I was considering WellCare Value Script for Medicare part D coverage. I called ahead of signup in order to ensure that my Tier 5 drug would be covered. It was listed in their formulary and initial agent told me yes it would be covered, but might need prior approval. I asked to speak to customer service about prior approval as I have been on the drug for more than 4 years. CS agent totally gave me the runaround. Tried to tell me it was not in their formulary. A lie. Then said they couldn’t submit anything for prior approval until I was member. Then told me they could, but not until Dec 2 and that the process would take 5-10 mins. Then told me it would instead take 72 hrs. Then mentioned all the hoops I would “be able to” jump through if they denied it.

Next admitted that yes they could deny it period and refuse to cover it period. When questioned by me who would make coverage determination and how someone who does not know my medical history could possibly make a determination better than my own doctor, she assured me that WellCare reviewer was qualified to do that. Long story short, stay far away from this company. Even if I did not have a chronic (but common) health condition, I would not trust this company.

Trying to get through to customer service, using the phone number supplied on the paperwork is non existent... An hour of circling around, hearing Spanish and starting all over again... Both my wife and I have spent several hours each week for 2 weeks... no luck getting through. The paperwork says I did not have drug coverage in the past... I am disabled with 50 percent VA, medically retired since 2013, have Tricare for Life, both of these are on the papers they sent, yet my wife and I will be fined for no drug coverage... the Wellcare Mutual of Omaha Advantage plan is the only plan available in the state, and the county we currently live in...

The customer service is so horrible. I am new to the plan. I am already having issues. I had a RX plan since 2018 with no lapse in coverage. They are saying I had one. I have filled out forms and called several times. I am placed on hold and have to repeat myself over and over for a fax number to send the letter in. It's unreal.

I recently discovered that I have paid several thousands of dollars that should have because Wellcare failed to provide accurate information. When I first signed up, no one informed me that Wellcare had preferred pharmacies. Two years ago, I called Wellcare to discuss my plan and complained that I did not see any benefit from the premiums that I was paying. The agent told me I might consider a more expensive plan but did not inform me that I would save by using one of their preferred pharmacies. I found out from a very knowable agent from a different company. I am now paying almost nothing in premiums and considerably less for prescriptions. This is a totally incompetent company.

I had trouble getting my insulin to the point that I ran out. They wouldn't tell me what brands they covered only that what I had previously wasn't covered. I had to research things to figure out what brands they would cover and it took 2 weeks after that to convince them that a diabetic person needs insulin at all! Then another several days to wait for their review process before they denied me AGAIN because even though I had the right brand, I didn't have the right delivery method of it that they would cover.

They didn't tell me this when they denied me. I had to call customer service half a dozen more times before I got somebody who knew enough to tell me that. After I got that, I had to get my doctor to send another letter explaining that the insulin was the same, just in a newer pen delivery package and that it would help before they said they never got the letter and I had to ask my doctor's assistant to send another letter while I had somebody on the phone watching the fax machine. It was an incredibly horrible experience and I just got notice that starting in 2025 they will no longer accept that insulin pen, so now I have to either change insurance or go through the whole process of figuring out what they will accept all over again to be certain I'll be able to have access to insulin.

Previously, I had Wellcare by Fidelis. Now, I have Wellcare. I thought they were the same. Apparently, there's a huge difference. One of my doctors does not accept Wellcare, and the others complain of slow payments. Also, looking for a specialist, I called the list Wellcare provided and their offices tell me they do not accept Wellcare. Wellcare was extremely slow in approving diabetic meds and "durable goods". Trying to speak with Customer Service about the status was useless: they cannot explain where the process stands or likely outcomes. Also could not tell which doctors were in network: they referred me to the online list which was incorrect. Their Spendable card is also a huge disappointment. Their website gives unclear status. I have not tried in store, as it is not clear to me how to determine covered items.

My prescription of almost 20 years requires preauthorization and a 7 day, then no 30 day can be written. This got me red-flagged at the pharmacy. Then it would have cost about 110% more than rx.com (50 vs. @$114). Now my provider did not file - guessing they would not wait 6 mos. to get paid. That got me my first Past Due notice this year. My credit score is north of 800 with no late payment ever. So far they paid $92 lab fee for all of 2024. The policy looks good on paper. Good luck getting reimbursement. It was so bad that I started to use the Kroger Pharmacy without insurance instead of Wellcare --- and my prescription medicines at Kroger were half the price that Wellcare was charging me! After complaining to Medicare regarding the high cost of Wellcare, Medicare agreed to move me out of Wellcare 6 months ago and transferred me to a Humana plan with Centerwell Pharmacy. The prescription drugs are about 85% less than what I was paying at Wellcare. For example, I have to take this drug ** for hepatic encephalopathy, Wellcare charged me $49 for 3 months of **; Kroger charged me $25 for 3 months of **; and Humana Centerwell Pharmacy charges me $6 for 6 months of **!.

Medicare 2024 open enrollment season is upon us and I am happy to switch from Wellcare. It has not been a pleasant experience. Last year I switched from traditional medicare and called wellcare on a recommendation from a friend. Big mistake. I told them I did not want a plan with an extra monthly premium no matter how small. Agent told me that they had a plan called "Low premium" that normally is $9 per month, but because of the extra help I received, I would not be required to pay it (even though mymedicare listed the $9 premium).

In January, I received a payment coupon book. The agent obviously lied. Next came the calls and seemingly endless mailings urging me to make an appointment with my doctors and trying to get me to agree to a "a free in home evaluation" with the promise of a $100 gift card. Even after explaining to them that I follow my doctor's recommendations on when to be seen and that I was not interested in anyone coming to my home, for something I did not need, regardless of the $100 "incentive" the calls and mailings persisted at least monthly. This month (October) I again got the "free home evaluation" call, and I had had enough. I let them have it and told them exactly what I am typing here.

"Between the paper mailings (and there were a lot of them), paying people to call me constantly and needlessly, and offering up $100 gift cards, Wellcare wastes taxpayer funding and contributes to the ever rising costs of American healthcare, and these are definitely not things I can support." The caller attempted to persist, but I interrupted stating that I would be dropping wellcare if I received one more call like this. It was then that I was finally told I would be taken off the call list.

Three days later I received the wellcare annual notice of change for 2025. The $9 premium (that I was never supposed to be paying in the first place) would be more than doubling to $20 starting Jan 1st. Needless to say, I logged onto MyMedicare and dropped wellcare for 2025. Final Note: When shown this plan on the Medicare website, we are presented with the following; Caution - This plan has received low ratings from Medicare for at least three years in a row.

Do not sign up with this company, even if you're presently healthy; I am disabled and am unable to get access to the most basic services; it's taking me literally days of waiting on hold with Customer Service and being shuttled from department to department in order to get removed from their rolls.

I transitioned to Medicare on 9/1 after retiring. I did a lot of research beforehand and selected WellCare PDP for Part D. On 9/27 I attempted to refill 2 scripts - ** & **. The pharmacist told me he was getting an error that he had never seen before and advised me to call WellCare. I called WellCare on 10/1, they told me coverage for the scripts was denied because the MD who ordered them did not participate w/ Medicare/WellCare. I asked why this was a problem since I was not asking for any of the MDs' services to be covered, but simply for my meds to be covered & they advised me it was simply their rule.

I told them I understood, and would be happy to get a new primary care MD who is affiliated with Medicare/WellCare moving forward to prescribe my medications, but that I only had three days' worth of my medications left and would not be able to find and schedule an appointment with a new MD in that time. WellCare offered no solution other than for me to pay out of pocket which I cannot afford. When I asked if they could allow a 1x override and grant me a partial supply to allow me time to get a new MD, Katarina said “What's the point, the medication will still be denied after that”. I was shocked by how insensitive she was - I told her “the point” was to maintain my health while I got established with a new MD. Katarina continued to lack understanding.

I ultimately asked to speak to someone else, Katarina said they would “just tell you the same thing”, to which I told her I wanted to speak to someone about my experience and her crass attitude. Katarina said okay, and then strategically connected me to the “Community Connect” line, which is a third party that helps patients find resources to assist w/ drug costs - Katarina knew this was not what I was looking for and intentionally connected me to a different line so her actions would not be reported. I am disgusted by this experience and will be running out of my meds by the end of the week.

I signed up with this company because of all of the benefits it had. Such as meals for certain medical conditions. It had silver and fit, which is an exercise program for elderly people so you can attend a gym. I got the plan with the Dental program, that was a joke. I called 38 dentists in nine different cities, I live in Tennessee. I contacted the insurance company. I contacted the Dental provider. It took four months of me calling dentist after dentist after dentist in my area.

I thought they were hoping for the year to end so they wouldn’t have to find a dentist for me. Supposedly after my insurance company calling numerous dentists, my insurance company WellCare finally got a hold of Dentaquest (this was an upgrade from the previous dental company. They used the previous year). The insurance provider finally found a dentist that would take me, mind you I just wanted to get my teeth cleaned. Which turned out was not really a dentist. They were a denture clinic. None of dentists would take this insurance. Not even Aspen Dental.

After I found the denture clinic, my first experience was horrible. It was a clinic that had been shut down for over a year, the dentist, the dental technician and the receptionist. It was all their first day on the day of my appointment. The dental chair was broken, they had to find a small blanket to put behind my head because the headrest didn’t work. They did not have running water in the room I was in. The tech was cleaning my teeth and only cleaned four of my teeth because he was talking to the dental assistant and asking questions and I think just lost track of what he was doing. He did do the fluoride treatment lol.

I was supposed to get free meals once a week through the end of the year after the first week, they told me the program had been discontinued. Also, I was entitled to silver and fit, which is a gym service they offer at local gyms in my area that was another joke on me. They Discontinued that program as well. It’s now just about time to renew insurance at the end of the year which somehow miraculously they reinstall all of those features they continued Since it is now, almost October, they now have silver and fit again and they are offering “mom‘s meals food service.” Joke, they just offer all of these things to draw people in and as soon as you are a member, they cancel all the services. If you call the insurance company, they have an automated phone answering service, which asks you to verify your name, your address, your phone number, and your identification number.

The human comes on the phone they ask you to verify your name, your address, your phone number, your identification number again. Just so happened to need a different department, which is always the case you will again be asked to verify your name, your address, your phone number and your identification number. In order to reach the department that you want you're normally on the phone for at least 10 to 12 minutes because each person that answers the phone says. ”Please stay on the line for 3 to 5 minutes while I get someone to assist you.” 99% of the time you cannot understand the person you’re speaking to either they have a terrible accent or their phone is so horrible. I’m assuming because they’re calling out of their house and or out of the country that you can’t get a clear phone conversation.

    Updated review: Oct. 9, 2024

Finally after some time my plan D was continued and corrected adequately as it should be. After receiving letter of it being cancelled it was reinstated to original form. I still stand by my original statement of other regarded issue due to lack of follow through with representative prior to any consent from me.

    Original Review: Sept. 4, 2024

I was contacted by phone with a representative from this company explaining how much I’m missing out on without having this Advantage Plan. After a long discussion with him I explained why I don’t have an advantage plan due to my illness and all cap offs of inpatient hospitalization. "Let me just CHECK to see if you’re eligible," and he then proceeds to ask me questions to entail my current Medicare info and so forth. All while doing this while on the phone with him, mind you…No time to read anything as he just directs you to click here and check this and so on. Then he finishes the call with, "It’ll take a few days to see if you’re eligible to get these extra free added spending," due to my already having an existing acct with them for my prescription ONLY. THIS WAS MISLEADING AND FRAUDULENT.

After never hearing back from this person I get a welcome voicemail from WellCare, I call back right away only to be told I’m approved and enrolled in their Advantage Plan. It took me 2 days and over 8 hours on the phone to explain and report what transpired. After doing so regardless of the fraudulent misinformation from the representative that contacted me they still let the contract run telling me I would have to disenroll. After further attempts in my reports to explain that I NEVER should’ve been enrolled, I never approved it and I asked them to pull the recorded conversation between the obvious “sales representative“ and listen to the despicable misrepresentation of the content of my conversation. That went nowhere.

My only choice was to disenroll and yes it will have an impact on my current original Medicare plan that I expressed to the representative that contacted me in the beginning I am NOT looking for an advantage plan, I can’t afford it, I don’t want any cap offs and over and over it was explained that this was only an added benefit and no out of pocket fees. THIS WAS NOT TRUE. There were difficulties in speech and understanding multiple people I had to experience speaking with as they didn’t speak English only at a minimum, me being American I found this to be exceedingly difficult and stressful. I did enrolled and made sure that my presentation plan wouldn’t be affected. I was assured that everything would remain the same with that…. IT DID NOT. It was cancelled as well.

I highly DO NOT Recommend WellCare as my experience was the WORST EVER, and no issue has been resolved. Do your research and if they contact you as they did me and everything sounds too good to be true it is. I have cancer and this will affect me for my medicine. Please do your research and don’t fall victim to them “talking a big game“. I can assure you from experience just a few weeks ago there are better options than WellCare.

My wife passed away on June 16, 2024, I notified Wellcare prescription drug plan that my wife was deceased in June, but they still deducted a payment for that month was told Social Security would notified them of death. July another deduction, I called and was told that they would stop deduction. I Called again in August, was told that I needed to fill out a form stating that I was executor of the estate. The only money that would come back to me is the unauthorized payments they stole from my account.

I saw the plan, the more unauthorized money they could steal from my account the more they could put in their pockets. August was the first time Wellcare demanded an executor form, my supplemental insurance did not require this. Each time I talked to Wellcare the more excuses they came up with. I had to close my bank account to keep them from stealing more money. Social Security has already paid the Death benefit, it amazes me that a government agency is faster than welfare. This is one of the worst that I have ever dealt with (stay away from these people)

I have numerous examples of failed state of Wellcare Health Plans for my patients and my patients. One of the very frustrating ones are excessive delay for providing approval/support for services as simple as imaging. The worst part of their provider relationship is lack of ANY responsive individual and no actual provider relations. I have made numerous attempts ad nauseum. For hospitalized patients, after submission of nearly all demanded records, they again asked for all records. I resubmitted them. They corresponded it was NOT "legible". At my own cost, I resubmitted (mailed with tracking number), then they told me it passed the submission deadline.

I believe this scam must stop. It is systematically directed towards younger practices such as myself. I am very disappointed however due to the area I serve and the fact that many patients sadly fell for the false promises and now they are regretting it, I am bound with nothing but accepting massive losses unfairly and illegally enforced upon my practice, by Wellcare (nearly 15% of my patient cohort). Hence, damn if I do, damn if I don't. I felt it would be good to share my patients' overall tragic experiences with this plan to continue advocating for them. In addition, to also (hopefully) raise my voice as a very vulnerable independent practice on how these actions can negatively impact a community. I pray for some resolution or improvement of these unhealthy and unjust pattern.

DON'T RISK YOUR LIFE!!!! *These words are my personal opinion, based on LOTS of horrible experiences and all statements can be verified with collected evidence**. This company is GARBAGE. I spent 28 hours on hold in the last three weeks because, (after approving my prescription in January) they decided to deny it in May, and not tell myself, my doctor, or my pharmacy. It took 3 weeks for me to find out what was going on and it's NARCOLEPSY medication.

The customer service agents don't know anything, they don't communicate with each other, they can't even tell me why I missed a robo-call saying I needed to call the company back. I'm done. I'm switching. RUN AWAY. If you need life saving medications or treatments, don't use this plan.. for Medical or Prescription. It's not worth risking your life and having them conveniently forget to send you denials or not telling you that they just randomly stopped covering your medication, weeks after it was due to be refilled. The customer service agents also lied about which doctors would be covered and I'm desperately trying to switch insurance because I'm disabled and in the middle of treatment. IMO, this is the worst insurance company, in Michigan, that I've dealt with, in my entire life.

On top of all this, it's nearly impossible to get someone from the United States on the phone. I'm really good with accents, I understand that overseas labor is less expensive, but it's really difficult when the representative isn't fluent in English and can't understand what I'm trying to ask. I've worked with a lot of different company's international reps before but Wellcare's are so bad it hurts. My doctor tried to get a hold of someone and kept getting tossed to other reps who knew nothing and none, not even in the Pharmacy Services department, could understand that I couldn't be on the alternate medications they demanded I try, instead the one I've been on for 3 years. I hate this company. They'll try and persuade you to join with a fitness plan, OTC coverage, transportation to doctors... don't... just don't do it ... It's 100% not worth it, in my opinion.

PT started having trouble getting approval & payments. I saw the billing first hand. I would pay my $25 copay. PT would bill Wellcare & it would get denied: bill again & get denied: bill again & Wellcare would pay $35 on a $250 charge. $250 - $25 - $35 = $195 PT was losing each visit. The second time I was sent to PT, they informed me they no longer accepted Wellcare. So, a month or so later I was scheduled for a CT scan of my back. I paid my $250 copay, had the scan with a "Preferred provider" & again the claim was denied. When I called Wellcare they said I was not referred ???? & it was not a "Preferred provider" This last week I got a $2000 + bill from the hospital for the scan.

I am now with Aetna Ins. My daughter & husband are also on Wellcare. Even some processed claims never result in an EOB. Phone service is 2/3 bad - 1/3 of the time you can't be located in the system and 1/3 of the time you have a poor English speaker (or both). Medicare coverage can't get here soon enough! Stay away from WellCare!

I expect to be able to refill it in 90 days but guess what - no they will not let me refill it for 92 days unless I call and spend an hour on the phone with customer service. So every 90 days they cheat you out of 2 pills. That is not so bad unless it something that you really need to take every day. This makes no sense to me but I guess with enough customers they can save a lot of money shorting people a few pill here and there.

I had the my doctor's ma come out and we exchanged fax numbers etc. Now they say, "they didn't get the approval" but I already picked up the medication, so how did they not receive the pre-approval?

Then I was told it was $11.50 on the phone. I let my SHIBA rep know, and they found me a different company. I recommend changing. Funny thing, the med is indeed $4.50 with the other company. I agree with the other reviewers who say that this company's representatives lie to Members. I will also point out that in my experience with them, they "stonewall" in an attempt to make a Member "give up and go away." It's hard to tell whether the stonewalling is an intended practice, or whether it's their use of people who are not given the authority or have the ability to do anything other than "check a box." My experience is that you need to repeat things over and over before they understand (or pretend to understand) the issue. If you have an issue that doesn't fit EXACTLY into one of their "pre-proscribed" scenarios, you just simply can not get anything done.

The frustration level of dealing with them is compounded by the fact that they apparently have no one manning their phones who has English as their native language. It is almost impossible to determine what they are saying. I need to ask them over and over to repeat what they said. New PDP plan at the next open enrollment.

I signed up with Wellcare RX because they had a Part D plan that had zero premiums, and zero payout. I only have one prescription medicine at this point that costs me less than $20 for a 90-day supply. I needed to enroll in Part D, and this plan seemed like a great solution, since I could change it at open enrollment if I needed to. I have worked for the same employer for 17 years. I was a state college employee with great medical benefits - including prescriptions. I received a letter from Wellcare stating that, according to Medicare, I did not have qualifying prescription coverage and that I needed to pay a late enrollment fee and start paying a little over $10 per month for the coverage. I contacted Medicare and they said they showed my prior coverage did qualify, and they had no idea where Wellcare got their information. I have spent hours on the phone (4 different calls), and at the end of each one was told it was resolved.

Today I received a text asking when would be a good time to call me. They called, and then I was put on hold and eventually talked to someone asking why I had called THEM! I corrected them. Then the representative went into a spiel about how I was behind on my monthly payment. I informed her that I did not owe them anything, and once they actually looked at my records, said they could see I was disputing my "late enrollment" and fee. I believe they are hoping I will just give up and start paying them the $10 per month. But that is not what I signed up for. Beware of going with this plan.

It is impossible to get WellCare on the phone to discuss a member’s need. You call a number, then are switched to another dept, then another, until the call is finally disconnected by WellCare. And none of them can answer the initial question, which is usually a very simple question. The coverage is dismal-most high performing agencies are not in network with them. Getting decent medical supplies for members is impossible as WellCare rarely covers anything beneficial. Please look around before signing up with WellCare.

With WellCare medication insurance nine times out of 10 they will deny you your medication. It has to go to a review. You must fit their criteria to get your medication approved. Nine times out of 10 they will not approve your medication not even **. Just to be advised if you are a senior citizen and you have Medicare you're allowed to change your plan anytime of the year. So please take a note of that I've only had them since January and every single medication I am on has been denied, declined because I don't fit the criteria.

Every single medication you have must be reviewed over and over again and to make it worse when you call customer service they take a note, you get to a supervisor and the supervisor does nothing but shouts about rules and regulations and what's even more pathetic Medicare already pays for my medication that has been prescribed but they will not cover it so I'm assuming what they're doing is they're taking the money from Medicare keeping it for themselves. Not to mention they have you going through a melon pharmacy and bouncing back to your doctor blaming everybody else but themselves. So if I was you stay away. Don't even think about it. Having to pay $15 a month is worth your sanity instead of the $4 a month it's not worth it. My health is declined since I've had I've had this insurance for my medication.

It's nothing but a headache. Makes you angry, frustrated, whatever else and I found out a neighbor down the street. Apparently he needs insulin and they denied him his insulin. He is now in the hospital. So this company is not for us. It's only about themselves and nothing for their patients. It continues and continues and continues so if I was you I'd run, run as fast as you can. But remember if you're on Medicare pharmacy plan you can switch your plan anytime you want. We have had nothing but problems getting our prescriptions. Common sense is out the door. My wife recently changed her diabetes medicine to **. Her doctor sent in the prescription to our local pharmacy. This was filled no problem. Then that was for 30 days to make sure she tolerated it. A new prescription was written by the doctor at the end of November for 90 days and sent to Express Scripts. About 5 days go by and she gets an email indicating the prescription was denied. Then had to call and find out why, they said she needed prior approval. We explained that she had already received one months and did need authorization that time.

After 1.5 hours on customer service they provided a authorization form to have the doctor fill out. That was done in one day, no more communication from Well Care/ES. She logs on and finds that it is still denied. Now it is 4 days until she needs her next injection, nobody would tell her what exactly needs to happen to get her meds on time. She tells them we need it expedited to get to her on time. This call was 1.5 hours.

Now the day she needs it she logs on to well care and sees it is approved but express scripts does not show it shipped. Well now it is Saturday 2 days past when she needed it and nothing. Another call to well care and first they said it was not approved, and after some checking they said it was approved but they have not received a new prescription from the doctor. We have no idea what they are talking about a prescription started this whole process and now they need another! So it is Saturday and the doctor will not be available until Monday and who knows how long it will take to get to us

She called it in and they told me at my preferred pharmacy that my co pay was $120... After many many calls they say I need a prior authorization for this.... OMG... Even with prior my co pay is $54...they said I could get a different cream that does the same...for no co pay....

Upon more outrageous phone calls I find out that the cream my doc prescribed is a generic already...but on Wellcare the generic is a tier 4 ...so the high co pay... I called my old provider(Aetna) and my co pay would be $5.00 no pre authorization.... I rarely take the time to review companies but BEWARE of this one... Had I realized any of this I would never have switched... I can't wait for this year to pass because you cannot change mid year until open enrollment with Medicare.... Seems that Medicare should read the negative reviews and take this company out of their program.... BAD BAD BAD.

They call you up, WellCare Representatives, selling you a bill of goods that they have found extra benefits for you to have on your regular classic plan, and when in fact they do not and, they change your classic plan to a PPD and then you end up paying more money when you go to a doctor.

I went for a 15 minute cleaning of my ear and they tried to charge me $500 from that system plan from PPD. I had argued with them for hours trying to get back on my regular classic plan but unfortunately what I was told was a lie, that I did not actually get back on to my classic plan and the reason why I kept the appointment . I was told I did otherwise I would've canceled the appointment until back onto the classic in January when the new plan for prescriptions and everything else was available. Anybody else has had this problem we should get together and have a class action suit against WellCare the health insurance system.

Again my example was as I was called and was offered to get cards that were available that would only be an added benefit to my classic plan and so upon acceptance of that word which I have all of the phone conversations that I recorded. They end up changing your plan it costs you money more money when you go to the doctors. Prior to this I paid no out-of-pocket expenses 71 years old and a flim-flammed me.

Scam artists. Absolutely unbelievable what I have gone through my first year with Wellcare. They have me on the Dual Liberty (HMO D-SNP) H3561-009-000 plan. It included great benefits at first.. Let me rephrase that.. It sounded really good in the first year. One benefit it included was the Healthy Food Wallet. This benefit is a total joke. I never got to use it, the whole year. They lie and say you can spend it in store, online, or order over the phone. If you try to use it in store it won't work. You have to first be at an eligible store, then the fun begins. Good luck trying to find the brand name of the milk that's covered or whatever you pick out. Prepare to be embarrassed at the checkstand. Because your purchase will be declined. You have to locate the items that are covered under the benefit.

The card you use for the purchase isn't a regular debit or credit card. It some antiquated membership card that you have to swipe without a PIN #. You can't insert it. It can only be swiped. It never works. I also get to get gas on the new Spendables card, which now has a Visa logo. Doesn't matter.. It doesn't work! You can only swipe the card at the pump, not inside at the cashier. Gas stations don't have swiping at the pump, only the insert option. Since you can't use the card inside at the cashier, it's useless. Oh, you also have to go to a eligible gas station. Just stupid stuff designed so that you can't use the benefit.

My second year that started today was worse than my first year. Brand new Spendables card that was supposed to start working Jan.1, 2024. Didn't work anywhere. Ended up running out of gas and ran my battery down, just trying to put gas in my car. I see they try to make it so difficult to use, that you give up trying. They taped me stealing away benefits from your second year. Every review on Consumer Affairs for Wellcare, got 1 star, the lowest rating you can give. They don't deserve a 1!.

First of all their website is broken so I can't add my account or pay my premium. Secondly their customer service is in some faraway land and every time I call them I get disconnected before they can do anything for me. Based on my short experience with them and all the negative reviews here, I'm cancelling my policy as quick as I can and finding a quality plan and company based in and whose customer service is in the US.

Wellcare used to be GOOD. Now they are the worst. Their customer support is useless, from some third world country, completely unintelligible, and gives wrong information. That should be enough for you to move on to another provider, but here is more. Their Website CAN NOT BE SEARCHED. It is a waste to try to log in. You get a convoluted number of pages that try to sign you up to additional insurance, followed by the first login screen. Don't try to contact a chat, it doesn't exist, and sends you back to the buy more insurance screen. It gets even better. Call support to get the price of a tier 3 prescription, you get a lowball $30 copay. After 3 months all of a sudden you are being billed more than $400. Choose a different provider.

In 07/2023, WellCare stop providing transportation for medical appointments. My appointments are crucial to my recovery because I couldn’t drive and family members used their available time to take me. I’ve escalated through WellCare with no success and no return calls. Then I filed a complaints with Medicare that trigger a call from WellCare just to say they contacted me. In the meantime, I’ve missed over a dozen appointments and physical therapy sessions. Due to WellCare non action, my health and quality of life suffers with limited mobility. WellCare uses enrollment time to lure Medicare recipients to their plan. Once the recipient enrolls, they’ll have to wait until the next year to change. Therefore, if they evaluate their member’s needs during plan year, additional transportation service should be provided. It’s now October 10, 2023, without a resolution and missing life-threatening appointments.

They don't care at all. This company is the reason for half a year of my pain and suffering. It took me months of being referred by them to doctors that don't take their insurance. Calling doctor offices and even setting appointments and waiting months to be told they don't take my insurance to finally find one in my area (Tampa, FL). This behavior caused a class action suit in many states but IT'S STILL happening. THEN they denied coverage of a medically necessary medication that I was taking before moving and getting their insurance.

I was told that they needed to know that I have taken other cheaper drugs before they could cover the one I was on which I had taken one by one over the last 11 years of having my condition. I complained only to have someone call and tell me again they couldn't help me. I spent weeks and weeks getting ALL of that history from multiple doctors over the years to my current doctor only to file an appeal another month later that was AGAIN denied.

On one of the cheaper medications I had terrible side effects including something called a brain zaps similar to mini seizures for 3 months after discontinuing its use. They didn't call my current doctor or look into it AT ALL. They just denied it! Now it's been half a year. I have all over aches and pain, brain fog, stomach issues, exhaustion, anxiety, and now depression. If you are thinking about getting this insurance RUN AWAY. I even put in grievances for this, telling the grievance counselors that being elderly and disabled, being forced to handle and discard these huge boxes was a liability to my health and wellbeing. While I can relate many other poor business practices, the well documented experience my family had with WellCare involves their contractual promise to provide dental care when an in-network provider is not available in the area where service is needed such as a root canal by an endodontist.

Services by an endodontist were sought after the regular in-network dental provider recommended a root canal, a service the WellCare in-network provider did not provide. After many hours and days, while suffering pain and inconvenience, an endodontist service provider in the Ocala, FL area could not be found through WellCare's member services. It was later determined that none of the endodontists or dentists in the Ocala area accept any health insurance for root canal services. WellCare represents in their Ocala, FL provider directory that they have many providers but when called, not any really accept WellCare dental insurance and state they have asked to be removed from the directory but to no vail. No WellCare in-network local Medicare provider could be found for a timely root canal on a molar tooth.

When in significant pain, one does not want to drive a great distance especially when the service is questionable at best. WellCare will list many healthcare and dental providers in their provider directories but call some of them and see if they really take WellCare insurance, especially dental insurance which many WellCare advantage plans offer in the Ocala, FL area. WellCare indicates they have many providers, but the directories are not up-to-date or accurate. It was necessary due to much pain and suffering to have a root canal procedure by an Ocala, FL out of network endodontist at the out-of-pocket cost of $1,200. WellCare was asked for reimbursement per the advantage plan contract if an in-network dentist was not available in the Ocala, FL service area. WellCare has refused to answer the request and has refused to pay the $1,200 reimbursement per the WellCare advantage plan contract.

The WellCare advantage plan was cancelled due to this poor service and failure to honor the Evidence of Coverage contract. This situation or similar situations are occurring for senior citizens on Medicare advantage plans all across the county. WellCare should not be allowed to offer advantage plans and certainly should not be rated by Medicare at a three (3) star rating to induce senior citizens to sign up for WellCare advantage plans.

The CEO of WellCare, Sarah M. London, Chief Executive Officer, Centene Corporation at the above St Louis address, Medicare and others have been informed of WellCare's poor performance and they still offer Medicare Advantage Plans for 2023. Stay away from WellCare as a Medicare Advantage Plan provider. They appear to be the lowest cost advantage plan with many benefits in most markets in which they participate. Recommended Medicare Advantage Plans are United Health Care, Ascension, and Devoted if offered in the service area needed. Medicare should not approve WellCare to offer Medicare advantage plans for senior citizens on Medicare.

I have Power of Attorney for my father who is elderly, hard of hearing and has memory problems. I have submitted my Power of Attorney form to this company and have been able to speak with representatives on his behalf many times. Suddenly, however, when I had a real problem that they didn't seem to know how to help me with, they told me that they did not have my name on the Power of Attorney. I told them I was looking at the document and that both my father's name and my name were clearly stated on the top of the first page. They said they had the document on file but they didn't have it on file. I was then told they had "no department" which could help me with it.

This was not my first problem with this company. They failed to update my father's change of address after we both called numerous times which resulted in him losing his coverage. We attempted to change the address on their website only to find it had somehow been changed back later to the old address. I have been given wrong information from many customer service associates. I have also been given conflicting information. No one there seems to have any idea what they are doing or what they are saying. When I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, the supervisor was no better. On most calls with this company, I am disconnected numerous times, having to start all over again with a new representative when I call back. Today I spent literally two hours on the phone, a lot of that time on hold, and talked to about 5 different representatives.

In trying to get a situation resolved where they told me insurance coverage would start November 1st, I call to inquire about the status and was told coverage would not start until January 1st. The customer service representative, who had a very difficult time understanding me as it seems English is not his first language, insinuated that I was lying to him about the Power of Attorney. After being on hold about 40 minutes, the supervisor comes on and was as disinterested as any of the other representatives. He also was unwilling to help me. Unreliable, unprofessional, incompetent; that is the only way to describe this company. In the end, I was so frustrated I decided to switch to a different company. I have wasted far too much time trying to deal with them.

I was on the phone for 2 FULL HOURS just to help my client update her address post move and request her new Rx card be sent to her new address, completely simple request that should take 2 minutes, not 1 hour and 46 minutes.

My client and I were on the phone for 35 minutes, gave the rep her new address, requested a card be sent, and then we're told he updated the address and confirmed verbal permission that they can speak to me on her behalf as she is hard of hearing with other health conditions that would make it difficult for her to be on the phone fighting with Wellcare for 2 hours. He confirmed the request to send a new ID card to her new address and THEN said he doesn't handle that.

Transferred to THREE additional reps where no lie I had to verify her new address no more than 10 TIMES - I literally thought I was the twilight zone. My office mate heard the whole conversation and thought I was a broken record. They even made me call my client back and verify THE EXACT SAME information we did already in the first 30 minutes of this tortuous call. God forbid you have any actual problem AND how to they expect seniors with no support to go through this alone!? It's a nonsensical labyrinth. I got on Medicare because I got on Social Security Disability because of a chronic illness that I got back in 2013. Was approved for SSDI in 2016. I was around 57. I had previous Medicare Part D plans and for the most part no problems. I discovered Good Rx when the insurance wouldn't cover a drug. Before I got on Wellcare in 2020, I was thinking about not even getting on any drug plan, because most of my medicines have been on Good Rx for cheaper than the insurance. There was one very expense PPI for Gerd. The drug name is **. Silver Scripts approved it for a tier 2 or 3 and my portion was $20. It was the only PPI that worked on me.

Once all of the PPIs all had gotten generic approved then they couldn't cover ** under that tier because it was the only one not available on generic. So at the time my GI Dr got samples of ** to give me for over 5 years. The best GI Dr and staff. Recently they had to stop because ** was available in generic name is **. Here is the only time I really used it. Good Rx is always cheaper than Wellcare. I think there were 2 that I used with my insurance as they are on tier 1. First it wasn't on the formulary the generic but the brand ** was. So my Dr's Medical Assistant did prior denied because of all the other cheap PPI like **, ** and etc. So then the MA had to send in an appeal which was approved. Being on tier 4 would be subject to my Ded which was 480.

So I called customer service at Wellcare. I use to get intelligent representatives, now I don't know if it's a language thing but it seems like they don't know what they are doing. I am very patient with them because I believe they try to help me but the Insurance is one of my worst experiences with any company that I've dealt with in a while. I finally got that my Dr could request a tier exception. We got one approved for tier 2 but instead of the generic it was the brand. I didn't realized this at first but when Walgreens put in medication it was picking up the appeal because that was approved for the generic **.

The brand ** I thought would be approved. No. When my Dr's office called them they said the tier exception should of never been approved. They had denied it now because it's not on the formulary list. They already had the appeal approved. I have Gerd extremely bad and my Dr said I need this medicine or else something needs to be done. My recent EGD had 5 places on my esophagus that were suspect and my Dr did biopsies on 4/14/22. They showed a lot of erosion from my Gerd.

Anyone out there who really wants fair Rx coverage stay away from there. I mean the customer service really tried but unfortunately it's over their heads. I did get the tier level approved mailed to me. Seems like they should have to honor that. I wish I had of known that the generic ** would be covered. I tried to tell a story how this insurance did me but the customer service was really trying. Too bad they won't allow customers to talk to the people that are actually doing these different Auth. Thanks for this platform.

I reviewed Medicare replacement plans with my provider’s facility and the WellCare (HMO) plan seemed a good fit, just need referrals if I go out of network (recent telephone conversation was told a referral doesn’t matter and to call WellCare first). I am on a medication for anxiety (have been for years, never an issue in MA). My new Doctor in TN ordered blood work, some was performed in the facility lab but not the “extensive” drug testing my Doctor demanded, stating it is a requirement here because of the huge drug problem. This testing was sent to an outside lab. Needless to say I received a large bill from the lab. This has been an extremely frustrating and stressful situation, after many calls to find out why I am receiving a bill.

I spoke to WellCare several times, and a supervisor 2 weeks ago, have yet to receive a return call. I was never told this test would be sent out and after 30+ years of medical billing and have never heard of a Doctor/facility informing patients when they send out blood work for specific tests nor is a patient obligated to ask what blood tests go where and is the laboratory in network!!! This is just another ploy/scam/deceptive for WellCare not to pay a claim in full!! I have needed CT scan for lung cancer, mammogram, etc. and putting these off because now wondering if they will be denied because the radiologist is out of network, wouldn’t surprise me. Their customer service representatives have English as a second language. Hence hard to understand and hard to speak to them. Next issue is the cost of drugs are higher than the Medicare website.

Finally, one of my generic drugs is a tier 3. The cost is $42 a month. However, if I go to my local pharmacy which is a preferred pharmacy and not present my card, I pay $17.50 a month. A big difference. When I brought this up as a grievance, I received a letter describing it as a tier 3 and I should understand the costs. Their management team is totally out of touch, does not return phone calls as promised, and could care less about their customers.

I applied for their Medicare Part D ValueScript plan in November and was advised I was enrolled in the ValuePlus plan. I called to advise them that was incorrect and I wanted to enroll in ValueScript, not ValuePlus, and was told they would change it. In December I received an email stating Medicare had approved my enrollment in ValuePlus and $69 per month would be deducted from my Social Security. I called again and was told I had cancelled my enrollment and it was too late to enroll in any plan.

When I demanded to speak to an agent located in the U.S. I was told he would fix the problem. It wasn’t, and over the next month I contacted them to no avail a total of 7 times and spoke to 15 different agents in their offshore and U.S. offices. They continually informed me that I had cancelled out of both the ValueScript and the ValuePlus plans and that I’d missed the Medicare Part D deadline. I finally filed complaints with Medicare and my state Insurance Commission. Only then did I get resolution from Wellcare and enrolled in ValueScript. Since then I’ve had to re-register my newly created online account. They claimed I hadn’t used it in two years and cancelled it.

Today I got a letter that they had received information that my address had changed to an area that was not in the service area of the plan I was enrolled in. Unless I could confirm my permanent residence address, I will be disenrolled. I had to call them again to clarify that I have not changed address and live at the same place for the last 14 years. Called again on a prescription drug charge and still could not get an adequate answer. I am going to switch to another company. No one in their corp. office available to help.

We've been with Wellcare for almost 2 months and can say without hesitation that they are the worst insurance experience we have ever had. Chat, website, phone reps have no ability to get anything done except refer us to someone else who still can't do anything. Save your sanity and get another insurer.

I have only been a customer for 45 days and they rejected my first prescription! 5 years ago, after being tested for low testosterone, my physician ordered testosterone gel, which I have used successfully for FIVE YEARS. Over this time my previous 2 pharmacy companies honored my doctor's subscription and paid a small amount towards my refills.

Today, Wellcare refused this on the grounds they - Wellcare - don't think it is "clinically necessary"! Necessary? Really? Wellcare hasn't even contacted the subscribing doctor to know ANYTHING! This is all according to the representative I called, and spoke with. After I ask for a supervisor I was on hold for 15 mins. This nonsense has taken up 45 minutes of my time! Next year I will commit to another company. This isn't the type of company I wish to partner with for my health care and wellness.

I was put on hold multiple times. Had to explain myself multiple times. The first person I could barely understand and the phone kept cutting in and out due to poor reception. The customer service was in the Philippines so due to poor English and reception I asked for someone from the states and the guy kept asking questions after I told him multiple times the phone call reception was bad, he puts me on hold for a good 15 minutes then I get someone with good English so I figured it must be a guy from the states, well the guy was useless as tits on a bull and gave me the run around only to connect me back to a woman with not good English neither from the Philippines. The woman kept putting me on hold and telling me one more minute over and over saying she was getting me approved for a refill of lousy antibiotic ointment ** 2%.

A hour later after her time and time again putting me on hold leading me to believe she'll get the ** approved. They think the medicine is a months supply but what I got on Jan 22nd was only 1.6 oz that would only last two weeks if you're lucky. I was told the prescription got rejected. WellCare is a pathetic heartless uncaring company that could care less about people that are sick and need medicine to clear their ailment. I have a staph infection under my armpits and now I have to go without medicine for two days. Medicare has pathetic wellcare insurance co handling part d prescription coverage which is a joke.

It is hard to stay focused on your problem when you know you are talking to a wall. I have had at least 3 or 4 contacts which were never resolved. The language is difficult, although polite, the reps don’t have a clue. Put on hold for at least 25-30 minutes - no answers or explanation. Calls always get cut off. I am looking for basic answers not instructions on building a rocket. Their low premium is NOT worth it. Will not keep them next year unless they clean up their act. It’s been 2 years & I can’t set up an online account for my spouse…gave up on that one. Now I just want explanation of coverage and can’t get that either. Thanks for the sounding board but how can we get resolution?

Health care insurance agent advised WellCare Part D Medicare would cover all my medications for 2022. They are all cheap generic medications but they all have a copay. Now at least one is denied. I filed prior authorization and denied. Told to fill-out paperwork to appeal denial. I have called them repeatedly which is a total waste of time because the customer service workers do not understand and/or speak much English. Today I filed a grievance. I am stuck with this Medicare Part D insurance for one full year 2022.

Been a Wellcare customer since Nov 2020. Now retired the plan they provided in 2021 worked great. Oct 2021 I got an email stating my plan will change in 2022 and be on the look out for a second email outlining the changes. This year has been a fixed income person's worse nightmare. Costs have skyrocketed and the folks at Welcare have been of little or no help. It's too late for me to change providers and Medicare doesn't feel that my case warrants special conditions and so I am stuck...my bad. Live and burn.

I joined the WellCare drug plan in late November and have been attempting to contact them ever since with questions regarding my plan. Made numerous phone calls, put on hold for hours and then call dropped. Tried the virtual "Online" customer support which is actually non existant. Notice came up I was 1 minute away from service and then it went to 3 minutes and on and on...Never did get any service! Wellcare has absolutely no customer service. They take your money and it's over as far as any communication. I paid a whole year in advance, never got a receipt and it shows I owe for next month. I am very disappointed and would not recommend.

Horrible Customer Service. So I have to go through the same thing again tomorrow.

Like other reviewers, would leave no stars if I could. The phrase "customer service" is an oxymoron... there is NO service. Be prepared to spend hours on the phone waiting for a live person; when you finally get to a person be prepared to spend much of it on hold; be prepared to chat with someone who speaks poor English, doesn't care and/or understand what your problem is, and does nothing to solve it. If you have the stamina to make more than one phone call, be prepared to go through your story in it's entirety again...and again.

Their drug coverage is a joke. Many drugs can be obtained far cheaper from GoodRx...in which case, why are we required to have Medicare drug coverage??! I could essentially parrot many other reviews and it would apply to my experience. Better to pay any amount for other coverage than to deal with this company. They surely must have an idea of how terrible their service is because they will not make contact information for their board members and officers available....and for what it's worth, I usually don't bother writing bad reviews----but this company has been so exceptional (in a bad way) that I feel morally bound to warn people away. Take heed!!!

I renewed my Part D (prescription) supplemental insurance with WellCare for 2022. When I signed up I was told that a generic med I've been taking would CONTINUE as a covered, Tier 1 med. Now, when filling an Rx for that same drug, WellCare tells me it's a Tier 4 UNcovered med. Another med I've been taking for a long time has changed from Tier 1 to Tier 2 so that now I'm expected to pay more. All this in the time between signing up during open enrollment & filling my first Rx in 2022. Classic bait & switch fraud.

Also... trying to speak with a customer service rep is an absolute nightmare. Extremely long hold-times only to finally speak with someone in another country with an accent so strong I can't understand them. I learned to ask for a rep in the US, but twice now I held for over 15 minutes before connecting with someone I could understand BUT who then put me on perma-hold: I literally sat here for half an hour (with absolutely no sound on the other end) to finally realize that the US "rep" had abandoned me. I actually wrote to top-tier WellCare managers about this & received no response. My husband & I definitely will NOT choose WellCare ever again.

I just tried to sign up for the CVS program and I am not shown in their system as a member. I did reach out to the CVS site and verified I am not listed as a member. Insurance coverage is important when you need it... So far I have had to go to Urgent Care- at least they are available.

My premiums jumped over 150% this year and was told by their representative that a letter was sent informing us of the increase. I do remember seeing the letter telling of an increase but unless it was in the small print I never saw a number like 150% increase. I now pay 69 dollars a month for a prescription that is less than 13 dollars every 90 days. The retail price I learned is 1/3 the price of my premium. I would not recommend this company and as soon as I can will be dropping them and under no circumstances will I ever use them again.

Too bad 0 stars is not an option. I've used their Part D plan for 3 years; for 2022 they unilaterally decided to change my name. Over 2 hours of on-line chat: "Sorry, can't help, call the Customer Service number" (although she did state that my account is not in the "new" name even though the new ID card). 90 min on hold on the Customer Service line - "sorry, can't help, I'll escalate to my supervisor". Supervisor never answered. 2 submissions to Contact Us - "sorry, call the Customer Service number". This will be the last year I use them. Although I have few prescription meds (and not enough to meet the deductible), their rates are low - a great example of getting what you (don't) pay for.

Benefits that they offer for me are over the counter health products, that are specifically named in a catalog. Also a $50/month grocery benefit which also restricts products and are to be delivered from somewhere (unknown at this time). However information seems to change according to the agents spoken to. I was transferred to the concierge department and was on hold for 3 hours and 27 minutes without anyone answering my call ... The recording was saying the agents were helping other members (yeah right) and I could press "1" for a call back by the next day? Nothing happened when I pressed "1"!!

The customer service number on the WellCare website takes you to an operator who then transfers you to the department you need. This might be OK if the operator answered quickly (they don't, 15+ minutes on hold just for the operator), or if the operator transfers you to the correct department, or if you didn't have to wait an additional 30 minutes on hold to get to a person. Annoying automated systems are better than being on hold for 2 hours and still not being sent to the correct department. TLDR - Pick a different company, this one sucks.

I called WellCare to find out why my pharmacy charged me the wrong amount ($74.80 instead of $4.30) for drugs covered by a WellCare PDP. My pharmacy (HEB) said I had to call WellCare because WellCare had to make some changes in the database before the pharmacy could correct the charge. I suppose that many other WellCare PDP customers are trying to contact WellCare with like problems.
