They will find any way they can to ensure their "estimate" of the repairs on your car fall below your deductible so they are not liable for any damages that occur to your vehicle. They do NOT publish their rates or preferred providers for this reason. As it is I pay 150 dollars a month for insurance and now I'm saddled with a 2000 dollar repair bill that my collision insurance decided was a 500$ estimated repair, well below my 1000$ deductible. Keep in mind, even if I went to a second hand shop with a cheaper labor rate, they still wouldn't cover anything because THEIR estimate based upon THEIR unpublished labor and part estimates didn't add up to my deductible. The reality of the situation doesn't matter. Will not do business with them again.

Good Morning, Me and my family have been Geico for well over 15+ years. My mother and father name is Ethel & Isaac ** in Cheriton, VA. When I financed my vehicle I was fully covered and anytime there's a lien on the vehicle I made sure I was fully covered. I left you guys in 2017 and went to Allstate, and was solicited back to Geico because I miss your service. The same car from 2017 my Nissan Altima was re-insured by you guys.

I made it very clear I wanted full coverage like I've always had on my car. I called in 12/2018 to add a car I owned free and clear and specifically stated I wanted liability on the Crown Victoria and only full coverage on Nissan Altima. The rep assured me my policies is what I asked for, I called in 3-4 weeks ago and lowered my deductibles to $100 because a friend of mine was in a accident and their deductibles were too high.

Even then the rep confirmed I was fully covered. 3/30 I get into an accident, the rep advised I am fully comprehensive covered not including collision. I never was offered or knew collision was a separate insurance entity. I am very disappointed that no rep corrected me to assure my plan was what I wanted. My parents were shocked because they have comprehensive bumper to bumper (what I thought I had, this whole time). Now I'm stuck, my car impounded, I am carless and my bday was on Tuesday. I was hoping someone with empathy and understanding would help me, but I've had to chase down management because they wouldn't call me back.

It took 7 phone calls to get a REASON. They said I had 3 claims in 5 years and it put me in a bad risk category. I had two cars hit my rear end I never used them as I contacted the other insurance company who fixed my car. One claim was a no cost to them as my undercarriage was damaged in a parking lot from a REBAR STICKING OUT of the ground. I repaired the damage myself. So no cost to them. So how do they justify a 100 increase here? So I went to another insurance company that gave me a better price before their fictitious increase. And yet they send me a letter every month asking me to reapply. What nerve these people have.

I have had a Geico auto policy for several years, however, about last January (2019) I received a notice that I was going to be charged for my daughter being added to my policy. She is 17 and although has a license she does not drive our vehicles. I called Geico and explained this and was told that she would still be added. During this conversation the person on the phone gave the indication that this was a Florida state law. I told the representative I did not authorize her to be added to my policy nor did I authorize any additional charges.

I then began to look into the matter and found out that this is not a state law, therefore, I called Geico back to find out why I would have received this sort of indication when it isn't correct. I was told that my daughter was being added to the policy as a courtesy in case there was a reason she would need to drive the car. I explained the in my home we have a policy, "If you want to drive, get a job and earn the money to pay for insurance. If there is an emergency, call 911." I told the representative that I did not authorize her to be added to my policy nor did I authorize any additional charges.

I began shopping for a different insurance provider and after securing coverage I cancelled my Geico policy. I was told that there would be a charge for my daughter being added. I explained that I did not authorize that. I made this clear both in phone calls as well as by email. I further explained that at any point Geico could have chosen to cancel my policy since I would not purchase what they wanted me to, however, they did not cancel it, therefore, I assume that they are ok with my stipulation. I was told that, in essence they just ignored what I said and proceeded with adding charges to my policy. After some further questioning the Geico representative admitted that they would not want this done to them and that this was an unpopular policy that was being reviewed.

Here's my point, I am the customer. You may charge me for what I agree to purchase. If that is not acceptable then simply say that and we will part company and not do business, no harm, no foul. Here's the problem, I am now getting collection letters from Geico for a bill of about $75. I am wasting so much time dealing with this but am doing so on principle, including writing this review. My hope is to help a potential customer with information that won't be readily available from Geico. It's very sad that companies choose to operate in such a deceitful way.

Checking my emails this morning I was outraged that GEICO took it upon themselves, and without informing me, that they were raising my auto insurance rate by 30%! There was NO justification for this action, ie, no accidents on my part. I called GEICO and spoke to a specialist, Jennifer, who informed me that the increase was for their cost for doing business. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I am currently looking for a new insurance company.

Had a front-end collision at 45 mph in a unibody car (made to crumple/absorb impact and not hurt vehicle occupants). Turned in the claim- adjuster and body shop looked at car, came up with estimate and started work. Then a few days later, required another supplement for additional damage (grille and small body components not included with the other components ordered). Then another supplement for more damage that was missed (bent tie rod- how do you miss that?!?) and repair was delayed waiting for more parts.

After 3 1/2 weeks of waiting, got the car back and it looked great. But I noticed shake/vibration throughout car that was especially noticeable at higher speeds. I immediately looked under the car and noticed the K member for steering gear and motor mounts was damaged and splashguard was missing (more missed damage!). Took the car back and addressed complaints with vibration and K member, which the body shop HAD to have touched to reassemble front brace between radiator support and K member.

Geico had to come out and approve another supplement while fighting me on it the whole time. I paid out of pocket for the other front tire to be balanced (just in case) because Geico would not pay for it despite front end collision/car going off road into median and barrier. After another 1 1/2 weeks of repair/insurance games, got the car back. Still had a vibration and steering had a new issue: there was slack, indicating something wrong with steering column and/or steering gear. Immediately took the car to a suspension shop after test drive because body shop was not proving to be competent and found the bolt that holds steering column shaft to the steering gear was missing! This means in a short amount of time, the steering would disconnect and I would have 0 control of the car.

Suspension shop also found the carrier bearing was damaged on the drive shaft. I called Geico and had them come look at the damage although I already ordered a new driveshaft and had it shipped to the suspension shop for replacement- Geico did not reimburse me for this as "it is normal wear item". I had 130k racing miles on another EXACT car and NEVER had a carrier bearing issue on it yet "it is normal wear" excuse... Went back to body shop and complained about missing bolt and they found it! They immediately delivered it to the suspension shop. Got my car back two days later with new driveshaft- still shaking and vibrating. Took my car back to the body shop and complained again; took lead technician on test drive and they agreed. They told me could be a rim or rear shock.

I also ran a Carfax and found that when Geico did the initial adjustment, they noted structural damage and this was added to my car history. I specifically previously asked if there was frame damage and both Geico and the body shop told me "No". I brought this up and Geico said "well, there was minimal damage to the lower frame rail" (bull crap- I saw the damage with my own eyes when the car was wrecked) and that "structural damage could be something as simple as a fender". I INSISTED on having a frame inspection at this point.

After a few more days of jerking around and escalating to multiple upper levels of adjusters at Geico, they agreed to pay to put the car on a frame rack to check frame, but I had the body shop check out the rims first, which they say one of the rears had a bend in it and could not be balanced; they also said tires had cupping. Funny thing is that they were brand new tires that I put on the car as soon as I got it back from the body shop the first time BECAUSE of the vibration- this is not my first rodeo. And when I had that done, that tire shop did not note any issues with the rim. Body shop was OUTRIGHT LYING TO ME! Gave the body shop another set of wheels which they said "fixed the issue" when they drove the car, but I insisted they put the car on frame rack and inspect it anyway.

After three days- a frame inspection only takes a few hours, by the way- the body shop had the frame inspected and was ready for me to pick up. I verified no cupping on tires and no bends in any of original rims despite notes from the body shop and drove the car (with the alternate set of rims) and vibration was gone! Had the original rims immediately checked by another shop (I stood and watched as they spun the wheel and checked balance) and NO ISSUES found. I put the original rims back on the car and STILL NO VIBRATION.

Here is what happened: Geico did the math and realized that they would have to total my car for the amount it would cost to get it back to acceptable working condition ($17,000) again, which would include additional framework and inspection. So once they got close to the 75% cost mark ($12,000 or so), they stopped paying for things and started shifting costs over to me and the body shop (screwing us both).

I paid $1200 out of pocket in troubleshooting + $500 deductible. Furthermore, body shop took on the work and rushed the job/did not push the issue with insurance to do the job correctly (which complicated things because they didn't want to have to admit any fault at that point), which Geico took advantage of because they don't want to pay any more than they have to. 100% confident that during that three day frame inspection, the body shop found the frame was still not in spec and fixed it on their own time and money while creating false narrative of "rim damage" that Geico would not pay for because they knew there was nothing wrong with the rim. After they got the frame right, they inspected again, generated the inspection paperwork, and proved car was acceptable. This took TWO MONTHS to fix to satisfactory condition.

STAY AWAY FROM GEICO and be VERY careful about who you pick to do your body work! Otherwise, you better be technically inclined, have common sense, have good automotive knowledge, have a lot of extra time to micromanage where Geico refuses, and have a lawyer on hand should the body shop refuse to make things right in light of Geico not wanting to pay them to do things the right way. This was a complete nightmare and could have gotten worse if the body shop had not made things right despite Geico screwing everyone.

After explaining that my tires are 18 inch and I don't know if I want those or original tires, they took the word of the dealership and fixed my car with wrong tires. When I told them they basically told me there is nothing they can do. So in the end I lost over $1000 because them and Honda went ahead and fixed my car without my knowledge. GEICO IS NOT FOR YOU. I admitted I wasn't sitting there staring at their car, IF my foot eased off the brake and I had made contact it wasn't enough to make me aware of it or do any damage. We take photos, GEICO calls me, I tell them same. Year later I find out they got GEICO for ? $4.500.00 front and rear damage. I was given a AT FAULT accident on my record.

After I found out I call GEICO, they say, "Per our records you said your foot came off the brake." Which is did say during a conversation. They never sent an adjuster out to see this car that claimed to be in a 3 car accident. The car in front of them they say they hit never reported and my car had zero damage so? I figure they got lazy. I'm a commercial driver so it's cost me job opportunities. It would be my first at fault accident. To make matters worse I was rear ended twice at stop lights. I had uninsured driver coverage. Those claims have resulted in a $753 a month premium.

My 2005 Honda Accord was stolen from my home, when I realized that my car was stolen I immediately contacted the police. The police came and then did a follow-up at my job to see how I was doing and to get my information. I then contacted GEICO to notify them of the theft, I was assigned a adjuster who seemed very nice and gave the impression that she was here to help.

After giving a recorded statement and faxing overall required information I was told that if anything changes to contact her back (reassuring me that she was here to help). Not even 2 weeks before this happen I had just spent almost $600 fixing the car, the car had a malfunction where the key would sometimes get stuck in the ignition as I explained to the company. My car was recovered the same day but was later deemed a total loss. Now GEICO is refusing to pay for a rental car or close out for the total loss. I have contacted the company on several occasions and asked if I should seek legal representation about the hard time that I am receiving with getting help even for a rental car. My car was stolen and I am being treated as if I am the criminal. I have been with the company for over 5 years and this is the worst that anyone can be treated with no resolution.

I have been with Geico now for more than five years. My car got in an accident in December 2018. The claim was paid by Progressive insurance since it was the party driving the car was determined to be at fault by CHP. A week after had a problem with the amplifier of the car and all lights went out inside the car. Geico inspected the car while at BMW repair shop and it was found that water damaged the amplifier. Geico claims rep denied the claim and I ended paying $3700 from my pocket. I have made multiple trips for inspection by Geico tech at body shops and so far have received a single penny. My only suggestion to you it takes a lot of time and effort so please don't go with Geico as they are very good at collecting money and paying themselves a big salary while stealing from middle class individuals.

After a car accident that my wife had, we contacted Geico to take care of repairs for car. Initially experience seemed ok. Insurance adjuster named Regina ** (**) came out to my house where my wife’s car was located. Regina seemed nice. Took pictures. Asked a few questions. Gave impression she was here to help. Very pleasant given circumstances of broken car. So we shook hands, she left and few days later car was picked up and taken to mechanic. That’s when it started to become apparent that this was going to be a major headache.

Adjuster gave quote of damage around 1,200 dollars. Later on turned out to be like 4K. My wife’s car has been sitting at mechanic for more than a month. Repairs would take less than a week of course. Several things have happened over the course of close to a 5 week period. Not only is it completely hard to get ahold of the adjuster, but she tried to continue to pull some garbage by trying to order car parts from a junk yard lol. Despite mechanic and me telling her it’s unacceptable. That’s if I can even get ahold of her.

She’s an adjuster in Nevada. But was sent to where I live in Washington state. Which has its own issues. Assuming she went back to Nevada same day I initially saw her. I believe there has been some clear tactics used to delay return of car. Actual car repairs are less than a week. Axle, alignment issue. But now sits about 5 weeks. Still no car. I absolutely don’t blame mechanic shop for any delay. Insurance adjuster has to approve and repair to car, since she doesn’t even call people back it makes fixing car almost impossible. Regina **, working for Geico seems nice but really tried to screw us. I hope people read this and steer away from this adjuster.

I have had Geico for over 17 years. (full coverage with rental coverage) As of March 3.2019 my car was in a accident and disabled. Geico was good about covering a tow truck and arranging for a rental the next day. BUT, this is where things go downhill. Geico assures me that I can take my car to any repair shop. So I leave my car at the shop that towed my car. Well, the adjuster came out on the 5th and does a cosmetic estimate, because he would not get down on the ground to look underneath the car "hit a curb and tore the axle out from under" so the estimate is for 1600 and two day repair, (not looking at the damage under the car).

Anyways, the small repair shop could not get the repairs done in time Geico said they should. The 15th of March (11 days) Geico cancels my rental car. So I call and tell them to tow my car to a Geico preferred shop that has the adjuster in house. They cannot get my car on the lift to see the damage of the axle. so they used a car jack to pick up the front end.find some damage but can not see the back end damage. there for they are repairing the front so they can get it up on lift to see the back, (STILL WILL NOT GIVE ME A RENTAL) WILL NOT RETURN CALLS AND IT IS THE 21ST OF MARCH and I have made several calls, all unanswered until my husband calls on his phone and does *67 so they don't know who is calling.

They said they have spent too much money already... My policy states, rental coverage at up to $50 a day up to 31 days or $1500. My calculations says I still have 20 more days and or $950. WHY AM I PAYING FOR RENTAL CAR ON MY POLICY??? THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH ANY INSURANCE COMPANY in my life.

I switched to GEICO 12 years ago. Auto insurance rates are still the best for my zip code even they increase it about 10% a year. I love GEICO US-based customer service. Also, it is easy to use their website. This love ends when you need GEICO to pay and restore your car. They take care of windshield and glass, but repairs higher in cost. They will pay only a fraction of what it takes to repair. I had a minor crack in bumper cover and submitted a claim with two independent body shop estimates attached.

GEICO claim department sent me to an insurance approved body shop one more time to take pictures of damages. Then, GEICO adjuster on another side of the State came up with his own estimate that is half of submitted in the claim. They quickly sent a check for few hundreds dollars. Done. All my calls to customer care, provided additional information, all resulted in nothing. It's like you hit a wall. Only after I submitted a complaint to State Insurance Department I've got additional hundred dollars check. What a joke!

I'm not happy with claims process at all. GEICO does not take full care of your problem and pay very little to you, so it is not enough to fix the problem on your own. It was stupid of me paying GEICO for full coverage that long. My friend also had a recent bad experience with GEICO paid only fraction of totaled wife's car. It's probably a pattern - GEICO does not pay nor taking care of problems.

I disagree with this and the police officers that came out to the scene also agree with me that I was not at fault! I have called Geico every day and I get different responses each time. The first time, someone told me that I would get coverage. Then the next day they said that there would be no coverage. They have also been very suspicious about the other vehicle’s insurance. Called the next day for reimbursement because I paid for roadside assistance and was informed that they should have sent someone and a check would be issued for reimbursement. Due to this $75.00 check, the adjuster states they paid out. Wrong! You fixed your error!!

Now, she says that there is a difference in roadside assistance, since I hit a pothole, didn’t just have a blow out, it’s considered a collision, even though they paid for zero damage, I paid for a new tire. The claims adjuster “understands my frustrations” but there is nothing she can do to change her error. She has my recorded statement as to what happened and it clearly states I don’t want to file a claim, but to be reimbursed for paying out of pocket for my tire change because I pay for this monthly... End result is I was quoted $198 instead of $118 because of the “false claim” and she’s sorry!! Now the Department of Motor Vehicle shows I have an accident on my record!

Yes, this is a repost! Because They followed up with a fake review addressing multiple concerns and gave themselves 5 stars! UPDATE... I have not received a call from a supervisor, if I call I sit on hold or get disconnected. They did send an email stating that they reviewed my case and it’s listed as no fault, and there were never any surcharges. BS... your claims adjuster told me there was and she was sending this to the underwriter to review with the possibility for removal!! Again GEICO, you can not legally file a claim with out my permission and sure as heck when you don’t pay anything out of pocket I used roadside assistance! It’s like filing a claim for every flat tire change because people are colliding with nails!!!

I'm so glad I have a chance to tell someone about our experience with GEICO. We have had other auto insurance but none where we felt as protected. We are notified of every action GEICO takes so there are no surprises. Our payments are super simple and not outrageous. Customer Service is friendly and quick. We did need to use the Roadside Assistance once. We were about 20 miles from our home and our mechanic was just as far, but car just stopped and we were at a loss.

We called GEICO Roadside Assistance who was there under an hour, in fact, under a half hour and GEICO called while we were waiting to make sure we were okay. The truck came and the man was super professional while lifting our truck to be hauled to our mechanic 20 miles away. Our vehicle was lifted on the truck (not pulled) and hauled to our mechanic, no additional charges. It was handled professionally with no stress aside from the vehicle breaking down, no fault of GEICO, who made us nearly forget that we had to face problems with getting car repaired. We have had other insurance companies where we were charged and told about it after the fact or rates go up and we are told about it after. Not with GEICO... we know everything as it happens. So, I am glad we had a chance to tell someone that we really like the way GEICO does business. Great prices, great customer service and we are not alone when out on the road with GEICO.

Geico is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with (and I've lived in several countries). I don't say that lightly. I was told when I signed up several times that there was no cancellation fee is if I changed insurers. I queried this several times on recorded telephone calls and also checked their website the FAQ section. I also entered my zip code so the website could provide me with accurate information whenever I did this. Despite this, the website was clear that there are no cancellation fees. I then moved states and opted to stay with Geico. I told them of my new address as soon as I was certain that I would be staying there. I again confirmed (both on their website) and with the representative that there would be no cancellation fees of any sort.

I then found a better insurer around a week after my move (as the rates had gone up quite a bit more than I thought was reasonable based on the differences in state minimums). At this stage, I was only a week or so into my new policy and my old policy had only been paid a week or so before that (so I had already paid almost a full months' premium).

Geico told me that I would be charged over $70 as a short rate calculation (with no refund of any of the premium I had paid) and they refused to provide me with their short rate calculation manual (either before or after I was in the policy). I spoke to several different reps about this and explained what I had been told and also showed them their website as well as the policy (which they had misdrafted and which I wanted to rely upon). They all refused to do anything about it, refused to provide any complaints resolution procedure and would only ask a manager to call me back who they all said would not do anything about my issue anyway.

What I don't get is this - at no stage did Geico tell me about the short rate system (which is in effect a cancellation fee), even though I asked about this sort of thing several times. I spent a great deal of time speaking to various reps and they all steadfastly refused to do anything about it even though they all personally expressed the view that it was grossly unfair.

The end result of this is that I will never ever use Geico again - for any kind of insurance. I don't care if their rates are better. Why? Because you cannot trust what they say verbally or in writing. They are extremely dishonest. The only saving grace is that I never had to make a claim with them - because I honestly believe that they would not have paid out (that is my seriously considered personal opinion). In short, I strongly, strongly recommend that you do not use Geico. They truly do not care about customers and cannot be trusted. They effectively lost years of premiums for around $70. A company that supremely stupid cannot be too good at what they do. By the way, I would give them negative stars, but I have to give at least one to complete this review.

Horrible communication and follow up with my claim. I filed in Nov. 2018 and was FINALLY approved to have my claim paid in March, 2019. They never once contacted me to move the claim forward. I always had to contact Geico, sometimes several times in order to get the claim paid. It took 2 weeks to finally get a response on my claim once I contacted through their online 'file a claim' system. I was told I needed to go to a body shop to get an estimate of repair because they didn't have an adjuster in our area.

Everybody shop I visited stated they did have an adjuster and said they deal with him on a regular basis. I turned in the estimates to Geico and again, no response. I emailed and called Geico several times over the next month before getting a response. Their response was that the Geico claims adjuster would need to look at my vehicle. I waited 2 weeks for him to call and schedule an appointment to look at my vehicle. I took off work and he never showed up at the scheduled time! He couldn't have seen my vehicle because it was parked inside my locked garage.

I called Geico in regards to this. He just pushed my claim through, approved it for payment. I was then asked to send the title of the vehicle so they could remit payment. I sent a copy of the title and asked for a response. A week later I left a voicemail and another email. Another week later, another email. Finally I called and complained. I forwarded the emails I had sent in regards to the title that was requested to the rep on the phone. I was approved and issued payment within minutes of working with a supervisor. They sent the link within 3 business days to do an electronic deposit. Hopefully I receive my funds within 3 business days as promised.

When I made the claim for medical attention they paid my 1st visit to doctor $75 then I was referred to do MRI. The charges was $1600 for a visit to MRI. Geico refuse to pay. Saying that I have to pay it 1st then they will review the case and determine if I am eligible to get refund on that payment. I went through 5 adjusters in 3 months of my claim process. After not getting proper answer from them I simply cancelled my policy and went with Progressive with almost half of the cost of what I was paying to Geico.

I would like to leave here my bad experience with this insurance company that informs that it has 97% approval of its clients. I have been a Geico customer since 2016. I have no history of accidents, no traffic violations or even parking. I have never used my Geico insurance for all these years. In January of this year I needed to travel from California to where I live to solve some personal problems in the states of New York and Connecticut. On March 1, another vehicle collided in front of my car, which was parked on the street in front of the house of a friend I visited. This vehicle left the scene of the accident without leaving your data as a phone or car plate.

I looked for a body shop to do the repair of my car. When I went through the data on my policy, I was informed that my car had no collision insurance which I disagreed with at that point and showed all the information on my policy. I have in my policy the following insurance coverages: Comprehensive, Collision, Emergency Road Service, rental Reimbursement, Bodily Injury Liability, Property Damage Liability. After much insistence on my part I was able to open a claim to make a cost estimate and request a rental car for use. At this point I had a very unpleasant surprise on the part of this company. I was informed that my case was under investigation and that I should wait for the authorizations for car repair, car rental authorization and any other procedure to be done or paid for by Geico.

The claim was opened on March 6. Today, March 16, I have no response from Geico. I have no car, I can not go back to my home in California and the answer I have is that I have to wait. Not to mention the 2 surveys done, interviews over the phone, interviews in person, calls and more calls. Besides these problems the registration of my car sells on April 1st. From this date on, I can no longer use my car. Therefore, it is registered here and a council to all who come to contract insurance of this company called Geico.

Look for a company that respects the insured, do not believe in false promises or misleading advertisements. Geico does not have this percentage of approval, its service is horrible, its support is terrible, the process is bureaucratic and there is no respect for the client. Unfortunately what I have left at this moment is to wait and take on all this damage that Geico is giving me. One more detail, the collision in my car affected front bumper, headlight, fog lights and a small dent in the fender. It was no major collision. Before buying Geico insurance, think, think and think again. There are other company options that will give you more confidence and respect.

I’ve had insurance with this company for over a year. Never missed a payment. I added my girlfriend to the policy with a SR-22 because she has a DUI. The policy jumped from $150 to $153, I’m thinking that’s hella cool, no complaints. After the renewal it jumped to $187, at this point I am still fine with the amount given there is a person with a suspended license, Sr-22 and DUI on my policy. A month before my next renewal I get a letter of cancellation in the mail because I have somebody on my policy with a suspended license. BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT. They had no issues collecting the extra money for the last six months. So she goes down to DMV and gets a restricted license so I hurry and send the updated information and I didn’t get cancelled.

Two days later after they finally finished my renewal I find out that my policy jumped from $187 to $306. I’m so disappointed in GEICO. I use to tell people how awesome my insurance is but now ** Y'ALL. I’m looking for new insurance as of right now. Also now on the mobile app I can only see my current pay schedule. I cannot view my previous payments or turn off automatic payments. So that function is disabled. Shame on you.

I was insured with Geico auto for many years. They were the lowest price around. I had no issues until my wife had an accident. My wife was backing up and another driver was backing at the same time they hit each other. The cops were called and report taken both drivers admitted to backing up. I called and was told that Geico had determined that we were 100 percent at fault. I disagreed with this and contested it. It was placed under review by Geico who ruled it to be our fault. I asked for the report and reviewed it.

The first part they didn’t have the correct location or even the correct city. I asked if they even looked at the layout, the reaction times of the drivers and the report stated both backing. The representative said she looked it over extensively. When I provided my own pictures and layout and the correct location her story changed. It was now both of our faults as is the common law in backing incidents. This would require mediation between both Insurance companies. I was told it could take three months and it would be done by a third party company.

I have to keep following up and finally received a letter from Geico and a Geico letterhead that the mediator ruled that it was 100 percent our fault. This letter came from Geico’s internal mediation team. The representative said we had not shown that both parties were backing so it was our fault but they wouldn’t count the accident against us if we would just drop it. I responded to this with a question. Did this go to a third party mediation not affiliated with Geico? They refused to answer. I wanted to further the complaint and they said it was impossible to do so. This is all they would do. This accent was of a low amount and wasn’t worth the trouble to them to fairly represent me or seek shared responsibility. In the end I changed to the other driver's Insurance company.

    Updated review: March 9, 2019

I spoke with a Supervisor, Rebecca, yesterday and I'm glad to report that she was very helpful and was able to find a different way to most probably have my claim covered by them. As long as things go as currently planned, then there's a happy ending to this dilemma, which changes my views on Geico.

    Original Review: March 8, 2019

I really wish that I read the reviews on this site before starting my policy with Geico. I've read many different reviews and there seems to be a very clear and common trend with the way they operate and treat their customers. Since they're a huge company, you're just a number to them and they couldn't care less about helping their customers and doing what's right. Don't misunderstand me, if you're paying your policy on time and have no claims or issues that need to be handled, then they know how to courteously take your money every month with a big smile.

Once you enter a claim and actually need to utilize your insurance benefits, which is the entire point of having insurance to begin with, that's when they shift gears and look for any reason they can justify declining your claim. At that point they throw it back on you, even if it does not make sense or without any proof on their part, and now they quickly try to exit the picture. As stated in a previous review that I read, they take the approach of "we are right and you are guilty". That's the great customer service you can expect to receive at that point, even if your policy is active and nothing questionable or doubtful regarding the accident reported on that claim.

Honestly, I feel like I was scammed by Geico and it's for reasons like this why insurance companies have that negative stigma. Over the past 20 years I've had insurance policies with State Farm, Farmers, and Progressive Insurance, which are all big players within the industry, yet they take care of their customers and I've never had any issues with those companies. I had an accident 7 yrs ago when I was with State Farm and they were great. Perhaps now I understand how and why Geico advertises "save 15%" by using their services. Since their approach is to decline a bunch of claims that should be approved, they can very easily make back a lot more than that 15%.

My problematic situation with Geico is still ongoing and I'm still waiting for this magical call that I was supposed to receive last Monday (3/4/2019) from a Supervisors at the Customer Service Department, to let me know if they're able to reverse their decision and do what's right to help me get out of this mess that THEY put me into. If they do what's right and cover my claim, I will gladly update my online reviews and let all of you know the outcome. If they chose to continue making this difficult for me, I'll have to pass this to my lawyer and I'll be back with a lot more details regarding my case, to demonstrate how they truly operate and the tactics they use to take advantage of their customers.

Here's the short non-detailed summary for now, so you have an idea of what I'm dealing with. I started a new insurance policy with Geico towards beginning of Feb 2019. I followed the online instructions to complete my application and payment, and printed-out the form which states my policy number and that my coverage is effective immediately as of Feb 9 to Aug 9, 2019. The only other instruction was to submit the coverage selection form for health insurance if needed and I'll receive the original ID cards in the mail.

I had an accident on Feb 21 2019 due to ice on the freeway. They towed my car away, I got a police report, when I got home around 2am I called Geico to enter my claim. The Adjuster went to look at the car the following day and called me to say it's deemed as a totaled car and that I can start working on getting my next car over the weekend, and on Monday they'll call me to explain the next steps & details.

The call I received on Monday was a huge shock. The lady was quick to tell me that they "stripped the collision part of my policy" and will be reimbursing me for my monthly payment that covered my collision. Unbelievable. Apparently they sent me something in the mail the week before (2/14/2019) that they need some sort of inspection picture of my car and since they didn't receive it they decided to "strip my collision". Keep in mind this was the first time that I heard them requesting any picture of my car (after I had the accident and my car was deemed totaled), and when I got home that night I double-checked my mail and never even received this letter that she was referring to. They're not doubting anything with regards to my accident, since I have a police report and the car was towed off the highway, none-the-less in non-driving condition.

My car was a leased car. In NY/NJ by law you're required to have full collision coverage and GAP Insurance on any leased vehicles, for reasons like this one. Meanwhile Geico decided to simply remove the collision portion of my policy without notifying me, knowing that I'm driving a leased car. In addition, they were billing me regularly, and kept my collision payment with them until they decided to conveniently electronically reimburse that $90 portion back to my account 1 week AFTER my accident. Also, my wife spoke with their Reps several times the week before my accident to update her license information, and at no point did anyone mention anything about a missing photo inspection or anything missing from our file with Geico.

So far, it has been an absolute nightmare dealing with Geico and this issue, and to make matters worse now they're avoiding my calls, not getting back to me, and still keeping me hanging. The last time that they contacted me was 1 week ago to tell me that my collision was stripped, they're refunding that portion of $90 from my Feb payment, and now they want me to cover $30,000 with Nissan for the leased car that was totaled and left me a quick msg yesterday morning that I need to also pay the $1,200 towing & storage fee since they removed my collision.

When I spoke with them last week, the Supervisor from Customer Svcs said that she will have them re-look at my claim and will get back to me with an update by March 4th at latest. It's now 10PM on March 7th and the only call I received was the voicemail early yesterday morning notifying me that they expect me to cover the additional $1,200 towing/storage fee. These past 2 days I've been trying to reach the Mngrs, Adjuster, Claims Reps, and Customer Service Supervisor and they are not answering or returning my calls. I expect to connect with them one way or the other tomorrow, and I'll update the outcome of my claim and if you should all run away from Geico like the plague, or hopeful this was an oversight on their part and they do what's right for their clients that they swear by.

I recently switched my insurance over to Geico due to a rate increase from my previous provider Progressive. I contacted Geico after getting a quote online and was told my policy would be $84/month, $60/month less than what Progressive was going to change my rate to, fantastic, right? I activated my policy on the 1st of the month, on a Friday morning. My car was in a no-fault accident during the hurricane rains from Harvey, and while the damage was mostly cosmetic I am now on a salvage title. (Note: The only thing damaged that was a necessary repair was the bumper really. But it needed a bit of cosmetic work and it was considered totaled due to the insurance’s estimate of repairs, in relation to the value of the car. I replaced everything and repainted car and it looks perfect.)

Because of the salvage title, I was told I would need to visit a local Enterprise office to have them look at the vehicle quick and let Geico know that everything looked good. Unfortunately, the office near me only has a Geico person to do the quick “all clear” in the office on Thursdays. They are super accommodating and set me up with a way to email clear pictures of the vehicle in order for them to start my full coverage without me waiting a week. I started my liability insurance immediately at a cost of $55 that they charge to my provided card.

The representative tells me they can activate my insurance in the next hour after they received my email. I take my pictures promptly, and email them to the provided address before lunch. Then I begin the wait. No response by Saturday, so I call back to confirm they received the pictures, as I want to get my account squared away and started before my Progressive policy runs out on the 3rd. I am told that they can see I emailed in and that unfortunately no one from that department is in on the weekends. An agent confirms they received photos of my car to start full coverage. Fair enough, no big deal right?

I called back Monday morning, this time I am told it should definitely be taken care of by the end of the day and that they have sent a message prioritizing my email/account. I’m increasingly uneasy, my Progressive coverage ended that day, and while I didn’t expect to have issues I definitely don’t like driving without full coverage, you know, the whole reason you have insurance to begin with. I never hear back on Monday, so I call Tuesday morning. Maybe I just didn’t receive the notice and I’m good to go? Nope. This time the agent says that they will backdate the coverage to the 1st when I emailed the photos, and assures me that if anything happens, they have my back.

Wednesday comes and still no news. I’ve been checking on the app for my coverage to begin, and nothing. I call again, and this time I’m told they never received my email. I explain everything again, and resend my email to the same address. The current agent confirms they have it again, and says that I will hear something by the end of the days FOR SURE. There is still no response by Thursday morning. I decide that the phone tag isn’t worth it and contact Enterprise to speak with the Geico guy at the office and find out what time I can stop by. Unfortunately, the guy has no idea what I’m talking about. He tells me to contact Geico again, and that what I was told wasn’t accurate.

I call Geico again, explain everything, and the agent says he will have his supervisor look at the photos and get the okay immediately. Something I was told wasn’t remotely possible me for almost the last week. I email the pictures to his supervisor and 5 minutes later I am declared all good, and told I can set up my full coverage...

Except, my quote is suddenly $154, not the $84! I explain this isn’t the amount I was assured of when I switched my auto insurance (and even switched my renter’s insurance to save a little more). The agent doesn’t seem to know what is going on, no one can explain how the cost changed that dramatically from when they entered the initial quote. At this point I am tired of dealing with them, especially after they could have had a supervisor confirm the photos in 5 minutes the entire time. They could have saved me a week of phone tag, and my old coverage expiring this entire time.

I contact Progressive, get my old policy reactivated and they declared no lapse in coverage because I did it quickly enough. Then I call Geico to cancel. They tell me I need to contact Geico in writing in order to cancel my policy! After a back and forth of several minutes with the latest agent she places me on hold and talks to her supervisor. Apparently there is a way to cancel via text messaging and I don’t have to wait to end this nonsense. I cancel the account successfully, and ask when I will receive my refund, and it’s the usual amount of time to credit back... So at least I have my refund, right? For that insurance policy that I never needed, never used, and was misquoted the price on etc...

Nope. I am out $25 short of a total refund. I ended up paying Geico to give me a run-around for 6 days, spending about 5 hours on the phone, hunting them down repeatedly for information on if my policy was activated complete... If they had told me immediately on Friday that my policy was going to be $154, I never would have signed up with them. I may be paying more for my car insurance with Progressive now, but at least the customer insurance is good. Will never do business with Geico again. If you’re starting a policy, please ask multiple times about your coverage and how it breaks down. Ensure that every single bit is laid out for cost, and that they write in your account notes what the quote you received was.

The vehicle traveling in the opposite direction in the left turn lane pulled out in front of me and we had a collision. The police took a report from a witness behind me and she stated our light was yellow as I was going through. I wasn’t issued any citations by the police.

Now Geico says I’m at fault because they say the other driver has a witness that says the light was red. Regardless of that I have the right of way as I’m traveling forward and he was turning left into traffic. So I told Geico, "How come you didn’t order a police report to get my witnesses information and statement??" She said it takes too long... "Whose ** side are you on? They asked me to prove other she has other insurance before they could remove her. This is a “guilty until proven innocent” approach. She doesn’t drive!!! Why would she need other proof of insurance? Oh, it’s their guidelines!!! Greedy and insidious corporate business. Stay away. I’m switching as soon as I find a better company! In the meantime, I signed a main driver exclusion document to remove her from policy (they told me that I could do so after pressing for more information). I’m advising One. More. Time. Stay away from this company.

Suffice it to say the representative lied to me on the phone, took my payment, renewed my policy on 02/07/19 and assured me that I was on good standing. Then THE NEXT DAY issued a cancellation notice unless I pay an outstanding balance. I called them and demanded that a supervisor unearth the recording of the conversation with the rep and then contact me. They never called me and instead cancelled the policy retroactively to 02/07 without notifying me. I called them again and complained. They stated that the only way they could reinstate the policy was if I made a 6 month downpayment. This is how they play.

I first got Geico because the first job I had out of college had a discount with them. That was in the fall of 2013. Fast forward to 2017 and I've had no issues behind the wheel. I even added a 2nd car to my policy for my wife. I had a great per-month premium at just over $200/mo. This was AFTER they raised it by 10-12 dollars for a "cost of doing business" increase.

In February, I was sideswiped. Geico took care of me and I was not at fault. 2 days before my wedding in late September, I got in another small incident to which Geico ruled I was at fault for. Geico took care of me and I was thoroughly pleased with how they helped me with a rental, etc. Fast forward to March of 2019 (today). I keep a close eye on my monthly liabilities, and decided to look at my Geico app when I noticed a horrendous site: I had a $432 monthly payment. I literally nearly ** my pants.

So I call Geico to find out what happened. They said there was another "cost of doing business increase" and the rest was from my accident in September. I told them that I expected maybe a $50-$60 per month increase, but not doubling my previous premium. Of course they went through the whole "Let's try to find you discounts". I was steamed. I've gotten a couple of quotes putting the same exact information in that they used to underwrite my new premium and not a single one has been above $280 monthly. I ended up finding out about Geico's "Accident Forgiveness" policy today and looked into it and called them back. Turns out I was 5 days. Five. Days. From being eligible to receive that when I had my only at-fault accident. They refused to help me out, so I'm leaving them after 5 and a half years. 4.98 years of clean, non-at-fault driving. Had it been 5, I would have been ok. But they don't care about loyalty. So later, Geico.

So when I did not receive a bill for Feb 2019 I sent a check in without a statement. That check was never recorded and when I called about the problem no record of my call was made and I sent a second check to Bethesda Md. After I stop payment on the first check which may cost me a $35.00 stop payment fee. Several days later I received an email saying I was delinquent and I also received a letter with a return address on the envelope from Richardson Tx. and the same letter had an inside address from San Diego Ca. And oh yes I also received another bill in the mail with an address from Fredericksburg Va.

All these communications to and from different place contained varying information. This problem also involved three phone calls and it was the final call which resolved this matter. This is not the first problem I have had in communicating with GEICO. Long story short GEICO would seem to be a company with far flung centers that do a bad job of communicating with each other. I could go on about phone conversations and how GEICO vales customers but that would be rubble bouncing. Jim.

I was a Geico customer for over 5 years for car insurance, actually was pretty happy as they had the best rate and I had a seamless experience filing claims. Unfortunately in spite of my longevity, after a car accident last year they canceled my insurance. Technically they non-renewed me, since I have automatic credit card payment every 6 months I did not realize I was uninsured until I found out from the MVA almost two months later that I had been driving uninsured, when I contacted Geico they stated they sent a certified letter that my post office unfortunately never delivered to me. I tried calling Geico two times to give them the information they needed to reinstate my policy, I sent them the form on vehicle usage that they requested, still without any response from them regarding a new policy so I decided to go with another insurance carrier.

After a complaint to my state insurance board, apparently they only need to send a certified letter, they do not need to confirm that it was received, and Geico's real fault here is they made no other efforts to inform me via e-mail, phone that my insurance policy was about to end. Their response was that they were not required to.

So even being a good long-term customer, I am highly not recommending them because they cancelled my policy without any good reason to, didn't make effort to notify me outside of their legal requirement which unfortunately my post office is unreliable and loses mail all the time, assuming certified letter required signature on receipt they should have known that I had not received their letter and should have called me, instead I was driving uninsured, had to pay a fine, and it is very expensive to get auto insurance on a whim when you have not had continuous coverage.

He got a ticket for overtaking. He basically made his own lane, even where there was orange cones on the side. What the heck.

Geico does not assist its own people. This way I guess both insurances can jack up premiums if both at fault? I asked to dispute this but Richard, my claims adjuster from another state said I cannot. What?? Geico used to be good but now I question the professionalism and ethics. Richard **? Should not be an adjuster if he’s only trying to rush claims thru. He decided with Progressive what the % should be, and decided within a day or 2. She rolled her car several times resulting in a total loss claim. She had not even made the first car payment. Needless to say, Geico waited 33 days to make payment to lien holder resulting in a deficit owed. Although it showed we had accident forgiveness, it was not until after the events unfolded we found out that is only valid if the driver is over the age of 21.

Furthermore, they only offered $1000 toward medical bills even though we had uninsured and under-insured motorist coverage. My daughter is still without a vehicle and is having to borrow her brothers. They only offered $45 reimbursement of the deficit owed to the lien holder. Lien holder has since put negative remarks on our credit report because everything is tied up in litigation. When it came time to renew our terms, our premium went from $1450 every 6 months to $3937. The only other claim we had ever made with Geico was for a windshield. They have never had to pay for ANYTHING for us before, and this is how we were treated. Don't believe the hype in the commercials. This is all a hook, line and sinker to get you in their system while making the consumers think they are getting a deal. I have had Geico for several years. I have never had any claims. I went on vacation and my car was flooded in a parking garage parked on a river that had a sudden flash flood in the middle of the night. My car was submerged the hood for over four hours in violently rushing, dirty flood waters. My car was towed and it took days for the adjuster to access it. When he called he told me he could not crank my car as he did not have the key but everything looked fine. He then went on to say the electronics worked perfectly. I may not be the smartest monkey on the tree but I very am not dumbest. No key, no cranky... So this was the first red flag. Mind you my CAR WAS UNDER WATER FOR OVER FOUR HOURS but he said all was fine. Just a new oil filter and a good wet dry vac!

I immediately had my car towed to a dealership which could not understand why the vehicle subjected to that type of flood would not have been totaled immediately. Electrical failures started two weeks post accident and Honda will not honor my 5 year bumper to bumper 100k warranty on my brand new flooded car but the adjuster said “he just couldn’t total a $30k car.”

Hired a lawyer and will probably sue them for WAY more than what they would have had to pay out if they had just done the right thing! The time is running out for them “to do the right thing” as far as I am concerned. I am very disappointed in the good faith practice they claim to offer. I have paid my premiums ($578) every month without lapse and this is how I’m treated. They would have made this up in a short time just off my premiums had they done what was right but I guarantee that they’ll never see another penny from me after the hell they have put me through for over a month!

From the start the first adjuster’s assessment was wrong. The car should have been totaled but was not. Got the car out finally and now the car overheats. We took it to a specialist and he said the fan assembly was not working properly because of the accident and now we have warped heads. While in the shop for over a week now, the new adjuster said he was looking for an engine replacement.

They could not find one so I talked with him yesterday and he said most likely it will be totaled. So this afternoon I get a call today saying they were only going to replace the fan assembly and that should fix the problem. I’m no mechanic but how is replacing the fan assembly going to fix the engine? Seriously what are they thinking. So now I have to wait for them to get in a fan assembly and still keep paying for a rental car while we wait again. Mr. Warren Buffet needs to read my complaint here as I am also a private investor and very upset with Geico as of turn of 2019 year came in, and their seemingly new sleezy business practices to make money any way they can. I have many types of insurances from personal to business needs, and always been top rated client for many years. We have never had auto accidents either, are AARP members, and after being with Geico the past 10+ years (auto insurances) we are now going to go elsewhere. Here's our story:

We had purchased (2) new vehicles in the past 3 years (one for my wife to replace old, and one to replace my work vehicle). My most recent was a 2018 GMC Sierra, which was same exact replacement of an older 2004 GMC Sierra I had. Our auto insurance rates actually went down when we made the sale of the new vehicle at the Dealership, told it was because of all the new technology and safety equipment, etc over my older vehicle.

We also have our last son in high school graduating this June, who has been driving over 2 years and went through a 1 year State required driver training program in past as well. He was covered under our (2) auto policies (student coverage rider) we have with Geico if/when he drove our vehicles, or anyone else's vehicles... SO we had this new GMC purchase 4 months ago and also my wife's 2016 Toyota 4-Runner, both with 100% full coverage as always. So initially we were happy and everything seemed great the last few months, and Geico's rates were far better than anyone else's including AARP sponsored insurers.

Now comes January 2019, and 6 month policy renewal period again, we received bill in mail and OMG, all of sudden the premiums went 50% higher without any explanation! Without going into every detail my wife has been going through from countless Geico agents to NC Insurance commissioner's office, etc. We find out finally from one Entity inside Geico, that because our son has a license in NC, that he must be "assigned" a certain vehicle as his own! In essence, Geico now added a 3rd Comprehensive policy coverage because our high school (18 year old) son who lives in our home, and is a full time student, are charging us as if we had (3) vehicles in our home, which we only have (2).

On top that, through a research department my wife dealt with at Geico, we find they did a Wells Fargo bank on us too!!! Meaning, they also added additional bank-type products on to our policy which also costs extra over just the policy which WE NEVER asked for or knew about! SO this matter we find started back around time she got her 2016 Toyota and she is trying to get all of those monthly payments/costs credited back to us that should NEVER have been padded into our policies to begin with... But the ongoing issue at hand is this enormous auto policy increase we are told is being investigated by Geico for the last 3 weeks and so many individuals who have bounced my wife around saying "Only the Underwriting Department" now can repair this and make changes to any policy once enacted.

This is disgusting, and with so many years' history with Geico, because the 13th of January was our due date, and we were forced to pay this monthly premium over $400.00 Geico now shows due to keep insurance policy active under NC law, until cleared up internally and corrected as they say only Underwriting can do - But we have NOT heard from anyone in Underwriting Department yet! Talked to my oldest friend whose wife has been in insurance over 30 years, and she is also #1 Underwriter for another major insurer, and she said she NEVER heard of anything like this going on as there are only (2) vehicles in our home, and only (2) vehicles need to be insured...

I will NEVER go back to GEICO as long as I live. They have been nothing but expensive from the start. My rate went down sort of for a while and I didn't question it because some companies do that for good drivers. However they started raising it more and more each month and nobody would tell me why. I was never given a reason for the upcharges. They just went ahead and did it! The "discounts" are BS! It took maybe 2 bucks off. At the end before cancellation they were trying to charge $101.00 for liability only. I have no tickets and have been in no accidents in 6 years. Don't go with Geico for saving money because you won't.

I myself have had an issue with Geico claims department. I’m very disappointed with the service I received. I was lied to, manipulated, pressured, and degraded not by one employee but 2 from the same department. I’m going to make a long story short because there are already several agencies already investigated my complaint. I had an accident sent my car to one of Geico’s approved body shop to be inspected for further damages. Well I don’t know if Geico was trying to save money or maybe they thought they could get away with putting an unsafe vehicle back on the road. That is not only unsafe for myself but for other drivers.

The adjuster handling my claim called me two days after my car was sent to the shop and said the auto body shop inspected my car and there is no other repairs needed other than what was originally quoted. I asked about my airbag light because it was a safety issue and wasn’t on prior. I was told it is not Geico’s responsibility and if I wanted my airbag light fixed I would have to pay myself because they are not responsible for it.

So I called the shop where my car was and the auto body shop told me they plugged in my airbag and the code came up “faulty seatbelt switch” I asked the mechanic if that’s the code came up why is Geico refusing to fix it or send it to dealer for further inspection? I also asked the mechanic if he inspected everything I was concerned about because Geico said he had. He said, "No we have done nothing to your car but read the airbag light code and we don’t even have the proper equipment for that. The dealer does." I said, "Thank you for your honesty because I was told by my adjuster and his supervisor that the inspection was done and no more damages were found." Now my question to Geico is do you routinely practice putting your customers in unsafe cars after a accident. Was I as a customer not important enough for you to inspect my car and ensure you were putting a safe car back on the road.

They have tried several times to get out of paying and I'm tired of it. Their insured driver was in the wrong lane going into on coming traffic and slammed into us on purpose. We had several witnesses and a police report that stated all of this and they still don't want to pay up. Geico is a joke and they are liars. Upon further investigation by Geico, in addition to not completing the repairs the repair shop requested additional parts replacement for thousands of dollars while in possession of my car, however the parts were not replaced. Geico employees and their supervisor are fully aware of the issue, however they refuse to help saying, I picked the body shop. All I can figure is the Geico employees are incompetent or involved in the insurance fraud.

The bill was due Sat., Jan. 5th. I had scheduled a payment through my bank which reached them Monday, Jan. 7th. They sent me an email on Sunday, the 6th, one day late, with a threat to cancel if not paid within a couple weeks. They received my payment on the 7th as scheduled.

Today I was informed that because I was one business day late (?) they were requiring a second payment the end of this month of January and then another payment due the beginning of February (essentially split the bill due for February). I was informed they were required to send out 2 warnings of cancellation within one week by the state with as little as one day late. All this because I was 1 business day late... Needless to say, I was very upset, called their company and asked to speak to the customer service manager. When I heard the manager stifle a laugh the first time, I thought it was my imagination. But then I heard him do it the second time and then tried to cover it up with a cough when I waited to respond. I guess they find upset customers humorous.

I was in an accident that totaled my vehicle in February 2018. GEICO paid me out in full. Great experience. GEICO told me that I should continue to carry full coverage insurance in case I am in an accident in another vehicle, so I did. In March 2018 I purchased a new truck. In August 2018 I was in an accident "in another vehicle" where I was at fault. I handed over my insurance information to the other person in the accident with no worries. I received a call saying that I was not insured. Turns out that my new truck was not on the policy. I called GEICO and they told me that they would not pay for any damage to either vehicles even though I had been paying full coverage on a vehicle that I no longer owned. I talked to every manager but Warren ** at GEICO in hopes of them taking responsibility for the accident considering they took 7 months of full coverage premiums.

No one would help me out. They would not even refund me the 7 months of full coverage premiums that I had paid. Essentially I paid 7 months of full coverage premiums on a vehicle that I did not own and got nothing in return because my new truck was not on the policy. I had to pay $8000 out of my own pocket to fix my truck. The other person had to claim uninsured motorist. Only after I filed complaints with the Texas Department of Insurance and Attorney General and many calls to GEICO did they refund my 7 months of premiums.

Now I have to pay $6000 because I am being sued for not having insurance, when technically I did. Once again, I called GEICO and I was told there was nothing they 'wanted' to do. GEICO completely took advantage of me. They took no responsibility. They turned their back on me when duty came to call. I am stuck paying $14,000. What entity is out there to hold them accountable? I am a US Army Combat Vet who spent 24 months in Afghanistan and Iraq. 'Proudly serving veterans since 1936'? I would hardly claim to be proud of how they served this veteran.

Terrible experience. I go to their website to quote an auto insurance policy, provide 100% accurate information, and after entering all my private and bank information and hitting the purchase button, they double the price from $,1500 to $3,300 for no reason. Their Motor Vehicle report did not contain the accidents I reported, and hence the quote should have gone down. I call them resolve and they indicate their website in only a quoting tool and not intended to be taken seriously - after they asked for my private information and banking information to pay the policy. Then after calling them they bait and switch again by telling me the coverage is not for the 250K/500K I was quoted, but for $100K/$300K. So, even if I decided to pay double the price quoted I would still be later surprised to find out I paid for what was only 1/3 the coverage quoted. If this is not marketing deception, I do not know what it is.

I called the other insurance on a weekly basis and eventually forced them to pay off despite their policyholder's decline to respond. In the second instance, Geico claims rep just checked Google maps and made a decision on the case without conducting investigation and obtaining any further evidence of fault/no fault. I was rear-ended by a motorcycle in October 2018, I had two passengers as witness. The motorcycle left the scene, we followed and got the address. I called the police. They came out, took pictures, and interviewed all of us. The police report clearly says the other driver is at fault. Geico is refusing to pay the claim, since the other driver is also insured by Geico and he doesn’t agree with our three statements. They can’t find him at fault. When I asked about the police report I was told the other driver said the police were wrong. Since the guy at fault said “it’s not my fault” they do not have to pay any claim??? Please be careful before you sign Geico up as your insurance. They will do anything not to pay the claims.

I had GEICO about 5-6 years ago and switched to Liberty Mutual as they beat my renewal rate. I'm back with GEICO as they beat my Liberty Mutual renewal. I am continuing to have no issues and hope they can keep my rates low.

Which would cost me $100.00 for repairs. But since this Fraudulent lying piece of ** has insurance it will cost me $1000.00. SERIOUSLY!! I shouldn't have to pay a dime. This was not my fault. You pay out the butt and get screwed when you need to use what you pay for. So I had gotten car insurance through Geico. I paid almost $300 to start with a monthly payment of $175. Which was fine. The very next day I get an email stating they were dropping my insurance because my husband (whom I’m separated from) had a “suspended license.” This man name Christopher ** called me and I explained my situation to him. I assured him that my estranged husband would not be in my vehicle much less driving my vehicle. He said they were going to drop me anyways and only pay me $92 of my almost 300$ I paid for less than 2 weeks of coverage.

I called Geico today and tried to see if I could keep my coverage due to the situation. Once again this man returns my call but is being a respectful ** about the situation. I told him my “husband” was in Mexico trying to get his papers legally. He said that’s none of his business and he will not be reinstating my insurance nor has any interest in returning any of my money. I felt he was being very rude and completely prejudice to my situation. I would advise anyone to give progressive a call before considering Geico. They had absolutely no problem taking my money and dishing me nothing in return. He made me feel bad.

If buying your first home isn’t stressful enough, Geico increased our stress exponentially by being misleading, insensitive, indifferent and incompetent. First of all, they gave us a false sense of security by making obtaining homeowner’s insurance seem easy. We gave them all of the required information about our home and our mortgage company and they said “everything is all set!” Only to find out AFTER closing that they never billed our mortgage company (to put it in our escrow account) so we had to pay an extra $908 AFTER we signed all of the paperwork and watched our bank account take a beating. That was fun. And if that wasn’t bad enough, they decided to screw us over even more. I called their customer service number to add my engagement ring to the policy only to find out that they were canceling our policy effective January 14th, 2018.

They claimed they sent out a letter 12/6/18 that would explain the reasoning and they were “very sorry for the inconvenience.” I got the letter yesterday (12/12/18). Like are you kidding me? Something that serious doesn’t warrant a phone call??? They claim that their “inspector” came to the house and indicated that our roof needed to be replaced as well as some branches cut down, which is why they decided to cancel the policy. If that was the case, could they have come to that decision before my closing (since I called and got my homeowner’s insurance WEEKS before closing)? Or before they said we were approved and then took my money?

I guess it doesn’t matter that we had a professional home inspector (and mortgage company also inspected) and both said the roof and branches were fine. Let’s just cancel your policy and then not tell you about it! Good thing I called about my ring or else I might have not known until next week! It's not like I don’t have enough on my plate right now huh Geico? Would have been nice to have an extra week to figure out what to do, but Geico is not professional or considerate. Already found another insurance company that seems lightyears better and I am glad to be rid of Geico. With such horrendous service from the beginning, I’m glad I won’t have to find out what filing a claim is like with them! What a headache.

My car was rear-ended by a driver who had GEICO Commercial insurance. The accident happened on AUGUST 22. After reporting the accident with my car insurance we decided I should file the claim with Geico. I waited over a month for Geico's adjuster to come to my residence to see the car (SEPTEMBER 25). I was told by the adjuster that GEICO will send a check for the repair. It took over THREE WEEKS for me to receive the check in the mail. As soon as I was able to I took my car to the body shop for the repair (OCTOBER 31). I signed over my check to the body shop that day and the body shop began to assess the damage the following day. They then had to wait for Geico's adjuster to come out to the body shop. Geico's adjuster did not show up for the first body shop inspection until NOVEMBER 13!!!

In the meantime Geico paid for a rental car and issued me a Toyota Camry (my car is a 2018 Subaru Outback). After over 2 more weeks of waiting and learning that I was supposed to have been issued a car that was comparable to my car, I left several messages with Geico about switching out my rental, but never heard back from anyone. After several additional attempts I finally called Geico Commercial directly and I now drive a Nissan Rogue. Due to further delays regarding supplemental approvals it took until NOVEMBER 21 for my car to be repaired.

Here's the kicker - due to negative experiences with Geico the body shop has a policy of not releasing my car to me until they have a written confirmation of the final payment due for the repair. It is now DECEMBER 7 - and I still do not have my car!!! Meanwhile, Geico has already had to extend my car rental twice + they will be charged a storage fee for every day that the car remains in the shop. Someone please explain how any of this makes sense.

About two years ago they gave me a great quote and we decided to switch back. Within two weeks of making the first payment, Geico contacted us to say the quote was wrong and our premium went up.

At renewal it went up again. We called to get a quote on a new car prior to buying it. Bought and added the car and then was notified for the second time that the quote was wrong and my premium was increasing even more. We then added a teen driver. It went up (we expected this increase) but now today a year later they said they are just adding my teen driver and increased my rate AGAIN! First let me state that up until this point, I felt Geico was fantastic. Anytime I've had a claim, they've done everything they can to help make the process as pain-free as possible. That being said, their information varies based on the agent or supervisor you speak to. In my case, it was both. Over the course of the past 24 hours, I have spoken to over five different agents (some great, others not so great). The issue escalated when speaking to the final agent I got placed on the line with named, Sharlyn. Don't get me wrong, I believe she was giving me the best assistance possible. I explained my issue of moving from MD to NC and the previous information I had been given, and she tried her best to sort out the miscommunication with the process; however, she was not able to resolve an issue I had with the DMV in NC, and so I asked to speak to a supervisor. When I did, she quickly advised me that one had been on the line "the whole time."

My immediate thought was: GREAT, maybe she has some insight into why this can or cannot be solved? But no... lo and behold, instead what proceeded was a long 2 hour conversation about how I am lying and how the agents probably explained it right, but I must have misunderstood - which I guess could be possible if it happened once, but no. To illustrate just how much wrong information I was given, my policy has been changed and altered THREE times by different agents believing that they know how to handle the transfer of our cars from MD to NC - all of them claiming to have "fixed" the previous agents mistakes. Benita (associate #**) talked down to me saying that the reason I've had so many issues was because I refused to take the agents' advice??? That's when I politely explained that I am simply following what I was told; I know nothing about insurance, and I don't claim to know.

I ALWAYS call to get advised before making ANY changes on my policies, and am at the mercy of what the agents tell me. I would NEVER argue about how to go about a process that I know nothing about; however that's what Benita claimed I did on the phone with Sharlyn. She then proceeded to tell me that Sharlyn didn't say certain things that she most definitely told me. I even mentioned getting it investigated by law - in which her tone varied greatly. After that point, she proceeded to say I need two separate policies, which mind you, was NEVER offered to me by any other agent I had spoken to previously.

Long story short, I have a feeling my husband and I will be searching for another insurance company. It breaks my heart because with the few claims that we have made, they have been super responsive, and their pricing is unbeatable, but I have to do business with people that I can trust and who are going to care and assume the best in their consumers.

Negative 5 stars. I was in an accident earlier this year. I was told by GEICO over the phone we would be taking responsibility even though I felt it wasn't my fault. They never came and investigated like I suggested. Had they did they would've seen how narrow the street was as I told them so if I had in fact hit her she would have hit the all the cars parked parallel to her, nope. She was hugging and consoling me that it could've been worse, we're both insured and neither of us were hurt. She told me adjuster she was fine. 2 weeks later I received a letter from the DMV notifying me she hired a Beverly Hills attorney and was suing me. I was livid, we my kids were crying for a happy meal so we go to McDonald's and guess who helps us at the drive thru? None other than the girl who is suing me for neck and back pain. I call GEICO and give all the details, hoping this shows it's not true.

A few weeks later I get a letter from an insurance company I had never even heard of saying the claim was denied, I was like what claim? Who are you? So I call them and got the runaround. After the 3rd call I was told that the claim was denied because after their investigation they found out her mother wasn't in the car at the time so they are denying her mothers claim and had to notify me. Wow?? I was blown away, I was like surely this enough for GEICO to prove they are trying to run some fraud or something.

All GEICO would say is that they will contact me once it's settled. They straight out told me we offered money and are just waiting to them to accept. I was livid, I've shown more than once that she is a liar. I asked them, "Did you even try to fight for me because it seems like you're basically bending over for her lawyer?" I was told, "Once the case is settled you will be noticed." No help whatsoever. I got a letter a few days ago that they've settled, she accepted the offer. Poor injured girl, she didn't look injured at all when she was running around at McDonald's LAST NIGHT in the kitchen. So this is what GEICO did for me. Should also mention I've never had a ticket or an accident, have been driving for 20 years, and because of that they actually raised my rate over $200 more than it already was. For good measure, I also called the DMV and received confirmation that its records had the correct spelling. I had already warned Geico that if I determined that it was lying, that I would cancel the policy and require a full refund. She has been a customer of Geico for quite a few years herself before she had to change her last name. May 2017 was a year where unfortunately I was struck from behind at 80 mph on the expressway by an SUV. Geico fixed my car and denied my diminished value of my vehicle. June 2018 my car was rear ended by an international flatbed truck at a much lower speed. During these incidents my wife was not on my policy. July 2018 we get a new SUV for my wife and I include her in my policy. My wife while we were in separate accounts with Geico had 1 accident of her own in March of 2017. Now understand that for my accidents I contacted an attorney so that all medical expenses would be covered and that I would get the utmost care for my physical well being as possible. My wife did not.

None of these incidents/accidents were our fault. When I spoke with representatives they had assured me that my policy would be fine and that I had nothing to worry about with my insurance. My wife and I have never been late on any payments and now we are being punished. Today I get a call from 1-800-841-3000. A Geico number with an agent on the line stating that my newly joint account will not be renewed because of the frequency of the accidents that I was involved in and also the negligence that I have shown as a customer. I pay my bills on time. I abide by my end of the contract and Geico denied the diminished value of my vehicle when they should have totaled it! The car I drive now does not align properly anymore and I am stuck with a vehicle that will never sell for the same value ever again. But Geico wants to deny me the coverage that I have been paying because I went to the hospital?!

What in the hell is wrong with this multi billion dollar industry?! I want to post this complaint to every review website on earth... "Geico will cover you but only if you don’t crash and it only lasts for a number of years." I want to scream at the top of my lungs and the attendant whose job it is to send notification to the customers... Kudos for being so heartless knowing you have ruined my family’s day. Geico was notified of my complaint and denied, nor sympathized with our situation. They just said, “Good luck getting insured.” Would not recommend this insurance to no one ever again.

After not receiving a reasonable timely response from the adjuster, approximately 10:43 AM, I contacted customer service and informed the representative that my attempts to contact the adjuster assigned to the claim has been unsuccessful and I needed to speak with her supervisor. The representative suggested that I allow her to attempt to contact her before contacting the supervisor, which I agreed. The representative informed me that her attempts were unsuccessful also and if I still wanted to speak with the supervisor, which I replied, "Yes." Simultaneously, at 10:47 AM, the adjuster was calling me through “call waiting” so I informed the representative and switched calls. I requested an update concerning the claim and the adjuster claimed that it was still pending decision.

This was the forty fifth (45) day since the report was filed and she had not obtained a copy of the police report or the name of the investigator. I sent to her by fax transmission (6 pages); a copy of the “Incident/Investigation Report” and a copy of the financial company documents. As an added measure, on the fax cover sheet, I wrote the assigned police detective’s name and his direct office telephone number. On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 12:22 PM, I sent to the adjuster by fax transmission (3 pages); a copy of my father’s diminished capacity diagnosis and copies of email conversations between myself and the police detective. On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 3:36 PM, I sent her by fax transmission (2 pages); a copy of an email from the police detective informing that on September 11, 2018, the vehicle was located and recovered during a traffic stop by law enforcement.

On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 2:17 PM, the adjuster contacted me by telephone and informed that after conducting a meeting with Geico’s legal team, the company would not be settling the claim because the “General Power of Attorney”, issued to my sister from my father. To this date, although there is documented proof (Actual report) that a police report was filed and the conclusion that the offense was Felony larceny, GEICO still stand on the denial of the claim based on the assertion that there was no police report. GEICO is deceitful and failed to handle the claim in good-faith.

My issue is with Geico not standing by their customers and repairing my car to the condition it was before my accident! I have a 2005 Audi A6 insured w/ Geico. My car was hit by a truck a couple months back that fled the scene. It was minimal damage (Side mirror, passenger side front/rear door light body damage and repainting). However, I was astounded when they declared it as $4,100 in damages but, hey, what do I care they are paying for it. Geico sided with me and agreed to repair my car. A reputable collision shop had my Vehicle for a MONTH while Geico had me in a rental. It was a bad experience because the body shop never even once contacted me to give me an update on my car. They jerked me around towards the end when they said I could pick it up - I got a light run-around but nothing too bad.

Once I got my car back from the body shop I could tell immediately that there were things wrong that did NOT exist prior to the repairs. These include...check engine light on in dash, daytime running light out, Audi advanced key not functioning AT ALL, push to start not working, exhaust hanging/broken weld at bracket, wobbly driver's side mirror.

I contacted the body shop and told them about all these issues. I had to drive back and forth to the shop about 5 times. Geico approved the supplementals and put me in another rental for ANOTHER WEEK. The shop fixed the mirror, tacked the exhaust (which already failed and is hanging currently) but created more issues while I was there including causing my power window to stop working and my speaker in the door panel to sound blown/rattle. They managed to get the window working after I had to wait, yet again, for over 1.5 hours at their body shop. All in all, I must have spent 5 hours waiting at this shop for all these resulting issues that arose that they fixed. The only things that remain broken are my exhaust and rattling speaker--Both of which were NOT like that before they did all the work to my car.

Fast forward a week after taking my car home and here is where the serious issue happens. My car simply will NOT start up. I had to get it towed to my local mechanic to diagnose the problem so I can either fix it on my own (if simple) or contact Geico for YET ANOTHER related supplemental issue. It turns out WATER got into my trunk somehow and pooled under my spare tire! It fried my fuel pump electronic control driver. It cost me $500 to get it fixed! This has NEVER occurred prior to the accident! How can this be coincidence???

I immediately contacted the body shop/on site Geico adjuster and told him about the issue. After returning, yet again, to the body shop they basically said, "NO we will not fix this because it is not related to the accident!" Where do they get their logic?? I can name 7 things that happened AFTER the shop did all the work... 1) Audi advance key stopped working. 2) Push-to-start stopped working. 3) Check engine lights on in dash. 4) Daytime running light bulbs shorted. 5) Exhaust bracket broke. 6) Driver side mirror rattling/broke spring. 7) Blown/rattling speaker in door.

*How can they argue that they can't relate this water damage/fried fuel pump control to the car crash or subsequent repairs? If I inherited 7 additional issues with my car AFTER the body shop got done with it then why is it so hard to fathom that there could be 8? I'm sorry but that shop loses credibility in my book after more than a couple things being wrong after they complete their work. This is not a chance thing here. This is a pattern! So my adjuster refuses to help me out. I contacted his manager and I am awaiting his call back. TLDR: My car is leaking water into my trunk after the insurance repairs were done causing $500 worth of damage and they refuse to pay for it! Any and all help would be appreciated--thanks for letting me vent!

I got my policy with GEICO on 11/16/18 when I bought my new car. I paid $140.32 to get the policy started, and it was for myself as a driver and since my husband lives with me I listed him as a non-driver. The policy was granted and I thought everything was good to go. On 11/28/18, I received an email stating "Your policy has been canceled as of 12/11/18. Please call us for further assistance". So I contacted customer service and was told that because my husband's license is suspended, and lives in my household, he has to be covered as a driver on the policy. I informed customer service that my husband's license were suspended and revoked by the state of Ohio in 2007, which also means they have since expired. GEICO's statement, paraphrased, was this: "A suspended license means that you are still a licensed driver but the license is not active."

To me, this is a ridiculous loophole for the company to take my deposit for the exact opposite reason they are citing for canceling the policy. When I asked for a full refund, they stated that I was due no refund because they provided coverage from 11/16-12/11. They provided coverage... but are canceling the policy because they cannot provide coverage because of the license situation... but they provided coverage... that they cannot provide. It isn't rocket surgery to see that they are completely screwing me over. I bet there isn't a single person, outside of the GEICO company, that would believe they would have approved a claim submitted between the "coverage" dates and would have stated that the policy was null and void because of the license but uncovered driver. Here's the kicker... Ohio law states that if you live with another driver, that person must be listed on the policy.

If that driver WILL NOT BE DRIVING YOUR CAR (regardless of license status) you will be require to sign an exclusion affidavit stating that the uncovered driver won't be operating the vehicle. GEICO did not offer or even mention the exclusion clause, and by doing this, VIOLATED OHIO LAW. Geico offered me a measly $54 refund of the $140 I paid just 12 days after the policy started. And all this within a month of Christmas. When I think of an insurance company, I expect caring and understanding customer service. I definitely do NOT expect to be charged for coverage, and then have the policy canceled because they cannot provide that coverage... that they provided and charged me for... but cannot provide the coverage... that they provided... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

This entire situation is ludicrous! GEICO has simply put a sportcoat and tie on STRONG ARMED ROBBERY! If you, your family, or anyone you know tells you they are thinking about getting or switching to GEICO insurance, find a large blunt object, tell that person to prepare themselves, and then smack some sense into them. If they go through these lengths to take $90 from a potential long time customer, imagine how difficult it would be to have your claim be approved. Heck, you might submit a claim for a fender-bender and end up losing your house to these vultures. I wonder if the GEICO knows about this...

Don't recommend to nobody!!! One year ago I switched from Geico to Progressive, because Geico was raising my premium every 6 months for about $150 each time with no reason. I always had clean driving record. Last week Geico emailed me that they want me back and that they will give me good price. So couple of days ago I filled quote with Geico and they gave me nice price, so I switched from Progressive to Geico. I paid that day my 6 month Premium. Today (2 days later) Geico emailed me that they changed my Premium and they raised price for about $200, and I have to pay it in 2 weeks. Geico just give you cheap price while you fill a quote. Few days later after you buy insurance will raise a price, and will send you bill home. That how they bring new customers.

So I had it fixed out of my pocket $850 and just let it go. So this year 2018 I have an RV I had full coverage and we had a wind ice storm in the spring did some damage to my roof. I fixed it but the water that leaked into the RV did some real damage caused black mold. So I filed a claim they sent an adjuster out he took pictures of everything including the keys. Well they got back to me and said it was totaled. $12,500.00 in damages. Well I was only claiming the front bunk over the cad area and the adjuster turned in every little thing he found.

After weeks of calling and getting my claim handed to 3 different investigators they said they could not afford to cover it. They decided it was lack of maintenance and normal wear and tear on the RV. I advise everyone to stay away. I didn't get either claim paid and now I have to shell out the money to get my RV fixed. What do we pay premiums for if they are going to make up excuses and not cover the claims. The worst insurance company I have ever felt with. Cheap insurance yes but don't pay claims.

Need pain meds??? Not according to Geico-- not a valid claim to pay--- TOTAL SCAM. They do everything to avoid being fair and reasonable. I get that to a degree however when you have a REAL CLAIM, Geico will force people like me to have to get an attorney (40% cost off any claim paid) but when told they would pay for the work loss claim portion and told me specifically the documentation they needed and got from me... I had 4 adjusters meet with to take photos even an interview and also had a police filed and after 3 months given the run around they denied my claim and cut me off without warning. I was driving around for a few days without any insurance. Mind you I never received a letter or a phone call. They are horrible unless they are collecting money. I would never recommend Geico to anyone for nothing unless they want to just give money away.

Original Review: Geico has been giving me the runaround after I was hit by a car and they took off. I filed my claim the night of the accident and the next morning I filed a police report. I went to have the adjusters look at that Geico suggested and they gave me a quote. However, the Geico rep who was less concerned about the situation by insulting me stating it looked like I hit a wall. 1. If I hit wall, I would said that when I filed a claim. 2. Who just hits a wall? 3. No word from them and it's been 3 weeks. I have called and all of a sudden someone different is handling my claim. SMH. They take my payments quick and fast but when it comes time to use my insurance. NOTHING!

DM of 5 Cities, CA. Geico was great until an accident occurred. In January of 2018, my parked car was hit by a drunk driver. I immediately filed a claim through the internet. I had a $500 deductible which they said they would collect from the drunk driver. I submitted all pictures and paperwork, then I heard nothing (crickets)! An adjuster called within two days and said claim was in process but he was two hours away. He called a few times to confirm I would be paid the KB quote and they would collect deductible, then issue me a check for the deductible.

The claim started in Jan. 2018, in March the DUI person's insurance went out of business. I still heard nothing, then they said they would pursue the deductible, but I still had no payment for my totaled car. I filed a claim with the Calif. Insurance Commission at the end of May 2018. It was only after I launched a complaint and inquiry that Geico called from headquarters on June 5, 2018 (several times) and tried to blame me for their delay. They still backed out of the paying me for the deductible and would not pay anything, but $20 on tires eight days old with less than 150 miles on them.

Today, November 15, 2018 I get a letter and an email stating I have not cashed the check I received for my totaled car. It was cashed and deposited May 17, 2018. They said in 30 days it will no longer be valid. Really? Who's on first? The lower cost is not worth the headache and long-term cost it takes you to do their job. I see now they have home insurance. Really? Why would I or anyone else use you when your company cannot take care of business or provide customer service. I never had one claim on my policy until the drunk driver totaled my car. I faithfully paid my insurance for over ten years. They made money on me, were not truthful and provided little to no customer service. I do not recommend this company and will never use them again.

After my outrage, they stopped payment on that check and re-issued a check which then took 10 days! So now it is 22 days later. I take the car to the Collision place to be repaired and they found additional damage. The adjustor went there and issued another claim and the collision company repaired the car BUT GEICO is doing the same thing. They said they issued the additional money to the Collision company and it would take 7-10 days.

It is now over 12 days and the collision company has not received the check. GEICO said that they will have to stop payment and reissue another check which will take another 10 days. It is now NOVEMBER 15 and there is no check and I do not have my car!!! I have asked over and over again for GEICO to send the check overnight, priority mail and I am told that they are not permitted to do that. I have a RENTAL CAR. GEICO is paying for a rental BUT I WANT MY CAR!!!

Does this make business sense? GEICO will pay over $900 for me to have a rental car but won't spend $25 to send the check by priority mail. IS THIS A WASTE OF MONEY? WHO PAYS FOR THIS WASTE OF MONEY? THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GEICO INSURANCE. AND when you call there and ask for a supervisor, a supervisor is NEVER in the office. I want that job!! I changed my car insurance to Geico a month ago due to the rate savings. Within 3 days of paying my premium in full I was informed I owed an additional 110 (for a 6 month policy) due to an added driver's record. I did NOT add a driver after securing my rate and my other household member listed on my policy has his own insurance with Geico and he has a safe driver CREDIT. I was told it was a mistake and they would fix it. No word... so I called again and after a few days and a lengthy explanation received an e-mail that I only owed them an additional $68 (???). Called again and was told it would be taken care of. Well it wasn’t. Today I called again as it’s been a couple weeks with no word from them besides the additional bill.

The explanation today was lame and the agent continued to speak over us. I felt like I was talking to a telemarketer who has a script to get through. I will be returning to my previous insurance agent locally. I feel like I was baited with a reduced rate that isn’t real. I gave them all the correct info up front. Apparently the rate mistake was theirs but they won’t own it... And they cannot explain it so that it makes sense. Tried to tell me the original rate was low due to my partner's longer driving experience. (He is 68... I am 60. Seriously???) Then it went up because of him on my policy? I can’t even imagine having to negotiate a claim with them. NO THANK YOU GEICO.

I was a very long time customer of Geico when My vehicle was sideswiped by a taxi. I was sitting at a red light in NYC when the speeding taxi barreled illegally along the far right lane which is a bus only lane and then cut across 3 lanes of traffic cutting too close and then bashing his entire driver's side along my front passenger fender. It was as though the taxi driver was trying to quickly get across to the left to get to a cross street on the left but not caring that it was a red light. Because I was in an SUV and not moving at the time due to a red light, the taxi however was wrecked. What a mess. The driver was a very rude and violent screaming foreign man poked his keys at me while he was a screaming. He was either mental or pumped up on some type of drugs. I filed a claim with Geico and from the beginning they promised that I was not at fault. Especially since I was sitting still at a red light minding my own business.

They assigned an attorney because they said that in NYC taxi companies have a dirty little secret when it comes to insurance. The city of New York and NY State allow taxi companies to be “self-insured”. That means that they can repair their own cars. And when someone has a valid claim against a taxi company the taxi companies always use lawyers to bully and smear and fight every collision involving their horrible subcontracted taxi drivers. But what it also meant for me was that Geico allowed the taxi driver to lie without challenge at his deposition and the taxi companies attorney to treat me like ** at my deposition. They were rude and despicable. Geico lawyers did nothing and said absolutely nothing to protect me when the taxi company lawyer began to badger me and make outlandish accusations that had nothing to do with the collision whatsoever.

Geico lies and is not trustworthy. After the whole mess of lawyers and depositions and calls and forms etc. the end result was that Geico sided with the taxi company and said I was 25% at fault. That was just enough to save Geico from having to give me back my $500.00 deductible which the taxi company should have been responsible for. Unbelievable. I actually believe that Geico violated my right to a fair and due process because every time I was contacted by an attorney for Geico it was a different attorney telling me that the previous attorney had moved on to a different case. Even the attorney who showed up at my deposition to represent me was a different and unknown attorney to me than the one that contacted me last before the deposition.

Geico or their attorneys kept sending me letters with my name misspelled and so on and every week it was a different attorney and there were several attorneys that came and went and so I could never really be represented properly. Geico in the end was a terrible disappointment. I was crushed. How could it be that I was sitting at a red light not moving when a crazy out of control taxi crashed into me and Geico couldn't defend that? Geico is tainted by something very sinister and will not do the right thing when you really need them. Geico is useless. Beware of Geico. Geico will betray you when you need them most!

However shortly after switching my policy, I was hit by a driver running a red light. A police report was filed and witnesses gave their statements and GEICO said I was not at fault. My coinsureds' car was hit by a driver while parked outside of our house. Luckily the driver left a note and cooperated in reporting it to the insurance, we were again deemed not at fault. However shortly after we received a letter stating GEICO was terminating our insurance. Despite the fact that I have a perfect driving record and none of the accidents were our fault--and all payment for repairs went through the other two drivers insurance policies, we have now lost our car insurance.

Apparently GEICO only wants to sell you their product if you do not use it, and penalize you if you do report. So just know, even if you are not at fault, GEICO will find a way not to pay. I have spoken with several supervisors at GEICO thinking this must be some mistake, but they acknowledge the accidents were not our fault and still will no longer insure us. I just cancelled all of my policies with Geico after 17 years in MD alone. I filed a claim based on bad information from a Geico agent which was not corrected in a timely fashion. As a result, my Auto premiums increased by $400 per year! My complaints were effectively ignored as Geico showed no willingness to negotiate an equitable settlement. I now understand why they do not even appear in Consumer Reports ratings. I have moved my business to a company highly rated for customer service.

I would give a negative 100 stars if it was an option! My husband's truck bed was severely damaged in a parking lot accident. We live in rural Oregon so their preferred Adjuster/Inspector was a 45 minute drive away. My husband took time off work to drive there only to arrive at his SCHEDULED appointment and be told that the Adjuster does not work there anymore. The body shop told him he was the 7th person that had come in that week! So we got on the phone with Geico and they got in touch with another Adjuster about 15 minutes away. He drove over and had the truck looked at and the man was "unable" to issue a repair check due to the claim being assigned to the other company that no longer worked in auto claims. He assured us a check would be mailed. He said once we get the check to cash it and have the truck fixed.

A week later we get the check and deposit it in the bank on a Thursday, it goes "pending" and clears on a Tuesday. Today is Wednesday and the truck is at an auto-body shop currently. I got a call from my bank that Geico put a "stop payment" on their check. The Adjuster DID NOT call me at any point about the stop payment or any issues. My personal account is now overdrawn in the thousands and my husband is at a repair shop 3 HOURS AWAY getting the truck fixed with ZERO money and an OVERDRAWN bank account. I have been on the phone for going on 2 hours with no resolution. So now we have paid $3800 cash to get the truck fixed and our bank is overdrawn by $3156... Leaving us at a grand total of $6956 out of pocket when it should have been our $500 deductible!!! They are offering to send a $2600 check through the mail... This is NOT a way to run a business! This is fraud and outrageous!

Recently, my car wouldn't start while parked in my workplace garage in downtown San Antonio at about 5 PM. Geico's roadside department informed me that it would be three hours before a tow truck arrived and asked me if I felt safe waiting. When I told them that I didn't, the agent I was speaking with checked with the towing company before instructing me to leave the key in the gas cap. I did so. The tow truck arrived over six hours later at 11 PM, at which point I was called with the news that my key had been stolen. Despite having followed Geico's instructions, they refuse to waive the deductible for replacing the key or having the car rekeyed. The last couple agents I spoke with before giving up were frankly indifferent to the situation and blamed me for making the (uninformed) choice of leaving the key as their agent instructed me to. I will be finding another insurance company as soon as possible.

They increase the price and every time I call to find out why the response I receive is "The cost goes up due to new drivers on the road, it helps cover liability of new drivers, and the roads". I understand as they are a company and their reasons but for a consumer who has been driving for 23 years with a clean record has to endure more costs because of others. They should offer discounts to existing customers based on the reasons listed other than adding home insurance.
