When I travel, I wanna have accident insurance. So if I got hurt when in Europe, I wouldn't have to pay a large amount of money coming back. I used Generali before and their price was very good and reasonable for my age. The people there are professional, and I like their attitude when I talk to them on the phone. And their service is good.

I usually use Generali when I go to Europe. I’ve been travelling for 30 years and I always purchase travel insurance because you never know what’s going to happen. At the end of the year, I might be going to the Middle East so I will be buying health insurance. The one time I made a claim was when I fell and I was bleeding all over. An emergency procedure was done on my lip, neck, face, hands, and legs. And when I went to the hospital, they said we needed to go to another hospital where they had machines to scan me.
It was really good because the hospital itself called to see if they could transfer me to another hospital in an ambulance and they got an approval. The gentleman at the hospital, when I got there, called and helped us so much. He gave me everything. They did an MRI and all the stuff that they had to do. It was excellent. I hurt like hell but I survived. The Generali reps were great. They told me what to do, what to send, and when to send it. I did all those. I got the check within days so I’m very pleased.

We had gotten Generali Global Assistance when we went away. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law used it a year ago, and we went this year again on a trip. So we used Generali 'cause it was a little cheaper than the last time we got it. We like the price and coverage. When we called, we talked to them and it was fine. They sent the papers through the mail and we got them within a week's time. Everything was fine. We would use them again. We were satisfied.

We've used Generali for a previous cruise and then we got them for the second time around. We already had a certain kind of insurance with our credit card, which covered us there, and Generali's policy nicely handled the remainder and the price. Once the young man from Generali found out that we were ready to purchase then and there, he was happy and took our order, and we got the policy. He was professional, asked only pertinent questions and answered all of mine satisfactorily.

Last year, when we were making our entrance to go to Ireland, the person that I rented it through suggested Generali. I used it last year and I used it this past spring also. The cruise line broke my suitcase, then we were off of it. I know that would be covered but I just wasn’t sure so, they’re trying to get it fixed. That seems as expensive as buying another one. I’m pleased with Generali and I have recommended them to a few people.

Nothing very significant happened on the trip that I needed to take out the insurance, but I felt protected.

My tour company changed the dates of my European trip by 10 days. Called to change policy dates 2 months before trip. To change dates they charged me an additional $40 and some cents - nothing else was different. That's BS!
Thank you for the opportunity to look into this for you. The plan you purchased has matrix pricing that looks at many factors such as trip destination, number of individuals insured, trip length, seasonality, etc. In your specific case, adding the additional 10 days resulted in the premium increase. This is my second time purchasing travel insurance and I will never buy from Generali again. We bought the premium policy (cancel for any reason) and as we were told by the agent, "covered no matter what" if something happens. Well happen it did. We had to drive about 90 miles to the airport the morning of our departure (not uncommon) and there was a weather anomaly caused by cold weather and lake condensation - it was not snowing and there was no inclement weather in the forecast. About a 5 mile stretch of the interstate became covered in black ice and we hit it - but we didn't hit any cars or objects - we managed to stay clear of damaging our vehicle. Multiple other vehicles were not so lucky, including the semi that pushed through a concrete wall into our lane, bringing the wall with the trailer. We were stuck - for 4 hours - and missed our flight.
I was not worried at all because we had travel insurance - and we were told "covered no matter what". So we arrived at the airport after missing our flight and with non refundable, non-transferable tickets our choices were to buy new tickets or skip our 10 year anniversary vacation trip. Even though they didn't have to - American Airlines tried to work with us as they realized the situation was far outside of our control- but we would have been stuck for another 2 days and have to take 4 connections to get to our destination (as they only fly direct once a week and all other flights were full). Generali denied our claim for the 2 new tickets ($1200) - because we didn't have a police report saying our car was damaged. I guess next time, I will do less to control my vehicle instead crashing into something, risking more lives, so I can ensure my travel insurance will kick in.
If there is a loophole, they will find it. And...I can provide a police report - there were no less than 8 cars all around us smashed and in the ditch - we just spun a few times and since it was 4am -- the traffic to hit was scarce - and the traffic that was there was in the same situation we were - caught in a weather phenomenon - trying not to harm anyone and just keep it on the road. Oh yeah, and then there was the semi. Disgusting.
We are sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, the brief delay to your flight is not a covered event under your policy. We take customer service and the claims review process very seriously and cannot stress enough to our customers that it is important to review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase. STAY AWAY FROM GENERALI TRAVEL INSURANCE. We bought Travel Insurance from GENERALI to protect our vacation from unexpected events. The policy included coverage for trip cancellation, trip delay, trip interruption, etc. Unfortunately, after several delays, our flight was cancelled. Besides the air fares, we lost the hotel stay and tickets for events we had purchased. At least, we had travel insurance. We thought so.
We filed a claim with GENERALI and the company refused to cover the losses, even though it acknowledged that we had contracted trip cancelation insurance. The company alleged that the airline ceased operations, which only happened one day after the trip cancellation. According to GENERALI, ceased operation of the airline was not explicitly listed in the contract. This is outrageous and ridiculous. DO NOT BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM GENERALI. Our son’s girlfriend (who was going to travel with us) died. The people I spoke with were the most unsympathetic and uncaring people I’ve ever encountered. They insisted on a death certificate. I explained that it would be extremely inappropriate and unacceptable to ask her family during their time of grieving for a death certificate. The company made certain to tell me that even if a death certificate was provided the policy does not cover a death due to a pre existing condition or death by suicide. The company didn’t care that we needed to plan and host a memorial service. If you cannot cancel a vacation due to a death what can you cancel for? Stay away from CSA Travel Protection. You will be wasting your money, time, and energy.

The San Francisco Bay Area was blanketed in smoke from the Paradise City, California fire this past Thanksgiving holiday. I was due to fly out to visit my son. My son requested that I cancel my trip as he said the smoke was so bad that they could not see the sky. I am a 73 year old traveler that has survived double pneumonia and sepsis. Taking a trip to an area that was nationally designated as very hazardous to health is a valid reason for canceling my flight. This company has just informed me that it is not going to honor my claim. I had no way of knowing when the air would be safe to breathe.
We apologize for your issue and not meeting your expectation. Unfortunately the JustFly policy you purchased doesn't include cancel for any reason coverage. Your fear of exacerbating a chronic condition isn't considered cancelling due to sickness or another covered event.

It's always good and invaluable to have insurance when travelling. My friend who is a travel consultant told me she had used Generali previously, so I also went with them. When we were scheduled on our last cruise, we were going to San Juan but because of the storm that hit there, the boat wasn't going there so we cancelled our cruise. I then called Generali and they took all the information. It went very well, and I still have credits with Royal Caribbean.

My experience with Generali Global Assistance was absolutely horrible. I've used them for years and I will never, ever, ever use them again. I had a really bad allergic reaction when I was traveling in Norway. I had to go by ambulance and then, I ended up in the hospital. I called them from emergency and they said there's nothing they could do because I didn't get a pre-approval. I was in the hospital for hours waiting for Generali to try to put things together, but they didn't really know what to do with me because most people that have insurance have a certificate and I didn't have one. They basically left the people in Norway and the doctors and nurses were flabbergasted. They couldn’t even believe how I can have insurance and be treated that way because I was calling to get a certificate not understanding.
By the time I got back home from traveling and by the time that I received a bill from Norway for the hospital, it was out of the 90 day period so I didn't even bother trying to file a claim although it is legitimate. Furthermore, they said that I had to file a claim with my primary insurance. I have a covered California plan in California and I know it doesn't cover me in Europe. In Norway, if you have a life insurance policy, you're covered if you're abroad. Whereas in United States, insurance is a joke and traveler's insurance on top of it. So, if I'm having an allergic reaction, it's impossible to get out of that situation approved.
It's a full scam because if you have legitimate claim, there shouldn't be a time period. There's no way I could've gotten the bill sooner. And everything I got was all in Norwegian. I got the bill due from Norway and I paid it, but I had to borrow money from my bank. And then, I got another bill from a collection agency saying that I owed them when I know I paid them. So, I'm still trying to see if I get another one from them because I don't know who to call because they may not be able to speak English. It's really a nightmare to be dealing with this. Thank God that the medical in most other countries is fair and reasonable. But I'm never, ever, ever going to recommend Generali.
While we ask that claims be submitted within 90 days, you have a year to do so as outlined in your plan. You may call the number above for further clarification and to have the claim forms resent to you. You can also visit csaclaims.com for an online claim form.

We’ve been using Generali for years and their website is really easy to use as well as easy to compare. I got coverage from them for a trip to Disney World in May. I’m cautious that way and I like to make sure I am covered in case anything happens. It’s worth the money to have that instead of having to pay out of pocket. I’d rather pay a 100 bucks for insurance and not use it than having to pay thousands and thousands for something that I could’ve only spent a little bit on. Also, I’d pick a higher-rated coverage if we were on a cruise. Get Generali if you’re gonna get travel insurance.

My wife and I are at our early 70's, and we’re concerned that if something happens to us on a trip, we’ll make sure that we’re covered well with insurance. We looked at the options that were offered by each of the insurance companies, and then compared it to the premiums, and Generali came up on top. Then we had to file a claim where we had a bruised area, sprained ankle, and the doctor took an X-ray, which entailed a large charge, which will be covered. We submitted all the paperwork that they asked for and we have acknowledgement that they have accepted the claim. What little experience I’ve had with them, they’ve stood behind the policy and only for a few hundred dollars. I’m very pleased with them.

Getting a travel insurance was a safe venture for reassurance just in case something happens. If you don’t get it, you regret not having it. I searched on the internet and because of the reviews, I signed up with Generali. I filed a claim for a trip cancellation when my wife, who was not traveling with me, required an urgent operation. They decided that it was a preexisting condition based on a very generalized vague and non-specific symptom that appeared months before the trip was even planned. They related it to her having cancer and denied the claim. It took a lot of measures and appeals but they just refused. Every business is in the business of making money. So, to that end, they were protecting their interests but they could have been understanding of the situation. I would advise friends not to work with Generali.

I purchased travel insurance through CSA for an upcoming trip to Yosemite National Park, and unfortunately we had to cancel because of the wildfires. In my claim form, I noted that all major roads and entrances for our destination were closed due to the fires and there were mandatory evacuations issued for parts of the national park we were set to visit. Our trip was scheduled for Aug. 3-8, when major roads & park entrances were still closed due to wildfires, and I canceled on July 31.
The coverage in my insurance explicitly covered the following events (which they copied into my claim denial email): "8. A mandatory evacuation (or public official evacuation advisement in geographic areas where no mandatory evacuation orders are issued by government authorities) at your destination due to adverse weather or natural disasters. We will only pay benefits for losses occurring within 30 calendar days after the evacuation order is issued. In order to cancel your Trip, you must have 4 days or 50% of your total Trip length or less remaining at the time the mandatory evacuation ends."
AND "16. The interruption of road service for 24 hours or more due to adverse weather or natural disaster so as to prohibit you from reaching your destination. We will only pay benefits for losses occurring within 15 calendar days following the event which causes the interruption of road service." However, my claim was denied when they said the trip was not canceled due to a "covered event." Even though said covered events both occurred and were both part of the reason I canceled my trip. Essentially, they admitted I had ample reason to cancel my trip under the policy I paid for (by laying out my EXACT reasons for canceling in the list of covered events in my claim denial email) but they wanted to deny my claim nonetheless.

My trip was already planned and I already had the insurance paid for. Teladoc is what sold me on the insurance and it is supposed to cover me 24 hours a day, worldwide. The only problem is they don't have any physicians licensed outside the United States and I was in the Dominican Republic. I called them and they said the ad on their website is misleading and they were sorry about that. They offered no money back and offered no assistance other than they would let somebody know. I was pissed.
They need to correct that website. My brother and I both bought the insurance through them and we'll never use them again. Do no use them. If you're planning on traveling out of the country, which is the only reason you would buy this insurance, find somebody else that's actual ad is straightforward on the internet and the person is helpful when you call.

This company not only ignores claims, but is in the business of denying claims. They are there to collect a premium, but not cover claims that arise. We bought their policy in February when we arranged our trip to the Big Island. One of our family members has a serious heart condition and thus we found peace of mind purchasing this insurance to cover anything medical that may arise. What a mistake! The Big Island has had problems with the violent volcano eruption and air quality since the first of May. Who would have known about this in February???
Due to this health condition, the doctor advised not to travel to this island with the toxic air quality as it would only be a threat to an already serious condition. The claim was submitted three weeks ago. An email was received one week ago listing a name of the representative handling the claim, but no contact information for this person. I called a general number and requested contact information and after three phone calls (messages left), I was able to get him on the phone through another representative. I was quickly told my claim would not be covered. They had no interest to see documentation from the doctor. By the way, pre-existing conditions were not excluded with this policy. This is a scam and I would NEVER recommend to anyone!
We're sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and apologize for not meeting your expectations. The plan you purchased includes a variety of covered events under which we can provide coverage if you are forced to cancel your trip. However, most travel insurance plans, regardless of insurance provider, only offer benefits for events that actually have occurred, not events that might occur. We urge our customers to review the coverage details listed in the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contacting (800) 348-9505 or csa@csatravelprotection.com with any questions.

The insurance claim denial was based on the following statement: "The information provided indicates your trip was interrupted due to your nontraveling family being DISCHARGED from the hospital. As there was no worsening of the condition while your coverage was in effect and the death occurred after the coverage had ended, no benefits are payable for your claim." My claim was based on my nontraveling family member being ADMITTED to the hospital during the policy period not DISCHARGED.
After numerous phone calls and forms were unsuccessful to persuade the insurance agent assigned to my claim, I requested assistance from The California Department of Insurance who requested the underwriter re-evaluate my claim. I was reimbursed by CSA Travel Protection. Small Claims Court has the authority to make a binding decision; The California Department of Insurance can only attempt to mediate the claim. I have written this review to provide information about my experience with CSA Travel Insurance to be helpful for others.

I purchase a travel insurance every time I travel. I’ve been on trips where I’ve seen people taken off ships and hoping they have insurance to pay for the exorbitant cost. I called my travel agent, Vacations To Go, and I ask them who I should use, and they gave me Generali's number. Purchasing over the phone was very easy and I told the guy what I was looking for. He told me what the insurance covered and the price, of which I said fine. Then, he tried to email me, but, for some reason, I couldn’t pull up the email so he sent me the policy by mail. I gotta call them again on my next trip. I’d recommend them.

Experience tells us that we should get travel protection for all our trips. In 2004, back when Generali Global Assistance was still CSA Travel Protection, my wife had an accident on a trip and they covered us. We were in Victoria then and we submitted two claims, and it was just a matter of making a call to them. The travel people made a lot of the arrangements for us and they made sure that we were taken care of. My wife needed to have an extended seat on the plane and they arranged for that. It was a very good experience because they took care of almost everything once we called in. Since then, we've been using them and every time we took a trip, we've always had an insurance with them. The customer service has been absolutely excellent and I’d recommend them to many other people. We have a trip coming up in the next few months and we've already put in an insurance with them.

So far, my experience with Generali Global Assistance hasn't been bad. The price of their travel insurance is decent and comparable to that of other companies. But before travelers go to a certain area, Generali could provide them through email with the phone numbers and the addresses of hospitals and doctors in the area because when an emergency comes, they wouldn’t have the time to look for this information.

We travel a lot so we get travel insurance often and I’ve used Generali Global Assistance and Travel Guard before. I chose Generali this time and their website works very well. Sometimes if I go with a group, their insurance can be less expensive than buying it straight from a travel insurance agent or company. And sometimes it’s more, so it depends on what the group offers. We generally get travel insurance depending upon how much of a cost or the refundability issue.
In our current circumstance, my wife’s mother is in a rehab facility right now and her health can go up and down any time. Also, my wife and I are both in our 70s so we also could have something happen. Generali's services are fine and we know what kind of coverage we want. And so, as long as it’s the middle of the road, we don’t need high-end stuff and we don’t need the cheapest either, so it worked out fine. All in all, my experience with acquiring the insurance was very good, didn’t have any issues and easy to do.

I’ve used Generali a number of years ago. Their online form is very easy to use compared to Travel Guard. It has been good whereas, with Travel Guard, you customize it and spend more time trying to figure out what you want. I’m in my early 60s and the most important thing I was looking for in an insurance is the medical because once you leave the states, most medical policies are not covered. Generali’s policy seems to be pretty good and that was why I got it. And when I go on trips, I never use the insurance policies that are offered by the tour company or the cruise company.
Their website was very easy to use. I call Generali to just purchase the medical coverage and it’s extremely cheap. I can get a $100,000 worth of medical evacuation so it’s $60 a person or less than that. And if people knew how cheap you could get that part of it, they could always buy that part. I’ve had people asked me, “What travel insurance do you use?” And I mention Generali but I just say CSA.
Generali’s customer service has been good. I had a claim in August of last year. I called in and did some of the processes online too. I told them that there was going to be a claim, and then they told me what they needed. They were very busy at the time, especially online. They could have used more people and there were a lot of claims at the time. Whatever information they needed, like the doctor’s reports, the information about the actual cruise about when the departure and when to head back. The process was pretty straightforward. They requested certain information for the claim and then it was paid.

My claim with Generali Global Assistance has been pending for months. Their reps were friendly but I’m extremely frustrated. The first time I mailed in the claim for this particular loss that I had, I didn’t get a response. It has been a long time because the one time I had used them with CSA before, it was a very quick turnaround. I finally called and Generali didn’t have my application or claim form. It was mailed weeks before and someone lost my claim. It had a return address on it and I didn’t get a return to the post office. I had to send another claim and some information that I had with the original claim I didn’t have copies of.
This whole thing has been held up because I had gone to the doctor. That’s how I ended up having a claim. I didn’t have the forms the second time around. I just had a copy of my doctor’s statement of what was wrong that caused me to cancel the trip. The trip cost me $8000 because of the expenditures that I’ve had for different countries’ requirements of visas and I just made a claim for $7000 because that was the thing that I could easily verify. That’s what the company that handled the trip charged me. I have been going back and forth. This was last October and at this point, I just want to tell Generali to cancel my claim and to send me back my policy payment because they are not going to honor the policy. After months of waiting, I still haven’t gotten the payment from Generali Global Assistance for my loss and I haven’t had an update in about four weeks.
We're sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and for not meeting your expectations. I was meeting up with my sister who was coming from across the country and I looked online for travel insurance that I wanted to purchase for myself because we had booked so far in advance and I was making sure that I was covered for the trip. In the last four years that we've purchased insurance, it was for our cruises. I liked the price of Generali Global Assistance. The customer service reps that I talked to initially and a couple of times later on when I was trying to get an update were great and they were always very nice and professional. The people that I first spoke with were wonderful and they were very nice and helpful. My only bad experience with Generali was that the claim process took a long time and I was having to call for updates after two and a half months.
I submitted a claim with Generali when my elderly father fell and broke his hip. I had to fly to Washington to help out and I had to move him into assisted living. This happened three weeks before our cruise. I got the paperwork right away when I contacted Generali. They emailed me everything and I filled it out, and I sent it off on the 1st of November when I got back from Washington.
I didn't hear anything from them after the first of the year and I called back, but they didn't have an update. Then I got an email saying that the information was submitted but they needed more information. I also got another email saying that they couldn't get some of the information from the cruise line and that I needed to contact the cruise line. But that was basic information, like what my charge was and the date that I canceled the cruise, so I don't know why that was such a hold-off. Also, they already had my reservation number and all the cruise information that I gave them. I had to contact the cruise company and they forwarded the information. So, basically, the claim process took four months. On the other hand, my sister got the cruise insurance directly through the cruise line and she was reimbursed in six weeks, so there was a big difference.

If we’re going somewhere I normally buy travel insurance. I went to Disney World and a beach vacation, and there's an insurance section on each of the travel packages. I checked the box to use the insurance. At Disney World, a couple of years ago when Hurricane Matthew came to Florida, we were trying to get out of the state before the hurricane hit. Talking to the Generali customer service reps was fairly easy. They told me how to submit the claim and they would review it. If they deemed that the park was closed they said they would pay the hotel room no matter what. The park was indeed closed, and they paid us back for two days of park closure, then we got two nights of hotel stay refunded back because we had the insurance.
It was a pretty simple request and it was easy to go through. I did it online. I showed the dates of purchase and verification things, and that's about it. Within a month from the time I submitted the claim, everything was reimbursed. It was two to three weeks of turnaround. I would recommend Generali. You can’t control all the situations. The cost of the trip made me purchase insurance, and on a $10,000 trip, paying an extra $200 is well worth it.

When I booked our cruise, three travel insurance companies were mentioned and I called a couple of them. Generali was the first one to respond and when I called, they were very helpful. They immediately answered my questions so I didn’t bother with anybody after that. There were numerous plans and there was some grid with five columns for all the different ages and where we were going along our trip. Based on that, I went with Generali. My husband and I travel quite often and I've never had insurance on either one of us, but we were going to Europe that time and my husband just turned 86.
The young lady asked all the pertinent questions and I answered them. Then she said she would send me something in the email in the next few moments. She did and the information was correct except she totally did not include my husband. Although it was priced with him, I was a little paranoid about it because I wanted to make sure I had everything in proper order in case something did happen.
When I called back, I got a gentleman and I explained the situation to him. I gave him the young lady's name and he pulled it up on the screen because there was an account number that came with it. He saw it right there and he said he could fix that right away and send it to me. He asked if there was any other problem and I thought it was okay but I asked if he would mind checking for me 'cause he knew more than I. He did and not even 15 minutes later, I got the corrected information that showed both my husband's name and mine. The reps were supportive of each other and it was professionally handled.
They also told me how to go about things and I felt somewhat knowledgeable since I knew jack-ups about insurance. I gave them examples and they had answers. I felt I was totally covered. I was comfortable going out of the country knowing that I had a support staff that was ready to help. I felt very safe and secure. I'm glad we didn’t have to use the insurance but I felt warm and fuzzy about it.

I’ve used Generali several times over the years. I've usually checked out maybe three or four different sources that I’ve used in the past and they were all pretty close when it comes to the price. They’re generally within just a few dollars of each other. There’s some subtle differences sometimes in coverage. But if you try and compare the same kind of policy with the same level of coverage, Generali's prices are pretty competitive. I bought the insurance online and it was a pretty easy process.
I filed a medical claim with them. I got fairly sick on a lengthy cruise, and had to go to the ship’s sick bay. It turned out that I actually had pneumonia. And they had to treat me for that on the ship. When filing a claim I had to go online, get the forms, and print them out. I called their claims agent when we got back from the cruise. The individual was helpful. They talked to me at length about what to do. I was pretty impressed with their efficiency in handling the claim. It was completely non-hassle. I had expected frankly to go through quite a process to get them to actually honor the claim. But that was not the case. It was handled very effectively and quickly. I was very satisfied.

Speaking to Generali's rep was good. I spoke with a young lady that day. She did a good job. She told me what they had based on what I was expecting. I purchased the insurance because it was going along a thin line on what I was looking for. However, after that, I never got any email with the policy number from them. I think they got the wrong email from me. They were only happy that they got the money. I could have gone back online and find the 1-800 Number and call them. But then, I got real busy that I never went back and I didn’t have the time to do all that. My only prayer was that I didn’t need to use them, which I didn’t. So, I'm glad. When you buy insurance then you expect to hear from them and tell you what your policy is going to cover, what it's not going to cover and all those. I never got anything. I had used Generali before and it recently forwarded me to their website. They were not directly affiliated with the travel company or cruise line I was using. Many times when people make a claim, the insurance people only cover a portion or segment that people had purchased with them. By going with a third party company such as CSA or Generali, it allows us to be covered if we left our house two days ahead of time before a scheduled tour. Whereas if we purchased the insurance from the tour company, it wouldn’t start till when we actually joined the tour. It wasn’t the hugest savings but it was acceptable based on the ease of selection in their website as well as them being a third party. That was why I went there in the first place, and certainly why I have continued.
When you go online, you can pull up the insurance policy at Generali, which is like 14 pages long. The policy itself is not very user-friendly. There are wordings that say, "If it could not have been prevented." It seems as though the the wordage has a way out as if they didn’t want to cover somebody at some point. I called one time and asked if I would be covered if I broke my leg and I had to come back to the country, and my partner and I wanted to travel back to the country to have my leg put in a cast and corrected. They said I'd be covered, but it didn’t seem like it would have been covered after reading the actual policy myself. If there’s a paraphrase or a one-page explanation that could be done, it would be great.

They had purchased the $99 CSA Policy through VRBO. So I immediately filed a claim with CSA and reported the damages to this insurance company. The renter denied doing the damage, so the claim was denied. I asked the CSA rep - "Do you think a renter would admit that they damaged things?" Her response was if it was deliberate, CSA wouldn't cover the claim in that case either.
So I called the person who rented the house and talked to them myself. The renter told me that they paid the insurance for these kinds of accidents and they did not close the case. So I told him if he is willing to help me to reopen the case, and he said, "Yes. I will send email to the CSA to reopen the case". But this insurance company did not open the case. They didn't even connect me to tell me why they are not opening my case. This is their reason to not help you: The renter denied doing the damage so we can't help you & we close your case - that's mean you are ** up - we will not help you. We purchased travel insurance through HomeAway with CSA Travel Protection for a vacation rental property in Utah. Our flights were canceled due to the 12/17/17 power outage at the Atlanta Airport. We were unable to rebook flights and as a result we were forced to cancel the trip. We submitted a request for a refund of the vacation rental due CSA's allowed event of a "Trip cancellation as a result of Common Carrier delays and/or cancellations resulting from adverse weather, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft."
We believed that this event certainly qualifies as a mechanical event. However, CSA denies that loss of electrical power at an airport = mechanical event. While I was informed that I could file a claim, an agent told me that it would be denied. So when over 1000 flights are canceled due to a catastrophic event such as this, CSA finds a way to deny any coverage. This company is fraudulent and we are willing to sue them.

I was going on a trip and was looking for travel insurance. We’d used CSA Travel Protection before, so we went back to their website and it redirected us to Generali. The coverages were typical, but I'd had good luck before with CSA’s claim service and so I'd hoped I’d have the same with Generali. We had a claim to make because of a delay. I submitted the paperwork, they processed the claim really quickly and I got my payment quickly. They're competitively priced and easy to work with.

Purchased CANCEL FOR ANY REASON travel insurance thru CSA. No medical documentation needed. Got critically ill, cancelled, filed claim, took 79 days to get our payment. Told “lots of claims, hurricanes, etc”. They’re an insurance company, should staff for disasters. Terrible claim turnaround time. Will never purchase insurance with them again.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and for not meeting your expectations. We take customer service and the claims review process very seriously and strive to provide a fair, equitable and timely process for all customers. We were going to take the family to the Florida Keys in March 2018. We made reservations at Hawk Cay. We purchased the CSA Travel Protection through Experience. We received a note with policy number saying we had 10 days to cancel. I assumed (first mistake) that we would receive their policy in the mail to review. We didn't and I forgot. Then hurricane Irma hit. We thought we would be fine since it wasn’t till March 2018. Next on October 17, 2017 we received a cancellation notice from Hawk Cay that due to hurricane Irma they still would not be operational in March 2018. Hawk Cay sent a refund with three weeks. We immediately put in a claim to seek reimbursement (close to 3000 dollars). We waited to hear. My daughter in law received a denial response (she had different policy with CSA) beyond 30 days and since trip was not till March 2018 period not covered.
I did receive a survey from CSA on my experience with claims. Mind you I personally have received nothing but the survey request. As I said, I had different claim and policy number. Hurricane Irma was declared a Emergency by the President. It was a single event. Within 30 days our hotel won’t be operational, plus they won’t be in operation until maybe June 2018. If this insurance does not cover a single event disaster then why bother with it. Now that I have read reviews, it appears this company doesn’t cover much. I would never recommend this company. I, personally feel they should be required to provide customer with a copy of their policy and then give 10 days cancellation. This will be my recommendation to the California Attorney’s Generals Office, as well as, Better Business Bureau and the Insurance Commissioner. Save your money or check your credit card company for travel insurance. This insurance obviously deserves the reviews of 1.

We were going to Paris, London, and Ireland, and I was on site for tours and Generali popped up. They had a better price compared to other companies that I had looked at. So, I immediately went ahead and got their insurance. And then, I told my daughter, and she and her husband got it as well. We had some issues going on at home because we had family members who weren’t doing too well, and it was an expensive trip. So we wanted to make sure that if someone got ill, we wouldn’t lose our money.
I started out trying to purchase the insurance online. There was something that I wanted to know that wasn’t on there. I called and somebody helped me and answered all my questions. I’m not a risk taker, so having a travel insurance was valuable. Other people said it was a waste of money, but it just depends on your personality and your funds. I saved a long time for that money so I wasn’t willing to lose it. I definitely would recommend Generali because of their price and their people was very nice and helpful.

I used Generali for when I went to Mexico and they were great. I got everything I needed right away. I signed up for it and I paid $80 for a three-day trip and then I had the paperwork within a couple of hours. The first guy I got didn't really understand what I was looking for and then I got another guy who knew everything I needed to know. I mean he's just "Okay. We'll do this. We'll do this." I was going with a group and I told them where I was going, Cedros Island. Their rep looked it up and he found out what group I was going to. Within 20 minutes I was done with him and two hours later I had everything in my email. It was real good. I only had them once and I'll be using them again this year. I would definitely recommend them.

We had to pay for a hotel plus additional expenses, which should have been covered. I tried calling the company from Venice, and Generali Global's system would ring and hang up. We couldn't contact anyone for help. Back from our trip, we had to send all our paperwork to have someone file a claim for us. We filed in September and this is Dec 4, no one contacted us. We got a letter in the mail that said even though our trip was interrupted due to carrier, they were denying our claim. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO REACH THEM AND THEY WILL KEEP GIVING YOU THE RUNAROUND. They will not pay you.

When I went to Europe and paid for the trip through Traveldoo, they offered travel insurance, but I wanted to make sure that I was getting the best price because it was going to be an expensive trip. I did an internet search and there was an article listing the top 10 travel insurance provider and what to watch out for. Generali got higher ratings, then I went on their website and liked what I saw. I found their price to be more competitive and with the same amount of coverage.
After I purchased the insurance, I got a thorough follow up email that explained everything and I didn’t find any fine print anywhere, which I appreciated. Everything was very upfront and clear. I understood what my coverage was if a certain thing happens and I wouldn’t be caught up with any surprises. I would recommend them. Look at all the reviews on this page. I wish I had. This company is trash and they are a scam. Along with justfly.com. It took a while just because it was short term and it was a total of three flights to get home. I was quite pleased and they didn't argue with us on the financial end.
