I've had Geico for several years. At every renewal they raise my rate and say it's because of where I live. I was in 2 accidents in the last billing period which were not my fault and I did not use my insurance. They raised my rate $200 a month and said it's because I had 2 not-at-fault accidents. They said I was in a different risk area because of this. I was literally not doing anything wrong and I got hit. This could happen to anyone and they even deemed it not-at-fault. They didn't pay even 1 cent out and still raised my insurance by $200. They used to be a wonderful company and I would put up with them raising my rates literally at every renewal but this is too much and it's ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Filed a claim because a car wash wrecked my truck. Car wash said they would pay but it wasn’t a guarantee so we filed a claim with GEICO. When we filed, we asked geico if they would pursue damages from the car wash for reimbursement. They said they MIGHT. THIS WAS TWO YEARS AGO. No response from geico for two years saying they were pursuing the car wash. Only communication from them was via email saying that claim was still open. Repair from body shop was $2,334. We paid $1,000 deductible, geico paid the rest. Geico sent us a $400 check and paid the rest of the balance to the body shop. We called the car wash to get reimbursed for ONLY the deductible, NOT THE WHOLE AMOUNT. It was the car wash’s fault so they happily paid us. Mind you, we haven’t heard from geico in TWO years. We didn’t know if they contacted the car wash to get OUR deductible back so we can get reimbursed for something that WASNT OUR FAULT.

Two years later geico says they are terminating our claim because WE pursued the car wash (AFTER TWO YEARS) and got our deductible. Geico also made us pay back the money they paid to the body shop!! They sent it to collections also. They charge us $300 a month for insurance. We have no tickets and no accidents on our record and now we are leaving them to find another insurance company. We will NEVER use them again. They could’ve gotten $300 a month from us for forever but they want to be difficult over $1,400! What kind of business sense is that? The claims adjuster handling our claim should be fired. I wonder if her supervisor thinks it’s good business practice to lose a customer paying 300/month forever; for a measly $1,400.

I am writing this in hopes I can save people some trouble if they live in the Los Angeles County Area. I experienced Flooding Damages to my Vehicle on 08/20/23 when Tropical Storm Hilary hit the area. What seemed to be a clean-cut case turned into a nightmare that cost me $4,500 out of pocket. Please keep in mind that these claims adjusters will lie and they are not on your side. They will tell you what work to get done, and once the work is done they bring in a new adjuster who was not there to hear the account of the story to deny the claim. They understand that most folks do not understand insurance or a policy. They will take full advantage for their own gain. From claims adjusters, to supervisor, to management they are dismissive, rude, and doing their best not to support you.

I am currently in the process of filing with the California Insurance Department that will hopefully lead to a settlement or the opportunity to take the adjustor to small claims court. The steps to take if you have to file a claim with GEICO is:
1.) Get support from a lawyer right away, before the claim is made

2.) Document anything and everything so you can document the lies

If you have been denied here are the steps to take after:
1.) UPhelp.org is a great resource and a non for profit to help battle bad faith insurance companies
2.) File with the states insurance agency

3.) Serve the GEICO Law department for small claims court. If damages are under 10,000$ you can file under small claims court so GEICO cannot have their legal team involved. In court, it will be you against the adjuster. Most of the time they will not want to do this and they will settle. GEICO will become more and more unresponsive as you attempt to get justice for you and your family. Be patient and seek support from public advocates. GEICO will gaslight you into thinking you are out of pocket or wrong for pursuing justice but do not give up! Claims adjusters only need a GED and to pass a test. They are not car experts by any means. Be patient and have faith, but a good place to start is not ever getting any sort of policy through GEICO. I learned the hard way and I hope this helps people steer clear of supporting a company that acts in bad faith and rarely rightfully indemnifies clients to pre-loss conditions under any kind of policy! Thank you!

From there we are called fraudsters accused of being involved with their insured in causing the damage, this moved onto Geico making us chase them as they would not respond to emails and what phone calls they did converse in were filled with lies and deception imo. They seem to be using tactics I thought were exposed and long gone from today's insurance industry seemingly done to hold onto money as long as possible...I don't have Geico for insurance and NEVER will.

16+yrs with Geico, no accidents, premiums go up 10-20%/yr. Finally had my first claim with them (Nov 2023 deer strike, not-at-fault). My 2022 Nissan Leaf was bought for $32k last year, now Geico offering <50% of it's value after only 1yr, in this car market. They offer you less, hoping you'll agree, and if you fight hard enough they may throw a few $ your way but they know they have the advantage. It's a no-lose game for them and you're just a #. Unfortunate. Work with a local company instead who may care more or at least will be a better value. Do better Geico. Warren Buffett is still awesome though!

Rating: 1/5. As a policyholder with Geico I am utterly disappointed and appalled by the recent conduct of the company. Without my knowledge or consent, geico added another driver to my policy and unilaterally changed the policy premium, all under the guise of a so-called "system-generated risk and probability." This egregious behavior is a clear violation of trust and demonstrates a blatant disregard for ethical business practices.

The lack of transparency exhibited by geico is deeply concerning. As a policyholder, I expect to be informed of any changes to my policy, especially those that directly impact my coverage and premium. The fact that these alterations were made without my consent is not only unethical but also undermines the very foundation of the insurance provider-customer relationship.

Moreover, attributing these changes to a "system-generated risk and probability" is an inadequate explanation for such significant adjustments. It appears to be an attempt to justify an unjustifiable action, further exemplifying the company's lack of accountability and responsibility towards its policyholders. In light of these recent events, I cannot in good conscience recommend geico to anyone seeking insurance coverage. The company's actions have eroded the trust that is essential in the insurance industry, and I am left feeling vulnerable and taken advantage of as a policyholder. I fervently hope that geico reevaluates its business practices and prioritizes transparency, integrity, and respect for its policyholders. Until then, I advise individuals to exercise caution when considering geico for their insurance needs.

I finally needed them recently and when the Claims process is completed, I will be dropping them for their competitor. For example, I give them info they request, then they call and email me for the next few days after that requesting me to repeat the same information "their system" doesn't show. It's more than aggravating, it's unprofessional incompetence! The reason it's upsetting is because it's happened 5 times for various things EVEN after they have the info, they either lose it or simply are NOT the company they used to be.

When you call for reimbursement because they didn’t communicate something regarding your policy - they do not budge. Loyalty doesn’t mean anything to them. Last of all, some of their customer service reps are smug and disrespectful. The man we spoke with was so patronizing we switched insurance carriers immediately following our conversation.

They are the best at NOT providing full enclosure which makes this the worst auto Insurance company you can get. Plus, bad customer service. I thought the medical world was bad, Geico has them beat. They had priced my policy without uninsured motorist. This is how the price was comparable to others. This is on me since I didn't look closely at the declaration. I learned my lesson. Anytime you renew look at each detail. I decided to switch the way I paid. I spent 30 mins to assure I fully understood the ramifications by paying monthly and how much each payment would be. I paid the 1st and last month. It was laid out exactly how much I would pay each month with a $5.00 service included for each month. This I understood. I decided to switch to another company 33 days later.

When I called to cancel the policy, I noticed the bill went up $650+ for 4 months and the monthly rate went up (of course). They stated I would be getting only $300+ because of the rate change. If I had called 3 days earlier this would not have been an issue because the billing would not have changed. Plus... the agent I talked to when I was going monthly NEVER told me the price change. I would have cancelled earlier and/or I would have paid in full. Once again full disclosure didn't occur. This was not on me but on the agent didn't inform me. It was an error on Geico’s part and they should pay me back based on what I was told.

I proceeded to talked to agents going up the chain of supervisors that they still owe me $250+. They just keep telling me, "There is nothing we can do." Yes, there is - create a credit for what is owed to me. Even the Medical insurance world would see their error and provide a credit, it’s called good customer relations. Geico doesn’t have a good customer relation. I’m waiting for a supervisor to return my calls but nothing is happening. Geico has put money in their pocket that is not theirs. Please provide the proper credit.

They said it was a total loss. I only wanted to pay $4000 and then found out I had a lienholder on my car so they were going to pay them instead of me so I was stuck with no car, no money to get another car and told after two days I had to get out the Rent-A-Car. I get a phone call from an investigator saying that he’s investigating my claim and he asked me some questions while I was in the hospital on my deathbed with liver failure.

He then says they’re investigating it because I couldn’t answer some questions while in the hospital on my deathbed and they want to do a recording interrogation. They have continuously stress me out. I have dashcam footage of the accident and the other guy who caused the accident was arrested. When I tried explaining this to the insurance agency they told me they didn’t care and then placed me at fault, after fighting them I got the dispute open. It doesn’t get any better from there, the adjuster has ignored me the whole time not answering my questions or concerns and when I escalated to his manager I realized the manager was just as bad and he also ignored my concerns and questions.

One of my doors will no longer open and it was on the side involved and they won’t even take that into consideration and I certainly don’t want my car back still broken. I also got into an argument about my car's value and provided them with references and documents and they still will not answer my questions and concerns and I have reached out several times. The whole process has been miserable from beginning to now and it has been 2 weeks with no resolution. They’ve made me feel like I’m bothering them and had me set up everything on my own and I have been a loyal customer for over 2 years with them paying on time every month.

It makes me wonder why I even have insurance in the first place and I don’t recommend this company to anyone. I have been a GEICO customer for many years, always paying my premium on time. We went several years without any incident but the premium was not lowered. In 2021 my wife had an accident in which her car was totaled and in 2023 my son had an accident in which they paid about 6K. None of my cars are expensive cars. My wife's car is a CRV and son has a Honda Civic. So after paying thousands of dollars in premium they paid one big 20K and one 6K claim and now they want to cancel my policy. So basically customers are supposed to have 0 up to a max of the premium value so that GEICO does not lose money. Please make sure to not submit a big claim and pay from your own pocket if you don't want your insurance cancelled.

I was even willing to pay higher rates but I was told that is not an option. So GEICO has become a third rate, pathetic, piece of junk company. The best part was when my son needed roadside assistance, that is one story that will bring tears to your eyes. Run as fast as you can and don't even think of buying from them. They rather pay $1000s instead of $100s on repairs. If you're ever in an accident with their client, don't bother making a claim. Call a lawyer immediately and let the lawyer deal with them. Not worth the back and forth or headache. Plus they are terrible to disabled elderly people. Just sue them and let them pay more than the repairs and rental.

When I spoke with the agent, they said they sent Certified Mail stating the cancelation. I said that Certified Mail requires a signature, but he said he wouldn't show it to me. He insinuated that I *forgot* that I signed it. He told me I was being dropped for using my policy within 60 days of having it (I tapped a car backing out of my driveway), and that I no longer reached the standard for insurability.

He also refused to say if the mail was actually Certified and that in the time I spent arguing semantics, that I could have found insurance elsewhere. It's not semantics - if I had signed, I wanted a copy of that... Anyway, they can drop for any reason before 60 days - that's their right - but seems silly that paying for insurance and then using the insurance too soon makes you uninsurable. Also, I'm lucky I was enrolled in autopay or I would, in fact, have been uninsured. I've used Liberty Mutual before and they were pricey, but great. I have never had an accident in 55 years. Nearly 5 years ago my ex girlfriend was hooked on her pain meds for her back. When I wasn't home she took my truck getting into a small bender breaking a tail lite on my truck and the other car. They raised my insurance $1000 a year for 5 years. They said had I reported her for stealing it would be fine. So what I was supposed to do was send her to jail instead of her getting help. Didn't even get their accident forgiveness, they lie about that too. But to even bring this up almost 5 years later. They said it's because they have up to 5 years to decide if the rates should be raised. 2 more months and it would have been fine. This means the reviewer had a bad day, did not take all into consideration or that Geico just doesn't care about their customers, especially one that's been with them for almost 20 years. It's simple. Read what's there in the reviews, everything is written so you don't get screwed.

What Geico needs to learn is to go broke like they're doing to to everyone of their customers. They are not trustworthy, they are sneaks. I'd like to have their rep come to my doorstep and explain it all to me, 'cause I'd nicely ask the person if they're covered by Geico's health insurance 'cause they may need it and they should check on it to see if they're fully covered. Cause they would for sure need more than a week. Accidents can happen. "Geico, you're a bunch of scum balls. You don't care about your customers, you probably screw your own family members."

I had HUGE out of pocket expenses because they NEVER pay the prevailing labor rates. The average for my area is $85/hr.. They pay only $65/hr.. That is a $20 difference!!! They also skimp on the number of hours per job. So, they don't know the repair business, period. Their agents are a ignorant (James **). Their supervisors are liars (Maya **). I and my partner have been with Geico since we moved to Nevada just about 7 years ago. All was well until recently when our auto policy was due for renewal. It arrived on September 30th and I nearly passed out. A 33% increase with absolutely no explanation. Our auto is in fantastic shape, but 14 years old and we have never had tickets or reported any claims as there are none. When I called, two agents hung up on me when I asked to speak with a supervisor, and two others gave me a ridiculous explanation that it cost more to fix cars now, and medical coverage also costs more. Wrong...My own mechanic said it costs no more to fix a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old car as all the parts would be used as new no longer is available. And when you check into an er or hospital, they always ask for your own insurance id first, not your car insurance.

Several of my friends and neighbors have told me it is purely because I recently turned 65. Geico seems to have a problem with anyone 65 or older as a driver, although I am likely better than 95% of what is on the road operating a car or truck in this city. This city is a haven for migrants, and we all know they get insurance for an hour and then simply stop paying, but get handed anything and everything anyway, like licenses, etc. And if not, they carry on like banshees at dmv or wherever in their typical entitled style. A very unscrupulous company, that has no regard for right or wrong and least of all for anyone 65 or over. And very ignorant and obnoxious agents who are supposed to help but don't. Great job GEICO. Keep up the good work.

BUT I have been on autopay for the last 5+yrs and never missed a payment. I forgot before my auto payment was due the first of this month, that it was set for a card that had been cancelled due to theft. I immediately got the declined notification (thank you Apple wallet!) and changed my payment that same day. 5 days later, GEICO attempts to charge the old card which has been completely deleted from my account.

I call to rectify the situation - and they tell me there is nothing they can do about it,,,and the “computer” does it on the back end. I explain that I don’t want to be responsible for nonpayment, they stated “oh no there is a grace period…the computer may or may not attempt to use the replacement card for its next payment attempt.” How do these people not know how their system works? How can they not manually input/remove payments? This morning - I open my email, and yep, just as I thought…email from GEICO threatening to cancel my policy. Unbelievable!! Updated on 01/06/2024: If you live in NJ and when Geico renewed you your rate sky rocketed, well you need to file with the NJ Banking & Insurance Commission. In 9/2023 our rates increased 291% after an accident in January. We had accident forgiveness on an accident from 9/2019 but when the incident happened in 1/2023, they removed that forgiveness and put us in a different entity that increased our risk factor and rates when the renewal date arrived. We were in the Government Employees entity and then they moved us to Indemnity Company entity.

Look at previous declaration documents of your policy and see if they have the accident forgiveness listed. Then look and see if they moved you from one entity to another. This is against the policy regulations. Geico had to move our policy back and put us at our previous rate because the Banking and Insurance Commission got involved and called them out on the move and that it is against regulation per their own policy. The sad part is I did point them out to them on numerous phone calls but they think they can do do and say anything with the consumer.

Original review: Had Geico for 14 1/2 years. So this experience is not just a fly by night thing on a policy that has been in effect for a few months or even years. Had an accident in 2019 that was forgiven under the accident forgiveness (yes I understand it doesn't remove the accident but it doesn't have the surcharge associated, therefore not factored into a rate increase). 2023 had a claim filed that we disputed with the company upon finding out they paid it, $2800, without even reaching out to us, the policyholders, or inspecting our vehicle (no damage) to do the due diligence in the matter. Didn't even have a police report for the claim at that time. They later used our report provided on site by the officer when we emailed it to them after the claim was already made.

We asked that they do not pay this claim as there was no proof our vehicle damaged the parked car in any way and they the person, uninsured and not licensed, was looking to get prior damage repaired at someone else's expense. Didn't want to hear it from us and went on to pay the claim, again which was $2800. 7 months later our renewal comes out and our premium has increased 291%. Not that I would have but I was better off paying the individual out of pocket for his scam as it now cost $1140 a month vs $392. Their reasoning, with the accident in 2023 and removing the 2019 accident forgiveness, you have 2 accidents in the last 5 years. This means we can no longer insure you under the current entity, so we moved you to another entity of ours that has much higher rates to continue with your coverage. Wait what?

You undo the accident forgiveness so we go from 0 in our rate review to 2? And it took 7 months, we had another renewal after the accident and prior to the increase that wasn't affected. So Geico must have a department that looks at what you would pay with other companies when you get that second incident and then adjust your records on their side to make you fit the bill of such. This has to be illegal. Already filed with the Bankers & Insurance Division with the state and will be looking at other legal options. Geico is a crook and should be accountable for its actions that are nothing but shady. I have no problem in being responsible for my actions if there was an incident with a vehicle. But this was just wrong from day one when they paid that fraudulent claim.

To whom it may concern, Over the last 17 years, our family has been a loyal customer of GEICO, with all payments made on time with no late payments or lapse in insurance coverage on record. During our time with GEICO, we never shopped around other car insurance companies or asked them for quotes. Currently, we have 4 cars insured with GEICO under full coverage. Within the last two years, GEICO recorded 4 incidents on our record. While we take accountability for the first incident on 11/30/2022, despite the inclement weather conditions, we take full accountability for the accident within the traffic circle at Stony Brook University. We were told verbally over the phone that the accident on November 30th had “accident forgiveness” as it was the first accident.

However, the other 3 incidents on record in the last two years are not our fault whatsoever. The next incident on record, 05/01/2023, was a hit and run on the Rogue vehicle in the middle of the night with nobody in the car or present at the scene when it occurred. We had filed a police report and sent all possible footage to the police and GEICO, yet were unfortunately unable to obtain a license plate number, so the costs of repair were made on our behalf. The third incident on record, 02/11/2023 on the 2023 Hyundai Palisade was a rear-ender caused by another vehicle at a red light. State Farm, the insurance of the woman who rear ended the vehicle, had covered all repair costs—with no costs to cover on GEICO’s behalf.

The fourth and final incident on record, 08/05/2023 was recorded as a Comprehensive Loss on the 2023 Hyundai Palisade. While driving on the highway, the vehicle was behind a truck in which something had flown out and cracked the windshield. The windshield needed repair costs covered under the behalf of GEICO due to the sensors located on the windshield that required more specialized repair of the windshield—which did not have unreasonable repair costs. The three incidents on record that were not our fault, along with the accident forgiveness policy on the first accident on 11/30/2022, are not a testament of our driving nor make us a liability to discontinue insurance.

In addition to our punctual payments over the last 17 years, we have received discounts for 5 year Good Driver on the vehicles insured under GEICO, Defensive Driver Discount, Good Student Discount, along with other discounts due to the safety features located within the vehicles. These discounts include: Anti-Theft Device, Anti-Lock brakes, Passive Restraint, DayTime Running Lights, and Sponsored Marketing with Multi-Car Discount under the insurance policy. These discounts were given for reasons such as demonstration of good driving, along with proper safety features that reduce accident risk along with insurance costs.

After all these years of continuous service and loyalty with GEICO, along with a good record, we were told our current policy is being terminated, and we have more liability than the average driver insured by GEICO. We do not believe that this is fair nor a careful review, as we should not be penalized for these incidents on record. We would love to continue business with GEICO, yet this was an unjustified decision and that is poor treatment of loyal customers.

Please beware if you are considering Geico for personal auto insurance. Firstly, understand that there are many providers to choose from, this company is not the only insurance provider on the market. This is also not my first bad experience with Geico, so shame on me. Not that any other provider cares whatsoever about their clients as individuals, and I understand it’s a business seeking profit, but Geico couldn’t be any more blatant that their individual clients mean nothing to them, so why pay them any of your hard-earned money. After speaking with a representative, I realized I was just told to ** in the most polite, professional way I’ve ever been told to **. To start, your policy premium price is never going to be what you are told... it will always increase, almost immediately. The reason... you are paying for others who make claims.

It doesn’t matter that you are not the one making the claim. God forbid the wealthy at the top should lose profits, which could never possibly be a real loss of profit to them, considering the profit made by the thousands who pay premiums and never make a claim or cost the company a cent. So be prepared to see your initially agreed-upon rate increase quickly. More importantly, this company will mislead you. My particular experience proves this. I was involved in an accident several years ago which raised my insurance, rightfully so, (which is what should happen, rather than raising your insurance to offset my claim), causing me to pursue a new provider. Insert Geico. All past incidents were completely transparent with Geico at the time I signed up with them. No secrets.

They gave me a quote, I agreed, and here we are. It raised as it did in the past, the need to offset others claims nonsense, but I just left it alone and paid every month for two years. Then, randomly, my price went from $180 a month, initially $160, to $500 a month. When I called, I was told to **, politely, and the reason for the increase was “new underwriting policy” which allows them to go back five years and re-review the current policy and charge more. Not only is an increase of over $300 a month absurd, the real issue is, over the two years holding a policy with Geico, no claims were ever made, no accidents, not as much as a traffic violation.

It’s not like they went back and “found” hidden past history... it all perfectly clear and discussed when I first opened the policy two years ago. So to sum it up, thank you for being a safe driver, and making zero claims with us, however, we feel you are a liability after two years of safe driving and we are raising your insurance by over $300. No thank you. I requested immediate cancellation, and the response was not to let the door hit my ** on the way out. Some company. In fact, my new insurance provider said prior to me signing, all underwriting is done beforehand and Geico is known to use this tactic to raise premiums.

Also, Geico enjoys when you record the conversation... just before to inform them before you start the discussion. My agent, idk, Heather? (They won’t give anything to associate themselves as an employee) actually told me “I don’t consent to being recorded.” I told her I don’t either, and she said it’s their policy to record you lol. It was their customer that hit me. They continued to make errors and I had to do the leg work myself when they admitted to the error with the rental car. Horrible, horrible customer experience. They have lost all credibility and a simple apology would not even suffice.

STAY AWAY!!! They give you a competitive rate to begin with then hit you with a huge increase hoping you might not notice. This deceitful and fraudulent on every level. We have 4 cars insured with Geico. All of our cars are 2017 or older. So this means our newest car is 6 years old. They just raised our premium with no notice almost $300 more a month. At the time I switched over to this company, I brought many people with me. This is the thanks I get for trying to help a company succeed? If people aren't studying their automatic payments every month, they will be paying a higher rate than they agreed to. I'm sure Geico is banking on this. Let's see how long we can overcharge before the customer catches on. Shame on you! Absolutely nothing has changed for us. We all live in a rural area with older cars. Our new yearly premium would be $7,000! Please spread the word. These people need to be brought down.

Geico had an investigator contact and harass me about filing my claim, quizzing me like it was a preexisting issue and I was trying to make money off them. This is crazy and made me feel like I've done something wrong or they were trying to get me on something so they wouldn't have to pay the claim. I'm 62 and have never ever even treated this way with an insurance company. Wouldn't recommend them, I will now pay more if I have to and use another insurance company.

Geico is for the other driver not their customers. There is no way this woman should have been paid all this money for a bump. Will never use Geico again. I have been with Geico for over 4 years. I was in a auto accident that was not my fault. Problems started with the adjuster who gave me a lowball payout saying I had previous damage to vehicle. Asked him if he read the record because then he would know that he made a mistake. Took him several days to review the file. It took him so long to finally give me a legitimate payoff amount, I no longer had a car rental. Keep in mind, I had the rental for 10 days.

Now that I did agree to the amount that Geico was going to pay me, now I am being lied to by the claims department about actually receiving this money. I tried to get the money direct deposited but naturally their automated system did not recognize my bank's information, so this system decided to send me a check that would take 7-10 business days. I called and after days of trying, I spoke to a supervisor. She told me that she would send me a check overnight, (but she would cancel the other check), through UPS and that I would receive a email with tracking that it was sent. She has not sent me anything and in fact, I phoned her again, left a voicemail and naturally she would not even return my phone call. So basically I have a check that I should receive in 7-10 business days, (that has been cancelled), and I still have no idea when I will even receive my check.

While I am waiting to finally get my payout, I am forced to use Lyft or Uber for rides to and from any appointments. I have already paid my insurance 6 months in advance, don't even have a car that is insured and they have not even credited me for the days I have already paid for insurance. When I finally get my payout and can get another vehicle, I think it is time to go to another insurance company. Geico can just refund me the money I already paid for insurance and I will go to a insurance company that will actually tell me the truth and put me as a customer as a priority. Geico sounds great until you have to file a claim and then everyone just lies to the customer. If you are considering Geico, reconsider. If you are already with Geico, maybe you should shop around. Prime example that cheaper is not always better.

During this time, I had gotten a rental for two months and had been informed to save the receipts and provide them to GEICO so that I can get reimbursed. I sent multiple messages on my claims page requesting a timeline for the reimbursement but got no response. When I called in June, I was told that my insurance, State farm, and GEICO, were in arbitration and that upon its conclusion I would get my reimbursement. However, when arbitration concluded in July (I received my deductible back on 07/26/2023), I still did not receive any reimbursement.

I called today, 09/11/2023, and had been informed that somehow the claims team had "not received any requests from my insurance in regards to rental reimbursement" and therefore had not been aware of it. I believe this is bad faith as they not only had my uploaded documents 6 months ago but that I had sent them two messages as well as two phone calls inquiring about this. I simply would like GEICO to be informed of their bad faith practice and to reimburse me without delay.

Incorrect information filed by GEICO. I have had an auto insurance policy with GEICO for many years and I am filing a complaint against GEICO auto insurance claims division (see details below). Due to GEICO Auto Insurance having raised my cost for renewal of my current auto insurance policy, I recently decided to shop around for pricing for an auto insurance policy through different auto insurance companies. After reviewing a few quotes from other auto insurance companies, I have decided to move forward with a auto insurance quote that was provided to me from Progressive Direct Auto.

In doing so after answering all questions that the Progressive agent has asked me, the agent said asked if I have had any recent claims with GEICO, my answer was no, and he asked permission to run a claim report and my reply was that I had no past claims and yes, I give you permission to run the requested report. After a moment or two the agent notified me that GEICO reported that I submitted a Glass Breakage Claim on Jan 25, 2023 for my 2016 Chrysler Town & Country. I immediately told the agent that I did not file a claim and was only inquiring about what is covered under my comprehensive glass policy through GEICO as I recently moved from Connecticut to Florida and had questions.

The Progressive agent then told me that they could not honor the previous quote that I received and unfortunately the new quote would cost me $346.00 more per year. The agent then told me that I can dispute the said claim report with LexisNexis or have GEICO send me a what is called "Letter of Experience" from GEICO. So, I contacted GEICO and explained what was going on and requested a "Letter of Experience".

After spending two plus hours talking to multiple people at GEICO glass claims department, they sent me the so-called requested "Letter of Experience" but the letter still stated that I made a claim, my reply once again was "No I had an inquiry about coverage and in addition there was no claim paid to me." The agent said that there was no dollar figure next to the so-called claim stated on this record. The GEICO representative also stated in order to answer my question about glass coverage they needed to open a claim ticket to answer my question, I then stated and said, "Wow, why so?" Their reply was that this is how their system works.

I then asked if they could please send me a revised letter stating that there was indeed no claim paid to me and this was simply an inquiry from me. GEICO did send a second letter to me but basically it said the same thing that a claim was filed, so here I am paying a higher rate for auto insurance because GEICO said it’s an automated system and we cannot delete this report. I am adamant and believe that this is an unjust statement to insurance consumers and is also highly falsified due to GEICOs inability to correct this problem due to said systems not being able to correct their mistake.

Geico jumped and claimed responsibility of accident with NO contact to us at all except when they sent the SURCHARGE bill estimate that was going to be coming. Now you may want to sit down for this. The damage to our car was replacing the entire nose of the car for $788.00 and then the damage Geico assessed to the other car was for $2130.00.

And now the charges.... We were paying $95 a month and the surcharge bill coming this month will be $238.00 per month and this will be for the next 5 to 7 years so at 5 years that's a whopping profit to Geico of around $8,580.00 for a minor scrape on the side of the other car. My advise to all stay the heck away from GEICO. They will rip you off as soon as they can legally. I only wish I could add photos of the other car.... What a joke.

When I came out the driver was waiting and said I had hurt her car (a lie). There was a tiny tiny scratch that had rust in it, so it wasn't fresh. I reported it to Geico, along with photos and the phone number of the carwash manager, who saw the whole thing. Geico NEVER called the manager, and raised my rates. They have it down as a rear-ending. My car was barely moving at all, and I only had the "accident" because the track of the carwash grabbed my tires and propelled me forward. So now I have a collision on my report even though it wasn't my fault. I had a minor fender issue from a deer that resulted in sub par work from professional con artists. Geico recommended the shop. Literally professional con artists. They stole a lot of money from Geico so now they are under investigation. Now I can't get my crappy work easily fixed as auto body shops don't want to fix someone else's shabby work. And it seems like the shop did some additional damage.

Problem #2. I pay for roadside assistance. They sent someone who had never jumped a car and they caused a reverse polarity in the car. It took 4 weeks for the shop to fix the electric and it was all due to Geico's insanity. They kept changing adjusters, reevaluating, etc. It was nuts and I had to make 25 calls to get this finished. Only con artists, incompetent or desperate service providers will work with Geico. The competent technicians stay away from Geico. So BE CAREFUL!! I've had Geico before and had considered going back with the company. But I just received a email going over the quote I received, and its higher rate was based on them checking my credit score. First off, it's not my insurance's business for what my credit score is because ultimately it has no impact on how I pay my bills. I think it's a backwards policy to get screwed over once again by a business conglomerate. Second as most of us know. Every time someone does an inquiry it dings our credit scores by 3-5 points every time. So either way it doesn't help.

I think the best policies and ideas are to actually cover what we as consumers pay for and not get screwed over cause the company doesn't want to pay out. Even worse is the fact is the moment that we report something they raise the rates. I live in a state where collectively there are many tickets and accidents...yet it's not something I do. Yet my rate is getting raised an extra fifty bucks because of the other drivers in my state. Where is the logic. One person screws up or is in a accident due to someone else and I personally have to pay for it. I don't understand anymore. But I wanted to get this out because frankly if it wasn't a law to have insurance...I wouldn't have it. But funny enough I have a different company.

I really had no complaints with GEICO before a few days ago. I recently purchased a motorcycle and got insurance through GEICO. So the night after I purchased my policy I was reviewing my Auto policy on the app. I noticed that one of my vehicles usage had been set to 15,000 miles per year. I didn’t know how this happened, because I had it set to 5-6000 before that. You may, or may not, know that setting the mileage to what you actually drive can lower your policy. We have put only 30,000 miles on this vehicle in the 6 years we have owned it, so it being set to 15,000 a year is a big problem.

That night I decided to use the chat inside the app to speak with someone so I could get it cleared up. The person on the chat couldn’t help me and said I would need to speak to a supervisor the next day. All I wanted to know is when it was changed (because I didn’t do it) and I would like reimbursed from the date that is was changed.

So the next day when I come home from work I give GEICO a call. I speak to someone on the phone about it. He tried to say that I was not overcharged, but the guy on the chat told me exactly how much my policy would go down per month if I changed it to my true mileage. It was around 15 dollars a month extra I was paying per month because of this change. So, the guy on the phone said that it has been changed when I moved(less than 2 miles down the road)… way back in 2019. Apparently when you change address it will default your mileage to 15,000.

I was very upset at this point because I had found out I was being overcharged for 4 years. And to make things worse - you cannot change the mileage in app and they wanted me to fill out a mileage form and send it to them. So, it is really convenient that they can default my mileage to 3 times what I had listed, without a mileage form, but when you want to change it back you have to jump through hoops. I tell the person on the phone that I will not be filling out a mileage form until I get a reimbursement for the 4 years I had been overpaying. That was above his pay grade, so I ask to speak to a supervisor, and says that he will have one call me in 30 minutes. I wait, expecting a call, and do not receive it.

The next day I decide to give them a call again and ask to speak to a supervisor. I let the supervisor know that I was not going to be filling out a mileage form, because if I didn’t get reimbursed for what I had been overpaying, that I would be leaving GEICO that night. She said because it wasn’t a change they had made that they couldn’t do anything. Now, this is something I didn’t change either. It defaulted to a different mileage when I moved. I got no prompt asking if the mileage would be changed or anything.

So that night I got a quote from a competitor insurance and left GEICO. I I had been with them 10 years (since I started driving). I canceled my home owners, auto, and motorcycle insurance all at once. I never made a claim the whole time I had GEICO as well, so everything they made off me was profit. I will not ever recommend GEICO to anyone. They know exactly what they are doing with defaulting mileage when you move. I’m sure a lot more people are overpaying and don’t even realize it.

Within approx. 30 minutes, he corrected the cancellation date on our insurance so that it showed continuous coverage until we started with our new company. Grateful that Geico has some quality staff in their Customer Service department that understand what true customer service is!

I called Geico to cancel my auto policy that I've carried for many years. They tried hard to get me to stay with them but I had already obtained a new policy the day before. The next thing I knew I got a cancellation dated one month ago. I called them immediately to fix this and they told me that the rep documented that I had requested that date. I asked them to pull the call recording but they said it wasn't recorded. It now looks as if I had a gap in coverage and will impact my future insurance.

For 10 yrs I had my insurance with Hartford thru AARP, however at my last renewal in March my premium went up 50% so I got a couple of other quotes, one from Progressive and one from Geico who I already had my motorcycle insurance with. Both companies were ONE THIRD the cost of Hartford for exactly the same coverage and since I already had my motorcycle insurance with Geico I decided to go with them.... Big mistake. I also have an RV slide-in truck camper which I added to my auto (truck) policy but 2 weeks later while I was on vacation they sent me a form IN THE MAIL only demanding documentation on the camper which in the State of Idaho DOES NOT EXIST, with the threat that if it was not returned within a week my entire auto policy would be cancelled. The form arrived while I was gone and by the time I got home and opened it it was too late.

I had a car insurance policy with Geico that renewed 1/10/23. They doubled our premium, so we found coverage with another company. I called in December to cancel our policy. I let the representative know that we will be canceling and not renewing due to them doubling our premium. We have no history or car accidents, tickets, violations, so to double it was crazy to us. She responded back it was due to the medical claims. I still told her we'll be canceling because like everything else going up, this isn't an increase we can take on. I thought that was the end of it, but she failed to cancel our policy and kept it going after renewal and now Geico is coming after us for the premium. They want a copy of the declaration page of our new policy, which I'm not willing to provide. They do not need my new policy information or know who we moved to. We asked them to term our coverage, why do we have to do work to correct their mistake.

I trusted Geico insurance with my auto's insurance policies. This was the WORST decision I've ever made in life. My vehicle was stolen in Dec. of 2019, and I was offered compensation for my stolen vehicle, and Geico requested that I transfer my vehicle title to them before sending the payment. After I transferred the title, they claimed their investigation was pending. They continued to claim their investigation was pending until they finally LIED and claimed I sold the thief my vehicle. I had never met, heard of, nor spoken with the thief of my vehicle prior to finding out the lie that was told on me.

As I was traveling back into the U.S.A., I was arrested for the false accusation, and granted bail. I immediately made bail, as the lies that Geico, and the thief told were shown to me. I IMMEDIATELY provided proof of the false accusations, as my airline company showed proof that I was not located in the state the thief claimed I sold him the stolen vehicle in. I also showed other forms of proof of GEICO's FALSE ACCUSATION / DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER placed on me. Even though I was arrested and posted bail, THE SAME warrant is still out for my arrest.

I've sent went to the courthouse, and was not threatened to be arrested. This is the shortened version of the RACIAL HATE, DISCRIMINATION, and FALSE ACCUSATIONS from GEICO. Yes I am colored man who has NEVER been to prison. I am a known business owner, and community philanthropist who has NEVER done anything as stupid as Geico claimed I did. Geico adjuster Ryan ** and claim department upper managers are reckless liability. Specifically, adjuster Ryan ** demonstrated wasting insured time is amusing with childless games of falsely mailing check, direct deposit and none received. It’s one thing to be a habitual liar while being unprofessional who cares nothing for his job. But, bringing Geico reputation negative press into the public view is a no brainer, Ryan is a huge liability to any corporation with a national presence.

Facts, mint condition 2005 Porsche was water damaged due to December 2022 historic flooding in SF auto body shop. Insurer provided an estimate and with some back and forth, finally a check was mailed and deposited. Bounced, insufficient funds and requested another check. Then poor little Ryan starts fabricating stories it was mailed again, Oh… texted it was direct deposited. Oh, there was a mistake. First, never received any text as communications were emails and no bank account number were provided. All lies, yet his manager most likely are aware of adjuster professionalism since claim was opened in Dec 2022. News flash it’s June 2023, with six months unsettled claim.

In short, poor little Ryan had a meltdown tantrum, reverts to childhood habit of lying with petty games. Rouge Ryan loves wasting Geico’s money and insured time as of no consequence is shameful to both his manager and claim department. For, I am sure there are countless of Geico adjusters that takes their profession seriously.

Claim department management needs address and care, for negative reviews are loss of potential hundreds of new insured drivers in our days of information at fingertip. IMO, Geico needs to give little Ryan ** a diaper change time out with retraining, or terminate any employees who recklessly damages Geico reputation in furtherance of their personal agenda in opposite of millions in ads campaigns. I was able to find a repair shop on my own. As per repair shop manager there is no progress because Geico is delaying a paper work to get started. My car is sitting in the auto shop for 25 days just to get right paper work to be processed by Geico.

Original review: Geico auto could be good if you are looking to save money because your state would not allow to drive a car with no insurance. Your troubles will kick off once you got an incident. I was happy for 12 years just to pay my premiums going up every 6 month. 5/30/23 got a no-fault collision, police report, towing, and on 6/1/23 auto damage adjuster arrived and gave me the estimate for repairs. I asked if I can have my car repaired at any Geico Xpress location proudly advertising by Geico. The answer was: I have to wait 2 months just for appointment at so called Xpress(?) shops and I have to to shop around to fix my car. At the time of writing this review some auto shops refuse to work with Geico. I will update my story but as of 6/1/23 two stars because there is no Xpress (Fast?).

This was entirely our responsibility. However, two weeks later, we were alarmed to receive a letter—our first correspondence from Geico—informing us that our policy had been canceled two days prior. Unknowingly, we had been driving without insurance for those two days.

Despite this being our first late payment after years of consistent and timely payments, Geico not only neglected to provide adequate notification but also proceeded to increase our rates by 25% if we chose to renew. It is disheartening to discover that our longstanding loyalty to the company appears to carry no weight, as we are being treated as if we have a pattern of delinquency. Before posting this, I sent this tale of woe to GEICO corporate HQs in Maryland. My story began when my wife was rear-ended by another driver, who was also insured by GEICO. The other driver admitted being distracted when they hit our car traveling 45-50 MPH. GEICO moved our claim to that of the other driver. Trying to find an adjustor was an experience. We called the closest GEICO in Renton, Washington. The first adjustor number given had the claim transferred and the number we were given was in Florida, which forwarded our call to another office in California. They suggested a couple of body shops for appraisal of the damage. Both were hours away and would not be able to do the work for several weeks. That was an unsatisfactory action for us. We were told to find a local shop, which we did and they were excellent.

We had an adjustor call us from Spokane, Washington, which is a seven-hour drive from us. He requested pictures of the damaged car on all four side as well as the VIN number and mileage be emailed to him for his appraisal. We did this and when he emailed us his appraisal, we forwarded it on to the local body shop. GEICO wanted everything done the cheapest way. When the work was completed, GEICO refused to pay the full amount needed to repair our car, so that we had to pay nearly $600 to make up the difference.

Now the fun began. There had been three adjusters that approved different versions of the work necessary. Jeffrey was the first estimate from the pictures, supplement S01 was done by Steven and the final supplement S02 was done by Sean. Called Jeff and he could not do anything more than the initial estimate. He gave us Sean’s telephone number. At this time there was a $1500 difference between the cost of repairs and what GEICO was willing to pay. Tried to contact Sean and left him voice mails. I wanted to find out what part of the bill that they would not cover. At this time the body shop notified us that GEICO had paid an additional $900 toward the cost. Not receiving a return call from Sean after trying several times, I was now past the point of being just unhappy. I call the local GEICO office and asked to speak to the supervisor. I was given the name of Otto who I called on three consecutive days and got no response.

Two days after my last call to GEICO, I received a call from Mark. He said he was also a supervisor and was asked by Otto to check on my concerns. He happens to be in Kentucky and has no knowledge of what had transpired. I briefed him and since it was a Friday, March 24th, he said he would call back on Monday. He did call and said that GEICO would not pay the full amount of the bill because the body shop used some Subaru parts rather than “after-market parts.” The difference in the after-market parts and Subaru parts was about $80. Labor and the outsourcing of the wheel alignment, vehicle diagnostic scans, painting made up the rest.

We are happy with the final product, just thought that GEICO should have been responsible for the entire cost. It was not our fault, and the repairs were not outrageous. The other car was totaled, but no injuries. Entire accident caught on video of semi facing the accident. We are changing our insurance provider after this.

I have Geico auto insurance for my Range Rover. I hit a deer and damaged my bumper, and radiator, Geico told me I was fully covered, and only had to pay my $500.00. I received a call from the body shop saying Geico would not pay their labor rate, nor pay for new parts. Geico will pay for used parts to be put on a Range Rover??!! I owe the $500.00 deductible, plus $1100.00 for the repair. Geico told me I would be fully covered up until the pick up date for my vehicle, then the adjuster denied the $1100.00 charge from the repair shop for using new parts. I do not suggest insuring expensive cars through Geico because they will not pay the cost of the new parts.

Honestly, I accept some of blame for what I discovered today. I retired in Jan 2022 and was fortunate enough to have enough in savings to pay off our home mortgage among other debt. I really didn't pay much attention to what I was paying in homeowners insurance because it was all rolled into our monthly mortgage payment and my wife manages our family finances. However, once our home was paid off I saw the insurance bill for $4,896.00 per year.

I didn't realize that our homeowners insurance was that high. I called GEICO and was told that due to the high cost of labor and materials, that the replacement for our home justified that rate. I decided to call around other insurance companies and was able to get a quote of $1,280.52 from a very well known and reputable company for the same or better coverage that I was getting from GEICO. You can imagine my frustration when I after 35 years of loyalty to GEICO was paying $3615.52 more per year than what a competitor offered me. I don't understand how a company can charge that much of a difference for the same coverage.

Moreover, for the last 35 years, I have been paying GEICO for all of my vehicles and homeowners insurance and they repay my loyalty with a significantly higher premium and wouldn't even consider a reduction. They claimed that I because of my loyalty, I was getting an excellent rate. Needless to say they have lost a loyal customer and I will share my experience with all my family and friends.

I used GEICO insurance company for several years, I got into a car accident when another driver (who is also insured by Geico) ran a red light and T boned me, there was police present and it was construction zone, to make the long story short, Geico contacted me on Aug 18 2021 over 2 months later and said they will pay for my car and rental car as well, I rented a car from a small company, they denied paying for it, and said Enterprise give them a deal on rental, I asked them, "Why you didn't do that from day one," they said nothing.

I had bills for over $10,000 rental cars, they offered me $1400 and said, "Take it or leave it, this is all you get," I asked them if I can claim the balance from the person who hit me, they said no. I am out all kind of money because of geico stand and not honoring my loss. I finally went to another company to get insurance through, and the other company is a well known company, and they offered me a better insurance and saved me at least $2000 annually.

Geico's insurance agents are basically taught to toe the line of fraudulence to save the company money. I was stopped at a stop sign, and a car driving past either decided or remembered to turn last minute, cut it way too sharp and fast and hit me. I was literally at a stop, the other driver was clearly at fault. The police report said they were, I got the name and number of a witness and (very rough) footage from their door cam. Then the sketchy Geico agent says that police reports are "subjective" and not taken into consideration, they couldn't get ahold of the witness (even though I did anytime I tried even from a different number), and that there were three people in the other car saying I was at fault and only my word against theirs. They ruled that I was 100% at fault. Total bull crap. Thank goodness my insurance is now fighting them in court, but I am just astounded that they even attempted to pull that kind of crap.

Now this whole case is going to be held up in court for who knows how long. Not only are they fudging facts to benefit themselves, when they get called out on it by another company they waste thousands of dollars in legal fees for both sides, such a waste, it's likely costing more than the actual damage. Unbelievable business practice.

The claim department, specifically the salvage unit at Geico is completely and fully inept and incredibly unhelpful. They are useless in advancing your claim or providing knowledgeable and beneficial information. I disagreed with the settlement offer regarding a total loss of my vehicle that occurred April 20, 2022. So I was assigned an adjuster who after only 3 weeks proved himself useless and missing. My calls went unanswered and my emails ignored. I upgraded to a supervisor to assist me. I had to hire an appraiser who conferred with their appraiser to try and agree on an amount. They failed. The supervisor informed me the next step was to have a mediator come to a decision. For 2 months I waited for an outcome only after repeated calls did I discover I was to hire the mediator.

For 2 months my file sat unworked upon on someone’s desk. Then I found the supervisor's superior and in 6 weeks he got me a fair settlement amount. But then I received a text for my banking info so the money could be wired into my account. But after correctly entering my info including banking account and routing numbers I received an error message that said a check would be mailed. I did not want this. So I called at 5am and was told a supervisor would call me back as the representative I first spoke with could not help me or provide me was a satisfactory answer. I never received a call. So I called again 2 hours later and again the agent was unhelpful. She gave me a month old address as my current address.

I called Geico when I changed my address and according to the app it was updated. But somehow the salvage unit still had my old address. That’s why I couldn’t enter my info on their website for the transfer. Then when I got loud and displayed my displeasure I was placed on hold for a long time. I hung up. I called back for the 3rd time and again spoke to an inept and moronic agent so again I spoke to a supervisor who had the nerve to suggest my info was rejected due to my bank not accepting the transfer as it was so much money. I said they are wrong but I’ll my bank to check. And of course the bank would accept any amount wired to them. That was classic blame the other company and try to make yourself look innocent. They failed.

So I called back for the 4th time and a supervisor informed his assistant would monitor for the check to be created so they would stop it and reissue it. They failed at this and around 6pm I called for the 5th time. I spoke to a decently competent person who informed me a check was sent. She got supervisor approval to cancel said check. But as I learned later she only did half the job. Knowing all I wanted was a new text to enter my banking info she failed to get approval for a new check. Another nitwit. So around 7pm I again called making this the 6th time I called today and was told I would have to wait for a new check to be generated before I received a text to re-enter my banking info.

This was unacceptable as I have been since April 20th to get the money owed to me. So again I requested a supervisor who informed me he would find a manager to approve the new check. He asked to call me back and he did. But he failed to find a manager to help me. So after 6 calls and speaking to numerous people and wasting hours of my day I did not get the conclusion I desired. Which was a new text to enter my banking info so I could get the transfer done sooner. Everyday was hurting me as I was renting cars the entire 8 months I’ve been waiting.

The entire staff at Geico is unhelpful useless and even idiotic in the answers they give. I have never dealt with so many unknowing and moronic people as I did here. I must have placed 100 calls to them. And many messages and emails went unanswered. I despise them. I will not renew with them and will find a new auto insurance company. I would advise you to look elsewhere. The gecko might be cute but he’s backed up by idiots. Avoid at all costs

Just left Geico tonight to go to Progressive. I always paid my bill on time with Geico and when it came time for roadside assistance I was unpleasantly surprised that they decided that they would tell me to find my own towing company, pay the towing company out of my pocket, and then send the receipt to them so that they could reimburse me in 7-10 business days. Problem being that car insurance is like life insurance.

People pay car insurance so that when they need it they don’t have to come out of pocket for things like roadside assistance the week of Christmas. Thank God I had the money but feel the responsibility to cancel on behalf of those who don’t. This would be the equivalent of a life insurance policy telling a family to collect the money for a loved one after paying into the company for years for just such an event.

Also, the customer service representatives were rude and quite matter of fact when it came to telling me this information. They offered no solutions and thought that I was not really going to cancel the second I had the time to. When I called back with my cancellation request this is when they wanted to see what they could do. Sidenote the service was subpar at best and I am now paying a lot less. Also if this is how they handle roadside assistance I would really not want to be around to find out what they would do in the case of an actual accident. Peace out!

Geico is raising my rates 19% for December 2022-June 2023. No actual reason. No tickets. No accidents. No repairs. No new drivers. No changes in vehicles. No changes in coverage levels. Etc. The cover letter included says:

"We work hard to make things as easy as possible, so we've included your policy renewal summary on the back of this page. As you review it, you may see that your premium is increasing. There are many factors that affect your insurance premium such as age, driving history, location and the increasing cost of vehicle repairs. When one (or more) of these factors change, it may impact your policy premium. We know that this has a real impact on you, our customer. Please be assured that we are working hard to control all costs and to keep the impact on your premium as low as possible." Blah blah blah.

This increase is way higher than inflation, which actually decreased almost 2% between June and now. Reasons I see cited in news articles for why the insurance companies are requesting rate increases include that there are more miles driven and increased personal injury lawsuit payouts, but when you look at the actual statistics these seem to be cases of numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels as more people returned to the office, vacations, etc this year. And increased costs of cars and car parts, which would due to inflation.

But my rate increased also increased when I renewed in June, too by like 40%. Again, no changes made to anything. Year over year it is about a 71% increase between December 2021 and December 2022. (I did make changes to my coverage prior to December 2021, which is why I can't go back and compare further than that.) I feel as though they should have to provide an actual explanation for rate increases, item by item, actually customized to each customer's actual bill, not "this could have increased because of..." Whatever algorithm they use has a reason for doing what it does. They can pull that data and print that reason. But I can't imagine a good reason for increases this steep. It just doesn't make sense. It looks like I am going to be searching for new car insurance.

I didn't realize my rates were going to go up until I got the text message about my bill and it was significantly higher than the previous one. They did email that I had new policy documents available, though, so that's on me. It was an unpleasant message to get that my bill is going to be significantly higher than I thought it would be, this close to Christmas. Maybe it's not on Geico and this is just the way the industry is going all over. But I haven't seen huge outcry so I doubt everyone's rates have increased this much. It's just an excessive amount, especially looking year over year.

I wouldn't advise bothering with GEICO's online quote service. They access your current insurance payment info, and offer a rate just enough below that to entice you to continue the quote. So, you enter all your personal info, drivers license #, date of birth, bank account number, etc. All the while, they are hanging that lower rate in front of you, through the entire process. They have everything they need to calculate the honest actual rate, but don't disclose it until after you click to pay, then, oopsie, it's actually 300% what we said. Well, that's 250% more than what I currently pay, so maybe I'll use online their online chat to clear things up.

Don't waste your time because they stand by their bait and switch tactics 100%, justifying it with their, "I understand your frustrations," and "Sorry you feel that ways." In the clear light of day, they are exploiting the most vulnerable, who need insurance by law, and may be desperate not to lose their jobs, or miss visiting their children because they cannot drive without insurance. Thankfully, I have other options, and am not that desperate, but in my 30+ years of driving, most with Geico, thousands of dollars have I paid, and zero claims have I made.

To me, auto insurance has been like paying tributes to the Mongol Horde Invaders: one must pay in return for not being destroyed. My experience with Geico was bad. I pay tribute to some other Khan, Progressive, and advise you to avoid Geico's online quote service. I look forward to the day when our government decides to end this insurance racket, because the tired freaking commercials - they just aren't that funny.

I had a very frustrating experience with Geico, and I want others to be aware of how I was treated, so you can be warned before hiring them. I now know Geico spends most of their money on targeted advertising, rather than paying claims to deserving clients. I was insured by Geico from July 2017 to July 2018. Unbeknownst to me, Geico cancelled my policy due to a single speeding ticket from October that eventually resulted in a short-term suspension of my driver’s license. Geico knew about this for months yet continued to take my monthly premium. Geico says that they notified me by sending a non-USPS certified (guaranteed receipt) letter to my former apartment. I never received notice via an email or a call to my cell phone.

In July 2018, I was held at gunpoint at a gas station. The criminals stole my car and wallet from me. It was an incredibly traumatic incident. I had been a loyal Geico customer, one that had never missed a premium payment. When I called Geico to report the claim, it was then that I learned that Geico had canceled my policy EFFECTIVE TWELVE HOURS EARLIER.

I want others to know how Geico refused to honor my claim due to this technicality and fine print in a Tennessee state statute. Geico wants the world (especially young people who need to save money) to hire them, hence all of their millions on advertising, but they do not want you to submit a claim. If they can find a way to get out of paying you, they will. They spent thousands and thousands on legal fees fighting against me for 4 years versus doing the right thing and paying my auto theft claim. Please consider this before choosing Geico. Very disappointing.

That's ~20% rate hike with no change to record... Tweaked policy and got renewal down to $491.87, OK. 10/04 (due date) arrived. Acting in good faith, I contacted agent directly to submit payment and enroll new ACH in auto-pay (since my old bank in KS was still listed). GEICO had submitted an auto-pay for the old bank at like 4 AM, for which they were obviously denied payment (account didn't exist, no NSF or overdraft occurs here - just denial). My fault of course for failing to update the old bank detail. Honest mistake. Timely payment submitted.

10/14, get hit with $20 service fee and email says my new ACH linked bank was denied, thus removed from auto-pay settings as well. Contact agent directly via phone to attempt to have fee waived. We're all human, I was very reasonable in agent engagement. I acted in good faith and expected the same from GEICO since in this case no overdraft occurred with any institution as a result of the auto-pay failure... First rep couldn't help waive fee. She passed me off to a superior whom continued to deny waiver of fee.

I explained they could have my $20 service fee today and no revenue again in the future as a customer after the current policy expires or they could waive the fee and maintain future revenue. They picked the $20... This company doesn't even care about retention in current economic climate and rate hikes are predatory. Find another provider people, not worth it.

I was in my first car accident ever, which is a blessing in itself but also means I was naïve and didn't know what to expect. The State Trooper at the accident said she "ran out of forms" and so she just gave me the incident report number which she scribbled on a blank piece of paper. She assured me that was all I needed. I notified Geico (using their online form) and gave them all the information I had (name of other driver, their insurance info, and of course, incident report number).

This happened on a Saturday. On Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday ... I called them every day to ask what was happening with my claim, because my car was still sitting at the towing company's scrap yard and I never heard anything from geico except for the automated text that says "we have received your claim." Each day, the customer service reps kept telling me that the next step was for the insurance adjuster to schedule an inspection. This didn't happen until Friday. Nearly a whole week since the accident. But on Friday, the insurance adjuster didn't inspect the damage, all he did was move it from the towing yard to a garage.

Then, about five days later (Wednesday, ten days since the accident was reported) I receive an automated message that says I need to upload the official accident report. I've already told them I don't have one. I've spoken to two customer reps since that text and they both said it will take 4 - 6 weeks for them to get the report. I asked them if they really expected a person to have their car sitting in a garage for nearly two months until they sort out their required paperwork on their end and they pretty much said yep. Two whole months. Next time I'll know better and get a copy of the accident report at the scene because I'm sure things would have been smoother.

Even so, compare this with my brother in law, who got side swiped not long ago. His insurance company immediately -- first of all, asked if he was alright -- but also arranged the car rental such that all he had to do was go pick it up, took his car to a repair shop and then fixed it. It was no more than two weeks from accident to repairs. His insurance company took care of every detail immediately. Here I am nearly two weeks out from my accident being told I need to wait for another month or two.

On a side note, my mother who has Geico, got into a small fender bender not too long ago. Not only did she have to do all the footwork for repairs (find the garage to get estimates, which geico then rejected and she had to go to another garage for another estimate), she also had to pay for everything up front and wait for geico to reimburse her. If she didn't do that, she would have to wait until geico could make arrangements with the other person's car insurance company BEFORE they would even start the repair process at all.

So, if you have your official accident report in hand, have the time to do all the legwork regarding the repair of your car, getting estimates, etc, and are okay with paying for all repairs up front because you have the financial resources and the time to wait for geico to reimburse you, then Geico is your insurance company. Otherwise, I strongly suggest an insurance company that actually cares.

Geico is the worst insurance company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Let me compare Geico service to another insurance company to fully illustrate just how awful their service is. I switched from USAA to Geico 6 years ago when I got married. I had been with USAA for probably 15 years and had always been happy but getting married it made sense to put us both on the same policy. My premiums have always been paid on time and in my 32 years of driving I have only had 3 insurance claims, one of which is the reason for this review. I was driving home when out of nowhere a large deer jumped in front of my car that I had just purchased. I literally made the second payment on the car the day before the accident. I had the car towed back to town and began the nightmare of dealing with this insurance company. Even though I was the one in the accident they have never spoken with me, only my husband.

They have never even asked if I was injured. When we asked about a rental since I still need to be able to get to and from work was told we didn’t have that option on our policy. A week later we finally started getting communication saying that my car had depreciated in value $5,000 in two months, the tires were bad, and the car was “mostly clean”. This is a car didn’t have a scratch on it prior to the accident. This car looked like it did the day it left the dealership.

They sent us comps that not only were not even in the same part of the country, but the comps booked more than what they were offering us until they did some magical math to make every car worth less than what they dealerships were asking. So now it looks like after years of collecting premiums and safe driving when I need my insurance company to live up to our agreement and cover my car they are not going to. I will be out not only the $2,000 I out down but the $2,000 to license the car and still owe another $2,000 on the car loan.

Let’s compare the customer service from Geico with USAA. About 10 years I was involved in a hit and run accident with a drunk driver. USAA handled everything! Their first question was “Are you ok”? They arranged for my car to be dropped off at the repair shop of my choice and arranged for a rental car. All I had to do was sign for the rental car. They made what was a scary, terrible situation feel like I wasn’t alone, like we were part of a team and in this together rather than the Geico situation where I am having to fight for them to cover anything.

I have been a longtime Geico Customer. Lately their Service have been awful. I have had my insurance cancelled twice so far this year, even though I have had continuous autopay. It is so frustrating talking to the Customer Service Representatives. Everyone is polite on the telephone. However, they continuously submit wrong information. I have almost had my Virginia driver’s license suspended twice this year, because Geico mistakenly cancelled my insurance. If I did not check my mail my licenses would have been suspended for no insurance. They take out money out of my checking account automatically. I have called and asked for a credit for the months that reported no insurance even though they deducted the amount. I am so frustrated. I am going to cancel Geico and get a different insurance company.

I keep remembering when Geico was the superior insurance company, with funny commercials, and excellent customer service, and roadside service. However those days are gone. Like most larger companies now it is all about maximum income, nickel and dime the consumers, and treat customers like they are doing the customer a favor. I wish I could give them “0” star. For the time I have wasted going to DMV and correcting information on the telephone and online. I am so disappointed.

I told Geico but they blamed me for the accident and quadrupled my rates making it impossible for me to afford to drive. Subsequently they refused my medical claims because an orthopedic doctor, their examiner who only saw me for a few minutes stated I did not need care which was totally false.

I had a serious head injury, spinal injury and contused my chest very badly, slamming agains the steering wheel in a head on collision on the highway. It has been an uphill battle getting care and getting it covered. Don't think you are covered for medical just because you have medial coverage on your policy. The Geico doctors seem to be in the business to deem you not in need of care so Geico does not have to pay claims. It's a screwed up system that treats customers well when they have no claims but when it gets down to covering you when you are injured they don't want to pay.

Updated on 9/26/2022: RE: **. So far I have been told I didn't make the 63.54 payment - that is why my new policy canceled - Also that my policy canceled on the 28th. Also that my new policy was canceled for non-payment of the new amount that included the old balance due of the 63.54 that I HAD PAID and WILL PROVE IN YET ANOTHER WAY BELOW WITH GEICO'S OWN HISTORY!!! BUT you also told me there is a 15 day grace period that had NOT YET PASSED for me to have paid my new policy!!! Therefore, it should NOT have Been Cancelled for non-payment! Because my account had been caught up for the previous policy payment of 63.54 and the grace period for the new policy had not yet passed!

It shows IN MY BANK STATEMENT the payment I made on 8/9 of $63.54 (to cover the payment not made after a double payment was disputed on july 26th.) YOUR HISTORY SHOWS MY CARD WAS DECLINED 8/9 YET...my bank shows it cleared. YOUR HISTORY ALSO SHOWS MY POLICY WAS NOT CANCELED UNTIL 8/8 yet you're telling me it cancelled a different date... you've also told me it was due to not paying the old balance of 63.54 which I did otherwise would not have been able to dispute it AGAIN TODAY since you claim no payment was received! How about choose ONE story and stick with it! And it did indeed CLEAR because that is the I HAVE NOW DECLARED to 20 DIFFERENT GEICO EMPLOYEES A DOZEN DIFFERENT TIMES!

Original review: I have been with GEICO for years- I'm not on auto pay, so they inundate me with payment dues via text, email and paper mail- even though I'm digital only. 2 weeks ago they mailed my new policy cards to me, followed by a letter last week telling me that canceled my policy August 28 - 2+ weeks after my renewal OUT OF THE BLUE - cancelled! For a double payment that had gone through in JULY I disputed only ONE of the payments but geico clearly redacted one of the double payments after the fact so neither were paid- The day I found this out, I paid it again and have proof it cleared on august 9/10... I have sent them MULTIPLE screen shots of the one disputed for the double payment July 26th- and the cleared payment August 9th.

I still have no insurance and it is now September 22nd. I have emailed them a dozen times and spoken with a dozen people. All for them to tell me what I already know- a glitch happened between the companies but they are holding me accountable even though I paid it...again! I thought, I'll just pay it a 3rd time so I at least have my insurance and it will get worked out- only now GEICO will only accept a FULL ONE TIME PAYMENT of 900$ to reinstate me-- AFTER BEING WITH THEM FOR YEARS!!!! AND THIS BEING A TECHNICAL ERROR NOT OF MY DOING!

No adjuster was assigned to my claim and no one contacted me to process the claim. The claim representatives are extremely unprofessional and unknowledgeable of how to answer questions regarding an insurance claim. They sent me to a bad repair collision center which damaged my vehicle and the Geico claims department never took the time to contact me to investigate & inquire about the damages. They denied any damages after one month by leaving a general voice message by a novice adjuster that I had never been in contact with.

I have been a loyal customer of Geico Insurance Co since 2009 and I feel that in the last few years Geico company has done a total revamp of the company and it's a big disaster and a mess! The company does not acknowledge nor do they care about the customer who pays for auto insurance in order to receive protection when there is a collision or damages as a result of a MVA. Their staff stinks and they have no idea what insurance is if they feel they can boot "you out" and not explain anything to you!! They have no understanding of the law, and ethical standards for processing a claim!! I am horrified and appalled at how unruly, disrespectful and ugly their services are. Updated on 08/29/2022: Back on 8/25/22 I posted about my daughter getting in an accident with a Geico customer. So, I had to call AAA and get them involved because Geico gave the body shop $7,000 and told them to fix my daughter's car no matter what; don't listen to the customer. They wanted the body shop to weld sheet metal to my daughter's Audi.. The body shop called us and told us. We called back AAA and they sent their adjuster over and the car's frame was completely bent. AAA totalled the car out at $26,000. Geico is so scandalous and despicable. The little lizard looks so cute, sweet and not at all like the real serpent it is. AAA all the way!!!! Best insurance ever!!!!

Original Review: My daughter got into an accident with Geico customer. The kid was on his phone and in a big truck, he did not see my daughter pass in front of him so when he turned onto the street behind her, he rammed into the back of her and drove with her Audi in front of his car shoving her into a major road where she would have been t-boned. The kid said he thought it was his transmission.. There was a witness that watched the whole thing. Her Audi was taken to a Geico approved repair shop and the owner of the repair shop said Geico is ignoring the fact that her frame on her car is broken and trying to make him fix it regardless.

The owner said you need to get your car back to AAA. Geico is trying to trying to cover up a cracked frame and give your car back with 1/4 of another car; used parts from 2 separate cars. The repair shop guy said your car is not going to be the same, seems will not line up; your car will not be the same and the resale will be nothing. Geico is a scumbag insurance provider and the little lizard is really a snake. AAA is taking our car out of Geico's hands and getting it fixed and then billing Geico! Such a trash company and now you know. If you get into an accident with a Geico customer; make sure to call the cops and go through your own insurance.

That partner organization collected all the same information from me all over again that I had just input with the Geico interface then they said they needed to connect me to an agent who could help me. Fine. That agent went through the entire process again and then says, "We will connect you with seven different agencies today who will give you quotes within the next 48 hours." What??

Turns out Geico shuffled me off to an information aggregator called Commercial Insurance dot net. And those people collected all my info before informing me that they were going to have me spammed by a bunch of other insurers. Needless to say I told them that I refused permission to send my information to anyone and that they should have disclosed their procedure up front before collecting my information. I am a current resident in Homestead, FL. I have been with Geico for almost a year and never had an issue until today. I received my next bill to renew my insurance for $1,781.25. That is including my discounts and paying in full for that amount. I noticed that there was a huge increase from the last six months, which was $1334.76. I have attached what the increased amount has been every six months paid in full. When I noticed the amount increased, I contacted Geico because I thought it was a mistake and that would be the amount divided into six monthly payments with nothing included. When I spoke to the first agent, she told it was due to the inflation in the market and the rise of cost living, they needed to increase their prices for insurance.

I was appalled by what I was told and could not believed it jumped that much. I am a full time student, working part time and I knew I would not be able to stay with the insurance, so I started shopping around. From asking other insurance companies, my insurance was around to the original cost of insurance back in March. I decided to call Geico back, to see if I could get a breakdown of the increase of cost because on their website, you can ask to see why the increase. I can see the breakdown of coverage cost. When I told the Geico agent what the previous agent told me and how my insurance increased by $446.49 due to inflation, she said that was not entirely the correct answer.

Due to the area I live in Florida, Geico has to reassess the area and due to primarily car accidents and the lost of cars, the cost of insurance has affected everyone tremendously in the area and it happens to everyone. She said the main focus was the car accident that I have caused or been in and the medical cost as well. With the information she was sharing, she did mention my medical cost with an accident that I was in. That accident happened in a different vehicle, I was not even the driver, but my back did get injured and my attorney submitted my claim through my vehicle insurance (Geico) to help with the medical aspect. I was not at fault with the accident and I was not the driver. I was a passenger in the car and my vehicle is 100% accident-free.

I found the agent story to not correlate as to why my insurance increased. They say it is due to car accidents and medical expenses in Homestead but how does my medical coverage and expenses happened to be brought forward? The car accident actually happened in North Miami. I would understand a 10% increase in insurance cost but now it is about a 33% increase.

After I finally got thru to an agent, I said that I wanted to know why my rate went up $70 a month. After several minutes, she came back to me and said “you’ve done nothing wrong, it’s just that they have paid a lot more claims in Florida lately”. I said, "Think about what you just told me and ask yourself if that is right? So I am being penalized for all the poor drivers and the claims that your company has paid out and you're gonna raise my rates so that the executives can get their year end bonuses."

Insurance companies, in my opinion, have become a complete screwing over of the public. You pay premiums for protection and when you need them, they fight you tooth and nail of the very thing you pay premiums for. The same goes for any insurance you have, it’s ridiculous. They also notified my mortgage falsely stating that my mortgage had already been cancelled when in fact that was not true. When I confronted Geico's agent, she stated that the "back office would figure it out."

I contacted his insurance company, Geico, after calling multiple times and waiting for hours to speak with a person. Several calls were over a 3 hour wait time. 2 1/2 weeks later, my claim was closed because Geico couldn't contact the policy holder. I have been told they will not pay out unless the policy holder can confirm this took place. Almost 4 months later, I called for an update and was told this was closed the first part of January and no more action will be taken.

For over 10 years, my wife and I had our autos insured by Geico and had the unfortunate experience of having to file multiple claims for damages to my vehicle due to accidents - NONE of which were my fault. On two separate occasions, I was rear-ended by other drivers. Geico agreed that the other driver was at fault but the other driver claimed that I "cut them off" (but THEY were cited, not me) and, just like that, that was the end of it. No investigation at all. Geico paid for my damages -- between $4K and $5K for each occurrence (and, of course, MY premium increased..). After these instances where Geico just "rolled over", I installed dash cams in ALL of our vehicles, determined that this kind of ** wouldn't happen again and, about two weeks ago, I made changes to our policy (increasing Coverage Limits, reducing our deductible and adding Roadside Assistance and Rental).

A few days later, hit an animal on my way to work, damaging my front bumper. Once I got to work, I took plenty of photos and filed a claim on the Geico app, attaching the photos to the claim. A few hours later, I received a call from the Claims Dept. to advise me that, because I had recently made changes to the policy, they would need to INVESTIGATE the details of the incident. I advised that I had dashcam video so this should be a no-brainer. I obtained the phone number of the adjuster and called to get the process started. The adjuster requested specific photos, which I provided within minutes and, several hours later, the adjuster had emailed a repair estimate of $995. Surely, this would be handled without much of a fuss but, Geico proved me wrong again.

The next day, a Geico claims "investigator" called to take a recorded statement about the details of the incident and the circumstances of the coverage changes and, after completing the statement, was told that I would need to sign an "authorization form" to have an investigator "scan" my vehicle's data recorder and, if any falsification was detected, they would be "bound by law" to report to the state police for prosecution! REALLY!!?? I get rear-ended and Geico just "rolls over and plays dead" with no interest in proving that the other drivers were lying (and then paid thousands of dollars in damages to my car). I have a comp claim (that would have cost them $495. after my $500 deductible ) and they were treating me like a criminal!!! I've got a news flash for you Geico, you're not the only insurance company out there and, after 10 years, I got a better premium for better coverage so, the Geico gecko and the worthless Claims Dept. can Kiss My **!

I ended up paying the $357 to the other driver and then Geico raised my rates even though they paid nothing and both people told them there was no claim. During the whole process with Geico I was treated like I was lying and cheating and that was never true. Multiple Geico people contacted me about the same issue and they obviously don’t talk to one another. I called Geico to let them know and was told to take the vehicle to another shop to do a rework, took the vehicle to a shop in December was told it would take a couple of months to get it in due to the pandemic and parts/labor being on backorder, totally understandable. I was then contacted in mid-March to be told that the new collision center denied the rework because it was too much of a fuss.

Rep form Geico told me then to find a shop on my own that would take the rework, I am not a mechanic nor do I have time to spend my day taking the vehicle to get looked at to see if another shop would even consider accepting the rework. I believe Geico is passing blame and taking no responsibility in this, I am driving around with nonworking blinkers and headlights, windshield wipers not working. I'm aware that a few states have forced auto insurance companies like Geico to return some portion of the premium to account for reduced risk but the state I am in did not. Now, my premium has gone up substantially even though I'm still working remotely and my driving record has remained stellar. Now that is what has irked me. When my insurance agent went to look for alternatives in 2022, he found that there was a rental car reimbursement claim still open from 2017. It was closed immediately after my inquiry, but it shouldn't take my call (with an extra long wait time, of course) for GEICO to be monitoring their own claim files. Then a neighbor--also a GEICO policyholder--hit my mailbox and demolished it. It took GEICO two months to pay the $238 claim. Finally, to add insult to injury, despite my clearly providing these reasons for leaving, GEICO hit me with a short rate cancellation penalty when my insurance agent found a better alternative.

DO NOT PURCHASE COMMERCIAL INSURANCE FROM GEICO!!! Unless you want to deal with a tremendous headache. The representatives are not fully trained. We purchased our policy in September and have yet been able to drive our vehicle because they have not submitted proper documentation to the state of California. In order to apply for a motor carrier permit. The insurance company has to mail or fax the filing form MC-65. Every single time we call in we have had to pay out of pocket more and more. It is now the end of January and they still have not submitted the filing. I was told on the 10th they submitted then on the 21st they "corrected it".

I took it upon myself to call the state and the state said Geico never sent anything. They do not accept electronic filings. They are working through a 3rd party (geico doesn't even do the filings themselves) and now that I have the fax number WALTER the manager who is in charge of my case is no longer taking my calls and the 3rd party is stating I need a physical letter from the state asking the insurance that they want fax or mail or else they will not send it. This is completely ridiculous and unprofessional. We've already paid them thousands that we will not be getting back and was told that even if we cancel they can't cancel our policy right away. It will take a 4-12 weeks to cancel because they will have to contact each department and the state before we can cancel!!!! Don't waste your time and money with a company that does not have proper training. That lies at every phone call and ask for more money. And that does not let you cancel.

GEICO does not act in good faith and this raises serious questions about their lack of internal controls and business practices. It does not meet the expectation of paying for goods/services when they are not being provided in real time yet costs are incurred. On 1/2/2022 I purchased a new auto vehicle which Geico insured and issued insurance ID cards. On 1/14/2022 Geico sent me an email acknowledging Geico made an error and informed the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in New York State that my newly purchased vehicle was NOT insured which resulted in my driver’s license being placed at risk of suspension, DMV removing the registration from my vehicle and not allowing me to drive the vehicle. Geico continued to charge me for a service I could not utilize on a daily basis. Geico asked me to contact DMV on my own to resolve this matter.

Geico incurs no risk to these errors made on their end yet the consumer absorbs the risk of losing their driving privileges which results in possibly losing their employment, not meeting family/education/child care needs that rely on vehicle transportation and costs for goods/services not able to be accessed. This places undue stress onto the consumer.

On 1/18/2022 I finally spoke to a live person, Troy from the Geico Internet Management team from Virginia who denied that the 1/14/22 email was an admission on their part that Geico did anything wrong. He reported while their electronic submissions are not infallible, they can in no way be responsible for this error. When I inquired about how Geico knows their electronic submissions are sent successfully and accurately, he said Geico cannot attest to that and admitted Geico did not have a clue how this occurred or what happened but Geico is certain it was not Geico’s error at all despite the 1/14/2022 email reporting otherwise. This practice should be further investigated to ensure consumer protection occurs and ensure fraud, waste and abuse are not occurring by this for profit corporation.

Shortly thereafter, I received a form follow-up letter from GEICO stating that, for that reason, GEICO would not pay for damage repairs to my vehicle. A shocker to me. Does an insurance policy with these terms really represent meaningful protection? Thank God that it was a minor accident. I now do business with a carrier that has my back. BUYER BEWARE! In 2019 I purchased auto insurance with Geico with an agent over the phone and after three months my policy went from 140 a month to 300 (This has never happened with any other auto insurance company). No one called me about this price change, I found out when trying to pay my bill. I called the customer service line and was told after looking into my policy the underwriting department defaulted my rate to a Miami rate because that is what my license had on it (I moved to Orlando for school and had been there for a year). They told me if I submitted documents like my school registration or a bill it will go back to a reduced rate.

I submitted all the docs that were requested, I was later told all I needed was an affidavit which they claimed to have sent in the mail, but I never received it. Every time I submitted a doc, I would constantly call in and get a different agent who did not FULLY understand the issue and would give me misinformation. The agents tried to pressure me into just paying the $300 but I told them I did not have enough money. (I was a full-time student and worked part time). It took more than a month to assist me with this issue and then my insurance cancelled because I could not afford the new rate amount.

Fast forward now to NOV 23, 2021, I called to inquire about auto quote because I still receive promo emails, and they inform me to purchase a policy I had to pay $200 due to the issue they cause in 2019. I spoke with Stacy ** who works in the underwriting department in Orlando, she informed me if I submitted my affidavit, and even though I do not stay at the same place but because I still live in Orlando, I would not have to pay the $200 and can continue with a new policy. She told me she would send out the doc via email (misinformation). When I did not receive it after an hour I called back and was told nothing had been sent out then the agent told me he would send the doc in postal mail due to the sensitive information.

I had never received the document in the mail and called customer service to get an update about if the affidavit and if it had been sent out. The agent said that it had already been received and processed (misinformation), after hearing the confusion in my voice he doubled back and contacted some above him. (I was on hold for 7-10 mins). When he finally clicks back over, he had informed that the document had been sent out, but I would have to pay the $200. I inform him that Ms. ** had given me different information, I became upset and asked to speak to a manager. After being transferred I spoke to Michelle (**) who is a "supervisor”, and she honestly had a nasty and unprofessional attitude.

She told me auto rate had changed due to fraud (misinformation) and that the underwriting department denied it and it was nothing she could do. I told her what I was told. That the affidavit was need (she could careless and yelled at me). After telling her what issues I had went through with this company she seemed disinterested as if she only intended to do her job and nothing more which only made me more upset because I was not being heard. Overall, this company does not care about its customers but only about money and it shows. They do not write good notes to relay information in the system that is why it is so much misinformation and confusing happening. I am VERY disappointed in this company and do not recommend.

If I could, I would give a negative 20 stars. If you file a claim against one of their drivers, they would act so phony, refuse to pay no matter if their client caused the accident, and it doesn't matter if their driver got ticketed by police for the cause of the accident, they will still back up their driver. Even if they had stolen tags, left the scene of the accident and refused to provide their info they will back them up. And it doesn't matter how much proof you have that their driver is at fault, they will still back up their driver and find any lame excuse to not pay.

I could have had the accident recorded and they would have still found any excuse to not pay. They stand behind their driver when they break the laws driving and is obviously saying it's ok what they did. I had all the proof to show otherwise. And it's a crock because on their website it states they "may decide to request a copy of the police report..if they feel it's needed" so I am sure that's how they get out of paying. Because even though I sent in a copy of police report SHOWING their driver was found at fault and got ticketed, when I go check on status on my claim.. under police report it states there isn't one. I have emailed and took screen shots of police report and sent it in and they still show nothing of acknowledging it. They are stating it's ok that he turned in front of me even though he DID NOT have the right of way; he came into my lane next to me then tried to pull out in front of me.

I even have the statutes that their driver violated. Geico doesn't care. So I guess this insurance is for people who drive with stolen tags and break the law because they will defend those drivers and say it's ok. They refused to talk with my daughter (she was in car when it happened) because she is related to me. They said they won't accept anything from any witnesses that are family members. I told them she wasn't a witness to the accident; she was a part of the accident, she was involved and yet they wouldn't take her statement. I'm guessing because it would back me up and they can't have that or they would have to pay. So they would rather back up their driver who broke the law in countless ways.

On the date of an accident in Aug 2021 Geico denied I had car rental and collision on my policy and left me while in an accident and out of town to get a job in columbus without a car on the side of the street in Columbus ohio. my previous insurance on a Honda with them included Collision and there was absolutely no reason they have the right to unilatterally remove collision on my vehicle and claim not to cover my accident dated August 2021.
