I flied with VivaColumbia and Generali Global Assistance was the insurance company that they recommended. My mom booked it for me and she got the insurance since she's sort of paranoid about that stuff. But I wasn't expecting anything to happen. So I went to Columbia and while I was there, the airline told me four days before I was going to fly back that my flight was cancelled. I have a business so it's hard for me to miss days on my job. I contacted the insurance company to see if they could help me out regarding the time that I was there. They asked me to send them some paperwork then they wrote to me and said that they're working on it. But they didn't get back to me because they have a large amount of people that are writing to them. So, as of now, I'm still waiting. That was three months ago so it's been quite a while. But they gave me another flight to go back to Colombia.

Everything went well as my wife talked to the reps to make the purchase. She had a good experience so that's why she went through with it. Generali Global Assistance has been great.

I was flying to a place for some leisure but it could’ve been cancelled from a hurricane so I wanted to make sure I got my money back if that happened. And, the people I booked the trip with recommended Generali. It was reasonable and it definitely has its place. You don’t need to put it on everything you do, but it depends on where you’re traveling and what kind of troubles you might encounter while you’re there. But if somebody else was going down to that same destination, by all means, I’ll recommend it.

The place that we vacationed at last summer recommended Generali and has a link on their website. We stayed at an island off the coast of Mexico and their policy is that they offer no refunds if there was a cancellation of the flight over to the island so they recommended travel insurance. It was a $2000 trip and I've been on trips like it before and had no insurance, so I picked one that was basically the cheapest for me. Although I just signed up and didn't use it, getting the insurance was very easy.

I would tell anybody travelling, especially on an expensive trip, to get travel insurance. We were going on a tour and Generali Global Assistance was recommended through the tour group that we were using for that tour. Purchasing the policy was very easy to do online. The price of their travel insurance was reasonable compared to that of other insurance companies and the policy covered everything that we needed to cover. If I had any questions as to their ability to take care of things, I wouldn't have bought the policy from them. I'll be using Generali for an upcoming trip. I may have used them one other time and there weren't any issues with that trip, so that was a good thing. The only time that I'd call Generali's Customer Service is if I was having trouble with travelling and so far, when using them, I haven't had any trouble. I've used another travel insurance company before, but I've never had any issues with Generali.

It was a good experience with Generali. We planned a trip to Scotland and decided to have a travel insurance. Generali's price was very favorable compared to other places. I needed to make one call to customer service to clarify something. The individual on the phone was very helpful in speaking to me. If I had a friend who was looking for a travel insurance policy, I would suggest that they check out Generali, go to their website, they have a variety of different policies available. And I'd highly recommend them.

I had been abroad at one other time and got hurt so I decided to get a travel insurance. Generali seems to have a good balance when it comes to the cost and what they said they would provide so I decided to choose them. It was easy to see what they were offering, and to compare prices, and to sign up for it. So, as far as that goes, it was a good experience. And I read also, there were reviews about what people had experienced that did have claims, and that was helpful for me to make the choice too. The price was good for what was included, and that’s something that people should consider, that they don’t always consider.

I was able to buy both policies online. The process very easy and straightforward and the price and coverage were reasonable for me. My first claim took a while because it was a medical issue but it went pretty smooth. They were comparing dates of the issue and what was in the policy. This happened a year ago. I have not claimed under the new Generali name label but when it was CSA, it was reasonable. I'm happy with the coverage.

Both my husband and I are in our 70s and we love to travel. And we thought purchasing a travel insurance was a good idea. We generally take out the trip insurance through the cruise line if it's a cruise, but I just was not happy with Crystal’s travel insurance. So that’s why I went on to the internet to see what I could get. I wasn’t also aware that I had to buy the trip insurance when I first put down a deposit. I just assumed that I could buy the trip insurance anytime I want it, which was not the case. And I like that I could get Generali when I could.

My husband got sick on this trip and we have submitted a claim. We lost from Thursday morning until Sunday morning of the cruise and spent two and a half days in a Greek hospital. So then I'm very glad that I did do it and so far they’ve been very helpful. The claim process is very clear-cut. It tells you the paperwork that you have to fill out, the backup that you have to provide and they give you names and telephone numbers of people that can help you, so all of that is very good. I'll definitely recommend Generali.

We had to interrupt our trip because of hurricane Irma. Our air tickets, hotel and car rental reservations were from Sept 3rd to 23rd. We had to cancel all our reservations in Florida and South Carolina and returned home Sept 7th. We had to buy a new ticket to return home before hurricane. CSA insurance said basically we left too early so we not entitle to be reimbursed. "We will only pay benefits for losses occurring within 30 calendar days after the evacuation order is issued," they said. So according to them we had to stay there and suffer to be reimbursed.

They gave me the answers that I needed as well. They're very outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable. They treated me with respect and I didn't feel like I was dealing with an insurance company. It's more like they were educating me on it. I called other agencies and I felt like they didn't have the time to answer more of my questions. I've booked with Generali when they were still CSA a few years ago. I've had a couple of claims and they paid promptly. I had good luck with them paying their claims off. I sent my most complex claim two years ago. I was in South America when I developed a sinus infection. I had to go to a clinic and I got doctors’ offices and medication. So, I had to come back. I have two different providers for my health insurance and for my medication. I had to file claims and get statements from both insurance companies and provide them to CSA saying that they would not cover them. I had to get all the ducks in a row before they would pay the claim. Once I got everything together, they paid very promptly.

I had a camera stolen the other time that I used CSA. And that was simply a matter of submitting the police report and a receipt for what I had paid for the camera and they paid it right up. They were straightforward, efficient and never gave you a hard time. Getting all the documentation needed was the time-consuming part but the whole thing was easy. I know that CSA was bought out by Generali, and I’m hoping that they have the same customer service. So far, I’ve only booked once with Generali and I didn’t have any problems. I’m leaving for Vietnam on Tuesday and I’m going to book with them again.

We were going abroad and I didn't want to be 70 years old and stuck if something happened. We needed travel insurance, and Generali was recommended to me by a travel agent my sister was using and we did a little poking around. The policy was worth the cost and more. I was very sick, and by the time we got to Paris, I needed a doctor. I called Generali and started working through the process of finding an English-speaking doctor. The rep said she would start working on it, and in the meantime, I was really sick, so just to keep myself going, I started looking for a physician as well.

I found one before Generali called me back, and there was a time frame going on. The Generali person said to go ahead and to go to the doctor I've made the appointment for. From that moment on, she took care of everything for me and made sure everything got paid. She called the doctor’s office, explained to the doctor that there was an insurance and asked if the doctor would accept it. The doctor said yes and I was so grateful. The rep was a miracle worker, and it was reassuring and easy. I felt very taken care of and I would tell friends to be sure they had travel insurance and that it's Generali.

I set it up on the website over the summer which was pretty easy. I called and spoke to one of Generali’s agents and they assured me on every situation that I mentioned that they would work with us and cover us as far as travel insurance. Their prices were also very similar to the other company.

The customer service people were very patient in listening to my questions and in answering them and making sure that we were both talking exactly the same terms. It was a very good experience. I went through a number of different products and most was done online. But once I was speaking with a representative, I had a couple of questions about what the differences were between a couple of the policies within the Generali group. We clarified what that was and whether I needed to pay the extra money or not. And, in our situation, it was worth it to pay a little bit more than one of them. But we didn’t have to go as far as their premium policy. They are easy to work with, they made me confident and they assured me that what I was getting was the right thing for my situation. I’ve recommended it to a number of people already. I tell them to make sure it’s their travel insurance, just in case.

I will never purchase a product from CSA again! My wife and I booked a stay at a Turnkey Colorado site (through VRBO) for six nights and were required to pay in advance, with no cancellation and no refund. Because there were no refunds for cancellation, we were concerned and were referred/encouraged to purchase trip insurance from CSA, as recommended on their website. Two days after booking the reservation and purchasing the insurance, and several weeks before our planned travel, my wife’s mother passed away.

Calls on that day to Turnkey, VRBO and CSA were, at best, not helpful, and at worst, heartless. The response to our first call to Turnkey was that “we are not able to do anything about it. You need to contact CSA - the trip insurance company.” CSA then told us that we needed to talk with the owners. The next call back to Turnkey – they said again that there was nothing they could do about it and that we needed to talk to VRBO. A call to VRBO resulted in no help but a warning to, “make sure you notify Turnkey so that they can put the property back in the rental pool.” So, we called Turnkey back a third time. They were quick to point out their policy of no refunds. We said that we had already knew that but were calling back to notify them so that the property could be put back in the rental pool (as instructed by VRBO). The response was quite abrupt – didn’t take down our name or property information, just thanked us and hung up.

Later, of course, we filed a claim with CSA, and after gathering piles of documentation, and several calls to the claims agent, our claim was denied. When we called to discuss and later wrote to protest, we were told that the claim was denied because we “reasonably could have foreseen the illness”. We could foresee the illness, in fact my wife’s mother has been ill for much of the past several years. What we could not foresee was her sudden turn for the worse and death, which is what caused us to cancel our plans. So, after booking and then two days later cancelling our reservation, we were out not only the nearly $1,900 cost of the stay, but also the premium for the insurance coverage, which turned out to be worthless.

Of course, we understand that insurance policy language is written in a way that often allows the insurance company to deny coverage. And obviously we should have read the fine print of the policy more carefully, but even then, the language seems intentionally obtuse. But the response that we received from all parties, VRBO, Turnkey and CSA, was truly greedy and heartless. No condolences, no asking what they could do to help, just a big money grab all around. The property in question was off the market for a grand total of less than 48 hours. And we are out nearly $2,000, hours of phone calls and related insensitivity. Obviously, we will never use Turnkey, VRBO or CSA again. And others should do so at their own peril.

I'm big on reading about the insurance companies and Generali Global Assistance pops out in a lot of different magazines and in different countries. So, I figured they must be doing something right. They also have a very strong position in Europe and in North America. There was a different company for less but still, Generali's name carried a good backup if something happens. Their customer service was very good and they're very easy to deal with.

When I was flying, my luggage was delayed but there was a coverage for that. So, I'll have my office file a claim on that, either online or over the phone, whatever is going to expedite the claim. Overall, it was a great experience and I was happy. They are topnotch. I was getting a quote for auto insurance in Europe and I'm considering them as well. Traveling to various parts of the world and seeing the name is making me feel comfortable.

Good thing my things came in two days so I ended up not going through the claims process. It was always been reasonably priced and the few times over the last 20 years that I’ve had to file a claim it has been hassle-free. Reliability in paying the claim was very important to me. When I went to buy travel insurance for my son, I bought it through CSA but quickly became aware that it’s now owned by Generali. I was a CSA customer who continued to buy from them but now it’s all Generali. The online process was pretty simple and the policy seemed to be placed well for the kind of coverage that I was looking for. I think everybody expects to have problems filing claims with insurance companies but I’ve never had that. That’s why I’ve been loyal to them.

I purchased travel insurance thru this company and I'm very dissatisfied with way this company is handling my claim. I flew into Sofia Bulgaria for 2 weeks and got stuck in Bulgaria airport. My flight which was scheduled and confirmed never showed up. The next day the airlines promised another flight at 5am, and they never showed up, another flight was promised for 8:00 am and that never happened either. They finally came but when I got to my connecting flight it was too late. I had to rebook with a different airline, stay in a hotel, get a shuttle for a different day, all at my expense. I have submitted the claim but I'm still waiting resolution but after reading negative reviews do not feel confident about this travel insurance.

They are refusing to pay based on pre-existing, and the fact that there was no treatment during the time the insurance policy was in effect (6/15/17-6/29/17). I was not told by the doctor to cancel the cruise, but felt that I would not enjoy myself due to having to be so cautious for fear of falling and reversing the effects of the surgery, and the simple fact that I would more than likely be taking pain medication. I also got sick in Norway and had minor medical expenses including ER visit, and medications. Total cost (love the medical costs in Norway) - $88. When I got back, I followed the procedures for filing a claim with CSA and was reimbursed for both. The process of filing a claim is a little tedious but who cares when you get the expenses paid. I assume it is that way with any travel insurance. I think I paid around $70 for the coverage. It was well worth the cost. I highly recommend them.

We're traveling as a group to South Korea four weeks from now and we needed coverage for medical conditions. I was advised by our group tour leader to contact Generali but I had a very difficult time upfront because both the agent and the instructions were unclear. The agent asked me for the cost of our trip so I gave him an estimate of it. It inflated the cost of the insurance so I took it back to the group leader. We went back and forth several times both with the group leader as well as the agent since I could not get any kind of rate coming back that was in line with what I was told was other people's rates. Finally, I got the correct instruction which was to tell Generali to make the cost of the travel zero and that we wanted just the health care insurance. When that happened, the pricing fit my expectations and was reasonable.

The agent could have asked if we're trying to get only health care insurance. Then it would have solved the problem because it's what I was asking for. They kept quoting us $300 plus but I said that’s supposed to be under 100 bucks and we could not resolve where the $200 was coming from. We later realized it was the insurance of the trip cost, should there be a pre-mature cancellation of sorts, that was inflating the total quote. The same thing happened with the online rate calculator. When I keyed in zero for the travel cost, everything fell within the expected area and we proceeded with the booking.

I usually travel for luxury vacations and I've lost money on cancelled travels. The first time was when my dad passed away and I couldn't cancel the travel on time, so I lost the money. The second time, my husband got sick and I lost the money too. So, I needed to get travel insurance because, without it, I might lose money again.

Generali Global Assistance previously went by the name of CSA Travel Protection. On the internet, CSA was rated among the top 10 insurance companies, so I got travel insurance from them and I had it for a while. They told me how to get a policy through the internet. I just filled out the form and sent it by email. I made only two claims with CSA in four years. In 2014 I got sick and called them, and I said, "I want to rebook another cruise, because I missed that one" and they worked fast in processing my claim.

Then last year, I insured a travel because I was going with my mom and she's 75 years old. But then, I couldn't use the airline that I had booked with originally. When I went to the airport, the reps of that airline told me that they don't have the capacity to bring a wheelchair over the steps and my mom couldn't do the stairs, so I cancelled our flight booking on that airline and booked instead with American Airlines. But I couldn't get a refund from CSAs since they said that it was the airline's fault and not theirs, so I lost the money.

When I was going to use CSA again, they had changed their name to Generali. I was supposed to have three travels this year because it’s our 10th anniversary. The cost of our vacation travel was $13,000, so I had to get insurance for it, Comparing the policies of the travel insurance companies to pick the right one for me was easy to do and some companies had lower prices, but I didn't want to take the risk going with another company.

In April this year, I got travel insurance from Generali and it was wonderful. I paid them $400 plus for the insurance. We went to Athens, then to Venice, and our travels went well. But I got sick on the 28th of July, which was our anniversary. I had planned to go to Athens and Venice again, and I submitted a claim two weeks ago to Generali for the cancelled travel, but this time the processing of my claim is taking more time.

Generali has been awesome so I've recommend them. I also want to give them a suggestion. Each budget is different but they should offer a one-year travel coverage. For example, I could pay a premium of $1,000 or $2,000 for travel insurance of $100,000. It would be like a membership and it would be better because every travel I make within that period would be covered. On the whole, everything was good with Generali.

I've looked at other travel websites and the main things that I'm looking for are health insurance while I'm away and trip insurance if something happens and I can't take the trip. Generali offers those things so they're great. I would recommend them to friends because I would hope that it's the same service that I got before.

They denied payment, based their denial on "pre-existing condition " which I did not agree. If I had know I was was going to get sick, why would take chances to travel for a month. Buying travel insurance from CSA is a rip off and waste of money. I will never RECOMMEND them to anyone. If want to buy travel insurance, please look somewhere else.

This is standard procedure on a ship and they wrote a letter confirming that I was unable to attend the excursion due to this situation. We submitted this documentation with our claim to CSA and received an email back asking for more information about the medical costs, which we were not trying to recover. I replied to the email with the clarification and never heard back from CSA. We also never received our refund for the excursion.

I do travel insurance for every trip. And the birding tour company I use had always recommended CSA, the company I have used for years, and Generali Global Assistance took over CSA. We stay in remote lodges on our trips and I sometimes have to pay upfront. And if I have to cancel, I don't get anything back. They're pretty expensive trips, so I always purchase travel insurance. The last time I went on there it redirected me to the Generali. I read into it and it said that they had bought the company.

The site was user-friendly and easy to navigate. I've submitted claims through CSA. I have had to cancel a few times. Or else got sick. Once I got sick in Guatemala and had to get out of there. I've never had any problem. CSA has always been great. So, I hope they're still keeping the same people. My experience has been a pretty blank slate so far. But I assume Generali will be just as good as CSA.

I have to cancel my trip this summer, and I purchased the ticket via Justfly. I want to share my experiences with everyone here to stay away from these two companies. It does not make sense at all how this process works. First, the penalty fee for canceling the trip via Justfly. I cannot avoid this since if not, they are not going to approve your cancellation and you cannot ask for a refund from the insurance company. They charge me $100 for a less than $500 ticket. Second, when I continued to move to CSA, I submit the form in early July, and I have to wait for one more month to get their email. It is so slow. And after simply negotiation, they said in my case I could not get a refund.

Then the problem came, I did purchase insurance. But I need to pay both penalty fee and lost my ticket value and I have to pay the insurance. If there is any lesson I can learn, the insurance agent kindly suggested me to use the first 10 days, after purchased the insurance, to read through the conditions and codes carefully. This is the only thing I can suggest.

Sometimes when we travel, particularly on vacation, we pay a very large deposit upfront made by our plane tickets. If something happens at the last minute, we would be out all that money because it’d be non-refundable. Also, if you don’t cancel out 30 or 60 days ahead of time, you lose your deposit and sometimes our deposits can be pretty substantial. So we decided to look into travel insurance. I was doing an online search on trip insurance companies years ago when I came upon Generali which was CSA Travel back then. They've always been good so I continued using them. I really didn't shop around. I went to them after we came back from a trip and saw that they changed to Generali, so we just kept the same coverage. We’ve got a trip coming up right at the end of the month and we have a policy for that trip as well.

We've done everything from their website. The only time I've actually contacted customer service is when we filed a claim several years ago. We had a claim because we were going out to Wyoming and one of my grandsons was going with us, and right before we left he was in an automobile accident. So, we had to cancel the trip. I called them to let them know that we were going to be filing a claim and they told me that they'll send everything I need. They did and it took a little time but not from their standpoint. We had to wait to get all the official doctors’ notices that he wasn’t able to travel and wouldn’t be able to travel for at least six months. They were very helpful and they paid the claim very quickly once we provided all the information. Their customer service has been really good.

It had the most plausible services for the type of trip I was going on. I was not going on some sort of wilderness adventure in Africa. One of our friends who traveled a lot recommended Generali to us. We've used it for about 15 years. All of their agents were pretty familiar with the products that they provided. They’re very good and they seemed to have a routine that they follow. They would first of all ask if we’re familiar with the insurance company, then there are three product lines that they'd offer. The gal asked if we’d like to use the same products we had on the previous trip. We said yes, so that helped with everything. And then they'd ask the standard questions about who’s going, where we’re going, what the dates are. Then she would give us the price and take the credit card information then we could get a copy of the policy within a couple of minutes on the internet.

We've submitted one claim to them. It was a medical thing and what we had to do was provide the documentation associated with that. We turned it in, and CSA sent us a check. We were very satisfied with that service. They give what they promised they'll do and I'd tell others to use them. Excellent customer service.

I always have travel protection insurance for trips. This is the first time that I've ever experienced having to use Generali Global Assistance travel insurance. We were in Canada and my husband got very ill and we had to rush to a hospital. We crossed into New York and got to Plattsburgh Hospital in 25 minutes, and he was there from 11:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night. He was discharged, but we had to stay close to the hospital so we got a camp site in Plattsburgh. The customer service rep was very nice and they covered the medical when he's in the hospital, though there was a deductible of a couple of dollars. They also covered our night in Plattsburgh because we were just out of the hospital.

However, they didn't cover anything on our way home. We had to work our way home in an alternate route from what we had planned to get home ASAP so that he could be doctored here in Pennsylvania. We also needed to cancel a reservation that we had in Upper Canada because we had to travel a different direction to get to the hospital. They said would not cover the cancellation because of the rerouting and that we did not have a trip cancellation insurance.

Then they also said that it was no longer covered once he was discharged from the hospital and deemed able to travel. But it doesn't mean that it was a comfortable travel at all and my husband was still very ill. It's just their wording on a policy that nobody runs into until they need to use it to weasel their way out of payment. We were traveling through RV parks to get home and the actual claim would have been around $70 and was so minimal because I didn't keep track of food when he was in the hospital. For that reason, I will never use them again.

I have required guests to purchase the CSA Travel Protection damage insurance protection in the amount of $1,500. A renter broke the frame on a sofa in one of my properties. I filed a claim with CSA, sent photos, and provided an original receipt showing the sofa cost was $731.95. When the renter was contacted about the damage, she denied that her family broke the sofa frame... no surprise there. Based upon the renter's statement solely, CSA denied the claim because they said she was the owner of the policy.

I asked how I should go about protesting their denial of the claim. I was told their decision was final, and that there is no means for further escalating a claim. Have you ever heard of such? Additionally, no supervisor was available to speak with me. My recommendation to all VRBO homeowners is to charge a damage deposit, don't fall for the false sense of security they are peddling with damage insurance protection. It's a farce.

It was the first time I've used Spirit Airlines. I heard some bad things about it, so I decided to get an insurance. The people where we stayed and made our reservations recommended Generali Global Assistance. I submitted a claim on the phone. They sent us the documents to fill out and we sent it back a week ago. It was a pleasant experience with their customer service. They were knowledgeable and answered all my questions. So far, so good.

Having a travel insurance was recommended by friends so I decided to get one. I went with Generali because of their general package and the combination of the most reviewers and highest rating which was what I was looking for. Also, they're $50 to $100 different from other companies. My interaction with Generali was very limited. I've just asked their customer service a general question about going from United States to Canada and he said, “Oh, yeah.” But they're fine and the experience has been efficient.

I did everything online and it was an easy sign-up. I got two policies as I have two trips coming up. The last one I did was five weeks ago. You have to sign up each time and the fee is based on the cost of the trip so there is a difference there.

When you invest all this money into a trip, something happens. People get sick, somebody breaks a leg, there's unrest, and getting a travel insurance seemed like a sensible protection investment. Generali was recommended by Scandia Air. In choosing my policy, I typed in how much I thought the trip was going to cost me, and I based my decision on that. I did it online and it wasn't too bad. I'm glad that I had trip insurance as it gave me some peace of mind, and my experience was uneventful, which I'm very grateful for.

We planned a trip to see my Uncle. I actually purchased the airfare after my significant other had congestive heart failure. He was released from the hospital feeling good and was told that his condition could be controlled with medication. I purchased the tickets 2 months before the date we wanted to travel and travel insurance after being assured by the doctors that he is fine to travel. I purchased the insurance mainly because the airlines were having problems where they were leaving passengers stranded. The doctor ordered further tests wanted to make sure that no further treatment would be necessary in the future.

About 1 week before we were suppose to travel the angiogram revealed he had 3 blocked arteries and a leaky valve. At that time the doctor advised him not to travel because he needed more test and a triple bypass. We made two trips to the VA hospital which is 60 miles from my home to get letters for this bogus insurance company that said it is a preexisting condition and we would not get any of our money back. I was not buying life insurance I was buying travel insurance. Talked to the representative and he would not even consider changing the decision NOT TO REFUND MY MONEY. So I am out the airfare, cancellation fee charged by Just Fly and other fees they decided to charge. BOGUS COMPANY. NEVER AGAIN. I wish I could give them a 0.

Does NOT deserve any star. Generali Global Assistance is the parent company of CSA Travel. They are nothing but a headache. I cancelled a trip in February at least a week prior to travel. 1st they tried to tell me that there is nothing that says they have to pay the claim due to the reason given. The reason for the cancellation of the trip was cuz of my daughters board exams for her Med School. After lot of arguing they said they would look into it. Now it has been 5 months with NO result or follow up. All they keep doing is asking for more info. Once you provide them with the info they requested they ask for more. Now the excuse is they are waiting for an answer from the Board that conducts the testing. We provided with all the dates of the exam, the board info, our authorization for the board to release info to CSA, daughters graduation date & degree.

They are very quick at taking your money and promising you that there will be no hassle in getting your refund once they have all the info they need. Do NOT I repeat do NOT insure yourself with CSA Travel for your travel insurance. I just found out yesterday that one my other family members is having the same issue. The lack of response & follow up makes this an extremely unpleasant experience. I would like someone from CSA or Generali to contact me & resolve this situation ASAP. This has gone on too long, 5 months to be exact.

I get no updates unless I harass them. I was told the "policy" was monthly updates. Really? How many months does it take to process a fairly small, straight-forward claim? I had paperwork ready to go, and all sorts of evidence. I've filled out hospital release forms twice--the second time I had them overnighted to CSA in California. Still, I hear crickets. I booked a cruise for my adult daughter and me for the dates April 8-15 and took out CSA Travel Protection months in advance for the cruise portion. When we arrived at the airport an hour ahead of the scheduled flight to fly to Tampa via Atlanta on April 8 on Delta, the Delta agent told us that our flight was changed to April 9 due to there having been adverse weather conditions from April 5-7 in Atlanta which had caused cancellations of flights from our airport (CRW) to Atlanta for those days. Due to the backlog of passengers trying to fly from CRW to ATL, the plane for which we held reservations was full. We had confirmed reservations and on April 7 Delta sent us an email reminder of our flight scheduled for April 8. Delta did not notify us of the change of flight until we were at the ticket counter at 5:20 a.m. on April 8.

None of the other carriers at CRW had flights that would get us to Tampa by 2:00 p.m. that day. Although we explained to the Delta agent that we needed to fly to Tampa to board a cruise that afternoon, we were not allowed to board the flight. We missed the cruise. I submitted the claim for payment due to trip interruption due to adverse weather. CSA denied our claim. We are out the money I paid for our cruise AND I BOUGHT TRAVEL PROTECTION INSURANCE. If this wasn't an eligible situation, then what is??? I am going to file a complaint with the attorney general in the states in which CSA is registered to do business. CSA told me that he... yes, he... denied doing the damage so they are only paying for a small amount of what he did. Seriously???

I lost money on this rental. The renter just outright lied and said he didn't have a party, and CSA tells me he is the one insured and protected. RIGHT!!! He is protected up to $1500 so why will they not pay me for $800 in damages when I provided photos, repair estimates, a list of damages, and offered to provide eyewitness accounts to the 50+ person and 20+ car party he held at my house? Because CSA is a money-making scam is why.

All he had to do is say he didn't do all the damage — possibly because I gave him a rating of one star on VRBO??? And CSA, who is laughing their pocketbooks off when he says he didn't do the damage, reports back to me that, "Oh, sorry, he is protected from you with this policy... not you are protected in case of damages by him." That is HORRIBLE!!! VRBO is not that great of a company in the first place (horrible customer service) and this just tops the cake!!!

My tour to Europe was canceled through no fault of my own. The cancellation cost me $1100 in deposits plus airfare. CSA covered NOTHING as the ONLY way they'd pay is if the tour company became financially insolvent and canceled the tour. They don't cover any of the airfare although I needed to purchase it as part of the tour. Don't buy travel insurance from this company. You'll be disappointed if through no fault of your own something happens. As I stated, they've worded the policy to pretty much exclude most of what can realistically go wrong in a trip.

There was a hurricane (Matthew) last Sept, which knocked out the power to the area. The realty company called us and encouraged us to come anyway because the "power is generally back on within a few hours". Once we arrived, we were left sitting in a parking lot for 2 1/2 hours because the roads were too flooded to reach the home. We requested alternative accommodations but the realty company didn't have anything (really?). Hotels were all full. The only resolution was to wait until the water went down and go to the uninhabitable house. We were there for 3 days with no power, no flush toilets, no cooking facilities, no lights, no air conditioning and 6 inches of sand in the pool, hot tub and on the decks.

The owner send people out to clean on the 3rd day. The realty company did nothing. The power was restored after the 3rd day when we complained to the county commissioners. Again, the realty company did nothing. Our vacation was scheduled for 2 weeks. Our car was damaged due to debris on the beach from the storm. Once we came home, we filed a claim with the hurricane insurance company. It has been repeatedly denied over the past 4 months. I'm certain that quite a few people were affected and denied reimbursement. We will be filing an insurance commission complaint shortly, but this is a decent story/warning. In October 2016 our party of 6 purchased airfare tickets through JustFly.com to go to the Bahamas in Feb 2017. We received tickets through Delta and also purchased the travel protection with CSA. In November 2016 our timeshare resort was destroyed by Hurricane Matthew. Half the island had no electricity, poachers took over abandoned hotels, most were evacuated, and the resort advised that the projected re-opening would not be until late November 2017. Since the Bahamas was heavily damaged we opted to cancel our airline tickets. We contacted CSA and they sent us a cancellation packet. The packet was filled out to the T and certified mail was sent. CSA denied our claim stating that they do not cover Hurricanes. Hurricanes are a natural disaster, evacuation was done, and this should of been covered. To appeal you have to take it up with your State's Dept. of Insurance.

We’re sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We want our customers to choose the correct policy to fit their needs and cannot stress enough that it is important to review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at csa@csatravelprotection.com with any additional questions. We have dedicated customer service representatives who can clarify the plan terms and conditions and guide you towards the best coverages. The plan you purchased includes approximately 15 different covered events under which we can provide coverage if you are forced to cancel your trip. While the plan is typically able to provide coverage for cancelling your trip due to a mandatory hurricane evacuation if requirements are met, coverage is not available under the plan if you purchase the insurance after the tropical storm has already been named and considered a foreseeable event. Some plans are able to provide coverage if you have to cancel your trip due to an interruption of essential services at your destination if requirements are met. Unfortunately the plan you purchased does not include this covered event. If there is something specific that you want to be sure is covered, please reach out to us before you purchase the policy at the number or email provided above.

October 2016 our six person family purchased CSA travel insurance for our Corova, NC vacation rental at Twiddy Realty. Our understanding was that if our trip was interrupted or canceled, we would be reimbursed for our expenses. When NOAH weather predicted Hurricane Matthew was expected to hit Corova, NC, we attempted to cancel or delay our vacation. We were informed by CSA and by Twiddy that unless it was a mandatory evacuation, we would not be reimbursed. We traveled to Twiddy Realty, our vacation rental home agency in Corova, NC. We attempted to relocate or receive a reimbursement. We were then assured by Twiddy that the storm was not supposed to hit the area.

That night, while we were in our vacation home, Hurricane Matthew hit the Corova, NC area with devastating effects. Our family was stranded in the vacation home, surrounded by water with downed power lines for three days. We had no power, water or way to cook or even flush toilets. Water seeped in through the walls. Our groceries were destroyed due to lack of power. We contacted CSA Travel Insurance agency for emergency assistance and were informed that there was no emergency assistance.

Three days later, we were finally rescued and relocated by a military hummer from the police department, no thanks to CSA. We had to leave our vehicle and belongings behind. Thankfully, the owner of the home we rented was willing to allow us to move to another home. Again, with no help from CSA. However, our family of six had to share one MRE because we had no food or necessities. We had to beg a ride to the grocery store with the maintenance guy from Twiddy and repurchase all our groceries.

Finally, days later, when the water went down, we had to return to get our own rental vehicle out of the water. No thanks again to CSA. When we returned home, we filed a claim to be reimbursed for trip interruption, groceries and lost rental vehicle time. We were told by CSA to send in receipts and we would be reimbursed. After sending in our verification and receipts, Andrew **, claims representative, informed us that our check had been mailed. When we received no check a week later, we called the claims office and were told Andrew was on vacation and no one else was able to help us, so we would have to wait until he returned.

On our second attempt to receive information regarding our claim, we were told that CSA had no record of our having filed a claim. We resubmitted, and received a denial letter through email. When we inquired why our claim had been denied, we were told that we would have been reimbursed if we had stayed in a hotel. But since we stayed in the vacation home, they would not reimburse us. We would have been happy to stay in a hotel if we could have gotten out of the vacation home; but we were stranded, surrounded by water and power lines that were down all around us--technicality instead of honest business.

CSA also told us if we had eaten out at restaurants, we would have been reimbursed for our meals. However, since we purchased groceries, we could not be reimbursed. This was again, a technicality, instead of honest business. If we could have eaten out, we would have been more than happy to. But in a hurricane, there don't happen to be any restaurants open! We had to return to the grocery store because the grocery store shelves were stripped and there were no refrigerator items.

This company advertises emergency assistance, trip cancellation and reimbursement for expenses out of pocket, but all the reviews I have seen on this company seem to have one common denominator-- fraud! No emergency assistance--during the emergency they told us they would call us back the next day, then emergency management called us the next day to tell us there was nothing we could do. The rest was all about fine print and technicalities to find loopholes for the company to leave their customers stranded. This company is fraudulent in their claims, disorganized and unprofessional in handling their claims and a total waste of money.

My husband and I had a two week trip planned for September 2016. We were to attend a wedding in upstate Connecticut and then fly to Paris to take a one week river cruise. Since we are seniors, we usually insure our entire trip portal to portal. Once I had all of our arrangements made, CSA Insurance was recommended to us by the company who booked our cruise. I purchased it July 2016. My husband had been experiencing groin pain for a while and he was getting physical therapy for it. We never considered canceling our trip due to this. However, the pain grew more intense and in August 2016 it was recommended that he have hip surgery. The only date available for the surgery was the day we were scheduled to leave on our trip. Otherwise he would've had to wait four extra months and his pain was getting worse...so much so that travel would've been difficult no matter what.

We were forced to cancel our entire trip but felt confident that we would receive reimbursement since we'd insured everything, paying $888 for the complete coverage. We followed all instructions and turned in all the required paperwork as soon as possible. We were shocked when we were informed that we would receive nothing because my husband's condition was deemed a "pre-existing condition". CSA was basing this on our general practitioner's report that he had been referred to physical therapy for groin and hip pain. Our general practitioner never suggested or hinted at a need for surgery. The need for surgery was determined by an orthopedist almost a month after we purchased the insurance. We expressed our lack of satisfaction with CSA's decision. We never had any person to person contact with this company (although they are local in San Diego and about 5 minutes from our home).

They just kept coldly repeating their decision through email and snail mail, based on a couple of lines in their 17 page policy. So, we were out about $4,000. And as far as CSA was concerned, that was our tough luck. They also failed to respond to our questions about their keeping our $888 premium that was paid to protect us while on a vacation that we never took! What did they do to earn that? Absolutely nothing! Since our experience we have learned of numerous other peoples' bad experiences with the "pre existing condition" exclusion not only with CSA but with other companies.

We will never deal with CSA again and are totally soured on major travel insurance in general at this point. We are submitting this review because we want to encourage everyone purchasing travel insurance to read every word of the fine print in the policy. There are loopholes everywhere, set up for the protection of the insurance company and not for the benefit of the supposed "insured"!

We used CSA for trip cancellation insurance for a 2 week rental in Emerald Isle North Carolina. This costs us over $200.00. Then we found out recently that our 13 year old dog has cancer and it has spread to her lungs. We are giving her daily chemotherapy at home and she is very fragile. We cannot in good conscience leave her to take a beach holiday. We called CSA and explained this to them and sent them all the appropriate documentation. They quickly denied the claim and when I asked for an appeal was told they don't "really have an appeal process" but would "kick it upstairs and review the situation."

A few days later (very quick review I guess) we received a letter denying us any of our claim. I know this is a dog but she is our family and we wasted all that money for nothing. Read other review sites to see similar complaints and many much more serious than ours. Do not waste your money for a company that will do just about anything to deny your claim.
