I’m very dissatisfied with UNITED HEALTHCARE as I have been a member since 2021 as a senior citizen under the Advantage plan. More recently, they have gouged their co-pay amounts to out of proportion. And as a senior citizen cost is of the essence. I disenrolled my plan and went to another carrier effective January this year... However, while I was still under the enrollment with UNITED HEALTHCARE in November, I was given a house-called visit which was told after that visit I would be a given an amount of $75 that could be used through the member I.d card that could be used to make certain purchases at specific locations.

I noticed the member ID card which is referred to as a U card did not have a strip on the back so that it could be used to make purchases. When I brought this to the agent’s attention, she said, just swipe it that it would work. Well, it didn’t. I called and complained and was told that says January 1. I was no longer with UNITED HEALTHCARE that they would not honor the $75 amount that was promised before the transition had been made to the new plan. So needless to say, I am completely dissatisfied, which is why I decided to change medical carriers to begin with. And this situation just adds to it. I would not recommend UNITED HEALTHCARE as they have also received negative feedback in the media. Very poor Customer Service. So my review would actually be a negative -10.

Valeria, the representative I spoke with, was very rude and hung up on me after we talked for about two hours. I wasn't finished discussing my issue, and I felt it was incredibly unprofessional for her to end the call so abruptly. As a result, my request for quality service was denied due to my high blood pressure. I told Valeria that I did not have any problem with high pressure and asked her to call my doctor about my high blood pressure, but then Valeria hung up on me so quickly. That is so rude. It hurts me so badly terrible. I called customer support again and filed a complaint. A supervisor will be calling me back soon.

I explained that I would need my prescriptions refilled at the beginning of January. She set me up with a Doctor to be my primary. No problem until I try to make an appointment in December. No call back until January 2 letting me know he was not taking patients. Tried 6 times to get a primary doctor before March and they are sorry they can’t help me. They do Not Care.

The UCard benefits when I first signed up was $50 dollars a month. I only got to work a few times. Now it’s $40 a month and doesn’t work. I get the runaround on the phone. My representative will not return my emails. The last person that I talked to on the phone was asked what happens to my $40 dollars a month that I don’t get to use. He told me it disappears. I figured it was going in someone’s pocket then I find out United Healthcare CEO is making almost $8 million a year. To me it’s pretty obvious where that money goes.

I have had multiple claims denied. Example of one pre authorization and paperwork was done to replace my prosthetic leg. They approved it. I had asked them if I could have the prosthetic made closer to me instead of driving over a hour one way that would require multiple trips. They agreed. We discussed where I would go. They resubmitted paperwork and UHC denied the claim. I also have wound care on my other foot. They declined wound care supply s after they had been paying for those for the last year.

When you call their customer service they will tell you different things as to what’s covered and what’s not. In other words same conversation upon a callback each one has different results over multiple calls. Beware of the their responses as they change daily. I’ve had multiple issues seems like one after the other. But yet they will call you and tell you what care they think you need! I have had issues with them trying to have cataract surgery over dental cleanings, etc. PEOPLE BEWARE.

I have just received my new card UHC card for 2025. I tried to use the My Healthy Benefits option to purchase OTC products in an approved store. Well, the card was declined and the reason was the transaction was considered invalid. I called to speak to an advocate. I was told to wait until Monday to call back. I pay for this insurance every month. The product scanner on their website doesn't work either. Also, I used to purchase two things online and now they are not available. One was an eye vitamin and the other was a mouth moisturizer. That was what I went to the store for today and my card would not work. The eye vitamins aren't even covered anymore. I'm so frustrated. It's so wrong the way seniors are treated....big Pharma. I'll be changing insurance companies next year....wish I had done it this year. They also deny many insurance claims. I still have an outstanding one from my primary care doctor from eight months ago. I'll never pay it!

Optum substituted non generic drugs for the generic prescription my Dr sent them. Optum sent an email saying they needed my approval and had a link. That link showed non generic drugs and a copay showing TBD after they have shipped to me, then stated they will bill my credit card on file after they determine the copay, after I order. I went to their chat box and was told my copay would be $2000 for the non generic drugs and 0$ for the generic. I called a person and was told my dr sent in non generic, which was a lie because my DR carbon copied me the order. This company is a scam trying to get money from senior citizens who don't read every word on the page... Optum should be prosecuted for falsifying Dr.'s prescriptions. What a bunch of criminals that wasted 3 hrs of my day. The one star rating is generous since there is no option for 0.

I've had United Healthcare for three years. It was a great plan until September 2024. At that time, United Healthcare hired Optum to be a third party to deny services. In my case, I need ongoing physical therapy because a health condition. My providers have attempted to get prior approvals, which was not required before September, but have had a horrible time wading through the process. I have had a horrendous time trying to get medically necessary care.

I have contacted United Healthcare advocates, the majority are very wonderful - and yes, I have heard the stories of the recordings of advocates hanging up and laughing for people asking for help. I have appealed and have denials overturned - and yes, it is a battle of attrition, as only 10% of people will appeal the first denial, I've had to do multiple appeals to get a denial overturned.

And now, I not only have to appeal with United Healthcare, going through their medical board, having denial overturned, then the information is not communicated to Optum, but on the slimmest of chances - and I mean really slim chance, then the prior authorization is denied by Optum's medical board or possibly AI. The link is broken. How many medical providers, how many appeals? $60 BILLION in profits last year - really? Sicker quicker? $60 BILLION PROFIT LAST YEAR?

Just started new UHC insurance 1/25. They did send the card before starting date nice but the benefit app won’t even open & their website will not let me log in. Spent hours on phone trying speak to an agent because my benefit card was not accepted to pay my electric phone nor gasoline plus the card has a different exoneration date than what uhc told me and neither worked on auto machine to pay bills.

So far I got 2 agents speaking foreign language and was very hard to understand then one hours of being redirected trying speak to a person. She took my info to pay my electric bill but said it take 10 days which is later than bill's due date. I was given no help to get into website that was Supposed to work after the first time I had problems and it is not working again so I was told I need no expectation date from my card to pay bills and yet my phone asks for it. If not I can’t pay bill then I was told to wait 2 hours for their activating process to begin on card and then maybe a next business day as it was New Year’s Day but my Aetna card worked on holidays and paid for gasoline but so far just got new uhc card and I have absolutely no access on app nor website and no one takes my card numbers or exp. date as shown on card. All I get is endless hours of calling uhc and get machines instead and hour waits for call back.

A person finally answers, redirects and then disconnected or given no help or a foreigner who can’t speak English for info no help whatsoever. What good is benefits if you can’t use them? Or even access thru website? I see I made a mistake switching to their insurance. I was promised hundred dollars more and now no the new card is useless and declined everywhere and I’m spending out of pocket with bills due in 3 days. At least with Aetna I could use the app to shop and pay my bills with cards exoneration date on card. UHC card got a exp. date on card that is not accepted and I was given no date to use and told I don’t need it - unreal and Aetna dropped my benefits down by hundred dollars with first year so that’s why I chose uhc. I hope the card starts to work because I got high bills and need access to my benefits which I am not getting. Sorry I switched ins. already.

They closed the clinic 2.8 miles away and assigned me to one 16 miles away. It was only open one day a week. I have a hip that is causing me a level 7-8 pain. The pain clinic ordered an MRI and it was denied by a 3rd party called Evicore. I never received the notification of denial. I fought with United Health, Wellmed and Evicore for two months over all this and was told the MRI was not and would not be approved.

I have been to the local hospital 3 times with this. I was told the last time I went that I would be classified as a "frequent flyer" meaning I was there for the drugs. My primary care physician said this was a common practice since the Opioid Pandemic. It all comes down to this: I get to live with the severe level of pain that is debilitating because UHC, Wellmed or whomever this company is will not cover the MRI. I have reached the end of the pain meds and was told I could not have more because of their policies over pain meds.

Most of the time, it's not too bad, but this coming year, our premiums went up, the out of pocket is $12k for the family, and the list of providers they cover in our small town shrinks, forcing us to drive to other towns to get medical, vision, and dental necessary procedures. At this point, it is seriously cheaper to pay cash for everything than mention being covered by this company. Mind you, while families are struggling to make ends meet, this company has no qualms with raising rates, while providers are paid the least by this insurance company (verified with multiple providers and their office managers).

There are NO REFUNDS, so if you order from their catalog, they can send you ANYTHING, say they've fulfilled your purchase, give your precious OTC dollars (real money) to some scam, 3rd world junk provider, and not provide anything further.

I purchased a Back Brace for $27.00 and it arrived with Spanish writing all over it, saying "Made in China for Mexico". This was meant for a 3rd world country and was made under lower medical standards than the USA. It was made with very cheap velcro, which held it together, even the suspenders were velcro attached to the brace. When you walked around in it for 2 minutes it broke apart and fell on the floor. I never could get a refund. My complaint was denied and I was never able to speak to the claim representative assigned to my case. I file a complaint with Medicare.gov and nothing further was done. These people must have a warehouse of 3rd world junk that people are getting rich off of by embezzling and misappropriating our OTC Program funds. These people should be in PRISON!!!

After faxing the script they say, "OK. Great. We will start working on your medication." Something told me to give them a call the next day and while calling I’m asking them. Why can’t I see my order being processed. They proceeded to tell me that the medication that I had been trying to get them to fill for a whole week hasn’t been in stock for a while. So they knew I was trying to fill this medication. They even spoke to my doctor and said everything was good to go and then tell me only by me calling them that they don’t know when they’re going to be receiving the medication I need so immediately I switched back to my old insurance and my warning is don’t wait on your insurance company or their pharmacy partners to tell you something is wrong. My Federal Cobra coverage with United Health Care expired on June 30, 2024 and I transferred from Federal to California Cobra on July 1, 2024, again with United Health Care. The transition process was difficult because no one seemed to know anything about California Cobra. I immediately started paying my monthly fees. Despite this, in August 2024, my mammogram was cancelled because I "did not have medical insurance". I called United Health Care and, after a long call, got everything straightened out. The service representative said I was never denied service, which is incorrect. My mammogram was cancelled.

Then in November 2024, I tried to get a Covid vaccination. My pharmacy told me my pharmacy coverage had ended on June 30, 2024 and I would have to pay $200 for the vaccine. I called United Health Care and was bounced between United Health Care, Express Scripts, and Optum Rx. The United Health Care app said I had been switched to Optum Rx but the United Health Care representative said I was still with Express Scripts. United Health Care opened a ticket for me and said they would email me back. They did not.

I called them. First they told me everything was fine and I would be with Express Scripts. Then they told me that because of the law code, United Health Care would not cover my pharmacy needs because I was under California Cobra. They would only cover my medical needs, which apparently did not include pharmacy needs. I would have to find a plan with Express Scripts myself. So far I have tried Express Scripts and Optum Rx and have been unsuccessful. I will try again tomorrow.

I even sent them a screenshot of my call logs for the past three days and it's over five pages long with just United calling me. If my other reviews are still up you can see they cuss me out, calling me names and said they will continue to keep calling me. It got to the point I filed a police report because I have had my number for almost 50yrs. United Health does not care I'm being harassed.

They will not approve anything, but will tell You if you pay more monthly they might. They lie on the phone telling you how to navigate things, you waste weeks, your doctor jumps through every hoop, and they still decide they don’t care. This company should be ashamed of themselves. Updated on 06/09/2025: At this moment, I cannot begin to describe the feeling of disappointment that I have in United Healthcare’s “so called health insurance system.” I have been a member since 2011 that is the crazy thing about this situation. That was the first time I was diagnosed with cancer, renal to be exact. I lost a kidney and a rib. My life changed drastically, but I was told UHC was the premier insurance to follow my care, so I went w UHC. Unbeknownst to me I have Cowden’s Syndrome; which is basically “an inherited cancer gene,” that causes one to fall victim to an array of basically any other cancer, which I did.

Present day, I have had both breast and thyroid cancer surgery Summer 2024,then extensive radiation until 10/24 followed by radioactive iodine 12/01-12/01-12/24. All while have a complete hysterectomy w ovaries removed. UHC instructed me that they would provide me transportation as they did in 2024 and when and or if my rides were to run out, all I needed to was to apply for an extension as what was done in 2023. I did so from the dermatologist office when a biopsy was performed on my foot because of suspicious moles that were found. Now, I am denied because of trivial reasons.

The case manager from the cancer center has reached out to UHC to no avail. Now thanks to UHC’s blatant incompetence and inconsiderate treatment, I have been dropped from 2 of my primary established doctors. Dr. Hari ** and Dr. Robert **.. Why? Because I could not afford to pay $ 15 -$ 20 each way to get to the appointments!! So as of right now I no longer have a nephrologist or urologist thanks to the poor excuse for a insurance company. To think, I recommended not only my mother but my daughter to sign up for United and now the only thing my daughter says is “Really Ma??” Oh yeah, under normal circumstances one might think that I am being messy by airing out UHC’s pathetic customer service process, but I just called the 1-866-244-3123 trying to find out the status of my rides and the young lady left me on the phone for 23:17 minutes. That’s ridiculous by any standards.

Original Review: On November 24, 2024, I contacted the transportation line to schedule a ride to go and purchase items for a “diet restriction“ that I was to start per my endocrinologist; due to the fact, that I am a thyroid and breast cancer patient who just finished 38 rounds of radiation for my breast and will be starting “radioactive iodine“ treatment for my thyroid. Upon calling, the representative Deashia was very kind and polite. It was not until when my ride had to be signed by a “tier 2” representative it turned upside down. Apparently tier 2 was not available so the young lady went to a tier 3 manager, someone named Lisa. So this Lisa person decided that despite me needing this for medical reasons, I was not in a life or death position so she rudely refused. What?

Now, I am supposed to start this meal before I start the radiation because I am to have surgery a week afterwards. What was the purpose of approving my rides if you have morons playing GOD as to when a person is ill enough to be permitted to use their rides? I will be sure to let medicare know how terrible you treat cancer patients, and I guarantee that I will not recommend not another person to united, especially if you all can treat a person who has been with your company for as long as I have! Over a decade!!!

Under no circumstances will I ever use their services again, and I am telling my employer of these issues to discourage them from ever using your HSA services, or any others. All because it was so incredibly difficult to remove a phone number from my profile. The ID provider they use, "HealthSafe ID", redefines making something safe, by making it entirely unusable. I am a Caregiver for a Client that goes through UHC. It seems every time I call them on my behalf of my Client, there is always an issue of the Representatives don't seem to understand how important communication is. I'm only going to limit this review to the one complaint that drove me to posting this. I called UHC on behalf of my Client to update his Contact Information so they can communicate with him when I am not working (he got a new phone number). They had a Home Visit Appointment scheduled for my Client, but did not actually update his phone number to the correct one (which I told them to update while I made the appointment for him). So he missed the appointment because they didn't bother to do what I had requested which was to update his phone number so they can call him when they arrive. So the next day I come in, he says no one came for him.

I called UHC and I heard a lady in the background say "Tried calling, patient did not answer", and then they transferred me to a Survey and disconnected the call. The lady was extremely rude and could not seem to understand that I was a Caregiver and he was the Client, it took her about a minute for to comprehend it. Yes, she was a Caucasian English Speaker. If they had updated his phone number like I requested, there wouldn't have been any issues. I had to call back 3 times after calling them AGAIN to update his phone number just to make sure that they did their job.

You would think sitting in an Office all day would make it easy to update something as simple as a phone number, especially for THEIR Customer! After calling them the 4th time in one week, a Representative finally read back to me the correct phone number and I felt assured they actually did their job. On a side note, he is clearly a Male and is listed as a Male, but they keep calling him a Her.

If you are a Caregiver and constantly communicate with UHC on your Clients behalf, expect to be extremely irritated with Representatives who have a hard time doing something as simple as updating a phone number (making their Customer miss the appointment that THEY offered to make for him), or referring to the correct Pronoun. He is a Cis Male and never once has listed himself as a Female or Transgender. My patience runs immediately thin with this Company whenever I have to call them. I am one of the most patient individuals you will ever meet, however this Company gives me a run for my money. I would never waste my personal time to write a bad review if it wasn't true.

Did I also mention that every time they Authorize me to speak on my Client's behalf over the phone, they don't even always ask for the same information, or sometimes none at all. It's like they try to follow a system but they don't even know how. I can tell you that if this happened to me as a Customer of UHC, I would be making a formal complaint to the Company, and I would be a lot less civil. But since it happens at Work and it's not for my Account, I am not going to make a bigger deal out of it. They record the phone calls and I dearly hope they look back on them and re train their employees. My last concern is how irritated I sounded with them, because I'm an advocate and MY JOB is to make sure my Client is taken care of. They need to take better care of their Customers and do their job. It's really that simple.

This insurance is the worst I have ever purchased. I got it through the marketplace. Also, I have to say that the lady who provided me with this insurance recommended it like no other. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!! This insurance will NOT WORK ON YOUR BEHALF! They lied to me, starting from their chat customer services to the forms I had to send to claim overcharges from the provider I, unfortunately, chose based on my insurance services coverage.

I ended up that I have to pay for a service done over telehealth services, and was charged for an office visit, I sent the via USPS forms they said they would help me with this issue, but they kept saying I was correct, and it ended up calling the provider again after all the USPS sending calling this horrendous health insurance, etc., I did all I could to prove that I was correct, they ended up saying that there apply the correct code to it when at the beginning of this claim from myself they apply the incorrect code...

I am so upset about this!! They made me waste my time, I can't afford to pay the provider, but they forced me to do that EVEN WHEN I ASKED HOW MUCH would cost ME TO HIRE THEM, THEY $60 only FOR THE SERVICE!! NOW I HAVE TO PAY $ 380,52! I can't work, I have a disability. They knew that, THIS INSURANCE does not CARE!! My recommendation is do not accept this insurance!! It is the worst ever.

I had a United Healthcare plan through the marketplace for approximately 6 months before I got married, after which I got on a family plan also with United Healthcare. First of all, United Healthcare has separate departments for each of their categories of plans so that they can avoid responsibility for anything, or so it seems. They are quick to shift responsibility to one department, or to marketplace, or on to the client when it comes to obvious flaws in their business model. When I got on the family plan I decided to use the app to try to cancel the individual plan. Good luck with that. They don’t allow for that on the app of course. You have to call marketplace I found out after 3 months of being charged for both plans.

Anyway, I was able to cancel the direct payment, thinking that surely they would catch on to the obvious fact that they were providing me with redundant coverage. Surely, an international conglomerate with 50 million clients would have a safety net in their model for not unscrupulously taking advantage of the same people that they purport to help, many of whom are afflicted with desease including mental illnesses.

Ironically, they call that 3-month double-charging period a “grace” period. I don’t see the grace in double-charging a client for overlapping plans and having multiple ways to avoid any responsibility by, as I said, shifting the responsibility to all other entities including the client. When I realized that they had done this to me, I figured I would just call them and they would do what any reasonable business would do. They would simply remove the balance from my account, right?

Well, I spent a total of 6 hours during a 2-day period which involved conversations with a number of representatives, 2 supervisors, a call-back from billing, several arguments, a prick supervisor who placed all the blame on me, and the feeling of wanting to throw myself out of a window taking with me all the idiots I had spoken with. Even the surveys they had prompted me to take at the end of the conversations mysteriously didn’t happen. I wonder why? Customer service to them apparently means leaving the client feeling more anxious and desperate than before they called. They are not trained to de-escalate a situation it seems. All of them seemed to antagonize me to the point of driving me to yell.

If a “grace” period turns out to not be graceful to a client, why should that client have to pay for it? Why should I pay for grace that is intended for someone else?

Imagine if I book a burial for my mom who is near death, at the same time my brother books a cremation for her at the same funeral home? When my mom dies will they not refund for the cremation if we ultimately go with the burial, given of course that no other services were interfered with? Will they say that I need to be charged for the cremation, even though the service was not provided? I see it as a no-brainer.

$100 that is frivolously charged to one client is nothing. But how many of their 50 million clients are being conned? They chalk it up to client irresponsibility when it would be quite simple to work an alert into their automation to catch these apparent faults, instead of shifting the blame on to the client. I guess that looking for ethical, caring behavior from a corporate entity is just asking too much.

After 5 phone calls and speaking to people from other countries, who could barely communicate with English speaking people, they need retraining and an upgrade in their computer system.

Why can you not email forms to your members? Why is everything snail mail or fax? Why does it take 7-10 working days to get a form mailed out to your members to fill out a POA? Why does it take the representative 6-8 minutes to put you on hold to find answers to our questions? Never in my 21 years have I had such a horrible experience with getting answers. And I am not a Medicare member thank goodness. I feel sorry for those that have to deal with these people at medicare age. No way will I ever consent to UHC when I get that age. I recently ended a Term Health Insurance policy with UHC and wanted to share my experience. In 2021 I left my job to take care of an aging parent, I started a policy with UHC since they had been my policy provider through my employer. I had always been very satisfied with my interactions with them up until that point, so I thought they would be a good choice to continue providing insurance. I was mistaken.

I did sign up for a 'tri-term' policy. A three-year insurance plan which I was led to believe was my only option given my circumstances. When I received my insurance information, it was from a subsidiary company of UHC. When I contacted UHC about this, I was told the subsidiary company 'handled plans like mine'. My first bill Golden Rule (the subsidiary) was around $50 more than what I was quoted. When I asked about this, I was told this happen when your 'conditions' are reevaluated by their underwriters. At this point, I attempted to cancel my policy, to be told I could but, would pay for breaching the contract, since it was a short-term insurance plan. Knowing this I kept the plan.

Over the course of the three years, the premium increased on this plan. By the end, it had doubled. I was sent a letter stating it was due to end on 9/28 of this year. I spoke with a representative and informed them I had no intention of continuing any part of this plan. I was told it would lapse. Today I received a charge for the vision and gap coverage which was part of this coverage. I contacted the customer service department at UHC and asked why this had been charge, since all of this had lapsed on 9/28. The representative told me no cancellation had been received so their policy is to continue billing.

I will not post the entire frustrating conversation here. The basic part of it is the person I spoke to at their company did not do his job and cancel the policy correctly, so I was charged an extra month of insurance. When I asked for it to be refunded, I was told it would be pro-rated since we are 10 days into the month. The credit would come through in at 30 to 45 days. This company is horrible at customer service. They have sense of accountability. I'm sure the person I spoke with was following company policy, no offense to her, however, if this is how this company is going to treat customers, rethink your policies. I will never buy from this company again.

After receiving a letter that my appeal had been denied, and submitting a complaint in BBB, I received a letter that the denial had been reversed on one claim. A representative called me regarding the BBB complaint, and said she would submit the other claim denial for reversal also. They will pay the in-network amounts since he was listed on their site. It is unfortunate that I had to spend two months to get it resolved.

    Original Review: Oct. 9, 2024

UHC was supposed to cover 80% of in-network expenses on the plan I had. They paid about 10%. They said the dentist was out of network even though he is listed in their in-network directory. Then they allowed one x-ray for two procedures, and the allowable charges for the actual procedures wouldn't have been enough to cover the procedures twenty years ago. They denied my appeal I sent in twice, the second time on the request of the person I talked to on the phone after the first one. The dentist office sent in an appeal also. I sent a whole packet of documents verifying everything with a cover letter, and the second time they denied my appeal because they said I didn't "send in a narrative" explaining why I was appealing. I have since learned that they are the worst, with a claim denial rate of 32%, explaining why they made tens of billion in profits last year. I will never buy any insurance that is part of the United Healthcare Group again.

I am 60+ and have had United Health Care since my early 20's. I have had good providers and not so good providers; however, UHC has been a constant and well-serving insurance company until a few years ago. I started noticing a decline in covered healthcare and prescriptions when the patient portal was introduced. The portal often showed inaccurate information regarding in-network providers. They would list providers accepting patients who in fact were not accepting new patients. They would list providers who had moved to other areas of the country and not update the listing. They would cover some physicians in a group practice but not others.

Additionally, the patient portal also illuminated the billing issues. EOBs would show multiple attempts by providers to get paid for services provided. Yes, some were inaccurately coded, but other claims were denied for no apparent reason. I have seen charges billed by providers multiple times over many months without resolution or payment from UHC to the practice. This is not acceptable!!!

In the last year, two of my providers, both skilled, wonderful surgeons, dropped UHC due to difficulties getting paid by the company. One practice asked patients to advocate because they could not reach competent UHC management to resolve payment issues. The most that happened was that UHC changed one of my EOBs to indicate what I owed, but did not list any responsibility of UHC.

I recently receive a letter from UHC that indicated another of my doctors was no longer a provider covered by UHC. I had an appointment scheduled for the following week. I contacted the provider who assured me that they were still in-network and I should keep my appointment. When I called UHC, after the AI run-around, I spoke with a customer service representative who simply called the doctor's office to confirm their participation. No one could explain the letter from UHC. Regarding prescriptions, my doctors typically write prescriptions for a 3 months supply of medication. UHC will not allow 3 month prescriptions unless I go through their pharmacy which costs more. I will be dropping UHC when the benefits open season opens.

Finding a doctor is a nightmare with United Healthcare. Few providers want to work with them, it must mean they are an incompetent company. Their website is worthless. The doctors listed in network are remotely conveniently located near me geographically and I live in a big city. Then when you call the doctors they either aren't taking new patients at all even though UHC's website said they were or the appointment is for a year out. If you have a choice choose a competent insurer, NOT UnitedHealthCare.

UHC refused many of the tests that my provider recommended. These decisions are made by nonmedical professionals. I have recently signed up for my VA medical and everything they refused in the past was approved by the VA. In the process, there were many conditions diagnosed that with UHC would have remained undiagnosed. Since I began with the VA my quality of life has improved dramatically. Me or my family will ever take a plan with UHC ever again.

United Health Care has what they called tier one and tier 2 on the back of the card but when signing up, it’s never explained that you’re limited to doctors only in their network and now no longer. Can you go to out of network doctors? It’s very difficult to get a medical doctor that’s in their system and it’s not an updated system. I even looked up one doctor and he actually already retired a while back. Eye Doctor refer me to another pain specialist in the same building on the same fifth floor and they’re not part of United healthcare tier one but when my wife had signed up for Insurance last fall there was no clear thing.

This was supposed to be the best insurance plan available and I’ve had HSA plans that were more beneficial than this plan by United healthcare. Hopefully Bon Secour will take care of its employees and change to some kind of Blue Cross Blue Shield. I had United healthcare years ago and it was terrible compared to Blue Cross Blue Shield, stay away from United healthcare.

Horrible company that will do everything in their power to not pay providers who service their members! We refuse to treat anyone with United Healthcare and United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plans because they came back a year after we treated 2 of their patients and unrightfully took back over $4000 from our small business! They have their own inside auditing department that they call Optum Recovery. They give the Optum Recovery employees bonuses for taking hard earned money back from providers. Gary **, one of their employees is the most horrible person who will laugh as he tells you he is taking money back from you.

Don't give them access to your banking through automatic payments. They will steal the money from other patients you are treating! Every member I have spoke with has told me they cheat the members out of reimbursements as well and they are not at all happy with their service either. Tell everyone you know to BEWARE OF UNITED HEALTHCARE AND MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS through UHC.

I am insured with UHC through my employer. Doctors in my area are now not accepting UHC due to them being difficult to deal with. This has happened to me with multiple doctors. Funny I don’t hear about this with any other provider. I recently received a letter from a major university hospital in my state that as of November 1, if they do not agree on a contract, they will no longer accept UHC. I am currently going through cancer treatments at this hospital. I spoke with someone at UHC and was told they are sorry for my concerns. That does nothing to help my situation. The additional stress dealing with this on top of an already stressful situation is unbearable. They are the absolute worst.

I have to fight every single year for months (something that should take 2 days) to get the medication I need in order to eat food. In the past my medication was approved and now I have to jump through hoops to get it. No one calls me back - I leave a message every single day. They always blame the doctor's office - I even switched doctor offices and it is the same excuses -- the problem is United Health Care - no one else.

UHC tells me the soonest it could be addressed is 30-60 days because they are going through a computer upgrade which takes precedence. Their representatives are friendly but aren't helpful in resolving the issue at all. Asked to expedite the issue with UHC management but they never call you after being told they would. This computer glitch in my opinion is substantial. It seems in violation of HIPPA because I could seem claims tied to another account holder with a similar name before they removed my access. It also seems to be in violation of EDP audits and regulations surrounding access to customer account information.

I have paid and paid and paid and paid and now that I need serious treatment from my oncologist, I'm looking at $2,7000. UHC won't cover any portion because this absolutely insane deductible STILL hasn't been met. They argue they meet FL minimum value standards so my options are to cancel insurance and become self pay or pay full cost for a marketplace plan that is just as expensive with better coverage. However I am ineligible because of this better off dead plan. Choose any other company over UHC or Sunshine.

The primary care doctor they assigned me to was not close by and was also just beginning her practice and no one in office was trained how to process referrals correctly. Therefore I would spend weeks on end trying to call and get referrals processed. Just a nightmare.

This insurance provider is one of the worst I've ever experienced. I currently have an individual Medical plan with UHC in the state of GA and they have denied every single claim from my chiropractor since my plan started. After discussing this with multiple representatives they've determined it's an error on their end and UHC had to escalate the issue for review which I was told would take 45 business days. That time is exceeded already with no resolution.

I recently just signed up with a UHC dental plan and was immediately given an Error when trying to login to my new plan after application approval so I have no way of accessing my portal and when calling customer service I was given the run around with (4) different representative and given (3) different phone numbers to call none of which resulted in someone answering the line. Avoid this insurance company! Their representatives are entirely incompetent!

Do you know the cost of this wait to me? Do you know I needed the money to go for a surgery? I am so disappointed in this company. Visit summaries do not accurately reflect what took place during appt. Scripts not called in. Now I can not even get an appt. When I call, they tell me that “someone will call you back”. When I asked to have phone call "escalated" the rep told me she could not, given the nature of this call.? I asked her again to escalate my call. I am not waiting 30 days to have one claim at a time reprocessed for the same patient and tracking them. She then pretended to not be there. She would not answer me and this went on for a few minutes. I let her know I will be hanging up and calling back to report this behavior. I am so disappointed in the way insurance companies conduct business and train their employees. It is unacceptable. I would never pretend to not hear a patients and or help them with an issue, let alone hang up on them. This work ethic is sad and too common.
