Very helpful and nice that helped me go thru our new billing since we are a new customer. Was able to understand the person I was talking to which is a very big plus to me. I find it hard when you can’t understand some people with different languages.

As soon as my contract is up I will be terminating service! The woman I spoke with was hard to understand and rude. The more I tried to explain I was having trouble understand her the worse it got. Her whole focus appeared to be in selling me "Tokens." I tried to explain to her that it didn't matter what time of the month I still had very slow service. Had she worked for me when I was an employer she would have been terminated!

Do not use their service. They say cancel within 30 days with no termination fees but when you do they take weeks to process and charge you even when they say they won’t. Then when you try to get your money refunded they say they can’t. Service was horrible where I live never worked and they stole 400 from me. Don’t use them unless you like being ripped off

Updated on 01/22/2020: Well it's me again and don't have service. Shock shock. Today I was told it was because of the weather but haven't had service for a week. Told the man whose English was so bad had a hard time understanding him. So his advise was to call back in a couple of days. I would discontinue service but they have a contract around my throat. Good luck too and new blood guard your throat.
Original review: By using your services we have no internet 60 0/0 of the time. First of all I go through and unplug and reset everything then when I call service I get someone who can't speak English and they try to tell me to do everything I just did before I called. Two or three weeks of every month I don't have service. Then I just found out they turned my service off before Christmas and of course the non English speaking people are off till after the first of the year. I am about ready to tell them where they can put their service.

This is the worst internet and support I have ever seen. First I was told I would not be in a contract if, I paid for all of the equipment, and I never got all the equipment that I paid 500 dollars upfront for and then they told me I was in a contract when I went to cancel my plan. This has been a huge hassle that I am still in and I would not recommend this to anybody.

Do not get it. HughesNet internet their speeds are inadequate to today's times and needs. Their customer service is horrible and they're overpriced for what you get. I've had them for a month before I canceled service. I've had 5 technicians come to my residence where I had to take off of work early to meet them. I lost money and I still cannot fix the problems what led me the doing away with HughesNet. I gave him one more chance to try to fix it. They escalated it again for the third time to their expert it people and I never received a phone call again telling me what I needed to do to fix it or when they would have a new technician come out yet again. So bear in mind I've not even had this service for a month and I call and cancel.
Well logical basis they violated their contract by not providing the speeds that they promised I would get at a minimum. They still want me to pay their disconnect fee and everything else on top of that. Well after arguing on the phone with the guy about disconnecting my service I put it to him point-blank that I needed his boss which he refused to get. Said he could not reach his boss. That they were going to look into waiving my fees and then one to tell me if I did not return their crappy equipment within 14 business days that I would be charged for that which I told him to overnight me a box and it would be sent out that very same day. So if you decide to go with HughesNet internet seal best of luck to you because I've seen faster dial up internet than HughesNet.

This is the absolute worst internet service ever. Our TV reloads constantly, even at the beginning of our billing cycle. I have to use my AT&T mobile hotspot to actually watch television. We can’t watch downloaded programs on Sling. (.44mbps is not fast.) That’s on an average basis. 15 days into billing we’re at .37. That’s point thirty seven. They charge $400 cancellation fee. I think AOL dial up is faster. $77 a month is a rip off. Customer service lies and say they’ll try and fix the problem. Perfect clear day and no service. 30gbs is up 3 days into service.
At first the service was decent, never at 30gbps though. See attached photo with speed test. The second photo will show a spooling speed test. That’s because we’re at %100 of data used. They blame the problem of poor service on us. Thank God I didn’t go with VOIP phone service. Please tell me how I can break up with Hughes Net without paying paying a fee. Hernando MS has to have a better provider.

When we moved HughesNet told us to take the equipment with us and they'd set us up with service at our new home. When the tech showed up to install our new dish, he said we couldn't get reception. He said he'd let the office know. 6 months went by and our account was being charged the whole time. Once we discovered it we notified HughesNet right away. They canceled service but still charged us for the six months and wouldn't refund the charges. They said they'd refund 3 of the six months once we returned the equipment. They have not sent the box yet and have put me on hold every time I call until I get disconnected. Also, prior to moving the service was a little spotty. Amazon Prime would work but Netflix would not. We have Spectrum now and the service is much better.

We cannot stream or even get Netflix due to such slow internet speed. This is not what we were told it would be. We also bundled everything and hooked up with Hughes with "NO" contract and now we find we have a 2 year contract and for us to change our service, it will cost us $520. When we first signed up, I was told we couldn't change any of our services. Well, within the first week we found out they set us up with the wrong tv program package. No problem, it was easily changed. I wonder if they thought this change was something new we added when it was them setting it up with the wrong package. I'm so disgusted with Hughes.

The initial experience with HughesNet was good. The Service Tech was polite and professional. The problem began after trying to connect to the internet. I called customer service and the rep. was very nice. She performed some test and determined that it was a faulty Ethernet Cable, that they provided. Did they send me a new Ethernet cable? No, they did not. A month later, unforeseen circumstances arose and I had to move back. This was at a rental where I tried to get internet. I called to cancel and yes it was my fault for signing a 24 month contract. I was charged $400.00 for early cancellation fee. I never once was able to use their internet. Partly their fault, partly mine.
My point of this review is one, it’s not a good internet company and two make certain you are able to have it for the life of the contract. I must say they offered to suspend up to 6 months no charge. Once the 6 months is up though you finish paying for it. They also offered to move my service, problem with that is at home I have high speed internet and wouldn’t even consider getting rid of for their (HughesNet) service. Oh and returning the equipment. So I expected to return the modem and cord but I was informed you must return the radio which is attached to the dish. $400.00 lesson for me.

On the 26th of September, they installed HughesNet. The signal was very poor. The next week they moved the dish, better picture but still had pixelating, error messages and it kept dropping me out. I cut down three perfectly good trees in a effort to get a better signal. Nothing I did worked including the hours I spent on the phone with the HughesNet technicians. On 11/21 I disconnected the HughesNet equipment and called to cancel service and was told they couldn't disconnect until 12/20. They removed $382.55 from my bank account and I'm still waiting for the box to return the equipment. In conclusion, what I got from HughesNet was: holes in my house, a large disk on my roof, 3 less trees, $382.55 less in my bank account. A whole lot of wasted time I'll never get back. What I didn't get was Wi-Fi.

I started out receiving services from Hughesnet eight years ago. This company has never spoken the truth about anything and their customer service is the worst. The Internet speed is extremely slow for streaming, playing videos or movies and their CAP is ridiculously fraudulent. After two months of trying to disconnect services years later, a technician was sent to my resident to remove the equipment but I had to pay to have the satellite removed from my roof. This company refused to terminate services or send a recovery package to mail their equipment to them. I was told by customer service that their policy requires a waiting period of six months of deactivating services at no charge before a final termination of services can be finalized and to call back at six months to request again what I had already expressed.
Calling Hughesnet main headquarters is a waste of time. The representatives will only redirect you back to customer service. After six months, customer service refused to cancel services or transfer the call to a supervisor. I was switched to several operators that were unprofessional, argumentative and ridiculously rude. Several times the calls were disconnected purposely and transferred to different operators only to leave me on hold for hours without offering assistance. Meanwhile my bank account was in risk of being charged because there was no way of returning the equipment.
I immediately changed my bank account information and googled how to return Hughesnet equipment. A male customer had a similar experience and provided some vital details that aided in mailing my equipment. He provided the address to Hughesnet warehouse where all equipment must be shipped to and detailed instructions on how to package the equipment. Also he suggested taking pictures or video the condition and packaging of the equipment. Note-packages must be shipped by FedEx or UPS. My package was accepted and Hughesnet continue to send junk mail requesting that I return. I will never recommend or receive services from Hughesnet again.

I have been in contact with a barrage of foreign speaking people since I started this very unpleasant journey in August of this year. I was originally turned over to Spectrum by the person I first contacted that is/was working with Hughes. I then contacted Hughes and said WTF to your guy. They chuckled a little and said Hughes would handle me. They gave me the sales pitch about how wonderful you were and how much money I was going to save. I told them, "Let's do it" and have been complaining since. My internet is just as slow and the "buffering " is no better than with AT&T, except right after I **. It then improves, but only for a few days.
In the early days of this BC, they would tell me I don't have enough gigs and I need a bigger program. So I eventually bought the largest program you offer. Then when it ran out they said I had too many devices hooked up (2 TV's & 3 cell phones). My son, wife and I are out of the house 7-10 hours a day and when we're home we sleep 6-8 hours per night. When we are home, we don't spend all of our time watching VOD, Netflix or Amazon! I no longer want to have to talk to someone I can't understand whenever I want to watch a program. The absolute worst thing I can say to you is you are no better than a frigging cable company. Tom **. So, I "chatted" with one of the HughesNet reps. I was informed that more than half of my data was used in two days time. There is no way we used that amount of data. When I questioned her, all she stated was "Well, I apologized ..." Totally unacceptable response.
Also, I can never watch a NetFlix movie without it buffering consistently throughout the movie - I usually end up not being able to finish the show as it is ridiculously time-consuming. I checked our speed and our download speed is 0.30mbp and our upload speed is at 1.39mpbs. Way below what is advertised. Hands down, the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Had HughesNet Satellite WiFi installed at my parent’s house and issues arose immediately. After installing satellite dish and equipment in the house, he couldn’t get the service to work. After about 20 minutes of troubleshooting, he told ME to contact HughesNet Customer Service to try and resolve issues....and he left. Couldn’t believe it. Called Customer Service and was told he shouldn’t have left without the service working and that they would need to send another technician out to fix everything. But that would take another week. The technician did arrive and fix the issue, but he took our old provider’s equipment after hounding my dad about it....as my dad didn’t realize we would have to send that back to our old provider.
Called HughesNet about it and they told me there was nothing they could do and that we had to call the technician directly to get they equipment back. I did call him and the guy denied taking the equipment and accused my dad of not remembering. Called HughesNet back to tell them the situation and they washed their hands of it.
In the end, our old provider charged my parents $300 for not returning the old equipment. On top of that, the service never worked right from the beginning. Ever since it was installed, we had issues with our home and cell phones cutting in and out, people not hearing us but we could hear them, etc. Contacted HughesNet multiple times about the issue and was told it wasn’t their service causing the issues...even though we never had this problem before with previous wifi providers and the phones would only work when we unplugged Hughesnet’s router. They still refused to admit it was their service and will not let us out of our contract to find another provider.
I have called many times and nobody will do anything on their end. I’ve asked for a technician to come out and look at it, but they would charges us $110. I’ve asked if we can use a different router/modem in case that might be the issue, but was told we have to use their equipment. I called again today for the 7th or 8th time, and was essentially called a liar and that they didn’t believe there are any issues at all....even though they can see we haven’t used the wifi for months because if we do, the phones don’t work.
My parents are elderly and have a lot of calls to make and receive from doctors and nurses for various health reasons, which are far more important than having wifi. So we continue to not use the HughesNet service that we are paying $66 a month for. Explained all of this many times to HughesNet, and nobody cares. They are a heartless, unprofessional, unorganized pathetic excuse for a company. Shame on them for treating myself and my parents this way. Out to be ashamed of themselves. LET US OUT OF OUR CONTRACT SO WE CAN FIND A NEW PROVIDER WHOSE SERVICE DOESN’T INTERFERE WITH BASIC CELL PHONE USE.

We moved to a rural area of Washington and called HughesNet for service. They assured us how great their product was and so we signed up. First issue was just getting the system installed - we had several dates rescheduled but finally got it done. From day one the system was never reliable and I made multiple calls to service center (which is awful). The automated fence they have in front of getting a real person on the phone is almost criminal. They had me reboot, unplug, login and all kinds of time wasting things to get it work only to deal with it again a few days or weeks later. Not once did they offer to send a technician to fix it. After putting up with this for almost eight months I called to cancel as I had to find another service we could depend on.
I was then told if I wanted my deposit back from them (over 200.00). I had to mail the radio assembly and modem back which I did. Months went by and I realized they never credited me back my deposit, so once again I had to call these people and fight thru the automated system, when I finally talked with them they said regardless of how awful and undependable the system was I had to pay for an early disconnect fee which so happened to be the exact amount of money you would receive back for returning the radio and modem. If at all possible I recommend you find another service provider to use as this company is awful. Then l should have the option to leave your company at any time with no consequences, but that is not the case. l have been told that l have to honour my contract if l leave early. That is funny coming from a company that has no intention of honouring your contract with me.
Would you consider cutting my payment in half for the remainder of my contract. That would be more than fair as l feel that l not even got half of the service that your company promised me. I look forward to a response to this letter, but if it is like all the other emails, and phone calls l have made to HughesNet, my grandchildren will be my age before a real person will answer this one. We signed up for Hughesnet after calling to simply inquire about ATT internet. Somehow we were coerced into Directv and hughesnet. This was not our plan. After it was installed we instantly realized it was not going to work for us. So the following weekend, I called to cancel. The lady was so rude. She talked over everything I said and refused to let me talk. She kept saying that if I will give it 30 days then they could maybe improve it. I told her repeatedly that I wanted to cancel my service. She refused to help me. I asked several times to speak to someone else. She said that she was the highest ranking employee and there was no one else to talk to. She refused to let me talk. She refused to cancel my service and told me that she would be charging me $400 dollars to cancel. I told her that I have a 30 days buyer remorse clause and she refused to listen.
She then continued to talk over me. I finally told her that I was going to file a lawsuit if she did not cancel it. She continued to keep talking. I got so completely frustrated that I hung up on her. She then called back and left me a voicemail that I have saved and emailed to others for record that she would be cancelling the service and there would not be a charge but I still have not received any return labels or anything else from them. Does not pick up good internet connection. Bought a wifi booster and still doesn't work. It is very aggravating. I have a smart tv and a Roku stick and I try to get on Hulu. It tells me I need a better signal. This internet needs major work because lots of people I talk to are saying the same thing about HughesNet. It isn't worth buying.

Needed security only service at property to manage live view cameras. Was told numerous times would be no problem. Traveled to property to meet tech and install system. Immediately found out would not work. Phone tech informed me that this should never have been installed for this purpose. System being removed, but lots of wasted time and money to find out this information. Had to star it to send.

Less than 24 hours after my installation I lost my signal and the dish became loose which is what caused the loose of signal. The tech came out three days later and fixed the dish. My signal is not as fast as the signal I had with 3rivers but it is what I have and I can work with it.

Approx. 3 months a go I called in about a price increase on my bill, I was told the price increase was due to the fact that my 2 year contract had expired. I was never told at anytime that this would happen. The lady I talked to said the monthly payment would be changed back to what it was, and it was changed. Bill this month was back up, when I called in about the increase I was told the decrease was only good for 3 months which I was never told, I was paying 79.00. Bill went up to 89.00 which is way too high for what I am getting. If I was getting more service for the 10.00 it would be more understanding. Thank you Jerry **.

The gentleman that came and installed the system was very quick and polite. The first few days all was good, now it seems to be buffering quite often. This is even with one person in house. It hasn't been installed that long so I will try for another month before I make an honest opinion.

I made a BIG mistake signing up for Hughesnet. Told speed could support streaming TV and it didn’t. Turned off WiFi in the home because browsing was soooo slow. I am canceling service after only 1 month and going with fiber company for $20 less per month. Don’t touch this service if other options available.

Just switched back to Hughes Net. I was a customer before they had Gen 5 and switched to Verizon. Verizon was good, but their equipment kept failing every 2-3 years (cantenna). After my 3rd one, I came back to Hughesnet. Been 1 month. So far, no issues. The additional data downloads between 2 am and 8 am are a huge feature.

My internet speed was never as fast as it was supposed to be. We can’t watch OnDemand or Netflix. I have to turn my WiFi off to use the internet. I’ve called and they said they would decrease my bill to 29.99 a month, which was good. But I changed services to get better internet and this is a complete fail. Very disappointed and aggravated!!!!

Look at the difference in the photos, laptop has fast response (photo 1 sent). See signal bars and slow (see photo 2) the main home full size computer response. Was blown off due to not knowledge of tech staff. Getting part load time. The photo with clean bar view is my laptop which functions properly. The two photos with yellow asterisk is home computer. Very slow.

The internet is the worst. I keep my phone on data because it’s faster. My daughter has to go to school to do her homework. I will be cancelling service. The install is messy. Black wire on white wall. The worst.

When signing up and installing, I expected to be able to use our devices for simple tasks. $100 a month should at least ensure that. But, even though we have MINIMAL service on our cell phones, upload and viewing speed using that is much higher than Hughes Net. Basically, I am wasting $100 a month on nothing. And now, I'm stuck in a contract that does not benefit us in any way.

HughesNet is great! I give it 5 stars because it is Mr fast and never crashes like other internet providers I have had in the past. Quick installation and Jorje and Mary were very nice respectful people. Thanks Hughes Net. You are a lifesaver!
