    As I was attempting to pay my bill online, your computer would not accept my information, so I called the helpline, and the agent was very nice and professional in dealing with my problem, but was, unfortunately, unable to do much. She suggested things for me to try that might help, but nothing worked. She then suggested me using the phone pay route, stayed on the line as I paid, then kept me on the phone afterward to assure that everything had worked out okay.     We kept getting notices of maxing out our allotment of GBs and having to buy "Coins" or use what was left of the Coins. That just made no sense at all since I have no business at all since the Co-Vid so I am not even using the internet for the purpose at all. Even when I was "in business", we never had the notices of running out. We were forced to increase our GB plan and pay more money/month. Not happy that we feel forced to do this. Cannot come up with why this would be running out every month. We may look for a different provider when our year's contract is up

    Carlos has great customer service, he was extremely helpful. He knew exactly what I needed to do and he resolved my problem. But the service with Hughes Net is not very good. I keep having the problem of the Internet going or not having enough strength for the internet to work properly. But am on a 2 year contract and I can't cancel it.     Original install date was Tuesday, Oct 6th, between 11am-2pm. I received a text that technician would be there at 2:15. By 3:00 pm, I called Thompson Satellite to see where was installer. Response was he couldn't find me and all he found was a locked gate somewhere. So after waiting all day Tuesday, I rescheduled to Wednesday at 3:30. So, I close my business once again to meet someone. Technician showed up at 4:15. He walked around my house with his phone and said I would have to dig a 2' deep hole and trench 18" deep for 35'. I would have to find someone to do that, not possible for me. I suggested mounting satellite on my garage where my dish satellite is located and run wire thru inside of garage to my home. He said that would be too much trouble and he did not want to do that. I said we could just cancel the install. That is why I am very dissatisfied and cancelling my order for your product.

    Up until the recent problem, I have never had an interruption or problem with my HughesNet service. I believe this particular interruption in internet service was not the fault of HughesNet but the remnants of a hurricane moving through our area. HughesNet's customer service was excellent.     I have repeatedly tried to talk to somebody and get my Internet working properly and they promised to call me back and they never do.     Time I’ve called about an issue, I get a different answer. I’m on disability. I discussed with a representative about that and I have to be careful on what I spend. He gave me a price. The next month I was caught off guard with a bill that he told me that I WOULD NOT GET! I called in the other day about a $5 increase in my bill. I was told it was because my twenty four month discount was discontinued. He ask, didn’t they tell you that? I said no. He said well there’s nothing we can do about the $5. He said I was already getting a $50 and $20 credit. And it was good for 12 months. I told him I was told 24 months. He said no. Sorry. They shouldn’t have told you that.

    Seems that’s all I hear. THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TOLD YOU THAT. I’ve about had it with representatives telling me, well they shouldn’t have told you that!!!! Being on disability, I don’t need and can’t afford unexpected charges. You tell me upfront what I owe and I’ll tell you where I can afford it or not.     I lost service during storms and since Covid 19 when everyone is working from home Hughes.net has limited service. The max is 50 gigs per month which is nothing. We lost service mid month 2x and could not get more. Buyer beware, once they install it there is a huge cancelation fee and you are required to ship back the equipment.

    I was sold a system that would run VPN. When the installer had me check I was getting 1 MBs download. He told me to turn off VPN and there was 46 MB download. Not exactly able to run with VPN. Many problems with upload speed as low as .01 up. Not much happens with that. Our signal strength is 101 to 105 to the bird.     How are you going to work without any equipment to install new customers internet. The man was very nice but wasted over 2-3 hrs trying to figure out what he was going to do.     I have been a Hughesnet customer, always good with my payment. Have to pay to get out your service for & 120. dollars your service never work for us, first installed in our garage. Second one on the Home. Never improved our Internet service. Service is poor. I’ve talked to various people in neighborhood.     From the first phone call I received misinformation (and out right lies) from this company. I canceled the service after the first month. I live in a rural area and my first attempt at internet service was through the local phone company via DSL. They promised a minimum of 10 mbps and delivered 3 for a price of $80 per month. Canceled after first month and ate the installation and modem costs. I received a flyer for satellite service so called a HughesNet affiliate for info. I was promised by the salesman a minimum of 25mbps with no caps, no thresholds, no limits, no contracts and no throttling. I was skeptical so I asked multiple times. There was no misunderstanding only blatant lies. Order was taken over the phone and I received zero written confirmation on the order.

    The tech showed up for installation and was very professional and personable. Once hooked up he ran a speed test and it showed I was receiving around 40mbps. I was happy and he left. My happiness lasted only moments however as when I tried to watch a Youtube video it took a ton of time to load and would only run for 10 seconds before buffering for 30 seconds. I tested on 5 different devices I own and the problem was definitely the internet signal. After literally hours on the phone with tech support they finally agreed to send a tech out and replace all the equipment. A new tech shows up and was very professional and personable. He replaced all the equipment and we tested the service together and there was a marked improvement (40mbps) BUT we still could not run a YouTube video on even the lowest setting without it buffering every 6 to 10 seconds.

    HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE: It is not the speed of the signal that is the problem but the quality of the signal. The hot spot on my phone, running at only 5mbps, was able to play YouTube videos without buffering. The diagnostic tests they run from their site are useless but they will argue with you for hours that everything is good and that it must be your equipment. Totally untrue so don't buy it! For this crappy service they wanted to charge me $59 plus equipment rental of $15 plus taxes for a stinking 10gb of data per month after which they throttle the speed down to 2mbps. They were unwilling to make any concessions due to the problem I was having so I told them no way! Cancel it. Then they tried to get me for a $200 early cancellation fee!! I told them of the sales call and that I never agreed to any contract verbally or written. They directed me to the costumer complaint department who said they would review the recorded sales call.

    A week later I heard back that they were unable to review the call and their big solution was to waive the early termination fee. Big whoop! Now I'm waiting on them sending me a box to return their equipment which I have to get up on a ladder to uninstall and package and mail. I'm out over $100 installation fees, $75 in service fees and hours of my time and untold aggravation for a service that was virtually unusable. I ended up adding another phone line with 30GB of data for $25 per month through Verizon and it running over 20mbps. This same data from HughesNet {if it even worked) would be over $100 per month more. As you can tell, I'm very unsatisfied and would not recommend HughesNet.

    P.S. I learned from the tech that they limit all video to 480p even though the modems will play at 720p. He said that you can call and ask them to change to settings on your modem to 720p but that it will eat through your data faster. Lastly he told me the secret of getting a tech to come to your house and bypass the horrible support line is to unplug your modem. They get no lights to give you bogus info and will send a tech.

    Our HughesNet service continually buffers or has a pixelated signal when we try to view movies or cable network shows. Our download speed normally runs from 1.73 to 2.88 mbps and upload from .12 to 2.68 mbps. Today (for the first time) I had a 19.19 mbps download and a 1.81 mbps upload and two hours later a 2.68 mbps download and .23 mbps upload.

    I feel that the inconsistent upload and download speeds must contribute to the buffering and unstable signal that we experience. Are there any suggestions to improve our signal so that we receive the level of service we expected when we signed up for HughesNet? Hughes continued to debit from my checking for both the old, closed, residential account, and my current business account.     I have had your services for almost 2 years. Internet only. I don’t have a laptop and I don’t need Internet for anything in my house except Netflix, which I got so my grandkids and May could watch movies when they were here. For almost 2 years every time we got ready to watch a movie we couldn’t. I would have to call and someone work on the network to get it to work and that took hours by then my grandkids had to go to bed. Vudu try to watch Yellowstone. Every time had to reboot and reboot and reboot. Took three hours to watch an hour movie. You can look at my record. I never missed a payment. Was always on time, but I would call and they was going to send somebody out here to work on it but I would have to pay for it.

    I got to the point where I’d had enough. My contract was what’s over first to September. I thought they told me it wasn’t till October which I don’t believe that. I looked on my records and I didn’t start it until September 2 years ago. When I called and told him I was canceling my account they got a man on the phone supposed to be a supervisor who kept trying to get me not to tell me that since somebody out here for free to work on it. And then they said that they wasn’t going to charge me for that man. I didn’t have to pay anything but leave it hooked up for a few months on vacation or something like that. I kept telling him no I called the middle August. Had two weeks before Frontier Internet was going to be hooked up at my house.

    The manager kept arguing with me that about everything. So they said my Internet would be disconnected on 15 September. because that’s when frontier was getting hooked up. well the minute I hung up the phone my Internet I could not get Netflix or anything after that he took it all off then on 1 September they took out a payment for half a month which I understand that. But now they want me to pay $100 to somebody to come take this thing off of my roof and I can’t do it and I don’t have anybody else who can do it. I just gonna go on my credit even though I paid my payments for almost 2 years without missing.

    So I’m turning y’all into the Better Business Bureau. I’m going to mail back the other stuff because I can’t get on my roof and get this off and I can’t afford. I live on Social Security. I cannot afford to have someone take this off the roof. I have had frontier for two weeks now. I’ve stayed up late. I love it. I get to watch whatever movies I want. Never a problem. Never a rebooting or anything. I do not feel like y’all were fair to me. Thank you.

    In my opinion I think Hughes Net could do better giving people, especially through the epidemic, lower prices or at least don't be so greedy with the speed byte count. The upgrades are horrible deals I believe, getting only minimal speed. On a good note, the service of installing and customer service are very helpful and welcoming, and also a good thing is when you actually have the speed bytes and haven't run out on data that it is pretty good service.     We signed up with Hughesnet for internet services and paid $750 for the dish and other equipment. Was told at the time of purchase that if it did not work Hughesnet would purchase back equipment at a reduced price. This is not true. After purchasing the equipment and finding out it didn't work, they refused to buy it back. Said they "stopped doing that". We were also told that their policy is not to take back the equipment after 30 days, but we were not told that at time of purchase. Nor did we get an installation receipt from the installer explaining the return policy or what equipment was installed. After the tech completed the installation of the dish, he told me the signal was strong and we were good to go. But, when I went into the house and attempted to stream a show, I got a spinning circle.

    Over the next day or two I got error messages saying I was not connected to the internet. The tech was called out again and he said that there was nothing for him to fix and that the signal was as good as it was going to get. He said we needed to cut down about 4 very large Cedar trees. The cost to cut the trees down is $2400 minimum. When we called to cancel we were told that we would have to pay a $350 cancellation fee. I tried to explain that since installation, we did not, nor did we really ever have internet service whatsoever and that it did not work where we live. I also explained that I did not believe I should have to pay a cancellation fee for a service that I never rec'd or was able to use.

    I asked for a supervisor several times, but no supervisor would take our call. After repeated requests to speak to the supervisor and the representative coming back with different (reduced) offers of cancellation fees, we finally got the cancellation fee waived. But, if I hadn't pushed so hard, we would have been stuck with the fee. They didn't seem to care that we never got to use the service or the equipment, they just wanted to get as much money from us as they could.

    Hughesnet knows we never used the service or equipment and that it did not work for us, but they still refuse to take the equipment back at a reduced cost. I firmly believe the reason the supervisor would not take my call was because they knew they were in the wrong and did not have a good explanation as to why they wouldn't at least return some of the money we spent on non functioning equipment. My husband and I were ripped off by a company we trusted. I normally do not fill out negative reviews, but I thought I should let consumers know what could happen to them if the service doesn't work for them. At least now they can make an educated decision.

    We called several times this summer for service. Each time it was taken care of, but it takes so long to get service. Last service call the tech spliced our underground cable. Hopefully that splice will not cause problems with water and dampness getting into the wire.

    I wasn't aware that the phone system would be so bad. First of all, I wanted my existing phone no. Nobody told me it would be changed unless I asked. The reception is terrible. On some calls there's lots of static and the delay in the conversation is maddening. Sometimes the phone rings once -- that's it! Nobody is there.

    Signal is poor and transmission is slow loading, doesn't work during even normal rain storms and not at all for heavy rain. It is too expensive. Haven't gone through a winter yet but I anticipate it having worse reception with really slow downloads.

    Where nothing else is available, HughesNet is a great option. Download speeds are impressive, allowing streaming video even when speeds are degraded after I use up my monthly quota. Customer service is decent, they allow up to six months vacation per year (no fees for recurring service during that time). I even use it for voice communications (Google Voice), since I have no cell service at home. The unavoidable satellite delay and slower upload speeds make voice and interactive video (like Zoom and Skype) less than great, but way better than nothing.

    I am very unhappy with the latency issues with satellite internet. If I could opt out of my 2 year contract after 1 month I WOULD!!!     The issues I have you can do nothing about. Any kind of weather knocks it out. Live streaming is slower than I remember dial up being. Certain times of the day I cannot watch videos due to the activity level. I cannot do a work-from-home job so a vast amount of jobs are not accessible and I need a job badly. As I said nothing you can do about any of that. It is what it is.

    When I signed up to receive service it was with DirecTV when they had a package with HughesNet. April 2019 & when I signed up I was told about the cancellation fee with DirecTV but not with HughesNet. I've had the worst experience with both companies. Now I want to cancel and I was just informed about the cancellation fee. That is unacceptable. I am on a fixed income and now I have to pay $175 that I do not have to get out of this service that I thought was going to be reasonable.     Need outlet closer to devices. Install tech has router 30 ft away. Voiced my concern with distance but install tech said is just to put it by satellite and single would be same. Hard to access lan with cat5 w/o going across dining and living room. Support Rep wouldn't give appt. Went on about speed cap and throttle. I know about those, retired network engineer. Salesman told me I would have at least 10 mbps on throttle, but found that was not true on 3 mbps. Now mainly everything buffers. LAN connection does help with better reception and at times decreasing buffering. Rep wouldn't give appt because of cap. Told me to buy more tokens. Unreal and very sad. It is about the money, not the quality of service or product. I want the router closet to all the devices instead of other side of room where there are none.

    Hughes doesn't deliver a product that works and holds the handcuffs on with a very poor product and service.. Latency is so high I can't even handle the simplest of functions of checking emails and small PDF files. They've tried to correct my problem and had numerous techs out and they all say nothing can be done and when I want to cancel, well you have to pay for that. Oh and another thing....after a few tech calls and the highest tier support, they tell me I'm not even on the new satellite which was what they sold me on.
