time spent on the phone waiting and being disconnected twice, your service was OK. HAHA.

This is the worst company to deal with customer service and tech wise. Have NEVER received the speed (or even close to it) as advertised and paid for. Had many technicians out to change the dish ,gen5 box, and different echostar satellites. After being promised and given many credits they still continued to charge my credit card. I really wish I had done more research before going with them. I am now changing service providers.

First of all is the answering service. 5 times I had to redial. The voice kept dropping the call. Then when I did get to someone, Your phone service hung up on me 5 times, after I was on hold for 17 minutes. Extremely poor service, especially when you profess to say you are rated high with BBB.

Stay away!! The service is horrible and there is not enough data to do anything other than check your email. Then I sent the equipment back and they still are trying to charge me a fee. Fighting it out with them now. This company sucks!

My phone and internet went down on Saturday. Since I had to find a way into town to call and report it, I couldn't do anything until today. It took me three calls to get the issue resolved. The first two times the reps sent me on a mission to get information for them. This was impossible because of the directions given to me. The third time I called a rep named Adam helped me within minutes. He actually cared about how long I was without service and how far I was from the nearest town. Thank you Adam. The first two need more training in the technology side and customer service.

My internet is terrible. The signal doesn't stay in longer than a minute or so and y'all charged me 20 extra bucks a month than advertised. I believe I pay 59.99 instead of 39.99 because of where I am located. Why would I pay extra and it still not work?

I was overcharged when I should have paid $80.00 they charged me $103.00. To say I was upset is an understatement. I stopped autopay so this wouldn't happen again where I was robbed, and I can determine what is fair to pay per our agreement.

This is the slowest and worst internet service ever! The streaming capabilities are not capable. If you have any other option for internet DO NOT GET HUGHESNET!!! Slow internet, Very Expensive! Streaming does not work and you can't watch a movie or Hulu, Netflix is so distorted you can barely see the picture. False advertising. False claims of services. Should be illegal to charge so much for so little!!

I moved to an area where I only half to options for internet providers. I chose Hughes Net because I thought their customer service was excellent. Upon receiving the service, however, it worked maybe half the time. I had to use my cell phone's hot spot in order to get my homework done or watch Netflix majority of my time with them. I called and told them of the problem but they said my service was running just fine but they would have someone out to make sure it was all properly set up. The technician came when I wasn't home but he said he didn't need access to the router so I didn't have to be there. I never heard from him again whether anything was wrong or not. It worked for a day, then went down again. I called again, they again said it was working just fine but no updates from the technician.
They also added extra charges on my account monthly that I had to call and get an explanation on and had to fight with them to get them removed, I had to pay the charge and then they would credit it on the next bill. I then had to move unexpectedly, I thought my move was approved but suddenly I had to make a choice to move or send my foster daughter to a new home. I informed Hughes net of this move and when they went to set it up the apartments I moved to did not allow satellite. Hughes net then tried to charge 400 dollars to cancel even though it was not my fault I had to cancel.
After weeks of fighting with them they decided to send me a box and let me return the equipment and not have a cancelation charge. However, they sent the box to the wrong address, I never received any emails or any type of notifications reminding me or updating me on my account. I had put the router up in my closet so my kids didn't get ahold of it. I also work two jobs and I'm in nursing school with three kids, so I completely forgot about the Hughes net account. Four months later, on December 1st they withdrew 315 dollars from my account without informing me or anything. And they are saying even if I send the equipment back within a week, I will not receive my refund until January. This company only cares about the customer before they are a customer. Once you are signed up and in their contract they do not care if you are happy or not. Absolutely the worst internet service and customer service experience I have ever had.

Agent unable to successfully change my new telephone account over. Therefore unable to open internet. No matter what I do it will not recognize new telephone number. Very frustrating for me, my niece had this reinstated for me, so I could have internet again.

When called it's unlimited but you only get so much usage! Don't matter at beginning or end still slow! When I got the service I said I wanted it for laptop and Netflix. I was assure it would be fine! My contract is up soon will be getting someone else!

Internet was slow yesterday and the day before then stopped working today showing an exclamation. I proceeded to for further assistance as nothing I did worked. As a result we figured out the problem and I was very satisfied with the customer service I experienced today.

I was trying to understand the tokens and the lady helped me to sign up so I could use them in the future so we went through everything to be signed up. I now can buy tokens when when I need to use more high speed.

Your sales person was dishonest and misleading. Needed to use my mother's card for 1 payment to get the service started because of my credit then went on to bill her 3 times, causing her account to overdraft each time. He only had permission to bill this card one time. To date, this issue remains unresolved. Legal action will be forthcoming.

This is undoubtedly the worst internet service provider I have ever used. I've only had it for 4-5 days, and every day I have called about the speed and loading, and reloading and reloading again!! It is the most exhausting and aggravating experience of trying to watch anything on T.V. It's impossible to watch anything when after 1 sentence it stops to reload! I'm cancelling my service as soon as possible!

I’ve had Hughes Net for 4 months. I’m averaging download speed of 2mb or less. It’s great if you like constant buffering. It’s too aggravating to even watch movies. Can’t wait to cancel without a huge fee.

They came to fix. Gen4 wasn't working right. They put it in Gen5. Still not working right so I got Viasat. It works fine now. They didn't send box till Nov 22. Now I have a bill for 700.+. Said I got a new contract with gen5 but it didn't work either. They said I had 3 accts. They cancelled wrong acct. Guy named Bob from HughesNet took eye off and took down dish. Sent back Nov 24 2019. Am not paying anymore!!!!

The tech that came out could care less where we wanted items to go or to even talk about options. He was just going to do what he wanted. I did end up getting the box where my husband was wanting it to be. Second the service is horrible and it's even horrible on a clear day. He didn't check the service. Just made sure I could connect with the password then he left.

19 months of paid service with 3 1/2 total months without service. 4 replaced modems. Slow internet. Bad customer service. 4 days missed from work to deal with the tech service. Waste of time and money. If I could have given negative no stars I would have. It has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with this company. I had a charge for a service call that was confirmed canceled and no technician showed yet I was charged. Plus I have slow service and one of the last associates bumped me to the next level for trial upgrade then charged me - no change in service from the upgrade so today I paid the extra to bring my account current - the false service charge was removed and The associate put me back on the lesser plan without any issue. I still don’t think I should had to pay for the last supposed upgrade but didn’t ask or argue that issue! Thanks.

Very slow, can't stream movies without buffering constantly. I can use my phone data to hot-spot better than your service. I would not recommend your service to anybody until you get it fixed. Problems from day one. Talked to customer support and tech's still have problems very sad for. Your tv ad says fast but that ain't what I get.

Everyone should realize this is a Con. Look at their advertised internet speeds in GB,... Folks, you can’t do anything on internet without 7-9 MBs!! I just found out that each month you are charged a fee that is optional that you are not told about. It pays for faulty equipment to be repaired for free. If you opt out you save about $8.00 per month. If not paid if the equipment fails you have to pay up to $125.00 for a service charge. Very dishonest not to tell us about the charge!!! Around 14 months pays for the service charge of $120.00.

I called to ask to STOP automatic payments on my bill. The man talked so fast and mumbling, I could not understand him. He put me in hold and didn't tell me. It got very quiet. I spoke and he finally said something and then asked me if I could be put on hold. Main problem is I had a very difficult time understanding him.

The latency problem is inherent of satellite communications. But to institute (force onto the customer) a double NAT situation is very frustrating to me. Meaning I can't use my own firewall hardware because of the double NAT situation. Also a data CAP is nothing but a money grab. I understand throttling during peak hours. But a data CAP is a stupid attempt to make the customer buy a more expensive plan. I find it to be a horrible decision on their part.

My call was to ask for a reduction in my monthly bill, as my previous discount had been removed. I was given back the discount for 3 months. I appreciate this courtesy, as we would like to stay with HughesNet if possible. We do have a new internet service available to us now, but as long as HughesNet works with me, I will remain a customer.

Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Never received the same story from anyone I talked to. Difficult automated system to navigate to get to a real person. Called about issues within the first 2 weeks, never once was offered a service visit without exorbitant fee. I would expect that a company would provide service to a customer at least to get things functioning correctly. I was treated as if I was insignificant from the point of satellite placement.

Last May, your repairman installed a new system, took the old system and told my visiting ex-wife our reception will be better now. It was discovered recently he did not cancel one system but placed the new system in my ex-wife's name. So, I have been paying for two services at this rural farm. I work from home when I am not traveling. When I work from home I need to host Skype meetings. I asked if this service would be able to deliver this before I signed a 2 year contract and I was told yes. Come to find out, they can not deliver on their promise. We have very very low internet or no internet; it’s worse when it rain! My husband Ron Fairbanks is the commissioner for this city of Callaway! They told him that Internet Hughesnet is not compatible with their internet!!!!! He gets emails he can not open? Also, we have had problem from day 1. We bought a new laptop.. faster new one. To work the internet better! It’s really bad!! The tech from Dell told us that the internet is only 20 MB. If I would have known this from the beginning. We were having trouble with our internet, so we gave them a call and after a hour of being transferred around from one line to another their customer service said we were out of mbs. We ended up buying more but it turns out that wasn't the problem. It turns out our pole was leaning because it wasn't installed properly. They charged us $125 to fix the pole that they didn't install right. They do not back up their employees' work.

It was an awful experience. Your company took out $400 out my account that was not authorized!!!! I called and they wouldn't help me. HughesNet is surprising consistent with its slow downloads and poor uploading speed. I cannot upload any documents to Microsoft 365 and cannot send an email with a word document attached. If you’re a gamer or a Netflix viewer stay away. Only those of us with no choice are stuck with this pitiful internet. Have to say that their customer service reps are very nice, though they can’t fix anything. Apparently a 1.4 mbps upload is with their range of acceptable speeds. I am supposed to monitor my speeds for 24 hours and let them know tomorrow if there is no improvement.

Canceled service in September, returned ALL equipment on time. Was charged $214.00 for “radio” on November 19 ERRONEOUSLY, which forced my bank account into overdraw with fees! My card on file was terminated so it made me miss a payment and lost my internet service, I called in and gentleman helped me solve problem and get new card registered and got my internet turned back on. HughesNet agreed to provide wifi to our rural home in central Iowa. We cancelled after the first month due to no signal. They were unable to provide us with a usable signal. They then charged us $400.00 for early termination. Do not use this company. I gave them one star only because it was required to submit review.

Was so glad to get a USA rep instead of one of your foreign arrogant idiots that it took over 6 months to get internet working properly. When a repair tech came out found out my dish was out of alignment, the radio on dish needed replacing, and modem was shot. They made excuses that weather, system problems somewhere else, etc. Today tech was very helpful and resolved my problem with new Iphone I got yesterday saying password wasn't correct when old phone accepted the original modem password. Getting new Iphone to connect due to a security setting on WiFi needed changing. He was extremely helpful and courteous.

My interaction with Hughes has been good. My order was processed on schedule and the technician was knowledgeable and professional. While Hughes referenced latency at several points in time, I did not understand the true nature of the impact it would have on my internet experience. The Data allotment is just too small. In retrospect I should have performed a thorough investigation. I would recommend them but under very limited circumstances. I am quite disappointed.

I canceled my contract early, and paid a early termination fee. That was the easy part. Then I received a box with instructions to put the modem, wiring and the nose piece of the dish off of my roof, that I had to climb on to get. All that went into the box, and I shipped it at my local Post office. Approximately 60 days later my bank account was debited $322. They claim I never returned the equipment. Now I am a man of my word and veteran and I believe in honesty for everyone. I haven’t find my tracking number. But it does seem to me that this is a common practice, and a way to rip off the customers. If you or any of your friends are considering Hughes net, my advice is never, never ,never. I will probably not get my money back. So all I can do is warn all my friends,family and loved ones and anyone else that will listen. I hope no one ever has to go through this.

Horrible. On its best day HughesNet is slow, disconnects and barely functions. Add a rural location and snow and it’s completely done. For faster and more reliable service use US Mail and newspapers. We drive to town to check email and Google things. And with years long contracts we get to pay very very high prices so we can use US Mail, newspapers and drive to town. Any other service (US Mail included) is better...

Never was it said once a certain number of megabits or whatever is used service slows down so much so that it’s like I have no internet. I have calculated I can watch Netflix from 7:00 pm - 11-00 pm for a week or just watch Netflix for 12 hours Friday and Saturday and that’s it for the month! I have the option to buy Tokens for more time what’s That??? I already pay 140.00 a month! Plus can’t pay my bill online site is always down. Not getting what was signed up for. As the subject states when initially talked to customer service rep we let him know we did a lot of streaming and we said we just wanted the internet service. He upsold the additional sat Channel service package but we did explain and make it known that we were more interested in good internet service for all the streaming we do. The rep said it would be good and no throttling the internet. So far Hughes has not delivered on the contracted internet service promised. Currently we get a lot of pixelization, a lot of buffering. We are not happy with the Hughes and stuck with a 2 year service contract??? This is not acceptable service.

The installer that showed up was rude and condescending. He actually threatened to walk off the job site and not to do the installation. The internet itself is total garbage. We cannot even connect to the signal if we are further away than the top of the basement stairs. The speed is TERRIBLE. When I was on the phone ordering the service, I specifically asked the salesman TWICE about what our speeds would be when we reached our limit. He assured me that the max speed of 25 would reduced by 1-3 after reaching the limit. I specifically asked “is it a reduction down to 22 or is it a speed of 1-3?” He repeatedly told me it would be a reduction of 1-3. That is totally false. Some would call it a downright lie. Even with all of that, we don’t even get 1-3 now. My latest speed test put it at about .45 mbs!! Total trash. I want my money back and I want that receiver GONE!!!

The modem comes with a 30 day warranty, mine failed after about 50. I was told they would "overnight" a new one and I may have to pay; but, to call billing during normal working hours and see if the fee can be waived. Next day during working hours billing could not waive, I was transferred to 5 different people each with a 10-20 minute hold time. I found out the modem was not overnight-ed, nor was it even sent out. Hughes Net had to have a tech deliver it and plug it in, (at $150.00 per hour). This is something a first grader can do. After several hours I got a service ref number and was told a tech would call within a week to set up a date and time with me. So as a new customer with a complete system failure after ~ 50 days I am without service for a undetermined amount of time. If I could rate Hughes net less than one star I would. I have never got speed close to what I bought!

This is the worst customer experience I have ever had. First the wrong person is listed as the customer on my account. It took 30 minutes and three people to get someone to understand that April ** is not the customer, I am. Account **. She was a prior employee who may have called in with a problem but was NEVER EVER the customer. The service is with my office and I pay the bill and initially had this installed. My paralegal was on the phone for 87 minutes with this company to purchase an upgrade. It took four different people, two who were very rude and 87 minutes to get this accomplished. I am incredibly disappointed with Hughes Net customer service and hope I never have to call again with an issue.

I had been a Hughesnet customer for quite a while when one of your people told me about your Gen 5 service. I was told that, even when I ran out of data, Netflix, on its low setting would still play. I signed up for it with a new 2 year contract. After a few months, I decided to buy more data per month. I soon found out that I still ran out of data in just a couple of days so, I decided to just go back to the lower amount of data. When I did, someone signed me up for a new contract without my knowledge. He said he would be saving me money for three months. Basically he made it sound like he was doing me a favor. Instead, he tried to rope me in longer to a service I was already unhappy with.
I also noticed a few months ago that when my data ran out, I could no longer watch Netflix without interruption. Hughesnet must have set a different limit for data speed after you run out. I have called on this a few times. Almost every time, the first thing your people would do is say, "Let me add some data and take a look for you." Then they would proceed to tell me that I needed more data. I knew it would work better with data. That was not what I was saying. I wanted them to look at what was happening without data. I'm sure you can look at what I was getting and what you are providing now.
Either through training or just not listening to me, they would usually apologize and add a little data to my account. As soon as it ran out, I was back where I started. I tried to tell them I was concerned about the speed without data. At some point, someone from Hughesnet came out and moved the dish. Nothing really changed. It's like no one there will acknowledge that the speed, after the data is used up, has slowed. I'm sure, someone knows exactly what has happened. I can't afford, at the price you charge for data, to pay all month long for your high speed. I feel, that seeing as you no longer provide the speed I had when I signed up, of will not provide it. I should be released from my contract to search elsewhere for better service. If someone with authority would care to address this with me and truly solve the problem, that would be best for everyone. Thank you.

Where to start... Well installation was fine, the gentleman was kind and courteous. That was about the best thing about it all though. The service is terrible, constantly goes out and buffers on everything. The customer service is probably the worst I've ever had to deal with, absolutely appalling honestly. They are rude and disrespectful and escalate situations almost immediately, their payment system is constantly having some kind of issue, you get passed around and around usually with no end result. I was really hoping for a better company overall, unfortunately we have been nothing but disappointed thus far.

Internet is super slow at the house. Tech support informed us that our Wi-Fi does not work with our Nest security device which was strange because it worked before. We are turning the house in to a vacation rental and need to have food Wi-Fi. We also tried installing a remote keyless lock and that didn’t work either because it couldn’t connect to WiFi. The worst ISP Ever.

Can't view my Prime Video...either on my Blu-Ray nor on my PC. Amazon video tech advised after analysis that the bandwidth provided by Hughes is too narrow for this purpose. Well even in ordinary searches and for banking purposes, the pages load slowly so sometimes I am timed out. Trying to contact Hughes service by phone or online is like waiting for Godot. Been trying for days. Spent several futile hours.

Firstly the installation of the dish was done by sub-contractors who planted it on my neighbor's property. HughesNet wanted to charge me to have it moved to my property, taking no responsibility for their contractors' work. The modem was placed in my bedroom so I asked if we could turn off all the meaningless flashing lights to which the answer was, "Oh No, we can’t turn off lights..."
The service plan was woefully inadequate, we used our data max in six days so for the others 25 days of the month we were restricted to 1 Mbps. So slow it’s nearly worthless. So I paid the cancel early fee $400 because I need actual internet service not this feeble restricted crap they over-promised and under-delivered. I think it speaks volumes when a company holds you hostage with large cancellation early fees on a two-year commitment. Expensive mistake on my part. It’s a less than average product and they use hostage tactics so you won’t cancel. My true advice is avoid HughesNet completely.

Just had HughesNet installed end of October 2019 so not a month into my service but I have already received notification that my express repair has gone up from $7.95 a month to $8.99. Also onsite service co-pay (which I didn't even know about) went from $24.99 visit to $29.95. The representative I spoke with never spoke for repair service charges witch led me to believe that my express repair took care of these cost.

Data Packages are very "Tricky". There is no way to verify the real use of the "Tokens". You must trust that Hughes Net are doing fair managing of the Data. I upgraded my service and bought tokens and no matters that used the Data in responsible way, something rare happened using a lot of Data. I'm totally dissatisfied. I'm considering paying the penalty and quit the service.

The absolute worst internet I have ever witnessed, customer service is absolutely crap and the data limits are 19th century crap. Two different people at their company told me that when i use up my data, I might see a very small slow down but I wouldnt even notice!!! Absolute lies, speed went to .5 to 1.5 mbps, pretty easy to notice that don't you think? I would not wish Hughesnet internet upon my worst enemy!!!

Tried to cancel the Internet after less than 2 weeks due to basically no internet. HughesNet said it would cost $400 to terminate even though it was less than 30 days into the service. Kept the internet until we sold the house 8months later. We attempted to transfer ownership of account to new owners HughesNet instead created new account for new owners and sent someone to change out the modems then said it would be $310 for us to cancel our account even though we had previously been told we could transfer the ownership of the account and the new owners would take over the remaining contract time and there would be no termination fees. Waste of money.

Called HughesNet tech help. Very nice tech got it working that day. Next day not working. Called tech service tech said that I needed a Modem. One would be shipped, would received five or six days. Waited 8 days. Called tech support. They said it was canceled. That I needed a serviceman to come out and troubleshoot. 22 days later serviceman shows up and tells me that the wrong bracket was used for the receiver and it was out of line. Now out 150 dollars one month of service.

The first person I talked with that sold me on the system told me that the service speed dropped to 23 mb from 25 when data expired. When I discovered from installer that this was not correct, I called customer service and was assured they would make it right by decreasing my monthly bill once service was set up. I was given his name and a verification number. He never called back. I called and no one would transfer me to him and said the number I was given had no information about what was promised. I was told repeatedly that nothing could be done. Not a positive experience.

I recently had HughesNet install a satellite system for the internet and it does not work well at all. I stream for news and movies and it constantly drops shows and I spend up to a hour to get the picture and my show back, I wanted to try something different than cable, but I have to say cable at least worked better and I got local news that I have not been able to get with Hughes and they bolted the dish on my roof of my new home. It better not leak. I am not a happy customer and I will not recommend this service to anyone.

When I first contacted HughesNet, even in my “control” “managed” area I was promised great service and well above signal strength with no “hidden” charges(?$). Beware of “auto pay” with this provider! They bill added charges which don’t appear in your email or text messages when placing your order. They only allow a limited, minimum, number of connections to their modem. Their “customer service“ representative informed me that along with your installation and equipment rental they also charge for any cables used or anything else they provided. The service was fair, signal strength barely OK, internet is intermittent, website is somewhat confusing, and please, I am older not stupid!! All in all out of 5 stars I give HughesNet 1 star, and I am being very kind!!!!

The internet service is not worth what I'm paying for it....the service is bad. I have cable satellite service and can't properly use it because it buffers and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Will not recommend this service. My fiancee needs it to do her schoolwork and take tests and it makes her laptop is slow. HughesNet was supposed to be my answer. Wanted to cut cable. Signed up, 2 year agreement. 25 MPs feed should have alerted me to steer clear. OK watching taped broadcasts, but watching love sports, like ESPN MNF, buffers a lot, some nights it won't work. Called in to ask, was told, "we don't recommend our service for live TV". We have Hulu, was told "oh our service doesn't work well with Hulu. Hulu has one satellite and we have another, so you might experience difficulties". What a scam and a sham of service provider.
I read other reviews, and one said after signing up in a rural area, Hughesnet told them, "Well we don't recommend our service for remote rural areas". Avoid this service. Hopefully my area, Houston, can have another provider to consider when my contract expires in another year. Think hard before you sign up for this crappy service. I might even go back to paying overpriced cable, at least I'll get a reliable consistent feed. We had a service tech come out to try and figure out why we were having such poor and slow service, and he said "I wouldn't recommend Hughesnet to anyone", and that came from one of their employees. Now that is saying something. This service is crap.

I am very dissatisfied with the internet and the speed. We are unable to stream movies and shows and we primarily use Netflix and Hulu. Had I known how terrible the Internet was with speed I would have never signed up for this. Even just doing homework online is very slow. I will be canceling when my time is up but kudos to you for trapping people with a 2 year contract. Per your website, if I choose to cancel now, I have to pay $400. I will not be recommending your services to anyone.

I have never dealt with a company who was so deceitful or just lacked competence! From day one I was told things that were later denied or I wasn't told something important until after I had signed on. Either the people who work for this company are highly incompetent and lack communication skills among each other or they are the worst type of people. I can't tell you how many lies I was told and how many times they tried to make me feel as though I was the one who make the mistakes or misunderstood what was going on. If I was the owner of this company, I would do a huge clean up of employees and either retrain or hold them to higher standards. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had such a terrible experience. The actual internet wasn't great either. I will tell anyone and everyone I know interested in getting this service to go elsewhere!

He was knowledgeable, well-spoken and took his time to help me understand and walked me through logging into the app. He even noticed an outside pipe leak that I had, which was just going above and beyond in my opinion. This is my second HughesNet. The other is at my summer home where I have used Hughes for 15 years. I just added the 5G at my home in Key West. It was installed by a very professional installer who arrived on time and did an excellent job. So far the reception has be excellent with no problem.

When I ordered the service I was not told it would be a satellite dish. The service was horrible and my daughter could not do her homework because certain programs would not open or buffer. They did end up waiving my $400 cancellation fee so I appreciate that but the salespeople need to warn customers that service may be spotty.

When signing up I was told I would easily be able to stream videos and browse the web/check emails. After getting the internet I can barely check emails or browse internet with it taking 10-15secs to load a page. And I can't even consider streaming Netflix without the video getting an error every 15-20mins. Very disappointed.

We live in an area that has not been able to get internet so we thought we’d try, after 3 years, another company...you guys. Unfortunately, it is not working well at all. We have to all turn off WiFi on our phones to get any decent service. We just want to stop the service so we can go back to just using our phones and I was getting the run around to just stop the dissatisfied service. This initial phone call was within 10 days of the installation.

I loved the installers. Nice and friendly. Very professional. But the one thing I truly hate is the placement of the equipment and the lack of trying to put it somewhere else. I would have been open to placing modem somewhere else if that meant I didn’t have to have a big obstacle in front of my windows and the cord running into my house almost halfway up my wall. When told that is the only way to do it then you say yes but the regret on my end is huge.

Before we changed from CenturyLink to Hughes we had 2 land line telephones. The installing technician could only set up phone line. He said he needed a “Splitter” then he left and has never returned. We now only only ONE corded phone and when we try to dial out were Delivery a recorded message “your dial has not been recognized”. Please half!!!

Lose connection all the time. Buffering way too long. HD is gone. Would never recommend Hughes net..have been on the phone with several tech people, very helpful. But results aren't there yet. It's been a couple weeks, still not satisfied.
