It's easy to sign up with Progressive, they have all the documentation available online, provided a good price for the service I requested, and are there for me if I have any questions or concerns.

My policy was almost cancelled due to the fact that I never received the bill through the mail and never received an email. I spoke to a customer service representative and they very easily reinstated my insurance with no problem at all over the phone. I was very relieved, because the laws in my state are very expensive if my policy gets cancelled.

I have had one wreck that was not my fault. The insurance company took care of me and my needs. It was not a process that was too difficult for me to handle. They were alright when I had to deal with them. In the end my claim was taken care of. But customer service could've been a bit more trained to deal with people and certain situations.

Four years ago my local insurance provider had greatly raised my rates so I decided to switch to Progressive. And like many people I found out about Progressive through those Flo commercials. I'm still happy with them and I've only had one minor issue and they were really good and took care of my issue. My rates did not go up after the claim which made me very happy.

It is very simple to sign up for an account and to pay. The end of December I had a wreck on a cross-country trip, and they were so kind and helpful all the way through the process - even calling to see if I was satisfied or needed help along the way. I hit a deer in March - less than 3 months after getting my car repaired, and had to go through the process again. They were very helpful in finding the perfect place for me to get my car fixed.

I have never had an issue with them, but I do not like how my rates seem to go up a few dollars every month. I have no tickets or accidents/any claims of any kind but every time I renew my policy my rate has increased by $3-5 a month. Those little things add up.

I moved to Progressive initially when I discovered I could knock a pretty sizable chunk of cost off of my bill that I had through Esurance. Since then, Progressive has been great. They've been very responsive and focused on me when I've had to call with questions regarding my plan, bill, and address. Thankfully, I haven't needed to file a claim yet, but I have no doubt, based on the tools available to me, that the process would be seamless and easy to complete. Overall, I see no reason why I'd want to leave in the future.

Everyone I've ever managed to talk to in their company is extremely helpful and will do their best to guide you in the right direction and provide you with all the tools and resources to make concrete decisions. You can't really go wrong with Progressive.

So my car was stolen and stripped. Then the sheriff's department found it and I had called Progressive to file a claim. They were completely out to get me from the very beginning making me track down and find receipts for everything that was stolen. They wanted me to provide pictures too. So I did and then they said I was trying to DEFRAUD them about my stereo which was not true. They were lying and DENIED my claim in its entirety. I tried to seek legal help but no attorney was willing to help because it wasn't a personal injury case. Progressive insurance are criminals and have DEFRAUDED thousands of people on these reviews. Do not use Progressive Insurance. They will screw you over. Just like they did me.

This insurance failed to pay and guide me through a uninsured and underinsured claim. I was rear-ended by a uninsured motorist August 4, 2018. When I reported the claim I was told I only had body injury coverage and my car would not be covered because I didn't have property damage coverage. I was appalled by that answer. I never heard of that kind of coverage. Nor did I sign up for that coverage online. I made sure to have uninsured and underinsured cover because I can only get Liability on my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with only 109,00 miles which was a gift from my mother was covered. I have a copy of my insurance quote. This was proof I sign up for both and nobody at Progressive seem to care. Someone revised my quote and it 20.00 more. I didn't think nothing about it until I was denied coverage.
The funny thing I was not notify of the change and to be not cover by property damage. I didn't sign a waiver stating I didn't want property damage for that the main reason for uninsured motorist coverage. What a sneaky trick. BE CAREFUL when getting a insurance quote. Then to top it off this being my first accident. I didn't know what to do next. I do no one thing. I get punished for following g the law. I lose out on Coverage for my car. The DMV gives me a point on my record for a accident clearly not my fault. Then my insurance go up from 89.00 a month to 114.00 month. Which my insurance shouldn't go up unless I was 50% at fault.
I thought California Law was to protect me from such being a victim It as if I didn't have insurance at all. To top it off Progressive did a by job keeping me informed as they checked to see if the other driver might have insurance. Indeed he did but he let it lapse. I notice on Paperwork from his old policy Progressive didn't report that until August 9, 2018 and the accident happened on August 4, 2018. I didn't receive a update from Progressive until August 31, 2018 a two weeks later. I got from other insurance company two phone call and paperwork and waited for Progressive to get back with me on a update whether the other person had insurance from his insurance policy. To me not very good at communication. I guess I wasn't important. Nobody at Progressive ask for a quote on damages to my car or anything. I'm lost now. What do I do??? Can someone help please...

In October of this year my son's unoccupied car was slammed into while parked in his driveway. He ran out of the house just as the driver was taking off and was able to get the license plate info. He called it into the police dept and they were able to apprehend the driver. She was arrested and by the following week we were able to obtain a police report. The driver had Progressive insurance. We contacted our insurance company to have them instruct us on what we needed to do. My son's car wasn't drivable so we had it towed to a collision center to get an estimate of damages and he had to get a rental car.
My son contacted the claim rep from Progressive who was handling the case to let them know he had the rental and that the rental company needed to speak with the claim rep to get the police report info and also to get a timeline of when an adjuster would be at the collision center to look at the damages. Her reply to him was that she didn't know... and that she didn't even have a police report so he would be out of his own pocket for the rental. She also told him that it would be in his best interest to file a claim through his own insurance company. I'm furious at this point seeing as how my son is on my policy so I call and leave a message for her to return my call.
It's been a week. Both my son and I have left about 6 voicemails concerning this claim and she has yet to return our calls. So we have no choice to file a claim with our insurance company. Which could possibly raise our rates and he now has to pay the deductible to get his own car fixed that was slammed into by Progressives negligent driver. Is this Progressive's policy? Is this how you guys handle your business? According to our run in we've had and the countless other reviews I just read it seems it is and it's quite pathetic!!! If you have Progressive for insurance my advice is to switch and pray you never get into an accident with someone who carries it!

I've had Progressive for several years now. I haven't had to file any serious claims, but overall, the service, and experience provided by Progressive seems to be quite average. This year, for some reason, I needed to prove to the company that I live where I said I did, which was a little bit of a pain to do. They only accept very specific forms of proof, and it was an annoyance that I didn't need, especially since I DO live where I've said I live. The prices are low enough that I'm mostly happy with what I get, but I don't have a ton of options. Everything is either far too expensive, or else has much worse terms.

They talked us into getting Progressive Snapshot. Many people said not to do it because they raise your rates based on how poorly you drive. We are good drivers, so we actually got a good score on Snapshot and our rates went down. About 8-9 months ago I was rear-ended on the highway. Completely totaled my car. Progressive reimbursed me for the full value fairly quickly once we realized that it wouldn't be repairable, which was just about as much as I paid for it in the first place. They also provided a rental car for a couple of days, until I purchased another car. Overall, while stressful, I was mostly satisfied with my claim. I contacted Progressive about it and suddenly the guy who hit my car no longer wished to cooperate. I wanted my car to be repaired. Progressive offered to do it at their destinated shop even though I was not responsible for the damage. I got my car repaired and went on with my life.
Years later I moved and switched insurance companies. It was then that I figured out they put an at fault accident on my record. I called them more times than I can count about the matter but they were not willing to try to resolve the matter. I overpaid on my car insurance due to this error and never got a dime of it back. They will charge you extra for anything they can think of without trying to help you. A windshield replacement is counted as a claim the same as an auto accident. So when they ask if you've had claim and you tell them no. They raise your rate for "lying" to them about it instead of simply asking if even the smallest thing, that you may not remember, might have occurred and may count as a claim. It's not at all the same as lying and they know it. So watch out.

Promised a 6 month premium but salesman did not callback like he said and they raised it by $300 when I called back the next day. Definitely looking for new insurance.

When they want their money it comes out clickety split, but to get a refund for something you called about BEFORE the scheduled payment, it takes 12 days to get the money back??? All I can say is WTF... you promised me it wouldn't be taken out, then you did it anyway and will take 12 days to get my money back. The very LAST time I sign with a national. I easily joined their patent payment plan in 2017 for the rebuilding insurance coverage ratings. A six-month deal that was purported lowered by May 2018. Didn't happen. Called them about it. Next two billing cycles were discounted by $20. After that, the rate went up again, and I called them again about it. They promised they had lowered it, that I was all set. Nope. The August billing went, and the higher charge was back. Soon after, a local insurance contacted me with a significantly lower rate, so I took it. Called Progressive to CANCEL that policy, effective END September. No further charges.
They emailed me the cancellation confirmation, but the pro-rate had not refunded to my bank after 10 days. Sure enough, ANOTHER PAYMENT went through my bank account, and I hit the roof. Called Progressive and about punched the dude through my phone as he tells me "no record of any account cancellation". I very patiently sat through a 2ND CANCELLATION, in which I'm told they could refund me only me ONLY the pro-rate, not the full payment amount because of the date. What utter B.S. NO prior insurance ever did that to me, which I noted to the guy. NEVER AGAIN.

I recently got a 6 month policy with PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE on my 2005 Ford Expedition. Nearly 1400 for basic coverage at six months. "Fine I said," I sucked it up and paid it. Then shortly after many lower quotes came in which differed immensely from PROGRESSIVE'S CLAIMS. So much I feel a fraud had taken place. Luckily or so I believed at the time one such quote did included the true PROGRESSIVE QUOTE. Not the quote I agreed to pay, not a third party. The PROGRESSIVE QUOTE BY PROGRESSIVE FOR PROGRESSIVE. Again, not the quote I just with incorrect misrepresented knowledge, agreed to pay for. SO I TRIED TO FIX MY POLICY WRITTEN by playing the phone game. You know game, you get on the phone and press 1 now, then press 3, then an operator says whatever. You win some you lose some.
Most of us all have played this game and it's so frustrating to continue to play this over and over, never solving our issue at all. The person or third party rep with whom I spoke with originally when the policy in my reference was written, was being recorded by me, and I informed him the call was to be recorded, he agreed as did I for the archive to exist. I asked this Third Party Representative when we set up policy, if booking fees were charged. "NO NO NO." He claimed, no fees in addition, this fact is on record... Keep this in mind for later when I try to get the truth. When the actual PROGRESSIVE QUOTE WAS IN, I HAD SIGNED THE INCORRECTLY QUOTED POLICY.
When getting a quote from PROGRESSIVE shortly after I signed, I also was disturbed to have found a nearly 300 dollar difference. Money now in the hands of PROGRESSIVE and the elements and power of this huge machine are now becoming apparently to me. I add that in my opinion, DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES are now starting to seem what may have been the reason this happened at all. This path of deception I'll call it, will be something that agent after agent will make unusually ridiculous stories to deny. I personally believe it to be is a fraudulent deception committed against the consumer, this consumer this time was ME!
I'm guessing it is very usual because the roads I was forced to travel upon in my pointless search to get MY money back, are clearly very well paved and heavily traveled by many. I was told by more than 4 operators in the phone game, that to get the difference, I MUST cancel the policy and wait for a full refund by mail. What, a new policy for 1174.00 more. Then through the mail, weeks.... or even a month later, I'd get the full amount of the first policy (the deceptively written policy for 1300 plus) in full. That's how they claim their mistake is fixed. Who has an extra 1174.00 or does everyone have an extra 1174.00? Now I must include I can cancel and get a refund but I have a cancellation on my record and I still have a vehicle with no insurance. Hmmm, okay how about we rewrite the policy I requested and send me the difference in question, nearly 300 dollars.
Nope. PROGRESSIVE DONT DIM THAT, OTHERS DO BUT NOT PROGRESSIVE. So I FINANCIALLY STRUGGLE while having paid for a policy that I was misinformed of the true costs Or its terms. I said to myself with confidence, "Marty, I have been deceived and I bet Im screwed." As this, deceived-consumer I am now calling myself, I played phone tag of many kinds. I learned unfortunately, that because I can't pay PROGRESSIVE ANOTHER HUGE SUM OF MONEY, and I can't go without a policy on my vehicle to keep a license suspension off the table.
And because I spent everything on this overinflated fraudulently presented policy I now have, without a huge sum of money in addition to it all, I'm such paying Progressive and they know this. They depend on this! Progressive profits more because of this! It's standard operation practices as I found to be. I kept thinking how can I LEGALLY be, that because I don't have an extra thousand plus dollars to go with a policy elsewhere before cancelling this one, I can't get money that I'm clearly entitled to, money that in my opinion, was systematically defrauded from me. A third party PROGRESSIVE contracts is how I originally came upon this misrepresented product or policy. They, meaning Progressive, pay and entrust these third party agents to legally represent Progressive and they (both parties) agree to practice the same policies, regulations and laws.
They... (Progressive claims they the third party) made the mistake and the difference is a booking fee. Sorry try again no booking fee existed here. I recorded my conversation before any money ever changed hands... The booking agent said that no fee was added for using his services and it's reflected in the documents Progressive and I possess. No booking fee. So I asked the others that were playing the phone game with me to explain why I was OVERCHARGED. Call after call, operator after operator and ridiculous excuses and long pauses and excessive holds and transfers to others. I got nothing.
I lost and wasted my time as excuse after excuse was given attempting to inform me what IDENTICAL POLICIES BEING COMPARED had am huge difference in premiums costs. IDENTICAL FOLKS, IDENTICAL. Back to the phones I guess is all I can do and I got absolutely nowhere. Progressive agents on the customer service numbers claimed my policy was different because my driving record came back so that is why it's "More"... Try again Progressive, the amount was actually and unexpectedly less the s time (I never told this one specific operator at customer SVC if the difference was higher or lower, he just assumed it was higher). Hmm, I knew then, this entire happening was one of the many tactics systematically used to produce higher revenues for PROGRESSIVE.
After several customer service agents compared identical policies, none could explain to me why I was billed nearly 300 dollars more for the same policy. They did agree on one thing though. They all agreed on what I needed to do so I could fix their mistake and misrepresented information. Of course I was blamed and made to seem unreasonably over demanding. Their mistake not mine... And I was told repeatedly that more money from me, will fix their mistake. My money to fix PROGRESSIVE'S mistake, and it's recorded over and over and over, and I have no other options? This to me, easily confirms they systematically employ of fraudulent business practices.
I personally witnessed a well practiced, flawlessly orchestrated protocol. A protocol I witnessed as it was used against me. A protocol that only exist, simply to explain these inconsistent numbers and policy rates. I experienced their gentle or legal (I'll intentfully) way that they have grossly adopted which allows them to keep mistakes from becoming refunds. A PROGRESSIVE MISTAKE or ERROR or a MISREPRESENTED POLICY PREMIUM or whatever you call it is a lot of money PROGRESSIVE has and are going to try to keep. How can this be I keep asking but it is the truth. I am it that money and I can't afford to pay to fix it. This "conned" as I call it, money that's owed to the consumer, many times over, stays in the possession of PROGRESSIVE and most never know they've been had. I Wanna know why and how this can go on?
I have an idea as to why so easily I believe I have been defrauded. It is because I put my money and trust into a company that uses fraud tactics to take hard earned money from people on fixed incomes, or from people who have no resources to fight back. Thats why I was a victim of this, thats what I believe. Pass the buck Progressive... Will you trust me, the way I used to trust you?
Nevertheless I must let you all know that this THIRD PARTY ALSO BLAMES THE OTHER. No surprise really. To keep from getting ripped off or deceived, they expect me/you to voluntarily rip myself/yourselves off again. It's insanity at its FOR PROFIT FINEST. Remember though, our wallets suffer... not theirs. I found policies with equal coverage or even more coverage, for nearly half or hundreds less, hours after I signed. Even the quotes from other carriers that are posted by PROGRESSIVE as a tool for us all to use to make a well informed decision, WE'RE HEAVILY OVERINFLATED.
These so called competitor rates or what have you, are so inconsistent with the true quotes, I see these numbers only Yet one more of the many... unethical tools PROGRESSIVE uses to get more of our money. I found another tactic, legal sure but unethical and immoral it, still is too. Skillfully used, these and many other well practiced manipulations made me a victim. I learned unfortunately, when used alongside the many other deceptive practices PROGRESSIVE skillfully employs, I'm of many with whom have been taken in this business plan. Is it legal to just misrepresent a product and to just take our/my money? I learned that YES it's legal.
More than ten different carriers over and over and over had drastically lower premiums for the EXACT same coverage and I found these prices within hours of paying for my OVERINFLATED policy. So here it sits and I'll break it down to my truth. I'm out my light bill, phone bill, a full tank of gas, 3 prescriptions, one co-pays, and that non generic toothpaste I was hoping to finally purchase. That's what I had to do without because I didn't have NEARLY THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS that PROGRESSIVE HAS SCAMMED FROM ME. Yes folks that's what I would have gotten for that NEARLY THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I just want to pass it on to others what has happened to me. I hope that I have Informed you and you don't become another victim to this deception. It's used by many by the way, not just PROGRESSIVE.
It's one of many legal means by which we are easily defrauded. I'm out nearly three hundred dollars because I can't afford to pay for another policy to be written. I can't just cancel the incorrect one either. DECEIVED AND DEFRAUDED BY PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE. It's true, I can't do anything about this well orchestrated game (I believe is intentfully aimed to unethically yet on the semantically argued edge of legal) played to overcharge consumers and stop many from having a corrective method.
This allows new revenue streams to exist while the grey spots in law, give protection. THEY... PROGRESSIVE AND MANY OTHERS, with intent, DO THIS EVERYDAY TO THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU! I was naive so now, if I want my 300 dollars back, I'll be forced to pay 1174 more, or pay for another policy... Then to get MY money back, I now must wait possibly over a month while they have my money interest free. They charge me interest when I can't pay in full. One more thing done to us we can't do to them.
I should be given interest on my 300 and refunded but it will never happen. I'm also by the way just expected to TRUST that my refund or the money from the incorrect policy will just be on its way. And I can't expect it for weeks maybe more... Weeks maybe more. Allegedly it will come in the mail. TRUST REALLY? I don't have that 1174 more... I barely made the first incorrect amount. Listen folks, Stay away from PROGRESSIVE. Trust yourself and only yourself when you're being told amounts and coverage types and state required this and suggested that. Don't just quickly agree to this add on or that deductibles or premium. It's nearly exhausting and the majority of us go into this with little or no knowledge of the truth.
Those I have spoke to about this, some which seemed somewhat knowledgeable of the inner workings of insurance carriers. We're surprised to be far more clueless than they had believed about this topic. It's funny, I asked a friend, a third party auto insurance agent, how could this happen. She told me this is a standard practice in the industry, a way to keep from giving morally owed refunds. Legal and moral are by far not equal in THE WORLD OF PROGRESSIVE. I hope that by informing consumers like myself, others will get the true information which will allow them to pay a more fair rate than Impair. To me what happened is a symptom of a bigger problem.
What else should I watch for when searching for auto insurance? It's been a month now and I am struggling still to make ends meet. I struggle as a normal, but when it's the time of year to pay auto insurance, I struggle more and it trickles on down to my budgets and I experience the hit for months. One person I am yes, alone I feel, struggling with no help I exist. But I can do one thing that can help. I can tell you my experience to help arm you against this. I suggest we all ask more questions and believe less when things aren't in writing. And when written, ask even more. I wish I would have got in writing the way I feel comfortable that mistakes like these should be handled.
PROGRESSIVE AND ITS MANY MANY TOOLS, funny it is really, isn't it? They put these advertisements everywhere and naive consumers are hopeful by the fancy gadgets and glare that these advertised savings truly exists. The matrix and inner operation has remained the same I found. A glare with a fancy gadget didn't change anything at all. It is still the same old policies written for the same old coverage now and before.
For what we all are strategically advertised to believe, these savings on paper merely look like any other bill at the end of it all. Savings I'm not sure, deceptive behavior I can easy conclude yes. Do not be fooled by these so called price tools and other marketing gimmicks. Tools do not change the product at all. Its insurance and money is the objective. Tools they say... well I was the tool when naively I signed with Progressive. I learned however, we the consumer, are the only tool we truly need. Good Luck everyone!

No accidents, no tickets, no claims in over 15 years. Then they added another $200 because they claimed I never sent them proof of my previous insurance coverage and/or a copy of my medical insurance card, which I had via email. Eventually, this was cleared up after several calls and repeat emails. I was only with Progressive for a couple months before I decided to go with Farmers Insurance (they are incredibly less expensive. I saved $600 per year with them). Progressive issued a $525 refund check on 9-9, which was received on the 17th. I received another refund check in the amount of $425 on 10-4.
I went to PNC (Progressive's bank) and found out that the $525 check had been canceled (without letting me know) because I had "failed" to return a "snapshot" device to them (which I had... I have the tracking No.). After several phone calls, they now tell me that I should get the $100 in a couple weeks. The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my life. On 8-29-18 a car insured also with Progressive like myself did not stop when police tried pulling him over for tint on his vehicle. He sped off at a high rate and police discontinued pursuing him and turned their lights off but stood in that direction. As he proceeded from a stop sign when the guy fleeing officers hit him at a high rate totaling my Honda Civic which we recently found out from Honda had the airbags recalled. Officers were immediately there since they had tried pulling him over for tint. After hitting my car they ran into a tree and left the scene. Inside the vehicle were open beer containers, as well as some drugs.
Officers reassured us at the scene that we would have no problem getting insurance to get our car back since he was an innocent victim. Turns out not true. From the time of filing the claim the agent made it blatantly clear that they were going to deny the claim which they ultimately did giving the example that if some one robs a bank or commits a crime like that then runs from police they are in the commission of a crime. Whomever they hit while fleeing doesn’t not get reimbursed by the insurance company. I even recording him acknowledging that they never intended to approve my claim.
And yesterday they had the nerve to send a late payment notice! I have no car and Im still incurring charges in a tow yard you refused to even check saying no agents are available in my area when there’s one around the corner of my home. As I’m waiting on the state investigation to give them the 15 days you're allotted we will continue to have to spend money on transportation back and forth to work and pay to go to the supermarket and lose out the money I invested into buying my car. I would caution anyone from dealing with your company after the way I was treated!

I guess I did not spend enough time and exercise enough diligence before accepting the idea that a device plugged into a vehicle could measure good driving and result in cheaper insurance rates for good drivers. I used the device since about May 1, 2018 to the September 27, 2018. I was disappointed from the outset at how quick this device was to penalize normal city driving (especially when I would slow down, intending to stop on red instead of speeding up to get through yellow lights).
I realized that I needed to drive more slowly in approaching traffic lights, which means hesitant driving, so that I could have enough time to slow down and not have to speed through when lights began to turn yellow. Otherwise, I would get that annoying beep just for slowing down at the rate of normal city driving. I agree with other reviewers that the rate of deceleration flagged by the device is not practical and is unsafe. The concept of one static rate of deceleration is also flawed, as others have recognized. Good driving normally is decisive driving; and this calls for varying rates of deceleration and acceleration, depending on the flow of traffic and other factors. Driving that slows at a predetermined set rate tends to be hesitant, annoying to other drivers and dangerous.
Although I tended to adapt to the device, such adaptation caused a deterioration in my driving techniques. I will not spend the time to give details; but in summary, I did not handle changes of traffic lights very well, and I did not contribute to the smooth flow of traffic in some cases. I also noticed that at times the device would beep at corners, when I was going slowly. My wife reported the same observation. I now realize, from reading a review by someone else, that there is a technical glitch for this discrepancy.
Maybe there is also a technical glitch that explains a couple of fast-start reports that showed up on my trip reports. My wife apparently also had one such fast-start report. My Toyota Prius C is not the kind of vehicle in which one burns rubber to get going. It has a very gradual acceleration, in keeping with the CVT (transmission). My wife also (usually in a Toyota Corolla LE sedan) is no race-car driver when it comes to setting a car in motion. Gradually I realized that the device was biased toward an unfavorable rating. It might easily provide reason for an insurer to raise rates. It is unlikely to generate a rate decrease for a good driver. That is perhaps why some reviewers have labeled the snapshot program a sham. I agree that it does not do what it has been advertised as doing; that is, it is not a device that identifies good driving, and it contributes to bad driving.

This guy talks and acts like he knows everything, but he doesn’t understand simple physics or common sense. Hmmm if my car was making a noise in an area near where I was hit but it wasn’t before maybe it was caused by the accident. That sounds simple enough to me. No, he went down there with the mechanics and didn’t drive my car or anything — he only looked at the area directly contacted by the other driver — that’s all he wanted to cover. I had to get angry at him for him to have the mechanics drive my car around to listen for a scraping noise that started to occur after the accident. This was in the back-right wheel well. I’m guessing the movement from the impact bent something and it’s now hitting my rotor intermittently. The guy’s an idiot.
If you get hit by someone with Progressive Insurance, get ready for a fight. Oh, and they weren’t going to replace my tailpipe that was bent. He was confident they could bend it back. How cheap are these guys?? They advertise all the time about their cheap prices, but do you wonder how they’re so cheap?? This will go both ways. They’ll be just as cheap with full coverage for you.
I had a Progressive claim on an old Buick that I had driven through the rain for a whole day while travelling. My car stopped running and needed to be fixed. They sent out an inspector who didn’t know cars and who said that there wasn’t evidence of water getting to a certain point in the car. Well my car worked before driving in the rain, and it didn’t work after the rain. So much for full coverage from Progressive. I took my car to buddy who knows cars and is a mechanic. He said it was from the rain and fixed my car for me for cheap. Progressive adjusters are spawns of Satan trying to pinch and squeeze every little penny they can. They could care less about customer service. To anyone who’s thinking about going with them, please, don’t!

Bad customer service ever. I put the car into the dealer body shop for repair, and they spent almost 30 days to get the additional supplements to approve, and the rental car only have 30 days. They won’t extend the rental car for me. After that I spend about $600 to rent a car for two week. I talk with them, but the response is that is not their company’s fault. OMG, that was my fault to choose such kind of insurance company.

I've been a perfect customer for 9 years paying on time, no tickets, no claims. Then an underinsured driver rear ended me and totaled my brand new, 500 miles, vehicle. Progressive chose to use 2 fair prices of similar vehicles and one "low-ball" that included incentives (trade in, military discount, etc) that was $8000 less than my vehicle. That brought down their settlement offer amount so now I am terribly upside down and have no down payment for a replacement vehicle. When we talked to the adjuster he said he would not change the low-ball amount. Also, they rated my brand new vehicle condition inside and out a 3 out of 5. Brand new with 500 miles! I couldn't have worn out any part of that vehicle from a 5 only having in a couple of weeks!
When we inquired about it he said that's just how they do it. WHAT? On top of everything else, they took weeks to give us the final offer in hopes that we would be so desperate to settle and not continue making payments on a car we couldn't use, that we would just accept their unfair offer. I will always be sure to mention to friends and family how Progressive has treated us and urge everyone NOT to use this insurance company. Please think twice before going with this insurance company. They do not have your back and will try to pay as little as possible even though you have paid faithfully for years.

My wife was involved in a rear end accident by a driver who carried Liability only Progressive Insurance. The insured driver that struck my wife's vehicle accepted 100% liability for the accident. My wife and I carry full coverage Progressive Insurance. Once liability was finalized the claims adjuster for the insured driver that hit my wife now became my wife's claims adjuster. Throughout the week my wife has experienced the following: Denied a rental vehicle due to the claims adjusters inability to find a rental on time. My wife then had to pay for one out of our pocket to only be reimbursed for half even though the vehicle class was what she was promised.
Has been misled by the claims adjuster who withheld information about the whereabouts of her totaled vehicle. My wife had to leave work early to drive across town only to find that her totaled vehicle had already been picked up in the morning by Progressive. My wife has been denied a new claims adjuster by the claims adjuster's supervisor. The claims adjuster has contacted us requesting information that was already provided. All of these things happened during the span of one week.
Friday, September 14th at the end of the day we received a Fair Market Value figure of $24,113.45. My wife's vehicle was a 2018 with less than 20,000 miles that was $37,150.00. When we tried to call back everyone was gone for the day. Our lien holder has to accept Progressive's Fair Market Value before Progressive will submit payment and our lien holder advised that due to the very low FMV request it could take up to 3 days for investigation. Progressive has given us one extra day in our rental since we have Progressive insurance. We will be out of our rental and will need to rent another vehicle and pay out of our own pocket while they continue negotiation.
We paid extra for robust insurance through Progressive. My wife had no liability in this accident. We have been penalized every step of the way. We have endured the most stressful week because of Progressive. If our lien holder accepts the very low FMV not only will we not be able to get into a similar vehicle we will be in financial debt. We have received threats regarding coverage, threats regarding rental, misled and now we will be financially responsible to cover our own rental and to finance again to get into a similar vehicle. Progressive insurance has and will continue to hurt us in any way that they can to save money. It is not fair, it should not be legal and it certainly is not ethical.

I was insured by this company and every time I turned around, they were going up on my rates. It didn't take long to find another carrier. I retained car insurance for my 07 Honda Civic and a little over a week later this guy that ran a stop sign after fleeing a police stop over tinted windows totaled my car going over 90 mph. Officers at the scene said it was all going to be taken care of. Turns out the other driver also has Progressive and not only has the insurance agent yet to check my car that was totaled at the scene going on 4 weeks later but he hasn’t done anything at all or his supervisors. On day 2 he said the police report wasn’t ready and that was the problem. By this time we already had gathered him the other driver's information, policy #, everything so we knew the report was done, so I went and paid and got the report myself, then he said he had to speak to the officer, but he wasn’t able to get ahold of her.
By this point it became apparent they were stalling, so I spoke to the officer and she called him of course and then after he ran out of excuses as to why the claim was processing he made sure to let me know the fraud department was going to have to look into it. So I outright asked why they were looking for reasons not to pay my claim and he said yes. Not due to us but what the other driver might have been doing prior to the accident. This company has done everything but help. At this point having me Maas owes me a paycheck. He has done nothing and Progressive has done nothing.
A multimillion dollar company doesn’t pay on black and white claims that clearly is indicated on the police report. No one from Progressive has even been to the towing yard to check the damages. So I’m still incurring costs because next thing is Progressive disputing my damages. And to top it off they sent me an email not to forget my payment is due soon. So save yourselves and stay away. These agents and company will not pay and will not help you at all! It’s true what they say about insurance agents finding every reason to not pay out!

They only wanted to look at a radius of 150 miles, although we had to go 200 miles from home to find the Wolfsburg. And we live in an isolated rural area so little within 150 miles! After slightly increasing the value, they went back to repair shop to look for more repairs. They factor in car rental for more days than occurred, add in even more "unknown" repair costs, salvage value etc to make repair cost so high they can total the car. The handling of my claim has been unacceptable. First I was unable to speak to anyone who could help with my specific claim for days after I was rear ended by one of Progressive’s policyholders. When I did drop my car off to the body shop it took weeks for an adjuster for Progressive to go out and approve the additional repairs to my car so that they could begin the work which would take an additional 3 weeks. During this time the body shop reached out to Progressive multiple times with no response. Once all of the work was done we waited on a final check which I was never told was already issued to me. The other two checks were issued directly to the body shop.
I had to call to check on this check twice before I was told that the check should have been issued to me. When I told the woman who handled my claim that nobody ever communicated the check was coming to me she told me “we wouldn’t issue you a check and not let you know” which is exactly what happened. Her tone became increasingly annoyed as if the lack of communication by her and her coworkers to me was somehow my fault. Unfortunately 2003 Yamaha XLT 1200's intake grate wraps around the bottom of the motor so any little water that gets near there is automatically vacuumed into the motor. All of the required documents must have my name and the new address on it. They also accept school documents (which I don't go to school). They don't accept bank statements and vehicle registration as a proof of garaging (Really? The address is right there, what kind of proof do they want?). I was insured by Progressive during my accident, where I was found to be not at fault. My vehicle was determined to be a total loss within a week. That's the good news. The bad: Progressive runs a scam for calculating vehicle value. Progressive hires a 3rd party adjuster, who is supposed to find comparable vehicles with the same year, make, model and options as yours. This company compiles data, then spits out a value, which Progressive uses for your claim. First problem, they do not account for sales tax or title and license fees. If I paid for these in my initial purchase of the vehicle, and I was found to be not at fault, this should be a simple reimbursement. Not with Progressive. They will fight tooth and nail to make sure this is not something you are reimbursed for.
Second problem, when determining the vehicle's value, the third party that Progressive hires uses a theoretical sale factor to reduce the value of your vehicle. So, if Dealership A has listed your vehicle for sale for $20,000, the third party will reduce this amount by 10% and say that's what it would sell for, if you were to negotiate with the dealer. This is asinine for a myriad of reasons. The idea that I have to negotiate anything when I'm not at fault is simply fraudulent. Worse, none of this is verified by the dealerships involved. There is no verification that these sale prices occur, it's simply a fictitious model, based on expected results. Herein lies the deeper problem.
I was able to locate two of the five vehicles listed in the report. One of those two had a sticker price that was $3,500 more than the report. It took weeks, but Progressive finally admitted that they do not verify the accuracy of the reports and do not have access to the data. Progressive then proceeded to hide behind their 3rd party and claim ignorance, all the while, they stood by their 3rd party's assessment. Instead of fighting for their customer, they would rather give a low-ball offer, knowing that you need a claim check for a new car sooner rather than later. Progressive is simply dishonest in the way they employ deceptive reporting practices, which are blatantly designed to repress the value of their customer's vehicles and thus lowering the payout. If you can afford car insurance, you can afford better than Progressive.

I noticed that there was no STATE that I could choose from and no entry field yet there was a state shown but not the state I was located in so I figured no biggie and continued but as I said I lucked out when I closed the browser because from $61.00 per month it suddenly jumped to $111.00 per month. Now imagine if I did complete my banking. The headache of trying to get a refund after canceling my current car insurance and what made it worst was they were sending e-mail after e-mail trying to get me to complete the purchase, so I told them if I receive another one of their e-mails I would file a complaint with the FTC and instantly no more e-mails.
I'm sure they were the insurance company that I had when I first bought my car and after about 1 1/2 years they sent me an e-mail and tried to increase my policy by 1/3 they said due to my credit report and I always paid in full upon renewal. People have to watch this company with both eyes because I don't think the state thing was a mistake. It was planned that way because once they would have my money and the insurance on my car was canceled I would be in a very bad position and would have been forced to pay that $111.00 per month because if there was a cancellation and my car was not insured for even a day the fine would be $250.00 here in Nevada.

Progressive Rep showed up & immediately accused me of LYING about the incident & denied claims on basis that THE PARTS WERE ALREADY WORN OUT and were not NEW so they would not replace. Immediately CANCELLED them & went to back to ALLSTATE! NEVER AGAIN will I deal with this dishonest company. I had not HAD ANY sort of claim in over 6 years! It's worth paying a little more for GOOD COVERAGE!

Please don't let the nice Progressive commercials fool you. I was hit by a Progressive insured motorist from behind and it took them two weeks to decide that I was 50% at fault even though their insured motorist hit me from behind. There is also a police report that they have to confirm that he hit me. Throughout those two weeks it was me having to call them for updates and when I did get the Adjuster Amber she couldn't tell me anything. Although she was pleasant she wasn't helpful at all. To add insult to injury not only am I allegedly responsible for the damages to my car I am also 50% responsible for the damage to their vehicle even though he hit me. With that logic I should have just hit the car in front of me but ever so slightly, so they could be responsible for repairing my car as well.
Save yourself some future headache and avoid Progressive. It may be slightly cheaper but useless when you need them. Go with AAA as the customer service is awesome and they actually care about their insured and I would bet they are more affordable as well. In Summary...Progressive Sucks... Nice Commercials don't equal quality service.

I started using this company in 2012 with great expectations through ads and such. Well I had liability insurance. And as time went on my premiums went up until I finally had enough and had a quote done from several companies. Well State Farm quoted me a price for double the coverage for four dollars a month cheaper. Then I found out through State Farm I had PIP and was paying 114 a month. Unbelievable when I thought I was paying for liability not PIP... Unbelievable!!!

Roadside services are a joke. Waited from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm for service in 106 degree weather... Just to get roadside you must open a link that is texted to you when you are on the side of the road or in traffic broke down... I got in an accident, had to get my own tow in a dangerous situation. Because my situation was so scary I did not have time to start a claim. That's right... You can't get a tow until you file a claim, on the roadside while your car is blocking traffic. This is the most ridiculous process I've ever experienced. I'm going to be filing a complaint. I have had Progressive in a long time and have needed them 2 times... both in the past 2 weeks. I would be a dumb** to keep them past the complaint process. I will put effort in because it is complete bull that my hard earned money is being given to a very deceiving and uncaring company. I heard from my tow truck drivers that GEICO is good.

Just wanted to write a review on how outrageous Progressive Insurance is. I was getting charged $1,000 for full coverage on a Honda Civic 2009! $1000! With a renewal rate of $650. Unbelievable! I switched over to Geico and now pay $442 with full coverage. Progressive also charged me $90 for some prorated fee? When I was never informed of such **. I would have canceled on the 1st if they would have mentioned it! I basically paid $90 to cancel. Go away. Geico is better!

Yes. I am very unhappy with Progressive Insurance and I see all of the previous negative remarks for this company and they are all so true. I have been with this company for over 7 years, have always been a safe drive, not file any claims, in fact the only service that I have ever gotten from them is 1 free tow service for my vehicle. My concern and problem with this company is the prices every 6 months consistently goes up and all their customer service people either by phone or chat, gives you some lame excuse talking about when underwriters cost goes up, Progressive has to increase on the customer. I hate this, those lame incentives they call as savings is a joke. I want people to know all those annoying commercials with Flo and that dumb man assistance with her is nothing but false advertise and a hike spill to entice innocent customers in believing that they will save monies, you want. Progressive sucks and its employees reps.

I filed a claim on July 14, 2018 for damage to the driver's side car door and fender. The car was hit parked, with no one inside. The estimate was scheduled for almost 2 weeks later. I have been given the run around, since. The claim is not even over $500, considering the deductible has to be paid. I cannot believe the poor service that I have received. I have had State Farm, Auto Owners and Geico. NEVER have I even experienced anything like this. Steer clear of this company. I have only had them for a short time and I am not surprised at that negative reviews! Shameful!!!

My truck was hit and totaled by a Progressive policyholder. The settlement procedures used by Progressive were fraudulent, misleading and not in compliance with the NYS REG. The replacement vehicles they used for values had rust, damage, some not available per the NYS REG. and they considered a vehicle with a salvage title. They removed options from the replacements and plugged in their own figures for purposes of lowering the value. My truck was in above average condition and they refused to value the condition accordingly.
Get this, I asked for a rating of 1 above average on the body, trim and paint as there wasn't even a stone chip on it. But instead the supervisor squeezed the driver's seat cushion and said it felt like moderate wear! There is more but you get the point. I am an auto appraiser of over 38 years and was unable to convince them to do the right thing and value the vehicle properly. I'm still fighting them (6 months). Please folks, get a second opinion if this happens to you. Do not let them control the situation, question everything they do even if that requires an attorney.

In my personal business in which I own, I've worked with practically every insurance company for over 25 years and I'm A rated by them to deal with on large home and commercial building claims. I'm even hired by insurance companies and their legal departments to work on their behalf. Progressive Auto Insurance has literally been the #1 biggest failure I've ever heard of or experienced. My tiny claim admittedly by my contact person and a manager should have only taken two to three days tops. But several months later it still wasn't completed. To this day they still haven't paid the balance of the claim. My contact and a manager were both embarrassed and were at a loss for words. The car inspector didn't even go look at my car for well over a month! I won't take your time with further nightmare details as I'm sure you get the point by now. Run, Run, Run and don't waste your time or money.

Back in January I signed with Progressive insurance. At first I was paying only $123 a month but then it shot up to $143.00 a month when I updated my information with them. Then it shot up to $188.00 a month. I called them complaining because at the time I was living with my dad and he had his own car insurance but they wanted some kind of exclusion sheet about my dad signed by me. So I do what is supposed to be done. I tried paying for my payment and for some reason it was $135.00 and I thought they fixed everything and I paid the bill.
Well I got a bill for $188.00 and I called them and spoke to the supervisor and she said that sometimes they get people's social security mixed up and I came unglued from there. I told them that I found that unacceptable. Well I told them to take that mistake and fix it. So they did and I paid the rest of the bill. So then I decided to check my bill one morning since it was emailed to me that I owed $550.00. So I finally said that I am through with them. I had nothing but trouble with this company and you will too if you go with these charlatans! Even when I canceled with these crooks they put a $285 bill on my tab and I will not pay a cent to them. It's in collections and I really don't care.

It seems like there is a whole lot of people here that have been "robbed", in my opinion, by the Progressive Auto Insurance company. But seriously... Who really cares??? Nothing will be done, and no person/company is ever held accountable. I hope that writing this gets to someone, and makes some kind of difference, but I seriously feel totally helpless, alone, and victimized by predatory charges.
I just got off the phone from one of the most stressful conversations with numerous dead ends trying to understand how I'm now paying over $368/mo. for full coverage on a 2012 Ford Escape. Progressive has admitted to running a credit check, as well as add "points" to my driving record, in order to establish the new current rate. Mind you I've gone over 20 years without a citation, but within the last two years somehow managed to blast my good record to oblivion.
In July 2016 I was pulling up to my house with my boat in tow. I guess I misjudged the distance and the trailer wheel fender caught the edge of my neighbor's vehicle and tore the plastic front bumper loose. I told them what happened and they encouraged me to NOT file a claim, that it was a small damage and we'd settle it ourselves. That was great advice let me tell you, but I wanted to handle it by the book so I called Progressive and it was taken care of. This minor mishap will end up costing way more than the $800 it costed to fix. (My neighbor voluntarily showed me all the quotes they got so I know this.) Progressive thought it should cost 4 points to my record, which is now showing up on my new policy renewal in August of 2018.
Next, last December I was driving in Wisconsin on snowy roads and slipped off the road and hit a power pole. I was only traveling 20-25 mph but somehow totaled our 2009 Saab 97x, based on a quote from a local auto repair shop Progressive routinely works with. Progressive gave me 3 days to find a replacement vehicle. 3 days is all Progressive would pay for a rental car while I tried to find a replacement. It was Dec. 22, so Christmas would have been the day the rental coverage expired. After pleading for what felt like 25 minutes I got 5 days. I spent the next days leading up to Christmas frantically searching for a replacement based on the value they considered the Saab to be worth. I settled on a 2011 Ford Escape that I had to finance half of.
Tonight I go to pay a credit card bill and my debit card is rejected. It turns out Progressive renewed my policy and ballooned my monthly charges to $368, which is up from $228/month (already stupid high in my book). Now I have a $35 NSF charge from my bank because the money wasn't there. Progressive blindsided me with the new charges last night.
So I call them, and everyone knows how this goes I'm sure, I get transferred around to the wrong people, disconnected, and returned back to the automated main menu. After 4 attempts I'm directly asking for someone to answer questions regarding policy renewals. Lady tells me she can handle all questions. I ask her how they come up with the $368/mo and she keeps going on about 4 at fault accidents. It was like pulling teeth to get her to tell me enough information to even understand what they are, and honestly I still don't know. I clarified that the minor $800 incident with my neighbor's car cost 4 "Progressive points". Police were never involved. The other accident was charged 6 points for hitting the pole, and 4 points for leaving the scene. The 4th accident I have no idea?
After asking over and over how we get to $368 she mentions something about a credit check. I said "wait a minute, you ran a credit check?" She says, "no that's not what I meant, we don't as far as I know," "as far as you know, or you don't?" She finally tells me they do in fact run a credit check and it's part of how they determine the rates. To be clear I asked "so if one has bad credit, you will charge more?" Yes! That's exactly how it works.
On a side note, I was bitten by a cat and required rabies vaccinations, despite having health insurance I was charged around $6,000.00. Bills came from 7 different agencies/affiliates or whatever the hell they are, all somehow connected but not. I honestly did my best. I paid each $50/mo. for a few months all the while being harassed to agree to a payment plan, and told in fine print that even if I pay amounts less than the total that my credit would not remain in good standing. I called for help and they sent me a credit application to essentially take out a loan to repay them. The loan would of course be subject to interest. Within a month or two I was placed into collections. Each bill a separate entry, one for just $148!!! That's on my record for 7-10 years. But who cares?
Anyway, back to Progressive. Since they do credit checks they no doubt found my recent misfortunes to be a perfect opportunity to pound me into submission further. They increase rates for those of us with less than perfect credit. What else could they raise rates for? They leave this out of their commercials on T.V.They should be telling you to drive like your life depends on it. A couple small mistakes (accidents) can change your whole life.
So what does one do in this situation? Clearly I'm shopping for new insurance, but how can a company do this to people? It's so disgusting to beat a person while they're down. I can't afford an increase like this. I can barely afford things now. I'm a college graduate and a small business owner. I work very hard for a living. It wasn't a choice to have my credit affected, and I'm not a reckless driver. You wouldn't know that on paper. Not with Progressive. They talk to me like I'm a meaningless criminal, and they want to run me into the ground I swear. It's been a horrifying experience with them. I can't talk to anyone about it, my wife is fed up with me complaining about it. WTF!?! If I ran my small business anything like Progressive, treating customers like prey, how long would I last? God bless America.
