    We did not realize that we were resubscribing for a new 2 year contract when we moved! We were very good customers, never late on our payments for the entire contract.     When we get a signal, it is not as fast as the DSL service we had before. Approximately once a day we get a “Can’t find server” or “The network connection was lost”. When my grandson was playing Minecraft it kept buffering until he changed a setting so it wasn’t as high-def.

    We switched to HughesNet because our previous service was not working. Hughes net was even worse. We would not recommend them to anyone. We have long buffering on almost every show we watch and are only able to watch one TV in our entire household. I have tried to send this 3 times and 3 times it failed to send.

    We specifically asked the sales representative if the service was affected by weather as we work from home and we're told "no - technology has advanced to the point where that is no longer an issue." The service was always slow but when we had a few drops of rain it disappeared altogether. We were also told that there would be a two week trial period where we could cancel the service with no charge. After spending over an hour on the phone with a representative this eventually happened but was a real struggle.

    We used 18 GB our first month on a 10 GB plan so I upgraded to the 20 GB plan for the second month. Two days into the second month of the 20 GB plan, our usage profile told us we already used all 20 GB for the month with 29 days remaining. We now have slow internet for the whole month and I am not buy $75 worth of GB tokens. This isn't right. We weren't even home one of the first two days. Customer service add two free GB's for me but this does not solve the problem. I was hoping for answers when I called.

    Hello, I recently replaced my DSL service with HughesNet and I have to say I'm not impressed. Instead of constant low speeds, I've got moments of blinding speed followed by solid minutes of little to no connection to the internet at all. Streaming services, video games - nothing performs well. During poor weather, I have no internet at all. Honestly, the only time I have decent internet is if there isn't a cloud in the sky. I'm definitely thinking about switching providers YET AGAIN!

    The streaming speed that I was quoted was around 25Mbps, which should be fast enough to stream videos. Unfortunately I am getting speeds about 100 times slower (around 25kbps). Too slow to be useful for streaming. So slow I cannot even connect my work computer to work from home. Service call said everything is working well and there's nothing to increase the speed. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone. As bad as dial up internet.

    It's okay but could be a little faster. When I am on late in the evening I noticed that the service was running very slow.     When I signed up, Hughesnet CSR said I had 7 days to cancel and be refunded the initial fee. I was unable to stream movies with the system. Movies buffered every few minutes. It was painful to try and watch a movie. I called to cancel in 7 days and they said they wanted to try and fix it. I agreed. What they did that night didn’t help so I called to cancel the next day and had to fight to get out of the contract even though the system was unacceptable. They didn’t honor what they said about the initial fee. I felt they were very dishonest. Will not recommend to anyone. Will discourage others that ask me about Hughesnet.

    Worst CS I have ever dealt with. They claim they have 25Mbits but don't expect more that 1Mbit on a good day. Don't expect to stream movies from any online movie service, won't work. Netflix just refuses to try to stream due to less than poor bandwidth. For HughesNet to prove they have 25Mbit download they require you to use their bandwidth testing program. Someone that I know that works for hughesnet told me the way they prove to you they are providing you 25Mbit is they clear a direct channel by bumping others off. Best way to describe hughesnet can be summed up with just three letters. POS.

    Didn't know I could have had the dish mounted on a pole. When I called immediately to the office I was told I signed the contract and that was that. If I want the dish mounted on a pole I would have to pay $125. The dish was mounted on my house that is getting repaired. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service.

    I signed up for this because I was mad at the cable provider for another rate increase. This is one of the worst decisions I ever made. We had been using ROKU instead of Cable TV, which I told the salesman. He said we'd be fine. What I didn't realize that one movie can use 1-2 Gb of the plan data, which will run out in short order. Even with cutting back on a lot of other internet usage we had been doing, we won't make the month, even on the 20 Gb plan, and to go to a higher plan puts me back to what the cable provider wanted to charge. We're pretty much down to only necessities on the internet, and dusting off old DVDs and VHS tapes when we need entertainment.

    We were also using our internet service for WiFi calling with our cell phone, because we have a very weak cell signal here. That also doesn't work now. I guess the upside is we're finding other things to do now besides surfing the internet. That's the only good feature I can think of. It's slower and unreliable and not only during bad weather (rain, wind, cloudy, partly cloudy,... anything other than perfect). Now I know why they charge $400 when you terminate early. It's probably their primary source of income. I'll probably go ahead and pay the $400 and get back on cable soon, so we won't feel like we're back in the stone age. AND the first time I tried to submit this review, the message "CONNECTION LOST" popped up. I rest my case.

    Not only can I not get enough data for a month, your download speed sucks. When I asked about the amount of data (10 G) I was asked what I did online. When I said "Some You-tube, a computer game and e-mail." I was told that it should be fine. I have since upped my service and still probably will not have enough for the month. On top of that, my download speed runs about 7 mbps and on the day after my payments it was running at 1.7 download and 0.0 upload. I call that breach of contract and I want out of this overly expensive mess. I was told 28 mbps until I reached my limit. That is not what I am getting. I get better download from my phone's 3G. I was roped into a contract for services not received. I will not recommend.

    I believed your advertised speed of 25 mbps my service at best is in the kbps range. Called 2 times and still lousy internet, being a person that likes to stream this stinks, went from the pan with Suddenlink to the fire with Hughes Net, believe me as soon as I can ditch your service I will, I will say this!     My problem was I had an issue with the internet and they came out said they fixed it but it's still not fixed. We try to watch movies on demand and it keeps I think it's called filtering I'm not sure but it doesn't in the middle of the movie several times and on my computer the internet is so slow. I want somebody to come out here and fix it. They told me on the phone the first time I called that they were going to send somebody out with new equipment and they didn't. They sent somebody out but he didn't put new equipment in. You might as well say we're still without internet.

    I checked the internet myself and it wasn't even hooked up to my living room TV so I hooked it up and it was a little bit better. But still when it keeps interrupting the movie you can't watch a movie so if somebody could call me I would appreciate it. I am not going to do their work for them because they always want me to try this and that and I am blind in one eye and I cannot see very good to be able to do what they ask me so I would just assume somebody come out and replace the equipment and maybe it'll work right.

    Tech. Person showed up a few hours early and explained everything in detail. The request he came out to do was explained why he could not do the job. Hughes do not cover outside wiring and all connections are waterproof and he checked and cleaned connections.     I am sorry to say I hate Hughesnet. It is unreliable. The signal gets lost 50% of the time and I have to reset my modem at least 5 or 6 times a day. I only have it because I have no other choice where I live. I had hughesnet years ago and it is no better now than it was then. It is way more expensive than its worth...as soon as something else becomes available I am switching. In the meantime I'll just keep on cussing Hughesnet. I do not recommend this to anyone!

    I have had slow internet since it was installed. I cannot watch Prime, Hulu or many other channels thru my Roku. My Roku says I am only getting 2 or 3 mbps. 4 times on the phone with these people and each time they say I am getting 30 or more mbps. If that were so why can I not watch Prime or Hulu. Also my internet is slow. I asked them to send a tech out and they said it would cost $125.     I am being told by your reps that the 20 GB of data per month will afford 280 hours of TV, 30 hours of movies on streaming, 10,000 pages of viewing on Google and 60 hours per month of FaceBook. Please explain how in TWO DAYS the 20 GB were used?? 48 hours - March 3rd and 4th the data was gone and I can guarantee you that the TV was not on for 140 hours a day, we did not watch 15 (or more) of streaming movies and still have time to use Facebook 30 hours per day as well as Google 5,000 pages per day.     Let me address the service first. It’s very slow, to the point where things do not load, shows OnDemand buffer continually until I give up. The WiFi is so weak I cannot use it to talk on the phone. Thankfully I have Verizon, because otherwise I’d need a landline through HughesNet which costs $20 a month, and also relies on the poor WiFi service they provide. Which brings me to the price...$60 a month!!! For terrible service, and when I call all they can say is, "your speed is right where it’s supposed to be, which is 20-25 mbps". But when I’m trying to watch a movie it says between 3mpbs and 5mbps!! So I have to disconnect devices from WiFi so other devices can work. Which brings me to the commitment. It’s 24 months!!!     I’ve attempted to get my situation resolved through customer service, but my extraordinarily slow speeds and pixilated picture required me to find a solution through my cell company. Now that I know this works (a cell signal booster for $175 and a jet pack hotspot for $10/ month) offers a much a much better picture quality and more reliable service than your $75/ month offering. Not to mention, I get more mb per month before they drop my service to 3g instead of 4g.

    I called in originally to Frontier to get phone service. I was offered phone/internet bundled only to be transferred to Hughes Net. I was under the impression I was signing up for the bundle service only to find out at the end of a lengthy call that I only received internet. I had a meeting to get to and couldn’t sit through the whole process again to get the phone service, so I didn’t even get the services I requested. I am in an area of poor phone reception, so WiFi was imperative. I can’t WiFi call over Hughes net because the reception is so terrible that people know when I’ve got it turned on and ask me to remove it from my phone.

    Overall, I am beyond frustrated with this experience. I want my service canceled immediately because I was not given a functional product to accommodate my needs, which were clearly stated at the time of my initial call and documented on a lengthy customer service call the night of installation. There has been little to no improvement since that call.

There is constant buffering and the things like Amazon movies or trailers or YouTube videos take forever to load. Half the time they don't even finish playing. We get an error msg or it just freezes. Our phones seem to be considerably slower. The 20GB isn't enough for us even though we don't have gaming or anything and only go on the computer once or twice a month. All in all I'm ready to cancel and go back to Windstream with 12mbps speed. Hughes net boasts 25 mbps but I can't see it. We didn't have any problems like we do now with Hughes net. We have problems on clear sunny days. Why???? Not worth the money and aggravation not to mention that we had to make 3 1 hour calls to them in the first week.     Was so excited to get all I wanted of internet, to use Netflix whenever I wanted. But as soon as they were done, putting up the dish, they did not hang around to see if I was able to get internet anywhere you want. My computer was so slow I felt like I was back in the 90's.     Over the outages of multiple days I spoke with at least 6 different customer service agents. With the exception of one all were off shore. Some were direct and the process went smoothly.     I completely disagree with a debit card payment hold on the account. Or account locking. If a debit card payment is made the payment is immediate, which means money is already taken out of an acct. I think this needs to change.     I had internet service bundled with Dish TV. When we remodeled our home and brought the internet back in we were told they had new internet that was faster, covered the whole house and wouldn’t run out. I had no idea we were leaving Dish tv until the install happened. Then I was paying $180 each for internet and dishttv. HughesNet set me up on a business plan even though this service is for my home. Said it would offer better data use times. Did not tell me it was a much larger fee to cancel the contract on a business account. I ran out of internet 2 weeks into the billing cycle. Extra bandwidth costs $100s. Speeds were below 1 mbps at times.

    Spoke with their executive customer service. I was told I should not have been put on a business account but to change it over would require them to stop my service. I had already decided to install cable. I made arrangements with the executive customer service agent- he upgraded my internet to more bandwidth and gave me a credit for the purchased extra bandwidth. This gave me time to have the necessary construction for the cable install and not be without internet in the meantime. He apologized and said it was going to cost me $800 to get out of my contract and that I never should have been on a business contract. My speeds were very slow I still had unused purchased bandwidth but my speeds were below 1 MBps again.

    When I called to cancel my account I expected the fee but asked to be credited for the unused bandwidth I had purchased. They refused. I spent over an hour on the phone mostly on hold just to ask for a fair deal. They refused. They intend to charge my card. This is the worst internet I have ever had. I spoke with one customer service person who. Seemed to truly care, the rest should not be in customer service. They are crooks.

    Better Business Bureau or some Institution should look into this company. They're robbing decent working people that need to stay connected with services that don't provide what they claim they do. Their speed and capacity are most definitely not real. They put a hard data cap on how much you are allowed per month but that doesn't even matter since you never get the speed advertised. Once you have hit your data cap, they offer "token" that cost even more than your monthly plan and still have a data cap.

    Never use this service. You are better off using your mobile phone as your only internet source. Current mobile data speed is 13/mbps. Hughesnet data speed is 1/mbps. At the moment the only thing connected is my laptop and the printer which is off most of the time for work and I only work 4 to 5 hours a day 5 days a week or less. Big Mistake getting this service due to my near nothing location and believing their ad about the sky is the only thing I need. Now either I pay them $400 that obviously don't have to spare to get rid of this lousy service or as you can imagine stay tied to them for the next 21 month.

After having my nephew's son watch some programs on a weekend, I found out that alone wiped-out data usage for the entire month. I was told that I could watch many programs and not have to worry about data usage as I am not a "gamer". After talking to customer service reps, I found out that I would only be able to watch about 4 movies per month and that alone would wipe out my data for the entire billing period. I am obligated to a 2 year plan that I forced to keep but, isn't there something about breach of contract or something about sales people not telling you the truth?... Not happy with the product.

    Horrible internet.. Somehow run out of 30 gigs of data in a day when we barely watch TV... The majority of the time we can't watch Netflix without it buffering, which also uses data. Been told that we were leaking data from the modem without being connected to any devices? This company is a crock. Why pay for something that you can barely use? Run while you can.

    No internet for over 5 weeks. Made 5 separate calls to tech support, all of which told me to go to a website that has no information on it. Then they want to send me a technician for $125, after paying $130 for a month of no internet. That’s not customer service. The company needs to fix their website (192.168.01) so customers can determine whether it’s the dish misaligned or a bad modem.

    Hughes lowered my service level mid-month even though I paid for full month service. Instead of bringing my service level back to my original level, your representative tried to sell me a higher More expensive level causing me to shop for another provider. You're losing an almost three year customer. I can't and won't recommend Hughes service to others.

    My representative Gasper was extremely nice and helpful but I feel HughesNet has mislead me in info regarding my booster. I guess I need a cable to connect booster to modem because it is too far away from where I want to work at my desk. I bought this modem in October from Hughes net and did not realize that I need a long cable to get booster half way. It took over an hour to realize the possible solution.     Ok, when you send notice the bill is due, can you simply put the bill amount on it. Then I don't have to go through a security nightmare to get into my account online then countless more security steps to see the bill.     We started service with them on 1/7/2020. The upload and download speeds are extremely slow. Streaming is impossible with this service. Don't let them tell you otherwise. It took us 40 min to watch 15 min of a show on Netflix last night before we called it quits and turned the tv off*. The lag is terrible. I have called them 10 times in 8 weeks. Each of those times, I'm on the phone with them over an hour running diagnostics so they can "fix things on their end". We have been 100% without internet for 3 of those days (although still had to pay for those days...). They sent out a technician to check the satellite, and we continue to have problems.

    I called 2/16/2020 and spoke to 3 departments, John Davis from Account management told me that our system is even running slow on their end. He had the engineers from Tier 4 will call me.

    I spoke with them today. They gave me "tokens" so that I could run a faster upload speed. They said the speeds should be within 60% of the "optimal" number...If I am paying for one thing, and getting just over half of that...that's pitiful. Either way, I am still unable to stream. In the end, they won...congratulations Hughes Net, you did not hold up your end of the contract and still got another $400 out of me. *I ran the upload and download speed test last night while trying to watch Netflix. Here are the screenshots of the miserable speeds I was getting. We should be getting 25Mbps Download speeds and 3Mpbs Upload speed. (It was clear skies.)

    OK, so you say no hard data limits. Understood that upon reaching a data limit speeds would be reduced. HughesNet however seems to be punishing me for exceeding my limit to the point where I cannot download files or access my investment portfolio. That's not a slowdown, that's a shutdown! Hughesnet may have me by the hair at the moment but I will NOT recommend others take your service and I will be ever vigilant for other more considerate providers.     There is nothing nice I have to say about HughesNet. The telephone and computer service I received was terrible. It was so terrible I felt they broke their contract by not giving me what they promised. I called complaining so many times, they let me out of the contract. I'm 72 years old and was forced to climb a ladder up two stories, walk onto my roof and retrieve a piece of equipment to return to them. I called to have them come get the equipment and was told it was my responsibility and to hire someone to do it for me. I've returned everything and they are still charging me for a closed account. The company sucks!!!!
