Low rates, good coverage. I haven't had any claims so can't review on customer service or response times. Only on the sign up and rate quotes which were quick and very smooth. Rates are about half of previous coverage on Travelers for more coverage.

They are affordable, provide a variety of options and allow you to choose what you want as part of your plan rather than trying to sneak it in and charge for it. They also are empathetic. During the pandemic, they automatically provided me with a discount.

I'm not complaining about how they handle claims; I've never filed one. I'm complaining about the process of getting the policy renewed. Michigan had a law that required unlimited Personal Injury Protection. They recently amended the law, and Progressive sent me a form to fill out and return to select the level of coverage I wanted under the new law. They also wanted me to confirm, online, my level of Bodily Injury Liability. I did both. Then the circus began. I've had four conversations over the phone, after getting past their computer. They've changed things I never asked to change. They have been unable to find the forms, which I can see online, and I have directed them to them. They are unable to explain the coverages. They have problems with the English language itself, some of them.
They have now sent me a set of new duplicate forms asking me to fill them out yet again, and posted the blank forms and the ask on my Progressive page as well, so that anyone trying to find my already signed forms will have to dig deeper, which they show no signs of being able to do. ONE MORE interaction with them and I'm going to find someone else immediately and terminate my Progressive contract.

I personally have had a great experience with Progressive Insurance. They always have policies to fit any budget and the best discounts not to forget great customers service. They helped me during this Covid-19 pandemic by adding a extra discount on my policy to make it more affordable during these horrific time we all are, they are very helpful and caring.

I used to have Allstate insurance. I have more coverage for less money with Progressive. However, I did buy this policy through Costco so not sure if this is why there is such a discount. I haven't had an accident, so not sure how they would handle this.

Employees are very unknowledgeable regards to Automobile claims. I had Manuel R. And Peterson J to assist me with my claim, which I have to pay extra $. They did a terrible job. Progressive wants the payout to be pay, they should/need to double check the claim first before charging.

I've never had a claim (the truest test) but they beat any rate I've found by miles especially if you're a low mileage good driver & put their monitoring device on to prove it. And under the new Michigan laws my rate just dropped to about half.

I've been with Progressive for two years with four vehicles covered. My windshield was broken while parked. When I went to make a claim under comprehensive coverage I noticed that the deductible was $495. I had signed up for a $95 deductible just like I have on my other vehicles, one of which is an 18 year old Sentra that is rarely ever driven. So I called and they pretty much told me I was out of luck because I hadn't noticed the mistake before. I asked the agent if this is worth losing a customer over. He told me to, "Have a good day." Conversation over.

Progressive was very easy to work with when we had to get a damaged windshield replaced. Very expedient, great customer service, & price better than most. Also we love the discounts & were never offered these with our old insurance - MetLife - who we were with for 10yrs but never gave us the loyalty discounts that Progressive does!

Progressive I can say is just an average car insurance company. I haven’t noticed any great programs they offered me. Pricing is kind of high to average. Nothing spectacular to say about this company.

I'm not comfortable with Progressive outsourcing major insurances like houses... but the vehicle insurance itself seems to be a good deal, especially when you bundle more than one or home insurance, or when you suffer with environmental caused accidents. The discounts per time spent as customers are not very appealing, but the Snapshot program can help too.

When I explained to Progressive that health clubs are shut down again and I am waiting on unemployment they said they cannot help me and my policy will cancel. This is a pandemic not my fault. I have been shut down and laid off. Waiting on unemployment. Now I am losing my insurance?

I had some difficulty getting myself signed up on the website, so I called and the rep that helped me said I had everything almost done and there were just a few little details to go over. She made it so quick and easy so that I could make it to the tag agency before they closed for COVID. Also, I’ve already been rear-ended in the vehicle covered by Progressive and they have been fabulous about helping me with everything along the way.

Progressive is by far the best auto insurer we have had in the past 10 years. Rates quoted were the lowest of 5 insurers and actually are slightly lower each year over the past 3 years. Covid 19 discounts of 30% were applied to my monthly payments for 3 months. 5 stars to Progressive Insurance. No need to shop when you have the best.

I’ve had the worst experience with Progressive out of all the insurance companies. On 6/18, the other driver had ran a red light, did not slow down or swerve to avoid me, and rear ended me in the taillights, causing significant damage. Even though I was only hit in the taillights, there was so much damage that the battery in the back smashed into pieces. The cost to repair is over 10k; I’m also suffering from whiplash injuries. Her headlights were also not turned on on this rainy day. When I was at the intersection, I didn’t see anyone approaching at all. She came so fast and hit me in the taillights that I had no way of avoiding her. Yet, they only took her word that she “tried” to slow down and is therefore not at fault. We both have Progressive insurance, but she has minimum coverage, and I have a higher coverage with a high deductible (2k).
At first, they were going to toll my car to the junkyard and give me half the car's actual value on KBB. The car has very low mileage and in pristine condition. I had to fight with them to repair the car, which should not have been a debate. There were no witnesses or cameras. The police never bothered to examine the crash scene or ask for my narrative. I even waited several hours to collect my own evidence at the light, showing that when two or more cars wait there, it always turns to a left green arrow, and 5 cars pass on green while the other driver’s light remains red. I also looked up from attorneys website that in this scenario, the hit driver is at fault because she has not been paying attention or has been speeding. She also had an infant and a child, which could’ve been the distraction.
I have photos of the crash scene and rear passenger damages to my car. They told me they can’t use the video and that I can’t prove the speed, which I definitely can if I wanted to. For the claim, everyone (Jennifer **- other drivers adjuster, Tonecia **- supervisor, Ryan **- property damage, Tanisha **- personal injury protection) I’ve interacted with was extremely rude or lies. All they cared about was me signing the injury release form and never bother to explain much else. The adjuster and supervisor also gave different answers when asked the same questions about the claim. My multiple requests to have my own adjuster was ignored. I felt like I had no one to trust and did not have enough knowledge. Before signing, I was told the other driver was mostly at fault and pressured into signing the release form as soon as possible, giving up my rights. Afterwards, things turned 180, and I was put mostly at fault.
They have been ignoring me since I brought up disagreement with the decision on fault. I later found out through several attorneys that because the other driver has minimum coverage with Progressive insurance, and I have a high deductible (2k), Progressive will put the blame on me and limit their payout; they don’t care about clients’ interests at all. Throughout the process, I felt I had been treated unfairly and exploited by Progressive. I can’t believe this is what they do to keep profits.

PROGRESSIVE SCREWED THE SNOT OUT OF ME!!! I Got commercial insurance with progressive. DAYS later Progressive dropped me without telling me, kept my money for weeks and gave me ridiculous amount of runaround when I tried to find out why they dropped me. So I thought I was insured but I wasn't. I could not secure insurance elsewhere because they had my money and I still don't have an answer as to why they accepted me then less than a week later dropped me.
I would feel different if they had sent a letter that told me exactly why they changed their minds and provided me a grace period to find new coverage. Instead I got letter that told me that I had already been dropped. There was something on a DOT report that they didn't like from three years prior. The DOT website that civilians can use only goes back two years. I tried to get the three year old information from progressive and after dozen emails that went in a circle I gave up.

Have had Progressive Auto for five years now and six months ago had my first claim, had an at-fault accident. My premium was about the same every time and I had no issue with them increasing rates significantly over the last five years. I did price check prior to every renewal, but know I was overpaying a bit. The accident was minor but I took my vehicle to a body shop and they found hail damage that I never noticed or reported. With these two issues, it didn't make sense to repair the car so I cashed it out and bought a different vehicle. The premium did not go up after my accident (my fault) and I'm pretty happy with the streamlined online process. I did notice from the few calls with a claims adjuster that she had a lot on her plate; it took almost a month to get through the entire process. Overall I am happy with their service.

I bought a policy with Progressive after buying a car mainly just to get me through about a week until I could add the car to my commercial taxi policy. I have an airport taxi business so I pay huge money for this insurance. I decide to keep this progressive policy for 6 months because it was cheap and I figured it never hurt to have extra insurance. After my 6 months were up I never renewed and never signed any renewal but they sent me a bill for another 6 months. I sent email after email showing I already have insurance and will not be renewing with them. They put me in collections with Caine & Weiner and hurt my otherwise good credit rating.
I disputed with caine and wiener with documentation but it fell on deaf ears. I disputed with TransUnion and this stupid $240 charge is still on my report. Equifax did remove this so I rate them much higher than transunion. I refuse to pay out of principle and have decided my only recourse is to tell what a crooked company progressive is to the world on every review site I can find. Recently with covid 19 I cannot continuing my business because this bogus collection cost hurt my credit score to not qualify for a Small Business Association Covid loan which would have allowed me to stay in business.

I added Progressive to a seperate vehicle I own for just covering myself since I am the only driver of this work truck. The rate was good and I had no problems the first 6 months. One day a bill came in and it was double its normal amount. I called up Progressive and asked why it jumped so high? They told me that they learned my 20 year old son lived with me and they took it upon themselves to add him to my account. I told them both he and my wife we currently on a State Farm policy I also had, and that he did not need to be on my Progressive account, nor did I give permission for Progressive to do so. I cancelled the account which was in good standing (paid in full) and put the truck on my State Farm policy.
Now they are sending me a bill for $219.00 which they say I have to pay or they will send me to collections! I went through 3 customer service people who couldn't do anything for me except tell me to pay it. They conveniently hung up on me and I had to start the whole process over again. This last lady was helpful and once I show proof my son did indeed have coverage, they will wipe away the balance due. I am hoping this is the case and this nightmare is over. Had I looked at their reviews and seen a One and a Half stars review grade, I would of keep going and not even bothered with a quote. Cheaper in this case is not better!

Progressive Insurance is terrible! Was in 2 accidents that had no other insurance company involved. Accidents were over 6yrs apart. I was not treated like a human being in either accident. First accident was a hit an run but they said it was my fault, had to go to one of their headquarters to argue with my adjuster. I had to remove my pants so I could show them a bruise because they did not believe in some pre-existing damage inside my car. By the way that car was totaled. They cut me a check, at first, for way under the car's value. Did not even discuss what happen, just sent the check. Was not until I went up to an office to speak with a rude adjuster that I made my points and they gave me more money for the car. That is how you do business?
Second accident was with someone who had progressive as well. I LEARNED A LOT FROM THIS ONE! So if they do not have a 3rd party they can go after, they put the blame on you. How interesting. I paid my insurance every month but when it came time to use it I was left high and dry. Had to get a lawyer to help with an accident that was clearly the other drivers fault. Was driving on a public highway, at night, when other driver backed out for no reason and I hit him. I was found responsible for a certain percentage. State law for right of way was ignored due to them, without any evidence, saying I was speeding. This is not a very honest company to go with, I can not believe I actually paid for this. They got so much money out of me and could not even be honest when the time came. Thieves. Beware.

This CoVid 19 pandemic is like a domino effect. Lost of income and many things, including the integrity of Progressive Insurance. For so many though, that I have experience incompetence with their process and people including managers/supervisors. But what set me off is that they do not have a program or effort (now they have but too late) to help you cross the bridge of Pandemic. They have made me remove 2 cars from my insurance so that I could survived with income. Now DMV is penalizing me for doing that (approx. $1000.00). I have terminated Progressive and go back to my AAA, from AAA I have found out that they can suggest just to have at least have "liability". I had an auto accident in which it was deemed that I was not at fault. The claims agent took the deductible amount of my total loss settlement and indicated that I was at fault according the accident report that was sent to them. It clearly stated on the report that I swerved to avoid being hit after the other vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign. The adjuster gave me the lowest of the low value for my vehicle when there were exceptions which he refuse to acknowledge. It is a big hassle to get Progressive to call you back. You literally have to keep calling, leave message, emails and text for a response. They have the worst possible claims department in Houston, Texas. Their motto is basically, "you're at fault no matter right or wrong".

This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Let's start with the misrepresented quote and incompetence of the reps. I was originally was quoted for an amount that was lower then my current company. The gave me all types of discounts and it seemed like a good deal. Then 4 months later after I did the snapshot and expected a lower rate, It was quoted $150 more than the original price. They advised that this was due to a 1 time only discount that the rep did not state when I first switched.
They said that they made an error to my spouses information and that I should have been paying more from the start, but apparently they didn't catch that in time. They never told me the final 6month quote and said that they could not tell me that or the discounted amount that I received with the 1 time offer. This conversation was with the supervisor. She stated that she did not even know the discount amount I was given. We went through the whole situation and apparently the original quote was $250 more than the original. I was never told this amount 6 months prior.
Then after my terrible experience with Snapshot, I received a $86 savings using the SnapShot devices. They said that they took that amount off of the $250 that I was never told about. So instead of taking the discount off of the original amount, which I was expecting, I had to pay more and resulted in a increase. This is ridiculous...I would have never switched If knew the actual 6 month policy and all the discounts that played in. I switched back to GEICO and received great service and they gave me back my old policy, which is much better then the one I got with Progressive. Thanks for a terrible experience!

Yes, they took care of it alright!? They sent the $123 to collections and just found out today.
When I call them on this and asked for the recording of the last conversation I had with their rep telling me not to worry. Not a word was said and the rep on the phone wanted to argue with me. Yes they put me into collections during these hard times with COVID-19 BS going on right now. Apparently the bottom line is they obviously care about the money more than they care about us. Never will I ever recommend them to anyone. Moral of the story I went ahead and paid the collection agency the $123. A week later called to get info about renting a vehicle while mine was being repaired and progressive says "Well sir, at this time we can't move forward on your claim because we haven't gotten a callback from the liable party". I say... "But there's a police report?" They say "Sorry sir". I say... "So if he just doesn't return your call EVER, then what?" They say "then we deny the claim. At that point you can put it through your insurance".
Forgot to mention a relative detail... In speaking with the gentleman who hit me, I can see he speaks very little English. I recognize the accent - can tell he's Latino. My wife, is a native Spanish speaker. She offers to call the guy. She gets ahold of him. He says he spoke to them, but is sorry and will speak to them asap. She asks and he tells her he only speaks spanish.
I call progressive immediately to try to get them to call him within 10 mins -while it's fresh on his mind. They say "Sorry, the claims adjuster is in a meeting right now". I say, "I don't believe the adjuster speaks spanish anyway, and the person who calls needs to speak spanish - can you please help me out here. I'm also your customer". They say they'll call but I can tell it's just to get me off the phone. Next day I ask "Did you call". They say "Well I just tried him a few minutes ago, and no answer". I say "Did you call in spanish". No response.
Then he sends me a message saying 'send me pics of your vehicle on all four sides'. I message him asking: "Did the guy contact you?" They reply "Oh, sorry, meant to send that text to someone else". Couldn't come at a worse time... Right now with all the Covid19 panic. Really wrestling with spending $500 to fix damage that was completely the other guy's fault, and possibly could have been covered if progressive had not just wiped their hands of me so fast.
So then, a few days ago, I noticed a windshield crack (it's AZ) and figured - no big woop. Has happened before and geico just took care of it - should be the same with progressive. Called them - my policy does cover it, but they say I have to meet my deductible first. Job costs $450. Deductible is $500. Long story short - really was not worth it to save $15 a month.

They will deny your claim whenever they can and they will try to tell you that it's written in the contract but it's all lies. They lie and lie and cheat. They tell you that the parts in question are because of service-related old etc and they don't cover them even though you can prove that you hit something and that all this happened only after you hit it and you have documentation. You have proof you have everything. They will not honor it if they can get away with.. This is happened to me even though I have all kinds of proof. They just kick it back to "oh you had worn parts". So be careful..
If your car is 9 years old and older and you have anything absolutely anything that could be wrong with it even though that did not cause the accident had nothing to do with the accident they will refuse to repair your car. They will blame it on you. They will say it's your fault because you didn't repair every little ** thing on your car. All lies. He finally went to transfer me and I was disconnected! The supervisor did call me back but said, "Sorry, nothing I can do since you didn't pay in full last month". I tried to explain my confusion and asked for help but she said nothing could be done even though my credit is excellent and driving record has been spotless for years. VERY poor customer service and will be finding a new insurer.

This is a review of Progressive Auto Insurance and not an individual office. My car was recently damaged as it was parked out front of my house on the road. I called Progressive 800 number and file a claim. I was contacted the next day and was told that since it was parked and someone hit it and drove off it falls under no fault claim that has a 250 deductible instead of the 500 I expected. I was set up at Caliber Collision to bring my car in the next week. I brought it in and the manager said right off the bat "I see you hit a pole". I corrected him and told him how it happened. 10 days later they call me and said it was ready. Never heard from my insurance company the entire time other than to set up appointment.
When I picked up my car I was told my deductible was 500 not 250 and I asked why. They said I had hit a pole and I was at fault. They contacted the insurance Rep to have him call and tell me this. He said he just the Progressive adjuster said it was a pole and it was my fault. I paid the 500 but told them I was not happy. My adjuster that I originally spoke with called me and told me she had just found out that the adjuster said it was a pole that no vehicle could make the damage from 12 inches up to 30 inches up. The adjuster was a Caliber employee not Progressive. The same person that took me out to show me the car and told me they knew it was a pole because of the Safety Yellow paint. WRONG. Paint was white.
I was called a liar., They accused my granddaughter who had parked the car in front a liar and I demanded to speak with another supervisor. I was finally contacted by another Rep and was given the same song and dance. I sent an email with the damage to my agent along with a vehicle that could make the damage. I had a measuring tape in both pictures showing how it lined up. I then requested to speak with a supervisor and finally got a call. We spoke and she said she had seen my email but she didn't see the pictures and she stuck with the adjuster that said it had yellow paint. So I asked her if she was telling me that I filed insurance fraud and she said no. She offered to send my money back but refused to list it as a no fault accident. I told her I did not want her money and I could no longer do business with someone that considers me a liar. I am heading out today to change insurance and will be posting this everywhere I can on social media.

2)Their claims adjusters are not flexible with hours to schedule the inspection vehicle they give you a time window of 9am - 3pm. Then said he would send me referrals for mobile glass repair and another repair shop and never sent anything.
3)They estimated for repair has been so low on two different claims, they always make sure to come in right at the amount of your deductible or way below it and not anywhere close to the actual cost. Then when you go to the shop you have to fight and hope to get the additional cost covered.4)Property was stolen from my RV from a break-in and when I sent the list of property and the cost to replace it they sent me way less money then I can buy the items for today. The person who entered the info for our insurance claim for some dumb reason reported that there were FOUR accidents in one week. My husband was also T-Boned 4 years ago, again not at fault. Progressive has him marked as “at fault” for getting smashed into by someone else! We have sent in multiple legal documents (which are a TOTAL pain to obtain) to Progressive to prove we were not at fault for these accidents. All this time being overcharged for an insurance quote, based on clerical errors on Progressive's behalf. Every progressive representative we have worked with about these issues does “everything they can” to try and fix them, but in the end of each hour plus phone call find out that “unfortunately they can’t help us.”
Someone at progressive wrongfully entered false information, and now it can never be fixed apparently. Progressive seriously needs to do new training of employees. This company has caused so much unnecessary stress and frustration to my family for YEARS, and the rest of our lives I guess, because they won’t fix the errors they created which continue to cost us an astronomical amount of money to be insured. Don’t use this company. It is clear to me that they have too many customers already that they can’t efficiently support. I wish I could rate you negative stars Progressive!???

After going to the trouble of ordering, installing etc the devices, I was just informed that our rates will INCREASE by $300 for the next policy period. My car was one of the vehicles that was increased. I have not had a ticket or accident in over 10 years. I don't drive fast or reckless. I will not be renewing. I would rather pay more than sign up with Progressive again.

Got myself a Full collision no Fault Platinum insurance from Progressive. I drove my son to school in the morning. Parked the car half a block away from the school. Took him inside. When I came back out I see that on 2 sides in the back of my car there is damage. I called progressive. Made a claim and took to the shop they recommended. The shop owner on Monday tells me the adjuster will come inspect the car and call you in 2/3 days and he will you know what's next.
Adjuster from progressive never calls me, instead that same week on Thursday evening I get a voicemail from the body shop owner, "Car is done. Come pick it up. It's done." Friday I go there to pick up only to find out that adjuster approved one side of my car to be fixed and refused the other. Shop owner puts me on the phone with the adjuster. Adjuster just starts lying and lying, and treats me like garbage. I call progressive and they keep switching me to the adjuster's supervisor from the same office. I get tossed around with no help. I love this insurance company so far. We haven't had any accidents so I can't rate them there. I love the option online to change your bill due date for the next 3 months. It's not always there, so you can't just do it continuously but it's helped us out a couple times. Call customer service is very easy, most people are helpful and polite.
I did have an issue with one person. I accidentally made a duplicate payment to my account and when I called they said the duplicate payment hadn't posted to my account yet, and to call back when it does and they would take care of it. When I called back a different person said they couldn't refund payments, and she said something about a 15 day hold before they could do anything. And she said I should call my bank and hope they could fix it. I didn't like that answer so I called right back and got on the phone with someone else. She put me on hold for about 5 minutes and when she came back she told me she was able to refund it.
So that other person, who had an attitude for no reason, just made all that up. She didn't try to ask anyone, just told me "too bad" pretty much. I don't understand people like that. If you have an issue like that with customer service, call back and talk to at least one other person. Every company has at least one person like that, so it didn't affect my rating. I've dealt with enough jerks in customer service that I knew to call back immediately.

I have been with progressive since 2018, insuring my home, auto and motorcycle. I recently added a 2nd vehicle and did the change via mobile app, later to discover that the higher deductible I chose for the newly added vehicle also applied to my existing vehicle, which I did not want. I went on desktop to change my deductible to what it originally was and after I was given a quote for the new rate which was an increase of $3.42 monthly but they cannot make the changes until I call and speak with a live agent.
In doing so, I was told there would be a 5 day waiting period and a $10 dollar increase. I couldn't understand why when I attempted to do this online It showed only a $3.42 increase and when I asked why were the quotes different the agent could not give me an answer. I asked why was was there a 5 day wait for my deductible to be put back to what it always was and was told that was the law but when it was increase from $500-1000, there was no waiting period. It was done immediately. For every question I asked the agent, all her replies started off with, "well probably".... This was not very reassuring and I should probably look for new insurance company that can give definite answers because probably and maybe is not acceptable!!!

They called me to set an appointment and said there would be a 4 hour window. What? I’m supposed to miss 4 hrs of work so someone can come to my house for 2 mins. to take pics. So I called my agent and they schedule an appointment for me during a 2 week holiday. They no called/no showed.
So again I called my agent which contacted progressive and they said to just take pics myself and send them over. This was on a Friday while at work. I had a family medical emergency and had to go to Tennessee that night. We have Progressive Auto on 4 cars that we own and 4 drivers. After having this insurance for 3 years, we just had our first incident that we had to deal with the company - what a BAD experience!! My son’s car was recently rear ended. His friend happened to be driving his car - my son was not in the car. The accident was 100% the other driver's fault. I contacted Progressive about the accident and the whole process was difficult right from the start. The driver of the other vehicle was also a progressive customer. Progressive tried to open a claim on my policy and tried to charge me my deductible, even though the accident was 100% the other driver's fault. I had to request that they look at the police report for verification - why did they not do that automatically? The customer service agents were rude and unfriendly, not to mention, uneducated in their job. I spent way too much time dealing with their incompetence.
Now for the kicker! They added my son’s friend who was driving his car to my policy without my permission and WILL NOT remove her. She has her own car and her own insurance and was only driving his car that day because her car got parked in, in a parking lot. I have called multiple times and asked for her to be removed and they refuse because they claim she has regular access to his car???? What??
So does this mean that all his friends should be added to our insurance? She has driven his car a couple times total. This is RIDICULOUS! Again, she has her own insurance and her own car!!! As unacceptable as it is to just add her without my permission, the fact that they won’t remove her makes it even more unacceptable and ridiculous! I I I am switching companies and will tell everyone I can to never use this company. It is soooo not worth it to save a little money!!!!

The mechanic even told the insurance adjuster that it was because it was over accelerated, and he had the nerve to ask him if he thought it was because of my fiance that it happened. Even though it ran perfectly fine before it was stolen! There was also some cosmetic issues, that they said only added up to 800, when it needed to be over 1000. My fiance tried to tell them that's not for mechanical, that was just for cosmetic. They sent us paperwork denying our claim, saying it was normal wear and tear! They're thieves and bullies! She kept saying once I shared this information of a new driver in the house they by law had to be added to our policy. It went from 600 to 2000!! I kept saying how can that be so etc.. I said it can't be against the law to compare and have options. She held her ground. We subsequently went to Liberty. Dramatic savings. I then tried to contest some of the balance, They said that in a point of our conversation I agreed to go further with the quote which allowed them to charge and seal the deal so to speak. I signed up for Progressive Insurance in October of 2019 for a 2007 truck. My fiancé and I are on the title of the vehicle, but we decided to do the insurance only in my name due to the fact that we barely drive the vehicle. My fiancé was driving to pick me up from work in this vehicle because we a lot of times carpool because we work so close together. He was involved in an accident where someone blew a red light and hit him. Michigan is a no fault state, meaning even though he isn't on the physical policy, because I give him permission to drive the vehicle he is insured under the policy I had.
I filed a claim and was told by our claim rep George while being recorded for my portion of the statement which I told him that I was not there, but he told me while he was recording that if the driver was not at fault that it would be covered under my policy. A few days passed and the claim had to apparently go to upper management due to my fiancé not being on the insurance. Upper management decided to deny the claim even though he had permission to drive the vehicle and the accident was not his fault. Not only did Progressive deny our claim, but they also voided our policy for no reason and we were told they were going to refund our full policy to make it look like we were never insured.
The Monday after our policy was cancelled, they took a monthly payment out and refused to refund it until a full 10 business days after. This company is not good for insurance and finds any way to wiggle out of any insurance claim they get. I just wish I would have done more research before deciding to insure my vehicle with them. Apparently, we were paying for an insurance that doesn't do anything for you when you're not at fault. My lawyer will be in touch with progressive so we can take them to court. In the meantime, my fiancé and I will be out thousands of dollars due to the fact that we have to pay for the repairs out of pocket and then file a lawsuit. DO NOT FOR WHATEVER REASON CHOOSE PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE AS YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY.

Since 2017 with Progressive. I call to solve a problem and they tell me that I should open a new policy. I wanted to do it directly with Progressive, but they told me they would do it under the name of the same agency because it couldn't be directly with them. The person on the phone opens a new policy under the name of an agency with whom I have no contact. We talked a little more than an hour and they took all the data. Policy activated. He asks me if I agreed with my new policy will be $ 200.83 that will be charged to the credit card, because I made the authorization to be charged monthly. I said Yes. They make me the first charge without any problem.
Several weeks later I call customer service because I had not received the cards, they say it is because I must receive an email that they sent me and activate it, I did at that moment. Two months later I see that they have not charged me the monthly payment nor have I received the cards. I call and they tell me that they haven't charged me because I didn't send the signed credit card authorization form; additionally, he tells me I have the balance of the delayed month. And that the amount delayed corresponds to a single month and is $ 352.18. I explain that this is impossible because my monthly payment is $ 200.83. He tells me that now my monthly payment is now $ 352.18 because I don't send "another" signed document with an option that I select when I take the information over the phone.
I explain again that I will only pay my monthly payment (and I did) and the difference I will make a complain because it seems unfair to have to pay twice the monthly payment because none of the people with whom I have on the phone told me that I should sign a document and send them to your email (upload@email.progressive.com). However, for the first time, after having increased my monthly payment arbitrarily and having been uninformed. The person at the phone guides me to the documents that I must sign and gives me the email to which I must send them (for the first time, almost three months after I started my policy). I send the document (December 17, 2019), but sign it electronically and additionally print it and sign it by hand too. I call 48 hours later (the time it takes to process), they tell me that you guys received the document but that it is not correct. That must have only one signature.
I resend the document with only one signature (December 20, 2019). I call 48 hours later they tell me they have no system. I explain all my situation and tell them that I cannot pay something that I do not agree with, because when they asked for the information over the phone I was "in agreement" with paying $ 200.83 and not the amount they are "imposing" on me now. The person tells me that is sorry but that I must make that payment and that does not change because you guys send me all the information by email. Receive certain information from you and nowhere were the instructions or the email to which I should send the signed documents. I call back today (December 30, 2019), they tell me that they have not yet received the email I sent them (10 days later). I wanted to make the claim. It tells me that I cannot make the claim without having sent that mail.
I tell that I am upset and frustrated with this whole situation because all these problems have been presented by his customer service and tells me to go with another insurance company. That is, his message was: "We are not interested in helping, if you don't like, then go away with another company". Oh, and my insurance agency, with whom I have not had contact for several years (and which forced me to continue with them), finally appeared to tell me that I had an outstanding balance. They did not appear after the update, or at any other time. Progressive Mentality: "Pay for our mistakes and then see. We do not have any comments page, there is no place to make a claim, our customer service is not authorized to receive claims. We are not willing to solve any billing problem, if you don't like it, leave." Ok.

I've never experienced anything like my recent experiences with Progressive Insurance. My renewal was due 12/12/19, on 12/11/19 I called Progressive to see what my options were for renewing, as I'd fallen on hard times and would not be able to make payment until either the 14th or 15th of December. I was told over the phone, on a recorded line, that as long as I made payment within 3 days of the renewal date that I would be able to renew without a lapse in coverage.
On 12/14/19, two days after the renewal date, I called back in to make my payment and renew my policy. I was then informed that I could renew, but it would renew with a lapse in coverage. I went ahead and made the payment and then wrote into the customer service chat line. The resolutions center was able to pull the recorded line and verified, that I was in fact given incorrect information at the time of my first call. They were able to renew my policy WITHOUT lapse, because I had been given inaccurate information. We've since sold a vehicle and I needed to take the vehicle off of our policy.
Today 12/23/19, I called Progressive, again on a recorded line, to ask about taking this vehicle off of the policy. I was told that there would be an increase of $1.00. I was fine with that. I asked what the monthly payment would be, $170.00? When I asked for the breakdown of the monthly payments, I was informed that it would be $180, which is $11 more than I'm currently paying, not $1.00 more. I once again, contacted Progressive via chat, to dispute the situation, only this time there was no resolution. Via chat, I was told that the increase to remove the vehicle would be $20.37. This doesn't even match what information was given to me over the phone. I've never received such poor support, while being given false or inaccurate information every time I call or email in for assistance. I will be going with a difference company and would absolutely, not recommend Progressive.

I recently had an issue with my fuel gauge, and ran out of fuel a little over 6 miles outside of a decent sized city. As my policy includes roadside assistance, I decided to give it a shot. Why not, I'm paying for it, right? The in-app interface is relatively self explanatory. You fill out your situation following a nicely designed menu system, and wait for them to either text you or call you depending on which option you selected during that process.
I decide to have them text me. 20 minutes later, my phone rings. It is a representative from Progressive roadside assistance, asking me about what exactly I need help with. So much for texting me, or literally any of the info I had filled out previously. I assume all of my inputs were forwarded straight to the trash can for further analysis.
The representative is polite. She asks me if she is speaking to >blank< with policy number >blank<, both of which I confirm. She then asks me what my name is, and what my policy number is. ... ... I proceed to tell her that she literally just did that in reverse order. At this point I am more than happy to deal with a very confused call center representative, as I have now been sitting in a vehicle with no heat in the dead of winter for over half an hour.
Next up, I am informed that my policy doesn't exist. The one that she pulled up in front of her to read off my name and number from. And then I do not have roadside assistance. Can I hold please? Of course, that sounds wonderful. "Ok sorry sir, my apologies. I have your information here. Can you please verify your location so we can have a service provider sent out to you?"
Progress! Of course, here is my location. Yes, gasoline please, not diesel. The GPS pin that the app had already confirmed with me? Still under analysis at dumpsterco apparently. After stumbling through a predictably painful conversation about where exactly my vehicle is sitting on the highway, she assures me that help is on the way. I will be receiving a text shortly from a local service provider.
1 hour later. I have blankets and hand warmers, but this isn't fun. I call a local taxi company and have them ferry me out a gas can at an exorbitant, but totally understandable price. They are cab drivers, not roadside assistance. Thank heavens, I'm back on the road! 3 hours and 4 minutes after my initial conversation with progressive, my phone rings. "Hi this is Dan, where exactly is your vehicle? I just received a call out to come give you some fuel and called you right away. They didn't tell me where you are or what kind of fuel you need though. Where did you need me to go?" Thanks Dan, I'm good.

I contacted Progressive and provided numerous comparisons but they have had excuse after excuse for NOT paying us what our vehicle is worth nor paying to date of loss, twisting numbers adding random reasons to not use the comparisons we have provided. Megan ** told me to provide more comparisons which I did, about a dozen and they now refuse to even look at them. She did not even submit them for review but immediate responded with, "Sorry but we are not going to look at these comparisons." Progressive is refusing to compensate us from the date of loss stating that they didn't open the claim for several days.
We were not able to open the claim because their client would not give us the information. The amount of what they are offering and what we have more than proved to be owed is differing by $1160. My mother got a quote online and was asked about accidents which she claimed none. She later received a call from Progressive that she had two prior accidents and that the quote was incorrect. It would come out to over two hundred dollars more for six months. The two accidents; one her parked car in her driveway was backed into by neighbor across the street. The claim to repair her car was on the neighbors ins. And the second accident she was stopped at a red light and rear ended and that claim as well was on the other driver.
That is why she felt putting 0 accidents was sufficient because she never put a claim in to her Insurance company. So I called Progressive and was told she was a more at risk driver for those two. Well having your car parked in your own driveway and stopping at a red light would make us all more at risk. So she should pay four hundred more? I asked Progressive this a he said all insurance companies do this. Not true.

When I called them about it they only agreed to refund one payment. This was in October. So I called and asked when would my next payment be? They said with the two payments they took out I shouldn't have another payment until December. Then in November they sent me a bill for November. I called and basically was told I still had to send a payment in for November. I have the bank statements to show the payments went through every month including the two they took out at once. And they still insisted on a payment for November. I am completely disappointed and disgusted!! Needless to say I will be switching companies!!! I signed up for Progressive because it seemed reasonably priced. Shortly have signing up, my bill went from $268 to $520. Why? because I needed proof of continuous insurance. I guess Progressive is one of the few insurance companies that can't see that information themselves. I tried to get my prior information, Geico wasn't giving it up right away. I told them I didn't have $500 in my account that they were going to auto draft, and I turned off the auto draft (which resulted in even HIGHER fees). Of course it bounced, causing serious issues in my banks with fees and such. I'm 200 dollars in fees in my bank now too. So what do they do, even after I communicated with them about this? AND sent proof of prior insurance? They drafted me $500 again!
I'm not going to pay them another dime, I'm just going with another insurance company. After talking to customer service, it's pretty obvious they really don't care about their customers or helping them work through issues, they just start quoting your contract and giving you fake platitudes. Nothing was resolved, and I would fear them having to handle any claims, I can just imagine based on my experience with customer service that it would be hard to get paid (speculation sorry).

One month before my auto policy was scheduled to expire (I pay in full at the start of each policy renewal period), my daughter became eligible to drive. My daughter was given a car, she paid to title it in her name and insure it in her name (she was responsible for all maintenance and insurance costs - paid $750 down for insurance and $150 month). Within days of her registering and insuring her car, Progressive sent an email informing me that my insurance premium would be going up. Under Massachusetts law, I and my older daughter are permitted to exclude other household members from being listed as a driver on our policy - including my youngest daughter who just started driving. Progressive assured me over the phone that my youngest daughter would be excluded and I would not have to pay a large increase in premium. Days later, I get another email warning as if the phone call never happened.
I decided not to renew with Progressive and two weeks after the policy expired - received a bill for $165 to cover the additional charge Progressive felt I owed for the month my daughter became eligible to drive while I was still insured with Progressive. Like another well known large nationwide auto insurer, Progressive is constantly looking for ways to reach into your pocket while at the same time looking for ways to refuse to pay rightful claims. Progressive is a scumbag company that pays many millions for its barrage of TV advertising campaigns. And its unfair, thieving business practices explain how it is able to pay for that advertising time.

I received the text from Progressive and waited almost an hour for the towing to contact. I then tried to use the link in the text to get an E.T.A. It said my phone was not in their records. Progressive Insurance is ok until you actually need to use your insurance. I had an accident over a month ago that only involved my car but had significant damage to the front, back, and passenger side. Filed my claim and was able to finally take it to the body shop. My car there for almost a week waiting on the Progressive adjuster to get there to look at it because they won’t let anyone else assess the damage.
After a month I finally got my car back where it had been fixed with used parts that progressive insisted on replacing it with. I would be fine with like new parts but some of these had scratches etc. After leaving the body shop I noticed a roaring sound but just thought it was the road I was on. After several days of still hearing this noise I told my husband he needed to drive it to see if he heard anything (I only drive 5 min to work so kinda hard to tell ). We drove it on the interstate and the roaring was so loud.
We called the auto body shop and they asked us to bring in the next day to do a test drive with my husband to figure out what the issue is. (Evidently at no point did the insurance adjuster or auto body shop actually drive my car to make sure there was no other damage when they were checking it out). The mechanic heard the roaring immediately and said it was the wheel bearing and he would contact the insurance and then let us know when they had the part in to fix.
A few hours later progressive calls to tell me they aren’t going to cover It because they don’t think it was caused by the accident. I tried to explain that my car stopped by crashing into the guard rail at an angle on that side of the wheel with the issue. He said it normally messes up with wear and tear and because my car had 89,000 miles on it that was what it was from. I explained that I had bought my car like 3 months ago and obviously I would not have bought it making a noise like that and I never heard the noise until I left the body shop. So evidently according to progressive the wheel bearing wore out while it sat at the body shop for a month....
I’m 44 and this is the first accident I’ve had and it’s freaking ridiculous that you pay for insurance all these years and when you actually need it they screw you over. Should have known this was going to be a nightmare because when we first walked in the body shop and they asked what insurance I had they said, "Oh god. Not progressive". I wouldn’t suggest that anyone use this company. They sure take your money every month but definitely screw you over when you actually need to use the insurance!

We are not insured with Progressive, however the driver that rear ended my husband is. For the Progressive customer, I am assuming rates are worth using them, however, if you are not their customer, they do not take care of the claim amply. Due to our vehicle being rear ended, there was rear end damage to the vehicle, however the front/motor is fine, therefore we are only asking for vehicle to be fixed as it was prior to the accident. Progressive decided to total our vehicle instead of fixing damage. They gave us a very low ball number to give us for the vehicle, which we cannot come close to replacing same vehicle with the very small allotment, which they were not willing to budge on.... AND on top of that, since they didn't want to fix and marked totalled, in order to keep our running vehicle, we also have to pay a sizable salvage fee.
I used to think that if you were in an accident (especially not your fault) that insurance would take care of you.... Isn't that why we are to pay in to insurance???? I tried to like Progressive, I really did. We decided to try Progressive because it promised to be a better deal if we used the electronic driving monitor for several months. What I found out is that unless you're lucky enough to never have anyone cut in front of you with no warning while driving, it won't save you anything, and worse, it just might get you killed.
The problem: the electronic driving monitor they have you install to track your driving and purportedly result in a discount, emits an audible alert every time you "brake too hard" when showing or stopping. The result of such an alarm conditions you to brake softly. The problem comes when someone suddenly cuts in front of you and you have been conditioned to brake softly! Accident waiting to happen, and almost resulted in one (I'm 50 and have NEVER had a motor vehicle accident). But I live in Phoenix, where cut-off drivers are a way of life. I realized the driving monitor had effectively altered my valid responses to dangerous conditions, and removed it.
Quickly switched to Geico after that experience. I'm a military veteran, so they offered a discount just for that. Progressive doesn't have a military discount, and USAA has gone so far downhill in their customer service I'll never use them again. So for me, Geico wins. They said that if I had no idea who hit me (meaning I didn't see the truck at all), then it would qualify. They are obviously trying so hard to avoid covering the incident by making up nonsense excuses and explanations. My experience with Snapshot is not very good, it doesn't take into account other drivers jumping in front of you when you are coming to a stop light. This lessens your stopping distance, so the snapshot chimes in. This all about how long from the time and distance it takes for you to come to a stop. If the distance and time are cut short by someone abruptly pulling in front of you you get dinged for this. This should also be based on how fast the driver reacts to the situation and doesn't have an accident. This is my biggest pet peeve of this device. Thanks. James.

After the first accident, I was told that the driver of the vehicle was uninsured and that I would be responsible for paying my deductible and that they would try to recover it for me. Yeah, no luck there. They haven't even provided status updates on that recovery unless I call them. I essentially lost $500. The second accident happened in September. My truck has been sitting in my driveway, unrepaired, for three weeks while they "investigate" whether or not the other driver's policy was valid.
The claims process has been a nightmare. I have been with Progressive insurance for several years and have always thought they were fair and treated their customers good. I thought they fought on your behalf but I was very wrong. I was in my first accident ever in January of this year. I got my license when I was 17 and I’m almost 40. I don’t get tickets at all and I think I am a safe driver. This accident the woman in front of me stopped suddenly and although I was a good car length away I caught standing water (it was raining) and my brakes locked up and I clipped the right back bumper. She said her car beeped so she stopped (no light or anything) but regardless of the fact that her actions caused the accident because I hit her from behind it was my fault. That was very upsetting but I was told there was nothing I could do to fight it.
This woman at the scene says she was totally fine and that she was in a rental car because she was on her way to get her car out of the shop because she had been in the exact same accident and they had been fixing her car. She then stated she had actually been in 4 accidents in the last year of the same style (but no one from progressive thinks that’s a lil questionable). We had a cop pull over right after everything happened and he said if everyone was ok and the woman said yes she was fine. He said great helped us move into the parking lot and left. My husband was concerned about exactly what ended up happening and so I called the police again and said could we please have an officer come take a report. They said “We don’t come out for non injury accidents” so we immediately called our insurance and filed a claim and followed all procedure.
2 months down the line this woman claims injury and a bunch of other stuff that was not true and progressive didn’t bother to look into it, fight it, call it for what it was a lie. Nope they just said ok here ya go and now it shows I’m at fault for an injury accident and they up my monthly insurance $130 a month!!!! Explain to me 1. How does 1 accident negate 24 years of safe and perfect driving record!!!! 2. Why the hell do i pay full coverage to cover any of this for them to up my already full coverage even higher?! And 3. Do they just ignore their own clients testimony and lay down and allow these people that lie to just get away with hit and cause people like me with a great record to get screwed! I’m so angry! I guess if I was rich I could get a lawyer and fight it but I’m not and now I just have to eat it and I’m ** angry. I’m leaving this crap shoot of a business ASAP.

I have send the residence information but Progressive is saying they haven't received the document. USPS is not able to track the envelope. Secondly they did absolute blunder by filing claim under different policy which has been cancelled 3 month back. Please don't buy Progressive insurance.

I get a bill for another $200.00 bucks saying because I didn't buy the Home Insurance bundle! This is very misleading in the quotation process, almost downright fraudulent. They should charge you the extra $200 dollars for the whole 6 months' premium then give you credit for $200.00 dollars once you signed up for the Homeowners insurance bundle.
Making their quote to appear lower at the expense of customers being charged later if they only choose the Auto Insurance is very misleading. Whoever design this workflow on their website should be fired. You can be still be competitive and honest at the same time Progressive. Why do you do this tactics? Why don't you design your website and quotation and payment of insurance not misleading?

This company is a COMPLETE RIPOFF!!! They took it upon themselves to just add four of my family members to my policy without my permission. First of all NONE of these family members reside in my home, but were added regardless. I wasn't even asked if they resided in my home? Not only did they add them but they also added them with ages of 16 years old so that they could raise my rate as high as possible! What, that is absolutely absurd!!! I was then told to prove that they didn't live in my home. If I didn't add them then that should be enough proof, especially when I was told that we were all on a policy back in 1994.
That is absolutely ridiculous and false because one of them has never had a license and another was too young to drive in 1994. Only one of them could have possibly been on a policy with me back in 1994 and I don't think that's even true. Are you guys seriously adding drivers to my policy based on information that you found from 1994!!! My rate was raised to $533 a month from $184. No way was I going to pay that especially when it was based on FALSE facts!!!
Of course I cancelled the policy and was told that I had to pay a $50 cancellation fee on top of all the other ridiculousness!!! I've never in my life had to pay a fee for canceling an insurance policy!! In most cases you get money back, but not with PROGRESSIVE!! I'm EXTREMELY IRATE and just wanted to warn others that this company is a COMPLETE RIPOFF!!! If there was any way for me to leave zero stars, I definitely would have!!!

Progressive lost an entire month of my payment which is around $500. They then required me to pay the entire bill again while they “looked into it” so I gave them another $500 or they would have cancelled my insurance. After a month and a half of them “figuring it out” they finally found the payment and told me they would be refunding me $500 dollars in the next two weeks. I waited a month for this money and called them again asking when I could expect it and they told me by the end of the week. It has not been another month and I still have not seen this money or gotten any updates. This situation is unprofessional on their part since it was their fault and not the customer's. Not everyone can just give up $500 and I was really counting on that money coming back since I have college tuition and textbooks that was due last week. So all in all if they end up owing you money don’t expect to see it back. I am now insured elsewhere.

I purchased a Progressive policy because my family had been using Progressive. It was fine when I lived in Maine but when I moved to Massachusetts my rate went up over 4X the amount I was previously paying. I was informed by the Progressive representative that this was the lowest I was able to pay for living in MA. After 4 months of paying through Progressive, I contemplated selling my car because it was costing me too much for insurance. I began searching for quotes through other respectable insurance companies and found that I was being overcharged 3X the amount that other insurance companies were charging for the same level of coverage. When I went to cancel my policy with Progressive there were no additional charges due to my account and everything was paid. There was also no mention of a Cancellation Fee. With a search on Cancellation Fees, I was informed that there was a $0 fee.
The day afterward my policy was officially cancelled, I received an email that I was being charged an additional $50. When I called a Progressive representative, they searched for ten minutes on my account to see if I had missed any payments and why there was an additional charge. When they could find nothing else, they said that they really didn't know why I was being charged but decided that it must be a Cancellation Fee and that I had one week to pay for it. Their outrageously priced policies and hidden fees are why I gave Progressive one star. My best suggestion is look at different insurance company quotes. Do not settle for the first one that makes you an offer and make sure to ask about all additional fees.

Back in April I backed into a parked car and scratched the bumper. I did what I was supposed to do by informing the other driver, exchanging insurance info, taking a photo of the damage, and informing Progressive immediately. They said they would open a claim. A few weeks later I called to check on its progress and was told that the other driver had chosen not to file with her insurance. Months go by and it's time to renew my policy. Suddenly I see my premium has gone up by almost $50 a month. I call to see why and am told that it is because of the $1093 payout they made to the other driver (who evidently did file with her insurance). I asked why I was never informed that she did file, that they were paying out, and that there would be an increase in my premium.
The answer I got was a hem and haw. "Well, usually it's the other driver that calls you to let you know." SERIOUSLY?? You don't actually believe that I'm stupid enough to believe that, do you? It is the responsibility of the insurance company. That is part of what they are paid for. So not only did they drop the ball, but they lied to try and shirk their responsibility. I dumped them as my insurance effective September 19th. I was told my refund of $107.30 could take up to 48 hours to show up in my bank account. I waited and waited, and after 4 full days I called them once again to ask where my refund was. It was then that I was told "Oh, I'm sorry you received that misinformation."
Evidently, they cannot release any refunds until they are certain they have my payment in their system--these are their words, not mine. When I informed them that I paid my premium on the 15th, they countered with "I'm sorry but we still have to wait 12 days to make sure the money is here." So they lied to me yet again. This company is the crappiest I've ever dealt with. I will NEVER do business here again. The reason I am taking the time to write this review which probably won’t matter as they are a huge company. I switched my policy from Geico to Progressive in June due to the lower rate. I signed up and agreed to a certain monthly payment. After paying it for 2 months, an internal change occurred and I called right away. Of course no one was going to tell me that if I didn’t do this or send this in, my policy would change. They increased my policy $200 on top of my monthly payment. If I was informed that my policy would change, I would have sent to documents over initially but I was not provided any directions as where I was supposed to send in the documents and what documents needed to be sent in?
No email, fax, mailing address, nothing as it was hidden from me to begin with. Called them over and over and they stated they sent notifications out but I did not receive anything. I have paperless as well so they would have informed me but nope, didn’t receive a single notice until it was taken out of my account. I did not get a reimbursement or credit on my next payments as I sent in the information that same day, I was told I would have to call back to check when it has finalized.
Called back and Leonardo my rep over the phone stated it would credit me towards my next payments and that I wouldn’t have a September payment as they charged me double my monthly premium. And that October I would also be paying less as well after he applied the changes and I authorized these changes. Told me to call back in a couple days after it has finalized.
Called back 2 days and David was my rep this time and I asked for Leonardo and he said he’s on another phone call. David told me no they wouldn’t reimburse me or credit towards my bills and I would still have to pay my monthly premium. I asked to speak to a manager as I was not informed of the changes until after it had withdrawn my account.
Of course the managers don’t actually talk to you, David just said he would not and I told them they need to honor what was said, every phone call is recorded so they need to listen in on them. But I thought the fight was over as they did not need anything else from me as I made sure on those phone calls and I asked them did I need to do anything to keep my discounts, any other documents cause they were not getting me this time around! But surely the fight was not over and here we are again.
I got an email notifying me that my electronic funds discount was being changed without me authorizing it again. My payment was due on the 17th, it is the 23rd. I immediately called them asking why these changes took place. They again had no answers and that I would be charged a late fee. I am furious this time around as I am paying for all these changes that I did not authorize! Again Michelle is my rep this time, told me to “call back” when they have more information.
I wanted to make the monthly payment over the phone as I did not want a late fee charge and she discouraged me saying it would be a double payment if the first one did go through. I told her I’m not concerned about the double payment as it would just go towards October’s payment, am I right? I rather that then a late fee and also a late payment inquiry on my credit. But no she stated to just “call back”. I will be calling back in 2 days and cancelling if I get a late fee charge. I will be updating my review. This is ridiculous.

I have had Progressive for over a decade mainly because it is the cheapest insurance company, and U.S. law requires drivers to have insurance. In less than three months I have had a car broken into and the ignition stripped. My only other vehicle was parked in our stall and slammed into in an overnight hit-and-run. I pay over $2000 a year for full coverage comprehensive and collision. Guess who had to pay to replace the ignition stripped out of my truck? And guess who is going to have to pay to replace that rear bumper with back-up sensors for my wife's van. Not Progressive.
You see, you have to meet a $500 deductible each for comprehensive for an attempted theft and then a separate $500 again for collision which is really nice when you're a lousy driver, who is in an accident every other month, but for someone, who has never been in an at-fault accident and has only been in two accidents in over 20 years of driving, it's troubling to have to spend over $2000 a year in mandatory insurance and then hundreds more before Progressive actually decides to help. I don't know the best course of action to take, but any federal or state law that is created that forces you to spend thousands of dollars over the course of lifetime to have something that you'll only ever really use a couple of times at best is wrong. Something needs to change. The laws need to change and force insurance companies to treat customers better. I'm tired of paying for other people's sins. I'm not Jesus.

I switched to Progressive a year ago. I was with USAA. I should have stayed. Progressive offered a lower rate, initially but small adders kept cropping up. I believe I pay them more now than I would be paying USAA. My daughter is 21 years old. She moved out at the age of 18 to go to college in another state. Since that time she got engaged and has lived with her fiance' for the past 1.5 years. She is visiting me now, has a driver's license from another state, and was hit by an at-fault driver who ran a red light. She was running an errand for me. We live in a no-fault state so our own insurance still pays for the damage.
Progressive states they won't pay, because she was not listed on my insurance policy as a driver. She doesn't live with me. Has not lived with me for years. She lives at another residence in another entire region of the state, and has a drivers' license from an entirely different state. Progressive states they won't pay. Stay away from these Charlatans. I am going back to USAA. It's worth it to know you will be covered if you ever need to make a claim, and the insurance company you pay your premiums to won't be simply looking for an excuse to screw you. Progressive will be looking for this excuse. Stay away from Progressive.

I sold that car and went to a Toyota Prius which is a slow mid size basic car. They raised my rate by nearly $50 a month. I found better insurance and went to cancel and they told me I couldn't cancel because Florida law says you must carry your current policy on the car for 60 days. Which is true in certain cases but not if you get another company and start your insurance immediately. This is the Statute from the state of Florida.
(a) Issued to achieve common expiration dates; or
(b) Issued to complete the unexpired portion of a previous policy period.
(3) Except as provided in s. 627.7282, an insured may not cancel a policy or binder during the first two months immediately following the effective date of the policy except:
(a) Upon total destruction of the insured motor vehicle;
(b) Upon transfer of ownership of the insured motor vehicle; or
(c) After purchase of another policy or binder covering the motor vehicle that was covered under the policy being canceled.
As you can see in section C it states if you get another Binder. They tried to tell me they wouldn't cancel it for another 3 weeks and would bill me $65.88. Watch this company closely. We were put on hold while all this happened. They were impossible to get a call back from. Ms. ** was forever out of office. We were shuffled around to 3 different agents. After I finally got a total estimate. Then they had to appraise the value of the truck which they low balled to benefit them. Called my bank behind my back and tried to pay them off without asking me to do so. We had ask about the appraised value of the truck and was told they did not know yet. But turned around same day and tried to get the bank to settle for less than the loan amount owed on truck.
All this took a month while I was out of work. When I disagreed with the appraised price, I was told I had to hire a private appraiser but at this point I have been out of work 6 weeks with no pay. It is now 7 weeks going on 8 I am still not working, they are trying to starve me out, to force me to take what they want to give. They are trying to give me a 3rd of the value of it. When I told them to just fix it.
They said it is a total loss and although the estimate was 21,900.00 that it would cost way more than that to get my truck right and that they had already been offered 5500.00 form the salvage yard for it. Anyone looking for insurance coverage stay away from Progressive. They are a dishonest company that will not honor the terms of your policy thus stealing from you as a customer. I paid for an auto policy that closeted comprehension, collision, rental car, roadside assistance, loan/lease pay off and everything in between amounting to a monthly bill of over $200. When my vehicle was hit in a parking lot while I was watching fireworks with my son I contacted Progressive and the local PD. I filed a police report, turned over my vehicle to the repair shop and picked up my rental. I thought everything was going fine and just like my policy stated. That was until they decided to total out my car and transfer my claim to Franchesca a representative out of Utah. That is when everything went downhill.
For starters she canceled my rental car after 10 days (my policy covered 30 or $1500) and to top it off she never informed me she canceled my rental car. The rental company thankfully called me. Otherwise I would of been liable for any days past the day she canceled. I spent a week prior to her canceling to get a return call from her. Then after my rental car incident she presented me with a offer for my now totaled vehicle. The offer she sent me was over 2k below the market average, didn’t include any of my upgraded packages, the brand new tires on my car that she had an invoice for, my Gap coverage and she was charging me a deductible despite the fact that I didn’t have one due to the amount of coverage I had purchased.
I refused her offer to which her response was to try and force me to accept it by threatening me. I sent her multiple emails with questions. She refused to answer and when I confronted her about those emails she responded in a mocking and degrading way. Disrespectful yes but that’s her prerogative. If she wants to be a disrespectful person she can be. I contacted an attorney and scheduled an outside party to appraise my vehicle which is my right as per their company policy.
The week of my appraisal Franchesca closed my claim as an owner retains offering a fraction of what my vehicle is worth still not including any of the extra coverage I paid for and refusing to answer any phone calls or emails once again. What they have done is illegal. They did not act in good faith nor did they honor the contractual agreement between us with my policy. So I urge anyone who is thinking about using Progressive to reconsider. They are not a good company and if given the opportunity they will take your money and refuse to provide you with the coverage you are paying for. I will never use them again.

I have a bit of information that I think needs to be shared about this insurance company specifically its policies and procedures. On September 12, 2019 I went to check my email. Progressive had sent me a change of policy which I thought was kind of strange since I hadn’t changed anything on my policy. Going to my account I found that they had automatically added my oldest daughter on to my auto insurance. Now, my daughter hasn’t lived in the same state as me for years. She’s almost 30 years old, has her own cars, home, family. How in the world did she get onto my car insurance? And who had authorized it???
Of course, I called to find out what was going on. First, I talked to a woman named Mariah in Customer Service which transferred me to the underwriter department and a woman named Christina. Come to find out that the underwriters for the company had decided to add my daughter to my account. Why? Because at one time she had lived at this address and had Progressive Insurance. Wait….what? So just because my daughter used to live here and had Progressive insurance she could be automatically added to my policy by an underwriter? Who are these underwriters that think they can just do whatever they want to anyone’s policies?
They don’t know what is going on outside their computer screen and they have no right to just assume information with no proof. Oh yes, at one point she had lived in my home and they didn’t have any proof that she no longer lived here. Christina then informed me that I (yes, me!) needed to provide them proof that she didn’t live here. No…I don’t think so. I didn’t add her to the policy, I don’t work for Progressive. I pay the company Christina works for to insure my vehicles!!! Not to tell me who is on them or that I must do paperwork to take them off when a person I didn’t add to the policy shouldn’t even be there in the first place! Christina told me that was how their policies worked. Not for me.
Progressive obviously doesn’t work for me. No one should have to right to add whomever they choose to my policy whenever they choose. It’s my policy. I think that maybe I know my world a little better than they do. I happen to know who lives in my house and who drives my vehicles! I told Christina that she needed to take my daughter off the policy. She again, told me that I needed to show proof that she didn’t live with me. No, Christina I don’t. I don’t NEED to do anything. But I am going to switch insurance companies. Congratulations on having one less patron to Progressive's business. By midnight tonight your services are no longer needed!

Chose them because of the low rate they quoted me only to have the rate increase once coverage began. Was sent a letter of the increase. It was minimal so I let it slide. Later tried to make some changes to my policy concerning a motorcycle. My rates went up after I dropped the bike! Again, it was a minimal amount, so I let it slide, but began looking at other companies for renewal. Found out that a competitor would give me all I wanted at a much lower rate. I signed with this competitor and went to the Progressive website to attempt to cancel. I could not find anywhere to do this, so I called. I was told that in order to cancel, I had to go to the website. I explained that I had been there and was told to look again. I went back and again could not find any route to perform a cancellation. I am no amateur, I tried everything I could to find this cancellation page.
So, most companies would cancel a policy if no payment is received, not Progressive. They sent me letters requesting payment for a policy that I had not renewed. They finally cancelled the policy 3 months later. What did I care? I had insurance coverage from another company. Once the policy had cancelled, the letters stopped. Cool, all done, right? No. I received 1 phone call from a collection agency, asking me to pay $83. I explained what had occurred and that I would not be paying this. Radio silence since then. Almost a year later, an item appears on my credit report. $83 from Progressive shows as unpaid and disputed by customer. Please understand that it costs much more than $83 to report an item on a customer's credit report. This was done for spite alone. Thank God I had not signed up for auto pay! I am currently discussing this issue with an attorney.

They cancelled my policy after 10 years of loyalty! Yes, I've got in 3 accidents in 3 years since moving to the NE. People drive like ** here! But I've been paying $1000+ every 6 months! ($1700 in May). What is the point of the high deductible if they are going to cancel anyway?? Apparently, their advertisement of "large accident forgiveness" means you can't have an accident for 3 years for it to be forgiven. Also, if you get roadside assistance through them they count that against you as a claim!

I filed a claim on hail damage on my car with Progressive. They claim all damage was pre existing. When we had a golf ball sized hail storm. They closed my claim. I need to know what to do at this point regarding a attorney.

The quote process was easy. It was also very easy to get insured. Price is reasonable. Except they wanted me to put my boyfriend on my insurance when he has his own and only drives my car every once in a while.

Although I used this company for a long time, the rate never went down. They were very responsive and quick to my needs however. I had a chipped windshield that started to crack rapidly, and they had it replaced within a day, much to my relief. I only switched recently to another company, after being with them for many years, due to a much better rate elsewhere.

When in a car accident and both parties have Progressive, Progressive will do its very best to not pay either and find both parties at fault to avoid paying cost. Progressive is a FRAUD. Even with witness, police report and dash cam video.

When we had cold weather this year, the PCV froze on my Mini and was not covered by Progressive. Living in a state that has cold weather, you'd think that would be something included with coverage. Sadly, it was not and meant I had to scramble to find a new vehicle quickly.

They are quick to issue claim check after survey of vehicle. The customer service agent was very helpful and understanding. The in field adjuster was prompt, reassuring and effectively making a decision on the spot after a few questions about the incident. I highly recommend this insurance.

Progressive baits consumers with low rates that have poor coverage. Also for the same coverage at Geico Progressive is 50 percent higher in price with less liability coverage. With Progressive a side by side comparison with Geico is a no brainer. Geico provides better coverage for less money. If you need minimum legal coverage and want to spread payments out, Progressive has more flexibility but again the coverage is absolute minimum.

I was with Geico for over 30 years and Progressive gave me the same exact policy for $444.00 less on a 6 month policy so I switched after Geico refused to negotiate. I was very disappointed how they would not even counter. We never ever had a ticket or any kind of claim.

This probably is only speaking to my particular claim adjuster, the Southern California claim adjuster (sorry be vague in this description but is as near as I can discern given his responses, affiliate shop adjuster & relation contact). My accident occurred on a Friday night, due to Labor Day. Progressive would not tow my truck until Tuesday between 9:30-10am. Nobody came. I had to call Progressive again to get a tow truck to come. Over the weekend my only communication after the initial phone call to open a claim was texting with someone from Progressive. Now mind you, I've been waiting for 4 days to get my truck towed.
Through text, the Progressive rep would only tow the truck on Tuesday to their affiliate shop. I had no choice but to say yes, please tow my truck. A tow truck finally comes around 11:40am. He is not prepared to tow a truck with a missing tire because that was never conveyed by Progressive! He has to call Progressive to get clearance to rig to tow as best as he can. He has to solicit my girlfriend's help in order to get the truck hooked up to be towed. I get a call from the shop at 3:11pm. The shop needs agreement paperwork signed as I'm already headed back to Arizona. I asked them to send it to me. Here are the 3 points of contention:
1) "Depending on the insurance carrier, aftermarket or RECYCLED PARTS may be used on you vehicle." Meaning the shop will pull junkyard/salvage parts for your repair.
2) "QualTech Auto Collision will not be held responsible for loss of items or damage to the vehicle due to FIRE, THEFT, ACCIDENT or any cause beyond QualTech's control." They are pretty much saying they are not responsible for taking possession of your vehicle at all and seems to imply they don't have insurance to protect their repair business. Who knows!
3) "STORAGE FEES WILL BE CHARGED FORTY EIGHT HOURS AFTER THE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED." Well, I'm out of state and I'm going to need a little more time.
I spoke to a lady at QualTech and talked through these concerns. There were no concerns after our conversation. I annotated the agreement and initialed each statement as discussed. Sent the agreement back to the shop. That's when I got a call from a different lady from the shop telling me I can't change or capture my verbal agreement on their paper work. Well Ok. We don't need to do business, but she goes on telling me they will use salvage parts on the vehicle as if she owned the vehicle. She actually perused arguing with me. I told this isn't even a conversion to be had with you (the shop) but with my insurance company.
Finally she blurts out, "Come in tow your truck somewhere else" and the conversion ended right there. The owner and this person immediately had a conference call with their Progressive Rep to explain what transpired. It took me speaking with 2 reps to get transferred to the same Progressive person the shop was working with. This Progressive adjuster still suggests this is a good shop even after the way their customer (me) was treated. He thinks it's just a misunderstanding. He also says Progressive policy salvage parts. Parts from the junkyard that are placed on a shelf but not junkyard parts.
Here's where I plug a pondering emoji! Junkyard parts but not junkyard parts? (Worthy of a 3 letter acronym.) The Progressive stated the obvious, if I was not comfortable with this shop I shop choose a different repair shop. And of course I did just that. I found a good and respectable collision repair shop and requested my truck be towed there. Progressive says we already paid for 2 tows so I would have to pay for this one. Well they only paid for one tow so that implies Progressive would honor a 2nd tow especially given this scenario but the Progressive adjuster said I would have to pay for it. Now why did I give this review a 1 star? Because I rate them any lower given this star system. In all seriousness, I am Progressive's paying customer! I paid pay for a professional and fair service! I didn't get that given the following:
1. 4 days to tow.2. No tow truck showed.
3. I had follow and call Progressive for the tow which was never sent by either Progressive or by Progressive's preferred tow company.
4. Tow truck unprepared.
5. Tow truck needs help from customer to load the truck and is rude/condescending to the customer.
6. Progressive uses text verses conversation.
7. Rather than taking care of the customer, Progressive uses text to defend their position. Very sad!
8. The only Progressive option was to tow to a subpar repair shop.
9. Progressive claims to have provide 2 tows which they didn't and then will not move the truck to a different repair shop.
10. Progressive is clearly not taking care of their customer to high standard in this situation.
This is for the reader, all of this above is the icing on the cake after my truck was hit and run on the side of residential neighborhood while the S.D. Sheriffs create a case number mostly for the insurance company. Meanwhile the person was not caught even after running into apartment complex fences and other property. Eye witness says it was a white Honda Civic with California plates having the last characters being 660. An insider states the authorities really are going to investigate this accident. The positive is nobody was hurt and in terms on Progressive's ability to provide good service there's nowhere to go but up! Cheers!

Over a year ago I rolled over my truck hydroplaning on a water puddle on the road doing 63 mph on a 75 mph zone. Damaged a ranch high fence which cost $5200 to repair. Progressive only paid $3200 claiming that the work invoice price was more than the average for the area and that there was no way my truck had caused that much damage. I explained that the because it was a high tensile fence the force of the impact had affected the whole section from one corner to the other, I saw that when the ranch owner pointed it to me so I knew the extent of the damage. I argued that the issue would've been easily resolved if they had sent an adjuster before and after the fence was repaired instead of allocating labor and material prices on their own and pay the claim based on that. His response was "do you realize how much would've cost me to send an adjuster there" (claim supervisor talking).
My response was "do you realize that by you not doing that I have to pay $2000". Only reason I paid was because I had given my word to the ranch owner, whom by the the way, was the most sympathetic and understanding. Stay away from progressive. They rather pay Flo and that other geek thousands of dollars for their stupid commercials than to keep customers happy. I wasn't expecting 100% claim money, but at least a more fair resolution. I dropped them the next day. My advice to you STAY AWAY!!!
