My car was backed into my a Progressive Policy Holder. I was told the car would be repaired and I would be given a rental while my SUV was being repaired. It has never been told to be or stipulated in writing how long Progressive will honor my having a rental car. For the past three (3) days the Claims person from Progressive ** has been calling me telling me they were not going to pay for the rental any longer than tomorrow Friday, June 12th, and the body shop has told them the repairs on my car will be completed by Tuesday, March 16th. Now there are 4 days remaining before my SUV is repaired yet, I am being stressed to have to find transportation for the remainder of the time my car is being repaired.

I have been with Progressive for a decade now and a couple of weeks our insured Truck was hit by lightning.. They totaled the truck.. We didn’t know till we called. We have been without Truck for 2 weeks. I called my lender who has the note and Progressive hasn’t even contacted them. They are requiring payment. The last 2 days I keep getting no straight answer still waiting approval. When time is of the essence and you take a family’s car away. Ridiculous Waiting..

My car got back into at the end of April of 2015 and cracked my bumper on the rear end of my car, so I called Progressive and let them know what happened. Everything started ok at first. I took my car to the shop and dropped it off at A&J collision repair and here goes Progressive with their normal bullcrap "being CHEAP". Progressive keep ordering the cheapest bumper they could find because they didn't want to go through the original dealer which was Chevy to get the exact bumper.
My car ended up being in the shop for a month for a 5 day bumper job, then on top of that because I had the rental car for as long as my car was in the shop Hertz rental said I went over $200 on the rental and check this bullcrap out: Progressive insurance wouldn't pay the difference and it was their fault why my car was in the shop that long in the first place. If you have progressive insurance and you ever get in an accident Good Luck on the customer service cause they treat you like crap and they don't care about their customers.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE 2, CHEATING COMPANIES (Progressive/Bloomfield Collision in Bloomfield)... These 2 together are like a SNAKE ON OIL... VERY Slimy mixed together. They take your car after an accident, try to do the very least amount of work, which is understandable but then after they are told No, and decide to take it to another mechanic they purposely lose, sell your parts and you wind up having to replace everything that they didn't fix on your CAR and you will be left holding the bag. They had my car for 3 weeks and pulled my truck apart & then sold the parts... The video will speak for itself!!!

On May 9, 2015 my vehicle was involved in an accident. My vehicle was struck from behind while I was stopped at a traffic light and it was pushed into the car in front. I immediately contacted my "trusty" insurance company Progressive Direct Insurance and filed a claim over the phone (policy number is ** and my claim number is **). Here in Florida you are required to have damages to cover property in case of an accident up to 10,000. That is the law. Of course, because I was not at fault I wanted to file a claim under the other driver's policy, who has Geico Insurance. The other driver was fined for the accident. The claim adjuster for Geico has denied the claim; first they stated they needed to determine who was at fault (which is ridiculous). Then they said the damages exceeded the $10,000 limit on the policy, amazingly coming to this conclusion without looking at my car.
To make matters worse, I am getting all this information from my own claims adjuster from Progressive, who by the way 30 days later still has not seen my car either. I decided to go see someone at a local body shop, recommended by the local dealership. While at this body shop (Maitland Auto Body in Casselberry Florida,) I spoke to a gentleman named ** who refused to give me an estimate. He said to me that this was standard procedure to deny claims due to the fact that there is not enough coverage under the policy of the party at fault's policy, and that he works with both Progressive Insurance and Geico Insurance. Although he refused to give me an estimate, he was very eager to get my claim number and the name and phone number of my claim's adjuster. By the way, this same shop has a sign in the front of the building advertising Free Estimates, and another one by the front counter stating that you must pay your deductible upfront.
The bottom line is that my own insurance company, Progressive Direct Insurance (the same one with all the Flo commercials) refuses to even do an estimate on my car to determine if the damages can be covered by the party at fault's insurance company. They seem eager to work with me to get my car fixed under my policy. I wonder what will happen to my premiums if I go that route. I also wonder if they are just in agreement with Geico, and who knows how many other insurance companies to deny customer the money that they are due under the law.

I have an insurance policy with Progressive and was not allowed to use my maximum of 30 days. I was made an offer on May 18, 2015 and I told the representative that was not a good offer. But then we had to wait for an answer from the courts to move forward on my claim. I explained to ** and her boss Ms. ** that I needed the rental. I was told that I was given one week at first and then given another week as a courtesy, but my policy gives me a maximum of 30 days. They had me to turn the car in without any closure to my claim.

I bought a 2013 Ford F-150. I already had Progressive for a year. I added truck with full coverage. A man ran a red light and hit my truck. He was at fault and was ticketed for the wreck yet Progressive is trying to say it was both of our fault in their eyes but agree with me I did not break any laws. Do not use this insurance company. They will do anything they can to make you pay some or all of your deductible. I have already dropped them and started insurance somewhere else. Got same coverage and saved 160 dollars. I also turned them in to Ohio department of insurance and the BBB. They can try to explain this one to them. The Ohio department of insurance said they will fine Progressive for bad practices if found they did wrong. All Progressive is saying it's my fault. The other guy ran a red light.

I have just had a terrible experience with my claim. Their rep ** at Diamond Auto Body failed to make an assignment for my car repair up until when I come back in 4 days. My car was dusting there at Diamond Auto Body for 4 full days (dropped it off Monday, Apr 20 early morning) without any action (parts order and/or inspection). **, who is your regional rep, heard about my claim only today. So it was until I stopped by the body shop that you cared about my claim. Let alone the fact that their service center at Silver Spring did not give me any estimate. They sent me to Diamond, but at Diamond ** told me to go back to Silver Spring and do it again. I mean, those people were just ping-ponging me back and forth avoiding responsibility. I had to rent a car for a whole week for nothing. Never get a car insurance with them!!!

Our car was rear-ended by someone with Progressive Auto Insurance. The other driver was at fault and admitted fault at the scene. My wife stopped for a pedestrian and then watched their insured in the rear view mirror as they ran right into the back of us (in my BMW no less). The driver behind them also didn't stop causing a second collision with our car. The driver that hit them fled the scene. We reported it to Progressive Insurance in April but because their insured wouldn't call them back for six weeks we were left unattended.
Now today Progressive Insurance denied the claim because of the second car. If their driver would have followed at the proper distance and stopped the accident wouldn't have happen in the first place. They then said that when my wife initially and unofficially reported the claim she made mention of not knowing who hit her first, which was a lie and manipulation of the conversation. When officially asked for her statement and walked through the events of the accident, my wife clearly identified their insured hitting our vehicle as she watch from the rear view mirror and then being struck again when the 2nd car impacted. I didn't even mention yet that this was all over <$500 damage to my car?
Now for <$500 I will make sure to spread Progressive's shady claims practices and our horrible experience with them verbally and on every social media outlet I can spread the word on. #avoidprogressiveinsurance

We ran aground on 22 May, 2015, and called Progressive. They called their contractor, Compass Marine, to dispatch a tow boat, Flagship Towing, out of Leander (also operating out of Kemah). I get a text from the dispatcher (** @ Compass Marine) that the guy will be out in "1.45 - 2 hrs." At the three hour mark, I call and find out that the guy hasn't even left the dock yet and is refusing to.
The Coast Guard is concerned about a father and son stranded in the middle of nowhere and with nightfall coming. They ask if they can pull us off the boat, and I agree. So the Coast Guard sends a rescue helicopter and pull us off the boat. Now at this point, when you've screwed your customer so badly -- you would think they would be the top priority the very next day. Nope. It took a full five days before their guy shows up. Everyday for the five days I called, texted and let them know the pump would only hold out as long as the battery held out which is about 48 hours. The boat was filling with water with each wave to hit the side of the boat. The wave action was working the keel into the mud. So by five days later, when the guy shows up he says, "It isn't covered because it is a hard grounding and not a soft one," meaning the job has become a "salvage" and not a tow.
As soon as I get my boat back, I am cancelling Progressive and finding another company. I am sad that they got any money from me at all. Their delays caused a small problem to become a very large one and then they said in essence that you are not covered for the larger problem -- just the small one. They will never be able to explain the five-day delay in getting my property back, and if they made a mistake, they could have covered the extra problem. It probably would not have cost a penny extra, but they cling to technicalities, even if their lackadaisical response created the technicality that they now hide behind.

Now this June - same thing again - Progressive says they never got the proof of address document(s). How do I still have insurance, you idiots then? Why do I have to go through this again?

My husband, prior to his passing, purchased Progressive Auto Insurance after being in an accident and discovering he did not have SR22. Progressive assigned him a fictitious VIN Number and Vehicle. I had the names of representatives ** (knowingly sold the policy) and ** (spoke to me after my husband's passing until I unraveled new findings). I reported them to the BBB and Progressive refused to speak with me after I accused them of illegal business practices and unethical behavior. Progressive insisted via the BBB they would not speak to me because I had no will, proof I am the spouse. I was dismayed because my death certificate indicating I am the surviving spouse did not meet their requirements. Also, ** spoke to me after my husband's death until I inquired of their mishandling of this policy. I feel this is a form of socioeconomic discrimination. I am penalized because I did have a will?
Furthermore, Progressive sent written correspondence that the vehicle was not registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles but yet continued collecting funds from my husband. In essence approximately $2,000 worth of coverage was purchased prior to my husband's demise illegally. On the monthly statement are two names - Insurance Loft and Progressive. This is even more puzzling but checks are sent to Progressive so I hold them to be accountable. However, I am sure each company will blame the other. And the infamous iconic Flo character continues to advertise "sprinkles are for winners". They are not "winners" in my book. I am going to continue until I am heard and reimbursed. Next, I will write my local news stations and file a complaint with the state attorney.

My daughter was rear-ended on the Ventura highway in California. The other driver was insured with Progressive, so we filed a claim with them. Everything was going great. She dropped the car off at a Progressive repair center and was given a rental. Then it went south from there. The amount of the damages was more than the other driver was covered for by about $500 to $1000. Progressive stopped the repairs and said they weren't going to do them. The Progressive client told Progressive he'd cover the difference, but they still denied.
Now I have to go though my insurance company (State Farm) to get these repairs done. I will have to take this driver to court to recoup the money for these repairs. Progressive even admitted on the phone that they add buffers into their estimates, which in this case took it over the maximum coverage. So in short, you better not get hit by someone with Progressive Insurance because they might not have sufficient coverage to repair the vehicles they hit.

I was involved in an accident in October of last year and progressive dropped me after 3 years of paying them at least $250-$300 a month regularly for car insurance. They are stating that #1 they could not verify my address and needed to know where the vehicles are being parked. #2 that since they don't have that information (all of a sudden) that they cannot renew our policy, even though they have done it on their own three to four times before. I just expected them to be there when I needed them most. I thought the reason you paid insurance was to have coverage in case of an accident. Call me crazy.

I don't have Progressive Insurance but a janxy young chap who hit my automobile does. Progressive was swift to get in contact with me and get my automobile fixed. While they were making repairs to my whip they gave me a nice, uppity rental and the entire process was over in a jiffy. The car came back clean as a whistle inside and out and they even repaired my broken mirror free-er than Nelson Mandela. In addition, they fitted me with a gift card to the nearest petroleum station to replenish the juices they had used when transporting my vehicle to the shop. Overall I was very impressed. They had the whole situation covered like a jimmy hat.

Progressive has to be the worst company that I have ever dealt with. They are not my insurance provider and they never will be after my current claim. I was rear-ended in my Toyota Tundra by a gentleman in a Toyota Yaris. His car was totaled without doubt. My truck had a smashed bumper, folded rear quarter panel, damage to the hitch, tailgate and bed. Nothing major and all primarily focused on the rear passenger side.
After 10 days of constantly calling Progressive and leaving messages and not knowing whether my truck was truly drivable or not (because they would not inspect it), I finally heard back from them. At that point I had left the local agent 9 voicemails, filed 5 complaints with their corporate office and sought council. The agent stated that the only reason they called me was because of my complaints. I explained that I didn't want to use my insurance company for fear of them possibly raising the rates even though it wasn't my fault. Once things began to get worked out, they demanded (not recommended) that I take my truck to the shop that they wanted because they prefer doing business with them. This is illegal in the state of California (if not everywhere).
After doing some research of local shops (because I am not from California and don't know the area well) I decided to try out their recommended shop. Progressive said that they set up a rental car for me through Enterprise and they would meet me at the shop. I arrived at the shop the following day only to learn that they had no idea that I was coming. I spent hours at the shop waiting on them to work things out with Progressive so that I could leave. On top of it, Enterprise had no idea I needed a car and was not ready to pick me up either.
It has been almost 2 weeks now since they started on my truck. I have gotten no updates (I requested daily updates and progress checks) and no time of when it should be ready. Again I have left countless voicemails for the agent and shop, and still no reply. Part of me wishes that I would have just claimed this all on my own policy so that it would have been handled better. At this point, a little extra cost is worth it.

Not the company you want if your car is totaled. What a shock to find out they don't use the NADA of Kelly Blue Book like reputable companies like State Farm use. Instead, they pay some company called Marshall's to use J.D. Powers to appraise your car. And then they electronically find some used cars for sale in your area and use those as a comparison, regardless of whether they meet the condition standards of your car. In our case, an immaculate, perfectly-maintained car was compared against 1 good car and a few real dogs, with no extra consideration even for ours having several brand new items (new brakes & tires in the past month).
If you like getting low-balled by a thousand dollars or more, Progressive is your company. And talking to them, at least the people I talked to, was pathetic. One adjuster actually told me that because I'm older and retired, things have changed a lot since I was in the swing of things. Flo, your company is not what you claim it is!

Upon leaving Michigan to be stationed in Connecticut, I had to get a new insurance policy and decided to acquire Progressive. I told them I still had a Michigan driver's license and my car was still registered to Michigan but I would be living and driving in CT. They said no problem, I would just have to be under a CT policy. Sweet.
A few months later I got a letter in the mail (at my CT residence) saying they were canceling my policy because I was living in Michigan but under a CT policy. WTF... I quickly called them and told them "I'm in the Navy, I'm stationed in CT, there's no active submarines in Michigan bla bla bla." They said "Sorry for the inconvenience." and they canceled canceling my policy. Yay...
A few months later I tell them "Hey, I'm going on a 6 month deployment. Can I change my policy to just stowage, I'll be leaving it in CT?" "Sure," they say. Excellent. In the middle of deployment we pull into Scotland where I check my email (no Internet access on submarines at sea) where I see a notification of cancellation saying I need to provide them with a CT address even though at the top of the email it has my name with my CT address. Upon returning home I see the letter in the mail... In CT... saying my policy has been canceled and is not renewable.
Besides horrible professionalism and bad customer service, let's talk common sense. Why would I lie about living in CT? Everything is more expensive in CT including car insurance. I should of just lied and said I was driving in MI still and it would of been cheaper and probably would still have insurance. Anyone think it's possible to sue these scammers?

Involved in a minor accident on May 4, 2015 in my CHEVROLET Silverado. Immediately contacted Progressive (customer for 15 years). Initiated claim process. I was contacted the following day and was told I had to take my vehicle to one of their preferred repair shops. Closest one was 19.8 miles away. This is a major metropolitan area! Took vehicle to a FORD body shop as instructed. Quote was using re-manufactured part, reusing one damaged part with negotiated reduced labor rates. Was also told there may need to be adjustments to the quote for hidden damage. When I asked Progressive (via email) how a chrome bumper could be re-manufactured, I received no response. I never told the representative I did not want to have the vehicle repaired.
Approximately four days later I received a check for the repairs minus my deductible. On May 25th, I received an email asking me to complete a customer satisfaction survey. I completed the survey. I received a call from a "manager" on May 26th. During the conversation, I was told I did not have to take my vehicle to the FORD shop, that I had other options. When I asked why these options were not explained, I was told the Progressive will not "list ten options" and let you choose one. I was not treated with respect by this "manager". He routinely spoke over me as I tried to talk.
He continually apologized for MY displeasure, yet never offered any resolution other than the "new" option of taking my vehicle to a body shop of my choice, but only with their adjuster present for the quote. I explained I had already gotten a quote and the quote they provided "didn't add up" when compared. Parts prices were inflated in the Progressive quote. I purchased a NEW replacement bumper for $100 less than the Progressive quote out of my pocket before the token settlement check was received.
Bottom Line - Progressive is not a company that I would recommend. I will have the vehicle repaired, document the repairs and transfer this vehicle to another company I already have vehicles insured with. All insurance companies are difficult. But once I am dissatisfied, I will no longer give them my business.

I have full coverage with Progressive and never have had any accidents. And I was driving home during a storm. Hit a pothole. Messed my car. I called in the claim. The rep gave me a rental car and said someone would be out to look at it tom. They never came out so I called back three days later and asked her why no one came. She said they had to investigate my claim since my policy was newer. I said fine. Gave them all my info witnesses numbers. She also told me she wasn't supposed to tell me any of this but that's why it took three days because they were already investigating my claim. Also I'd have to return the rental. I still said ok. Went along with everything.
Now they finally send someone out to look at my car. And he tells me that because the bottom of my car has rust that they aren't going to cover it. Because it could have happened eventually because of the rust even though he sees that it was caused by the pothole and even says it's not my fault. I explain that I bought the car about two months ago. Never had a problem with it plus it's inspected. If it passed inspection and is legal to drive on the road and I by law have to have insurance how can they not cover it? Because he thinks it could have happened later so I call back the investigator and all how I fight the claim. He tells me I can't. What they have decided stays.
So after about an half hour of rudeness I tell him "I'll be seeking legal help." He says "that's fine. I'm still going to be investigating though your claim being new on a policy." I tell him "the only reason it's new is because I just got the car." But I tell him "it's fine. I had nothing to hide." Soo day's the day I find out he charged me for the rental car they agreed to pay for even though I wasn't found at fault for anything. How is this right?

I needed to move my Progressive installment pay date, but unlike most major carriers, Progressive doesn't offer installment date choices in California. It cost me $50 in cancellation fee to change insurance companies. Progressive refused to prorate actual premium coverage costs. If you're considering Progressive and need to pay your premium in installments, make sure that your payment date is something that you can live with because they will not allow changes and moving to another insurance company before the policy term ends will cost you a $50 cancellation fee. A week later, I was informed by Progressive that they have not been able to contact their client and need to reach her to get her side of the story.
Three months later, after many calls and many complaints with the agent and his superiors, I was told by Progressive that due to their inability to reach their client by mail, phone, or "social media", they are cancelling her claim and in effect would render my claim default and I get no compensation. It is my belief that Progressive's failure to reach their client is not, nor should it be of any concern of mine. Their client willfully and intentionally avoided them and now I am left without a rear bumper which is a big financial burden to replace. It is Progressive's matter of concern as they are in the business of risk and risk assessment and it was their client that caused this accident and must pay for it.

I had Progressive Insurance for 6 years. I had a speeding ticket and a comprehensive claim. My insurance premiums jumped from 289 for 6 months to 440. I have never had an at fault accident in my 21 years of driving. Desperate for discounts I signed up for the Snapshot program. This is the worst idea ever. The program itself isn't bad but the penalty for hard braking is ridiculous. 7 MPH/SECOND is ridiculous to stay above. You basically have to coast, you can barely hit your brakes. The only way to avoid hard braking is to run yellow lights and stop signs, or driving below 25 mph.
I am really disgusted with this device. Every time the radio beeps I assume it is the device chastising me. The hard braking rule is retarded and unattainable unless you want to drive like you're 80 until someone gets road rage and runs you off the road. Be warned it is a ridiculous program. Progressive expects you to pay for insurance but if you use it they penalize you for it. The comprehensive claim was a deer running into my car. Yes I wanted it fixed, that's what I pay insurance for. I'm very disgusted and am switching companies because I feel like they are advantageous and they lie. The speeding ticket didn't give me outrageous rates with Geico - in fact I got a lot better coverage for 100 dollars less than Progressive could offer me. That's what I get for using the insurance I paid for, for 6 years.

Halfway through the next month, I got a notice that my insurance had been cancelled due to non-payment. They refused to tell me her name and refused to accept any responsibility for their mistake. I will never forgive them and I will never let anyone in my family buy insurance from them. The at fault driver then sees the police coming and then gets back in the car and floors it backwards and hits my bike again and the bike hits me. She fled the scene. Police caught up to her a month later and I I.d her in a photo line up. She never contacted her insurance.
I spend several days trying to locate her insurance company. (Progressive auto insurance) They tried to make contact with their at fault insured who is not cooperating with the insurance rep. We've had policies with Progressive for 3 years, multiple vehicles and renter's. So, when we bought a farm, we let Progressive know that we would need to change the policy, and they said it was all fine. Money changed hands, we officially owned the farm, and Progressive told us it was insured. I'm disgusted that the only reason I found out they were planning to cancel the policy is that I got a letter saying if we didn't sign and send back this additional form, the policy would be cancelled in 10 days time. The letter was dated April 24, I received it in the mail on May 7.
My husband called, and that's how we found out that they were planning to cancel the policy regardless of any action we took. They had a few "reasons," none that really made much sense, but the worst was the chicken coop. According to Progressive, they cannot insure any farm property that has animals. Although we don't yet have chickens, we were told we would need to "remove the chicken coop as it presented a risk that we may be tempted to have chickens." If we have a single chicken on our rural farm property, it renders our farm insurance void. Their suggested solution was to get quotes from other companies. We have, and we will be canceling all our business with Progressive shortly.

Then my transmission pan was cracked and transmission fluid leaked everywhere. Progressive told me that was a pre-existing condition! How does a car run without transmission fluid? The next disaster was my front grill was also cracked and damaged and they told me that was also pre-existing. The claimant began on March 12. I then took the camper to a respected repair facility and they said no, it wasn't storm damage, but was collision with low hanging tree branches in camper parks. They see this all the time in our area. They suggested calling Progressive and having them send someone from the collision department to take a 2nd look. I did but requested someone other than the last person to talk to as that person told me women shouldn't have campers if they can't care for them?!
I have family and friends help with all maintenance and can do some work myself. This is NOT a maintenance issue. The Progressive Representative even told the repair shop to fix it until they were told there was no way to fix it correctly. As soon as I hit the snowbank my adaptive headlight function immediately quit working and the halo as well. I processed a claim with progressive and set up an appointment to get the car fixed. The adjuster told me they would replace the entire headlight because of the damage. Note the light costs 2200 and is no easy expense to me. Upon tear down of my vehicle the tech noticed that the halo cover had a pinhole in it and was assumed that the problem was my fault and the adjuster called me and wanted to tell me that he wouldn't take care of the headlight upon noticing this.
However, how is it possible for these lights to work with no moisture problems and no issues for four months and then literally the day I hit something it starts leaking but that all must be my fault. I was so frustrated I wasn't thinking. I should have come up to the shop and looked myself being a tech myself and verified the quote on quote issue. But regardless I told the shop to put the car back together and I would pick it up. When I went to pick the car up I asked for an estimate, there was none. I then started my car and the headlight that was lighting up when I took the car there was not working and underneath the splash guard for the headlight was missing and the headlight cover was broken and floating around in there.
I was so very frustrated that I left and called claims and reported all that had happened. I was told this would be resolved and I would get a phone call in 24hrs. It has been a week now still no phone call. I am not asking for a million dollars and am not trying to get something for nothing. I am trying to go about the insurance claim the right way but I can't get any help. The fact of the matter is I got in an accident and the car needs to be fixed on progressive’s wallet not mine. I had an accident on January 25th 2015 in my vehicle and Progressive Insurance decided to investigate the claim. Fair Enough. They then asked me to make two recorded interviews and send forensic "yes - forensic investigators" and a Nissan specialist to look over the car. Once reports came back that the brakes were worn more than they should, they simply denied the claim.
The vehicle was serviced on regular basis and I have a report from qualified mechanic stating that brakes were still serviceable. The car overall was in good condition - according to forensic investigators. I have never been involved in a total write off collision. After reviewing my records and phone bills they saw that I am a law abiding citizen and not a fraud.
So Progressive insurance I will now demand all my money back for all the years you have been insuring me for and seek legal representation in court. This company does things with evil intent. In 2010 I got hurt badly, the guy had no insurance. We notified progressive on time. We had to go to court against the tortfeasor. I won a judgement against the tortfeasor. We gave them proof that the tortfeasor had no insurance which triggered my UM/UIM. All this time no investigation, no depositions. The driver whose car I was into did not have insurance, but her insurance said that at the time of accident she was covered so they tendered their share, and progressive told us that they could not pay until Dairyland paid their share. Right after we got that settlement we presented progressive with that and the judgement against the tortfeasor. At this point i received a lot of treatment for my shoulder, i was told that i would need a replacement right away. I was 38 years old.
We try to negotiate with them but they refused. Their adjusters never showed up to meetings that agreed to. At some point they sent an investigator to the woman whose insurance paid a portion of my UM/UIM. Even that investigator questioned their motives, because if dairyland paid why was he there to investigate something that was already settled. In Connecticut the law says that you cannot file anything against your own insurance until you are done with all other companies and that there are no other insurances out there. The point is progressive told us to deal with the other company first and then they would pay their part. That was the worst decision, believing these crooks.
One of the adjusters called and told me that they will pay me if i get rid of my attorney, so I did. Two days later i received a letter stating that the statute of limitations had expired, therefore they were not responsible for anything and that if i have a problem i would need to call insurance commissioner and their department. So i rehire my attorney, then he filed the lawsuit. Since the lawsuit was filed they are using everything in order to stall. As usual they hire this law firm Deluca to fight us every step of the way. When i am suffering, my shoulder is no good. I am still in a lot of pain. I will have to go back and redo this replacement. I can't even buy my daughter lunch at school. I can't reach for a coffee at dunkin donuts. There are a lot of things that have change in my life because of this company. They are doing it on purpose. Even their own representative ** thought this was wrong.
This is a breach of contract and they have been doing it to a lot of people. In the process families are being destroyed. They have destroyed me in so many ways. Now in their last motion they are saying that i was not covered and they compare me to a dog, but i was less valuable than the dog because they said that they would pay a thousand dollars for the dog. This is not right nor fair so I am asking for help. They love to take my money, plus they had to reimburse me for so many months because after the car was gone, they were still charging me. It was a fight to get some of that money back. Now i am hurt and i had coverage but i have to suffer. I can't pay my copays. I have to pick and choose which medicine is more appropriate, all this is cause by progressive insurance.
Updated on 09/15/2015:
Today is one day that I will never forget. Well, back in April I wrote a story about Progressive Insurance breach of contract. I took the advice of my attorney and agreed to sit into a mediation. This is one of those things that you are out of words. Bottom line is that Progressive Insurance is playing a game with my life and my future. They came there to save face and to learn things about the case in order to screw me. First we were never introduced, I was told to sit in a room for a few hours. My attorney disappeared for a while and then he came back with the mediator. I heard one thing today, whatever they offer me would be the only offer. Well people lets see, I have a 100/300 policy, I have a shoulder replacement plus about $125000 in medical bills and the offer was low. After five years of suffering, this company is still using tactics that are considered bad faith and there was no explanation for their offer.
They throw everything at me, special defenses, motion to strike and the last one is a motion for summary judgement claiming that there is a statute of limitations. Well let's see, they got a letter for arbitration, they got the information on the other insurance, they never investigate, they refused to answer discoveries and interrogatories, they never had a deposition in the case, really, all was done step by step and on time. The last thing the adjuster did was that she asked settle the case with me so I tried that, then that same investigator wrote me a letter stating that we can't settle this case because of the statute of limitations. My attorney had meetings with her and she did not show up.
Well today I was told about everything that is wrong with my case and that the middle man was trying to put some money in my pocket. They are refusing to pay the claim, they failed to deny my claim within the reasonable time and they start using the words barred by the statute of limitations. They have done so many things in order to hurt my case. Their adjuster told me to fire my attorney then the case would be settled, she turned around and wrote a letter stating that they had no obligations to pay because of time.
The motion for summary judgement is pending, suddenly they wanted to try mediation. This was a way to put a hold on the case and to find out if I was serious about moving the case forward. I have been dealing with this stress for a long time, every time I hear something about this case I get so stressed out, the anxiety it brings is hurting me, my family and friends, I have to suffer because of PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE.
Today I noticed everyone I saw did not have much to say because, they know what happened, my face says it all. I don't have the strength to participate in any sports activities, I can't even make a layup with my left hand, I love volleyball and I was great at it, sometimes I want to set the ball but I can't. I can't have fun with my kids, I promised my daughter that I would teach her how to play volleyball, since I was great at it. I can't do that now, the limitations I have with this new shoulder has a lot to do with this and it's painful.
People this is no joke, dealing with these issues is serious, at times you feel that no one is listening and care. Progressive refused to make an offer, this could have been over a long time ago. This is five years and there was a time that a settlement was reachable. They chose to fight me instead, they lowball me, they are using every dirty tricks in the book and once I am defeated, I will take whatever they throw at me.
This could be you, remember that. We pay insurances to have our backs. Why they are getting richer by the minute and the more coverage they deny, it's billions of dollars in profit. People, remember it is mandatory that we carry insurance, so it should be the same way with Progressive and all other insurance companies. Tonight, I will be thinking about this and not knowing what they will do, scares me a lot. I am in pain and the cold is not friendly. Progressive: it's time you do the right thing. This is why people should get familiar with their civic duties because only in a courtroom you will get a chance to right the wrong and apply the law. Thank you very much.

I went to the store and parked my van in the parking lot, when I came out of the store my car was damaged - there was damage to the front bumper, the windshield, and the passenger door, so I reported the claim. I dropped my van off at the shop so the insurance adjuster could look at it. When he called me back he told me that there was no way the damage was done at the same time because of where the damage was done on the van. I told him that there was no damage prior to me going in the store, he said well there's no way he could cover it under one claim. I needed to report two more claims - one for each damage on the van.
I told him it did happen at the same time and there was no way I was making another claim. He said, "Well I don't know what to tell you but I am not covering this under one claim." So they forced me to make a second claim that was the only way to get my van fixed. They have been treating me like crap, I even talked with his supervisor and he said the same thing. Every time I call to talk to someone higher up in the company they transfer me to the same people and I get the same treatment.
I have been with Progressive for over three years and never missed one payment and this is how I get treated. I would like someone from corporate to contact me please - I am getting nowhere with the people I keep talking with. They have me very stressed out. I threatened to leave Progressive when the contract was up and he said No need to wait basically telling me they could care less!!! Not sure how the damage happened, Plows in the lot or vandalism but either way they called me a liar as well. Not very happy at the moment with them!!!

Progressive Insurance did not care about maintaining their level of service and values. I was a customer of Progressive for a little over 3 years. When I first sign up with Progressive Insurance, they gave me quotes but they did not tell me that I will have to pay for every renewal fees. I thought that was strange but continue making my payments. After being with Progressive soup for 3 years and had maintain a clean driving record, they still couldn't give me a better rate. I found another insurance which of course offer me a better rate, told me upfront of hidden cost which are none. In this case, Progressive failed to disclosure hidden costs with me - renewal fees, $50.00 cancellation fee.
When I question about the cancellation fee, the supervisor told me it's mobile cancellation fees, "Did you read it? Underneath policy...fine line." Really? But even mobile has a 2 years agreement for early termination fee. In which Progressive case, it didn't matter how long you've been with them, you will be charge anyways. I will not recommend this insurance company to anyone and FLO is fake.

I was paying about 121.00 USD a month on a leased car. At no point did they let me know I did not have collision coverage, until I got into a car accident. They blamed my car dealership for not setting up collision coverage. Isn't it absolutely required to have collision coverage on a leased car since the bank owns it? My friend had a similar experience as well with this company, where they dropped his collision coverage without even notifying him. All in all, save yourself the headache and money and use another company for your insurance. This company does not care about their customers. I'm so happy that on my new car I am using a different insurance company who provides me with great coverage.

I asked what happened and was told the insurance in Detroit went up (if that is not redlining I don't know what is). I canceled 8 days later and was told I would receive a refund of $102.00. They had just taken the $206 payment 8 days before I canceled. Why should they be able to keep $104 of my money. I have an excellent driving record also. They were just going to give me $93.00 because the customer rep said they charge a fee to cancel. I told him they were full of it, he put me on hold and came back to say I would get $102. I switched to Progressive when I moved to CA, because they offered better CA rates than my previous insurance company. Two years with Progressive. NO claims. NO accidents. Still, my premiums kept creeping up. All of my previous insurers rewarded good driving records with rate decreases; I've NEVER been with an insurance company who increased rates after years of good driving - until now.
Last fall I got pinched with a bogus ticket for a turn. I tried to contest it, but well, California. So now it's on my driving record. ONE ticket for a turn - no speeding - no accidents - no prior tickets. Progressive raises my 6 month premium by $200. I spoke with an agent who told me that Progressive insurance points are 3 for ANY moving violation. DUIs are 4. Wait, what??? An improper turn, even if it wasn't fabricated by the officer, is ONE POINT less than a DUI??? The agent's response, "Yeah. Unfortunately, that's how it is." Progressive would rather lose me as a customer, than try to work with me on the ridiculous and unwarranted rate increase. In December of 2014, my wife was parked at our daughter’s bus stop. A neighbor parked his car right on top of my wife's bumper, blocking her in. When she tried to leave, she put her car in reverse and took her foot off the brake, which caused her car to roll approximately 9 inches into the man's bumper. Both parties checked their vehicles and agreed there was no damage. Well unfortunately for us, that's where our nightmare began!! The man decided that he wanted to exchange papers "just in case his bumper is misplaced" (clearly a scam in the making, but my wife was too naive to take photos!!) What do you know, two days later her phone rings, and it’s the scammer’s insurance company! After telling the agent what had happened, the agent then proceeded to basically tell my wife in so many words that this man has 2 other claims like this on his record!!
My wife contacted Progressive and informed them of the bogus claim and stated that she would like to be present when the adjuster looked at his car. Well 2 months later we get a "surcharge notice" in the mail. Progressive went ahead and paid the claim without even speaking to my wife!! My wife called the Progressive claims rep, and was told that they paid the claim in the amount of $1700. My wife asked the rep why she didn't contact her when she went to look at the other party’s car. She stated that she never saw his car, so my wife asks "well what did the photos show then, which was met with, "I didn't see any photos!!” Ok, we are confused!!! How did you determine that there was in fact damage, and how did you arrive at the total??
The claims rep stated that she paid the claim based on a claim submitted to her by Commerce insurance. "There was no need to see the car, they are a very respected insurance company.” HUH!!! SAY WHAT??! So basically any insurance company can submit a damage claim to Progressive without an adjuster seeing the damage in person or by photo?? Excuse me, but what the hell kind of business practice is that?? Why do we pay you, aren't you supposed to advocate for us?? After several phone calls/arguments with the losers in the Progressive claims department, we finally admitted defeat!!
Here's the next bag job they dropped on us!!! My wife had a perfect driving record before the incident, and actually received safe driver discounts on her policy. Well lo and behold, one minor accident, which wasn't even on the road, caused our monthly insurance payment to go from $210 to $426 per month!! CALL THE POLICE, WE ARE BEING ROBBED!! So on the phone we go with Progressive's ever so rude policy department!!! In Mass a minor accident is assessed 3 points, but we were informed by yet another ignorant Progressive customer service rep, that she would be assessed 5 points!! We were told that Progressive has their own points system! So get this, a driver with a perfect driving record that bumps another driver's vehicle in a parking space, causing her first, very minor accident in 20 years, is expected to pay $4992 per year for car insurance by Progressive!!
Is this America or Siberia?? How does our government allow such a big corporation to get away with this crap?? SEE YA YOU PRICE GOUGING LOSERS!! GOT A POLICY WITH GEICO FOR LESS THAN WE WERE PAYING PRE ACCIDENT!! I STRONGLY URGE ALL DRIVERS TO AVOID PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE CO, AND DON'T BUY INTO THEIR FALSE ADVERTISING!!

Got rear ended by a Progressive insured driver. Progressive totaled vehicle out unexpectedly (frame was not bent, adjuster just gave a ridiculously overpriced quote to fix it so he could be lazy and make the process easier for him), was told to turn my rental car in the VERY next day (keep in mind, my car was already totaled, sitting at the body shop with the trunk completely smashed in and the front bumper which only had 2 small cracks on it from the wreck, completely pulled off and sitting in the trunk) so I had no transportation to and from my full time job. The ONLY nice thing that the adjuster did for me was let me keep the car for one more day due to the fact that I wouldn't let him hear the end of it when I found out I had absolutely no transportation options.
Luckily my dad was going out of town for a few days and let me borrow his truck, but what I didn't know is that when I first got the rental car, I went ahead and put it on my insurance because Progressive couldn't send any information into Enterprise until after they looked at my car (which also took almost 5 days for him to go out to look at it) and I have a renter's insurance option with my insurance provider as well. The adjuster was supposed to call and switch the rental over into Progressive's hands and take it off of mine, but he did not and told me that I had to do it. So I had to take off work, go all the way to Enterprise, wait almost 30 mins since it was pretty packed and found out that it was not my responsibility to change it over and if I didn't change it over/or the adjuster calling to change it over that it would've still been under my insurance and I could've kept it longer without stressing out to find a new car. Hmmm.
When the adjuster called to tell me that my car was totaled (which was also 3 days overdue) I gave him my dad's information so he could call him and just GIVE him the details of the claim because I just started a new job and it was my first day. He talked to my dad that night, told him the value they were willing to pay and tried to settle with him, which my dad then told him that he could not settle because he is not the owner of the car and that he would give the info to me and I would contact him back. Well I contacted him back and told that he needs to contact my bank where my car is financed through to get my pay off.
When I told him what my payoff was, he was surprised because he thought my dad told him my payoff was way less than what it actually was, again my dad is not the owner of the car, he has no access to my account where the car is financed, so therefore my dad did not tell him any kind of numbers on my car. He lied, then took 3 weeks to get in touch with my bank, which I still had no car because my bank couldn't refinance me until Progressive paid off my car. Spent countless hours at the bank just to be told that.
So about two weeks ago, the adjuster called me and told me to go to a local branch to sign some papers, DID NOT mention what kind of papers, so I drove all the way there just I find out that he was trying to trick me into signing Power of Attorney papers without even knowing my pay off. After the office assistant tried to reach him for maybe about an hour, she finally came back with the faxed over pay off info from my bank and told me they're shorting $2100 of my pay off. I told her I couldn't accept and left.
The responsible driver for the wreck is a close friend of mine. I'm not mad at him because I understand accidents happen especially in heavy traffic where there are actual bad drivers present, but the adjuster has told him 30000 different stories about how I'm getting 'taken care of' and what not. I have not responded back to the adjuster because I have underwent surgery recently and just not in the mode to hear him lie to me again. He has sent a letter to my house in the meantime saying that he is going to start taking out money out of my settlement check for 'storage fees'. Like I said, my car is totaled, the body shop has my keys and is not going to give me my car to take so I can 'STORE' it somewhere else. The threat let alone falls under bad faith claims. I could easily get an attorney and sue them for more than what I actually need to pay off my car and also with the lying and not returning my phone calls for days at a time.
After I threatened him with the 'sue' word, he called me and my friend back the next day, talked to him first, which I was present and said 'We're going to get her taken care of. If she doesn't agree with what we have decided to pay her then we will allow her to pitch us a number and work something out with her to get her closer to her pay off.' THEN turns around and calls me and leaves a voice mail threatening again about the storage fees and then saying that if I am unhappy about the settlement offer then I should turn the claim into my insurance company and have them pay it off.
It wasn't my fault, it's not my insurance's responsibility to do anything and a few years ago I was in a previous wreck where the faulted driver lied to cover her own self and said it was my fault, so it was her word against mine until proven it was her fault months later. My insurance company went ahead and paid my car off down to every penny even though the Kelley Blue Book 'value' was different than the amount left financed.
I am now having after wreck injury symptoms so I'm having to go to the hospital to get checked out. I'm sure the adjuster will ** around with me then too and if he does I will just get a personal injury lawyer and sue them for way more than what it's worth. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND Progressive. Their customer service doesn't care, their adjusters don't care, their managers don't call you back or care. All they care about is Flo and their stupid, childish commercials.Obviously you get what you pay for and my friend is dropping them when it's all over. Do yourself a favor, if you get in a wreck with a Progressive insured driver, go ahead and hire an attorney because you're going to be doing the adjuster's job and super stressed at the end.

I was rear-ended by an uninsured driver totaling my car and causing me major medical problems. I was stopped in traffic and there were plenty of witnesses. It was 10:00 AM and I could see this idiot coming in my rear view mirror. He had his eyes closed and was kissing his girlfriend while driving about (police estimate) 60 miles an hour in a 35 mph zone.
He had no license and no insurance and was driving a borrowed pick-up truck with no insurance! When I called my agent to report the accident she told me that I would have to pay all the expenses despite my having full coverage or they would have to raise my rate! And raise my rate they did... to $4,000 a year for two 40ish drivers with spotless records who owned their home with no mortgage! I had to sue Progressive to get them to pay a single penny and lower my insurance rates back where they were! I had paid these ** year after year and never had a claim!
It took my attorney 6 years to get an arbitrated settlement which was half what it should have been! Years later I still suffer from the injuries sustained in that accident. I rented a car for about 6 weeks and despite the fact I had rental coverage Progressive refused to pay for my cheapo rental and never gave me a reason!
The arbitrator asked me how about my pain and later told me that I should not have said it was 10 times worse or 100% worse and never to use numbers when asked how much worse your pain is! If you had no pain prior to the accident would it not be 100% worse? If you are ever in an accident remember not to use numbers when describing your pain to an arbitrator!

From what I have learned from the private insurance adjuster that I have hired is that the adjuster from the Insurance company agrees that the claim should be paid but the manager is holding on and the manager keeps asking for the same documents over and over again. When the private insurance adjuster I hired informed them that we will now file a complaint against them since it is being stalled for no reason, the adjuster from the insurance company asked to wait for 2 more weeks. It has been over a month and yet they have not gotten back. I am out of the house for more than a year now and extremely frustrated with them. I WILL NEVER EVER HAVE PROGRESSIVE AS MY INSURANCE CARRIER.

After I spoke to one of the representatives I explain not to move forward with anything unless he has my authorization. They disregarded my request put in a claim for $695.00 holding me responsible to pay my deductible of $500.00. Now you know that would not be worth filing and being penalized. What was adding more insult, they quickly paid the shop the $195.00 still while investigating the claim. At this time I'm very displease with their services.

I had a vehicle shipped with a carrier covered under Progressive Mutual insurance. The vehicle was damaged beyond practical repairs. Since the car was a rare car and I wanted to keep and deal with the damages myself, I informed **, the claims adjuster for Progressive, I would accept a lower settlement and keep the car. My claim # was ** and should have been for the complete loss of $6,000. I was willing to accept $1,500 and the car but ** informed me they would not cover my claim because of a secret clause Progressive had written in their policy. (That's right, secret and she couldn't tell me what it was because of privacy reasons).
I had another policy on other cars with J.C. Taylor (Foremost Insurance) who covered my loss and then went after the carrier who was insured with Progressive. I would never recommend Progressive insurance to anyone. Check their reviews, I think this is standard practice for them. Flo probably has a lot of hidden secrets (don't ask, don't tell).

When applying for Car insurance, I was quoted a good price with a down payment required, not going towards any additional months on the policy. I went to pay my bill online today and after I submitted it, it had a new remaining balance and my future payments due doubled. I called them and asked what was going on and they said they had to add some things to the coverage. I could not believe it, considering the down payment I already put down, I was mad. I asked that they would cancel my payment I just made and my policy. They would not refund me the payment I made just minutes before and I did not get my down payment back. I have paid them nearly over 300 in 2 months. This is so ridiculous.

I am covered by Progressive for Roadside Service. Never again. I got out of class at 2:30 p.m. and noticed I had a flat tire. I ease in a parking garage but had to drive the car out because of continued fees (they did not care my tire was flat). Good thing I did because a tow truck did not come until 7:30 p.m. So for about 5 hours I sat in my car in 14 below zero weather. But first before the tow truck, they send over two guys from some company who showed up in their personal car. (I was told they were going to use my phone to pinpoint my location.) They were lost for almost 2 hours. Then when the guy approach me, I could smell weed all over him and could tell he was high. He supposedly attempted to take the tire off but told me the lug was stripped and had to be burned off. They drove off leaving spare tire and jack laying in the snow.
3 hours later a tow truck comes and the guy is screaming at me saying it's cold and he is not waiting around because the jack was under my car where someone was trying to help me. I'm a woman that had no idea how to change the tire. I tried explaining I was desperate and cold. It was now dark. He called his office and the secretary wanted to speak to me. She is telling me her guy is there to tow my car not fix my tire. I told her I did not ask him to fix the tire because I was told the tire could not come off. She then says, "Well if you tip him he will fix it." So the service I am covered under, charges me $25.00 to fix my tire (which by the way came off in a zip).
Now before this episode I changed states 2 months ago. The rep that did the change told me I had to pay a month up front to change which I did. Okay I was told everything is set my old policy was canceled and a new policy setup with the new address and state change. Now, I get home at 8:30 that night to find a letter from a collection agency that says I owe Progressive $85.41! A collection agency? Really? I call Progressive. I am livid by this point. It was unfair to send notice to the collection agency but I owed a balance on the previous policy. Did the rep tell me that that was changing my policy? NO!!! Well I canceled their roadside assistance and going to make sure I owe them nothing, and find me another insurance company. Do yourselves a favor and STAY AWAY FROM PROGRESSIVE. They are the worse!

I have been contacting Progressive since late July in order to park my son in a non-driver status since he is far away at school with no access to a car. Progressive claims to have "lost" or have no record of the form which has been sent 3 times. Instead of the huge refund I should be receiving, Progressive's inept processing has resulted in a cancellation of my policy.
On that front, Progressive claims to have sent out a notice of cancellation on February 2nd, which was not received. No email notices were received at all except on February 20th when I receive a notice that the policy is cancelled. Why not send an email notice prior to cancellation, not one day after. Clearly, they do not wish to give me the refund for my son and simply want to get rid of us as customers. I am supposedly a preferred customer, really? How many phone calls and form submissions should I need to make for Progressive to do the job on their end?

The prior employee had it right, they tell you that you are their top concern but then when you file a claim you really are treated like a felon, even if the accident wasn't your fault. I was paying over 200 every month for a full coverage plan but I had bought a different car and assumed that I had the standard 30 days to switch over my policy. Well I had had the car for less than a week before some stupid kid ran a stop sign and caused a multiple car accident. Of course I wasn't at fault and Progressive would not have been monetarily responsible in any way for my claim, in fact I was happy with what the guy's company offered. However one day after I filed the claim an agent called me and told me that they needed to take a recorded statement.
During that time they asked me how long I had had the vehicle and if I had a bill of sale. I told them that I did have a bill of sale and explained that I had had the car about a week. They said everything was fine but I would need to turn in my bill of sale. I turned it and thought everything was fine. A few months later I got a letter in the mail saying that my licence would be suspended for a year for not having insurance. I thought this was just a mistake so I called them to clear everything up. They told me that what I sent them was just a hand written receipt and not a bill of sale so they do not have to extend me coverage.
I called the dmv and they were highly sympathetic saying that even they will accept a hand written bill of sale but that it would really tough to fight such a big company. I was a single mom at the time and not having my license cost me about half of my income as a big part of my job was going to trade shows. Plus I had to pay a huge fine, reinstatement fee, take a hit on my license and carry an S-R-22 for the next 3 years. I didn't even do anything wrong. I paid my bill like I'm supposed to and yet I have this awful thing on my record and no way to fight it. I absolutely HATE this company and would recommend that everyone stay FAR FAR AWAY.

I was recently rear-ended by another driver and the force of the impact pushed me about 10-15 feet forward into an SUV. It wound up being a four-car accident but no one was seriously injured, thankfully. I had my car towed to my dealership's body shop and filed a claim with Progressive (both my insurance company at the time and the driver who hit me).
About a week later, I get a call from the body shop letting me know that they are moving forward with the repair and gave me an ETA. A few days after that, I got another call from the body shop and the adjuster, stating that they had decided to declare the car a total loss. When I called the adjuster to find out what had changed, she explained that the costs of the repairs were going to exceed the threshold of their formula so they opted to declare a total loss.
This is where it gets really frustrating. Their formula used an amount $2,000-2,300 less than Kelley Blue Book and NADA evaluations for my car. Using that low number caused the threshold to be exceeded by ~ $300. Had they used a fair valuation instead, the amount would have been under the limit and they would have repaired my car.
I showed them the KBB and NADA valuations and they dismissed them stating that they didn't use those services. I then showed them that the cars and websites that they referenced on their valuation report didn't exist so I was unable to verify that those vehicles had the same options as my car. The answer was the same every time, 'we feel that we have given you a fair evaluation of your vehicle.' They refused to increase their settlement offer so I've hired an appraisal service and am forcing them into the mediation process.
A couple of points to consider: This accident was not my fault - a fact that the insurance company agrees with completely. At the time of the accident, my annual premiums paid to Progressive were over $5,000 for my household (three cars). Despite those facts, they refuse to provide me with a fair settlement and now I have to fight them tooth and nail. I have no car and no settlement. Needless to say I am no longer a Progressive customer and I'll never make that mistake again. If you are considering them as your insurance provider, keep looking.

The lady claimed it was my son's fault and requested an ambulance due to pain. The police officer went to her cruiser and was able to review the accident on a traffic camera clearly indicating that my son was not at fault. The lady was sited for being at fault and ticketed. If she was at fault wouldn't you think at fault is at fault?
The ambulance arrived and suddenly she felt better and declined the ambulances services. Would you be able to place a percentage on how much at fault she is? I didn't even consider the idea of a percentage factor when determining fault. What if someone was to commit a crime? Could it be argued that it could be 20% the stores fault for having money on the premises thus not being 100% the burglar’s fault even though they broke in and committed the crime? What if you were driving along and someone pulled out and hit you? The police cited/ticketed the other driver claiming you were NOT at fault. The persons insurance company (Progressive) that hit you said that the accident was at least 30% your fault just because you were "there? "
Progressive spoke to the responding officer verifying that the accident was not my son's fault. Progressive even requested a copy of the traffic cam video clearly showing my son driving in his lane and being struck by the other driver... What would you do? For 6 weeks I drove a very damaged & misaligned vehicle with airbag warnings blinking. It was not until I informed Progressive that I had spoken with my lawyer that they suddenly happily offered me a rental car and an appointment with a repair shop. My car was repaired, however, I have a small bill for x-rays & chiropractic care for whiplash. I began getting the same runaround as before, but this time from a very rude and aggressive Progressive representative. Every time she contacted me, she used a completely unprofessional, angry, impatient and accusatory tone.
After denying payment in one breath, she then made an offer to settle for a small amount of money in the next breath (coincidentally, once my lawyer's name came up again). I was fine with the small amount, as long as it covered the bill. I requested that she send me that offer in writing before I spoke to her any further over the phone. That simple request sent her into an emotionally-fueled screaming fit about how insulted she was that I didn't "take her word for it". That was just...odd, not to mention highly unprofessional. "The word" of an invisible angry stranger over the phone wouldn't exactly hold up in court later if any misunderstandings arose.
I contacted her supervisor immediately afterward, who seemed uninterested and unconcerned by her behavior. I have since read many reviews of unprofessional and rude Progressive representatives, so obviously customer service and common sense just aren't a priority there, unfortunately. Meanwhile, my truck sat in a storage yard at $50 a day! When I finally was able to talk to a claims rep, they were like, "Oh, you should get the truck out of there." I said "well have you sent an estimator out to look at it yet??" NOPE. So I do my part and get the truck towed to my address, an estimator doesn't come out to look at it for ANOTHER SIX DAYS. I was promised (in recording) to be reimbursed for the storage fee up through Jan 6th, which is when I got the truck out of there. Then, the estimator decides my truck is only worth less than HALF of what it actually is, and they somehow decide I am 40% at fault (WHAT?!) for the accident. So even in the measly settlement they are offering me, I will only get 60% of that, including the storage fee! I think not!
Keep in mind the accident report clearly states I had no contributing factor to the accident and was doing the speed limit. Now for the real kicker.... the claims rep tells me there's a "guard rail issue" and it could hold up the claim for 60-90 days (the report says PENNDOT maintenance was not notified) I CALL **. So I decide to get my lawyer involved. She calls them on 1/20/2015 and they don't call her back until 1/28/2015.... conveniently after business hours. So this fight continues....
I have spent HOURS trying to get what is rightfully mine and have never dealt with a ruder, more incompetent bunch of people in my life. I have phone calls into headquarters, left bad reviews on Yelp, on this site, their Facebook page - talked to anyone who would listen, I've been sweet and cooperative, and I've been angry and totally flipped out. NOTHING HELPS. My next step is to report insurance fraud. I'm at my wit's end, but WILL NOT give up. The only thing I know for sure, is I will NEVER carry, recommend, or stop trashing Progressive Insurance, and I hope people can take my advice and experience with them and stay far, far away. Good luck to the person who has an accident with someone who uses Progressive, because they'll need it!!

And after two days I called them, they say 352, and third they say 390 and 4th time they say 450. This is crazy with same coverage and different Customer Service. They didn't give you any discount whenever you renew your policy too, even you didn't make any accidents.

I bought a car from my friend in November 2014. It was in the shop with overheating issues and was diagnosed with possible blown head gasket. Engine replacement was recommended. It also had a bad wheel bearing. She opted to buy new vehicle rather than repair this one. I paid the mechanic $300 to release the car with fixed wheel bearing and replaced the head gasket myself over the course of a month. Parts, title, and registration and for less than $1000 I had a like new car.
From day one of taking possession I added the car onto progressive liability. I've been a customer since 2008. After the repairs on the vehicle and I determined it was to be my daily driver, I installed some audio equipment using a local install shop. I went home that Sunday evening after the install and while laying in bed thought it’s possible thieves in my south side Chicago neighborhood probably love my new toys as much as I do. I went ahead and changed the policy to collision /comprehensive and paid the balance.
Exactly 4 days later while traveling to my friend's house (the lady who sold me the car), I hit a deer. I was on a dark road at 10 pm in sub freezing temps. The car had some damage that I could see but kept running like nothing so I continued on the 2 miles to her house and pulled in the driveway. The shock of what i saw still sits in my mind. The car was destroyed. Thinking to myself, "What's the point of a police report?" It’s a deer. It didn't even die. It ran away. There are blood and fur everywhere. I’m good.
Call progressive the next morning. File claim. Obviously a red flag. I just changed the policy. I get it. But all my ducks are in a row. They send an adjuster 2 weeks later to view the car. By now the rain and snow have washed away the blood. The car is deemed total loss. Weeks later and after all holidays are finally over, and after submitting pictures and receipts for parts, audio equipment etc. my claim is denied. They need video surveillance of my car from somewhere, showing that between policy date change and claim, my car was intact.
Sounds reasonable had it happened 2 days ago. But since they stalled my claim 2 weeks to inspect, and another 3 to have their vacations and holidays, where am I supposed to find this video surveillance? Who is going to have that archived? Gas station? I don’t use a drive up bank. And if I did Chase is just going to go in the server room and make me a copy of their surveillance video from an almost 2 months ago? I think not.
The investigator made comments pertaining to my relationship to the woman I bought the vehicle from. Asked why I was going to see a woman late at night and if my wife knew. He then called my wife and asked her if she knew I was going to see another woman when I hit a deer. He also flat out said that progressive is having a hard time believing that my car was ever drivable, and that I bought a totaled car and am now fraudulently squeezing then for repair/replacement money.
This whole experience has been frustrating and I will never see a dime. Not a good feeling getting forced by law to get extorted by a company that calls you a liar and doesn't even have to prove it to deny you coverage. Stay far away from these crooks if you know what’s good for you.

I switched to Progressive from Asher's insurance, because I got a quote that was $10 less than I was originally paying. Therefore I switched and was paying like $50. Not bad. Well 6 months later I got a letter saying I owe $240. I call to ask what it was for. They said I never signed the papers and I can't remember what they were called but I never did receive any papers. I went ahead and faxed it over and all and still had to pay it.
Then now I got a new car and insurance went up but that's not the issue. It's been 12 days and they still haven't got their money out and it said it did. But bank says otherwise and they declined my payment. I believe if I'm going to hold onto their money that long maybe I should charge interest to them. It never showed up in the bank that it even was pending when the money was in there. I wouldn't suggest them to anyone...even someone I didn't like.

I have been with Progressive for about 3 years now. I have three vehicles on my policy. I was in a car accident where the other vehicle hit me and then fled the scene. I called in the claim that night. They contacted me back the next day to get my repairs started. They gave me the option to go to my own shop of choice or just drop my vehicle off to their Progressive center where they will handle all the work and my rental car will be waiting for me when I arrive. The worst mistake of my life.
I should have taken my vehicle to a shop of my own. After about a week and a half they call me to tell me my vehicle is ready. I do an inspection over the damage side of the vehicle and I can still see paint transfer on my vehicle from the accident. My car is black and the other car was white. They are telling me that it is probably unlikely that the white paint came during the accident and that it's normal wear and tear on the vehicle. So they refuse to fix the area.
I know my vehicle did not have white paint transfer on it before the accident so it happened during the accident or when they took apart my vehicle to do so called repairs. The area is in the same area where the other car struck me. All the pictures they are showing me of my vehicle while in the shop has this one part of the car disassembled already. None of the pictures they have taken has this part on my car. I don't know if this is from the car accident or if they did this while they had my car in the shop. I do know that it was not like this before the accident and getting so called repairs. Worst repair ever. I do not recommend Progressive Insurance. Run for the hills. They are a rip off. Not to mention the every person I have talked with on the phone is rude.

As of today there is still no settlement and my son was offered only 3/4 of what the damage is on his car. I have never heard of a cap on car insurance and why others got more money offered to them and not divide it equally to all involved.
It is not my son's fault. He wasn't even driving. It is now the end of January and this happened in June 2014. So unfair. I would not recommend Progressive to anyone. They keep giving one excuse after another for not paying the claim and now they offered $100.00 less than the original offer. They should divide the monies equally to each person involved. So disappointed the way this is handled.

Took the driver's insurance information, did not call Police as damage seemed slight, and filed a claim in two days with Progressive. After more than a month Progressive's insured finally contacted them, saying I backed into him!
Now I got a photo of his insurance card and did not provide my insurance as he was at fault. Despite all this Progressive had denied the claim. Now Progressive says without a police report they have not found their insured at fault (surprise?). This is one of the sleaziest insurers I have ever come across. When I was 19 years old, I put in my 2 weeks notice at my job. A week and a half later when I was out looking for a job, I was hit head on by an extended cab Silverado while I was making a right at an intersection. The driver of the other vehicle who had a suspended license, driving his girlfriend's truck, under her insurance (Progressive, my insurance too), blew through a stop sign and hit me on my side of the road from the direction I was turning (front passenger side of my car). To demonstrate how far on my side of the road he was, I was very close to the side of the road while turning... (the sun was in his eyes was his excuse). Going into the turn, I changed the song on my radio and when I looked up the Silverado was roughly 10 feet off my bumper seemingly taking up my windshield.
I made the freak out decision, I feel many would, and braced up on the steering wheel and the shifter. I slammed on my brakes in my WRX when I saw him and my nose dove (under braking) so the bottom of his bumper hit right at the bottom of my right headlight, effectively missing the airbag sensor positioned below the headlight, pushing my bumper into my engine. Since I made the mistake of bracing up, I managed to pull EVERY MUSCLE FROM IN BETWEEN MY SHOULDER-BLADES TO THE BOTTOM OF MY BACK. However since it was a 60 mph combined collision, I was in an immense amount of shock and didn't feel a thing yet... My tire marks were 17 feet and 19 feet because he hit me off center.
After I called my father while waiting for the police who then got an ambulance, on 1/3/2012 in Vermont in -1 degree weather + wind-chill, I was sitting in my car, waiting for what seemed a small eternity, hypothermic, in shock, while the guy who hit me was sitting in his running, heated truck... The EMT responded and performed his job to a T, got me to the hospital and they checked me out, offered me pain pills because I might experience some future soreness that I turned down because I thought I was fine (in shock). I went on my blissfully dumb way, they said I might experience some soreness...
So roughly 5 hours post wreck I stepped out of the hospital, the bitter Vermont cold hit me, my back tensed up and started to ache. On the drive home I started to squirm in the seat of my father's car as the shock wore off and the pain really began to set in. That night I cried myself to sleep I was in so much pain, I got 3 hours of sleep. The next night I cried myself to sleep again and got 4 hours, my sleep slowly started to get longer after that night when I started medicating myself with Advil Pm and other aids. I refused to go get pills because one of my buddies' moms is a pill addict and I didn't even want to attempt that, I didn't think I would be in pain that long, and I didn't go back to the hospital for further screening due to parental misguidance and figuring I could tough it out.
My initial call to the insurance company was the usual exchange after the accident. The local claims guy assigned to me started to hound me at my parents for weeks while I was laid up in a 10/10 on the pain scale, to settle for roughly $2200 until I finally freaked out with a nasty volley of words and told him to stop calling, I would call him.
I was a 10/10 in pain for 3 months with my back popping 60-70+ times a day due to muscle imbalances. I would be sitting down and breathe in deeply trying to calm myself and my back would crinkle 7-8 times between my shoulder blades, I would stand up and my lower back would pop multiple times, I would turn to grab something, bend over to grab something and my back would pop multiple times. All the while when my back popped, I would get radiating nerve pain of all sorts intermittently. I couldn't pinpoint movements to stop the nerve damage, but I wanted to scream and pull out my hair but I didn't because I didn't want to scare my family and friends. I was a 7/10 for the roughly next 7 months after the first 3, a 5/10 for roughly the next 6, and my pain subsided to a 3 and comes and goes EVERY DAY, along with the popping and the nerve damage (so-far just over 3 years).
I started taking all kinds of pain pills a few months after and doing all kinds of PT and seeing doctors in attempt to heal my back. All the while Progressive would say bills would be paid etc. and they wouldn't pay them on time citing some BS. They were mostly eventually paid however I still had unpaid bills they wouldn't pay after I settled. My back pain got better, along with the popping but I'm by no means 100% today, maybe 85% from where I was...
Around November 2012 I found myself in need of money for a car, the $2200 I got for equity in my car was all gone after 10 months, who could of guessed. Since I quit my job and was actively seeking a new one, Progressive saw no need to pay lost wages due to the wreck. I settled for $3500, they offered me $5500 (are they kidding themselves?) but I turned them down not realizing that after you settle, you cannot sue. I thought I was going to be able to sue for ALOT more.
When I went to the office to sign the paper to get the check, after they got my signature, the lady behind the desk snatched that paper off the table faster than I expected. I Shot myself in the freaking foot legally and started to realized it right when she snatched that paper. Thankfully I was still covered under my father's insurance so I was able to get some of my PT and other doctors visits covered after I settled. But that $3500 didn't even come close to compensating me for just my time, expenses, let alone pain, and now I cannot even afford PT to fully heal myself.
I've been too busy and depressed paying for sleeping pills and doctors' visits for the insomnia I developed after I stopped taking pain pills. I used Advil PM and Benadryl for a little bit when I was told I didn't need pain pills, or when I was using pills on the bad nights. If I don't take them I'm up for 48 hours till my eyes burn, I'll sleep for 2-3 hours, and be up another 20 and get 4-5 hours of sleep. I haven't pushed it past that.
All of the people of Progressive who did this to me, I think you're horrible people, but it's partially my fault for letting this happen. I typed all this because I would like my story out there, so hopefully I may help someone going through something similar, and to show Progressive, hopefully if they read this, what their greed does to people. My back hurt just bending over the computer to type all of this. The attached photos were taken right after I got off the phone with my father and he instructed me to do so... Just some sound marketing advice, You can't put lipstick on a pig.

So I went to progressive, and CHANGED THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST truck only changed my insurance about 50-60 a month which was fine but when I put the v6 EXACT SAME TRUCK on there, it made my insurance go up 206! I had paid the payment after adding the FIRST TRUCK that I had for 2 days. The second truck they are saying I NEVER MADE A PAYMENT ON THE INSURANCE (which was only 25 days of having the truck when I called to cancel, because I wasn't paying 506 a month for 3 vehicles on only liability). I got a quote with Geico of 205 a month for all vehicles!! I tried explaining what happened, all they could say is certain vehicles change the policy amount more than others. I was like it was the EXACT SAME TRUCK - why did it change it 200 dollars a month. Well regardless, they scammed me of about 200 bucks.. DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS.

When I pointed out that NYS mandates uninsured motorist coverage, the issue became that there were discrepancies in the details of the accident. I got the police report in 5 minutes and emailed it to them. Then they still had to determine liability, but they told my husband that if he got a rental that they would reduce the amount that they paid for the claim by the cost of the rental. I again emailed them stating that this was totally unacceptable. Within 1/2 hour they called and finally agreed that their client was 100% liable and that they would pay for all of the damages and a rental. Progessive screwed up on my insurance. I had insurance with them for 2 years but never again! I was pulled over one day while the cops were doing a seatbelt check...they ran my tags to find out my "tags were suspended" and so was my license! I was arrested and taken to jail and my truck towed...but here's why - I had 2 trucks and 1 car insured through them AT THE SAME TIME (I say this LOUDLY because it is important and comes to bear later). I was having trouble with my work truck and decided to put it out of service until I could get it fixed in the spring and switch over to my other truck to use. So naturally, I didn't want to pay insurance for several months on a truck I was not using, so I cancelled the insurance (still paying for the use of my other truck and my wife's car).
Progressive, in all its usual incompetence reported to the DMV that I had dropped my insurance, but failed to report that the insurance was good on my other cars. The GA DMV (who, let's face it, can't get anything right either) didn't bother to check and see how many other cars I might have, took the word of Progressive and suspended my license based on the fact that it is illegal to drive without insurance, and some time after during that routine stop, I was arrested! By the time I got to jail, I was able to get the cops to run a check and see that my other 2 cars did in fact have insurance and that I was NOT driving the one I had dropped the insurance on. So they released me, but I still had to pay a $50 tow bill to retrieve my truck. Progressive was very sorry but would not refund me my losses. BE VERY CAREFUL -THIS COULD BE YOU!

Anyhow I think Progressive are thieves and liars with fake quotes. I called them to talk about it and every single agent gave me different reason why it's higher. I already paid for this month but I am gonna change my car insurance policy before it ends. My advice to everyone - do not get Progressive Insurance - I am going to tell everyone I know and if they have, they should cancel it and go with another insurance.

I hit a deer on the Night of November 17, 2014. I called Progressive to file a claim. They stopped me from making a claim. Saying I didn't have Comprehensive and Collision. I live in NY State. I have a loan on my car. It is State law to have Comprehensive And Collision on a car loan or a lease. I was never notified by Progressive that they never received my NY STATE PHOTO INSPECTION WHEN I GOT THE POLICY IN AUGUST OF 2013. THEY NEVER MAILED ME ANY DECLARATION PAGES IN THE MAIL. They were supposed to every 6 months. I was not on paperless notification. So they claim I didn't get photo inspection done. I went to Murphy's where I got it done but they keep NO RECORDS ON FILE. SO now I am stuck with the cost of repair, which I can't afford due to being out of work from 2 major shoulder surgeries. I have to have Ally take my car back and auction it off and I have to pay the remaining balance. So for over a year, Progressive could of let me know they never received the Photo inspection, which is free but failed to. Progressive NY STATE CARGO AND ALLY NEVER notified me. Be aware of what you are paying for and what you should be paying for when you get car insurance.

Well it was a cold winter’s night. The temp was about 15 below zero. I had worked a ten-hour shift at work then loaded up my three kids to go get some stuff for dinner and a rental movie.. After shopping I got in my car and headed home... I didn’t even get a block when booooommm, the front end of my car dropped to the ground... When I stepped outside and looked I saw a broken ball joint on my car.. I called my insurance company and was working with them on a solution... After about an hour and a half of repeating myself and getting transferred through various departments, they finally told me they were sending a tow truck and they would call me with the details five minutes later.... Waited an hour in the freezing cold with three kids... Then the officer on scene decided he had enough waiting and asked me to call a tow truck myself... So I did and within a half hour my car was towed and I was home...
Four hours later I get a phone call from the tow truck Progressive’s partner in crime "roadside assistance" had sent.. The driver on the phone was very rude and upset that I was not still in the middle of the road with my broken down car... Shortly after getting off the phone with the rude tow truck driver Progressive calls me and tells me about the tow driver... They assure me my car is covered by my insurance and that they would repair and pay for the tow... The next day I receive a call saying they were refusing to pay for the tow and the repair due to wear and tear... Furious now I scramble to find a solution...
I mean after all I do have roadside assistance with my policy... After two days of fighting with progressive and their affiliates my car finally gets paid for by my own pocket and roadside assistance agrees to pay me back (or at least review my claim for reimbursement)... Two days later Progressive raises my coverage by 16 dollars a month more... I am switching insurance companies right away.... Worst Customer Care Ever!!!!

On May 6, I was hit head on by a driver with Progressive Insurance. The driver crossed at least two lanes to hit my car and knocked it into a parking lot. The car was totaled. After they removed me from the vehicle I was taken to the hospital. It took 1 week to get a police report identifying the driver and insurance carrier. The day I got the report I attempted to file a claim with Progressive over the phone. They said they did not think they would be paying. The driver was cited for Failure to Keep in Proper Lane. According to the police report the driver stated that another vehicle knocked her into my lane, however, neither the eyewitness, nor myself saw another vehicle. The officer also stated that based on the evidence on the scene and his investigation, no other vehicles were involved. Progressive sent me a letter denying liability base on the facts. Which facts they won't say. I had to turn matters over to my insurance company State Farm who have been excellent. I know others who have had similar dealings with Progressive and don't understand why they can get away with such tactics.

My daughter, Tiffany **, purchased an auto policy through Progressive on November 29, 2014. The payment of $130.53 for the premium was posted to my credit card ending in 8731 on November 30. After doing some shopping around, my daughter found a more affordable policy through another carrier. She contacted Progressive on December 1, 2014 and requested the policy to be cancelled. When I checked my credit card statement on December 16, I noticed the charge was still on my account, so I opened a dispute claim. A refund of $126.53 was posted to my daughter's checking account ending in 7199 on December 16. On December 23, my daughter received an email from Progressive stating: "Your policy has ended with a balance due. Below is an updated bill for your policy, which is no longer active. Total amount due: $130.53."
When my daughter called to find out why there was a balance due, she was informed that when the payment was drafted from her account, there were insufficient funds so they never received payment, so she still owed the premium. Despite her attempts to explain that the payment had already been processed, she was told if payment were not received, it would affect her credit. We are both trying to understand how there is a balance due, when the policy was cancelled within 24 hours. And, why was Progressive attempting to draft a payment from my daughter's account when I had already paid the premium? Any assistance you can provide in this matter would be greatly appreciated. My husband and I both had Progressive car insurance before we got married. Not real complaints other than when we both signed up we were quoted a decent #. The lowest # we could find for him $110 a month. For me, $89 a month. We sign up and all is good at first. Set up automatic withdraw and for the first few months, they did deduct this amount from our account. After about 4 months, we notice they started taking out a higher amount. We did not think much of it because it was a not a huge increase. When we finally got married, we combined our insurance. The man I talked to told me, "Okay, your first payment will be $250.00, then it will go down to $95 a month." He failed to mention that it will go down to $95 a month after 5 months of taking different amounts out and the $95 was only for 1 month then it went back up to and kept slowly deducting. We never know how much they are going to take out each month. My second compliant is my husband, myself, our 18-month-old baby, and 5-year-old nephew were involved in a hit-and-run accident close to the holidays. Our car we bought used for $5,000 financed $2,100 and paid the rest only 2 weeks prior to the accident was totaled. Luckily, no one was harmed. We called our insurance right away and filed a claim.
They went to look at our car 2 days after the accident and told us they were going to total it. She then told us they would give us only $3,600 for it. So after our $500 deductible and them paying our $2,100 loan, we are left with $1,000. They tell us they came to this value by researching the same car for sale in our area using a 75-mile radius and that is what my husband's car is being sold for. However, Kelley Blue Book valued the car at $4,500 so my husband decided he would look at these car they found. Out of 12 listings, he found 3 that were actually really for sale. The other listings were not found. This was only 1 day after they sent to listings to us. The 3 cars that we found had way more miles than my husband's car had on it.

My driving record is virtually impeccable for the past 20 years. I was seduced possibility of saving $30 - $40 and sure I'd be able to. I drove without the radio on to ascertain the pattern and understand the device, assuming it would validate my driving skills. I work from home and drive during slow traffic times. I have a standard and I downshift and ease up to the light or stop sign. Still, I'd get a hard beep, which they consider any de-acceleration from over 7 mph. Sometimes I'd get TWO hard beeps. One time I got three. Moving up a car at a time for a left-hand turn, I got a hard beep. At a stop sign waiting to turn, I moved forward a bit to see past some bushes and stepped on the brake - and got a hard beep. No matter how hard I tried to understand the thing, it beeped when it wasn't even close to a hard stop - and sometimes would NOT beep under the same circumstances.
I'd estimate easily - on a conservative basis - 70% of the hard stops it registered weren't hard stops. I know a hard stop - and that includes when you're coming to a stop sign or light and not calibrating your speed accurately so you stop a little faster than you anticipated to avoid going into the intersection. I have those on occasion. But this thing beeped incessantly. I couldn't seem to get through a trip without it beeping at me, no matter how hard I tried. And now, as other reviewers and commenters on other sites have noted - my insurance has INCREASED. I would like to gather people and find a lawyer and sue Progressive. I find their marketing misleading and from the comments I should have read before I engaged, or at least before my 6-month snapshot term expired, I know now that rather than continue to try to cooperate and understand it for the discount, I should have taken it out and thrown it away before I was penalized for having "bad" driving habits.
Who's penalizing Progressive for scamming insureds with a marketing strategy designed to increase rates via a device that is designed to do the opposite of what it does? I saw a few comments on Rip Off Report that testified they'd received a discount. I'd like to see proof. In fact, I'm interested to know if Progressive has an audited report that validates its claims of reducing insurance rates in the insureds who use it.

The police report clearly states that the progressive driver is at fault. My car has been deemed a "total loss" by Progressive. Today is December 9th, a month and 3 days after the accident. Progressive has done absolutely nothing; they've not taken fault yet, not paid for the rental I had to return due to non-payment, paid the body shop, my "totaled" car is sitting while occurring daily storage fees. I am not using my insurance to file the claim, it is not their responsibility. I cannot finance another vehicle until this whole mess is settled. Woman gets out of car and asks daughter for money. When she refuses, police are called. Per officer he states in report that impact and damage was so minor a ticket was not issued and it was not possible for any injury. Officer pulls daughter aside and says if they asked for money it could be a scam.
Next morning Progressive calls daughter (not me as the car owner) and says that this woman and passengers are on their way to the office. They give these solid non-citizens hush money to sign a release with zero proof of injury. No concern for us as our insurance will now go up the next renewal $2,000. And my daughter has an accident on insurance clear report for the next 5 years. The quick payoff is to protect Progressive, not us. I am writing to inform you about my recent experience with your company. On Friday, November 21st, 2014 my daughter parked her car on a street across from her college dorm, like she does every time she uses her car. Approximately an hour after she parked and left the car a man, driving at a high rate of speed and running a stop sign collided with her parked car, leaving it non-functioning, and due to the cars age and mileage, totaled. He also hit her car so hard he pushed it into the car in front of hers, causing damage to that cars bumper. That night he left the scene, leaving no message, no note, nothing on either car.
The next day, Saturday, November 22nd, my daughter went out to her car, expecting to be able to drive away as normal to her intended destination. She was horrified to see her car smashed beyond functionality, no note left for her by the responsible party, and nothing she could do other than report the accident to the police department. At 3:57 PM that afternoon, I received a phone call from Progressive agent DeShawn **, explaining that he was calling about my car. My daughter’s car is registered to me, so the man who hit her car apparently made a claim on the accident to fix his parents car, which was the car he used to destroy my daughters car. I was told on Saturday in a brief phone call that Progressive would have the car towed to their facility, assess the damage, issue me a check for the cost of the damage or the cost of the car, and provide a rental car to replace the destroyed car. Mr. ** asked for the address of the car, and since my daughter uses it and parks it by her campus, I told him that he needed to call her to get the address and arrange for the tow and the rental for her. I sent my daughter a text message to let her know that this would be happening, and she waited for Mr. ** to call.
Mr. ** never called her on Saturday, November 22nd, after speaking to me. I called the phone number from which Mr. ** called me, and upon listening to his voicemail I learned that his business hours were Tuesdays-Saturdays from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM and business hours were already over for the day. I assumed, incorrectly, that Progressive would want to take care of getting her wrecked car and all of its debris off of the street as soon as possible, and arrange for the rental for Paige as soon as possible.
My daughter and I both called Mr. **, left voice mails; my daughter called his supervisors number, with no results other than reaching his voicemail, and she even called the main 1-800 number for Progressive to see when these things would be taken care of. No one could give her any answers, and she had to wait until Mr. ** was back to work on Tuesday, November 25th, to get things underway. He explained to her how the tow would work and what needed to be done, and then told her how to get her replacement rental. Before the car was towed her car started to receive notices from the City of Milwaukee to tell her that if she didnt move her can within 72 hours the car would be towed to a city impound lot. WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING??? WHY WAS THE CAR NOT TOWED OFF OF THE STREET THE DAY AFTER THE ACCIDENT??? It is terrible practice for an agent to leave his office for the weekend and leave things like a smashed car on the street and a driver without a replacement vehicle for 4 days!! Why did someone else from Progressive NOT take care of this???
The day after the car was towed Mr. ** called me to inform me how much Progressive would give me for the value of the car, and that the rental car was due back on Saturday, November 29th. I listened to him, told him that I was not accepting the offer until I talked to a few other people, asked that he call Paige to let her also know the same information and that I would be calling him back about it. Later that day I left him a voicemail informing him that this was a holiday weekend and we would not be able to purchase a suitable vehicle for my daughter by Saturday, November 29th and that we would be keeping the rental car until suitable transportation could be found. Also, in what way would I be able to purchase a replacement vehicle without the check from Progressive, which I did not accept? Mr. ** returned my call but left a voicemail instructing me to call him.
The next day was Thanksgiving, November 27th. We did not hear from Mr. ** or Progressive all weekend, and so on Monday, December 1st, I called him and left him a voicemail. He did not return my call until Tuesday, December 2nd, and we discussed the rental car which Progressive had provided. He told me that the rental car had been due back on Saturday, November 29th and that any further days would have to be paid for out of pocket. There was no way for me to have known this since I had explained to him via voicemail that we needed the rental car longer, did not have Progressives money on that date, and had not had time to look for and purchase an appropriate vehicle for my daughter due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
I argued all of these points to Mr. ** and told him that we needed the rental until we were able to purchase a new vehicle. He asked how long we needed it, and said that he needed an end date. I gave him the date of December 19th. He said that was way too long. I countered with December 12th. He again said that was too much time. We settled on Saturday, December 6th and he said he was going to put in a request to have that approved, and that he hoped to get back to me on that before the end of the day on Tuesday, December 2nd. In the meantime my daughter was getting phone calls from the rental company telling her that the rental car would be considered stolen unless she returned it immediately.
On the evening of Tuesday, December 2nd I received the check from Progressive in the amount which Mr. ** had quoted to me over the phone, which I never told him I would accept. I left Mr. ** yet another voicemail on the morning of Thursday, December 4th, inquiring as to the rental and Progressive paying for license fees and taxes, and he returned my call on December 4th at 9:54 AM. He informed me that the additional days for the rental were not approved, and that all extra days beyond Saturday, November 29th would need to be paid for out of pocket. I expressed my frustration for that, and asked why in the world we should have returned the rental car before: 1. We had an appropriate replacement vehicle and had the time to purchase it, and 2. Also before we had the money with which to purchase said-vehicle. He didn’t seem to understand my position or my dilemma, but then did explain that Progressive would pay for the new license fees and taxes, and that I should let him know the amount of those items when we knew what they would be.
My daughter did return the rental on the afternoon of Thursday, December 4th since it was only on that date that we found out the additional days on the rental would not be covered by Progressive. When she returned the car she had to charge $140 on her credit card. Really, Progressive? $140 is too much for your company to handle? Instead of making a poor college student charge it to her credit card and get charged interest on it? When IF YOUR CLIENT HAD NOT BEEN NEGLIGENT AND BREAKING THE LAW NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWAY??? Not to mention that we STILL do not have a replacement car! We are all beyond frustration!
This whole experience has been one of frustration, inconvenience and anxiety. I don’t understand why it took Progressive so long to contact my daughter, get her destroyed car towed and give her a rental car. The smashed car sat for 3 days in the rain and then a snow storm, so long that the City threatened to tow it. Tow truck companies are on call 24 hours a day. This could have been taken care of the day after the accident! I don’t understand why as soon as the car was towed and they gave us a value, they were ready to cut and send a check even though I told them that I was not accepting the total, and then they expected us to have the rental returned before we even had a chance to start looking or purchase a new vehicle due to the holiday, or before I even had the check in my hand!!
Progressive obviously seems to me to be nothing but a company looking for the dollar sign; they don’t care about a college student just starting out in this world who needs reliable transportation to get to class and to get to her two jobs on time. They don’t care that they have caused a family frustration, tears and anxiety while we all tried to figure out where to go to look for reliable used cars, wondered if we could afford a good used one to replace the very reliable one we just had which Progressives negligent client destroyed. They don’t care about families who have members working two and three jobs, trying to make ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck, and now have to scrape up money to replace a perfectly good vehicle, spend time and resources trying to do so, when if Progressives client wouldn’t have been driving negligently, speeding and refusing to stop at a stop sign, none of this would have ever happened.
Just because a car happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, yet parked perfectly legally, this should all cost me blood, sweat, tears and hard-earned money? Progressive has not made me or my family whole. People pay thousands of dollars per year to your insurance company, and I am absolutely sure that it would hardly be a dent in Progressives pocket to pay for a rental car for a poor college student for an extra week or two, and to make sure that a family is made back to whole with a suitable and reliable vehicle which they already paid for once, and now have to find money to pay for it again.
Please be sure that we will utilize every form of public media we can to decry this situation, to inform the public about the horrible service we have gotten from Progressive. Progressive is not at all a progressive company, unless being progressive means to completely screw over law-abiding people, steer away from customer service, and decent, simple humanity.

Quite possibly the worst insurance company in this country. My car was destroyed by a hit-and-run driver who ended up making an insurance claim later. Took them 3 days after the claim was made to contact me. Took them 4 days after the fact to tow my car. Gave me a rental car that was only good for 72 hours after the check was sent. I NEVER accepted the money they offered me (so the check never should have been sent) but they decided to send the check anyway and I had 72 hours after it was sent on Wednesday to find a car, get it checked out by my mechanic, and buy the car. The next day was Thanksgiving, so in reality, I had all day Friday and half the day of Saturday to get this done. Finally got a call back on Monday after leaving a message for Deshawn ** telling them we need more time with the rental car and more money since it's nearly impossible to buy a car Thanksgiving week with a check we didn't have until Monday. Plus, the money they offered wasn't enough to buy a car similar to the one I had previously.
They are making me pay the rest of the overdue days for the rental car because the request to extend the rental was denied. Didn't know that until today (Thursday) when he said he would get back to me by the end of the day (Monday) with the answer of the request. Horrible customer service. It's nearly impossible to get a hold of this guy or anyone in his office. Takes them days to get back to you. Also, explain to me how I need to pay money out of MY pocket when it was their irresponsible, CRIMINAL client who hit my car. Without that event happening, I would have never had to pay any extra money that I don't have and the car that was destroyed would have lasted me years to come. Progressive refuses to help me out anymore even though I am not asking for a large amount of money. AWFUL company. Will never use them as my insurance company in the future. I will be writing to their CEO and getting a lawyer. Advice to anyone else, don't let their advertisements lie to you. And I hope none of you have the misfortune of having to deal with this company in the future.

I had Progressive Insurance. There was a shooting in the church parking lot and finished at the movie theater. My car got hit with a bullet. Progressive had my car checked but Bruce Auto took the bullet out. Progressive wanted my phone bill for the month and told me needed the other vehicle information. While I was on the ground I didn't see the car. They denied my claim, said there was no proof I was there. I was there waiting for the police. Then where did the bullet come from?

This insurance is a scam. I was stranded. My car leaking fluid and progressive representatives refused to pay my tow to the nearest licensed/certified BMW repair center. My roadside insurance policy states that I am covered up to 17 miles or to the nearest suitable repair center however when I reviewed the policy with progressive representative they refused to pay for the tow to licensed BMW repair center.

I was with Progressive for over ten years. My last policy was issued in the beginning of July and the premium was calculated based on my upstate address (my second home). Suddenly, one month before the end of the term, Progressive changed the premium based on what they said "information collected from different sources about where my car is being kept." Regardless of various proofs provided by me - mortgage payments stubs, bank statements, pay stubs with the other address - they decided to bill me for the difference at the last statement. My two conversations with the underwriter didn't help. I start looking for the better offer and instead of making the last payment, I cancelled the policy and took my business elsewhere.
Today, I received a bill obligating me to pay the outstanding difference. Is that legal? If I knew that my policy will be so much more expensive with Progressive back in July, I would have looked for a better offer right then. Again, is that legal for the Insurance company to change the quote at the end of the term and demand the payment? I am very unhappy with the treatment received!

We have our Progressive payment taken out automatically. I noticed Progressive hadn't taken my money out. I called to see if there was a problem. Mind you, we have 3 vehicles insured through them. My son's, my husband's, and mine. They informed me I have no active policy. It was canceled and is unavailable for renewal. Today is the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we are all uninsured. When I asked why, they said we are high risk. I said why. "Probably because you travel out of state a lot." What? My son is the only one who does, and it's during 3 months in the summer for an internship for college! I received no notice, no phone call, and no letter! Is this legal? We all have jobs we have to drive to this weekend. Has anyone had this happen?

In the middle of a claim dispute with Progressive Insurance that they are calling a total loss. Damage is restricted to the front end / grill area, air bags did not deploy & side fenders are fine. The estimate came to 7k and I live in Texas with a 100% TLT. They are offering me 8k. They requested I show them similar vehicles to mine. Alas a reference to support what I believe to be fair market value. The vehicles all fell into the guidelines they requested. I sent 4 vehicles, all local to Dallas, with similar miles, year, model, and with similar damage on the sides. All the cars had sold or were listed for $11k to $12k. Where am going wrong in understanding their settlement? They seem more Interested in if I have a loan and if I have gap insurance than fixing or giving me a fair settlement. This is a nightmare and thank goodness I work for law firm because I think that is the only resolution to this.

I've only had Progressive for a few months now, but I'm already getting a bad vibe. Nov 26 just my luck I get pulled over by pmo late that afternoon and they tell me I've had a lapse of insurance and they're going to have to take my license plate according to the rules and regulations of NC. Confused as they're giving me a receipt of surrender, I call Progressive to get to the bottom of it. They tell me the reason why all this is happening is because my vehicle vin number was wrong. Mind you, I've had this issue before with them and had to correct my vin three times. So in disbelief they finally get the right number and update the system. But wait, it's thanksgiving/black Friday weekend and I don't have a license plate still.
I go to the dmv before closing, wait for an hour to find I need to pay a fee to get a new plate. So I call Progressive and tell them they need to pay the fee for messing up my vin for the fourth time and they say they're not responsible because they only type in what they hear me say. After verifying countless times with them the correct number, some careless soul types whatever into their computer. Screw Progressive and Flo for her misleading commercials. Happy holidays from Progressive.

I had a green arrow to make a left turn. A car in the opposite direction proceeded to make a left turn as well. As I started to make my turn I saw a car coming at me in the on coming lane at a high rate of speed. I realized immediately that this car was coming at me at full throttle and not slowing down. I floor boarded the car and got into the side street all except by rear bumper. The car clipped my rear bumper continued to skid 100+ feet - ran up on the median strip - backed off and took off at a high rate of speed. A lady who did not witness the hit but saw the car skidding and leave scene followed the car - saw it pull up in a parking lot 1/2 mile away and was assessing the damage to his bumper. She took the license # & I gave it to the investigating officer.
To make a long story short - the insured's daughter let her boyfriend drive the car. In court the daughter perjured herself - she was arrested in court for giving wrong information to the officer - her boyfriend was arrested for hit and run, 2nd trial the boy was found guilty of hit and run. I furnished pictures of the light having a green arrow. Progressive refused to pay the claim STATING there were no witnesses that saw the actual accident.

I am a BRAND NEW customer. I have a great driving record. No points and claims. I called a local Insurance company and needed Insurance. The agent gave me a decent quote. It was a second car for me and I wanted insurance immediately so I took it. I was told to have proof of prior insurance faxed. I ordered that from my company and assumed it was done and received. My Insurance agent seemed like she was already angry when I tried to get the automatic withdraw set up on the checking. She seemed like she had a history of dodging customers. Everything seemed fine. I wrote a check to someone and gave it to them because I knew I had funds for it. I just had a feeling so I checked the balance. My account was empty. Apparently my insurance was increased! I called the agent and she dodged my call and did not return a call.
Progressive said it was raised because they got no proof of prior. I worked it out and they returned the money. BUT THEY RAISED MY RATES ANYWAY. Why I asked. They said because on my prior insurance I bought lower rates. WHAT? Because I'm at state mins and thrifty on an old policy, they use this to raise my rates? The policy levels did not change from the day I bought it but now they take an extra $80 a yr for a penalty? By the way, I didn't know I was buying Progressive. I read about them and see how they sell snooping snapshot tech as a desirable thing. If they use my thriftiness as a penalty, how much more will they penalize every move one makes on the road or speed violation to take more money out of an account? I will dump them very shortly. If I can't trust them now, how could I have them protect me from legal liabilities?

Instead paid them off 1500 dollars and then charge us $50 more on our insurance per month when we've never had one claim ever. And said that the claims adjuster looked into it and it was our fault. Never even heard from the claims adjuster. Now I can't get ahold of anybody. And they don't even care that I said they can take their insurance and put it where the Sun don't shine because I will never buy insurance from them. Or give them the $50 which we have insurance on three cars full coverage. And apparently we are not the valued customers as they claim us to be. And when I called them they didn't care and care at all. You can't even get ahold of anybody. So what did they get, nada. Angry in Iowa.

My husband right now is stranded on the side of the road on his way home for the holidays. He only knew he was past Tallahassee and not an exact location when his truck just stopped working. He pulled off the side of the road and called Progressive to be asked where his location was when he said he didn't know for sure. Good thing he was listening to the recording when it advised he could be tracked by his GPS, when he asked the rep if she could do that she realized she could. Why did he have to find the resolution? Then she asked him where he wanted to be towed??? He thought this would be cared for as he did not know his surroundings. If he had enough cell phone energy in his phone he could have looked that up.
Next she said he has to tell her which hotel he wants to go to. At this point with all the work he has to do on his own in a stranded truck, in the rain, on the side of the road, with little to no charge on his phone we are all severally annoyed at the customer service not jumping in to assist. I work for Verizon and we treat our customers like gold and military customers even better. Thanks for going out of your way to help this active duty member get home- not!

I called Progressive to shop for a lower price due to things being tight financially. My husband & I told the sales rep on the phone that we wanted the same coverage that we had a with Geico which was full coverage and both of us that we both had for over 10 yrs with Geico. The sales rep told us over and over that we were covered. At the time we were in a bad wifi area in ct country so the phone was the only way to contact Progressive. My husband got in a accident to find out he had no road side or collision corvette. But I had full coverage on my old 2006 Hyundai. "THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO FULLY INSURE MY OLD CAR AND NOT THE EXPENSIVE CAR."
EVERY TIME I CALLED THEY WOULD SAY "YOU'RE COVERED" BUT NEVER MENTION THAT THE VET WAS NOT. Not all people are internet savvy or can read due to dyslexia so their word on the phone was good for me. Now my husband car is totaled and had to pay over 1000.00 to tow the car off the road then home. WE WERE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. NEVER GO WITH PROGRESSIVE .

Last week, I had pulled out of a STREET parking spot, and was cruising down the far right lane on Vine Street in Philadelphia, when a woman in a van veered over from the left hand lane and hit me. Not only did she cry and admit fault in front of the tow truck drivers who arrived after I called the cops, and my passenger... I heard her call Progressive and admit fault on the phone, while at the body shop. The body shop people heard it too. Seemed pretty cut and dry case of, she didn't look (oh, and she also didn't have a MIRROR on her passenger side), and it was totally her fault.
I thought Progressive, her insurance company, would then pay to have my car fixed. THINK AGAIN. They have DENIED the claim because "you came out of a parking spot"...??? Never mind that I'd been driving for several minutes when she hit me... never mind that SHE ADMITTED FAULT. They are REFUSING TO PAY. I talked to an attorney and they can't take the case because there were no injuries. Now it has to go through MY insurance or my car is gonna sit at that body shop and incur storage fees... plus I am using the body shop's loaner car, which I'm sure will cost a fortune when all of this is done.
I have a $500 deductible I am now going to have to pay, PLUS the possibility of my rates going up. Now I have to spend HOURS dealing with my insurance company to make sure it goes into subrogation, plus spending hours pressuring the woman who hit me. I told her I will sue her for my deductible and rental car costs, if it comes to that. This accident which WASN'T MY FAULT has cost me hours and hours of hassle... THANKS PROGRESSIVE!

They start you at a low price and each year, it goes up. After a few years, my insurance got up to $1,200 for six months. I am in my late 50s. Never had an accident but because I only have one car and do not have any of their discounts, it went up and up. Then when you cancel, they say you owe your last payment. Seriously, who give you services for the month and then charges you? Surely not any company I have ever dealt with!
When I called to cancel, I got the phrase "there is no way they can do your insurance that cheap. I know, as I am an insurance writer in Oregon!" Well guess what, they did and I save over $500 every 6 months with another company. If you fall for their BS, make sure you cancel after the first 6 months as they will continue to raise your rates!!

I have been insured with Progressive for almost 10 years. I have had nothing but positive experiences, even when I totaled my car last spring. My accident was on a Tuesday and I got my insurance check by Friday. The car was a total loss and they gave me a fair market price. They also reimbursed me the sales tax on my new vehicle. Nothing but good experiences! The rates have fluctuated a bit over the years, but nothing more than $50-$75 per 6 month term. Easy to get in contact with and pleasant on the phone.

I recently just signed up for insurance with progressive despite the bad reviews people said about them. Today I came to regret that decision. After two days of having insurance with progressive, a deer ran into street severely damaged my car. I called and filed a claim and spoke with an adjuster and she completely denied my request for a rental even though I have coverage. She calls my prior insurance companies and questions me as if I was a criminal. She then tells me to take my car to be checked out and the mechanic said that car is not safe to drive and wanted to put me in a rental (which I have coverage for). They denied his request. After being harassed and questioned and giving them everything they asked, a representative call me back accusing me of wrecking my own car although I gave her a witness and contact number to a mechanic shop that I have gotten my car fixed at 6 days prior. They failed to contact anyone. I even offered to take pic of deer and scene of accident. She said, "Anyone could fake a picture even I could go kill a deer and take a picture of it." Then requested I give her my job information, phone records and etc.
I use to think highly of progressive but after, I wouldn't insurance a bicycle with this insurance. Very bad customer service and bad experience. I have yet to get a rental and I'm driving a car with no headlights and smoke coming from the hood although I paid for a service that I didn't receive. Very disappointed and frustrated.......BAD EXPERIENCE.
