My name is Dilma and policy # **. I am a customer of your insurance. I am a single mother, and I have cars with full coverage. I have always tried to make my payments on time even though my work hours have been cut down. My daughter who was not under the policy had an accident with one of the cars. She slid and went into snowbank. There was damage done to the car. I put in a claim in. I understand that my daughter is not covered but I was told my car cannot be repaired. I paid full coverage since August 2025, and my repairs cannot be done because apparently the car is not owned by me. If I cannot get my car repaired which I paid Full coverage I want my money back.
Plus, I had to rent a car for two weeks which I had to pay for. Now they denied my claim and my car is not getting repaired. I have a car in my driveway that is not drivable and cannot be fixed even though I have been paying full coverage. Still getting a bill that I have to pay my next payment. How is that fair, I your customer pay all this money and not being able to use the service? Then you tell me my claim is denied, want my payment for full coverage, told I can't get my money back and now you send me a letter you are cancelling my insurance. Your prices are high as well, but I still paid the bill. I will shop for another company but I wany my money back as soon as possible. Thank you.

They are slow. I spent the first 4 days that I submitted the claim having AI asking me the same questions over and over again. Same questions with repeated requests for the photos. They said they would call, think that took 5 days. I finally made the next step only for the auto body shop refuse me because I was choosing the check vs getting it fixed... since then crickets from the agent whom is either incompetent, terribly over loaded with accounts or on vacation. The questions AI asked were not necessarily pertinent to my situation, never could figure out how to fill in the blanks and have since decided that Progressive does not care.
Then somewhere in between this I was repeatedly asked if I had the Police report, which I said no (in FL they have 10 days to file) and then they wanted to know how to obtain the Police report. I gave them the claim number 6-7 times, why isn't that enough! Are they telling me that they don't know how to get the Police report? I just had my brain rattled by a guy that hit me and everyday I have to do Progressive's job, no thank you!

We had a very minor incident a couple of months ago with my stepson driving his mom's car to the store (1 mile) and due to the snowy/Icey conditions slid into someone's chain link fence and pushed down one of the post with no damage to the car. The homeowner filed a claim to fix the post and we did not file a claim due to no damage to the car. We live in a neighborhood where you can not park on the street at night so all 3 cars were in the driveway. Instead of moving 2 cars his mom gave him permission to take her car.
I received a call from Progressive today 3/1/26 at 4:00 and Kala stated since we did not add my stepson to the policy because he lives in the home the decision was made by her/progressive to cancel the policy on 3/1/26 at 4:00 in the afternoon. I told Kala when we signed up for Progressive no one asked whom was living in the home, so it's not our fault he was not on the policy. She stated there was nothing further to discuss and hung up the phone!! Buyer beware!!!!

Trash company. Never had an at-fault accident in my life. I was hit in a school zone by a speeding car while coming out of my alley (by an illegal immigrant with no license, registration, or insurance at that). Cops come, I do everything to help the other party’s life not be ruined (my mistake) and this incompetent company finds me at fault without any investigation. Pays to total out both cars, pays other party’s fraudulent medical bills and lost a paying customer. Good job, Progressive.

A woman who had the same name as me was in an accident and was not insured. A lawsuit was filed. I was apparently reported by Progressive as the offender. Lawyers claimed to have served me papers at an address I hadn't lived at for years. Started garnishment on my pay immediately. Took me months to prove I was not a black woman living across the state in Nashville.

Called to get insurance quote and decided to go with a 6 month policy.. Gave the agent my debit card to pay for the down payment and also gave my routing and account number for auto pay following the initial debit of the down payment. When the down payment didn't come off the card I called to ensure it was paid (the down payment) in which they debited the card for the down payment (right away) but then tried to take the down payment out of the checking account after I called to pay it with my debit card. So no the money is not going to be in the checking account if I have to call to have you take the initial down payment.
So what should have happened was.. You take the initial down payment right away off the debit card and then the following months payment should be available for autopay... and why was this not explained in the first place? Why is only NY that has a extremely strict policies regarding the payment as long as it's paid on time? And why didn't the agent who did take the down payment off my debit card not stop me from making the payment if it was indeed supposed to be only autopay?

Don't Do It!!! If you might ever be in an accident that is 0% your fault, you don't want to have this insurance. I was hit by a drunk driver going around 100 mph and lost my car. Progressive added erroneous costs to the valuation. They also paid the finance company when I was being led on and researching comps. I did not agree to or sign off on the settlement. Terrible experience and I am getting new coverage for my next car. Live and learn. I will be filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner after the way my claim has been handled. Don't Do It!!! Extremely disappointed with my experience after a no-fault accident. The damage estimate on my vehicle felt unrealistically low, and the process has been slow and frustrating from start to finish. I was also surprised to learn that recycled parts were being pushed for repairs without clear justification or transparency. When you’re already dealing with the stress of an accident you didn’t cause, the last thing you need is to feel like you’re fighting your own insurance company. I expected better communication, a fair assessment of the damage, and a smoother claims process. Based on this experience, I can’t say I’m satisfied with Progressive Insurance.

What a terrible company. They spend One Hundred million dollars on advertising but treat their insured like adversaries. I am a Progressive insured and was rear ended at a stoplight by another Progressive insured and was treated like an enemy. They nickeled and dimed the auto body shop repairing my car and looked for the cheapest ** parts rather than use certified or OEM parts. When I complained they could not care less. I subsequently changed to GEICO.

I’ve had one of the most frustrating insurance experiences of my life with Progressive. After my 2023 Mazda CX‑5 was damaged, Progressive issued a low estimate that didn’t come close to covering the real cost of repairs. Multiple licensed repair shops provided OEM‑based estimates near $9,000, but Progressive tried to force aftermarket parts that don’t meet the standards required under Florida law. They even closed my claim without my acceptance and issued payment I never agreed to.
My front light is broken, making the vehicle unsafe to drive, yet my emails requesting clarification, reopening of the claim, and proper parts have been ignored. I’ve repeatedly asked for written communication and a supervisor’s explanation, but I’ve received no meaningful response. I’ve had to prepare rental arrangements because their delays have left me without a safe vehicle. This has been an exhausting and disappointing experience, and I expected far better from an insurance company I’ve been paying faithfully.

My car was stolen from outside of my house the morning after thanksgiving, 11/28/25, it was recovered in Edison, NJ the next morning after a two hour police chase. The car was crashed on both sides, damaged interior, and things stolen from inside. MOST importantly - the people that stole them car kept the key. I have Progressive insurance. They took weeks to determine if they would fix or total the car. They decided to repair it.
I raised the question about the key fob, they refused to rekey the car. Progressive insisted that the thieves NEVER return to the scene, so they wouldn’t cover rekeying. They also didn’t repair all of the damages and for the record whatever gets stolen from inside the car is not covered either. Guess who came back last night, 2/15/26? The thief with the key! Today, Progressive has determined that the thief returning is *simply* vandalism because the thief got scared off and didn’t complete the theft of the car, they still won’t rekey

Where should I start. Progressive is the worst insurance company you could possibly get. I've never in my life in 2 months that I had them go through what I did in a lifetime of having insurance and I am 40 years old. Had my DL since 16. Anyways don't do it. They will bait you in with a good price but then make excuses to hike it. Then after you contest and give them a problem about it and show them you ain't stupid that they can't get over on uyo they will make an excuse to cut you saying your vehicle is garaged somewhere else that it isn't. I mean how could they tell anyways. They can't but they will assume just to make up an excuse. They are scum bags I'm telling you. Don't do it. Read the reviews it speaks for itself.
I have so many other things they did or I endured to have to do to insure that I gave them the documentation they asked for but they will keep coming with request of other things and things that don't have anything to do with your policy. The under writers will ask personal questions like really personal and it will have you thinking like, "What do they need to know my life story for." They are the worst. Take it from me. Go the other way. Pay the extra 20 bucks to go with GEICO or Allstate. Anything but Progressive.

Progressive’s business model becomes very clear the moment you file a serious claim. Rather than evaluate evidence or act in good faith, they appear to approach claims with the goal of denial from the start. Proof, documentation, and supporting records are irrelevant — they are not requested, reviewed, or meaningfully considered. Instead, the process feels predetermined, with every detail selectively interpreted to justify a denial. Premiums are collected without issue, but when coverage is needed, the company prioritizes protecting itself over honoring its policy. This experience was not only frustrating, but deeply troubling. Consumers should understand the risk before trusting this company in a moment of crisis.

Progressive is good until you're in a accident that isn't your fault. I was hit by a DUI driver and my car was a total loss. Progressive did pay most of my car off but as far as uninsured /underinsured payout we didn't get anything even though I had the coverage on my policy. Progressive fails to tell you when youre signing for insurance their reservation of rights disclaimers that say what they will and will not pay on your policy. They send that info to you months later after the fact. It will be a year from the date of my accident in a week and I've yet to see any kind of payout for uninsured underinsured coverage or bodily injury that I had on my policy.
I haven't heard from the insurance rep.or received a letter explaining why I haven't not received any sort of compensation..I was under the impression that car insurance was supposed to cover you when accidents happen. I paid a lot for insurance that didn't do much for me when I needed it. I've never dealt with insurance companies like this. I will never use Progressive for my auto insurance again. I think I'm gonna go with a more reputable and reliable insurance like State Farm or AAA.

Not replacing them does not restore the vehicle and the safety equipment to pre-loss condition. They never came out in person to assess the damage only gave me an estimate based off the pictures and video they had me upload. The estimate they gave me is VERY low.

So, I recently cancelled the insurance on my pick-up truck because I sold it. This left me with one vehicle on the policy. At this point, my insurance increased because I was no longer entitled to the two vehicles discount. So, now I'm insuring less for more cost. The Progressive agent (aka not very intelligent person) suggested I buy another vehicle to get the discount. In practical terms that is so incredibly inept to suggest that. I have a better idea. What about suggesting finding another insurer that better fits my needs for being more cost effective. Or if that is not allowed then just don't make absurd suggestions.

I have no intention of renewing my policy, any policy with your company. September 16, 2025, was a dark day for me. My car was vandalized, broken into, and quite frankly your company was little to no help. I was fighting this battle alone, as far as I'm concerned. I called back in July 2025 to make sure I had towing and rental car. I don't recall the entire conversation, but I know I was put at ease with conversation knowing I had those things. I spent 13 weeks paying $245 a week for a rental car.
Or maybe the costs for Lyft and Uber twice a day for over a month because I have to go to work? Are you going to reimburse me? I doubt it. Then I had the $2000 deductible that I could afford to pay and my car is still with the company (whom by the way, was far more accommodating and understanding than you) and because my finances were torn apart, so I couldn't afford to make payments on my car because I had to have to have transportation. So my car is in repossession.
And as for the adjuster you assigned me? Talked to him once, texted twice. Never received a phone call asking "how are things?" Nothing! I am in financial ruin right now with no transportation, about to lose my apartment and no money, all because people wanted to destroy someone else's life and Progressive was not helpful, gave me no peace of mind for the hard-earned money to paid to you. I could die right now.

We had Progressive for our auto insurance policy. I kept hearing that we were paying too much. I called them to check to see if our rate should be lower and they came back to the phone with monthly payment rates that were actually higher than what we were paying. In October we were approached by a State Farm Representative who offered us a policy $300 cheaper for the exact same coverage. We decided to go with them beginning 01/02/2026.
In the beginning of December I called to cancel our policy with Progressive effective 01/02/2026, I paid a $2.75 fee for cancellation and told I might receive a bill in January that I should ignore because we were paid in full. I received a bill in January that I ignored. Yesterday I received that bill again for $20.59 that threatened to go to a collection agency if not paid immediately. I called and after 30 minutes on the phone I was told I owed that money and unfortunately their employee told me wrong. Reluctantly I paid the bill but I told them I would not be a customer of theirs again and I won’t be recommending them to anyone I know. Stay away from Progressive Automobile Insurance! Today I switched insurance companies. And I called Progressive to cancel my insurance policy. I spoke with an agent Marlo an informed her that I needed to cancel my policy effective today as I had better auto insurance. She was great at helping me. Cancel the policy and then proceeded to tell me on the day that my policy it was due for renewal. For payment and because I canceled it on today before the end of the day, they proceeded to penalize me and charge me for 1 more day service that I didn't have.
Normally when you call a business and say I am canceling my contract with you and you weren't late on your payment and you cancel it on the day that it's meant to be renewed. There should be no further charges. However, progressive's unfair and unknown billing practices to me left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It makes about as much sense to pay for another day's service on the day that you cancel service with that company As it does for somebody to go swimming in a river full of piranhas that they didn't know. Were in the river and then they get attacked. Because there was no sign up saying warning. Don't swim here. There are piranhas here. I get the same feeling with this company. And their unfair building practices today. I know that business is.
Have you had people that read reviews in? Delete the review. So they don't get bad reviews. However, what they can't delete is the sharing of word-of-mouth with family and friends. And business associates, it used to be the best way to promote a business. It was by word of mouth. Their, their prices are very high, and their cancelation. Practices are very shady. I should not have had to pay anything for canceling my policy today. On the day that the payment was due Because I canceled it on the day It was due. I will not be doing business with progressive. Insurance again, if I could leave them 5 negative five stars, I would.

Extremely disappointing experience with Progressive, specifically around billing transparency and customer service. My monthly auto insurance payment suddenly increased from about $137 to over $320 with no clear notice, no itemized explanation in the app, and no warning emails or letters explaining the increase. When I checked my account before the due date, there were no visible charges showing why this amount would be owed. I had a returned payment in November that was corrected within two days, and a return fee was charged the same day. When I paid the bill shown in the app the following day, no additional balance or fees were displayed. Weeks later, those charges were apparently bundled into a future bill without transparency.
When I contacted customer service to calmly ask for an explanation and possible help, the representative was dismissive, talked over me, and repeatedly stated that nothing could be done. There was no grace, no effort to work with me, and no empathy, despite the lack of clear notice. The only communications I received were about returning a Snapshot device to avoid an additional fee — not about a major billing increase. The app did not clearly reflect what was owed, and customer service refused to acknowledge that confusion.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I am a first responder who serves my community, pays responsibly, and reached out in good faith for clarification and assistance. I did not feel supported or respected as a customer. Insurance companies should provide clear billing, transparent communication, and reasonable customer support — especially when issues arise. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

The bigger issue was my girlfriend already had her own car insurance and didn't need coverage from progressive for a vehicle she didn't drive. The driver of the e-bike was charged for the accident due to not yielding to traffic at an open entrance into a community. The damaged was substantial enough to file a claim for repairs. First issue: Once the claim was filed; Progressive tried to place partial blame on my wife even though the e-bike driver was charged with the accident. Second issue: My wife is a school teacher, we had to wait for a holiday break to put the vehicle in the shop. We waited approximately thirty days before we could leave the vehicle for repairs.
When time was available to leave vehicle for repairs, Progressive had cancelled the claim for repairs. Which Progressive had stated we had one year to have the vehicle repaired. That was not the case, it was cancelled before thirty days after the initial claim was processed. It was it was scheduled for repair on November 24, 2025. Third issue: The dashboard of our vehicle was cracked from the accident. I'm very sad. I was hit by someone who had insurance by Progressive. They pay all 16,000 and left me paying 1500 hundred. And I had Gap insurance. Please understand Gap is a joke. Gap talking about my truck didn't meet this and that, talking about the crack in the window. What the hell that mean when I was hit from the back and my truck was tow out. I have nothing to drive in. All Progressive did. Pay somewhat of my bill and left Gap to pay 1500. No Star. I will never get Gap. And I will all ways check and see if I can get insurance without going through theses companies. Why I have to give at least 1 stars. When you don't deserve it.

Clearly, a company that should invest far more in providing their customers with proper and respectable service and less on commercials. EIGHT months ago, and due to the clear neglect of one of their insured, the fence on my property was destroyed, resulting in a very small claim ($1,500). Since then, and after approximately 20 follow-up attempts, they are still yet to pay the claim. It has been one excuse after the other, which all point back to clear shortcomings in their claim policies and (or) that of their staff's willingness to expedite specific matters. Logic would tell anyone that they can easily pay this claim regardless of any circumstances or company policies, but that is not what is important to them. In closing, based on the overwhelming percentage of one-star reviews, I am not expecting this review to prompt resolution, but I do hope it prompts consumers to look elsewhere for all of their insurance needs.

This young lady cut me off and stated I've already spoken to mister and it started from there. She called my ex on a three-way call and lied on me. She told my husband I asked if he was dead or alive, and I was adamant about finding out if anyone was in the car with him. After I hung up I called back and ask for her manager; she wouldn't connect me. She stated, "I've already spoken to him about this." I have automatic payments set up, so the money was taken from my account. When I contacted customer service, they admitted the change was made but refused to give me a refund, even though I never approved adding another driver. This is completely unacceptable and feels like a dishonest business practice. No policy change should ever be made without the customer’s consent. I trusted Progressive with my insurance, but this experience showed me they do not value their customers or take responsibility for their own mistakes. I do not recommend Progressive to anyone.

I have been with Progressive for years this past year my insurance jumped drastically, I called because I was going to cancel policy, I found cheaper with better coverage. The agent I spoke with wanted to verify information that could "save me money" after the review my insurance dropped a good amount what she failed to tell me is that underwriting would request a ridiculous amount of crap from me. I even had to contact the DMV to get some of the requested info. I emailed everything they requested but the information that DMV said would take 15 day for me to receive. That was all documented in my email and I still received a notice to cancel. This is nothing but a joke at this point.
I will be looking elsewhere for coverage. I do not need to be treated like a criminal or disrespected! I had to prove that I was the owner of the vehicles that I had coverage on and when I purchased them. I had to send info that I owned my home. Keep in mind I have been with Progressive since 2022 and all three vehicles was purchased during that time. I do not have home owner through them but had to prove I am a "homeowner"! This whole issue was nothing but a big scam! I thought I was saving 50.00 month, guess they wanted to me leave because that is exactly what I will be doing.

Updated on 12/06/2025: I find it extremely suspicious that my dad policy for 1837.00 for the same coverage was cancelled for failure to provide proof of address, where he live in that apartment since 1984 and it's on his Driver's license. They then cancelled his insurance 11/26. Another agent then rewrote the same policy without proof of address on the phone but now charged 2754.00 on 12/6/05/. My dad was without insurance for 11 days and knew the day before. Why is it that Progressive didn't need proof of address to rewrite anew the policy? They charged a 79 year old man $2754.00. That's a 917.00 difference for the same policy but instead charged him more. This is what you do to the elderly? Charge them!
Why did they not need proof of address to rewrite the new policy? Just to get more money, I tried to get someone to help but no one wanted to help; so they scared my dad and charged him even more just because he was scared and willing to pay for insurance for his 2008 Toyota, just liability insurance. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, I already listed the complaint with Consumer Affairs. My dad just wants his insurance coverage and he paid whatever the agent asked for. As a company, Progressive should have done the right thing and reinstate his policy for the amount of 1837. This is wrong. I am hoping this is not what they do to seniors. I wrote to them, no response yet.
Original Review: My father is 79 years old, he started his policy 10/03/25 with Progressive paid his premium and thought that was done. They sent him a letter saying they needed proof of address and wanted to see utility bills. He called me. I explained how to take a pic of it. He lives in NY, I live in FL. He sent it to me, I called and spoke to them, emailed and uploaded the utility bills 11/17. I even paid the entire policy off. I called to see if they received it. They said it takes a while to review.
They sent back an email a week later to put it in a jpeg. I did 11/30, the same day and they cancelled it on 11/26/25. We spoke to Brian ID # ** if that's even correct, since he refused to give his last name. He didn't care about my dad in NY and I am in FL trying to help him, he can see in the notes I was emailing all along. I told him my dad he lived at that address since 1984, it's on his driver's license. He refused. My dad called before and they are just trying to sell him insurance at a higher rate, rather than reinstate his policy. Their strong arm tactics on the elderly are disgusting, they are rude and unempatic, not one of them tried to help in any way.

Then two weeks later got a bill for $250 which was October and by then the government was shut down and I couldn’t pay it. I called the number they provided for help with those affected by the shut down and they still cancelled my policy and are now hounding me for the $250 they wanted from October. My vehicle had been hit in traffic twice commuting to and from work. The third and oldest claim was never assigned fault due to it being my word against the other driver's word. I don't kosb my car out and they said they were living with me,,, that's untrue, so because of this supposed accident they delete my comprehensive and change it to something that says if I get into an accident I have to use aftermarket parts or pay for it myself, they also charged me for the comprehensive and did not offer a refund.
Then on 10/12/2025 they canceled my policy, no contact with me but the policy is still there., So that's rescinded on 09/11/2025 and canceled 10/12/2025 then on 11/05/2025, they put a document saying non renewal of policy because I or a person on my policy threatened a Progressive employee, it didn't happen. I called about other insurance and they said, "We cannot insure you at this time." What did they put on my background to have an insurance company say, "We cannot insure you at this time," they put something on there.
This is all fraud, untrue accusations that has put me in a bind, they denied my claim to by the way, is this normal practice, if say not, I'd say they're responsible for fraud on a policy and trying to harm the policy holder,, and denying a claim. I had to end up paying for my rental car out of pocket. Shortly after my car was totaled progressive raised my insurance rates from $130.00 to $450.00 without any explanation or anything.
My adjuster Javier ** was really great at first. He was so helpful and walked me through everything but after getting legal help, he started acting like a jerk about everything, when my car was totaled out he literally told me, “If your vehicle's repairs cost under $10k we’re gonna get it fixed rather I liked it or not.” I already knew my car was a total loss because it was smelt like something was burning when driving it not to mention the bottom frame was bent and the whole trunk of the car was smashed in, they didn’t care I was still driving it for over 2 months after the accident and it was completely dangerous for myself. I needed a car working as a hospice nurse and I explained all of this to them but they only want your money not any of your accident problems or anything other than what you can do for them.
I have spoken with the supervisor Krystle who approved me to get the rental car but for some reason Javier gets a hard on by keeping your benefits away from you. I took this insurance out in good faith thinking that all I needed was to make on time payments. As it turned out I was mistaken. For a month into the policy I was told that I had to supply pictures of all "4" sides of my car along with a picture of my registration, etc. This on a minimum liability policy with nothing else added. And if I didn't follow what they demanded then my insurance would be cancelled. When I complained my complaint went for naught.
I was told that I was randomly chosen which left me with “2” choices, either accept or leave. They can say anything they want. I on the other hand see it as an example of being profiled along with being subjected to the heavy-handed tactics by a company who has little concern for their insured. Progressive estimate approx. $5,500, when I argue with the adjuster they said must have been multiple accidents; They said want to fix bed not replace twisted bed, not covering tailgate at all said damage couldn't happen the way truck was hit. I called Progressive in the middle of April to open up an SR-22 policy on a new vehicle that I purchased. After a long time on the phone we got the policy. I paid the money, a lot of money and continued on with getting my driver's license and moving forward with life. As I applied for my driver's license several times it kept kicking back and I kept losing out on the money that it cost to apply for a driver's license. I would get the paper copy. They would say everything was okay and then I would never get the plastic copy in the mail. The paper copy would expire and I wouldn't have a driver's license again. Upon calling over and over and over again I've requested that policy first conversation because I did let them know that I had an SR22 and later on in the months found out that she did not put the SR-22 on there and upon paying 269 for regular insurance I had to tack on an additional 400 to that to pay for the extra policy cost.
I've requested to hear the conversation over and over and over again. Your customer service representatives have sent me the wrong conversation. They've put me off. They've hung up on me. They've told me that if I didn't tell them that I would be calm and collected that they wouldn't transfer me. I am very very upset with this company. I think it's crap. You guys have a lot of money. You can afford to put people in there that know what they're talking about and what they're doing but instead you put children in there who don't know how important it is to keep an SR22 on somebody's driver's license when they're purchasing a vehicle. It's unfortunate that your people don't understand how important that is being an insurance company. I'm so devastated with this company. I hate it. I will tell all of my friends and family never to go through Progressive. It's a shitty company and I can't wait to be done with it.

When it comes time for them to process your claim, they will do everything in their power to NOT give you the money you are due. They will drag their feet processing your claim, purposely having your storage bill grow exponentially, then they will low ball you on the value of your vehicle, so they can claim that your vehicle is a total loss. I was rear-ended and the at-fault driver was insured with Progressive. Since then, Progressive has mishandled my diminished value claim at every step. Representatives gave me false and misleading information, including telling me I had to file my diminished value claim through my own insurer (GEICO) and even incorrectly stating that “diminished value is the same as subrogation.” One representative laughed at me when I asked questions, which was unprofessional and unacceptable. I specifically requested that my complaint about their representatives be documented in the claim file, but I have no confirmation that it was ever logged.
I faxed Progressive my diminished value demand letter with confirmation of delivery, yet I was transferred to an adjuster who was said to be “available” but gave me no response. Since then, my follow-up texts and emails to both the adjuster and the supervisor have gone unanswered. This behavior reflects a pattern of misrepresentation, avoidance, and lack of accountability. Consumers deserve an insurer that handles claims fairly and honestly. Based on my experience, Progressive has failed to meet that standard.

I believe the straw that broke the camel's back with me was when my husband financed a car and they upped the price of insurance to more than the amount we were paying monthly for the car and this was with a 1000.00 deductible. I began to shop around and found that better coverage with 500.00 deductible at another company was significantly lower. I refused to renew my policy with progressive. Was beyond happy to get away from them and kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
I definitely do not recommend. They have no perks or bonuses that reward loyal customers. They line their pockets without hard earned money and offer next to no coverage. It’s a bait-and-switch tactic to bleed you for more money. You basically end up paying double to get insured again. They have no problem taking your money, canceling your policy with no explanation, and then turning around and reporting false balances to the credit bureaus — damaging your score over things you never owed. They offer zero accountability. Customer service is useless and constantly “transfers” you without resolving anything.
If you try to question the charges, they stonewall you. If you ask for documentation, they gaslight you. Their system is designed to confuse and trap you. I received notice in 2023 that they were cancelling my insurance stating my 2nd car (still located in and registered in Kentucky) was located in Florida. I explained that to my agent, and was told it was solved. In 2025, I received my invoice for 2025/2026, paid it in full, then 3 months later, received another notice of cancellation for the same reason. We took it to a trusted shop, where both the owner and a mechanic assessed clear signs of water damage and advised us to file a claim.
From the start, the claims adjuster was rude and unprofessional. Her tone made the process unnecessarily stressful. Then a field adjuster visited the shop and was outright disrespectful, belittling the staff to the point that the shop owner refused to let him return. He later told us he was a “master mechanic” and had been a field adjuster for 15 years—before bluntly denying our claim.
We reached out to our insurance agent, Natalie at Estrella Insurance, who was kind and helpful throughout. Eventually, a supervisor acknowledged the field adjuster was “a little rough around the edges” and sent someone else. Unfortunately, the second adjuster barely asked any questions and quickly left. Despite the shop’s initial assessment and repeated explanations, Progressive still denied the claim. I’ve since canceled my policy and taken my business elsewhere. I said what was the point of staying with Progressive and she did not even try to get me to stay. I have never dealt with such an incompetent and uncaring insurance company.

When asked what they used to determine this rate, they make up lies to scam me out of more money. First they said it depends on the make and model of your car, then they said it depends on the person. I do not recommend any Michigan car insurance company. They do not disclose the reasons why they charge you abnormally high rates, most of it is based on discriminatory practices, and that is why they do not tell you. More ** people get racially profiled and pulled over making our insurance rates higher. The car payments are already high and then the insurance cost half of the car payment. I do not want to hear anything about risk factors, because there would be no need for car insurance, if there were no accidents. They add random people to your policy WITHOUT CONSENT. They'll price gouge your policy even if YOU'VE NEVER FILED A CLAIM & don't bother to ask why, as they'll give you a bs excuse that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you. I've never filed a single claim with them over the past 5 years. This month, due to fraudulent activities, I canceled one of my credit cards. I did not realize that this was the credit card I had on file with them. When the autopay failed, they immediately added a $30 surcharge to my bill and downgraded my rating, even though I made the payment the very next day when I received the alert. I was upset and shopped around for a new policy. Today, I canceled my 5-year auto and home insurance with Progressive. I saved a whopping 65% with my new auto policy and 17% with my new home insurance policy. I voted with my dollar, and they lost another customer. I highly recommend not sitting back and simply accepting their annual premium increases. Shop around for better rates.

Last year, my son had an accident. No citations given. No police report. And MY insurance company denied my son 100% at fault, which was impossible if you know what happened. They assign me a claim representative, her name is Ginette **. I was not contacted at all. I, myself had to give them a call multiple times, in which they never answered. I then submitted a message on the app providing additional information and told the representative to call me. I still did not receive any contact from my claim representative nor the company for multiple days. I continue to call and finally my claim representative answers. I ask about the status of my car and where are we at in the process. Ginette states that they are still waiting for the police report, but fails to tell me that they never requested the police report. I call the county office myself and retrieve the police report and upload it on the app.
I call Ginette back the following day to see if she received the police report and to check on the status. She received the police report but stated it takes 48 hours to review the report and there is nothing myself or the company can do at the moment. I patiently wait 4 days just to give them extra time. Ginette calls me on the 5th day and proceeds to ask all the same questions that i already answered when i submitted my claim. She asked all the questions that should've been asked within 48 hours of me submitting my claim. She was constantly trying to push for my vehicle to be totaled without properly assessing the actual repairs and the potential cost.
It has been 16 days since my accident, and there has been zero progress moving forward with my claim. This has been absolutely piss poor service since the day I submitted the claim. Three weeks. My boyfriend's insurance had agents out within a week, and he had damage payments a couple days after that. His company is a smaller regional company with less resources than a nation-wide company like Progressive. I called to see if there was any way to expedite the process, and they very generously moved the date to the 9th.
I had very good luck with all the claims people I interacted with. They were polite and sympathetic. However when I talked to a "licensed agent" about my policy, she got nasty with me. Glacial claims service and rude agents are not what I pay for. Progressive expects us to pay our premiums in a timely manner, but when it comes time to reciprocate, it takes almost three weeks to even get someone out to start the recovery/repair process? I was at fault & given a warning by the police for following to close. There was no visible damage. The other party wanted to exchange insurance information & I can understand that.
After about 4 months when it was time for my 6 month insurance renewal, my insurance tripled from what I was originally paying. I was shocked. I reached out to progressive & apparently the accident that had happened a few months earlier was filed as a claim. No one from Progressive reached out to me about the claim, especially since the other party filed & got a $10K payout. No one reached out to me, got my side of the story, I didn't get anything done to my car & yet the other party got a payout for pain & suffering, damage to vehicle & also medical bill. Someone from Progressive dropped the ball & I ended up having a higher premium. & I had to walk away from Progressive with no help & finding another insurance provider.
Progressive is a great company, but I wish someone would have followed through with process of making sure they gather information from all parties especially from someone that they are making money off of. If you decide to go with Progressive, just follow through & make sure you stay on top of any claims filed.

(This review is about the insensitive handling of my claim by the claim adjuster). Hello, I was rear-ended on the freeway by a driver who also drove off immediately from the scene of the accident. This resulted in my vehicle being totaled. The incident was in February of 2025 and I did not get a settlement on my vehicle until late June of 2025. The initial amount offered was not anywhere near the current value and was continually being lowered as more and more excuses were being given by the claim adjuster.
Ultimately, the day came for me to sign the lowered acceptance offer and I was to receive a document for a direct bank transfer. Both were promised to me by the same claim adjuster and only the acceptance offer was emailed. When asked why I didn't receive the direct deposit form, the claim adjuster made excuses that the system generates on its on time and will probably be delivered via email on Monday, this all occurred on a Friday. Progressive in my opinion, has lied and deceived me from a fair offer for my damaged vehicle by thousands of dollars. I will never recommend or use Progressive Insurance for my personal insurance carrier. I would pay double the monthly insurance rate before I support an insurance company that treats the victims less than fair.

Once they accepted responsibility they forced me to use their app to upload pictures and videos, which we already submitted weeks ago to the person responsible for our claim. It’s been two weeks since uploading videos and we are still waiting for approval to have the truck repaired.
The person responsible for our claim does not answer the phone or return phone calls. I’m so pissed off at this company. I run a small business with a fleet of vehicles. I’ve dealt with insurance companies many times. I have never had so much trouble dealing with an insurance company. It is so upsetting to have a brand new truck sitting due to the complete lack of any responsibility of this company, due to the fault of another driver. Progressive Insurance is terrible. They should take some of their advertising money and invest it in their staff.
I have Erie Insurance and they have always taken care of business, be it our own vehicles or the other party. Progressive is playing games, probably an attempt to wait this one out hoping we pay ourselves or don’t get the truck fixed, I don’t know what their intent is but it’s not right. Our company will send an adjuster comes out, right away, or they will allow an approved repair shop to submit their own claim. Putting it on the party who is not at fault to use an app is complete nonsense. It should not be on ME to do anything at this point. Progressive should be communicating with us and helping to get this truck repaired. It’s been six weeks since the accident, tens of phone calls and still no approval to proceed with repairs, and it’s impossible to get anyone on the phone who gives a shit or is willing to do their job. A total disgrace. I pity anyone that is hit by a Progressive driver. Screw you Progressive!

Let’s call this what it is: bait and switch—disguised under the thin veil of “market fluctuations” and “environmental factors.” These so-called progressive business tactics are anything but. They lure you in with an appealing, low-cost insurance premium—just enough to get you comfortable—only to blindside you with a massive, unjustified rate hike just six months in.
The excuse? A vague “increase in cost and/or environmental conditions.” Really? Who exactly do they think they’re fooling with this boilerplate nonsense? If nothing about my driving habits, mileage, or location has changed, then this price-gouging is pure opportunism. It's corporate greed hiding behind a façade of professional legitimacy.
What’s most insulting is the assumption that consumers won’t notice—or worse, won’t care. It’s not just misleading, it’s a breach of trust. And once that trust is broken, no flashy commercials or empty apologies can fix it. If you're considering this company, be warned: the “good deal” you’re offered upfront is a trap. Don’t fall for it.

The other party received $14,000 and literally there was no damage to his car when my husband drove away. Please remember to take pictures and videos at the scene of the accident. OH MY! The other party had been in another accident recently and even said that to my husband when he bumped the rear end of the other party's car with no damage. BE AWARE: as of 6/14/25, this company does not give any discount for taking driver courses.. We submitted two and then they told us, even after telling us how to submit them, they don't give discount for this. Also, one person at the company literally changed our policy without our OK, and which we never even mentioned to them to do.
Luckily I called back for something else and found our policies had been changed without our consent. Even though the wreck has been on the policy, they were way out of line in price for the last couple of years as well, beyond the increased amount for the wreck. Our bad for not having checked the pricing earlier and just blindly playing. BE AWARE: Their one accident free policy after being with them for so many years can be easily bought from other companies for about 100 bucks a year, so please don't be sucked in by that. I decided to call and just ask about it, with the hopes of getting a lower amount. By the end of the call it had MORE than doubled. The underwriter lied flat out saying there was a law in my state that required my NON DRIVING daughters to be on the insurance, just because they are over 16, they don't touch the car, but they are still a "RIsk" and there's a nonexistant law requiring them to be on the plan, not as drivers but it raised the plan 100 just for that. Then I have a son who ONLY has a permit, and therefore is NOT required to be insured yet.
It is JUST a progressive policy that no, he DOES have to be fully insured apparenty. No other company has that that I am aware of. The lady also didn't know what she was doing, she had to put me on hold to "research" these things and every time she did she came back with us owing more and more. It almost appeared like she was looking for ways to up our premium. so now we would owe MORE than double, and the "Catchup" amount the next month was TRIPLE the premium we had. I can't imagine how much it would be if I had an actual accident.
After being with progressive over the years I couldn't believe how I was treated. When I finally went in the chat to cancel, the agent told me if she wanted to send me cancellation documents in the mail which would drag the policy out for another week or two. I have auto pay so I understood her assignment, and ask for the cancellation effective immediately. I told her to send me anything I needed to sign electronically using my email. She then proceeded to tell me if I didn't provide my information she was going to sign me up for non-renewal. To say the lease I was appalled. They then said there was nothing they can do about it unless I pay the bill...
All that being said, I have to say by far the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. If you can go with some other insurance company do so, stay as far as you can from Progressive Auto Insurance. They have shown me to be a company that is more worried about how they can get more money out of you while presenting a front of being the lowest and best insurance company, if they don't get their way.

Purchased Progressive through a third party broker. Found cheaper insurance on my own, so we called the broker and canceled Progressive car and motorcycle insurance. Next thing you know we were getting a bill from Progressive for the insurance we canceled. Less than 30 days later came a collection notice from Progressive. We returned it stating that we had canceled and owed nothing. We didn't hear a response until about 30 days after that ... we got notification from the state wanting to charge us a fine, because Progressive told them we were uninsured. Fortunately we were able to get the fine removed because we could prove we are and were insured by a company much more honest and with better integrity and customer service than Progressive. Progressive, however, is still claiming we owe them, and the collection notice stands. Stay away from Progressive and their creative, dishonest billing.

I received an email stating a claim was filed on my auto policy. I called the number on the email and was answered by AI. AI gave me phone number of claims adjuster. Then AI connected me to adjuster. Call disconnected. Called again and once again AI connected me to adjuster. Message telling me to leave a message. Called again and kept telling AI over and over that I wanted to talk to a human being. AI finally connected me to a person who told me my vehicle was involved in an accident and claim was filed but would not give me any other information. She gave me phone number of adjuster's supervisor. Supervisor told me a claim was filed in Florida and that the claimant had the same name as me and the same policy number as me. Said she would have adjuster call me.
Waited for adjuster to call and when she didn't, I called supervisor back. She told me she wanted to remove the claim but could not do it until new claim was filed. I asked how this could happen and she started telling me the same name and same policy number issue had confused everything. So I asked her if other driver was driving same make and model car with my vehicle's VIN. I asked did he have same birthday and driver's license number. Or same license plate number. She said it was simple human error. I said I had to answer questions on the phone before I was allowed to speak to anybody, but no one had to answer any questions before filing a claim against my policy.
I also asked how come we both had the same policy number and was told we lived in different states. I said this is unacceptable and asked for the supervisor's manager's name and number. Supervisor then started apologizing and claiming human error and would not give her manager's name and phone. So I told her I was going to find a different insurance company. I was told that was my prerogative. Then I hung up. About 30 minutes later, the adjuster called me and started telling me the same things her supervisor told me.
I repeated the same things I told her supervisor. Then I hung up. I find it unacceptable that an insurance company can assign the same policy number to two different policyholders. And I find it unbelievable that the same policy number was issued to two different policyholders with the same name. I was asked for my date of birth repeatedly while carrying on these conversations. Did other policy holder with same name and policy number also have same date of birth?? They did absolutely no checking whatsoever before putting an accident on my policy! And I found their explanations both unacceptable and unbelievable. I will be changing insurance companies as soon as possible.

Progressive Auto Insurance is one of the worst auto insurance companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Their customer service representatives repeatedly lied to me about policy rates, another gave me a false name, several others lied to me and told me that documents (which would have lowered my rate) cannot be emailed to Progressive, (Yes, they can. It's the same email address Progressive uses for sending document links to customers), instead they claimed I had to send the documents to them via snail mail, forcing me to have to pay the higher rate that month; another rep told me that my insurance rate was high, ($549 + change per month for one non-luxury car, no claims and a perfect driving record), because of paperwork I needed to sign and email back to them.
She kept me on the phone for over half an hour and, as soon as I'd signed and emailed the paperwork back, she informed me that, no, it actually wouldn't change my rate that month. When I first started my policy Progressive reps ran me around about PIP coverage. I was literally on the phone going between my medical insurance company and Progressive for 12 hours that day trying to get the PIP coverage figured out and sent over to them (this is where the lies about emailing and the lie about the rep's name came in).
I was hung up on, transferred, and/or disconnected multiple times that day and reps do not have extension numbers where customers can bypass the automated system to reach them if the call should drop. This is a major issue because the automated system answers every phone call--no matter what you're calling about--then runs you in circles with questions that keep you from being able to access customer service. Every time you call, you have to go through the entire process..."Let's see if I can help you...." (No, you can't "help me." Just put a representative on so I can get on with it!) In short, Progressive is EXPENSIVE and TIME CONSUMING and the representatives cannot be trusted to tell you the truth. I will never use Progressive again nor would I ever suggest anyone else to use them.

This is a den of thieves and liars. Stay away at all costs. We recently got in an accident and they basically lied to us through the whole claim process. We were stopped at a light, and had been there for several minutes when someone hit us. So we call them to file the claim. We ask if we will need to pay the deductible. They say no since it wasn't our fault they will have the other insurance company cover it. Mind you we have multiple dash cameras so we could clearly show that it wasn't our fault. So we go ahead and file the claim. Then we get a claim representative, one Madeline... I won't use her last name. She then proceeds to tells us that she has us covered and that she is in discussion with the other party's insurance to get them to cover everything.
Weeks go by and our truck is finally done with repairs. She then told us that the other party didn't have insurance, even though it was a commercial fleet vehicle and in the state of Utah it is law for all commercial vehicles to have insurance. We then proceeded to get her supervisor number, her name is Courtney. She is a piece of work and just a horrible person. She basically lied to us as well saying the previous personnel we spoke with had not authority to make such claims, and blamed us for everything. 500 dollars is not that much money, in the grand scheme of things... but them lying to their clients and treating them like crap says it all. I used a separate card, and made sure this time they did not have Autopay enabled. But that incurs an additional charge (I was never made aware of this). No worries, they sent the bill for the additional amount so late (despite when they said they actually mailed it), that to pay that additional bill would also incur a late fee. So I found better, similar priced insurance and cancelled the policy. But they "prorated" the first month higher, reducing the refund nearly 10% of what it should have been. He never send me message/email how to submit the video. The claim adjuster did not answer calls/his phone went straight to voicemail every time I called him. He also did not listen to his voicemail because based on the conversation that we had, he repeatedly asked me questions that I had already left in the voicemail for him. During my call with him, he said he reached out to the other driver multiple times. I said I was not aware of that because he never told me that. He said that he “did not have to tell me” any information.
He insisted that he could not get the claim number from the other driver's insurance (Crum and Forster). I told him that they just need the other driver’s information to pull the claim number. He refused to call them. I called Crum and Forster myself and I was able to get the claim number from Crum and Forster. I have had car insurance with Progressive for a few years now. I had never had any problems with them until recently. On February 18, 2025, I went to lunch at my local QT which is my normal routine I usually grab something under 6.00. When I tried to check out my debit card was declined. Upon further investigation I found that they had taken 800.16 (about a week and a half paycheck) from my account instead of the normal 221.00 monthly payment. Their actions cost me NSF plus other bills that I could not pay.
When I called, they informed me that they had added my son to our insurance because he shares my address, and my rate would be well over 500.00 a month. My son is a war veteran and has a mini home on our property. I requested that he be removed from my insurance, and I was told that they could not remove him from my policy. My son is in his 30's, has his own car and insurance which I proved that, but I was told that I would have to prove that he does not live in my household by sending them a bill with his name on it. This all seems scary that my car insurance is spying to see who shares the same address. I am in my 60's and have never ever filed a claim on insurance and have not had a ticket in 40 years so I just don't get it.
When I spoke to multiple people over the phone, I was told "to clear up any confusion I might have that an e-mail was sent to me, and I could have disputed it, but now it's too late". I do not do business by e-mail it's not very reliable, and I have since went back and looked and have yet to find that e-mail. I have written Progressive underwriters, Peter B.
