I believe the Insurance company is wonderful unless the other parties involved also have Progressive then you get screwed. I had to pay my deductible for damages after I was rear ended and I was told I couldn't get my deductible back after arbitration. So frustrated and annoyed. I switched to Allstate now. I'm in good hands!!!!

I just paid for 6 months coverage and my policy starts September 6th with Progressive. When I signed up online it told me that I was getting different discounts for different things but it did not give me an itemized list. I signed up for Snapshot but have since decided I will not want it because I drive in a lot of stop-and-go traffic. I've called Progressive twice trying to go ahead and cancel the Snapshot and was told I could not cancel it until the policy takes effect on September 6th. I asked how much the discount is and I've been told no one can tell me that until the policy takes effect when I then am supposed to call in to cancel the snapshot.
I wish all things were stated clearly upfront when totaling the amount of the features I want to get. I was just reading reviews and saw there's a $50 fee for early cancellation. I am looking at other policies but Progressive should state everything clearly and straightforward when you're looking at the options online and include the exact amounts of all discounts, not just some of them.

I bought an older vehicle a year ago. Called my insurance company which was not Progressive and the rate went up almost $600. I then called Progressive and they saved me in excess of $500 for a much better policy. I feel very secure with the insurance coverage I have.

I purchased multi car and home package because they kept sending me flyers in mail as to how much I'd save if I switched. One of my cars is currently being used in Canada by our daughter who is a doctoral student with Laval University. I very clearly told this to the Progressive sales person. He assured me that as long as the car is registered in Maryland, there is no problem. I paid lump sum both for cars and home.
Few days later, when I called Progressive, I was told that they cannot cover the car in Canada. When I argued, they said okay, they will cover for this cycle, but will not renew the policy. Then I was ready to take trip to Canada. I called Progressive and they told me they cannot cover for car in Canada, and gave me a date 2-3 days later. I was packing for the trip next day, and here I was with no coverage in two days. In panic mode, I called Liberty, and purchased the policy with them, paying more than what I was paying to them before. I cancelled the policies with Progressive, and instead of refunding me full money, they prorated the money, and I lost almost over $200 in that. They are irresponsible, unreliable, and uncooperative. I lost almost $500 in this back and forth.

I’ve been using this insurance twice in a period of 4 years but as it happened with all car insurance companies, they increase the rate without reason every time you renew the policy. I’ve never had an accident, and no tickets. That’s the reason I’ve been changing my insurance every year. I don’t do it every 6 months because you always have to have more than a year to get a good rate. They all lies about premium, silver, gold, platinum bla, bla, bla. Thank you guys for your attention but this is the reality. They only give you the better rate to get you in! After that, the game start!

I had National General and they were terrific and cost effective. My son had a moving violation and a major costly accident and they dropped us so we had to get another provider fast. Progressive was the first one we found that would take us because we had an accident within the last 3 years. Sort of stuck with them. Had almost no choice.

I do not recommend using Progressive Auto Insurance. I have been with them for years and always pay my 6 month balance in full. After I complained about how high my quote was a year ago, they lowered it, which made me quite happy, then 6 months ago they had increased the rate by 10 dollars. This time around they increased it by another $20. They seem to count on the fact that some of us may be distracted to turn a profit. Aside from the increase which seems dishonest, they also did not inform me at the last time of purchase that I needed to reject the uninsured motorist part of the plan or I would be charged an additional $22 dollars. Therefore I paid in full for 6 months at $508 and yet that was not the "full price". They claim that they sent me this information via mail, I never received the letters, and that they sent me an email regarding the matter.
The email, I did in fact receive, among all their other spam emails that they send. However, the email they sent said nothing about me having to reject a part of the claim or I would be charged an extra $22 dollars or when the deadline for my rejection would be. Therefore, now they want me to pay another $22 for a part of the claim that I never agreed to and $10 because I did not pay the $22 that I did not agree to nor knew it was part of my service as I had already requested to pay in full. The way I know I paid in full was because I paid the discounted in full amount. There is no other way of putting this but calling it a "bait and switch". I do not recommend for anyone to use this company, I have found a much better deal at Geico, hopefully they will know how retain my business and treat me with the same respect I have offered them.
Reviewed Sept. 1, 2019
I just switched to Progressive from GEICO to save $400 annually. Progressive is surcharging me for a not at fault $0 uninsured motorist who rear ended me at a stoplight claim. GEICO did not surcharge for this event. Even though the cost is less I'm not comfortable with my switch if they did this to me. What happens if I have an actual loss? I have perfect credit and driving record. GEICO took really good care of me and that's why I stayed for more than 15 years. I'll probably go back to GEICO when this policy expires. Sometimes peace of mind is worth a little more money.

We prefer name brand insurance carriers. We learned the hard way that just because an insurance rate is cheaper it doesn't mean the company will be there for you when you need it. This is the first time I have used Progressive insurance, but I do like the online payments, insurance cards, etc. Options of paying ahead are available and the company is well known. So far so good, Progressive Insurance has been a wise choice.

Not only did the representatives not care about what happened to my policy but I had to do all the legwork by making all the necessary phone calls. I believe I am not getting the discounts I am entitled to and I can't get my agent to return a call to me to help me out. When I want to inquire about anything it is easier for me to simply call the corporate office. Why then must I be stuck with an agent that is 3 hours away from me? It makes no sense to me. After having so much back and forth with my adjuster Kendall ** at Walnut Creek California branch I decided to give her a call regarding my settlement. I did initially get an attorney for my case but my ER bill and chiropractic bill were just amounting to 2k. These were the words of my adjuster..."Your accident was nothing to compare to the accidents I have been through. You are making a big deal from this accident and exaggerating your injury. You were in a truck and a sedan hit you. I have been in worse accidents." My truck repair ended up being 3k since there was a significant impact to the rear axle and they had to replace it. I got hit on the rear right of my truck at no fault of mine. Went to the ER after the accident and went to chiropractic visits because I had hurt my back pretty bad. Mind you the funny part is Progressive is my ins and the other party did not have coverage so my uninsured motorist was covering my claim.
The amount of money Progressive spends on their annoying commercials, they should rather spend some money in hiring quality adjusters who at least can show empathy and provide better customer service. Progressive Insurance is not what it claims to be. They do not care about their customer as I had to speak to a manager and no help was provided. Let me explain. I got insured when I purchased a new truck two months ago. Not the right decision since I already had another insurance for my other two cars. This was three months ago and since then my rate change 4 to 5 times. I lost track simply because that's too much. I was never insured of any cancellation fees and when I canceled I canceled the day before I was charged again. But again I was not informed what time frame of when I had to cancel even though I did tell the representative that I would be canceling because of all the rate changes. Very poor customer service when filing a claim. It took over a month for the rep to finally return my call to find out they were just helping out the actual claim specialist covering the case. I was directed to photograph the damaged vehicle on and submit the photos via their website and that their adjusters would process it based on photos only. This was honestly a joke because they were basing physical and mechanical damages only on photos. I asked about reimbursement of my deductible as the accident wasn't my fault and was told I could go collect the accident report myself because that isn't something they handle and submit it to them to collect my deposit from the driver that caused the accident. Overall policy was very costly, horrible customer service when it truly matters, and zero follow through. Not recommended.

I've had them for some time now. We have recently had to file a claim we were hit in the rear. Progressive left it as a 50-50 fault so we have to come out of pocket with a deductible. I refuse to agree with that since we were hit and I did my own investigation. Attempted to give video could not get it. I have gotten statements from Witnesses and have got it overturned and they still would like me to pay my deductible. They have told me I can choose any auto body shop I'd like. They have given me an estimate and the body shop that I chose gave me an estimate as well. There is a big difference and Progressive will not pay the difference. They keep telling me I can choose who I would like but will not pay the difference. So in reality I cannot choose my own body shop. Within 24 hours of installing the device I now have a major electrical problem with my car, BMW mechanics are trying to find the issue. (yeah that's cheap) Come to find out there is a class action lawsuit starting against Progressive for this exact issue.
Then they took it upon themselves to add my 29 year old son who is married lives on his own and has 3 kids (and multiple tickets) to my policy and raise my rate from $98 per month to $660. Best part is they just took it from no proper notification. And Now I have to deal with trying to prove he doesn't drive my car. Joke of a company. I was with Progressive for way over 10 years. In the past 18 months they have increased my premiums 3 times for NO REASON! Over 10% increase! I just called their customer service (I emailed them before as well), and asked why they have increased my rates. I ALWAYS pay on time, no accidents, no tickets, no change of address, no change in cars, NO changes whatsoever. The representative told me that it’s because of the increased number of claims in my state?!! So, I asked her if there is a way to see the number of claims, or if there is any public information that could confirm her statement. She said “NO”. And when I asked her that her statement means that I have to pay for other people bad driving, she said “YES”.
She wasn’t compassionate about my concerns and when I Googled why would they do that to me, this is what comes up: “Unfortunately, Progressive Auto Insurance is known for raising its rates on unsuspecting long-term customers.” I’m very busy with my work, and family, but unfortunately, have to start looking for a new insurance company.

I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. I got with Progressive because they lured me in with a low rate around $45 per month for my car insurance. By the time they were done I was at $90 for a car I never drive (2000 miles a year). I was encouraged to carry premiums I didn’t need. That’s on me for being suckered in. But really, please remember this. A good business will always serve YOUR interests. And genuinely consider YOUR circumstances. So after about a year of being reamed paying about double what I needed. I decided not to renew my policy.
And get this... I found a policy with the same amount of coverage for $40 per month that I was paying Progressive $90 to cover! Who was it? AAA auto insurance. I was surprised and yet not. So many large corporations are so driven by profit they intentionally extort their customers. But you already know this. Just look around. Their all falling like flies because you reap what you sow. Anyway, I failed to contact Progressive to formally cancel my policy. They Auto Renewed it and continued to draft my auto payments. DO NOT SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT TO AUTO PAY WITH ANY COMPANY! So yep, they continued to attempt to draft my account after the term had ended and I had AAA coverage.
So here’s where I’d get foul. I caught an overdraft charge from my bank. It was this that alerted me that I have to call and CANCEL MY POLICY formally. I had in my head that if I didn’t renew it formally it would automatically cancel. Duh! So I sucked it up. That was my fault. But then after contacting them. Formally cancelling the account. And after the agent went through everything. I was due a credit of $76. That was normal. You pay the first and last month of your policy when you sign up. So I get the adjustment. But then after I CANCELLED my policy I get another overage charge from my bank from Progressive attempting to draft payment FOR A CLOSED ACCOUNT!
At no time while speaking to the customer service representative did he inform me of outstanding charges or that the auto pay was still active and advise me. As I stated earlier, he told me I was DUE A CREDIT. So when I called and asked for compensation for 1 of 2 of the overage charges they said it wasn’t their fault. But did admit that it was negligent not to tell me how their system processes payments and that a declined payment will run again several days later, EVEN AFTER YOU CALL IN AND CANCEL THE POLICY AND THE AGENT REVIEWS YOUR POLICY STATUS TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE A CREDIT OR NOT. Now this is a simple accounting process requiring adding and subtraction.
Moreover we are in the AI tech/information age. Why do these BS NON-REAL TIME systems even exists? They have to be by design and not necessity and provide opportunities for corporate extortion. Which is what has happened to me. So after raising this fuss. And proving my points that they shouldn’t have been attempting to draft my account AFTER the cancellation even if it was in the pipeline to try and get payment for THE AUTO RENEWAL, the customer resolution person named Carol insisted that it was my failure and there was no way to know that my bank didn’t honor the payment as usual. (What!!!? Are you kidding me.). And that “the system” is the only one that could see this. I was floored by the condescension. My phone died after 35 minutes of this debate about ethics and accountability and fundamentals of technology and accounting. So it gets worse.
This morning guess who sends me a bill and a firm threat!? Progressive. It read something like this. After reviewing your police AFTER CANCELLATION, you actually owe US $110. (For what Progressive? Oh yeah - The balance for the initial $175 you at attempted to charge me to RENEW MY POLICY!).... and you need to pay it immediately or else we will send it to collections. Nice. Gangster. And corporate. This pushback because I made a solid point is classic. So I’m exhausted by Progressive’s behavior and quite honestly disappointed to see a company go to this extent to extort it’s dissatisfied customers. I didn’t have any claims with this company. I just paid the bill for a year. And when I decide to leave. This is what they do.
So now I have to explain how paying this bill would be extortion and they BS me with something about the policy wasn’t closed so I owe them. ALL AFTER THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED ON AUG 6 with a $76 credit AND I HAD NEW COVERAGE. Incredible. Who paying me for the time I’ve already spent or will spend trying to correct this simple **? Nobody. They get paid to argued with me about what should be clear to an ethical mind. Just another example of corporate greed and systems put in place to take advantage of customers who HAVE TO HAVE This product by law if they want to drive lawfully. And a good reason why America is in decline and business is failing left and right. Long-standing businesses have all but abandoned their notion of empathy ethics while conducting business with their fellow man. They push to hurt you and don’t do the right thing when they are held to task.
That leads to class action lawsuits and loss of jobs and bankruptcies. Seen the news lately? It’s happening all over. I explained that this should not have happened because I KNOW IT'S HAPPENED BEFORE. All business has repeat issues. That the agent who canceled my policy and promised me a credit on the 6th must have deliberately neglected to inform me of how the system works or missed something. Either way the onus is on them. But no. Not only am I gonna pay my bank an overage... Progressive demands back pay for a policy that ended August 1st because autopay didn’t get to the money after two tries. Not because I genuinely owe them anything.
I asked, "what if I had an accident 1 day after the August 6 cancellation and called in for he claim on this cancelled account? Would you honor it?" I got silence. The obvious answer: "Of course not." So, Why do I now owe you money Progressive? I paid for a year and had no claims. Cancelled the policy. Was owed a credit, but now I owe you!? For what exactly? I mean really? What have you given me after the fact? So, DO NOT USE PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE! Beware. This company is unethical. If it weren’t it would see how outrageous their system is and how it is a disservice under these kinds of recurring circumstances which they fail to fix on their end or inform on ours (the customers end). Good luck!

After having multiple vehicles covered with Progressive for over five years, I notified them to correct a VIN number. I was hit with an increase in rates and contacted them to inquire about the increase. The ‘customer service’ agent told me he was doing me a favor taking back only one month as he could have taken it back to January. (Is that a threat?) If he was going to use that logic, he would need to take the change in price back to when I purchased the car. It just went downhill from there. I felt like I was being charged to correct their mistake and their horrible, juvenile minded customer service agent was the icing on the cake.
I secured other car insurance and of course when I called to cancel my coverage with Progressive, they wanted to just do anything to keep me as a customer. Uh, no, you didn’t or I wouldn’t have talked to three people about this issue for over a week TO CORRECT PROGRESSIVE’S MISTAKE. Now to wait 5 days for the refund of my policy. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for insurance. It’s all dandy until there’s a problem and then, it’s like you work for them.

I was hit by a truck towing another truck. The police report clearly states that the other driver in the truck being towed was at fault. Unfortunately, the guy in the truck being towed had no car insurance. Apparently the police nor Progressive find any fault in the guy who was towing the other truck at fault. Anyways, I reported the accident with Progressive because I needed my car fixed asap. That being said, they took my $1000 deductible out of the worth of my car. They said it would be recovered later via subrogation. It's now been almost 11 months and no money has been recovered. Progressive says they will exhaust efforts to collect the money at the 1 year mark. Progressive sucks. I paid over $200 a month for full coverage insurance. You'd think for having to be that kind of money, the least they could do was make a real effort to recover my deductible since I wasn't even at fault.

I was the victim of a “staged auto accident” in North Charleston, SC on December 14,2017. I was exiting a gas station into three lanes of traffic stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Rivers and Remount Rd. The first vehicle saw that I was trying to enter the street and stopped, The vehicle in the second lane also stopped. The vehicle in the third lane stopped. I was stopped broadside in the third lane waiting for the light to change when the third vehicle drove forward and hit the door behind the driver’s side door on my 2008 Saab Combi Station wagon.
My thought at that moment was that this was either intentional or the driver was distracted in some way and took their foot off the brake. I got out of my car and approached the other car. The driver's side window rolled down and I could see what I thought at the time was a woman talking very aggressively on a cell phone. There were also 3 other passengers in the car. None of them said a word. There were no complaints of injury.
I inspected my car but did not see the damage in the lower door panel. It was 5:30 PM, a rainy night. North Charleston is a neighborhood where the crime rate is three times the national average and the homicide rate is greater than Chicago on a per capita basis. I decided not to exchange papers in the middle of this busy intersection and drove down the street approx. 100 yards to an open Auto Parts store with a lighted parking lot. The driver of the other car did not follow me. However he took my license plate number and reported the accident as a “head-on collision” and reported that he and his three passengers all sustained bodily injury. Progressive Insurance paid him and his three friends over $21,000.
If you are somehow connected to the “Progressive Group” I want to speak with you about getting a “letter of explanation” from Progressive. I have three times emailed the Claims Inspector Danielle ** and I have three time emailed the CEO Of Progressive Tricia Griffith.... I have left a complaint with the NCIB and I will continue to complain about these “Staged Accidents” until something is done about them. This is a national epidemic and rather than express any outrage the easy solution is for Progressive to pay the fraudulent claim… then argue that a statewide increase in rates is necessary but also enter this “accident” as a black mark against my driving record so now my wife and I pay over $700 more per year for auto insurance. I want a “letter of explanation” submitted to me so that I can give it to AAA and get my rates lowered.

The insurance company is refusing to pay the $1700 difference between the used engine they found somewhere and the engine that my manufacturer requires. This will nullify my warranty (unlimited miles through 2022) AND flag my car as not having the proper engine, so it will be worth nothing. Also will not be able to go to the dealer for service and what would have been free will cost me money.
They told me they aren't putting the required engine in because they don't have to. They don't care that the value of the car will be zero and the dealer will no longer work on the car AND that what work I should be able to have done for free as part of my warranty, will now cost me. That seems counter-intuitive for an insurance company who says they protect their customers. They care about MONEY, not people. Also, was told multiple conflicting stories every time I talked to them. Do yourself a favor and go with a company whose premium may be a little higher but who cares about its customers.

We had a hail storm on 7/19/19. We have had Progressive insurance since 2003. I called within an hour or so after hail storm. We had six vehicles all damages, windshields out and rear windows completely gone (literally baseball size hail) and lots of dents. The young lady I spoke with (very sweet) was not prepared to take care of 6 claims, a lot of cutting and pasting on her end.
30 minutes later, she said someone would call, she could not help because of the number of claims. I get not call back, so on 7/22/19 I call them back, 20 minutes later, again with the cutting and pasting, I am told that a supervisor will have to handle this and someone will call back. No one calls back so I call back on 7/23/19 (please understand the two vehicles we can drive, we probably shouldn't be) so I get another customer service person, not a supervisor but she can take my statement and schedule a time for the adjuster to come out. Which wasn't until 7/30/19 for three of the cars and 7/31/19 for the other three (very frustrated and confused). I should mention that every time I spoke to someone at Progressive they thanked me for being an Emerald member.
So on 7/24/19 when my claim rep. calls me I let him know that I didn't feel like a emerald member and was very frustrated with this process. He told me that he was part of the catastrophic incident team and that there was a lot of people affected. I was thinking you are an insurance company and this is what you do. He told me that if I had any questions or concerns he was my contact person. I had also told Progressive on my first call that all calls and contact was to go to me. Wife busy and works a lot.
So on 7/31/19 my wife forwards me a text she have received from Progressive saying, "We have been trying to reach you about your claim, please call this number." So I call the number. Whoever answered took my info and put me on hold, came back and said they had to transfer me to someone else, that person takes info and I am on hold and tells me, they have to transfer me to someone else (omg). I am then transferred to my claim representative.... I tell him that I have just been transferred twice just to get to him. He then tells me "I told you I was your contact." I said then why did they text my wife. He was a little abrupt with me and said, "Well we only have all the info on one of the cars that was a total loss, but most people rather wait till we have all info." I said ok.
So now we are on 8/2/19. No call back. I called my rep and left message, in all fairness he doesn't work on Friday, (works Sun-Thur) but I think I should have had a call on Thursday. So on Sunday still no call, I call, leave message and he calls me back a little later. We go over all the info up to that point, believe it or not they are still waiting for info on one of the cars. I get the info, money offering on the total loss cars, etc. Tell him I have to talk to my wife.
When I call him back to tell our decisions, I question the valuation on one of the vehicles and I am told that their basis for that value is based on two similar vehicles. I said, "That is kind of a small sample size," he said we that might be a small size, no that "is" a small sample size to base value on and BTW this is a 2011 Dodge Charger police model, hardly an exotic brand/model. Well still waiting on one almost three weeks after the fact. Needless to say when this is settled I now have to shop for car and homeowners insurance. Anyone have any suggestions??? I never rant like this but 16 years and we have never had less than four vehicles insured.... I expected a little more. Nils.

Worst insurance EVER!!!! Do not, I repeat, do not go through them. I had full coverage on my vehicle, was hit Head on In a hit & run. Progressive investigated for FOUR months, held my car hostage, didn’t Pay the claim. Thennnn, decided to say it was an at fault accident. Accused me of fraudulent activity, because of the fact they’re saying it was a front to rear accident. Which there was and progressive was well aware of that months prior of this accident and THAT was due to THEIR insured driver who left their car in reverse and backed into my front end vehicle which caused my hood to not close properly, which they refused to pay that claim also!!!
And now I have an accident on my record, being charged a ** ton of money for insurance now AND I had full coverage. They didn’t fix or replace anything!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Being insured with progressive has been a nightmare. Now this BS is affecting my credit score. I am writing this review based off of an accident I had in 2016. I purchased this insurance because GEICO went up on me claiming that there were a lot of claims happening in my area. (As this was my fault!) To make a long story short, I had reinstated an old policy with them and didn’t know that my ex husband had taken me off of the policy. So if that was the case, then why was I allowed to make changes to the policy, take off two other cars and just add mine? They took all of my information, had my bank routing number and took out the money from my account. So I had a wreck, then they wouldn’t pay it because I wasn’t on the policy! Well DUUUH! Somebody should have been able to see that from their computer.

When I called to explain that my son had insurance and my youngest had no license and wasn't driving, I was told that their policy is anyone in the house that turns 16 is added to your policy. I told them they snuck that document in and was told that "this is their policy and they understand that it's a lot to read but that's how they do it". UNETHICAL! First, with a totaled MB low blue booked at 28k, but the car was mint condition and low mileage. Progressive offered less than 10k for it. I had to argue with them about the low ball value they put on it even though we were paying for a policy to cover a value of 30k. Progressive was even argumentative about the medical part, and finally I had enough and hired an Ambulance chaser attorney. Those jerks at Progressive settled with the Attorney for amounts we were originally asking for, in two days. I was pissed they wouldn't work directly with us without having to hire an Attorney. After that my daughter went to the hospital to get checked out, The next time the adjuster called and said that there is a problem with my policy for as the cars that is on the policy being registered to my address the policyholder.
At this point they didn’t even look at the police report. They have not looked at the car and it’s been going on for five months now. They wait in for investigation mold over the address of a car. Now they calling me about all the information letters address is Leison plate’s bank statement picture of mail with my name on it that comes to my house. They want me to send it all to them. Again they still haven’t looked at the car, read the police report or even got the car out of in pound which is as of today accumulated about $1200. Why they do this investigation.
When you call that office and leave a message they will never return your calls. One time they call back four days later. This had been going on for five weeks now. I thought Progressive Insurance Company was better than this. It seems like a mom and pop shop. It is terrible. I have had nothing but problems since the accident so now I am still waiting for them to determine if they going to cover the car. I’ll cancel my policy. If anybody reading this make sure you dot your I and cross your t's because if you're making a claim the first thing they will do is try to find a way out of it.
I recommend going with someone else besides this company. Cheaper isn’t always better. Check the rating on this company. I didn’t and now I’m paying for it. Now it’s bad when you I have to call 1-800 Progressive to get somebody to instant message them to get on the phone to talk to you. That’s how I kept in contact with them clowns. Although Progressive Insurance has good roadside service, their overall performance is really bad. I had a young man tell me when my windshield was broke that I was covered. I went and told my neighbor who was in the business to please replace it and they sent me a referral number. The referral Number came from Safelight who does their windshields and she said it will be pending until she heard from progressive. I wouldn’t got it done and was not worried because I was told I was covered. I was referred finally to a man named Gary office of CEO who was very arrogant and said even though I had my phone bills for proof that I have called them and was okayed, he said they’ll look into it but they doubt very much they’ll find anything. Then I went to Heather, CEO representative. She also lied to me and said she was going to take care of it because of the way it was handled and there was something wrong and I never heard from her again.
I will have this company one more month. I have picked out another one. The care and customer Service at progressive is absolutely horrible and now I am out over $200 because of their mistake. I hate this company. I hate being treated like that and lied to. Please there has to be another insurance company for you to go to. I heard Farmers was good. All I know is I never want this experience again. These people are just greedy and mean. I will hate every commercial that put out. Their first offer was insulting. I spent many hours researching what options cost and comparable vehicles. My adjuster could not answer simple questions I had on how they came up with their figures. He said they turn it over to JD Powers and he didn’t know their algorithm. I could figure it out and it cheated us out of money at every turn. They actually deduct adjusted seller price and he told me no one pays list. We did when we bought because our vehicle has limited inventory.
All in all it was a terrible experience and I can only imagine how many people get totally taken advantage of. I got them to come up 850 dollars. That didn’t even pay for the 1000 tires that we had just put on. Just be prepared for your low ball offer. Have homeowners with Hartford and I cannot tell you the difference in handling claims. I currently have three vehicles insured by Progressive, as well as a home and my son has a vehicle insured by Progressive. I experienced a chipped windshield on 03/17/19, and had the chip repaired by a glass company on the 25th of that same month. I also had the glass in a patio table repaired by that same company that same day, and received a separate receipt for each of the repairs, paying for each of the repairs at that time. I contacted Progressive Insurance/ASI Insurance (Auto Claims) on 04/01/19 and was instructed to submit a copy of the receipt which I did, faxing it and a cover sheet to Policy Holder Reimbursement and while doing so listed my policy number and the vehicle vin# to the receipt as instructed. I checked online on the status of my claim later that month and discovered that it was not listed.
I chatted online with a Progressive representative on 05/01/19 and determined that a claim had yet to be filed. That individual, Jennifer stated that their records did not indicate having received a receipt for repairs. She at that time asked that I once again fax the receipt to that same location, which I did the following day. I inadvertently sent the wrong receipt this time, and as a result sent another cover sheet and the correct receipt later that same day, including a note that said to disregard the earlier submitted receipt as it was incorrect. I checked online on 05/24/19 and noted a claim had been filed though it had yet to be paid, so I once again called Progressive. I spoke to various individuals from Progressive and later Safeco, Progressive's glass repair company at that time. They stated that they were "confused" as to what I was seeking reimbursement for as that had two receipts.
I explained the error, and once again sent them a copy of the correct receipt and a cover sheet, and at that time included the claim number to the receipt as instructed. I received an email message later that day saying that the claim had been forwarded for reimbursement. I checked the status of my claim on 06/24/19 as I had yet to be reimbursed, and at that time noticed that the claim was still "open" and had yet to be paid. I called Progressive once again and confirmed that the claim had yet to be paid even though it was a month since my last contact with them. I was placed on hold, and later reconnected to an individual who confirmed "nothing" had been done with the claim during the last month. That individual stated that she was too was confused as to what I was seeking as their records reflect two separate receipts, one for a windshield repair and another for a patio table glass replacement.
I once again explained the situation regarding the receipts and reemphasized my attempt to obtain reimbursement for the windshield repair, a mere $50.00 payment. She advised me that a check for $50.00 would be mailed, and that I should receive it in five to seven business days. I question my decision to obtain vehicle and home insurance coverage with Progressive, and will most likely seek coverage for my vehicle, as well as my son's vehicle and our home thru another carrier as a result of this situation, and their, Progressive's failure to act. It will have taken over three months by the time I obtain payment if it is truly received in five to seven business days.
I wonder what I would have to do, and how long it would take to settle a claim for a major/more expensive repair if it takes more than three months for this repair, a chipped windshield. It appears that you get what you pay for. I obtained coverage with Progressive last year as they offered the same coverage at a lower price than what I had previously obtained from another insurance carrier. Once again, think before you act, sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side.

Which I scanned and sent. 2 days later I got an email not confirming rather to take photos of my car (for a liability only policy). So I did and sent the photos. 2 days later I received another email asking for copies of my existing auto policy as well as proof of residency. I provided those and sent it in then two days later I received another email saying the credentials I sent do not match the application. Which they did exactly.
I then called Progressive only to speak with an operator who said, "There's nothing I can do. The system won't accept any operator input." I have to email. This is been going on now for over a month. Someone that had Progressive Insurance rear ended my car, and initially they sent a check for the damages right away, no problem but when I had to do a supplement, they sent out the check to the shop 3 different times and over a month and they never got it till finally the shop drove to pick it up, then I had to do a 3rd supplement because they didn’t include electrical components in the first check or the supplement, so the field agent promised to look at my car Wednesday or Thursday while I get a rental.
Finally I get a voice mail from my field agent saying she finally looked at my car Monday of the next week. The day she called was Wednesday of the next week. I tried calling the field agent multiple times, and it was almost like she disappeared, then I returned my rental only to find out that progressive didn’t cover 1 week of the rental which charged me 180$, just for my car to wait on their slow, inadequate, not professional, shady, field agent. I've dealt with other insurance companies before, and no company is as bad as Progressive. They do a bad job and handle your claim as slow as possible. It really makes you think that they be like this on purpose. I’m currently still in dispute about this.

Watch out if you deal with Progressive; I paid my bill early, and then discovered much more cost effective insurance. I cancelled my policy prior to the due date of the insurance; and Progressive decided to charge me a 10% penalty! If I had not paid my bill early, I would not have been charged anything. When I asked why, the Progressive agent stated "because we can." These predatory people are taking advantage of other simply because they can.

I have never had so many issues with an insurance company in the 17 years I've been driving! I have a clean driving record (accident free and ticket free for over 5 years) and I received a decent quote from Progressive so I decided to switch. The first DAY I signed up, I gave them my banking info to run the payment and two weeks later it never processed! Then I get an email telling me my policy is cancelled! I called them to clear this issue up and still to this day, I don't know what happened because it processed the second time! I literally copied and pasted my banking numbers so I KNOW IT WASN'T AN ERROR ON MY END.
Then this month (I just signed up the first week of May), I get another email telling me my policy is cancelled again for banking issues (they haven't even run my second payment yet because it's due tomorrow!!) and for a "roadside assistance" claim where my dog locked me out of my car, but I was able to get her to roll the window down so THE CLAIM WAS CANCELLED!!!! NEVER EVEN USED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND I AM TOLD IT WAS TOO EARLY OF A CLAIM!! I haven't made any claims on any insurance policy in over five freaking years and because I call for roadside, NOT EVEN AN ACCIDENT CLAIM, they want to cancel my policy?!?!
I have never been so ENRAGED with a company in my life!! I will keep this stupid crap until I can find a better quote and then they will be without a good driving customer!!!! Horrible treatment, horrible customer appreciation, and HORRIBLE insurance rules!!!! So now I have to wait 2-3 business days in order to find out whether or not I will have insurance because they have to send it off stating I did not ever use the roadside claim, but if they don't accept that, then I have less than 6 days to find new insurance!!!! SCREW YOU PROGRESSIVE and I will make sure NO ONE I KNOW does business with your company!

I had Progressive for years and was very happy with them initially. To their credit, they were always very easy to deal with and even told me, without my having to ask or push for it, that I was not at fault when my car was damaged in a construction zone, so I didn't have to pay anything. Later, though, things started going downhill with them. First, I put up with their annoying driving monitor plugged into my car, beeping at me every time I braked "hard" (and it really didn't take much), which in the end made me a less safe driver because I started preferring to go through intersections when I'd typically stop at them (light just about to turn red or even just turned red) just to keep it from registering a hard brake.
It was also collecting much more information than just braking, which wasn't disclosed (it may have been in the fine print, but I digress). Anyways, despite taking extreme efforts to minimize "hard" brakes and dealing with the annoying beeping for months, I was told simply that I didn't qualify for any discounts from it. That annoyed me, and made me wonder if it was more about just collecting data than assessing driving habits for possible discounts--I say this not only due to my experiences, but reading similar statements by many others online at the time--but it wasn't enough to drive me away.
What did that was when my car was backed into, while parked, without me even in it, by a family member. I called Progressive and notified them of it (big mistake), but then told them to cancel the claim because the other insurance company was going to cover both cars. Despite the fact Progressive never paid a single cent toward repairs, and I wasn't even in the car at the time, they took away my good driver discount. Unfortunately, I didn't notice for months, so it ended up costing quite a bit of money. And they refused to do anything about it. So I switched and will never go back.
They lost a several year customer over something that frankly should be (and maybe is) illegal. I'm torn between 1 and 2 stars for them. I considered 2 due to the years of excellent service, but ultimately the level of dishonesty, to the point of possibly being illegal, that they engaged in, is just too much to give them anything but the lowest rating possible.

I searched for affordable rates to cover my car. I’ve been with GEICO for years and love them but since I am a senior citizen on a very limited income, every penny counts. Progressive gave me full coverage for a rate that was $75 cheaper (per 6 month period - $12.50/mo). The bill for 6 months was $481. So I went with them. Six weeks later (yesterday morning), I received an email that said I had a bill due with them for $863!!! Due in 2 weeks. WHAT!!??
I stopped everything to look into this - wasting 6 hrs of valuable work time, to find out that they had added my 2 children (age 20 & 18) and also my ex-husband, who I divorced 3 yrs ago and do not see or speak to. So I spent the next several hours trying to prove to Progressive that I was divorced (I had to email them my Divorce Decree!!) and that my 20 yr old does not, and never did, live with me! My 18-yr old lives with me part time and all I could do with him was sign an “exclusion.” But still had to pay the prorated amount up to today.
I sent the Divorce Decree (humiliating and difficult to even look at - still grieving!!) and took care of the 18 yr old issue. The 20 yr old was a different issue. To prove he didn’t live with me they needed 2 items from a short list they provided. His driver's license is one thing but it HAD TO BE ISSUED WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS or it doesn’t count. They wanted things like a utility bill, mortgage or rental agreement - none of which applies to him because he is a full time college student (currently on summer break - today is 6/12/19) who lives with his dad. All of the household bills are in his dad’s (my ex’s) name!! They would take a college tuition bill but he has to be CURRENTLY ENROLLED!!! He’s on summer break!!
A W-2 or 1099 would work - but he doesn’t work for anyone. The only other things were Property Tax statements or Social Security statements. I talked to 3 people at Progressive and they do NOT budge on this list. It has to be from the list!! No exceptions. Every day that goes by that I cannot resolve this, I am paying $7.50. I live on a very low, fixed income. I had no other choice but to stop everything and handle this. The final verdict was, they credited my ex-husband’s charge (because divorce decree), stopped currently charging me 18 yr old, and nothing could be done about the 20 yr old. I canceled my policy at 12am the next day - went back to GEICO (who were surprised at my story and suggested I file a complaint to the TX Board of Insurance (I am) - and my $75 savings ended being $526 overcharge.
My advice - NEVER, EVER, EVER GO WITH PROGRESSIVE!!! Can you imagine what they would be like if you had an accident and really needed them to pay??? They probably wouldn’t because “you weren’t wearing blue shoes” or something as ridiculous as that. I am filing a complaint with the TX Board of Insurance, the TX Attorney General’s Office, the BBB, and anyone else I can think of. To put that much stress on a senior citizen is cruel!! $863 is 45% of my monthly budget.

BEWARE OF PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE: I have been with Progressive Insurance for almost 20 years. Someone hit my car while it was parked at Great Adventurers. I contacted Progressive to file a claim. My claims adjuster Lucas asked me did I want a check or get my car repaired. I told him I want my car repaired. I took my car to Park Place Lexus Body Werks in Grapevine, TX last Thursday. The body shop warned me, "Progressive might offer you a "After Market Part" to replace your bumper." I told the service guy no way... I do not have an after market part on my car so I am not getting an after market part.
June 7th spoke with Lucas my claims adjuster and sure enough he told me Progressive was going to put an after market part to replace my back bumper. I told him no as well. I have since escalated my issue and everyone keeps telling me Progressive has the right to offer an after market part to save costs. The cost difference is $160 which Progressive said I could pay. Why should I have to pay for this expense when I have insurance. Nowhere in my policy does it state I am "required" to have an after market part. Progressive you make millions of dollars and you will not give me a "factory bumper"?
I am very upset. My car is just sitting at the body shop waiting for me to decide if I want my car repaired or not. I have called Doyle ** Manager over Lucas and Chris. Just waiting for him to call me back. This is ridiculous I have to go thru this. Progressive I hope you see this post and remedy the situation. I've been a Progressive Insurance customer since 2009. Initially I held only an auto policy for our vehicles, later adding a homeowners policy in 2016 when we purchased a new home. We had one small auto claim (less than $3,000) after a backing incident involving one of our cars, and a family member's car on our property, and we've never filed a claim against our homeowners policy. Our auto policy has been on an automatic bank draft since the policy started, and has been paid on time every month for over 10 years. Our Homeowners policy is escrowed, and has also been paid on time when due. All in all, I have had great service, reasonable rates as compared with other companies I had received quotes from, and was never left with any concerns or complaints.
In March 2019 my mortgage was transferred to another company. We have never missed a mortgage payment, and conservatively speaking we were on time with roughly 95% of our payments. What few late mortgage payments there were, they were never more than 14 days overdue. Life's circumstance sometimes put us all a little behind. My monthly mortgage statement for June, 2019 showed an increase in my monthly mortgage payment of $215.11 due to a projected "escrow shortage". A closer look at the escrow statement showed that our Insurance premium was listed at $2,563.00, which is nearly double the previous few year's amounts of $1,340.
Initially I assumed the new mortgage servicer had made an error when determining the amount of our yearly insurance premium, however after speaking with Progressive customer service I quickly found out my mortgage company did indeed have the correct premium amount, and that Progressive underwritten by Homesite had nearly doubled my homeowner's premiums. As expected I was taken back quite a bit by the news, as I do not live in an area that is prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, etc., and again have never filed a homeowners claim. What in the world could have caused my premiums to nearly double?
My credit report. Now without getting too personal, I have had some issues with repayment on my Federal Student Aid loans, which are now being garnished from my wages. Despite the fact my Fed loans are being repaid, and despite the fact I have never had any issues making on time payments to Progressive on either my home or auto policies, my homeowner's policy has doubled.
When asked why there was such a dramatic increase it was explained to me that they conduct annual reviews of customer credit reports, and my credit history makes me a "risk". They have used my credit history to stereotype my behavior, stating for instance "people with credit history problems, are less likely to maintain their homes responsibly" for example "not making necessary repairs or replacements to a roof". The entire thought process behind this boggles my mind, infuriates me, and makes me wonder if it's even legal.

Do you randomly collect stranger's insurance info? Do you then commit insurance fraud by reporting false claims? Because Progressive insurance claims and adjusters must believe this is quite common. Progressive conveniently believe their driver (who hit my car as I was driving my young daughter to practice) when he simply said he didn't hit us. He said this after he backed into my vehicle, got out of his car (because when you're NOT in an accident you stop reversing, pull back into your spot, get out of your car, and approach the driver of the car you DIDN'T hit?). The damage on my car magically appeared the same day he hit us, and on the same day, he also got out of his car and walked up to a complete stranger and handed me his insurance card, which I took a photo of.
So the lesson? When you hit someone, just lie and say you didn't. Progressive doesn't want to pay anyway, so lying is convenient for them. The police wouldn't come to the accident because it was in a parking lot. My insurance company will investigate and hopefully recover the money, but it will take months. This despite a plethora of evidence that their client hit me. The man simply removed the hitch from his truck. So the "experienced" adjuster concluded the damage wasn't consistent with the height of his bumper. I never post on this kind of forum, but the dishonesty is so blatant I thought others should be aware. The Progressive claims agent is named Joy **, so if you ever deal with her be skeptical as she is eager to help Progressive rip people off.

Had paid one month premium to Progressive, notified them I was cancelling policy after having it for just one week, thinking I would be entitled for small refund regarding the three weeks of the insurance that I would not be using. (All other insurance companies that I have ever had refund excess premiums prepaid when policies are cancelled or changed, but not Progressive.)
They claim they are entitled to 10% of the premiums due had I had the policy for six months, not 10% of the monthly premium I already prepaid. My wife and I have been with Progressive for our auto insurance for the past 13 years (all in Oregon), first for our Honda, and for our 2012 Prius for the past 4 years. We recently received a non-renewal notice and were told it was because we had 3 claims in the past 3 year. Those claims were all from other people: one was from a BMW owner whose bumper I tapped at about 1 mph in stop and go traffic, one was from a truck owner whose truck was parked illegally on a narrow road and I clipped his side mirror (but did not break it) avoiding oncoming traffic, and the third was someone who rear-ended me in a parking lot. I called several times, asked to appeal the decision, and spoke to a supervisor, all with the same result. They said they don't care who was at fault, nor the amount of the claim (all three together totaled less than $3,000); they only count the number of claims and that was too many.
The previous 10 years didn't matter, nor did who was at fault, nor did the amount. And the "review" process was literally me asking them to review it and them coming back to me and saying, "We reviewed it and our decision stands"; i.e. no evidence or argument was presented, they just "reviewed" and saw there were 3 claims in 36 months. The oldest of those 3 will be more than 3 years old TWO WEEKS after what would've been our renewal date. I guess if you never have to file a claim, Progressive is great, but if you want to be listened to at all or treated as a valued customer, no. Soon thereafter I paid for an up to date certified driving record from the MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration). Maryland is the only state for which I have a valid driver's license. Therefore, it is the only information that can be obtained properly for which all quotes would be based after!
After reviewing the driving record it showed 0 points. Therefore, Progressive had wrongly quoted me for the insurance because they had falsified the information. I went ahead and contacted the 3rd party broker to clarify the wrong information that was given on the quote to see if the quote could be adjusted properly. Until this day, they have yet to respond. That is a poor way of doing business and I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Talked to a Progressive rep about why I'd gotten a C- on my snapshot review and found that if you drive your car more than about 30 miles a day, your driving is looked at as a negative. I live about 30 miles from a city that is large enough to have stores I shop at. I took a trip to see my son and his family and that's 530 miles one-way. I have a farm that is 75 miles one-way and I make a trip over there about once a month. So basically if you drive your car any distance over 30 miles a day or want to take it on trips, forget about using snapshot to save money on your Progressive insurance.

I was persuaded by great rates... Turns out you get what you pay for. $2500 discrepancy between what the collision repair shop wants and what Progressive will pay. It's been nearly three weeks, my rental car benefit is nearly exhausted and neither side will budge. Progressive: "You can pay for it out of your pocket." Me: "That's what I pay YOU for." Progressive can't even get me a list of repairs they won't pay. "You can get that from the collision shop." I've requested this three times. They say I'll have it tomorrow. I've heard that before. Don't use Progressive... They are everything but.

Progressive agent has spoke to all parties yet trying not to pay for claim and state instead they are going to breach policyholder contract to keep from paying. One insurance agent had first said they are held liable. Now another agent that handles bodily injury does not want accept liability. They would not even get police report and I had to which they now have.

That's $120 yearly which is outrageous. It is not another 6 months, no accidents, no claims, & they have the gall to raise it another $2.50 monthly. I do not recommend them. We had Geico prior & they never raised rates more than about $1 monthly.

The tow truck left without waiting for me, so I ended up not using their service. They charged me already and I submitted a reimbursement request, THEY DENIED IT! Excuse me???? Was homeless/jobless, pregnant with twins for 1 year so after taking the bus and saving yesterday 4/13/2019 I bought my vehicle straight cash $6k. Not only did I do that but I bought my home. I purchased insurance and that was that, so I thought. When I woke up at 4 am to get ready for work I walked outside around 5:25 am to start my car. My vehicle was vandalized and as I attempted to drop my twins off the car gave out.
I was treated so badly by claims representatives LACINA **. They refused to honor the rental I only needed for 48 hrs to ensure I can get to work. It’s disturbing because I wasn’t going to my insurance to pay for the damage. Total damage ended up being a estimated $3000 that I was paying for strictly out of pocket. I canceled my policy. I will never do business with! Today was a nightmare. Over a two day total cost of $80 you lost a customer... Progressive Auto Insurance ripped me off. I asked them to cancel me for a vehicle I was paying insurance for and they never did cancel the policy on the 25th of March like I asked them to. Instead charged me for another month of April 2019 figured the vehicle was still being drove when I said it wasn't told them on the phone it wasn't and still added a late charge to the bill of $10 dollars. Then sent the bill to a bill collector to collect money from me after charging with a late fee stacked on top of that 1 month. later. Then threatened me about the mvd going after me for penalties for no reason that I do not owe or know. I have great credit and always have for 32 yrs.
Progressive threatened or tried to ruin it/my credit cause I canceled their policy and the manager Scott looked up the wrong recording of that conversation we had on the phone cancellation on the 25th. Common sense said it would be the last call I served. Why would I have anything else to do with you when you treated me that way. Why would it be looked up on Feb 4th? You can't get on over on me.
Karma is real. We live in a world where common sense is less common. Figure...instead of how much money you can get out of it or excellent customers. You should not lie to the customers and please make sure you send notifications to the right address before you cause more problems that you caused. After all of their supposed discounts you still get charged an arm an a leg because in order to get covered for getting a flat tire or replacing the crack window of the front of the car they expect YOU to pay more and THEM less. So the less you want to pay the higher your insurance. Forget about getting full coverage HA. Even with good driving record, discounts and years of loyalty would still come out to roughly 350 a month. They don’t care about you. Only the money you're going to give up. They conveniently leave out information about their snap shot as well. Let's say you don’t want to continue on with the snap shot program there is a penalty for ending it BEFORE they give you the ok to do so. SO if Progressive doesn’t give you the ok to end it early you get charged $35 to your insurance.

Please keep in mind that my car was drivable before this happened. My car recently got hit by a co-workers car on the passengers side. I called Progressive my insurance carrier. The person who hit me also had Progressive which was great. I also submitted a police report to the police station which was accepted. I drove my car after the person hit me and heard a noise coming from my right side and knew I had to get it in the shop to see what was going on and what needed to be fixed. I put my car in the shop for a week to get fixed and they even had someone repair my tire from when they hit it. I got my car back with the sound still going on and nobody was there when we picked up the car.
We called progressive and they told me that we can have them come by and look at it, but will not guarantee anything. So my husband gets there and drives them around the parking lot so they can hear the noise. They tell him there is nothing that they can do for him and that it is coming from the driver's side. They said they will do nothing because we can’t prove it happened from the accident when it is on the report. They also said that I should get it replaced because it could cause a car accident if it comes out. How is that safe? How is this okay?

We were told on each call that the form had been sent but it had not. We spent all this time at the MVA and received the document 21 minutes before the MVA closed. This cost us another day of payment to the tow yard where my car was placed and we had to return to the MVA the next day in order to complete our business. I have never experienced such horrible customer service ever before with any business.
We were repeatedly told that the form had been sent and finally got an associate that told us that the form had not been done and it was then 3:30PM. In other words, we were flagrantly lied to multiple times. "Scott" told us that errors do happen and that the form had to be done on a special "typewriter" and with a certain "typesetting"!! The associate who finally rescued us and told us the truth was Candace.

Don't know how he can say that without even coming out of his car. My auto accident detail. On March 22nd around 2pm I was driving on Citrus Ave south bound for my dentist appt. I was driving in extreme rt lane. As soon as I crossed Adna on Citrus, I suddenly felt loss of control on my car and it was deviating to rt side. It did hit the rt side of curb and then went over the curb. I had no idea what happened and how it happened. I was trying to straighten my car and bring it down from curb. And that's what I did. When I got my car down from over the curb, I saw one black car behind me. The driver and passenger were sitting in car, very relaxed, no intention to get out of car.
I went to them and asked, "What happened, are you ok." Driver said, "You hit my car, but no damage is done or no one hurt." I do not understand without getting out from his car or looking at his car he can make that statement. He took picture of my car and wanted to take off. I told him that I want to make police report. He said there is no need because he had no damage or physical injury. He told me he has no time for police to come, he has to go. He took picture of my car and was ready to take off. I told him, "What about your information, I have nothing on you." I photocopied his driver licence and passport, and he took off. #1 if his car is behind my car how I can hit him. Without checking car he makes the statement that there is no damage to his car.
I was in shock, I had no idea what happened and how it happened. I just took eyeball look on my car, both front tire were flat and axle broken, all joints of car popped out, there were dents on back of car on both side. I did not inspect my car in great detail. I had no idea of damage. I was thinking what to do. When I was thinking what to do, in 10 minutes 3 police officer came. I asked them, "Are you here to make police report." They said, "No, we only make police report when both party are present. We came here just to make sure that you are safe and if you need any kind of help." They also took a vague eyeball look at car, did not look for any damage in detail. I got my car towed to nearby collision center and called my insurance Progressive.
My claim adjuster was Julia. She took my statement and recorded it. It all happened in seconds. I gave the statement, which according to her very scratchy. After that I kept on thinking it does not make any sense and tried to put puzzle togather. Next day I went to accident spot with my friend who is not claim adjuster but very very smart in figuring out things. He inspected the site, marks and told, "He rear ended you, your car lost balance, hit the curb which damaged the tires and went over the curb."
Next day I called Julia, my claim adjuster and explained her about the damage of my car and explanation. She agreed with all that and also said there is black strip all the way from front to back on my driver side. Also she said there is green strip of paint on passenger side of other driver from front to back. I told her that if I hit his car there should be burgundy paint on his car, which is not there. He hit my car, that's why there is back paint on my driver side of my car. I have no idea how it happened and can't explain more than that she told me. Now I am convinced that it is other driver fault and I am transferring case to All State. Other driver's insurance. Which she did next day from. All State Kathy ** called me and took my recorded statement, which I gave her in detail.
Few days later I got call from All State # **. I think he was damage assessor, he told me, "Your car is total loss. We will pay you 10800$ for it and 700$ for storage the car." Kathy ** also told me that they will pay for mid size car rental car from the day of accident. I agreed to terms then after 7-10 days I just called All State about my status. Kathy ** picked the phone and said Progressive took all the liability and there is no claim. I was shocked. No one informed me anything. I asked Kathy, "Do you know why this sudden change," she said, "I do not know, call Progressive."
I called Progressive, they won't listen, just like parrot repeating the same old things and said, "Based on evidence we decided it is your fault," when they don't have even single evidence that it is my fault. Other very interesting thing is that other driver, he did not reported accident to his insurance, but reported to Progressive and claimed the damage. I asked my Progressive claim adjuster, "If there was damage why he did not report to his insurance, and sent claim? I don't know how he can say that without even coming out of his car."
5/8/2019 why you did not report to your insurance. Peter told her, "Since there was no damage, no one got hurt, I did not feel like I need to report to my insurance." On the other side he puts claim to Progressive for damages. What a fraud or lawyer. Progressive has no answer for it and they do not want to discuss it. When I asked Progressive for answer and explanation of it, they keep on repeating same old thing like parrot, won't give any explanation and said we made our decision on evidence base. She said case is closed. You can go to court if you want to and I have no choice but to hire a lawyer. It is very hard to find a lawyer unless some body injury is involved. I don't know how to proceed it, hopefully you can help me in this matter. Thanks.

The agent on the phone advised me that she would cancel the policy by April 3rd. They Charged my bank account in April, 7 days later and then again today 05/07/19. I immediately called them as they have caused my bank account to go into overdraft. The 1st agent got rude with me telling me they are not refunding anything, because the agent that I originally spoke with back in April told me to send in a bill of sale or transfer of title for the vehicle and then the policy will be cancelled Which is not at all true.
In April the agent I spoke with said she would go ahead and cancel the policy on 04/03/19 and that she wanted to let me know that "my State requires that I send in the Bill of Sale or Title transfer". When I got off the phone with her I call the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles and asked them if I needed to provide that to cancel an Insurance policy and was advised "NO"... that I either had to get appropriate coverage elsewhere or turn in my plates so my license wouldn't get suspended. So I bought a Chrysler 300, transferred the plates from my Mercury Sable and got coverage With Geico in April.
I have spoken with 4 different people today and it wasn't until I spoke with the 3rd "Brittany" whom I asked, “Why are y'all giving me such a hard time with this now. When this same exact car was insured with Progressive under someone else's policy, in the very same city & state and then cancelled... I was not asked for any of this.” I had no problem cancelling (I also wasn't on auto draft payments either).
Now suddenly for the 1st time ever, (after being placed on hold for 10 mins and 57 sec so Brittany can find out why, herself) it’s brought to my attention that Progressive has a secret, unwritten, policy (not my resident State) that they claim states "That you cannot cancel a policy within the first 60 days without providing proof that I no longer have the car or that the car is insured with a different company.” I wanted to know why this was never mention before. I requested this Policy in writing and was advised that it could not be provided to me as a hard copy, then my husband asked if it could be emailed and again I was advised that it could not because it was something that only they could see in their system. I'M VERY PISSED OFF AND DISSATISFIED WITH PROGRESSIVE... DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AUTO DRAFT.

Provided several available state and federally recognized documents as proof of garaging address, but not acceptable; so cancelled the policy. Then they tried to charge me a $50.00 cancellation fee. The irony of it all is that I have had motorcycle coverage with them for several years, have not had an incident of moving violations or accidents in over ten years, and drive less than 10k miles per year. I had the right of way since I did not have a stop sign or light yet the story she told Progressive was enough to get them to not cover the claim and repair my car. They claimed they could not determine who was at fault even though she admitted to entering my lane to the police.
The police report put her at fault which was correct but she was not issued a ticket. The report clearly states she impeded my way of travel. I had the right of way. If she would have waited 1/2 longer I could have passed her. I was not at fault yet based on what she told them which was a lie. I was not granted the claim repairs even though she was put at fault on the report. The impact locations on each vehicle justifies everything also. I am so mad on how this was handled. I sustained extensive water damage to my home on 3/8/2019. Today is 4/28/2019 and the damage is still there with what appears to be mold. The Progressive Claims Adjuster finally delivered the estimate on 4/15/2019. Progressive Insurance took 5 weeks and 3 days to work the claim and at no time during that 5 weeks and 3 days did they reach out to my HOA (for a potential dual claim situation). This means that now my HOA has just started the insurance process with their insurance company (Travelers Insurance).
I am now at 7 weeks and 2 days post damage and I am waiting for yet another insurance company to work their claim and meanwhile I am living in a water damaged home with what appears to be mold! The HOA’s insurance company couldn’t even come to inspect the damage until 4/29/2019 – which means I am relegated to living in these conditions for at least several more weeks. I made MANY attempts to contact Progressive Insurance to check the status of my claim – most of these attempts went unanswered. I am going to repeat that it took Progressive Insurance 5 weeks and 3 days to work the claim and at no time during that 5 weeks and 3 days did they reach out to my HOA. In addition to the horrific customer service, I feel Progressive’s handling of my claim should be classified as malpractice. And I would ask if this is even lawful to just leave someone living in these conditions?

I finally found out that I didn’t review my policy to confirm them. I told them I’ve called their customer service and the girl added second car to my policy. If it was such a big for them to do the review then why the agent added second car and didn’t tell me after I added to contact their underwriter? Anyways for 19 days they charged me for 189.73 plus $50 cancellation fee. I talked to the manager to waive it since I didn’t cancel they did. The answer was NO. Anyways I got a better insurance, better coverage and I pay less. Be aware, Progressive starts cheaper then every month the price goes up. Don’t be fooled.

No response from anywhere until I made a call to a representative. Heard that I have to wait until tomorrow. I saw an update on the app Tuesday ~9 am. Two options are call or message to the claim rep. I did both. No contact from the rep while I am writing this (12:51 pm). Is this typical speed of progressive handling a claim???

I changed insurance companies from MetLife to Progressive because I was told that it was less expensive. In the everything is more expensive state of Texas. They already have proof of my bank that has my address and my car statement has my address, but to them that does not prove I live where my car is at. They took my payment out and then sent a cancellation of non-proof of car location. "Where the car is garaged." Along with that It it has to be within the last 30 days. But I got the insurance March 5th. I don't work and I am currently being helped at by family members. They are cancelling my insurance because I don't have proof of employment which they know is illegal. So they are stating another reason. They are cancelling my insurance and that is the address is not verifiable. If I could give zero stars I would. Worst insurance ever and is not less expensive - cost just as much as all the others. MetLife is the better insurance company.

I absolutely loathe the Snapshot device. Instead of grading me for my driving, it’s actually grading me mostly on other people’s driving. The Snapshot device does not take into account the actions of drivers around you, so when a driver pulls out in front of you without an appropriate amount of distance to do so safely and you have to decelerate quickly, you get punished. Any time you slow down more than 7 mph in a sec, you get dinged. I drive in heavy traffic. On the interstate, the traffic will be flowing around 70-75 mph, then come to a standstill with no warning.
Guess what? Progressive dings you for that. I hate hearing that stupid noise. It’s actually contributing to bad habits instead because instead of stopping for that yellow light, I have to speed up and beat it to keep from gaining another incident for a hard stop. I’ve had other people with me in the car multiple times who would testify that I did not stop hard, but I got dinged for a hard stop. I paid extra for safety programs like Honda Sensing, and even my Honda Sensing got dinged on cruise control. I loathe this device, and the sooner I can switch insurance companies, the better!

Progressive is a ripoff. Not only did they not fix my car when it wasn't our fault but I saved over $120.00 a month by changing insurance companies. My wife was hit by a guy who ran a red light doing over 45 mph in the driver's rear of the car. His insurance were claiming they weren't gonna pay due to his vehicle having the wrong vin number was off one digit. So we paid the five hundred dollar deductible so they would start work on our car and progressive could go after the person at fault. The damage done to our car was estimated at 6500 dollars. When we got the car back the car roared and sounded like an airplane in the rear end. I took the car back and they said it all lined up and it was just tire noise. I then asked if my tires were not covered by insurance and they said of course but tires are pretty wore and they weren't covering it.
So eight months rocked on and I finally got new tires and the roaring was still there. I called progressive up and told them and the representative said adjuster would be calling and they would get it fixed. Adjuster called next day and said take it back up there and let them look at it. So I did and the next day toward end of day I called up there and they said "we don't hear nothing" and I said go into a curve and you can hear it plain as day. The guy then say oh okay then it's a bearing. It's a bearing without even looking at it.
I got in my truck and drove straight up to the progressive shop in Warrensburg M.O. and they said they weren't going to fix it cause it's bearing assembly and it's just wear. I told them their sign says guaranteed and that when I first got car back they said it was the tire and that my car was the smoothest riding car on the road before wreck and they said "we have nothing to do with this. We have to do what progressive tells us to do". I then apologized for raising cane to them when it's all on progressives back and they said we see this all the time from progressive.
Called and fussed adjuster out with a message and he called back the next day saying the guy at the shop said it's just wear and tear and I said "your living let's just meet up there and all talk" and I said "I know it's your call and you lied about the tires and now you're lying about wear and tear". He said "I'm not doing nothing about this" and I said "fine you just lost my business" and he snarled in an unprofessional voice and said go fine go ahead.
This wasn't our fault and progressive cut corners on my claim. Ive never dealt with insurance company that don't care about making customer happy. They wouldn't give a rental car either so for almost two weeks without a car and they could have got money back from other insurance that decided they would pay. We wanted rental insurance added and they wanted fifty more a month. And like I said they were 120 dollars higher than anyone else I called. Thats my last experience I will have with progressive insurance.

I was a loyal customer for many years, Moved out of state, then back again. Somehow the rate went way up no explanation. So I switched and saved over 40.00 per month. Now there is a fee of 50.00 for early cancellation. No matter what you do to save money these insurance companies make you bleed money. I will never use progressive again.
How many people read every piece of material, they send where is this fee, written in? It should be stated at the time you purchase your insurance, by the person selling the policy. Not hidden in some mound of papers. So instead of saving money by getting away from them it is costing me 61.00 to get away from them. Here is my research: Despite that Progressive’s revenues are still growing, increasing by an impressive 14.448% during 3rd Quarter 2017. Progressive reported revenues of $6.605 billion in June 2017 and $6.791 billion in September 2017. Revenues were $5.935 billion in September 2016. Plus my $61.00. While trying to get this resolved because they should not keep a person’s money I found out if I cancelled my insurance I would not get the money back because they would remove the discounts for good drive and being an 11 year customer. They were very quick to increase my payment but prorated the overpayment stating that the billing was already established in the system. This is odd because their system will increase and decrease payments on activity all the time. There is no reason they should be allowed to overcharge you on a payment and not return it right away but instead pro-rate it and if you cancel keep it.

The Progressive client and my son blew through the stop sign at an intersection, in a rural part of town. My son was to the right of the client and entered was present in the intersection first. The client struck my son on the rear wheel on the driver's side, spinning his vehicle around, pushing him into a power pole (Damage between the front driver's side wheel and the driver's side door), knocking out the power of the adjacent subdivision and dislodging one of the power lines. The vehicles resting place shows that the client spun my son's vehicle around and pushed him into the pole. My son's vehicle was partially wrapped around the pole and the client's vehicle was at rest, t-boning my son's vehicle from the other side, into the pole.
The client ran to my son's vehicle to see if he was ok and indicating that she blew the stop sign. When the police arrived on scene, the client indicated that she blew the stop sign. Pictures were taken at the scene, as well as offsite, after the accident. The damage to the client’s vehicle show she front impact damage. The damage to my son's vehicle shows the initial impact location (rear wheel on the driver's side), breaking the wheel off the axle, and the power pole (12+ inch indentation of the power, through the frame, crushing the engine's firewall and into the windshield).
The client proceeded to tell Progressive that she stopped at the stop sign; however, the police report and accident pictures shows that she did not stop and was traveling at a high enough rate of speed to break the axle, spin my son's car around and into the pole. Thankfully, my son only suffered minor cuts and bruises. If the initial impact or the impact of the pole would have been at the driver's side door, my son could have been killed.
Since my son’s vehicle was covered with liability insurance, the accident was flipped to Progressive. Progressive judge that my son was 100% at fault. My insurance disagreed, which pushed this case to a third party arbiter. In the meantime, we had to pay for the initial tow and storage of our vehicle ($950) and store the vehicle until the end of this case.
9 Months later, the third part arbiter ruled that this was a 50/50 fault. At the end of the case, I contacted Progressive to discuss the value of my damages and they indicated that they disagree with the third party arbiter and since Progressive's initial ruling was 100-0 fault of my son, they are not entitled to pay for any portion of our damages.

So as I paid my bill last month they asked if I could print it out and send it to them, sure no problem I did. Well I guess I sent it to the wrong address. They never again contacted me and sent me a bill for 1300 dollars for one month for my son! Am I not a customer or do they have so magical power to make me pay something I never wanted just a quote. They are trying to push me around telling me that it is a law! If I didn't sign the paper they can do what they want? Where is the humanity with these people, this is just mean. If I would have known there was a deadline for a piece of paper they need not me or I would be charged this who would do that? Thanks for listening. Dax

These guys are in the business of threatening you and scamming you. Every review I have read on here matches pretty closely to my situation. I filed a claim on an accident that wasn't my fault. Progressive sells you on the fact they offer insurance for any situation including "acts of god" in the word of the Progressive agent. When you first file the claim they play nice. But once they find out it's a hit & run or another driver isn't at fault you better watch out. The claims agent called me 2 days after and everything was fine. Once they got the investigator involved is when things went south.
The investigator calls and gives you a deadline, but once they do that they become impossible to get a hold of. I'm sure they play the "well he didn't call me back" card quite a bit. Once you finally talk to an investigator they grill you, badger you, talk down to you and give you ridiculous tasks to complete a claim. I'm sorry but asking "do you remember how much you spent at Petco a week before the accident." has nothing to do with the claim and they shouldn't be asking stuff like that.
The investigator then said "I'm going to call your witnesses (one of which is my mom) and make sure your story is correct." She then waits until almost a full day after the second deadline she gives me to call them. She then proceeded to ask them their personal addresses, work addresses, etc. Once again asking stuff that has nothing to do with a claim.
We then proceeded to file a complaint. While everyone else agrees that investigations unit shouldn't be doing that, the investigations unit will argue until the end. Once that complaint was filed they don't even respond to my calls, emails or voicemails. But they have been calling my mom for some reason. She finally picked up today and the supervisor had the nerve to say "We know this is preexisting damage and your son just wants people to hear his side of the story he made up in his head." These guys have no intentions of fixing damage to any vehicles they receive claims for unless they absolutely have to. It sounds like even then they will still short change you and try to rip you off. Stay Far away from these guys.

This is their advertising on their website: You're covered in a variety of accidents and situations. You hit an animal. An animal runs into your car. An animal burrows into your car (sounds crazy, but sometimes raccoons tear into seat cushions, or rodents make nests under the hood). Note: Your vehicle can still be covered if you swerve to avoid hitting an animal and then hit another vehicle/object or overturn your car. But, that would instead be covered by collision and not comprehensive. Collision is also an optional coverage. See a comparison of comprehensive vs. collision.

If you are looking for an insurance that covers things accidents that aren’t your fault (hit & run, natural disasters, or just human error) don’t look at Progressive. My car was hit in my parking lot overnight and trying to file a claim has been a nightmare. After I made the initial call it took 2-3 days for somebody to call me back. I didn’t hear back from her for about 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden another week after that I got a call from an investigator. She left a message “I have tried to reach you with no success, call me by tomorrow to salvage your claim.” Even though she gave me that deadline I literally called her once or twice an hour only to go straight to voicemail every single time. She never responded to my voicemails or emails.
Friday morning a claims person told her she needed to call me back. Her response was “I’ll call him back in a few minutes.” She didn’t call me until after lunch. From the get go she basically called me a liar and started asking personal questions that did not relate to the claim. Questions as simple as “Do you have anybody that can say they saw your car on Saturday and tell me there was no damage?” To “if you really ate lunch with your mom then you need to tell me what you guys ate, the cost and the time you went.”
I can barely remember what I ate yesterday let alone 3-4 weeks ago. Then she wanted me to screenshot all my conversations through text, Facebook and Instagram dating back to the first week of March. She wanted bank statements that’s showed my purchases but I was told “your information needs to be on there so I can verify that’s really your account numbers.” It was made pretty clear even if I provided this info my claim would be denied anyways.
I called and filed a complaint and actually requested a new representative or my account be closed. After hearing nothing 4 days later she actually called my mom and girlfriend. She was asking for their addresses, work information etc. She asked my girlfriend to verify the state of the car and my girlfriend told her “when I spent the night Friday there was no dent.” She then proceeded to ask my girlfriend “well why did you spend the night?” “What did you guys do all night.” “What would be doing to not hear the car get hit.”
Keep in mind she shouldn’t have even called since the claim was closed out. Hands down the most unprofessional customer service I have ever dealt with. Not only was this borderline harassment but the questions she asked my girlfriend were kind of creepy. No reason for them to be asking other people that aren’t involved in the claim those questions.

When I got it my quote was 60% higher than my previous one! I asked why and the lady speaking said that Kentucky is usually a more expensive state to cover in, so I declined and did some research. Not only is Kentucky supposed to be a cheap coverage state but it is also supposed to be cheaper than the state I was coming from! So they lied about that.
Then, to make matter even worse, I got an email from them stating that my payment schedule had changed. Usually you receive emails notifying you when your rate increases or decreases. I had not, so out of curiosity I clicked on the link and it took me to my schedule which was telling me that my rate went up $56 for absolutely no reason to my knowledge. So I called them, and they told me that they had made changes in my account that led to the increase. When I asked what the changes were the listed off a change I a) never asked for and b) was never even told about!
They changed my account back, but the changes should have never taken place to begin with. The screenshots are the emails I got telling me about my payment schedule and the email I got after I called them to fix it. So Progressive just decided to make a change under my nose without notifying me in any kind of way just to milk money from me. They are greedy corps and that's about it.

I attempted to add my 17 year old daughter to my Geico policy and saw a substantial increase in the premiums so I decided to shop around. Progressive quoted me approximately $600 less per six months. I accepted their quote and provided my bank information for the one time payment. This was on March 8, 2019. I received an email welcoming me to Progressive with the policy declarations page. I knew I had to provide my daughter's report card to receive the Good Student discount by March 25th. On March 24th, I had the papers to upload and then saw an icon as an indication to review my policy. The latest document stating that my policy was rescinded. I immediately contacted Customer Service at Progressive to understand why my policy was cancelled.
I was told that there was a problem with the bank releasing the money and it's not their policy to contact the client by phone as I had selected email as the means to receive my statements. Instead of contacting me by phone, they cancelled my policy and left me uninsured for 15 days. They stated that I needed to request a new quote since they never received the payment. I requested a new quote and it was almost double the quote that I received earlier. I contacted them again to understand the discrepancy between the quotes. The supervisor explained that since I had a lapse of insurance the rate was justified.
I tried to explain to her that I was put in this situation by Progressive. She tried to blame my bank for not contacting, tried to blame me for not reading my emails and kept telling me that it’s not company policy to contact the 1 million policyholders by phone. I have never in my life been late with insurance payments or had a lapse of insurance until I made the mistake of choosing Progressive over Geico. Now that I have a lapse of insurance on my record, all the insurance companies are charging me over $2k for six months when I was quoted $1175.
So instead of saving 500-600 a year, I'm now paying $1300 a year more. All because Progressive couldn't take the time to send a text or leave a message that there was an issue with the payment. The funds were in the bank, they didn't provide any specifics, they just cancelled it. I'm now back with Geico, paying more unfortunately but at least with a company that I can trust. I apologize for the length of this complaint but they seriously need to do better with their communication with their policyholders and their customer service.

Progressive, in my opinion is using bait and switch pricing during quotes. I was quoted 1,000 for my policy for 6 months. This included discounts for multi policy, multi vehicle, good driving, education, loyalty, payment in full and a ONE TIME electronic signature discount. This amount was NOT DISCLOSED. Who would have thought out of those 7 discounts, an electronic signature was a 10% premium increase for the 2nd six months. Next year my annual premium is the same as what I was paying before I switched! It was a fake discount that made it look like Progressive was 200/year cheaper.
This practice is unethical and should be challenged in court. How many thousands of people got suckered? I plan to post this on as many review sites as I can find, I'm considering contacting the news and the Federal/State regulatory boards to look into these practices. Corporate did nothing to adjust my premium so I hope my increased premium cost them 1000 fold in bad publicity on social media and investigations that the corporation must respond to. BEWARE if you are looking to switch!

Progressive is the worst company I have ever been a part of. I am ashamed to say I had been with them over five years. All the time and hard earned money I wasted was for nothing. In the end, they terminated my policy due to my wife having two incidents while I was on official duty out of the state. I serve in the military and my wife was struck by a shredded 18-wheeler tire in the middle of the road (on the way to work at 4am). The other incident was her vehicle was hit while parked at work. Two incidents she had no control over. Despite being a member for over five years, they chose to cut ties without professional notification. They sent one email, never mailed any correspondence, nor did they attempt to call. I never believed the commercials or stories about companies terminating you because you choose to use a service you pay monthly for. I literally was terminated for using the insurance I pay for.
I would suggest anyone who cares about professionalism and loyalty, stay far away from this company. They want your hard earned capital to line their pockets and invest in television advertisement. They do not care about the consumer in the long run. They do not reward loyalty in any way. All they offered me in the end was a poor attempt at sympathy not empathy. Never in my life will I refer this organization to anyone or any of my battle buddies, nor my family. I felt taken advantage of, mislead, and discarded. They knew I would be able to pay so long as they needed me to. Big business wins in the end and the working family gets screwed. The bottom line, I hope my review sheds light on the true nature of this organization. Ask questions and find out the things they do not tell you when they solicit your business. This company is awful when you really need them.

I have been a customer for over 3 years. My insurance has always been high and never went down in those three years. I do not have any accidents. I asked if my payment could be lowered and they lowered it alright. My policy was rewritten and it was lowered about 100 bucks which was great. But the second payment in my amount was raised back up to what it was because when the policy writer wrote my policy she didn't include PIP coverage. So a month later I had to choose if I wanted PIP or not and of course I want passengers to be covered if I get into an accident. So now I have PIP and my insurance is back to what it was before. I feel like I was bamboozled by this company. I will be changing even if I still have a high amount. I hate paying my hard earned money to swindlers. Do not use Progressive. They are not a good company.

I called to have resolved then sent in documents to prove residence. They never fixed it. I called back 2 weeks later and they said the document wasn't good enough. I spoke to a "supervisor" Jessica who decided to tell me it's my fault for not sending "proper document". This is a scam. They do this in hopes folks don't notice and just blindly pay it!!!

After that they totaled the auto. That was 2 weeks ago. No money yet because the other company wont admit their driver was at fault so they won't pay anything. What!!! The police report stated the other driver did not see our car. Shouldn't Progressive fight for us to get us the full value of the car plus rental etc? Very ???? angry that we cannot get anything done. Oh and I called today Monday but our claims agent is on vacation this week. So next week will be 4 weeks. What does a person do?

Progressive Insurance completely jerked me around on a recent claim. After I paid my deductible ($1,000) and used their preferred provider near where I live, only the cosmetic damage was corrected from my accident, not the under-body damage that was making my car unsafe to drive. I didn't care about the scratch on my car, I cared about the functionality of my car.
After this, my car was at the dealership where I bought it and they communicated to Progressive what work needed to be done. Progressive sent out a local rep (Josh ** & Steve something) several times who approved of the bodywork and said they would cover it under the initial claim. After all the work was complete, Progressive said that they wouldn't cover the work and that there was nothing I could do about it. I then had to pay $1,700 (three weeks after paying $1,000) to get my vehicle back. I haven't had my car in 5+ weeks and have invested almost $3,000 into it. I felt that they tricked me because I don't know a lot about cars or how to file an insurance claim. I will be switching providers after being with their company for almost two years now. I would rather pay more and support a company that will support me.

After my daughter was in a minor accident, we notified Progressive and after two weeks of waiting for a a reply, I finally called. I was told that they are not covering the claim and my policy was canceled. I was paying for a policy with myself and a minor on it as to not have a problem if there were any accidents or tickets. My daughter is also listed as a driver of another car that she bought as a driver of that vehicle. They mentioned words like fraud and misrepresentation in regard to my fully paid policy. They were not only unreasonable, but were also rude and accusatory on the phone. They insisted on a recorded conversation to provide them with any possible loopholes they could use to avoid paying a claim. Think twice before obtaining any type of insurance policy with this company. They are not there for their customers. I have spoken to others who have had similar types of experiences with this company.

I switched to Progressive because Allstate wanted to double my insurance when I bought a new truck. Allstate would not lower it for anything. Funny side story... After I switched I got an ad in the mail for Allstate offering me lower insurance. Anyway, I stuck with Progressive for a little while. Filed a claim once (non-fault) and it was zero hassle. Someone else (driver) tried to scam me by taking a picture of my license plate and proceed to file a fake claim. They even filed a hit and run police report on me. Progressive stuck by my side and found me 0% at fault.
So you would think I would be super happy with them right? Well... All of that is $2,400 a year for a Nissan Titan. Every single person I talked to that had the same type truck as me is paying no more than $800 a year. What the heck? I have no points, good driver... I just don't get it. Those other companies might be more of a hassle to work with but at what cost? $1,600 a year? Yeah, I'll gladly be on hold a little longer for $1,600 a year!!! Oh and to top it all off, all these other people I talked to, have almost double the coverage!

I regret that this place worked on my classic 1987 Pontiac Fiero. The repairs were supposed to be a surprise Christmas present in 2018. The thought of this place and the damage done to my car while in Progressive's care is a nightmare. The car had 3/4 a tank gas when it was brought in, but was on empty when it was picked up... that's 150 miles of test driving/running the engine. Their mechanics damaged the manual transmission by mishandling during excessive test driving. I picked the car up Feb.7, 2019 and immediately heard a grind in 4th gear. There was nothing wrong with the manual transmission when it was brought in. Someone at Progressive mishandled the gearshift and now it grinds when it's shifted into 4th. The tires were newer, but after leaving Progressive they had noticeable tread wear. They broke the door key off into the trunk and did not replace it,even though there is a trunk release inside the car that pops the trunk open.
The inside of the car was left grimy and dirty, car mats had a lot of debris... and someone messed with the radio in the car. It was a big mistake believing Progressive could do moderate/major work at this place on a rare classic car....starter, water pump, heater core, front pads... nearly $3,000 of work. They had the car for 6 weeks total, way too long: They drove it excessively... and gave it back to me with the manual transmission grinding. I have had this car for 27 years, it's been semi-restored, clean, garage-kept for the past 15 years. The manual transmission that Progressive damaged had no more than 300 miles on it... and that includes the last transmission flush. I do not recommend them.

On June 6th @ 2:30am of 2001, my 1996 Ford Ranger pick-up was destroyed in a fire by an arsonist. The police and fire department of the city I lived in at the time took a statement from me and arrested the suspect. My truck was taken away to the salvage yard as it was totaled/un-drivable. I contacted Progressive. Told them what happened. I was on the phone for at least over an hour or so with them. They took my statement and told me that an agent from Progressive will contact me in the morning.
I took the day out of work that morning and told my employer as to what happened. I later received a call from the insurance adjuster. He asked me to get copies of the police and fire department reports and to come to visit insurance department office. I got the necessary information and saw him the following day. He took my statement by audio recording. A few days passed he then called me and told me that the truck payout can only be for the book value for the year of 2001 so there will be a balance still owed. I asked him if he told Ford Credit what happened to the truck and he said to me yes. I was NEVER told about something called "gap" insurance. I later contacted Ford Credit and they stated that nothing was mentioned about a fire.
On November of 2003 I purchased another vehicle which was a 1994 Dodge Intrepid and I was getting ready to apply insurance on the vehicle by a new insurance provider named Geico. As I was going thru the application process, they notified me that there was a discrepancy on my record labeled as a collision. I explained to the insurance representative that in the 14 years I have been driving, other than 2 moving violations I have NEVER been in an automobile accident in my life. This has to be a mistake. I then called Progressive and questioned the adjuster that filed the claim on my behalf. He apologized, insisted it was an error and he would write a letter to my new insurance company. This immediately looked very suspicious to me.
In December I decided to switch to a new insurance company called Travelers Insurance and I told them as to what was happening and gave them free access to check my driving record and to notify me if that collision is still on my record. Sure enough, Progressive did not make good on their promise to remove that so-called error off my record. Not only that, Ford Credit has contacted me to demand payment for the amount of $1000 still owed on the truck. I told Ford that the truck was destroyed by a fire. The customer service rep told me that Progressive told them that I was involved in an accident and the vehicle was totaled.
I contacted the state Insurance investigator's office and told them as to what happened and they in turn notified Progressive. Progressive responded back with a letter saying that again they apologize to me and that the claim was paid in FULL and there was an error and has since been corrected. Fed up, I decided to get the local media involved and force Progressive to acknowledge what was going on, that my driving record was seriously compromised based on false information. I also threatened Ford credit letting them know what was going on dealing with my previous insurance company. I made it very clear that if I win this fight with Progressive, they are next.
As it turns out, there is a company named Choice Trust that has all kinds of credit and other personally identifying information on people that companies such as Progressive report to. The reporter not only had a good consumer alert story to tell the public, she got me in contact with Choice Trust via their phone number. I was on the phone with a rep from Choice Trust explaining to them what happened. The woman looked at my record and told me that it said it was a "collision/no driver" listed. I explained to her that this was a fire. And she had the same question that everyone else had: "Why wasn't this listed as a fire?" Good question.
After that media report came out a few days later, Progressive FINALLY cleared my record. That was in March of 2004. I also told Ford Credit that I was essentially screwed by the insurance company, the money still owed on a vehicle I no longer have as it was destroyed by an arsonist was not my responsibility and I will fight them viciously. Ford sent me a letter saying they investigated what happened and found that gap insurance was not purchased and that Progressive the insurer I had at the time did nothing wrong. They decided in good faith to waive the remaining amount I owed on the destroyed vehicle. My credit and driving record was restored. I was beyond furious. I will NEVER trust Progressive insurance ever again. I still want to know why it took Progressive nearly 5 MONTHS to clear their "mistake"?

The gal I was sent to seemed puzzled that I wanted a new quote and told me the renewal was the new quote that is as good a rate as possible... We have been loyal customers for years and are part of a "loyalty" program - I guess I just didn't realize that the loyalty was only one way... The complete lack of care and help was pathetic and not only have I lost confidence in the rates of this company, but I have also lost 20 minutes of my life being on hold and experiencing lackluster service... After 15 years of a perfect driving record with State Farm, I changed to Progressive for better rates. I was shown that the SNAPSHOT program can give me better savings by tracking my driving. As I have never had a ticket or an accident, I gladly accepted the SNAPSHOT program feeling confident that my rates could only get better. How WRONG I was to think such a thing. My rates went up due to what Progressive calls heavy braking. They also told me that they monitored mileage, and speed. As I drive a F-350 (One Ton) Truck, for mostly commuting to work (less than 1000 miles a month), Progressive deemed it necessary to raise my rates.
Customer service from the SNAPSHOT department need a serious overhaul of their customer service skills. As I work for Southwest Airlines as a Flight Attendant, I know Customer service and what Progressive did to me was very disturbing. No Apology, no acts of kindness, no thank you for doing business with them. I was treated so much better at State Farm. Good thing we have choices on insurance companies.

I've had Progressive for auto and renter's insurance for a long time (12 years or more). I haven't had any claims the whole time until 2018. The claims rep was terrible and the whole process was very time-consuming. They tried to get me to pay a deductible for repairs on a "no-fault" accident. The other party was actually at fault but it was documented as no-fault. Had to speak with a manager to get the matter resolved so that I didn't have to pay unnecessary fees. The manager promised my premium wouldn't increase as a result of the claims.
Within months, my renewal letter came and the premium increased by 27%. The three people I spoke with at Progressive insisted that the increase wasn't because of the claims in 2018. They couldn't give an explanation, other than maybe there are more claims in my neighborhood, or more people are moving into my neighborhood, and insurance rates in my city are rising in general. This is ridiculous and they should be able to provide a reason as to why I'd have to pay 27% more! I had to open a new policy and opt for less coverage in order to decrease the premium by about 23%. So a brand new policy is better than the policy I've had for 12 years... Makes no sense. So 12 years as a paying customer means nothing?!
Renewed renter's insurance policy and stated twice during phone call that I wanted to pay in full. Asked for credit card authorization number and was told they couldn't give me one... Seems strange. Checked credit card transactions and they didn't charge the full amount, so I'm stuck paying an installation fee? Of course this means another phone call to Progressive in order to get them to fix their mistake. Such a waste of my time. I'm looking elsewhere for auto and renter's insurance now. Maybe somewhere that appreciates long-term customers and provides better customer service.
