Currently as of Oct 1, 2025 attempting to work with Geico on a claim from a insurer that crashed into my car. They have misguided, misrepresented good intentions on getting my auto repaired and taken care of the property that was damaged as well. I would NEVER EVER recommend Geico to anyone. Complaint: On September 26, 2025, a GEICO representative quoted me $2,048.78 for my auto insurance renewal with $500,000/$500,000 liability limits, plus a $60 driving class discount once all drivers completed the course. This is the quote I expect GEICO to honor. Instead: GEICO has refused to honor that quote, leaving my policy at lower liability limits. My premium has been raised 26% over the last six months, without explanation, even though no such increase was approved in New Jersey. Calls and emails to GEICO’s executives, including CEO Todd Combs, have gone unanswered (last unanswered email: 10/1/25).
When I called again on October 1, 2025, I was told underwriting “rejected” restoring my prior liability limits — limits I previously carried with GEICO. There was no reasonable basis for denial. Incorrect limits now inflate my umbrella coverage, adding further costs. I have documented all calls and emails. I also asked GEICO to review the September 26 call recording to confirm the quoted rate. Despite being directed by GEICO’s social media team to “chat online” for help, and speaking with a polite representative who acknowledged my issue, no one ever followed up.
My Demands: Honor the $2,048.78 renewal quote plus the $60 discount after course completion. Restore my $500,000/$500,000 bodily injury liability limits and correct my umbrella coverage. Provide a written explanation for the 26% premium increase in New Jersey. As both a long-term GEICO customer and a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder, I believe Warren Buffett would not be pleased to see GEICO treating policyholders this way. I have also notified the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance (DOBI) and have shared my story with local and national media already covering GEICO’s steep rate hikes. This situation demands immediate resolution before my policy renewal on October 20, 2025.

Geico is a TERRIBLE insurance carrier. I've been fighting with them for 6 months to get reimbursed for out of pocket expenses due to their customer causing an accident. I had to file the same paperwork twice and basically harass the adjuster assigned to my case because they didn't answer emails or return my calls. I still have not received the full reimbursement.

One of the worst experiences....ever. Changed to Geico to save money. Everything seemed okay at first, but when I called them a few weeks before my son turned 16... FOR A QUOTE...they added him to my policy against my wishes! All that I wanted was a quote. Then they refused to remove him! This caused my premium to SKYROCKET. So of course I jumped ship just as soon as I found a suitable replacement.
Well, I called to cancel my policies (auto and motorcycle) and thought that I was finished with this God-awful company. Oh no, a few months later, I start getting calls from a COLLECTION AGENCY over a $10 balance. My credit score is in the 830's, and I have always paid my bills. I have never been late on a single bill...ever. Geico sent me to collections over a $10 bill because they didn't cancel the motorcycle policy when I called and told them to cancel it. Beware when dealing with this company.

They are running a scam. I have had Geico since 2016 when my children were teenagers and their cost was the lowest. Back in June,2025, I tried to remove drivers online. I noticed a couple of weeks later, they were not removed. When I tried again, I received a message that my account was locked and could not be accessed. I made multiple lengthy calls only to be told every time that their IT department was working on it. I was patient and waited 3 months, all the while my bank account was being debited each month. The rep from Geico said she couldn't even cancel my account. Finally, I had my bank stop payment. Of course, I got multiple emails threatening to cancel my account because my payment was declined. Somehow, they were still able to get in my account to do that! Good riddance!

We have been with them for eleven years. Our monthly premium was $190.00 a month, and we have pretty clean records. Our rates kept climbing to $220.00 then it was $265.00 two months ago. They just raised our monthly premium to $385.00 two months ago! Tonight at midnight they are fired. We are with Shelter Insurance now with more coverage, for $245.00 a month. That is like a $1,680.00 dollar savings a year! Our property tax is only $1,400.00 a year here in Missouri, that covers that and then some. See ya never Geico, I have no idea what happened to them. I have a lot of family members with Geico, I will be contacting about this situation.

Said she called the shop and they said it couldn’t be related. So I message the shop owner with the screen shot and he said she didn’t listen to a thing. So I’m forced to now get a lawyer. I dropped them as my insurance company. They say they care about safety. If they did they would’ve listened to the mechanic. As you can see in the screen shots that Geico doesn’t care and wants me to get a lawyer.

I purchased GEICO when I had to travel out of state for a job. The price was affordable. I had a 13 year old low mileage Hyundai Sonata. Everything was fine until another vehicle hit me. GEICO has a no-fault collision coverage. Apparently the offending driver knew about this and they filed a claim under my policy and received about $13,000 without notifying me. Since the other driver was at fault, I was expecting their insurance to pay. I was just ignored. When I agreed to file the claim with GEICO I was forced to buy a new car. GEICO told me my car is a total loss when it could be fix for $3K. GEICO defames their customers so my insurance rate was sky high.
My current insurance provider recommended me to get my LexisNexis report. GEICO defamed me 3 times when the fault was the other driver. The other driver managed to get the traffic Prosecutor to defame me too in my LexisNexis report..My car insurance rate increased from $360/6 mo to about $300/mo. My insurance carrier was telling me I was at fault when the other driver caused the accident. BEWARE. Even if you are not at fault, they will pay the other driver and defame you at LexisNexis. So your insurance rate would go up 500 times.

If you want headache, frustrations, incompetent, long wait on a call, repetitive request, claim hassle, etc, etc then go with Geico auto insurance. I never had such incompetent auto insurance company over 4 decades of driving. The left hand do not communicate with the right hand and seems the medulla oblongata is not operational in Geico. The process is repetitive and waste of your time, you have to follow up yourselves to acquire the info you need, etc, etc.
When comes to claim (not at fault), have to repeat yourself 6-10 times to explain to 6-10 different people to what happen and send pics of the accident approx the same amount of time you explained yourself. When comes to claim against another Geico insurer, I noticed delay tactic and my perception of not willing pay out for repair, etc. that's when I have to call for updates on the claim to have the process moving. Sometimes cheaper auto insurance is to your best interests, instead of saving money you might ends with heart attack due to the hassle and frustration in Geico process. I'm speaking from experience with Geico claim (1st claim) not my fault scenario.

A driver with Geico insurance ran a stop sign and t-boned the passenger side of our 2003 Lexus RX300. The highest estimate to fix the damage was almost 7k, and the lowest was just under 4k. We would've been satisfied with getting the work done, even if subpar (considering the price difference we assume it may have been), at the place that offered the lowest estimate, but the most Geico would pay was $2300, leaving us $1700 short of making things right! Thank goodness no one was injured in the accident because I'm certain it would have been a struggle that would've required a lawyer.
It is beyond me that someone (us) can be riding down the road in our one owner car, that we have cared for very well in both maintenance and aesthetics, be hit by another car with Geico insurance, and never be made whole because THEY decide that the value of your car is not worth the price to fix it, although there are NO cars (our make, model, year) that come anywhere close to ours in value that can be purchased for less than 4k!!! How can this be legal with all the cars driving on the road paying so much $$$$ in car insurance!?! I just know that had I carried it to small claims court we would have been compensated at least to have it fixed at the shop offering the lowest estimate, but my husband said no because he didn't want to deal with the additional stress. If the car were in my name guaranteed I would have. Additionally, the Geico estimator & agents were rude and callous. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

I would give zero stars if I could. I have been a GEICO customer for 7 years. I have used roadside assistance twice. The first time the service was awful, but I chalked it up to a fluke. Yesterday the service was so awful that I will be switching to another carrier ASAP. At 11:00 am on Saturday, September 6, my car broke down. I pulled over and arranged for GEICO’s Roadside Assistance. I was given a 90 minute estimate. After 90 minutes I called and learned that GEICO cancelled my request due to an inability to get ahold of me. Absolutely no attempts were made by GEICO or the tow company to contact me. I called GEICO at 12:40 pm to request another tow. I was told the second truck would arrive by 1:27 pm. After multiple missed estimates and calls to the company, the truck arrived just after 3:00 pm.
Despite no claims, my rate goes up every single year by double digit percentages. I have never missed a payment. And somehow a single woman waiting on the side of the road is not emergency enough for GEICO or their partners. Do not pay GEICO. It is zero value for your dollar and if you are a loyal customer, they will leave you stranded on the side of the road for hours.

I let my policy lapse which was 100% my fault. I went online to pay to restart my account and received a random error message with no details except “please try again later”. I then tried the app and received a similar error. I called the customer support phone number and waited 2.5 hours before I had to hang up. I tried the website again and got much further, all the way to entering my debit card details. No matter how many times I entered the number, the website kept saying the field was empty. I tried the app again and just got the random error message again.
I called customer service again and waited just over an hour (3.5 total hours on hold now). I started a case with the virtual online assistant through the app. I eventually got a real person after 10 min wait. They informed me that in my state to restart insurance has to be done over the phone through customer support. None of the error messages I received on the website or app indicated this. I am now on hold again for 12 minutes so far to get to customer support. I am literally trying to give this company money and they are unreachable. Beware if you need customer support.

I was a Geico customer for over 20 years. 2 years ago, I was hit head on by another driver and sustained serious injuries. The other driver was the at-fault driver (ran a red light) which was reflected in the police report. The other driver was driving his friend's car and had no insurance, but the friend who owned the car (not involved in the accident) was also insured by Geico. The at-fault car owner's claims adjuster contacted me before my claims adjuster reached out, and he proceeded to treat me like garbage when I responded to his questions, even questioning my honesty when I misunderstood one of his questions due to the concussion I sustained.
I was the victim being treated like a criminal. My adjuster treated me with respect and, after uploading the police report, confirmed I was in no way being questioned as partially at fault as I had clearly not violated any road rules. It took a while to receive the check for my totaled vehicle, and they ultimately refunded my deductible they initially held. I spent two years receiving medical treatment (which I still need) for my injuries and, for many reasons (I won't bore you with all the details) including Geico's initial refusal to pay out, ended up hiring a lawyer. It took over two years for Geico to agree to a settlement, my policy skyrocketed, and my documents were being sent to someone else's address (not sure why this continued to happen).
I finally decided to cancel my policy. Now, they're billing me for a cancelled policy but refuse to send me an itemized bill showing why I owe them money when they got away with not settling for the full coverage I had on my policy or covering all of my medical bills. I lost out big time in the accident I didn't cause, and I was treated like garbage again when I called to request an itemized bill for the cancelled policy. I wish I hadn't been such a loyal customer for 20 years, especially now that I pay quite a bit less for the same policy with a new company. I'm saving a ton of money now which I hope will make up for the loss in medical bills over the next year or two.

GEICO is by far the most dishonest and unhelpful insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. I had two separate incidents that they refused to cover, and their excuses were nothing short of lies. Most shockingly, they told me I was “not eligible” for coverage after a deer hit—which is exactly the type of accident comprehensive coverage is supposed to handle. Instead of standing by their customers, they find loopholes, twist their wording, and leave you paying out of pocket when you need them most.
I paid my premiums faithfully, believing I’d be protected, but GEICO has proven they don’t care about their customers. They advertise affordability and reliability, but when it comes to actually backing up their promises, they vanish behind fine print and misleading explanations. If you value peace of mind, transparency, and actual support when accidents happen, stay far away from GEICO. They’ll gladly take your money every month, but the moment you need them, you’ll find out just how little your policy actually covers.

I have been a GEICO customer since 2014, insuring up to three cars with them over the years. On August 23, 2025, my auto policy was canceled after only a two-day lapse in payment. When I called to reinstate my coverage, I was told I would need to pay $777 upfront due to “limited payment options.” At the same time, I had already made a payment of $88.54 on August 25, which I thought would go toward reinstatement. Instead, I was told this only covered a backdated balance for August 4–23.
I followed up in writing, and the response I received from a representative, Owen K., was disappointing. The message was impersonal and dismissive, thanking me for my “loyalty” while denying any good-faith refund. To be clear: I paid for insurance that was not active, and GEICO refused to consider even a basic accommodation for a customer of more than 10 years. This is not how a company that values loyalty should operate. Two days late should not erase a decade of payments and trust. GEICO’s policies may protect their bottom line, but they do not protect their customers. After this experience, I have moved my coverage to another provider at nearly half the cost. Geico is absolute garbage. I signed up for a policy with Geico on 5/27/25 because they were cheaper than my current provider upon renewal. Paid and set up autopay (as I have with every insurance provider). Got a notification in the app a month later, as I had downloaded it for the Drive Easy discount, that it had been "unable to record" my drives and upped my premium automatically. Confused, I reached out to their online chat and they confirmed it was an error on their end and that they fixed it, this was on 6/28/25. Assuming I was good, as the associate confirmed she just changed the policy and nothing else, I went on my way and didn't think about it.
Flash forward to now, I've had to have surgery recently, bought a house, etc in the last few weeks so life has been very hectic and I haven't paid close attention to anything but those two things for a few weeks. When I went to look at my bank statements this month, I noticed I hadn't been charged my premium from Geico. Thought that was weird, confirmed with my bank first and didnt receive any payment attempt notification so I reached out to someone on the online chat again through Geico.
Spoke with someone who stated they had sent an email as well as a letter on the day that I spoke to the original representative (6/28/25) that I was being canceled for non-payment. I received no such communication and now have been lapsed for a month on car insurance, which has never ever happened to me before. My assumption was that the original rep that helped fix my policy with the drive easy issue had accidentally done something to mess up my autopay.
The rep insisted I was the one to blame, and that there was nothing I could do. I asked to speak with someone else, so he got me to his supervisor. She stated that yes there was an issue on 6/28/25, so I asked if there was a way to back date or at the very least report to the driving institution in my state (Missouri) that it was an administrative issue and it was not of my choice to lapse on coverage. She denied this, stating there was no way and in fact they DID reach out to me even though no letter or phone call was received and I have electronic documentation of no email either. I insisted she send me the documentation from their end as I intended to take it up legally, to which she ended the chat without providing any documentation. If you hold a GEICO auto-insurance policy based on my experience, you need to be prepared to see your policy getting cancelled abruptly with little notice on flimsy grounds... see this completely false acquisition. "....We need additional information to reconsider renewing your policy... We would be happy to review a signed, dated and notarized letter listing all vehicles with their VINs stating they are not used for Turo or any other vehicle sharing platform." And this is after I sent them a signed 2 pager they emailed me to be filled. I have only 5 days for renewal and they have put be in a fix. They would beg for signing up for insurance and now have attitude that is preposterous. No wonder they are cheap!!! All I had done was several months back inquired about whether they insured scenarios like Turo. I never used Turo or any vehicle sharing platform. How ridiculous!!!

If I could rate my recent experience with Geico’s customer service any lower, I would. Trying to get assistance for a simple billing question has turned into a marathon of unanswered calls, dead-end numbers, and unhelpful conversations. I have dialed every single number listed on Geico’s website, each time hoping to finally connect with someone who can help. Instead, I was bounced around, left on hold, or redirected to voicemails that never returned my calls.
Desperate for answers, I turned to the chat function—only to be met with vague responses and promises that someone would follow up, which never happened. Not a single representative I spoke with took ownership of my issue or provided any concrete solutions. The level of indifference from every channel was astonishing. In an age where customer service should be seamless, Geico’s lack of accessibility and unhelpfulness is truly disappointing. If you value your time and sanity, prepare for frustration if you ever need help beyond their automated systems.

A couple of weeks ago I placed a call to customer service to discuss my bill. Prior to calling I attempted to postpone my payment online but was unable to do so. I called customer service and spoke with April. Let me start by saying I have called the customer service line a number of times throughout my many years (11) of being a customer and have never had a bad experience but I’ve never had an experience as great and thorough as I had with April. When I called my intent was to postpone my payment, when the call ended, not only was I able to postpone my payment, my monthly bill was SIGNIFICANTLY lowered. As April was researching the issue as to why I wasn’t able to postpone my payment online, she also checked to see if I could lower my $735 monthly payment. This has never been done before without me asking. I didn’t think I qualified for a lower payment. I was so grateful I literally broke down in tears on the phone.
I’d recently taken on more financial obligations and this lower payment is a blessing in such a big way. I informed her supervisor Ray of my appreciation for April’s kindness, professionalism and thoroughness. I had no idea that when I called in for customer service that April a rate specialist would answer the phone! What a blessing!

Geico Review – Misleading Practices. I received an email from Geico encouraging me to come back because their rates had changed. I went through the process, got a quote, and was shown a huge discount—$494 less than my current policy. But the moment I reached the payment page, everything changed. The discount disappeared, and the “savings” I was promised were gone. When I chatted with a Geico agent to find out why, I was stunned by the response. I was told that whether or not an accident is your fault, it still counts against you. Their exact words: “The way claims are evaluated is based on statistics. When you have absolutely no claims on your prior record you can qualify for very preferred rates. That is why the application asks about incidents regardless of fault.”
Let that sink in—you are punished simply for being involved in an accident, even if you did nothing wrong. This is how the system is designed, and worse, it’s perfectly legal in this country. The U.S. allows insurance companies to treat consumers as statistics, not people. They use “risk models” as an excuse to inflate premiums and erase promised savings, all while hiding behind fine print. This isn’t just a Geico issue—it’s an industry practice built on greed, and our country enables it by letting insurers get away with it. The American Dream is supposed to be about fairness and opportunity, but instead, consumers are left paying the price for a system stacked against them.

I immediately called and spoke to a rep that was ignorant as all hell, who proceeded to tell me that I'll have to wait till this check clears, and then they can start the process of giving my money back.
Why do you need to wait for this check to clear if you already got the money CLEARED off my debit card? And why does it take 30 seconds to process a payment but it takes up to TWO DAMN WEEKS to get the money back into my account that you had NO AUTHORIZATION to take? Reporting them to NJ Division of Banking and Insurance, FTC, AIG, and OAG. This was FRAUD. It was THEFT. They already had a cleared payment from me DAYS before they ran it again.

Individual refused to answer his phone and would not respond to any of their requests. As a result Geico refuses to pay the claim. So because he will not reply to their requests, he is not held responsible for it. Most of the blame belongs to Concord Police in North Carolina. Officer refused to write him a violation because he felt the driver was already having a bad day. I guess I'm going to drop my insurance and sign up with GEICO. If I could give them “zero” stars, I would. Please forgive my small rant but here goes. Backdrop: I have had Geico car insurance for 10 years with 3 different cars without any problems. Last year, they increased my premium without any notice. I was able to contact a live representative who explained (without any apologies) that all car insurers are increasing premiums because of (mainly) increased costs due to uninsured motorists. Okay, I guess I have to take it on the chin, so I stayed.
Now Here We Are: Recently, my autopay didn’t clear because my bank merged with another bank... blah blah... So 7 days after the payment failed, my policy was canceled. I received a letter via the mail about the cancellation. I called customer service, paid the overdue amount via robot and then attempted to restart my policy. I gave up on the phone (I was repeatedly told by a robot that they had no policy information connected to my phone number and birth date). So I went to the phone app. There, I was able to see that my new policy premiums were increased by over $1000.00/year. My new monthly auto pay was going to be over $80.00 higher per month! So I wanted some clarification….from a human being.
So back to attempting to connect by phone… The customer service number took me in a vicious circle to Nowhereville. After about an hour, I decided to just pay the premium just to get coverage and have some time to look at other options. Oh, and a million thanks to Geico for taking my payment for this new expensive policy within seconds ..no glitch there! I investigated online and found a huge difference in premiums for the same coverage with Progressive. I bundled and bought car and homeowners from Progressive. I’m covered. Now I’m trying to cancel my policy with Geico…. Yeah that’s a whole new nightmare! I’ve tried numerous times to cancel on the app, but every time, I eventually end up on the same screen….buffering… almost there….still buffering… But I am tenacious and I will put a hold on any future payments to Geico. Right now…it’s personal.

Today I was informed I’d have to make 3 now just this month. When I explained this hasn’t happened in the past, they said it’s new earlier this year which is false because I had to do this earlier in the year. The rep I spoke to then had zero issues and understood my predicament. They won’t enroll me in autopay again until I make 3 payments total this month. Absolutely ridiculous.

But when I called today, they say they will only pay a fraction of the amount and the rest would be out of pocket plus deductible that I would be responsible for. So, question- why am I paying for Insurance; having paid more than $15k- (forget the interest that would accrue if I invest that somewhere) in last 5 years and now they will cover $1038 for windshield replacement. The current representatives are unhelpful, offer no solutions, and just go in circles repeating the same thing over and over again without providing any viable options.
Calling GEICO has become a nightmare: you get transferred from one department to another, only to end up with a voicemail. No one takes responsibility, no one gives clear answers, and worst of all: they are charging me a premium for a vehicle that was declared a total loss and had its policy canceled. This is not just disrespectful—it’s consumer abuse. GEICO seems to have forgotten that the people who pay for their insurance are the reason the company exists in the first place. I was informed that the policy would be canceled and a refund check would be sent over to my mortgage company. Since the check was more than $10,000, it would go directly to the lender and not to me as per company policy. To date, the payment has NOT been received by my mortgage company. I have been calling about this missing payment since April 15th (check your records) and each time, I was told that the payment was sent out.
However, when I called in May, I was informed that due to a typo, the check was sent to an incorrect address. I was then informed that a new check would be sent out and should be received by my mortgage company in about 10 days. It is now July 14th, 2025 and to date the payment is yet to be received by my lender.
This chaos has caused my monthly mortgage payment to go from $2700/month to $4274.12. Now since I cannot afford to pay $4274.12, I had to borrow the additional funds from my elderly Mother who's only income is social security in order to avoid being homeless with my children. When I went to pick it up on July 7, both of my rear tires were dangerously deflated--one at 11 psi, the other at 19 psi--after sitting at the shop for over a week. These tires were in good condition before the accident and clearly should have been inspected and replaced.
Instead of taking this seriously, Bruce ** dismissed the issue, claiming "tire deflation is normal," and refused to authorize the replacement. He was rude, condescending, and completely uninterested in hearing any valid concerns. He even told me to just pick up the car, even though the tires were not safe for highway driving. I was also forced to pay my deductible and sign paperwork before I was allowed to inspect the car, which felt deceptive. I don't typically write consumer reviews. While navigating their website has always been clunky and aggravating, it's the customer service that finally sent me over the edge. To clarify, this is the 3rd time I've tried to get an answer to what was a very simple question. It's clear that this is a pattern, not an anomaly. I currently have auto, homeowners, and identity theft policies with them. I received a 'do not reply' email stating that my identity theft would be auto-renewing, but if I wanted to update my account, to go online or call to make changes. No account #, link, phone number, website or any other contact info was provided. I figured once I logged into my online profile, I'd find that account. Wrong. My auto and homeowner policies were there, but not identity theft. What ensued was a time-wasting, pointless search for that section, a phone number, anything to help me locate my account. I decided to use the chat function.
What followed was a lengthy, regurgitated script of uselessness. The only bit of info I gleaned from the rambling of the agent (and subsequently, the supervisor), was my identity theft account #. However, I was told they couldn't access my account to cancel it. They can access the number, but not the actual account. I was told to log into Geico.com and create an account. I pointed out the obvious, which was I am currently logged into Geico.com. I was told I would have to activate my identity theft account by going to the website, then after I created an account, I could connect it to my existing one. Huh? I asked what website they were talking about. I was told the identity theft one. Okay, awesome, where is that? It's Geico.com *Head desk* This repeated a few more times until finally, the supervisor gave me a link. Sheesh. Was that so hard? Except... the link took me back to the same place I was when I started.
I tried multiple ways to get to the identity theft section. Found the button way at the bottom (not the link CS provided). Clicked that. Only option was to either get a quote after filling out a long form, or to log in. I hit log in then activate account. I was told I already had an account. Put in the account # I'd been given. Didn't work. Long story short, I tried again and again, and even when I tried to re-activate my account, I never received the code, which said I would receive if my email was in their system. Clearly it is, since I get emails for identity protection from them, but whatever. I gave up. I'll try calling and waiting on hold for an hour (normal), and if that doesn't work, I'll just do a chargeback. If that doesn't work, there's my friendly, state-run insurance fraud division to go to.
All of this will take yet more time, but I've been backed into a corner. I have to wonder if this is their way of making money because it's too difficult to cancel. Regardless, I'm shopping for new car insurance. Been with them fifteen years, never needed to file a claim, but I shudder at the prospect of ever having to after this experience!

Tried user name/email/policy number so then requested forgot user name or reset password so after several attempts they blocked me temporarily for 2 hours before trying again. Next attempt was the 3rd number I tried, was connected to a live chat agent. Well after 10 mins, Ashely said, "Wait let me see if a claim been filed..."
Gave her my policy number and I told her she was wasting her time because that is why I was speaking to her was to file a claim. She disappeared and dropped the chat. Half an hour later my sister gets a text from Ashley stating that a claim had been filed, how she got my sisters number is beyond me. Also left a phone number and they would take the call and help me out. The number she left was 800 416 3006 so I call that number and was a pre-recorded, giving away a free Life Alert.

I was paying jut over $500 for a 6 month premium that after 6 months went up to over $700 and now another 6 months later (12 months total) the rate is now almost $950! And that is with the "drive easy" safe driver discount which brings me to my other biggest gripe about this coverage. The drive easy Geico app is the worst "drive safe" app I have used. It is frequently inaccurate. I live in Chicago and use public transportation A LOT but the app always thinks I am driving and marks my score down (because city bus driving). I have to go into the app EVERY DAY to update it to say I was not a driver.
Unfortunately, the app NEVER updates my score so my score reflects ALL of the times I am on a bus or a train and I am getting docked for that. It's so infuriating and Geico won't do anything about it. I feel like I am talking to a wall when I reach out as they basically don't respond. The app is supposed to be beneficial to good drivers and unfortunately it is the opposite and causing unnecessary stress but if I have the drive safe program removed my insurance will be even more expensive - over $1000 for a 6-month premium!!!! That's outrageous. And due to the inaccuracy of the app, my discount has decreased significantly. And the worst part is there is nothing I can do because Geico refuses to address the issue!

Denied! That is what you will hear if you file a claim with Geico when animals decide to attack your RV. My husband and I pulled our 5th wheel out of storage from its winter hibernation, anxious to get the rv cleaned and ready to use for the season. We soon discovered that racoons ripped chunks of the roof membrane; we were horrified. Taking a deep breath, I said, let's call Geico and tell them what happened and get this fixed! We called, explained what happened, and 3 days later after they told us to send in photos and give a recorded statement we got an answer- DENIED!
Like many of those that have insurance and expect things like this to be covered, I was in shock. I spoke with the representative and asked "If my policy doesn't cover animal damage, do you have a policy that does?" Her answer, NO. Geico's RV insurance polices only cover your RV if you hit an animal with it, any other actions caused by any animal (bears, racoons, birds, ALL animals) is not covered. I then mentioned that if I were to start a campfire, let it get out of control, and the RV happen to get caught in the fire and burn to the ground, would I be covered? Her answer, yes, fire is covered. Unbelievable! Something tells me that if I were to file a claim for that, Geico would respond saying, " EXCLUSION" - we have a "Stupid person caught their own RV on fire exemption!"
Lesson learned- dropping Geico and will find insurance that will cover damages by animals, we received a quote for over $ 10,000.00 to get ours fixed, which will all have to be out of pocket for us. If you currently have Geico as your insurance carrier, I encourage you to call them, verify what I'm telling you, and then find yourself another insurance carrier. No one ever wants a racoon to damage their RV but the last thing you want to hear is DENIED!!!

I was in a fender bender in May 2025 where a GEICO policyholder rear ended me. It was a small accident, so I made the mistake of not calling the police to make a police report. I did take photos, but GEICO denied my accident claim, and didn’t even send anyone to look at the damage to my car. Make sure that if you are ever in an accident with a GEICO policyholder especially if the accident was their fault to always have a police officer come and make a police report. Taking photos of the damage is not enough for GEICO to pay for the repairs to your vehicle, even if their policyholder was at fault for the accident. They told me I needed to get more proof such as video proof or witnesses of the accident. That’s nearly impossible to get! GEICO fits the cliche of insurance companies finding any way to get out of paying for vehicle damages their policyholders cause.

I have been a loyal Geico policy holder for my auto insurance for well over 20 years. I am a retired veteran and never had any issues with Geico until now. About a year ago I chose to cancel my policy because I was going to sell my truck and move to Alaska. Then some personal issues came up with a family member that I needed to take care of. You see, my mom has been diagnosed with dementia and the early onset of Alzheimer's. I had just recently left my job but I had my retirement from the military as income. I have been living with her and trying to take care of her the best I can. She has forgotten how to cook different foods and she was an awesome cook being a farm girl from Kansas. It has been painful to watch when I have to explain how to make something as simple as a taco.
Anyway, I saw no reason to renew my policy because I can have the grocery store deliver and food and everything else was in close proximity that I may need. I would either walk or ride my bicycle. I thought I would save a little money since I was living on a much reduced income. So, my vehicle has sat in the driveway for a year. Now my mom wants to sell the house and move into assisted living complex. So I decide to restart my insurance so I can get my truck back on the road. I call Geico and was denied insurance by them. All they could say was the system flagged me and I would be receiving a letter in the mail as to why I was denied coverage. Just got that letter today. The reason, a lapse in coverage. Seriously!?! I could not believe what I was reading.
Now I have to use a different company that they recommended, and have an affiliation with, paying $65 more a month for full coverage. Now I am seriously thinking about joining AARP. I don't think I want anything to do with Geico or any affiliates they may have. I have read some of the negative news about Geico. It is a shame. They used to be such a trustworthy company. My advice, look elsewhere. Especially if you are a veteran. Geico does not deserve our business.

Geico – Disappointing, Dishonest, and Disrespectful. We’ve been loyal Geico customers, paying over $1,000/month for three vehicles, with a spotless claim history. Unfortunately, when it came time to actually use the service — for the first time — Geico failed us miserably. My Tesla was vandalized in a Gainesville parking lot. The damage was clear: a dent on the back passenger side (no paint damage), and a shattered roof glass. Pretty straightforward, right? Not for Geico.
Their assigned assessor Ethan, working through Certified Collision Center in Gainesville, shockingly claimed this was “two separate incidents” — a clear attempt to split the claim and increase my deductible. How convenient for them. It feels like Geico’s adjuster was more interested in protecting their bottom line than actually understanding the situation. He completely missed the essence of the damage, ignored the context, and tried to minimize their payout at our expense.
So let me be clear: One incident, two areas of damage. One claim filed, after years of loyalty and zero prior claims. And this is how we’re treated? I’m absolutely appalled by the way this was handled. I will be sharing this experience across all social platforms to ensure others are warned. If you're thinking of switching to Geico — don't. I was in a hit and run back in January 25, a truck slammed into my car on the hwy going about 75/80 (per police) while I was going about 60. Needless to say my car is totally destroyed as is my faith in Geico insurance company. I’ve had Geico for yrs and by the end of 2024 I switched to Progressive because while I had my insurance set up on automatic payment I had to get a whole new bank account because of fraud, I didn’t have a chance to switch over all my automatic payments yet so it messed up my payments with Geico, they wanted the rest of the payments due for the 6 month premium which I didn’t have at the time so I switched to Progressive, They offered all of which I had at Geico and a lower deductible for about $20 more.
I did however continue to check on quotes with Geico because I did have them for yrs and also my house is covered under them. I just felt better having both my car and home under the same umbrella. One day I get an email from Geico for a quote for $90 for full coverage which is what I always had even 2 yrs after my car was paid off, it never changed. I went ahead and jumped on the $90 for full coverage through the email but this time it enrolled me all on line. It kept saying a live person would call me if I preferred (which I did) to talk to a live person rather than complete it on line, but just answer one more question, and one more and one more. Before I knew it I was enrolled with Geico insurance.
I was not feeling good about doing this all on line because I like talking with a live person so I know I’m understanding things correctly and we’re on the same page. I called and told the rep what I had just done and wanted to make sure I was covered from head to toe and mostly wanted to make sure the hail coverage was added because we get hail every yr where I live but I actually forgot about the hail once she told me I was totally covered and should have no worries. I said "If a spaceship falls from the sky and lands on my car I’m covered right?" She said yes. "If I hit a brick wall I’m covered right," she said yes.
So why then is Geico now saying I don’t have full coverage and the hit and run is not covered? The $90 I was quoted is approximately within a few dollars of what I’ve always paid for full full coverage. It’s about $20 less than the full coverage I had with Progressive. Why would I ever be concerned that this company I’ve been with for yrs, plus my house for yrs would do some shady stuff like this. I can tell you. They have taken out payments since this has happen even though my car is totaled and they know this. I was told by one of the reps that if I cancel my insurance with them that it would close out my claim??? Talk about shady.. I am extremely disappointed with Geico, I cannot believe this is even happening. I just want them to do right by me and my family and cover the claim.

Geico will do everything they can to push you to sign a settlement to limit what they have to pay and transfer their responsibilities to you, even before they know your injuries. They care zero about you, they care only about their wallet. Find your insurance anywhere else.

After adding two random individuals to my policy and billing me for the increase, I canceled my policy. They told me this is normal policy to just add people to your account if they have the same address as the policy holder at the DMV. Well if you are renting and moved into a home recently the past person still has the address in their ID. I have been at this address for 6 months however. Now that I know they do this often. I am done with them.

On Jan 31st I dropped off my vehicle at a body shop for repairs for an accident that my vehicle was parked and unattended. So naturally I had to get a rental car through GEICO. Geico took 14 days to give the approval to work on the vehicle. So 1/2 way through the rental agreement the body shop was allowed to start work. It has now been 37 days meaning geico said, "Too bad the rental's on you". The other insurance company doesn't know how to answer the phone either so geico is throwing the $500 deductible and the $400 rental bill at me. So this accident that I wasn't involved in is costing me $900 and geico answer is, "There's nothing we can do". Lost a customer and gained a lawsuit. Terrible service.

I signed up for an auto insurance policy with Geico and coverage started on 2/3/2025. At no time during my enrollment did the agent request any additional supporting documents to have my policy remain active. I received a letter in the mail stating Geico required additional documents (copy of DL, documentation of proof of residency [utility bill during active policy period], proof of auto ownership, copy of previous auto declaration page. I emailed the documents, which I believed were an unreasonable request. Geico states that have 24-48 hrs to review documents. I then received an email 2 days later stating that some of the documents did not meet their requirements, ie document was not within policy service dates.
Resubmitted the correct documents which then led to another 24-48 waiting period for Geico to review new documents. Mind you, my policy in the meantime was cancelled because the documents were not received in time. They would have been if I didn't have to wait 1-2 days for an email response and then submit documents per their request. I was a previous Geico customer for 10 years and never encountered such a cumbersome request to maintain an auto policy. My hope is that Geico reviews their business practices to make it more convenient for customers to enroll in a policy.

Geico is the epitome of corporate greed. They profited $39B last year by gouging customers, denying claims, and frivolous charges. In 2023, I switched from Geico to Progressive (best decision ever). 3 months later, I received a collection notice in the mail on behalf of Geico for $122. Collection agency couldn’t provide any details as to what the charges were for (unscrupulous). With the negative mark on my credit and hopes of buying a house soon, I reluctantly settled the bill for a lower amount and asked that they remove it from my credit, they refused.
Despite several phone calls, emails, and complaints to Geico, going all the way up to their CFO, they still refuse to remove it from my credit and it is still hampering my ability to purchase a house. I gave Geico thousands of dollars over YEARS and they destroy my credit and negatively impact my credit, for $122?!? Filthy and disgusting corporate greed. Shame on Geico leadership team and shareholders for condoning this behavior, while they have lost over a million customers.

I have been with GEICO for around 12 years. Today 2/20/25 as I was going to retrieve my VIN number for my vehicle I went to the app and found out GEICO had cancelled my policy. I was told that the explanation was that I went with a different company. I told her, no I have not sought any quotes from any other insurance company for a long time...maybe a year or two. Then she tells me I owe a fee of $35 to have my policy reinstated. I have a very tight budget as I work for a local huge retailer who pays crap to their hard working employees to survive on. So instead of getting my car registration sticker updated I now have to wait until it is overdue when I will have the full amount. My daughter who was with GEICO changed her coverage on the exact date that my policy was cancelled. GEICO has a very poor training system, auditing processes and procedures. Sad! I do not recommend this company.

I have NEVER been treated as I have been with Geico and made to feel like my nervousness to drive a wrecked vehicle is MY ISSUE. Their client is the one that was messing around in the snow (with a child in the car) and caused this accident. Blowing thru a stop sign.
I will NEVER suggest Geico and i will ALWAYS be 100% truthful when suggesting an insurance company. (it is spoken about often, in my line of work). If they are going to treat claimants like this, how are they gonna treat their own clients. They would not make their wife drive something that she was scared to drive, that's a guarantee.

Geico is guilty of the classic bait and switch. I went online to get a quote for two vehicles and the quote was a lot less than other companies had quoted me. It prompted me to make a payment for $153 which was supposed to be my monthly payment and then I find out later that the actual monthly payment was $273. This is very misleading and had I made that payment I would have been stuck with an overpriced policy.

Insurance was cancelled 2 weeks after initially enrolling and paying full premium costs. Was told due to not completing Additional Driver document (for a 7 & 8 yr old). Informed this rep that this information was not requested or communicated by their rep at time of enrollment. They commented that we intentionally did not provide this information (provided false information).
I advised them that this information/document was not requested (and again for 7 & 8 yr old) and requested they forward the document and we would compete. Also advised if we intentionally did not advise of the children, why would we have provided copies of insurance cards as requested during enrollment? Was advised they made their decision and we needed to have another company write this policy. I advised at minimum they should retrain the rep that wrote our policy so they communicate and request and receive all required information. I requested additional contact information so I could discuss with someone above her and I was then told ”are you done because I am hanging up”.

Geico customer loyalty very bad. Claim 11/24 - still incomplete, repairs not done - would not call, email me. Tried to send me $$ for the estimate just to get rid of me - claimed repair shop did this and that. I have proof with pictures, video of repair shop taking $ from GEICO and not doing the work - Geico corporate and parent company contacted. They are totally incompetent to complete a claim - keep handing it off to someone else - could tell more!

GEICO puts huge profit margins above people. Almost $4000 for low to no coverage on three old cars. Received a new rate from competitor that is 2.5 times less. Their financials show GEICO grew their profits 2x since 2022. I conclude they are a big part of the reason why we are having massive car insurance inflation. These type of parasitic companies should be avoided at all costs.

I had a really frustrating experience with Geico recently, and honestly, it left me feeling pretty disappointed. I completed a six-hour driver’s course for $12, excited to get the defense driving discount. When I called to let them know I finished, the rep told me I wasn’t eligible because the discount is only for customers 50 and older. That was never mentioned when I first asked about it, and while I did see that info later on their website, I trusted what the rep told me initially. As a loyal customer of two years, I’m extremely disappointed in the lack of clarity and communication. It’s a real letdown, especially since I’ve had good experiences with them before.

We got into an extremely minor car accident in a parking lot and they took the other driver’s word over ours. The other driver had Progressive and said he was parked when the accident happened but he was actually pulling out at the same time as us and we hit the side of his car with our back bumper. We submitted photos but they still wrote on the claim that the guy was parked. So they took the word of the other driver over their own customers who has paid them for 15 years straight with a clean driving record.
We even submitted photos that showed the other car was not parked (wheels turned, other cars parked straight but he was not) and they still took some other driver’s word who never paid them a cent. We feel like they were lazy and didn’t do an investigation of fraudulent claim on the other driver. We’re switching once this is all said and done. They did not reward our loyalty, they just wanted to get it done and over with it with a bad mark on our record. Lost a loyal customer Geico, never again.

Would give a fire and sue rating if possible!!! You wouldn't believe me even if you seen what happened. Have had Geico for years and so has my wife, (my wife ends up taking herself off our policy and starting her own). Now we have 2 policy's totally separate having nothing to do with each others including bill address etc. My plan is up for renewal and of course they tell me I have to wait for an email for a new price (for no reason since nothing has changed). 3 weeks later I call in and sit on the phone for 4 5 hrs being belittled and treated so rude. I'm amazed on how this company is even still allowed to do business in NY (this phone call was recorded and there is proof of the unprofessional way things were handled). Not to mention they block my phone number and my wife's and cancel my wife's policy at the exact moment the manager tells me he is done speaking with me.
Someone tell me why my wife has been effected by my conversation? If anyone would like a full breakdown of this issue and what happened I would gladly share and hopefully someone in the company that actually cares does something since their customer service managers rather spend their hrs on the clock wasted calling people names and not helping at all. Just imagine how many millions of dollars they have stole from people just canceling their policy and blocking them.... You will hear from my attorney and the BBB and I will be making a formal complaint to the attorney generals office regarding the illegal activities that have gone on regarding this issue.

I was with Geico for 3 years and have noticed that they are steadily declining. This is why I left: I got a policy and paid upfront 6 months, at the end I got a lower quote from another company and decided to leave geico. So I informed them I would not be renewing my policy. They then tried to charge me a fee stating it was my last payment. I already paid in advance for my entire policy. Now they sent it to collections. So just know that even if you pay in advance for your service they will charge you more for whatever they can make up, and they try to charge you to leave them and go elsewhere. I will never do business with them again.
