Horrible! I can’t say how awful this insurance company is. My car is brand new and less than 10 days old and I get a crack in the windshield from a rock. They will not approve a factory windshield and will only approve an aftermarket windshield stating there are no known safety issues. The difference is more than my deductible! I will be getting new insurance.

I was a customer of Progressive short-lived. I would rate them a minus five if I could. A total rip-off scam... I never had so much crap from a company. I paid them full six months then they sent me a cancellation letter stating I didn't report any drivers, as I am the only sole driver, so they sent me another letter with two of the names I never heard of.

I called them to confirm who and how these names were on my record. They said I must report anyone driving or not to be put down as drivers. I told them my agent never asked me, and I gave them those that were in the house who were not drivers and had to argue they were excluded drivers so they said they would agree, but shortly, I got another text saying I was cancelled again. So again I had to go to the underwriters about it and explain it again that I had paid a premium to add these three non-drivers, and got him to admit that they added the stranger's name as their policy to get me to tell them who lived here otherwise, I would have to dispute these strangers. I call this full-blown blackmail...

Anyways, he assured me it was their mistake, but they had just mailed me the cancellation refund check, and I needed to pay them within ten days or about. I wanted to be sure the check was legit because the web billing only stated a refund but not sent back by check, even though I had paid the initial payment via card... I told him I wanted proof of our conversation because it now was the sixth time I had to deal with the underwriters in a month's time, which my agent said he couldn't do. Poor excuse!!

I told him to write up a reinstatement with no laps, and finally got the company to agree. Then, in this period, they kept threatening me to pay up, and mind you, they said I was paid till May 17, and that was my deadline. And then on the 19th, they said I owed them another sum, or they would report me to the collectors' agency, another blackmail. In the meantime I had sent off to the clue and reporting agency that they claimed got those mystery names, and the report was they could not find me period. Funny that I have carried insurance for 37 years with an excellent driving history. What a joke! So do NOT get yourself involved with this joke of a company... just because they promise you low fee coverage, they're full of every dirty trick you can think of.

You will be very sorry for it.... Go to a legit and pay for the real deal. It's worth every extra penny to have a good insurance company who you can count on. I later learned that Progressive will either dump you when a claim comes up or will rob you three to five times higher the next round... Do yourself a favor and get a real insurance Company like American Family or State Farm.... I lost a lot of money and time and had a lot of frustration dealing with this fraudulent company.... Don't fall for it, it's a horrible insurance Company!!!! I would not recommend them to anyone!!!!!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I was in the car with my 4 year old when we were hit by an off duty police officer who claimed fault immediately. The police were called and their report confirmed the story. However, I had a hard time getting the city he was a police officer for to return my phone calls regarding a claim, so I had to go through my own policy instead. From the get go with Progressive communication was poor, I even called the supervisor multiple times and left voicemails and she couldn’t be bothered to return my phone calls. The rental car situation was a mess and I ended up having to give the car back way before my own car was fixed as I was told I’d have to pay a huge sum out of my own pocket if I kept it longer, making it a nightmare to juggle two jobs and a family with only one vehicle. Eventually my car was fixed after multiple issues along the way, and I was told they would subrogate to get my deductible back.

After months went by without any word I reached back out and was told unhelpfully to just keep waiting. Then I get a letter today stating they can’t get my money back and that I’m basically out of luck. How can you not win a case where a police officer admitted immediate fault? Not only that, this is the second time I have been in an accident when it was not my fault and Progressive has not won my case either time. I will be switching insurance providers and could not be more unsatisfied. Their lack of professionalism and their inability to do their jobs when we pay thousands every year for nothing is unacceptable.

I was recently in a minor traffic accident with no tickets given out. My insurance company, Progressive, clearly used this as the opening to increase my rates. I had just received notification two days prior that my premiums were dropping by $28 a month for safe driving. Then this accident happens, no blame to either party determined by the police. But Progressive determined I was at fault, they just couldn’t pass on the opportunity to increase my premiums. I could tell from the first call, they had already made up their minds, and nothing I told them or information I provided matter. It was clear, they were coming after me for a premium increase.

I’m hearing today by close friends how Progressive has made changes to their insurers, raised their policies 75%. That’s with no issues. How companies stay in business when it’s clear as water, the underhanded crooks will continue to take advantage of any and all their insured drivers. I was looking for cheaper auto insurance, in Elkin,NC. Went with a quote for Progressive, paid in full for 6 months. Nearing the second month they sent an email bill raising it up to over $2800 more, that I now "owed" them. I have 2 26 year old Rav4's, only needing liability, drive less than 5 miles a day to work, never had an accident or a ticket, been driving over 20 years. They said "We are unable to obtain your driving record, so we are assuming you have no experience." Raising my insurance to nearly $600 a month.

I went online to DMV, paid $18 for my driving record, uploaded it to Progressive, waited, nothing from them. Went online to chat with a lady,- "We have not received any documents from you." I uploaded it again, got a response email a few days later saying they received it, that it would take 2 weeks to respond to. I chatted again to a lady, told her I paid for my DMV driving record that they "couldn't find". She says, "You owe us another $299." I told her to cancel it and I owe them nothing else. Of course I get a paper bill today saying pay it or it's going to collections. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Absolutely unbelievable experience dealing with Progressive Insurance after being injured in a multi-vehicle accident caused by their insured driver.
Progressive was fully aware that I was injured. Their adjuster specifically requested my medical bills and documentation in order to evaluate my injury claim and settlement demand. I cooperated fully and provided the requested information, believing my claim was being handled fairly and in good faith.

Instead, Progressive chose to exhaust the entire bodily injury policy limits paying other claimants while allocating absolutely nothing toward my claim — despite already knowing I was an injured party with an active pending demand.

To make matters worse, there was apparently no attempt at an equitable or global settlement among all known injured claimants. I was simply left with nothing after months of communication and documentation. Now I am forced to file complaints with the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Attorney General, and the Better Business Bureau just to get answers regarding how this was handled. Consumers should be extremely cautious when dealing with Progressive on injury claims involving multiple parties. Based on my experience, being cooperative and providing documentation does not necessarily mean your claim will be treated fairly or even considered before policy limits are exhausted. I expected professionalism, transparency, and fair claim handling. I received none of those things.

Progressive doesn't handle claims when they are against them. I had a lady hit my car while I was parked, there was almost $800 of damage to it, and they denied my claim because the old lady that hit it, said she didn't. When you have them for insurance, they raise the rates yearly and when asked why, your only answer is that there were a lot of accidents in the area, so insurance goes up. If none of those accidents were mine why would my insurance go up. Do not recommend at all. Worst experience on both ends.

I am writing this to warn others about Progressive’s 'hook, line, and sinker' tactics. I initially chose Progressive because they offered the best price, but just six months later, my rate jumped by 25% for no reason other than a one-time eSign discount expiring. I attempted to do a 'policy review' with an agent to see how to save money, and it was a complete trap. Even though I provided accurate info showing I’m driving 5,000 FEWER miles per year than they had on file, they used the fact that those miles are for a short 3-mile 'commute' to increase my rate even further.

They literally acknowledged I'm on the road less but tried to charge me more for it. This matches exactly what I’ve seen in countless Better Business Bureau and Reddit complaints: they use deceptive introductory discounts to get you in the door, then hike your rates at renewal while their agents claim they 'don't know' what the new rate will be until it's too late to switch. If you're looking for an honest insurance company that values loyalty, look elsewhere. Progressive is more interested in technicalities and surcharges than actually providing fair coverage.

I parked my car under tree during a rain storm and water got into my car damaging my carpet and ceiling cloth in the car. Progressive denied my water damage claim. They said it looked like it was ongoing and it was not ongoing but because I couldn't show receipts, they denied my claim which I find ridiculous. They denied my claim after I paid my premium and had a covered water damage loss and they came up with a reason not to pay me after they promised to pay once I paid my premium. We had Progressive auto for about 6 months now. When I signed up, I signed a contract for a guaranteed monthly payment for a year. I checked my banking account 3 months later to find they had drafted $10 more than what we had discussed, and I signed on my contract. I gave them a call, and my agent assured me this was out of their control because there was a raise in the cost of insurance, and according to the contract, they can make changes to the policy without notifying me. Alright, no problem. Last week, I checked my bank statement, and the draft amount was $40 more. I was furious. I haven't had any wrecks, tickets, citations, or anything else on my driving record. I called and was informed that something named CLUE informed them I had a licensed driver living at my address who was not on my policy.

Trying to explain to them that I did not know the woman, and it was not legal or fair to add an entire person to my policy without my authorization, and make me pay for them to be on my insurance, they responded with, in the policy, they are allowed to make changes. So, I decided to try to locate the woman on social media, and was successful. I inboxed her with my number and pleaded with her to call me concerning this urgent situation. She finally did, and I was able to have her on the phone with progressive, and she informed them that she did not know me or live in my house, and offered to send them proof of her own insurance, residency, and anything else they needed, but they refused to take anything we offered to prove their informaton was a lie, false, invalid, untrue, and fraudulent. So, I asked them, so if she were to have a wreck, God forbid, I would be responsible for it, and they said yes.

CLUE is a national database(ai) that gives them information about people. I then replied, no matter what I, a human, say, you will still believe a computer over me? This supervisor replied, "Yes." Of course, now I am searching for new insurance. The lady said she is going to try to sue them because in my progressive app, I have all of her personal information since she was now a forced-added driver(by them), which progressive refused to remove. I am also seeking legal counsel in this matter. WARNING! WARNING! PEOPLE, CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS, YOUR PROGRESSIVE STATEMENTS, AND APPS.

I got a updated policy because my old policy during renewal the rates increased so I surfed the web to find out that they were offering a lower rate. Why I didn't receive that in the first place I'll never know. We'll I got the new policy with the discounted rate that excluded my daughter since she had her own coverage. At no time did the representative tell me that I needed to sign a exclusion form. I received a form in the mail asking me to sign the paperwork stating to exclude her. I uploaded the signed document to their company but they said they needed all the paperwork not just the signed copy so they needed to resend me another form by mail again.

I signed it and wrote on the paperwork to exclude my daughter with proof of her insurance so they double billed me and took double payment out of my account today saying I didn't send the information in on time. Mind you I had been in constant conversation with them which should have been logged in. I was complaining about receiving paperwork weekly about the exclusion of my daughter. Now they don't want to take accountability for their error. Now mind I did everything they asked for and what out of all the countless calls did anyone advise me that my daughter was added and I was being charged a additional 700.00 still with them requiring documentation.

My last conversation was on March 25 when I asked underwriting what else could they possibly need then she said it wasn't her department requesting the information. It was customer service. My hybrid battery was exposed to much rain and water damage due to heavy local storms. Unbeknown to me, before buy it had two minor rear end damage. The body shop in the Quad Cities IL and Iowa failed to fix the right quarter panel and attach it correctly, and left a area that as the back tire goes around it throws water into the trunk and then into the Hybrid battery compartment. Where over time it fried the Hybrid battery. I've been in the trunk maybe 3 times in two years, and water never infiltrated the cabin of the car.

I filed on March 6, 2026 and got the answer at 5pm on March 27. Kristal my only help through all of this had a tough job telling me yesterday. They charge about $1500 a year for insurance for someone who hasn’t had an accident in 10 years. My $1500 a year policy somehow doesn’t include rental reimbursement. The deductible for glass is $1,000 which is a scam as a whole front windshield replacement is less than $900 for my car. I could pay $1000 a year and get better coverage that will actually pay to fix my car.

I have been a customer of Progressive for a number of years now (5 Plus). We have two automobiles, an RV, and Renters insurance through them. We have never had a claim up until recently when vandals broke out the back window of my pick up truck. I live in Seattle area where it has been monsoon raining for weeks and I have a huge whole in my window I am trying to get replaced. It has been almost a week since the claim and I can't even get as much as a return call or email from the glass claims adjuster to verify if they will cover or not.

I pay thousands of dollars every year to them, the least they could do is answer and return a call or email. The one agent I did speak with told me it normally takes twenty four to forty eight hours to review to come up with an answer. Their time must be different than others' twenty four to forty eight hours? It has been a week. I can pay for the window myself, that is not the problem, but knowing my deductible is $500 and the window will cost $1200 to replace, in Western Washington where fuel and grocery pricing is sky high, that $700 will go a long ways right now and I can't even get a response? But make sure you get your premium payment in on time with no grace period, otherwise they cancel you on the spot. To be honest, it has been a joke and I am willing to pay another insurance company more money for better customer service and to actually get a response from a vendor I pay good money to, to be treated with silence.

Progressive is an extremely irresponsible insurance company. I've been in three accidents in last 6 years, all of which were the other party's fault. The first time, after Progressive took my case, they did almost nothing to help me. I had to handle all communication with the other party's insurance company myself. In the end, the other party covered my repair costs and rental car expenses. The second time, Progressive assured me they would actively help. I gave them all my repair and rental car receipts, but they only managed to recover the repair costs--they didn't even try to get the rental car fees covered. Their excuse? I didn't have rental car coverage. Seriously? It was the other party's fault, so the costs should have been covered by the other party's insurance.

The third time, which happened recently, was even worse. Again, the other party was at fault, but this time Progressive told me I had to pay the deductible myself, claiming the other party's insurance refused to accept liability. How absurd is that? I had zero fault in the accident, yet I was expected to pay part of the repair costs. I agree with the other victims. If there were a zero score option, I'd definitely choose it. So, if you don't want to deal with any trouble in future accidents, please stay away from Progressive. They are neither professional nor responsible. Finally, I hope that no matter which insurance company you choose, you always stay safe on the road.

I was a Progressive auto insurance customer in NYS for eight years. I couldn't bundle my auto and home because my home was a farm with acreage so had to insure my land with a local agency. After eight years, I had an accident in the on street parking in front of my daughter's house in Pennsylvania. In order to avoid paying accident forgiveness, Progressive changed my home address to my daughter's townhouse in PA that she purchased during COVID so that I would have a place to stay with my pets when I visited.

As I was a NY resident with NY drivers license, I had to have my daughter insure the vehicle until I moved to PA a year later, and obtained a PA drivers license in September of that year. This negligence has caused me innumerable issues with credit reporting, NY tax, etc. Progressive customer service gave multiple excuses for doing this, ending with its "internal policy" to change a customer's state of residence without documentation when mail is returned by the post office.

I reached out two days before my due date in an effort to be proactive and keep my policy in good standing. Unfortunately, I was told that an extension could not be granted because of a $10 late fee that I was not aware of. While the representative was polite, the policy itself left no flexibility for a loyal customer trying to handle a temporary hardship responsibly.

As a longtime educator, I believe companies should show understanding when customers communicate early and make a good faith effort to stay current. Situations like this can happen to anyone, especially during difficult financial periods. Because I believe companies should be accountable to their customers, I have also shared my experience on X (Twitter) and Instagram so others can understand how Progressive handles hardship requests from loyal customers, including teachers. I hope Progressive will reconsider how situations like this are handled and create more flexibility for customers who are trying to do the right thing.

I was told a check to pay off my Nissan Rogue loan with Mountain America Credit Union was sent on 02/02. When my loan was still showing open, I reached out on 02/16 at 5:30 p.m. for an update. After still seeing no resolution, I had to contact them again on 02/23 at 5:20 p.m., where I was told a second check had to be issued because the first one never made it to the bank.

In the meantime, my rental coverage ended around 02/02 and I was forced to return the vehicle. I had to pay out of pocket to extend the rental for two more days, but continuing to pay $40/day wasn’t realistic. I had no choice but to purchase another vehicle so I could continue working and taking care of my family. Now I’m stuck with two car payments because the Nissan loan still hasn’t been paid, the loan has gone delinquent, and I’ve been charged a late fee. As of 03/05 this still isn’t resolved. This delay has created unnecessary financial stress and has begun affecting my credit. I’m sharing this experience publicly because I hope Progressive will step in, resolve the issue, and ensure other customers don’t have to go through the same situation.

When the time came to honor my claim on my SUV after Firestone had sabotaged it, they sent a lady who was not interested in actually lifting the car up to look at the damage underneath and just claimed it was regular wear and tear. A knock-off company from Atlanta. The RV was cancelled on 6/30/25. Progressive felt entitled to continue to draw the money for the insurance of the RV for two more months. I had provided proof that it was no longer registered and in storage. Once they finally stopped they sent a bill my way for another $90 for anyone's guest talking to several progressive employees. Everyone had a different explanation or lack thereof.

Then I was told that I had received "Points" for insuring a new SUV that I had bought. If that is true? Who knows! I never received anything in writing. That caused me to cancel all my insurances with Progressive. I of course told them that instead they owe me money for the two extra months they took out money. The issue is still unresolved... Progressive does not deserve a single star! If you really want to be insured and have your damages covered, don't use Progressive. As I found out, now that I have a complaint against them, they are not even BBB accredited. So no the money is not going to be in the checking account if I have to call to have you take the initial down payment.

So what should have happened was.. You take the initial down payment right away off the debit card and then the following months payment should be available for autopay... and why was this not explained in the first place? Why is only NY that has a extremely strict policies regarding the payment as long as it's paid on time? And why didn't the agent who did take the down payment off my debit card not stop me from making the payment if it was indeed supposed to be only autopay?

Rather than evaluate evidence or act in good faith, they appear to approach claims with the goal of denial from the start. Proof, documentation, and supporting records are irrelevant — they are not requested, reviewed, or meaningfully considered. Instead, the process feels predetermined, with every detail selectively interpreted to justify a denial. Premiums are collected without issue, but when coverage is needed, the company prioritizes protecting itself over honoring its policy. This experience was not only frustrating, but deeply troubling. Consumers should understand the risk before trusting this company in a moment of crisis.

Progressive is good until you're in a accident that isn't your fault. I was hit by a DUI driver and my car was a total loss. Progressive did pay most of my car off but as far as uninsured /underinsured payout we didn't get anything even though I had the coverage on my policy. Progressive fails to tell you when youre signing for insurance their reservation of rights disclaimers that say what they will and will not pay on your policy. They send that info to you months later after the fact. It will be a year from the date of my accident in a week and I've yet to see any kind of payout for uninsured underinsured coverage or bodily injury that I had on my policy.

I haven't heard from the insurance rep.or received a letter explaining why I haven't not received any sort of compensation..I was under the impression that car insurance was supposed to cover you when accidents happen. I paid a lot for insurance that didn't do much for me when I needed it. I've never dealt with insurance companies like this. I will never use Progressive for my auto insurance again. I think I'm gonna go with a more reputable and reliable insurance like State Farm or AAA.

Says that because the seats were empty and the doors next to them had no damage the seats are not damaged. Car seats manufacturer says otherwise. Not replacing them does not restore the vehicle and the safety equipment to pre-loss condition. They never came out in person to assess the damage only gave me an estimate based off the pictures and video they had me upload. The estimate they gave me is VERY low.

My experience with Progressive Insurance was exhausting. I was initially told photos were enough for my missing property claim, then repeatedly asked for more—receipts and a police report revised four times at their request. After months of delays, my claim was denied for “lack of evidence,” even though I provided everything they asked for. This process felt like a deliberate delay-and-deny tactic. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

So, I recently cancelled the insurance on my pick-up truck because I sold it. This left me with one vehicle on the policy. At this point, my insurance increased because I was no longer entitled to the two vehicles discount. So, now I'm insuring less for more cost. The Progressive agent (aka not very intelligent person) suggested I buy another vehicle to get the discount. In practical terms that is so incredibly inept to suggest that. I have a better idea. What about suggesting finding another insurer that better fits my needs for being more cost effective. Or if that is not allowed then just don't make absurd suggestions.

I have no intention of renewing my policy, any policy with your company. September 16, 2025, was a dark day for me. My car was vandalized, broken into, and quite frankly your company was little to no help. I was fighting this battle alone, as far as I'm concerned. I called back in July 2025 to make sure I had towing and rental car. I don't recall the entire conversation, but I know I was put at ease with conversation knowing I had those things. I spent 13 weeks paying $245 a week for a rental car.

Or maybe the costs for Lyft and Uber twice a day for over a month because I have to go to work? Are you going to reimburse me? I doubt it. Then I had the $2000 deductible that I could afford to pay and my car is still with the company (whom by the way, was far more accommodating and understanding than you) and because my finances were torn apart, so I couldn't afford to make payments on my car because I had to have to have transportation. So my car is in repossession.

And as for the adjuster you assigned me? Talked to him once, texted twice. Never received a phone call asking "how are things?" Nothing! I am in financial ruin right now with no transportation, about to lose my apartment and no money, all because people wanted to destroy someone else's life and Progressive was not helpful, gave me no peace of mind for the hard-earned money to paid to you. I could die right now.

We had Progressive for our auto insurance policy. I kept hearing that we were paying too much. I called them to check to see if our rate should be lower and they came back to the phone with monthly payment rates that were actually higher than what we were paying. In October we were approached by a State Farm Representative who offered us a policy $300 cheaper for the exact same coverage. We decided to go with them beginning 01/02/2026.

In the beginning of December I called to cancel our policy with Progressive effective 01/02/2026, I paid a $2.75 fee for cancellation and told I might receive a bill in January that I should ignore because we were paid in full. I received a bill in January that I ignored. Yesterday I received that bill again for $20.59 that threatened to go to a collection agency if not paid immediately. I called and after 30 minutes on the phone I was told I owed that money and unfortunately their employee told me wrong. Reluctantly I paid the bill but I told them I would not be a customer of theirs again and I won’t be recommending them to anyone I know. Stay away from Progressive Automobile Insurance! Today I switched insurance companies. And I called Progressive to cancel my insurance policy. I spoke with an agent Marlo an informed her that I needed to cancel my policy effective today as I had better auto insurance. She was great at helping me. Cancel the policy and then proceeded to tell me on the day that my policy it was due for renewal. For payment and because I canceled it on today before the end of the day, they proceeded to penalize me and charge me for 1 more day service that I didn't have.

Normally when you call a business and say I am canceling my contract with you and you weren't late on your payment and you cancel it on the day that it's meant to be renewed. There should be no further charges. However, progressive's unfair and unknown billing practices to me left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It makes about as much sense to pay for another day's service on the day that you cancel service with that company As it does for somebody to go swimming in a river full of piranhas that they didn't know. Were in the river and then they get attacked. Because there was no sign up saying warning. Don't swim here. There are piranhas here. I get the same feeling with this company. And their unfair building practices today. I know that business is.

Have you had people that read reviews in? Delete the review. So they don't get bad reviews. However, what they can't delete is the sharing of word-of-mouth with family and friends. And business associates, it used to be the best way to promote a business. It was by word of mouth. Their, their prices are very high, and their cancelation. Practices are very shady. I should not have had to pay anything for canceling my policy today. On the day that the payment was due Because I canceled it on the day It was due. I will not be doing business with progressive. Insurance again, if I could leave them 5 negative five stars, I would.

Extremely disappointing experience with Progressive, specifically around billing transparency and customer service. My monthly auto insurance payment suddenly increased from about $137 to over $320 with no clear notice, no itemized explanation in the app, and no warning emails or letters explaining the increase. When I checked my account before the due date, there were no visible charges showing why this amount would be owed. I had a returned payment in November that was corrected within two days, and a return fee was charged the same day. When I paid the bill shown in the app the following day, no additional balance or fees were displayed. Weeks later, those charges were apparently bundled into a future bill without transparency.

When I contacted customer service to calmly ask for an explanation and possible help, the representative was dismissive, talked over me, and repeatedly stated that nothing could be done. There was no grace, no effort to work with me, and no empathy, despite the lack of clear notice. The only communications I received were about returning a Snapshot device to avoid an additional fee — not about a major billing increase. The app did not clearly reflect what was owed, and customer service refused to acknowledge that confusion.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I am a first responder who serves my community, pays responsibly, and reached out in good faith for clarification and assistance. I did not feel supported or respected as a customer. Insurance companies should provide clear billing, transparent communication, and reasonable customer support — especially when issues arise. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Northwood Insurance Agency out of Northborough MA said we had to go through the hit and run drivers insurance. We are saying our insurance company (Progressive) should have paid and then went after the hit and run driver, who now was charged with criminal charges. His insurance company said they would pay 75%. We said no. Now it had been months. We struggled with Northwood and Progressive for months. Now 9 months later Progressive finally said we can go through them. We had to take pictures and video of vehicle several times and email it to them. They won’t even send an adjuster out as they are an online company.

We got an estimate from a Ford Dealership for $1,640.00. Progressive sent $535.00. This is a third of what the other persons insurance company was going to pay. That is sad when someone else’s insurance company will pay more than your own. This is insult to injury as we were almost killed, we had a hit and run and now they won't even pay enough for us to fix the vehicle. Now we have to file a 93A Bad Faith Claim against Progressive. We are fighting for triple damages & attorney fees. We sold the truck and are switching insurance companies and agencies. HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!! Progressive and USAA. Our new insurance agency gets you the best rates but also looks out for you and would never let one of the insurance companies do this. Good commercials but they are still crooks at the end of the day. I also I canceled my policy with them that day and they only refunded me $50.00 bucks. The bigger issue was my girlfriend already had her own car insurance and didn't need coverage from progressive for a vehicle she didn't drive. With that being said, Progressive car insurance uses a third party to look up people's driving history that live in your home to force them to get added to your policy only to increase your premium.

The driver of the e-bike was charged for the accident due to not yielding to traffic at an open entrance into a community. The damaged was substantial enough to file a claim for repairs. First issue: Once the claim was filed; Progressive tried to place partial blame on my wife even though the e-bike driver was charged with the accident. Second issue: My wife is a school teacher, we had to wait for a holiday break to put the vehicle in the shop. We waited approximately thirty days before we could leave the vehicle for repairs.

When time was available to leave vehicle for repairs, Progressive had cancelled the claim for repairs. Which Progressive had stated we had one year to have the vehicle repaired. That was not the case, it was cancelled before thirty days after the initial claim was processed. It was it was scheduled for repair on November 24, 2025. Third issue: The dashboard of our vehicle was cracked from the accident. Progressive refused to repair stating it could not have been caused by the accident, but it appeared at the time of the accident and not before or later. Progressive’s poor customer service had made filing a claim a nightmare to say the least and not as portrayed in their commercials.

Updated on 12/06/2025: I find it extremely suspicious that my dad policy for 1837.00 for the same coverage was cancelled for failure to provide proof of address, where he live in that apartment since 1984 and it's on his Driver's license. They then cancelled his insurance 11/26. Another agent then rewrote the same policy without proof of address on the phone but now charged 2754.00 on 12/6/05/. My dad was without insurance for 11 days and knew the day before. Why is it that Progressive didn't need proof of address to rewrite anew the policy? They charged a 79 year old man $2754.00. That's a 917.00 difference for the same policy but instead charged him more. This is what you do to the elderly? Charge them!

Why did they not need proof of address to rewrite the new policy? Just to get more money, I tried to get someone to help but no one wanted to help; so they scared my dad and charged him even more just because he was scared and willing to pay for insurance for his 2008 Toyota, just liability insurance. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, I already listed the complaint with Consumer Affairs. My dad just wants his insurance coverage and he paid whatever the agent asked for. As a company, Progressive should have done the right thing and reinstate his policy for the amount of 1837. This is wrong. I am hoping this is not what they do to seniors. I wrote to them, no response yet.

Original Review: My father is 79 years old, he started his policy 10/03/25 with Progressive paid his premium and thought that was done. They sent him a letter saying they needed proof of address and wanted to see utility bills. He called me. I explained how to take a pic of it. He lives in NY, I live in FL. He sent it to me, I called and spoke to them, emailed and uploaded the utility bills 11/17. I even paid the entire policy off. I called to see if they received it. They said it takes a while to review.

They sent back an email a week later to put it in a jpeg. I did 11/30, the same day and they cancelled it on 11/26/25. We spoke to Brian ID # ** if that's even correct, since he refused to give his last name. He didn't care about my dad in NY and I am in FL trying to help him, he can see in the notes I was emailing all along. I told him my dad he lived at that address since 1984, it's on his driver's license. He refused. My dad called before and they are just trying to sell him insurance at a higher rate, rather than reinstate his policy. Their strong arm tactics on the elderly are disgusting, they are rude and unempatic, not one of them tried to help in any way.

Multiple claim representatives involved, poor communication, and lack of effective communication skills. The company would do well to have employees do communication workshops to provide better service to customers. Awful experience paired with stress of someone ruining the front of my vehicle.

Called Geico back and they got a quote of 2800/same vehicles and better coverage. I was not going to write this review until I found out how much refund I will get which is another ripoff, I would only get back 3598 back. That's 40 days of coverage, really? Very bad customer service! Woke up this morning to a $264.63 charge to my bank account and found out they charged a premium without my consent because my son is over 18 in my household. He has his own insurance policy with a different company. They still added him to my policy. They sent me a form to exclude him which I signed and faxed. They dropped him from my insurance but said I couldn't get a refund difference because they already took my money. They told me in the state of Texas they automatically add anyone in the household to your policy over the age of 18 no matter what you want. You have to sign paperwork to exclude.

They sent a letter in the mail and it was lost. I had to get forms in my email sent to fax. I've been with this company a long time and never got treated the way they treated me with this situation. The customer service was very rude and not understanding due to the fact I'm on disability due a life threatening disorder I have. I explained to them the situation I'm in and they acted like they don't care how much it affected my situation during the holidays. Do not get with this company if you want good customer service that helps you out and that's understanding.

I have always paid on time, and driven responsibly. I had no problems with them until I moved to the Atlanta Metropolitan area where I commute to work every day. I called yesterday seeing if I could dispute the outcome, and I was told no. I could only dispute if my claims were put in by error. There was no fraud on my side.

My vehicle had been hit in traffic twice commuting to and from work. The third and oldest claim was never assigned fault due to it being my word against the other driver's word. I realize it is all business and that no private company owes me anything, but it still felt horrible enough that makes me never want to do business with progressive ever again if this is how they treat lifelong customers. I give the company 0 stars. It does not even deserve 1 star, but that is the only option I have presently.

I don't kosb my car out and they said they were living with me,,, that's untrue, so because of this supposed accident they delete my comprehensive and change it to something that says if I get into an accident I have to use aftermarket parts or pay for it myself, they also charged me for the comprehensive and did not offer a refund.

Then on 10/12/2025 they canceled my policy, no contact with me but the policy is still there., So that's rescinded on 09/11/2025 and canceled 10/12/2025 then on 11/05/2025, they put a document saying non renewal of policy because I or a person on my policy threatened a Progressive employee, it didn't happen. I called about other insurance and they said, "We cannot insure you at this time." What did they put on my background to have an insurance company say, "We cannot insure you at this time," they put something on there.

This is all fraud, untrue accusations that has put me in a bind, they denied my claim to by the way, is this normal practice, if say not, I'd say they're responsible for fraud on a policy and trying to harm the policy holder,, and denying a claim. See how bad they didn't want to pay off,, I'd say you're talking about a million dollar suit if you ask me, I'm open to offers but it's gonna have to be a good one. Unfortunately, we were forced to file a uninsured/underinsured motorist claim with Progressive (our insurance company). Thank goodness we'd bought that coverage. Progressive jumped on it and moved quickly.

I give huge credit to Jay. They sent us a claim link which we completed. They came and towed our car to their shop and inspected it. It ended up being totaled. They made us a good, solid, fair offer that we were pleased and grateful for (no big fight for fairness was required). We were able to use that money to get ourselves into another car. This was one of the best, if not the best, insurance claim experiences we've ever had. A sincere Thank you, to Progressive and another specifically to Jay.

The other insurance Dairyland wasn’t trying to do anything either, I have an attorney, a lawyer and a paralegal on my legal team and even with them they still refused to do anything. I had to end up paying for my rental car out of pocket. Shortly after my car was totaled progressive raised my insurance rates from $130.00 to $450.00 without any explanation or anything.

My adjuster Javier ** was really great at first. He was so helpful and walked me through everything but after getting legal help, he started acting like a jerk about everything, when my car was totaled out he literally told me, “If your vehicle's repairs cost under $10k we’re gonna get it fixed rather I liked it or not.” I already knew my car was a total loss because it was smelt like something was burning when driving it not to mention the bottom frame was bent and the whole trunk of the car was smashed in, they didn’t care I was still driving it for over 2 months after the accident and it was completely dangerous for myself. I needed a car working as a hospice nurse and I explained all of this to them but they only want your money not any of your accident problems or anything other than what you can do for them.

I have spoken with the supervisor Krystle who approved me to get the rental car but for some reason Javier gets a hard on by keeping your benefits away from you. They pressured me with unrealistic timelines, backtracked on prior statements, and created unnecessary confusion that always seemed to work in their favor. I took this insurance out in good faith thinking that all I needed was to make on time payments. As it turned out I was mistaken. For a month into the policy I was told that I had to supply pictures of all "4" sides of my car along with a picture of my registration, etc. This on a minimum liability policy with nothing else added. And if I didn't follow what they demanded then my insurance would be cancelled. When I complained my complaint went for naught.

I was told that I was randomly chosen which left me with “2” choices, either accept or leave. They can say anything they want. I on the other hand see it as an example of being profiled along with being subjected to the heavy-handed tactics by a company who has little concern for their insured. Here they had a driver with a good driving record, no accidents, tickets, DWIs, nothing but a clean driving record who pays their bill on time. My reply besides writing this review was to leave. I called Progressive in the middle of April to open up an SR-22 policy on a new vehicle that I purchased. After a long time on the phone we got the policy. I paid the money, a lot of money and continued on with getting my driver's license and moving forward with life. As I applied for my driver's license several times it kept kicking back and I kept losing out on the money that it cost to apply for a driver's license. I would get the paper copy. They would say everything was okay and then I would never get the plastic copy in the mail. The paper copy would expire and I wouldn't have a driver's license again. Upon calling over and over and over again I've requested that policy first conversation because I did let them know that I had an SR22 and later on in the months found out that she did not put the SR-22 on there and upon paying 269 for regular insurance I had to tack on an additional 400 to that to pay for the extra policy cost.

I've requested to hear the conversation over and over and over again. Your customer service representatives have sent me the wrong conversation. They've put me off. They've hung up on me. They've told me that if I didn't tell them that I would be calm and collected that they wouldn't transfer me. I am very very upset with this company. I think it's crap. You guys have a lot of money. You can afford to put people in there that know what they're talking about and what they're doing but instead you put children in there who don't know how important it is to keep an SR22 on somebody's driver's license when they're purchasing a vehicle. When it comes time for them to process your claim, they will do everything in their power to NOT give you the money you are due. They will drag their feet processing your claim, purposely having your storage bill grow exponentially, then they will low ball you on the value of your vehicle, so they can claim that your vehicle is a total loss. I was rear-ended and the at-fault driver was insured with Progressive. Since then, Progressive has mishandled my diminished value claim at every step. Representatives gave me false and misleading information, including telling me I had to file my diminished value claim through my own insurer (GEICO) and even incorrectly stating that “diminished value is the same as subrogation.” One representative laughed at me when I asked questions, which was unprofessional and unacceptable. I specifically requested that my complaint about their representatives be documented in the claim file, but I have no confirmation that it was ever logged.

I faxed Progressive my diminished value demand letter with confirmation of delivery, yet I was transferred to an adjuster who was said to be “available” but gave me no response. Since then, my follow-up texts and emails to both the adjuster and the supervisor have gone unanswered. This behavior reflects a pattern of misrepresentation, avoidance, and lack of accountability. Consumers deserve an insurer that handles claims fairly and honestly. Based on my experience, Progressive has failed to meet that standard.

They have since asked me to provide proof of garaging in which after 3 phone calls I finally got told that the title of my vehicle would be accepted as proper proof of garaging despite the fact they clearly stated before that they were just looking for a mailing address as to where the car would be parked. I live in an apartment complex so my mailing address is where my garaging address would be. I have sent them previous my lease agreement a change of address letter from USPS which is a federal based document and the registration from the TXDOT.

I am extremely annoyed as I travel a fair bit to and from work in a state that requires insurance. I had paid for insurance August 15th 2025 and should've had till September 15th 2025 for them to cancel. Instead they prematurely canceled September 5th 2025. When I called to question the cancelation notice they constantly ran me through loops and hoops of their BS and lies of "approved" documents. They are now claiming that I owe them money for the entire fiasco after I paid for a month of which they cut short by ten days.

I have been with Progressive auto since 2016. They rewrote my policy in 2021. We have never had an accident or tickets and yet every year the price went up. I believe the straw that broke the camel's back with me was when my husband financed a car and they upped the price of insurance to more than the amount we were paying monthly for the car and this was with a 1000.00 deductible. I began to shop around and found that better coverage with 500.00 deductible at another company was significantly lower. I refused to renew my policy with progressive. Was beyond happy to get away from them and kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

I definitely do not recommend. They have no perks or bonuses that reward loyal customers. They line their pockets without hard earned money and offer next to no coverage. Very disappointed I wasted so many years with them. But so ecstatic to be away from them now rather than finding out another 10 years down the road.

I received notice in 2023 that they were cancelling my insurance stating my 2nd car (still located in and registered in Kentucky) was located in Florida. I explained that to my agent, and was told it was solved. In 2025, I received my invoice for 2025/2026, paid it in full, then 3 months later, received another notice of cancellation for the same reason. I called Progressive myself, explained the situation and thought it was handled....the next thing I know I get notice, and a bill, that they added my 86 year old Mother (who had no keys, can't drive a stick shift, and had her own full coverage insurance) to my policy and increased my bill from $437 (already paid in full through 2026) to $1100 for liability only!

My vehicle was damaged during the massive flooding in Houston. We took it to a trusted shop, where both the owner and a mechanic assessed clear signs of water damage and advised us to file a claim.

From the start, the claims adjuster was rude and unprofessional. Her tone made the process unnecessarily stressful. Then a field adjuster visited the shop and was outright disrespectful, belittling the staff to the point that the shop owner refused to let him return. He later told us he was a “master mechanic” and had been a field adjuster for 15 years—before bluntly denying our claim.

We reached out to our insurance agent, Natalie at Estrella Insurance, who was kind and helpful throughout. Eventually, a supervisor acknowledged the field adjuster was “a little rough around the edges” and sent someone else. Unfortunately, the second adjuster barely asked any questions and quickly left. Despite the shop’s initial assessment and repeated explanations, Progressive still denied the claim. I’ve since canceled my policy and taken my business elsewhere. This experience was a complete letdown and not what I expected after years of loyalty.

I am 49 years old and they are charging me $300 for car insurance. My coworker pay $89 for the same insurance. When asked what they used to determine this rate, they make up lies to scam me out of more money. First they said it depends on the make and model of your car, then they said it depends on the person. I do not recommend any Michigan car insurance company. They do not disclose the reasons why they charge you abnormally high rates, most of it is based on discriminatory practices, and that is why they do not tell you. More ** people get racially profiled and pulled over making our insurance rates higher. The car payments are already high and then the insurance cost half of the car payment. I do not want to hear anything about risk factors, because there would be no need for car insurance, if there were no accidents. You do not get to keep 100% of the profit because you do not want people to file claims.

I have never dealt with a more incompetent, unprofessional company in my life. My husband had an accident with an uninsured driver with no headlights on a dark street. Thankfully, we have coverage for uninsured motorist. It has been 30 days since the accident, we have talked to the claim adjuster once. We have no idea what is going on. We call every day, hoping he will answer. We talked to his supervisor and he just defends him and says he is busy. This is so crazy. 30 days!!!! This should be done by now. Our car is totaled but we are still making payments. We can't even get approved for a rental car because we can't get ahold of our claims adjuster JAMES **. Don't use Progressive for anything!!!!! They are Horrible!!!

I’ve been trying to add a driver for over a week and they’re saying they can’t do it because of technical difficulties but they are able to still tack on hidden fees all made me add additional drivers that don’t even drive my car. They are in the home so they had to be listed as drivers which made my insurance go up. This company is a complete joke.

She is unprofessional, doesn't communicate and truly do not care about you or more importantly her company. She has caused me so much stress and anxiety during the ordeal with my car being totaled that it's causing me sleepless nights and panic attacks. If you ever have LISA ** as a point of contact, please request another agent as you will receive zero communication until it benefits her. I have never thought of suing a company before, until now.

Stay away. Absolutely the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with in my life. Had full coverage insurance on one vehicle. I got ran off the road or ran into a curb. I voided contact with the car and they put me a fault because there was no contact with the car. They said I should have hit the car and let the car hit me and then they covered my vehicle but gave me way less than the value. Second problem next car I got hit a deer. Again full coverage comprehension collision everything two days short of a month to get a claim approved. Said I was being investigated for fraud when the deer here was still in my headlight. Ridiculous. Stay away at all costs. If I could give them one zero stars I can give them zero. Stay away from Progressive Auto insurance and if they're this bad with auto insurance I would I would hate to see what they are more home insurance. Stay away.

I wish -0 stars was an option because Progressive's Underwriting team members are liars and thieves, they're notorious for acting clueless, accusing & reporting inaccurate information that'll ruin your credit. They add random people to your policy WITHOUT CONSENT. They'll price gouge your policy even if YOU'VE NEVER FILED A CLAIM & don't bother to ask why, as they'll give you a bs excuse that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you. There are MANY complaints filed on BBB regarding Progressive's bad business practices. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND Progressive Auto Insurance. These auto insurance companies need to be BANNED from doing whatever they deem necessary to consumers.

Progressive has been steadily increasing my auto premium over the past 5 years. I've continued to pay the bi-annual increases without complaint. I've never filed a single claim with them over the past 5 years. This month, due to fraudulent activities, I canceled one of my credit cards. I did not realize that this was the credit card I had on file with them. When the autopay failed, they immediately added a $30 surcharge to my bill and downgraded my rating, even though I made the payment the very next day when I received the alert. I was upset and shopped around for a new policy. Today, I canceled my 5-year auto and home insurance with Progressive. I saved a whopping 65% with my new auto policy and 17% with my new home insurance policy. I voted with my dollar, and they lost another customer. I highly recommend not sitting back and simply accepting their annual premium increases. Shop around for better rates.

Had been with Progressive for several years and had no complaints. Then a few years ago, my rates doubled. No tickets, no claims. Then following policy renewal, it increased again. It was becoming unaffordable. Earlier this week, my daughter got her license and when I added her to the policy, my jaw hit the floor. I literally cannot afford it anymore. Last year, my son had an accident. No citations given. No police report. And MY insurance company denied my son 100% at fault, which was impossible if you know what happened. Extremely poorly, average, unprofessionally handled. I switched carriers today, and even with my newly licensed daughter on the policy am paying less than half of what Progressive was charging me before she was covered. Good riddance, Progressive.

I currently have Progressive but will change as soon as my claim is over. I got into a Car accident on June 29, 2025, and submitted my claim on the Progressive app on June 30, 2025. They assign me a claim representative, her name is Ginette **. I was not contacted at all. I, myself had to give them a call multiple times, in which they never answered. I then submitted a message on the app providing additional information and told the representative to call me. I still did not receive any contact from my claim representative nor the company for multiple days. I continue to call and finally my claim representative answers. I ask about the status of my car and where are we at in the process. Ginette states that they are still waiting for the police report, but fails to tell me that they never requested the police report. I call the county office myself and retrieve the police report and upload it on the app.

I call Ginette back the following day to see if she received the police report and to check on the status. She received the police report but stated it takes 48 hours to review the report and there is nothing myself or the company can do at the moment. I patiently wait 4 days just to give them extra time. Ginette calls me on the 5th day and proceeds to ask all the same questions that i already answered when i submitted my claim. She asked all the questions that should've been asked within 48 hours of me submitting my claim. She was constantly trying to push for my vehicle to be totaled without properly assessing the actual repairs and the potential cost.

It has been 16 days since my accident, and there has been zero progress moving forward with my claim. This has been absolutely piss poor service since the day I submitted the claim. As stated earlier, I am removing Progressive as my insurance immediately after this claim is finally resolved. The service is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

I recently switched my auto insurance to get a better deal. I was in touch with Progressive a week prior to let them know what I was doing. I made it clear that I wanted to avoid any extra fees, as I was in no hurry to switch. I was assured when I switched (2 days prior to my automatic payment) there would be no charge to my credit card.

Imagine my surprise when I found out they did charge my card. They gave me a partial refund of $85, but was charged $112.00. I was told I was charged because they didn't process the paperwork until 10 days after termination. (Making any sense to anyone?) Moral to the story... always, and I mean I always remove your card from automatic payment!! This was nothing more than a money grab, plain and simple. People switching insurance all the time to get a better deal... It's a common practice. Let me be clear... I will never... And I mean never do business with Progressive Insurance ever again! I would pay more elsewhere before doing business with these people again. I hope I can save somebody else the trouble and headaches that we went through with this review.

We both were obeying the speed laws when the Progressive HIT/RUN (UBER EATS) driver crashed into our now totaled cars. Progressive is a total sham and scam. I have also filed a complaint with the California Insurance Commission and will now seek legal counsel. My insurance company has paid off my vehicle and medical expenses. As for Progressive, I am not holding my breath. I have uploaded my Totaled Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. 1 Star – Snapshot is a Ripoff, and Progressive Knows It. I had one of the worst insurance experiences ever with Progressive’s Snapshot program. I was out of the country for 4 weeks and not driving, so naturally, my phone wasn’t sharing location data. Despite that, Progressive decided to charge me extra — apparently as a penalty for not sharing my location while I wasn’t even in the U.S.! To make things worse, they never sent me a bill or any kind of notice. I found out about the charge 4 months after canceling my policy. Talk about shady business practices.

Here’s the kicker: I called their customer service, and even the representative acknowledged that this charge shouldn't be there and that it should be removed. But since my policy is already canceled, she said there’s nothing they can do — I still have to pay it. Unbelievable. This Snapshot program is misleading and borderline predatory. It punishes you for things that make zero sense, and Progressive hides behind technicalities instead of doing the right thing. They’ve lost my trust and my business. Avoid Progressive and their Snapshot trap at all costs.

Tried to get a quote online. Was much lower than my current insurance, so I saved the quote and the next day cancelled my current insurance. When I went to buy the quote, right before the payment step, they suddenly do this history check through a third party and my premium went up $400 for a couple roadside assistance claims that they categorized as "not at fault accidents". WTF?! They leave that part until right before you pay to try and suck you in with a false premium. I will never buy from a company that uses underhanded methods like this.

06/21/25, I filed an auto claim with Progressive after a tornado dropped a building on my car. The soonest they told me they could get an adjuster out to look at the car was the 11th of July. Three weeks. My boyfriend's insurance had agents out within a week, and he had damage payments a couple days after that. His company is a smaller regional company with less resources than a nation-wide company like Progressive. I called to see if there was any way to expedite the process, and they very generously moved the date to the 9th.

I had very good luck with all the claims people I interacted with. They were polite and sympathetic. However when I talked to a "licensed agent" about my policy, she got nasty with me. Glacial claims service and rude agents are not what I pay for. Progressive expects us to pay our premiums in a timely manner, but when it comes time to reciprocate, it takes almost three weeks to even get someone out to start the recovery/repair process? Unacceptable. I have been without a car since the incident, in addition to the stress and heartbreak of having my home destroyed by a tornado. I see absolutely no reason why it is taking so long to get the process started.
