I am certainly not surprised that out of 337 reviews Progressive was able to reach as high a rating, as One and half stars!! - a Gold member for 3 years we submitted our first road accident claim which was handled poorly. The adjuster was not even remotely empathetic, nor helpful in the situation, and now it seems that a towing and storage fee that we paid on their advice to alleviate accrued storage, will not be paid as we have no 'receipt' except for a Towing Bill which reflects "PAID" - A vehicle cannot be released from any towing facility without payment - even Progressive should know that!!! How disappointing. My advice to NEW policy seekers - Let the ratings speak for itself!

This company doesn't listen to others. Just they will tell some stories, always protects criminals and refuses to provide claim. I have filed police complaint that other car with Progressive Insurance (Police provided me) hit my car and run away. When I reached Progressive they told they won't cover on the day. Police confirmed that their (Another car) Insurance is still active on the day of accident and Progressive is claiming that their insurance is disabled at the time of the accident. It doesn't make any sense Hitting somebody's car and disabling the insurance and hiding from Police and Progressive helping them to hide. Progressive is the worst company. And in my life, I won't do mistake of choosing Progressive for my own car. Instead am ready to pay more for other Insurance companies which will treat their Customers with great respect.

I was with Progressive for 5 years. Each year the price would slowly inch up a couple of dollars per month, which did not seem that bad at first. However about the 4th year of doing business with them without any accidents or claims the price went up tremendously. I contact them on several occasion to find out why the price continued to go up and got the standard "too many claims in your area." There was absolutely no quality customer service or satisfaction. In my 5th year my payment increased from 84.00 per month to 130.00 per month. When they asked if I would consider adding my home to the policy I said absolutely not. When I cancelled my insurance and paid the bill in full I later get a 35.00 bill for changing my address. This company has nickel and dimed me for 5 years. I will never used them again. Beware of their small increases they do not value loyal customers and that is bad business.

Couple things about this insurance. First, I signed up to snapshot program, they send me the device and it was worst experience ever. Even slow braking is treated as hard brake and dangerous driving. I was driving like 90 years old, never speeding nor hard breaking. I end up with $89 increase in my insurance cost. 2nd, I got hit and my car was totalled, they paid me $1800, same car with higher mileage is at least $4 500 on websites I searched. 3rd, because of that accident, even though it was not my fault, my insurance cost increased from $504 to $1100/months. Plus $89 increase from snapshot, so now my renewal is gonna cost over $1200 in January (insurance is valid thru 1.26). NOT WORTH TO SPEND TIME WITH THEM. BEEN THEIR CLIENT FOR OVER 4 YEARS AND THEY DO NOT CARE.

This company sent 3 failed contractors to fix a flat. Even the one tow truck driver couldn't tow a front wheel drive car because the back wheel was the flat one. It is under a car cover for winter idiots!!!

Long time Progressive customer carrying full coverage for years. Had hit a deer and vehicle was a total loss. Average selling price for my vehicle was 5-6k. They deducted 3k and argued with me about the condition of my vehicle. I received $2,200. After trying for 3 days to get them to change the value. I was heartbroken. I was a property adjuster, my company would never treat our customers so poorly. When I think of all the premium we paid, I feel so cheated and depressed. Progressive is the worst company.

My family has switched over from Allstate to Progressive and wow what a huge mistake. The biggest issue we have been having is something that is common sense yet Progressive completely lacks. It's common sense to NOTIFY a CLIENT when you SUSPEND their insurance. Not once, not twice but three times!!! How much more idiotic can this company be. JUST NOTIFY ME.
Yesterday I got pulled over because of my insurance being suspended. However we went to Motor Vehicles the day before to register a car. In order to Register a car you need insurance, and we talked to someone from Progressive about registering our vehicle 3 days ago yet they did not think to notify us that our insurance was suspended for one car for 64 days. So now because they did not notify us we have to surrender our license plate for 64 days... Excuse me... We need our car. The amount of headaches I have acquired because of Progressive is substantial and unbelievable.

I was seeking assistance in obtaining a rental vehicle because my vehicle was involved in a accident that possibly rendered a total loss. The customer service rep., who spoke in a very irritated tone, proceeded to aggressively ask me questions about who I was; "Why didn't you contact the other insurance?" She told me I needed to go downtown and get a copy of the police report and that it would take a week for her to get the report. I was ridiculed by her. She made me very angry and upset for thinking I pay these people to help me and yet she would not. I will be seeking other coverage. I will not pay to be disrespected by them.

I got a quote for auto insurance from Progressive Sept of 2017; down payment of $115 and 6 payments of $114. In Nov I called in to make a payment and their little automated system told me I needed to pay $180.00 to maintain policy. I called their customer service line and was advised since I did not register for paperless billing, sign a reject of uninsured motorist statement and create an online account I lost discounts that was quoted to me; I question to them was why was I not advised what the policy would be $180 if I did not do all the above.
So although they claim to offer you so many discounts there are conditions for having them; I just want to have coverage and don't want to play a do this, do that game to have coverage; who signs a statement saying they reject uninsured motorist? Isn't that a primary reason folks have insurance. I did try to work with them to restart the policy, however they refused to go back to original quote; needless to say I don't have Progressive anymore. Sorry Flo, you guys are more like "Regressive”! I was able to get a lower policy with another carrier with "uninsured motorist," and way less than first quote with "Regressive”!!!

They wanted proof of my son's address because we do not live together. I sent them the rent bill and another bill. Neither was sufficient for them. As I said he already has his motorcycle insurance through them. So, I asked if they could look up that policy for proof of his address and today I received an email telling me they could not use his policy or the rent bill for proof of address. They told me to look elsewhere for insurance. Great for business! I have has my mobile home insurance with them for at least 15 years and they tell me to go elsewhere. I have been a Progressive customer for 18 years. I had an accident last year resulting in 3500.00 damages paid to the other driver even though there was no damage to either vehicle. As a result my premiums went up 50% from 170 per month to 290, per month. They claim they have accident forgiveness but that is misleading. Because my wife had a minor accident 2 1/2 years prior that went against me thus raising our premiums. Then this year I bumped into a car backing up in a parking lot causing 1200 damage to the other car and none to mine. They then raised my premiums another $175 per month to $450 per month. Is this how you treat a loyal customer of 18 years? Needless to say, Progressive lost my business.

I was injured in an auto accident in June. I have been in physical therapy and gone through everything. My surgery on my shoulder in mid-December the insurance company seems to think it's okay to cut people's wage loss benefits right around November. Funny how that works out seeing all your wage loss benefits just not showing up especially when you're getting ready to go in for surgery. Not only that we have Christmas coming up and they can't even cut the checks that they're supposed to be cutting.
If there's any reason behind why they feel it's not necessary to pay somebody their wage loss benefits around the holidays so that my kids can go without and I also can't afford prescriptions and fuel to get to and from surgery I will never go through them again and I will tell you what I am telling everyone. I know to steer clear of Progressive Insurance because if you get injured you can count on not getting paid. So now as I sit here and they owe me over three weeks worth of payments my lawyer has been writing emails and calling them for a week now to try to figure out why for 3 weeks I haven't received not one payment. Merry Christmas to my kids. I hope their kids have a great holiday with their fantastic presents to open because my kids get to go without this year while they screw me around and my lawyer around as well. If I could give no stars that will make me happy...

We were both physically okay and since there was no shoulder on the winding dark road I did not think it safe to stay there. The whole cooling system is pushed in and the car is not drivable. I filed the claim the same day.
It is now 12/8 and no one from Progressive has been out to even look at my vehicle. They won't tow it to a shop. I cannot keep it where it is because my family member's landlord is complaining. AND THEY HAVE REQUESTED MY CELLPHONE RECORDS! Which I am reluctantly going to supply them out of fear of them denying my claim. They had originally told me that if I got a rental car they would reimburse the cost up to what my policy allows ($900). Well that covered 2 wks of a rental. And now they are saying that while I'm still under investigation they cannot reimburse me. I am a single mom, I work, I depend on a car for life... There is no public transportation where I live. A deer jumped out in front of my car. There is deer hair and blood all up in my grill... Why is this so difficult? It's a $6000 car... It's not like I have a Porsche! Stay away from Progressive! On November 1, 2017 we met a dump truck, about 200 yards from leaving the quarry just north of Brooklyn, WI hauling stone chips piled high over the bed of his truck and it was not tarped, and it was a very windy day, with wind speeds of 15-16 mph and gusts of 24 mph from the south easternly direction and the dump truck was traveling north and as our vehicles approached each other, some of the stone chips were blown off the top of his load on his left side and rained down on our left side on our new 2018 Ford F150 truck with only 225 miles that we had picked up just 4 days prior to this incident. The windshield and left side windows are damaged and pitted and the paint is chipped on the front, hood, left side doors, windows, left side of truck bed and the roof of the truck by those stone chips.
There was a vehicle following directly behind us and he saw it happen and his vehicle was damaged also, because he stopped when we stopped to look at all the damage. Progressive, the insurance carried by the dump truck, denied the claim because the dump truck owner said he was hauling rock and that would not blow off, but his weight ticket with his account number, and time, says he was hauling stone chips, so I contacted the supervisor from Progressive to appeal the decision and they sent their adjuster down to estimate the damage. At that time I told the adjuster that Progressive had denied the claim, he said, then why did they send him to look at it. After the adjuster looked over the truck, he found more damage that our local body shop had missed, and then he said the damage was consistent with what I told him about the stone chips raining down on our truck.
He ask me what Progressive thought how it happened and I said that they think that the chips came up off the truck tires. He said that was not likely with the way of the damage. Our local body shop had the damage estimated at $11,780.00. Progressive denied this claim, then I appealed it with the supervisor and after their adjuster was here on November 20, 2017, then Progressive denied the claim again on November 21, 2017. They denied it because they believed their insured when he said he was hauling rock and that could not blow off the top of his bed and he had so many wheels on his truck that it had to have flown up from the road and that is how both trucks were damaged, ours and the truck behind us. When the first claim person that I talked to from the Hudson, Wi. office Deshawn ** said that their insured was hauling rocks, that could not blow off.
Then he said that the driver of the truck disputed the police report, I ask him what there was to dispute, but he would not tell me, then he said that I said that I did not know where the chips came from. Which was I lie, for I did say that they came from the top of his load. Later we found out that there was not a full police report, and the officer could not tell where they come from, because when the officer questioned the driver his load was already unloaded, Far away from where the incident happened. So lie number two. We went so far as to write to the Progressive CEO. That was a joke, they sent it back to the claims dept to investigate, right back to Hudson, Wi. again. The supervisor then called me and said that the load was only half full and that it could not blow off. I told him that we had the weight ticket. He said that maybe that was not his ticket. But that is the trucker's account number.
Then supervisor said that the driver's load was level and could not blow off. What stories they tell to deny a claim. Here is some of the letter that supervisor sent us. From Bryan **, "Assuming this was our truck that passed by, we haven’t received any proof of where the rocks came from. The police were called to the scene, but there wasn’t a police report. We spoke with the responding officer, and he told us that the report wasn’t written because he couldn’t tell if the rocks came out of a truck or off the road. Our customer advised us that the truck wasn’t full to the top when he left the facility, so that’s why he didn’t tarp the truck. It isn’t a state statute that the truck needs to be tarped, and if it was, the officer would have cited our driver." There is a sign posted as the dump trucks leave the quarry "That all loads must be tarped". This is why I am writing this complaint. Because their claims department lie and deny!!!!

The overall experience was frustrating and without doubt confirmed my belief that they will do anything possible to pay the least amount, without regard to what is fair. It was all about the money. Progressive Insurance Company stands behind policies that discriminate against its customers based upon areas that they live in. Because a customer may not be able to afford to live in a specific area or where a class of people could live they charge a higher rate based on crime rate! It is horrible to think about companies that give little thought to their customers who give them such fine livings. I urge people to contact your local insurance companies and stand up to them about this matter. I urge you!!
Progressive is well aware at my anger about this situation in their corporate office and so I urge people to contact them and let your voice be heard. Let them know that we should not be pushed around like cattle. I am a customer that is not a part of the problem. I should not be charged higher rates based on these factors. Their excuse is that it helps them to be more competitive but we all know that that's not true because our rates don't go down they always go up! Stand up and do something about this please! Please call and say something. Escalate your phone calls!

I always purchase roadside assistance because of my age and inability to handle car emergencies. Have NEVER been cancelled because I actually used it. NOT TOO PROGRESSIVE! Wow!

A Progressive customer damaged my vehicle when his couch flew off his trailer and hit me on the freeway in TX. It was obviously his fault and he gave me his Progressive policy information. Dealing with the claims department was a nightmare. They did not want to give me a rental car and they kept telling me I need to put all this on my own insurance first and then the two insurance companies could battle it out. This suggestion was made on three separate occasions. This is bogus when you're not at fault. Your own insurance company does not need to be involved whatsoever. They even wanted my insurance company to pay for the rental car, they said just so I can get a car even faster. The damage to my vehicle was so minor only $1764 but they wanted to make this into a really big deal and I almost had to hire an attorney.
When you call they do not answer their phones, you always have to leave a message, they call you back when they feel like it and this was their way of doing business?? I was highly disappointed because Progressive is splashed all over the TV and if they're not paying their claims I guess they're using the money to pay for the TV ads. Flo must be living in a mansion by now. The estimator got a hold of me and apologized for the two women in the office for the way they behaved and the way I got treated and he paid the $1764 with no problem. He was the most kind, considerate person I got to deal with but unfortunately by the time he stepped in I was already extremely stressed out. If they treat people this way for a minor accident such as mine just think how they treat people that have major accidents that really need help.

When I checked my email after I arrived at work I noticed an email from Progressive stating that my auto policy had been cancelled. This made absolutely no sense because I paid all of my statements and my account was current. When I called to ask about this they stated that their underwriting team had sent me over 20 emails warning me that I needed to take action on my policy. I checked and they sent me absolutely nothing. All they wanted was to talk about and verify my coverage selections... THEY COULD HAVE DONE THAT WITH A PHONE CALL!!! When I asked them to reinstate my policy they refused to do so, they could only quote me for a entirely different policy. After 30 minutes on the phone entering all of my information again the quote was close to $200 more than what I was paying previously. I switched back to State Farm even if it means paying a little more, I've never had a problem with them.

So she went outside to start the car and move it outside to warm it up and while moving it outside she hit the passenger side of my bumper. So they sent out a estimator come out and he estimated my vehicle at $652.00. My girlfriend's vehicle was hit on the passenger bumper and he estimated hers for 600.00. Now they say it's under investigation for her changing her deductible 2 to three weeks before it happened. So I have to go through my State Farm Insurance to fix my bumper. Then State Farm will collect from Progressive. Progressive Insurance is the WORST!!! If anybody out there is looking for insurance stay away from Progressive!!!

I had hail damage on both of my cars, a Nissan Sentra 2016 and a Subaru WRX Premium 2017. I went to the service center in Bridgeton, MO in the St Louis area as instructed, wasted almost 2 hours there so they could check the cars and then the service representative was very rude and unprofessional trying to tell me whether or not I should go to a Subaru dealer to get an estimate and I also heard the conversation he had with another employee to try to persuade me to fix the car there by lowering the estimate amount, so my check would be lower.
Then I clearly said I did not want the check until I was able to get another estimate and he kind of pretended he did not hear me and went ahead and printed the check anyway (only for the Subaru amount), then told me I should not care about going to a dealer and then said that his estimate was not accurate and that the amount could go up if they end up having to replace parts which is obviously not considered in his ridiculous estimate he gave me.
The experience was the worst possible. I had a similar issue with hail a few years ago in 2014, exactly on the same residence and I had a Civic 2012. Car worth 15K USD, another insurance company gave me a check for almost 9K USD and now I take two cars there, with a very similar damage because they were exactly on the same parking spot, both cars worth around 40K USD and Progressive offers me a check for 3K USD on a 27K USD Subaru WRX Premium 2017 and then 2.5K USD on a 15K USD Sentra 2016?
I am not stupid. I could clearly see the representative was not happy when I told him I was going to a dealer and again, I heard the woman, saying he should try whatever it takes to make me fix the car there when it is weather related. PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR INSURANCE WITH PROGRESSIVE, THE SAVINGS ARE NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE YOU WILL HAVE. Get State Farm or Liberty, they are more professional and it will try to fix your issue as soon as possible.

They made me wait over a month until they determined that they would not cover the damage and that they justified their decision telling me that I committed fraud that they believed that my car was at another address instead of at my home. Does this make any sense? I think they discriminate against people. I think that any way they could get out of paying a claim they will. People need to know exactly what they're paying for when they pay high insurance premiums. I have never had a ticket. I have never been in an accident. I moved to Texas and started shopping for car insurance as my existing PA insurance company wanted to raise my premium by over 100%. I requested a quote from GEICO and Progressive and found that Progressive was slightly cheaper. I signed up for the discount linked to using the snapshot device and started my insurance. As soon as I installed the snapshot device I started hearing the beeps when I braked, and soon realized that the criterion for a “hard brake” (7 miles per hour speed reduction in less than 1 second) is an arbitrary and hard to meet criterion of a “safe driving” habit. It is triggered very often in the city, as you try to avoid a yellow light, a car braking hard in front of you, or simply slowing down for a turn.
My “grade” and the grade of my wife and children started dropping immediately and no amount of care would help it. I started driving in a truly unsafe manner to avoid the beeps, not slowing down fast enough to avoid collisions or yellow traffic lights. My grade still didn’t improve. When I called Progressive they told me that the “fast starts” were impacting my grade. Fast starts are considered an increase in speed of 9 mph or more in a second. There are no beeps to warn you of these and the online report does not track fast starts. As for the hard brakes, this measure is arbitrary and hard to meet, as starting to drive when stopped at a red light and not increase your speed from 0 to 9 mph is almost impossible and often unsafe.
I started to realize that the snapshot discount is a “bait and switch” tactic to lure you into buying a policy that has the appearance of being cheaper than competitors. The problem is that there is almost no way to keep that discount if you are a normal, safe driver. If you opt out of snapshot before 45 days, your snapshot discount goes away. If you opt out after 45 days, you pay a penalty and your snapshot discount goes away. This is a scam that should be fully investigated and calls for a class action lawsuit for unfair business practices.

I've been with Progressive for several years now. I was recently involved in a car accident in which I was making a left hand turn and a driver hit me from the opposing left hand turn lane. She was trying to avoid the backed up traffic so used the turn lane to go around them and cut through the intersection and due to her speed totaled both cars. She didn't hit the brake or even so much as beeped the horn before hitting me. The police officer at the scene tailored the police report in her favor and gave me a ticket, which was dismissed in court just recently.
I filed my claim with Progressive (both of us were insured through them) and sent in all accident pictures to validate my account of the accident. After several discussions and even the damage inspector saying that the damage to both vehicles matched my account of the accident, the analyst still found me 100% at fault due to the inaccurate police report.
I called to speak to a supervisor. I was put on the phone with a rep that literally screamed at me that she's been doing this for a long time. The pictures showing the vehicle that hit me came from wrong lane were from impact not from her actually coming from that lane (keep in mind our cars were stuck together and her wheels were straight). I told her that I have a child and she could've easily have been in that car when the woman carelessly hit me. Her response was "So, that has nothing to do with the situation." For my policy renewal next month, they doubled my rate. I'm still fighting with them on the matter. Needless to say I'm leaving Progressive and regardless of their rate in the future, I won't be returning.

I completed the online quote and the price was very reasonable. We contacted a Progressive agent and when she ran a scan against our VIN number she noted we had 3 claims over the past 3 years and our rates would double - almost triple. The claims were for hitting a deer (damn deer - running out of nowhere and causing me to hit you), replacing my windshield due to cracks (from rock chips - guess Progressive doesn't want me to be able to see the road) and the wind pulling the door out of my hand and caused it to not close right (I paid for this repair myself but initially opened a claim). No tickets - no accidents involving another vehicle - simply LIFE happenings. I asked the Progressive agent what would have happened if we would have clicked on the "Buy Now" button on their website and purchased at the quoted rate and her response was Progressive would have come back and billed us extra after getting information from our VIN.
So due to rock chips, wind damage and a wayward deer that wanted to die by running out in front of us Progressive wants to double/triple our rate??? We have excellent credit, no accidents, no tickets. No thanks Progressive. BTW - I have my RV Insurance through Progressive - but when it comes time to pay our annual premium we'll be buying from someone else.

I do not have Progressive but had to deal with them as the "at-fault" driver of a recent accident was their client and I had to go through them to get my car repaired and get a rental while my car was repaired. First, calling me and leaving a message on my home phone to call back is fine. However, when I call back and leave three messages for Michelle, over a matter of a few days would suffice as calling her back. Somehow, she was able to obtain MY HUSBANDS PRIVATE cell phone number at which time she asked for me. My name is not associated with the cell phone account IN ANY WAY. However, she was able to obtain this information. Why did she feel the need to resort to such (illegal?) tactics to find me when I had tried to contact her a number of times as she requested?
I also felt she employed intimidating tactics during the phone interview about the accident. Now her client received a ticket and was 100% responsible for damaging two cars so why the heck is she trying to intimidate ME?? Thirdly, when I called to set up a rental car, she located a local rental company for me to rent from. She asked me to call her when I made an appointment with the auto body shop so that she could authorize the rental. The same day as well two more times that week, I left messages on her phone stating when I needed the rental (this was a full week before I needed it). I did ask her to call me back to confirm that she did in fact get my messages. She never did. It's possible she didn't get the messages I left for her at the number she gave me and with the greeting that I could leave a message for her and she would get back to me within 24 hours.
Of course, on the day I need the rental, I called the rental company to confirm that Michelle has authorized a car for me. Nope. She didn't. When I called her, she stated she needed a copy of the appraisal and could I fax it to her. Now this is a full three weeks after our initial discussion and two weeks after discussing rental authorization. She had all this time to request a copy of the appraisal. Yes? Of course, I was at work, did not have it with me and could not get her a copy at that moment. But hey, she was NICE enough to authorize an initial three days of car rental for me as long as I emailed her the appraisal later. So imagine my surprise when I go to get the rental and she allowed a COMPACT car even though I drive a sedan. I will never buy Progressive insurance based on this experience with them. I understand they are trying to save money by trying NOT to pay for anything their clients are responsible for.

Earlier in the year, I was involved in a very minor accident (tapped the back of someone's bumper on the way home from work). There was absolutely no visible damage to either car, but since I knew I was at fault, I decided to bite the bullet and report the claim to my insurance provider. I followed all the instructions from my claims representative (submitted photos, dashcam footage etc.) and expected a small to moderate increase in my insurance premium on my next renewal.
Fast forward a few months and I receive my renewal notice. To my surprise, the renewal amount was DOUBLED from $635 to $1280. My first thought was that someone had made a mistake in the calculation, but after looking through my claims report, I learned that the other party involved in the minor accident mentioned above had reported an injury from the accident as well as vehicle damage. This would obviously have a significant effect on new insurance premium.
I was furious at the fact that Progressive did not notify me at all about the outcome of this claim, and was completely unwilling to explain to me the absolutely ludicrous increase in my premium that resulted. Long story short... The person I hit claimed a false injury and false vehicle damage causing my premium to DOUBLE (no joke). And I was never allowed to defend myself due to lack of communication from Progressive. They made absolutely no effort to re-examine the claim or provide any details about dealings. This is not the right way to deal with loyal customers. I am no longer a with Progressive Auto Insurance.

I've been a Progressive customer for about six years, but have never had any problems. That is until I became unemployed and had to stop automatic payments in July. That appeared to change in August when I was unable to pay until after the due date. I'd called in and explained to them I'd be able to pay, but it'd a few days after the due date this one time. I also had stated I wanted to get my due date moved back 10 days later since another bill was due the same date and I was having difficulty making both, due to unemployment. These were supposedly both taken care of.
I made my payment, however, my bank wouldn't allow the transaction, leaving me to believe I had taken care of it. It's not as much Progressive's fault as my bank's, but what followed afterwards is certainly on their hands. I received no overdrafts, nor was I notified, when I, in fact, know I had had enough money in my account to cover the charges. My bank later told me they had no account of it.
Several days had passed after I made my payment until I suddenly got something from Progressive, threatening to cancel my policy unless I'd made my payment. Having no idea what had happened, I immediately called them to find out what was going on. That's when they informed me my bank had declined the transaction and I still owed, like the notification I'd gotten said. I went ahead and paid again, this time having no problem.
August passed, but one day, I received an email saying that I'd owe $173, nearly $35 more than what I usually pay, forcing me to call in again. This time, the rep said I was paying an extra $20 for the bank returning my payment and for a reinstatement fee, which I had no idea of ever being canceled. Maybe a day or so later I got more mail, this time saying I must pay $325 or my policy would be canceled, which included a past due amount of the 173.21--more than two payments in one month.
Again, I had no other choice but to call in. I told the rep I would not be able to pay that amount to its entirety, but I would be able to make my monthly payment, with the remainder coming a bit later, which the rep said would be no problem as long as it was within two weeks after. On September 27, I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize, which I don't answer in any way, if I can help it. I looked the number up and found it belonged to none other than good old Progressive, leaving me a dead message. I called in, and listened to the automated message saying they'd called because they needed to discuss my policy with me--which I had just done six days earlier.
I had the exact same conversation I had had then, also with the rep agreeing it'd be OK to pay the entire amount within a two week period. That was the first of FOUR phone calls I would get from the same number, each leaving me dead air messages. I blocked the number after the second one and called back in asking what the big idea was with the harassing calls, especially after I'd already talked to them once. Girl said they'd stop calling if I didn't wish to be called anymore. Some good that did as I ended up getting two more with me telling them NOT to call me again after the third.
September 30 rolled around and I made my payment for the past due balance of 173.21 online as I said I would and received a confirmation number. Three days later, imagine the fury I felt when I received an email saying my policy was not renewed. For the 1000th time in September, I called in asking what happened. Idiot told me it wasn't renewed because I hadn't made a payment, which I said I did and gave him the confirmation number. I hadn't made the FULL payment because I was told I wouldn't risk not being renewed on several occasions, which he had note of.
After a good delay, he apologized because they told me that, but I'd have to pay the remaining $151 for it to renewed. Knowing I wasn't going to get around it, I told him I'd pay the remainder sooner. I am very tempted to take my business elsewhere after all the harassment, nonsense, and the circus act Progressive turns into if something gets changed. One person tells you one thing while the next one says something else.
Had I known all the misery I'd have once I removed auto pay, I'd have stayed on it, which I reinstated for October. Jacked up rates, extra payments, nonsense with the bank, and confusion made for a nightmare once I got off it. No way I'm going through that again and I am considering getting something else after 2017 ends.

Progressive jacked up my premium $20 a month. I called a representative to let them know I would not be renewing. A few days later after my contract ended, I realized they renewed my contract. After being on hold for thirty minutes I finally did manage to cancel my contract but they still charges me $8 for unpaid services. I switched to another big name insurance company and now I am saving $70 a month on car insurance. I signed up with Progressive because the rate was great. I was also told that once I start graduate school I can receive a discount for being in school. A week in they raised my rate $30 per month because they forgot to add the cost for using my car for work, that was strike 1. But I had the snapshot and the snapshot discount. I drove with it for 6 months it was mainly a B then went to a C because I was driving too much. It wasn't even the breaking so much. I was told that taking a trip somewhere far wouldn't affect my rates but repeated long trips would.
I drove to the beach and an amusement park and I went down to a C. Randomly a couple weeks after. I was told by the agent that I should take the bus to work and not drive so much, also not to worry about my rate increasing because I live in a state that doesn't increase the rate based on the snapshot. So took the bus to get the grade higher even though I was pissed off I didn't buy a new car to sit in a parking lot. But my grade went back up. So by the end of the six month period I got a $8 discount. Which doesn't even begin to make a dent in the cost for taking the bus to work.
Then I got my new rate. My insurance went up about $20. I started school and got a new job that didn't require using my car. So I called to let Progressive know to get the discount. I was told that there is no discount for being in graduate school only once you graduate. So that was no change. So I told them about my new job and got a $1.50 discount. RIDICULOUS!! When I asked why it was so high I was told because I had discounts for essentially being a new member like signing documents electronically and that there was a rate increase in my area. I should have saw that coming. Beware the snapshot and know that your rates will increase after the first six months. Also DO NOT listen to the customer service reps when they say you can get discounts for going to school because you only get it once you graduate.

My motorhome took a direct hit from Hurricane Harvey in Rockport. Every single RV in the park was torn up. All of the owners have been compensated for their loss... Except me. I am sick of hearing it was my fault that 145-165 mph winds and lashing rain for 8 hours caused the seams to leak and destroy the only home for me, my daughter and my grandson. The "adjuster" obviously doesn't have a clue what an RV looks like after going through a CAT 4 hurricane. What was their solution instead of totaling it? Detail it. Seriously? The floor is falling out!
The motorhome does not need "detailed". It will need molded carpet removed and new sub-flooring and flooring installed, molded wooden cabinets replaced, ceiling torn out and replaced, damaged vents and skylight replaced, wall torn out and repaired, possible electrical wiring replaced from water damage, refrigerator replaced, propane lines tested for leaks, water lines tested for leaks, screen door repaired, bent coach exterior door repaired, cab wiring tested (headlights are coming on randomly when motor is off), diesel engine is surging, paint damaged from flying debris, $2500+ destroyed personal items. This is why I pay insurance premiums monthly. Every single RV in the park was totaled. Mine was built a little better, but it is still uninhabitable. I truly hope Progressive will choose to do the right thing in this disaster. This is my only home and I need it rebuilt or replaced. I'm done with the excuses.

Started to tell what happened to the agent who called me and she got argumentative and called it a theory, I said, "It is not a theory, I am holding the piece she tore off as we speak!" I asked, "Why did you call it a theory," she then said, "... I didn't say theory," I said, "Yes you did, this is being recorded." She ended up getting argumentative and hung up on a person who had just suffered an accident.
I got the impression that they wanted me to accept responsibility for what I didn't do because it would make life easier for them somehow. I was looking for a new insurance company when I saw this website. You should look for a different company than Progressive, they seem have too many mental issues to handle whatever insurance needs that you may have.

As with other complaints I too was denied coverage. I've been with Progressive for a while. I had only liability and when I bought a used Altima I added full coverage. Five days after I purchased the car I was sideswiped on my driver's side. The driver ran off and I filed a police report. There weren't Major damages but I wanted the car back to the way it was. I told the claims rep that I realized there were scratches on the vehicle and I would be happy to show the adjuster what was there and what wasn't. She was very happy to help and I took my car to a body shop.
The next day the adjuster showed up without me being there. He only looked at damages that I told the rep was already there. The rep told me that my claim was denied because the damages were not consistent with a hit and run and she wanted pictures of the car before I bought it. Of course I didn't have any and even if I did the car looks brand new far away. I do not know of a single soul who takes up close and personal pictures of their car. That would be the only way you would be able to see previous scratches. And they threw in that my policy was only 5 days old. They are the WORST insurance company I have ever dealt with. When my policy is up in January you better believe I will be changing companies no matter what the cost. I can't even give Progressive one star. They're no worth it!!!

I had the worse experience at Progressive. I never thought calling for answers and having questions in order to get my license was such a huge ordeal and headache. My mother who does speak another language and understands a bit of English... Was being proactive about the translator in order to help me since it is under her name. I let her know that we will be on the phone and I can be there to listen/help her along the way. How is it offensive when I am clearly helping her? The Lao translator cut my mom off and was being extremely rude to her. She was telling her "LISTEN TO ME, DON'T TALK MUCH and LISTEN UP". Using her tone of voice to scare my mother to be quiet and asking my mother if she UNDERSTOOD HER in OUR LANGUAGE when she did not even begin to explain anything yet.
The immense of disrespect and how Progressive picks and chooses its translators says a lot about the company. I speak the language daily and English is my second language (I speak it fluently). DORINE the underwriter had the tone of voice where she sounded extremely annoyed by the fact of us HAVING to get a translator. Yes my mother drives all three cars because my license is suspended, why would I drive? Kind of a stupid question if you ask me. I thought you are in this field to help people, not give attitudes like you did not want to work today. Simply by this gesture and encounter, I will be withdrawing our insurances and input our money elsewhere. I cannot fathom the fact that their rates are VERY HIGH even WITHOUT me being added onto the policy. Good grief...

I moved out of state and contacted them to discuss the process of transferring my policy. I was told until I have a driver's license from the new state I would not be able to transfer the policy. A note was made on my account that I had moved out of state. In order to get my new driver's license I had to order a new birth certificate that took some time. I finally obtained a driver's license and go to change my policy info etc. Well I went on Progressive's website in an attempt to change everything electronically. In doing so, I found out that my policy had been canceled 3 days prior without any notification. I called to see why I had not been contacted and to fix the problem, renew the policy and move on, no big deal.
Apparently, the note they put on my account was the reason for the cancellation. I was trying to take the appropriate steps to make everything current and was punished because of the time it took to get all the appropriate documents in place. I asked why haven't I been called or emailed about the policy cancellation. The customer service supervisor told me that numerous emails were sent. I asked for him to forward me one of the numerous emails, to see what the problem was. He said, "Sir, you want me to send you every email we have sent you in the past?" I said "No, don't be ridiculous, I am trying to see what the problem is so that it doesn't happen again." Well I was then told that a policy cancellation is a legal issue and that the communication was sent to the address on file not via email, as he had lied about before.
It was obvious the supervisor had no intention of retaining my business. He didn't want to be bothered and was condescending. I have been with Progressive for 9+ years and this is how I was treated. Despite this I tried to continue insurance coverage with them because I didn't want to deal with trying to find other coverage. I was told that I would need to put a deposit down, if I was an eligible customer. So in the 3 days from the cancellation, I was no longer an eligible customer for insurance after 9 years of loyalty. I guess it was my fault that their customer service representative/supervisor was clueless of his responsibilities. It seems that Progressive is more focused on their ridiculous commercials rather than their actual customers. Bad customer service equals bad business. Look elsewhere for coverage with the numerous options, this company is not worth the trouble!

I recently shopped around for a new quote because the latest renewal (even though we do not have any new violations) again was raised almost $50 a month.
I contacted Progressive BEFORE switching to see if there was any way they would lower their rate to what was offered to me by another company. They said that I must not have been honest about the violations because they offer the best rate out there, when the real reason is they are not dropping the accident of over 3 years ago off the policy. When I asked as to the explanation for the rate increase they stated that their expenses went up in the state I'm in so they were passing it on to their customer.

I signed up for the Snap Shot Program in an effort to bring down my insurance rates. The Snap Shot device plugs into the underside of the dashboard and if you accelerate too fast or brake too hard you hear a little beep which means it transmitted that driving behavior to the insurance company. I tried so hard to never hear that beep! I allowed large distances between me and any car in front of me. I didn't speed, and to the best of my ability I braked gently and did not accelerate quickly.
However, I noticed that even on gentle braking I heard the beep. I have hills around my house which requires me to apply the brake a little harder and I would hear the beep. So I called them to complain and they told me to take a different route. They also told me I was doing fine. My letter grade at that time was a 'B". So I often chose a longer route to avoid the hills and beeps. Additionally, about half my driving time I did not drive during rush hours which is another thing they grade you on. I work part-time and often was able to avoid heavy traffic times. All to say my driving greatly improved and I was expecting my rate to go down!
Today I called them because the email I received at the end of my 6 month period did not show how I did. I found out my rates went up $50 a month! I asked why and he said the data showed because it was time of day and my braking! That's crazy. He said my grade dropped from a B to a C- but he couldn't tell me what changed to make my grade drop from a B to a C-. Many times during the 6 months I considered their program was rigged because the beeps would go off even on gentle braking but I gave it a chance even though I kept hearing those beeps. Friends who rode with me even commented and thought it was too sensitive. I was driving like an old lady! Now I'm convinced it was rigged.
Progressive Auto Insurance rigs their Snap Shot program to increase your insurance rates. I was and still am driving better and more carefully than any other time in my life and will continue to do so. And yet my rate still went up! Buyer beware! They will tell you that you will get a discount for signing up but, trust me, at the end of the program you WILL pay more!

I have dealt with Progressive Insurance more than I would want to have anyone deal with this terrible company. This company wants me to pay out of pocket expense for damage that was their clients fault. They want the shop to use aftermarket parts to fix my OEM parts that were damaged. They want to manipulate the body shop to pay their employees the average rate of all body shops. They are less than $400 apart on the estimate and their client is at fault and they want me to pay the difference. They blame the shop for being too high of price. This shop doesn't have a problem with any other insurance other than Progressive. I have had a vehicle fixed by the recommended shop before and they used aftermarket and used parts which gave me nothing but trouble afterward.
A used radiator was installed on my truck and it had 70,000 miles and leaked a month later and on and on. Progressive says they will guarantee the repair if I take it somewhere else. I know this company well enough not to fall for this because when I call them they will do nothing for me. I have taken my car to a reputable shop that has a long history of fixing things right the first time so why would I go anywhere else. I went somewhere else before I found this shop and had nothing but trouble.
I had another claim with their client being at fault and Progressive representative looked at our vehicle and told my wife and myself that we were lying and wasn't even involved in the accident because the sheriff didn't list our vehicle on the accident report but the sheriff talked with my wife and wrote her name down, progressive contacted Sheriff and found out we were involved but don't you think they should do this before they say we were lying. I didn't want the policy to start until a couple of days before my current one ended, which was like a couple of weeks. When they ask for payment, I called to ask why they ask to pay up front and the representative said in order to guarantee that quoted rate I had to pay before the start date or risk the rate increase. I explained I didn't want the policy to start until my current one ended in a couple weeks, so he said I could go ahead and cancel my current policy and get a refund for the days not used and start my new policy with Progressive today after payment is received. I thought, since it was much cheaper than my current agency for both auto and rentals and didn't want to miss the quoted rate, I decided to go ahead and pay using my checking account.
Before I did I ask him what if I decided to cancel before the policy starts, he said no problem. My money would be refunded back immediately. A couple minutes later after I made the payment, I received confirmation and instructions to create my online personal account page with all policy information. I created the page and was browsing the policy information when I noticed it didn't have the rentals policy on it, only the auto policy information. I immediately call back and just so happen to get the same representative. I told him I didn't see my rentals policy only the auto, so he looked it up on the computer and said, “You made a payment for the auto insurance only” and I had to pay the rental policy separately. I told him the quote given was for the bundle (auto & rentals) but he assured me it wasn't, so I told him, “Well y'all need to fix your SCAM website, I best stay with my current agency because your rates is double what I'm paying so I need to cancel.”
He canceled their policy and assured me immediately and sent me a confirmation email. This was on a Sunday which transactions don't process on weekends with my bank (Capital One). So on Monday I checked my bank account to make sure and the transaction hadn't processed, I checked on Tuesday, still hadn't processed so I was sure they didn't process it. This took place on August 27, 2017, today is September 4, 2017. I called Progressive to ask where the hell is my money they stole from my account after they cancelled and was not suppose to process, she talking about they have to put a 12 day hold on ALL checking account refunds and my refund was due to be processed on September 8th.
Boy was I pissed, I told her I'm filing a consumer complaint if my money was not in my account the end of business day tomorrow, since today is Labor Day Holiday. Also tomorrow I am going to contact my bank and tell them the transaction was refunded and not to be processed. Progressive online quote site is a SCAM, they are a SCAM, they steal your money and hold it hostage, their rates are OUTRAGEOUS! The real reason they're holding my money hostage is due to Hurricane Harvey. I'm sure they have to pay out thousands of dollars of damages. I hope they go bankrupt from Hurricane Harvey and other future natural disasters! I rated customer service one star because HE LIED. I rated value 1 star because their rates are outrageous. I rated coverage 1 star because their website coverage rate was a fraud/scam.
Now my email inbox is full of their cries asking me to return for business. Excuse me Progressive but have you checked your ratings lately? Thumbs down to you and Flo... STAY AWAY FROM THEIR ONLINE QUOTE WEBSITE BECAUSE WHAT YOU SEE ISN'T WHAT YOU GET! Don't trust their phone representatives because, they probably get a bonus for each consumer they scam. I currently pay 168 with them since the city I live in now in LA is different. They told me when I signed up if I could provide my previous driving record and it was good, my rate would be lower. I finally got around to getting my driving record from British Columbia (province in Canada if you are not familiar). I have a perfect driving record. No accidents.
I called Progressive yesterday and told them that I had obtained my driving record. After being on hold twice for a while the representative came back to the phone and said "well we haven't been charging you extra premiums for not providing a driving record before so there is nothing more we can discount." I asked her why I would have been initially told differently when I signed up. She did not have an answer. I then asked the rep why I had friends who used Progressive and paid less for vehicles that were luxury and newer. She then said "yes I see what you are saying. That doesn't make sense. Let me get you over to our customer retention team so we don't lose you." I agreed and was placed on hold.
I waited and waited but no one answered so I hung up. Later I started shopping around for insurance. Every company offered substantially lower amount than what I pay. For fun I decided to go to Progressive and get a quote. I chose a new customer. The rate was $70.60. This was the same middle insurance package that I currently have with them but I pay over double currently. Like I mentioned above, Progressive Insurance is garbage! Don't be fooled by those creepy Flo commercials! They are terrible! They will take fault in accidents that weren't even your fault just to close claims as fast as they can, they don't care about your rates going up or your record being **, all they care about is squeezing as much money out of you as possible. My rates doubled while being with these creatures, I'm currently with Esurance, Pay Per Mile, and I'm paying about 30% of what those disgusting animals over at Progressive were charging me.

I purchased insurance with Progressive and paid in full for 6 months. Soon after, I received notice asking for further documentation on mine and my husband's residence. (We had recently moved and my husband had not corrected the address on his driver's license.) My husband went to the DMV and "replaced" his license. I sent documentation to Progressive. The first person I spoke to told me that, "His license would not be accepted as proof of residency because the license stated "replaced" instead of "issued"!!! This type of "customer service" continued while I spoke to approx 5 different people, on 5 different occasions, all of which gave me different, conflicting information.
We had received an additional bill from Progressive for almost $200.00 due to the address being incorrect (even though we had paid in full). They asked for another proof of residency. I provided them with an internet bill. To make a long story shorter; It took approx 2 months to get the policy corrected. I finally had to ask for the help of a family member, who works in the field, to get the bill corrected. I spent hours online and on the phone with these people. I am rewriting with another company, even if it cost more.

For some reason I was not able to speak to anyone else other than the representative that was handling my claim during that time. But after completing a survey online, a supervisor contacted me and told me every single FALSE information that the representative had wrote in the report and was not said or given by me! Progressive clearly does not care about their customers, because they have those type of people working for them. Don't trust them at all! So I called to ask that the extra charge for disconnecting my bank account was removed and the agent told me he could not do it. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and the supervisor told me that the information was incorrect and that they were not charging for this service beforehand and that the agent who gave me this information was wrong. I paid to have no problems, strange thing is that two agents of their company saw the same overload. I feel cheated and stolen by this insurance.

Customer for 17 yrs. Thursday night car was in an accident. Had to have AAA tow because my policy didn’t cover towing even with full coverage. Since it was a claim against Progressive they said an assessment would have to be completed before work could be done. Wasn’t a big deal initially because they said Friday or Saturday it should get done. Have emailed and called the rep without response Sat, Sun, Monday. The shop it’s at had to give me an update on Progressive’s plan and are saying Progressive said will be doing assessment Tuesday.
It’s Monday afternoon and I have my doubts. I’m 4 states away from home and work and they will have taken what should be considered 4 business days just to pre-process the claim and do the assessment. Anticipate changing insurance though. This is my first insurance claim and find it crazy, over past 17 yrs by my account have paid in 38k in just auto insurances, not including home or any other insurance. Seems crazy that a claim that should be maybe 2k at most is so difficult and time consuming.

I have had Progressive auto insurance since 2008 and have been very fortunate to not have any accidents in that time... However, I did add a leased vehicle that I co-signed for a friend that I added to this policy a little over a year ago. The additional car, being a "luxury" vehicle as well as a lease increased my rates a significant amount as I made sure my friend's car was covered as well as it possibly could be. Quite unfortunately I received an email Monday of this week from Progressive regarding a claim I had no idea about- Keep in mind at this point I am barely in contact with given individual as they have faulted on numerous payments that I kept up with as to not affect my credit. Anyway, I contact Progressive, give the claim number, find out the details of this accident that the "friend" did not tell me about (but was on top of telling progressive), they gave me tow info and told me all the next steps of what to do.
Next morning I get the plates from the junkyard, snap a picture of the mileage, respond to a secure email to pass along the information of the lien holder and go about my normal work day. Wednesday I speak to both the medical representative as well as the amazing person handling my claim (Janelle). I had a million questions and concerns about my rates increasing due to this accident, owing Mercedes Benz money, possibly being liable to pay for property damage, etc. Janelle explained to me that because I did add this individual to my policy as the driver of that car this does not affect my insurance rates or make me responsible for his bad decisions. Thursday she called me to let me know she just mailed a check to Mercedes AND ME! Turns out the estimated value of the car was greater than the total amount due.
Look, I wasn't looking for nor was I expecting any sort of a pay out. It doesn't equal the amount this individual owes me, but what it does do is give me a solid sense of what I can expect from my insurance were anything to ever happen to me while driving. Over the top customer service from everyone involved. Also, super bonus, today is Friday- five days since both Progressive and I were notified of this incident- and I was able to drop the jerk off my plan and his car he couldn't afford to drive. Back to my super low rates with a full coverage plan!

About three weeks ago I was in a shopping plaza parking lot and when I came back out my SUV had a huge white scratch mark on the back bumper. There was no one around so I called Progressive to report the accident. The lady took my statement and asked me several questions about me, location and damages. I asked her did I need to call the police to report the accident and she told me no because it happened in a parking lot and there were no witnesses. First mistake! Got a claim number and waited for my claim adjuster to call me.
When she called me I told her the same story I told the first lady, she went over my policy and claimed it wouldn't be any problem moving forward with fixing my vehicle. LIE! An appointment was made for me to bring my vehicle in for an estimate. Well, Dwayne ensure me it wouldn't be any problem getting my vehicle fix, gave me a pamphlet on what my options using their service or picking my own auto shop. I was thinking great after I filled out the SR-13 form. WRONG!
I was told that Brittan the adjuster would follow up with me about the estimate, she never did. I had to keep calling her and leaving messages for her and Dwayne. Well, she finally reached out to me and told me in so many words that Progressive was not going pay the claim because the damages didn't look like a vehicle had hit me. She asked me did I damage my own vehicle by scraping up against a wall or something. Also, she implied that someone maybe had access to my vehicle and I didn't know about it. I was floored. I couldn't believe that she was asking me did I damage my car. I explained over and over what happened, my story never changed. Then she told me that if I filed a claim that Progressive would only pay 12 dollars explaining the damage wasn't extensive enough. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHY AM I PAYING INSURANCE and I can't use it when I need it.
As I'm typing this out I'm getting upset all over again. Okay, Brittan told me that she would have to talk with her supervisor and Dwayne to make a final decision. Well, Dwayne called me acting as he was clueless about the whole situation, I'd hurried up and got off the phone with him. Brittan called me the next day telling me that there is no way Progressive can pay the claim because the damage doesn't going along as if a car hit my vehicle. She apologized over and over. I told her to save it and fix my car. I was told that the supervisor and Dwayne review the photos and it's not possible how the accident happened. She told me that Dwayne would follow up with me in a day or two and I told her don't bother! And I told Brittan I will be changing car insurance and thanks for nothing!

A lady hit my father's van in a grocery store parking lot while he was shopping. She was a responsible, honest person who waited for him to return to the car. In my father's presence she called Progressive Insurance agent, described accident, took pictures, gave them my father's name, address, phone number, his insurance information, make, model of his van. Everything possible. They told the lady to give my father the Progressive Insurance phone number and her policy #, and call when he got home to follow-up with a claim for repair shops in his area to contact. She wrote the information on a piece of paper for my father. When my father got home and made the call as instructed and gave the agent the policy number the agent refused to help him because he didn't have the name of the lady who hit him. The nightmare began.
My father has early stages of dementia and could not recall the kind honest lady's name. The agent refused to help him or confirm their client had called and reported the accident only an hour before. My father contacted his personal insurance company, USAA, and they too refused assistance because he had only a policy#, and no name. Supposedly it is a loophole in both companies, one cannot force another company to verify the existence of a policy holder. The kicker is, when I called the hotline number, inserted the policy number, it confirmed JANE ** had an active account, and her payments were current. AGAIN, the agents refused assistance because he had only a policy # and no name. My 85 year old father has to pay $7000 out of pocket for the repairs. An honest kind man who has never missed an insurance payment in his life.
Insurance agents REFUSE to do the right thing and acknowledge the accident was reported. My father took his damaged van to two local Progressive Insurance offices in the Kansas City area, showed the agents the hand written note of their client. They refused to confirm the policy number without a name. Insurance companies are truly a scam, and they will do anything to prevent helping people who in the heat of moment don't get all the information they need to get assistance when making an accident claim.

I have been with Progressive Insurance since I got my license in 2003, and have been using them until today, and today will be the last day. I have always been a "model" customer, meaning that I pay them on-time, has never had any accidents, and hasn't gotten any tickets in a decade so therefore never had to call them and ask them to pay for anything. I guess since I have never had to use them, I never knew how bad they are. April 2017, my husband's car was in an accident caused by a careless hit and run, the driver took off and didn't even stop so there was no way for us to find out who the other driver was. We called Progressive hoping for some assistance. The call was routed to who knows where first, and then a day later some lady called to say that she will be assisting. Never asked how my husband was. She asked us to take pictures of our car ourselves, sent the pictures to her email which she took three days to respond.
Right after the first phone call she called back right away, to tell us she will total the car (the only time she ever calls back so fast, even before we sent her the pictures). We asked her how she could make the decision so quickly even before seeing the car and the damages, no explanation and merely said "It's our policy". This lady lived about 2 hours away from where we are, was impossible to reach, and didn't seemed to care. I had to google her phone number to find an office location, and then use Google map to find a number to call, hoping it would reach her office since she doesn't not seem to like to return calls or email, guess only Flo does that hmm... No one ever came out to help; we had to do all the work. At the end to reduce headache, we took the total loss and only got $7000 for a 2008 Subaru Outback, limited edition which caused over $20000.
We get it, depreciation.... but couldn't you at least provide some better customer service?! July 2017, the car we got using the $7000 went over a curb and broke the old oil pan underneath, and I guess hit a sensor and triggered the air bag. Both airbags deployed at 15 mha. We call Progressive (what a huge regret). Once again, we were patched through a call center somewhere; we made sure they didn't assign our case to the same agent or even the same office, so they assigned us to Eugene, 2 hours away from where we live. This time our agent didn't even wait until the next phone call to tell us she is totaling the car as well. We did not have gap insurance so if we total the car we would not get anything and would still have to pay for the loan so we wanted to repair the car ourselves, out of pocket. She did not offer any assistance, just told us "Sure, I'll cancel your claim on Monday."
One week later we got an email from this lady threatening us that we need to take the car to their inspection place or they will cancel our policy. No explanation as to why this is necessary and no phone call whatsoever, come on, with the money you have taken from us, a phone call would be nice. Nothing, just an email, I guess I should be thankful she didn't send a text. We sent the car to the Toyota dealership service center and it is being repaired by a master technician at the Toyota factory. Guess what, she called and said "I will cancel your policy because you did not take your car to where I told you to take to, so we will not insurance your car anymore." Just like that... Why do I feel like I am in high school, dealing with a very jealous girlfriend, who wanted nothing but drama? Tell me why the car needs to go somewhere, if your whole purpose is to make sure the car is in "insurable condition".
I believe a master technician at a Toyota dealer service center will be just as good. But if you need to inspect the car after we repair it, explain that to me too, tell me why you need that to happen, hey, we can have a conversation and get to a common ground. I thought we are all adults here? After all, I thought Flo said Progressive give a piece of mind, then why am I so afraid to even call Progressive for anything at all? I am switching to another company as of this weekend. I will be taking my renter's insurance as well, since if this is how they deal with auto I can only imagine what they will do if anything was to happen to my apartment?! Seriously, Progressive, stop spending your money on commercials and actually on fixing your company.

I renewed my policy with Progressive back in May. I opted out of having my wife included on my policy as she has her own coverage. I paid premiums for the next two months at the rate I was quoted - $111. I checked my bank account balance today and noticed that they had withdrawn $817 from my account. I contacted them to see why they had withdrawn so much money. They told me that they had changed my policy to include my wife and if I wanted her excluded from it again, I should have filled out the appropriate documentation they claimed to have sent me. I never received any such documentation from them. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I opened a policy and intentionally excluded my wife from it and after two months they arbitrarily decided to add her onto my policy. I asked why they did this and they said it was required by the state of MA.
I have since spoken to a handful of different insurers operating in the state of MA and none, I repeat none of them have ever heard of such a law. I had them email me the documentation and they said once I had submitted it back to them, they would re-rate my policy. However, when I asked them about a refunding the money they took from me, they said there would only be a refund if they determined there was an overpayment on my part. She was covered for retroactively for the last three months with this payment. The bottom line is I shouldn't expect a refund, of any sort, because they had provided her coverage on my policy.
I'm filing a complaint with the state attorney general. This is nothing short of extortion. I can't believe this company is allowed to operate in this manner. I was actually disconnected by the customer service representative I had contacted to address this issue. I'm every possible ounce of restraint I possess not break into much more colorful, yet absolutely warranted language about this experience with this company. Suffice to say, I'm furious. This threw my monthly budget into complete disarray and all they could say was sorry for the inconvenience. I hope there are enough complaints filed against them to cause them a similar inconvenience.

So get this, I have 3 motorcycles, 1 off road vehicle and 1 RV all covered by Progressive. My garage gets robbed and a motorcycle helmet gets stoked along with brand new, in-the-box doors for my off road vehicle and a tow vehicle braking system for my off road vehicle. About $3k worth of stuff. I call homeowners insurance as I have a theft policy and they say I'm not covered because everything was a vehicle accessory. They say it's all covered by whoever covers my vehicles. Btw, that was USAA, don't use them. Anyway, I call Progressive and they say the motorcycle helmet isn't covered because it isn't a motorcycle accessory, the doors aren't covered because they weren't actually on the off road vehicle (I had just purchased them), the tow brake system isn't covered because it isn't attached to the RV.
So three policies, all paid in full when purchased, all with the top allowable coverage, yet I'm not covered based on these little nonsense details. I mean a motorcycle helmet isn't an accessory! Door that are made to be taken on and off an off road vehicle aren't covered if they're not attached to the vehicle! RV braking system isn't covered because it isn't attached to the RV. They also said that wasn't an accessory even though its only possible use is in conjunction with the RV. So, they got my money and weaseled out of paying when I got robbed. Horrible is the only way to describe Progressive. I've been a Progressive customer for 5 years. I have a perfect driving record. No tickets, never filed a claim and never missed a payment. My monthly premiums are automatically drafted from my bank account. I was stopped in traffic and hit from behind by a distracted driver. He admitted fault and was very apologetic. The police came and took statements, found the other driver to be at fault and issued a report. Unfortunately, the at-fault-driver who hit me, is also insured by Progressive. That's where the nightmare began. Being after hours, I contacted Progressive using their app with the other driver's information. I also attached a copy of the police report and photos of the damage to my vehicle. Progressive sent me an email to acknowledge receipt of the information and said that someone would contact me by phone shortly to review the information.
21 hours later, no one had contacted me. The online customer portal showed they were "still reviewing the facts and trying to determine who was at fault." Really??? I called and was told that a Representative had been assigned, but taken off of my claim (no explanation as to why). Then I'm told that they have TWO claims - one under me and a second one involving me under the other driver. They transfer me to the "newly assigned Representative" and my call went straight to voicemail. I left my cell phone number and requested a callback as soon as possible. 22 hours since the accident has been reported and my husband calls to tell me that the representative, Michelle **, has just called and left a message on the home answering machine. I never gave them my home number! I specifically gave them my cell phone to call. My cell is also the primary contact number listed in my customer profile and in the report that was filed.
I immediately called Michelle back at the number she left on our answering machine and again, it went straight to her voicemail. 30 minutes passes and I still haven't gotten a call back, so I finally called my insurance broker. Nearly 23 hours since I reported an accident where I was NOT at-fault and Progressive is obviously playing games. It's obvious Progressive considers this case a loss since the at-fault-driver is insured by Progressive. I had to get my insurance broker to call Progressive and get an agent on the phone. A third agent. Not the one who was originally assigned to me and then mysteriously removed for no reason. Not the second agent who would not return my phone calls and left a message on my home answering machine, knowing that was NOT my preferred method of contact. A third agent. If my insurance broker hadn't gotten involved, I'd still be waiting in limbo.
My vehicle suffered serious damage. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but I did require a rental car. The bottom line is, Progressive doesn't give a damn about their customers! They'll gladly take your money, but they'll leave you high and dry if you need customer service. If the at-fault-driver had been insured by State Farm, All-State, Prudential or Geico, I bet Progressive might have been more interested in making contact with me. If they knew another insurance company was paying for damages, I bet they'd call. But since it was coming out of their pocket, they could care less about me. I'm a Progressive customer who was unlucky enough to be hit by another Progressive customer. I've seen firsthand how they treat people. If this is how they treat a 5 year customer who was not at fault in an accident, I'd hate to see how they treat someone who makes a mistake!
Needless to say, as soon as my vehicle is repaired, I'm cancelling my policy with Progressive. They'll never get another dime from me. They've lost a good customer. They're obviously trained to ignore phone calls, play games and waste as much time as they can, to avoid having to payout. I recognized their b.s. right away and got my insurance broker involved. Progressive learned that not all of us will go away if they ignore us. Some of us come out swinging. My car is in the shop and I have a rental car. Progressive is paying for 100% of everything - exactly the way it should be since the other driver was at fault.
And now I'll make sure everyone knows to avoid Progressive. They should have arranged for this IMMEDIATELY, without me having to call them repeatedly and without me having to enlist the help of my insurance broker. Do your ** job, Progressive. Insure people and stop trying to avoid paying on claims that are obviously legitimate. If you can't handle that, get out of the business.

First of all, I once held a Progressive auto insurance policy in the past. A family member that was under my policy with Progressive was involved in at fault accident. I was informed they retained a lawyer and now I know why. My experience with Progressive has been not just frustrating but just flat out disappointing. On 6/27/2017 I was hit in the rear and the person was obviously at fault. I was thinking this was going to be for the most part painless because one month prior one of my cars was totaled by someone with GEICO and it was just overall a great experience.
Well let me get to the point. The car involved was a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. This car had never been in a wreck prior to this event. Two days after the wreck, I was contacted by a claim adjuster notifying I could take my car to any body shop. At this point I selected the one I have used in the past and do great work. They then informed me that they will not warranty this because they are not in their repair network. I was OK with this because this shop has great reviews and they warranty their own work for the lifetime of the car. I went ahead and took it to this shop because Progressive stated it was OK to do so.
A few days later I received a phone call from the repair shop informing me that Progressive will not pay for the OEM parts or the prep for the new bumper. I called the claim adjuster and he rudely stated that they don't have to use OEM parts and I would have to cover the difference if I would want to use the OEM parts. First thing is he didn't state anything about not covering certain type of parts and or recommended services until I challenged their decision. The shop said they would use the aftermarket parts but wouldn't recommend it and they wouldn't be able to warranty the work. The difference in parts and recommended services was only $270.
After I told the adjuster of this he said he is aware of the difference and he stated they wouldn't work with the shop. I then said well I haven't needed a rental and he can apply that money to it because it would be a wash. His response was, "You can get a rental if you want but it doesn't matter if you get a rental or not." I can truly say that he didn't care one bit about me or my concern. It truly felt like I'm the one that is at fault and should be held accountable. He wouldn't return my calls. I was very respectful and professional with him because I know you get anywhere yelling and threatening anyone. I would say this part of it has really pushed me over the edge and to drive me to spend my time to write this review.
After trying to work with his direct report I knew I was wasting my time trying to work with them both. I did wind up getting a rental and you're probably not surprised at this point when I tell you Enterprise called me not the adjuster to let me know they ended the rental before I even have my car back from the shop which it has been only 10 days of rental and they said it would be ready in two days. I called the adjuster at that point and he of course stated he couldn't and wouldn't extend it for two more days. As of right now I will have to pay out $270 of my own money for OEM parts. I know now in the future if I'm ever involved in a wreck with anyone that has Progressive, I will be retaining a lawyer and I'm not a person that sues anyone but I would be concerned how they would treat me if there were actual injuries involved. I will never give Progressive another penny of my money. Also, I wouldn't knowingly want to put anyone through this.

Let me start off by saying that these companies are all a scam in reality and the government allows it because people don't fight back. I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED BY THIS COMPANY AND WHAT THEY STAND FOR IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. First and foremost, I would like to say this because I am infuriated by what kind of people work here. So unprofessional, so bitter and so cold. As an American, I pay my bills for insurance every month without miss and on time. However, this company is the worst insurance anyone can possibly get. I got in an accident with a policy holder that has Progressive and he was at fault because he rear ended me. So that a perfect case to be not at fault and yet she still based her decision on not even reviewing carefully.
Mrs. ** didn't even want to answer her phone calls, I had to go through corporate. I'm just a college student and parent trying to get ahead of life and yet these people keep pushing middle class more into poverty. I hope one day she gets what she deserves and her conscience doesn't let her sleep at night... DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE. THE WORST SCAMMERS I HAVE EVER SEEN...

When my wife started her new job, as a rural mail carrier she had to upgrade her insurance, so as a long time customer of Progressive she called and told them the type of insurance she needed, they told her that, they had her automobile covered for delivering mail, she had full coverage and then upgraded to be able to use her vehicle as a mail vehicle, they said you are covered. Well a month later she was in an accident that was not her fault while she was on the job delivering rural mail, well she did everything right. She called her supervisor, police report, and Progressive insurance.
The police report stated she was not at fault, the USPS, stated it was not her fault. Progressive stated it was her fault and she was not covered while she delivered mail, so they lied about the coverage and didn't want to pay on a full coverage policy. Then they sent letter after letter stating they were not going to pay. They also sent harassing letters, saying we were not cooperating, by the first letter we dropped them to go get a better insurance company, and got way more coverage for less money. PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER RURAL MAIL CARRIERS. IF THEY SAY THEY DO, THEY ARE LYING TO YOU.

I took an auto insurance policy with Progressive for 6 months. I paid in full for six months that ended on 8th May 2017. Further to that I renewed the policy with monthly payment and extended for one month and I paid in advance of $160.83 for one month and I cancelled the policy upon one month completion. There is nowhere in the policy mentioned about the cancellation fee or any other extra fee to paid upon the cancellation. But I got the notice that I have to pay $58 of policy fee for cancelling the policy.
The total policy for 6 month was quoted for $50 which I paid for one month proportionately as per the calculation provided by the system. Now the provider is insisting me to pay $58 as policy fee due upon my cancellation. I asked the provider to share my declaration page where it is mentioned that I need to pay the policy fee if I cancel the policy. They said they don't have anything mentioned in the declaration page but I still need to pay it. I'm ready to pay if there is any such declaration been made by me. Hence, I refused to pay the amount. This is totally unfair billing. Please someone help me on this.

I am in my 20's, aka a young driver, and I had just bought my first "nice" car under my own name and therefore needed my own insurance. I chose Progressive because they gave me a great rate online. When I called to speak to an agent on the phone, the rate was 90$ more than it was online. I understand online quotes are not always 100% accurate, but it was a big increase. However, given I am young and the car I bought was pretty new I accepted the rate. I should've shopped around more, that was my mistake, but regardless I stuck with Progressive. The only reason they're getting 2 stars from me is because the woman who I spoke to when starting my policy was wonderful, friendly, and very informative & detailed when explaining the policies/policy options/discounts/etc. The first 2 months were fine and the rate was reasonable enough that I could afford it without issue.
A few weeks ago I got a side job babysitting alongside my full-time job and occasionally I was going to need to drive the kids in my own vehicle. I essentially had a "trial run" with the kids for a few hours to see if I was a good match, and wasn't sure if I was going to accept the job yet. I called my insurance and inquired about whether the kids would be covered under my insurance if I accepted and continued working the job. I told them that if I did, I would be driving them less than 3 hours a month (the job is 3 days every other week, and does not always involve driving, but I wanted to be on the safe side insurance-wise.) They told me I would need business insurance and I told them I would get back to them. Now, I UNDERSTAND that if there is a risk or insurance companies realize something is not covered that should be covered they can change the premium without permission.
HOWEVER, the job was not solidified and I was calling simply to ask a question. I checked my app a few minutes later and noticed my premium had increased 92$! I called my mom and asked her what to do and she told me to call them back. I did, and was connected with a woman named Brittany, who was HORRIBLE, but I'll get to that. I told her what I had told the previous agent and explained I was only inquiring about whether or not I needed additional insurance and had not accepted the job or been paid yet. She told me that she had the transcript of my previous conversation with the other agent and said "you stated that you will be driving them 4 days a week every week this summer and continuing with the same schedule into the school year."
I told her no, that's not what I said, that's what I explained to the previous agent that's what the job schedule WOULD entail if I accepted it and that it was not every week, but every other week, and did not always involve driving. She proceeded to tell me "I am bringing this to my higher up because it's interesting how in just 20 minutes' time so much of your information has changed." It was very condescending and the way she said it almost felt like a threat to me. I told her I did not realize the increase in insurance would be so high and I could not afford it so I would simply not take the job. She said I needed to get a written letter from the family saying I would not be working for them now that I had started. I told her, again, that I had not officially started and had NOT accepted any payment yet. At this point you could hear in my voice I as getting upset, but I did not yell or curse at her at all.
She said it didn't matter and "no matter what insurance or car I had I would need business insurance." I said I understood that but could not afford it. She responded, "It's ONLY an extra 50$" a month, as if she knows my financial situation. I corrected her and said it had increased 92$, not 50$. She told me they had also changed my limited tort to full tort because I did not sign the correct documents. I told her I was aware of that, I had signed and emailed the document earlier that day, and that I had the email stating I had until the 19th to do so and it was only the 13th.
She told me documents could not be accepted over email even though TWO Progressive agents had told me I could submit it that way. She ended the call by saying, "I need a number to contact you, I'm bringing this situation to my higher ups" - AGAIN, in a way that sounded like a threat. I simply replied, "Thank you, bye" and hung up without giving her any information or asking anymore questions.
So, long story short, I do NOT recommend Progressive for the following reasons: They give highly inaccurate online quotes. If you ask a question you will be given different answers by representatives. The fact that 2 reps told me I could submit documents via email and then the 3rd told me I could not proves that. Obviously they are not training their staff correctly if they are giving different answers to the same question(s). Their "due dates" for documents are inaccurate. I was told I had until the 19th to submit my document but my premium was raised 6 days earlier. They changed the primary use of my vehicle from "commute" to "business" for simply ASKING A QUESTION about a possible job.
I cannot speak for all of their representatives, because like I said, the first agent I spoke to was wonderful and very helpful and a few other reps I spoke to were fine, but the fact that people like Brittany are employed there (she was part of the underwriting department, btw, so in a higher position than a regular customer service rep) and thinks it's okay to speak to customers the way she spoke to me is completely unacceptable. Without a doubt I am canceling my policy and switching auto insurance ASAP. Don't waste your time with Progressive.

We have been loyal Progressive customers for over two years now. My wife lives in a different city for work so she has to buy her own insurance, which is again through Progressive. Between the two of us, we must have paid progressive close to $8000. We always bought the best possible coverage so that we have peace of mind. We have had to use our insurance once in the past two years, about a month ago when a raccoon ran in front of my car. That is the only claim that we ever filed, Progressive paid $1600 towards the repair.
This morning I received a "policy nonrenewal notice," when I called Progressive they told me that they were dropping me as customer because I had 4 major claims in the past 36 months. I was confused and didn't understand how that was possible, the Progressive representative then informed me that I had requested for roadside assistance three times this year. Two flat tires in the winter and a dead battery. I then asked, "Isn't that why I bought roadside assistance in the first place?" She told me they process all roadside assistance requests as claims and that I can no longer renew my policy this year. I am being dropped for using a service that I paid for in full, the way it was meant to be used. So Progressive will take my money as long as they don't have a to lift a finger to provide me a service in return. I know people who have DUIs and their insurance providers didn't drop them.
Points to note: Nobody ever informed me that a request for roadside assistance is considered a major claim, not even after the 3rd time. (I am sure it is written in fine print somewhere in the terms and conditions). If roadside assistance requests are processed as claims, then why are they not visible on my online account? (My online account still shows only one claim). They provided roadside assistance in downtown Kansas City, not in the middle of nowhere. The Progressive mobile app in fact comes with 3 options for roadside assistance, 1 flat tire, 2 dead battery, 3 need a tow. We are now moving to GIECO with a better coverage at a much cheaper price. Will never ever buy any product from Progressive ever again.

Every ** 2 months raising my rates despite no claims or tickets. I am looking for a way to sue them, I have recorded their reasons stated upon telephone for raising my rates and the state's insurance commissioner has proven to me that their reasons are lame and without cause. The state insurance regulator has told me that in my state in the last 5 years there has been a 13% decrease in auto accidents statewide so Progressive is lying that more claims have been the cause of rate hikes. So, am I paying for accidents of people in other states or am I paying for the barrage of tv ads?

I'm not usually one to write reviews. I read them but I don't usually write them. However this experience with Progressive has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I want to warn everyone as others have before NOT TO EVER EVER GET PROGRESSIVE. In February or March my husband was driving home during an ice storm. While driving a tree branch had broken off of a tree which was overhanging on the road and hit the car in front of him and our car. The damage was over $1500 but luckily my husband was ok. We filed a claim with our insurance company (progressive) and they took the car in, assessed it, fixed it and we were on our way. Last month I noticed that they were now charging us $261 a month for two vehicles instead of the $180 we were paying before. The difference isn't as large as some people have written here but still it's $80 a month every month and we live on a tight budget as it is.
The worst part is that they didn't contact us at all, not in writing, not through email, not by telephone to inform us of these changes. They just simply started withdrawing the extra funds out of our account. Additionally when my husband called they told him that because he was in an accident our premiums would go up... EXCUSE ME... not only was there no other vehicle involved. It's not as though he hit a tree or hit a pole. Due to severe weather a tree limb had done damage to the car while he was driving home from work. Apparently it didn't matter. The rep was condescending and told him that was in our contract. Also as others have mentioned before accident forgiveness is only on accidents below $500... TERRIBLE scamming company. We are dropping them immediately.

I have had no accidents, no claims, no tickets or any brush with the law. Little that I know Progressive couldn't care less. They offered me a renewal, six month later which was a whopping SIXTY percent up, from the original quote. Suddenly the premium went to $770, up from $480. There was no reason for it, no violations. My credit score is over 800. I called them and they told me "this was in your contract that you signed". How rude and obnoxious. Oh, and that Snapshot thing alone jacked up the premium by 10% because... I was doing "hard brakes".
Um. I guess there was nothing to pick on so they've picked on my braking. [eye roll] Anyway - I'm dropping them and I'll never believe any of their advertising. We purchase insurance for our 2017 Trike. We purchased an annual premium over the phone at the dealership the day of purchase. Paid with a debit card and signed all documents electronically. Two months later we get a bill for $377.00 more which is about 85% of the original premium. When we called and ask why we received the bill our rep said that we did not want uninsured motorist that we opted out at the time of purchase and they had added it back into our policy because we didn't sign the necessary paperwork, that we signed the day of purchase, ie the day they took our money/premium. She said if we signed the paperwork we would owe some of the premium because we had already used some of the insurance that we had opted out of to begin with. So she wanted me to sign papers saying we opted out of something we didn't want that they had added back to the policy and charged us for. WHEWWW does that make sense. NO.
Long story short. When we were purchasing the insurance that day she insured us that it was a normal insurance policy, FULL COVERAGE, there was nothing explained to us about opting out of uninsured motorist. She claims there was, so it's my word against hers. However I am in the process of dropping their insurance and have already taken out insurance where I have my home and autos. The rate was substantially lower also. That's going to be another issue to see if I am reimbursed for any unused premium.

Switching over my policy was easy, though I was not impressed with the switch charge they sprinkled on to my next few months of payments, even though I was told I would see no difference when I was on the phone with them a week prior to my trade in to ask if everything was going to switch over smoothly. I received emails that my documents successfully reflected my new vehicle and I was sure that all was well. I have the progressive app, and that is what I use to pay my bill, I don't check on it often, as I didn’t feel expected to except for my paying my bill.
On Saturday July 8 I went on my app to pay, even though I'm due on the 23, I had the means to pay early when suddenly I see that my policy had been canceled that day! Immediately, I am confused and go to my email to see if I had missed multiple cancellation emails, but I did not. Clicking on my canceled policy on the progressive app redirected me to their website where I had to click through a few links to find my documents section where progressive had sent cancellation notices, but in a pdf format and only to my progressive account. Even my app did not notify me of these received documents.
I called customer service on Saturday July 8 and was told, yes, your policy was canceled due to an underwriting issue, my confusion to which she responds, well we sent out the notifications on the 23 and 27 of June I'll have to connect you to that department. Well that department has weekends off, so here I am on Monday July 10, two days without insurance, calling the underwriting team and I connect to a lady and recount her, all we wanted was a phone call to verify details on the policy change. I explain that it took me until being canceled to even realize that they sent these notifications, to which she replies that they will not renew my policy and I will have to purchase a new one through the sales department IF they choose to sell to me again.
I have only been a customer since May, I have paid before my due date each time, and I'm getting canceled because I didn't call them when I had no idea I had to?! Ok so we thought it would be safe to leave our vehicle in a parking garage at a casino, when we had a family emergency of a grandmother on hospice and wanted to make it down to sit by her side. So leaving a Friday night we didn't return until that Sunday night to retrieve the vehicle. Noticing that it was not there we immediately went into the casino and asked if it was towed, they said they don't do that, so they reviewed the videos and seen someone break in and take the vehicle in the afternoon of that Sunday. Reporting the vehicle stolen and telling Progressive was the easy part, then the vehicle was recovered by the fire department and police since someone set arson to it.
They started to incriminate us about everything which ok I get it, cover the basis. So I provided everything they asked and was told that was all we needed multiple times. Calling to find out what was going on with the claim, since no one was calling us to update me or emailing me back and then I was asked for more information. They had given us a amount and forgot some items that we installed to the vehicle and after that was when things seemed to turn sour for us. So we are looking at May 21, 2017 the truck was stolen and found May 23rd or 24th. A total loss and still nothing but, "Well we are investigating this and now we need a court subpoena to get phone tower records" (keep in mind they already have this information on the phone bill that shows which tower the calls came from or at least which city, also which in this case shows them everything that we told them).
Bottom line is that now it seems like they only want to make thing worst since I got frustrated with them because they are dragging us through the mud and making us look like criminals. I had a fully paid off good vehicle and now nothing because they are overpaid and don't want to put out the claim. I feel treated so unfairly and they keep saying, "No. It's not a runaround and it's not incriminating you". Bull. Don't trust this company. Now they want me to drive 200 miles to have myself and my mother sign a notarized form for them to court order my phone records. It is bad enough we had to sit next to someone die and then come home to our vehicle taken and then destroyed and have them treat us like this and push it off like they have. It has been just one thing after another, and another. They can't keep their stories straight between the investigator and the claims adjuster.
I would stay far away from this company, there are plenty of companies that can beat the rates, and way better customer service. So just ask yourself because you never know if some dumb person is going to take your property and destroy it, do you want to lose out on what you put hard work to having or do you want to work with and invest into a company that will help you and actually look at the facts and complete your claim in a timely manner? The claim adjuster stated that the driver sent in pics of her car and she didn't have any damage. So my claim was denied. Well, I found car and took pics and showed them that she had hit my car.
The claim adjuster said that she contacted lady and wasn't able to get in contact with her. Not to mention, I was told that I could take her to small claim court. However, when I asked for her contact information, she did not give me information. I have been stressed dealing with issue, I’m not getting anywhere. The claim adjuster stated that she couldn't make her admit to being involved in an accident. I keep getting the run around and I am sick of it. The accident happened in April and still May 4, car is not repaired. She has Progressive Insurance too...

What I learned the hard way is Progressive Insurance doesn't hold their policyholders accountable for their actions. Even when they take 11 days to report an auto accident that caused 5100 dollars in damage to my property. I'm currently going against a 60/40 liability split in a situation that I'm not liable in at all, the unlicensed driver they are defending has given mixed statements about the accident to the police and even went to the extent to switch the story completely when Progressive finally gets in contact with her on the phone 11 days later. The 27 year old unlicensed driver that they are refusing to hold 100% accountable for crashing into my car while making an illegal U turn has been neglecting the situation even though I reported it to her insurance and mine the very same day it happened (6/15/2017).
The police report clearly pokes holes in the policyholder's phone statement but my rep Jasmine ** (Yonkers, NY) and her supervisor Amber are doing everything they can to avoid covering the full costs that their driver caused. The supervisor doesn't return phone calls and is very evasive, whenever I ask to speak to her she's either in a meeting or conference call. But when I leave her messages she doesn't return calls even though her voicemail states that if you call before a certain time she will call you back by the end of the day.
Jasmine even disrespected me by saying I'm partially liable because I could have avoided the accident if I would have maneuvered out of the way... The accident was unavoidable because their policyholder drove bumper first into the side of my car as I was going by. The damage to the policyholder's car was all on the front bumper but for some reason Jasmine says I sideswiped their policyholder and I'm partially at fault for not avoiding her. Are you serious?
Now, if a police report says your driver struck my vehicle with the "front" of hers causing damage to the "side" of mine how is it a side swipe? Sounds like an illegal U turn gone wrong to me. I mean her car was facing North on the Southbound side of the road we were on after she hit my car. How does your car go from facing south to north and you're merging into southbound traffic? Even the damage indicator on the police report shows that her vehicle was only damaged in the front bumper which is point "2".
If your policyholder says to the police officer on 6/15/17 that she didn't see me coming while she was merging into traffic (it's in the report) how do you believe her when she gets on the phone 11 days later and says, "He switched into the right lane while I was merging into traffic". You go from stating that "You didn't see my car coming to I saw the car switch lanes..." But I guess you can lie your way out of anything and avoid reporting an incident for 10 days with no problem if you're with Progressive. More like Regressive, I'm disgusted with the way they are handling this case and will take whatever action necessary to make sure something is done about it.

So first off it took three months to handle my claim, I got hit by one of their insurers, almost ran me off the road!!! These people gave me the run around and told me lies over and over again. Would never return my phone calls or emails and when she finally did she denied my claim. I proceeded to tell her I would take further legal action so she decided to call back and tell me it got accepted and gave me an estimate for getting my vehicle fixed. Ok cool, waiting and waiting again so I call and email over and over again waiting for my next step for her to email me back weeks later to deny me again???!!! Like wth??? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PROGRESSIVE TO ANYONE!!! They are a bunch of **!!! They really don't care, feed you a bunch of lies and it's not fair! All I wanted was my damages fixed! Anytime I need to contact them I get through to someone right away, by phone or their webchat. From small items like adding drivers, or bigger stuff - like when a rock cracked my windshield, they are helpful and efficient. I've had nothing but good experiences with them. On the morning of December 10 2016, Day 1, a motorist got drunk, trespassed on private property to start a fight with his girlfriend, fled in his vehicle after she called 911, collided with a stop sign, then collided with my parked car a few miles later, a 98 Chrysler Cirrus lx worth about 4000 dollars. I was awoken by my local police department with the bad news. They ask me to come look at my damaged car and to provide information for the police report. Fortunately I live in a very small town, and the police tracked down the perpetrator a few hours later, and cited him for hit and run along with the other charges mentioned above. He was so drunk, he could not even remember what he hit, although he remembered hitting something.
Having no credit card and a lousy unhelpful insurance company, I was forced to walk to work for the next 2 weeks. I saved every dime, and purchased a $1716.55 chevy cavalier in poor condition to just get around in until things became settled. It was a good decision considering Progressive never did call me to begin reparations.
I called the police on day 40, and was able to obtain the police report. The troubles began quickly, as Progressive agents do not answer their phones. I leave a detailed message, including the times to reach me. I would not get a call back within this time range until day 52. The adjuster told me to get the car repaired, but I insisted it was totaled, and that was wasting yet more of my money. They reluctantly send an estimator to look at my vehicle who agreed it was totaled. They offered me a very low value for my car, and denied any responsibility to provide me with a refund for the beater car I purchased to continue my life for the 52 days after the original incident.
On day 53, the case against the perpetrator went to court, and he was found guilty of the three violations. The drunk driving charge could not be pressed since he had exited his vehicle prior to the police involvement. Sadly, there was nothing the courts could do for me specifically. I have since tried numerous times to talk with Progressive reasonably, only to be shut down without any type of explanation. The old 'Take it or leave it'.
After I refused their initial offer, the claim adjuster became very rude, so I asked for a different adjuster, and was told no. I asked to speak with the claim adjusters supervisor, and this person was even ruder, openly laughing at me and mocking me for my predicament. I then spoke with the claims manager, who was very professional, but also refused to negotiate. At this point, I asked for ceasement of telephone calls from the adjuster. This also has been ignored, as I still get phone calls from the adjuster trying to pressure me into accepting their lousy deal. They would not even agree to remove the totaled car unless I agreed to their settlement. It was only after my township's police department got involved on my behalf and threatened to have the car towed and impounded that they came and removed the destroyed car.
I have contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, but was told there is nothing they can do for me since be it a good offer or bad offer, they have made an offer. They advised me to refuse it and take them to court. It is now day 200, and this matter has yet to be settled. I just called the claims manager again who indicated their position regarding negotiation has not changed. I am going to have to sue them in court for what I feel I am owed, which is more lawyer fees that I have to save up for.
I had nothing to do with any of this, but now I have had to foot ~1700 dollars for the beater car plus ~2800 dollars for my new long term vehicle, plus now saving money to get a lawyer, and there is also the late fees associated with having to foot all that money has caused me, and the stress of just struggling to get by without that money. Progressive, you stink. There needs to be an option to give you a zero. 1 star is far too much.

I have been with Progressive for many years now and my driving record has been absolutely spotless for the duration. Spotless for at least the last 10 years. Zero tickets, zero accidents, zero claims of any kind. About a year ago, I received a minor ticket ($60) for an illegal right turn. Issuing officer indicated the points should not reflect on my policy as it was not a safety violation, just a simple mistake (I didn't see the sign). Then recently, I was involved in a very minor accident. Less than $5k damages between the two vehicles involved. The accident was my fault. It was also a very low impact accident, about 5mph, no airbag deployment and no injury to either party involved. I filed the claim and had almost zero correspondence with Progressive. Non returned phone calls, phone calls with conflicting information (like where my car actually ended up for repairs).
My policy was up for renewal the following month. Keep in mind, until this point my record was SPOTLESS. I went online to print my new insurance I.D. card and noticed they had DOUBLED my premium!! I thought it was an error, so I called and was met with the most condescending, unprofessional customer service rep. He accused me of not reading the notice they sent out, which at that point I had not yet received. Then proceeded to tell me that my premium WAS in fact going to double due to this incident. I've paid into my policy for YEARS without so much as needing a tow. I get in my first accident in almost 10 years and my premium jumped from $167/mo. to almost $350/mo.!! WTF?! I was told that my safe driver discount didn't come into play at all... Apparently I am no longer a safe driver in their eyes.
I've paid thousands of dollars to my policy and then when it is time for them to hold up their side of the deal by paying for the repairs, they stick it to me again my doubling my rate on top of the deductible that I paid. I thought "Surely this was illegal". Guess not. Also, my policy has small accident forgiveness which I asked about and was told that small accident is anything $500 or less. Really?! Pretty sure it's next to impossible to get into any accident that causes less than $500 in damage. Labor alone would eat that up in a heartbeat. At any rate, I think their policy terminology is very misleading and even though they consider you a silver, gold or platinum member of their "Loyalty Club", there is ZERO loyalty on their part. Bottom line, they will fix your car, but the communication will be terrible and misleading and your premium will go up so high that most people in my income bracket (low-middle) won't be able to pay for it.
Unless you like Ramen. If that's the case then MAYBE you can have insurance through Progressive and still be able to eat. I could understand if I'd had multiple claims or infractions, but my record was pristine. Just be very wary of them. It all sounds good up front but when it comes time for them to do what we've been paying for, they will stick it to you and not look back. Terrible, TERRIBLE company. Please do yourself a favor and just buy your insurance someplace (any place) else. You'll thank me later. I promise. They're thieves. No regard for human condition whatsoever and they don't back up their claims. It'll all fall on you and it'll hurt.

On May 4th, I got on Progressive's website to figure out how to change our automobile policy. My husband and I had purchased a new (to us) car (2014 Ford Edge) and sold his old car (2008 Hyundai Sonata). I activated the live chat and asked the representative what I needed to do to replace the car on our policy. The representative, instead of suggesting I call to make the changes (something that a later representative told me I should have done - basically some "learn your lesson" advice), directed me to a particular place on the website.
I followed the instructions and proceeded through the process. Apparently, during the process, I did not add collision coverage (something that was on the 2008 Hyundai and is currently on the other two vehicles on the policy - a 2008 Ford Focus and a 2003 Ford Explorer). This was unintentional, as I did not even know this was a mistake I could make. After I made the changes, I followed up with an agent online to confirm the new payment amounts. Again, no mention of collision coverage was made.
On June 15th, we had a minor collision issue with tire tread on I-95. We called to make a claim. I spoke with three representatives that day. All explained, much to my surprise, that collision coverage was not on our policy for the 2014 Ford Edge, and all also stated that they found that extremely strange because it was on the old vehicle and the two other vehicles. We left the conversation that day with the promise they would look into the matter. Neither I, nor they, at that point knew what was going on. Everyone was confused by what the policy was showing.
The following day - could have been two days - a representative called me and told me they would not be offering coverage. As I had made the changes online and not on the phone (as directed by one of their agents) and not selected collision coverage, the vehicle would not be covered. Today, the conversation continues as I talk with yet another employee's supervisor.
In the midst of all this, after arguing about collision coverage, no one offered to add it to the policy. So, on June 21 when my husband and I went to drive home, he asked the question "so do we have collision coverage now?" Surely, after the calls and arguments over not having it they had added it, but to be safe I called to find out. Turned out that no - we still did not - and no one thought it would be important to direct us through the process to add the coverage. The agent I spoke with at that time tried to tell me the coverage would not go into effect for 5 days. I warned her that if something happened, we would be having a very different conversation.
As I continue to argue with Progressive about this issue, my thoughts are as follows. Though we were, at one time, pleased with the service we received at Progressive, it is clear that Progressive is going the route of so many large companies, favoring quality and speed in their service rather than taking the time to talk to and truly engage in customer care. At one point during my conversations with representatives, someone advised me to always call and to not do anything online. Another representative told me that it was too much to ask that a someone follow up with clients on policy changes made online.
Despite the fact that the actions I took were at the advice of one of their agents, they have taken great care to hang this entire conflict on the unintentional clerical error I made. As a customer, it saddens me to see companies no longer work with clients to rectify situations. As someone who has worked in sales and business, it shocks me to see a company as large as Progressive choose to win such a small battle in lieu of caring for and keeping a long term client.

You know our address from the file and the adjuster does not take that into consideration? We had to call continually and fight to get the proper replacement parts, matching existing. The relationship that insurance companies want to have is with the repair facilities so they can influence the repair costs!!! Terrible that we can't all have character and do what is right regardless of cost!!! Progressive Adjuster then lies and says the vehicle is ready when it was not!!! 2 days without a vehicle because we dropped off the rental on the way to pick up a car that was not finished!!!
You get what you pay for and Progressive is cheap for the wrong reasons. They will not cover what they need, provide sub par customer service, and employee people who will provide false information, while putting back sub par parts in the repair process, not restoring you to pre-loss condition!!! Buyer beware, and the insurance companies complain it is the litigious society while in fact they are in part to blame!!!

I called immediately afterward and was told an adjuster would be out to evaluate the damage on my vehicle on July 3rd. That is almost three weeks from the date of the incident. Since my vehicle is not operational due to a badly broken windshield, I will be without the use of it for at least a month since the incident.
For five years, I had not made one single claim until last month when a big raccoon ran out in front of me on the highway and damaged my bumper and lower grill. The total bill was $1600. Of that, I was responsible for two thirds because of my deductible. For those five years, they gladly took my money for providing coverage that I never used until last month for the first time. Now, they pull this number of making me wait (according to them, a Diamond Level customer) for at least a month to use my car again. I began searching 2 weeks before my old policy ended and found that Progressive had a better price quote for my vehicle. I went ahead and purchased the new policy with Progressive 12 days before the other policy ended. Those 12 days are now my penalty with Progressive! I had Progressive insurance for over a dozen years (Emerald status) and my wife also had insurance on her company vehicles for several years. We have both had significant problems and I would not recommend Progressive to anyone and will furthermore go out of my way to warn my friends and relatives to avoid using them.
My wife had insurance on two buses and a minivan that were used in her daycare business. Never had a claim on any of them and whenever she sold the minivan she called to drop the insurance on minivan. Later, one of her drivers had an accident in one of the buses and whenever she went to report the claim, the Progressive representative told her that she had verbally cancelled the insurance on the buses too. My wife challenged this allegation and was told the money had been refunded to her account, but if you have a business with literally hundreds of payments a month, overlooking a small refund of this nature is easy to do. She was told that they had the call recorded and whenever she requested to hear it, she was told it was unavailable.
In any event, the claim was not paid and fell upon her business to an amount in excess of $28,000. She was very upset and wanted me to cancel the coverage I had too, but since I had never had a claim, I had never had a problem. Funny how that works with an insurance company, or at least Progressive. In 2016 there were several claims under the policy I had, one because a window glass was broken, one because one of the cars was flooded and one caused by a collision (other driver at fault but uninsured). My policy rate at the end of the term was significantly increased and I elected to go to another insurance company. As it turns out, Progressive had increased my rate on the previous six months coverage because they added another driver (my stepdaughter) to the policy without ever speaking with me for if I would have known this, I would have told them she would not be allowed to drive the car anymore.
So, when I called with the dispute, they basically said, "Tough, we sent you an email" and then they turned the account over to collection. So now, as I pay the collection company almost $500, after probably paying them close to $40,000 over the years, I truly feel that they should be paying me (or my wife) $28,000 instead. In addition, whenever I had the claim for the car being flooded, it was my wife and I who had to take the car to a garage, and then to another garage to have it checked, then there were some other stupid deductions from the payment (to my daughter, the owner of the car). If we billed Progressive at our normal billing rates for the time it took us to get the claim paid, Progressive would owe us an additional $1,200, and yet, it is me that is paying. My statement to anyone considering Progressive is, use them only if you expect to never have a claim!!!

When I complained she said she would have to transfer me to someone who was licensed... Who was I speaking to now? I asked her about the process for cancelling my policy and she said I would at anytime and receive a prorated refund.
I called back a second time and spoke to another rep who reiterated that. I went ahead and cancelled my policy. She didn't even care to ask why I was. My refund comes and it's super low considering I had just made a payment. Turns out there is a $50 charge for an early cancel. Contacting Progressive their customer service doesn't seem to think it's a problem that no one mentioned this as it is listed in the contract I signed with them. I asked for the evidence and they didn't have anything that would support her claim and disprove my son. I would've even settled with equal liability! I am so done with this insurance company. I am going to switch to a company that actually backs up its clients. And I will be switching my homeowners and boat insurance, too. Oh, and BTW, NO APPEAL PROCESS. Whatever bogus conclusion they come to, you are stuck with. Good luck if you choose this company, you're gonna need it.

I recently purchased a 2014 Toyota Sienna. Within two weeks of purchasing my new vehicle my van was vandalized in front of my home. I had 3 out of the 6 windows busted out by what the police said a BB gun. This happened two months ago. My vehicle just got returned to me yesterday and they gave my vehicle back with an aftermarket bumper when my vehicle had a factory bumper. Long story short we still haven't heard back from our agent, and now I get an email saying that I was dropped from my policy. My automatic deduction for the current month was cancelled. I will never recommend Progressive Insurance to anyone! They do not take care of their customers. And from reading the all the reviews, I am not the only one! #FakeInsurance #Liars

So for the past almost 3 days I have been broke down on US 26 in Oregon (MP22.5). My steering failed. I need a tow of which 55 miles I have to pay out-of-pocket. I have full coverage and towing through Progressive Insurance. I have been on the phone since 8am PDT today. I have talked with Progressive Towing more than 10 times today. My only accomplishment in each call was either to begin a NEW CALL or CANCEL the call.
So one must wonder why would I cancel a call I just placed? Well, here's why: Once you finally get to a call taker, and then go through about 12 minutes of questions comes MY OPPORTUNITY to pay over-mileage at $2.00 per mile (a very reasonable price). But, there is a catch. If the call-taker has to leave the line to check on something or whatever, when they come back on the phone the over-mileage rate is $5.00 per mile. And, when you ask about the $2 rate? The response is "that was only a one-time-offer." The $2 is by card, but if you have to call back or they leave the line, bend over folks, it's $5 per mile and you have to pay the towing company rather than paying Progressive on their one-time offer. Thanks Progressive, with my full coverage and all, for leaving me on the side-of-the-road, 27 miles from the nearest town, running out of food, fuel, water. I have a 24ft Motor Home, as I enter Day 3 - Waiting for Progressive.

They LOVE to cash checks, but they HATE to issue checks. It is so easy and tempting to enroll as a client, but once they have your money, they are DONE with you. I've dealt with a lot of customer service departments over the years: Progressive Insurance's customer service department is a sick joke. They have one prescribed answer to give. They don't listen to their clients and, worse of all, NOBODY at Progressive cares anything about the client and reasonable needs. They give their routine answers about "This is how we do it and there will be no change."
They are not Progressive at all; they are Regressive! These unprofessional people are pathetic. I bet every single one of them hates the company they work for. DO NOT fall for their sales pitch. You WILL regret it. I'm taking my money, my cars, my home, and my life and running back to rational, professional companies as fast as I can. I rue the day I gave "Regressive Insurance" a try. Thank God I didn't have to file a claim during the short (long-seeming) time I dealt with these unprofessional robots. I regret that I had to give them one star... they have earned a solid ZERO stars.

My experience with Progressive has been horrific and emotionally draining. I was hit by one of their insured's on 5/24/17 resulting in physical damage to my vehicle. The adjuster for Progressive over inflated the estimate and wanted to total the vehicle. However, they added repairs to the estimate unrelated to the accident and damages to the vehicle that did not exist. The reason for the review is to inform consumers that Progressive will inflate and falsify an estimate to prevent them from paying to repair a vehicle.

Think of it, FOUR vehicles for over SIX HUNDRED per month! Awful HIGH! My neighbor went to a new company and received much less and she is asking me if I should change. Another insurance company offered me $100 less, but due to relationships, I will not use that company.

I was given a quote online. I am using a VA loan and I needed to be sure certain things were included so I called to follow up. They asked me the age of the roof of the home. I told them what I was told by the seller but said I have no way to verify this. They told me that if I accept their quote and their inspector came after the fact and decided the roof was older than they liked then they would increase my insurance premium even if I had already started paying the original premiums. I asked how I could possible verify the age of the roof and they said it didn't matter. That this was just their policy. Then they said if I thought this was unfair they would refer me to someone else. How can anyone verify the age of their roof without a receipt? I said I am looking for help for some kind of solution to this and they told me all they can do is refer me to some other vendor. By the way, the roof is fine but Progressive will never be insuring this or any other thing for me.

I have been a customer over 10 years and I have had 2 claims. The weather gave us a hail storm and got damage all over my vehicle, they replaced my hood and fixed everything else. It was done within a week and I was very pleased. The other claim was I had just purchased a new Mustang and while it was parked at work an elderly person backed into it and drive off. Fortunately I work with law enforcement and we got the plates via video. I called Progressive and sent the info and a copy of video. The next day the adjuster set up for my vehicle to be repaired, two days later I was in my car. The person that hit me was also insured by Progressive so they contacted them and they paid the claim.

The agent was a poor communicator and did not make me aware of the effect that they would only continue my previous policy that had a week left before payment was due. When I received notice of payment due I contacted customer service to ensure I in fact had coverage (this call was recorded). They confirmed all was good. A few days later my coverage lapsed and I was hit by another driver. Their incompetence and misinformation caused me to pay for the accident out of pocket. STAY AWAY. I today attempted to cancel my policy but they refused to cancel it and provide any cancellation in writing and instead informed me that by law they keep the policy open for 90 days in case the driver changes their mind for coverage. I stated I absolutely will never use them in the future.

I submitted a quote online which was easy to do, however the very first question they ask is, "Is your vehicle financed?" which I replied, "Yes." This would lead anyone to believe that you would be getting additional coverage over basic liability, I submitted my driving record and information regarding my driving history. I submitted it and was surprised at the savings, I even called a representative to confirm it was correct. The Rep, or "insurance agent" said, “As long as you (me not being an insurance agent) put all of the information in correctly then yes that is the correct premium.” I buy the insurance and I'm happily driving around with my two new cars and two kids thinking that we're covered with full coverage.
Well I get into an accident and I find out that I only have liability and property and they even laugh at me on the phone when I explain how this all happened. I would never recommend them even if they were the best price for FULL COVERAGE simply due to their customer service and absolute disregard for paying customers well-being. They would sacrifice someone’s safety, well-being, career and life to get a monthly payment out of them regardless of how shady they have to be to do it!

That is, to understand what is being communicated so that the caller does not get passed from one person to another. My experience with Progressive has been pleasant. They've changed it on the policy and they are now blaming me for it, telling me I've lied about my age. Why would I add 13 years on top of myself? How stupid is that? I had a car accident on the 12th of April. It's now May. CLAIM consultant is investigating my scene. I've paid full comprehensive and had an accident just like a thousand other people do. 10.40pm on the 12th of April is when I had this accident. Is she allowed to investigate me? Yes I believe so. But why?
I got drug and alcohol tested on the scene of the accident and I've sent her through the fine from the police. Shes now asked me for THREE months worth of bank statements and THREE months worth of PHONE records, FROM the 12th and 13th of April LISTING who I spoke to, the reason and time of the calls and texts. I had rang her and told her that would have taken me way too long so if she had any problem give me a call and I will reason those calls with her. IS she allowed to ask for three months worth of phone records. I've never heard of any car insurance company ask for such past history information. Has nothing to do with the accident time. PLEASE HELP. She's taken almost 2 months to finalise my claim. I've been honest about everything and I think this is just not fair.

I got a letter from Amica stating that it was only one claim that they were reading it wrong. They jacked my rates for three years until it dropped off. Then I was out of the country with work. My insurance lapsed by 14 hours and they tripled my rate. Then just today after another three years my rates went down. I get a notice out of the blue that my insurance went from 247$ mo. on tow vehicles to 450 next month to 555 the next and 387 the next. What friggin' magic calculator do these people have, I called. Their excuse "WE TRIED TO RUN YOUR WIFE'S DMV RECORD AND THERE WAS NONE FOUND. SO WE ARE SURCHARGING YOU."
My wife has been listed on the policy but as a non driver for three years as she has no license. They know this. They asked this. THEY KNOW SHE DOESN'T DRIVE. HOW THE HECK DO INSURANCE COMPANIES GET AWAY WITH IT. The other thing is that they are paying pennies on the dollar for what claims are worth, they wouldn't pay any repairs on my stolen vehicle and claimed it was wear and tear and age. It was a month old and under warranty. Told me to have the warranty cover it. Then recently had a fender bender. They quoted a bunch of junkyard parts and estimated 4700 less than the body shop. Any advice. Where does it stop.
