The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced from an insurance company got into a wreck in my vehicle and they’re telling me that the damage that was done on my passenger side was not caused by the accident that I was in. Were you in the vehicle when I was in that accident? I think not. I have been treated as if I’m lying, blatantly disregarded and I will be changing insurance companies, horrible, horrible service. They would do anything to back out on fixing your vehicle.

Beware of Progressive! This company is a nightmare to deal with. Not only do they gradually raise your rates without clear explanation, but they also try to charge you for coverage you didn’t even use. I switched to a different insurance carrier at the beginning of the month — the same date I originally enrolled with Progressive — yet they still tried to bill me for the entire month, even though I was already covered by my new insurance. It feels like they’ll do anything to squeeze extra money out of you. Shady practices and poor customer service. Stay away and look elsewhere for your car insurance.

PSA!! Progressive Insurance added a stranger to mine and my husband’s car insurance policy without our knowledge, without our consent. We noticed our insurance premium jumped up and upon inspection we found that Progressive added a 67 year old man, with a suspended/revoked license, that allegedly lived in the home we live at one point. Progressive refused to remove this stranger from our policy without a written authorization to remove him, though they didn’t request our consent or authorization to add a stranger to our policy.
Progressive refused to reimburse us what we unknowingly paid for another participant that was added to our policy without our knowledge or consent. I spoke with 3 separate Progressive agents, the last being a Supervisor George badge #** whom informed me “Progressive can add anyone on any policy at any time.” George informed me that the extra $20 Progressive wants me to pay, they will retrieve through collections. My husband and I demanded our policy be cancelled immediately- we were long time, loyal customers but never again! Total arrogant scammers!!

This company doesn't even deserve one star but it's making me put one. These crooks are legal thieves. They will quote you extremely low and then within 3 months of being with them if not sooner, you will at least double your monthly premium if not more in my case.

I have experienced significant frustration with Progressive Insurance due to unexpected premium increases and unauthorized additions to my policy. Despite maintaining a clean driving record, my premiums have risen without clear justification. Additionally, Progressive has added unknown individuals to my policy without my consent, leading to further increases in costs. Attempts to resolve these issues with their customer service have been unproductive, leaving me dissatisfied with their practices.

I am extremely disappointed with Progressive Auto Insurance and their unprofessional handling of my policy. I had both home and auto insurance with them and paid my 6-month auto premium in full upfront. When my policy ended, I chose not to renew and switched to a different auto insurance provider. Without my authorization, Progressive withdrew another full 6-month premium from my bank account. I never consented to this renewal, nor did I instruct them to charge my account again. Their unauthorized transaction caused my bank account to be overdrawn, leading to unnecessary financial stress.
When I contacted them about this issue, all they could say was "We’re sorry" and that it would take 10 business days to return MY money. It didn’t take them 10 days to withdraw it, yet they refuse to process a same-day refund, even though they clearly have the ability to do so. Their unwillingness to correct their mistake in a timely manner speaks volumes about their customer service. Because of this experience, I will not be renewing my home insurance with them either. Progressive has lost a loyal and responsible customer due to their lack of integrity and poor business practices. If you're considering insurance with them, think twice before trusting them with your bank information.

Absolutely horrible. Absolutely horrible. I got a policy and then 6 months later got into a crash. The claim agent assigned to me didn't respond to my calls or emails for a week. They told me to take pictures of the accident on their app and I followed their directions to take good ones only for them to tell me I had to wait more because the pictures weren't enough. They ended up refusing coverage because of a technicality-a mistake I had made when applying for the policy (a mistake which was to their benefit because I had to pay extra because of it). Even after refusing coverage and saying they should never have given me coverage because of the policy I made, they refused to refund me the over 1,000 dollars I paid. Huge scam. I then heard from some acquaintances about their nightmares dealing with Progressive and how it's known among experts that their MO is to find any tiny way to squeeze out of paying a cent.

The only one think I can say about their customer service TERRIBLE!!!! The guy I could barely understand kept me on the phone for 45 minutes. No other Insurance company asked ever as specific questions as this guy. After all I asked him to send me a copy of the quote via email. He said, he certainly will. Never got the quote via email. When I called the same number again somebody else responded and told me that even though my quote appears on my account which was created by the first person, he will not send it to me because if I talk to him (and he used a word the real person and certified agent in my state) I will get the REAL quote. Called about getting insurance for my twins who are both in the Navy. Not only did they not know how a military person can register as an address for the insurance, but I also got hung up on once I tried to inform them and wanted to send them the federal regulations that apply. I called back five times and, after finally speaking to a supervisor whom no one wanted to connect me with, the supervisor said, "We don't give any military discount, and we don't go by federal guidelines when it comes to the laws since we are an independent company."
I then told them how can they disregard the people protecting our government and your freedom. I said that the era of Bidens Communist ways referring is over, and thank God we have a president who cares more about the military than the previous one. His response was, "We don't care who is president or not; we just don't give any special discount or any special payment plan." In essence, he stated, "I guess you can say we don't really care if someone is in the military." Because it had rained heavily a fair amount of water leaked in to the camper. Causing water damage and roof damage. A month later agent came out. Immediately tried saying campers are recreational vehicles that depreciate so don't usually get coverage. Then she said in order to get damages covered I need proof of who did it and police report so they can get paid back. Also damage to slide out and switch getting blown isn't proof that it happened when it happened even though previous homeowner said that it wasn't damaged prior to selling me the camper.

Progressive Insurance is the absolute worst! I got rear-ended by one of their clients and had an awful experience. We never received any answers regarding our claim without calling the claim person first, including being made aware our vehicle was a total loss. Additionally, we felt the three-day window for the rental car is not fair to people because it was still over a week before our lien was paid off.
We were also not informed about the option to receive an electronic check for the settlement and were told it would be a paper check; only after a week of waiting for a check did another representative inform us of this option. We have also submitted an additional email to the representative regarding tolls while using the rental and have yet to receive an answer. Lastly, we reached out via phone to the claims supervisor to try and express concerns and never received a call. I don’t care how low their rates are; I would not want Progressive Insurance to represent me in any way.

I have had both Progressive and Geico. Geico is much better when it comes to adding and removing vehicles from the policy. Geico doesn't require any documents for you to removed a vehicle from your policy. Progressive requires documents to remove vehicles from the policy. Which is a real hassle when you buy and sell many cars a year. Not to mention I got a cheaper rate with Geico. So for that reason i will never recommend Progressive. They will no allow you to cancel the policy without knowing who your insurance provider is. WHAT A JOKE!!!! SO IF I DON'T TELL YOU WHO I'M INSURED WITH THEY WOULD JUST KEEP BILLING YOU MONTHLY.

I am writing to express my deep frustration and concern regarding the mishandling of my account and the erroneous charges imposed by Progressive Insurance. It is both stressful and perplexing to deal with a company that has shown such a lack of responsibility. I have recently discovered that Progressive incorrectly assumed my deceased father was alive and driving my car, and that my daughter, who is insured with Nationwide, was living with my mother and driving her vehicle. These inaccuracies have led to unjust charges totaling $689.00 for the first month and $436.00 for the subsequent five months. I keep having to reach out, and the sorry adjuster and her sorry supervisor are worthless employees that don’t do their jobs. I haven’t heard from either, but yet their voicemail says I’m the best person to handle your claim. You can’t handle something you’re not even working on.
Your company doesn’t even deserve the one star I was forced to give to be able to submit this review. Either you overwork your employees or your company and your 2 employees are just pitiful. You all make the person who didn’t cause the accident work harder than the adjuster that’s supposed to be moving the claim along to getting resolved. As a customer who has had a bit of a roller-coaster journey with Progressive Car Insurance, I felt it was necessary to share my recent experience, particularly around loyalty and how it's recognized by the company. After being a Progressive customer for several years, circumstances led me to interrupt my policy for a year. Upon my return, I was under the impression that my previous loyalty would seamlessly bridge the gap, reinstating me to a status reflective of my overall time with Progressive. However, the reality was quite different.
Despite my years of being insured with them, the hiatus meant that my loyalty slate was wiped clean, at least in the context of discounts and membership level. Pre-interruption, I had enjoyed the benefits and service consistency that came with my policy. Upon rejoining, I was placed at a Gold membership level—a clear step down from where my cumulative loyalty could have positioned me, potentially at Diamond status, had the interruption not occurred.
This policy approach by Progressive significantly impacted not just the level of discounts I now receive but also my opinion of the company. The essence of loyalty, in my view, is a mutual recognition of continual support and trust, regardless of intermittent breaks that life sometimes necessitates. By choosing to overlook the totality of a customer's history in favor of uninterrupted patronage, it feels as though Progressive places a heavier emphasis on continuous profit rather than rewarding long-term loyalty.
While my experiences with their customer service, claims handling, and the overall quality of coverage have been generally positive, this issue raises concerns about the value placed on customer loyalty. It seems counterintuitive in a competitive market, where building and maintaining lasting customer relationships should be paramount, to "punish" those who, for whatever reason, might need to pause their policy.
In conclusion, while Progressive offers reliable car insurance and has strengths in various areas, their policy on loyalty, particularly concerning interruptions in policy coverage, leaves much to be desired. Customers who value loyalty recognition as part of their insurance package might find this approach less appealing. It's a reminder that, in some cases, loyalty might indeed "mean nothing" when it comes to tangible rewards, and that the focus remains more on monetary gains rather than genuinely fostering and rewarding customer relationships.

I was hit by a Progressive driver. My daughter was backing into a parking spot, her coworker opened her door and damaged the side of my car. Instead of investigating, coming out to look at my car (only pics) they said they are taking the word of their customer. If her door were opened when my daughter was backing up there would’ve been damage to the back of my car not the side. This coworker bragged that her mom worked for Progressive and she was sure they wouldn’t pay. So instead of actually investigating they just took her word. I will keep this as short as possible, but the fiasco is so much worse in full. I purchased a used car in June/July. Progressive needed me to verify that my girlfriend has her own car insurance, otherwise I need to add her to my policy. I emailed them a copy of her insurance card which names her parents on the front (This is important later).
Weeks go by and I get no response. I call them to ask for an update and they told me they haven't gotten around to looking at the documents I sent them. I demanded they look at it now, and they told me they needed my girlfriend's declarations page. I asked why they couldn't just contact her insurance provider directly like they would if she was in an accident. They have all of her info. Instead they insisted I needed to get the declarations page from her parents. This is all 2 days before the deadline, so I asked if I would be forced to owe any back pay since it has already been MONTHS and they haven't even looked at the documentation I already sent them. They assured me I won't owe any back pay because they will look at the date I sent the email on and charge me based on that, assuming she isn't eligible to be "List only" on my policy.
Yesterday, 12/4/24, I happened to check my bank app and saw I was overdrawn by $600+ from Progressive. I call them to sort it out. They kept me on hold for over an hour. The agent I spoke with was very nice, so I have no issues with her, as this problem was caused by some other moron. She looks over the documents I sent them and says "Who is [mom] and [dad]?" I explained it was her parents. They own the policy. My girlfriend, their daughter, is on the policy too. But only the owners are listed on the insurance card. I then explained that if they read through the declarations page I sent them, a 14 page PDF (a couple pages for each person on the policy), they will see my girlfriend's name is in there.
I'm put on hold for another 30 minutes and they finally get back to me and say that it was all a mistake, she DOES have her own insurance, and I don't owe the $800+ they charged me. Say they will issue a refund in 3 to 5 days. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in the negatives until then accruing overdraft fees for every day they don't issue the refund. I called my bank and they said the best they can do is open a dispute and when I get my refund, they will reverse all the overdraft fees. All of this because someone couldn't be bothered to actually READ THE DOCUMENT THEY DEMANDED I PROVIDE FOR THEM. Someone's unbelievable laziness and irresponsibility is screwing up my bank account, my credit score, my everything, and I'm literally unable to pay for ANYTHING until this gets straightened out.
The woman on the phone was too nice for me to say this part out loud, but when she said "We would've hated to lose you as a customer so thank you for sticking with us" I really wanted to say "That has yet to be determined" but she didn't deserve that after resolving my issue. Progressive had better fire whoever is responsible for this absolute blunder. It's only a couple hundred dollars to them but it's MY entire life they are playing with. They told me I just have to deal with it and I should take it up with Progressive for a faster resolution. Absolutely no soul.

If you have alternatives to Progressive for your insurance needs, you should avoid utilizing Progressive as your agent. I was in an accident (hit a deer) two weeks ago, and the vehicle is still sitting in my garage. Progressive needed a week+ to compose an estimate just from pictures and video. Progressive's quote estimate also quotes used and refurbished parts for a vehicle that is less than a year (nine months) old.
This, of course, would void all long-term factory warranties, but my Progressive agent will not give me any reassurances that they will cover the necessary OEM parts or cover the balance of the factory warranty. As if that headache was not enough, connecting with my "agent" has been extremely difficult. She is unresponsive and unreliable. I have to leave multiple messages before receiving a response, and the agent does not follow-up as stated.
Ultimately, Progressive has made it clear that they are indifferent to the opinion of their client base as long as they receive their regular payments. It is absurd that my car is still damaged in my garage. I can't reach a reliable Progressive agent, and there is no real end in sight as I might have to know the difference between used parts and new parts to repair my car. When I finished with my quote and questions, I told her I was spending the weekend getting quotes and, therefore wasn't purchasing any insurance today. At that point, she got verbally abusive with me, calling me nasty, talking down at me, etc. I was dumbfounded since I never spoke toward her with anything other than my pleasant business voice while I was on a call.
I asked for her name since she didn't give it at the beginning of the call. I usually write down time/date of all business-related calls I make and the Reps' names I spoke with. She refused to give it to me. I asked to be transferred to someone else. I was hung up on. On 9/4 I was involved in an accident where another vehicle reversed into my parked vehicle. This resulted in my passenger front fender and bumper to bend inward and on both I received starches and scrapes that exposed the bare metal and plastic beneath. That night I filed a claim with my insurance company (GEICO) who immediately informed me that I should first file a claim through the other person’s insurance company first (Progressive). Geico told me they would start the process for me and should I receive communication from progressive. After a few days I received an automated text message from Progressive asking me to use their portal to file a claim. This entailed listing what vehicles were involved in the accident and taking a lot of photos and a video of my car. I completed this in the beginning of September.
A couple days later I noticed that on both the Geico and Progressive claim a third blank vehicle was listed bringing the number of vehicles involved from 2 (the correct amount) to 3. It was like the portal had defaulted to adding a vehicle after completing the information for the prior one. I called both Geico and Progressive and informed them both about this discrepancy, clarified that only 2 vehicles were involved, and asked them to remove the third blank vehicle. At this point my claim had been to Sasha ** and it should be noted nearly all of my calls to Progressive were to their Claims hotline as without fail I was directed to Sasha’s voicemail. From what I could through the respective claim portals the correction was made by both insurances. For weeks after I did not receive any communication from progressive.
Near the middle of September, I received a call from Geico stating that Progressive had contacted Geico for information about a third vehicle. Geico then contacted me to confirm if there was a third vehicle. I informed Geico there was no third vehicle and that this matter should have been taken care of already. I gave the contact information for Sasha to the Geico representative on September 16th. By September 20th Geico had still not been able to get in contact with Sasha (and neither have I). Like me all they were able to get was her voicemail. I called Progressive again and obtained the Supervisor’s information (Caroline) and gave that to Geico. From here, Geico said they were able to get in contact with someone.
September 26th, I received an automated message from Progressive asking me to select how I would like my claim to be handled, either they take care of it, or they will send a check. I selected check and the portal said that a virtual estimate would be done, and a check sent to me. In the beginning of October, on a Friday/Saturday I received a letter in the email from Sasha dated September 27th. I thought this letter was going to be my check imagine my surprise when I read the contents, and I found that among other things the letter alarmingly said that Progressive had received no contact from me and that if no contact was made they would assume no damage had occurred to my vehicle and that my claim would be closed.
I immediately called Sasha and received voicemail yet again. I called the Progressive claim hotline and spoke to a gentleman I believe was named Kevin. I asked Kevin about the letter and why would I be receiving it if I have been in contact with Progressive multiple times. I also asked if my claim could be moved to a new adjuster as Sasha was unreachable. Kevin rushed to the defense of Sasha and told me how she had hundreds of claims to deal with and tons of calls to make every day hence why she wasn’t responsive to me. (You would think one of those tons of calls would be to me but no, at this point she had never reached out to me).
Kevin also told me after reviewing the notes on the claim that Sasha sent the letter because she had been contacting with Geico to get some information, but Geico was “withholding” that information. I told Kevin “I think I know what this about, it’s about the third vehicle isn’t it?”. I tried to explain what had occurred and how it should been resolved. Kevin cut me off and informed me that “no the information that Sasha was seeking was not about a third vehicle.” I asked Kevin what was it about then. Kevin said I would need to talk to Sasha as he didn’t have access to it on his end. (Side note: How could he know that it wasn’t about the third vehicle but also not know what it was about). Kevin further stated that at this point Progressive had done all it could and was waiting for Geico now and in fact Geico should have been in contact with me to resolve the hold-up.
I informed Kevin that the letter stated none of that at which point he said, “Well sir what do you want me to do, change the letter?” At this point I felt Kevin was utterly dismissive about every single one of my concerns and went out of his way to try to prove I was wrong. I asked the matter to be escalated to a supervisor. After getting off the phone with Kevin I called Geico hotline immediately. I didn’t inform Geico of anything I learned and just asked the agent to let me know what was in the notes. The Geico agent informed me that the last communication they received was Sasha calling them to get information about the third vehicle and they had informed her that there was no such vehicle. They had tried to reach Sasha but like me were sent to voicemail and on their end Geico was waiting for Progressive to make a determination about liability. Everything Kevin told me was a bold face and easily proven lie.
On the following business day I got a call from the supervisor Caroline who informed me that in fact the status of the claim was they were waiting for ME to upload an estimate and she asked me if I had received a link to upload an estimate. I had not. I quickly received the link to upload and as luck would have it I had already scheduled an estimate to be done at a local shop. The following day I got my very first call from Sasha asking if I had gotten the link to upload. I had. The shop uploaded the estimate to Progressive and near the end of the week I was contacted by Max the Progressive repair representative who said he would complete the estimate quickly and get the ball rolling on repair. The estimate from the shop detailed the work that needed to be done and included a multitude of photos.
Max then sent back his estimate which was nearly half the estimate of the shop’s and most notably didn’t include any lines for painting and just listed buffing with no explanation given for the changes/removals. To reiterate the damage to my car had exposed bare metal and plastic. You can’t buff that away. The following business day the shop informed me that Max was requiring to see my vehicle. (Side note 2: This was completely different than my experience with Geico that had simply cut a check for the repair estimate the shop gave. Additionally, this shop had worked with Progressive before and in fact worked with Max multiple times as well.)
I dropped my car off on a Monday for Max and the shop to go over the damage. I was not informed that any work would commence with my car nor was I asked if I had a ride. This car is my commute car and my only stable means of getting to my job. Later in the week Max sent me and the shop a supplemental estimate and the shop informed me they had been given the go ahead to start working and had actually already started. The following days I found ways to get to work hitching rides from friends/family/coworkers and walking. I was unaware and never made aware a rental was an option. On Friday my car was still not done and that weekend and the following week I would need a car for work travel. It was my coworker who informed me that a rental should have been provided. I frantically called Sasha, Caroline, and Max and got voicemail on all three. \
I called the Progressive hotline who informed me that while yes a rental could be arranged only the aforementioned three could approve it. The ladies who I contacted through the hotline were extremely helpful and made sure I stayed on the line while they contacted Max, Caroline, and Sasha via teams to make sure they were available before transferring me. After a bit of waiting the lady informed that Caroline was OOO and Max was unavailable. Sasha was green on teams and she was waiting for a response. A bit later Sasha had teams messaged the lady stating she could take my call right then. I was transferred and wouldn’t you know it, sent directly to voicemail.
I called the hotline again, voiced my frustration and reiterated the urgent need for a vehicle. I was promised that Sasha would call me asap but there was a potential that said call wouldn’t happen until the next Monday. Nearly 2-3 hours later I received a call from Sasha that my rental was approved. My car remained in the shop for another week. I picked up the car from the shop more than 2 months after the incident. I’m grateful that my car got repaired, but Progressive made this the most grueling, frustrating, and exhausting experience with the lies, lack of communication and unprofessionalism. I’m sure everyone has horror stories with every insurance company. But my two cents skip Progressive get Geico.

Due to my recent experience with Progressive, I highly recommend everyone check your insurance's online account every month for unauthorized changes. That and avoid Progressive and affiliates. Your coverage history (with other providers) can and will be pulled into your policy premium without your authorization, increasing your premium and auto-pulling from your bank account if you don't catch it!
I thought that I had found a reputable insurance at a good price. I had shopped around online and Progressive offered the best price for my 3 vehicles with me as the only driver. (They were suspicious that I had 3 vehicles all to myself, but you might relate to my scenario - ranch vehicle, comfortable trip vehicle, and building-supplies-from-Home-Depot vehicle) and I stated from the start that the drivers from my history were not in my immediate household any longer and more importantly - didn't drive my vehicles. But because they had been listed under former policies that I've had, Progressive just decided on the second or third month to add them in AND at extremely outrageous prices - more than three hundred more a month! That's more than any policy I had ever had with everyone on it.
As soon as I saw the increase, I called and talked to their Underwriting staff who said I needed to get them proof that the others don't live with me. They want their pay-check stubs (with withholding statement - why?), or new proof of living arrangements. I set out to cancel my policy and found another insurance provider. Cancelling was easy enough to do, but Progressive still wants the documentation on those other drivers or I will still owe a back-dated premium of $300 plus.
What baffles me is that they don't cover non-listed drivers in a claim anyway. If there is an accident and a non-listed driver was driving, they would deny the claim. It's not like there is a risk to them. Many insurance companies have policies requiring roommates and tenets to be listed in the household on vehicle insurance policies because there is a remote possibility that person might drive the covered vehicle. If they don't cover non-listed drivers, they shouldn't be asking for all that. It's an invasion of privacy that is not necessary to their risk assessment. It is simply a ploy to get more money.
I'm ok with mandatory insurance that covers someone else if I am at fault, but there should be a national coverage limit and it should be based on the driver only. I can only drive one vehicle at a time! People who want to cover their own vehicles can opt for more coverage. Anything more is a racket. And that's what Progressive is doing; running a racket.

She had an attitude with me and she also brought up the fact that I was **. If I could leave negative stars I would. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. It took them 4 weeks to even begin the process of looking at my car after I filed a claim. They were not willing to do a thorough investigation of what happened and did not honor their own warranty because of that. It would be days before I heard from anyone and it’s only because I called and requested call backs. The people who spoke with me were rude and made me feel like I was doing something wrong. They also never communicated with the auto body shop that was doing the repairs until I contacted them. Not a single person cared or even acted polite during the entire SIX week process to which I had to pay for a rental car for. The auto body shop payed to have the car towed to them. Progressive refused. Absolutely horrific experience from beginning to end.

Example. I drive a Hyundai which is unfortunately part of a national car theft pandemic. I have called numerous national and local insurance companies for a reduction in the yearly bill. I was refused by every one of them because of the brand I drive.
If the law states that everyone must carry auto insurance regardless of age, race, gender, etc. You cannot refuse to insure people based on brand, driving record, zip code or area of the country.
2. Insurance reform on rate determination.Insurance companies should not be based on credit and zip code but should include income as well. Low-income citizens with poor credit are charged higher rates because of credit rating and zip code and not income.
Example: I signed up for debt consolidation and my score dropped considerably. I am being charged more for my auto insurance because of the lower credit score. I am also currently charged more for my zip code. I should not be held accountable for poor drivers in my area. I do not fall into that group.
3. Insurance reform based on the herd effect.Companies should never be allowed to charge you based on the surrounding population’s driving habits. My rate should be determined solely by my driving habits alone, not the general population.
Example: I have been told on multiple occasions that my rate is based on "drivers in my area" causing the rates to be higher where I live. This should not be allowed.
4. Insurance reform based on value. Brand, the driver should not be continually charged a higher rate within a certain period because of the brand. If the value of a vehicle drops excessively because of a national theft pandemic of an Example: My Santa Fe was worth $25K in 2023. It is now worth $15K because of the attempted theft, and national theft pandemic. My auto insurance rate has continued to climb by $50 to $80 every six months. This needs to stop.
5. Insurance reform on ticketing. If a ticket or moving violation drops off a person's driver's license within 24 months. Insurance companies should not be allowed to continually charge a higher rate after the violation drops off the driving record.
Example: I got a ticket over a year ago. This ticket has dropped off my driver's license. I am still being charged for the ticket that is no longer on my driving record.
6. Insurance price gouging reform.Due to inflation, COVID19, and other economic and natural disaster events. Caps should be placed on commissions and profits. Insurance companies should not be allowed to price gouge consumers based on the consumer's brand of vehicle, changes in the economy, or natural disasters.
Example: Because of my brand of vehicle, zip code, area of the state where I live and other natural disasters in the southeast. Once again, I am being charged for everyone around me and not my personal driving history.

They also added Ride Share to my account after I asked them not to (I don't do ride share...), confirmed several times that they took it off, and it's still on there for $400 extra per month. He proceeded to argue with me about my mom being on my policy in the past year… mind you I’m 55 years old and haven’t shared a policy with her since I turned 19.
Anyway later that afternoon I get an alert that says there were changes to my policy. I open it up and my payment went from 300 and some change to 1369.00 a month… the agent put both my son and daughter on my policy after telling me they couldn’t be since they did not live with me then upped my payment over a 1000 without consent from me at all. When I got back to the States, I called to ask why my policy is getting canceled and why the random person was added to my account, they said that person was automatically added because they had the same address, and my policy is getting canceled because I'm not paying to the $211. I requested the random person to be removed from my policy so I don't have to pay the amount that I don't owe but they said the underwriting department who is the only that could remove someone from my policy is closed today so there's nothing they can do and my policy will be canceled at midnight if I don't pay that amount that I DO NOT OWE.
I called again the next day and of course my policy is canceled a month and a half before it expires, they refused to do anything unless I pay $211 to get my policy active again and there's no guarantee I'll get that full amount back. Despite me providing proof of my payments, the collector still tried to charge me, and their manager was incredibly rude. I signed up with Progressive in Jan of this year. Also signed up for the snapshot program. In this program, I am supplied with a device that plugs into my OBD terminal and monitors my miles and braking / acceleration habits. This is very typical of how AI measures you as a risk but my main goal was to find an insurance company that would rate me properly for the extreme low miles I put on my car.
I had one speeding ticket a year ago so my initial 6 months rate was not too low but not too bad either. The promise of Snapshot is that if you show a good driving habits and low mileage during the first 45 days of use you will be rewarded with a discount. If at any time before the 45 days you think you are maybe driving poorly and want to withdraw or just check your progress you have to call in. There is nothing on the website to tell you if your driving is making your rates go up or down. In my case the website breakdown of my driving kept saying stuff like.... great job, you are on your way to lower rates.
All during this pre-45-day period I would get e-mails from Progressive telling me .... "Great job, keep using your device for lower rates." I never did get an actual breakdown of how my driving was going to affect my rates and it was getting close to the 45-day cutoff so finally I called in and talked to a human. He said that even though I had a few "hard" braking records (the system is very sensitive) I showed good driving and low mileage. So I decided to run with it. It wasn't until close to renewal, 6 months, that I started getting notices to send the device back.
Then I get my renewal notification with an amount that is $464.00. This renewal amount is supposed to reflect my Snapshot discount and yet my original 6-month amount without Snapshot was $395.00. Hmm seems like all the promises made by Progressive were for naught. For someone like me who only puts less than 1500 miles a year on the car, it would be nice if there was an insurance company that would take this into consideration.

The garage tried contacting her numerous times and no response. I received the check yesterday so I went to drop off the rental and go get my car.
The guy at Enterprise me informed me that they have been trying to reach out to Progressive for 1 1/2 weeks to find out about the extension for the car and he showed me around 17 emails and calls which there was no response to. There is a bill for $365 and I can't get my deposit back till they get ahold of you and pay the bill. I couldn't get my car till you sent a check which means I wasn't bringing the rental back till then so I'm not paying that $365. This accident happened on June 1st and most of this 6 weeks the car was just sitting there waiting for you. The accident that I got into was not my fault. Someone ran a red light. This was just an awful experience.

They definitely scam you to get more money each month. I insured my 3 vehicles with Progressive. I enrolled in the auto payments for a discount. The guy who set my account up said my debit card had to be a brick and mortar bank. No problem. I used my First Citizens account. The initial payment went through fine. The second payment went through fine. The third payment didn’t come out and I noticed this within 2 days of it not coming out so I called. They stated there was a problem with my card. While I was on the phone with progressive I called the bank. The bank stated nothing had tried coming out and it must be a problem on their end. They used the same card to make the payment with no problem. My bank even stated the funds were available on and before the day.
Anyway moving forward a few weeks later I received a text saying my bill was ready. I opened it and it was over 100 dollars higher so I called and progressive said it was because I removed myself from the auto pay which I did not. I told them that was not true and to put me back on it. I gave them the card number and they said they could not take that card. The account has never been overdrawn. Always has cash in it. No reason for them not to take it. The lady insinuated that I was lying about it been a brick and mortar bank card. Had to have the account and routing number to put me back and then said it would still cost 75 dollars more on the next payment because it was prorated. No payment came out. No payment was due. Said they emailed me on the 7th. But I talked to them about it on the 10th and the guy basically left me thinking that the card I paid with. The original card was still on file and I was still on auto pay. Don’t use this company.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Progressive Insurance regarding my car insurance claim. On June 12, 2024, my car was flooded in the middle of the road. I promptly arranged for a towing company and contacted Progressive. Despite my persistent efforts, it took until June 17—five days later—for the adjuster to arrange for my car to be towed to the body shop. During this time, I had to rely on a rental car.
Progressive promised to inspect my car on July 1. Since then, I have been calling every other day to follow up, but I have received no information about the status of my claim. The dealership's report indicates that my car is a total loss, yet after 32 days, Progressive has not provided any report or feedback about my car's situation. While the adjuster, Jeralyn, has tried to assist, she also lacks information, and each time I call, I am told that they will check with the inspector and get back to me immediately, which never happens.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and disrespectful. As a client since 2016, I had never needed to use my insurance until now, and the lack of attention, professionalism, respect, and consideration is deeply concerning. The financial burden of renting a car for over a month due to Progressive's failure to communicate or resolve my claim is unacceptable. I strongly advise against using Progressive Insurance. When you need support, you will find yourself alone and without assistance. There are numerous other insurance companies available; I recommend choosing one that is reliable and responsive. I DO NOT recommend Progressive!

I had the worst experience with Progressive. I purchased an auto policy through a nice agent, and it started on 6/30/24. Ten days later, I received a letter from them asking me to call regarding my older son, who is not listed on my policy. When I called, I spoke to an unprofessional representative. I explained that my older son lives on his own and has his own auto policy.
The representative then asked if I had any other household members. I mentioned my younger son, who is only 15 years old. She requested his information and insisted that he needed to be listed on my policy. I informed her that he is not licensed and does not even have a learner’s permit. When I asked why he needed to be listed, she claimed it was Virginia law and threatened to cancel my policy if I refused. Reluctantly, I agreed to list him, assuming it was the law, and asked what would happen next. She said she didn’t know until I provided his information. After doing so, she immediately informed me that my premium would increase by $404.86. I was extremely upset but didn’t argue with her.
I then spoke with my agent, who agreed that this situation was not right. It seemed like a pre-charge for a non-licensed person. I called Progressive again and spoke with a knowledgeable representative who explained that this is not Virginia law but a legal document requirement. This means the first representative either lied or was not well-prepared for her role. She was trying to find excuses to increase my premium. Ultimately, I found another company and canceled my policy with Progressive. It was a terrible experience.

We had been with Progressive for over 10 years and rates just kept hiking every 6 months until this time the rate hike took my auto policy over $500...I decided to shop the price and found 2 different companies that gave me the exact same policy for under $300... This was 1 month ago... Today I received a bill for under $17 that said final notice before we send to collections...so I called and inquired about said $17 and paid it and asked how after 10 plus years of auto drafted payments never once late, I can receive a final notice before collections 1 month later... Mind you my renters Insurance is still through them (for now)...
The rep tried to belittle me saying, "We sent an invoice on June 21st"...BTW I don't have said invoice... At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor and before transferring me, she decided to reiterate that an bill was sent 6/21... My last expense check took over 3 weeks from post mark date to make it from MD to NC... Evidently our 10 plus years of service and over $50,000 in on time payments didn't deserve better... Oh and then the supervisor pretty much said the same thing just better worded, and that she would review the call... Spend your hard earned money else where, just a public service announcement... Progressive sends me my quote and confirms my price. Today I click on the link they sent me and…surprise surprise! The quote has been price gouged across all dimensions and it is 15% more expensive in just 4 days.
1) It is normal for them to run checks after the midnight of the same day. Following that they can change the price (+15% increase in my case). This is due to some sort of regulations.
2) If I had paid at the same time, I was seeing the quote, the price would have not changed by a single penny (i.e.: that regulation check maybe applies or maybe not. But the price would not change.)

Her insurance company is State Farm, they are not claiming liability even though I was told their claims adjuster is out of town for 2 weeks so how can they say the driver who hit me is not at fault and if they did a virtual investigation why can't they talk over the phone about their findings?
I can't even contact the claims adjuster for State Farm at the moment. PLEASE STAY WAY. Terrible experience with Progressive. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with progressive after my car was involved in an accident in FEBRUARY 22. I cannot stress enough how disappointed and frustrated I am with their handling of the situation. First and foremost, their estimate of my car as a TOTAL LOSS was completely inaccurate. Not only did they undervalue my vehicle, but they also failed to consider the possibility of REPAIR. This left me in a difficult position, as I now have a CAR THAT I AM UNABLE TO USE BUT STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR.
To make matters worse, despite having POSSESSION OF MY CAR, progressive refuses to cover the cost of a replacement vehicle or provide any form of temporary transportation. This has left me stranded and without a means of transportation, forcing me to rely on costly alternatives. Even more infuriating is the fact that I am still expected to make MONTHLY PAYMENTS for a car that is essentially useless BECAUSE THEY HAVE MY CAR. It is simply unacceptable for progressive to expect me to continue paying for a vehicle that I am unable to use due to their own mishandling of the situation.
I have repeatedly reached out to their customer service team “NICOLE **”, only to be met with vague responses and empty promises. It is clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority for progressive. One of the most concerning incidents occurred when my car was at the body shop. Progressive was PRESSURING me to sign the papers to release the car, claiming that there was a fee they needed to pay if the car remained there. I decide to help them, I reluctantly signed the papers. However, as soon as I signed, progressive suddenly stopped responding to my inquiries and concerns.
Since then, I have been LEFT TO DEAL with the consequences of their actions. Despite HAVING POSSESSION OF MY CAR, progressive has failed to provide ANY FORM OF COMPENSATION or reimbursement for the loss I have incurred. I am now left in a situation where I have to CONTINUE MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS TO THE BANK for a car that I cannot use.
The accident occurred when another driver rear-ended my car. I IMMEDIATELY reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The police report CLEARLY states that the other driver was at fault for the collision and HE ALSO HAS PROGRESSIVE. However, progressive entered false information into their system, claiming that the accident was my fault.
As a result of this unjust attribution, I have suffered the LOSS OF FOUR POINTS FROM MY DRIVER'S LICENSE. These points not only affect my driving record but also have potential consequences on my insurance premiums. It is disheartening to see the negative impact this false claim has had on my reputation as a responsible driver.
In conclusion, my experience with progressive has been nothing short of a NIGHTMARE. Their inaccurate assessment of my car as a total loss, refusal to provide a replacement vehicle or temporary transportation, and expectation of continued payments for a useless car have left me feeling cheated and taken advantage of. I STRONGLY CAUTION ANYONE CONSIDERING their services to THINK TWICE before entrusting Progressive with their insurance needs.

Calling for some information, clarification, or documents is like you are calling them on their personal time off on the weekends when they are spending with their family, and not on a Tuesday at 1pm. Every call, either with the person in charge of my claim (Kierra), or just calling into customer service and getting a random rep has been met with animosity right off the bat, male and female CS alike. Which is very confusing, because I do not approach them in such a way. Really considering leaving Progressive because I should not have to fight to get some information.

This is not the insurance company you want. They lie to you and threaten you. They added my roommate to my policy without consent (nowhere in the policy does it state they charge you if you don't report who you live with). Upon calling they made me feel like a criminal and said they would report me. I filled out an exclusion, my rates will go up $75 for doing this, otherwise I will have to pay $3000 for my roommate.
I can't remove her from my policy, unless I verify, she doesn't share the same address (Or I move). Extortion! They claim there is a "chance she might drive my car, or ride in it. Therefore, she needs to be on my policy. I am glad to see I am not the only one this has happened to. But I am determined that this gets investigated! They claim Nevada law lets them do this! I never complained about rate hikes after 6 months, or the extra charge when I stopped using snapshot. But this? This is unfair practices. They truly do not care about you as a person. Ok, this is complicated. First I would like to say that I do not appreciate the deceptive practices that can be committed by this company. Some context, I rent an apartment suite above a garage at a single family home. My household includes just me. My landlord's son just obtained his driver's license. Progressive, without asking or communicating, placed her son onto my insurance policy, which prompted a dispute from me. This dispute elevated. Progressive explained that all members in the household were required to be on my policy. I debated this. After not only insisting, and actually placing him on my policy I provide them with proof of insurance. Being that they were trying to charge me insurance, and his mother insurance company was already insuring him, this creates a deceptive practice of double dipping.
I spoke with high level individuals in the State Insurance Commission who assured me that this was not legal if I provided proof of insurance. The insurance people then said, even with proof of insurance, they would continue to charge me an extra $7.99 fee for him as an unlisted driver living at the same address. I continued to dispute this and the State insurance commission agreed with me. There was NO legal basis for this fee. Progressive claimed they had a special agreement with the commission to do so, however the commission disagreed and stated unequivocally that they have no special agreements with any individual company that allows this and had never heard of anything like this occurring before.
Fast forward, they credited me back the almost $300/ month they were charging me for my landlord's son but in the renewal policy, I moved to the Emerald loyalty tier having been a long term customer, yet my bill increased from $97/month to $114/month. After speaking with a representative at progressive they explained that a risk assessment was conducted and required an additional $8.00 added to my agreement. This is very clearly a fraudulent way to continue charging me the $7.99 fee that the state commission stated was not legal to charge. Extremely deceptive and I will even say a fraudulent business practice.
I inquired with several other insurance companies, and each one stated they had never heard of such a thing occurring where drivers were forced onto someone’s policy because they shared the same address, let alone hiding non-permissible charges as a form of retaliation for the legal dispute. I am in the process now of filing a formal complaint, as recommended by the state insurance commission. The commission was perplexed by this situation. It could have happened to many other, but perhaps I am the only one to speak up and push back on it only to find that I am correct and the company is being deceptive. My experience with Progressive was great all the way up until this situation and since has been quite poor.

You believe they called me and started threatening that they would have an investigation and stuff. No problem, I paid out of my pocket. I did it wrong. Yes!
The first time a man called me and talked to me with a horrible arrogance and said that I chose the cheapest so that I would be content with the broken glass and the best that is recording. And now on 04/23 I receive an email saying that they are not going to renew the policy and that I would have to go to another company. Guys, they’re terrible. Luckily, I was viewing my account to make a change of address and saw the extra random person. When I called to ask what was going on, they stated the reason for adding her was based on a report that her information was "similar" to mine. They put it on me saying they had sent me an email. (Now, I did not see this email BUT WHY GO AHEAD, DID I RESPOND?) I never confirmed or reached out myself to add another person on my policy. How dare they because Had I not caught it, they would have charged me for it on my payment date. Now I am canceling my account with them because when I called customer service to remove the person - they told me I needed to fill out a form and it would be a few days to process.
OH SO YOU CAN ADD SOMEONE WITHOUT MY SIGNATURE, BUT YOU NEED MY SIGNATURE TO REMOVE THEM? They create policies that only benefits them and does not make sense for the customer. Progressive - what right did you have to add a complete stranger to the policy that I pay for without my consent and then put it on me to fix? Recently, I had my hood blow up while I was on the highway & it suffered damage. I filed my claim under comprehensive & the adjuster I spoke with was the most rude, uninformed adjuster I have ever dealt with. I have been a paralegal for over 15 years & deal with insurance daily & have never experienced the horrible customer service the adjuster gave me. I spoke with her once when she told me where to take my car. When I took it to the collision center, I assumed they would do the estimate & get back to the adjuster who would then contact me. WRONG. The adjuster accepted the estimate & the collision center proceeded to repair my car without my knowledge.
When I received an automated text that they were repairing my car, I called, emailed & texted my adjuster with no response. I contacted her supervisor with no response. I instructed the shop to halt all repairs on my vehicle because the $2k damage to the hood should have totaled out my car with 190k miles & engine damage. I then spoke with a Progressive rep who manages the body shop who informed me that it is normal not to have contact with the adjuster after the car is taken to the shop. He also informed me that the estimate didn’t total my car because the engine damage hadn’t been formally diagnosed prior to the hood damage. I instructed him to send me the check & not fix my vehicle.
When I towed my vehicle home, my engine would not even crank when before I took it in, it would at least crank & run. I am still waiting for my check & it has been a week since it was supposedly mailed & over 2 weeks since the damage to my hood. I am stuck with a car that won’t even crank & no way to get another vehicle until I get the check in the mail. Save yourself the headache & go elsewhere. It isn’t worth the few dollars you save to have this awful customer service.

Customer service has relatively been good but, I recently got a bill increase from 123 to 187, with 1 speeding ticket In the last 10 years & no at fault accidents in over 12 yrs. Auto insurance companies are losing money right now due to inflation and cars being in the shops for longer. So they decided to increase my bill. I'm currently in school and not making much right now until I finish school. So the increase in my auto insurance bill was completely unsustainable for me. They suggested to completely redo my policy to see if they could save me some money. Once they did.
I went from having full coverage with car insurance rental roadside assistance & 0 deductible, which would normally be $500 deductible, because I've been with them for 16 years, to none of that, I would have had to pay $2500 out-of-pocket deductible & the bill was still over $200 a month for just me. I had one claim due to an accident I was not at fault for and progressive was able to get their money back from the other driver's insurance. I moved to a new state and when updating my insurance, I was told I could not get a quote from insurance because my car had been reported missing or stolen. I was shocked, considering the fact that I had my car and had never reported it stolen. I was then left running around trying to find out what had happened. I contacted my lien holder and they said there were no issues with the title, I contacted my previous state DMV and they said there were no missing reports for my vehicle. I contacted the progressive quote support email and was simply told they could not offer me a quote because of the vehicle history of being reported stolen. They gave no other information but to get a Carfax report to learn more.
I then had to pay to get a Carfax report to find that the car had been reported stolen and then recovered in 2020, a time before I owned the car. I called progressive asking for a refund on the Carfax report and a letter stating this was a progressive policy to not insure the car. They refused the refund (which I can grudgingly understand, although I still find it wrong) and they refused a letter. I was treated as though I had done something wrong and was told there was nothing to be done. Progressive is a billion dollar company and this is how they treat their customers. I paid thousands of dollars to them over the years for very little in return. It also takes days to be able to reach anyone on the phone that can help you. Multiple times I spoke to someone who could not help me and could not transfer me to someone who could, their only suggestions were to reach out to the automated email. The adjustor assigned to the claim did not send the proper amount to the lender and refused to listen to my suggestion of "running the numbers" again. She prematurely closed my case and I am being held responsible for the remaining balance on the vehicle.
I was also instructed by the adjustor to make a car payment to the lender even though the vehicle was not in my possession and had been legally signed over to progressive. I believe she did this in order to get a lesser amount that progressive would be responsible to pay. I believe that the adjustor intentionally, and dishonestly, mismanaged my claim due to greed and lack of concern for customers. I also believe I am not the only customer this has happened to. I have contacted the top executive as well as management at progressive, to no avail, as of today. The accident was mid January and the case was closed around a month ago.

I have also cancelled one claim earlier because the person driving said he will pay for it but he never did so I submitted a claim again and they are asking for 2000 deductible when I pay 280 a month. My fault to be honest but still not cool.
Then when I tried to reopen the claim and submitted the new one they said that I am doing this twice and I already submitted one. But I was instructed to do so by them before. There was an obvious miscommunication which they didn't even care about to wait for me, send me an email, or anything and they cancelled my claim. Also as soon as I am over this and tried to cancel the insurance I can not because I filed with them for 6 months (some policy). Also after that call, they actually send me a non-renewal information that I can't renew with them again which I would not obviously do even if I had zero other options because what I paid for insurance I could have my damages covered 3 times already.
Also claiming that I actually misinterpreted some information or provided a faulty one and that's the reason they are not renewing. But when you look at it from poor customer point of view, huge company like that is just trying to cover their ** and get as much money as possible from you. Filed a claim with Progressive because one of their insured rear-ended me while I was stopped at a traffic light. Their driver admitted fault in a text message. First, Progressive wanted photos of the damage, then they wanted the Florida Traffic Crash Report. I contacted my dealership where all service has been performed in the 7 years of owning my vehicle and got a repair estimate from them (for over $1500). Now, Progressive is saying that the documentation (that they requested) is insufficient and that they now want to waste more of my time to examine the damage in person during their limited and inconvenient daytime hours (with no possibility of evening or weekend availability). What a load of...! This is a terrible way to treat a claimant and a definite reason not to ever contract with Progressive for insurance! Purchase this insurance at your own peril!

Had a first time accident (haven't had an accident), so they took away my benefits, misjudged the accident, never contacted me to let me know they ruled against me and declare at fault, when they told it would an accident ruled that both drivers would be at fault. Terrible experience.

September 2023 I signed my 16-year-old son up for car insurance. I had it automatically come out of my account once a month so I didn't keep an eye on it. I thought they would be honest. His bill went from $190 to approximately $315 a month. When I seen this I called and questioned them. They had added five other drivers to his policy for those people. We're not even around anymore because of a divorce and the fifth person is is a person. Nobody even knew who that person was so they've been charging my account illegally for months.
They said they sent a letter to me in a month asking about this. Never seen it. Never seen an email on top of that either and when I try to talk to them for over an hour yesterday I got nowhere with anybody. This seems like a huge scam where they're taking money legal from people and hoping they won't catch it. I can't believe I used to think a Progressive was a good company. Only to find out they're thieves like every other insurance company it seems like here lately. I just can't believe the stunts this company is pulling.

I have a multi-vehicle policy with Progressive and have been using them for years with zero claims. I filed my first claim on my Thor Magnitude Super-C Motorhome that was caused by a wind event when traveling through mountain passes in Colorado. After the adjuster review my entire claim was denied stating it was based on poor design of the motorcoach and not a singular event that could be pointed to. They also broke out my claim into multiple sub-claims to ensure a deductible was applied to each one. I'm sure all perfectly legal but I'm absolutely astonished at how far they went to avoid paying out on damage that I pay for coverage for.

In October, my 2012 Mercedes GL 350 encountered an unfortunate collision when it was struck from behind while stationary at a stoplight. What ensued was a disheartening experience with Progressive Insurance, characterized by a stark lack of diligence and a disregard for customer well-being. At the time of the incident, my vehicle, meticulously maintained and mechanically sound, suffered a substantial antifreeze leak, rendering it inoperable. Despite Progressive's commitment to addressing the necessary bodywork repairs, they regrettably declined to acknowledge or rectify the consequential mechanical issues, attributing their decision to the age of the vehicle (2012) and its mileage (105,000).
It is imperative to underscore that my car was fully functional and drivable prior to the accident, making the current mechanical complications a direct result of the collision. This glaring disparity between the pre- and post-collision condition contradicts the fundamental principle of insurance coverage – the restoration of the insured property to its pre-loss state. I must clarify that Progressive Insurance represents the at-fault party's insurer, not my own. Despite my innocence in the incident, the aftermath has led to substantial personal investment, prolonged engagement with bureaucratic processes, and the unfortunate transformation of a once-pristine vehicle into an immobile state.
In light of these circumstances, I respectfully seek a reevaluation of Progressive's position. I request a thorough consideration of the mechanical issues resulting from the collision and a commitment to restoring my vehicle to its pre-accident operational state. This pursuit aligns with the core principles of insurance coverage and the expectation that damages, both visible and mechanical, be appropriately addressed. I trust that Progressive Insurance will take this matter seriously and demonstrate a commitment to upholding the integrity of their service. Your prompt attention to this request is greatly appreciated.

I would rated zero star if there is an option. I have been a loyal customer since 2005, this company had always provided best service. Recently, they added a teen (not my kid) from my brother-in-law's girlfriend previous marriage on my policy. I explained, they are just visiting from out of state with extended stay, they also have their own auto insurance. They advise I can put on her on exclusion list, but yet they still increase my insurance 300 dollars and expect me to pay that in 19 days. In addition, Progressive sent me nonrenewal notice until I provide each person live on the household. The customer service rep (Towana #**) was so rude on the phone, actually encourage me to check other company. Worst experience I had. I've recently had a disheartening experience with Progressive Insurance that I feel compelled to share. Without any prior notification, my stepdaughter was added to my daughter's insurance policy, causing an unexpected increase of over $100 per month in our premiums. Despite reaching out for clarity, Progressive has yet to show any proof that they had informed us of this significant change beforehand. This lack of transparency is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on their commitment to customer service.
The aspect that has been most troubling is not being consulted or informed about changes that directly affect my policy. This unexpected alteration, made without my consent, is not only unprofessional but also calls into question the company's operational ethics. Additionally, the response from the customer service team has been unsatisfactory. Their failure to provide a clear explanation or solution has only compounded the issue. This experience has significantly diminished my trust in Progressive Insurance. It's a stark reminder to be vigilant about policy changes, especially when clear communication from the insurer is lacking.

The next day, I received a call from adjuster (JXs***), who collected the information again and advised me to contact the other driver's insurance if I wanted to repair my car.
Initially convinced, I later learned from friends that it's customary to contact one's own insurance company first, and the adjuster would assist in facilitating the repairs. Despite this insight, I am still awaiting a call from Progressive's adjuster, and there has been a lack of follow-up or communication. Even after reaching out to the escalation claim department, my call was transferred to the adjuster's voicemail, leaving me frustrated with the lack of responsiveness and assistance in resolving the situation.

My insurance premium was fair when I got my first quote and so secured it for 6 months. I was new to Florida and I left the state for the summer with my Florida car in storage. I was still covered when I left the state. I got a renewal notice and the premium was raised by $200.00 which made no sense to me, as we had no claims. I felt they just quoted me low to get my business, then raised it thinking I’d just pay the higher cost. So I called the toll free number and explained the car was in storage and felt a premium increase was not warranted, as I was not driving the car. I inquired if there was a storage option and the woman who answered the call was apparently new. I started asking her how I could save on my premium, she wasn’t able to suggest anything on how I could save since my car was in storage. It made no sense to me, so I let it cancel at the end of the term.
Shortly after that I found out by letter from the state, you can’t let insurance lapse in Florida, even if you don’t operate the vehicle. I also found another company that sells garage/storage policies that provide low cost coverage if a car is stored. This whole experience proved to me that their customer service reps are untrained and don’t understand the insurance laws in the state of Florida, she should have explained that this insurance can’t lapse, and offered me a storage policy. I won’t use them again. I now use an agent who knows what the insurance laws are.

Nothing was updated yet they say the info does not match. The next line said “your vehicle history information has been updated” but does not tell me what they updated and it may have impacted my rate. I did not ask for a modified vehicle rental, as the repair was going to be just for a few day and we didn't have anywhere he needed to go, so I agreed to the standard car rental. When I arrived with my car at the garage, not only was the rental not approved, they then quibbled over the $10/day difference in cost of the rental. I don't care if it was $100/day. It was me who was hit, it was me who was inconvenienced. It was ridiculous. This was not my insurance. It was over an hour of my time at the garage while they quibbled with the rental company.
I was on the phone with my insurance company when an agreement was finally reached. I have never been so poorly treated by a company. This is unacceptable. Now, they want to raise our premium again by 12% from Oct. to Nov. 2023. This is absolutely unacceptable at this point! It's gauging and we have had enough.
So, we aren't talking about increasing monthly premiums a couple of dollars. We're talking about raising rates like $20 or more per month. Moreover, this happens consistently. We got out of Progressive and got something else instead and we're saving a lot of money now. Progressive is horrific with their rate hikes/gauging. What's the point of being "Diamond Customers"? The reason that they had stated was obnoxius saying that they did an assessment of the area and the increase was due to 'rate adjustment'. Can't think of a better way to rip off money from the customers. Now that I want to add another vehicle to my existing policy which expires in Feb. 2024, they are giving me a quote for the whole 6 months although the new vehicle will be used only for 4 months of the policy period.
One of the customer care representatives put me on hold for 20 mins and then just hung up on me even after I clearly explained the math. Lauren ** has never communicated with me once; without me contacting her supervisor first after waiting 10 days for word, and multiple days for her to call me back after I finally reached out to Lauren ** and left a message and sent an email. Then, after the body shop stuff, I still have not heard back from Lauren **, even after going online and finding out that my claim was "closed".
Well, the body shop was unaware and they say the claim shouldn't be closed because Progressive is having them cut the panels off the bed of my truck instead of replacing the whole bed which then creates more damage and, even though Progressive knows it'll create more damage, that the adjuster from Progressive has to come out and preview that damage created before they can proceed with fixing it and that adds to the claim. Well, in September I was rear-ended in a hit-and-run accident which did some major damage to the back end of my car. I called the police immediately. The police eventually came and explained that since I couldn’t get a license plate, there wasn’t a whole lot they could do. I then filed a claim with Progressive. I will start off by saying my agent was cold and militant. When I told him that it was a hit-and-run, I was treated like I was the criminal. I was asked the same questions over and over again. They asked for screenshots of when I called the police. This was all provided to Progressive. Several days later I was interrogated by another representative trying to catch some holes in my story.
The agent tried with several ah-ha! moments asking me if I was involved in previous accidents. I said, no I was not. The rep then claimed she randomly had street camera footage of my car in an accident. I called the city to inquire about this claim. They told me that they do not have unlimited access to city cameras. And even when my accident occurred, I was told there are no cameras on this particular road. The agent lied to me and tried to use intimidation to get me to admit to something that never occurred.
Progressive now wants screenshots from my old email conversations with previous insurances. I don’t save emails from old insurance conversations. Progressive will not cover my claim because it’s a hit-and-run accident and they can’t make money off of someone else’s insurance. Progressive will make a claim as difficult and awful as they can make it for you. I will never ever use Progressive again and will tell my experience anywhere that will allow me to post my story.

I was with Progressive for almost 15 years here in Florida. No accidents, no DUI no nothing. Excellent driver in a State that is famous for bad drivers and crazy insurance prices. Not going to lie, but Progressive has good prices here in FL. The only problem is that they don't care about the customer. I paid 2 days late (my wife lost her job a month back, and we struggled with our finances) and they canceled my insurance. They told me I had to reinstate my insurance (make a brand new one). They were asking for more than 1,000 down.
I tried to talk to them to see if they could take into consideration that I had been with them for almost 15 years (diamond status) with no accidents or tickets. The answer was NO, I have to do a new insurance like I never had any insurance before. There is no loyalty, no matter how long you have been there or how clean your record is. They just care about the money (like any other company) but there are companies that will go above and beyond to keep their customers. At the end of the day, I found another company that took into consideration my driving record and I am paying less and was a lower downpayment. There are more and better companies than progressive, you just have to look around.

I have been with Progressive for the past 25 years, this was a very good company and people aspired to have Progressive, its rates were very affordable and rewarded you with safe driving, and accident-free driving. Lately, it has gone down the drain, I being their loyal customer for so many years have a crown status with accident/wreck forgiveness, etc. I reported an accident last year where someone hit my car from the back on a freeway, on the passenger side corner of the bumper, and sped off. I reported this incident to Progressive. They wanted me to take pictures and videos and send it to them which I did, and they sent a measly $500 check which was not enough to cover the repairs. This was the first incident I reported in 20 years.
A year later they jacked up my premium by $698 by issuing a notice saying that the accident was my fault when I was hit from behind. I called Progressive and they wanted me to speak to the owner of the file Mr. **. He said on his end it does not show as an at-fault accident and he will put in a query. I am just supposed to patiently wait while they investigate the wrongful report and credit me for the extra premium they charged me. I have also heard at least two other complaints from friends where they were a victim of this increased premium fraud. This company is now money-hungry and will go to great lengths to commit fraud for that extra money. They quote you a competitive rate and the next month the premium goes up. WTF.

Recently I was backing out of a parking space very slowly carefully using both my rear view mirror and bluetooth camera. A man jumped into his new expensive shiny black car and backed into me. I contacted the local police reporting that there were three small scratches on his rear bumper but no damage to my car. I was told they would not dispatch an officer since the incident was so minor. I then contacted Progressive and was told not to be concerned about anything. Yet this man bullied me in the parking lot and not only filed a police report but filed a claim with Progressive.
I was pulling out first and he should noticed my rear lights, whereas, this man lied about everything and I was told by a Progressive agent that I was 'at fault' because I failed to notice his red lights. He jumped into his car so fast and pulled out so quickly. I dropped Progressive as my auto insurance because their premiums were so high but located a more reputable auto insurance company which offered me better coverage at a significantly lower rate.

This joke of an insurance company fills you in with low rates then at your first renewal they will jack your rate up over $800 for every 6 mo then tell me they do 6 mo policies so they can do rate adjustments like raising the rate to make you homeless. Cheap companies like this are the reason for people losing their cars and homes or just driving w/o ins.
Progressive is a joke! I have had no accidents, no injuries, no claims. Nothing changed in the 6 mo and now they are raising me up over $1600/yr. Then during the phone call, since my rates doubled, the little pathetic receptionist at Snapchat was being extremely condescending acting like she is so much better than everyone- no you're a receptionist at an ins co, don't flatter yourself too much, but she kept saying how I was sent a cancellation notice of non-payment for a month's payment my bank wouldn't release Progressive the available funds because of the way they were trying to withdraw the funds? Idk that's on the banks. ** this place and look elsewhere. They are horrible!

I've had Progressive for 5 years, never had to file a claim until last month... My husband was driving home on the highway and an 18 wheeler's tire blew. Didn't have time or room to get out of the way and hit the front of our vehicle, ripping off most of the front bumper and pinning it under the frame. As soon as he pulls in the driveway, I hear it and see the damage, grab my phone to file a claim.
Filing was easy, when I called the next day about a mechanic and a tow, I was told all of their in network folks had at least a 1 month delay before they could get the car in. Not great as my husband is an independent contractor and has no sick or vacation time. We had no other options so agreed and was given the name of the shop to contact. I called, first there was confusion on whether the car was drivable or not. I said no, as I've said all along and they told me Progressive said it was drivable. So I call Progressive back to get that straightened out, said it was done and to call back the mechanic. Call the mechanic the next day and am told now can pick up the car Aug 3, (the day before it was Aug 2, so I expected that).
Now it's Aug 2 and I call the mechanic to ask what time they're picking up the car tomorrow, next steps, eta on repair time, etc and they tell me the car is still set to drivable, and they're not taking any undrivable vehicles at this time. Neither of them called me to tell me this sooner so other arrangements could be made. So I just got off the phone with Progressive, was advised that they just contacted 5 other options in our area and no one has availability until the beginning of Sept. Told me to call around and see if I can do better, then call back to set up something with another mechanic through them. I asked if they could get the next option lined up and I'll then call around myself, if I find something, I'll call back and if not, I won't. That apparently isn't an option.
I am just beyond myself right now. I've paid this company over 12,000 over the years and when I need assistance, this is what I get?! I was told when I signed up, I would get a discounted rate gradually over the years. Well, this is the first year my insurance went DOWN in any way and that's only because at renewal this time I was given the option to set up auto pay for a $20 a month discount. I just have no words.... as anyone could imagine. I can't believe I paid for this... I could've just bought another car already for what I've paid them to do nothing all these years.

Our experience with Progressive was fine for 12 years, and then we had to file a claim. Our car was broken into and vandalized. The car was not severely damaged but it was inoperable because something was jammed into the ignition. The claims process was lengthy and stressful, communication was awful, they lied, were rude, and never reached out to me except for an occasional text informing me of yet another delay, all communication was initiated by me or by the dealership.
It took 3 weeks, for a fix that took less than an hour in the service bay. I know you can expect less personalized service from a low-cost carrier, but no price break is worth that many headache. They are a carrier only for drivers who never plan to file a claim, and are just getting insurance because they are not allowed on the road without it.

Will change your policy number every time and they will say it's not them. It's you. And charge you more (no driving violation no accident). They will change policy take out and removed what original policy you have (from old policy number to new policy number). I been dealing with this for 5 years. They have to pay Flor and CEO... Make sure your rear end is lubricated.. Flor and CEO loves KY Jelly.. Rating required? If I can put negative 5 star I would.. and if you see US NEWS, Nerd wallet reviews. They are paid companies.. When I see this site ConsumerAffairs I know this is the place to read reviews. This will be my go to review site.. Thank you ConsumerAffairs...

My claim experience has been the worst I have ever had to deal with. The adjuster, Alex, is so rude, had a huge attitude with me, was completely unprofessional and out of line, speaking to a human being like that, much less someone who you are doing work for. I called to complain, and spent 32 minutes on hold, just to be hung up on. I am now on hold again, with someone else, Joan, who won't listen to anything I am trying to say to her. She has had me on hold more often than not. Much like the other person I spoke with who didn't even give me their name. I've called the agent assigned to my claim, their supervisor, and the claims adjuster supervisor, all to which have not helped me. I was hit by a customer of theirs and this process has been an absolute nightmare. I will NEVER do business with Progressive, and I will be leaving a review everywhere possible.

Progressive is a scam. My daughter purchased a vehicle and got her own insurance. I go to pay my payment and they put almost 3,000 dollars more on my policy saying I have to pay it because she lives with me. This is the biggest scamming company. So I’m supposed to pay insurance on her car that she already has her own insurance on. I don’t recommend anyone getting this insurance. They said I was also being charged because she was in an accident even though she was a passenger in someone else’s vehicle. So how am I responsible for that when my vehicle wasn’t even involved. They also hung up on me 3x, cut me off every time I asked.
My child also has a learning disability and they questioned. Rachelle and Coran were very short and ignorant saying they needed me to send an insurance card in when she has the same insurance company. I wouldn’t recommend this company unless you want to pay for everyone in your house who have their own car who carry their own insurance. This company is a money grab and they are going to try to get on this post lying try to save face. They deserve no stars. This is the worst insurance company. Do your research.

I was involved in an accident that was not my fault. This whole process is a month in and has been a huge hassle. It is so very frustrating that I have to call my rep multiple times and email them multiple times spanning multiple days before I get any kind of response. I feel like I am in the same boat as a month ago where I didn't really know what was going to happen and didn't have much information. I am asking for a document stating that they will be paying off my vehicle loan and I cannot get that. I am supposed to get a check for a car seat reimbursement, I sent the pictures that were requested and reached out to just make sure they were received.
Three days later, I learned they were never received so I sent them again and they were received. Just so frustrating that I am just asking for a simple yes or no to the pictures being received and I pretty much have to blow up her phone. I have reached out to her supervisor, and I am not getting a call back from him either. My life was turned upside down, I have kids and life goes on, but I am stuck in a standstill a month later! This makes me want to cancel my own Progressive insurance and move elsewhere because God forbid I get in an accident again, I would never want to deal with this again!

I did not agree to the 30% increase in renewal and took out new policy online, they would not cancel my "renewed" policy. I emailed many times, tried to chat and get thru their call center. When I did, took 3hrs, 7 agents, finally manager approved at least refund of the policy I had actually wanted. They didn't cancel the "renewed" because it's $150 higher... but then they refunded way less- fraud! You can't cancel, contact them then they issue refund too low incorrect - Refund due was told by manager Anna is 244. Please send. Thanks.

I received an email document from Progressive with the wrong address and wanted it corrected so I made 4 calls so far. The last time I gave up after waiting over an hour on hold. I’m currently on hold for over 30 minutes and still holding. This is beyond frustrating, to the extent that we’re looking into switching car insurance companies. What if we had an accident to report.

I was trying to insure my little car, a small compact chevy and was offered a decent price for 6 months premium. I like to get all the discounts I can get since I am a disabled Veteran and on a set income. Veteran, Homeowner, etc, etc. Then I asked if they had a discount for six mos, paid in full. They told me "of course we do". So I paid the entire premium for the small discount and went my way.
About a week, maybe more, I receive a bill in the mail from Progressive. It's three hundred and some odd dollars!! I called back in to speak to someone, which is a task in itself, took me a few days. They said they changed their minds, they want more money, and a lot more! I said, "You can't do that! Go back on your word, we had a deal." They said, "Oh yes, we can." I wouldn't pay it. They immediately sent it to collections and it hit my credit. An excellent rate I worked on for 20 years, not one ding on my credit report and they tore it all down in one day. It's all wrong. Things are all wrong in this country now. I think zero stars would be the more factual rating.
