My husband was backing out of a parking space at work. Barely moving when a woman driving up a one way in the wrong direction pulls up behind him and he bumps her. Literally bumps her. We had witnesses that she was driving the wrong way. She had no insurance and we had been with Geico for years. Geico ended up paying her almost $8,000 and almost tripling our premium. Geico is for the other driver not their customers. There is no way this woman should have been paid all this money for a bump. Will never use Geico again. Now they are sending letters demanding we pay $136 that they claim we owe. Not paying a penny. Joke of a company.

Big ripoff! Don't do it! They will quote you a good rate to suck you in then after years of being a loyal customer (no accidents, no claims), they will double your renewal rate. When asked why, their response was "your son (who hasn't been on your policy for the past 3 years) had gotten a speeding ticket 4 years ago"! And when you point out to them he hasn't been on your policy for the past 3 years they will tell you it doesn't matter.

I have been with Geico for over 4 years. I was in a auto accident that was not my fault. Problems started with the adjuster who gave me a lowball payout saying I had previous damage to vehicle. Asked him if he read the record because then he would know that he made a mistake. Took him several days to review the file. It took him so long to finally give me a legitimate payoff amount, I no longer had a car rental. Keep in mind, I had the rental for 10 days.
Now that I did agree to the amount that Geico was going to pay me, now I am being lied to by the claims department about actually receiving this money. I tried to get the money direct deposited but naturally their automated system did not recognize my bank's information, so this system decided to send me a check that would take 7-10 business days. I called and after days of trying, I spoke to a supervisor. She told me that she would send me a check overnight, (but she would cancel the other check), through UPS and that I would receive a email with tracking that it was sent. She has not sent me anything and in fact, I phoned her again, left a voicemail and naturally she would not even return my phone call. So basically I have a check that I should receive in 7-10 business days, (that has been cancelled), and I still have no idea when I will even receive my check.
While I am waiting to finally get my payout, I am forced to use Lyft or Uber for rides to and from any appointments. I have already paid my insurance 6 months in advance, don't even have a car that is insured and they have not even credited me for the days I have already paid for insurance. When I finally get my payout and can get another vehicle, I think it is time to go to another insurance company. Geico can just refund me the money I already paid for insurance and I will go to a insurance company that will actually tell me the truth and put me as a customer as a priority. Geico sounds great until you have to file a claim and then everyone just lies to the customer. If you are considering Geico, reconsider. If you are already with Geico, maybe you should shop around. Prime example that cheaper is not always better.

I got into an accident on 1/24/2023 and my vehicle was fixed on 03/24/2023. I was told I was not at fault as the driver had hit me. During this time, I had gotten a rental for two months and had been informed to save the receipts and provide them to GEICO so that I can get reimbursed. I sent multiple messages on my claims page requesting a timeline for the reimbursement but got no response. When I called in June, I was told that my insurance, State farm, and GEICO, were in arbitration and that upon its conclusion I would get my reimbursement. However, when arbitration concluded in July (I received my deductible back on 07/26/2023), I still did not receive any reimbursement.
I called today, 09/11/2023, and had been informed that somehow the claims team had "not received any requests from my insurance in regards to rental reimbursement" and therefore had not been aware of it. I believe this is bad faith as they not only had my uploaded documents 6 months ago but that I had sent them two messages as well as two phone calls inquiring about this. I simply would like GEICO to be informed of their bad faith practice and to reimburse me without delay.

Keeps increasing rate even if you call to discuss, they do not care about you as a customer. Charges a cancellation fee if you end up having to change your service due to their fees. DO NOT USE. Will sound good at first and they *used to be a good company* but no longer! They just want your money and will get it however possible. I was a customer for 12 years and will never go back and will tell everyone else to stay away too. No accidents, no claims in those 12 years either.

Incorrect information filed by GEICO. I have had an auto insurance policy with GEICO for many years and I am filing a complaint against GEICO auto insurance claims division (see details below). Due to GEICO Auto Insurance having raised my cost for renewal of my current auto insurance policy, I recently decided to shop around for pricing for an auto insurance policy through different auto insurance companies. After reviewing a few quotes from other auto insurance companies, I have decided to move forward with a auto insurance quote that was provided to me from Progressive Direct Auto.
In doing so after answering all questions that the Progressive agent has asked me, the agent said asked if I have had any recent claims with GEICO, my answer was no, and he asked permission to run a claim report and my reply was that I had no past claims and yes, I give you permission to run the requested report. After a moment or two the agent notified me that GEICO reported that I submitted a Glass Breakage Claim on Jan 25, 2023 for my 2016 Chrysler Town & Country. I immediately told the agent that I did not file a claim and was only inquiring about what is covered under my comprehensive glass policy through GEICO as I recently moved from Connecticut to Florida and had questions.
The Progressive agent then told me that they could not honor the previous quote that I received and unfortunately the new quote would cost me $346.00 more per year. The agent then told me that I can dispute the said claim report with LexisNexis or have GEICO send me a what is called "Letter of Experience" from GEICO. So, I contacted GEICO and explained what was going on and requested a "Letter of Experience".
After spending two plus hours talking to multiple people at GEICO glass claims department, they sent me the so-called requested "Letter of Experience" but the letter still stated that I made a claim, my reply once again was "No I had an inquiry about coverage and in addition there was no claim paid to me." The agent said that there was no dollar figure next to the so-called claim stated on this record. The GEICO representative also stated in order to answer my question about glass coverage they needed to open a claim ticket to answer my question, I then stated and said, "Wow, why so?" Their reply was that this is how their system works.
I then asked if they could please send me a revised letter stating that there was indeed no claim paid to me and this was simply an inquiry from me. GEICO did send a second letter to me but basically it said the same thing that a claim was filed, so here I am paying a higher rate for auto insurance because GEICO said it’s an automated system and we cannot delete this report. I am adamant and believe that this is an unjust statement to insurance consumers and is also highly falsified due to GEICOs inability to correct this problem due to said systems not being able to correct their mistake.

Have had GEICO for auto insurance for over 10 years and a few months ago my wife had an accident.... 1st accident she has ever had in her entire life (over 70 years old). Geico jumped and claimed responsibility of accident with NO contact to us at all except when they sent the SURCHARGE bill estimate that was going to be coming. Now you may want to sit down for this. The damage to our car was replacing the entire nose of the car for $788.00 and then the damage Geico assessed to the other car was for $2130.00.
And now the charges.... We were paying $95 a month and the surcharge bill coming this month will be $238.00 per month and this will be for the next 5 to 7 years so at 5 years that's a whopping profit to Geico of around $8,580.00 for a minor scrape on the side of the other car. My advise to all stay the heck away from GEICO. They will rip you off as soon as they can legally. I only wish I could add photos of the other car.... What a joke.

I had GEICO insurance for over 40 years. No claims, a handful of minor tickets. My wife of about 10 years failed to renew her DL on time because of covid restrictions at the DMV. When she was stopped (routine stop on a road, not for any moving violation) she had an expired license. GEICO canceled my insurance - not just the insurance on her car but also on mine. I contacted them and they could only say that since we are married we are considered together "as a risk." Neither of us have ever made a claim or been subject to arrest (such as DUI, DWI...) or had a serious moving violation. GEICO says no recourse, nobody I can speak with. Ironic because I'm exactly the kind of incident-free drive they should be looking for. BEWARE.

I've been with GEICO for 8 years. In April 2022, as I slowly drove into a carwash, the track grabbed my car and pulled out forward. I was going about 2 mph. I bumped the back of the next car. When I came out the driver was waiting and said I had hurt her car (a lie). There was a tiny tiny scratch that had rust in it, so it wasn't fresh. I reported it to Geico, along with photos and the phone number of the carwash manager, who saw the whole thing. Geico NEVER called the manager, and raised my rates. They have it down as a rear-ending. My car was barely moving at all, and I only had the "accident" because the track of the carwash grabbed my tires and propelled me forward. So now I have a collision on my report even though it wasn't my fault. I have asked to cancel the claim (I only opened it because the scam artist in the other car was claiming damage, and I wanted to have my photos on file).

I used to love Geico. Sadly, I have paid them for auto insurance for 30 years. I will be leaving soon. In my area many repair and auto body shops won't work with Geico. They will work with Progressive and State Farm but not Geico. I had 2 minor issues that exploded into major issues because of Geico's incompetence. Problem #1. I had a minor fender issue from a deer that resulted in sub par work from professional con artists. Geico recommended the shop. Literally professional con artists. They stole a lot of money from Geico so now they are under investigation. Now I can't get my crappy work easily fixed as auto body shops don't want to fix someone else's shabby work. And it seems like the shop did some additional damage.
Problem #2. I pay for roadside assistance. They sent someone who had never jumped a car and they caused a reverse polarity in the car. It took 4 weeks for the shop to fix the electric and it was all due to Geico's insanity. They kept changing adjusters, reevaluating, etc. It was nuts and I had to make 25 calls to get this finished. Only con artists, incompetent or desperate service providers will work with Geico. The competent technicians stay away from Geico. So BE CAREFUL!! I regret having such a long history with this company as they have spiraled down into a chaotic and criminal mess.

I've had Geico before and had considered going back with the company. But I just received a email going over the quote I received, and its higher rate was based on them checking my credit score. First off, it's not my insurance's business for what my credit score is because ultimately it has no impact on how I pay my bills. I think it's a backwards policy to get screwed over once again by a business conglomerate. Second as most of us know. Every time someone does an inquiry it dings our credit scores by 3-5 points every time. So either way it doesn't help.
I think the best policies and ideas are to actually cover what we as consumers pay for and not get screwed over cause the company doesn't want to pay out. Even worse is the fact is the moment that we report something they raise the rates. I live in a state where collectively there are many tickets and accidents...yet it's not something I do. Yet my rate is getting raised an extra fifty bucks because of the other drivers in my state. Where is the logic. One person screws up or is in a accident due to someone else and I personally have to pay for it. I don't understand anymore. But I wanted to get this out because frankly if it wasn't a law to have insurance...I wouldn't have it. But funny enough I have a different company.

I was a Geico auto policyholder for 15 years. Just recently out of nowhere my premium went up $60 dollars. I called to find out what was the cause and the representative told me everyone was affected by the increase due to inflation. My brother's policy renewed and he by some miraculous reason wasn’t affected. Afterwards I checked the site to see if I qualified for any discounts and one that was available pertained to taking a driving course, which I had done about a month before checking Geico site. Everything went through, the new discount was applied and was even verified by a customer service representative. Well the joke was on me, because when I received my new bill there was no discount applied.
I called Geico back to find out what happened and was told “they were experiencing technical difficulties and that discount was removed due to that reason”. I’m done with Geico. I’ve never had a problem with Geico until 2023. Prior to 2023 everything was fine with the exception of a few hiccups here and there but nothing to this magnitude. I have been paying around $900-1050 per the six month period for the last 3 years. Whenever I get my bill, I pay in full. The last bill I got was 02/15/2023. It was for $1,086 for the six month period. I got an automated email from GEICO for the upcoming renewal at 08/15/2023. It was for $5,286. I called the customer service and ask to revise due to something must be obviously wrong. After a phone conversation, they can't tell me anything that has changed under the policy: Same cars, same drivers, no accidents, no tickets, no coverage change, NOTHING. They increase my premium 500% without any explanation, after being a loyal customer (under auto, renters, homeowners, specialty policy) for 10 years, paying in full at all times.
I asked them to give me an explanation, and their answer is that they have changed their evaluation in the state of NJ. I have already changed to a different company (Plymouth Rock) and the premium I got is $1,106. I am appalled and disgusted by GEICO... Horrible customer retention. I normally wouldn't care. What I find appalling is they don't appreciate their customers... I hate what corporate America has become.

I really had no complaints with GEICO before a few days ago. I recently purchased a motorcycle and got insurance through GEICO. So the night after I purchased my policy I was reviewing my Auto policy on the app. I noticed that one of my vehicles usage had been set to 15,000 miles per year. I didn’t know how this happened, because I had it set to 5-6000 before that. You may, or may not, know that setting the mileage to what you actually drive can lower your policy. We have put only 30,000 miles on this vehicle in the 6 years we have owned it, so it being set to 15,000 a year is a big problem.
That night I decided to use the chat inside the app to speak with someone so I could get it cleared up. The person on the chat couldn’t help me and said I would need to speak to a supervisor the next day. All I wanted to know is when it was changed (because I didn’t do it) and I would like reimbursed from the date that is was changed.
So the next day when I come home from work I give GEICO a call. I speak to someone on the phone about it. He tried to say that I was not overcharged, but the guy on the chat told me exactly how much my policy would go down per month if I changed it to my true mileage. It was around 15 dollars a month extra I was paying per month because of this change. So, the guy on the phone said that it has been changed when I moved(less than 2 miles down the road)… way back in 2019. Apparently when you change address it will default your mileage to 15,000.
I was very upset at this point because I had found out I was being overcharged for 4 years. And to make things worse - you cannot change the mileage in app and they wanted me to fill out a mileage form and send it to them. So, it is really convenient that they can default my mileage to 3 times what I had listed, without a mileage form, but when you want to change it back you have to jump through hoops. I tell the person on the phone that I will not be filling out a mileage form until I get a reimbursement for the 4 years I had been overpaying. That was above his pay grade, so I ask to speak to a supervisor, and says that he will have one call me in 30 minutes. I wait, expecting a call, and do not receive it.
The next day I decide to give them a call again and ask to speak to a supervisor. I let the supervisor know that I was not going to be filling out a mileage form, because if I didn’t get reimbursed for what I had been overpaying, that I would be leaving GEICO that night. She said because it wasn’t a change they had made that they couldn’t do anything. Now, this is something I didn’t change either. It defaulted to a different mileage when I moved. I got no prompt asking if the mileage would be changed or anything.
So that night I got a quote from a competitor insurance and left GEICO. I I had been with them 10 years (since I started driving). I canceled my home owners, auto, and motorcycle insurance all at once. I never made a claim the whole time I had GEICO as well, so everything they made off me was profit. I will not ever recommend GEICO to anyone. They know exactly what they are doing with defaulting mileage when you move. I’m sure a lot more people are overpaying and don’t even realize it.

The next thing I knew I got a cancellation dated one month ago. I called them immediately to fix this and they told me that the rep documented that I had requested that date. She responded back it was due to the medical claims. I still told her we'll be canceling because like everything else going up, this isn't an increase we can take on. I thought that was the end of it, but she failed to cancel our policy and kept it going after renewal and now Geico is coming after us for the premium. My vehicle was stolen in Dec. of 2019, and I was offered compensation for my stolen vehicle, and Geico requested that I transfer my vehicle title to them before sending the payment. After I transferred the title, they claimed their investigation was pending. They continued to claim their investigation was pending until they finally LIED and claimed I sold the thief my vehicle. I had never met, heard of, nor spoken with the thief of my vehicle prior to finding out the lie that was told on me.
As I was traveling back into the U.S.A., I was arrested for the false accusation, and granted bail. I immediately made bail, as the lies that Geico, and the thief told were shown to me. I IMMEDIATELY provided proof of the false accusations, as my airline company showed proof that I was not located in the state the thief claimed I sold him the stolen vehicle in. I also showed other forms of proof of GEICO's FALSE ACCUSATION / DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER placed on me. Even though I was arrested and posted bail, THE SAME warrant is still out for my arrest.
I've sent went to the courthouse, and was not threatened to be arrested. This is the shortened version of the RACIAL HATE, DISCRIMINATION, and FALSE ACCUSATIONS from GEICO. Yes I am colored man who has NEVER been to prison. I am a known business owner, and community philanthropist who has NEVER done anything as stupid as Geico claimed I did. GEICO is the WORST insurance company to work with.
