Online process is easy to understand and always functioning with no lags or outages. Prefer online process over call center, which includes long wait-times to speak to a representative, as seems the norm for large auto insurance companies. You'll get what you need but at a price. Rates are getting higher and higher, no matter your driving record. Now that pot is becoming legal in so many states, we're going to see higher auto insurance rates to cover the idiots who get high and drive. I hate it. I don't want to pay to cover some **'s dumb decision to get behind the wheel high. I don't feel like insurance is worth it anymore. Safe, responsible drivers are taking on too much of a burden for idiots who smoke ** or do other drugs or drink behind the wheel. Always professional, sometimes cheerful, polite, and helpful customer service. Hard-working people just trying to make a living for themselves and their families.

Have never used its claims department. The one time I could have it was cheaper to just fix the issue. The phone support was good and helpful. They are not the cheapest but the service has been worth the extra cost. The people are great and does the job. Coverage explanation could be better. The cost is usually worth the extra cost but sometimes it doesn't matter. Company is good at being there 24/7. Good people, nice and knowledgeable.

Bought a car end of July 2016. Insured with Progressive. Signed up for auto-pay, so I figure everything is fine. On October 6, I receive my new chip card from my credit union, and forgetting I was signed up using my bank account, I went to the website to change my payment method. There I see that they cancelled me on September 28. I immediately called and they said they had sent me something requesting additional proof of residence, which I never received. Mind you, I received everything else they sent me - policy and three different declarations pages due to previous changes in method of payment. I asked why I was not notified of the impending cancellation - no letter, no email - NOTHING. I later found out that they had "determined", through the credit reporting agency, that I really lived at an address I have not lived at in 15 years. THAT is where they sent the cancellation letter.
I was told that I could write a new policy with a local agent--with a lapse for the period since they cancelled me - and at a higher rate. I was livid, but asked for a local agent. They gave me one, and I called immediately. I was told that they were very busy as it was Friday and lots of people come to write new policies on Fridays. They would call me back later. Insurance agencies here are closed all weekend, so Monday I called back and they said they'd return my call in a little while. Now, all this time, I can't drive because I was cancelled - and decided to try and write the new policy because I was sure that since I had no claim in the interim that I would be reinstated or be written a new policy with no lapse. I used to work for an insurance regulating agency and this was common practice. Every day I call, and they never called me back.
Wednesday, I borrowed a car and went there, wrote a new policy - with the lapse - they said they couldn't do it without - gave my routing number - and was ready to sign - and then, when I was informed that I would have to pay a fine to the DMV, I got a little upset - assuring them it was not them I was angry with, and the agent I was speaking to says, "Maybe you should go somewhere else"!!! Then I said, "Well, maybe I should" - and the owner says, "She's been with you for 40 minutes and this is how you treat her?" Needless to say, I left. I was angry.
In the car, I called Progressive and asked for a supervisor. He was very rude and basically told me I was wrong. Went home, called GEICO and bought a policy with them. They email AND text in the case of a problem. Then, I made a complaint to the Department of Insurance. Two weeks later, I get a call from them telling me I was right and they had acted counter to the regulations and would be required to reinstate the policy to show no lapse. I no longer owe a fine to the DMV - and feel vindicated. If a company does something and you're sure they're wrong, DO SOMETHING. ANYONE WITH A LEGIT PROBLEM - CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE IN YOUR STATE. It could save you a small claims case and a lot of grief...

While I had no problems with this company, the misery began when it was time for renewing my policy. I received a renewal invoice for $43 monthly payment, including $196 unexplained charge. I called the company, spoke with Judy, asked her to explain the $196 charge. She couldn't. After going back and forth for about 3 months with no solution and receiving 2 additional 'late payment' notices referencing the invoice above, the invoice was sent to collections. That company placed this item in my credit file as a 'collection'. To date, I have not been able to solve this issue. I still don't know what the $196 charge is for, the debt collector won't remove the item from my credit. My only choice: pay it to get it removed from my file. Not a company I recommend or will do business with ever again.

I was involved in an accident on October 21, 2016 with one of their customers. I had to file the report because their customer didn't. After 48 hours I was contacted by the Rep. and after that day everything went south. I never heard from anyone, I called daily and sent emails. Had my estimate done and still never heard from anyone and the repair shop couldn't even get an answer from them while I was waiting. I had to call the General contact line just to speak to someone. It wasn't until November 4th that the Rep. finally answered my call only to tell me that my claim was transferred to another Rep. on November 2nd. I left her messages to get no call back and kept calling until once again I had to call the general number to speak to a Rep and guess who answered? My supposed Claim Rep.
She stated she thought my car was at the shop. How when no one had ever called me. They don't feel like they do anything wrong and expect "I'm sorry" to fix everything. They are terrible!!! My car just got to the shop on November 15th. And I had to initiate that. People insured by them should have Progressive written across their cars so other drivers would know to stay clear because you drive at your own risk around them because Progressive doesn't like to take responsibility and don't know how to treat their customers.

My Dad owned a body shop for over 30 years so I KNOW the importance of never driving a FOOT without car insurance. I had a single vehicle, no one hurt, nothing messed up wreck. Indiana requires proof of insurance... which APPARENTLY Progressive was SUPPOSED to have provided. Long story short... they didn't. That was THREE YEARS AGO and I am STILL paying for it. My insurance is over 40% higher. Thanks to them not sending the state of Indiana a GD piece of PAPER. Don't waste your time with this company. Their agents have no idea what they are doing and don't care if they cost YOU hundreds of dollars and YEARS of grief over something you did NOTHING wrong.

We have been insured by Progressive boat insurance for almost three years, and this summer in late August we hit something in open water damaging our outdrive rendering it inoperable. Although we have paid our premiums in full and on time faithfully Progressive refused to pay any damages amounting to $4000.00 even though they admitted that we did have a collision. They say it was normal wear and tear and they will not cover any of the damage. Really this company is nothing short of a rip off and a joke. Steer clear unless you enjoy throwing money away for nothing!!!

Progressive Insurance is terrible. I was in an accident on Oct 15, 2016. Due to someone side swiping me. Their fault. I call my insurance company the day after, explain what happened (No issue). They ask me a few questions. They said they'll get a hold of the other party, find fault, request police report (No issue). Days pass, no call. So I called my agent, no answer, left a message, no call back. Days pass, no call back, call my agent, left message, no call back. OKAY? Starting to feel ignored.
Finally after two weeks, my agent called me back, came off as very rude and made it seem like I'm bothering her. Kept interrupting me, was extremely unprofessional. She stated she can have an insurance adjuster come out within days. Set up a date, NO ONE came. So I called my agent, no answer. This goes on for a month. FINALLY my adjuster comes out. Looks at my car and says "okay 'i'll have you a check in the mail, $900." I had my car looked at and a body shop quoted me $1,500. I tell my adjuster this and he ignores me and basically leaves. So I'm still dealing with this. PROGRESSIVE is HORRIBLE. I'm dropping them and going to STATE FARM.

In Feb of 2016 I took my car to the Progressive Service Center in Midvale, UT and made 3 claims. Progressive CHOSE Service King Collision Repair Centers in Draper, UT as the body shop. My bumper was one of the parts replaced. The bumper was refurbished, and the paperwork stated there is a LIFETIME WARRANTY on the work.
I was driving from Salt Lake City to Cedar City. This was the first time since the repair was done that I had taken my car out on the open road. Before this trip, I was driving my car for work in the city. Within 1 hr of my drive I heard a noise coming from the rear of my car, I looked into my rearview mirror and saw my entire bumper fly up into the air off of my car to the left. It was very fortunate there was no one behind me. I was unable to retrieve my bumper due to safety concerns, locating the bumper, and size of the bumper. I pulled over at the next exit which. I immediately called my current insurance agent (I had left Progressive after the repair) and informed them of what happened. I was advised to contact Progressive and take my car in as soon as possible. I then contacted Progressive and made an appointment. I also took pictures of my car to document what had happened.
When I went in to my appointment, 3 employees came out to take pictures and look at my car. I told them what had happened. They stated several times that I must have hit something and the situation was not their fault. I had no other damage to my car whatsoever. This is also documented in the pictures. I told them that I did not hit anything and there would be visible damage if I had. I offered to have them look underneath my car to show that nothing had been hit but they declined to look further.
I was contacted the next day by Progressive and was informed again that they believed I had hit something and Progressive would not be able to help me in any way. They also mentioned I had had the car for 4 months since the repair, I reminded him that the work from the body shop they chose was a lifetime warranty. As a customer I felt that I was being called a liar in a sense and was extremely dissatisfied with the customer service I received. I filed a formal complaint with the Utah Insurance Commission. Progressive needs to show their customers that they stand by their work. My next step is to take legal action. This company is horrible.

I signed up for Progressive car insurance on-line. After clicking ok to release the funds, I then realized it was a 6 month plan, and very expensive. So I called and told them that I wanted to cancel the insurance. I called within 10 minutes of signing up. They were going to issue me a credit. I called today because it has been 8 days. The person I spoke to on the phone said that they processed the credit on 11-1. It must be the bank's fault as to why it hasn't shown up in my account yet. So I called the bank and had to file a dispute for the charge. I think it is very strange that they submitted a credit and I never received the money. I think it was their mistake. I think I'll call tomorrow and ask for a supervisor. The guy I spoke to had an attitude. He told me this happens all the time with the banks. I've never had this problem before. Stay clear of Progressive. They claim to save you money, but they were $200 more than my current insurance.

Won't pay for my truck damages and won't release salvage rights to my truck. MY only choice is to take them to small claims court. For months all I got from them was excuses and "We're sorry". This has cost me a lot of money and heartache and was surprised at all the bad reviews they have received on the Internet. I thought they were a company with a good reputation.

We have been with Progressive for 8 years. Years ago I hit a deer with my vehicle & they put the cheapest parts on it they could. A few weeks ago I was the victim of a hit & run at my work (my car was parked & someone hit it). I drive a 2015 vehicle with less than 18,000 miles & they wanted to put a 2013 door on it & have the the collision company use the cheapest paint possible. After this incident I have shopped around & found a comparable policy for a little more than $10 a month which I will be changing to. The extra money is worth it for my ease of mind... just wonder how many other vehicles are patched together so cheap?

My policy cancelled. I received a letter stating I could reinstate my policy. I paid the amount to reinstate. I was then billed for another payment due. I paid that amount and added a new car to my policy. I then received another bill of an astronomical amount. I called into customer service. I was advised I was double billed due to the fact I allowed my policy to cancel. I was told the amount I paid to reinstate was just the amount to stay in good standing with my state MVD department to keep my driving record clean.
I was also told by the supervisor Judy, Progressive invoice by balance owed- not by dates of coverage. I requested to speak with the billing department and I was told there is no billing department everything is operated by customer service. I have now as we speak been on hold and on the phone with Progressive for 0121:38 min and still holding. The supervisor has not came back to the phone to check on me at all. The person that was driving left the scene after giving the insurance information. This is now a criminal case and Progressive will not give me any information to help we collect from the owner of the vehicle. I called to cancel my policy because the monthly bills were getting out of control (not within my budget) and when I called to cancel Melissa (the representative) told me she would push the date 10 days for me until I found another insurance. "How nice is this company!" (I WAS thinking on coming back after 6 months). She conveniently did NOT explain that I had to PAY OUT OF POCKET for the days that she pushed out my bill which was due 10/31 (the day I called) and I called again and spoke with Lora to cancel 11/01 (the very next day) and she stated I have a balance of $62.58 just for that single day! Like seriously?! Imagine if I would of waited the 10 days?!
This company is one of the worst companies because they try to rip you off for every little thing. Like for example I was transferred to speak with Shante (not helpful at all, not sure why I was transferred to her because I asked to speak with a manager). She said that I would have to pay that amount for that ONE (1) day they were covering me for. I told her to remove me from receiving future emails and she replied with that it would increase the bill by $0.14¢!!! (EVERY LITTLE THING.) It's ridiculous, they obviously don't care about customer satisfaction but to see how to get the most money. TERRIBLE COMPANY! I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

My parked and unoccupied vehicle was hit by a driver with Progressive Auto Insurance. They were nice enough to come find me and exchange information and I filed a claim with their insurance, Progressive. It was all downhill from there. For starters, I took my truck to the local body shop (where it would be repaired) for an estimate. They estimated $3,200 – yet the Progressive adjuster who came to look at my vehicle tried to settle by offering me a check for less than half that. I talked to the body shop who assured me if they did get the truck in the shop they could get the additional money out of them for the repairs, so I sent the truck in for repair and they were indeed able to negotiate with Progressive and get them to fund the actual costs needed for repair. This process was a huge headache in itself, but it gets much worse.
I was told by the adjuster they would get me a rental car to use while my vehicle was being repaired. I told them I would be on vacation out of state for the first part of the repair so I would wait and see if I needed one once I got back in town, as the body shop estimated my truck would be done around the same time I was scheduled to return. Long story short, the Progressive adjuster added an extra week to the repair time by trying to lowball the body shop and took several days to come out and approve the addition funding of repairs. I am now back in town and called the claims agent for my claim (who is very nice and does her best to help) and told them I need a rental car. They said "No problem. We will get you one at Enterprise, which is an hour away." I called Enterprise, who refused to pick me up or deliver the car (which is understandable, it's not their problem).
I called back to the claims agent and explained everything and told them unless they want me to walk 70 miles I have no way of getting a rental car. They said even though there isn't a Enterprise dealer in my town, if I could find a local rental car dealer then they could just reimburse me. So, here it is, 3 days of being without a vehicle and the local Ford dealership finally had their (only) rental returned. I called the Progressive agent back and informed her I could now rent one from the local Ford Dealership for $62/day. My claims agent tried to get it approved and Progressive refused to pay anything over $30/day – leaving me stranded yet again with no vehicle for the foreseeable future. Never in my life have a dealt with such a cheap, terribly ran company.

Rear ended by a vehicle, after getting out of the hospital with the information the trooper gave me, I called to file a claim. Spoke with Marc **, the adjuster. What complete trash. After reviewing with him that I had just bought the vehicle the day before and let him know the name of their client, the incident report and that they were under the influence and nearly killed me, my simple request was for a rental vehicle until the time they could fix or replace mine. Denying responsibility for his company after attaching the insurance info from their client to the claim based upon the fact that they didn't know all the facts!?
Seriously, the police report is thoroughly written by a sworn officer of the law, your company's client was at fault, he was covered, but yet you choose to tell me after I told you my situation that I just spent my entire savings on a down payment for that vehicle that you cannot provide me with a rental until you figure out if your agency is liable!! The worst part is my mother just had the exact same thing handled and they were begging her not to sue! Gave her an immediate rental! I let them know on a recorded line that I only wanted to be able to get back to work to provide for my family and for them to handle the repairs or the cost for my vehicle. That's it. Not my lost wages, medical bills etc.
So after telling you that Marc and telling you all I wanted was to be able to support my four kids and fiancee and for you to continue to drag your feet knowing that everyday that passes causes my family to suffer, to possibly lose my only income, and for my children's own sense of security to be at risk! Sir, you are the worst kind of miscreant any working citizen should ever have to face. You better hope you don't lose your job after your company finds out that by simply providing a rental you could avoided the lawsuit and many many more thousands of dollars this is about to cost you! Hope you can find peace at night when you think about all of the working men and women just like yourself that you help to financially ruin when the law states your owner, your insurance, your fault, your coverage!

I'd been a Progressive customer for 5+ years, always paid on-time via automatic payments, and had a single claim on file for a stolen bike from the garage attached to my condo building. After purchasing an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I called Progressive to get it insured with my Homeowners insurance. The customer service rep walked me through all sorts of insurance upgrades in addition to getting the ring insured with them. The call lasted at least 45 minutes when it should've been straightforward and simple. After being told, everything was good to go (new homeowners and jewelry insurance included). They contacted me several days later via email saying the jewelry was declined due to the stolen bike claim... which they never covered in the first place!
Why be a Progressive customer (auto and homeowners) with a clean, on-time record if you can't get insured for the things that matter let alone reimbursed when things go wrong? That's the whole point. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Progressive given my loyalty to them for 5 years and am left with a feeling that they care about their bottom line vs their customers. As a result, I switched to Nationwide today and the process was clean and simple. Everything is covered and the cost is virtually the same.

That there folks is the perfect example of how auto insurance agencies take advantage of state law required coverage. Total rip-off. I am switching back to Geico. I wish there were an option for a zero star rating. I was a victim of a recent car wreck by a Progressive insurance holder. Progressive gave me very poor services. They didn't return my phone calls nor did they reply to my emails. The adjuster told me that she would call me the next day, but I never received a call for a week. I told them I needed a rent-a-car, but they never gave me one. They made me wait so long and when they finally called me, they suggested to me to use my own insurance due to their long investigation process.
So I did call my own insurance company (State Farm) and everything at that point went very smooth and professional. When Progressive called me a week later to tell me that they would cover my car, and the adjuster told me that they would send me a check for my deductible. I told her to contact State Farm because I did not want to use my own insurance for this. She told me that if the accident was not my fault my insurance would not go up. Anyway I told her to contact State Farm again, but they never did.
Another week past, of course Progressive never returned my calls nor replied to my emails. So I called State Farm again. They decided to go ahead and pay me for my totaled vehicle and later they collected the money from Progressive, and now I am waiting for my deductible to be refunded. I don't recommend Progressive at all! Progressive gave me so much stress over this accident for a month. Did they use all their money for all those TV commercials, not for hiring enough people in their claims department? No no no, I don't even want to give them one star!

Scam alert, do not go to "Progressive Insurance". They will take your money and then find excuses to cancel your policy. I have spent hours on the phone in multiple occasions solving the different situation, and when I thought things were finally straight, the underwriting team sent another cancellation notice for as simple as of having my wrong address, which is not my fault that the lady that sold me the policy was not capable to simply put in the right info. First, they wanted to cancel my policy because apparently I did not submit some declaration documents on time, but guess what? I never got anything on the mail because they had the wrong address, which I ask the representative to fix for me as well. I spent an hour and a half on the phone on my lunch break. Not fun.
Then, in a different occasion, they tried to cancel my policy again because the automatic payment did not go through. Another hour to fix the situation. Today, Oct. 10, 2016 I called once again and the underwriting lady on the phone pretty much made me feel like a criminal as if because they had my wrong address, it made me look suspicious and as a risk for them to insure my car. She made me feel unwelcome and not trustworthy, which is not how a company providing a service should make you feel. I had high standards for this company because I used it in the past and I thought it was a great efficient insurer, but they fell short this time. I guess regulations and protocols change within years, and for sure will cause this company to take a ride on a downfall.

Was involved in a car wreck in November 2015 (not at fault). The other driver had Progressive Insurance also so the company was going to have to pay. My car was totaled and I believed we had all of the paperwork completed the next week. I went to an office, signed my paperwork, received my portion of the payment, and was told they would overnight the payoff to my lien holder. This was on a Wednesday. The following Monday my lien holder still had not received the funds.
Attempted to contact the adjuster. She did not answer her call or return my messages. Finally, two days later, contacted her supervisor. He investigated it and could not tell me why it did not go out. He said it would go out electronically that night. The next week it was still not paid off. Contacted same supervisor. He investigated, returned and told me it had been mailed out. It took approximately one month for Progressive to pay off my claim as they said they would.
I assumed it was a poor adjuster and I was just unlucky. No. Fast forward to September 2016. Our house was broken into and we contact Progressive because they also have our home insurance policy. The adjuster calls and we provide an itemized list of items which were stolen. Adjuster states (after we called her three times, never returned a call) she has the list and is giving it to whichever department needs it to evaluate claim and compensation (depreciation). It will take about 1.5 weeks.
Two weeks later we call and leave a message. Call the next day, leave a message. Call the next day, end up speaking to another adjuster, only to find out they need one more piece of paperwork from us. She states she checked the original adjuster's notes and she had attempted to contact us. This was false. There was no e-mail, voice mail, nothing. So, based on what the other adjuster states, we send the other piece of paperwork.
We call on Monday (10/3) and receive the standard message (the adjuster is on the phone or away from her desk) so we press I believe the number 2 to transfer to a live person. We explain to her who we are trying to contact and she transfers my call to the original adjuster who is magically now at her desk (it is amazing the only time we talk to her is when we are transferred from another person, but a coincidence I am sure). She states she has an offer for me but will call back in a few minutes. I hear nothing on Monday, call and leave a message on Tuesday, hear nothing on Tuesday, call and leave a message on Wednesday.
Finally call back on Wednesday and am transferred to her only to be told, "Well, the offer should be coming in this afternoon." Call back in the afternoon. She does not answer. I speak with another adjuster who checks the notes on the account and tells us the original adjuster noted she spoke and e-mailed me the offer earlier in the afternoon. Totally false claim. I thought the first adjuster was bad. Apparently this is a company-wide issue and they have no desire to resolve their customer service issues. I would not recommend them for any service whatsoever.

In late August 2016, a tree branch speared and shattered the back window of my 2016 Audi Q5. I used Progressive's suggested repair shop - Safelite Auto Glass and the repair was not done to my satisfaction as I could hear glass rattling around within the back hatch of the car. I was unable to reach inside this back door myself with a vacuum and I expected the clean up to be done during the repair - apparently Safelite does not have this capability. In addition to being an irritant this is also a safety hazard, so I went to the Audi dealership for them to blow out the remaining glass shards using compressed air.
Progressive did not reimburse me for the full amount (after deductible) stating that they had an estimate from a different shop for a lesser amount. Then why didn't they send me to this shop to begin with? I don't have time to travel around at Progressive's whim to repair centers I neither know nor trust to complete a job that should have been done right the first time. To add insult to injury, the callous Progressive representative I spoke with over the phone said that Progressive does not normally pay for clean up and I should be happy with what I got. This was only a simple glass claim what would be the attitude with a more serious claim? September 22, 2016 I was driving to northern Florida. I was on the highway doing the speed limit, not distracted, nor having any issues. Out of my passenger side a truck did not yield to the oncoming traffic which was me as I was driving through the green light. This individual hit my car as I was going 45mph. He came out of nowhere. When I realized what was in progress I slammed on my brakes to try to avoid the "in progress" accident. It was impossible to avoid. This individual that was cited at the scene for not yielding to the right of way and causing this accident has bare bones insurance through Progressive. He was also driving with a suspended license. He admitted fault to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was at fault. My car was taken via tow as it was not able to be driven.
The next day I called Progressive with my crash report only to get the runaround because they claimed they could not pull up the accident report. They explained they needed to get a statement from their client even though he was incarcerated at the scene of the accident for a suspended license of 10 years and a warrant for his arrest. The run around continued with no help from this Insurance Company. I had no way to get home, no car and was starting to not feel so great after being hit traveling at 45mph.
When I was able to get back home which was a total nightmare in of itself, I was informed my car was totaled and the amount owed to me would be 4288.00. Yesterday I called Progressive and was notified that because they felt I did NOTHING to stop this accident I would be held liable for 50% of the damages due to my car, cutting my check in half. I was stunned! I argued my point but the adjuster was not budging. I had to call the Florida Commission For Insurance Regulations and file a complaint which in turn gives Progressive 20 business days to reevaluate the offer so they will give me the full 4288.00 for my totaled vehicle because of their liable client. I also called the supervisor for this claim that the adjuster is saying I am 50% liable for so they will look into this.
I am physically in pain and emotionally wrecked. There is no way I could have prevented this and I am not liable. The other individual was cited and at fault. Progressive liked using a play on words when I gave an honest statement saying I did not see him as I had the right of way. He was nowhere and then suddenly he totaled my vehicle.
They want the title to my vehicle so they can pay out half of this claim. If they should find full liability later they shall reimburse the balance. I will not provide title as they are in the wrong. Not only was this not my doing, I was treated with such disrespect and ignorance that it only added to the stress. I am left with unknown injuries and a totaled car. They are liable. End of story. Beware. This is a very horrible, unethical Insurance carrier. I would never do business with them on my own nor should you as a consumer. Horrible!

I file the claim and it is taking them a month and a half just to tell me if they are going to fix my car. I had one guy tell me he was my main claim rep. I told him everything, sent him everything he asked for. He kept asking me about the police report. I told him I didn't know what precinct arrived on scene because they just rushed my friend to the hospital. He kept saying he needed to talk to anyone else involved in the accident just in case they try to sue me. He was really focused on that. He said that at least 4 times or five times in one convo. I'm like why does he keep saying that and then he finally found what precinct was there and told me they told him it would take a couple of days to be finished.
He called me the next day seeing if I picked it up and I said, "You told me they said two days," and he said, "Ok." And then all of a sudden somebody else is contacting me asking me for all types of things cause they want to investigate where I'm garaging my car. She sends me a list of things to send so I send her what I have. I send my pay stubs, I send my taxes and I send the receipt of where I serviced my car and she goes, "Oh that good but I need your bank statements also." She sends an investigator to the Bronx address which I felt was ridiculous and farfetched. I emailed her to ask her why she needs my bank statements and she explains because if I garage my car in Katonah I would use my card at places surrounding where I am staying and I told to google my address. There is nothing surrounding that area and I work in Mamaroneck.
I end up sending my bank statements. And it took her a week to email me or even confirm that she has received them. And every time I email her it takes her 2 or 3 days to email me back and I email cause I can't constantly be on my phone at work. She emails me saying that it looks like I garage my car in the Bronx and she came to this conclusion without looking at my bank statements. She says she will look at them and give me an answer. Wonder of wonders it is double that and they are insisting the higher rate INCLUDES the discount. I would never have signed on for this. Sadly I can't get a direct answer about the initial quote, just here's the rate and pay up.
The unfortunate thing about online insurance such as this is that we had to pay the higher rate to sign up then would have been credited the difference once the docs were submitted. Well if a company doesn't stand by their word and money is not credited you have just been milked for a double premium. By the time you wait for all the processing and "credits" a half of the monthly premium has been used. And that half month premium should have covered a full month. I called on the 12th to double check and was told there was a 12-day hold on the refund. I told her it should have been sent in the 9th, she looked further into it and said that it had, indeed, been sent on the 9th. I called on the 14th because I hadn't received it and was told it must have gotten lost in the mail. They would have to cancel the check and make sure nobody else tried to cash it before they reissue it to me.
Then I had to resort to email and was told that they didn't know why I had been told it was sent out on the 9th because there was a 12-day hold on payments by check. I explained the funds had been verified and the refund was supposed to be sent out right away. I called back a week later to talk with a supervisor. After a 46 minute fight I was transfer to one. I was told the amount due was due to the fact that they bill a month behind! REALLY then why did I owe a month upfront when we started for coverage to be in effect???
There is no month behind. We have ALWAYS paid upfront then month to month. We changed policy two months prior for home insurance same company and guess what!!! WE GOT A REFUND!!! Why we paid upfront! Now I am being told they are crediting me the rate increase so all I owe is 134.00! The quoted rate increase at 27.50 a month times two months. So 176.00 minus 55.00 is not 134.00!!! Well they took car and put in body shop said there was 14k worth of damage. 2 weeks later they call up and say they are totaling it. Will pay us 26k. We fight to no avail. This company are thieves. I reported the accident to both my insurance and Progressive. Michigan is a no fault state. The agent from Progressive told me that his company would pay me $1000 for the damage, which is the maximum in Michigan. After a month Progressive refused to pay because the other driver changed his report and denied responsibility.

My car ended up totaled and Progressive was suppose to give the check amount for what it was worth to my auto loan company so that they can hold the title and the rest of it over to me. Once they considered it to be a total loss they gave me three days to return my rental. So the money I received from them I ended up having to pay out of pocket to extend the rental (that money is now all gone due to rental expenses and I am once again without transportation). It has been very difficult to put a down payment or purchase another car because the loan is still showing up on my credit as open and over due.
It has been three weeks now since they said that the check was mailed over to my bank. My bank has still not received anything from them. I am now messed up with my bank as far as being able to get another auto loan, my credit is now messed up, and I am without a car so I am not able to go to and from work and they are not able to help me in any type of way even though it's mainly their fault. Their answer to this all is to continue to wait a couple more days for the bank to receive it.

I was rear ended by a 16 yr old who didn't have a license & she left the scene. This happened in Sept 2013. There was damage to my car & I did receive permanent neck & back injuries. I had to resign from my job & the accident caused me a lot of stress & anxiety also. I have had auto insurance continuously for over 40 yrs. I have always been told by a lot of people that you should have auto insurance with a reputable company that has been in business long enough that they have the money to pay their claims. I had $25,000 bodily injury on my policy and Progressive offered me $1400 to start. I retained a attorney & it went downhill from there. The person handling my claim decided it wasn't worth his time to pursue my claim so he just dropped it.
One of the attorney partners took it over even though he did not specialize in personal injury cases. I just settled this July 2016 after almost 3 years. I was awarded $14,000 & received $9,333. I am still on disability from a previous illness & I needed the money very badly. Progressive was delaying my claim with everything they could come up with. There wasn't that much damage to my car, I didn't have the injuries I claimed (even though I had x-rays & documents on to back it up), my injuries were caused my age, etc. I now only have the minimum auto insurance available because it doesn't matter how much coverage you have you won't receive what you should if you sign with Progressive. All their money goes to Flo & their shareholders!

I noticed several people posted negative reviews. I had an accident I reported in August 2016. A friend was driving my car and someone turned left from a 4 ways stop into my car. My friend was heading through the intersection after he had already stopped. The other person denied any fault and he and his 3 friends tried to refuse to give required accident information. I attempted to file with the other insurance company and they said their person was not at fault. Therefore I had to file with Progressive and pay my $500 deductible. Progressive paid for the $2995.00 repair and I had rental car coverage and said my friend was not at fault.
The case goes to arbitration (in 8-9 months). Hopefully, I'll get some of the $500 back. I've had Progressive off and on for several years. They were following state law, and they were in communication with me. The only thing I noticed is that they now have adjustors come to the body shop and do an assessment (in my case the car was driveable). My advice: Always know your policy coverage - go through the declaration page every time you renew it.

I had been with Progressive for 4 yrs. and when I initially started with their service they recommended "snap shot" to possibly reduce my insurance by 30%. After 6 months of using the Snap shot, I was told by Progressive I qualified for the full discount as I had met all standards for snap shot. When I got billed the next month I was informed my insurance was going up because accidents had been reported in "my zip code." Obviously the 30% discount went out the window. Then I realized every 6 months when it was time for renewal my insurance was increasing by 10, 12 and now $17 dollars a month.
I have no accidents on my record and my licence is clean and clear. When I asked why my insurance went up again, they gave me the same B.S. Progressive is a thief insurance, I DON'T RECOMMEND them at all. I switched to MetLife who carries my Life Insurance policy, got a better quote and got renters insurance added for a less premium. So Monday I made claim early that morning at 9 am. I had driver's name address tag but no Insurance info. 8 hours later I called back with info and finally almost 2 days later the claims rep called me back. Here is what he said: We both filled claims but because it's same company we both have it has to have several investigations and will take a while longer. In the meantime they won't supply a rental or anything.
Now even though the other person made the claim they want to talk to her again and isn't answering. It's complete crap. Stall tactics. They want me to pay deductible and go through my policy. That's their answer to everything. If you don't wanna wait pay 500 and forger rental because it goes through my insurance which will raise my rates I'm sure even though someone hit my parked car. I'm new to accidents but what I've gathered from friend's family and the Internet this should not take this long. Again I believe they are delaying it to get me to pay deductible. I've never heard just because someone has same company it takes longer. Their claims reps are rude and lazy. Takes several days to get a callback.
Now almost end of day 3 we have yet to even inspect the damage. No one came out and hasn't even asked me for photos which I'm sure I'll wait another week or month to get the estimate done if they ever step up and pay. Anyone dealing with Progressive should just retain a lawyer. I never wanted to sue. Just get it fixed and have rental in meantime. Pretty basic. No injury or medical bills or anything complicated. That's what bothers me simple open shut case and yet Progressive refuses to handle the situation timely or at all. I will be switching companies as soon as I legally can. If I ever get hit by someone with Progressive I will learn from this mistake and retain lawyer immediately. Progressive is worst insurance I ever had. It's not like 2 people from same policy hit. October 20 I ended up in a minor accident due to my car underneath was heating up and I pushed on the brakes due to being in traffic and my brake pad was hard to push down so I hit a expedition. I was far and still slid and hit them. The company told my grandfather that my car didn't have anything wrong with the brake and I was at fault. Bull crap man. They told my grandfather that I had to get a rental till they found out what they had to do they about the car. They called my grandfather to come sign paperwork so he went to meet the lady he spoke to and they told him that I'd get 1200 back. I heard with my ears soon as he signed the paper he sat and waited and they were like, "Is there something wrong?" He was like, "Where the check at? She need to put down money for another car."
They look at us saying that, "We didn't say that to you." So we were pissed. He demanded to speak to someone else and they refused. It is now august I still have no car. I lost my home health aid job due to me having no car. I have been going through so much now. Today I get a call from the hospital that I went to during the day of the accident saying that they never got a call from the company said I owe them 2900. So my granddad called the company and they said they paid 10000. lol. Really that's not what they said. So I called the hospital back to tell them what they said and the lady was like nooo. SMH. As of today, August 25th, 2016, Progressive is reportedly having their underwriters call new customers to go over information supplied by the licensed insurance agent. Underwriters as a personality type, are not exactly customer service focused. In fact, after having been with GEICO for many years, I can tell you that I regretted making the switch to Progressive. I felt disrespected as the underwriter asked the same questions, zip code, highest level of education completed (they appear to discriminate), address... on and on. When I had a disagreement about my son who lives out-of-country, they said "No - he must be put on your policy." WHAT? Dealing with a Progressive underwriter regarding customer service is akin to having Donald Trump provide sensitivity training to Mexicans, Latinos and women. It's a total mismatch and Progressive should be ashamed that they lacked the basic knowledge that an underwriter should never go near a customer.
The great news is that GEICO gets it! They are 150% customer focused, treat you with dignity and respect and they are the same from policy application to claims handling. I would NEVER RECOMMEND PROGRESSIVE TO ANYONE. Worst customer experience ever - unless of course you like root canal surgery - then Progressive is for you. The other great news? I have been a loyal progressive customer for over five years. I would not recommend this company if you ever have to file a claim. In April of 2016 my vehicle was hit head on by another driver. Well vehicle was parked at my home! The other driver also had progressive auto insurance. They told me they would get this taken care of and it would be a fair process! Wow they lied. After having to find my own repair shop I took it to them and then Progressive went out to do a secondary inspection and told me that the vehicle was totaled. After doing research and you can Kelley blue book my vehicle was worth between 10,000 and $20,000 after their comparison-shopping they found used vehicles for between 10 and 13,000 and then tried to depreciate off of those used vehicles they had more miles than mine.
After the total was given to me they were only going to give me $6000 and then they left me with a $1900 storage bill from the auto shop! So please use caution if you purchase insurance through them. It does no good to pay them $2000-$4000 a year and them not replace your vehicle or repair it or even give you the money to replace your vehicle even if you were not involved in the accident at all. The other driver was driving down the wrong side of the road at 11:30 at night doing 25 miles over the speed limit when he hit my parked vehicle and I am stuck not having a vehicle and all I get is this is what you get! Boy I was wrong to think that a company actually cares about its customers. I found myself calling the 1800 number, a local business center and leaving voicemails because no one was available. They will never call you back, don't leave a voicemail.
3 days later they're talking about making proper accommodations by providing me a paid rental. What they don't tell you is what kind of rental. I drive a 37,000 dollar car. What the heck is a chevy spark? After a search in Google it was an insult. Call them back had a argument about the rental so they upgraded me into a toyota Yaris. Once again what the hell is that. 1 day later went to enterprise for then rental and fought more in the store. Eventually ended up with a Jeep. No power! But space great.
2 weeks later a progressive adjustor calls me to inform me they're not replacing everything damaged. Just repairing. Well. My car is going to have an accident report against the vin. So I started a diminished value claim. I was informed by progressive they process those too. Thats fine, but I would like to get it done by a outside souce(s). I was referred to Progressive when I first bought my car. My banker called and handed me the phone while he was writing my check. The agent was dull, unhelpful, and monotonous. While applying, we got to the mailing address section where he was adamant about being unable to enter my PO Box because he "just can't". I am advised to just put down my condo address so I can obtain the insurance that day to buy my car. That was on a Friday. Over the weekend of the 25th and 26th of June, I was unable to get a hold of anyone to change my address. The Monday after, I change my address to the correct mailing address.
Fast forward to August 8th. I received a letter from Progressive, it was dated August 1st. It was a cancellation notice and I was taken aback since I just made my payment a couple weeks ago. Cancellation states reasons of an early term claim (family member locked my keys in my car while getting their items from it) and RETURNED US MAIL. I had received advertisements and my insurance cards from Progressive and the only emails I got were payment schedules and reminders. So I called the underwriting team and they just kept repeating that there's nothing they could do even if it was a misunderstanding. I logged in online and went to see my documents and found the documents they claimed were returned mail and when I opened them, they had my condo (not mailing) address listed on there and it was sent on June 25th (WHEN I WAS TRYING TO CORRECT MY ADDRESS)!
I didn't get an email or even a phone call!! If it was so important that those pieces of mail got to me, enough for you to cancel my policy, why didn't I get a phone call or email?? A warning?? Also, it will be cancelled on August 11th so I had THREE days to scrounge up money after paying all my bills. I was told the prorated refund could take up to 12 days until I received it, which they don't even know if it included business days or not!
So, one, early term claim: why? I don't know, aren't insurance supposed to HELP you when you needed it? And two, RETURNED US MAIL? Basically you're telling me, if we read this all over again, that my policy is being cancelled and I am financially blind-sided is because your agent is so incompetent that he can't operate a software to input my PO Box for mailing? Not even after I, MYSELF, had to fix it? And even though he knew that my condo address he wanted to put down so bad couldn't receive mail, he didn't THINK to make a note to not mail anything to the wrong address until I fixed it like HE advised??? This sounds like a setup, if you didn't want my business, just say so.
And after all that, I have THREE days to find a new policy that fit my budget. But don't worry about me, Progressive! Even though I've spent money on rent, utilities, car payments, I was able to find one. But it with the money I was putting towards saving and to live off of until next paycheck, which your prorated refund won't even help the slightest bit because it's too slow!!! So, here I am, living off $20 for the next -- oh specifically -- TWELVE (business or not, we don't know!!!) DAYS!
Thanks Progressive! Honorable mentions to Micah and Becky in customer service and Patricia in underwriting for genuinely trying to help me with everything they could. I said it many times, I appreciate you for going above and beyond, but I HATE your company. High Honorable mentions to customer supervisor who scoffed off Becky when she tried to help me further by point blank telling her to not get involved. Yeah, I know you said that.

I was initially told by Progressive that I did not need to talk to the other party who hit me, as they (Progressive) would take care of everything. Well that was a lie. They really meant that my own insurance with them would pay to have my car repaired and I would owe the deductible, as well, and then of course I would show an accident claim on my policy, even though the accident was not my fault. I said "NO", the party who hit me USPS needs to pay for all damage to repair my car to its pre-accident state.
Then I was told that I have to speak to USPS to arrange them to handle the claim, since it is the US Government. I complained again, stating that the claims process is not my job, but your job as an adjuster. Then I was transferred to a different adjuster, who has done the same thing, who now tells me that my claim will be closed, since I did not work with the USPS to process my own claim. I would also have to pay for the repairs myself, as well as rental car, and then Progressive would "Go after" the USPS to get my money back. I said "NO", and I am reporting them to state insurance agency. My car is not fixed, and the Progressive claims handling sucks!!!

I've been with Progressive since 2005 and after 11 yrs of loyalty I've to left them because of their stupid credit check system which increased my payment. There is nothing wrong with my credit. Just because there are couple different inquiries in past 3yrs led Progressive to hike my premium. When I spoke to customer service, no one was willing to help, they don't even want to consider the fact that I'm with them for 11 yrs. I even tried online customer service through chat thinking they are willing to help but I get same attitude from these employee. First of all hire someone who can explain in better way why there is a hike in premium and also build a system in a way that can check for not only inquires on the customer's credit report but also their driving history.
What Progressive assumes is if you have 3-4 inquiries on your credit report you are likely to file a claim. What kind of stupid algorithm is that? Have your developer recode your system to put some exception where customers with no history of careless driving record would be forgiven and not get bump in their premium. So, basically the customer service lady told me that I shouldn't have more than 3-4 inquiries on my credit report. Otherwise Progressive will increase the premium, that's 3 yrs of not buying any cars, house, CC or another services. Such a lame excuse. JUST FYI consumers, I was with them for 11 yrs. They just let me go without even trying.

Through a small fender bender (filed on Esurance) Progressive found out he is using our address and has put him down as a driver on our insurance policy (without our permission). I started with Progressive 2/16. I had a no fault accident on my record a year before they gave me a quote of around $1,750 for a 6 month term. This is after I signed up for snapshot and paid in full. I drove on this snapshot for 30 days. They refunded $220 back into my acct because it said I had an 11% drop from good driving then it say to to drive on it for the remainder of the policy to save more. Well every time I turn around I'm kicking the stupid thing when I get into my truck so I said screw it, my rate already dropped 11%. I was happy and figured it would go lower with no tickets, accidents or claims.
Well here it comes time to renew my policy and not only did they send me a payment of $79 before it was time to renew let me remind you (paid in full) my renewal rate was higher than it started, they want $1,810 for another 6 month policy paid in full - that's another $300 added for what, driving good? I emailed them asking "why did my rate go up" and they told me the quote I got the first time was a 1 time discount for new customers but how do you explain where my 11 % decrease is? I will never go with Progressive again - they're a bunch of bs crooks and a waste of money.

I'm a young driver who's had Progressive for a year since I bought my first car. I never got a ticket, involved in an accident, or filed a claim. I moved from New York to Rhode Island (i.e. from a high premium region to a lower one). Right before I moved I contacted Progressive hoping to find out how much my premium would be in Rhode Island so I could decide whether to keep my policy. The representative suspected I was lying about the move and refused to give me a quote. He said they're not going to give me a quote until I actually moved. I contacted them again today at the Rhode Island DMV. I needed Rhode Island auto insurance before I could get a Rhode Island driver's license. The Progressive agent told me the system wouldn't let her write me a Rhode Island policy.
I'm flagged in the system because Progressive believed I didn't move to Rhode Island. They thought I only registered my car in Rhode Island to get a lower premium. They are so wrong. I work full-time in Rhode Island. How am I not living in Rhode Island? I'm very, very disappointed about their decision. I will not give them my business in the future.

Three times I have tried to get them to rewrite my policy to save me money. I keep getting the runaround and they will not do this. I have been with Progressive Insurance for 8 years. I am cancelling my policy because Allstate will be saving me $122 a month! The agent at Allstate explained to me about two speeding ticket points that we're going to be coming off next month. Progressive said only one would come off (that was a lie). The Allstate representative also explained several other details that would save me money, none of which anyone at Progressive bothered to explain to me at all.
Progressive does not care about saving anyone money, they just want you to sign the dotted line and pay them per month. Please do not fall for this scam, do not go with an internet insurance company! Please stick with your local insurance company that has a real office, that you can step into you and talk to a real person. I am excited to be paying so much less per month. Police and the investigators found them at fault (obviously) and gave them tickets. I called her again on July 9th to ask her what's going on with my brand new only a year old still making payments 2012 Toyota Corolla. She told me that I better get it out of the impound because I have a financial obligation. What the heck. Had they told me the first day I called that I didn't have collision on the car I would have borrowed money to take it out by the time they let me know. They actually didn't tell me. I called them to find out what was going on. The bill was over 1500 dollars and the car is all smashed up.
But it does not end there. My husband had a stroke and was taken to the hospital from the scene of the crash. Today is July 22, 2016 and he is still in the hospital because they are giving me the runaround and no one calls you back. When I call Rebecca in the medical claims her voicemail is always full and her supervisor Ashley doesn't call back. Not only have I tried to get some kind of answer from them but the social worker from the hospital has been trying to get answers. We know they don't want to pay but why the hold up. Because of the insurance company holding up the paperwork my husband is stuck in the hospital instead of being in a rehab because he has to learn how to walk and talk again. He is not getting the proper care he needs.

I switched to Progressive about a year ago after 20 years with another insurance company. Progressive recommended a policy for me and my four vehicles and since I'm no expert on insurance, I trusted them to provide me with the coverage I was requesting. My mistake. Instead they gave me the bare minimum. Unfortunately, I didn't realize my coverage was so poor until there was an accident and I needed it. Apparently their costs are so low because they give you what the state legally requires instead of a policy that protects your family and your vehicles. By default, you get liability + two items you don't need by law but have to go in and manually reject.
On the flip side, collision and comprehensive - items usually included when you request "full coverage" - are things you have to go in and manually add. That wasn't the case at my other insurance provider. They provided a full policy and helped me decide what deductibles and what items I needed or didn't need from there. I feel like a fool for buying into Progressive's trendy marketing and leaving a trusted company that operated with integrity for one that just wants your money. Lesson learned.

While driving on the interstate, the vehicle in front of me made an abrupt lane change from the left to the middle lane. There was no signal, no warning whatsoever. Their reason for doing so was that there was a big, black, hard object in the lane. I had no choice but to hit the object as my only other alternative would have been to hit the cars to the left of me. My vehicle was damaged, cracked bumper and drip pan underneath the car is now hanging. Progressive claims adjuster Derrick ** has determined the accident to be my fault, stating that I hit a stationary object. I never said the object was stationary. It was in my lane and I only saw it because the vehicle in front of me swerved at the last second to avoid hitting it.
I'm thankful that I was not hurt. My "decision" to hit the object vs. another vehicle not only kept me from being in a real accident but also limited the damages to only my vehicle. How something like this could be determined to be my fault is beyond me. I'm so disappointed and disgusted with this company that I have been a customer of for 5 years with no claims for an at fault accident. In September of 2013 I was pregnant and involved in an hit and run. I took pictures of the person who hit me, as well as his license plate. The original due date came and went without a call. I called and left a message the day after the last due date (June 29), got a call the next day from the quality inspector who said the vehicle didn't pass the quality inspection so he sent it back, but it would be done the following Tuesday or Wednesday.
No call, no email update. I called and left a message on Wednesday, no return call. I emailed my claims representative who said he had nothing to do with the shop but he would reach out to them. Got a call back that afternoon from the shop while I was at work (I work nights) and the message I still have says "the vehicle will be completed Friday afternoon, Monday at the latest and we will set a task to call you back tomorrow afternoon (Friday) and get everyone on the same page."
No call Friday. I waited, have the benefit of the doubt, no call Monday. My husband calls Tuesday morning, no callback. I call and finally get a person by not following the prompts. She had to put me on hold ten minutes while she searched the lot for my vehicle. It was there, it was done. I ask for the manager and tell him I'm not paying my deductible for this kind of service. He says the deductible is an agreement I made with them. I said they didn't uphold their end because the commercials say if you use the progressive shop you'll have someone in contact with you every step of the way. He said he recognized the communication was poor but a few missed phone calls aren't worth $499. Then he offered to fill up the rental cars tank. Well they gave it to me at 3/8ths full and they'll get it back well over half full, so that won't work.
I got his boss's information, that would be Kevin **, he told me they aren't paying for my rental for another day so I need to return it and the deductible is non-negotiable. The rental I only have because they wouldn't return my call. So I emailed my claims rep, then decided I should probably call him. My horrific experience started June 4th, 2016 with a hit and run accident. To this day PROGRESSIVE has not honored part of the claim. They have made so many mistakes with the claim that it's really shameful. They started by stating that the dent on the lift gate of a GL450 - 2014 MB was not part of the accident because it had rust. Later that changed because the color was not the same... I guess they are color blind. Now it's the dimension that does not measure to the hit. They are a total mess. The car has been sitting in the shop all these days. I have a rented car that with the cost of the rental they would have paid for the dent and yesterday after many calls I hear from a supervisor that they are not honoring that part of the claim.
I guess a ghost from Progressive was at the scene of the accident to be able to determine this because it was a tall truck with front grilles but they disagree. I should have followed advised from friends that told me they were the worse company but since I've haven't had a claim for over 20 years I figured it wouldn't hurt, well now I understand. Progressive should be spending less money on their FALSE commercials and more on customer service... Better and more knowledge adjustors so that they can honor claims. I will take this to this end... She told me to go back to my policy writer and talk to. I explained to her, "the policy was not set up in person, it was on the phone - not in Hollywood Florida."
I live in Panama City Florida 600 plus miles away. I told her she was nuts, why would I write a policy in Hollywood Florida I don't even live there. Had no idea the policy was written. What is Progressive's problem? They have changed my policy 4X without my approval. Net premiums kept going up. (1) For not having his insurance card and (2) not yielding the right way, which he turned right in front of me without noticing that I was going southbound and not know looking and waiting his turn.
After the accident the Progressive driver get out of the car and blames me for the accident, which it was not my fault at all. I knew I would get billed for the day or so she was on our policy, but a month later we were still getting billed for her being on our policy. I contacted customer service and they first said I never removed the car or my daughter, then they said I removed the car but not my daughter. They said there was nothing I could do about it. I asked them, "Why would I cancel the car and not my daughter?" I told the customer service rep that I did cancel them both, but still they offered no help or solution, just pay or "they will send me to collections."
I immediately canceled my Progressive policy and went with GEICO. I then filed a complaint at ComplaintFile@progressive.com. I've had to send them paperwork proving when my daughter got her policy through a long chain of back and forth emails and time dealing with this what should have been a simple fix. I am still getting billed by Progressive along with their threats of sending me to collections and reminding me that driving without insurance is a crime. I'm still not positive this issue will get resolved, but they're not getting another dime out of me. They lost a loyal customer who paid his bill every month over some stupid glitch or greed or both. They gained someone now who will steer as many people away from this company as possible. Even more so after reading the other complaints on here. It really is true what another person said on here - Progressive will step over a dollar to get a dime. I'll never even think about going with this company again.

I purchased my first car in October of 2015, purchased an insurance policy online with Progressive (full coverage) or so I thought. Never spoke with a representative, a rep never contacted me. While I was at work in March 2016, someone backed into my car (hit and run), they said they couldn't do anything about it because I didn't have the person's license plate - but I did have video from the cameras at work & they said that I didn't have full coverage to cover the damages. So after going back and forth I finally just told them to add full coverage back to my claim. Now remind you my car is not paid for, so any lien holder requires full coverage - I never got a notice from the bank saying that I no longer had full coverage, and Progressive never notified them either. My rates never increased/decreased during the time where I "didn't have full coverage" either.
Ok, so in May, a girl pulls out in front of me, (my word against hers, and I get the ticket). I'm like "ok, I have full coverage now, it shouldn't be a problem." THEY SAY THE SAME THING AGAIN! That they dropped my full coverage because I never sent them the consent to rate forms back, FORMS THAT I NEVER RECEIVED! They recited my address back to me as Cornwallis Drive, I said no. I do not live on Cornwallis Drive and as far as I'm concerned I don't even know if that exists. I stay on Cornwallis Rd, which comes up when I log on to my account. Sooo, now I'm stuck with having to pay for the damages to my car. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. I'm currently switching insurance companies, PROGRESSIVE IS TERRIBLE.

When I get there a piece of plastic was barely attached and at first they said collision center said it had nothing to do with wreck, but it did.
Thankfully they reviewed photos and came to the conclusion it did so they sent my suv back to get fixed. I went back the next day to pick up and my rear view mirror was shattered. The lady snapped real fast and said there is photos that show I brought it in that way. I said "NO WAY!!" You see I just bought this vehicle 2 weeks prior to getting wrecked into, so I was furious this happened and she tried to blame me for their carelessness!! I said "show me the photos". She went back inside and talked with her boss and they came to the conclusion there was no proof I brought it in that way, so they were gonna honor it and have it fixed.
The lady then said "but I remember you did", so she was practically calling me a liar, which then made me think maybe she accidentally broke it. They said they would order part and call me. It's been over a week and have heard nothing. I am beyond upset that I was the victim in this situation and was treated horrible. My suv wasn't fixed correctly, still hasn't been finished and the inside of my suv was dirty with shoe prints from workers! I suggest no one go here unless you want to be treated unfairly!!! The paperwork was sent in to remove the drivers and get my premium to go back to normal where it was previously. They never processed the paperwork. The huge premium, for one month, was $1500.00 more than it was supposed to be. The draft overdrew my account. It caused 5 payments to be returned to the creditors. I had 7 fees at my bank. 7 x $35 each $245. The 5 returned items with the creditors 5 x $35 each $175. They would only credit the $245. They said they needed proof of the other fees. I gathered all of the receipts and sent them in.
They now want a business letterhead with each of the creditors to show the fees so they can verify them. Even though the documents that were sent in with the date of the returned item, the amount of the payment that was returned that matches the bank print off with the same amounts. They keep moving the goal posts to keep from paying a lousy $175 back to me that I have out of my pocket. Not to mention all of the time I have had to spend fixing their negligence. That really made me angry because I pay comprehensive coverage for 2 drivers, have been with Progressive for almost 2 years without any incident and the one time I need the insurance to do what I'm paying them for, they give me a runaround. Progressive Insurance is horrible. They do anything to get out of paying claims. My daughter was in a car accident with someone who has Progressive. It was the their fault. She was going straight and the other person pulled out in front of her and they are the one who got the ticket. Just when you think there is no way they can dispute who is at fault, they try to say my daughter told them she was going 5 miles over the speed limit. Now, they say we are 20% responsible and they are only going to pay 80%. They are a joke! They try to force people to accept their offer when they know you do not have collision on your policy. I might not get them to pay for 100% of the damages. But, I am going to write a complaint the Department of Insurance and let them know of their tactics and bad faith.

Progressive's insured driver hit me in an uninspected vehicle with an inoperational turn signal. While he was pulled over the shoulder on the right, he turned back into the lane without looking or using his broken blinker and hit my jeep on its side, rolled it over, and totaled it. Progressive says it's my fault, so I ended up with a totaled jeep I put a lot of work in, and I had to buy a whole new vehicle. They would not give me a cent, saying it was all my fault. To rub salt in the wound, SIX MONTHS LATER they decide to file a claim against me saying I should pay for the damage to his car, even though it is fine and I still see it driving around.
They completely denied my claim against him and I have no hope of ever getting any money back for the jeep he hit, but they are making matters worse for me by blaming it on me and making my insurance rates go up. Remember Progressive... His car was uninspected and shouldn't have been on the road to begin with. And HE is the one who hit ME.

Maritza the Progressive representative told me "Your car nor my brother in law are covered". I asked why she said he was at fault. Not much communication between us. Nobody came to take pictures of the car. So I got myself a lawyer. 6 months later a received an email from Maritza they want to see the car. "When can we schedule an appointment." So email talk to my lawyer first. Then I received a called from Kerry from Progressive. She was super rude asking me "So when can we go take pictures of the car". After reading the statute myself and not finding anything, they instructed me to email the request instead and that it could not be done over the phone. The email is internal and even though I requested a copy, I did not get it. Luckily I anticipated that and screen-shot it for my records. 4 more days passed and I tried to solve it over the chat and was requested to show proof of insurance again. When I mentioned that I had been over that with previous agents and again asked for the paragraph where it says that, the conversation was manipulated and became a progressive policy and not the statue anymore. I know cancelling anything on earth is a nightmare but I feel like they are abusing it and because they are so big, there is nothing we can do to stop.

And worst of all they claimed my car was total loss so now I have to look for a new car.
Since I had to find a new car I thought I would at least get a week on the rental car for the search but big disappointment, they said I had to return my rental or pay it out of my own pocket. I've been with Progressive for about seven years, and am even considered a "diamond member" (which means nothing, when it comes down to customer service). I pay my bill every month and have never filed a claim. I recently added glass coverage to my policy, as I've already replaced one (out of pocket) and had recently noticed a tiny crack in the windshield (about a month ago); I figured at some point it would need to be replaced. Soon after, as my car was parked in a lot that crack spread to about two feet long (I'm assuming someone put pressure on it or something). I called to check my coverage and, after over a week (unacceptable) of playing phone tag with Progressive and getting no solid answer, I was told that they would not cover it. So, I am paying an extra $9 a month for glass coverage and because the original tiny crack happened prior to glass coverage, the new two foot long crack will not be covered.
When I repeatedly pleaded my case, and expressed my disappointment in how this was handled, I was met with absolutely no care or gratitude for being a long-standing customer. When I informed them that I would be looking for a new insurance provider, I was told "that's your right." Well no **. I've been paying you every month, year after year, and costing you nothing, and you won't even cover a $400 windshield... on a technicality? I'm just a policy number to them; my history as a long-time, paying customer means nothing. I will find an alternative insurer to give my $ to each month. I suggest you do the same.

They tried to tell me it only had one. The peril with metallic clear coat was not in my car. When all said and done they cut me a check for 378.00$ and told me the bumper was cosmetic and they gave me an extra 5$ for a used taillight. I already had an estimate for 1,300$ and change. I was involved a car accident and the Progressive was the insurer of the other driver who was at fault. My car was rear ended on the rear left bumper. After several days of investigation, the Progressive adjuster offered to repair my car. I was scheduled to drop off the car at one of Progressive Claim Center in Lewisville, TX. After waiting for several days, I got a phone call from one representative to go through the items they will repair for me. They offered to replace the bumper for me and the total cost would be $1,7** and they will take care of everything for me.
One day later, I received another call saying that they would not replace the bumper for me because there was some prior damage on my bumper and they would only take care of the rear left part of the bumper. As the body shop cannot guarantee the quality of work by only repairing the rear left part of the bumper, Progressive offered me a check of $7** for reimbursement. I was a little unhappy at the moment because 1) the prior damage to the bumper was minor; 2) Progressive saw my car and knew the condition before they made the first phone call to offer replacement of bumper; 3) even there was no prior damage to the bumper, they would still have to replace the bumper if the body shop cannot guarantee the repair quality of part of the bumper. However, I still accepted the offer because I think I can find a cheaper body shop and at most I'll pay extra $300 to get the bumper replaced.
On the third day, I received the third phone call saying that as the body shop already did wheel alignment on my car and did labor work of taking off and putting back bumper for damage estimation, they will charge $3** and Progressive will deduct that amount from the check offered to me yesterday. This is really unreasonable because they just told me yesterday that no repair will be done and I will get that $7** check. By deducting $3**, I will find nowhere to restore my car to the condition before accident. And how would I be responsible for the labor cost of damage estimation? I am really disappointed by the whole process because it looks like they are trying their best to play word games and reduce the amount they should pay for the damage.

Don't fall for the positive reviews as those are just their company soldiers trying to cover up for their **. In fact I felt somewhat threatened that we would lose our original money and would be responsible for unanswered added fees. I was involved in an auto accident. The police report clearly states, "Unit 1 failed to yield the right of way and tried to make a left-hand turn in front of unit 2 (my vehicle) causing unit 2 to hit passenger side of unit 1." Upon talking with the Progressive Insurance Company's adjuster named "Zack" to repair damages to my automobile, he had audacity to tell me that it was 80% fault of unit 1's driver and hence I was liable for 20% of cost incurred to repair my automobile. That's the most absurd thing I have ever heard from an Insurance company.
It is not enough that the unit 1's driver pulled out in my path, right of way, without yielding, but the adjuster claims that since "the air bags" were deployed in both the units, somehow indicated that driver of the unit 2, me, failed to brake!! Let me say if the bags had not deployed both unit 1's and unit 2's passengers would have been killed or seriously injured! The damage to my automobile is consistent with me having used my brakes if not my automobile would have been unrepairable! And Unit 1 may have been flipped over on its side.

But Thank God, I brought my vehicle to let some other professional look at it to give me a quote before the Progressive adjuster look at it because the Progressive adjuster quote me not even 1/3 of what the other place quote me and told me that's all they giving me to fix my SUV.
I told them that I want my SUV fix and that it wasn't enough money to fix my SUV and they told me that I could get my SUV to a body shop and get them to call in with a quote and that they will come out and look at it again. Well, the place that I want my SUV to fix did call and they have not respond back and is now giving them the runaround. If I have known it is this difficult to file this claim, I would have never gotten my insurance with Progressive.
Please don't make same mistake, there's so many better insurance company out there who will take care of you and appreciate your business. And also, when I requested to speak to somebody with authority at the station where they adjusted my vehicle, they told me that there's nobody else to talk to and they are in complete control. They also say that they are done with me and there's nothing else to talk about. They attempted to shut me up when I was having a conversation with another customer that agree with me and that was rude. Well, good luck to all that's having the same problem that I'm having. All I could say is switch to somebody else that care because this company want to take your money every month and when you file a claim, they don't want to pay you enough to take care of your damage.

I hit two deer at 65 MPH on I-17 in May 2015. I had my Suburban towed back to Phoenix to a Progressive Shop (Bell Honda Collision). The initial response was that they were going to total my truck because they couldn't find the custom bumper. When I told them I didn't care if I had a custom bumper or not they went on to repair the vehicle. When I got the vehicle back the air conditioning didn't work and the check engine light was on. I sent it back to the shop and when I got it back the air conditioning still didn't work.
I called Progressive and they told me that there hadn't been enough damage to the vehicle to warrant the air conditioning being broken. I explained to them that the air conditioning had worked just fine up until the moment I hit the deer and they explained to me that I was wrong. So I reiterated for the supervisor that I spoke with how I understood it. "You're telling me that Progressive's stance on this is that some time after I hit the deer, while it was being towed by your tow truck and worked on by your mechanics the air conditioning magically broke on its own." She said that there was no way there was enough damage from the accident that the air conditioning could have been damaged.
I ended up taking the Suburban to a private repair shop where they looked at the truck, said the fan clutch needed to be replaced and that very likely that seeing as how the air conditioning worked up until the accident, the impact of going 65 MPH when I hit two deer was very likely the reason that it had "moved" and caused the leaks that were now wreaking havoc throughout the entire A/C system. I had this verified by another private repair shop and called Progressive back. Their stance was firm and they would not budge. I cancelled my policy and now I have insurance with a more reputable company. My belief is that Progressive only holds to their statement of returning your car to you in the EXACT same condition it was in before the accident only holds true if it's not too expensive for them.

There are a few reasons why the bad review; one might assume that after you pay for services on time, on a monthly basis, on an automatic draw, for a few years, you are rewarded??? Not really the case??? My reward was a bill after I cancelled (which I obviously could not possibly owe) and did not feel I needed to pay and therefore did not pay, followed by bad credit reporting until I found out this was going on. I don't give a flying fist about the amount owed (according to them), I do however care that my credit was messed with on their behalf after giving them thousands of dollars and never filing a single claim.
I am currently going to pay that insignificant amount of $130 something that I never should have been liable for to fix my credit, but very much hoping that this review gives PROGRESSIVE insurance company a low blow by way of swaying just enough customers to a more "user-friendly competitor". I currently have LIBERTY MUTUAL which fairly priced in very close proximity to GEICO, which has great service and is very user- friendly. I am reviewing Progressive for extremely dissatisfied service. Our family vehicle was involved in attempted theft where the vehicle was wrecked by the thief on our property. My husband stopped the man from stealing our car and had injuries and extensive damage to the car from the event. This happened on March 29th and was reported to Progressive on March 30. We did not hear back from their company until April 5th, 4 business days after the event!!! No one came in that time to inspect our vehicle or call to assess damages until April 5! We received a phone call that they were going to start an investigation into the theft. My husband was out of town that week so I dealt with them from that time along with my husband since I was with the vehicle and he was not. The representative did not want to rely on our police report only and after complaining about how long this has taken, she set up a pick up for our car.
That was April 6, the company did not pick it up until April 9 and that is only because I called them myself to set up a time. The rep also said it was going to be housed locally but when it was picked up by the company they took it to a city 2 hours away. Just on April 13 we finally had an estimate for our vehicle that was NOT ACCEPTABLE or even comparable to what the car would be valued. I asked for a copy of the estimate to be emailed and still have not received that and it is April 15th, almost 3 weeks later. I called the company to file a complaint and the person I spoke to was unfriendly and said that the claim had only been in process for 2 weeks, this is not accurate and I told her the date our claim was made on again.
This company is not helpful when you are involved in a crisis, they do not make you feel comfortable in stressful and uncertain situations. They are supposed to help guide you through these times and make sure we are supported. We have now been 3 weeks without this vehicle and we rely on it to get our two small children to school everyday. I am beyond unhappy with their service and any conversation I have had with 3 different representatives. My husband will be changing insurance providers and I suggest you do not go with Progressive if you are wanting to be able to feel taken care of during a crisis.

DO NOT BUY PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE for your RV, boat, and possibly for any other vehicle. I had a full coverage stated value policy for over ten years. I paid extra (around $500 yearly) to cover the RV for a value of $19,000. Then I had ONE claim this year due to a windstorm ripping off the roof, a roof on a much newer RV beside mine, and a large oak limb behind it. Right from the beginning on the phone the adjuster talked like he had already made up his mind that he would find an exclusion in the policy to deny my claim. Sure enough, he looked at the RV for 5 minutes, took some pictures, and proceeded to tell me that the roof was old and damage was due to wear and tear and thus, not covered.
They would not even offer to cover a portion of the damage even though it was CLEARLY due to high wind and rain, not age. I continue to complain to management, the BBB, the state insurance division, and others. But Progressive continues to come up with excuses for their position. There are only two excuses: 1) Greed, 2) The policy is worthless. Of course the roof had a little age. It is a 1992 Winnebago. They knew the age of the roof, yet GLADLY took the high premiums every year. The point is, their exclusions page deep in the policy is MUCH longer than the coverage page and is purposely written vaguely to give them MANY ways to DENY YOUR CLAIM. I am not the first to discover this. Many thousands before have complained too, but they do not care. DO NOT BUY PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE. DO NOT BUY PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE.

We decided to change from Allstate to another automotive insurance. Allstate pricing was becoming too high and it looks like Allstate is only good while one has no accidents. After few scratches at parking lots during last 5 years, Allstate decided we needed to pay more and with their actuaries apparently not having sufficient skills to see how much money they were making on our 3 cars, they lost us as client after milking our family for 12 years.
So much for their loyalty to their customers! We checked with Progressive agent in Iselin, NJ, Farmers and Geico. Progressive agent William was very nice and professional, but he gave us honest company price and it was twice the amount of both, Geico and Farmers. I frankly feel for him, since with prices Progressive gives to him and other agents, he probably needs second job to survive. We went ahead with Geico due to good customers reviews. Lessons learned:
1. Allstate is not good long-term option. Company is OK, but it does not consider customer a long-term value, looks more at numbers.2. Progressive insurance is much more expensive than any other insurance and it is waste of time to even check their numbers!
3. Farmers is OK.
4. Geico appears the most reasonable.
We will post another review after 6 months to confirm there were no unexpected price hikes.

Progressive is not concerned with helping their customers, they are concerned with processing and closing claims as soon as possible, without bothering to review all the relevant documents. This roommate of mine has no access to my car. I do not authorize him to take my car ever, why should I be forced to include him on my policy? I will look into this and ensure that I report Progressive to the consumer protection agency!

I have been with Progressive for 9 years. I had an at-fault accident (first time in my 17 years of driving) where I hit a car in front of me while at a signal light. Minor damage only valued at $485.00. I didn't expect my premium to up that much since it was my first accident and I had been with their company since 2006. My renewal was sent to my email and they increased my monthly payment 96%! I called to find out why I was being charged so much for an accident that was valued at less than $500. They were not sympathetic at all.
They kept saying that since it was my fault and that I lived in California that the increase was appropriate. They said it would stay that way for the next 3 years! I told them it wasn't fair to charge me $1600 for a $485.00 accident claim. No matter what I told them, they did not care. So I decided to shop around after being heartbroken that my insurance company that I had been loyal to for almost a decade of my life didn't care about overcharging me for a very minor accident. (My license plate scratched the other persons car that was the only damage!)
I found another insurance company (a huge well-known company) who told me in my state that if the claim wasn't over $1000 in damage that my premium should not have went up that high. I switched over to them and am paying only $75.00 a month for the same coverage Progressive was trying to charge me $105 a month for. The new insurance company also told me they would lower my rates annually if I am not involved in any at-fault accidents or receive any moving violations with point counts. They did not surcharge me for my accident. Thank God I switched. Progressive should be ashamed of themselves!

I was rear-ended by a driver covered by Progressive over a week ago and still have not gotten any response from the claims adjuster, car assessor, etc. I have taken time off of work, and school to attempt to get a hold of someone who is able to help me. Their covered party is not returning their phone calls, texts, emails, and they are not moving forward with interpretation of the police report. This has been an absolute nightmare and have never had such poor customer service. I was referred to file the claim under MY insurance company and have MY insurance pay for this accident where it is absolutely clear that I was rear-ended and I am not at fault.
Absolutely terrible service, and I am at a loss for words as they will not assume liability for my totalled car after a week and a half of not receiving any contact back from their insured driver. Unprofessional, difficult to work with, and extremely set on NOT helping move things along. If I could mark less than one star for customer service, value, and coverage, I would.

My boat insurance with Progressive just increased by 28% with no justification or explanation as to why other than "We just increased the rate". There have been no accidents or claims to support this increase, where does it end?

To start, when I got the policy I was asked to go through an automated system to verify the charge every month to my bank account. 2 months later I get a overdraft on my account because of Progressive, they charged twice as much as I approved to be taken from my account. My bank was great, credited back the overdraft fees. I called Progressive to cancel and had to jump through hoops from the 15 - 28. When I cancel they cannot give me a refund amount, only advising it will be cancelled and I will receive an email (never received the email, had to get on the website for an information).
My refund is $ 150.00 less than it should of been. I call the Progressive and they advise me that it's an unearned premium charge. To me this was a cancel fee. Progressive want people to pay their bill and on time, but they can change premiums when and how they want. They can bill your account for a different amount than you approved. They lie by omission. This is a horrible company. I will never use them again, and I will tell all of my friends and family about this, help them find other insurance options. So disappointed in the service I received.

If you are contemplating to get a Progressive policy and you are reading this, PLEASE DO NOT GET PROGRESSIVE. Their customer service is horrible and in my case, they changed my policy and more than doubled my premium without my consent because someone HIT ME! Progressive does not know how to do business right nor they know how to treat their customers. My brother was hit while driving. Even though everything was settled in our favor, Progressive went ahead and added him under my policy as my spouse so that they could charge me for two people under the policy.
I had paid for a full year. This happened 6 months into that year and they were basically charging me for two more years in order to finish off those other 6 months. I spent maybe 4-5 hours on the phone trying to solve the problem without much understanding of my situation. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not get insurance with this company!

It's been months since the Progressive customer hit my car. Their policyholder was yelling angrily at the scene of the accident and refused to provide his insurance info. The police officer made me wait until the report was written to give me that info. Finally reported to his insurance company weeks later, and now it's been a month. They have yet to obtain the police report for the accident and did not even submit the request for it until two weeks after I started my claim! Claims Adjuster told me on the phone I would be covered at 100% but now she is saying that isn't true! Only communicate with this company by email, as they will lie over the phone!

I switched to Progressive which lasted 1 year. After a year they doubled my rate for no reason. Had no accidents, no tickets, nothing. Progressive said that "it is what it is". I didn't renew and switch to a different carrier. I then get a bill in the mail for 30 days of insurance after my cancellation date. I called them to told them that I didn't send a renewal check in because I switched carriers. They kept my insurance up and running for 30 days after I never renewed. I asked them why they would keep my insurance active when I never paid them. They told me that is standard procedure. I now have a collection on my credit report for 266.00 from Progressive. Unbelievable.

My Mercedes was hit while parked by a progressive insured client. I only wanted my vehicle fixed and return to me the same way before the accident. Progressive claimed that they will fix my vehicle and when I return to pick up my vehicle not only was there another bump in my bumper but my muffler is hanging out. Progressive then lied and told me my vehicle was in a accident in 2014. I got my car in 2015 so I pulled the Carfax. I found that; just ask the dealership stated, my car has never been involved in a car accident. Please do yourself a favor. Not only do not ever get Progressive Insurance but if someone with Progressive hit your vehicle do not allow them to repair your vehicle. They will use cheap parts and they will not repair your vehicle to its previous state. I'm looking for a lawyer. They cannot continue to take advantage of honest people.
