Progressive told me I had NO POINTS on my driving record and NO POINTS on my Insurance record but because I had a Violation that was on there that I had my lawyer take care of.. they STILL raised my rates. Regardless if it's your fault or not, they will still raise your rates!!!!

Disingenuous frauds. They do bait-and-switch games with teaser rates, then tried extracted information about other people in the household, and tried disingenuously adding another driver to the vehicle when no one else was designated as a driver. I've NEVER had an insurance carrier deal with me like this beforehand. They changed the insurance from $178 month to over $300+.

I switched to Progressive from Allstate because I thought the rates would be cheaper but the difference only ended up being a few dollars. I would gladly pay more for better customer service. Recently, I had my hood blow up while I was on the highway & it suffered damage. I filed my claim under comprehensive & the adjuster I spoke with was the most rude, uninformed adjuster I have ever dealt with. I have been a paralegal for over 15 years & deal with insurance daily & have never experienced the horrible customer service the adjuster gave me. I spoke with her once when she told me where to take my car. When I took it to the collision center, I assumed they would do the estimate & get back to the adjuster who would then contact me. WRONG. The adjuster accepted the estimate & the collision center proceeded to repair my car without my knowledge.
When I received an automated text that they were repairing my car, I called, emailed & texted my adjuster with no response. I contacted her supervisor with no response. I instructed the shop to halt all repairs on my vehicle because the $2k damage to the hood should have totaled out my car with 190k miles & engine damage. I then spoke with a Progressive rep who manages the body shop who informed me that it is normal not to have contact with the adjuster after the car is taken to the shop. He also informed me that the estimate didn’t total my car because the engine damage hadn’t been formally diagnosed prior to the hood damage. I instructed him to send me the check & not fix my vehicle.
When I towed my vehicle home, my engine would not even crank when before I took it in, it would at least crank & run. I am still waiting for my check & it has been a week since it was supposedly mailed & over 2 weeks since the damage to my hood. I am stuck with a car that won’t even crank & no way to get another vehicle until I get the check in the mail. Save yourself the headache & go elsewhere. It isn’t worth the few dollars you save to have this awful customer service.

Here's how my experience with Progressive went from great over the last sixteen years to absolutely horrible. Customer service has relatively been good but, I recently got a bill increase from 123 to 187, with 1 speeding ticket In the last 10 years & no at fault accidents in over 12 yrs. Auto insurance companies are losing money right now due to inflation and cars being in the shops for longer. So they decided to increase my bill. I'm currently in school and not making much right now until I finish school. So the increase in my auto insurance bill was completely unsustainable for me. They suggested to completely redo my policy to see if they could save me some money. Once they did.
I went from having full coverage with car insurance rental roadside assistance & 0 deductible, which would normally be $500 deductible, because I've been with them for 16 years, to none of that, I would have had to pay $2500 out-of-pocket deductible & the bill was still over $200 a month for just me. They completely burn that bridge. I will never go back to them. It's disgusting. They are doing this to people that have been with them for over twenty years.

Have roadside assistance with Progressive. Car broke down in garage at Baltimore. Was told by them 3x in 15 hours couldn't tow it because couldn't find a in network tow company to try on my own. Ps while I'm working in hospital in city 2 hours from home. So was towed till next late evening. That's 24 hrs after broke down. I was told tow company they accepted job twice but it was cancelled because progressive didn't want to pay and kept low balling prices. I had roadside call to verify this. Roadside placed me on hold and apparently called towing number. She Said they said was first they accepted tow. So I So we are both lying huh.
I called towing place back. Same number. She verified we both called and he said no one called him in hours so she lied. Asked her placed on 3way so we could verify. After she did was only me and tow company. Couldn't hear her. Then they called me after car towed. Mind you at 1118am and 1218am. Two days straight now waking us up because from Arizona number like what the crap. Just vomit. Going back to geico asap.

Bait and switch pricing. When I called about binding, my calls were dropped more than once. I was unable to complete the binding process. No one ever reach out to me. When I did later speak with a representative and with multiple managers, they could not bind my quote and could not answer basic question. I wonder if Progressive is competent.

I would leave 0 stars if possible. I was a Progressive customer for almost 4 years, from 2020-2024. I paid my insurance rates on time and in 6 month increments. I had one claim due to an accident I was not at fault for and progressive was able to get their money back from the other driver's insurance. I moved to a new state and when updating my insurance, I was told I could not get a quote from insurance because my car had been reported missing or stolen. I was shocked, considering the fact that I had my car and had never reported it stolen. I was then left running around trying to find out what had happened. I contacted my lien holder and they said there were no issues with the title, I contacted my previous state DMV and they said there were no missing reports for my vehicle. I contacted the progressive quote support email and was simply told they could not offer me a quote because of the vehicle history of being reported stolen. They gave no other information but to get a Carfax report to learn more.
I then had to pay to get a Carfax report to find that the car had been reported stolen and then recovered in 2020, a time before I owned the car. I called progressive asking for a refund on the Carfax report and a letter stating this was a progressive policy to not insure the car. They refused the refund (which I can grudgingly understand, although I still find it wrong) and they refused a letter. I was treated as though I had done something wrong and was told there was nothing to be done. Progressive is a billion dollar company and this is how they treat their customers. I paid thousands of dollars to them over the years for very little in return. It also takes days to be able to reach anyone on the phone that can help you. Multiple times I spoke to someone who could not help me and could not transfer me to someone who could, their only suggestions were to reach out to the automated email. I will never use progressive again and I would caution anyone I know against using them.

I have been a Progressive auto insurance customer for over 20 years and until recently, all had went smoothly. My car was recently involved in an accident and rendered a total loss. I have full coverage and loan/lease payoff (25% of vehicle value). Based off the coverage I have, the vehicle should have been paid in full. The adjustor assigned to the claim did not send the proper amount to the lender and refused to listen to my suggestion of "running the numbers" again. She prematurely closed my case and I am being held responsible for the remaining balance on the vehicle.
I was also instructed by the adjustor to make a car payment to the lender even though the vehicle was not in my possession and had been legally signed over to progressive. I believe she did this in order to get a lesser amount that progressive would be responsible to pay. I believe that the adjustor intentionally, and dishonestly, mismanaged my claim due to greed and lack of concern for customers. I also believe I am not the only customer this has happened to. I have contacted the top executive as well as management at progressive, to no avail, as of today. The accident was mid January and the case was closed around a month ago.
Progressive did not honor the policy/ contract that I have with them, nor have they listened to my request to review the claim. Progressive prides itself in being honest to better take care of its customers. The events that have transpired, in my opinion, are very dishonest. Their website states, "our name stands for forward motion and striving to do better." Dear Progressive, I am still waiting for you to honor your end of the deal and make this right! I have filed a complaint with the Ohio Department of Insurance to aid in helping to rectify this issue.

Absolutely horrible insurance. Having a simple claim for last 3 months, manager can't even send an email, calling me 5 times while I am on my retreat in Mexico without any phone signal. I sent message, "I can't call. I am on silent retreat in Mexico, please send me an email or talk to my repair shop. You have all the information." I have also cancelled one claim earlier because the person driving said he will pay for it but he never did so I submitted a claim again and they are asking for 2000 deductible when I pay 280 a month. My fault to be honest but still not cool.
Then when I tried to reopen the claim and submitted the new one they said that I am doing this twice and I already submitted one. But I was instructed to do so by them before. There was an obvious miscommunication which they didn't even care about to wait for me, send me an email, or anything and they cancelled my claim. So basically I am paying so much money for insurance and all I get back is damage on my car and broken windshield which they can not even send money for or repair.
Also as soon as I am over this and tried to cancel the insurance I can not because I filed with them for 6 months (some policy). Also after that call, they actually send me a non-renewal information that I can't renew with them again which I would not obviously do even if I had zero other options because what I paid for insurance I could have my damages covered 3 times already.
Also claiming that I actually misinterpreted some information or provided a faulty one and that's the reason they are not renewing. But when you look at it from poor customer point of view, huge company like that is just trying to cover their ** and get as much money as possible from you. Anyway, very dissatisfied after few years dealing with them and basically submitting ONE claim for one quick repair that shop can do within 24 hours.

Certainly if I could give -100 stars I would. Progressive use to be a decent company. I Called in with a couple of questions to get a requote on my insurance policy. The young lady asked me how many people living in the home? I said 2 but my son is here for the weekend, she immediately stated, "Oh well if he's in the home he has to be added on the policy." I stated no he does not and he has his own insurance as well, she kept insisting he needed to be added on and put him on my policy without my permission. I asked for a supervisor whose name is Kelly. She was so rude, insisting that my son stay on my policy after I explained to her my son is visiting and will be leaving on 02/11/2024 but instead he left on 02/10/2024, only stayed with us a couple of days.
Those crooks put him on my policy and wouldn't take him off. So I logged in and removed him. I couldn't believe what happened next. Tim called me, and didn't even identify my information before he began speaking. Stated, "Mrs. ** I see you removed your son from the policy," I stated, "Yes and if you place him back on I'll remove him again because he has left," and I hung up on him because he was rude and aggressive. I logged into my account and noticed he put my son back on again, and I couldn't remove him because he had a disclosure that stated I needed to have proof of residence before I could remove him. That was so unprofessional what that entire team did, you know when someone thinks you're being dishonest it's because they are. What crooks and liars they are. Well I then called back to cancel my entire policy because I dare to pay you 300.00 dollars per month when my son is not living here, he was just visiting for a couple of days using my car for those few days.
These folks are totally insane and greedy animals trying to squeeze a dollar anywhere and how they can. Now you end up owing me for cancelling. All of you cheaters out there know for sure that no one that is smart enough to see you for who you are, is going to play games with you. Your sin will find you out. Tim is a joke of a lead or whoever he is and he needs to find a job working with animals because certainly that's his like behavior. Go somewhere else people. Trust me read the reviews. Progressive have gone to the dogs. Also beware when you file a claim. Do not allow them to record your conversation without first getting you an attorney. Make sure you listen to every word they state, those crooks will try to settle quickly as to they get paid bonuses to settle with little time and less money paid to you as possible. Cover yourself, they only care about your money, not you. Take heed least you be manipulated, they are vultures.

Filed a claim with Progressive because one of their insured rear-ended me while I was stopped at a traffic light. Their driver admitted fault in a text message. First, Progressive wanted photos of the damage, then they wanted the Florida Traffic Crash Report. I contacted my dealership where all service has been performed in the 7 years of owning my vehicle and got a repair estimate from them (for over $1500). Now, Progressive is saying that the documentation (that they requested) is insufficient and that they now want to waste more of my time to examine the damage in person during their limited and inconvenient daytime hours (with no possibility of evening or weekend availability). What a load of...! This is a terrible way to treat a claimant and a definite reason not to ever contract with Progressive for insurance! Purchase this insurance at your own peril!

September 2023 I signed my 16-year-old son up for car insurance. I had it automatically come out of my account once a month so I didn't keep an eye on it. I thought they would be honest. His bill went from $190 to approximately $315 a month. When I seen this I called and questioned them. They had added five other drivers to his policy for those people. We're not even around anymore because of a divorce and the fifth person is is a person. Nobody even knew who that person was so they've been charging my account illegally for months.
They said they sent a letter to me in a month asking about this. Never seen it. Never seen an email on top of that either and when I try to talk to them for over an hour yesterday I got nowhere with anybody. This seems like a huge scam where they're taking money legal from people and hoping they won't catch it. I can't believe I used to think a Progressive was a good company. Only to find out they're thieves like every other insurance company it seems like here lately. I just can't believe the stunts this company is pulling.

I have a multi-vehicle policy with Progressive and have been using them for years with zero claims. I filed my first claim on my Thor Magnitude Super-C Motorhome that was caused by a wind event when traveling through mountain passes in Colorado. After the adjuster review my entire claim was denied stating it was based on poor design of the motorcoach and not a singular event that could be pointed to. They also broke out my claim into multiple sub-claims to ensure a deductible was applied to each one. I'm sure all perfectly legal but I'm absolutely astonished at how far they went to avoid paying out on damage that I pay for coverage for.

In October, my 2012 Mercedes GL 350 encountered an unfortunate collision when it was struck from behind while stationary at a stoplight. What ensued was a disheartening experience with Progressive Insurance, characterized by a stark lack of diligence and a disregard for customer well-being. At the time of the incident, my vehicle, meticulously maintained and mechanically sound, suffered a substantial antifreeze leak, rendering it inoperable. Despite Progressive's commitment to addressing the necessary bodywork repairs, they regrettably declined to acknowledge or rectify the consequential mechanical issues, attributing their decision to the age of the vehicle (2012) and its mileage (105,000).
It is imperative to underscore that my car was fully functional and drivable prior to the accident, making the current mechanical complications a direct result of the collision. This glaring disparity between the pre- and post-collision condition contradicts the fundamental principle of insurance coverage – the restoration of the insured property to its pre-loss state. I must clarify that Progressive Insurance represents the at-fault party's insurer, not my own. Despite my innocence in the incident, the aftermath has led to substantial personal investment, prolonged engagement with bureaucratic processes, and the unfortunate transformation of a once-pristine vehicle into an immobile state.
In light of these circumstances, I respectfully seek a reevaluation of Progressive's position. I request a thorough consideration of the mechanical issues resulting from the collision and a commitment to restoring my vehicle to its pre-accident operational state. This pursuit aligns with the core principles of insurance coverage and the expectation that damages, both visible and mechanical, be appropriately addressed. I trust that Progressive Insurance will take this matter seriously and demonstrate a commitment to upholding the integrity of their service. Your prompt attention to this request is greatly appreciated.

I explained, they are just visiting from out of state with extended stay, they also have their own auto insurance. They advise I can put on her on exclusion list, but yet they still increase my insurance 300 dollars and expect me to pay that in 19 days. In addition, Progressive sent me nonrenewal notice until I provide each person live on the household. I've recently had a disheartening experience with Progressive Insurance that I feel compelled to share. Without any prior notification, my stepdaughter was added to my daughter's insurance policy, causing an unexpected increase of over $100 per month in our premiums. Despite reaching out for clarity, Progressive has yet to show any proof that they had informed us of this significant change beforehand. This lack of transparency is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on their commitment to customer service.
The aspect that has been most troubling is not being consulted or informed about changes that directly affect my policy. This unexpected alteration, made without my consent, is not only unprofessional but also calls into question the company's operational ethics. Additionally, the response from the customer service team has been unsatisfactory. Their failure to provide a clear explanation or solution has only compounded the issue. This experience has significantly diminished my trust in Progressive Insurance. It's a stark reminder to be vigilant about policy changes, especially when clear communication from the insurer is lacking.

Worst experience with an insurance company in 30 years. They will attempt to not fix any possible parts of your vehicle if in an accident. They do not respond back and will often change stories. As the paying customer, you can expect to be treated poorly and have the process take entirely too long. I hit a deer and after almost 3 months without my vehicle, they are now claiming not to fix any internal parts. The next day, I received a call from adjuster (JXs***), who collected the information again and advised me to contact the other driver's insurance if I wanted to repair my car.
Initially convinced, I later learned from friends that it's customary to contact one's own insurance company first, and the adjuster would assist in facilitating the repairs. Despite this insight, I am still awaiting a call from Progressive's adjuster, and there has been a lack of follow-up or communication. My insurance premium was fair when I got my first quote and so secured it for 6 months. I was new to Florida and I left the state for the summer with my Florida car in storage. I was still covered when I left the state. I got a renewal notice and the premium was raised by $200.00 which made no sense to me, as we had no claims. I felt they just quoted me low to get my business, then raised it thinking I’d just pay the higher cost. So I called the toll free number and explained the car was in storage and felt a premium increase was not warranted, as I was not driving the car. I inquired if there was a storage option and the woman who answered the call was apparently new. I started asking her how I could save on my premium, she wasn’t able to suggest anything on how I could save since my car was in storage. It made no sense to me, so I let it cancel at the end of the term.
Shortly after that I found out by letter from the state, you can’t let insurance lapse in Florida, even if you don’t operate the vehicle. I also found another company that sells garage/storage policies that provide low cost coverage if a car is stored. This whole experience proved to me that their customer service reps are untrained and don’t understand the insurance laws in the state of Florida, she should have explained that this insurance can’t lapse, and offered me a storage policy. I won’t use them again. I now use an agent who knows what the insurance laws are.

First it says “your vehicle has been updated” and proclaims the vehicle info I entered does not match the VIN I provided, then proceeds to list two columns of “updates based on VIN” and “Vehicles you entered” and under each column it describes the exact same vehicle. Nothing was updated yet they say the info does not match. The next line said “your vehicle history information has been updated” but does not tell me what they updated and it may have impacted my rate. I did not ask for a modified vehicle rental, as the repair was going to be just for a few day and we didn't have anywhere he needed to go, so I agreed to the standard car rental. When I arrived with my car at the garage, not only was the rental not approved, they then quibbled over the $10/day difference in cost of the rental. I don't care if it was $100/day. It was me who was hit, it was me who was inconvenienced. It was ridiculous. This was not my insurance. It was over an hour of my time at the garage while they quibbled with the rental company.
I was on the phone with my insurance company when an agreement was finally reached. I have never been so poorly treated by a company. This is unacceptable. They took next payment out on Oct 11 with no problem. I get an email saying I will be canceled if I don’t make my payment. I call to pay or figure out why they didn’t do as they already had. They told me I now have to pay 358 to keep insurance cause I didn’t sign a payment form that I was never told of. I said, "Send it to me and I’ll pay you and you can do as I authorized you to do so on the phone." Rather than take the payment and continue to do so they refused and said 358 or nothing. If they provide this service over taking your money….imagine how much of a fight you’ll have getting paid. I’ll cancel and find a place that wants their customers and can acknowledge when they are wrong.

It took me 2 days over an hour on the phone on wait until finally I got a live person. They are trying to charge me an additional $300 now for having a daughter with Cerebral Palsy that's immobile and wheelchair bound. This is even after signing a waiver that she can't drive. I have never! Had any other insurance do this. Lured me in with a competitive rate and now will be paying more than my previous insurer!! Scam. Don't fall for internet rates!!

We have been with Progressive for several years. No claims. No tickets. We had achieved Diamond Customer status + we bundled our HOI with Progressive. Yet, they keep on raising their premiums and I'm not talking about smaller increments like 2-3%. In the last few years, we have experienced several double digit rate hikes. Now, they want to raise our premium again by 12% from Oct. to Nov. 2023. This is absolutely unacceptable at this point! It's gauging and we have had enough.
So, we aren't talking about increasing monthly premiums a couple of dollars. We're talking about raising rates like $20 or more per month. Moreover, this happens consistently. We got out of Progressive and got something else instead and we're saving a lot of money now. Progressive is horrific with their rate hikes/gauging. What's the point of being "Diamond Customers"? It doesn't really matter. You'll have double digit increases anyway. Shame on Progressive! Shame on you!

When I called first they said it was a California Rule so I called my Calif Insurance Commisioners office and they clarified it is not CA law. It is Ins company trying to screw us over. It's not fair that we are being forced to pay an astronomical amount for insurance when an alternate option is available. Not fair. I cannot afford 4.5k upfront. I don't think many people can.

One of the worst insurance experiences. I had started my 6 month premium with them on Jan. 2023. They had charged $760 premium for a 6 month period. And when the 2nd 6 month period was about to start, they had increased the premium amount to $1462 (Almost double the initial amount). The reason that they had stated was obnoxius saying that they did an assessment of the area and the increase was due to 'rate adjustment'. Can't think of a better way to rip off money from the customers. Now that I want to add another vehicle to my existing policy which expires in Feb. 2024, they are giving me a quote for the whole 6 months although the new vehicle will be used only for 4 months of the policy period.
One of the customer care representatives put me on hold for 20 mins and then just hung up on me even after I clearly explained the math. Upon calling them again, they state that no matter when the vehicle was bought or added to the policy they still collect the premium for 6 months. This is the most illogical thing I have ever heard. Absolutely annoying. I don't know what to call this other than a way of literally stealing hard earned money of the customers.

She used to be on my policy when she had no car and not able to drive. Now she has neither so I had removed her from the policy. Somewhere down the line my mother went to church and had a ride with someone on their own car. The owner of that car got into a car accident with my mother. I told her my mother is not suing anyone. A week later she called and left a message and a few more days later Progressive sent me a message either I added my mother or they will cancel my insurance coverage. I was never a liability for any insurance company. I had never fill a claim or had in accident all of my life. I am 56 years old. When 6 months came and needed to renew, rate went up $95. Called the company, got transferred to sales department, and they said, well it was an initial e-sign discount, and when you renew, it comes off. Nowhere did I see this when I applied online, or on the paperwork that came with my new insurance cards. Maybe it was really fine print.
When I said, "If the rate doesn't go down, I will drop you," then offered me less coverage. I said, "No, I want the best protection, what I already have now." So they said, "We can't do anything for you." I said, I dropped Geico as their rates kept going up. You guys aren't helping yourself." She had the guts to tell me that the reason Geico is raising their rates is that a lot of people are getting into accidents now and Geico has to pay for their claims. What **. She also told me that a lot of people switch from Geico to Progressive and back again to get better rates with the same coverage, and I could be one of them.
Seriously?!!! What has happened to customer service these days??!! Aren't you supposed to do your best to make the customer stay with you??!! I guess I'm just a number. I don't have any tickets, violations, or anything on my record, so I deserve a normal rate. I will be taking my business elsewhere... If they keep doing this, I hope they will lose enough customers and get enough bad reviews to either change their practices or go out of business. Not worth your time or effort. By pressing 0, I was transferred to another member of her team named Brian. He did an awesome job explaining the process and completing my claim so that I could take photos for an estimate. He told me to download the app so I could review my claim and estimate. I got a text that my estimate was ready and said I could access it on the app. I filled in the claim data on the login form to see my estimate and the app showed "uh oh that's not the data we have on file." I entered the same data I gave when I filed the claim.
I called BVB to try to get help logging into the app and now my adjusters phone number doesn't ring it is just dead air. I could no longer press 0 for someone on her team. Terrible communication from the claims agent Lauren ** when my truck was hit by a tree. Incident occurred 8/15/23 for reference. Her voicemail says that she's the best contact to handle questions about my claim and that she returns calls by the next day at 10 am as long as she is working which is Tuesday-Friday. Lauren ** has never communicated with me once; without me contacting her supervisor first after waiting 10 days for word, and multiple days for her to call me back after I finally reached out to Lauren ** and left a message and sent an email. That was to even find out if I could put my truck in the body shop because I didn't want to remove the tree if they needed pics! Then, after the body shop stuff, I still have not heard back from Lauren **, even after going online and finding out that my claim was "closed".
Well, the body shop was unaware and they say the claim shouldn't be closed because Progressive is having them cut the panels off the bed of my truck instead of replacing the whole bed which then creates more damage and, even though Progressive knows it'll create more damage, that the adjuster from Progressive has to come out and preview that damage created before they can proceed with fixing it and that adds to the claim. So now, I've called and left messages and sent another email to Lauren **, as well as her supervisor, after waiting again 2 days for Lauren ** to return my call with no communication. This is ridiculous. My claim says it was closed and I should've been cut a check on 9/26/23 but it's now 10/5/23 at 9:40 am and I have no check, received no communication from anyone from Progressive, and have only found out about this through the Progressive website on Monday 10/2/23.

I purchased car insurance with Progressive this summer. I figured it was just something the law requires but I will never have to use it. Well, in September I was rear-ended in a hit-and-run accident which did some major damage to the back end of my car. I called the police immediately. The police eventually came and explained that since I couldn’t get a license plate, there wasn’t a whole lot they could do. I then filed a claim with Progressive. I will start off by saying my agent was cold and militant. When I told him that it was a hit-and-run, I was treated like I was the criminal. I was asked the same questions over and over again. They asked for screenshots of when I called the police. This was all provided to Progressive. Several days later I was interrogated by another representative trying to catch some holes in my story.
The agent tried with several ah-ha! moments asking me if I was involved in previous accidents. I said, no I was not. The rep then claimed she randomly had street camera footage of my car in an accident. I called the city to inquire about this claim. They told me that they do not have unlimited access to city cameras. And even when my accident occurred, I was told there are no cameras on this particular road. The agent lied to me and tried to use intimidation to get me to admit to something that never occurred.
Progressive now wants screenshots from my old email conversations with previous insurances. I don’t save emails from old insurance conversations. Progressive will not cover my claim because it’s a hit-and-run accident and they can’t make money off of someone else’s insurance. Progressive will make a claim as difficult and awful as they can make it for you. I will never ever use Progressive again and will tell my experience anywhere that will allow me to post my story.

Not going to lie, but Progressive has good prices here in FL. The only problem is that they don't care about the customer. I paid 2 days late (my wife lost her job a month back, and we struggled with our finances) and they canceled my insurance. They told me I had to reinstate my insurance (make a brand new one). They were asking for more than 1,000 down.
I tried to talk to them to see if they could take into consideration that I had been with them for almost 15 years (diamond status) with no accidents or tickets. The answer was NO, I have to do a new insurance like I never had any insurance before. There is no loyalty, no matter how long you have been there or how clean your record is. They just care about the money (like any other company) but there are companies that will go above and beyond to keep their customers. I have been with Progressive for the past 25 years, this was a very good company and people aspired to have Progressive, its rates were very affordable and rewarded you with safe driving, and accident-free driving. Lately, it has gone down the drain, I being their loyal customer for so many years have a crown status with accident/wreck forgiveness, etc. I reported an accident last year where someone hit my car from the back on a freeway, on the passenger side corner of the bumper, and sped off. I reported this incident to Progressive. They wanted me to take pictures and videos and send it to them which I did, and they sent a measly $500 check which was not enough to cover the repairs. This was the first incident I reported in 20 years.
A year later they jacked up my premium by $698 by issuing a notice saying that the accident was my fault when I was hit from behind. I called Progressive and they wanted me to speak to the owner of the file Mr. **. He said on his end it does not show as an at-fault accident and he will put in a query. I am just supposed to patiently wait while they investigate the wrongful report and credit me for the extra premium they charged me. I have also heard at least two other complaints from friends where they were a victim of this increased premium fraud. This company is now money-hungry and will go to great lengths to commit fraud for that extra money. They quote you a competitive rate and the next month the premium goes up. WTF.

I've had Progressive for 5 years, never had to file a claim until last month... My husband was driving home on the highway and an 18 wheeler's tire blew. Didn't have time or room to get out of the way and hit the front of our vehicle, ripping off most of the front bumper and pinning it under the frame. As soon as he pulls in the driveway, I hear it and see the damage, grab my phone to file a claim.
Filing was easy, when I called the next day about a mechanic and a tow, I was told all of their in network folks had at least a 1 month delay before they could get the car in. Not great as my husband is an independent contractor and has no sick or vacation time. We had no other options so agreed and was given the name of the shop to contact. I called, first there was confusion on whether the car was drivable or not. I said no, as I've said all along and they told me Progressive said it was drivable. So I call Progressive back to get that straightened out, said it was done and to call back the mechanic. Call the mechanic the next day and am told now can pick up the car Aug 3, (the day before it was Aug 2, so I expected that).
Now it's Aug 2 and I call the mechanic to ask what time they're picking up the car tomorrow, next steps, eta on repair time, etc and they tell me the car is still set to drivable, and they're not taking any undrivable vehicles at this time. Neither of them called me to tell me this sooner so other arrangements could be made. So I just got off the phone with Progressive, was advised that they just contacted 5 other options in our area and no one has availability until the beginning of Sept. Told me to call around and see if I can do better, then call back to set up something with another mechanic through them. I asked if they could get the next option lined up and I'll then call around myself, if I find something, I'll call back and if not, I won't. That apparently isn't an option.
I am just beyond myself right now. I've paid this company over 12,000 over the years and when I need assistance, this is what I get?! I was told when I signed up, I would get a discounted rate gradually over the years. Well, this is the first year my insurance went DOWN in any way and that's only because at renewal this time I was given the option to set up auto pay for a $20 a month discount. I just have no words.... as anyone could imagine. I can't believe I paid for this... I could've just bought another car already for what I've paid them to do nothing all these years.

The claims process was lengthy and stressful, communication was awful, they lied, were rude, and never reached out to me except for an occasional text informing me of yet another delay, all communication was initiated by me or by the dealership.
It took 3 weeks, for a fix that took less than an hour in the service bay. I know you can expect less personalized service from a low-cost carrier, but no price break is worth that many headache. I'm disabled, and depend on my Toyota for 4 hours, every month. My exhaust is separated from the catalytic converter. My left headlight is getting ready to fall into the motor, and my brakes fail several times. I have recorded the transactions with Toyota, and Grundy's ìn Carthage.
I had a rental last time and then Andrew with Progressive went to the autonomy and he called and said that the autobody (Grundy's), that had my car to fix and after Andrew went there Sid at the autobody shop told me he wouldn't fix it. So I started Progressive almost 1yr ago and my insurance started at $200/mth. I did the snapshot and they said I'd SAVE $120 every 6mo but instead they tacked that onto my insurance and raised it to $220/mth. Now my year 'anniversary' is coming up, looked at my next 6mo period and now they are charging me $40 extra from the first change, totaling $266/mth. They did not inform me it was going up, I have not been in any accidents, have not filed any claims, not had any traffic violations, nothing. I would have rated them a 5 when I first signed up, but now they get a 1 for false advertising and not informing me of upcoming changes to my bills.
I DO NOT recommend them to anyone unless you make a lotta money. For clarification, I drive a 2012 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner V6 w/ Tow package and TRD Sport package that I am currently financing. When I had Geico the cost was just $250/mth, I swapped to Progressive because they claimed that they would be cheaper and at first they were, then they crept the price up slowly and without informing me the prices were set to increase.

Because my father's mail is being forwarded to our house up here in Ohio, they somehow thought I wanted to add my daughter to his policy and did it WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION! This is such poor business practice! Probably illegal too and I will report this to the BBB. I called the local Progressive branch in Florida and they forwarded my Power of Attorney to Progressive Underwriters. I was told to call them tomorrow and they just needed to speak to me to have my daughter's name removed.
I called at 9am when they opened and was on hold for 35 minutes. When I finally was able to speak to someone, I was told they didn't have my POA from the branch office and I needed to call them. I explained that I didn't initiate this issue and I'm not about to waster any more time with phone calls. Since she was reluctant to do anything, I told her I would just short-pay the new invoice when it comes for the additional driver THEY added. I normally don't leave reviews this bad, and up until the last few years had found Progressive to be a great option for car insurance. However, my husband and I needed to get an insurance policy on a new vehicle a little over two years ago. We researched our car insurance options thoroughly and settled on Progressive because we'd heard good things, and because I'd had good experiences with them before. But, the policy cost we were quoted seemed very high. We re-ran our quote multiple times to be sure, with no luck. We finally accepted that insurance must just be more expensive in the city where we live. Fast forward two years, and I finally decided to start looking around for other insurance options.
I'm in the same boat as so many others: more working from home = less driving, so I started scoping out Metromile and other pay-per-mile alternatives. After more research I decided maybe I should stick with Progressive, but I still couldn't figure out why it was so expensive! So I went in and got another quote--entering exactly the same information (same drivers, address, coverages, etc.) as my current policy. And....my quote came up to HALF of what we were paying! My new quote was just over $400 for a 3-month term, and we were paying over $800 for the exact same coverage. I was shocked. I called Progressive and they couldn't explain, but confirmed that the best approach was to buy the "new" policy and cancel the "old" one, which I just finished doing, so I am now paying the correct rate.
However, this does not chance the fact that for the past two years I have been overpaying to the point that I have now lost well over $1,000 due to this mistake. I of course tried to speak with Progressive multiple times to determine how to get this lost money back. Unfortunately none of the people I have spoken to seem to be able to explain why this happened. What's even worse is they haven't even tried or seemed interested in trying at all. I just got off the phone with another person (phone call number 3), and they literally just didn't say anything after I explained the loss. When I asked if they were still there they said yes, and when I re-summarized the issue they still didn't really provide any response. I am really devastated about this.
Now is not the time of my life when my husband and I can afford to be losing over a thousand dollars to an insurance company (not that there's ever a good time, but things are tough now). Any and all savings I ever earned from trusting Progressive for my insurance have been more than lost in this one mistake they've made. I used to recommend them based both on their performance and professionality but based on these experiences I no longer can. It's probably best to do business with a better alternative like GEICO; or maybe one of the pay-per-mile companies really would be worth it.

However, the auto insurance never began, and my company that I had been with for 20 years does not cover my new state. The representative that sold me the car insurance (Ryan) gave me his number to call as did the person that sold me my condo insurance (Anena). I called both of these people left a message and neither one of them called me back.
I called and asked to speak to a supervisor. They gave me a difficult time about doing this. I finally got to talk to someone who was a supervisor (Patrice) who basically implied I was lying by saying she listened to the conversation, and I never purchased auto insurance, only condo. I told her she listened to the wrong conversation because I didn't get my auto from the conversation she listened to with the condominium person. She said she had to put me on hold again after I'd already been on the phone 55 minutes and we got 'disconnected'.
Since she didn't call back (Rude!), I called them back. I found out that the aforementioned person who claimed to be a supervisor (Patrice) was not a supervisor. I had to go through the whole process above, again, to get a supervisor (Theresa). Once I did, the story did not end well. I was told that their prices change daily, and I could not have the original quote that I was given for auto insurance. It would be $30 more a month.
In addition, Theresa was also trying to tell me, I didn't buy an auto policy. Hmmm, I wonder why my condo policy shows a bundle discount for auto? I did buy it. I was given my monthly cost, told the date the policy would start. It didn't matter, If I wanted the auto policy I would have to pay $30 more a month. Wonder why Theresa didn't listen to the phone call I had with Ryan where he stated the policy would start 11/18. I told them no thanks! I'd rather pay three times as much than deal with an unreliable company that doesn't call people back, implies they are lying, and doesn't honor a price they quoted. They don't care that they have horrible service, only making more money. I will get my auto elsewhere. Filed my claim online and expected someone from Progressive to get in touch in a timely manner. Nope. Even their website says the claim rep will get in touch by the next business day to "gather more information and walk you through your next steps". That did not happen.
My claims representative, Danielle **, who is based two states away, never contacted me to get my statement. Never asked how I was doing. Never asked about my injuries. Never sent someone out to look at my car for an estimate on damages. How do they process a claim without the basic information? The other driver had their statement taken by their insurance company (American Family) within an hour after the accident. Their claims rep contacted me two days later for a statement. Progressive never did. Danielle never responded to my email asking what further documentation was needed to get the claim processed.
I can't imagine what would have happened if I was hospitalized or if my vehicle was heavily damaged and could not be driven. She told me the letter to cancel the claim was in the mail and that was the only contact she ever had with me. Unbelievable. I contacted a lawyer to help me resolve the issue. No one should pay hundreds of dollars for insurance only to have to resort to a lawyer just to get compensated for their loss. Especially when the other driver was at fault. You'd think Progressive would have settled the issue fairly quickly. I then called Progressive to cancel my policy since they have been so useless. The customer service rep made no effort to be friendly, but quickly completed the request. I only learned about the cancellation after receiving a notice from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
After speaking with several people at Progressive and requesting to speak with management, I was connected to a person who did not seem to understand basic insurance/contract law. This "manager" declined my request to speak with Customer/Client Relations and insisted that I owed $123 for insurance provided up to the date of cancellation. I was told, however, that if I could show proof of insurance for the period prior to cancellation that Progressive would forgive the amount. I provided proof of insurance as requested.
I did not hear anything, until a collection notice was sent to my old address. I contacted the collection agency and was again told that if I provided proof of insurance my account would be "cleared". I sent proof as requested (nearly 6 months ago). I have not heard anything since. I recently pulled my credit reports and found that Progressive listed an amount owed and my account in collections. Alternatively, Progressive would buy my car back for $2800, still far below actual buying value in the Bay Area. My car 1998 Subaru is old, but cars are very expensive in the area and with working cats I could easily sell it for 4k or more. It’s a perfectly good working car that I had had for years and now have to pay out of pocket 1,000$ to fix and it will have a salvage title. My agent was unresponsive, she never answered the phone, rarely called me back, and didn’t explain any of this to me.
I had no idea that the car being reported a total loss was an option, or that to keep my own car, I would have to pay storage fees at a car shop. I would have been more careful in choosing a place. She was also extremely unhelpful in finding a shop that would see me and fix my car in less than 3 months' wait time. Take your money elsewhere! Progressive spends their money on advertising and not on actual customers. I was their customer for 6 years and this is how I was treated. I will be canceling as soon as they pay out, to not fix my car and force me to claim it as salvage.

This is my third time insuring with Progressive. They are known for having better coverage than other companies, however when it comes time to claim I found that your policy rarely matches your expectation on coverage, leaving you having to pay for your own car after paying expensive premiums every month. This time around is my last time insuring with Progressive, as during hurricane Ian I was given the absolute worst insurance service of my life. I was told that first I was covered, but needed to wait two day for my rep... okay. I am desperate so I waited. Guy calls me once, I call right back. No response. Can't get ahold of the guy for another 4 days. By that time, he informs me that the first rep was completely mistaken and that I have no coverage for my claim, 'goodbye'. It was really disheartening, I will never give Progressive my business again and am canceling now.

In overall, a lot of advisors very unprofessional and often can't even read the information about your policy on their screen. It took me over 10 phone calls to resolve very very very damn easy car registration issue. After all the mess I experienced with them I would not trust them in case of claims and proper customer service. Massachusetts.

We are a small business/car dealer in Rock Hill, SC who purchased a truck from Florida. We posted it on a transport dispatch website and a transport company contacted us for delivery. The company is out of Florida and has insurance coverage showing on their central dispatch profile. on delivery, we noticed damage to the top of the truck (estimated about $4500), so we filed a claim with Progressive, their insurance carrier on 7/21/22. Two months later, yesterday (9/28) Progressive denied the claim based on them not being able to verify from the Transport company which truck (out of their fleet) was the one who delivered our truck and who was the driver that day. We believe that this is Ridiculous, to say the least.
We as a business have now lost 2 months without being able to put this truck for sale, and on top of that, we now have to incur the cost of repair.!! We also believe that it's just not fair, instead, it's a poor decision made by Progressive. How can someone like us be able to do business with a company that they cover then they say we have to know the specific truck and the specific driver who delivered our vehicle that day, while the policy should cover all the trucks & all the drivers who are employed by that transport company.

Worst service I've ever experienced. I've been working with Progressive due to their insured customer hitting me and driving off. I've never dealt with a more disorganized insurance company with worst customer service. For one I can only speak to the adjuster. If she is not available it goes to voicemail. I have had USAA insurance for over 15 years and if the adjuster is not available they route me to someone else right away. The adjuster has given me different answers on different days. So I finally asked for something in writing or documentation that I can trust and she said there is nothing they can provide.
This is a huge corporation and they have nothing documented around rental reimbursement? When you have told me different information I'm not going to trust this adjusters "word for it" and pay out of pocket for a rental and not get reimbursed. Also, I asked for a comparable rental and they said they only pay for the lowest available rental! Your insured customer hit my car and I'm out a car for 7 days and I don't get a comparable car? She then proceeded to hang up on me. Tanesha should be fired!

I told them to use the payment funds I made which was more than $199 for less than a full month. I just think they are being money hungry just because you find a better rate. If they want to keep the customer, they need to start doing a payment match. If not then let people get the cheaper rates without them trying to get $199, I know they won't go bankrupt not getting people for money they don't deserve. I drive a very basic 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. The recommended repairs are reasonable and designed to merely put my car back in the condition it was prior to being hit. We immediately filed a stolen vehicle report with the police. Progressive's "Automatic Termination" policy states that if the vehicle is sold or transferred (without any other clarification) then the insurance is automatically terminated on the vehicle. Using this statement, I could have someone hold me at gun point, steal my car and it would still not be covered as a theft since a "transfer" took place.
What is the difference between someone using a gun to steal my car and someone using a blue collar method to steal my car. I see no difference. At the end of the day, my son is STILL responsible to pay on the loan of the car, the car is STILL registered in his name, there is STILL an open investigation on the car, and the car is STILL unrecovered. Now tell me in what universe that this car was "SOLD OR TRANSFERRED" where it isn't considered stolen and insurance would not pay for it under the comprehensive insurance coverage. I have been complaining until I was blue in the face to anyone who will listen. If Progressive changes their automatic termination policy to read "if the vehicle is sold or transferred, through any legal or illegal means, insurance coverage will be immediately terminated," then I will rest my oars and say another thing about it. If they cannot do that, then they do not have a leg to stand on denying the coverage on this vehicle.

I spoke with a Progressive agent on April 10th to cancel both my home and auto policy. I had just added a car to our policy so there was going to be an outstanding balance due. The agent told me it would be $87.31. When I received the Final Bill in the mail, it was $90.31. They had the $1 monthly installment fees broken out and totaled $3. My policy period was from January-June so I had paid $3 so I assumed that may have been the difference. I called and talked to an agent and asked about this fee and they stated that $90.31 was the correct amount due and was not sure why the Agent originally told me it was $87.31.
I know it is just $3 but it definitely seemed that they were charging me for either the $3 I had already paid or the $3 for the remaining payments. That is the only thing that would make sense. That, or the initial agent just misquoted the final bill on the phone. They were unwilling to reduce the bill to match what I was told originally and I was disappointed; not in the money and time lost due to this issue, but in the lack of customer service. If you have insurance through them, ditch them and move. If you have been involved in an accident with one of their insured drivers, I'm sorry.
- They never pick up the phone.
- They don't respond to voicemails or emails.
- They say they'll contact you by a set time, then don't.
- They claim to be available 24/7, but that isn't all departments. And given agents are not required to document your claim timely, there is no ability to get an update 24/7.
- They use the cheapest parts available instead of replacing the parts like for like. They will not use OEM parts for your car, despite it being in great condition prior to the accident. Why? Because they can, and third party parts are cheaper. But third party parts don't fit correctly, and don't match exactly. So your vehicle will not be put back to the pre accident condition.
- They change their story about when they'll give you a rental to ensure they can keep you from having a rental.

I have been a Progressive customer for over 3 years and had to file my first claim this year (August 11, 2021) for a shattered sunroof. My claims representative contacted me within about a week, and, after discussing with her, she told me she had called the shop and arranged for me to drop my car off a few days later. The morning of, I called the shop to confirm and they said they had no record of any conversation or booking. I called my claims representative back and learned that she was on vacation, but I should leave a message and one of her colleagues would get back to me.
After three days and no calls back, I called again and learned that her mailbox was full. From then on things just got worse. No matter what Progressive number I called the phone system would send me straight to her full mailbox. Through trial and error I learned to call customer service saying that I had questions about my coverage until I was able to speak with someone. I would then be transferred to the claims department and eventually transferred to someone in the same office as my claims rep. Even so, I got different answers from every person I spoke with and finally found a shop myself and booked an appointment. I was then told I needed to submit a photo/video claim to an adjuster before I brought it to the shop. This I did, and was promptly told that my car could be fixed using a $156 recycled part and $66 for labor -- well below my deductible.
I called the adjuster to explain that she had obviously not understood the extent of the repair needed from the few pictures and video that were required for the claims process, but she assured me that this was the extent of the claims process and Progressive would not pay for any repairs. Afterward, I called progressive customer service and was immediately told that the claim had been closed and was hung up on. After four hours and speaking with 7 different customer service and claims reps I was finally able to arrange for an adjuster to inspect my vehicle.
Three weeks later (September 14) an adjuster went to the shop to inspect my vehicle and changed the labor cost to $684 keeping the same $156 for the recycled part. My vehicle was then sent to the nearest Audi dealership to have the repairs done. Once at the Audi shop, they explained to me that the extent of the damage was well beyond simply replacing the glass with the recycled part and that the whole sunroof assembly would have to be replaced. At this point I was left in limbo, with no one at Progressive able to update me on the progress of my vehicle. My claims representative had been back from vacation for well over two weeks according to her voicemail, but I still never had a single call returned. I was finally able to have a new claims rep assigned to my claim and promptly called him. Amusingly I got his voicemail explaining that he would be out of the office starting that day (September 20) through the next week.
Thankfully I was still getting brief updates from the Audi shop and learned that my car had been returned to the original shop and Progressive had arranged for a third party to install the recycled glass (that had not been installed by either shop because it was not a proper repair.) After waiting another two weeks for the third party to do the repair, I was informed (by the installer as I could still not get a single response from anyone at Progressive) that they could not do the repair suggested by Progressive because the damage was well beyond simply replacing the glass. (sounds familiar...)
Over two months after filing my claim, and after Progressive had tried to get multiple people to perform an inadequate repair, the adjuster agreed to inspect my vehicle again. This time she agreed that the entire sunroof assembly would have to be replaced, and the part could be ordered from Germany. I am now approaching three months without a vehicle, waiting for a part that should have been ordered two months ago. I can still not get a call back or an update from anyone at progressive (adjusters, customer service, my claims rep etc.)
This entire process has been an utter nightmare. It has compromised my career and income as I had to delay a relocation. The few times I have been able to speak to someone at Progressive I have been blatantly lied to. Was told that parts were delayed when no parts had been ordered yet. I was told on countless occasions that I would get a callback and I have NEVER received a call back from anyone at Progressive. I always pay my policy in full, so here I am having paid for six months of coverage, three of which I have not even had my car. I have had such a horrific experience during this entire process that I am immediately switching to a new insurance provider. I had purchased a used 2004 Toyota Matrix and had insured the vehicle with Progressive. I knew it would not be a car that would survive long as from the start there were problems. After just four months as expected the car's engine went out at stop light and the cost to repair exceeded the value. I called a local junkyard and sold it for scrap the next day.
I called Progressive to let them know and agent informed the policy would be cancelled as requested. I also informed them there was no car to replace it with at that time. To my surprise I received a bill for 117.00 for the premium. I disputed it with Progressive and again was assured there were no charges and bill would be cancelled. I recently ran by credit report and there was collection account from Progressive for the 117.00. I am disputing it the collection and have also filed a complaint with the Dept of Insurance. Then they informed me that they would only pick up my vehicle and take it to the shop and that I had to find my own way there. I said, "Let me get this right. The point of road side assistance is to get you back on the road or to a shop to get your vehicle fixed so you're not stranded on the side of the road and since you're willing to pick my vehicle up but no willing to let me ride to the shop I need to walk 5 miles to get to the nearest shop." I could even make the payment in 4 days after it cancels and they said, "Sorry it will still be canceled." I've been a Progressive customer for over 5 years. In the past, when I had a claim their team was responsive and friendly. Prior to my most recent claim, I had no complaints. 2 of my cars were flooded due to Ida on 9/1. I submitted a claim with Progressive at midnight on 9/1. Early on, my rep was very responsive and even took it upon herself to consolidate the claims so we would have 1 point of contact instead on 2. Unfortunately, the Progressive approved shops were not available until 9/15. I was given the option to find my own shop, and the cars were dropped off on 9/7.
The adjuster contacted us to say the cars were totaled on 9/10, and we should hear from someone by 9/14. We called into our rep, but were told the claims had been reassigned. We called our new reps and left messages, with no response. This went on for 14 days with no return calls from our reps. During the entire claims process Car #1 was reassigned 3 times. Of the 4 reps I "had" I only was ever able to speak with the initial rep handling the case.
Our adjuster was responsive and informed us that there were documents sitting in the portal waiting to be sent to us, and seemed amazed that no one had sent us those documents. I finally called Corporate directly to get the documents sent to me. When they were sent, I was not given proper instructions - including having to have 2 copies of a POA notarized, so I have had to visit a notary twice. In the instructions, we were told not to mail the documents until a representative reviews them. We left more messages, with no return calls. Finally on 9/28 I sent a tweet to Progressive and THAT is what got us a return call and this matter resolved after 14 days of no return calls. This is no way to treat customers.
I will add that I can understand that Hurricane Ida has created an influx of calls and work - BUT neighbors on my street who experienced the same on 9/1 have already had their cars totaled, received their payouts and are driving new cars. It took 28 days just to get the proper paperwork submitted due to Progressive's lack of response. So not only do I not have a check, I haven't had a car since 9/1.

If you get into an accident, do not expect that they will provide you with any service that you paid for in a prompt manner, such as a car rental. They are lazy and incompetent. They are not your advocate and only seek to reach a judgement quickly because you, a paying customer, is nothing more than a hassle. And raising your premium matters little to this company. I would look elsewhere and even pay a bit more for better service. Biggest regret is going with this company because they were cheaper. Travel there ... dig down 10 ft, and that is where you will find the scum that run Progressive insurance. This company values only statistics, not people. I just signed up for a policy with Progressive 1 1/2 months ago. I changed my carrier after 10 years with Allstate. Allstate had raised their rates so high I was forced to look elsewhere. 2 weeks after getting my new policy with Progressive, my son's car broke down at a Jiffy Lube (after an oil change). Initially I called Progressive to arrange for a tow, but cancelled it because Jiffy Lube wanted time to inspect the vehicle to determine if they were at fault for the mechanical failure.
After the inspection by Jiffy Lube, I called Progressive again to use my roadside assistance policy for a tow. The tow went quickly and smoothly. I was happy with the service. Fast forward to two weeks later. I received a letter in the mail from Progressive stating that my policy was cancelled because I had made two claims within the first 30 days.??? What??? I cancelled the first tow (a claim). But, according to Progressive, just by calling them and requesting a tow that was in effect a claim (even though no money was spent by either party).
I called Progressive to explain their mistake, but basically met a brick wall called the underwriting dept. They explained to me that because I had the audacity to actually use the policy I had paid for - roadside assistance - twice within the first 30 days of my policy, I was considered a high risk customer and therefore they were exercising their rights within the law to drop my policy. Unbelievable! I have a credit rating of 800+. Have never missed a payment in my life. I am as low of a risk that exists on this planet, but "statistically", according to Progressive, I am not worthy of their product.
Now I am switching carriers yet again (a joyful process to be sure). Progressive is not worthy of your time or money. They invest most of the money they make (and we are talking billions) in making TV commercials. FLO seems like a nice lady on TV. But get her on the phone and she is a cold, calculating snake! They take the average of 2 salvage yard's prices to junk it and minus that off of their offer to you if you chose to keep the car and not let them junk it. I caught them lying about one of the quotes that was very high at $673 dollars, most salvage places or car auctions only pay roughly $200-250. So after I priced the same business myself to junk it I knew they were lying. After speaking with my agent she revised it and said now they were quoted a price of $273, which brought my average lower and got me $200 extra on what they were willing to pay me. Well I guess I pissed the agent off because when the tow truck brought the car back the battery was completely dead and the key was in the ignition in the full on position. So it appears that someone literally left it running forever until the battery finally died.
"Extremely unprofessional" doesn't even cover how I feel about them. Steer clear at all costs. I switched the same day to GEICO and saved over $100! Progressive insurance touts "bundling" insurance policies to save money in its television advertisements. "Flo" gets frustrated at a picnic because people are discussing grouping of their policies to save money. Here is the truth of the matter: Progressive Insurance, as well as many other insurance companies, want you to "bundle" all of your policies together under their banner so that they can deceive you by offering low rates on a few of your policies and then rip you off on just one of the policy categories. They are out for maximum profit.
"Bundling" is a deception designed to make you think they're giving you great rates, but you will do better by comparing policy premiums at several different insurance companies without "bundling" them. Let me save you some money. Try out my suggestion. Call a bunch of insurance companies for rates and don't let them talk you into "bundling" all of your policies. You will be very surprised at how much money you can save by spreading out your insurance needs among a number of different companies.

We each worked out our settlements to cover medical bills and pain and suffering (because again rear ended by a drunk driver while pregnant = lots of stress, anxiety and fear). We verified that medpay had covered our medical treatments with the chiropractor and their adjuster ensured us that they had and that our settlements would be coming to us in full. Well, she lied, or as her boss put it “she made a clerical error”.
As soon as we tried to cash our checks they were declined and progressive came back saying that they needed additional documentation from the chiropractor because medpay hadn’t in fact paid for my treatments. Then for my fiancé they said they totaled the amount of his treatment wrong (yes, they agreed that they made a mistake and gave us false info before we signed) and that he had actually gone over the medpay coverage of $5000 by $1200 so they would need to remove that from his payout to pay the doctor. Again, we asked these questions and have documentation and will admit that they messed up, but they expect us to pay and essentially holding us responsible for their bad faith acts.
It apparently doesn’t matter that they agreed to giving us false information before signing, or that they issued us checks and immediately voided them, they’re not willing to budge or accept fault because we signed the settlement so that’s what they’re bound to. They should be ashamed. Our settlements weren’t a lot of money (we accepted the first offer they provided and didn’t attempt to negotiate for more) and now they’re trying to remove a quarter of the amount from each to make up for their mistakes. What’s worse is how petty this is.... That amount of money is nothing to them but makes a huge impact in our lives. Again, they should be ashamed and I would highly recommend going with any other insurance provider.

If you ever have the misfortune to be in an accident with an auto insured by Progressive, don't automatically think you will be paid for your damage. I had an incident with a car insured by Progressive in Dec, which they admitted their client was responsible for, but they refuse to fix my auto because they say they can't confirm coverage and need more time. They think I am just going to go away, they are sadly mistaken. I will write this review everywhere I can. Trust me, patience is not something you can have with this piece of crap insurance provider. So much for their commercials about going the extra. Well then again, they go the extra not to pay for their insured. I hope none of you ever has an accident with this so called provider.

I switched to Progressive Insurance at the end of November 2020. I, unfortunately, had an auto accident in late December. The claim experience was phenomenal. I was 100% taken care of and satisfied with the claim process. However, on 2/5/21 I awoke to an email dated 2/4/21 that stated my policy was canceled on 2/3/21 due to an underwriting issue. I immediately contacted Progressive who told me they had sent two notices regarding needing to conduct an underwriting review. I never received any of that information from them regarding cancelation, otherwise, I would have immediately rectified the situation. I did however receive multiple letters, emails, phone calls, and log-ins on the Progressive app without notice during this time. I updated my policy several times as I removed the loss vehicle, added another (and dropped another vehicle that I had sold). At no time was I made aware of a need for underwriting review.
With dozens of points on contact made with the company and a paper trail to support this claim, I contacted Progressive on 2/5/21 to explain that I was not notified and somewhere a breach in communication occurred regarding underwriting. After hours on the phone and multiple escalations, I was told I need to wait for up to 48 hours for a response and they will in no way reinstate my policy. As an individual who can prove these points of contact and who has every piece of mail sent from progressive stored in a file cabinet (without any underwriting review information included...), and who can prove multiple emails, app logins, website visits, and phone calls, I was kicked to the side and left without insurance, resulting in missing work to rectify insurance needs before driving my vehicle.
Progressive insurance does not operate a business that takes care of their customers and others need to be warned. Before they are put at risk, especially when this company is supposed to mitigate risk for consumers. Today I awoke to snow on the ground, imagine if worst case an accident would have happened without me seeing the one email, cancelation, and would have conducted my daily business not knowing that behind the scenes Progressive was conducting shady business practices. Please note my policy was current and paid, and any point of contact requested of me was immediately responded to. The proof is available if needed. I was told I would have to wait for up to 48 hours to reach a supervisor and in no way would they reinstate the policy.
I want it to be known I don't leave negative reviews often, if at all. I also am a responsible citizen who handles my responsibilities and acts when the situation dictates. Somewhere a breach in the chain of contact occurred and I believe that I have demonstrated that with all my points of contact made with the company I had provided several opportunities to be notified of this breach. I don't believe that was Progressive's intent and that they sought to drop my insurance due to the accident (so that I could create a new policy at double the rate).

Progressive insurance will not allow me three extra days to pay my insurance! They are greedy and have no sympathy toward customers during a time of crisis. I tried reaching out to the CEO and customer service Directors etc. and they don’t care. They threatened to report me to collections for a bill that is just a little over 30 days past due. I have already made a 50% payment of my balance about a week and a half ago. In order to pay my balance I asked them to give me three extra days because that is when I get paid. They said no repeatedly and their threat for collections still stands. They said they will not stop the collections after I begged them and wrote letters.
They are a rotten with no heart company. I have taken in three family members due to the pandemic. I am the sole provider and all I asked them to do is please give consideration to the current climate of the world. It’s not as if I asked them to cancel the bill. I just asked for three additional days to pay it! They are heartless. Do Not choose them. They will do the same to you!

The worst insurance I’ve ever had! Pickup box was damaged in an accident and shifted the bed on impact. They gave me the runaround for 3 months while my truck sat torn apart at the dealership. First they said they’d fix it, then they wouldn’t, then they would again... You get the picture. Was told by the manager after a month of trying to call him, that they would not pay for the damages to the wiring harness. These people nor their managers, will not call you back and there is no one above them to call... believe me, I tried. I called their call center numerous times and was told to keep calling the same halfwit that wouldn’t answer the phone to begin with. I’ll gladly pay more to have better service and better insurance. You get what you pay for.

I was rear ended in October, (1st accident ever and I am 54). The collision repair company that Progressive recommended had my car for over a month. Got my car back and the following week I had to take it back, the check engine light came on, my sensors in my back up camera were not working, my side view mirrors were not working. They had it again for a week and a couple days. They fixed my sensors and said since the check engine light went out there wasn’t anything they could do, they said they talked to progressive about my side view mirrors and they said they would not cover that because it couldn’t be proved that the accident caused it! (Well let’s see, they were working before the accident and now they’re not!)
I had submitted a list of damages, I was hit so hard that my glasses flew off and broke, my dash cam got broke, my screen protector on my phone broke and now I have diminished value on my car and my deductible I wanted reimbursed. My claims adjuster said that I would need to contact the subregion Dept, which I did. Almost 3 months later I finally get my deductible reimbursed and when I asked about the rest of my claim they said that my claim has been paid in full (my deductible) and is now closed! Unbelievable!! I just paid for my next year's policy in full. I don’t care if I have to pay another company double, I am canceling with progressive immediately! I don’t see how this is legal.

I'm very disappointed in the fact that Progressive do whatever it takes to wiggle out of doing what I pay them to do. Which is insure me. that if anything should happen no worries. I have never had a claim in my whole life. And first time I do they drag their feet to not pay. I'm saddened by my experience with Progressive. It's just sad. Don't let these big insurance companies keep making it hard for us. Without customers they are nothing.

Switched coverage to split a car off multi car policy. Have always been with one of the major carriers as I work in insurance, thought I'd give one of the "hands-off" platforms a try. When it came time to need to use a service [roadside assistance] I could not get anyone on the phone. The phone system would disconnect your call after you held for 30+ minute to speak with someone. I then used the automated system to call a tow truck that NEVER arrived after 3 hours. I called back to the customer service once again and after another 45 minute wait and paying an additional $46.00 for 5 miles of towing beyond the distance the coverage allows a tow truck drive actually contacted me. Needless to say, when you are in an accident or broke down is not the time you want to find out your insurance carrier has follow through on the service they sell. Went back to my prior carrier and saved $35.00 a month as well. Lesson learned.

I filed a hail claim with Progressive and from the start they treated me like an absolute criminal. They were very rude, unprofessional, said all the damage was from before I bought the car (not true) and denied the claim because I hadn’t posted pictures of the car when I bought it on social media. For one, I barely post on social media and I surely don’t post pictures of my car—that’s weird. Every year my area gets hit by big storms so I don’t know why this was so hard for them to believe, and I’m stuck with thousands of dollars worth of damage to my car.

They notified me that my policy was being cancelled due to relocation out of state. I understood when the agent described how different states have different auto insurance requirements, and how living with family/renting, covered or non covered parking helped to calculate the rate, thus necessitating a totally a new policy. However, what I did not understand was being charged monthly after the cancellation date for three months, and sent a bill during Christmas week stating I owe $350 that I don’t have as a person unemployed due to COVID.

This was the worst company I ever chose to trust. They are insanely, disgustingly greedy. They threatened to take me to collections over money they told me I didn’t owe after I cancelled my policy with them. They claimed they had sent me emails about the balance (they never did) and did nothing to help me. This is how they treat their customer base during a pandemic. Never, ever again will I come back to this loanshark of a company.

I signed up for auto insurance with the Snapshot device. My initial premium (with Snapshot discount) was just $52 a month, for my BMW X-1. The Snapshot device beeped three times shortly after the car started, and then once or twice each time it came to a stop. While using it, I had no accidents, no claims, no tickets. My mileage was low, thanks to semi-retirement and the pandemic.
When it came time for my policy renewal, Progressive tried to increase the premiums (for the same coverage) by over 400%, to over $200 a month. I logged on to check my Snapshot report. The only negatives were so-called “hard braking”, which seems to have been nearly every time the vehicle came to a stop. Now, I live in an urban area, and there are lots of stop signs and intersections with red lights, meaning lots of stops from a low speed. None of these were panic stops, no tires screeching, no “hard braking”. A passenger in the car would not have noticed anything untoward. Stopping is part of safe driving technique. This is nonsense. I am filing a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioner - and I am finding a new car insurance carrier.

If you experience an accident, they'll be sure to give you the runaround and try to screw you over. On two separate occasions over a 5 year period I had my car totaled and was not at fault. In both of those occasions they low balled me on the value of my vehicle and when I asked questions/referenced valuation services, rather than supply me with reason and answers they offered a few more hundred to keep me quiet. They do not practice good business, so be prepared to look out for yourself. NEVER ACCEPT their first offer.

So Progressive sucked me in with a nice low quote by asking me to provide my current insurance info policy. What they don't tell you is that they are saving you money by chopping your coverages off and raising all your deductibles. Complete waste of my time and those poor ethical tactics really turned me off so I stuck with GEICO. Progressive's same coverage was about $19 less but NO THANK YOU!
