Overall Nationwide Insurance is a good company. I love the roadside assistance and that they have a free mobile app. I like the free locksmith when I lock my keys in my car and they are very timely and happy to help. Besides my monthly payment increase I have never had an issue with them. My monthly payment recently went up because discounts I had previously qualified for I didn't qualify for anymore like a new member discount which doesn't make sense on why it would go up or I should qualify for a better discount now.

Purchasing Nationwide Insurance was very easy. I just called the 1-800 number and the process did not take long at all. They even suggested to call around and get other quotes if I wanted to. They are very easy to talk to and call me if they find a way to reduce my insurance premium. They are also easy to make a claim with and handle them fast and efficiently. They provide excellent customer service and are very easy to reach. I also use them for my homeowners insurance as well.

I have been a Nationwide customer for over 30 years and they have always been good to me. I was mad only once. My daughter had a minor accident and no one was hurt. One of the passengers later sued, however, and our bill went up. But Nationwide has been so helpful whenever I needed them. The agent is great as is his staff. When I had an accident, Larry helped through. And he always helps me make the best choices. The staff also know me and they give information quickly, and I always feel happy talking to them. Their office is in a great location and their website is set up well too. Also, the insurance is cost efficient and auto pay is great.

The whole process of purchasing the insurance didn’t take too long and all of my coverages were explained to me in a way that I understood and all of my questions were answered. Their employees really know how to treat their customers and the staff in the office were very helpful. The app is very easy to navigate. They have accident forgiveness and plenty of discounts. They have a great claims process as well. But they are very picky about homes they insure. Also their auto rates are constantly increasing and they don’t offer a discount if you pay your premiums in full. Also, it’s hard to speak with someone when you call the customer service line.

Nationwide is a wonderful company. Easy to start a policy. Always helpful and good prices overall. Like that there are local offices so I can deal with a person, not just talk on the phone. Also, Nationwide is reliable and trustworthy. Always have what seems like fair prices. But Nationwide could do the accident forgiveness or the rebate checks after you go so many months with no accidents or tickets. That would be absolutely awesome.

I like the fact that they are a local company and they know who I am when I call them and need help. Personable has been a good quality but they are still a big corporation. And I feel at some point all insurance will be done online and the stores will be gone. I like the online bill pay and autodraft when needed. I also like the mobile app and it is easy to use. However Nationwide is more expensive than some other new insurance companies out there. And I feel all the advertising they do makes customers' auto insurance higher. I am open to exploring other options.

Great claim response and timely claim payments. But I do not like The cost and really don't understand why It continues to go up every single year. Otherwise it is a great process overall. It is easy to communicate with my agent and I really appreciate that.

I liked the towing and rental car coverage, as that helped me out tremendously. I also liked the options for deductibles. The coverage was great, but the price was not. The deductible vs. The cost of the policy was the reason I had to find different insurance. Also for the cost, I would like at least a year of AAA.

Nationwide offers insurance at a fair price and is there when I need them. So it makes for a good company. You want a good insurance company when you get into an auto accident that pays attention to your needs. I have been with a bad insurance company, and it sucks. It feels like they are just in the business for money and not helping others. But Nationwide is with good values. You don't want one that jerks you around and in the end you get nothing. It is a good policy. My family recommended Nationwide to me and they have been good to me so far. Overall completely satisfied and I have been trying to get friends to join the Nationwide team. Policy is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and shouldn't go cheap.

This company is an absolute joke! One can never get in touch with the agent. Apparently the agents are individual agents, and apparently Nationwide doesn’t have control over them. Our car got stolen and it has been a nightmare to get the vehicle repaired. Not only took a month for the whole process but also they only paid a portion of the work and we got stocked with the balance. The day after our car got stolen, a representative from Nationwide called to question me about my finances and if I was having trouble making my payments or if I had any criminal record, in essence asking me if I stole my own vehicle? Then we received another call from a bozo from the claims department asking for radio model and pics of the dashboard; he offer to buy a stereo and send it to us so we could take it for installation… what? What kind of Insurance Co. conducts business this way?

We took our business elsewhere and my new insurance company sent a letter of cancellation. They still withdrew money from my account this month, and two weeks later, we haven’t got reimbursed. I am trying to speak to someone about the issue but it is virtually impossible to speak to anyone. So I called the Nationwide 800 number and I explained to the person whom answered that I was having a terrible time getting a hold of my agent and that I wanted to talk to a manager or someone in complaints; she just kept repeating the same, “Sorry, the agents are individual agents” “you have to talk to them”. WOW!!! As the commercial says, Nationwide is on your side.

I added a vehicle to my policy (a policy that I have had for 11 years since I started driving). I was told that my rates would increase by about $50-$60. I agreed and added said vehicle. My previous bill was $135 per month. My new bill was $299 which is way more than the $50-$60 that was agreed upon prior to adding the vehicle. I was told that if I did not pay this amount by the end of March 29, 2018, that my policy would be cancelled. I called up and paid the amount on Mar. 29 and lowered some coverage to help save some money per month. Dropping some coverage options brought my balance to $258 so I paid that. I was told that my policy was up to date and would not be cancelled and that everything was taken care of. Additionally, I was told that my next bill would be due on April 10, 2018 in the amount of around $180 for both vehicles combined.

I get a letter the next week stating that they have cancelled my policy and that I must pay $40.97 to reinstate my policy and continue to receive insurance. I called asking as to why and they said the changes were never made even though they saw that they had been keyed in. I paid the amount and they would not tell me how much my next month's bill would be. At this point, I have NO idea what to expect on my bill and feel like they are just stealing from me and charging whatever they want to. I added the vehicle to my policy because I was told on the phone, NUMEROUS times, that my bill would only increase by about $50-$60. However, my normal bill was only $135 per month. $299 - $135 is a $164-dollar increase! That is literally twice the amount I was paying before. Additionally, the vehicle I added was a 1998 truck and my car was the $135 one.

There is NO reason that a truck from 1998 should double my cost from a 2014 Car. They lied to me and refuse to tell me what I will have to pay next month when my bill comes in. This has put me in a terrible financial situation as I only work 17 hours per week on average and am a full-time college student. I will probably have to sell my car now because they are charging me more in insurance than my car payment is. I have not had any accidents or anything that would cause my rates to go up, especially double them. This is absurd and they are stealing from me. Very disappointed. Nationwide is NOT on your side.

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our customer service center at 800-282-1446." After 10 years and after referring my friends and family to you during that time, this is not how I expected this to turn out. I have been with this insurance company for 17 years. Every year they would go up on policy stating that Maryland have increase their rates. I am now with Allstate and pay a whole lot less than what I was paying to Nationwide. I was in a head on accident in July of 2017. Due to the trauma of this accident which split my artery in my neck and cause me to have a stroke. This accident was cause by a stolen car driver that ran the red light. I was in the hospital for two weeks. Now I am trying to get paid by them and they only offering 19,000 dollars. Most of the money is going toward the hospital bills since I was in the critical care unit. The amount I would get is less than what they paid my car off for.

Instead of them having a doctor to review my case they used a nurse that is not a nurse that knows anything a stroke patient, so my doctors will burst her bubble and make her look like a fool when we go to court, praying that they would back out of the court case and pay me my money. It's bad enough my bodily injury amount is only 50,000 which I gave them in the years that I was with them plus some.

Of course I am going to court to get what I am due. It was bad enough that I didn't get my deductible back because the car was stolen and Geico said they are not paying anything out since the car was reported stolen. Nationwide have that saying is that they are on your side. NO NO NO they are not on your side and I would never advise anybody to use this insurance especially since they are not truly on your side. Their policies are too high. Please do your research before ever going with this company, you would pay less being with MAIF than with this insurance company.

The Nationwide driver agreed that it was his fault and Nationwide took care of the repairs and rental car. I couldn't use the rental car for my business according to Uber so I was out of work for 3 weeks. I asked for lost wages and turned in a week and half of Uber and Lyft statements prior to the accident to the Nationwide Rep. I did not have that many previous statements due to being sick but they added up to $1850.00. The rep came back and low balled me and said he would only pay around $1100.00 and told me if I had more statements he could do more.

I sent the Rep what I did since I got my car back. Last week. 2/19 thru 2/25 alone I worked 27.83 hours (or 5.566 hours per day). I made $823.83 (or $29.60 per hour) (or $164.588 per day). What I could have made for the 22 days I went without my car we will never know. I am only asking only for 5 days a week but your insured took away my right to make money for a total of 22 consecutive days. I feel I am being fair for only counting 16 out of the 22 days. Or $2,633.28. He said he could not pay me for future work. I said then I will not settle since he low balled me.

Contacted customer service within an hour to get it removed but they ended up removing the wrong vehicle from my policy. Got this rectified a month later during my review of my policy. Finally got the right vehicle back on but the extra driver was added to all vehicles, which in turn increased cost. Contacted customer service to get this rectified but got 30 minutes of chatter and ** that it would be taken care of promptly.

Contacted customer service again after another month to find out where my refund was for these extra charges for which I got another 30 minutes of chatter and utter nonsense that it had been given to me in past made payments. I can do simple add and subtract so after spending an hour or so trying to figure out where the refund was it could never be found as nothing had changed on my monthly cost. Finally had to just change insurance companies with real people that can take care of business but guess what I get another bill for more money that they sent to a collection company. After spending time on the phone again with them to say it went nowhere would be an understatement. I know that if I did not pay then I get credit dinged and you know how lazy those people are at that place about making sure there are not lies and untruths put on your credit report so just ended up pay them out.

Never will I do business with this crappy company again and for those that think those rates are all good then good luck to you. Not only was their customer a bully, but they were too. They actually got the police to cite me in a private parking lot with no witnesses and their customer was partially at fault because he took the "right of way" in which he refused to do anything to avoid an accident even though he had 4 lanes and good visibility to see me. I did the 4 second rule and he wasn't there. He said he was going under the speed limit and honked for a long time but if that were the case then he could have slowed down to avoid me. He and Nationwide called me as I was traumatized in my first accident ever where I was partially at fault at the least and cited for a moving violation based only on what their customer said. You NEVER call the other party as they are still on scene by themselves waiting for a tow truck.

His car had a scratch and he should have paid for it but he said his insurance would have totaled it since it was worth $2K so he had to get my insurance to pay for it. I guess I need to treat others not the way I want to be treated but the way he treated me and his insurance. He just wanted a quick payout. Nationwide wanted me to admit fault immediately. There has to be an investigation. Because of Nationwide and the Bully in Mesa, AZ, I my insurance declared me 100% at fault. I was cited by the police and went to traffic school based on what the jerk said but the jerk was the only person the police got a story from. I've been hit 3 times before in which I was stopped, but not the first person as I was stopped maybe 3rd car behind and I exchanged phone numbers because I wasn't going to make a big deal about my old car with a slight scratch on my car despite they were 100% at fault.

I remember that the last time the lady blamed my shoes but that didn't play a role since I was stopped and she was on her cell. Her insurance paid out and she was at fault and she apologized. Her Mercedes poked a hole in my rear. I never called the police but I exchanged insurance information. I could have been an ** and called the police and gotten her cited and declared whiplash, etc, and made money. Nationwide "is on your side." Ya, they are on their client's side by bullying the other party and getting the claim settled as an "at fault" before leaving even though the other party is 100% co-operative and proved having insurance and apologized for their side of it. I could have gotten the cops to cite him for not slowing down, honking (that's not a way to avoid an accident by the way-it's a bully method to say "get out of my way as I have the right of way and I'm not going to slow down or swerve to avoid you".

I would never use this company. They don't use proper methods to be fair to both parties. They get the other party and bully them to admit fault with the police. I couldn't believe their customer said that, "Don't worry, they will just cite you and get your insurance because my car has over 200K miles and it's only worth $2K and my insurance would total this piece of 2005 crap." WE both had Nissan Altimas. I got hurt the most. He got a scratch and could drive away but my 2009 was totaled and it counted against me after 20 years of driving.

I learned something after this "Get a Dash Cam" and other features to protect yourself and declare point of impact because he was speeding. I allow a lot of time before I make a right turn. I am not providing receipts because it's already in a database and I don't want it anywhere else. It's been 6 weeks now and I still don't have a car to drive. I was unable to work or go to school as I sit at home because of this.

For instance my online quote for my car and home insurance was about $200 less per year than with my other insurance company and with slightly better insurance coverage. However, after an exterior home inspection my home insurance raised $200 and for some odd reason my auto insurance increased to what my prior insurance premium was. The net increase per year was $400. I recently cancelled my auto and home insurance and hooked up with another reputable insurance carrier where my auto insurance is $300 less and $100 less than Nationwide and my auto coverage is 2x what Nationwide offered. It's the company with the red umbrella.

We have had Nationwide auto & home insurance for several years with no claims on homeowners and one claim for an uninsured motorist, not at fault accident. They had been consistently increasing our rates by $100 every 6 months for a while, but then in September 2017 they increased our auto by $100 per month. We started shopping around and found cheaper insurance and called our local agent Janet to give her one last chance to reduce our rates. Janet told us what she had previously told us 3 other times and said she couldn't.

My husband cancelled both policies at the end of September to avoid a new policy starting on October 1st. Our local agent never cancelled the policy and Nationwide sent us a big bill because they wrote a new policy and expected us to pay. My husband finally called them back after they kept sending bills, and had to send them our new Amica policies to prove we had a new policy. He forwarded an email he had sent Janet and they said they would cancel the policies but we still owed $37.85. I paid the $37.85 even though I didn't feel I should, I had made my last payment on the old policy, so how did I owe anything?

That was in January 2018, and now today (2/18/18) I receive a notice from a collection agency that I owe $25 for my auto policy, I never received a bill for this, and how do I owe anything when I made the last payment on the old policy. I bet if I would have had a claim from Hurricane Harvey and hadn't paid my bill for the new policy starting 10/1/17 I wouldn't have had coverage, but since I didn't they conveniently write another policy and expected me to pay for it.

I also believe they thought I couldn't get another policy in my area due to the hurricane, I just had to wait a month so they could see I didn't file any claims with Nationwide and Amica was happy to have my business. My credit is always in the upper 700's to lower 800's, so finding someone else isn't an issue. Nationwide doesn't reward you for being a loyal, claim free customer. Instead they continue to increase your rates until you are forced to shop around for other insurance. Amica was able to provide the same coverage for $100 less than what I was paying for just car insurance, almost $400 less a month in total.

When my mom added my stepdad's insurance, they charged us a monthly fee of 1,433.97. When we called, a Nationwide agent did not ask us permission to add my step-dad on our policy. The agent never had the compassion to call us and let us know.

My agent's name was Jessica. When we removed my stepdad's car, and we left MY car, that had been on the same insurance for almost 2 years. Nationwide increased MY insurance from 119.09 to 199.09 per month!!! They started a new policy WITHOUT my consent, and added a different driver WITHOUT my consent. They are terrible people, and don't care. They are scamming you. They are trying to raise your insurance and then come up with dumb excuses so you pay MORE. I believe in an insurance company that is not owned by stockholders. Nationwide is owned by policyholders. Not answering to stockholders makes a big difference, ask Allstate. They told me to "sue them", when I had an accident, when I just wanted approx 5,000.00 to cover my medical expenses that were above and beyond my medical coverage. They played hardball, and I sued and won. The poor gal who rear-ended me was now going to be sued by Allstate, (we both had Allstate), to recoup the losses. So Allstate had to answer to its Stockholders and explain why they took someone, as myself to court, but it was a risk they took, so I will stay with Nationwide, who does not answer to stockholders.

Once the police gave us her insurance info with Nationwide, I called them and they were very courteous, helpful (rental car and damage evaluation arranged same day), and they were extremely prompt for processing the claim.

The payment for our wrecked SUV was received in about two weeks (mail caused some delay) with ample time left on the car rental (at their expense) to find a new vehicle. We were continually updated and they were always available and responded quickly when called or emailed. We are extremely impressed with this company. We have State Farm, but after seeing how well Nationwide handled this claim, we are considering a change if their rates are as good as their customer service.

My ConsumerAffairs complaint is in reference to three separate insurance claims with Nationwide Insurance. After working with Nationwide to get my car repaired for an accident with several impact points (hence multiple claims), for which I was NOT at fault, Nationwide recommended an auto body shop on their preferred vendor list that had no idea how to deal with my specific BMW make/model (their head technician told me he Googled how to repair my car on an Internet message board full of car geeks).

My car has not been properly repaired; the back bumper is incorrectly fitted and will cost thousands to fix, the sunroof motor is not properly functioning post-impact, and I have three spark plugs that immediately began to misfire after the accident. Combined, I expect these issues to cost at least $2,500 to repair properly. None of these post-accident issues have been addressed in good faith by Nationwide Insurance and my Austin, TX representative, Kimberlee **.

After working with Kim for 2-3 months, I feel she is not acting in good faith with my insurance claim. My car has several thousand dollars' worth of repairs that have not been addressed by Nationwide, and I've properly paid all my deductibles under my insurance policy, but I've been left with a BMW that is not driveable post-accident due to the rear collision impact causing the car's engine to consistently misfire. On top of this, my assigned Nationwide representative (Kimberlee **) in Austin, TX has been rude, belligerent, and dismissive during the 2-3 months I've been working with her, and she has deliberately not acted in good faith with my insurance claim.

She has also denied me the ability to discuss a Diminished Value claim with her, which I qualify for in Texas due to the diminished resale value of the car. Therefore, I expect Nationwide to act in good faith and finish repairing my car, and I expect reasonable compensation for the diminished resale value of my car. I am happy to provide supporting documentation for the diminished value of my car, as well as all documentation during the repair process. I have already had an auto shop of my choosing, which specializes in BMW repair, to diagnose the remaining issues and finish the repairs.

I have legal standing to file two lawsuits -- one for Insurance Bad Faith, the other for Diminished Value -- but I would rather come to an amicable resolution. My desire is to have my car 100% repaired at a shop of my choosing, and to be paid a reasonable sum for the diminished resale value of the car. From this point forward, I am also requesting a new Nationwide representative who is respectful and acting in good faith. I have every text message with Kimberlee ** saved on my phone, and I can provide concrete proof of her being rude, belligerent, disrespectful, and dismissive throughout the process. But most importantly, my car needs to be 100% repaired immediately, so I have a working mode of transportation. Thank you.

They continued to charge us for a totaled car to be insured on our policy for 2 months even after I called to have the car removed several times. Then I got a letter in the mail telling me that the policy on the totaled car was renewed and I was being charged almost $100 more that month for the renewal process and the premium. And every time I called I got a complete run around from every person that I spoke to. And then when I asked who I should complain to I was given an 800 number that didn't work. Was with another insurer for 16 years, never heard excuses from them about raising my rates like they have done at Nationwide. They gave me 0 explanation that was logically correct. They said my "discounts" though still applied fall off over time (as a diminishing %), which I can see maybe 1 (new car discount), but the other one of being a loyal customer to my previous insurer for over 5 years, makes no sense. Basically saying we don't value you being a loyal customer...

My bill went up 8%, they just kept repeating themselves and couldn't give me a correct amount of what the discounts actually took off in the first place. We know they see the % and charges, but they kept saying they don't know. It is quite funny how insurance companies do this and get away with it. It's like they lock you in low rates then jack them up, doesn't matter I have 0 accidents for 10 years, or 0 tickets of any kind for 10+years. They just continue to make up excuses to change my rate. They said my rates will continue to increase till I become a 5 year customer. Let see 8% first change, so if I wait to see 2nd change... Seems their 15% discount for 5 year loyalty customer isn't worth waiting around for. I regret changing from my previous insurer.

They said all insurers do this over the phone (kept repeating themselves), does it make sense in their head to say that? So if all gas station clerks shot every customer to be sure they weren't gonna be robbed make sense too? I would suggest retraining your employees with better phrases so they don't seem stupid or how about not rip people off?

I was going back and forth with the agent about what they had done at Nationwide. Someone made these changes to this account. I told him I never removed the car that was on my account. Only the one that was added in December 2016.

I told him why I would remove a vehicle that I was still driving. I told him you mean to tell me that all this time I was driving and I was not protected that’s just ridiculous. Then after all that was my Nationwide on my side. I don’t think so. On February 4, 2017, after adding my car back to the policy I was then charged 850.40. What the heck, where did they get off triple charging me for something they did.

I never received a notice about this vehicle being removed from my policy. Any other changes I did, I received an email for removal and other changes. The only time I received changes about this vehicle was when the agent told me that I had removed this vehicle and I was right. I was not fairly being cared for as a long time customer.

I left this company who wanted to overcharge me a ridiculous cost for them removing a vehicle that should not have ever been removed. After this, no one from this company bothered to call me to explain these charges that jumped from 232.70 to over 800.00 dollars. Nationwide didn’t even bother to send me a letter about this matter. I’ve never had time to dispute these charges other than with the agent that did not care. The next time I knew anything about Nationwide after I had switched to another carrier was October 18, 2017, from my credit report.

I always thought you are given an opportunity to reply to something you don’t agree with. I was never given that chance. Nationwide does not help their customers even long-term customers especially if they are in the wrong. I would be wary of this company. You might get charged for something you didn’t do and then if you decide to take your business to a company that will respect you; you might pay for it with your credit.

I read few reviews and I have similar and worst experience with Nationwide especially regards to claim and increase rate after you file claim and using excuse saying in my location general rate increase. They want charge me $1300 a year full coverage for 2002 car which is ridiculous. Not even that each time you call each employee will give you different rate and they all stick to each other and lie non stop and ignore your concern and complain and prove you they are right after thousands of email to make to frustrate and you accept their lies as they are true. Strange! Top to bottom, all employees from CEO to Vice President without reading your email and concern they agree to their employees and I do have a doubt someone who says he is Vice President, is really a president.

I had car accident front end in May and their adjuster came to my home saying it's $1149 front end damage and should accept as taxi driver insurance will not accept their fault and made me accept saying he will add more funds if I get new estimate any time and it is more to fix. I was diagnosed cancer and was in trip each week two hrs out of town and new in new city plus no one to support or caregiver. Do no time to fix my car. In July end I had second minor accident while I was parking in hospital parking lot. And other driver refused to call police being busy. I called my insurance with accident pic which is not more than $600 st rear end.

Adjuster told me to take my car their collision place and so I did. Same adjuster who don't have his office he went to collision lot and didn't allow them to write their estimate due to two reason. One was I did not fix my car after first accident and second was shop have to charge them to write estimate. So he decided to hurt me saying car is in total loss and can't drive. Fact is I can drive my car very good without any problem. And later I fixed my car paying more adding new brakes and new bumper after body fixed.

But non stop emails including upper level management never ended since July and initially said they will send $1150 check including deductible giving me condition to send my title after signing and surrendering them. I send copy of title via email. J received email of his another employee saying he send me $650 check and will get salvage title in mail. I disagree as they supposed to send $1150 and they all ganged up and gave bunch of excuse saying he mean this and that and have to check and wait till they win that case to get $500 back to me.

That means they have me $650 for total car loss for 2002 Honda Civic. But they are saying first accident damage was not repaired timely before second accident so they have to add first and second accident payment with total loss damage as if $1769 for two accident equals total loss rate while that car value is $3000. Their new excuse paint of car faded and hood is not good.

They changed my coverage with $5 extra then $1 extra and when I changed to liability that change never been affected till I had thousands of emails and calls while they removed my funds automatically for full coverage from my bank when automatic fund removal was dismissed month ago. They have me so much stress and forcing me to handover salvage title when my car is not salvage and drivable and fixed. If anyone wants to file lawsuit against this insurance I can join you all. I am also canceling this policy next month.

Most important when I got new quote first time, they charge me $20 extra for ticket which will fall in 7 days and will reduce to $20 less. I called many times but my call was never answered and when I reported this to Dane management team they gave new excuse saying rate was not quoted due to ticket and it was right quote. If anyone love to learn how to lie, join this Nationwide team and make billions of dollars. They all should get locked up in jail.

I would like to express my disgust with my most recent experience with Nationwide Insurance, my FORMER insurance carrier, for over 15 years. My purpose here is to inform any customer who may be considering contacting them for new insurance, or to even communicate with any current issues. One question: Did someone here get Dale Jr's cellphone? I only ask because I don't see him representing this company with the song "Nationwide is on your side" anymore. Now, I see the guy from Wild Animal Kingdom (or something like that) and let me tell you, the experience I went through on 10/12/2017 left me feeling like I was stuck in a jungle, full of wild animals, naked and afraid!

Having recently become unemployed, my employer went bankrupt, and closed, I needed to investigate a lower cost for my Auto Coverage. I got a quote online, that was AMAZING! The quote offered me a monthly savings of well over $80 a month, with better coverage! So I accepted and started the process to obtain this amazing deal. As I went through the online chat, and registration process, my amazing quote went up by over $25 per month? How can that be I chatted? There is a "claim" on your record, of $200, over the "threshold" from 9/2016.

Okay, in Sept 2016, I got hit by a City Bus. Police report filed, investigating officer clearly indicated Bus Driver at fault. As a responsible person, I called Nationwide to simply report the incident in case any problems came up later. My first words were "I am not filing a claim. The city will be covering all of my damages." Two days later, I'm at work, and a guy walks into my place of business. He says “I'm with Nationwide. I have inspected your damages, and here's a check to settle your claim." and lays it on the counter.

WHAT! I said, “I did not file a claim!” Well, he says, “It shows a claim on my end, and this check takes care of it.” and he left. It was an ugly situation, too much to re-live here. Fast forward to the present. I call Nationwide. Remember, they are on "my side"...lol. A representative answers the phone. I didn't bother with her name as, I had no intention of speaking to her. She verified all my information (they know who you are the moment you call via your phone number). “The recording says we show the first three letters of your last name…” blah blah blah. I said, “I have a problem to involved and detailed to have to go over with more than one person, please transfer me to your supervisor.”

Her reply, "I'm sorry Mr ______, we do not allow call transfers to a supervisor." "WHAT! You are one of the largest insurer's in this nation. I've been your customer for well over 15 years, and you're telling me I can't speak to a supervisor? That's absurd!" Her reply, "I didn't say you couldn't speak to a supervisor, I will send a message, and someone will call you back within 24 to 48 hours.”

My blood pressure is at about 200/150 now. I said, okay, send the message, I'm going to hang up and call my state insurance commissioner in the meantime, so I would suggest my return call takes place within the shortest time humanly possible. To my shock, right after speaking to the commissioner's office, my phone rings and it's Nationwide! Fantastic I thought, someone there gets it! It was another representative, happy to tell me that they have the name and number for the person I can speak with! I am elated! "You need to speak with Brenda **," and they gave me her number! I said THANK YOU! Ended the call, and immediately called Brenda... I can't put quotes on this one cause I can't remember exactly what I heard but... “Hi, you have reached Brenda **, I am currently out of the office until Monday, October 16th, please leave your name and number...” blah, blah, blah. Okay... blood pressure probably 260/200 now!

Low down, sneaky. Think you’re fooling me. Really ticks me off. I wonder how long it took them to find someone who would be inconveniently "unavailable"? I finally got my issue resolved, with the help of the only two people who seemed to be real human beings, but only after threatening again regarding my conversation with the state insurance commissioner. I have one question for anyone reading this. Is this the kind of company you want to do business with?

    Enough said!

Worst experience ever!!! Went online to file claim for windshield... No return email or phone call... Called 2 weeks later. I was transferred to Safelite to file the claim. Was informed it would be 4 days to bring the car in or 5 days to have mobile install. Wanted to get the work done right away so I opted to have a third party perform the work. Was told that I would have to wait for someone to get back with me... I explained that wouldn't work and I wanted to speak with someone who could help me now. After no less than 6 transfers later Jane called me back with a claim number and reference number. She informed me to give the information to the vendor. Had the windshield ordered and replaced the next day. That's when the fun began. "On your side glass" called myself and the policyholder multiple times. Unbelievable. Work done on Wed. Glass company was told on Mon. that the claim was denied.

I have never and I mean never heard of a glass claim on a windshield being denied. As a matter of fact I don't even have glass coverage with GEICO and they replaced a windshield for me out of goodwill. 26 plus years in the Automotive industry and this is by far the worst experience ever with an insurance company. Spoke with Mikelle at SafeLite Solutions and she informed me that the work was denied because the work was performed before an adjuster could inspect the windshield. Sounds to me that claim was denied because Safelite didn't do the work. Oh and Mikelle's supervisor Lisa only works Mon-Fri 7 am to 3 pm Eastern Standard time. That's 4 am to noon for us here in the West. No one higher than Mikelle available to speak with.

I am actually a Geico customer, but was recently rear-ended by a Nationwide customer and the process of dealing with them has been incredibly frustrating. I first received a call from a Nationwide claims expert last week from a blocked phone number. I don't answer blocked calls, so she left me a message and asked me to call back and leave a message with my claim number and some good contact times. I did this immediately and said I was available for the rest of the day. No callback. She then called me back the next day, and I missed the call. Her exasperated sounding message said "sorry I missed you, I'll try again tomorrow." Tomorrow? Really? So I immediately called back and said "hey I'm here and ready for the rest of the day, so please call me back." No call.

I called back later that day and let me tell you that you shouldn't expect to get a live person on the phone when you call Nationwide. She was of course "away from her desk again." The weekend arrived and so I received no further contact from Nationwide until I got a call from a number that wasn't blocked, but I was at work. Apparently my claim had been reassigned to a new rep. I again tried to call back but got no answer so I left a message. This morning I called and got the usual answering machine. We'll see if I get the randomly timed single call back today, but I assume if I miss it and even call back within minutes of when they called, that I'll be talking to an answering machine. Unbelievably frustrating. I get the sense they don't want to help. So glad I'm with Geico.

They wouldn't accept me because I carry an SR22. Now the SR22 is not the problem necessarily; it's the fact that their automated system ASKS SPECIFICALLY "Do you carry and SR22" in the first 5 minutes of your quote. Perhaps they should have notified me at that moment... that their company flat out refuses to accept them; so I didn't waste anymore time with them? Ridiculous and false advertisement at its best.

Somewhere in Downtown Columbus Ohio (Nationwide has several buildings) they have bike guards. Apparently they patrol the streets. Last August, we were sitting in front of the BWC building on Spring Street when about seven or so bike guards surrounded us. One became verbally abusive and accused us of shooting up heroin. It was a Saturday afternoon. Everything was closed. There were no other cars around us. No people walking. My husband was headed into his office just to check on some things. I admit things got bad in a hurry. My husband was trying to get out of his car, but the guards surrounded him and one began yelling at him. I know Columbus has issues with gangs. I thought they were a gang since they never identified themselves.

There was no way to know who these guys were. They were all wearing black and riding black bikes. As one yelled at my husband and accused him of shooting me up with heroin, I became frightened. I jumped out of the car and dialed 911. I also yelled at these guys to leave at once. But one continued to claim that they saw my husband shoot me up with heroin. We are in our 50's. We've never used drugs. Never! With all the police shootings going on during that time period, I had good reason to believe these guys might have guns, and they might use them. This was all caught on video.

A week or so later I went to the Nationwide headquarters in Downtown Columbus. Nationwide denied these were their guards. I confirmed with police that they are Nationwide guards. My understanding now is that Nationwide reviewed the video (this info came from a source I can't name on here) and claimed that they would use this video as a training session. My belief is that these guys are complete frauds. It was a very quiet day in Downtown Columbus. The police even agreed that it was very strange that this situation occurred. We believe we were targeted as a training session. There were several guards, but only one of them spoke while all the others just surrounded us and blocked my husband from leaving the car.

Police did finally catch up with these guys and they admitted they were Nationwide guards. They also claimed they were in training. I have an issue with Nationwide or any company targeting people on the streets and using them for training purposes. I want answers to my questions, but Nationwide will not give a contact for this type of issue. We live close to the site that this situation occurred and every day is a reminder of what happened that day.

I no longer wish to speak with anyone but the Corporate Office. Please, do not have anyone from Raleigh, Fayetteville, China Grove, Ohio (specifically, S.F), or Richfield to contact me. I realize the Corporate Office is in Columbus, Ohio.

Though S. (Claims Manager of Raleigh) called wishing for a settlement number($), I was not prepared to give her one at the time of the conversation; this morning. And although C.P (Claims Representative of Raleigh) attempted to have the deposit waived for the rental vehicle and informed me all seven of Nationwide's representatives have their own specialty to discuss; right now SF (the Adjuster from Ohio) has caused frustration and agitation. He states my vehicle assessment is $1,429 after the deductible of $250 even though his comparisons from Florida and Delaware are $4,000 for an 05 Kia with 174,000 miles.

He went on to state there were further damages to the doors, that I did not have upon releasing the vehicle to R&L Towing (of Richfield) who transferred the vehicle to Copart (of China Grove). He also deducted $600 for paint peeling due to age and cited "he was doing me a favor" because the original cost of paint for the entire vehicle was $1,200. This is versus the 8hours cited on the vehicle estimate.

Let's calculate his numbers: $4,000 comparison - 600 paint deduction - 250 deductible. By my calculations, this would render $3,150 for the vehicle assessment. Yet, my deductible does not apply because it was a "Hit and Run" from another Nationwide customer who was arrested and the insured was his father. Therefore totaling $3,400, if I believed anything SF had to say about paint cost. Verifying the estimate from CC (the Adjuster from Fayetteville), this is the Adjuster who relayed this information to him; I do no trust or believe the word of an Ohio Adjuster who has not been in the presence of my vehicle but cites that of a PDF file as if were gospel.

Furthermore, the PDF does not cite damage to both door handles, its states damage to the front door. So I question who is lying; Copart, Fayetteville or Ohio. And why is Copart relaying information to Fayetteville (to CC, Adjuster Fayetteville) to be sent to Ohio (SF). Do you see my current frustration with Nationwide Insurance Company?

My comparison is of a NC vehicle prior year, more mileage at $3,999. I also did Copart, your salvage company's comparison nationwide. Similar comparisons across the board reflect $4,000 as SF himself, quoted. Be it from Ohio, Florida, Delaware or North Carolina ($4,000). So as asked by S. (Claims-Manager), she desired a number for injuries sustained as a result of the "Hit and Run" by BF; specifically soft tissue neck and back injuries from my medical report and therapy for my child. I found two legal comparisons, should we elect to go to court. To the left is ** and to the right is **. My daughter suffered emotional trauma and sought medical help. I cannot put a dollar figure on being scared of what may occur due to the reckless driving of BF or anyone else she may come in contact with.

    S. (Claims Manager, Raleigh) requested a number($) for settling this claim and CP (my Nationwide Representative) stated RT (representative for BF, son of insured and Ms F) will be meeting tomorrow to go over the circumstances that caused him to hit our vehicle, flee the scene, have his father assist him with aiding and abiding and ultimately, his arrest. So to whomever; here are numbers($) you can forward to Nationwide (c/o: RT and Policy-F). Property Damage of 05 Kia Rio: $3,999. Bodily Injury for Headaches, Soft Tissue Neck and Back Injuries: **. Supplementary: To be determined.

Please thank SF. His attitude, concern, and business ethics lead me to go above and beyond to collect the necessary data for my injuries and cases reflecting that of a Hit and Run and Soft Tissue Neck and Back Injuries with Headaches and my medical report to confirm. As I stated, I believed this claim would be simple; the vehicle, the injuries and the contact with my insurance company, Nationwide Insurance. What I did not believe would occur is seven representatives with different specialties attempting to confuse me into a half-ass claim. If you desire, please have someone from your Corporate Consumer Complaints Office or your Corporate Office contact me to settle my claim. I will publish this on the ConsumerAffairs website and update the NC Attorney General, NCDOI, and BBB about the current ethics and company standards of Nationwide Insurance Company.

They flatly refuse to reinstate and now I'm out of auto insurance. I was not even out for 10 days laps from my payment. With AAA they took care right away if with in a month. I am asking for everyone's help and I never do this so please read and please share. My Dad died on January 1st 2017 and I'm sure most of you know this by now. There is a company that everyone needs to know about and a policy that everyone needs to be aware of. My Dad a few days before his death paid in to Nationwide Insurance $642.20 to pay his policy ahead on all 4 of his cars. NEVER PAY YOUR INSURANCE AHEAD. If something happens to you your money was wasted!

I called this company a few days after his death because I noticed this and asked what I should do and told them he had passed away. I was told that even though I was the only child and he was divorced that I needed to wait until I had a copy of his death certificate and until I had papers saying I was the administrator of the estate to cancel the policy, and in the meantime I had to let the cars sit. I do what I'm told at this point, and as most of you know it takes months to have this done. After everything is said and done I hand in the paperwork to them and later receive a check for $94 and of course I question them as to why it is so low when my dad had just paid them this money only a days before his death.

At first I'm told it was a mistake that the date they filed the paperwork to cancel the policy was put in as the death date instead of January 1st and they will correct it in 5 days. I wait over two weeks and call back. Then I'm told they are requesting that I sign the papers again. (No one called to tell me, I called them, so I was just waiting.) I go in and sign the papers and do everything the same as the first time and make sure again they have my phone number. I'm told to wait 5 days again - no problem it will be corrected. (Again a couple weeks later I call to check in.) I'm told I need to give them proof of insurance that the cars are all now insured. I drive back down and drop off this paperwork as well. (Now keep in mind they told me that I had to wait to cancel this policy. I wanted to put these cars from the beginning on my policy.)

I am now being told that they can only back up to the date that we insured them! When they told me not to insure them! The woman on the phone even told me to wait to insure them because my insurance company would be cheaper and our money would go further once I transferred them over to our policy. So I asked them who they were insuring because we were not on my Dad's policy. I also said had we driven the cars and wrecked them they would have told us that we weren't insured and that they wouldn't have paid out for that. I was told by them today 6/15/17 had a tree fallen on my Dad's car he would have been insured!

I said "okay my Dad, a dead man, would have been insured not us so you still wouldn't have paid us for the tree and how often does that happen?" He then tells me that I'm making assumptions that they would have paid out and that in the state of Ohio all vehicles must be insured at all times and that I need to have my insurance company call their insurance company to verify how long these cars were insured. However my car insurance is much cheaper than theirs and I wanted it on my insurance from the beginning which they held me up from doing.

So I guess they get to keep the money for the cars they told me not to insure and to let sit because I did what they said and I didn't switch them over to our policy right away! Never pay your car insurance ahead for the year if you pass away your money is gone! Your family will not see this money and you threw it out the window! NEVER USE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE. THEY WILL NOT BE THERE FOR YOUR FAMILY IN THE EVENT OF YOUR DEATH!

Not only did I report the accident including who the driver was, who was at fault, etc. But also, I sent medical bills for the driver on my policy! (Right, not me!) Furthermore, it is their responsibility to follow up via police reports if there are any questions concerning the driver of a vehicle, or other accident information! Will Nationwide fix their error? Of course NOT!! You have to go through some third party reporting company where it will take a couple months to MAYBE be corrected! Also, filing the claim with Nationwide was relatively easy. I just called their toll free number and a friendly representative helped me through the process over the phone and soon it was filed.

However, the service I get from Nationwide is average, but I want above and beyond! Because hit or miss. Some of the agents are extremely helpful, while others I have had have been rude or unhelpful. They were supposed to put the customer above all else but I think Nationwide is profit first, customer second. Once you have been a customer of theirs since the 90s they know they have you and they quit trying so hard. They also do not like it if you want to get your car fixed at a shop that is not on their preferred care list, that is a big no no. I recently experienced a total loss vehicle from an accident. At the scene the police officer indicated it was the other driver's fault. I contacted Nationwide to report the claim, and the agent asked if I wanted to go through Nationwide or the other driver's insurance company. The claim agent went on to explain that he could make it faster, but, I would have to wait for the deductible. I indicated that would be okay. Nationwide uses a company CCC One for their total vehicle loss claims. CCC One started out by using a statewide average value for my auto. I asked Nationwide how they obtained that value only never to be addressed or answered. Then CCC One determined an adjusted value for a comparable automobile on a car lot.

I asked how CCC One determined the value and was told I had to have a conference call between myself Nationwide and CCC One. Nationwide would not give me the mathematical formula used to arrive at a value. This went on for several weeks, until I paid an auto appraiser $ 45 to arrive at a range of value of between 9,000 and 12000. Nationwide/CCC One had put a value of 7300 for my car, while I had a value of 9800, a big difference. I certainly was not going to accept the Nationwide/CCC One value so I contacted the other insurance company who used an AudaExplore Autosource market-driven valuation which put a value on my car of 10396. Be careful if you encounter CCC One for a valuation, run away because they will underestimate your loss by 30%.

A-OK motors on Washington Avenue did the work and did all talking negotiations with Nationwide. As a result we have our great Subaru back to drive.

However; they could have cared less about my injuries which were NOT life threatening but my neck had to be supported with collar for two months afterwards and the scars from all the glass in my face because the back window broke instantly and thrown forward to front windshield which stopped the glass allowing it to only come back in at me. Then in a period of 3 years, I had about 3 incidents where the tire and wheel had to be replaced because I always scraped the wheel against curbs. I have since learned that curbs are not my friends. Also, I go out to see what had happened to my car and this person had ruined my front end of the car and scrapped the wheel and the tire which had to be replaced.

So I was dropped by Nationwide when I reached 60 years of age. Nationwide is simply a company that discriminates against older women driving and will probably drop at least 1/2 of their customers because of curbs or having been run off the road onto a concrete barrier and back down again. Even after almost a life time of driving experience with this company I had excellent insurance and excellent premiums very low. It was very sad that I knew why they dropped me. Is it a common practice in the insurance industry for insurers to take it upon themselves to add drivers to insurance policies they think they live at our address? Nationwide sent us a letter informing us that our rates are going up because they have reason to believe they are a resident of our household or have frequent access to our vehicle(s). This individual stayed with us for about 3 months last summer because she had nowhere to stay while she was home from college. They evidently found her name connected with our address somehow and assumed she still lives here and drives our cars (she has always had a car of her own to drive).

The Nationwide agent I spoke with indicated that the burden of proof is on me to provide some evidence that this individual lives elsewhere. I think I can manage this, but I'm wondering what my recourse would be if I was unable to, or if we no longer had contact with this person. This seems like an underhanded way of inventing customers to bill for.

Got a couple tickets in my late 20s, 1 or 2 in really early 30s. I just shopped around each time I needed to renew or whatever reason and went with the cheapest. Now, all that said, I now know I should've been with this place from the start. I understand they don't have like a stock thing or something (I don't know) but it's like they don't need to pay a big bonus to some big wig at the top? Like they're independently owned my wife just said. I'm not too bright as if you're still reading you have figured out I'm sure.

Anyway, the whole point is this - Nationwide is sweet! They have switched ins from probably 10 different cars for me in the last 5 years or so as I have bought a couple convertibles and ended up selling them to people who wanted me to go buy and fix me up another one, then give them mine! SO I sometimes end up calling Nationwide once or twice a year some years to drop one and transfer the ins to another one I ended up buying. But the payments are less than everyone and they got your back when I was hit by someone!

Now, check this out - they hit me, they got the ticket, yet their ins co tried to get the ticket changed to MY FAULT or at least a no fault so they wouldn't have to pay to fix my car!!! Why? Why put everyone through all that when it was OBVIOUSLY their drivers fault?? Now that's an ins co you don't want! I don't think I can say their name but it rhymes with, um... try this, "wurst coruptnence" or "zirst conceptance"? You probably get it! SO, to sum up this weird review, I know for a fact Nationwide was the best choice I could've made prior to getting them and I wish I would've had them from the time I was 16! They're somehow cheaper than anyone out there, even the generals and the acceptances ins companies that are supposedly cheaper.

Just ask the guy who hit me, on accident, how inconvenienced his life became after his "zurst noceptance" ins co wouldn't pay for what was clearly his fault. He got the ticket. He admitted he never saw me. He apologized. It was only a regular type of accident, not some crazy wreck where people got put in hospitals for weeks, etc. But they had him take off work over and over for appointments to meet with some of them. Their agents, claims people or whoever, their in house lawyers, had him taking depositions, court dates that were changed or cancelled at the last minute, asking (more or less telling him he said to me) asking him to lie, pressuring him to say this and that, and when it was finally over, he hated that ins co and said he wished he'd have NEVER got them.

It costed him more money in just missed work alone than he saved! ALL because his ins co was trying to get out of paying for something little! Not big mind you! Just a typical accident where he was leaving a grocery store parking lot and hit me pulling into it from the main road. They tried and tried to get out of paying anything, and for no good reason other than to save money for their ceo's yearly bonus or something? To try to get a promotion in their co? Because their in house salary ins co lawyers and it don't cost the co nothing extra to continue to hassle everyone involved so that they MIGHT decide they've had enough and settle for pennies? Or even worse, just get so tired and frustrated with it all that they drop everything and pay for their own cars damage when they didn't even get the ticket?

That's what this place did to this guy that hit me, not sure if that's regular practice with these ins companies, but it certainly was with him and he so regretted having them! Phew! That took a lot out of me, remembering all that crap back then (2 years ago) And they drug it out the legal 3 years ins companies supposedly get to drag anything they want. They drag it to the last day almost! AND what's so crazy about it all (as if all that wasn't crazy enough) is that they charge people MORE than most good ins companies like Nationwide!

I'm sure there are negative reviews for Nationwide as there are for every company in the world. You can't please everybody, it's impossible. But if you just want ins that'll back you up, pay when it's your fault, not overcharge so that the big dog at top can get his 20 mill bonus every year, check out these guys. Why I wrote this review on this Saturday morning is because I just got an e-mail with the temp ins cards from a car I had them switch ins onto from one I sold the other day. It just got me thinking about how good these people have been the past 4 or 5 years. So I thought I'd look for somewhere to write a good review for them. I found this site. So I didn't plan this and I definitely don't work for any part of the company (if I did I'm sure this review would've been a lot more professional or less drawn out!) OH, and I learned one more thing, it pays to be with the same company for a long period of time as well.

You can tell in the way they treat you, the lower or better priced deals you get, and the getting to know them so you can know what to do most of the time to benefit you and your family. I've gotten my sister, girlfriend, other friends, and anyone else who ever asks for whatever reason to call Nationwide and they all end up getting them for their ins carrier. I got homeowners now, multi car, and a trailer I own out in the country with them now. I am sorry this review was so long if you're still reading it. But take it from me, this place called Nationwide is more than just legitimate, they're GOOD! (if not GREAT!) Good luck with what you're trying to accomplish.

I did not provide proof that the soon to be ex has insurance because I did not put him on the policy. I got my own policy last June and he cancelled ours. We live in different towns!! I called and they said, "I guess the letter could have been reworded." I said, "How do you reword cancelled???" They never wrote or called to ask why I had my own policy, just sent a nasty letter after 24 years!!!

I hope lots of people read this post. Filed a claim against a policyholder with Nationwide Insurance. The claim was denied, and the stupid reason I was told that since their insurer vehicle did not show damage. The claim was denied. There are witnesses to the accident but the adjuster named Erin ** denied it saying their policyholder vehicle didn't show damage because the tire caused the damage. Well if the tire caused the damage to my car why would there be damage on their policyholder vehicle?!!

Just because your policyholder vehicle did not get damaged is not a valid reason for paying this claim. But according to Nationwide who is NOT, I repeat NOT on your side this is a legitimate reason to deny the claim. Then she move to another reason for denying the claim saying the tire that hit my car did not show damage, well it rained several days before this smart adjuster looked at their policyholder vehicle so that is not a valid reason either.

If you have Nationwide care insurance I really feel your pain, seems to me the name of the game is to not pay valid claims. I have contacted the public relations department and I have read many, many complaints about this insurance company not paying valid claims. I will not give up! This is insane! and I will take it to the next steps if needed. Like say calling Six on Your Side here in Columbus where your headquarters are located and other actions if necessary. I get tired of being cheated by large corporations!!!! This is one reason the rich stay rich and the poor gets poorer!

Have had our car sitting in the repair shop for almost a month for an accident that was ANOTHER Nationwide policy holder's fault while, as we were told "Nationwide is waiting for the police report". Just yesterday a Nationwide adjuster tells me I should have filed a claim against my policy (when it was NOT our fault??), and "why did you abandon your vehicle at the repair shop instead of letting us know so we could assess the damage?" WHAT kind of idiotic, absurd statement is that, since we called our Nationwide agent the same day of the accident, and within about a day HE had it towed to a garage THEY recommended?

The adjuster claimed not to know anything about the collision repair center, but after calling the garage, I came to find out the garage repeatedly in the past few weeks contacted Nationwide adjusters, who kept saying, "not OUR liability". In other words, they wanted to blame me for NOT paying a $1000 deductible on my policy for someone else's carelessness, tried to saddle me with a blame of "not informing them", but HAD been contacted, but scattered away from their responsibility like cockroaches.

So, nothing has changed with my vehicles or driving record. However, my insurance rate is climbing and climbing and climbing. I have had this insurance with this company for 15 years. So, I called. What Nationwide had to tell me was that my rate was rising based on the driving records of others in my area and increased accidents and thefts. So, I did some research. Of course, I can't view other people's driving records, but since I live in a rural area, I checked out the other two. Both accidents and thefts are down and have been decreasing for the past several years.

So, my guess is that the actuary who is creating my rate has no idea where I am. Either way, the $1368 a year increase over the last 4 years finally tipped the scale. Loyalty can only last so long. By the way, we are claim free for 15 years. So they have just been collecting premiums for 15 years! That's a long time to be collecting money and doing nothing but jacking rates. Pretty disappointing.

I was a Nationwide customer for 12 years. 6 months ago I moved across the country. At that point I needed to update my policies. Auto motorcycle, drop homeowners and pick up renters insurance. Swapping over seemed simple, I set up auto pay and no account info had changed. 2 months later I called Nationwide to help me get my keys and wallet from inside my locked car. At that point they let me know that my policies had been canceled due to nonpayment, which infuriated me because of their clear difficulty finding my account. Picture me standing in the rain staring in the window at all of my information. I spoke to 5 different representatives that evening, each insisting I pay a bill before they would help me, refusing to understand that every bit of information was locked inside the car. Realizing Nationwide would not help me I demanded the representative cancel all accounts. And I called AAA, with whom I had no membership with.

Nationwide never called or followed up. Instead they sent me a bill for $42 and absolutely no explanation why I was being charged. I figured I'd wait to hear from them before I would address this charge (I gave them all the information to auto pay) but their silence turned into collections notices. And not just from one agency, I am now being chased by 2 different agencies CEP, and CCS each claiming I owe them approximately $300 and both promising to report this to ruin my credit.

I am reaching out for advice, I am afraid to confront the collections agencies for fear of harassment. And on the other hand Nationwide has absolutely no reason to entertain my situation, clearly because they sold the problem away. Nationwide was not on my side.

I had backed out of my parking space and stopped my car, preparing to switch from reverse to drive when a vehicle from the opposite side of the parking lot backed into my driver's side passenger door. I pulled my vehicle into a parking space to see what had happened. My son called 911. An officer from the local, rural police dept responded. He took information from myself and the other driver. At no point did he take a statement from myself or my passenger. I drove away from the scene and called Nationwide from my home. They asked for a statement from me but never asked for a statement from my passenger. They asked me to send them pictures of my vehicle and to get pictures of the scene if I could, which I did, and to send them to Nationwide. The other driver also had Nationwide.

After about 2 weeks they called my husband up and told him that they had determined that the other driver and I had backed into each other and that we were both at fault. No adjuster ever looked at my vehicle. No one talked to my passenger. They got it wrong. I have been a customer of Nationwide for many years and I am now actively searching for another insurance company. Claims processing was fairly easy. All I had to do was call, take a few pictures and everything was handled. I never had to go into the office or anything like that. It was awesome. I got full coverage for a premium price and mom always said you get what you pay for and I sure did. Awesome coverage, fast and accurate. You got to love Nationwide. I didn't have to pay a lot. I pay a premium price for this insurance. Even if it were a little bit more pricier I wouldn't mind because you get what you paid for and I want peace of mind. I want to know that everything is covered at a moment's notice. I can call them and everything will be settled fast, quick and in a hurry. I would rate customer service with 5 stars. I've already had to deal with claims forms and emails and customer service and everything was handled in a small amount of time. Customer service a plus.

I am extremely unhappy and disappointed with Nationwide. I switched over my auto and home policy for the convenience of saving money. However, my auto policy has been so mishandled from "home office" that I have been playing "catch up" with my payments since I was 3 months into my new policy and it's going into a year now. I have a local agent and she has been working every month trying to help me straighten out the issues and somehow the "home office" seems to not be able to get anything right. I really have had a terrible experience with Nationwide.

I really regret switching over auto insurance with Nationwide. What seemed like saving money has cost me over $600 in the month of November, and now they want to charge me over $400 in December; for mistakes the "home office" continue making month after month. On top of it all, my husband and I were involved in an accident in which we were not at fault and Nationwide really did a poor job handling our claim. Switching over to Nationwide has been a nightmare for me. Nationwide is very impersonal, very irresponsible and does not put customers first. They have made numerous mistakes in my policy and then charge me for their mistakes.

We are paying a little more than we would like but the coverage is better and with us having two kids we just like having the extra cushion in case something happens. Why I went w/ Nationwide' without checking the reviews first, I don't know but I paid $196 in July 2016. That was supposed to take me until Oct 2016, & after calling a few insurance companies prior, I felt I would go w/ this one. BAD idea! So I paid $200 to take me to Jan 2017 thinking I was good to go. All of a sudden I had to move to another city. Called Nationwide & they said I would have to pay $55 or my insurance would lapse. The increase was due to the move. What???

Furious, I called back and was told to pay by Dec 11 or it would lapse (by the way, the rep was dry & inconsiderate). I called Dec 1, 2016 & the automated said I owed $77 Nov 5, 2016. WHAT??!! I talked to another rep that said it was due to me being late. LATE?? After fussing about me feeling like I'm getting played, she said she would be willing to waive the $12 late fee. Today is Dec 7 & I just received a letter from Nationwide saying I owe $250 Oct 2016. I was so mad that Nationwide has stolen $400 from me. In anger I ripped it up!!!
