Overall I am happy. Sometimes it takes a little longer than expected for a claim, but customer service is what makes it shine. I have always had my requests responded to and never an issues. They were prompt, friendly and overall good. The coverage itself is good too and cost is comparable to others, if not a little cheaper.

Geico is an amazing car insurance company. They work with you and will provide the best service to you. I was in a car accident where someone hit me from back and totaled my SUV. Geico gave me the best deal there was and cut me a check within a month. They even helped me with renting another car because I was hit from back, it was considered a no fault on my part so my insurance rate did not go up and when I got another car. I decided to have my fiance included in my policy and they didn't give me a hard time at all. They not only added him to the insurance policy but they also added his name on the actual insurance card. They are a wonderful company to have and they work with you to make sure all your needs are taken care of. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for car insurance.

When I talk to a representative, they are usually helpful. Also, when I make the phone call, I am never put on hold for a very long duration. When I talk to someone, my questions are answered. Also, my coverage is also good. It makes me feel relaxed because I know I have coverage in case anything bad happens. It is reassuring.

Geico is quite frankly number one. Just last year while driving home from a final exam. I was in an accident due to feeling exhausted from little sleep. All I had to do was exchange insurance information and call Geico. Within 20 minutes, they had someone out to collect my car while I was taken to the hospital. By the time I got out of the hospital which was 4 days later, my car was repaired. My premiums didn't increase at all because I was founded to be not at fault. I am so grateful for their investigation practices to absolve me of any fault.

GEICO certainly pays a great deal of attention to advertising and marketing, which is sometimes quite clever and memorable. Unfortunately, their service and value is mediocre to average at best.

I took on Geico about fifteen years ago when State Farm rates were too high. The rates have always been fair and I have never seen car insurance as a great expense when using them. When I have done a call or online chat, my questions and issues are resolved quickly and accurately. I have heard from others horror stories about their coverage after an accident, but I have been lucky enough to have not been in an accident under them, and used a car rental policy once. Any experience that I have had with them is good and I will continue to use them in the future.

The folks at GEICO have been good to me. Several years ago they were the only auto insurer to offer coverage after I lost insurance while out of the country. Now, as I move to a new home in another state, they have been very efficient about setting coverage in both states. The only time I had to deal with them for a claim they were quite helpful in coordinating efforts with the other companies involved. Talented phone agents and good coverage at a decent price makes me happy.

The fact that they were giving that to me made me feel proud and safe. It made me feel like they cared about me as a person and were concerned about my safety. For many years, I had GEICO car insurance. Because of a security measure at my bank to prevent identity theft, my account numbers were changed and I forgot to change my direct deposit information with GEICO. That month, GEICO couldn't withdraw the money from my account and promptly terminated my insurance. I didn't know it was terminated at the time. A few days after it was terminated, I got into an accident and my car was totaled. I contacted GEICO and found out about the problem. I then tried to reinstate the insurance since I was with them for so many years, but GEICO was happy to deny coverage for that claim. I feel like any service that cared about their customers would have seen how long I was a customer and realized how the unfortunate payment situation happened and covered my accident. GEICO seems to do everything it can to get out of paying out after you've spent so many years paying in.

Geico's insured ran a red light on the highway and tipped over my 7 ton RV conversion with a minivan, doing 16 thousand (plus) dollars worth of damage, according to the body shop it was taken to post-collision. After giving me the runaround for six months, passing my claim between no less than five claims officers - none of whom apparently bothered to make themselves familiar with the incident - their phony "inspector" claims their insured did only "58.00" in damage. Due to the times I park my vehicle, this inspector COULD ONLY HAVE PERFORMED HIS "INSPECTION" IN THE DARK! His "report" makes zero reference to the MASSIVE damage to the shell of my vehicle - damage which is ITEMIZED in the body shop's estimate.

Their insured did well-documented damage. They destroyed the value of a vehicle which will cost me around 17.5k to replace. I presented them with the facts and they simply ignored them - then threw out a figure so low as to add insult to injury. This is not insurance. This is RACKETEERING. Why does "Geico" still exist?Read these horrible reviews. How long will they be allowed to practice fraud on the American public?

Geico has been great car insurance. It was one of the easiest to get a quote from and the easiest to tailor the coverage to what I was looking for. In terms of the coverage, it's been solid. I've had two instances where I had to report a problem (accidents that weren't my fault) to them. While I can't say it's the fastest process in the world, they are thorough and it works out in the end. For instance, the accidents weren't my fault, so it took some time, but even after making sure everything was fixed and paid for, the deductible I paid was eventually refunded. That didn't happen with previous coverage I had. So all in all, I'd highly recommend Geico, it doesn't have a personal touch, but that's about all it's lacking.

It's easy to manage your account through the website without ever even speaking to a representative. The one month I was behind due to payments I expected not coming through, it was easy to go to the website and postpone my automatic monthly payment for a few days. You can do this once per policy term. I found this very helpful and was surprised and relieved at how easy it was to do. My rates are good, although my policy fees do go up a bit each year. But, this is probably to be expected, though it is a bit annoying. Overall I think they are great.

Not that long ago, my family and I were in an accident in a Dairy Queen parking lot. Someone who wasn't paying attention backed up into us while we were leaving the parking lot. He hit our bumper and caused enough damage to need repairs. But we were still able to drive back home. When we contacted GEICO, we gave them the details and everything that happened. They processed our claim right away. It was within a few days. Our car was fixed within the week. So we didn't even have to get a rental car. Which was great. So the whole process was easy and simple. It almost made everything back to the way it was before the accident. Except the memory and how everyone felt after it happened. But they did a great job and made the whole process as painless as possible. We tried Geico and were insured with them for 3 years. Each and every 6 months they raised our rates about $50. Each time we called we were told that unfortunately we must assume the risk for all other drivers accidents and bad driving habits. I have never had ONE accident in my life or ONE ticket and am 66 years old. My husband has the same good driver record. This last time we got our renewal they raised the premium to be $86 more each month and again we got the same song and dance. We also learned through some research that Geico had put us in a "high risk grouping" which allowed them to charge more. When confronted about this they had no explanation other than---you guessed it--they told us we needed to assume the risk for all other bad drivers on the road and their accidents.

As an aside they explained to us that with the newer cars the costs to repair have skyrocketed and all customers must assume the coverage of these costs as well. We finally understood we were being scammed and switched to another company who gave us exactly the same coverage in every area with exactly the same on/off periods for payments and all for $100 less per month!!!

I was trying to turn left in an intersection at the moment the green arrow turned yellow. I slowed down a little as there were pedestrians crossing the intersection, when a lady from the opposite side, from rest, hit the gas pedal and hit my rear bumper, apparently a deliberate action to compensate for her already damaged car. A driver who saw everything, voluntarily stopped and gave me his name and phone as everyone saw it was a scam.

After filing a claim with GEICO, and without even contacting the witness, GEICO came to the conclusion that this is a 50/50 liability, as I shouldn't be in the intersection when the light turns green for the other vehicles. That's a reasoning of a 5 year old kid. Well, not for GEICO. A left turn is a left turn, no matter what. While still in dispute, and with a clean driving record (no tickets or violations since I got my license 22 years ago) they raised the premium by $600. Well, they just lost a customer. I went to purchase a renter's insurance plan on their website and when it came time to check out, I entered in my credit card information and got a kickback saying there was an issue processing my payment. I thought something may have been wrong with my card so I used another card and got the same issue. I then realized that I was actually charged both times and never received an actual policy.

Through several days of phone calls and a lot of frustration, I learned that they were having this issue with many other customers as well. I kept being told to call back and was promised that I would be refunded in less than 10 business days, but here I am several weeks later with no refund. I had several people tell me they were going to call me back throughout this process, but I haven't had anyone reach out to contact me. This has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and by far the worst experience I have had with any company EVER. This is true robbery.

I called to see why and they said 2 reasons. The accident rate increased in my state and because I had an accident in April. They claimed to have called me on the phone in April and claimed I admitted to being at fault. A complete lie. I have a dashcam and had footage to prove I wasn't at fault. I asked them to provide the recorded call and they ignored my request. And on top of this lie they just raise the rate without any notification. Clearly they are just trying to slide these rate increases by the people on autopay. Shady, shady, shady. I am calling around for new insurance. They just lost me for car, camper, boat and home. Perhaps Geico used to be a company that treated its customers well, but certainly not anymore. I have had a mostly spotless driving record for 16 years. After a minor incident in which I hit someone's bumper and a small claim was paid by Geico to the other driver, Geico raised my insurance premiums from about $900 every six months to $1900 every six months. That's $3,800 per year for one person's insurance fees. I had been a loyal Geico customer for six years. I switched to another of the major car insurance providers and got a much, much better deal. If you bundle your homeowners/renters with another major insurance provider, you can also get a discount. I cancelled both my homeowners and auto insurance with Geico yesterday -- it felt great!!

We committed and paid the first premium. 7 days later, on a Friday, I canceled my old policy and then out of the blue we get an email at 7:30 pm that same day they need to speak with us right away. We called and they tell us that after "further investigation" from underwriting that they are reducing our 250/500 coverage to 100/300 and raising my monthly premium by $1000.00!! Granted our driving records were not perfect but they had all that information the day we called for our quote. Our previous agent warned of this "bait & switch" tactic and she was right! Fortunately we were able to get our previous policy reinstated but Geico was only too happy to keep half our original premium payment. Years 4-6 my policy had nearly doubled, I called and after nearly an hour on the phone they cut my 6 month premium nearly in half. Years 6-8 were okay I moved within this time and my premium went up 150 per 6 month period due to location of new zip code. Years 8-10 they slowly increased a little every 6 months. Years 10-12 my 6 month premium has once again doubled. I will be signing with State Farm as they are now cheaper than Geico. I had an auto policy covering 3 vehicles. My daughter had an issue with DMV where they threatened to cancel her driving license if she did not pay the fine. She paid the fine and received a letter from DMV stating the issue was resolved. This was approximately 2 months prior. Geico stated they sent a letter to my address stating if they did not receive information in 10 days they would cancel the policy. Well this notice, if we received it, must have been filed with all of the other junk mail we receive. In any case the date passed and Geico cancelled not only my daughter's insurance, but all policies for our three vehicles, without any additional notifications (which they confirmed on the phone). I was without insurance for 11 days before I received a letter from the DMV. The DMV in SC charges a $5 per day for each vehicle without insurance from the date of non-insurance (totaling $165).

I requested a letter from Geico stating the fact that I only received a single notification before policy was cancelled, and they did not send any further notification that my policy was cancelled, so I can use this convince the DMV that I should not be charged the penalty. This is the worst policy I have ever heard!!! Even if they sent me a letter stating they were going to cancel my insurance, they should have notified me when they actually cancelled the policy. This should be the Law!!! It took three calls and more than an one hour of my time before I could get a manager.

Geico's customer service rep and manager refused to send a letter or email stating the facts. In addition, after renewing my policy (so I would have coverage over the weekend) Geico stated my policy rate was going up $50/mo. Total of $300/per 6 mo policy. The Geico rep and manager refused to give me my prior rate. Needless to say I am cancelling all of my policies, and will never use Geico again for any purpose. I have TWO incidents to report. The first one takes place after having my car in storage and picking the car up after flying back to town. The car is not even warmed when a police car comes plummeting down a quiet street at about 11:30 at night. I slow down that police passes me by. I approach the intersection in the turning lane on the left of a 4 lane street. The cop car in the far RIGHT lane gets creative and as the car in front of me has stopped, there's no car behind me, the cop Rams his car between me and the stopped car to make an illegal u-turn. Then he continues to go. I then go after him cause I'm trying to figure out why he has not stopped. He sees me and pulls over but will not talk to me or provide his ID. I call Geico and the person on the other line gets my info and is very sympathetic.

Next day I'm told after many questions that it is not my fault cop committed several code violations and not to worry. I proceed the following days to expedite claim cause I'm only here for the week and have too much to do. The next few days I get a call from the police dept that handles claims and she is expecting me to provide my damage and then I ask, "Hasn't Geico spoken to you?" and she says no.

I call Geico and they tell me that that they will go ahead and settle the claim with the police to make it easy on ME. I said did they threaten GEICO and she just as much told me yes. Needless to say, I'm driving around unable to collect and get my bumper replaced cause they would not make them responsible because my insurance let them manipulate the claim in the police favor--forget that they were at fault. (I had removed collision momentarily cause I was possibly selling my car this week on my return--now I can't).

I put full coverage back on my car cause it's damaged and I can't sell it to recoup what I can get... I'm coming back to town on a Monday a few months later. The person that is watching my car since I have been out of town calls me to say my car along with three others, my has been vandalized. It's Thursday before my return, I ask him did he make a police report, he says, "No you have to as the owner." He gets on the phone with me and we make a thorough report. I'm thinking GEICO will be satisfied cause I have a witness even though I'm out of town and it's a business.

I file the claim. They turn it over to an investigative unit. I'm thinking it must be because it was broken into--no it's because I put comprehensive coverage back on the car (which I thought was full coverage) and I did it two weeks before it was broken into. When I get this investigator she interrogates me like I was a felon, or something. Even makes the statement that if I'm caught lying about the breaking it's a felony---really? I'm going to lie about a vandalism. There are pictures and 2 other cars as well. Needless they asked for phone records. I gave them screenshots of text messaging when I checked on car and when I was sent photos of break-in. I sent the police report.

They are saying they need actual phone records -- my phone is part of a business so you cannot isolate and why put them through this nonsense when I have provided screenshots that's acceptable to JUDGE JUDY and all the other judges on TV. Then the investigator says, "well why did you get insurance two weeks before..." Duh... I wasn't covered... But why now and why before they broke in... That's why it's called insurance lady, just in case something happens. Did she check the call that said I asked for full coverage-- no. Did she notify me she close the investigation--no. Did my claim adjuster get back to me to say we are not doing anything further--no. Did I receive any compensation for the battery, window, the fixing of the others damaged inside the car---no. Silence from GEICO.

Called today, asked for the result. "Oh it was closed out last month from investigator." Asked two people about where it stands, "Well we have your adjuster get back to you. We don't know, it's in another level." Called these people supervisors and one says, "Well you did not provide what we asked AND you did not do what was necessary." So I asked, "What would you have done if someone is watching your car; it's vandalized and they call you and you are not in town..." "Uh, I don't know..." Exactly... You do the best you can, call the police with the guy on the other line to get the report. You can have Geico, I'm done.

First of all...who uses the freaking mail anymore? They were unable to send it via email for whatever reason and refused to tell me why I couldn’t do it online like EVERYONE else! Fine, weeks later no mail.

Called Geico again, again told same thing that they would send an application out. Finally received app in mail, filled it out, mailed it back, and nothing!!! I was told by “customer service” that it would take underwriting 2-3 weeks, however, I received no communication at all. Now after being given the “runaround” from the call centers I am being told that there is an issue with my application, oh and they have to guess what? Mail out a new application. How freaking ridiculous! It is exhausting dealing with people who are “unable” to discuss things with their other departments.

The right hand doesn’t ever know what the left hand is doing. In addition to this, they do whatever they can to get you off the phone and kick the problem down the road. After this experience I am extremely hesitant to give them any of my hard earned money. We have State Farm insurance. My wife and I were both, unfortunately, in separate parking lot accidents recently. Neither were significant amounts of damage, money and there were no injuries. Neither of the accidents were our fault either. In my instance, the other driver had State Farm insurance also. In my wife's accident, the other driver had Geico insurance.

Our experiences were very different. State Farm offered a generous list of approved body shops, including several dealerships that were able to appraise the damage, provide a rental car and fix my car in one stop. I took my car to the shop, dropped it off and drove off in a reasonable rental car and my car was fixed and I picked it up and it was a minimal inconvenience to me.

My wife called Geico and they told her that they had determined that their client was 100% responsible for the accident and they would be covering the claim. (So far, so good.) They then asked if she would like Geico to handle the claim or State Farm. My wife was (understandably) confused and asked what the difference would be? The Geico representative told her that we could file the claim with either company, but if we chose to use our insurance company, we would be responsible for the deductible and might not get a rental car depending on our policy!?!?

So we said that we would prefer to have Geico handle the claim since we didn't ask to be in this situation and the other person was at fault. We were then given a list of ONE body shop in Greenville (and the surrounding area) that Geico offers their "ARX" program where you can have your car appraised and fixed and have a rental car waiting for you - a shop that I have never heard of in the 20+ years I have been living here. It may very well be a good shop, but I haven't heard of it and there are no dealerships on their list. Heck, there is no one but that one shop. The other three "choices" were the same company in Spartanburg, Anderson and someone else I think, somewhere in North Carolina!

We went online to Geico's website to schedule an appointment to get an appraisal at the body shop where they have their adjuster, and found that it appears that the appraiser is only there on (some?) Fridays and they are booked already on most of them for quite some time. Or, at least it looks that way because there are no other appointments that are not grayed out on the calendar except a couple of Fridays. I remember when the adjuster came to you and appraised your car... and even State Farm's plan - which is very different, they don't use adjusters, they instead audit body shops and allow the body shop to do the appraisal if they are on their approved list - is much better for the customer as you don't have a separate adjuster meeting and since now they don't come to you.

We are now calling Geico to try and figure out how to schedule an appointment with an adjuster that fits into our schedule before Christmas while our car is damaged through no fault of our own because they are too cheap to offer more than one body shop in the entire Greenville Metropolitan Area and they don't have adjusters that come to you anymore and they are booked up because - well, they have only one body shop in the entire Greenville SC Metropolitan Area.

So, I hope the folks that are saving 15% (we did not find that to be the case when we wasted 15 minutes calling them some years ago to see) are ok with the fact that they are saving that money because their insurance company isn't going to provide them with good service if they need them. If this is how Geico works, it is no wonder they claim to offer lower rates - they do it at the expense of their customer's time, safety (driving around with a damaged vehicle waiting to get in to have the car appraised and repaired!) and convenience.

As you might imagine, I'm pretty disappointed in this. I was actually hopeful when we found out the person who hit us had Geico because I assumed it was a decent insurance company and we would not have to deal with any of this garbage. Instead, I'm finding that they are a bare-bones, low-budget, and uncaring insurance company that claims to have low prices, based on being cheap and not having options for repairs or convenience.

The reality is that most of us hope to never have to use our insurance companies and I suppose people are willing to save a little money and deal with a little more hassle in the (hopefully) rare instances when they do have to deal with the insurance company. But it is particularly annoying when someone who DOES have decent insurance is forced to deal with a bare-bones, low-budget insurance company like Geico because they are in an accident with a Geico insurance customer. The nice lady who hit my wife ended up with more damage than we did, and I can only imagine what they are dealing with right now too. Maybe their experience will send them looking for a better company in the future.

I can't say that State Farm has been PERFECT because they have increased rates over time and raised deductibles, but I CAN say that when you do have a claim, State Farm handles it far, far better than Geico has done so far with us. I would never even consider Geico now, based on this experience I will continue to enjoy their cute lizard - gecko commercials and grumble about how lousy their insurance is to anyone who will listen. But I won't ever be calling them to waste yet another 15 minutes of my time to see if they are cheaper than my current insurance company, because I don't care if they are cheaper - I would rather have good service than cheap service.

After an accident I had a dispute with another person who lied about what happened, we both have Geico, I was surprised there is a dispute, but facts and common sense were on my side, Geico adjusters though do not want to follow such a nonsense as a logic and facts check. Neither they will to put a little effort in investigation other than recording the statement and decide what benefits company more. I mean I had an experience with other insurance, but I tell you if I get in another accident with Geico insured driver, the only way I will talk to them is through my lawyer. So as you might guess after they falsely accused me on inattentive driving or something, and I spare the details, just believe me the story they followed with is just ridiculous, I had to pay a deductible for my car repairment. I followed with Geico recommended mechanic shop and that was a mistake number two.

Basically the shop included fender and bumper job on the invoice, however they just painted over the scratches and my fender is still visibly bent, I mean you can clearly see it from the front! I showed it to both mechanic shop employee and Geico representative and they both told me they can see the problem. Now guess if they decided to go ahead and fix it? No concerns were raised at all, and now I'll pay the full price for the real job to another shop. The result: my car is being repaired at my own expense, after an accident which was not my fault, the record of the accident is still going on my record and my premium is going up. I had much better experience with eSurance (they are also cheap the first year) and Progressive (expensive, but seem care). Do not use Geico, and if you are unlucky to have a car fix with them, do not follow their recommendation. They choose the shops which charge them less, it doesn't benefit you.

Very polite, intelligent, responsive. There are no long hold times, they know what they are talking about and they resolve issues on the spot. I've had a recent experience with a company that is often compared to Geico and I just want to say there is no comparison. Geico is head and shoulders a superior company to Progressive.

I renewed a policy with Geico Insurance. I agreed to this policy for six months. I called to set it up, and cancelled. I was not planning on signing again with them, as I had many issues with them. One of the frustrating issues is that they do no keep track of concerns & comments, from Me (The Customer). As it will again, this time around turn out to be, once again. Thinking everything was fine, after the end date of my policy... I was going through my bank records, one day, and I realized that they had been pulling a monthly payment again. So, I called to ask about it, and I was informed that my policy had been renewed. I was surprised... by it, because I they didn't get my consent to renew. I never agreed to renew it.

As I had said, I agreed, to the first six months, and that was gonna be it... as I was gonna find a new company to sign on with instead. They go around in circles about everything, after I explained it. And wouldn't refund anything. SO, I ended up disputing it with my bank. That was in July 2018, my policy ended in May 2018. Thinking everything was fine? Nope. I receive another bill, and they threatened that It would be sent to collections, if I didn't pay. Again, I called today (September 13, 2018) and spoke with a supervisor/manager named Gary. And still the same thing. They were not listening to me at all!!!

They kept going on about having no phone call FOR A CANCELLATION, AND no conversation or report recorded or noted!!! It is frustrating to me, because I called and made a cancellation & I called about my concerned and they had NO NOTES regarding any of it. I feel like they are holding me hostage about all the charges that I NEVER AGREED OR SIGNED ON FOR!!!

I told them, "Nevermind. No need claim report as it’s easy fix and I’ll fix on my own and no need claim on policy." They said no problem, but today was my policy renewal and premium went up for over $2k for 6 month on all my vehicles. Called them and told them I did not report a accident, just called to ask.

Car was sold couple months ago as I bought new vehicle. I never fixed the door as scratch was minor and sold as is. I never asked Geico to pay or something like that. Done with Geico, will not recommend them to anyone. Progressive and State Farm give me better rate than Geico was. Anyway, guys at claims department in Geico was not nice. So when I told them I’m done and would like to close my account with them start asking why and what happened and I explained again but they said it’s was done six months ago and nothing they can do.

After being hit by one of Geico's insured, I've been driving around with a damaged front fender and bumper for over a month because Geico is now not responding to either my calls or calls from my insurer, State Farm. They have had this type of experience from Geico before, according to them. We've sent photos and video, at their request, that pointed out their insured was clearly at fault and also lined up with the police officer's testimony. Now, Geico will neither speak to my State Farm representative (now she's a third party and they don't speak with third parties suddenly) nor will they pick up my frequent calls. I've now reached out to my local state representative to call the person in charge of my case and they are "familiar" with having to make these types of calls.

Geico is one of the worst insurance companies that you can have!!! Yes when you start your policy with them your monthly charges are low but 30 days later they are increasing it without you even knowing. I just started my policy in June of this year and when I started my policy with them I told them that I wanted all of the same coverages that I previously had with my old insurance provider which included collision!!! Welp guess what someone hit me the other day and when calling to get my car towed they tell me that I don’t have collision on my vehicle.

Now we all know as insurance carriers that that’s one of the main reasons of why you get insurance just in case you get Into an accident your vehicle is protected for repairs or it being totaled!!! I’m pissed what am I paying all of this money for and not be able to get my car fixed!!! Not only did they screw my that way but the lady that I got into the car accident with was wrong for going around another vehicle and my own insurance provider calls to tell me that I’m at fault. I called back and spoke with another claims specialist that believed that I wasn’t at fault and now they are going to investigate the matter more, but I hate them now I’m without a car because their employee didn’t add collision on my vehicle, and why they are trying to fight for their customers when they are telling them that they weren’t at fault in an accident.

Today I got a notice from GEICO that it is considered an at fault accident. 1) I was not making a claim. 2) It was rush hour in LA. I had no choice but to be going way below the limit. 3) Debris in the road and a flat tire is not an item that a policyholder of 33 years should receive a scare for. I called GEICO to get it fixed (I do not want an at fault claim on the record). Apparently, they must do this a lot since they already have a pre-approved "We made a mistake" letter.

I’ve been fairly happy with Geico for a dozen years or so, with both our cars being insured by them. Their rates were competitive and the service we received on two claims was acceptable (neither my fault). However, I should point out that on one the claims, they kept insisting that it’s my fault even though the police report said otherwise, and the other car’s insurer accepted responsibility. But it worked out OK in the end.

But my most recent disappointment occurred when we bought a new car, and I deleted the old car and added the new. Of course, the price increased, but we paid. Now the next billing cycle is pending, and I checked the details of the policy for the first time, and notice that they had added a “mechanical breakdown insurance” premium of $92 for six months. I’m furious - first, I never had such coverage, nor is it necessary on a brand new car that has full warranty. That did it, I am switching to another insurer that has my homeowners coverage, and whose rate for the exact same policy is about 24% lower.

2017 I was involved in an incident where a driver from behind nearly hit my car in the rear but neither car touched, the other driver lost control of his car and ran into the median. Geico did not defend me. They refused to even talk to me. They said it was my fault and paid the other party off. They refused to give me the police report, or the witness statements. I called them multiple times and asked to speak to a claims adjuster. They never let me talk to one and stonewalled my attempts to explain what happened. My insurance rates doubled. I called another insurance company and they told me that Geico was simply taking the path of least resistance and in the process would stain my record - dramatically & permanently raising my rates, thereby keeping me stuck with their insurance as they'd still be lower than anyone else.

They believed the path of least resistance for them was to simply pay the other party rather than fight for me (their client) for what was right. They paid $5K to the other party, and ruined my driving record. My increase in rates for a family of 5 easily covered the $5K they paid to the other party - and then some. Luckily the new insurance agent told me to dispute the "incident" (it was NOT an accident) with a company called LexisNexis. I did and the incident being my fault was reversed (as it should have been). From that my driving record was good and I could get reasonably priced insurance again - about what Geico had been charging before the incident. CONSUMER BEWARE - Geico will NOT represent you fairly in a dispute. They only care about their bottom line. You and your driving record are irrelevant. You as a customer are irrelevant to them - their only concern is your wallet. remember that and avoid them.

I recently cancelled my GEICO policy; my car got vandalized and me having full coverage insurance never would have thought that filing a claim would cause the extreme pain, bashing and accusations I was put through, and leave me feel completely sad, angry and so helpless. Yes, I understand my car is an older car and probably not worth fixing, but had I known now what I did not know before, I would have never filed a claim with GEICO. I would much have rather saved myself the pain, grief and the bashing I endured for simply using a service I was paying for.

I was asked to meet with a GEICO investigator at a Starbucks location, this is where in front of other customers, the GEICO investigator proceeded to ask me a series of questions which I know now, were pretty well thought out and planned questions about my personal life to use against me. I was caught very off guard and not knowing all my rights at the time and not knowing where all this was leading to. I proceeded to answer all of his questions about my personal life.

After this, the investigator very aggressively accused me of vandalizing the car myself in order to “screw GEICO” and as if that was not enough, he cursed me out and called me a "good con artist" among other insults that are too embarrassing to list publicly, and all of this while we sat at a Starbucks table, I was completely shocked and ridiculed, discriminated and bashed based on my income and disability status which he had previously and methodically drilled me on, I was crying and denying the accusations and yet he continued to use the personal answers I had given him at the start to further accuse me of doing this myself.

This is just a brief summary of what I was put through, the rest is too personal to discuss on a review. I have contacted GEICO to report this and left messages, and have not yet heard back from a supervisor, when I call back, I was told that this investigator is no longer allowed to contact me. As embarrassing as this is for me, I am posting this to caution people; if you are asked to meet with an investigator, please be prepared and use your judgement to not answer any personal questions which can then in turn be used completely against you to accuse, manipulate and ridicule you. I feel discriminated based on my income and disability status by GEICO and plan to take further action in reporting this type discrimination and treatment.

Anyway, my issue is the car rental. My appointment to get windshield replaced was on 8/23/18 but because when Geico talked to the auto body place they told Geico that the first available appointment was for 8/21/18. I brought Geico insurance for my car and added my home to their Homesite Insurance. In one year, the Mortgage Company complained to me that my home was under-insured. Next, Geico went up on my car insurance. I contacted a Broker and changed my insurance company. It was supposed to be switched by June 1, 2018. The mortgage company had already issued the renewal check to Homesite. My Broker and I contacted Homesite and informed them of the change. June 1, 2018 was the cut off date. They told me my check would be refunded to me and I would have to send the check back to escrow. That is the normal procedure so I waited for the check. Two weeks later I still had not received my check, so I called again. This time I was told that it could take up to 30 days to receive the check. I waited another two weeks and called back. They informed me that the check had been mailed on June 17th.

I still had not received the check and were in late July. At the end of July, I called back and they had no excuse, so they canceled the check that I never received and was never cashed and issued another check. On August 10th again they claimed the check had been mailed out to me already. One of their employees started to call me to let me know the status of the check and asking if I had received it. Again, I have not received the check. This morning 8/16/2018. I have called again. They put a supervisor on the phone. I explained that because of their delay. I had suffered damage because my Mortgage company increased my monthly mortgage payment because I had not received the check to put the money back in the escrow account. I requested to speak to the legal department. I was told that their legal department does not take phone calls and I was denied being transferred to them.

Next, I asked if there was a transcript of all the phone conversation relating to this incident. I was informed that yes, there is a transcript, but I am not entitled to a copy unless I serve them with a Subpoena. I specifically asked if I could FOIA the record since it is a part of their file on me. They told me that the only way I could get a copy is by subpoena. I have now waited two and a half months checking my mail daily to no avail. I am paying my new insurance company, and my mortgage payment has increased and will remain high until I can put the money back into the escrow account. Homesite is blaming the U.S. Postal Service for the delay. They are claiming that the first check that never arrived must be lost mail. They are claiming that the Postal Service is also responsible for the delay in receiving the second check. I will never do business with this company again. I will be talking to an attorney to examine my option to recover damages.

I'm so frustrated right now after being bent over by Geico that I don't even have the patience to write this review fully. Here's the gist of it: They increase your rates every year regardless of your driving history, location, age, etc. They try to pull you in with offered discounts, but they're usually just minuscule offers that you'll likely disqualify for anyway. If you read their FAQ, you'll see how many people are asking why their Premium increases. Read their answer, and you'll see that they justify their increase with a ton of vague factors that they'll absolutely refuse to explain further.

They'll make a mistake when changing your policy through a phone call. After they catch the mistake, they make YOU pay for it even though one of their own representatives were to blame. Geico does not offer better rates than other providers. They take full advantage of those who are required to pay for full-coverage insurance because of a leased vehicle. You're easy prey, and they know it. Some of the coverage you're required to pay for is redundant and, therefore, completely unjustified.

To give you my personal example with them (without violating their guidelines -- I'd like for this to be published even though I'm 99.9% sure it won't be) I have been insured for a new vehicle through Geico for 4 years now. In those 4 years, I've had no accidents (it says I'm a "Claim Customer" because I used them to repair damage to my windshield from a rock using Safelite. They were GREAT for that experience), am nearing age 30, no traffic violations, and have moved from a MAJOR metropolitan area to a small town in comparison. I have a white vehicle and have started using a FRONT and REAR dash cam that I informed Geico of in order to HOPEFULLY lower my premium.

None of that mattered. Geico has STILL increased my premium every year. Last year, they increased it by $10 (keep in mind, this is after I moved to more of a rural area with much less traffic). How is this justified? It's not, but they can claim those vague factors that are highlighted in that answer within the FAQ section. They aren't required to share their algorithms or guidelines for pricing premiums. They can do whatever they'd like and simply offer you that vague, justification which does not require a proper explanation through hard data. They KNOW that you'll likely renew your insurance through them when the time comes instead of shop around for a better quote. They know it's inconvenient to shop around. They increase your premium just enough to irritate you, but not so much that you'll drop everything and start hunting for better coverage. It's their business practice.

TLDR: Don't insure yourself through Geico. It isn't worth it. Take the time to shop around for the insurance you NEED (don't let them talk you into anything extra). Get what is required by law, or what is required by your lienholder. Don't let these snakes get fat off your hard-earned dollar. They're no different than any other insurance company. Shop around, don't rush into it. Read other's stories/reviews and decide what the norm seems to be. I'm sure Geico likely cherry-picks reviews, so I doubt anybody will see this, so maybe I'll post it on /r as well. Maybe it'll save someone else from this irritation. Oh, and the Customer Service rep I was trying to explain all these facts to has decided to stop responding to my messages after she increased my premium by almost 20%. I didn't intend for this to be so long when I started, but I think it's better I provided so much detail.

Here are the writing guidelines: "We want your review to get published so please do not: discuss things that are unrelated to the product, mention the specific price you paid for the product, include any personally identifying information, such as full names. If you have an issue for customer service, please e-mail us instead of writing it in a review."

I followed these guidelines and did NOT discuss anything that wasn't somehow related to the product/experience that is tied to Geico. I did NOT mention the specific price I paid for anything -- I merely mentioned the increase I had in one of my examples but did not mention the entire price. As a matter of fact, I described a premium increase using a percentage, but did not disclose the premium amount. I didn't include any personal information. While I did briefly mention my experience with customer service there at the end, it was not the basis for this review and, thus, does not disqualify me from making it.

Here's to hoping they honor their own guidelines and post my review! I probably just wasted a significant amount of my valuable time and did not change a thing, but hey, at least I'm trying to do a service for humanity instead of sitting by while they milk us our entire lives. PS I had tried putting $0 as the amount saved by switching to Geico on this review page, but they won't allow it with a message that says "Amount Saved by Switching to GEICO is too short." I'm not even kidding. Gonna try "1". PSS 1 doesn't work either. I'm just going to put 500. Know that this amount isn't valid for me, but they won't let me post otherwise.

We went to the Emergency Room of the local hospital, were examined/scanned, given pain killers and told to visit a chiropractor. We did go to a chiropractor who treated us for several months until the headaches, back/neck aches, stiffness and lack of mobility to turn our heads subsided.

While GEICO paid the small bill to put a new rear end panel on our Corvette, they adamantly refused to pay a penny to reimburse us for either the ER visit, or the chiropractor care. Has taken 2.5 months and still hasn't paid the check to the bank. One delay after another. I will never use, or recommend Geico to anyone.

I left Geico several years ago due to slow and sneaky rate increases. No explanations were given, just increases in premiums. I recently returned to them after shopping around to make sure I was receiving the best possible rates for my homeowners/auto insurance. They gave me a quote that was lower than other companies, so I decided to give them another chance... Well, BIG MISTAKE!! Upon reviewing my premium that is due later this month, I realized they had increased the rate 20%!! Once again, I have never used any of my auto or home insurance benefits! They said rate increases had occurred across the board due to the large amount of payouts this past year! Isn't that what insurance is for? And my question is why should I be punished for others' use of their insurance policy?

It did no damage to the other car and about $1800.00 to our car which we paid $1000.00 deductible, leaving Geico to pay the rest at just over $800.00. That's a difference of $2100.00. So we are paying $3100.00 for this fender bender. So much for having insurance with Geico... They didn't seem to care about trying to help with this at all.

This and that and we might find someone else. No reason for all this. I bought a new vehicle and switched insurance instead of sending the new insurance to company I was working for, they Geico just sent a cancellation letter on old vehicle. And it took 6 months to get paid again just because they do not know how to handle a customer account.

After finding nothing I was told I had to pay two deductibles because I got in a fender bender while my car was under investigation. I told them I didn’t want to drive my car because it had a broken headlight but they insisted that they couldn’t provide a rental till the investigation was over. So I not only got into a accident that cost me $1000 that I do not have and is why I have insurance but I got pulled over coming home from work at night for driving with one headlight. When trying to figure out what was taking so long no one could talk to me or give me answers.

Every phone call would go to voicemail or when I did speak with someone I was told to contact someone else for the answer which went back and forth. Not only am I disappointed with Geico but my auto body shop complains that the parts Geico approved are crap and because of that the paint job won’t look the same. Also they won’t order a Volvo rim and the aftermarket rim doesn’t match. I bought a nice Volvo and now it’s going to look in shambles! Thanks Geico. This has been by far the worst month of my life with unfortunate circumstances, and Geico has done nothing but make matters worse. The damage was due to a storm called (Harvey). When we knew we were going to file I called with “GEICO.” There was no problems with filing the claim. Upon checking about the claim I was told that “I had better hope this was not a fraudulent claim.” When asked why I then was told that “people like me file claims all the time.” I then was taken back by them and said, "Well I am not most people and it is a legitimate claim."

A day or two later I called back in to speak with a supervisor about this problem. Told her that what was said was very uncalled for along with unprofessional, demeaning, and there is no proof that I am one of those people. I proceeded to tell the supervisor that I not only wanted an apology from the girl but, I also thought she should be removed from talking with any customers with what she had said to me. I also talked with her about other problems we had with the company.

I concluded the conversation with the supervisor by giving them a time frame for the girl to call me. I also told them that if I did not get an apology from the girl that I would change companies. I am begging that nobody else ever has to go thru this with this company. Especially in a time of need. In canceling the policy they could not even get the day we wanted it cancelled right. This company does need to be investigated for a whole list of problems. The biggest is lying. Where to begin? Perhaps the mileage form first. I ride a bike to work most of the time due to the fact that I live within a mile of my place of employment. Geico jacked my rates back up and kept trying to get me to fax them a odometer reading from my car when no other insurance company has made me do this. The agents whom I spoke to on the phone were adamant that this was standard procedure but I have yet to run into anyone else who upholds this practice. I've been insured by Progressive, AAA and Farmers which I feel is a pretty decent cross section of agencies.

Value wise, they are garbage. They do 6 month terms often at the same cost that you could get insured by another agency for the same amount of money. When I brought this up to the agent on the phone she was rude and extremely condescending to me, questioning both my intelligence and my ability to verify that I had provided adequate information to my new agency (this was during the cancellation phone call).

Also, don't believe anything these grifters say for even a second. The original agent that I had spoken to claimed over the phone that I was paid through July for my insurance. When canceling, the agent on the phone then tried to coerce me into paying additional money, upwards of $250 dollars. When I questioned her about this, the same rude, condescending attitude was applied to me, attempting to make my concerns seem unimportant while at the same time subtly trying to make me feel stupid. Her attitude was like this for much of the phone call. Needless to say, Geico's customer service is awful. If you like getting overcharged for insurance, jumping through hoops, dealing with dishonest agents, having your intelligence insulted and having an all around awful customer service experience then Geico may be for you. I however value both my time and my money which are both better spent elsewhere. STAY AWAY.

I quickly activated a new card and went forward with payment just a short while after being notified. GEICO decided to penalize me for a lapse in payment, even though the expiring was not due to insufficient funds, but due to a simple oversight on my expiration date. An oversight from a loyal customer of 7 years (9 year now), who never before missed a payment.

My insurance went up around 25-30% a month. They told me their underwriters would look into readjusting the rate after 12 months. 12 months later they would not budge from the new price. I waited yet another year and still no adjustment. It's been well over two years now and every time I ask, they decline to adjust my rate. Finally, I surrendered and joined GEICO insurance and it has been nothing but incompetence and deception of lies thereafter. After having GEICO for one month I accidentally punctured my leather seat on the bottom cushion, and, to make matters worse, after requesting I receive a Bill of Sale to ensure no damages were done to my vehicle prior of purchasing the vehicle GEICO asked me to receive I backed up and hit the dealership's vehicle and scrapped the bottom of my car, as well as the dealership's vehicle and up to my surprise, the dealership didn't pursue any charges on my behalf.

I reported the incident anyhow. And I thought GEICO told me I had accident forgiveness and I did, but the company didn't honor that request which is fraudulent to falsely advertise something they don't live up to. Since then my vehicle insurance increased dramatically, and after two months GEICO insurance renewed my car insurance to justify the 80 percent price increase. I wasn't happy, so I called GEICO to cancel both claims -- the cut seat and the rear bumper incident -- only one was requested because I was told one agent had to speak to the dealer to ensure no charges would be filed and I did just that.

After calling the insurance agent back, nothing was done because the agent lied and said she would remove the incident and she didn't. I called and called and nothing but lies and lies. I got fed up and drop this inept, deceptive nightmare insurance company and I will tell anyone not to insurance nothing with GEICO because it is for people who are high-risk or with a lot of tickets!

So I recently started my policy with Geico at the end of May. I purchased full coverage (Comp + Coll + Liability) because I am financing my vehicle. Over the weekend, I had an unfortunate accident involving a deer. I called to make a claim, an adjuster came out the next day to inspect my car, and deemed it totaled. He told me that Geico would lend me a rental and pay for the current value of the car. About an hour later I received a call from a woman in the Claims Department named Christa. She informed that Geico canceled my comprehensive and collision coverage a week after my policy began. She said that I failed to use the "snapshot photo" on their website when my policy started. THAT WAS NEWS TO ME! I had no prior knowledge of this information. No emails, no phone calls, NOTHING. Just one very ambiguous letter about an inspection to my.

The letter had no mention of a "snapshot" photo. If it had, I would've taken the necessary steps to make sure that part of my coverage would remain active. I read the letter and thought they were referring to a DMV inspection. So I disregarded it (like the letter said to if my car was already inspected) thinking that it didn't apply to me. So I explained this to Christa over the phone and she basically told me that there is nothing they can do. I was so upset. At the time, I was at work, so I went home to go through all of my mail to see if I could find anything regarding a "snapshot" photo. I didn't find a single thing. I also went through all of my emails and voicemails and didn't find any record of this either.

Here are other things that I realized after that phone call: I never received a refund when they cancelled my coverage. I randomly received a credit of $6.97 after I spoke with Christa... Just randomly. Talk about shady. Geico never contacted my lender that they cancelled my coverage. It's their job to communicate that with them since I am financing the vehicle. I called back this morning and somehow was connected to Christa again. The moment I stated my name to her, she rudely cut me off and said, "How can I help you?" I asked to speak with her supervisor, and conveniently for them, he was away from his desk at the moment. I told her to put me into voicemail. It's been an hour and I still haven't received a phone call back. However, I will be calling them again very soon.

I am a legal secretary at a law firm, so I have a plethora of attorneys to choose from to take legal action. Their customer service is awful. And I refuse to pay out of pocket, when I've been under the impression that I have had full coverage since May. They need to do better. PLEASE, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT CHOOSE GEICO. They will lie to you and scam you for their own sake. Worst insurance company ever.

When asked about this the representative told me that I could look into other discounts and that the charge was because I had to pay for both policies... However, I had already removed my previous vehicle.

My car battery died one time and I started filling out the form online for roadside assistance. I did not end up filling the rest of the form out because after waiting for several minutes my car started up again. An hour later I got a call from Roadside asking where I was because they were there. I told them that I never filled the form out and not to mention that it took them that long to get to where I was. Meanwhile, the company that ended up coming was in my town. This is maybe a good company for someone that likes to get unexpected charged billed to them but other than that I have had 0 help in the past. I have told them that I was going to switch and instead of them assuring me that any problems that I had were going to be resolved, they encouraged me and told me that I just had to send them the new proof of insurance. I am usually not the one to write a review, however, due to my recent experience with Geico I felt it's better to inform public of my recent experience. I have been customer with Geico since 2007 and have been paying premium on time. My 6-month premium ranged anywhere from $450-500 depending on where I've moved around in the last decade. During the last year, my wife and I both had minor collision. The premium paid to the other party for my wife's collision was ~$1200 and for myself Geico had paid ~$2400. Based on this history, Geico changed my 6-month premium to $1300. I've called multiple times for an explanation as to why this was the case, but no explanation was provided and they said that's the best rate we can provide based on your recent history.

While I was expecting the raise in premium, but not to the extent of 2-3 fold increase every 6-month. To compare, I got quotes from other auto insurance. The best quote for the 6-month premium I received was $671 for the identical coverage (100/300/100 with 250 deductible). This is more reasonable given the recent collision history. The lesson learned here is that, Geico is your best friend until you are involved in an incident (no matter how big or small). There is no such thing as customer loyalty for being with one insurance company for longer period.
