We had a great technician! He was very helpful and had great customer service skills. Due to our lease agreement we were not allowed to have the satellite on our roof. So he reassured us that he could put the satellite in the ground and it would work just fine.

The hook up and installation was by far the best and most reasonable part of the service. They made it so helpful to be able to come out and install the service on the weekends as well as during the week. It helped out a lot so I did not have to take off of work and wait around all day for someone to show up. The actual service is very slow and once you have used your amount of GB for the monthly plan you've selected it slows down so much that it is not usable. I would not recommend HughesNet to anyone nor would I purchase it again.

Paying too much for the service that I am getting. Can't use my fire sticks, which was the main reason for the internet. Runs too slow! Would not recommend HughesNet for fast service. Plus now I have a huge disk setting in my yard, that the tech could of put further back. He never asked if it would be ok there. Poor service for the price!

We were sold on the promotional products of a 100 Credit split between our first 2 bills of 50 on each Bill and that we could have automatic payment for the day we chose of the third of each month. However, only the first month of 50 credit was given and our payment date was based on the day our service was installed. So that being said we called customer service and was told it could be changed to the third of the month but only after our bill status was a zero balance. And that I had to go online and enter for the rebate, well that was not told to us the day we agreed to the promotion and signed up for your service.
We finally asked to speak to a manager and he finally agreed to add the second 50 credit on our account and to change the bill date, but only after I was upset enough to cancel our service and tell everyone we knew about what happened with your billing services! And yet we are still going to pay more than the full Bill in March because it will be prorated from the extra days of service because they came out and installed before the third, which had we known that we would have said to wait until the 3rd to install.... I don't mind paying for the service but your promotional information does not disclose all of those details! I will say the manager did finally do as much as he could to make things right but if anyone asks if you are a fully honest ethical company I would have to say no... it's the way you do things are wrong! Very slow. Would not and have not recommended to anybody. Feels like we’re back in the dial up days for as slow as it is. I’ve tried everything customer service said to try including turning data saver off and even downloading a new browser. Nothing helped. Takes between 60 and 90 seconds for a webpage to show up. Was promised when signing up that when monthly allowance was used up and the speed would slow down that we would still be able to stream a movie. I don’t see how that’s possible when I can’t even stream a movie at regular speed. No complaints with the installation just the speed.

Then, the internet service I was provided with is awful. When streaming Roku or Netflix, it keeps buffering. I increased my GB service, but it didn't help; and to make matters worse, I'm burning through the GB within the first week. I've never had this issue with another internet provider.

Then I was told I wasn't grounded so I call and told them it should be taken off my home because if lightning struck it, it could cause St the worst a fire in my home. After 2 more weeks they finally scheduled a technician to come and remove the dangerous position they had put myself, my wife and my home in. It's not a company I would use ever again....

I had HughesNet installed in November 2019. Our experience with them has been awful, it simply DOES not perform to our needs as advertised. First and foremost, we had no idea that HughesNet would not work for WIFI calling. We rely on the ability to have WIFI calling because we live in a remote area and our phones do not work in our home, and not until we get to about 50 feet out the back door. In an emergency situation, we would not be able to call for help, this is DANGEROUS.
Second, I told them that, "We use YouTubeTV as our TV provider, will your service work with this?" "Yes." Well, the real answer is yes, but there's NEVER a clear picture. That and YouTubeTV uses every bit of the data allowed in less than two days, so then you get a REALLY fuzzy picture, for the next 28 days. Tokens? Even with tokens purchased (another $15) to watch the ACC championship it was still so blurry we could hardly see what was going on, photos attached as proof.
So, then when you realize that this service will not work for you, and your husband is going to divorce you for even signing up for this in the first place, you call to cancel. Sure, you can cancel at the end of your billing cycle on Feb 19. There will be a $460 charge... WHAAATTTT A service that DOES NOT work for us, that actually endangers us, and we are unable to cancel. ??? I'm sure this won't get posted on the HughesNet Site, so I'm going to copy and paste this to every Social Media outlet I can find, as well as the News Media, and most likely... our attorney... This is EXTORTION ... How do you people sleep at night???

We had internet service from HughesNet for 3 months (signed a 2 year contract). We had the "fastest" speed package that was the most expensive. Was supposed to be 25mgb/second and was rarely over 8 (most of the time about 3). We called numerous times about the slow speed with no improvement. We decided to go with another provider and pay the early termination fee. Our billing was a nightmare and it took 2 1/2 MONTHS in which they were supposed to refund the last month we were charged for and an overpayment. Well, that never got resolved and I was on the phone for a total of 5 1/2 hours trying to take care of this even speaking to supervisors twice. Now they tell me that I am only getting a partial refund and that it will take 45 DAYS FOR A CHECK TO BE MAILED TO MY RESIDENCE. I cannot recommend them in any shape or form. This has been the WORST customer service experience I have ever had.

We are very unsatisfied with the service & the bill of $125.00 we received. The serviceman arrived 6 days after we called. He found that the dish was not installed properly and came loose and out of line to get a signal. He also said and put in his hand held computer that there would be no charge for his service call and repair since it was not our responsibility. I would add that when I called Hughes for a tech to come out, I told them at that time I was not paying a service charge because there was nothing wrong with my computer. This was the 2nd time in 2 months we went 6 days waiting for your service tech to come out. which means we were without phone service also. Thank god there was no emergency. We are in our 80's.Iif it was our fault we would be glad to pay the bill, but it was not. I feel we should not have to pay the $125.

HughesNet is the most crooked company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. They lull you into believing their services are great by constantly replenishing your data for the first 20 days. Then your data starts disappearing at an exponential rate. Ours was almost gone 3 days into the new billing cycle. We had originally called customer service about low speeds as it was not running at the advertised 25mpbs. Our average at the time was 5.. We were told to call back in 2 days and we would receive credit for our bill (which was never given).
We did some research on their online community for tech support and decided to run a modem isolation test to see where our data was going. Called customer service again did the screenshots, disabled wifi, and disconnected LAN. Customer service verified that there were no devices connected other than our home phone thru HN. Left everything disconnected for 8 hours and checked our data. It had dropped from 51% to 48% available. Once again we called customer service and explained that our data was disappearing while nothing was connected. This has continued for the last 5 days. We have only used their services during the bonus time yet our anytime data continues to deplete. They had an advanced technician look into the issue and he says there is no problem with the system.
We have been in contact with customer service every single day and no steps have been taken to rectify these issues. However we have noticed a trend where every time we contact customer service our data is used. Keep in mind we have nothing connected to the internet. I believe they do this so they can convince you that you need to buy more data. I am currently looking into taking legal action as I am paying for data that I am not using. If you are thinking about getting HughesNet I strongly advise against it. This has been a nightmare! I have never been so stressed out! Never have I paid so much money for internet services that I can't use and I am outraged that this company is still in business as I have been researching their history and found this to be a common practice with cases dating back 4 years. How is this company still in business?!

Not only did it never work as promised but when we tried to cancel we were told that we needed to pay $375 and if we wanted the ugly huge dish off our roof that would cost another $100! We seldom ever connected to the service because it slowed everything down. Our personal cell service which only has 1 bar at our house was faster than the internet. And if we were connected to the internet we couldn't even make a phone call because the person couldn't hear us or the call got dropped. The technician took forever to set up the service and when we asked about the terrible speed we were told that “it would get better”. We were stupid enough to trust him I guess cause we kept hoping it would.

I'm sure there are limitations that I don't know about (nor care about) in the tech for satellite, but how is it they can charge more than Rise and have a thoroughly inferior service? Where's the consumer protection on that one? I can barely open my browser today let alone actually stream a movie. Luckily their low-flow service can still let me into my email. I find myself resetting my router at least once a week hoping it will help and it doesn't. And why the data caps? Spending $75+/mo to up my anxiety. Where are my options as a consumer? Why do they have a monopoly in my area? If I had choices, I'd try a different provider.

There are so many issues with this service/company that I am not sure where to begin... I guess at the beginning will suffice. Schedule an install to have a pole mounted dish, installer arrives and only has the items to install a roof mounted dish. Then says if I wanted a pole it would require a new appointment at a later date. So not wanting to be with out some form of internet I reluctantly agreed to it. When all said and done I pay for the install, little did I know that paying with a card they would take that info and just start to automatic bill me. When I call to ask why they are doing that they said it was required to get the rate I sign up for.
I researched that on their website and nowhere did it say that was a requirement. Unfortunately where I live this is the only current option for internet, so I am stuck with it. Once off of said contract my internet has never been slower or offline more than it is currently. While on contract I had no issues and with in the 3 months since I have had multiple day stretches of no or slow internet. All blamed on weather, with some of those days being clear and sunny.... Last night they told me I had to wait one or two days for somebody to call me to try to fix my problem. Over the phone again defensive. $57 a month and only excuses. When you play as Ibuki who's one of the best centers in the country and always trying to blame the consumer. I had to give him one star so I could submit this. They don't deserve that. Hughes Net keeps trying to bill an old credit card, even though they receive a timely check from my bank every month. My bank has verified paid invoices to Hughes Net and we've all been assured the problem is solved, but the next month the same thing happens. I've been paying my bill electronically for 2 years, and it's only in the last 3 months the old credit card has become an unresolved issue. I also explained that all the information surrounding the Card remained the SAME except for the NUMBERS! Then I was asked, "Was the NEW CARD a DEBIT CARD?" (YOU THINK ?) I said yes and all which had changed was the NUMBERS and NEW expiration Date! He then asked me about the address and Billing info. I repeated again, "ALL THAT HAS CHANGE WAS THE NUMBERS AND EXPIRATION DATE"! So after giving all that info I asked for him to repeat the NUMBERS and he did! Because he was NOT the sharpest KNIFE IN THE DRAWER I checked my internet connection and there was this NOTICE which kept informing me of my overdue BILL still!

This may be a good service if there is absolutely NOTHING ELSE available. Download speeds were pretty much as advertised, however the latency rate is unacceptable. A good 'ping' rate is anything less that 100 or so. HughesNet Gen 5 'ping' rage is almost 1,000! It can't be changed because of having to go to the satellite and back, sometimes many times. This results in lots of buffering, so streaming is very frustrating. Latency is mentioned in the ads, but never explained the effect this has on the service.
I used this service for a few months but terminated and paid the fee. I went back to DSL with only 3 mbps, compared with about 25 with Hughes. However, even with 3 mbps, I can stream once again, plus I no longer have to watch usage. Many cell phone companies also offer Internet service complete with a modem, so I would recommend exhausting ALL other possibilities before signing up with Hughes. I had no complaint with customer service, they were courteous, but nothing can be done to improve latency. It's a big issue, so proceed carefully.
