They are extremely helpful and the emails they send to make sure I am up to date on all the information is wonderful. Super easy to get signed up and the snapshot option is really neat. I have my payment taken out each month and it's always on a timely manner. Any time I have had to contact them directly the staff in the call center are helpful and kind.

I've been with Progressive for several years now. Their customer service is top-notch and their pricing is competitive. I could probably receive a lower rate elsewhere, but I appreciate how helpful they've been when I've had to file a claim. Having an accident or incident is stressful. They take the pain out of it by handling every detail. I'll continue to be a customer as long as I have a vehicle to insure.

Progressive insurance company gave me a great rate 1 year ago. This year they jacked my insurance up 30% because my mother cracked someone's tail light which cost Progressive $534. This is an example of accountants making decisions based on numbers and not giving a damn about their customers. Thought people should know the callous manner in which Progressive does business. Insuring two cars just went up $1,000 a year. I will move on to another provider.

We fortunately haven't had to file a claim, but I do feel confident that Progressive will deliver good customer service, if or when we need it.

I've been with Progressive for about 3. Every six months the premium is steadily going up. So, I called to decrease my coverage which in turns should decrease my monthly premium. I only took out the uninsured motorist, and that alone was about $42 monthly. The lady from customer service that made the change said that I would receive the UM rejection form via e-mail that I need to sign and return to them. I never receive the document; so I can't sign it. They charged me $686.06 when I was supposed to pay only $353.04.
I called them; they said that they would mail the form to my address to sign. They never did. I called again and complained about the overcharge. They said they would backdate the policy to lower my premium and issue me a refund. I am fight 3 months of to now I still can't them to honor their words. I had a claim in one of my cars. The adjuster was straight garbage. He gave an estimate on my BMW for 678 when it cost me $1200 in parts alone. Progressive is ripping people off. STAY AWAY from Progressive.

Absolutely terrible service...Unfortunately I was involved in an accident with a Progressive Insured driver who claimed full responsibility for the accident. Progressive agreed to pay for the repairs my vehicle, but when the work was done unsatisfactorily they just ignore your calls. If you finally get a agent, like representatives of the Rochester, Minnesota office, you are ignored, insulted and refused any sort of rectification. I am glad that I do not work with Progressive and wish the rest of the public would move on as well. Flo is a tired, boring character representing a terrible company.

So far we have had great service through Progressive. When I caused an accident they eventually paid for the other guy to get a new truck and for the pole he hit. It took them time only because I was on a rental and the rental company was not corroborating. Another claim was when my husband's truck caught on fire. They did ok with that one, only if we wouldn't have known the actual value of the truck, we would have lost $3000.

I started a policy in August 2015, paid that month. I paid for the month of September. Then they cancel me in October because of underwriting decisions. I call to see what that was about and apparently they needed to ask me a few questions in order for me to keep my policy. Thing is they never reached out to me to ask these questions. They claim they emailed asking for my information but the only email I received from them was stating that they already cancelled me. So here I am with no insurance and Progressive telling me the only thing I can do is open a new policy because the reps can't do their jobs correctly. If they just called me none of this would have happened. Great customer service Progressive.

Signing up was really easy. We were able to register and set up auto payments within a half an hour, covering both me and my husband. There was a time where we weren't going to be able to afford the auto payment on our insurance that month because of a financial situation, so we contacted them. We explained the situation and asked to cancel our insurance, and instead they offered to postpone our payment to when we could afford it, which I didn't think they were going to let us do. They've always been very pleasant and polite. And the insurance coverage for us is very affordable for just the two of us.

WARNING to anyone reporting a claim to Progressive Auto Insurance that isn't your fault. If they feel you could have done something to avoid, they will make you partially liable. The other party, also insured through Progressive, ran a red light and hit me. I am now partially liable for the deductible and rental car because I did not look both ways before proceeding through the green light. WHAT?! I could not see the guy because there were two lanes to my left blocking my view anyways!
I am upset and it's not about the money. It's about what is right and this is very wrong. Where is this rule in my policy? Don't call your claim in right after the accident. Calm down and get your thoughts together before calling. I didn't know I needed an attorney to report an accident. This is the treatment received as a long-time customer with no tickets or accidents. My money will now go to another company.

I started my policy with Progressive 1.5 years ago due to being initially sold on their reasonable rates. In the last year and a half, I have turned 25 and have had a clean record for several years now. Every month now, my rate seems to be steadily increasing. Overall, my monthly rate is now $100 HIGHER than when I began. I have spoken to more reps/supervisors than I can imagine, all ending in the same result of "sorry nothing I can do for you". Classic bait and switch and fraud if you ask me. I can not be more disgusted with these crooks and HIGHLY ADVISE EVERYONE TO STEER CLEAR. If you get involved in an auto accident with a Progressive insured and their insured receives a ticket showing they are at fault, good luck! Progressive is only paying 80% of your car's total damage. They will come up with the outlandish/bogus reasons that you should be liable for the other 20%. It is happening to me right now and it has happened over and over again. The claims agent told me they do not have to use the police report as far as finding who is liable for the accident. From the number of complaints I have read here in Consumer Affairs it looks like they have become quite good at finding fault in others where there is none. Buyer Beware!

We have been with Progressive for over 5 years. We have had no tickets of any kind. Last year I called them just to ask for suggestions about a ding in my door from a careless neighbor slamming her car door into mine when she got oFf her car. No claim filed, no money paid out. Then in January 2015 my son had a minor fender bender. A young teenager cut in front of him and then slammed on the brakes in the rain. He could not stop in time and ended up rear ending her. She admitted to him that this continues to happen to her and that this was the 4th time in 6 months for her being rear ended. All of this was told to Progressive. Didn't matter. Claim was paid, which was under $600.
Progressive claims the one small accident, forgiveness goes for the car ding, that there was no claim for and our rates continue to keep jumping up. We just got our most recent renewal quote and I am sick to death of this scam artist company. They get over $5k in premiums from us a year and we are not even driving new vehicles. 2002 Infiniti G20, 2006 Toyota Highlander and a 2011 Jetta. In a year, our 6 month premium has gone from $2,151 to $2,619. Way too much for a family of good drivers, with 1 accident. Even on the credit front, 2 have triple AAA credit. I am 54 and have been driving since I was 16. I have had 1 ticket and that was when I was 9 months pregnant rushing to get to the hospital because I thought I was going into labor. The judge threw out the ticket. Neither of my sons have had any tickets and they are 24 and 28. Very crappy way to treat long term customers.

Progressive came out far cheaper than any other insurance company when I compared them, and I have been happy with them since I made the switch. The only downside is that they gave an unspecified "first time user" discount on my first premium, and said they couldn't know exactly how much my premium would be after that. But I checked the next time I got a bill (six months later), and it was still a good bit cheaper than what I had been paying (that first discount ended up being $50 off the first six months). At regular price, I still saved another $50 every six months from what I was paying before.

No one contacted me until numerous messages and days later or until I complained on their website. I have full coverage and rental. Since I was going to be possibly working out of state soon, I could not afford to be uninsured.
It is a no fault claim it was determined. I have to contact a new investigator now that is interrogating me and my family like we are criminals. They have all our statements and continue to offer no assistance with the rental and tell me it will be at least 5 days until they will DECIDE to cover me or not because I only had the coverage for 9 days. I have lost the chance of a very hard to get job because of this and my wife will lose hers if I can't bum rides for her to go to work daily. After an accident in September, my family was literally left stranded by Progressive. We were on the highway when someone stopped in front of us, leaving us with no options other than to break and hope the impact was not too bad. I could not get in touch with anyone from Progressive the day of the accident. We had to call someone to drive 2 hours out of state to pick us up at the police station. The next day, I finally was able to submit my claim. I waited two days and heard from someone within their last hour of business. The claims rep seemed more interested as to why I was traveling out of state than the car. I had to send IRS tax papers and utility bills to prove I was not lying about my state of residence.
I asked about utilizing the rental car service that I paid extra for and she stated that since I had added the service after paying my bill I could not use it. I asked about getting my son's car seat replaced. I purchased the car seat in March when he outgrew his infant carrier. The claims rep informed me that they would give me what they thought it was worth based off depreciation. So, I said if they believed the seat to only be worth $50, that's all I would get? And she said "Yup!" But I could not do this until she was satisfied that I was not lying about where I lived and I had to take the car seat to a local Progressive office - she couldn't even tell me where one was.
After a few weeks (and a few emails) of waiting to hear something back from her, my husband and I decided to buy a new car and new car seat. We also decided that after October, we would be getting new car insurance. We feel that Progressive looks for every little thing they can to not pay out on policies. They even went as far as telling me that I was not a customer long when I had been for well over 6 months. I just had renewed my policy! No one needs an insurance company that does not trust their customer though!

We just received notice that Progressive is refusing to renew our policy due to too many claims, 3 out of 4 of which were somebody else's fault! They also claimed a 5th claim that I ended up not following through with because the damage was minimal - they didn't pay a dime on that claim and they're still filing it as a claim against us! What a terrible company to penalize its customers for wrecks that aren't their fault. So, if you go with Progressive for your insurance carrier, better make sure nobody runs a red light and hits you because they're going to penalize YOU for it!

Purchased an auto insurance policy for a new vehicle, filled out all of the particulars and paid initial payment. On the way to DMV was pulled over as vehicle had no current tags, officer said the paperwork Progressive had provided me was not legal in my state. Called Progressive's help line and explained I needed an online insurance card or an email with the correct documents. The person on the phone with me seemed to have a decent command of the english language, but seemed utterly befuddled as to how to provide the documents. The officer left me with over 700 dollars worth of tickets. I was very lucky the car was not towed.
Somewhere between the 20 and 30 minute mark the Progressive helper sent me emails with the "correct" documents. Having printed the new documents I went to the DMV to license the vehicle, 3 hours later my number was called at the DMV, where the clerk rejected the documents. I got home and contacted Progressive, after being hung up on twice, I asked for an immediate refund and to cancel the policy. I was given a name and a reference number. This all occurred on 9/23/15, I was "insured" with Progressive for less than 6 hours. It is currently 10/4/2015 and I have received no refund.
To summarize, Progressive sold me a bogus policy costing me over 700 dollars in tickets and adding dings to my driving record, they then wasted over 3 hours of my time, and to follow it up they stole my insurance payment. I was hit by another driver on the highway last month. The driver of the truck tried to pass me and didn't give herself enough room and drove into my car. The woman had two other passengers with her and never once did she come over to see if I was alright. The police came out and we proceeded to go through the proper channels. It was about 10 minutes later I made it home safely and called Progressive. I explained what happened and they made me think everything would be fine.
Going on two weeks now and haven't heard back so I called them. Basically they don't know who is at fault and they will only pay this amount even though that won't get anything fixed. I think it all went south after we talked and I gave my statement and told them it was nothing mechanical but the other driver caved my door in and it won't open.
Now there were no witnesses since it was on the highway but even a moron could look at the damage to our vehicles and determine I was not at fault. To make matters worse the other driver said in her statement that "She tried to pass me and I swerved into her". Called back a few days ago and asked if they were going to send our so-called claims representative out to take pictures. No joke she said "I thought you wanted to go through with getting the mini tort?" “Yes I do but you still have to come out and take pictures for the claim.” Now it makes it look like I staged it even though I called right after it happened. At this point it would be cheaper to buy the parts for my car and fix it myself. As soon as this is all over, Progressive...you have lost another customer!

The only problem is that my next premium went through roof because without asking or telling me, they added him to my policy.
Also, they said he'd had an accident that February in Colorado but since Progressive is lazy and incompetent, they only saw someone with his name had an accident. They didn't do any checking beyond that... It was his father. To make a long story short it took months and many hours to get that issue resolved. Progressive charged me $179 which is outrageous and they call it administrative charges (???). I have moved in the past and changed insurances and haven't got any charges.
I feel CHEATED by progressive as they have not disclosed the rate that will be charged (almost one month of charges), also they didn't even try to ask why I'm changing to other company and if they can do anything about it (very bad business). They simply responded that I had to pay $179. I have been customer for more than a year and paid all the premium on time and only after asking why I'm getting charged and then they say it was due to administrative charge and other crappy explanation. BEWARE OF PROGRESSIVE. I was recently t-boned on the I-10 freeway in AZ in rush hour traffic by the young 20 y/o daughter of one of their policy holders. She crossed 3 lines and t-boned me into the cement guardrail of the freeway. She provided two different statements of the incident within the police report and to the claims adjuster. Once the police report became available and was confirmed that she lied, the insurance adjuster suddenly changed his position and stated a lug nut from a diesel punctured her tire resulting in her actions not that she was struck by another vehicle which she claimed she didn't get a description of within the police report.
They no longer used her statement of events that the truck hit her but conjured a lie saying it was actually the lug nut of a diesel that punctured hit her tire. The pictures of her tire clearly shows 4 slashes consistent with her tire scraping against something not a lug nut puncturing through. 29 days later the claims adjuster denied liability. It was clear that she lied about what happened.
Progressive will lie and manipulate a situation for their benefit to avoid paying claims. The driver also recently submitted a claim under her uninsured motorist coverage. The outcome of that situation will be interesting... I'm certain they will eventually pay her claim since my vehicle was a 2013 Sonata which was considered totaled and her injuries will result in a lesser payout. Very dishonest company. They will make up a scenario for their policy holder to avoid paying a claim. This is unethical and should be against the law!

But woke up 2015 with an amount sent over to collection from Progressive. I call and they couldn't find it, then they looked at an old 2 month policy that was quickly cancelled because of the new one and said they notified by mail of the amount going to collections.
I had an active account still so anyone could have called me and notified me since I was in school and was away of the amount! I even called them and she stated we were only looking at one policy. Hmm well when I called to cancel and pay off anything remaining you look at the entire account by itself. So they forward me to escalations and of course briefed her on what was going on so she is prepared and the woman argued with me that "no one can take care of it, it's your fault and you can call the number and pay it and discuss it with them." I am like "yea call so they can make me pay it of course." I am glad I left their business alone and did not expect to be speaking to them 3 almost 4 years later. I talked to the adjuster from my insurance, but she said there is nothing they can do. I sent them the evidence of the pics of my damaged car, explained everything in detail, but they did nothing. I felt so sad. As a international student living in another country I felt helpless. I have heard so many students like me had similar unfair treatment.
Simply because I didn't defend myself after the car accident made me in such a place. I was scared and don't know what happened when I was hit, and it took me a while to realize that I was hit by a car behind me which claim was on the left side of me. How can a car hit my car on the right back side when was driving on my left side? It was so obvious I was not responsible for the car accident. Right after I had created a policy with Progressive, I added my 16 year old little sister on because her adopted mother took her off her insurance because my sister caught her stealing her money. During the process, I was NOT told that my sister and I needed to be under the same roof and I was not asked by the agent. Soon later, my sisters adopted mom got a hold of my information and my policy number, so I wanted a new policy number so she couldn't do anything harmful. However, in order to do that, I had to create a new policy. Initially, they told me there would be no cost considering the circumstances. I went through a process (that took 55 minutes) to change my policy. I had already paid my month's bill and the next bill would have reflected my sister being added on, which I was under the same impression and I was specifically told there would be no cancellation fee.
Two days later, a negative $189.63 and a $50.00 cancellation fee was taken from my debit card account. I called them immediately to figure what was going on, and they told me in order to change policies and now adding my sister on, I had to pay the difference, plus a cancellation fee for my previous policy. First, I never wanted a whole new policy, I just wanted a new policy number. Second, I was TOLD that there would be no charge, but in total, I had to pay an additional $80.00 dollars plus the $169.00 I had already paid for the month. $249.63 was taken out of my pockets.
Then on top of all that, I was asked if my sister lived in the same house as me by the supervisor and I said "No, not at this time." Which was only because my sister was in the process of moving in with me. However, they ran with that and said that I cannot continue my policy with Progressive as long as she's on it, so after the 6 month period, it would be cancelled (they put me on hold for an hour to talk to that supervisor).
A few days later, I get another call saying that I have until September 10th to provide documentation of her living at the same location as me, or else I would have to remove her or I would have to cancel my policy. I was not able to complete that request by that date, so I called on September 9th to remove her from my policy (until I could get the documentation) but when I attempted that, they said they were going to cancel my policy altogether and I could no longer have insurance with them. I had to pay an additional $33.00 for the cancellation fee.
The whole experience was extremely stressful and confusing. I was told the wrong information time, after time. They never had their facts straight. The only thing they refunded was the cancellation fee of $50.00, AFTER I yelled at two people. The company is greedy, unsympathetic, disorganized and has HORRIBLE customer service. Their employees need some training on the information they tell people. It all started with me just wanting a new policy number to protect myself, and the only thing they did for me is take my money that was for bills and leave me struggling to find new insurance.

There were 4 lanes where the accident happened. We were both entering the same lane when we gently tapped @ equivalent points on the car. I immediately moved back into my original lane making sure no car was in the way. We pulled over, I got out of the car, walked over and asked if she was okay as she was still sitting in her car. She said she was fine. And as she continued to sit in her car, she poked her finger out the window barely looking at the side of her car and said, "That was there before." I stepped back, looked at her car and said, "That's old damage!"
I walked over to my car and there was virtually no damage, just a ripple (3 dimples or indentations) in the right wheel well and absolutely no paint loss or chips anywhere on the car. When the police arrived, he looked at my car, looked at her car and said to the woman (pointing to where she pointed earlier on her car) saying, "That's old damage!" Soon after another police officer arrived and took over. He was young. He didn't take my statement, spent his entire time with the other woman.
Overlooked by All: 1. There was no ticket given. 2. The 1st Trooper on scene that saw the old damage, he's being overlooked. 3. In the police report the officer said, "I was unable to describe the incident." Even though he was apparently gave a falsified report which is being overlooked. 4. My pictures I took the day of the accident and sent to Progressive were overlooked by Progressive. 5. The report the adjustor wrote that said there was a 2 inch difference, basically stating there was no way I could've caused that damage was overlooked. 6. The lady was speeding/passing on the right hand (slow) lane. 7. The other lady had two children in the car and one was in the front seat and was not properly restrained (the point, I'm trying to make here is that the officer overlooked everything in this case).
The Consequences: The accident was deemed 100% my fault. I asked the woman to not go through my insurance and she said, "Oh this is an old car. I won't even get this fixed." This woman was dishonest from the start and is taking advantage of the system. My insurance will go up to $5000 a year (this is not a joke) because only one insurance company will take me after having this claim. Why would Progressive knowingly pay out to a person committing insurance fraud?

The claim was cancelled, the last contact I had with a rep was stating the claim was cancelled. I try to get a new auto policy a year later and my rates have tripled. I have no idea why. My agent tells me it's about this claim. Apparently the other guy went to the hospital a week later and claimed to be injured--a 22 year old healthy black male. They paid him 7000 for bodily injury and never truly investigated his claims. There is NO way this man was injured in our minor collision. Every time I call in I speak to someone who doesn't have a clue about customer service, as they jump straight to business and immediately ask why you are calling in like you are bothering you. Gone are the days of "how is your day going?" or "How are you".
My car is an older car that isn't worth much money, yet Progressive seems to think that my deductible needs to be higher each time I renew. I have just the bare bones basics and pay over 60+ dollars. I moved a ways down the street and that was justification enough to raise my rate with no apology. I pay on time every month through autopay and every time I call in I get a rep that either doesn't care at all, or is downright rude. (I've called a max 3 times since I've had the policy.)
This is a very poorly run company and checking rates with the competition I seem to be over paying by a whole lot. Poor customer service and shady ways to increase deductibles means that if you're looking for a company that values their customers, stay very far away from Progressive, as the only thing progressive about the company is the consistent rate increases and extremely unmotivated customer service.

Called Progressive 9/05/15, locked keys in truck. At first I was told my truck wasn't on the policy, had to read off the vin numbers. She found it... "we are sending someone, should be there at 8:50 p.m." No one. Called Ideal the towing company, they stated he would be coming!!!! Back and forth with Progressive telling them I have 3 small sickly kids, one 70 year old woman, and my health isn't that great to please find someone so I can get out of this park it's dark.
I asked the drivers several times how long it will be before he reaches us? He keep giving me different times and how many miles he was away from us??? I'm very unhappy with the services Progressive called themselves providing last night. I'm going to try my best to get my father to leave them... it was after 10:30 p.m. when he did make it after the police told him to stay where he was, he would bring him to us! He pulled up with a lady in his s-10 truck radio up loud, gets out smoking! This is what we pay for???

When I canceled with Progressive they charged me $55 even though I paid for a full month and an opening fee, I had coverage for 15 days! So I'm on a light and the light turns green with me going straight. The Progressives driver comes out of the ramp, hits me, and drives on the sidewalk. So we stopped, exchanged insurance, made a claim. Ruby ** is handling my claim, she emailed me requesting information. I told her in words how and where it happened but she didn't understand, until I drew her pictures and took new photos of the area. Ok so 1 week goes by I call Ruby 2 times, on the 3rd she answers and says "oh I talked with our driver but we need more information, you can get an estimate only".
Ok so today was week 3... I call Ruby at 12:05 pm, 12:20 pm and 12:30 pm, I talked with Kathleen and she said she will leave Ruby a memo. At 4:30 pm still no call and Ruby is there 8 am to 5 pm. I asked for the manager at ** and he didn't pick up at first either, got in touch with him and I asked him "why is it taking so long and why is Ruby neglecting me via phone and email". He said they are unable to get in touch with their driver and if I can't wait call my insurance and let them handle it... then he said "can you wait one moment, can you do that for me", and hung up. Now if they deny my claim I can sue them with the video from my dash cam?

For my first time buying a car, having to get full coverage on it seemed like a lot. Progressive made it sound easy. Until they actually had to handle my claim. I turned too sharp one morning, hit a pole on my passenger side, and was immediately undriveable. A few days later my claim representative TYLER ** calls me to tell me my car is totaled. I'm in shock. I hit a pole going not even 10 mph and my car I just got 4 months ago is totaled??? Yes because progressive only quotes brand new car parts so that right there is half the overpriced cost. After they total my car out. My only next option is for them to tow it to junk yard. (So they could get more money out of it, I would never see/ go towards my $4,000 interest I still had sitting with me even after my insurance paid the Kelly Blue Book to my lien holder.)
So now I'm telling Tyler I still want to keep my car. I wanna fix it myself for what the car shop has got my estimate down to $1500. He tells me for days I have no other option but to let them come tow it so everything can process. (Their check to the lien holder and their money to come from the parts on my car at the junkyard.) This is where it got ugly on the phone and I told him I would be doing this right here- telling everyone how awful he handles claims and doesn't help- because I knew I could buy that car back from my insurance and he never offered and said I couldn't for day after day.
He says one day he talked to his supervisor and here's what we can do. We can sell the car back with a salvaged title and tries to tell me that's not what I was asking the whole time because I just wanted to buy the car. I didn't say anything about salvaged. This guy is just getting me word for word and not helping always sounds like he's just taking his time to get back to me. Has never answered my call, always has to call me back. Final straw with him was this past week. Wednesday he calls to tell me he is OVERNIGHTING my title to me. I need to take it and switch it to salvage, send him a picture of proof, then he'll have my car towed back to my shop (where they towed it to an off lot of their choice to be held for collateral ).
Friday evening comes and I didn't receive a title yet. I think okay if he overnighted it Thursday it should be here today so I call Tyler to find his phone is off. Saturday comes and goes. No title and his phone is still off. Sunday I don't think they run but if they do same thing, no title and his phone is still off. Monday morning he calls me to tell me he tracked it and it was to be delivered today. I go, how does that make sense for overnight shipping? It's been 4 business days. His explanation is simply it's fedex's fault. Well I was determined to see about that one.
As soon as the FedEx lady arrived at my house that morning I walked out and greeted her and asked simply if this package was an overnight package. She pointed directly to the package and says "No. Right here it's says it's for two day delivery!" I immediately call Tyler and ask why did he tell me I would have overnight shipping when I didn't. He simply says that he himself l was not in charge of shipping it and he was sorry! 3 different occasions I have this representative telling myself, myself and my boyfriend that he was definitely overnighting it.
I was expecting to have the title switched that same Friday, my car be towed back to the shop and it would be getting worked on right now. But you know what? None of that has happened bc I am at the mercy of this awful claim rep. I have two jobs and this is has been the hardest month spending more money taking rides than I ever would just putting gas in my car. Literally breaking me and this claim rep acts as if it's not his job to assist me as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Although I have happily been with Progressive for over 6 years, today I was beyond frustrated with this company. I don't typically bash companies on the internet -- but in this case, I had to. My partner and I recently traded in both of our cars for a used truck. Before we purchased the truck, I called to get an insurance quote to be sure I could afford the monthly payments. Sure enough, the payments skyrocketed, but it was still super affordable. So we bought the truck! Yay! Of course today, I called to actually change my policy, and they told me that my monthly payment was over $40 more than what they quoted me. After being on the phone for 45 minutes, I finally got it so it was only $22 more than what they quoted me. I just took it.
Just out of curiosity, I shopped around. Although I wanted to be loyal to Progressive -- I figured what the heck. Sure enough, I found insurance for $10 less a month with Geico. To make it worse, my partner had just cancelled his policy with Geico hours before. He received many military discounts and loyalty discounts, but because he had cancelled his policy with Geico under the assumption that we were getting a deal with Progressive -- all of those discounts went away. So Progressive basically lied to us about our monthly payments and screwed us out of discounts and affordable monthly payments. I cancelled my policy immediately. Do not trust this company! They are liars!

It's really iffy how our policy varies in price from one month the next one month will be $150 the next could be $220 - who knows? Not once has my husband or I been in an accident or had a ticket, especially my husband who has been driving almost 30 years with no issues.
I'm disgusted by how unfair in their policy they are. When I received paper bills from them the price was way high but of course companies always say "Well that's counting this month" or whatever etc. I let it go. But now I receive the bill through email as soon as it comes out, of course I have the same issue. Then at one point it was only $60 a month - the lowest it's ever been, because I gave them my debit card number.
I think it's wrong that it's $60 if I give all my card information to them but at least $150 if it's not through my account. Needless to say, I'm done and looking for a different insurance company. After claim was submitted to them they called 2x to different agents from 2 different states, Ohio and PA. So they both got my story. What's next, right? My claim was denied. Progressive claims adjuster was rude. Said "you need witnesses and I'm a lawyer for the insured." 1st off he was reported for this. I'm a law student, I'd never daresay I'm a lawyer if I knew I wasn't, so I knew he lied!!! And he misrepresented the insurance company and their interests at hand. I am a shareholder of PGR so I understand why they'd be upset but come off it, man. The police saw it all, do you really wanna play this? He hired a poor lawyer who saw this case and probably grabbed a shot glass because his client was guilty as hell.
Since my family has a practice I wasn't swayed by his threats. In fact I loved it. He made a complete Jack@$$ of himself and Progressive Insurance had no choice but to discharge the claim with payment of satisfactory since it was in small claims court already. It made sense to settle but they chose to do it the hard way and that's why PGR sucks. It fails to stand for what is right even when their client is guilty as hell!!! Payment was processed before the due date and everything went well.
Then following week we got a call that our policy increased due to our Credit Score change??? Didn't make any sense. Then two days ago we got a letter from Progressive that and I'm quoting: "Your account has been listed with our company for collection. If paid in full to this office, all collection activity will be stopped." The amount was the $5 less than what we paid?? So I called them again to see what going on. He estimates around 1000 for the radio, headrest DVD players, window damage, and any other damages saying he could get used parts.
I was then told to take it to a shop, which took a week to find one because no one wants to deal with Progressive. While my car was in the shop I got called by Justin from Knoxville telling me how things were going to be. Had an attitude the whole time like I was a felon when I have been paying insurance with them for years. Then informed me I was told 3 different times to duct tape my window. Why would anyone duct tape their window. Before Justin I talked to a lady Rosanna who never returned my phone calls and informed me she was done with me.
Finally 3 weeks after my car was in the shop I talked to the estimator Greg who finally said he would write me a check for 1000. We never said that was the end of it during the call or anything. We go to pick up the check and it said final payment like this is all squared away. Went to pick my car up from the shop and the insurance company paid 500 and I was informed I still owed 200. Got in my car and they hadn't fixed anything. On top of that the adjuster that showed up to talk to the guy at the shop ordered a box of spray to clean carpets which was 60.00 and never showed back up to even pay the shop the money for the carpet cleaner.
When the cops came out they estimated 2,500 worth of damage and stolen property. We got our window fixed for 200 which we paid out of pocket and they wrote us a check for 1000. Tell me how that adds up. They are the rudest company and not all about customer service. They are always right and the customer is always wrong. This is July 21, 2015 and I just got my car back today and still have no radio, my carpets still have rain damage and my driver door buttons still don't work right. Looking up a better insurance company now. Never again will I go through them.

I was involved in an at-fault accident that I immediately took responsibility for, because that's the right thing to do. I contacted Progressive and made a claim immediately and explained the incident. They promptly took care of the people whose car I struck by giving them an immediate rental and offering to come out and quote the damage on their vehicle next day. On the other hand I have had nothing but issues with this claim as far as damage on my vehicle goes. They said they could not send anyone out to assess the damage on my vehicle for a week and a half and that I had to take my vehicle in to one of their service stations, which is an hour from my house.
I did this, on my only day off, and was then advised that I could not use who I wanted to for repairs. I wanted to use a family friend who's done repairs on all of my family's vehicles for years, since he doesn't charge an arm and a leg for labor and would help save on my deductible. I was advised that Progressive will not make out a check to him to have these repairs done and will only make the check payable to my lien holder (who I finance the car with) or pay another shop directly. This makes no sense to me, what does it matter who's fixing my car if you're going to pay out the same amount regardless? I've had no problems doing this with my former insurance company and will likely be canceling my policy with Progressive. In addition, the rep contacted me and hassled me about obtaining a rental car (which I pay for). This whole thing has been inconvenient.

Where to start. My boyfriend was paying about 190 some dollars for his insurance until they canceled his policy cause they said some lady said she was married on his insurance. He lost his platinum membership cause of this and his good pricing, why should he be punished? Now he pays about 380 and just recently he had three payment declined over six months, but the last payment wouldn't have been declined if the agent working for Progressive didn't tell him to ignore the letter he got. I called to complain, talked to this supervisor Shelia. She said she listened to the call but couldn't fix it cause accounting wasn't opened. She gave me a number to call back that was a number for someone named Lauren. So unprofessional.
My boyfriend has been bullied, shaken down and deceived by Progressive. We are both Progressive owners. We both will probably change our insurance company after this awful experience where the rude agents basically tell you there is no hope, no matter how long you stayed with their company. Definitely unsatisfied.

His car went underneath mine lifting my back end up at a considerable angle then slammed it down. From computer flying off, seat breaking, my windshield to my entire exhaust being ripped off, to wiring being mangled, frame damage, you name it, it broke. I'm from Oklahoma and was approx 300 miles from home in Lincoln, Nebraska when I was hit. Here it is more than a month later and I'm still stranded here with no end in sight. Progressive has got to be the biggest ripoff I've ever came across. My trailblazer is unsafe and can't be drove. And they won't pay for it, won't even meet me face to face. Stuck in Nebraska.

The name your price tool to fit your budget by Flo is a fake. After your six months Progressive increases your rate without even notifying you. When I told them I was on a fixed income my payments met my budget they said my increase was due because I was only offered a six month discount. That's not what the name your price tool commercial said. Then I was told based upon the number of claims submitted for my area the cost is spread out to all their customers. So I took the advice of one of your reviews and tried USAA. I wish I had them six months ago because I'm paying half of what I paid with progressive now that I've joined USAA.

I have been with Progressive Insurance for several years. I have had a clean record the whole time and for several years before that. Progressive claims they offer accident forgiveness, but like all insurance companies it is a scam. It has a bunch of contingencies attached like the claim has to cost less than 500$. In this day and age it NEVER costs that little to fix a car. So, basically, what happens is that I end up not getting my car fix due to fear of them raising my rates. Why do we have insurance? To pay to get your car fixed in an accident, but we don't because they raise our rates even if you are a safe driver with a clean record!

I was happy to go with Progressive because its first 6-month premium was very competitive. However, this is a "suck you in" rate, and once the first 6 months passes, the cost increases, and the customer is charged for all claims, at fault or not. A man on my road gunned his truck out of his driveway and hit my car broadwide on the column between the front and rear seats, totalling the car. I was able to avoid hitting a yard light and the home of his neighbor and had no injury. I did have an at-fault accident when I went in the ditch as a result of a road construction sign (no injury).
Six months later, a deer ran in front of my car, and my choice was to hit it or go into a house (no injury). The at-fault accident was the first driving infraction I had had in almost ten years. My rate increased by over $500 per year for the first two accidents and $400 a year for the deer accident. My first premium was about $460/six months, and now the quote if over $1,000/six months. When I went to other companies for quotes, I found that Progressive refuses to complete the fault section of the information sent to Lexis-Nexis (the company that keeps your driving stats and where insurance companies go to get your driving record), so that you are listed at-fault for all driving encounters. (As a result, other companies cannot give you competitive quotes, and this ensures your continued stay with Progressive.)
I filed a dispute with Lexis-Nexis which sent a copy of my dispute to Progressive. Progressive did not respond, even though their reps told me that they could see on my Lexis-Nexis report that I was listed as not at fault, a lie. I sent the accident report to Lexis-Nexis, and they confirmed in writing Progressive's lack of response to the dispute and they removed the not-at-fault accident from my record. I talked with a manager at Progressive and he said he was unaware that Progressive did this (right!). So, now I'm contacting companies again for quotes. I think Progressive is one of the most underhanded companies with which I have dealt.

After my accident they took my car to do an assessment and called it a total loss. They were fair enough with finding comparable cars but they then deducted a fairly large sum from every vehicle calling it the adjusted sale price, as if they know what the car will sell for. I contacted all the dealers they had listed and 5 of the 8 cars had already sold at or very near list price but the insurance company was still unwilling to readjust their price to reflect actual sold prices.
The next big thing they do is under rate the condition of the car to rob you of even more money. My car in a fair assessment was slightly better over condition than the norm for my year and mileage, making it 3.2 - 3.5 out of a 5 rating due to things like I hadn't power washed my car in a couple months and drive a gravel road semi regularly. My rating was partially knocked down to a 2.35 because of dirt, come on, dirt washes off. I have dealt with many insurance companies through the years for myself and family members but this was the first time with Progressive. It has been the worst experience I've ever had with any company. I am warning everyone I know to stay as far away from Progressive as they can if they want fair and honest treatment.

Our Yamaha boat was in our marina slip and we received a call in early June from the maintenance supervisor that our boat was sinking. While on the phone with him, we requested that he flip the bilge pump on until we could get to the marina and see what had occurred. We had experienced several days of heavy rain and due to the location and direction our boat was facing though that maybe it had taken on excessive amounts of water due to this. We cleared the boat out of water and waited until the next day to see if the boat would stay clear of water. Unfortunately, our boat took on water overnight and it was again sitting exceedingly low in the water. We tried to start the engines and they refused to turn over. One engine sounded as though it was attempting to turn and the other one just sounded as if it choked. We had the boat towed to the dock and removed it from the water.
We had contacted Progressive Insurance and notified them of the issues with the boat. After a day or two we received a phone call that we could drop it at a shop to get an estimate of what was wrong with the boat and the cost of repairs. It has been over a month since our claim was made and I have only heard from our adjuster 2 times in this process - the initial contact and once to get approval to do the flush of the engines by the company where the boat is located. Every occasion when I call the adjuster, I am sent straight to voicemail.
Today in the mail, I received a notice that our claim has been denied due to a worn hose that let water into our boat. At the bottom of the letter there is a large list of reasons they will not cover repairs to your boat. I haven't heard any news from the repair shop, so I phoned them today and notified them of this information and inquired as to why they hadn't called me to inform me of what was wrong with my boat. And the gentleman stated that it was because they hadn't done the estimate on it yet. How can Progressive make a claim denial when the shop still hasn't figured out what is wrong? I am so disappointed and frustrated by this process. My husband is deployed and I feel as though they are taking advantage of this situation.

Yeah the commercials, and ads are so convincing, however once you have paid for your policy, you will start noticing random changes on your policy that will result in you having to pay more money SOONER than your original billing date. The worst part is if you call customer service and ask them to explain the changes, they can't! I called and talked to 4 agents, all 4 were stumbling through their words trying to explain, I just gave up and hung up.
My story: I purchased insurance in March, I paid for up to 6 months so my next payment was not until September. In April I received an email saying that I had to pay $260 in May!?!? I called and was informed that this was incorrect and to not worry because I did not have to make a payment until September. In June I received another email saying that my policy has been cancelled due to missed payments!?!?!? I called and 2 customer service agents said that it was due to discount changes and the other 2 were just rude and unable to fully explain why this happened. Thought about getting it back but I think I'll just pass, things went south too quickly. One bad experience is all I need.

Progressive tells you that they are getting you all these great discounts and what not, but when asked on numerous occasions, they could never tell me the exact dollar amount of how much I was actually saving. Besides that, my premiums kept going up every six month.
When asked, Progressive stated that it was raised according to where I lived and the economy and a bunch of other BS. I then told them that I lived by myself in the country side about 1 hour away from the city with a population of about 15K people. I've never filed a claim, paid on time, been nothing but the ideal customer. Why was I being punished instead of rewarded?! They did not have an answer except gave me the runaround like, "Well if you bundle your homeowners insurance you can save some money..."
I finally said screw Progressive and switched to USAA. Shame on me for sticking around that long. People don't screw yourself by going with Progressive. Our employee was involved in an auto accident several months ago. It was 100% the fault of the other driver and the other driver was cited. The other driver was insured by Progressive. Progressive listed the vehicle as a 'total loss' but their settlement was several thousand less than what was owed. (We'd purchased the vehicle 'new' a month and a half prior and it had less than 500 miles on it.) When I questioned the gap between their offer and the pay off value, they recommended I file a claim with our insurance company for the difference. Doing so would impact our future rates and I rejected that offer.
Their offer letter gave us 48 hours to accept. When we didn't accept, they picked up the rental vehicle they provided us and we were forced to rent a replacement vehicle on our own. We spent $2k on rental fees, until we purchased a replacement. I sent Progressive a certified demand letter, asking them to 'act in good faith', and itemized our losses and expenses, but they never responded. Two days ago I received a certified letter from a local auto yard stating that our vehicle is being listed as "abandoned." I called to find out why and the representative said that Progressive has released the vehicle from their responsibility and we now have to go pick up the vehicle or it'll be sold. So we're going to incur more fees - that I'm certain Progressive will refuse to pay.
Something has to be done to stop Progressive's 'extortion-like' tactics. I have no problem seeking an attorney to recover all our losses but a general consumer may not have this ability - and these tactics could be financially crippling for them. I know exactly what Progressive is doing - they are working the percentages, betting that only a small percentage will actually file suit against them. What will it take for them to reform their MO? Perhaps a class action lawsuit? Any suggestions?

This sounds so great and all, and for awhile I was happy. UNTIL I found out that my insurance sales rep was just trying to get a quick sale. (I guess you get what you pay for.) He should've been more informative in that in the state of Georgia, if your car has a lien-holder, then you are REQUIRED to have full coverage.
The sales reps are trained to know this stuff. I'm 25 years old, I'm not an idiot. But there is so much stuff they say to you over the phone that I just want to get the best rate & be legal!! To start the agent told me completely wrong and said I should have all medical run thru my health insurance, wrong. I ended up having have everything re billed which delayed things further and dealing with collection agencies was horrible.
Then after trying to get a hold of my rep for a month I finally got in touch with her to find out that she was missing med docs that I told her I could have sent over to their office. After doing that I've now been trying to get in touch with her for OVER a month and she won't return my calls. I now have to hire an attorney just to get this stupid claim finished. I can't get the medical treatment I need because I can't afford to pay anymore co-pays so I'm sitting here praying she returns a call. Her excuse last time... "Oh, I've been planning an estate sale for my parents and I've been really busy." Really Progressive?? I was hit by a truck.
To add insult to injury they tried to use the accident against me, even though it was ruled 100% the other driver's fault and raised my rates from 61.00 to 123.00 per month. No thank you. I went with AllState - got better coverage for 67.00 per mo. on a new vehicle and I hit a raccoon just last month and they literally called me every other day to see if I had any questions on the claim. The body shop they go thru even loaned me a car so I didn't have to rent one. What a difference. I have been telling everyone I know to switch, which they have. I highly suggest not to go with Progressive, they'll take your money and screw you over in the end. It's been a sad and frustrating process.

On 10/01/2014 I was involved in an accident in my 2000 white Volkswagen Beetle with insurance. I reported the incident to Progressive Insurance claim department the same day to start the process. Within a week they had me meet an adjuster who would take pictures as part of the claims process. After a week I called to see what going on, only to be told that the other party said it was my fault. I denied that. Claimed and expected them to fight for me because I was victimized. Upon further investigation, I found out I had uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance. My agent never told me this and never called me back and my claim went unattended. The accident was proven by Progressive that I was not at fault. Now that I have brought it to their attention they are giving the runaround. Now I have a different agent who had the nerve to have an attitude because I want answers.
I have tried to speak with corporate only to be directed to another Progressive agent that gave me limited information. My policy covered this type of accident and my agent refused to assist me in using that insurance. I was mishandled, mislead, lied to and betrayed by a company I trusted. I have made all the calls with promises of call back which never happened. They are putting me off so they can find a way to not pay my claim. The Progressive agent acted in BAD FAITH and gave me useless information to get me off the phone. In the meanwhile my car when unfixed, I was injured and no one never called or pointed me in the correct direction. My car untimely suffered because the adjuster failed to take enough pictures and now they say they need another look at my car before they will offer me any compensation. They are putting me on hold again with the hopes that I will just sit back and wait on them.
I have never felt disrespected or betrayed by any type of company I trusted to have my best interest. I have been without a car ever since. I have missed out on jobs as well as family business because I was carless. To add insult to injury they want to give me the run around all while finding ways to lowball my claim. I have been duped by a multi-Billion dollar corporation. I only want what's owed to me and to be made whole again without more lies and run around tactics. This situation has caused me great anxiety and sadness to know that people would steal your money with no intention of ever helping you get better. They are pulling me from every direction and I am about to break.
I paid them so diligently that I overpaid and they never said you are overpaying. They are thieves who steal from hard working individuals like myself for their own self gain. This is a horrible way to do business and it's been done to me because I made a claim. They had hoped I'd forget and then say the statute of limitation has run out and they wouldn't be held accountable anymore. As of now that is not the case, I have a legitimate claim. They said it was proven not to be my fault, they contacted the other party with information I provided, only to lie to me. They said, "it's he say, you say and if you go ahead with this claim your insurance will go through the roof." They lied, I was eligible. They should of assisted me all along.

I have been paying $106 a month for my 05 Subaru sti for full coverage. I have been with this company for 5 years even though when I was in accidents (all not my fault), they never helped - I still kept them for some reason. My policy was ending this month so they gave me my new premium and now they want me to pay $136 a month when I have no accidents or tickets. The person I talked to on the phone said the increase is because I do business with them. Absolutely ridiculous, Progressive is a joke.

Please whatever you do, look into another insurance company. Progressive are robbers and thieves. I got in a car accident and the other party was in the wrong but because the other party had Progressive as well as I, they lied about who were in fault so they would not have to pay the extra money for the full damages for my vehicle. I was backing out of my drive way barely moving. The other party was speeding 40 miles per hour in my neighborhood. Did not stop at the stop sign. And the speed limit is 15 miles per hour. I was the one who got hit and my car was damaged, her car was fine. The police gave her (the other party) a citation because she was at fault. And Progressive said I was 80 percent in the wrong and she was only 20 percent in the wrong. I was only given money for 20 percent of the damages, not enough to buy another car. Please whatever you do, look into another insurance company. Progressive are robbers and thieves.

They quote very low rates to hook you. They actually sign you up and insure you for your cars. But after a month or two, they start hitting you with dramatic additional fees. They more than doubled my policy without notice and demanded $3800 within two weeks because some consumer reporting agency said that some 16-yo driver lived at my address. I had to prove that someone who does not exist does not live at my house. NIGHTMARE COMPANY!!!

On 3-15-2015 a drunk driver, who was arrested on-site, crashed his car into my residence. The crash total two of our cars and caused damage to the property and our house. Progressive was the insurer of the drunk driver; Progressive handled the claim by endless and endless requests for documentation, after we sent what they requested, only to have requests for more paper work, pictures, etc. - all work that Progressive could have done themselves - never giving any reasons for not paying for the damages, which is required under Pennsylvania Law.
After waiting for nothing, we had to file a lawsuit, and currently waiting for our hearing on June 30th, 2015. After the filing, no calls or contact from Progressive to-date. This claim goes through their Malvern, PA claims center. These people are monsters and run an illegal operation. All the hype and nonsense with Flo (Flow) sp. on TV just to hook more sales for policies; more people need to know about Progressive insurance and how they run the operation.

My son bought his first car less than a year ago. It was stolen from his work in April first thing in the morning. Police report was made and Progressive Insurance was notified. Of course the way they talked to my son and I on the phone was as if they knew it all and we were supposed to be guilty for his car being stolen. The questions they asked were like, "Was the car driven out of the country?" Just because we live in New Mexico does not mean we take off to Mexico. Lots of insinuating questions which bothered me because the lady on the phone from Phoenix sounded racist to me. My son was desperate to find his car and we and his friends drove all over Albuquerque for days and nights to see if we would spot the car. Progressive was not very cooperative at all and my son had to constantly make the calls to them with no result.
Finally the thieves blew out the engine and abandoned the car. Since the car is under my son's name, naturally the cops called my son. He went and had the car towed to a shop but also immediately contacted Progressive. Three weeks have gone by since the car was found and they have not done anything. Every time my son calls them, they make him feel like it all is his fault. They are now stating that the car engine was blown out before it was stolen which just does not make sense. They don't get it that the thieves drove that car when they stole.
This experience with Progressive has been a nightmare. One of the reviews posted said that she was in an accident and it was the other person's fault and he had Progressive Insurance and they immediately fixed her car. I am sure this is how Progressive lures other to buy their insurance and once you are under their hook, then when the time comes to take car of their clients, they make excuses and try to come up with stories to not fix your car.
This is the worst insurance company ever. I do not recommend this insurance company to anyone. I understand they have to get to the bottom of the truth but without them ever trusting their clients and having faith in them, a company like this should not exist at all. This company steals money from you in the form of insurance and when it is time for them to take care of their clients - they are not available for contact, they do not have time to contact you, or they concoct their own stories and make you feel at fault. If anyone is thinking of getting any kind of insurance, please do not get Progressive because when the time comes for them to take care of you. Progressive does not make any kind of progress...they come to a standstill and watch you get frustrated.

Hit something in the road and blew out two trailer tires. Call for roadside assistance and was denied because they had my 5th wheel travel trailer classified as a motor home. They paid for trailer damage and minor truck damage but would not budge on the denied roadside assistance claiming it was my fault for the misclassification. I filed complaints with both the Ca and Tx insurance commissioners (pol. bought in Ca, accident in Tx). Both said to either get a lawyer or arbitrate with a referee. Well arbitration with progressive costs money and I can't find a lawyer that will represent on a contingency.
After exhausting both avenues with CA and Tx commissioners and making final pleas with progressive that are now actually denying that road side assistance was ever even requested, now that has really pissed me off, I found the phone record of that call and contacted the company anonymously and sure enough they do have record of me calling? I am a disabled man and had to crawl under our 5th wheel to change tires with semi screening by at 80mph, my wife in tears because she just knew I was going to get hit and Progressive just didn't give a damn.
Now 7 months later they actually think we owe them money and it has appeared on my credit report. I am so furious at this company. Even if they would just accept their mistake and apologize that would be better than their complete lack of integrity, morals and ethics. (LESSON LEARNED!!!) P.S. People wonder why some folks just snap and go and do something horrible, well that's why!

I call for a quote and ask for multiple quotes from other companies because they seem to PRIDE themselves on trying to get the best quotes for their customers. SADLY after asking multiple times for quotes when I had this feeling he was only in it for Progressive... I was told 3 quotes... come to find out they were ALL Progressive and he told me the lowest of ways to pay for them... I accepted the lowest way I could pay it and then after getting off the phone realized that I may have just been forced into a sale without EVER hearing another quote from another company, no competition... just lying saying "these are the lowest quotes" and saying he would give me those extra quotes after giving him the info he asked for... I DID NOT get the LOWEST, I DID NOT GET ANY competition! They did not fight to have my business, they lied and continued with their agenda...
When I got off the phone realizing I may have not got the best of quotes but still got insurance (I run a company and must get something immediately) I decided to do my own research to see if they had done their job of competing for my business... they had not and I found out within a week or so I was being overcharged and had multiple other options! I call and tell them they swindled me into their insurance company and told them how they had not lived up to their end of the bargain, and I want a FULL RETURN OF THE MONEY I have handed them that I have now been proven to have given them under FALSE pretenses... turns out they won't give my money back and definitely NOT in FULL.
They also expect me to follow procedure and "law" which orders them to ask personal questions about my vehicle and registration and point being, they WON'T hand my money back without me pulling more money (that I don't have) out of my ass to BUY another policy from someone else, THEN they MUST talk to them to PROVE I have the policy before they consider giving back money THEY STOLE from ME. I don't have another insurance with that vehicle because I don't have MONEY they took from me to buy another!!
You lied to take my money and then want to follow exacts to keep my money! Give me my money back you theives and if the law wants to suspend my license because I’m without insurance. So be it!! I’d rather be completely away from your ** company and fighting a suspended license issue. That my choice.

Husband and I started a car insurance policy for 2 cars of Full Coverage about a year ago with Progressive. Received the quote was very satisfied with the premium rate. 6 months later time to renew, and there was a $16/mo increase. The next renewal $22/mo increase...the next renewal was a $39/mo increase...No Accidents, No changes in our driving history, no points or anything on either license...no changes occurred at all! Part 2 of this fiasco is In January. We requested a quote asking how much it would be to add our son to our policy who was purchasing a car that day...They told us the ridiculous amount and we of course said "No thank you, he will get his own through another company." That was Jan 23rd of 2015.
In May of 2015, I received a new declaration page showing a increase for our premium with a name added to our policy, only they had his first name correct but last name was incorrect. I called to question this and Progressive informed me that because we questioned about adding him on, they ASSUMED he was a member of our household and added him to our policy. Really!!! I was then informed I needed to fill out an Exclusion form to have him removed from policy that they would send me, sign it and send back. They had name wrong for him, birthdate incorrect, but if that's who they put on our insurance then please take him off...Signed it and sent it back.
Then I was informed that we needed to correct his birthdate on the form in order to take him off. I could not understand if you put him on without having correct birthdate why can't you take him off the same way. Now I feel they are trying to screw with me...but I corrected birthdate and sent the form again. So now the there's still an increase in the next payment due and I was informed that they wanted us to pay for coverage for my son from 4/1315 to 5/13/15. Are they crazy!!! I informed them "We will not do it and that you cannot bill me for something I did not request to have done and also he had his own coverage starting from 1/23/15 to present." So now they said I can send in that proof. Just way too much.
So after being a Progressive member and going this within first 2 years, we have now CANCELLED our policy with them. PLEASE DO NOT obtain car insurance from Progressive...They said if a driver lives in your house they automatically and add them to your policy...That's BS and I'm still considering reaching out to the Insurance Commissioner about this. Have a Good Day!

I was the victim of someone running a red light. He stated he knew his brakes were not working. I also had an eye witness. I had the green light - started to go and just because when I was asked if I looked to the right when I went and I said no, Progressive will not pay for my vehicle to get fixed. I was being honest - I didn't have time to look. It all happened so fast. What makes me more angry is that I myself did all of their work on my end - I took photos, emailed them to Progressive, picked up my police report with the witness' statement on it and faxed it myself. They had to do nothing, I did it all myself so I could get in a rental car faster and of course they said 50/50 which makes not sense to me due to the fact he admitted to running the light and my eyewitness say it all...
This is the 1st wreck I have been involved in and I guess being honest doesn't pay off anymore. Progressive used that one statement against me. I guess from now on I need to look to the right and left every time I go through a red light and not pay attention to what is in front of me. Very disappointed with the treatment I got with Progressive. I'm sure the driver that hit me is quite happy about the turn out. Progressive is all about saving a dollar and not about doing the right thing for the victim!!!
