They canceled my insurance without notification... no calls no emails no letter. I have 4 cars and a have a family With small children. What would happen if I’m in an accident and not covered. Very inconsiderate, unprofessional and dishonest.

This company is a COMPLETE RIPOFF!!! They took it upon themselves to just add four of my family members to my policy without my permission. First of all NONE of these family members reside in my home, but were added regardless. I wasn't even asked if they resided in my home? Not only did they add them but they also added them with ages of 16 years old so that they could raise my rate as high as possible! What, that is absolutely absurd!!! I was then told to prove that they didn't live in my home. If I didn't add them then that should be enough proof, especially when I was told that we were all on a policy back in 1994.
That is absolutely ridiculous and false because one of them has never had a license and another was too young to drive in 1994. Only one of them could have possibly been on a policy with me back in 1994 and I don't think that's even true. Are you guys seriously adding drivers to my policy based on information that you found from 1994!!! My rate was raised to $533 a month from $184. No way was I going to pay that especially when it was based on FALSE facts!!!
Of course I cancelled the policy and was told that I had to pay a $50 cancellation fee on top of all the other ridiculousness!!! I've never in my life had to pay a fee for canceling an insurance policy!! In most cases you get money back, but not with PROGRESSIVE!! I'm EXTREMELY IRATE and just wanted to warn others that this company is a COMPLETE RIPOFF!!! If there was any way for me to leave zero stars, I definitely would have!!!

Got commercial insurance Sept 16 2019. This people took FOREVER to send documents to the DOT department. First quote I agreed to was $13,400 a yr. From Sept 16 to the 24th it went up to $15,500. Today Oct 1 it went up to $19,762 a year because we using a new DOT number. This company robs people without a gun. Worst company EVER. How the hell they didn't know it was a new DOT number when I gave it to them on Sept 16 and told them it's a new number. Bunch of thieves.

Progressive lost an entire month of my payment which is around $500. They then required me to pay the entire bill again while they “looked into it” so I gave them another $500 or they would have cancelled my insurance. After a month and a half of them “figuring it out” they finally found the payment and told me they would be refunding me $500 dollars in the next two weeks. I waited a month for this money and called them again asking when I could expect it and they told me by the end of the week. It has not been another month and I still have not seen this money or gotten any updates. This situation is unprofessional on their part since it was their fault and not the customer's. Not everyone can just give up $500 and I was really counting on that money coming back since I have college tuition and textbooks that was due last week. So all in all if they end up owing you money don’t expect to see it back. I am now insured elsewhere.

Beware of getting auto insurance thru this company. I only had insurance a few months and I received a better quote from another company. When my next bill came due I received a letter stating my next payment of 66.00 was due. I told the person I got a better quote from another company and that I wanted to cancel. I thought it was handled until about a month later I get another bill stating I owed 92.00 now for cancelling. I called them and they told me they didn't have a record of me cancelling my account and it has been turned over to a collection agency and these thieves put a judgment on my credit report. I called again to both the manager of customer affairs and also the collection agency both refused to do anything about it. I have never in my life had an insurance company expecting to get paid for canceling my policy. Beware.

Nearly Tripled my payment. Never once gave me a call to ask about a person previously living in my household. Just assumed that person was living there driving my car etc. NOT ONE PHONE CALL. Insurance went up to $450 a month! Put Lies about me in their database which I have spoken to an attorney about and I can easily take them to court. I have a balance now for a person that no longer exist. I told them Over and over no one else’s drives my vehicle. Didn’t matter. They wanted personal addresses and information on someone I don’t even know anymore. I have several insurances in my driving life. HANDS DOWN PROGRESSIVE IS THE WORST. They need to be investigated.

I purchased a Progressive policy because my family had been using Progressive. It was fine when I lived in Maine but when I moved to Massachusetts my rate went up over 4X the amount I was previously paying. I was informed by the Progressive representative that this was the lowest I was able to pay for living in MA. After 4 months of paying through Progressive, I contemplated selling my car because it was costing me too much for insurance. I began searching for quotes through other respectable insurance companies and found that I was being overcharged 3X the amount that other insurance companies were charging for the same level of coverage. When I went to cancel my policy with Progressive there were no additional charges due to my account and everything was paid. There was also no mention of a Cancellation Fee. With a search on Cancellation Fees, I was informed that there was a $0 fee.
The day afterward my policy was officially cancelled, I received an email that I was being charged an additional $50. When I called a Progressive representative, they searched for ten minutes on my account to see if I had missed any payments and why there was an additional charge. When they could find nothing else, they said that they really didn't know why I was being charged but decided that it must be a Cancellation Fee and that I had one week to pay for it. Their outrageously priced policies and hidden fees are why I gave Progressive one star. My best suggestion is look at different insurance company quotes. Do not settle for the first one that makes you an offer and make sure to ask about all additional fees.

Back in April I backed into a parked car and scratched the bumper. I did what I was supposed to do by informing the other driver, exchanging insurance info, taking a photo of the damage, and informing Progressive immediately. They said they would open a claim. A few weeks later I called to check on its progress and was told that the other driver had chosen not to file with her insurance. Months go by and it's time to renew my policy. Suddenly I see my premium has gone up by almost $50 a month. I call to see why and am told that it is because of the $1093 payout they made to the other driver (who evidently did file with her insurance). I asked why I was never informed that she did file, that they were paying out, and that there would be an increase in my premium.
The answer I got was a hem and haw. "Well, usually it's the other driver that calls you to let you know." SERIOUSLY?? You don't actually believe that I'm stupid enough to believe that, do you? It is the responsibility of the insurance company. That is part of what they are paid for. So not only did they drop the ball, but they lied to try and shirk their responsibility. I dumped them as my insurance effective September 19th. I was told my refund of $107.30 could take up to 48 hours to show up in my bank account. I waited and waited, and after 4 full days I called them once again to ask where my refund was. It was then that I was told "Oh, I'm sorry you received that misinformation."
Evidently, they cannot release any refunds until they are certain they have my payment in their system--these are their words, not mine. When I informed them that I paid my premium on the 15th, they countered with "I'm sorry but we still have to wait 12 days to make sure the money is here." So they lied to me yet again. This company is the crappiest I've ever dealt with. I will NEVER do business here again. If you don't know your own policies, or if it is your policy to screw over your customers, you don't belong in business. Progressive sucks.

The reason I am taking the time to write this review which probably won’t matter as they are a huge company. I switched my policy from Geico to Progressive in June due to the lower rate. I signed up and agreed to a certain monthly payment. After paying it for 2 months, an internal change occurred and I called right away. Of course no one was going to tell me that if I didn’t do this or send this in, my policy would change. They increased my policy $200 on top of my monthly payment. If I was informed that my policy would change, I would have sent to documents over initially but I was not provided any directions as where I was supposed to send in the documents and what documents needed to be sent in?
No email, fax, mailing address, nothing as it was hidden from me to begin with. Called them over and over and they stated they sent notifications out but I did not receive anything. I have paperless as well so they would have informed me but nope, didn’t receive a single notice until it was taken out of my account. I did not get a reimbursement or credit on my next payments as I sent in the information that same day, I was told I would have to call back to check when it has finalized.
Called back and Leonardo my rep over the phone stated it would credit me towards my next payments and that I wouldn’t have a September payment as they charged me double my monthly premium. And that October I would also be paying less as well after he applied the changes and I authorized these changes. Told me to call back in a couple days after it has finalized.
Called back 2 days and David was my rep this time and I asked for Leonardo and he said he’s on another phone call. David told me no they wouldn’t reimburse me or credit towards my bills and I would still have to pay my monthly premium. I asked to speak to a manager as I was not informed of the changes until after it had withdrawn my account.
Of course the managers don’t actually talk to you, David just said he would not and I told them they need to honor what was said, every phone call is recorded so they need to listen in on them. But I thought the fight was over as they did not need anything else from me as I made sure on those phone calls and I asked them did I need to do anything to keep my discounts, any other documents cause they were not getting me this time around! But surely the fight was not over and here we are again.
I got an email notifying me that my electronic funds discount was being changed without me authorizing it again. My payment was due on the 17th, it is the 23rd. I immediately called them asking why these changes took place. They again had no answers and that I would be charged a late fee. I am furious this time around as I am paying for all these changes that I did not authorize! Again Michelle is my rep this time, told me to “call back” when they have more information.
I wanted to make the monthly payment over the phone as I did not want a late fee charge and she discouraged me saying it would be a double payment if the first one did go through. I told her I’m not concerned about the double payment as it would just go towards October’s payment, am I right? I rather that then a late fee and also a late payment inquiry on my credit. But no she stated to just “call back”. I will be calling back in 2 days and cancelling if I get a late fee charge. I will be updating my review. This is ridiculous.

I have had Progressive for over a decade mainly because it is the cheapest insurance company, and U.S. law requires drivers to have insurance. In less than three months I have had a car broken into and the ignition stripped. My only other vehicle was parked in our stall and slammed into in an overnight hit-and-run. I pay over $2000 a year for full coverage comprehensive and collision. Guess who had to pay to replace the ignition stripped out of my truck? And guess who is going to have to pay to replace that rear bumper with back-up sensors for my wife's van. Not Progressive.
You see, you have to meet a $500 deductible each for comprehensive for an attempted theft and then a separate $500 again for collision which is really nice when you're a lousy driver, who is in an accident every other month, but for someone, who has never been in an at-fault accident and has only been in two accidents in over 20 years of driving, it's troubling to have to spend over $2000 a year in mandatory insurance and then hundreds more before Progressive actually decides to help. I don't know the best course of action to take, but any federal or state law that is created that forces you to spend thousands of dollars over the course of lifetime to have something that you'll only ever really use a couple of times at best is wrong. Something needs to change. The laws need to change and force insurance companies to treat customers better. I'm tired of paying for other people's sins. I'm not Jesus.

I switched to Progressive a year ago. I was with USAA. I should have stayed. Progressive offered a lower rate, initially but small adders kept cropping up. I believe I pay them more now than I would be paying USAA. My daughter is 21 years old. She moved out at the age of 18 to go to college in another state. Since that time she got engaged and has lived with her fiance' for the past 1.5 years. She is visiting me now, has a driver's license from another state, and was hit by an at-fault driver who ran a red light. She was running an errand for me. We live in a no-fault state so our own insurance still pays for the damage.
Progressive states they won't pay, because she was not listed on my insurance policy as a driver. She doesn't live with me. Has not lived with me for years. She lives at another residence in another entire region of the state, and has a drivers' license from an entirely different state. Progressive states they won't pay. Stay away from these Charlatans. I am going back to USAA. It's worth it to know you will be covered if you ever need to make a claim, and the insurance company you pay your premiums to won't be simply looking for an excuse to screw you. Progressive will be looking for this excuse. Stay away from Progressive.

I set up a policy for a Hyundai Veloster which is a high performance sports car, It had custom low rider wheels, Dual Transmission which can make the car fly if you want it to. I sold that car and went to a Toyota Prius which is a slow mid size basic car. They raised my rate by nearly $50 a month. I found better insurance and went to cancel and they told me I couldn't cancel because Florida law says you must carry your current policy on the car for 60 days. Which is true in certain cases but not if you get another company and start your insurance immediately. This is the Statute from the state of Florida.
(a) Issued to achieve common expiration dates; or
(b) Issued to complete the unexpired portion of a previous policy period.
(3) Except as provided in s. 627.7282, an insured may not cancel a policy or binder during the first two months immediately following the effective date of the policy except:
(a) Upon total destruction of the insured motor vehicle;
(b) Upon transfer of ownership of the insured motor vehicle; or
(c) After purchase of another policy or binder covering the motor vehicle that was covered under the policy being canceled.
As you can see in section C it states if you get another Binder. They tried to tell me they wouldn't cancel it for another 3 weeks and would bill me $65.88. Watch this company closely. They will try to trick you and rip you off. It's good to follow up on the laws and Statutes. Crooked....As bad as Flo's wig.

My car was stolen a few months back and after all of the back and forth with the adjuster, the car was deemed a total loss. Progressive then turned around and denied the claim stating that the only way that car could be started was with 1 specific key. I provided numerous Google hits of how a key can be impersonated (BTW this car is a 2008 model) so that means that anti-theft technology was stronger than it it is today? I called BS on that. After emailing manager after anger and them taking copious amounts of time to respond to me, I emailed the CEO Tricia Griffith and gave all of the names, the stall/bullying tactics, the documents... Everything. I then file complaints with the BBB, Texas Department of Insurance. I do not have the outcome yet, but I will say that Progressive Insurance is a ZERO when dealing with their own customers.

That wouldn't get to me in time. I tried to tell them at least give me month by month payment/coverage. Our Commercial Semi truck is insured through Progressive Insurance. It caught on fire and burned the cab. After a week sitting in my yard where it burned, they sent a wrecker to come and get it. After another week sitting in a storage yard the adjuster finally found time to find an estimate on it. It took another week to find out the amount of the estimate. We were put on hold while all this happened. They were impossible to get a call back from. Ms. ** was forever out of office. We were shuffled around to 3 different agents. After I finally got a total estimate. Then they had to appraise the value of the truck which they low balled to benefit them. Called my bank behind my back and tried to pay them off without asking me to do so. We had ask about the appraised value of the truck and was told they did not know yet. But turned around same day and tried to get the bank to settle for less than the loan amount owed on truck.
All this took a month while I was out of work. When I disagreed with the appraised price, I was told I had to hire a private appraiser but at this point I have been out of work 6 weeks with no pay. It is now 7 weeks going on 8 I am still not working, they are trying to starve me out, to force me to take what they want to give. They used truck trader magazine to value my truck using the low end prices in there even though they know my truck has been rebuilt and is worth the high end value. They are trying to give me a 3rd of the value of it. When I told them to just fix it.
They said it is a total loss and although the estimate was 21,900.00 that it would cost way more than that to get my truck right and that they had already been offered 5500.00 form the salvage yard for it. Again without any agreement on our part. This is a nightmare and I am now about to lose everything I own because of this company and dragging their feet keeping me out of work with no truck. Anyone looking for insurance coverage stay away from Progressive. They are a dishonest company that will not honor the terms of your policy thus stealing from you as a customer. I paid for an auto policy that closeted comprehension, collision, rental car, roadside assistance, loan/lease pay off and everything in between amounting to a monthly bill of over $200. When my vehicle was hit in a parking lot while I was watching fireworks with my son I contacted Progressive and the local PD. I filed a police report, turned over my vehicle to the repair shop and picked up my rental. I thought everything was going fine and just like my policy stated. That was until they decided to total out my car and transfer my claim to Franchesca a representative out of Utah. That is when everything went downhill.
For starters she canceled my rental car after 10 days (my policy covered 30 or $1500) and to top it off she never informed me she canceled my rental car. The rental company thankfully called me. Otherwise I would of been liable for any days past the day she canceled. I spent a week prior to her canceling to get a return call from her. Then after my rental car incident she presented me with a offer for my now totaled vehicle. The offer she sent me was over 2k below the market average, didn’t include any of my upgraded packages, the brand new tires on my car that she had an invoice for, my Gap coverage and she was charging me a deductible despite the fact that I didn’t have one due to the amount of coverage I had purchased.
I refused her offer to which her response was to try and force me to accept it by threatening me. I sent her multiple emails with questions. She refused to answer and when I confronted her about those emails she responded in a mocking and degrading way. Disrespectful yes but that’s her prerogative. If she wants to be a disrespectful person she can be. I contacted an attorney and scheduled an outside party to appraise my vehicle which is my right as per their company policy.
The week of my appraisal Franchesca closed my claim as an owner retains offering a fraction of what my vehicle is worth still not including any of the extra coverage I paid for and refusing to answer any phone calls or emails once again. What they have done is illegal. They did not act in good faith nor did they honor the contractual agreement between us with my policy. So I urge anyone who is thinking about using Progressive to reconsider. They are not a good company and if given the opportunity they will take your money and refuse to provide you with the coverage you are paying for. I will never use them again.

Now as I'm searching for new insurance, Progressive is stating I was insured for less than a year, even though I have had continuous insurance for 10+ years, with no tickets/accidents or claims in my life.
When you are looking for lower premiums for car insurance, consumers are not expecting the quote with discounts!! Especially after using snapshot for 6 months, driving less than 1000 miles, with no incidents, and the discount from snapshot is $50. I have a bit of information that I think needs to be shared about this insurance company specifically its policies and procedures. On September 12, 2019 I went to check my email. Progressive had sent me a change of policy which I thought was kind of strange since I hadn’t changed anything on my policy. Going to my account I found that they had automatically added my oldest daughter on to my auto insurance. Now, my daughter hasn’t lived in the same state as me for years. She’s almost 30 years old, has her own cars, home, family. How in the world did she get onto my car insurance? And who had authorized it???
Of course, I called to find out what was going on. First, I talked to a woman named Mariah in Customer Service which transferred me to the underwriter department and a woman named Christina. Come to find out that the underwriters for the company had decided to add my daughter to my account. Why? Because at one time she had lived at this address and had Progressive Insurance. Wait….what? So just because my daughter used to live here and had Progressive insurance she could be automatically added to my policy by an underwriter? Who are these underwriters that think they can just do whatever they want to anyone’s policies?
They don’t know what is going on outside their computer screen and they have no right to just assume information with no proof. Oh yes, at one point she had lived in my home and they didn’t have any proof that she no longer lived here. Christina then informed me that I (yes, me!) needed to provide them proof that she didn’t live here. No…I don’t think so. I didn’t add her to the policy, I don’t work for Progressive. I pay the company Christina works for to insure my vehicles!!! Not to tell me who is on them or that I must do paperwork to take them off when a person I didn’t add to the policy shouldn’t even be there in the first place! Christina told me that was how their policies worked. Not for me.
Progressive obviously doesn’t work for me. No one should have to right to add whomever they choose to my policy whenever they choose. It’s my policy. I think that maybe I know my world a little better than they do. I happen to know who lives in my house and who drives my vehicles! I told Christina that she needed to take my daughter off the policy. She again, told me that I needed to show proof that she didn’t live with me. No, Christina I don’t. I don’t NEED to do anything. But I am going to switch insurance companies. Congratulations on having one less patron to Progressive's business. By midnight tonight your services are no longer needed!

Chose them because of the low rate they quoted me only to have the rate increase once coverage began. Was sent a letter of the increase. It was minimal so I let it slide. Later tried to make some changes to my policy concerning a motorcycle. My rates went up after I dropped the bike! Again, it was a minimal amount, so I let it slide, but began looking at other companies for renewal. Found out that a competitor would give me all I wanted at a much lower rate. I signed with this competitor and went to the Progressive website to attempt to cancel. I could not find anywhere to do this, so I called. I was told that in order to cancel, I had to go to the website. I explained that I had been there and was told to look again. I went back and again could not find any route to perform a cancellation. I am no amateur, I tried everything I could to find this cancellation page.
So, most companies would cancel a policy if no payment is received, not Progressive. They sent me letters requesting payment for a policy that I had not renewed. They finally cancelled the policy 3 months later. What did I care? I had insurance coverage from another company. Once the policy had cancelled, the letters stopped. Cool, all done, right? No. I received 1 phone call from a collection agency, asking me to pay $83. I explained what had occurred and that I would not be paying this. Radio silence since then. Almost a year later, an item appears on my credit report. $83 from Progressive shows as unpaid and disputed by customer. Please understand that it costs much more than $83 to report an item on a customer's credit report. This was done for spite alone. Thank God I had not signed up for auto pay! I am currently discussing this issue with an attorney.

Progressive baits consumers with low rates that have poor coverage. Also for the same coverage at Geico Progressive is 50 percent higher in price with less liability coverage. With Progressive a side by side comparison with Geico is a no brainer. Geico provides better coverage for less money. This probably is only speaking to my particular claim adjuster, the Southern California claim adjuster (sorry be vague in this description but is as near as I can discern given his responses, affiliate shop adjuster & relation contact). My accident occurred on a Friday night, due to Labor Day. Progressive would not tow my truck until Tuesday between 9:30-10am. Nobody came. I had to call Progressive again to get a tow truck to come. Over the weekend my only communication after the initial phone call to open a claim was texting with someone from Progressive. Now mind you, I've been waiting for 4 days to get my truck towed.
Through text, the Progressive rep would only tow the truck on Tuesday to their affiliate shop. I had no choice but to say yes, please tow my truck. A tow truck finally comes around 11:40am. He is not prepared to tow a truck with a missing tire because that was never conveyed by Progressive! He has to call Progressive to get clearance to rig to tow as best as he can. He has to solicit my girlfriend's help in order to get the truck hooked up to be towed. I get a call from the shop at 3:11pm. The shop needs agreement paperwork signed as I'm already headed back to Arizona. I asked them to send it to me. Here are the 3 points of contention:
1) "Depending on the insurance carrier, aftermarket or RECYCLED PARTS may be used on you vehicle." Meaning the shop will pull junkyard/salvage parts for your repair.
2) "QualTech Auto Collision will not be held responsible for loss of items or damage to the vehicle due to FIRE, THEFT, ACCIDENT or any cause beyond QualTech's control." They are pretty much saying they are not responsible for taking possession of your vehicle at all and seems to imply they don't have insurance to protect their repair business. Who knows!
3) "STORAGE FEES WILL BE CHARGED FORTY EIGHT HOURS AFTER THE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED." Well, I'm out of state and I'm going to need a little more time.
I spoke to a lady at QualTech and talked through these concerns. There were no concerns after our conversation. I annotated the agreement and initialed each statement as discussed. Sent the agreement back to the shop. That's when I got a call from a different lady from the shop telling me I can't change or capture my verbal agreement on their paper work. Well Ok. We don't need to do business, but she goes on telling me they will use salvage parts on the vehicle as if she owned the vehicle. She actually perused arguing with me. I told this isn't even a conversion to be had with you (the shop) but with my insurance company.
Finally she blurts out, "Come in tow your truck somewhere else" and the conversion ended right there. The owner and this person immediately had a conference call with their Progressive Rep to explain what transpired. It took me speaking with 2 reps to get transferred to the same Progressive person the shop was working with. This Progressive adjuster still suggests this is a good shop even after the way their customer (me) was treated. He thinks it's just a misunderstanding. He also says Progressive policy salvage parts. Parts from the junkyard that are placed on a shelf but not junkyard parts.
Here's where I plug a pondering emoji! Junkyard parts but not junkyard parts? (Worthy of a 3 letter acronym.) The Progressive stated the obvious, if I was not comfortable with this shop I shop choose a different repair shop. And of course I did just that. I found a good and respectable collision repair shop and requested my truck be towed there. Progressive says we already paid for 2 tows so I would have to pay for this one. Well they only paid for one tow so that implies Progressive would honor a 2nd tow especially given this scenario but the Progressive adjuster said I would have to pay for it. Now why did I give this review a 1 star? Because I rate them any lower given this star system. In all seriousness, I am Progressive's paying customer! I paid pay for a professional and fair service! I didn't get that given the following:
1. 4 days to tow.2. No tow truck showed.
3. I had follow and call Progressive for the tow which was never sent by either Progressive or by Progressive's preferred tow company.
4. Tow truck unprepared.
5. Tow truck needs help from customer to load the truck and is rude/condescending to the customer.
6. Progressive uses text verses conversation.
7. Rather than taking care of the customer, Progressive uses text to defend their position. Very sad!
8. The only Progressive option was to tow to a subpar repair shop.
9. Progressive claims to have provide 2 tows which they didn't and then will not move the truck to a different repair shop.
10. Progressive is clearly not taking care of their customer to high standard in this situation.
This is for the reader, all of this above is the icing on the cake after my truck was hit and run on the side of residential neighborhood while the S.D. Sheriffs create a case number mostly for the insurance company. Meanwhile the person was not caught even after running into apartment complex fences and other property. Eye witness says it was a white Honda Civic with California plates having the last characters being 660. An insider states the authorities really are going to investigate this accident. The positive is nobody was hurt and in terms on Progressive's ability to provide good service there's nowhere to go but up! Cheers!

Over a year ago I rolled over my truck hydroplaning on a water puddle on the road doing 63 mph on a 75 mph zone. Damaged a ranch high fence which cost $5200 to repair. Progressive only paid $3200 claiming that the work invoice price was more than the average for the area and that there was no way my truck had caused that much damage. I explained that the because it was a high tensile fence the force of the impact had affected the whole section from one corner to the other, I saw that when the ranch owner pointed it to me so I knew the extent of the damage. I argued that the issue would've been easily resolved if they had sent an adjuster before and after the fence was repaired instead of allocating labor and material prices on their own and pay the claim based on that. His response was "do you realize how much would've cost me to send an adjuster there" (claim supervisor talking).
My response was "do you realize that by you not doing that I have to pay $2000". Only reason I paid was because I had given my word to the ranch owner, whom by the the way, was the most sympathetic and understanding. Stay away from progressive. They rather pay Flo and that other geek thousands of dollars for their stupid commercials than to keep customers happy. I wasn't expecting 100% claim money, but at least a more fair resolution. I've called Progressive twice trying to go ahead and cancel the Snapshot and was told I could not cancel it until the policy takes effect on September 6th. I asked how much the discount is and I've been told no one can tell me that until the policy takes effect when I then am supposed to call in to cancel the snapshot.
I wish all things were stated clearly upfront when totaling the amount of the features I want to get. I was just reading reviews and saw there's a $50 fee for early cancellation. I am looking at other policies but Progressive should state everything clearly and straightforward when you're looking at the options online and include the exact amounts of all discounts, not just some of them.

He assured me that as long as the car is registered in Maryland, there is no problem. I paid lump sum both for cars and home.
Few days later, when I called Progressive, I was told that they cannot cover the car in Canada. When I argued, they said okay, they will cover for this cycle, but will not renew the policy. Then I was ready to take trip to Canada. I called Progressive and they told me they cannot cover for car in Canada, and gave me a date 2-3 days later. I do not recommend using Progressive Auto Insurance. I have been with them for years and always pay my 6 month balance in full. After I complained about how high my quote was a year ago, they lowered it, which made me quite happy, then 6 months ago they had increased the rate by 10 dollars. This time around they increased it by another $20. They seem to count on the fact that some of us may be distracted to turn a profit. Aside from the increase which seems dishonest, they also did not inform me at the last time of purchase that I needed to reject the uninsured motorist part of the plan or I would be charged an additional $22 dollars. Therefore I paid in full for 6 months at $508 and yet that was not the "full price". They claim that they sent me this information via mail, I never received the letters, and that they sent me an email regarding the matter.
The email, I did in fact receive, among all their other spam emails that they send. However, the email they sent said nothing about me having to reject a part of the claim or I would be charged an extra $22 dollars or when the deadline for my rejection would be. Therefore, now they want me to pay another $22 for a part of the claim that I never agreed to and $10 because I did not pay the $22 that I did not agree to nor knew it was part of my service as I had already requested to pay in full. The way I know I paid in full was because I paid the discounted in full amount. There is no other way of putting this but calling it a "bait and switch". I do not recommend for anyone to use this company, I have found a much better deal at Geico, hopefully they will know how retain my business and treat me with the same respect I have offered them.

I was with Progressive for way over 10 years. In the past 18 months they have increased my premiums 3 times for NO REASON! Over 10% increase! I just called their customer service (I emailed them before as well), and asked why they have increased my rates. I ALWAYS pay on time, no accidents, no tickets, no change of address, no change in cars, NO changes whatsoever. The representative told me that it’s because of the increased number of claims in my state?!! So, I asked her if there is a way to see the number of claims, or if there is any public information that could confirm her statement. She said “NO”. And when I asked her that her statement means that I have to pay for other people bad driving, she said “YES”.
She wasn’t compassionate about my concerns and when I Googled why would they do that to me, this is what comes up: “Unfortunately, Progressive Auto Insurance is known for raising its rates on unsuspecting long-term customers.” I’m very busy with my work, and family, but unfortunately, have to start looking for a new insurance company.

I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. I got with Progressive because they lured me in with a low rate around $45 per month for my car insurance. By the time they were done I was at $90 for a car I never drive (2000 miles a year). I was encouraged to carry premiums I didn’t need. That’s on me for being suckered in. But really, please remember this. A good business will always serve YOUR interests. And genuinely consider YOUR circumstances. So after about a year of being reamed paying about double what I needed. I decided not to renew my policy.
And get this... I found a policy with the same amount of coverage for $40 per month that I was paying Progressive $90 to cover! Who was it? AAA auto insurance. I was surprised and yet not. So many large corporations are so driven by profit they intentionally extort their customers. But you already know this. Just look around. Their all falling like flies because you reap what you sow. Anyway, I failed to contact Progressive to formally cancel my policy. They Auto Renewed it and continued to draft my auto payments. DO NOT SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT TO AUTO PAY WITH ANY COMPANY! So yep, they continued to attempt to draft my account after the term had ended and I had AAA coverage.
So here’s where I’d get foul. I caught an overdraft charge from my bank. It was this that alerted me that I have to call and CANCEL MY POLICY formally. I had in my head that if I didn’t renew it formally it would automatically cancel. Duh! So I sucked it up. That was my fault. But then after contacting them. Formally cancelling the account. And after the agent went through everything. I was due a credit of $76. That was normal. You pay the first and last month of your policy when you sign up. So I get the adjustment. But then after I CANCELLED my policy I get another overage charge from my bank from Progressive attempting to draft payment FOR A CLOSED ACCOUNT!
At no time while speaking to the customer service representative did he inform me of outstanding charges or that the auto pay was still active and advise me. As I stated earlier, he told me I was DUE A CREDIT. So when I called and asked for compensation for 1 of 2 of the overage charges they said it wasn’t their fault. But did admit that it was negligent not to tell me how their system processes payments and that a declined payment will run again several days later, EVEN AFTER YOU CALL IN AND CANCEL THE POLICY AND THE AGENT REVIEWS YOUR POLICY STATUS TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE A CREDIT OR NOT. Now this is a simple accounting process requiring adding and subtraction.
Moreover we are in the AI tech/information age. Why do these BS NON-REAL TIME systems even exists? They have to be by design and not necessity and provide opportunities for corporate extortion. Which is what has happened to me. So after raising this fuss. And proving my points that they shouldn’t have been attempting to draft my account AFTER the cancellation even if it was in the pipeline to try and get payment for THE AUTO RENEWAL, the customer resolution person named Carol insisted that it was my failure and there was no way to know that my bank didn’t honor the payment as usual. (What!!!? Are you kidding me.). And that “the system” is the only one that could see this. I was floored by the condescension. My phone died after 35 minutes of this debate about ethics and accountability and fundamentals of technology and accounting. So it gets worse.
This morning guess who sends me a bill and a firm threat!? Progressive. It read something like this. After reviewing your police AFTER CANCELLATION, you actually owe US $110. (For what Progressive? Oh yeah - The balance for the initial $175 you at attempted to charge me to RENEW MY POLICY!).... and you need to pay it immediately or else we will send it to collections. Nice. Gangster. And corporate. This pushback because I made a solid point is classic. So I’m exhausted by Progressive’s behavior and quite honestly disappointed to see a company go to this extent to extort it’s dissatisfied customers. I didn’t have any claims with this company. I just paid the bill for a year. And when I decide to leave. This is what they do.
So now I have to explain how paying this bill would be extortion and they BS me with something about the policy wasn’t closed so I owe them. ALL AFTER THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED ON AUG 6 with a $76 credit AND I HAD NEW COVERAGE. Incredible. Who paying me for the time I’ve already spent or will spend trying to correct this simple **? Nobody. They get paid to argued with me about what should be clear to an ethical mind. Just another example of corporate greed and systems put in place to take advantage of customers who HAVE TO HAVE This product by law if they want to drive lawfully. And a good reason why America is in decline and business is failing left and right. Long-standing businesses have all but abandoned their notion of empathy ethics while conducting business with their fellow man. They push to hurt you and don’t do the right thing when they are held to task.
That leads to class action lawsuits and loss of jobs and bankruptcies. Seen the news lately? It’s happening all over. I explained that this should not have happened because I KNOW IT'S HAPPENED BEFORE. All business has repeat issues. That the agent who canceled my policy and promised me a credit on the 6th must have deliberately neglected to inform me of how the system works or missed something. Either way the onus is on them. But no. Not only am I gonna pay my bank an overage... Progressive demands back pay for a policy that ended August 1st because autopay didn’t get to the money after two tries. Not because I genuinely owe them anything.
I asked, "what if I had an accident 1 day after the August 6 cancellation and called in for he claim on this cancelled account? Would you honor it?" I got silence. The obvious answer: "Of course not." So, Why do I now owe you money Progressive? I paid for a year and had no claims. Cancelled the policy. Was owed a credit, but now I owe you!? For what exactly? I mean really? What have you given me after the fact? So, DO NOT USE PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE! Beware. This company is unethical. If it weren’t it would see how outrageous their system is and how it is a disservice under these kinds of recurring circumstances which they fail to fix on their end or inform on ours (the customers end). Good luck!

I would never recommend this insurance. I have never had a claim, not a driving violation, and the insurance increased every 6 months for no reason. I bought a second quote and obtained a quote before I purchased the car. Then, when I called to add the car, they backdated the cost to the day I called to inquire. Then it increased twice before I even got the title to the car in the mail. I tried to get my money back but they did not return 1/3 of it. They are liars! Beware.

After having multiple vehicles covered with Progressive for over five years, I notified them to correct a VIN number. I was hit with an increase in rates and contacted them to inquire about the increase. The ‘customer service’ agent told me he was doing me a favor taking back only one month as he could have taken it back to January. (Is that a threat?) If he was going to use that logic, he would need to take the change in price back to when I purchased the car. It just went downhill from there. I felt like I was being charged to correct their mistake and their horrible, juvenile minded customer service agent was the icing on the cake.
I secured other car insurance and of course when I called to cancel my coverage with Progressive, they wanted to just do anything to keep me as a customer. Uh, no, you didn’t or I wouldn’t have talked to three people about this issue for over a week TO CORRECT PROGRESSIVE’S MISTAKE. Now to wait 5 days for the refund of my policy. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for insurance. It’s all dandy until there’s a problem and then, it’s like you work for them.

I was hit by a truck towing another truck. The police report clearly states that the other driver in the truck being towed was at fault. Unfortunately, the guy in the truck being towed had no car insurance. Apparently the police nor Progressive find any fault in the guy who was towing the other truck at fault. Anyways, I reported the accident with Progressive because I needed my car fixed asap. That being said, they took my $1000 deductible out of the worth of my car. They said it would be recovered later via subrogation. It's now been almost 11 months and no money has been recovered. Progressive says they will exhaust efforts to collect the money at the 1 year mark. Progressive sucks. I paid over $200 a month for full coverage insurance. You'd think for having to be that kind of money, the least they could do was make a real effort to recover my deductible since I wasn't even at fault.

I was the victim of a “staged auto accident” in North Charleston, SC on December 14,2017. I was exiting a gas station into three lanes of traffic stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Rivers and Remount Rd. The first vehicle saw that I was trying to enter the street and stopped, The vehicle in the second lane also stopped. The vehicle in the third lane stopped. I was stopped broadside in the third lane waiting for the light to change when the third vehicle drove forward and hit the door behind the driver’s side door on my 2008 Saab Combi Station wagon.
My thought at that moment was that this was either intentional or the driver was distracted in some way and took their foot off the brake. I got out of my car and approached the other car. The driver's side window rolled down and I could see what I thought at the time was a woman talking very aggressively on a cell phone. There were also 3 other passengers in the car. None of them said a word. There were no complaints of injury.
I inspected my car but did not see the damage in the lower door panel. It was 5:30 PM, a rainy night. North Charleston is a neighborhood where the crime rate is three times the national average and the homicide rate is greater than Chicago on a per capita basis. I decided not to exchange papers in the middle of this busy intersection and drove down the street approx. 100 yards to an open Auto Parts store with a lighted parking lot. The driver of the other car did not follow me. However he took my license plate number and reported the accident as a “head-on collision” and reported that he and his three passengers all sustained bodily injury. Progressive Insurance paid him and his three friends over $21,000.
If you are somehow connected to the “Progressive Group” I want to speak with you about getting a “letter of explanation” from Progressive. I have three times emailed the Claims Inspector Danielle ** and I have three time emailed the CEO Of Progressive Tricia Griffith.... I have left a complaint with the NCIB and I will continue to complain about these “Staged Accidents” until something is done about them. This is a national epidemic and rather than express any outrage the easy solution is for Progressive to pay the fraudulent claim… then argue that a statewide increase in rates is necessary but also enter this “accident” as a black mark against my driving record so now my wife and I pay over $700 more per year for auto insurance. I want a “letter of explanation” submitted to me so that I can give it to AAA and get my rates lowered.

The insurance company is refusing to pay the $1700 difference between the used engine they found somewhere and the engine that my manufacturer requires. This will nullify my warranty (unlimited miles through 2022) AND flag my car as not having the proper engine, so it will be worth nothing. Also will not be able to go to the dealer for service and what would have been free will cost me money.
They told me they aren't putting the required engine in because they don't have to. They don't care that the value of the car will be zero and the dealer will no longer work on the car AND that what work I should be able to have done for free as part of my warranty, will now cost me. That seems counter-intuitive for an insurance company who says they protect their customers. They care about MONEY, not people. Also, was told multiple conflicting stories every time I talked to them. Do yourself a favor and go with a company whose premium may be a little higher but who cares about its customers.

We had a hail storm on 7/19/19. We have had Progressive insurance since 2003. I called within an hour or so after hail storm. We had six vehicles all damages, windshields out and rear windows completely gone (literally baseball size hail) and lots of dents. The young lady I spoke with (very sweet) was not prepared to take care of 6 claims, a lot of cutting and pasting on her end.
30 minutes later, she said someone would call, she could not help because of the number of claims. I get not call back, so on 7/22/19 I call them back, 20 minutes later, again with the cutting and pasting, I am told that a supervisor will have to handle this and someone will call back. No one calls back so I call back on 7/23/19 (please understand the two vehicles we can drive, we probably shouldn't be) so I get another customer service person, not a supervisor but she can take my statement and schedule a time for the adjuster to come out. Which wasn't until 7/30/19 for three of the cars and 7/31/19 for the other three (very frustrated and confused). I should mention that every time I spoke to someone at Progressive they thanked me for being an Emerald member.
So on 7/24/19 when my claim rep. calls me I let him know that I didn't feel like a emerald member and was very frustrated with this process. He told me that he was part of the catastrophic incident team and that there was a lot of people affected. I was thinking you are an insurance company and this is what you do. He told me that if I had any questions or concerns he was my contact person. I had also told Progressive on my first call that all calls and contact was to go to me. Wife busy and works a lot.
So on 7/31/19 my wife forwards me a text she have received from Progressive saying, "We have been trying to reach you about your claim, please call this number." So I call the number. Whoever answered took my info and put me on hold, came back and said they had to transfer me to someone else, that person takes info and I am on hold and tells me, they have to transfer me to someone else (omg). I am then transferred to my claim representative.... I tell him that I have just been transferred twice just to get to him. He then tells me "I told you I was your contact." I said then why did they text my wife. He was a little abrupt with me and said, "Well we only have all the info on one of the cars that was a total loss, but most people rather wait till we have all info." I said ok.
So now we are on 8/2/19. No call back. I called my rep and left message, in all fairness he doesn't work on Friday, (works Sun-Thur) but I think I should have had a call on Thursday. So on Sunday still no call, I call, leave message and he calls me back a little later. We go over all the info up to that point, believe it or not they are still waiting for info on one of the cars. I get the info, money offering on the total loss cars, etc. Tell him I have to talk to my wife.
When I call him back to tell our decisions, I question the valuation on one of the vehicles and I am told that their basis for that value is based on two similar vehicles. I said, "That is kind of a small sample size," he said we that might be a small size, no that "is" a small sample size to base value on and BTW this is a 2011 Dodge Charger police model, hardly an exotic brand/model. Well still waiting on one almost three weeks after the fact. Needless to say when this is settled I now have to shop for car and homeowners insurance. Anyone have any suggestions??? I never rant like this but 16 years and we have never had less than four vehicles insured.... I expected a little more. Nils.

Accused me of fraudulent activity, because of the fact they’re saying it was a front to rear accident. Which there was and progressive was well aware of that months prior of this accident and THAT was due to THEIR insured driver who left their car in reverse and backed into my front end vehicle which caused my hood to not close properly, which they refused to pay that claim also!!!
And now I have an accident on my record, being charged a ** ton of money for insurance now AND I had full coverage. They didn’t fix or replace anything!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I am writing this review based off of an accident I had in 2016. I purchased this insurance because GEICO went up on me claiming that there were a lot of claims happening in my area. (As this was my fault!) To make a long story short, I had reinstated an old policy with them and didn’t know that my ex husband had taken me off of the policy. So if that was the case, then why was I allowed to make changes to the policy, take off two other cars and just add mine? They took all of my information, had my bank routing number and took out the money from my account. So I had a wreck, then they wouldn’t pay it because I wasn’t on the policy! Well DUUUH! When I called to explain that my son had insurance and my youngest had no license and wasn't driving, I was told that their policy is anyone in the house that turns 16 is added to your policy. I told them they snuck that document in and was told that "this is their policy and they understand that it's a lot to read but that's how they do it". UNETHICAL! I had to argue with them about the low ball value they put on it even though we were paying for a policy to cover a value of 30k. Progressive was even argumentative about the medical part, and finally I had enough and hired an Ambulance chaser attorney. Those jerks at Progressive settled with the Attorney for amounts we were originally asking for, in two days. I was pissed they wouldn't work directly with us without having to hire an Attorney. After that my daughter went to the hospital to get checked out, The next time the adjuster called and said that there is a problem with my policy for as the cars that is on the policy being registered to my address the policyholder.

Now they calling me about all the information letters address is Leison plate’s bank statement picture of mail with my name on it that comes to my house. They want me to send it all to them. Again they still haven’t looked at the car, read the police report or even got the car out of in pound which is as of today accumulated about $1200. Why they do this investigation.
When you call that office and leave a message they will never return your calls. One time they call back four days later. This had been going on for five weeks now. I thought Progressive Insurance Company was better than this. It seems like a mom and pop shop. It is terrible. I have had nothing but problems since the accident so now I am still waiting for them to determine if they going to cover the car. I’ll cancel my policy. If anybody reading this make sure you dot your I and cross your t's because if you're making a claim the first thing they will do is try to find a way out of it.

Although Progressive Insurance has good roadside service, their overall performance is really bad. I had a young man tell me when my windshield was broke that I was covered. I went and told my neighbor who was in the business to please replace it and they sent me a referral number. The referral Number came from Safelight who does their windshields and she said it will be pending until she heard from progressive. I wouldn’t got it done and was not worried because I was told I was covered. I was referred finally to a man named Gary office of CEO who was very arrogant and said even though I had my phone bills for proof that I have called them and was okayed, he said they’ll look into it but they doubt very much they’ll find anything. Then I went to Heather, CEO representative. She also lied to me and said she was going to take care of it because of the way it was handled and there was something wrong and I never heard from her again.
I will have this company one more month. I have picked out another one. The care and customer Service at progressive is absolutely horrible and now I am out over $200 because of their mistake. I hate this company. I hate being treated like that and lied to. Please there has to be another insurance company for you to go to. I heard Farmers was good. All I know is I never want this experience again. These people are just greedy and mean. I will hate every commercial that put out. I am lucky to be alive and not seriously injured. So were the people around me who I barley missed. They are denying my claim because I wasn't there in person to be told I could safely take my car. We have had Progressive Insurance for 10 years with no accidents and one small hail damage claim. Unfortunately we had an accident and they totalled our vehicle. I hope this never happens to you! Their first offer was insulting. I spent many hours researching what options cost and comparable vehicles. My adjuster could not answer simple questions I had on how they came up with their figures. He said they turn it over to JD Powers and he didn’t know their algorithm. I could figure it out and it cheated us out of money at every turn. They actually deduct adjusted seller price and he told me no one pays list. We did when we bought because our vehicle has limited inventory.
All in all it was a terrible experience and I can only imagine how many people get totally taken advantage of. I got them to come up 850 dollars. That didn’t even pay for the 1000 tires that we had just put on. Just be prepared for your low ball offer. Have homeowners with Hartford and I cannot tell you the difference in handling claims. Hartford bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. Progressive will try to give you least amount of money possible so do your homework and be prepared to deal with an adjuster who can’t explain how JD Powers algorithms work. No transparency at all.

I currently have three vehicles insured by Progressive, as well as a home and my son has a vehicle insured by Progressive. I experienced a chipped windshield on 03/17/19, and had the chip repaired by a glass company on the 25th of that same month. I also had the glass in a patio table repaired by that same company that same day, and received a separate receipt for each of the repairs, paying for each of the repairs at that time. I contacted Progressive Insurance/ASI Insurance (Auto Claims) on 04/01/19 and was instructed to submit a copy of the receipt which I did, faxing it and a cover sheet to Policy Holder Reimbursement and while doing so listed my policy number and the vehicle vin# to the receipt as instructed. I checked online on the status of my claim later that month and discovered that it was not listed.
I chatted online with a Progressive representative on 05/01/19 and determined that a claim had yet to be filed. That individual, Jennifer stated that their records did not indicate having received a receipt for repairs. She at that time asked that I once again fax the receipt to that same location, which I did the following day. I inadvertently sent the wrong receipt this time, and as a result sent another cover sheet and the correct receipt later that same day, including a note that said to disregard the earlier submitted receipt as it was incorrect. I checked online on 05/24/19 and noted a claim had been filed though it had yet to be paid, so I once again called Progressive. I spoke to various individuals from Progressive and later Safeco, Progressive's glass repair company at that time. They stated that they were "confused" as to what I was seeking reimbursement for as that had two receipts.
I explained the error, and once again sent them a copy of the correct receipt and a cover sheet, and at that time included the claim number to the receipt as instructed. I received an email message later that day saying that the claim had been forwarded for reimbursement. I checked the status of my claim on 06/24/19 as I had yet to be reimbursed, and at that time noticed that the claim was still "open" and had yet to be paid. I called Progressive once again and confirmed that the claim had yet to be paid even though it was a month since my last contact with them. I was placed on hold, and later reconnected to an individual who confirmed "nothing" had been done with the claim during the last month. That individual stated that she was too was confused as to what I was seeking as their records reflect two separate receipts, one for a windshield repair and another for a patio table glass replacement.
I once again explained the situation regarding the receipts and reemphasized my attempt to obtain reimbursement for the windshield repair, a mere $50.00 payment. She advised me that a check for $50.00 would be mailed, and that I should receive it in five to seven business days. I question my decision to obtain vehicle and home insurance coverage with Progressive, and will most likely seek coverage for my vehicle, as well as my son's vehicle and our home thru another carrier as a result of this situation, and their, Progressive's failure to act. It will have taken over three months by the time I obtain payment if it is truly received in five to seven business days.
I wonder what I would have to do, and how long it would take to settle a claim for a major/more expensive repair if it takes more than three months for this repair, a chipped windshield. It appears that you get what you pay for. I obtained coverage with Progressive last year as they offered the same coverage at a lower price than what I had previously obtained from another insurance carrier. Once again, think before you act, sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side.

I followed the online quote instructions and completed the questions accurately. Then the final screen asked if I wanted to accept and pay bill. I chose yes. It then said I would be receiving an email shortly. I received an email but it was not a confirmation. Rather it asked for a copy of my DL. Which I scanned and sent. 2 days later I got an email not confirming rather to take photos of my car (for a liability only policy). So I did and sent the photos. 2 days later I received another email asking for copies of my existing auto policy as well as proof of residency. I provided those and sent it in then two days later I received another email saying the credentials I sent do not match the application. Which they did exactly.
I then called Progressive only to speak with an operator who said, "There's nothing I can do. The system won't accept any operator input." I have to email. This is been going on now for over a month. Waste of time. You're better off spending more money with another company. At least you'll be able to talk to a real person who can control your account.

Finally I get a voice mail from my field agent saying she finally looked at my car Monday of the next week. The day she called was Wednesday of the next week. I tried calling the field agent multiple times, and it was almost like she disappeared, then I returned my rental only to find out that progressive didn’t cover 1 week of the rental which charged me 180$, just for my car to wait on their slow, inadequate, not professional, shady, field agent. I had Progressive for years and was very happy with them initially. To their credit, they were always very easy to deal with and even told me, without my having to ask or push for it, that I was not at fault when my car was damaged in a construction zone, so I didn't have to pay anything. Later, though, things started going downhill with them. First, I put up with their annoying driving monitor plugged into my car, beeping at me every time I braked "hard" (and it really didn't take much), which in the end made me a less safe driver because I started preferring to go through intersections when I'd typically stop at them (light just about to turn red or even just turned red) just to keep it from registering a hard brake.
It was also collecting much more information than just braking, which wasn't disclosed (it may have been in the fine print, but I digress). Anyways, despite taking extreme efforts to minimize "hard" brakes and dealing with the annoying beeping for months, I was told simply that I didn't qualify for any discounts from it. That annoyed me, and made me wonder if it was more about just collecting data than assessing driving habits for possible discounts--I say this not only due to my experiences, but reading similar statements by many others online at the time--but it wasn't enough to drive me away.
What did that was when my car was backed into, while parked, without me even in it, by a family member. I called Progressive and notified them of it (big mistake), but then told them to cancel the claim because the other insurance company was going to cover both cars. Despite the fact Progressive never paid a single cent toward repairs, and I wasn't even in the car at the time, they took away my good driver discount. Unfortunately, I didn't notice for months, so it ended up costing quite a bit of money. And they refused to do anything about it. So I switched and will never go back.
They lost a several year customer over something that frankly should be (and maybe is) illegal. I'm torn between 1 and 2 stars for them. I considered 2 due to the years of excellent service, but ultimately the level of dishonesty, to the point of possibly being illegal, that they engaged in, is just too much to give them anything but the lowest rating possible.

I searched for affordable rates to cover my car. I’ve been with GEICO for years and love them but since I am a senior citizen on a very limited income, every penny counts. Progressive gave me full coverage for a rate that was $75 cheaper (per 6 month period - $12.50/mo). The bill for 6 months was $481. So I went with them. Six weeks later (yesterday morning), I received an email that said I had a bill due with them for $863!!! Due in 2 weeks. WHAT!!??
I stopped everything to look into this - wasting 6 hrs of valuable work time, to find out that they had added my 2 children (age 20 & 18) and also my ex-husband, who I divorced 3 yrs ago and do not see or speak to. So I spent the next several hours trying to prove to Progressive that I was divorced (I had to email them my Divorce Decree!!) and that my 20 yr old does not, and never did, live with me! My 18-yr old lives with me part time and all I could do with him was sign an “exclusion.” But still had to pay the prorated amount up to today.
I sent the Divorce Decree (humiliating and difficult to even look at - still grieving!!) and took care of the 18 yr old issue. The 20 yr old was a different issue. To prove he didn’t live with me they needed 2 items from a short list they provided. His driver's license is one thing but it HAD TO BE ISSUED WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS or it doesn’t count. They wanted things like a utility bill, mortgage or rental agreement - none of which applies to him because he is a full time college student (currently on summer break - today is 6/12/19) who lives with his dad. All of the household bills are in his dad’s (my ex’s) name!! They would take a college tuition bill but he has to be CURRENTLY ENROLLED!!! He’s on summer break!!
A W-2 or 1099 would work - but he doesn’t work for anyone. The only other things were Property Tax statements or Social Security statements. I talked to 3 people at Progressive and they do NOT budge on this list. It has to be from the list!! No exceptions. Every day that goes by that I cannot resolve this, I am paying $7.50. I live on a very low, fixed income. I had no other choice but to stop everything and handle this. The final verdict was, they credited my ex-husband’s charge (because divorce decree), stopped currently charging me 18 yr old, and nothing could be done about the 20 yr old. I canceled my policy at 12am the next day - went back to GEICO (who were surprised at my story and suggested I file a complaint to the TX Board of Insurance (I am) - and my $75 savings ended being $526 overcharge.
My advice - NEVER, EVER, EVER GO WITH PROGRESSIVE!!! Can you imagine what they would be like if you had an accident and really needed them to pay??? They probably wouldn’t because “you weren’t wearing blue shoes” or something as ridiculous as that. I am filing a complaint with the TX Board of Insurance, the TX Attorney General’s Office, the BBB, and anyone else I can think of. To put that much stress on a senior citizen is cruel!! $863 is 45% of my monthly budget.

The body shop warned me, "Progressive might offer you a "After Market Part" to replace your bumper." I told the service guy no way... I do not have an after market part on my car so I am not getting an after market part.
June 7th spoke with Lucas my claims adjuster and sure enough he told me Progressive was going to put an after market part to replace my back bumper. I told him no as well. I have since escalated my issue and everyone keeps telling me Progressive has the right to offer an after market part to save costs. The cost difference is $160 which Progressive said I could pay. Why should I have to pay for this expense when I have insurance. Nowhere in my policy does it state I am "required" to have an after market part. Progressive you make millions of dollars and you will not give me a "factory bumper"?
I am very upset. My car is just sitting at the body shop waiting for me to decide if I want my car repaired or not. I have called Doyle ** Manager over Lucas and Chris. I've been a Progressive Insurance customer since 2009. Initially I held only an auto policy for our vehicles, later adding a homeowners policy in 2016 when we purchased a new home. We had one small auto claim (less than $3,000) after a backing incident involving one of our cars, and a family member's car on our property, and we've never filed a claim against our homeowners policy. Our auto policy has been on an automatic bank draft since the policy started, and has been paid on time every month for over 10 years. Our Homeowners policy is escrowed, and has also been paid on time when due. All in all, I have had great service, reasonable rates as compared with other companies I had received quotes from, and was never left with any concerns or complaints.
In March 2019 my mortgage was transferred to another company. We have never missed a mortgage payment, and conservatively speaking we were on time with roughly 95% of our payments. What few late mortgage payments there were, they were never more than 14 days overdue. Life's circumstance sometimes put us all a little behind. My monthly mortgage statement for June, 2019 showed an increase in my monthly mortgage payment of $215.11 due to a projected "escrow shortage". A closer look at the escrow statement showed that our Insurance premium was listed at $2,563.00, which is nearly double the previous few year's amounts of $1,340.
Initially I assumed the new mortgage servicer had made an error when determining the amount of our yearly insurance premium, however after speaking with Progressive customer service I quickly found out my mortgage company did indeed have the correct premium amount, and that Progressive underwritten by Homesite had nearly doubled my homeowner's premiums. As expected I was taken back quite a bit by the news, as I do not live in an area that is prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, etc., and again have never filed a homeowners claim. What in the world could have caused my premiums to nearly double?
My credit report. Now without getting too personal, I have had some issues with repayment on my Federal Student Aid loans, which are now being garnished from my wages. Despite the fact my Fed loans are being repaid, and despite the fact I have never had any issues making on time payments to Progressive on either my home or auto policies, my homeowner's policy has doubled.
When asked why there was such a dramatic increase it was explained to me that they conduct annual reviews of customer credit reports, and my credit history makes me a "risk". They have used my credit history to stereotype my behavior, stating for instance "people with credit history problems, are less likely to maintain their homes responsibly" for example "not making necessary repairs or replacements to a roof". The entire thought process behind this boggles my mind, infuriates me, and makes me wonder if it's even legal.

Do you randomly collect stranger's insurance info? Do you then commit insurance fraud by reporting false claims? Because Progressive insurance claims and adjusters must believe this is quite common. Progressive conveniently believe their driver (who hit my car as I was driving my young daughter to practice) when he simply said he didn't hit us. He said this after he backed into my vehicle, got out of his car (because when you're NOT in an accident you stop reversing, pull back into your spot, get out of your car, and approach the driver of the car you DIDN'T hit?). The damage on my car magically appeared the same day he hit us, and on the same day, he also got out of his car and walked up to a complete stranger and handed me his insurance card, which I took a photo of.
So the lesson? When you hit someone, just lie and say you didn't. Progressive doesn't want to pay anyway, so lying is convenient for them. The police wouldn't come to the accident because it was in a parking lot. My insurance company will investigate and hopefully recover the money, but it will take months. This despite a plethora of evidence that their client hit me. The man simply removed the hitch from his truck. So the "experienced" adjuster concluded the damage wasn't consistent with the height of his bumper. I never post on this kind of forum, but the dishonesty is so blatant I thought others should be aware. The Progressive claims agent is named Joy **, so if you ever deal with her be skeptical as she is eager to help Progressive rip people off.

They claim they are entitled to 10% of the premiums due had I had the policy for six months, not 10% of the monthly premium I already prepaid. I am a 71 year that have had a very disturbing experience with my Progressive insure plan. Experienced a necessary sudden stop while driving my car. My front teeth were impacted & required restoration. I reported incident to Progressive immediately. Now 3 months later I have had to personally pay for my dental procedures. I have never had an auto claim for 50 years driving. I now have had 3 different insurance claim officers handling this 1 claim. Submitted all necessary paperwork. No response from yet another claim adjuster after many calls. You have to ask yourself after paying insurance for all these years why your own insurance company is offering no support or follow-up with doctors. Go to an insurance carrier that gives back what you pay for. Investigator on behalf of Progressive never contacted any of my doctors on my behalf. Perhaps they should start paying their obligations rather than running nation TV ads.

We went with Progressive last November 2018 and thought they were going to be different than other companies that constantly find excuses to raise your rates. Well that all went up in smoke the other day when we called to let them know we had a change of address. After making the address change they raised our automotive insurance due to moving to the country. When we asked why, they said there were more deer in the country. I had to laugh because ten years ago when we moved to the city another company raised our rates because we were moving to a more congested area. Now I am wondering if they will be charging for hog and cows.

I have been a Progressive customer for 5 years. I moved from NJ to Fl where my insurance rate more than tripled! In December 2018 my car was parked in front of my house in the middle of the night when it was hit and almost totaled. The driver of the other vehicle got out of his car and ran leaving his vehicle at the scene. I was extremely impressed with how quickly Progressive paid my claim and got my car back on the road- until it was time to renew my policy and my monthly payment went up by $200!!! No one at Progressive could tell me why my insurance rate changed. I was not at fault for my vehicle being hit because I was in the house sleeping. I'm pretty sure this is the reason that they raised my rates. I have never gotten into an accident myself, have always paid my monthly premium in full and on time and have been a loyal customer for 5 years. If you're looking for affordable insurance, DO NOT USE PROGRESSIVE!!!

But Progressive raised my rate stating that my health insurance is not covering the cost. When my health insurance is not being used to pay for medical cost. They still raised my rate by 435 dollars. I'm being penalized and they still keep saying that I have to pay because my insurance isn't going to cover. I explained to the moron speaking to me that the other insurance was paying. I was kept on hold and only to be told I still had to pay.. I'm not paying. I'm changing companies and they can get some other sucker to pay. It's a shame. I have a good driving record and I'm being penalized for someone hitting me. Never again Progressive. You guys stink... bad policies and practices. I will tell everyone I can what you do.

First off, I get transferred to y’all by The General. I had prior talked to 3 agents there that send me on a run around. Then I get transferred to y’all and the first agent gave me a fax number to call. Didn’t even transfer me. I had to write down a number. I called 6 times!!! Then calling back y’all, I get told by the second agent that it’s the wrong number and so he gave me another number. I call and it’s a health brokerage. I end up looking up the number to an independent agent because obviously calling the 800 number wasn’t getting me anywhere, and again I get sent to the health brokerage company.
So I call y’all back, I speak to a woman who listens to me but doesn’t say anything and just transfers me to some guy. I tell him I’m quite upset and he can’t figure why she sent me to him cause he isn’t even part of the agency to give me a policy. So he transfers me to a woman. She goes to tell me to keep calling that number and acted like I got the number wrong but I’ve called and I’ve doubled checked. I told her all I wanted was some Auto Insurance. She saying "I can’t help you, call that number." “What good will it do to call a number that doesn’t work?” And again she keeps saying "I can’t do anything. I can’t help you." It’s your job to help me.
Finally she tells me to call a different independent agent. Again, gives me another number to write down. I call them and they say "sorry you have to come in." At this point I’m flaming. At least that person was decent. How can you say you’re please with your track record? I’m paying almost 300$ a month to be treated like that. It took almost 3 hrs to get insurance when it could have been a 30 minute thing. I hope that y’all get some better people to help because being told “I can’t help you” when it’s your job is kind of stupid. I wasn’t ever rude but sure was angry when all was said and done.

My wife and I have been with Progressive for our auto insurance for the past 13 years (all in Oregon), first for our Honda, and for our 2012 Prius for the past 4 years. We recently received a non-renewal notice and were told it was because we had 3 claims in the past 3 year. Those claims were all from other people: one was from a BMW owner whose bumper I tapped at about 1 mph in stop and go traffic, one was from a truck owner whose truck was parked illegally on a narrow road and I clipped his side mirror (but did not break it) avoiding oncoming traffic, and the third was someone who rear-ended me in a parking lot. I called several times, asked to appeal the decision, and spoke to a supervisor, all with the same result. They said they don't care who was at fault, nor the amount of the claim (all three together totaled less than $3,000); they only count the number of claims and that was too many.
The previous 10 years didn't matter, nor did who was at fault, nor did the amount. And the "review" process was literally me asking them to review it and them coming back to me and saying, "We reviewed it and our decision stands"; i.e. no evidence or argument was presented, they just "reviewed" and saw there were 3 claims in 36 months. The oldest of those 3 will be more than 3 years old TWO WEEKS after what would've been our renewal date. I guess if you never have to file a claim, Progressive is great, but if you want to be listened to at all or treated as a valued customer, no. (And I realize that may just be true of all insurance companies.)

USAA recommended I contact Progressive for Commercial Auto Insurance. Progressive provided an outrageous quote in the sum of roughly 19 thousand dollars for one year. They explained to me that was due to the fact that I had 3 points on my driving record. Soon thereafter I paid for an up to date certified driving record from the MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration). Maryland is the only state for which I have a valid driver's license. Therefore, it is the only information that can be obtained properly for which all quotes would be based after!
After reviewing the driving record it showed 0 points. Therefore, Progressive had wrongly quoted me for the insurance because they had falsified the information. I went ahead and contacted the 3rd party broker to clarify the wrong information that was given on the quote to see if the quote could be adjusted properly. Until this day, they have yet to respond. That is a poor way of doing business and I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Talked to a Progressive rep about why I'd gotten a C- on my snapshot review and found that if you drive your car more than about 30 miles a day, your driving is looked at as a negative. I live about 30 miles from a city that is large enough to have stores I shop at. I took a trip to see my son and his family and that's 530 miles one-way. I have a farm that is 75 miles one-way and I make a trip over there about once a month. So basically if you drive your car any distance over 30 miles a day or want to take it on trips, forget about using snapshot to save money on your Progressive insurance.

Instead charged me for another month of April 2019 figured the vehicle was still being drove when I said it wasn't told them on the phone it wasn't and still added a late charge to the bill of $10 dollars. Then sent the bill to a bill collector to collect money from me after charging with a late fee stacked on top of that 1 month. later. Then threatened me about the mvd going after me for penalties for no reason that I do not owe or know. I have great credit and always have for 32 yrs.
Progressive threatened or tried to ruin it/my credit cause I canceled their policy and the manager Scott looked up the wrong recording of that conversation we had on the phone cancellation on the 25th. So the less you want to pay the higher your insurance. Forget about getting full coverage HA. Even with good driving record, discounts and years of loyalty would still come out to roughly 350 a month. They don’t care about you. Only the money you're going to give up. They conveniently leave out information about their snap shot as well. Let's say you don’t want to continue on with the snap shot program there is a penalty for ending it BEFORE they give you the ok to do so. SO if Progressive doesn’t give you the ok to end it early you get charged $35 to your insurance.

I drove my car after the person hit me and heard a noise coming from my right side and knew I had to get it in the shop to see what was going on and what needed to be fixed. We were told on each call that the form had been sent but it had not. We spent all this time at the MVA and received the document 21 minutes before the MVA closed. This cost us another day of payment to the tow yard where my car was placed and we had to return to the MVA the next day in order to complete our business. I have never experienced such horrible customer service ever before with any business.
We were repeatedly told that the form had been sent and finally got an associate that told us that the form had not been done and it was then 3:30PM. Don't know how he can say that without even coming out of his car. My auto accident detail. On March 22nd around 2pm I was driving on Citrus Ave south bound for my dentist appt. I was driving in extreme rt lane. As soon as I crossed Adna on Citrus, I suddenly felt loss of control on my car and it was deviating to rt side. It did hit the rt side of curb and then went over the curb. I had no idea what happened and how it happened. I was trying to straighten my car and bring it down from curb. And that's what I did. When I got my car down from over the curb, I saw one black car behind me. The driver and passenger were sitting in car, very relaxed, no intention to get out of car.
I went to them and asked, "What happened, are you ok." Driver said, "You hit my car, but no damage is done or no one hurt." I do not understand without getting out from his car or looking at his car he can make that statement. He took picture of my car and wanted to take off. I told him that I want to make police report. He said there is no need because he had no damage or physical injury. He told me he has no time for police to come, he has to go. He took picture of my car and was ready to take off. I told him, "What about your information, I have nothing on you." I photocopied his driver licence and passport, and he took off. #1 if his car is behind my car how I can hit him. Without checking car he makes the statement that there is no damage to his car.
I was in shock, I had no idea what happened and how it happened. I just took eyeball look on my car, both front tire were flat and axle broken, all joints of car popped out, there were dents on back of car on both side. I did not inspect my car in great detail. I had no idea of damage. I was thinking what to do. When I was thinking what to do, in 10 minutes 3 police officer came. I asked them, "Are you here to make police report." They said, "No, we only make police report when both party are present. We came here just to make sure that you are safe and if you need any kind of help." They also took a vague eyeball look at car, did not look for any damage in detail. I got my car towed to nearby collision center and called my insurance Progressive.
My claim adjuster was Julia. She took my statement and recorded it. It all happened in seconds. I gave the statement, which according to her very scratchy. After that I kept on thinking it does not make any sense and tried to put puzzle togather. Next day I went to accident spot with my friend who is not claim adjuster but very very smart in figuring out things. He inspected the site, marks and told, "He rear ended you, your car lost balance, hit the curb which damaged the tires and went over the curb."
Next day I called Julia, my claim adjuster and explained her about the damage of my car and explanation. She agreed with all that and also said there is black strip all the way from front to back on my driver side. Also she said there is green strip of paint on passenger side of other driver from front to back. I told her that if I hit his car there should be burgundy paint on his car, which is not there. He hit my car, that's why there is back paint on my driver side of my car. I have no idea how it happened and can't explain more than that she told me. Now I am convinced that it is other driver fault and I am transferring case to All State. Other driver's insurance. Which she did next day from. All State Kathy ** called me and took my recorded statement, which I gave her in detail.
Few days later I got call from All State # **. I think he was damage assessor, he told me, "Your car is total loss. We will pay you 10800$ for it and 700$ for storage the car." Kathy ** also told me that they will pay for mid size car rental car from the day of accident. I agreed to terms then after 7-10 days I just called All State about my status. Kathy ** picked the phone and said Progressive took all the liability and there is no claim. I was shocked. No one informed me anything. I asked Kathy, "Do you know why this sudden change," she said, "I do not know, call Progressive."
I called Progressive, they won't listen, just like parrot repeating the same old things and said, "Based on evidence we decided it is your fault," when they don't have even single evidence that it is my fault. Other very interesting thing is that other driver, he did not reported accident to his insurance, but reported to Progressive and claimed the damage. I asked my Progressive claim adjuster, "If there was damage why he did not report to his insurance, and sent claim? I don't know how he can say that without even coming out of his car."
5/8/2019 why you did not report to your insurance. Peter told her, "Since there was no damage, no one got hurt, I did not feel like I need to report to my insurance." On the other side he puts claim to Progressive for damages. What a fraud or lawyer. Progressive has no answer for it and they do not want to discuss it. When I asked Progressive for answer and explanation of it, they keep on repeating same old thing like parrot, won't give any explanation and said we made our decision on evidence base. She said case is closed. You can go to court if you want to and I have no choice but to hire a lawyer. It is very hard to find a lawyer unless some body injury is involved. I don't know how to proceed it, hopefully you can help me in this matter. Thanks.

The agent on the phone advised me that she would cancel the policy by April 3rd. They Charged my bank account in April, 7 days later and then again today 05/07/19. I immediately called them as they have caused my bank account to go into overdraft. The 1st agent got rude with me telling me they are not refunding anything, because the agent that I originally spoke with back in April told me to send in a bill of sale or transfer of title for the vehicle and then the policy will be cancelled Which is not at all true.
In April the agent I spoke with said she would go ahead and cancel the policy on 04/03/19 and that she wanted to let me know that "my State requires that I send in the Bill of Sale or Title transfer". When I got off the phone with her I call the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles and asked them if I needed to provide that to cancel an Insurance policy and was advised "NO"... that I either had to get appropriate coverage elsewhere or turn in my plates so my license wouldn't get suspended. So I bought a Chrysler 300, transferred the plates from my Mercury Sable and got coverage With Geico in April.
I have spoken with 4 different people today and it wasn't until I spoke with the 3rd "Brittany" whom I asked, “Why are y'all giving me such a hard time with this now. When this same exact car was insured with Progressive under someone else's policy, in the very same city & state and then cancelled... I was not asked for any of this.” I had no problem cancelling (I also wasn't on auto draft payments either).
Now suddenly for the 1st time ever, (after being placed on hold for 10 mins and 57 sec so Brittany can find out why, herself) it’s brought to my attention that Progressive has a secret, unwritten, policy (not my resident State) that they claim states "That you cannot cancel a policy within the first 60 days without providing proof that I no longer have the car or that the car is insured with a different company.” I wanted to know why this was never mention before. I requested this Policy in writing and was advised that it could not be provided to me as a hard copy, then my husband asked if it could be emailed and again I was advised that it could not because it was something that only they could see in their system. I'M VERY PISSED OFF AND DISSATISFIED WITH PROGRESSIVE... DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AUTO DRAFT.

Progressive refused to give me a rental. They said until the car is in a shop being repaired.
I didn't receive an estimate from them until now to put it in a shop but now that it is they finally want to give me a rental and the rental place they set me up with is telling me they don't have vehicles and this is the second day now of that and when they do have something Progressive is only allowing me a certain vehicle which is a small car because they don't want to pay more than $25/day.. I own a 7 person SUV for a reason.. IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A RUN AROUND!!
So far I had to take pics and video and send it in, I had to get ahold of the person to figure out which insurance they had because Progressive wanted me to just claim it under my own, I had to get ahold of the police report and email it because they said that would be faster.. That was a joke because it's still 3 weeks later and nothing done, I've been going back and forth with Progressive over all this.. And now I realize I need to look into better insurance because I know for sure I never want to go through this again! I'm being treated as if I've done something wrong.. My car was parked and someone hit it and tried to run but it's all in the police report! I Can't take my kids to their events, I have missed school and work.. It's a nightmare and they act as if it's no big deal!

An adjuster called me on the 29th after I left two messages to say he is not sure if there’s coverage, that I might be better off going through my own insurance. Really? I told the him I have accident forgiveness on my policy and I want to use it up because someone to hit me! You need to make a determination if they have coverage and get back to me, today. Today is Thursday May 2 and I’m still trying to track him down to see how many days it takes to determine if they have an active policy! Crazy!!

I was/am being cancelled for my auto policy because I used the roadside assistance two times within the first 30 days of securing my policy with the company. My husband’s battery died while he was at work and my car was a casualty of a vehicle recall (the transmission was in drive, but the shift gear was in park) and I had to have my car towed to the dealership to get the recall fixed. I called in because of an email I received. This was when I found out I was being cancelled - by the Progressive Underwriters - for using my ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE within the first 30 days.
Please understand both incidents happened due to circumstances beyond our control. The roadside assistance is an add-on option that I pay extra for. I was told that because I used the Roadside assistance within the 1st 30 days, I was considered a "HIGH RISK" Customer and that the company did not want "my type" doing business with them, it was just too risky. My first payment had just been drafted out of my account less than 24 hours after being posted to my account.

DO NOT FALL FOR THE SLICK Progressive television ADS. No way to recommend their auto insurance. Totally inflexible for policy requirements but take the money upfront, demand verification documents afterwards and charge for cancellations. Realistically spend time in two states - California and in Oklahoma to help with elderly mother.
Want to leave older 17 year old car in Oklahoma but could not provide the limited, acceptable to them documentation of garaging address. Provided several available state and federally recognized documents as proof of garaging address, but not acceptable; so cancelled the policy. Then they tried to charge me a $50.00 cancellation fee. The irony of it all is that I have had motorcycle coverage with them for several years, have not had an incident of moving violations or accidents in over ten years, and drive less than 10k miles per year. You would think that would qualify as a damn good risk and be more flexible for a fluid situation. NO WAY ----- NOT ONE CENTIMETER OF MOVEMENT TOWARDS REASONABLE.

I recently changed from Geico to Progressive because of a significant decrease in monthly premiums. My husband was insured with Progressive for years before we were married, which is why we merged our policies and went with Geico. I changed to this company and then, as luck would have it, hit a deer just one week later. I filed a claim, just as I should have, and have been given nothing but the runaround in regards to my claim. For lack of better words, the employees here have insinuated that I am a liar and basically are assuming I only changed for a lower deductible. NOT THE CASE.
I have been asked for unreasonable things to be sent. Ie: Timecards for the week, calling my mother to corroborate the "story", making me 3 way them with my bank to ensure payment was received, and asking for documents from the previous insurance agency, which they made me call and speak verbally about already to confirm coverage. I am absolutely appalled at the way I have been treated and the process isn't over. I do not recommend this company to anyone ever and unfortunately it looks like I may have to get a lawyer involved to get a payout for a deer accident. What a joke, right?

I paid for a 6 mo auto insurance policy up front. I was then sent a bill a month later through email saying bill ready to view. I didn't look at it because I figured it was just saying paid. They charged me almost 150 dollars because of a ticket that was falling off my record (I thought it already had). They then charged me a late payment. If they are going to charge me for a ridiculous ticket that was going to be gone from my record within a month of establishing the policy they should make a call or at least the email should specify changes. Their customer service was also garbage when I contacted them and pretty much just told me tough luck the disclosure was in the agreement. So now I would say tough luck to them as I will no longer be a customer through them and advise others to avoid them as well.

My vehicle was not covered for repairs even though I was not at fault in the accident. While I was driving down a street a lady entered my road lane from a street intersection on my right. She did not wait enough to let me pass her and struck my right rear quarter panel with the left front corner of her SUV. I had the right of way since I did not have a stop sign or light yet the story she told Progressive was enough to get them to not cover the claim and repair my car. They claimed they could not determine who was at fault even though she admitted to entering my lane to the police.
The police report put her at fault which was correct but she was not issued a ticket. The report clearly states she impeded my way of travel. I had the right of way. If she would have waited 1/2 longer I could have passed her. I was not at fault yet based on what she told them which was a lie. I was not granted the claim repairs even though she was put at fault on the report. The impact locations on each vehicle justifies everything also. I am so mad on how this was handled. I took over 2 weeks for them to make this decision too! I just don’t understand how they can get away with this. I was not at fault, not one bit!

When we called their office, all we got was another runaround and even was offered the wonderful opportunity to wait only god knows how long for another check to be issued and sent. I sustained extensive water damage to my home on 3/8/2019. Today is 4/28/2019 and the damage is still there with what appears to be mold. The Progressive Claims Adjuster finally delivered the estimate on 4/15/2019. Progressive Insurance took 5 weeks and 3 days to work the claim and at no time during that 5 weeks and 3 days did they reach out to my HOA (for a potential dual claim situation). This means that now my HOA has just started the insurance process with their insurance company (Travelers Insurance).
I am now at 7 weeks and 2 days post damage and I am waiting for yet another insurance company to work their claim and meanwhile I am living in a water damaged home with what appears to be mold! The HOA’s insurance company couldn’t even come to inspect the damage until 4/29/2019 – which means I am relegated to living in these conditions for at least several more weeks. I made MANY attempts to contact Progressive Insurance to check the status of my claim – most of these attempts went unanswered. I am going to repeat that it took Progressive Insurance 5 weeks and 3 days to work the claim and at no time during that 5 weeks and 3 days did they reach out to my HOA. In addition to the horrific customer service, I feel Progressive’s handling of my claim should be classified as malpractice. And I would ask if this is even lawful to just leave someone living in these conditions?

I finally found out that I didn’t review my policy to confirm them. I told them I’ve called their customer service and the girl added second car to my policy. If it was such a big for them to do the review then why the agent added second car and didn’t tell me after I added to contact their underwriter? Anyways for 19 days they charged me for 189.73 plus $50 cancellation fee. I talked to the manager to waive it since I didn’t cancel they did. The answer was NO. Anyways I got a better insurance, better coverage and I pay less. Be aware, Progressive starts cheaper then every month the price goes up. Don’t be fooled.

I changed insurance companies from MetLife to Progressive because I was told that it was less expensive. In the everything is more expensive state of Texas. They already have proof of my bank that has my address and my car statement has my address, but to them that does not prove I live where my car is at. They took my payment out and then sent a cancellation of non-proof of car location. "Where the car is garaged." Along with that It it has to be within the last 30 days. But I got the insurance March 5th. I don't work and I am currently being helped at by family members. They are cancelling my insurance because I don't have proof of employment which they know is illegal. So they are stating another reason. They are cancelling my insurance and that is the address is not verifiable. If I could give zero stars I would. Worst insurance ever and is not less expensive - cost just as much as all the others. MetLife is the better insurance company.

I absolutely loathe the Snapshot device. Instead of grading me for my driving, it’s actually grading me mostly on other people’s driving. The Snapshot device does not take into account the actions of drivers around you, so when a driver pulls out in front of you without an appropriate amount of distance to do so safely and you have to decelerate quickly, you get punished. Any time you slow down more than 7 mph in a sec, you get dinged. I drive in heavy traffic. On the interstate, the traffic will be flowing around 70-75 mph, then come to a standstill with no warning.
Guess what? Progressive dings you for that. I hate hearing that stupid noise. It’s actually contributing to bad habits instead because instead of stopping for that yellow light, I have to speed up and beat it to keep from gaining another incident for a hard stop. I’ve had other people with me in the car multiple times who would testify that I did not stop hard, but I got dinged for a hard stop. I paid extra for safety programs like Honda Sensing, and even my Honda Sensing got dinged on cruise control. I loathe this device, and the sooner I can switch insurance companies, the better!

Progressive is a ripoff. Not only did they not fix my car when it wasn't our fault but I saved over $120.00 a month by changing insurance companies. My wife was hit by a guy who ran a red light doing over 45 mph in the driver's rear of the car. His insurance were claiming they weren't gonna pay due to his vehicle having the wrong vin number was off one digit. So we paid the five hundred dollar deductible so they would start work on our car and progressive could go after the person at fault. The damage done to our car was estimated at 6500 dollars. When we got the car back the car roared and sounded like an airplane in the rear end. I took the car back and they said it all lined up and it was just tire noise. I then asked if my tires were not covered by insurance and they said of course but tires are pretty wore and they weren't covering it.
So eight months rocked on and I finally got new tires and the roaring was still there. I called progressive up and told them and the representative said adjuster would be calling and they would get it fixed. Adjuster called next day and said take it back up there and let them look at it. So I did and the next day toward end of day I called up there and they said "we don't hear nothing" and I said go into a curve and you can hear it plain as day. The guy then say oh okay then it's a bearing. It's a bearing without even looking at it.
I got in my truck and drove straight up to the progressive shop in Warrensburg M.O. and they said they weren't going to fix it cause it's bearing assembly and it's just wear. I told them their sign says guaranteed and that when I first got car back they said it was the tire and that my car was the smoothest riding car on the road before wreck and they said "we have nothing to do with this. We have to do what progressive tells us to do". I then apologized for raising cane to them when it's all on progressives back and they said we see this all the time from progressive.
Called and fussed adjuster out with a message and he called back the next day saying the guy at the shop said it's just wear and tear and I said "your living let's just meet up there and all talk" and I said "I know it's your call and you lied about the tires and now you're lying about wear and tear". He said "I'm not doing nothing about this" and I said "fine you just lost my business" and he snarled in an unprofessional voice and said go fine go ahead.
This wasn't our fault and progressive cut corners on my claim. Ive never dealt with insurance company that don't care about making customer happy. They wouldn't give a rental car either so for almost two weeks without a car and they could have got money back from other insurance that decided they would pay. We wanted rental insurance added and they wanted fifty more a month. And like I said they were 120 dollars higher than anyone else I called. Thats my last experience I will have with progressive insurance.

After they assigned a claims adjuster to my case everything went to hell. This person hasn’t even update me on the case. I keep asking her. She doesn’t respond or calls me.

I was a loyal customer for many years, Moved out of state, then back again. Somehow the rate went way up no explanation. So I switched and saved over 40.00 per month. Now there is a fee of 50.00 for early cancellation. No matter what you do to save money these insurance companies make you bleed money. I will never use progressive again.
How many people read every piece of material, they send where is this fee, written in? It should be stated at the time you purchase your insurance, by the person selling the policy. Not hidden in some mound of papers. So instead of saving money by getting away from them it is costing me 61.00 to get away from them. Here is my research: Despite that Progressive’s revenues are still growing, increasing by an impressive 14.448% during 3rd Quarter 2017. Progressive reported revenues of $6.605 billion in June 2017 and $6.791 billion in September 2017. Revenues were $5.935 billion in September 2016. Plus my $61.00. I was charge 14.30 for the remaining period and 82.60 for the full month after. While trying to get this resolved because they should not keep a person’s money I found out if I cancelled my insurance I would not get the money back because they would remove the discounts for good drive and being an 11 year customer. They were very quick to increase my payment but prorated the overpayment stating that the billing was already established in the system. This is odd because their system will increase and decrease payments on activity all the time. There is no reason they should be allowed to overcharge you on a payment and not return it right away but instead pro-rate it and if you cancel keep it.

They called me claiming they can't pay more than 5k (note my Camaro was totaled and had a value of over 18k) as their client had kept his collision limit to 5k. The police report also clearly states it was his fault. By far the worst company to ever deal with or choose. Nothing but a bunch of crooks. The Progressive client and my son blew through the stop sign at an intersection, in a rural part of town. My son was to the right of the client and entered was present in the intersection first. The client struck my son on the rear wheel on the driver's side, spinning his vehicle around, pushing him into a power pole (Damage between the front driver's side wheel and the driver's side door), knocking out the power of the adjacent subdivision and dislodging one of the power lines. The vehicles resting place shows that the client spun my son's vehicle around and pushed him into the pole. My son's vehicle was partially wrapped around the pole and the client's vehicle was at rest, t-boning my son's vehicle from the other side, into the pole.
The client ran to my son's vehicle to see if he was ok and indicating that she blew the stop sign. When the police arrived on scene, the client indicated that she blew the stop sign. Pictures were taken at the scene, as well as offsite, after the accident. The damage to the client’s vehicle show she front impact damage. The damage to my son's vehicle shows the initial impact location (rear wheel on the driver's side), breaking the wheel off the axle, and the power pole (12+ inch indentation of the power, through the frame, crushing the engine's firewall and into the windshield).
The client proceeded to tell Progressive that she stopped at the stop sign; however, the police report and accident pictures shows that she did not stop and was traveling at a high enough rate of speed to break the axle, spin my son's car around and into the pole. Thankfully, my son only suffered minor cuts and bruises. If the initial impact or the impact of the pole would have been at the driver's side door, my son could have been killed.
Since my son’s vehicle was covered with liability insurance, the accident was flipped to Progressive. Progressive judge that my son was 100% at fault. My insurance disagreed, which pushed this case to a third party arbiter. In the meantime, we had to pay for the initial tow and storage of our vehicle ($950) and store the vehicle until the end of this case.
9 Months later, the third part arbiter ruled that this was a 50/50 fault. At the end of the case, I contacted Progressive to discuss the value of my damages and they indicated that they disagree with the third party arbiter and since Progressive's initial ruling was 100-0 fault of my son, they are not entitled to pay for any portion of our damages.

So as I paid my bill last month they asked if I could print it out and send it to them, sure no problem I did. Well I guess I sent it to the wrong address. They never again contacted me and sent me a bill for 1300 dollars for one month for my son! Am I not a customer or do they have so magical power to make me pay something I never wanted just a quote. They are trying to push me around telling me that it is a law! If I didn't sign the paper they can do what they want? Where is the humanity with these people, this is just mean. If I would have known there was a deadline for a piece of paper they need not me or I would be charged this who would do that? Thanks for listening. Dax
