Most unethical and rudest company on the planet. Reporting them to the BBB. Refused to follow their own policies regarding responding two claims (they said 24 hours, reality was that I called them every week for 2 months and never was able to get someone on the phone). I’ve never been in an accident in my life after 26 years of driving and was under the belief I had comprehensive glass insurance. A piece of gravel hit my Windshield and it took over 3 months and 3 claims filed and 9 hours of calling them in order to find out the small print said they wouldn’t cover my windshield. This was news to me as it was stated in my contract that “all glass was covered.” Avoid Geico. They are liars. And threatened to bully me and say they wouldn’t tell the DMV I didn’t have coverage for 3 months. Yet they billed me for every month including the next one. Geico should be put in jail and learn how to talk to customers.

I had to get new car insurance in the middle of the high pandemic. So I had to do it all online. I used some janky tool that gave me crazy high premiums, and picked Geico because at the time it was cheapest. I have never once been able to reach an actual human. There is no clear direction on how to reach anyone when you need them. They are terrible. I kept them out of laziness - I just did not want to hafta deal with changing it. But every year the rate kept INCREASING, despite no claims! At the end there, it was $165 a month JUST FOR LIABILITY! Freaking insane.

Add to this the fact that the ONE time I needed an answer from them - someone else rear ended me, causing no damage, and I stupidly wanted to know whether I needed to report such a thing - I could NOT reach anyone! So I left a message eventually... and they wound up somehow reporting me as having had an accident even though it was not my fault and there was zero damage. So they raised my rate.

They raised it every year since I got it, even though I never had an actual claim. Screw that! The inexplicably $30-a- month more on renewal was the last straw. These guys SSSSUKKKK. I found out AAA has insurance, and just changed over! They're giving me full coverage, not just liability, for HALF AS MUCH!!! I'm getting 5x the coverage, for half as much. SCREW GEICO SO HARD. Between the auto and my housing insurance I'm saving $1200 a year in insurance by ditching geico!!! Of you've got AAA, give geico the finger.

How our agent "Amanda **" ** us up the **. Never use Amanda ** (agent at "WeShop") as your Geico insurance agent. She cost our company $6000 unexpectedly, by not doing her job. We do not blame Geico itself but we do hold them accountable for contracting with such poor third parties. Geico needs to think twice which agency they allow to represent there company, because the wrong agency can allow their company to be cast in a very poor light, as well as, cost them time, customers and money as it did us. We do expect Geico to fully reimburse us for our losses and damages. Sincerely,

I was provided a written estimate of $867.59 for rear-end damage following an October 18, 2025 collision. The claim was denied within 48 hours. After the denial, GEICO conducted an in-person inspection and generated a second “Estimate of Record” on 12/17/25 — again totaling $867.59 — which explicitly noted: “Trailer hitch appears bent. Time to inspect underneath.” Despite documenting potential structural damage after the denial, GEICO never performed a supplemental inspection, issued findings, or reconciled this with their liability decision. Additional evidence submitted, including an engineering analysis and measured photographic documentation, was not meaningfully addressed. The claim was ultimately closed without any reconciliation of these documented inconsistencies. Horrific business practices!

After decades of being a loyal customer with Geico auto, I am canceling my policy due to the opportunistic culture and mindset Geico promotes. Essentially, I watched my premiums climb to $1,163 monthly for 2 drivers on 3 vehicles with an average claim history over decades with Geico. The scale tipped today when I called Geico stating I was interested in canceling my policy. At the that time, the representative offered to “re-quote” the policy to see if the premium could be reduced—explaining that “I was on an older policy and that transferring to a new policy may reduce costs.”

When I asked why that wouldn’t automatically be available to longstanding customers, the representative said, “That’s a good question.” She then offered a quote of $393 monthly ($2,359 / 6 months) which was the same amount offered by another major insurance company the same day. Essentially, Geico is happy to take as much from you as you allow them to—only offering a lower rate when the customer has been adequately exploited and ready to terminate the relationship. When did being a long term customer merit systematic disregard and bias against loyalty rewards?

I’ve used this company for almost 4 years, rates were low and things were working out…until out of nowhere that nearly doubled my rate without explanation and dinged my driver score for riding in cars I wasn’t even driving. Furthermore, they promised me a rate of $190 a month for 6 months only for it to remain $250 for that 6 month period. Everytime I called requesting they update my rate, it was ALWAYS a different rep justifying why the rate remains high due to ‘inflation and where I live.” That’s absolutely bs and I would have never agreed to $250 for 6 months. I canceled and went to Progressive because at least their rates stay CONSISTENT. Tired of this corporate greed. Do not use this company.

We all know insurance rates, (for those of us who bother to have insurance) are sky high. Rates are simply becoming unaffordable. I contacted GEICO for ways to reduce my rates. GEICO stated that an online adult driver course would reduce my rates by 10 to 15%. The cost of the course was $20 dollars and took approximately 4.5 hours to complete. After completing the course , I contacted GEICO to apply my 10 to 15% discount only to be told that the actual savings to me would be approximately 3%... I would not have spent $30 and 4.5 hours of my time for 3%. I spoke to a GEICO manager by phone who agreed with everything I said however, the bottom line was still 3%. As a long term driver and policy holder, I don't appreciate being mislead, having my time and money wasted especially when I know there are better rates out there via GEICO's competitors. Thanks GEICO.

I have been a GEICO customer for over 26 years, insuring multiple vehicles and properties. Until recently, my experience had been positive. However, over the past several months, I have encountered repeated issues that remain unresolved. In March 2025, after returning from overseas, I insured an imported vehicle immediately upon arrival. The vehicle remained stored until it was titled in Maryland in September 2025. In October 2025, I received a notice from the Maryland MVA stating there was an insurance lapse beginning on the date of titling. I contacted GEICO and was told the issue was related to the VIN format. I was assured it was corrected and that the required insurance verification (FR-19) would be sent to the MVA. I later discovered this was not resolved.

On March 13, 2026, while attempting to register another vehicle, I was informed at the MVA that the violation was still active. I spent approximately 90 minutes on the phone with GEICO while at the MVA, but the issue was not resolved. I was ultimately told it would take several days to fix, and I had to leave without completing my registration after taking time off work. Three days later, I received notice from the MVA that GEICO had submitted the insurance information. However, the **insured date provided was incorrect**, and the issue remained unresolved.

I then spent over **four additional hours on the phone with multiple representatives and a supervisor**, repeatedly providing the same case number and VIN. I requested several times to receive a copy of the information being sent to the MVA so I could verify its accuracy. I was informed that this could not be provided and that the information was only being transmitted electronically. I was told something would be sent through a “binder,” but I never received any documentation.

As a result, the only information I have received throughout this process has come from the MVA, not GEICO. I still do not have confirmation of what was submitted on my behalf. Separately, when I attempted to log into my account during this process, I found that my email address and password had been changed without my knowledge. I was able to regain access and secure the account, but I have not received any explanation regarding this change.

    At this point:
    • I have lost work time on multiple occasions
    • I have had to make repeated calls totaling several hours
    • I have been unable to verify what information is being submitted on my behalf

    • I have not received a response regarding my account concern

It has now been several days since I raised both the reporting issue and the account concern, and I have not received any follow-up. After 26 years as a customer, this experience has been extremely disappointing. I am returning to the MVA again and can only hope that the correct information has now been submitted. I have also submitted this issue for review through formal channels and am seeking clarification on both the reporting discrepancies and account access changes. I am requesting that GEICO review this situation and provide a response.

My name is Sarah **. I am writing to formally dispute and express concern regarding the handling of my recently cancelled auto insurance policy and the subsequent final balance notice I received. At the time my policy was cancelled, I was in the midst of receiving a breast cancer diagnosis and navigating the immediate medical challenges that came with it. During this period, I unfortunately missed a single payment. When I realized the issue and attempted to contact GEICO to explain my situation, I was informed that my policy had already been cancelled and that no accommodation or resolution could be offered. Although I was disappointed, I accepted the decision and moved forward to secure coverage elsewhere.

Three months later, however, I received a “Final Notice” stating that I have a remaining balance of $185.29. This has raised a serious concern for me. Since the policy cancellation was initiated by GEICO, I do not understand how a remaining balance could still be owed months later. The timing of this notice is particularly difficult, as I am currently preparing for a double mastectomy and the recovery period that follows. When I contacted GEICO again to seek clarification or possible assistance, I was told that despite my circumstances, the payment was still required. While the representative expressed sympathy, no effort was made to review the situation or consider any form of resolution.

Given the circumstances surrounding my missed payment, the cancellation initiated by GEICO, and the delayed billing notice, I am requesting that this $185.29 balance be reviewed and considered for adjustment or waiver. I respectfully ask that this matter be escalated for further review by a supervisor or the appropriate customer relations department. I would appreciate a written response explaining the basis of the remaining balance and whether any consideration can be given given the extraordinary circumstances involved.

I had auto insurance with Geico. A few months ago, I checked their app to see what it might cost to add a driver to my account. I checked this quote, found the price to be unaffordable, and *did not* make the change to my plan. Without notice or consent, they took this as authorization to increase my current year bill by 20%. Geico did not notify me of any change to my current year premium. Upon checking my balance for the next six month bill, I noticed the bill discrepancy and immediately contacted them via chat. They stated that they would not resolve the discrepancy, so I signed up for a competitor and canceled my plan.

A few days later, Geico sent me a bill for the "outstanding balance" of 20% for the "additional risk" of my quote. I believe this is exploitative, anti-consumer, and that it is illegal to present their quote in such a way, particularly without notice of this billing change. It's analogous to if I had requested a quote for roadside assistance and they decided that my desire to check how much that might cost constitutes additional risk and authorizes them to increase the bill without notice.

Except it blocked access to the glass pics now saved to my phone and also wouldn't allow me to take pics one by one and upload as it suggested. Geico is definitely the cheapest insurance with the best coverage. However their "drive easy" program is severely flawed. The program uses your phone to monitor your driving habits, which is not a terrible issue. The issue comes in if you are a First Responder, i.e. firefighter, EMT Paramedic, or Law Enforcement Officer. All of these professions require defensive and offensive driving like speeding, rapid acceleration, hard braking, and sharp turns when responding to emergencies. But if these professionals opt out of "drive easy" their premium increases by $1000 or more. How is this in ANY way fair to ANYBODY.

After having our auto & home insurance with GEICO for over 30 years. We’ve been completely an utterly shocked and disappointed in them. My husband had a fender bender going about 6 miles an hour. There was no damage to our car. The gentleman that we rolled into the back of his car got out of the car and was screaming at us how we totaled his car. He was running around crazy screaming on and on, and on videoing the whole entire thing. When I said to him, hey I’m really sorry, but can we try and just bring it down? He proceeded to scream at me not to try and change the narrative. It was then I knew I was dealing with a thief and a fraud. We got videos of him hopping in and out of his car, turning his head on a swivel.

Coincidentally, we ran into him two weeks after the accident, and he was turning his head like on a swivel just the same! Within two months, Geico Insurance settled with him and awarded him $100,000. Why? Because it was easier to throw us down the drain then it was to stand their ground with him and say no. They lost an opportunity to stop fraud in the insurance business and to stand behind a customer of 30+ years. We didn’t even get a phone call letting us know that they had awarded the thief $100,000. This is impacted our insurance rates as you can imagine. Honest hard-working people sold down the tubes by GEICO.

If I could give GEICO zero stars, I would. I have never experienced an insurance company that treats victims the way GEICO treated us. Last year, my husband’s car was stolen like literally stolen and we went straight to GEICO thinking, Okay, we’re covered, they’re going to help us. THEY DID NOTHING. We told them every detail, we gave them the full story, we even had CAMERA FOOTAGE showing the thieves taking the car. Do you think GEICO cared? No. Do you think they lifted one finger to help? No. We had to do all the work ourselves while they sat back and collected premiums like everything was fine. And the way they treated us? Cold, rude, dismissive, unprofessional. Every time we called, it felt like WE were bothering THEM.

They took THREE MONTHS to respond three months without a car, three months of stress, three months of silence and after all that time, they denied the claim like they hadn’t wasted our time and played in our faces. At that point, it was clear: GEICO does not care about their customers, especially the ones who are actually going through real-life emergencies. They left us hanging, they left us unprotected, and they left us feeling like we didn’t matter at all. If you’re reading this, please take this seriously don’t let the commercials fool you. When you actually need help, GEICO disappears. They had one job: INSURE the customer. Instead, they made everything harder. Do better, GEICO. People depend on you in their worst moments. Geico is one of the most expensive car insurance companies I have gotten a quote from. We were out of town and our vehicle was broken into. Filed a glass repair claim as both the windshield and side window were broken. Geico charged us our deductible and CS directed us to a local glass shop and sent a link to take photos of the damage but the instructions were not clear that photos needed to be taken BEFORE going to the glass shop, as the damage needed to be reviewed and approve prior to repair, so we went to the shop and attempted to take photos there.

The shop was located in an industrial park and we had data connectivity issues. Contacted Customer Support and again was give poor instruction on how to resolve our issue. The glass shop completed the glass replacement, and we tried to upload and email our photos but Geico would not accept them that way. They then denied our claim stating the replacement was done before the claim was approved. Why would they send the glass shop a PO and charge us a deductible for the work, if they were not going to approve the claim? Now the glass shop is charging us over $1000 for the work and they couldn't even calibrate the windshield! Now, we have to pay and additional amount to get the windshield calibrated at another shop! This is terrible service. :(

Geico advocates cheap parts, cutthroat wages, lower quality repair techniques, etc. Be prepared to pay out of pocket if you use a shop that’s outside their network or you need one that’s certified by your vehicle manufacturer to return it to its pre-loss condition.

Not only are they high on their insurance quotes, but they send the adjuster out to the wrong address and state. Then they assign you to another adjuster and this adjuster, when it finally returns your calls, is very rude and doesn’t allow for you to speak on your behalf. Looks like someone wasn't trained properly. Customer service should be first and foremost the priority. So I’m only giving Geico a 2.

Finally you get a reasonable quote and in the end when you provide the VIN NO. and they find an accident or other item they don't like on it they question and you tell them different which is correct, they then double your quote. They will fail to notify your state DMV about your insurance policy and your state will cancel your insurance and you will have to pay a fee. In some cases you'll be on your way to work and get pulled over and have your vehicle towed and pay all the expenses yourself and they will tell you they won't cover you because it's not their fault when it's clearly on their end. After 5+ years of a perfect driving record - accident-free and ticket-free - my rates had gone UP. Mind you this is in my 20s when every year of perfect driving should be significantly lowering my risk profile to insurance companies. I finally decided to shop them and cut my rates in half with the same coverage. They have no loyalty to existing customers and will be more than happy to scam you until you churn. I'll be shopping my insurance company every 12-18 months going forward, but I will never switch back to Geico unless they give me a nice 4-figure bonus check to compensate for the what should be criminal rates they had me on.

She told me that she has to transfer me to another department that handles ride share but that department is closed today. I said ok that’s fine I don’t think I’m even going to do ride share anyways. She then said I cannot get an insurance quote without me getting in writing that I no longer do ride share!! You literally cannot even get anyone to speak to on door dash support only AI. It’s so crazy and hard to get ahold of support on door dash and I need to get it in writing that I will not be door dashing!!!

They can’t be serious, this is so crazy!!! They won’t even give me a quote without ride share on it unless I prove that I deleted the app which why would I delete the app which would delete all my history of door dashing which if I decided to not stop doing door dash I most definitely would not want to delete my perfect driving score and reviews with door dash!! This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Number one I would never ever deliver with door dash unless I was fully insured ride share with my Insurance having ride share on it!! I can’t believe this is how they treat a potential future customer and she was very rude and seemed very annoyed. This person should not work in customer service and if this is Geico policy to not even give somebody a quote unless they erase and get written proof that they no longer have the door dashing app. That is one insane policy if I erased it and decided I wanted to continue to door dash I would have to go through the whole sign up process again and have to wait 3x weeks for background check and upload all my information like inspection, registration etc… what a terrible way to treat a new prospective customer!!!

Just all that right there I will never for the rest of my life even try to use Geico again and I will leave as many reviews as I can copying and pasting this review and spreading the word to everybody I know (which is alot of people) about how bad and poorly Geico treats customers that just wanted a dam quote!!!! ⭐☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing and Potentially Dangerous Practice. I purchased a GEICO personal auto policy and after I paid, my fiancé was excluded as a driver—without any prominent notification or warning. The only reason I caught it is because I’ve been in the insurance industry for 15+ years and reviewed the documents carefully. The exclusion appeared quietly in the DocuSign packet.

My fiancé has no tickets and only one minor fender bender, in a vehicle she didn’t own and that was insured by someone else. I could understand a surcharge or underwriting review—but excluding a household driver without clearly flagging it is dangerous. If I had clicked through DocuSign like most consumers do and she was involved in an accident, I could have faced catastrophic financial consequences. We could have lost everything we’ve worked for. Now I’m stuck with a useless policy, wasted time, and the added frustration of navigating a call-center just to get my money back. Read every single page if you buy a policy from GEICO. This is not a small oversight—it’s a serious consumer protection issue. Ten fingers down.

I am now being told by my claims adjuster Adam, mind you who never answers the phone when I call, that I will be responsible for my battery because it is a wearable item. I told him that I hadn’t had an issue with my battery and only had the car for a year. He told me that the battery only lasts for three years and it is a wearable item so I will be responsible for the battery. I explained to him the reason why my battery got drained was because they put an aftermarket bumper on original sensors, which I’m still not sure if they truly replaced, and therefore it drained my battery as I was told by the dealership.

This has been an ongoing battle and not a very pleasant experience. I spoke to his boss David, and let’s just say there is lack of customer service and professionalism as he is in agreements with Adam. Till this day, I am waiting for David’s manager to call me to see how we can settle this issue. I would never recommend Geico to anyone. They have really gone downhill.

The auto shop returned my car back to me saying they couldn’t get Geico to help with the repairs .. due to Geico saying I caused the damage and that's not true, now my vehicle is unsafe to drive but I have to use this vehicle because I don’t have another one to use. I’m just hoping and praying that I’m able to keep myself and others safe as I work through this issue. I even have videos and photos of how my vehicle was allowed to leave the shop.. however the video will not upload.

I was a GEICO customer for over 10 years and used to recommend them without hesitation. Unfortunately, in the last 5–8 years the experience has gone sharply downhill, to the point that I finally switched carriers. The biggest problem is that it’s now almost impossible to manage my policy online or through the mobile app. Simple tasks (viewing policy documents, downloading ID cards, making a payment change, or updating information) almost always end with an error message that says “We’re unable to process your request. Please call customer service.”

When you do call: Average wait times are 30–70 minutes (I’ve tracked the last six calls). Once you reach an agent, many of them are polite but unable to resolve app/website issues or even basic policy questions on the first call. I’ve been transferred multiple times and still left without a solution. It feels as though GEICO has allowed their digital platforms to degrade to the point of being non-functional while simultaneously making phone support so time-consuming that many people just give up. For a company that built its brand on “15 minutes could save you 15% or more,” the current reality is that 15 minutes won’t even get you through the phone queue. If you’re shopping for insurance in 2025, I strongly recommend testing the mobile app and online account experience of any company you’re considering. I hold our hope that Geico will modernize their systems and improve their user experience in the near future. 1/5 stars only because I can’t give zero.

I was told to send in proof that he doesn’t live with me, and I did, they changed his statues to away at school. I received another email stating that my new amount monthly would be $367 and it would automatically be drafted on the 7th of the next month. Then I received another message stating that my policy would cancel. All of these changes was done in 1 month by GEICO.

I called them every couple of days since I opened the account in October. I was getting emails stating one thing and when I called they said something different. They ended up rewriting my policy 2 weeks after the automatic draft was supposed to come out on the 7th of November and changed my date to the 23 of every month and charged me for $342. For the changes they made again from the 7th to the 23 and also changed me for $367 for that same month. I paid double in 1 month because of GEICO’s incompetence! Bad busy! When our case went to mediation, my Geico adjuster, Audrey **, did a terrific job of resolving the case. My son is not included on my account. He received a delinquent notice after making his quarterly payment and mentioned it to me. They told him they would check to see if they could locate his payment, but in the meantime, his account was at risk of cancellation. Upon reviewing my account, I noticed an unfamiliar payment and a new debit card I did not recognize. He had to call GEICO, who then needed to call me with him on the line so I could give my permission for them to transfer his payment back to his account. Now, they have required that I make a three-month payment when I was set up on a monthly payment plan.

I called customer service and spoke with a supervisor, who said they would investigate the matter and call me back. Unfortunately, I have not budgeted for a three-month payment. Needless to say, I never received a callback, and unless I come up with $624 before midnight, my policy will be cancelled. This is happening just a week before Thanksgiving. Although my car insurance is now paid, I can't afford to buy dinner for my family. After nearly 20 years with GEICO, this is how they repay loyalty. I will be searching for a new insurance carrier. I was in an accident that happened recently. I made a claim on the app and gave my side of what happened. A couple of days later, I got a call from Todd, the claim advisor, asking for my side, but I had already received an email stating it was my fault, which is odd because I had never spoken to him before this. I explained what happened, and he was being rude and very condescending. He kept making excuses for the other party while I was trying to explain what happened and correcting me as I’m speaking.

The other party is trying to claim an injury when it was a beyond low-impact collision, and she did the damage to my car. She was speeding and didn't brake in time because I merged—I checked mirrors, blind spot, and had my blinker on before I made the decision— and she hit me on the side of my car because she was on the curb.

Todd automatically blamed me, even though I witnessed the whole situation. He told me the other party "had no idea what happened and that she had nowhere to go and she was in the left lane," as if that gives enough evidence on the collusion, but I get the blame when I have a detailed breakdown, and they are asking for evidence on my half when the other party has none, just words. I then spoke to another Geico employee because I felt embarrassed for even giving my side of the story, and she listened to me, which I appreciated, and apologized for that behavior. Even though I am paying Geico for my car insurance, I am very unsatisfied with the tone, rudeness, and being put down right away.

Don't waste your time with any claims without evidence or a witness; they automatically blame you, even though you clearly explained what happened and will make excuses for the other person. My time was wasted, and I wish I hadn't explained anything if I was going to be blamed right away. Save your money and time and never get Geico unless you want to be at fault for everything.

This is my claim that I explained. I was heading eastbound on South Santa Fe Avenue when I approached a red light at the intersection of South Santa Fe and Mar Vista Drive. At this light, there were two cars in front of me, one in each lane, with me being in the right lane behind one car. I checked my mirrors while we were waiting at the light, and I saw three cars behind me, with no cars next to me.

The light turned green, so we all proceeded out of the intersection and started to accelerate. After the intersection, the car in front of me slammed on their brakes with no signal to make an immediate last-minute decision and turned into the gas station 50 feet after the intersection. At this point, we were traveling under 10 mph, and I didn't want to get rear-ended. So I signaled to get over and checked my mirrors while doing so, and then I started to make my lane change with a clear lane. While about a quarter of the way into my lane change, a blue Corolla, which was one of the cars behind me, forced their way into my lane from the middle of the intersection behind me going about 25+ mph, and collided with my vehicle's driver door while I was about three-quarters of the way into the lane.

After she collided with me, she went up the median and hit a sign pole because of her illegal lane change and excessive rate of speed based on the circumstances, which could have been avoided if she had used her brakes. After this happened, the driver of the Blue Corolla then pulled over into the middle of the road, and I had to pull in front of her and get her into the smog shop parking lot.

There I asked her why she hit me and if she saw my car already in the lane, to which she replied—and I quote—"I hit you and ended up on the curb, taking my mirror off from the pole." She was asking me what offer I could make and to not take it to insurance. At the scene, I checked up on her about five times; my dad and an MS auto shop employee also checked up on her, and she said, "She's okay.” We then exchanged information in the MS Auto and smog parking lot and went about our day.

I tried to hire attorney but attorney refused to work with me because my claim was under 5k. So the attorney doesn’t make enough money. And GEICO knows that. It’s a scam.

Never pay in full to get a lower rate. Geico will make it its number one priority to double your rate, either without letting you know any reason or by sending you random letters giving you 15 days to respond, which can be very difficult or impossible to do if you have a busy work life with travels. Also been subjected to lies, when I was told that letters have been sent which I never received. I open all my mail, sometimes a little late due to business travels. But Geico is the only reportedly reputable insurance/financial institution which claimed sending me letters which I never received (2 total) in my 29 years of adult life.

After someone ran a stop sign and hit my car, I expected GEICO to guide me through the claims process with at least a basic level of support and professionalism. Instead, what I experienced was one of the most frustrating, careless, and infuriating insurance claims I’ve ever dealt with. The damage to my car was on the rear driver’s side — exterior work that should have been simple to handle. But what followed was a long, exhausting series of avoidable issues, lack of communication, and outright negligence. A few shoutouts are in order.

Shoutout to @GEICO for delivering the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. Your team made a stressful situation infinitely worse by being nearly impossible to reach, unwilling to help, and completely disconnected from the realities of what your policyholders go through. To Cindy **, my assigned claims adjuster, your refusal to return phone calls, voicemails, or respond to any communication directly impacted the timeline and clarity of this process. I only ever got through to you when routed through GEICO’s main line — which is absurd for someone actively handling a claim.

To your ghost “supervisor,” Ray, despite leaving multiple voicemails, I never heard from you either. I wasn’t calling to complain — I was simply trying to get information and next steps. Being ignored at every level is inexcusable. To Susi Autobody on Freeport St. in Dorchester, while the exterior repairs were completed, my car came back with new problems — including malfunctioning windows and a crash sensor light that wasn’t on before. These issues weren’t present before the accident or the repairs.

Another shoutout to GEICO for deciding those were “preexisting conditions” — despite a second mechanic’s clear opinion that the previous shop had done something wrong. That second mechanic even tried reaching out to GEICO and to Cindy directly, multiple times. He was ignored too. The whole experience was mishandled from beginning to end. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no effort to fix what went wrong. I expected help from my insurance company — not silence, dismissal, and more damage than I started with. On a positive note, I want to thank George at the Gulf Station on Bedford St. in Lexington MA, who’s been incredibly helpful over the years. Honest, reliable, and everything GEICO and its partners failed to be in this situation.

We are currently at a 3.0 rate on our mortgage but because this put us into a negative value, our escrow account it raised our monthly mortgage over 1,000 dollars. We come to find out from our mortgage company that they were charged 5,300 in less than 6 months, which is what put our escrow account into the negative. We went with another insurance company.

When Geico sent us a refund check, it should have been a hell of a lot more than they sent. My escrow account was 7,000 dollars in the negative because of them. Then, when you try to call and you ask for a supervisor, they never put one on. Or you get comments like, "Why did your mortgage company pay those fees." But my mortgage company had to by law. So they just don’t know what the hell they are talking about. We were never even notified of any of the changes from them. They just increased the insurance. I’m sick and can’t work. My husband is only a chef and works 7 days a week. So this extra money is gonna be hard for us.

Complaint: On September 26, 2025, a GEICO representative quoted me $2,048.78 for my auto insurance renewal with $500,000/$500,000 liability limits, plus a $60 driving class discount once all drivers completed the course. This is the quote I expect GEICO to honor. Instead: GEICO has refused to honor that quote, leaving my policy at lower liability limits. My premium has been raised 26% over the last six months, without explanation, even though no such increase was approved in New Jersey. Calls and emails to GEICO’s executives, including CEO Todd Combs, have gone unanswered (last unanswered email: 10/1/25).

When I called again on October 1, 2025, I was told underwriting “rejected” restoring my prior liability limits — limits I previously carried with GEICO. There was no reasonable basis for denial. Incorrect limits now inflate my umbrella coverage, adding further costs. I have documented all calls and emails. I also asked GEICO to review the September 26 call recording to confirm the quoted rate. Despite being directed by GEICO’s social media team to “chat online” for help, and speaking with a polite representative who acknowledged my issue, no one ever followed up.

My Demands: Honor the $2,048.78 renewal quote plus the $60 discount after course completion. Restore my $500,000/$500,000 bodily injury liability limits and correct my umbrella coverage. Provide a written explanation for the 26% premium increase in New Jersey. As both a long-term GEICO customer and a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder, I believe Warren Buffett would not be pleased to see GEICO treating policyholders this way. I have also notified the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance (DOBI) and have shared my story with local and national media already covering GEICO’s steep rate hikes. This situation demands immediate resolution before my policy renewal on October 20, 2025.

When comes to claim against another Geico insurer, I noticed delay tactic and my perception of not willing pay out for repair, etc. that's when I have to call for updates on the claim to have the process moving. I'm not even sure how that works out where my husband I have both older drivers, clean driving records, no claims, etc. Kind of weird for a company not wanting your money, but I'll never call them again.

A driver with Geico insurance ran a stop sign and t-boned the passenger side of our 2003 Lexus RX300. The highest estimate to fix the damage was almost 7k, and the lowest was just under 4k. We would've been satisfied with getting the work done, even if subpar (considering the price difference we assume it may have been), at the place that offered the lowest estimate, but the most Geico would pay was $2300, leaving us $1700 short of making things right! Thank goodness no one was injured in the accident because I'm certain it would have been a struggle that would've required a lawyer.

It is beyond me that someone (us) can be riding down the road in our one owner car, that we have cared for very well in both maintenance and aesthetics, be hit by another car with Geico insurance, and never be made whole because THEY decide that the value of your car is not worth the price to fix it, although there are NO cars (our make, model, year) that come anywhere close to ours in value that can be purchased for less than 4k!!! How can this be legal with all the cars driving on the road paying so much $$$$ in car insurance!?! I just know that had I carried it to small claims court we would have been compensated at least to have it fixed at the shop offering the lowest estimate, but my husband said no because he didn't want to deal with the additional stress. If the car were in my name guaranteed I would have. Additionally, the Geico estimator & agents were rude and callous. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

I would give zero stars if I could. I have been a GEICO customer for 7 years. I have used roadside assistance twice. The first time the service was awful, but I chalked it up to a fluke. Yesterday the service was so awful that I will be switching to another carrier ASAP. At 11:00 am on Saturday, September 6, my car broke down. I pulled over and arranged for GEICO’s Roadside Assistance. I was given a 90 minute estimate. After 90 minutes I called and learned that GEICO cancelled my request due to an inability to get ahold of me. Absolutely no attempts were made by GEICO or the tow company to contact me. I called GEICO at 12:40 pm to request another tow. I was told the second truck would arrive by 1:27 pm. After multiple missed estimates and calls to the company, the truck arrived just after 3:00 pm.

Despite no claims, my rate goes up every single year by double digit percentages. I have never missed a payment. And somehow a single woman waiting on the side of the road is not emergency enough for GEICO or their partners. Do not pay GEICO. It is zero value for your dollar and if you are a loyal customer, they will leave you stranded on the side of the road for hours.

I tried the website again and got much further, all the way to entering my debit card details. No matter how many times I entered the number, the website kept saying the field was empty. I tried the app again and just got the random error message again.

I called customer service again and waited just over an hour (3.5 total hours on hold now). I started a case with the virtual online assistant through the app. I eventually got a real person after 10 min wait. They informed me that in my state to restart insurance has to be done over the phone through customer support. None of the error messages I received on the website or app indicated this. I was a Geico customer for over 20 years. 2 years ago, I was hit head on by another driver and sustained serious injuries. The other driver was the at-fault driver (ran a red light) which was reflected in the police report. The other driver was driving his friend's car and had no insurance, but the friend who owned the car (not involved in the accident) was also insured by Geico. The at-fault car owner's claims adjuster contacted me before my claims adjuster reached out, and he proceeded to treat me like garbage when I responded to his questions, even questioning my honesty when I misunderstood one of his questions due to the concussion I sustained.

I was the victim being treated like a criminal. My adjuster treated me with respect and, after uploading the police report, confirmed I was in no way being questioned as partially at fault as I had clearly not violated any road rules. It took a while to receive the check for my totaled vehicle, and they ultimately refunded my deductible they initially held. I spent two years receiving medical treatment (which I still need) for my injuries and, for many reasons (I won't bore you with all the details) including Geico's initial refusal to pay out, ended up hiring a lawyer. It took over two years for Geico to agree to a settlement, my policy skyrocketed, and my documents were being sent to someone else's address (not sure why this continued to happen).

I finally decided to cancel my policy. Now, they're billing me for a cancelled policy but refuse to send me an itemized bill showing why I owe them money when they got away with not settling for the full coverage I had on my policy or covering all of my medical bills. I lost out big time in the accident I didn't cause, and I was treated like garbage again when I called to request an itemized bill for the cancelled policy. I wish I hadn't been such a loyal customer for 20 years, especially now that I pay quite a bit less for the same policy with a new company. I'm saving a ton of money now which I hope will make up for the loss in medical bills over the next year or two.

GEICO is by far the most dishonest and unhelpful insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. I had two separate incidents that they refused to cover, and their excuses were nothing short of lies. Most shockingly, they told me I was “not eligible” for coverage after a deer hit—which is exactly the type of accident comprehensive coverage is supposed to handle. Instead of standing by their customers, they find loopholes, twist their wording, and leave you paying out of pocket when you need them most.

I paid my premiums faithfully, believing I’d be protected, but GEICO has proven they don’t care about their customers. They advertise affordability and reliability, but when it comes to actually backing up their promises, they vanish behind fine print and misleading explanations. If you value peace of mind, transparency, and actual support when accidents happen, stay far away from GEICO. They’ll gladly take your money every month, but the moment you need them, you’ll find out just how little your policy actually covers.

I have been a GEICO customer since 2014, insuring up to three cars with them over the years. On August 23, 2025, my auto policy was canceled after only a two-day lapse in payment. When I called to reinstate my coverage, I was told I would need to pay $777 upfront due to “limited payment options.” At the same time, I had already made a payment of $88.54 on August 25, which I thought would go toward reinstatement. Instead, I was told this only covered a backdated balance for August 4–23.

I followed up in writing, and the response I received from a representative, Owen K., was disappointing. The message was impersonal and dismissive, thanking me for my “loyalty” while denying any good-faith refund. To be clear: I paid for insurance that was not active, and GEICO refused to consider even a basic accommodation for a customer of more than 10 years. This is not how a company that values loyalty should operate. Two days late should not erase a decade of payments and trust. GEICO’s policies may protect their bottom line, but they do not protect their customers. After this experience, I have moved my coverage to another provider at nearly half the cost. I would strongly advise anyone considering GEICO to review their practices carefully.

Someone from Geico called me DAYS LATER, saying I never should have taken my car there, like I’m the one who’s supposed to know this crap. Geico refused over and over again to cover the repairs. Geico sucked at communicating this entire process. My claims adjuster was switched halfway through and nobody ever told me and TO THIS DAY, I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THE NEW ONE.

Geico took two weeks for an estimate for the last part of the repair (should have been included from the get go) and I finally told the shop just to fix it because I lost all hope that Geico would do anything. Only for them to finally update their estimate for slightly more coverage, don’t know where that money is supposed to go. I’ve already paid the shop. It’s been 6 weeks, 6 entire weeks without a car, and less than the bare minimum of communication from Geico. After all this BS, I still owe $600 out of pocket only because the shop felt bad and gave me a $200 discount. On top of that, my bill is now $130 more each month. Geico is absolute garbage. I signed up for a policy with Geico on 5/27/25 because they were cheaper than my current provider upon renewal. Paid and set up autopay (as I have with every insurance provider). Got a notification in the app a month later, as I had downloaded it for the Drive Easy discount, that it had been "unable to record" my drives and upped my premium automatically. Confused, I reached out to their online chat and they confirmed it was an error on their end and that they fixed it, this was on 6/28/25. Assuming I was good, as the associate confirmed she just changed the policy and nothing else, I went on my way and didn't think about it.

Flash forward to now, I've had to have surgery recently, bought a house, etc in the last few weeks so life has been very hectic and I haven't paid close attention to anything but those two things for a few weeks. When I went to look at my bank statements this month, I noticed I hadn't been charged my premium from Geico. Thought that was weird, confirmed with my bank first and didnt receive any payment attempt notification so I reached out to someone on the online chat again through Geico.

Spoke with someone who stated they had sent an email as well as a letter on the day that I spoke to the original representative (6/28/25) that I was being canceled for non-payment. I received no such communication and now have been lapsed for a month on car insurance, which has never ever happened to me before. My assumption was that the original rep that helped fix my policy with the drive easy issue had accidentally done something to mess up my autopay.

The rep insisted I was the one to blame, and that there was nothing I could do. I asked to speak with someone else, so he got me to his supervisor. She stated that yes there was an issue on 6/28/25, so I asked if there was a way to back date or at the very least report to the driving institution in my state (Missouri) that it was an administrative issue and it was not of my choice to lapse on coverage. She denied this, stating there was no way and in fact they DID reach out to me even though no letter or phone call was received and I have electronic documentation of no email either. I insisted she send me the documentation from their end as I intended to take it up legally, to which she ended the chat without providing any documentation. Long story short, Geico screwed me over and I would never ever recommend them to anyone.

Geico Review – Misleading Practices. I received an email from Geico encouraging me to come back because their rates had changed. I went through the process, got a quote, and was shown a huge discount—$494 less than my current policy. But the moment I reached the payment page, everything changed. The discount disappeared, and the “savings” I was promised were gone. When I chatted with a Geico agent to find out why, I was stunned by the response. I was told that whether or not an accident is your fault, it still counts against you. Their exact words: “The way claims are evaluated is based on statistics. When you have absolutely no claims on your prior record you can qualify for very preferred rates. That is why the application asks about incidents regardless of fault.”

Let that sink in—you are punished simply for being involved in an accident, even if you did nothing wrong. This is how the system is designed, and worse, it’s perfectly legal in this country. The U.S. allows insurance companies to treat consumers as statistics, not people. They use “risk models” as an excuse to inflate premiums and erase promised savings, all while hiding behind fine print. This isn’t just a Geico issue—it’s an industry practice built on greed, and our country enables it by letting insurers get away with it. The American Dream is supposed to be about fairness and opportunity, but instead, consumers are left paying the price for a system stacked against them.

Hard to find one thing they've told me that's true, not hollo wz or fully rotten...nearly killed by a DWI hit and run, I've missed several weeks of work, and I provided all information while they "did" their "investigation"... Insurance NEEDS to be broken up by congress, in some way... they're just one pig among a pack of them, but they're no better than that

I stuck with GEICO for 11 years. Never let my insurance lapse, always paid on time. What did I get for that? A bill for $734 a month for the bare minimum coverage in Massachusetts. Two thousand dollar collision deductible, no medical coverage, nothing extra. Finally I said screw it and got a quote from Progressive. Now I’m paying $300 a month, 59 percent less, and I’ve got way better coverage. My collision deductible is down to $500 with waiver. I have full medical/PIP. My comprehensive deductible is also down to $500. That’s $434 a month back in my pocket, more than $5,200 a year, for more protection. GEICO kept me stuck in some overpriced high-risk tier and never budged. Progressive treated me like a normal driver and stacked discounts. If you’ve been with GEICO forever, check around. You might find out they’ve been draining your wallet for years like they did to me.

I cancel them, rates double, moving to another state. They also take forever to pay you back from a cancel policy. Been over 4 business days to credit my credit card. I guess they trying milk me for more cash on my policy. I already have other new insurance.

For my very first time I have to get an SR-22. Over a week ago I was able to add it to my policy fairly easy. I have had to find transportation to and from work until I go to court. So for convenience I applied for an occupational license. I reach out to Geico yesterday via my app and the gentleman Nicholas was able to help retrieve the proper document since I was standing at the DMV and they stated Geico still hadn't sent the SR-22. After waiting an hour in line I show the counter lady my SR-22 email they sent for proof so I can get my license. She stated it was not filled out correctly by GEICO. I call to try to have them correct it and the insurance employee stated she can not help me with this, but she will submit it to another department which is where it needs to be corrected.

Over a week of frustration, three hours at the DMV, and Geico failed to even get the right documentation yet today 24 hours later. They stated it would be put on a 'rush' order. My parents have Progressive and I am going to reach out to them! If they provide me with a SR-22 Policy by the time I receive my email so I can get a license I am cancelling Geico and will make sure to spread the word.

I've been a customer for a long time, and I have accident forgiveness... but I backed into a rock at less than 5mph while in a rental vehicle at an unfamiliar location. This caused a small dent in the bumper and was less than my deductible to repair. Geico didn't pay a cent towards the repair, but Hertz decided to report it to them anyway so my premium went up by over $80. I called and spent 50 minutes playing phone tag trying to get someone who could help. They all sympathized, understood that this shouldn't be happening, but nothing could be done.

I cannot believe that not choosing to pay extra for the scam rental car insurance means that a tiny fender bender causes an over $800 increase in my premiums in a year. I'm driving a goddamned 12 year old sedan... This is insane and shouldn't be legal. I wish nothing but the worst to this malevolent, cancer on society. May every bit of shareholder value be eroded and may every executive be cuckolded by their partner... unless they're into that.

It takes entirely too long to get someone on the phone, I’ve paid over 9,000 on my car before anything ever happened to it. Now it’s like I have to wait until you guys determine if it’s under your policy to get my car fixed. Honestly GEICO can do better. Anytime my car is involved in an accident with another insurance claim it moves faster, I have rentals, I have etc. However my own insurance gives me the runaround. The same insurance I pay 800+ dollars to a month but what’s fair in life?? NOTHING. Not even the people you choose to have coverage with. Not even the people you pay every single month for years!!! I’ve gave you guys more money than a car is worth!! I understand you guys trying to understand what happened but regardless I PAY YOU! I KEEP YOU IN BUSINESS! My car should be priority no matter the case. Do better! Be better! My car should have a repair date by the end of the week!

I had a horrible experience. At the end of a 1 hour conversation with 4 agents, I could not get a quote for my commercial auto insurance. It is unbelievable how incompetent agents work there. It was like collecting your information to sell to someone else. Not reliable at all, they can't even give a quote, instead they pass you from one agent to another and test your patience level.

Claim Adjuster, Diego ** is terrible! Very unprofessional! Showed up more than 2 hours late for my estimate appointment, without even one phone call to notify me of him being so late. He was Nonapologetic and not receptive to my questions. Negative news travels much faster than anything positive. I have nothing positive to share about my experience. I gladly cancelled my policy. Diego ** has no patience and a serious lack of communication!

I’ve been a loyal GEICO customer for over 18 years, and I’ve never experienced service as poor as what I recently encountered. I had a home equity policy through Arrowhead and never received any notification about appliance coverage. Instead, the only letter I received was a cancellation notice — with no prior communication or explanation. When I contacted customer service, I was passed back and forth between GEICO and Arrowhead. No one took ownership of the issue, and no one was interested in actually helping. I was told to contact Arrowhead directly, even though my policy has always been through GEICO. This is unacceptable.

As a customer, I expect clear communication and accountability — not finger-pointing. The lack of support, especially after nearly two decades of loyalty, is deeply disappointing. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend GEICO to anyone for auto or home insurance. The customer service is among the worst I’ve dealt with.

I paid my bill on my due date and received my confirmation # saying thank you for your payment. However something told me to go check my insurance policy and when I did it was cancelled. It was cancelled on the same day I had made that payment was I still had time. My policy had said pay before are on the date so I did. However it was still cancelled before that date and a payment was made. Now I've been on hold for more than two hours, me calling from two different phones and been transferred more than 5 times.. Nothing has been resolved. It's been 3 HOURS now and they still trying to fix it. I've spoken to 7 people already. Everyone says I'll fix it one moment and transfer me again, HORRIBLE Company. QUICK to take our money

Geico has to be one of the worst insurance companies. They get you with the rate and then downplay your claim. It’s $50k to repair my boat. They come with $16k. Lol. What a joke, it’s the adjuster job to make the CEO richer. I get it but at least be fair and they are far from that, then they send you through the ringer as if my bank account, phone records and who I was with and where I was plays a part. I’m starting to see Geico be scamming people. They must get some kinda bonus for not paying claims. Not only that I haven’t spoken to anyone with a good attitude by far. These big insurance companies be out to rob people.
