We had an easy experience applying for Generali Global travel insurance. We would recommend it to a friend. We hope we don’t need the insurance but if we do, we feel confident in this company. They had good reviews. Looking forward to the survey at the end of the trip.

Made the purchase on line and found the quotes and check out very user friendly. I did try to use the chat for a question that I later figured out and wasn't able to get someone, but turned out ok.

I would like to be able to designate a beneficiary. I didn't see that as an option when I signed up. I submitted an inquiry yesterday, but haven't received a response yet. Otherwise, the process seems to have gone very smoothly.

I did not get a callback until the following day. Initially the phone rang and rang into it finally allow for me to request a callback. I received a voicemail the following day apologizing for the delay. I had a question concerning insurance since I wanted to purchase a plan.

I needed to add the cost of our rental house to the policy amount add, the agent handled this with ease and professionalism. We have had a trip to Kenya planned for 6 months and as world events keep changing thought it was best to insure if the state department restrictions prevent our travel.

Fine process in completing the required information to receive a policy. Rate seems appropriate for the amount of cost for the trip. I would certainly recommend this company to family and friends in the future. The only complaint that I would have is the company fuel.

The online process to set up travel insurance was very easy. The site provided an explanation of the process and outlined what is and isn’t covered in each of their policies. I found it to be very user friendly. In addition, I like that there is a 10 day grace period after I purchase this policy so if I change my mind, or find better coverage, I have the option to get a full refund within the 10 days.

I always use Generali Global Assistance when traveling internationally. It is quick and easy, the rates are great and the coverage is excellent. I have never had to use it yet, fortunately, but it’s great knowing I have it! Also, I always have my trust attorney include it into my living trust in case any unforeseen accident were to occur - you can never be too careful!

Generali has the most affordable price. I buy travel insurance for every trip and the most recent one was a month ago for my trips to Canada and Mexico. I also get the car insurance and medical insurance in case something happens. My interactions with the representatives are great too. I filed one claim online about 4 years ago and the process went on smoothly with no issues. Somebody stole a camera from me, so they covered it and and it was resolved really quickly. Everything is smooth and I like Generali.

It wasn't clear that I could order a plan without my travel agent's product code. Even when I delayed a day to get it, your computer didn't accept it. So I just kept going and was able to complete my order. Thank you. Leonard

Generali has the best rates for all travel insurance companies and the best ratings compared to Allianz and all others. Spoke to customer service and they were quite efficient. This is my first time using them and hopefully will not need to file a claim. But, if I do I expect prompt and efficient service.

In August of 2019 I put a deposit down on a Carnival cruise and my tour guide took the money for insurance with Generali Global Assistance. (Claim #**) The cruise left Minneapolis Mn on February 1st 2020. My friend and I got up at 2am and got to the airport almost 3 hours ahead of time, even though this was only a domestic flight to Miami. Unknown to us, Sun Country has their international flights AND domestic flights on Saturday, and there were HUNDREDS of people in line.
After an hour, we started to panic. We told people in charge we HAD to get on that flight, but they said there was nothing they could do and that security was also backed up 45 minutes. We got to the check-in and even though they were holding the plane for an extra half hour they would not let us check our suitcases or board the plane. It was devastating, and there were many other people in the same situation.. all missing flights. In the back of my mind I knew I had insurance, so I was relieved somewhat. But guess what, after making copies of all the things they wanted, I was turned down for any kind of compensation because they do not cover, in their words, missing the plane due to "long lines". The airline admitted it was their fault, and refunded our tickets in cash. But still, Generali refuses to cover anything. Very aggravating. Never never use this insurance.

The process was fine. Seeming conflicts exist regarding cancellations mentioned for illness and quarantine and the Coronavirus outbreak; it’s a bit confusing. Other than that, I have no issues or concerns at this point. I am curious and would like more information regarding concierge services.

It took me two days to reach customer service to ask a few question before I place the order for the insurance. First day I waited 45 minutes on hold and finally left my phone # so customer service could call me back but no one did. Same thing the second day but this time someone did call back in an hour. Why is it so hard to reach anyone? If I was on a trip and needed to call will I be able to reach anyone. Having second thought about my trip insurance.

I've started using Generali Global as my travel insurance provider since 3 years ago. I got a cruise trip for myself and my family and I have Generali Global insurance for it. But due to the Corona virus, the cruise is cancelled. I'm asking Generali Global to give me the money back from the air fare, but they said no because I have to get doctor's papers. They said that I could get my money back if I'm sick or if something happened to my family, but they can't give me money back for the Corona virus. I don't understand and it's not fair that I paid 300 for a cover of 5,000. So, I lost the money. Next time, I don't want to buy any insurance because it's not helping us a lot. I lost money for nothing.

BEWARE! They will do everything possible to deny your legitimate claim. We missed a flight due to the cancellation of the rail service to Fumicino airport but Generali claimed our policy does not cover this because the actual train didn't break down, even though the railroad provided a letter stating that the rail service was cancelled due to equipment fire and train is not even mentioned in the text of the policy. Only after I had complained to the CA insurance commissioner did Generali changed their tune and paid out the insurance. Also policy coverage was insufficient to cover the cost of the replacement tickets due to the very low coverage limits. The online enrollment was easy but there needs to be an opportunity to enroll with individuals from different states. Since I was responsible for obtaining everyone on my trip, I had to enroll three different plans. Otherwise, I thought the process worked well.

We would get travel insurance for expensive trips and I heard about Generali through my travel agent. We filled out the forms, sent it in, got an invoice, and paid it. It was all done online and their rates are comparable to other providers. Hopefully, I never have to use it and that it would work and go smoothly when I need it.

I found the website very easy to navigate. I continue to buy travel insurance with the company based upon my experience when my passport was stolen in Rome. I receive immediate assistance while in Rome. The recovery of expenses was prompt. Of, course I was required to provide receipts to verify my expenses as a result of losing my passport. The whole process was quick and easy to do.

Compared travel insurance for an upcoming trip. Generali had the best price for coverage provided compared to other travel insurance providers. You were able to tailor the coverage to meet your needs. Like that you could add on car rental coverage only if needed. Sign up process was online and easy.

Four stars not five because I think a few examples of what constitutes pre existing conditions, and what does not - would be helpful. I am 71, and though I’m a cyclist, slim, very healthy, like many 71 year olds, I’m on blood thinners and had a stent put in 3 years ago. Pre existing condition? I cycle 80 miles a week!

Not good. First time I called no one returned my call although I left number. Second call was better. I'm a 77 year old grandma and not techie and needed some help. By time I finally reached someone to help, I had finally figured out process, although it took a great deal of my time. Would your grandmother be able to figure out the site info?

Our flight days have changed, and I am trying to update coverage dates with CSA. They sent a link, but link doesn't work. On phone hold for "customer service" for ONE HOUR AND 25 MINUTES, and still no real person. I gave up and emailed them. We will see if they respond to that.

I called many times to make modifications on the coverage date. But I waited on phone for long time and was hung up each time.... I was unable to reach anybody, which is very scary in case of any emergency. The customer service department should be able to be reached in case of emergency: this is a problem for customers.

Great service, disappointed couldn’t extend existing trip policy. Waited over 1 hour to reach a rep. This is very bad. I the past I never waited so long. I was on a cruise ship and the call was just too long. I understand the virus situation may have been a factor.

The travel agent introduced me to Generali and then we started to do it by ourselves. We requested the insurance by ourselves, not through the travel agent or the agent company. I had to submit a claim once and everything was fine. I'm happy with the insurance and I continue to use them.

I used Generali once and everything was perfect because I wasn't sick. When I travelled, I went to the doctor and then I called and spoke to Generali's customer service to see what will happen and how to do it. They were very nice and explained to me everything. And I didn't send any bill because my health insurance paid everything, so it was okay. Also, their prices are good compared to other places that I shopped.

Overall, a very good shopping and purchasing experience as regards travel insurance. The Generali website, while generally well-designed, could be better optimized, particularly for use on mobile devices like cell phones. A standalone Generali mobile app might be a nice idea, too.

Your written policies or contracts do not correspond to the information provided prior to selecting a plan. Information re. pre-existing conditions vary significantly. I read the policies for each type of plan to make sure I understood the definition of p-e.c. and the requirements for a waiver. The information I got from your sales team differed. Also, the sales team (and I spoke to 4 different persons) did not properly understand the definition of p-e.c., nor the waiver requirements. I wasted a huge amount of time getting accurate information; and I only found complete information under FAQS.

I made my purchase online but called in a couple of times and got different price quotes. First phone quote (after very long wait) cheapest but I had to disconnect. They told me to order online - that quote was higher. So later that night called again (again a long hold time) that quote was higher than both the online and 1st phone call. I purchased the online for sake of further delays. Hopefully this be worth my peace of mind.

There are a number of factors that go into a price quote but those shouldn't change within the same day. Picking up my Generali Global policy was very easy. It comes up online. There are three options and I can just pick whatever. Submitting a claim was pretty easy too. My husband found Generali when we were looking for travel insurance. We had a lot of interactions with them ‘cause we had a debacle of a holiday where we had to put in a whole bunch of claims. We submitted a claim online but there were also a lot of help on the phone. The claim took a while to be handled but it was a complicated claim, so they did really well. I would recommend them.

Website was easy to compare products. I'm traveling with a friend. We both selected the same policy for the same trip and submitted the same trip costs, however the cost of my policy was $12 more than the cost of his policy.
Thanks for your feedback. The travel insurance quote takes into consideration of a variety of factors. For example, if your friend entered a different trip cost, was of a different age, or even was leaving sooner, this could affect the pricing.

We've been doing business with Generali Global Assistance for years and everything has always been fine. We get travel insurance from them to give us coverage for catastrophic situations where we might need to be airlifted to a hospital because health insurance won't cover that. Going over their different packages was simple. I usually call it in and speak with somebody. I do it for a period of time during which I'll be traveling. We don't fly. We're usually driving and a lot of times, we're on a business trip visiting stores all around the country.

Generali Travel Online application is easy to fill up and clearly explained the scope of the policy. The cost is competitive compared to other travel insurance. I used to have CSA coverage in a previous trip and they settled my issues to my satisfaction. That is the reason why I opted to get my travel insurance again with CSA (now Generali Travel Insurance). I would highly recommend it to my friends.

Travel insurance to Siesta Key Florida. The process was very simple and required info was easy to supply. Last year we had a water break with our home and had to depart 2 weeks early from our rental. Our experience with Generali was positive and our lost income was returned. This caused us to be secure in the knowledge that any issue would be processed with little difficulty.

I was travelling with the family in a known developed country and I decided that I wanted to be covered in case of big issues. There are so many offers on the website, and apart from certain specific characteristics like deductibles, cap, or price, at the end of the day, a lot of them seemed off. I decided to go with Generali because of the reputation of the company. I also have had a working relationship with them since a long time ago. Everything was through the website and emails. At the moment, I need to see if I can get reimbursed for medical expenses in a hospital in Bangkok. But it’s easy to access the policy and follow up with the reception of the policy by email.

I am confirming that I received my policy. Also, while speaking to a representative, I noticed that your website says that civil disorder is covered by the policy; your representative pointed out that it is not. The policy says it is not a valid reason for cancellation. The website information may be misleading as in the section right above BAGGAGE, as a covered event, it lists Civil Disorder.

I've used Generali Global Assistance for the past six years every time I go on a trip out of the country. Their online process has been very easy for me when I purchase. I like the dollar amount of insurance I get for the money I pay. Most of the other companies only offer $50,000 while I can get a quarter of a million from Generali with $1 million worth of emergency service. They've also added a new policy which gives me $50,000 in coverage on rental cars, which is a nice little bonus for the same price. Our health insurance doesn't cover us when we go overseas. Getting Generali is a way to make sure that I can have enough money to cover to get me back to the States.

Updated on 01/15/2020: I finally received the check from Generali, so I am glad my claim has been resolved. I stand by my earlier email about the lack of communication from them and how I had to do all the follow up. At one point I left a message for a supervisor, who never returned my call. I have purchased numerous policies through this company, but have never had to process a claim. This experience has shaken my trust in this company.
Original review: I filed a claim with Generali in October. I first received an email asking me to take a survey on my experience, when I hadn't even gotten any communication from them yet about my claim. I then received an email that told me my claim was processed and a check was in the mail. I never received a check. I called them in early December to report that I had not received their check and they said they would put a stop payment on the check and reissue a new one. I called back later in the month and nothing had happened yet. In the meantime I hadn't received any communications from the company. I am the one always initiating the communication. I have now called a third time - it is mid-January - and have been told that the new check is in the mail and I should receive in in about a week.
I am extremely frustrated with this company. I feel they have been giving me such a run around with very poor communication and no follow up. Their customer service representatives are extremely polite and calm which gives the appearance that they are really trying to solve your problem, but in reality nothing seems to be happening. This is for a very small claim. I hate to see what would happen for a large claim. I will never buy travel insurance again from this company.

I always purchase travel insurance just in case, particularly if it's a cruise and if I get trapped out at sea where I can get sick and I need help. The price of Generali seems to be about in the middle. I feel like the coverage is fair. It gives decent coverage particularly on the evacuation. I submitted a claim before when it was still CSA. The process seemed a little tedious. You had to book a flight. You got reimbursed but I felt like it was a lot of paperwork to do, but that's been about 10 years ago. Generali can also improved more on the luggage, for lost luggage. I think all of the insurances are the same when it comes to hurricanes.

I was surprised that there was no way to write in my hotel name and cruise name. I would think you would want these details. Everything else was fine and easy to do. If I decide to rent a car am I correct in assuming I have coverage?

In regard to rental car coverage, it is included with the Premium Plan. It is an add-on coverage for Standard or Preferred. My sister-in-law who researched our insurance suggested that we purchased insurance from Generali. Since then, we've purchased insurance from them more than once. In the summertime, we were traveling in Southeast Asia and in Taiwan, my son got sick and our trip got interrupted. We also delayed coming back. Years ago, I traveled to Italy and I was staying in a hotel. I got a wake-up call and I slammed my eyeball into a floating end table. It was a terrible experience. I spent three days looking for an ophthalmologist and there wasn’t anyone qualified at any of the local hospitals that I had gone to. So, even though I had insurance at that point, I have to say it was really kind of useless because there weren’t any specialists around.
Because of that experience, I’ve always decided that I need insurance. I was in major cities in Italy and I was just amazed that it took me three days to find someone qualified to look at my eye. That time, I had to be totally in the dark. I had sunglasses and dishrags over my head so that I didn't get any light from anything. The travel company that I had booked my trip through asked if I would like to go home. I said "Yeah. I'd say so.". They sent me home on an early flight which they paid for. But I would never travel any distance without insurance. My girlfriend recommended Generali Global Assistance to me as an insurance provider. My policy was easy to purchase though it was a little expensive.

This is my first purchase of travel insurance. I found Generali from a broker site and read good reviews, unlike another company that had poor reviews. The main purpose of this is for medical/ dental and evacuation coverage for an upcoming trip in the unlikely event of any injuries sustained. The online process was quick and easy, although when I tried to talk to someone from the phone number, all I got was a caller menu of non-related options. Short of reading the small print legalese pdf, I'm hoping that was I purchased won't be needed, but if so, that it will cover any expenses incurred. If I have a few hours to burn, I'll read the pdf.

Plan was recommended by rental property owners. The policy was easy to purchase and email delivery of policy was fast. I am still a little confused what this will cover if we need it, but I'm still reviewing the documents. We just recently purchased this policy and are still going through the details. So far we have been happy with our experience but need to ensure it will cover pre-existing medical conditions. The policy is lengthy and understanding the pre-existing policy terms is not as easy to interpret as we hoped.

Easy website to navigate. Superior coverage and competitive prices. I like the enhanced medical coverage which is much better than other insurance companies. Our flight from Barcelona to Chicago 10/15/19 was cancelled because of civil disorder and we had to buy another tickets for flight 10/16/19 and stay in Barcelona one more day. Our claim to reimburse new tickets cost was deny because according to the Master Policy TMP100010 "civil disorder" cause is general exclusion for trip interruption. However insurer didn't provide full text of policy before it has been bought and we didn't know General Exclusions. Claim for our expenses during additional time of trip was accepted partially because of existed daily limit. However insurer made calculation against their own daily bases rules. We paid for hotel service for 12 hours 10/15 and 12 hours 10/16, but they consider it as one day payment and didn't pay us for "over limit".
We're sorry to hear about your trip issues and not meeting your expectations. We reviewed your claim and as you mention civil disorder is specifically excluded. This is noted in the plan language made available during your purchase and the policy document provided upon purchase. In regard to your hotel, the hotel charges on a per nightly basis, so our coverage is per night as well.

It was a challenge to fill out the form on the computer. There were questions about "Travel Agent"and "Carrier" and "Agent Initials" which we need to do a CHAT. It took about 1.5 hours to get this done. Confusing form. However, we used Generali on a trip to Italy and it was easier because we talked to someone on the phone who did the form for us. This policy had much better coverage that other agencies with similar costs. Thank you!

I’m an experienced traveler and I have no problems with Generali Global insurance. It’s what you expect. They were professional and they had a better combination of benefits for the price. Their price is reasonable compared to the competitors. When my flight was cancelled, I had to stay for one extra day and incurred expenses. I submitted these expenses and got reimbursed within a few weeks. It was fairly quickly.

Signing up with Generali was easy. Radar Tours which is based in Vienna hooked me up with their policy. I talked to Radar Tours' facility in Toronto and the process with their rep went smooth as silk.

When I submitted the claim, I received the email with attachment of a couple of different forms. I completed them and sent them on my own by regular mail. They could have handled my claim a little bit faster. They didn't ask me any additional documents and everything I submitted was very clear. But it took them almost the whole month to investigate. But it could be a little bit faster than four or five weeks, especially when the claim is very clear. When people need the insurance help, they need it fast.
Majority of insurance companies, including Generali, give the basic comprehensive plan. Sometimes, it's very useful to use the cancellation for any reason. But Generali didn't have this option at all. It will be very helpful for customers if they add this policy cancellation for any reason. Other than that, the company was good.

The travel agent that I used recommended CSA, so I just stayed with them for all my trips. I compared a couple other places with CSA, and the coverage was about the same and the prices were cheaper. I’ve been using CSA Travel Protection for years and it takes me to Generali. I do everything online and there’s nothing to it. You got the choice of three policies, and you pick one and pay for it. I’d rather deal with a person, but it’s kinda the way it works with Generali these days.

I’ve been with Generali for about seven years now. They have good prices and good coverage. If a company is in the market and does good coverage and has a little bit better prices than others, then it's the best company. Generali is top one.

I am currently in process of hiring a lawyer regarding my most recent experience. I had plans to travel to Florida (from Tennessee) on 9/5. Due to hurricane Dorian, I canceled the trip. There was mandatory evacuation when I contacted the property on 9/3. Because the evacuation was lifted on 9/4 at 7pm. They will not refund my $1500 trip! Seriously, the worst insurance I've ever deal with. I'll be posting this on every public forum I can find to earn travelers not to purchase protection when events such as these occur. To expect people to not plan ahead is crazy! And to withhold funds for a covered event over not even one day travel time is not good customer service.

Since the evacuation order was lifted prior to your arrival and there were no interruptions of services or other covered event at the property that would have prevented you from reaching your destination, you cannot cancel and be reimbursed under the Mandatory Evacuation event of your policy. We want our customers to understand the policy inclusions and cannot stress enough the importance of reviewing the coverage details that’s provided at the time of purchase.
