I began using GoDaddy about four months ago when I created a WordPress website for my new real estate brokerage. My website is hosted by their basic WordPress hosting service. The speed is good with TTFB (time to first byte, the measure of server speed) coming in at just over 300ms. However, the experience with their support was very disappointing. Some techs were very helpful and knowledgeable, but many had no interest in helping at all. That second group focused on nothing but up selling. The most common recommendation was to increase my hosting spend to $50/month if I wanted good results. Then there was a third group of poorly trained new employees who didn't understand they were providing wrong information, refused to consult with others to get answers and refused to transfer my call to their superior. Very frustrating.

After a few months I need a second domain to house my landing pages exclusively. While most hosting companies and many domain registrars offer free SSL certificates and privacy, GoDaddy Charges $65 or more per year for the first a $9.99 per year for the second. They also only have one hosting service that does not require that you buy an SSL certificate from them if you want to use one. I opted for that service and the performance is horrible. The TTFB for their Linus based cPanel hosting was in the 5 second range. Keep in mind that an acceptable reading would have been 500ms or lower. I was running Google ads and Google was raising my cost per click and warning that my landing pages were loading too slowly.

When I called GoDaddy for help, they blamed my website design, my plugins and just about everything but their service. When I pointed out that my Page Speed score was 97% and my YSlow score was 94%, measures that show my website is perfectly optimized for speed, they switched strategy and tried to sell me on the concept that my site was being hacked 16,000 time a day and the only solution was to switch to their $50/month hosting plan. Horrible! Friends don't let friends buy services from GoDaddy!

I have never written such a bad review, but these guys have wasted so much of my time and cost me so much lost revenue that I have to write this, even if it is just to make me feel better. I'm not even sure if what they do is legal. Where do I start. First off we spent so much time and energy bidding on a domain (after paying to be on a notice when it came up for auction). We won it, because I stayed in front of the computer making sure the bot that I was bidding against would not outbid me.

Then two weeks later I get a refund for my payment because the original owner agreed to pay for it what I paid for it! Such a waste of time. Then I get an email that is marked as suspicious saying my email account (we used them to host our website) was going to expire if I didn't "act soon". I spent over two hours total on chat and was finally told it was not spam, and I should do what the email told me to do. When I tried to, google would not let me because they had red-flagged the site. So I called the customer care center and they told me it was indeed spam. So, I ignored it. Came to find a few days later that my email account was suspended. When I called they said "well, we sent you an email".

Receiving emails is critical to our business as we are a tour operator. This all happened during one of the busiest weeks of the year. I have no idea how much business I lost as people could not reach me! At the moment I have been on hold for 32 minutes. Yes, 32 minutes! Which is partially why I am so upset and writing this real review. DO NOT USE GODADDY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, THEY ARE CONS!

Five times in 30 Days My Website is Offline. For several years I was pretty happy with GoDaddy, their Reps (it takes a while to get one) but lately their service has plummeted. I have a web application, they conducted an upgrade to their system and five times they have knocked my website down. Each time to fix it requires hours of my time -- and promises they break. It's horrific. Meanwhile my clients are completely blocked unable to access their content. I'm leaving -- but meanwhile no one has tried to make this right and they don't escalate. Go somewhere else -- this is not how you run a business - they are supposed to provide a service that helps me run my business not hurts.

Looks like PayPal filed a UDRP case against you. Just so you know, if you get lucky and find a domain name in this day and age that perfectly matches your idea for a business like Paypalbuys.com because on my ecommerce drop ship website I only used and trusted PayPal payments. I thought I was doing them the favour getting shoppers to sign up to PayPal to shop with us, but no. PayPal had started a case against me and my legally purchased domain name, while I was on holiday and hadn't even checked my emails to realise my domain name was gone by the time I got back home.

Now GoDaddy tells me, they won’t even refund me for the next two years of my domain or its privacy costs. So don't expect these big companies to be fair and square people. I learnt the hard way after losing all my savings into a business venture that was just taken away with a flick of a finger. I will be looking into Australian consumer affairs to see what my rights are but be aware things aren't what they seem to be.

Had a bad experience with GoDaddy? I want to hear from you. I was a faithful GoDaddy customer for 13 years, but after finally getting fed up with their ever-changing terms of service, inadequate tech support and their constant, early billing and product cancellation threats, I decided to move my web hosting and five domain registrations to a different company. That’s when the real trouble began. GoDaddy stood in my way at every possible turn.

After I followed all of their domain transfer instructions, they would e-mail me the necessary transfer codes, and then later claim, for unspecified reasons, that they could not process the transfers. (By this time, they had taken down all of my websites and said I would have to open a new GoDaddy account before my sites could be restored.) Then they told me I first had to remove Domain Privacy from each of my websites (falsely claiming that this was an ICANN requirement).

GoDaddy thus forced me to place all my personal information, cell phone number, home and e-mail addresses on the web for for an indeterminate timeframe, accessible by potentially every spammer and identity thief in the world. GoDaddy then claimed there was a 2-week waiting period before the transfers could be performed. In addition, GoDaddy falsely denied being the Registrar of Contact.

I legally recorded GoDaddy’s lies under California penal code 633.5, and those recordings are court-admissible evidence. If you have had a bad experience with GoDaddy and would like to join me in Class Action against them, please contact me. I have all the necessary documentation to initiate long-overdue legal proceedings against this awful company. Thank you.

They are rude and arrogant and show a complete lack of customer service. Their web chat service doesn’t reply and they have no email support or complaints department. Not only did they charge me and refuse to refund me but they also refused to provide the service email/domains they charged me for. Worst company. Scammers.

I have been a GoDaddy customer for over 14 years (two separate accounts over the years). I had my plan set to auto-renew so that I would "never" have to worry about my websites being down. I did not receive ANY emails or auto-mated phone calls notifying me that my hosting plan was about to expire or that my credit card number on file was no longer valid. The last email that I received from GoDaddy was on June 24th.

I realized on November 12th that my website was down. When I called to inquire ALL of my website files and backups had been deleted. I was told by the representative that GoDaddy used to email to multiple email addresses but they changed their system over the summer (around the time that I stopped receiving emails) to only send to ONE email address on file. The email that they defaulted to was an email that I had been locked out of for over 10 years. I personally did not receive ANY emails notifying me of this change in email addresses, nor was I even aware that they had this email on file since I had not used it in over 10 years because I was locked out of it. I was told that they could see that all of the emails that they sent to this email address were bouncing back, yet their system still set that email to my default. Again, I was not notified of this change in any manner and therefore had no idea that my hosting plan had been deleted.

The first representative that I spoke with was kind and compassionate and was going to speak to admins to see if there was anything more that he could do to help (and to give me a hefty discount on a new hosting plan). He stated that he would call me back when the admins got out of their meeting. This never happened. I called back on November 15th and was met with an extremely rude and inconsiderate representative who was defensive the entire conversation. When I finally asked to speak to a supervisor (nearly 45 minutes later) the supervisor was also rude and spoke to me for about one minute to tell me that they would not honor what the former representative told me because he was a supervisor and he supersedes what he told me and the best he can do is offer me a 22% reduction.

I hope whoever oversees GoDaddy's customer support and business reads this email. I was a long time GoDaddy customer who was treated less than ideal, especially for someone who has been a customer for 14+ years. I will no longer be recommending GoDaddy to anyone who is looking for domain or hosting support.

As a small business owner, having a working website that moves smoothly is essential. My website was down for 48 hours, after I asked for forwarding support. I called in 4 times in 2 days, sent screenshots, had members of my team and customers sending screen shots worldwide showing the site was down. Each time speaking to: Casey, Jason, Nick, and unprofessional manager Devon, they spent more time trying to prove to me that because they saw no error nothing was wrong vs trying to fix the actual issue.

Each time I was given the runaround and each time no support was provided to validate my experience or fix the website that I was still paying for, that showed it was down. Then they tried to convince me that our team based all over the USA & world all simultaneously were having regional connection issues. At no point did anyone walk me thru tech support or troubleshooting support. At no point did someone do a screen share to see the error. At no point was I spoken to as if what was occurring was true.

If you want to frustrate yourself thinking you are calling a department that will help you when the going gets tough, call in. If you are a business owner who enjoys spending their day off calling and being told your website which no one can access, is accessible. Call in. Otherwise, trust the reviews. It's a cheap site, with dismissive customer service. Trust this and the other negative reviews. If one person had actually said let's take a look at what's going on and see how I can help make this better, that would have been the world of difference. So instead I had to have them undo what they did that created the problem, and validate me. Shame on you Godaddy. Shame on you.

GoDaddy is one of those companies that is fine to use as long as everything runs smoothly. As soon as you run into a problem, you might as well cancel your subscription because their customer 'support' is worse than no support at all. Recently our company changed the primary bank account we use, and had to update our billing information. When trying to log in, none of the passwords we had on hand worked for our account. When we tried to reset the account password, although all of our contact information was up-to-date, we did not receive an e-mail with a reset link in it -- in fact, we received nothing at all, although we attempted to reset our password multiple times.

When I got in touch with the customer support to ask if they could manually send us a link, they either would not or could not help us. They would not resend the link, allow us to update our billing information over the phone, or even confirm that it was being sent to the right e-mail address (it was - it's the same e-mail address that they used to inform us of the need to update our billing information, but the company representative *refused to confirm this* because they claimed the account could have been 'compromised'. There was no reason given for this suspicion).

The only assistance they could provide was to tell us that the company owner would have to rekey everything manually, and it would take up to three days for any changes to take place. *Three days* to reset your password is a ludicrous amount of time not to be able to access your account. And if you have ever run or been employed by a small business, you know how busy your company owners are - spending valuable time arguing with customer service or wrangling with a poorly-designed website is exactly the reason why they hire assistance, such as the assistant that GoDaddy refused to acknowledge as a representative of our company.

Luckily, we were able to find the old password when our tech support came into the office, but it is really astonishing to me that an actual company representative could not help with a problem that, for most websites, takes under 30 seconds to resolve. I have never used GoDaddy for my personal website hosting and after this experience, I never will, and would actively discourage other people from subscribing to this hosting service.

I called customer service and asked for a less expensive alternative: shorter time frame, less "protection" etc. and was told that they could help by offering the name for sale but otherwise "nothing can be done". I'm sorry but GoDaddy customer service is an imposition. Your chat service in India doesn't have a clue what they are doing. They keep telling you to wait 24 hours here, then wait another 48 hours there. Your service hotline can at least point out where the problem is, but they are not helping you to fix it. I have a problem with my SSL certificate. I installed it according to the GoDaddy instructions and then it suddenly shows up as "self-signed". So my website is not accessible for the public, even though I paid 80$ for the SSL certificate. The call center agent tells me that "I" made a mistake when ordering the certificate because "I" used a www. instead of an https://.

Hold on, I bought my domain as www. and only because of the SSL certificate it had changed to an https:// What the heck??!! Good, at least now I know where the problem supposedly is. But to fix it, I can either try to do it myself (with GoDaddy instructions that are incomplete, contradicting and definitely not working) or I can pay GoDaddy another 70$ so they fix a mistake that was never done by me...? That's fraud, quite honestly.

If you're in the business of building and hosting websites, you'd think that your own website would work fairly well. This is not the case with GoDaddy. The website seems like it was haphazardly thrown together in an hour and a half by a guy named Kyle. After purchasing a domain name, I was presented with the option to use their website builder. When I went to that page it just kept loading for over a minute, so I refreshed the page and it said please log in to continue. I had never been asked to make a username so I had to go into my work email to find the account number and sign in using that. Off to a great start.

When I logged in, the home page had a full banner that said start building your website for free. I clicked on this and it loaded the website builder. I had to refresh the page several times before it finally loaded. I started to build the website, and it was looking good enough to publish. Then after about a half hour I went to publish it so I could see how it looked from an outside view. It said it was published to a .godaddy.com subdomain. It had an option to link a domain I already owned so I clicked that and it brought me to a page where it asked me to subscribe to a premium plan of $29.99 a month to link a real domain to the website I just built.

Furious, I went to the control panel to see where my domain was and when I did see the option to manage the domain, it was separate from the website I built. Apparently, it is impossible to link a website to a domain unless you started building the website through the "manage" section of the domain (the first thing I tried, when the page wouldn't load).

I had to start from scratch, and then after working my way around their clunky excuse for a website builder, published. I went back to the control panel. After looking at the website I decided to make a change. I went into the website builder for that domain, the same way as before, and it starts over asking me to name the website, etc. As if I was making a new website? I searched for a way to edit my website but there doesn't seem to be a way, beyond starting over. I'm on hold with customer service right now, they said my estimated wait time is more than 60 minutes. Again, very ironic that a website dedicated to building other websites is so shoddy. I guess those who can't do, teach. Don't waste your time with this.

The GoDaddy website says the $0.99 domain name is 1 per customer. It does not say 1 per customer per lifetime. This is fraudulent advertising. They need to be investigated and fined.

A day after I renewed my domain I got an email from my Credit Card Company saying "it looks like you were billed twice." So I clicked on "help me fix this" and forgot about it. Now instead of simply deleting the duplicate charge it turns out GoDaddy canceled my renewal entirely. When I called to get my domain back online they told me I owed them an additional $50 as "reimbursement" for a fee that my CC company allegedly charged them because of the dispute. My choices at that point were to lose the domain or to pay their fee. So I paid it and immediately called my CC company. Well my CC company told me that they NEVER charged GoDaddy that $50 and that's not something they would do for something so simple as a double billing. So now we're not just talking shady. We're talking borderline criminal wire fraud.

So my CC company's fraud department set up a 3-way call with me and GoDaddy. Even a major CC company had to wait 20 minutes for them to pick up the phone. Long story short, the supervisor at GoDaddy informed me and my CC company that EVEN IF THEIR AGENT HAD LIED about the reason for the $50 fee I was still liable to pay it. He called it an administrative fee to cover their costs of removing a simple double billing.

    1. GoDaddy will lie to you.

    2. GoDaddy will hold your domain hostage until you pay them invented inflated fees.

    3. Avoid GoDaddy.

When I started my ten year plan they gave me a new domain name while concurrently running and charging me for the old one which they were supposed to delete and never did. When I discovered this a year later they told me I was supposed to rename and delete the old website (that I didn’t know existed) myself. They said that since it took me a year to notice the double billing that they would offer me credit on something that I didn’t need. I was forced into agreeing under the threat that I would receive no acknowledgement over the discrepancy at all. (my father had passed away just before the time of the double billing and I hadn’t been paying attention to my credit charges)

I feel they took advantage of my lack of computer savvy, lied to me about the ten year term and didn’t adequately inform me that they would be renaming and relocating my website. I felt forced into buying a product I didn’t need. I feel they should reimburse my credit card for the site I never knew existed (599.40) and release and reimburse me for the seven years I don’t need anymore as I have moved on to a more reliable and honest service.

We did a domain with GoDaddy for a new small business and specifically said NO to auto renewal. Well..2 years later guess what?! AUTO RENEWED on our credit card. We call Godaddy and they said we didn't owe them any money and our domain was closed and to dispute it with the credit card. We disputed it with our CC but GoDaddy told our CC we were an active account and owed the money so our credit card won't credit our account without proof and that we needed documentation from GoDaddy that our account is closed. GoDaddy said "yes, you're closed and we owe you a refund of $56 but you disputed the charge with your CC so there is no refund due to you". Whaaat? They can just charge you $56, tell you your domain is cancelled and if you want to reactivate that is $50 charge but Hey, you don't get a refund either! I'd call this fraud. SCAM!

Just as previous reviews before this one GoDaddy charges you, gives you instructions on what you should do, then when you have NO domain, they tell you so sad for you! Wow!! How do they get away with this?? The manager we spoke with said "there wasn't anything they can do for us... we would not be getting a refund and we no longer had a domain". Unfortunately, my only proof is the multiple phone calls we had with the GoDaddy and our CC because are you ready... GoDaddy doesn't provide documentation for closed accounts!!!!

The next few times I tried even to reach them I went through the prompts, then got music and then the line went dead (they hung up). This continued for 3 more times. This last Tech Person (a lady) went through all the other stuff and said that if I fill out the form and attach my government ID, GoDaddy would get back to me the next day and resolve the issue. (Will wait and see.) Meanwhile my website and emails to my business domain do not work.

Total time to resolve this problem is now into 4 weeks. When I am paying for services I do not like being treated this way. Question to GoDaddy, if your old platforms are so bad what makes me think your new one is better? Especially for $4,000.

Their last blame game was that my older website obtained a virus because it was put together wrong. Really? If that was the case why did I never have this problem before (the website is over 5 years old)? Was also told that their platform was hacked and therefore my account was compromised but that is my problem once again and for $4,822 they would upgrade me to a platform they don't allow hackers to get into. Now GoDaddy is holding my account hostage as they know I want out.

I've had a number of domains registered with GoDaddy for nearly 20 years. The tech support was terrific much of that time. This week we decided that we needed to get the email on two of our domains to synchronize between our devices and computers using an IMAP configuration. Trying to set it up got nothing but errors even though I was applying the settings as described on the GoDaddy site.

After going through a lot of misinformation on the site I discovered info indicating that we needed to convert the free email accounts with those domains to either Personal or Business paid accounts in order to use IMAP. Finding how to upgrade to either proved impossible so I phoned support. I was told the Personal was no longer available and that I'd need to buy an Unlimited Business Email package with the caveat that it would become obsolete within the next couple of years. The package was $120 for five email accounts and included unlimited storage.

I bought that and got one of our accounts up and working perfectly right away. The second kept having issues with the server rejecting the username when I tried sending email from a computer although it worked on two devices. After more effort the next day I called support again to resolve this issue. The overly patronizing agent asked me to log in to the browser based account to be sure that would work and have me send him an email from it. I entered "Test" as the subject and got lectured on the reasons not to do that.

The email did get through though and I was told that showed it was all okay and that the problem was in my software and he couldn't help me with that since "they hadn't sold the IMAP package I had for over five years." I pointed out that I had just purchased it 24 hours earlier and he said it shouldn't have been sold to me. Instead I should buy a $360 per year plan. ( In retrospect it appears that the $360 he quoted me was for their Business Hosting with a Virtual Private Server when all I wanted is upgraded email.)

At that point I was clearly irritated but under control even when he told me not "to be that guy". But it became obvious that he had no interest in helping resolve my issue. He was there to sell. GoDaddy records the support sessions and I can only hope that someone listens to that most unsatisfactory call. I've got his email address so they can clearly identify him. Today I resolved the problem on my own and I have the IMAP email working. Meantime I'm making plans to move all of our domains from GoDaddy.

The last couple of year it's been going downhill fast. First, calling now requires going through the complex computer system, and if you select the wrong buttons, you get transferred. Long hold times. Sometimes over 45 minutes and almost always 10+ minutes.

I bought some SSL certs, and the person didn't ask the right questions so it wasn't set up right. Didn't figure that out for many days. Called several times (on hold, gave up after 45 minutes once). Got through, new person said I should move to a new server (cheaper, faster). He said it would take 10 minutes to 24 hrs to remove the domains from the old server so I could manually enable it on the new server (wouldn't be automatic). After two days and more calling, found out the removal timed out. On the phone right now, and the new person is saying it will take another 24 hrs (maybe--no guarantee it will work).

So now my multiple websites are down, I am still waiting for some magic to happen on the Godaddy end, and there is no assurance that I'll be up and running tomorrow. Once my domains are relocated, I still have to wait up to 48 hours for the SSL work to happen (and I paid for that 2 weeks ago). Conclusion: Big company, doesn't care as much as it did, no longer hungry enough to keep customers satisfied.

Unfortunately Zero stars is not an option!!! I was tricked into getting o365 by Godaddy, when they told me that they were ending their exchange hosting plans. Everything was fine and well, while my small business was growing. As I started to need more comprehensive IT control, Godaddy started to remove O365 Admin features, without notifying me!

I spent countless hours trying to get an answer as to how I get back to the Microsoft Office 365 Admin Portal and they just kept telling me that I have access to the exchange Admin center. When I clicked on the Admin Center on Office.com, it kept redirecting me to Godaddy Admin page, which is NOT what I needed. I don't like to be insulting, but their "support staff" are completely ill-prepared for any type of semi-complicated issue. I am not an IT professional and I know more about how some of this stuff works than their "technical staff".

Aside from being conned into getting o365 direct through GoDaddy, (which I didn't have the need for at the time, since I was just using Office purchased all at once), they also gave me the run around about why features were removed from my account and it took them about two hours to provide me with an internal document admitting what I had known all along. Which was GoDaddy was removing critical features, in order to save cost with Microsoft.

That would have been all well and fine, but there was never any notification to their customers about the change and there was certainly NO reduction in price, which was completely ridiculous. When I started to push the issue of price reduction, the agent informed me that it was not possible to give me a price reduction. I kept repeating to him, "How could you remove features that are critical to the growth of my business and then not provide me with a lower price???" I also stated, "How is it fair that I am not paying the same price, for reduced features???"

Of course my complaints and requests fell on deaf ears. Now here is the icing on the cake, I pulled the trigger and hired consultant to migrate out of the Godaddy Netorg Tenant, so I can migrate directly to Microsoft and after all of the data was transferred into Microsoft, the office accounts deleted from Godaddy and the federation of the domain was requested, they are now telling me that my domain is stuck and it will require an additional 72 hours in order for it to be corrected. That mean 4 business days with no email communication.

I was even sent an internal memo from a Godaddy staff memo, confirming my suspicions of the removal of features. I wonder if Godaddy will compensate me for all of the lost business that I am losing because of their sheer negligence and pure incompetence??? ANYONE WHO USES GODADDY TO HOST THEIR website, do not let them talk you into their o365 package, especially if you anticipate wanted to utilize the full offerings that Microsoft offers!!!

When I called yesterday to ask about it I was told: By Scott, and Tabitha, (supervisor) that it is in the terms of service that when auto renewal is turned on it is allowable for Godaddy to renew for the first renewal period. This is absolutely unethical and fraud to charge people for more than they want. You have access to my credit card, and thus my trust and charged me for 9 years when I only want 2. I am close to retirement, and Have told your employees that when they try to sell me more time. I am at the end of the road, not the beginning. When I renew everything for one or two years, why would your company fraudulently renew for 9.

This is a matter of principle. My intention is to go to every outside agency to report this, as well as social medial, if this is not remedied in the next 24 hours. I was charged $160 some dollars instead of $30 some dollars. I am sure a company on the stock exchange does not need publicity about fraudulently charging people, as I don’t care what is in your legal terms of service, and I am sure others are not either. This is small print. Stealing and cheating from your good customers. Not a way to do business. If I treated my customers like that I would be out of business, and I intend that people know you do that while they do business with you. Potentially new customers. It is very hard to cheat people and get away with it, in today’s transparent world of social media, the internet review sites, etc.

On 3/8/19, I spoke with Curtis ** at GoDaddy Customer Service to explain that I had a phishing email in my account. Curtis said I had two options: 1 delete my email account or 2 have my email migrated to Office 365 for $252.25, stating this was the only remedy to secure my account as my account had been accessed through a ‘relay service’ with a ‘key logger’ installed. My son said these issues were not breaches on my virus-protected computer but through GoDaddy.

My son had me email Curtis to check to see if the log showed if any IP addresses had access to my account. Curtis wrote ‘Unfortunately we don't have the ability to see logs of IP address that have entered the account as the email type is antiqued.’ My son was able to find right on GoDaddy’s site a link for this info: https://www.godaddy.com/help/view-your-email-login-history-6844. I sent Curtis a screenshot showing what I found, showing no IP breaches. I, of course, received no reply so called GoDaddy this morning to explain that I felt I had been misled by Curtis and that what he sold me was unnecessary & that his telling me that this expensive fix was the only viable alternative short of canceling my email account was totally untruthful. My son explained that the email was a phishing email, with no breach. I am not a techie & depend on honesty in the companies that I pay/use.

I have been a good customer of GoDaddy for many years and don’t appreciate being taken advantage of. I called this morning and detailed the issue, and was told the order would be cancelled and a refund issued in 5-7 days. I have an email confirmation of this. I checked my email two hours later to find that no refund was going to be issued after all. I again called GoDaddy (exasperating!), explaining again to no avail of help and requested to speak with a supervisor. I was told I could speak with a Ms. **, who isn’t a supervisor, but the last person in the chain that I was allowed to speak with. She told me that she could offer a partial refund, but that I’d still be out approx. $100 for their ‘services’. I told her that I wanted a full refund due to unethical practices, and that I not only didn’t have a virus, but didn’t need to cancel my email account or buy Office 365 as there was never a problem in the first place.

This was all a ploy to get more money from me…and very unethical. I told her that I would be contacting my credit card company for assistance in the dispute if needed. She replied that she had done all she was willing to do, take it or leave it, so I called my credit card company as I do not feel I owe GoDaddy one cent. In fact, I think they owe me for all of the wasted time, energy, and dealing with their unscrupulous practices. I am livid.

I have all of the emails from Curtis at GoDaddy, as well as my cancellation email, and lastly the email that the ‘migration’ of my email account would not occur until Sunday or Monday, so it’s not even occurred yet, and it had better not. I began the process of questioning/cancellation last night/this morning, so before the migration ever occurred and would never have instituted the migration in the first place had they not used those scare tactics of the necessity of cancelling my email account without the migration to Office 365. I am a very small business and do not need the added expense of this more modern email system and I told every contact that I encountered at GoDaddy that my finances were limited and that I do not have money to spend on unnecessary purchases. This was definitely an unnecessary purchase. I call about a scam email and I am scammed by GoDaddy. How do you like that?

I am appalled by the lack of customer service and the outright disrespect of long-standing customers by not being allowed to speak with a supervisor when I repeatedly asked, knowing that my conversation with Ms. Cole was going nowhere and nothing but a waste of time, though she seemed to delight in the experience. She never answered why I was told that I would need to cancel my email if I didn’t migrate, even though she went back and listened to the taped conversation. Of course, what could she say as this was an out-and-out mistruth and they knew full well…Only wishing to scare customers so that they earn more money. I have contacted my credit card holder and explained the situation and if GoDaddy does not offer assistance, I will escalate the case. Very disappointed in GoDaddy all the way around.

Plesk doesn't offer any support to clients that don't have a License Key. I called them and the recording says I can only contact support on the phone with an open ticket. I tried to open a ticket online but a License Key is a required field. So no support... I called GoDaddy to request a refund and it was denied because I purchased this a couple of months ago even though it's the first time using it. The solution I was given was "not to get Plesk the next time". Lol. So disappointing and frustrating. Bad service from GoDaddy and Plesk.

I started hosting with Godaddy 8 years ago and every year they would raise the price on me so much and I would have to call in and negotiate the rate and always felt taken advantage of. I started having major issues when I couldn't send or receive emails to my sons school no matter what I did. It also started happening with friends and invites. I called them and they said I needed to pay money to upgrade in order to fix this... really? Upgrade just so I can send and receive emails? I started using gmail as my main email for school and such and rarely used my Godaddy email anymore but would still check it just in case an important email came through. My plan was to let my subscription run out- that's how much I hate dealing with them. Trying to transfer it over had become a nightmare.

So a month before the subscription was up, I wasn't able to log into my account! I changed the password and it worked for a day or so, then blocked me out again saying something was wrong. At the same time I kept receiving emails on my gmail on how I needed to update my billing info. I'm sure they were doing this on purpose so I could call in and give them my updated credit card info. This company is very unethical. Will never use them again. Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Then I also found out my website was out of date and for another $1500 they would make it up to date for another 10-15 years. What happened to the other one I paid for in 2015? When you call all they want is to sell something else and that's all.

When I couldn't access that account containing all my saved correspondence and contacts, I called the "customer service" department only to have a rep and supervisor tell me that, without any notice, I lost it when I canceled the tool but could get it back for a $130 restoration fee.

I told both that I felt they were holding my personal e-mails for ransom and pleaded for access to them for just five minutes so I could transfer everything, but despite my background as a loyal customer and still having several active products they were adamant that I pay up or never see them again. As a matter of principle I chose the latter and lost 10 years of my saved e-mails. It's a hard loss to absorb but I'd feel exploited and victimized if I succumbed to GoDaddy's extortion so it was the way to go.

The cost for only 4 pages was very high $1,700.00, but I still agreed to give it a try. I had my first scheduled consultation with a pro web designer only to be “rescheduled“ because GoDaddy did not have the correct phone number. I had already taken an hour off work for this appointment. My next appointment was 3 days later and AGAIN NO phone call!

I called GoDaddy and they said they absolutely called me and there was no answer or voicemail! I explained that was impossible since I have been with my phone and no calls came in. The first representative was rude when I expressed my frustration and asked for his supervisor. An email confirmed yet again GoDaddy called a wrong number! The supervisor was understanding and agreed that I gave their company 2 opportunities and they didn’t deliver. The only positive was they agreed to refund my whole purchase amount. As I fought with the company to get them to see what they did wrong, they destroyed the website after 20 days overdue!! I was out of the country and didn't get the email fast enough, and they destroyed it. Then they wanted to charge me $500 to restore it, and even though the non-profit didn't have it we were going to charge it and try to raise it later. So, out of the country, I make the bill up to date, the card was blocked for a security issue. Then I okay a $500 charge to restore the site... But they don't do it. So I finish my stay out of the country, return home, and the site is still not restored.

I called and called and got moved around and eventually, after a lot of drama I emailed the CEO of Godaddy. He apologized and made the excuse that my account was '20 days past due' and that's why it was canceled, really GoDaddy, destroyed even!! THEN I had another non-profit got a free hosting package 'grant' they call it, but the next year they want me to pay over 100 for hosting services. I refused and have moved all of my accounts from GoDaddy, never again will I spend another dime at GoDaddy. You should know that the site they took down and pretended it was normal to do that after only a 20 day past due balance, was LGBTQ writers, indigenous news like Standing Rock, autistic progressive folks and other progressive spirituality news.

The account was registered to my personal email ID & mobile number. But to blackmail me with more money; the developers hacked my domain by replacing original email ID & mobile with their personal ones. Now where is the security here? As per change process especially for domain sellers like GoDaddy they should first send the OTP on existing email or mobile to confirm if the change is genuine. It means anyone with whom you share the details they have rights to update the mobile & email ID and you will only come to know after 11 hours if some settings were done on your GoDaddy account.

I lost my money, my time and most important my domain. And when I called up them and shared all the details even PIN they asking me to log in to current registered email ID & mobile and share OTP as if I know the password of developers who hacked it. I shared information like customer #, last changed password even payment info but they were like silent. Can't do anything. Please don't buy domain through them if such is the security concern.

I am strongly suspecting they are on commission. He also changed the security settings so I could not log in. The 360 system was a nightmare and my Outlook never worked after that. From what I hear from others it is a very unpopular program. I do not want the 360, in fact I NEVER wanted it, never requested it, and need it to go away. It is awful and has messed up my whole system, I have spent the last 6 weeks trying to sort this out and have been trying to get GoDaddy to correct the mess they made. They completely could care less.

That is just in the last 3 days, let alone the hours and hours over the last few weeks. All I want them to do is to put my account back to how it was before they screwed around with it. I need them to correct the mistake that GoDaddy made... Is that so unreasonable?

GoDaddy just want to send me an email and have me get my outlook back myself and absolutely refuse to help and walk me through it. I am not a techy person and do not understand the document. I will now have to pay a tech guy to correct the damage that GoDaddy did and they have not even apologized. They just keep telling me I need to use the webmail. I DO NOT WANT to use the webmail, I want to use my Outlook system that I had before they messed with it, the system that I have all my other accounts connected too.

GoDaddy has robbed me of hours and hours of my time and will not correct the mess they made. It has taken weeks and weeks and hours and hours so far, they have cost me a fortune in my lack of productivity due to this. I spoke to a supposed supervisor today David **, who simply refused to help and if his attitude is anything to go by, GoDaddy simply does not care. They simply do not care. There have been so many issues with Godaddy that I am now leaving the money invested with them and moving forward to a different host. Loss of two year’s money is much better than having trouble every other day to me. Cons of Godaddy Managed WordPress: 1. Extremely Slow Performance. 2. Dumbest Customer Support. 3. You face a problem every other day. 4. The site will go down even if there are 5-6 visitors at a time. 5. Very Low PHP limits. 6. Very Low RAM. 7. Old and slow servers. 8. OVERSOLD (10-15 times the capacity). 9. Only Godaddy SSL allowed. 10. Support chat and phone are of very little to no help.

Support: This is the worst thing about Godaddy after their hosting. They do not understand simple things and will keep asking you silly questions again and again. They do not know what Cloudflare is. They will keep contradicting their own statements multiple times in a chat. I do not understand what Godaddy saw while hiring these executives. They are so dumb, they should not even work in the hosting industry. Hosting: This is the worst part of Godaddy. Managed WordPress should be fast and scalable. This is what is missing from them. The hosting is slow, doesn't support more than 6-7 users at a time. The website slows down or starts showing capacity problems immediately. Also, if you have a WooCommerce Store stay miles away from them. Even with 20-25 products, the store takes more than 20-25 sec to load. ONE LAST THING, if you want to avoid all this headache, kindly stay away from anything from Godaddy.

I'm a website designer that used to refer all my clients to GoDaddy for their domain registration, as well as WordPress hosting. Their prices are somewhat competitive and they used to really care for their customers should issues arise. That said, in the last month I've had issues with two separate client websites going down for no particular reason and when I contacted GoDaddy to aid in troubleshooting the issues, I was told that I had to purchase an additional "expert" package.

Well, the first time I was lied to about what I was purchasing and immediately demanded a refund, which I was told wasn't possible, I had to know to use the magic word of "cancel" before I was offered that possibility; further, I was told my refund would take 5-7 business days and I didn't see a dime of my money for 3 full weeks and had to request it twice, as the request wasn't processed in my initial communication (all in writing, BTW, only contact them through their chat platform and SAVE EVERYTHING!!!).

Just today, I had another issue where a client site wasn't loading, frontend or backend access, and instead of telling me to try to restore from backup, they wanted me to sign up for their "expert" package to try to sort the issue. NOPE. I restored from a backup stored on THEIR SYSTEM and the site was immediately returned to its accessible state. Never once did they mention this was a possibility! I am beyond furious and am recommending ALL of my clients to switch to another host that actually takes care of its customers.

In July of 2018 I purchased (among other things -- spent nearly $1,000 in one pop) managed local listings. A GoDaddy team member was to contact me to get the information needed to place my business in local listings like Yelp and such. The reason I purchased this service was because I had absolutely NO time to do this myself. I assumed someone would contact me and went about managing my business -- which consumes most of my waking hours at this point. I won't lie, I didn't think about it again until I was going through credit card statements for taxes in September and realized I had purchased the service.

I called GoDaddy up... They'd have someone call me within three days. Well, three weeks went by and no one called. I called them up again and told them I wanted my money back, that if they didn't care enough to provide me the service I had paid for, I wanted a refund. They then trot out their "you only have 30 days to ask for a refund" and refused my request. I appealed it and again was denied. Yet in all this going back and forth, actually providing me the services I paid for was never offered. Not so much as an apology and let's try to make it right.

I am totally flabbergasted that a company of this size can literally steal money from their customers and nothing can be done. I disputed the charge with my credit card company but they have denied my dispute. So basically, I'm out $300 for a service I never got and GoDaddy sits fat, dumb, and happy. Buyer beware -- this company is dishonest as the day is long.

Then they said they were upgrading to Microsoft 360 and email would go down on x-date and we would need to call them to reset on phones and computers. They decided to ignore the date they gave and shut email down without telling us... Again.

Then we put in a ticket to get access to our WP site. At the time, the sales rep asked if we'd like our logo changed too. We said yes. We then get a ticket that our logo was changed - here is the before and after pic three days later. Lo and behold - no access to our WP site. Then spent hours chatting to get it resolved. So disappointed. All they do is sell, there is no completion and no accountability. This is not the GoDaddy I used years ago.

I've use Godaddy for more than 10 years. Mostly to purchase Domains. One website builder. Initially they had exceptional customer support and service but that appears to have changed. I'm writing this review to log in what I think is a deceptive practice, unethical and possible tricks they have been doing to customers. Firstly when calling in, I now notice that you are placed on hold for long periods of time, when a associate comes on, they are not apologetic for the hold time and quickly want to transfer you to another department based on issue.

When they transfer you, you are again on hold for an acceptable period of time... hoping you hang up. I have a few times. PRACTICES: When logging in and either purchasing or renewing you will eventually need to check out (with credit card). On that screen you will notice (if careful) that Godaddy will automatically select time periods, add-on and options that you may have not agreed to... hoping you hit the finish button and therefore charged (you need to uncheck a lot of stuff).

More recently when I renewed, I made sure that I scaled back all of that before checking out. When clicking the finish button to be charged, It did not go through so I hastefully did it again and received confirmation. The next day I checked my bank accounts and was charged TWICE. Called Godaddy on Saturday and was told by an unpleasant associate that "Unfortunately they can't return the money without canceling the domains". I need the domains and therefore gave the person my opinion. In addition to this, I phoned in the first time and was hung up on as the associate said he could not hear me. This has happened before. To sum things up: I believe they are doing this purposely hoping the customer steps in the trap so to speak. I experienced their customer service going down prior to this issue as well. I will be transferring my domains to another Registrar. However, Godaddy has me locked in for two years now. This must be reported.

I have 16 pages of inane email correspondence, including inert answers from the CEO's office, all to no avail. I have been forced to relinquish my attempts to fix their online errors & loophole verifications as a result of this month-long debacle.

As early as this am, I received yet another absurd emails: Support Staff Response "Unfortunately the picture is not clear somethings can be read others. It is too blurry to see what it says. Please reply with a clear picture of your ID for us to proceed. Thanks, Customer Service." I have submitted countless verified documents, have been a client since 2005, & still cannot obtain a coherent or effective answer from Godaddy. It is odd, as well, that with the BBB, there are also listed as "Blue Razor"... What are they hiding from? They used to be an innovative company providing excellent service. They are now just a tasteless too-large enterprise, with well-paid CEOs who do not bother to engage, either with illiterate & evidently underpaid staff, company protocols that actually function, or the clients that provided their gilded salaries.

I have paid through 2020, & now, after a month of receiving the same stupid emails repeatedly, will set up a new website elsewhere, & publicize everywhere I can, that Godaddy/Blue Razor is a disreputable ripoff, who has grown so large that they now believe they are untouchable. Seems to be a lot of that going on in America these days. No honor, ethics, efficiency, pride, or the ability to simply provide what was paid for. Fyi - if you need a copy of the 16 pages of emails, just let me know. I plan to publish them anyway. Jo-anna **

Desired Resolution: Desired Outcome: Godaddy should not only apologize, but fix the loophole in the 2-step verification/refund the totality of my domain name & hosting, submit a fair number in reimbursement for the time, effort & business contact & revenue I have lost as a result of their oblivious ineptitude, & assure publicly & personally, that this will never again happen to another client.

In an attempt to renew my .tv domain on the GoDaddy website I ended up losing it! I’ve ‘owned’ my domain name for over 16 years, so I have some experience with renewing it, this however is the first time using GoDaddy as my registrar. Is GoDaddy’s website fit for purpose? Somehow over a period of an hour or two I was able to pay for my yearly renewal 7 times without my knowledge. Each attempt to pay was met with a blank page except for the GoDaddy logo. Each time I waited to see if a confirmation page would open, each time I went to my customer area to check the domain status and each time I checked my email. On the 8th attempt to pay I was informed the payment was successful. My customer area reflected this one year extension so did the follow up email shortly followed by another seven.

GoDaddy seems to be of the opinion that I deliberately and knowingly, went through the procedure of selecting one year registration from the drop-down menu and then going through the purchasing procedure using two different cards for payment eight times! If their website had informed me I had successfully renewed the domain why would I do that?

Even if it had been my fault for buying the same thing 8 times, it should be irrelevant, it shouldn’t be a problem, ask for a refund for 7 payments within the short refund window and GoDaddy have a happy customer. But no, they are only able to refund all 8 payments but not 7 AND they have to cancel my domain registration, which means I no longer ‘own’ it and it will go up for auction. When I asked why my domain would have to be deleted they blamed Verisign, saying it wasn't possible because they had already registered the domain for eight years with Verisign.

I have since contacted Verisign and I quote “if there was a true technical error, there are means for a registrar such as GoDaddy to request a correction.” I have carefully read the DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION AGREEMENT, all 14,7776 words and 42 pages, nowhere does it mention Godaddy have the right to delete my domain before it even expires because GoDaddy have overcharged the registrant due to a malfunction in their website.

My domain name was just a bit of a luxury but in some way I had become attached to it, my whole family use it only for email, nothing mission critical; it’s not even losing the domain I mind so much, it is just the way I feel it has been forced out of my control by GoDaddy. So faced with a choice of feeding my kids for a month or losing my domain I didn’t have much of a choice. Needless to say I will not be using GoDaddy again.

I was so excited about starting my new business. I’m an entrepreneur and because of the wide advertising campaign Godaddy runs all year. I mistook them for a reputable company. Boy was I wrong. I actually believe that their 48-hour return policy is an outright scam. I was told there was a site-wide issue with their plugins. I had to delete my website 10 times. I called over 15 times during a 3 day period. As I write this issue is still not resolved. Ironically this happened on the second day of hosting at which point I was told it’s a site-wide issue and that I should wait it out exactly 48 hours. Mind you and I can provide screenshots.

Upon calling about my first issue I was harassed and had $1300 worth of products placed in my basket to pay for the next day. This is all within 24 hours of signing up. The guy tried running my card several times by lowering the cost even though I told him I have to approve all purchases with my bank beforehand when it’s over $300. So he was supposed to call me back at 1 pm but instead called me back at 3 pm. By which time their plugins started to give me issues. I ignored over approximately 15 calls from their sales agent to the point I blocked their number. I haven’t gotten good service since. The last call they suggested I delete the site for a 10th time and then tell me it’s past the 48 hours to get a refund. What a disgusting practice. And I know anyone that has a 48-hour return policy has placed a life cycle of 24 hours on the product. I paid for two sites and can’t even get one through the building stage because of this inferior service.

They will mess up all of your projects and you would have to start from scratch.

I contacted GoDaddy stating I was getting a Ajax error. Little did I know that it would take four days to determine the issue. I followed the steps to resolve the issue. Updated all plugins and themes, problem not solved. Stripped all plugins except one, problem not resolved. Every time I moved the developer site to the production site Ajax error occurred. GoDaddy stated it was a DNS issue. GoDaddy then told me it was a firewall issue and that needed to whitelist my IP. It is not a good fix, because my IP is dynamic.

After contacting Gravity Forms they said there is no IP to whitelist, because the Ajax error is coming from the Admin-Ajax.php. GoDaddy is stating that it is a permissions issue on the wpadmin folder had only root permissions, causing the Ajax error, permissions reset no more Ajax error. Now getting Error updating plugin Gravity Forms, Firewall blocking update, 502 Error. Disabled firewall, went back to WPAdmin, now getting 500 error. Removed firewall. Still getting 500 error. GoDaddy states they do not know what is causing the issue, only to say everything is good on their side.

Every time I call hosting support at GoDaddy, it is like riding a roller coaster, there are people there that are minimalists and state that the server is fine and I have no problem, and that it is a coding issue. I spoke to a supervisor, and he was not helpful and was not sorry to see me leave after being a customer for 20 years. 18 million customers and they just do not care anymore.

Today I was lectured to by "Claudia" at Godadddy's so called Customer Service that because haven't updated my Word Press website from Godaddy in four months I will have pay $53 to be able to mount a new blog. As logging in monthly is not in their Terms of Service Agreement. I asked why I wasn't told it was a "Term of Service". Claudia actually explained to me that buying hosting from them is like buying paint from Home Depot. They can't tell you in advance whether you will need paint thinner or turpentine or a paintbrush. Huh? I finally decided to pay up and if it goes well in 72 hours I will be able to post a blog. To be sure, however, she wanted me to hire their creative department.

She said that I don't need any set up and it'll be done automatic so there will be no extra cost for me to pay the web guy, I liked the idea and bought it right away.

I've been checking since then and it did not happen so I called again today and found out from Abbas that it needs to be set up and if I need the automatic one I have to pay $199, I asked to speak to supervisor and she told me that they are sorry and they'll talk to the person who initially sold and offered me that the auto SSL certificate is $250 and she can discount this service by 20% and the total cost to me would be $200. Updated on 10/23/2018: Just this morning I received an e-mail from Bluehost that my domain name is still not transferred. I think GoDaddy's behavior is not only incompetent, it is downright criminal. Do not even think of dealing with this company; you will be sorry.

Updated on 10/15/2018: I jumped through all the hoops I was required to and contacted Bluehost, who put through the domain transfer request. GODADDY REJECTED IT in an email that literally made no sense, other than to seem to say that they didn't want to do it. I am livid! They told me I didn't remove the privacy (I already did) and then I would get another EPP code and have to call Bluehost and start the process again. If these people are so incompetent how do they even stay in business?

Original Review: First, they sold me two different products that did the same thing. I found that out from a subsequent salesperson. So I got a refund. Then, another salesperson told me something different than the first two had said. The site is incredibly difficult to use. I decided to go with Bluehost and spent 1 1/2 hours today just trying to get my domain name transferred to Bluehost. I don't think the chat person could even see the screens they were sending me to, which didn't say what the chat person said they would. I received an email that said one of my products was canceled; the chat person said it was registration that was canceled. So why can't I believe the e-mail? I'm so glad I am going with Bluehost, whose techs really know what they are talking about. If I could leave no stars, I would. Don't even start with these people; it will be a nightmare if you ever want to leave it. I wish I hadn't.

I have purchased numerous domain names from Godaddy over the years. The ongoing problem they continue to have is their automatic renewal system. The last domain I registered, once again as I now always do, I had to track down how NOT to have my registration automatically renewed to ensure I wouldn't get hit with charges I didn't want. They do not make it easy. It's not an 'opt out' or 'opt in' option when you sign up.

You have to physically hunt for it and I am sure there is a reason for that... Extra fraudulent income for them! So imagine my surprise when without any warning, and knowing I did not request my domain name to be renewed, they stole $19.99 from my account! Talking to them is a joke. Even with my account number, the transaction ID, the transaction number... If I didn't have my long lost code to get in, I was out of luck. They are rip off artists to the nth degree, and I would avoid them like the plague if you don't want nonsense charges being zapped out of your bank without any way to prove you opted out.

I have been in the IT field since 1984, and have used several hosting companies over the past several years, but GoDaddy is the worst I have ever subscribed to! I had paid for a domain and email account on Oct. 3rd, 2017. I had surgery and that didn't go very well and I spent several months in ICU in a coma. Keep in mind I paid for one year upfront. After getting out of the hospital, I received an email from them that my services are due for renewal. I called them to advise that I thought this was not due till October. 3rd. I advised them that I'm on a government disability that pays me once a month and even though my account is up for renewal... (They claim)... I can't pay till October. 3rd. I went into a little detail about being out of work etc. even though that shouldn't matter since I'm already paid up till October.

They said, "That's ok just call us back when you can pay for renewal." Well I thought ok that's great, good customer service. Well was I WRONG!!! I got slammed with dozens of harassing and threatening emails telling me that they want their money plus another $80 - if I want to recover my accounts. Next thing I find out is that the emails are being held back and not being delivered to me. I had multiple emails from FEMA regarding the recent natural disasters among other emails. I called them several times over the past week about the emails they kept sending to my Gmail account and they claim there's no problem just pay for it when I get paid.

Finally I can't even log into the GoDaddy payment website so I call them today and now they say your domain fee is past due, but your email is still working, but since you didn't pay for your domain they are blocking all emails. Remember, I paid for this for a year in advance last October and it's not due till this October. Today is Saturday Sept. 22nd 2018. They began blocking my emails this past week, and prior to that they were delaying all emails for more than a day even though the payments are not even due till next month. All I can say is, this shows very unprofessional tactics and rotten customer service. If you are thinking of using them for anything, you're better off using two tin cans and a string for your communications because you'll have better luck and a lot less headaches.

I could write a novel here about the tricks they pulled on me when I first signed up to use their domains and email services such as trying to push me into having them add thousands of dollars in web design, search engine listing, upgraded services for much higher fees, and I swear they must employ felons and con-men because the tactics they use are almost criminal. Here's a bit of advice from a guy that has several other accounts through other companies, all of which are still working... Before going down the same dark road with GoDaddy: "Caveat Emptor" which is Latin for let the buyer beware, meaning the buyer assumes the risk in a transaction.
